"This episode 1051 and it's irrelevant podcast here in Orlando, I'm your host Cameron strang and joining me from loveland, Virginia, Jesse Gary. Hello. From everybody's back from Nashville, Tennessee, artist, producer mogul, Derek miner. What's happening what's happening? And from Austin, Texas, long lost author, podcaster, mogul in her own right, Jamie ivy. Hey guys, so glad to be back. So glad I mean, we haven't known. We didn't know what to do without you guys. It has been, we've been wandering in the wilderness. I feel like the children of Israel manna from heaven just we've been just, I don't know how my God. I lost it. I lost the metaphor. And now we are we've crossed into the land of giants ready to slay them. With Jamie and Derek. Now, we are recording Cameron. It is your birthday today. Yes. We are supporting your birthday. Hey, it was not only my birthday. It is Michael Scott's birthday and Eva Longoria's birthday. Oh my God. They have a conversation. Not Steve Carell. Michael Scott. It's on the show. It's on the office. Now, I have a question for you. And I'm kind of interested in the opinions around the room here. All the birthday, okay? For a while that for a while like Facebook made it very easy to just be like, oh, it's so and so's birthday. I see it right there. It's gonna write happy birthday right up on the wall. And I'm good. You know? I feel like people don't use Facebook anymore. And no other social media platform has really utilized birthdays like they did. Right. So here's the question. When it is either of your guys birthdays, do you like getting the calls throughout the day? It's like, oh, my old, you know, my cousins calling me or oh, here's mom, or oh, here's my buddy. Or is it just the happy birthday text efficient? What do you guys look for? When it comes to birthday, greetings from people in your life. I never want the call. I think the text is just great. Texas just great. Okay. Derek. Although, I like to call my Friends on their birthdays, but I text them before and say, don't answer, because I want to sing on their voicemail. And I can't sing. I'm literally tone deaf. It's the worst thing you've ever heard, but I just make it really, really funny and fun. And so that's fun for me to do to my Friends. I want to have a voice to text on that works. Derek, what's your preference? On the actual day. I know how you could just, you ain't got to do none of that because I get tired of I feel the pressure to have to text you back. So then on my birthday, I'm texting a 150 people. And then I'm DM and I'm getting DMs or whatever. So I wish there could be like somebody needs to create a service where it's like you could text one person or one thing and it shoots thank you to all the happy birthday tips. Derek, you're so loved. Did you hear what you just said? And you're like, I have to text a 150 people back that text me happy. Well, it's probably like a sheer Derek. It's probably only like 15, but it feels like a 150. That's what I'm saying. It's probably only like 15. But do you know what? Group text me. I don't have a lot of friends. So I just switched all my friends with group text me and I could be like, got you. Thank you. I appreciate it. Hey, I got all your texts. Thank you. And I like posting on Instagram or something. Facebook made it super simple. For the boomers, they did. I mean, it was probably what a Facebook's great great innovations was getting everyone off the hook for birthdays. But there should be some sort of AI that just interprets when you're getting a birthday text. They just automatically replies, thanks, exclamation point. That's all that's needed. The exclamation point there is critical though. I can't remember what other podcast was listened to. We are in an era where punctuation on Texas critical like a thanks period. Yeah, for sure. Almost sounds passive aggressive. I was like, what did I do? They put a period at the end of this text. I text my kids and my son was like, are you mad at me? I'm like, no, I just was saying thank you. And he's like, sounds like you're mad. I'm like, why? He goes, because there's a period after it. And I was like, wait, what? Of course. If you text back like a thumbs up. Yeah, you're pissed off at him. But you know what? He's also talking about the situation. Y'all have me ruminating on this a little bit. I don't know if it's the taste alone. It might be the random emails I get that's like, hey, it's your birthday. Here's 15% off at Starbucks. Or you know what I'm saying? You're getting marketed to as well on your birthday as well. Yes, crumble cookie. It never felt crumble cookie sends you like 5 different coupons for your birthday. And 6 months. It's like, hey, your birthday is 6 months away. Enjoy 15% off a crumble cookie. Hey, birthday street. You know what I'm saying? It's crazy. The only thing I thought about this the other day, I was like, I wonder if I could make the entire day free meals and free coffee and all that stuff. That would be a day. Let's start out at Denny's. Go around. Okay. But you might get an oil change out of the deal. I'm sure she was just playing it all out, but I didn't do it. But you know what? I did get the best the corporate benefit. Birthday present thing ever. This weekend. Orlando Magic, home game against the Miami Heat, bitter rival. It was the last home game before my birthday. Closest game to my birthday. They're on a road trip right now. They knew it was my birthday coming up. And so I arrived to the game. They came out to me and said, we know it's your birthday, and for your birthday, we want to give you the owner's seats. Like on the bench, and so they did this last year too. The ones at mid court. But these are the ones on the end of the bench. So me and Cohen were sitting with the players. The magic one and overtime. Literally, with the players in overtime, this crazy game over the heat, which is like they were at full strength and heat fans are the worst. It was great. It was the best birthday gift ever from a company. Thank you to the magic dang, why are he fans the worst hold up? Wait a minute, why did you say he? Okay, New York fans in Boston fans are up there. But heat fans, they talk a lot. They just talk a lot. They're just like, you know, I don't know. They're cocky. It sounds like an amazing it was amazing gift, but I do know that you may have a 15% off free air filter check. If you lose. Also, yeah, jiffy lute. Big owls, big Al's muffins. You got that little guy with the Tommy gun on the sign. Come on in. I don't know why we have a gangster. As our logo, but it's your birthday. And we're gonna take a look at that air filter and if you need a new one, you can go. We're recording this on Wednesday, the 15th, the ides of March, be where the ads and disturbing is. This is coming out on the 17th, Saint Patrick's Day. I've always had a weird birthday because when you're a kid, you have to bring cupcakes into school and stuff like that. The only cupcakes that are available on my birthday are green shamrock cupcakes. Kids growing up always thought I was Irish. I was like, I'd always come in with like Irish cooking, you know what I mean? So I've always had a weird birthday. And I have a name Cameron. So they think Cameron is like an Irish man. Yeah. I've

I could be wrong but doesn't matter. This whole thing is a scam. Oh i have important news. I have found it. I have priced it. I know where to get it. The elusive texas orix. We talked a little bit about this. After the show recently last year. I liked somewhere along the lines. I was on the web listening to adam and boom orix burgers so i knew that and then i looked it up. There's a lot of people that have orix burgers and adam said he was going to. I'm going to find out. Don't worry i'll find him. And i'll get some. I said yes true. And then i said well i think if you you said you're there where they grow the damn things saving get some orange orange orix. Let's back up and tell us some of the laggers. what we're talking about. The oryx is kind of like an antelope type of animal and it turns out to be a bunch of different ones. There's about ten of them in. I think two or three of them are extinct except in kentucky and texas has one of one of these extinct ones. They throw them yeah. This is the african oryx and they're supposedly quite tasty and john. I've been talking about this almost ever. Since i lived in texas for a year wonder what that orix tastes like ten. They'll last time was in texas. I drove past a whore a horde. A hurry could've been kudos but it was a herd of origin. I didn't realize that they're small and cute so yesterday Cermark hall celebrated his birthday at the ox ranch and that's an uv all the texas. Which is that's real hill country. That's hili hili. Hili hili billy hill country. It's about About a is actually about two and a half hour drive from our house and this yeah. This place was founded by. Mexico is yes. We're actually very close very close This was Put actually. It was purchased and repurpose by brent. Oxley do you remember him. He's the founder of hostgator dot com vaguely. Yeah so he sold to yahoo in two thousand twelve and he bought this ranch a completely revamped it into a high end luxury a hunting camp with lodge and everything and you can hunt almost except the draft. You can hunt almost anything you want. but the reason we were there is because the guy also has a working museum of machine. Guns flame throwers and tanks. So so marquette invited invited us out to just spray bullets all over the place with the most fantastic. I mean stand guns. Tommy guns Ozzy's all this stuff that you know that you only see in movies alec. Baldwin movies Then we wrote in the in the leopard tank. And i think as a sherman tank all over this place do at forty five miles an hour. That was it was crazy. And so then i'm kind of you got to go to this website johnson. You can see the the oryx it's ox hunting ranch dot com and you can hunt your own orix for the low low price of ten thousand dollars as high. Well it's not the most is not the highest If you wanna hans let's see what would you like now. That's the besa or v. I s. a. that's That's ten grand They also have let me see the markets ted. Nugent likes going to this place. Are you familiar with this razi. The stuff they have an ostrich four grand anything. of course. it's high these two. So i was talking to the guy there. He said during covert it was insane because all the trophy hunters couldn't fly to africa so they all came to their rounds to kill a bunch of poor helpless animals roaming around. So here's my plan. Wow since you don't know the hostgator guy which. I was kinda hoping that you might have run into him somewhere travels now maybe so not just on. I'm gonna take. I remember joe rogan down there. Okay take him down and then joel will pay the ten grand and get the orcs we just we just want some flank some burgers right well. Flank would be interesting That's going to be a real challenge to cook is going to be very small the burgers you can get the commercially available all over the place. I've run into at least five places that sell the orix burgers in price. I can't remember like ten twenty bucks a pound or something. But i was thinking. Some steaks are loin. We'll take care of it okay. We'll make this happen anyway. Flame-throwers are interesting by the way he shot Flavor i did via for vietnam era flame-thrower cooked in oregon with it right on the spot. Yes in fact they have a little aiming spot that is like a camp ground where the barbecue kind of joke a little hibachi type thing and then you just blast you it. Burns burnt to cute was a lot of fun so on the last show you had a three by three and something. Did you bring the dog no camping the dog to the shooting range like that. "Yeah, I guess we could do our buy annual review of why the why they do this to us. Why? Why they try to mess with our clock? Why they tried to make us off kilter? It's just this makes no sense. It's so globe model worshipper of everybody. Well, I had a beginning, which was very controversial. And I believe it was in the at least in this country. It was in the 30s during the Roosevelt administration. I'm not mistaken. I should probably tell everybody that the United States are time to. Daylight saving their time. Is it standard time now? Yeah. Yeah. With respect to standard going back to standard. Daylights. Which is different from Europe because Europe went back, I think, ten days ago or two weeks ago? Well, we used to go back, I think we used to be coordinated and somebody came up with a bright idea of stretching it. Because you know, it's like they're not confused enough. Let's really mess with them and make it all different for everybody. Will let's move to Arizona where they have their own time ideas. And good on them. There's some countries, I think parts of it, some part of Australia where everything's off by a half hour. So instead of two o'clock, it's two 30. Russia have one of those time zones as well. No, I'm sure they have like very standard time. I don't think so. We've discussed this probably every year. Ideas. Whatever I've been drummed into me when I was a kid, here it is. No, no, Moscow has 11 Russia has 11 time zones. What's the country that has only the one? Could make it well, I think Australia has only one it could have to. I could be wrong there. It doesn't matter this whole thing is a scam. Yes. Oh, I have important news. I have found it. I have priced it. I know where to get it. The elusive, Texas, Boris. We talked a little bit about this after the show recently. Yeah, last year. Somewhere along the lines I was on the web, listening to Adam and boom. Oryx burgers. So I knew that. I can get you the whole oryx. Yes, check this out. I had no idea what warns it all. Oh yeah. No, so yesterday, I'd have really long day yesterday. This way, let's back up and tell some of the lag or what we're talking about. So the oryx is kind of like an antelope type of animal, and it turns out to be a bunch of different ones. There's about ten of them and I think two or three of them are extinct, except in activity. And Texas has one of them. One of these extinct ones and they grow them. Yeah, this is the African oryx and they're supposedly quite tasty. And John and I have been talking about this almost ever since I lived in Texas. About three years. I wonder what that oryx tastes like. And the last time I was in Texas, I drove past the horror a horde, a herd. It could have been a horn. Who knows? But it was a herd of oryx, and I didn't realize that they're small and cute. So yesterday, sir Mark hall celebrated his birthday at the ox ranch. And that's an ovale, Texas, which is that's real hill country. That's hilly hilly hilly hilly Billy hill country. It's about two and a half hour drive from our House. Wow. And this place was founded by Mexico. Yes. We actually very close very close. This was actually was purchased and repurposed by Brent oxley. Do you remember him? He's the founder of host gator dot com. Oh, vaguely. Yeah. So he sold to Yahoo in 2012, any bought this ranch, a completely revamped it into a high end luxury hunting camp with lodge and everything. And you can hunt almost except the giraffes you can hunt almost anything you want. But the reason we were there is because the guy also has a working museum of machine guns flame throwers and tanks. So Mark had invited us invited us out to just spray bullets all over the place with the most fantastic. I mean, Sten guns, Tommy guns, Uzi's. All this stuff that you only see in movies in Alex Baldwin movies. Then we rode in the leopard tank and I think as a Sherman tank all over this place. Do a 45 miles an hour. It was crazy. And so then I'm kind of you got to go to this website, John so you can see the oryx. It's ox hunting ranch dot com. And you can hunt your own oryx for the low low price of $10,000. That's too high. Well, it's not the most not the highest. If you want to hunt, let's see, what would you like? Now, that's the base oryx, VE is a, that's ten grand. They also have let me see ah yes. The Ted nugent likes going to this place. Are you familiar with? This is crazy. The stuff they have. You can an ostrich for grand, anything else. Of course it's high. So I was talking to the guy there. He said, during COVID, it was insane because all the trophy hunters couldn't fly to Africa so they all came to their ranch to kill a bunch of poor helpless animals roaming around. So here's my plan. Wow. Since you don't know the host gator guy, which I was kind of hoping that you might have run into him somewhere in your travels? No, I don't think it's too bad. Maybe. So now I'm going to have to take I remember. I have to take Joe Rogan down there. Okay, take him down. Yeah, and then Joe will pay the ten grand to get the orcs. We just want some Flank and some burgers, right? Well, well Flank would be interesting. That's going to be a real challenge to cook. Anyway, flamethrowers are interesting, by the way. I did. For Vietnam air flamethrower. Could have cooked in oryx with it right down the spot. Yes. In fact, they have a little aiming spot that is like a campground with a barbecue. It's kind of a joke, a little hibachi type thing, and then you just blast that. Oh, you're supposed to be able to burn it to the cute, yeah. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. On the last show, you had a three by three and something called sorry. Did you bring the dog? No, can't bring the dog to the shooting range like that. They were shooting these tanks. That's $900 if you want if you want to blow it. If you want to shoot the tank..

"Team previews we are just about wrapped up because the season starts tomorrow technically today when you're listening to this so we're kicking off. I mean tipping finishing off. Do my analogies are always terrible. But they're they're really rough today we're finishing up with talking about the golden state warriors and. I think we have two more previous after this. But i'm really stoked joined by someone in this has been in the making a while. I'm terrible at who my schedule sometimes. Because i've been all over the place last couple of weeks Trying to iron things out before the season started. But i'm really really psyched. Joined by tommy gun from on Over at at golden state. Warriors twitter I normally don't just have people from mba twitter on but you have really good thorough thoughtful opinions so Yeah man. I'm psyched to tacos are on your end. Good mark thanks for having me on first of all. I haven't got the germany podcast lately. I've spent an offseason basically not doing them after doing a ton during the last season so excited to spill all my thoughts at once a year instead of two hundred eighty character format like do on twitter. So yeah. i'm excited do so that there. Oh thanks for having me on and Let's jump inna stuff. There's going to be fun. Man i it obviously. It's it's different. It's difficult to look at the warriors lens in some ways because of obviously then the lakers The nets those are really the big three teams right now and how they talked about media so obviously things get ratcheted up two degrees. that are absurd at times I think we've seen a lot of golden state getting pushed as a title contender right off. Rip had into this year. But you know speaking on some of that before the okay. So i'll let you in on this one of my issues as a bit like i don't mean this is a bit but i just like i don't know i'm generally more interested talking about the eighth and ninth man that i am talking about steph curry. Sometimes we talk about james. Wiseman i i wanna talk about james. Wiseman i because are you trying to get me in trouble already. This is this is one of the things. I look at in terms of when when we talk about the warriors like when we talk about them last year when when when when we hear people talking about the now like yes staffed ray everyone would always stood out to me about the warriors when i was in high school in college in those teams were really started..

They're using people are crying about like you're using tommy guns bar the mp forty those kind of guns and they're slapping a red dawn on it really like historically accurate. It's they said it's not supposed historically accurate using a tommy gun with a. Why am i using a red dot ca about that kind of stuff and it's like okay. They're gonna do what they're gonna do to get money out of you the austin we're talking about a vanguard right now called the vanguard man it's kinda wild to me how they already have cheaters. The cheating aspect is what gets me. Man like how are they. All the use for 'em w and cold war. It's not good god. Well they just like they got. Unlv tool they got walls. they got magnetism bullets. That's insane sane. So as far as the f. ps meta goes for q four of this year if it comes out in a good state. I think it's a coin. Toss between battlefield in halo and i think kayla's going out you think so. Why so we've seen of infinite so far not pertaining to the story. Because or he's a different entity entirely. Do you got to actually pay for the story. Wu right Which has been interesting. 'cause our has me thinking cause are you really going to play a halo story mode for sixty dollars. That's gonna make take you ten hours. Yeah all the previous halo story. Modes are pretty damn short for the most part. The replay ability was playing it at lower difficulties in schools but adding skull stuff like that. You can go legendary. And who knows how long it's gonna take people to map out and figure out okay jumps. It'll definitely be be figured out. I actually have That could bring us over to the next part here so If we go over he'll show you kind of like the davos talking about So this person eric. Lynn shares perspective is basically saying how you know the halo. It'll be a great benign epoch-making masterpiece halo three or halo to the games as executives were over ambitious and the revelation that some of the game's original concepts and content has been cut for the final release and on top of that one thing. That really makes me worried is they have not like shown anything about the story at all. They showed flat tana and the If shown like part of The intro to us the story of how chief like resurrected basically again and but they haven't shown anything outside of that they haven't shown maps they've shown concept irrelevant. Gods become relevant. Activision is now exclusively using it to make warzone a which which is. It's going to quickly hit the same.

"When i grow up and i remember saying i want to run was a fashion chain of teenage guards. Clues called tommy gun but they had a chain of shops in the uk. And i said i'm going to buy tommy. I'm going to be the see you. And ron which would not have been normal. And the copy cited. It's eight years something that got. That's awesome with your parents and cashing your pocket. Where were your parents were they. Supportive of the entrepreneurial aspect or did they sort of see you as taking over the family business versus being an entrepreneur if that makes sense yeah i mean we could do whatever we wanted in a sense. I've been brother is i. I had the best of both worlds growing up. My mother was a teacher so education was very important in the sense that you know the message was always very much. It's easy to carry you know when you get your education. My father is a typical entrepreneur. He laughs goal very young. The university of life so he was the opposite. Hey didn't believe that education was important and he would wanted us to be on the business from a very young age on leave scoreless we. I probably planned to boost i. I went on further. My education went and did my mba. But i also at the same time was university of life rolling working in my parents. Businesses rolling at rolling my own businesses wales so i think might our generation is very different from people in their sixties or seventies. Maybe education wasn't as important. But you can you com- roland scale business with any formal education as well understood and last question sort of on the family business. I don't wanna get to building your businesses and how you scale them up. Was your dad running the original business. Was he always scaling or was he running the business. Where where did you learn the scaling from up top a little bit about that with my parents i would say the perfect business partnership setting aside being married to my father is not are not sino. That's where i it from. He was always scaling. Sorry i believe from the very start very young when he had the business that up when i watch him and look at how he does things he he's scales. Businesses gruesome moves onto the nexen. And my mother was very much a phenomenal business. Leader and sushi operated them amateur. Everything was was waiting. Needed a base. Okay and i was. I was very lucky that i picked up the license for both of them. Because i don both anaya. Was i focus on the scaling side definitely and a lot of entrepreneurs like you said build a business move onto the next they get to a point. I used to to flip houses back in that in the real estate downturn here in the states and i'd get about eighty five percent of the way there and i didn't care about the trim and i didn't care about what the towel racks look like right so i wasn't the perfect house. The needed someone like the attention to detail of getting it there and it sounds like you had the best of both of those worlds growing up where your dad was onto the next like your mom could make sure that the the thing was running.

You have to get clearance from an x in order to get your your license at the federal level if that were to have passed and i don't know where it's probably unconstitutional. I can't think which one it would be off the top of my head but you you. There's people i'm sure they can't stand me that i haven't seen in years. It's you know like fantasy world stuff. I didn't write lied on. The form possessed a firearm. Anyway i think another interesting thing about biden's comments earlier earlier today was that he's you know he compared the second amendment like the first amendment. Like you can't yell fire in a movie theater and consider that first amendment just like you can't own whatever you want and he said like from the from the start of the country. You couldn't own any firearm you wanted. 'Creed II' is a direct sequel to 'Rocky IV'
"Director Steven cable junior to talk about the sequel to Ryan Koukoulas twenty fifteen installment in the rocky franchise creed to is about Donna's creed. Now a championship boxer and his mental rocky Balboa, but it's also about Rockies nemesis from rocky four Ivan Drago and Ivan son, Victor, it's a movie about fathers and sons legacy. And what happens when you're no longer the underdog. I talked to cable junior about what he learned from Sylvester Stallone how to rebuild the drug with storyline and making his own way in a complicated. Franchise. Your Stephen cable junior. I'm joined today by Stephen capable junior. Steven thanks for coming in. Thanks for having me, man. Stephen you directed creed to how did this happen for you a question. No, we I was writing my own script in. I was working on TV show called Greenwich. When I got the call. You know, what I mean, I I did not have greed to went on on a slate or anything like that it just kind of came out of nowhere. And how it happened was a guest MGM has saw my feature film the land in Ryan coup has suggested that a look into because he was don't buy Panthera time and got a call. These guys are spotted sly has oughta peace Michael Jordan has everybody felt comfortable and good about it and didn't necessarily have to pitch myself interesting. So you don't have to come in and say, here's my vigil. I definitely did say here's a vision. I have because I got the script Innis from sly in sly had wrote a draft that had a basic foundation of everything, but he felt like. He wanted to dive deeper into Donald his life, and he wanted to Tesla's, and then we're still playing with the draw goes. And so when I got the script it was like, our has some ideas, you know, when I pitched it to them, they're like while the these work, and it's the stuff that you'll see a lot in a film when I'll spoiling it because I don't know when this comes out doors, we won't be so. Yeah. But so tell me a little bit about your relationship to the rocky franchise where you were you all in as a kid, or is it something that was sort of new to get started doing? No, not at all. I don't know who has not seen entire rocky franchises. Like once in a while here. Somebody says they haven't and I'm might complete shock like you haven't seen rocky. What I was a kid as a kid. I I guess I'm considering young. But I saw the first one I saw was rocky five. Oh, wow. That was the first one thousand first one I saw that's not a great place to start. Everyone keeps the today. Right. Everybody keeps saying that in. And again, I I understand why I guess as a filmmaker. And you know, being who I am now where I'm at. But when you're like six years old watching like rocky five and you see Tommy gun in boxing and people industries. That thing was cool. I mean, it was just cool to me then when I went back backwards. So now start to go to first one then second now that stuff and then when I did I played sports. I was basketball player. So obviously sex is huge sports connection growing up. So throwing my teenage years. It was just about like motivation. I love to underdog story, but around seventeen eighteen, you know, nineteen starting to go to college starting to look into film taken more seriously. That's when I started appreciate a four. What it is. Are you thought sly and what they rocky one which is my favorite one was fascinating man thought it was bowl. They try some really cool things in there. And I was like, wow, you know, a flawed character. Who's not like put here pushback super suave? He stuttering he's doing this. He felt human, you know, and I'm like, oh, that's why I felt so connected to this character, you know. So I thought that was really cool you had this unusual burden with this movie where you have the legacy of the rocky franchise, and then you also have the burden of creed.
