"Stronger communities. By breaking down barriers and bias between law enforcement and the communities and residents that officers protect and serve. We've just seen too much attention to many. By a lint protests and demonstrations across the country that have not solved any problems. We've got to figure out a way for law enforcement and the community at large to come together. So faith and blue Weekend is a weekend across America that focuses not only things that we disagree about, but the things that we have in common so that we can begin to build some bridges between cops and communities. Well, it's a real problem here in Louisville and many cities. As you know, we've lost some 240 personnel police officers. So that makes it difficult to fight crime on the one hand, But on the other hand, there's been some legitimate concerns, obviously raised by particularly African American community as far as policing. Where is this going to instead of colliding? Start coming together, has one. There's a real There's a real need for police reform and a lot of ways, but the real need for reform is not just in policy and procedures. We need a reformation of the relationship between law enforcement and the community at large, Really. Tony, there's not been a significant change in the way that law enforcement does its job. In the last 50 years, we have to re imagine law enforcement but that cannot include things like the funding the police and Taking away resources from lawn Force mint. We cannot demonize and bastardized law enforcement into being more innovative, more just and equitable to communities of color. We have to do so. By bringing law enforcement and the community together to better understand each other to find common ground to work around the differences that we have to deal with issues around systematic racism and inequality and policing, but also to recognize that the vast and overwhelming majority of the police officers in Louisville and across the country Go to work and do an excellent job every day. We cannot, as my grandmother would say, Throw the baby out with the bathwater. And that's what national faith in blue weekend is intending to do. It's to deal with the issues that we have to deal with, but also to challenge the community to get involved with law enforcement. Not in a demonizing weight, but in a curative wait. Tony. I have been at the forefront of human and civil rights advocacy the sample of my adult life. We cannot protest and march our way to a more just and equitable society. At some point, we have to turn up pain and to power. But it has to happen in every local community and in every local neighborhood, and that's what national faith in blue weekend is all about. It already seems like it has to some degree with the Delta, Barry and rising. Well, I think it's the it's hoped anyway, that now that the vaccine is fully approved for any fence sitters who are waiting for for full approval, who didn't want to take something that didn't have that sort of gold standard seal of approval from the FDA. The hope is that maybe they that will encourage those people who have been wavering to get the shot. I don't know how many people there are. But public polling has shown some hesitancy while the vaccine was merely authorized for emergency use and not fully approved, So maybe that changes things. The other thing that it should enable Tony is a vaccine mandate from employers from universities from the military from, you know the public sector private sector. Anybody who had been waiting. The full FDA approval appears to give legal cover to entities that want to mandate their employees or their students or whoever have vaccines before they return to work. Heading the courts already shown that that companies could do that, or is that just been? Yeah, There's been a couple of test cases that have survived. I think here now this A couple of legal opinions and legal scholars that we've consulted have said that this maybe even more so puts puts those entities on firmer footing. Vaccine mandates, for example, are already going to be required. It seems for the military School employees here in New York City are going to be required to get vaccine with no testing alternative offered so and I think a number of private sector companies Are going to end up requiring vaccination before returning to work. "I'm Toni Kroos, along with Eric Cantor Ski, ABC News senior investigative reporter and Aaron, a federal judge in Texas. Now the U. S. Air Force 60% to blame For that deadly 2017 shooting at the first Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs. How did he come up with this? Yeah, Tony. It's interesting. Look, the Sutherland Springs Church shooting was the money that was the worst mass shooting in a house of worship in American history. 26 people killed Ranging in age from 5 to 72. There's only one shooter. It's Kevin Kelly. Here's the one that that's to blame but in a civil lawsuit brought by families of victims Judge said that the Air Force shared responsibility, in fact, most of the responsibility because the Air Force failed to report Kelly's history of violence to the FBI and the background check system. That might have prevented Kelly from obtaining the gun that he used in the mass shooting. It's interesting because the U. S background check system for firearms hit an all time high more than 300,000 last year, and so we're seeing some information like that, But I wonder long term. Would this make or put some more pressure seemingly on gun stores. Perhaps gun ranges to make sure they do background checks and maybe even friends and family that just passed firearms on to their family members or friends. Well, look, I mean, that's the hope, right? I mean, the country's submerging from one pandemic straight into another, I mean, and amid increasing gun violence all around the country, and it's not just in mass shootings. It's in domestic violence and suicide and, you know, gang activity. I mean, it runs the gamut, but here The The onus, the judge said, was on the air Force to alert the FBI to Devin Kelly's history of domestic abuse and violence. The statements that he made threatening to shoot members of his own service in the Air Force. And the Air Force just failed to do it now. The Air Force said that it didn't have to because government agencies, including the Defense Department, are are exempt from required, reporting that that may not apply to other types of entities. But The judge still said the air Force had the obligation and failed to exercise reasonable care. All right, So you said, this is a civil case. So now what's the penalty for the airport? Well, we'll see. This is now going to give the families the opportunity to try and and and sue for damages and win some money from the from the government from the Air Force as they try to You know, collect something out of the pieces of the Sutherland Springs shooting, and I think this ruling is a way to kind of allocate who's ultimately going to have to pay. That's a 264 westbound around the credit in Dr Vicinity. Also, I to 64 West. Approaching. I 65 there are some issues there. And these are all for you know, within up one of mile radius of each other. Then I 65 North bound. On I 2 64 problems. They're so clearly with the overpasses and what we're seeing with what limited rain that we had overnight freezing rain or this morning. It's creating a real issue for us right now. Also, I 65 North down at the outer loop there still an issue there is gonna take a couple of hours to clean that up. Apparently.
