"You could look special. You look right. D can white welcome back toe always in fashion. Here's your host Mark Webber. Maybe I might get a little anxious. Maybe I might get a little shy because everybody's trying to be famous in those 25% I wanna do is just told somebody, but you would never want to get to know somebody. I don't even know how to explain this. I don't even think I'm gonna try. I promise must hate away. What I've been thinking about Lots of stuff. But I've been thinking about who I am and what we are What I can be. Started to show I think about what drove me having to get where I got Don't take you some poetic license. I'm starting to think about industry. In what industries do moles mall developers and I got into shopping. I can't help myself. Between Thanksgiving Black Friday. Now Christmas shopping. I'm thinking about all of this Got me thinking about outlet stores. Everything about outlet stores and what they're all about. Why they're there. Just you like outlet stores. I do like outlet stores. Aside from what they represent, which is sometimes a great discount. They also are positioned in a way where it's a fun experience, especially as we talk about in Las Vegas. It's outdoors, a lot of stores. It's just a great fun, interactive place to bay. I must admit I've been involved with outlet stores from the day it began. And, you know, it's just, he says. Wherever we've gone on vacation, whatever have been together. There's an outlet store. We go and they learned to love it. My Children have been there since their little boys. All the stores are fascinating. They began because manufacturers people with brands like my friends at venues and like Tommy Hilfiger, like Ralph Lauren We're being closed out of opportunities to sell. Retailers. I have to say this retailers have the right to make decisions on what they buy and where they buy and how much they buy their store their house. They could do whatever they want. Over course of time. They made the decisions that they don't want to share products. That, for example, if Brand hole, Dude. Nike, if a brand Nike is in Macy's JC Penney might not want it. But it or if Nike decides to sell JC Penney, Macy's might not want it because Macy's is in the same mall is JC Penney. And they're afraid that J. C. Penney will make a cheaper than them all the time, and I don't want to compete with J. C. Penney on price. I never agreed with that when U S Sony if you want to sell Sony Walkman Just sold it to anybody who could sell Sony Walkman. Stores responsibilities to service the customer. Just selling electronic, so just selling cameras. You had to have a Walkman at the time. Same time now, if was upto apple. I'm sure they would sell all their iPhones in their own stores. But it's not enough distribution. So they sell them in conjunction with Mary TNT or Verizon or whoever their providers are, and now you're going to Macy's. You'll see some apple and you'll see it all over. They had expand they go with the consumers are But more and more of these retailers started putting the pressure on manufacturers designers, etcetera to consolidate, not sell everyone, etcetera. So people started opening up their own stores..

"I told the board. I told the bank is you buy Tommy Hilfiger right now fix it. I'm going to focus on buying the war Nickel company When you fix it will circle back. And that was the conversation we had. I guess you never heard that part of the story. Two years later, when you approach PVA You had proven that the new strategy in Europe was working. You had done an exclusive deal with Macy's who agreed to buy into it, and they were very successful and the rest of the world continued to grow. So that's the story Granted, from my perspective. You have mentioned a number of times that was in my head. And now you know where I was in the end. Pvh did both the deals. But in a different order. So I thought I kind of had it off my chest until tonight. When I decided I wanted to read it back to you. Did you see over public company and you talk about acquisitions? You have to consider the fact that you're dealing with people's lives. We had 10 20 30,000 people at pvh if I brought Tommy Hilfiger and it didn't work At a time where they were going bankrupt. Look like they wouldn't. He needed a golden knight to come in and save the company and I was wrong. And it didn't work. Considering I didn't see this strategy at the time, I'd risk the whole future. Those 10 20 30,000 people jobs would be at stake. And perhaps equally or in the reality and public companies. Mohr importantly, I had all the shareholders of P. V. H. I had a concern myself. If I made a deal, I had to make sure I was going to do a good deal that would benefit the company will be a creative and Tommy wasn't fixed that I wasn't in the mood to fix it. Side believe I did the right thing, and I wrote that note to Tommy and I'll read to you now what he wrote back. Mark. I totally understand your position. You actually cold it perfectly right? No way could you have done both deals at the time and you were correct. At the Tommy hold finger US business was a disaster. At that time. I also caught the investment bankers. Implied. It was a done deal before our team even had met with you Think about that guys. Investment bank is told to Tommy Hilfiger team They're going to convince the When I showed up. I didn't want to do it. They were upset the Tommy. He'll think of people in the investment bankers were upset, but I didn't know that that's for another day. Back to Tommy. In any case, it's great to get to know you. I love doing your show, and I really saw how you rescued the Donna Karen company as well. That was Tommy Hilfiger. And I know what's the point of this story. The point of the story is I throw myself on the sword before you This evening. I'm an acquired taste. But at the same time, whoever was in the Tommy Hilfiger meaning spread fake news to Tommy. Behind anyone in with vision there 50 well intentioned people undermining that vision. You have always have to be careful. You can't stop what people say. But you have to know to your own self, how to behave and be on guard and do the right thing all the time earlier in the show, I said, I always do the right thing. Because it's the right thing. Take a break. We'll be back in a minute. Always in fashion. This's Mark Webber We're living in strange times. There's no question about it were regrouping. We're rethinking about what our lives look like. We're working from home, and that is a new phenomenon. What has changed? Is that we are video conferencing were being seeing when we're working from home. In the past. We did our jobs. When we worked at home. We called in information. We sent emails. Lewis Hamilton on How His Formula 1 Career Led Him to Collaborate With Tommy Hilfiger
"Welcome to inside fashion at this week. We're sitting down with a race car driver Lewis. Hamilton is a six time Formula One champion but he has also started collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger. I sat down with Louis the day before. The collection was launched at London fashion week to get his backstory to learn how he became one of the most successful Formula One drivers in history and the approach he used in his collaboration with Tommy who made a very special appearance towards the end of our conversation to talk a little bit about what he saw. So here's Lewis Hamilton. With special appearance from Tommy Hilfiger inside Fashion Lewis. Hamilton how are you? I'm great value. I'm good thanks for having me tomorrow. Big Day it is has been a huge build-up as so much work has gone into to have in the show here in London. Which is really important for me to have and You know I get to be involved in so many of the elements in for example. Choose London as the launch of the two thousand Twenty Spring Collection Spring Summer collection and bring wanting to really highlight the fact that I am British. Yeah even though I'm working with US brand and you know see. Tommy you see a lot of the American flag everywhere and I wanted to remember that. A collaborative Both and also there's just some so much culture here and style and great autism so it was very important me to bring you cool before we go in depth on the collection. I wanted to go further back. Because you know the hard work didn't start with this collection and it goes back many many years to bring you to the position where you can even contemplate doing something like this absolutely so. I never interviewed a race car driver before so educate me and little. How how. How does someone become a race car driver? How does that even happen So I mean we kind of stumbled across it in the sense that so I started racing when I was eight K. My parents with us to live with my dad on the weekends. My Dad was you know this kind of Awkward Guys I. What do I do this little kitten? You know like a lot. Dads are and the thing that I loved loved. 'cause so as left car is crazy about cars as a little boys are in yeah and So that tons of toy cars. I used to Had A little radio control car and the actual like the initial point was I was full and our next door neighbor from the one bedroom. Flat that we lived in in Hatfield He built models of boats and he had built this radio control car. He was driving in cocking on the road and he came over and join. Do you WanNa go and I was like yes about two and I remember driving this thing and I was really good remote control car. Everybody was really quick. Yeah 'cause a big one that believe for thousands four year old able to control this little car with a joystick controllers and so then he bought me one and we started racing four hours racing against people of our age. Who's young establish Over ten years and and I remember to watch the racetrack. You stand on the podium to look down upon it and to to go with the Kind of defense to the over. I had to stand on like three D. A. K. cases and racing. These guys who you know. Spend their hard earned in to raise these. Cause and unbeaten imagine how angry these look. These guys were Still four yards five years beaten. Us Am anyways my dad than was like Hayes head to Akron Coordination's clearly very great and I think he was talking to someone. That's why didn't try to go when I was five. I went to Spain with my dad and we came across a go kart track and that was the first time I drove a car and again that was natural so I thought my dad bought me one from an old newspaper. The back pages was V fifth hand yet villain by like five. Six families really bent and crooked and rusty and stuff. My Dad resprayed woods Stuff like diy still like being Hewlett was and then we entered some races and we one from the one the fresh race. And I loved it. Some I if you do you keep working out at school will do whatever. I can't keep racing. We WanNa First Championship when I was ten and the rest is history silent. Us Thirteen by full monty. Youngest EVER TO BE SUCCESSFUL. Is that one day. We Start Recruiting People. That time right but now they do so. I was the youngest ever to be signed. And also you know. This sport never been diverse. Yeah was gonNA say because you didn't come from like a privileged background. It's a very expensive sport. It really is. So what was that like for you? It was? It was really for me as a kid I was. I was having fun in A. Yeah we go to school in my weekend. I'm going to my friend's house devastated by Rhonda Right and I loved it so much am but my dad was really hot for my family. My Dad remortgaged had to remortgage house. God knows how many times He had four jobs at one stage in the early stages which sounds crazy because there was no future plan for us you know but it was just hoping that we love doing but it was getting more and more expensive How can I? How can I make money to pay for the tires this weekend? How can I keep the call going? Nowhere weekends wells like aside to do a race number desert. I'm I'm sorry. I've done the money this weekend. So He's been the the one of the most infamous stepmom. She's coming to a new relationship as a kid there and she gave up her life. Saving and belief and the commitment was just. It's so special to the real story is not the success that I've had that that people from working in a working class families can really relate to dance. Who Don't know what to do with his. You see people out there today. Support naked on the side of football pitches the same the same thing and there's not a lot of Jarvis data have that background so as the Honda to a lot of people to relate to. But that's the one. I'm trying to make sure that people know because we came from nothing you can do it with a lot of hard work and of course you've got to have fortune on the way in the sense of meat if I didn't meet the boss of the four one team a win of signed and without that signing I would have made it because we would add money. Have you seen cool runnings? Yeah Yeah of course. You know my favorite that took place in Calgary. Yes I grew up in. Calgary did yes. I was there for Olympic no way where the Jamaican bobsled team shown. Yeah Wow and I got two weeks off of school does those. I was in the opening ceremonies. Actually no way so I spent the whole and we were obsessed with that to make him pops team no way. Yeah the the W tops. 'cause I was I was like I don't know in one thousand nine seventy five thousand nine hundred eighty eight. I was thirteen years old but yeah I remember that team. Why Cool runnings? I'm just remember watching cool. Runnings Is My favorite movie and causes. So just the most relatable story that had as a kid so I always relate a lot my life to that movie casino. They arrive this rust bucket at the top of the hill. For the first time they put out and everyone everyone goes quiet and I always relate to light me. My Dad arriving you know would race track the race rapid he would say with trump's because of you know what we have these great close the 'cause shoved Shoved in the back of the boot of vodka and we be picking up on the floor and it looks doesn't look good and A lot of people looking us like what they doing here. You know because again. It wasn't a diverse group. Is it always been a white dominated sport however there was in in the early stages there are there were some other families are trying but they would have they run out of money but So a lot of that you know we just did our talking on the track as they did in the Post said they kept. They didn't win over the nitty. Did they narrowly people's Hopkins? Yeah they did. But you've you've gone on and you become you know without exaggeration. A living legend in your field six F one titles the first one at the age of twenty three youngest ever at the time. What what did you learn about achieving success at such a young age at such an elite level? What does it take? Yes you had some lock. You had clearly got a gift incredibly supportive home environment but at the end then again it comes down to your dedication and and then the focus on what you wanted. Yeah talk to me a little bit about that. It was really difficult out. Search the journey. I think people generally seem to own see the tip of the iceberg. Don't know if you've ever seen an iceberg unknown. How big is beneath the huge? Yeah and there's a picture I found that shows you the success one sees this little bit on the top underneath his world however is so you know. I'm people tune in today and see someone that's one times in the championships and 'em probably not fully aware of how it's taken me years Windows Eight. Danton pro to those twenty two and when I got two phone one so the build up to it. It's just not prepared. You prepare to race. Don't get any preparation tons of media training. You don't get prepare repression tons of what you know. No-one said this is what's going to happen when people start seeing on TV. And that because that's a real shock to the system and Am working no this when you work with a big station when his thousand people behind you working to make your decisions out on the track impact every single one of those you know so if you're selfish Choices and you make mistakes and crash. Everyone feels it. Sure there was a it was a lot of pressure but And again being that we came in every conversation so you the first year the first back from one driver. This never been here again. No diversity in it's only me my dad really people of Color in the in in this which is quite felt alone. A little bit in that sense But it was a great platform for us to do something great and
Carnival shares rise even as cruise company warns of ‘material’ COVID-19 impact
"Reporting cannot keep a good market down at the nasdaq up a half a percentage point to doubt nine tenths of one percent and nasdaq up a half a percent to see where the action is underneath the hood return to bluemix accented or Dave Wilson they will look at this morning well what's interesting about today is you you get companies talking about the effect of the corona virus on their business and their shares go walk and he'll look at carnival look at the cruise lines more generally carnival saying that canceled voyages in Los bookings because the corona virus will have a material impact on results no material that sort of standard accounting terms when you got to talk about what's going on and yet the shares are higher by close to three percent wrote Caribbeans up Norwegian cruise line is up another one is PVH I mean that's Calvin Klein Tommy Hilfiger or and you know they had to close some stores in China no surprise a lot of companies have they also get some of their apparel from China so you know when you put it all together they're real farming their earnings forecasts for one's really now it's an estimate for their latest fiscal year and you know they haven't really kind of express a lot of concern about what's ahead so you see PVH shares among the top performers the S. and P. five hundred or a five point seven percent so really looks like one of those days where corona virus at the very least we seize into the background as an issue for companies when it comes to work doing business or perhaps people are just getting a firmer sense of just how vast the liability will be I mean perhaps this is just an issue of perhaps stocks would be even higher and much higher at that if it weren't for the corona virus worry are we getting any sense of of how much of a dampening effect it's had even as we reach new highs well at this point it's kind of hard to see how much of an affect there might even be in the he'll look at how we're doing this year you know you see the S. and P. five hundred up close to four and a half percent the nasdaq higher by almost eight percent today I'd say I just you you can set price alerts on your Bloomberg terminal is set up to with them that are going to be Sir interesting milestones thirty thousand for the Dow industrials it's a twenty nine five hundred almost at this point and ten thousand for the nasdaq composite which it is just below ninety seven hundred right now it just goes to show you you know as this advance keeps calling it almost eleven years into a ball market and me here you're definitely up against some

"People buying your products, a really your boss, and you better make products that are really really well-made have the right quality. And they're important if you're selling your product to retail, it's all about strength when you have a powerful brand. When you are. Veto Calvin Klein, Tommy hilfiger DKNY, my sponsor, Donna, Karen views powerful, brand you get to meet retailer on equal footing. You have something to say, but don't ever forget for a minute. That's their store, and they'll allowing you to sell their customers through their store. I was thinking about that. Because you would think that the leverage be another way. How are you going to get your products out there, you need a place to sell it the respect? But you're talking about brands that can either be able to sell it online or have their own freestanding stores. Right. Yes. With leverage comes from. It's not like any powerful brand. That's out there. They have to be able to be independent was that a question. Yeah. Kind of the answer to your question is there are many many ways to reach a consumer. If you have a dedicated retail strategy of your own like Sarah, only can be found in Sarah's website was arizon- stores. They don't care about what's happening in blooming. Dell's nasal Gordon Taylor Dylan so belts or nordstrom's. They don't care because they have their own stores. But when you walk into department stores who bring a variety of brands the multibrand retailers, they need great brands, but you also need to sell them. And they have choices which the good thing about your question. Leads to the most important part of the Goshi. Every negotiation both sides both parties have to.

But it's just something you do. So I wanna keep that in mind with the situation. A twenty eight year old said that buck offered him a drink Gatorade. When he drink again and said he began to feel as if you've been drugged and suspect the drink. Contained drugs such as H B. We did the usual change into his clothes drink most the gear in a few minutes. I felt woozy. I didn't feel my normal self. I can barely keep my eyes open. This is I mean, I don't want to go into too much further. I mean, it's it's honestly just almost too much. She would pretty much talk about what the effects of being was liked today's as other the darkness that is in. So the darkness that is in the pairing of Tommy hilfiger tidy Whitey as a muscle t shirt in long Johns, and there were photos of this. You know, what I'll say this. I'm not a psycho sexual therapist. But we all know what Tommy hilfiger underwear packages. Look like, we know what that section of the JC Penney's TJ Maxx may Kohl's wherever you are. You know is a lot of like hunky shirtless men in Tommy hilfiger underwear we know that like the room we know that it's like an American kind of like ideal on that underwear packaging. Yeah. And I just want to say that that is so dark with the white muscle t shirt in the long Johns. Like, I just I can't I know. I know I see like I can't get that image out of my monitors like what kind of darkness and trauma and evil led to that pairing of like fantasy. I don't know. No, I might be reading too much into it. But like, it's it's something I'm not a quip to even. A man. No. When we can it's literally way too much to understand. I can we're only telling you what what we're reading. And what we're finding out. We cannot explain to you. What's actually going on in this man's head? Because this is something else. So. And said afterwards that he could barely keep as open. He felt drowsy and limp using on the middle of the floor. Again, does not believe that buck raped or sexually assaulted him while he's incapacitated. But buck said you're not high enough for me, I want you to another point. I was so blurred in a situation. He actually pointed me, and when he injected with crystal meth, my body heated up like fire, I saw preparing the drugs the table. He said you've got to watch. I couldn't really stand up. I really thought I was the next person that was going to be ad bucks. House against that Buckton Saney thing he was lying on the floor unable to move and just moved around watching him as we talked about earlier before this report even came out more than about six months, actually know a year and a half ago before this report came out because this came out just about a week ago in two thousand seventeen about a month after Moore's death. We talked about demar love, and those stories you just mentioned where they said that this man likes to find people to inject with drugs. This is what people reporting and watch what happens to them. So this is a part of his process as people are warning fuck in nods. What literally is like shaking me. Mike Boorda the story about him wandering around the apartment while he laid on the mattress lake drugged. And he knows that this man is in his house, and he says that he could feel the spirit of death enter him because he really thought he was going to die and he knew about Moore's death. He knew about it. So he Lilley said I'm going to be another body. It's like chill. So I'm gonna miss a little more because it's honestly just too much. But apparently in the end there was this fight between them, and he called his moms and his affairs going to die and in the end bucket. Paying him a couple hundred bucks to fight back to Minnesota. And they never spoke again..
