"I have 1/5 in my bag. That's right. I see what you did there, Omar and then real quick being a lifetime Longhorn. I mean, why do you keep up with all sports here? Do you have any take on our new coach? Coach Stark here on the 40 acres full. I do try to keep up some. It's very I don't know kind of difficult sometimes when you travel around as much as I do, sometimes to keep up with the local news and stuff, But I think everybody seems really excited. I'm kind of excited for it. You know, we were excited for Herman, too. So Oh, yeah, hopefully You know, Herman had his ups and downs and did some good and that struggled against the teams that should have been beaten. Which is unfortunate, But yeah, we're looking for some good things, I think Do keep up a little bit. I heard the golf team just finished second down in Laredo that the Border Olympics, So that's that's kind of good. I think I did not play in that tournament a couple of times and was able to pull out an individual victory. Um, there, so that was, you know, good to see that they were able to play that? Well, you know, we have a few guys in the top five. So that zit playing with them? How's the field in Puerto Rico? I know. Ian Poulter's in the field. Brandon Grace in the field. You got a lot of great great players to go love. Tommy Gainey is currently in the lead at minus seven. You shot 1/73. It's a It's a really good feel for this this tournament in Puerto Rico. You know is the top part is really good. Um They went deeper into the alternate category or the past champion veteran categories, and I think it normally does, um I was. I think I ended up being in the field by 17 people, which is kind of amazing. I think last year I was only in by about five or six. So It seems to have gone a little bit deeper this year as far as that goes, but there are a lot of good players. A lot of Guys if I play with Robert Allenby and Eric Eric. Actually, today they both won on tour. Um You know a lot of lot of past champions and Lot of good players. You know that had had played well in the past. Just struggling a little bit right now. Omar will let you out of here on this. Settle an argument. A golf etiquette question here at climates, and I've been doing this show together for what, Like a year and a half. Now, he said that he was going to fix up my golf game. Still, we have not been on the course together. I'm not a terrible player, but I'm a little erratic off the tee. I think I had unlocked something. I'd figured something out. Omar. I like to take my shirt off before a drive. I just find it helps me keep the ball in play. Ed Clement says that that's not that's not acceptable that I can't do that. What way in here. Well, you know, it just depends where you're playing. If you're in Hancock community, Morse Williams. Jimmy Clay. I think you could get away with that, but definitely not it off the country Club of Spanish. Oh, look, He also forgot to tell you that shirtless with very tight short, thank you Short. Uh, e have a unique golf wardrobe, but those in my tracks and you just mentioned there Omar that those of my courses I'm on. That's where I played back. I got the video. I got the video I sent to cringe on, Crenshaw said. Don't send me this porn again. I'll send it to you Omar of of Jason Swing. It's a nice swing a shirtless wing hago lo tomorrow. And make the cut makes the money and we'll see you. Next time. You're back in town. Okay? That's the luck Hook. I will give it my best. Thank you guys for having thank you, Omar. Omar Uresti. Oh, my God. I'm a Longhorn. Great. Tiger told his Hey, let's go with their despair these girls until they look at us. I was I was kind of worried about where that story might have ended. Omar. That was great. Yeah, so much for them. If you want to react any of that 51283605 90, but coming up next the round Rock classic college baseball his stale diamond this weekend and Justin Parks is going to join us to give us the scoop. "But i know we're gonna talk about f. One later. And every time. I think about africa. I think about like the access. You get to these guys through the netflix series. And all that stuff and how much more interesting would would ricky. If we got to see a little bit of what was going on over the past year. You know what i mean. If like i mean i don't blame him and i wouldn't allow any more access than i had to if i was him. But man it'd be great to see like what's the struggle a look like what's it like. What are you working on with a new coach. What's going on. And maybe that's just some of that is just a lack of wooden attended media and that stuff. It's like i would love to have humanized this category a little bit. Though that's energy you're exactly right. But that's i think the f one or something like that. I guess it's dictated by the league. So you kind of have to do it. But i'm in no way suggesting the should he should open up the door camera crew for no reason but like i'm just saying as a fan man be great if we had that not from rookie from you know every player the fact that the tour hasn't done anything twenty four seven hard knocks drive to survive. Vein is like like what are you doing. You've been asleep at the wheel for a decade as funny after watching the formula one race. Today they give you you know when something crazy happens. You know fifteen seconds later. They've got the audio of the racer and the team talking to each other. And it's so engaging and at one point during the round kind of half in half out watching it and like i got i thought i heard the little sound that it makes. When they're going to do that audio i turn my head. I'm like oh they on audio. And then i remember like no. They don't anyone course audio out there. why would they. Why would i get my hopes up for that. What what. You guys heartstrings. Moment of the year. I think this is your category. What do you pull in for. I had women's british open sophia. Shortlist that i mean. That was his as high drama. I think is in. Golf is year just have watching her. Come in you know learning the story. I will not pretend to know that. I i knew much of you know won't pretend to say that. I knew of her backstory. Coming in but Knowing that she missed out. Lpga status by stroke basically had to grind it out on the cactus tour got into the event one of the events in toledo and just kind of like slowly built her way into this event and i think showed up ranked like three. Oh four three oh six or something in the world and then goes on a major. I mean that was just. It was awesome seeing her battle off. Just everything all that context seeing her. Just hold on that back. Nine was fucking awesome and then hearing around. The podcast was great too great interview. Thank you. I'm going to go a different direction. Although i i'd chris kirk shortlist when classic after all he's been through coke rock winning after all but one there was one story and was the very very beginning of the year. A lot of people probably forgot about this. I hope to say what i am. Tommy gainey winning in the von surely after getting pinched in operation santa's nautilus in polk county florida for solicitation of a prostitute. Trying to get a bjp daham kinda neutralizes. Mind a lot. I mean what what underdogs. He didn't even acknowledge it. Fellas and it was like this. This million pound offer say does dottie lists. Sheriff is that is something. I forgot about favorite incident. That i forgot about god. That's a grateful. Mine was kind of going for the funny angle and that just like totally just dunked online. But patrick reed overcoming adversity. You course willingly different juicy mexico. After all he went through You know australia. In the bahamas. That was just unfair. you know avalanche. That was slung on him Choice but to pay all the whole occasions over the years talked on the right right side of it was just amazing to see that i also had a more serious when jim herman winning windham and that was unbelievable and really fun to watch all right next up. We got four more here person of the year kind of like time. Per time's person of the year believe deejays most newsworthy etc. This is like hitler was personally your one year of course of course so it doesn't have to be a positive can be a very very negative person so i had to. I'd omar your st. And i'd love to hear the case for each omarosa two week winning streak right now on the club pro circuit. How you're in one the club pro championship. This year got into the pga championship just to just taking money. Out of actual club pros malls and bryson bracing code circuit. Some of them are far forced there and then you know bryson just doing everything that bryson did i was gonna say. It's either co veterans. Bryson i don't i don't know if you take your pick but i mean bryson was the story of the year in gulf. He saved golf content for this current year he made tiger seem like an afterthought it was the most interesting thing going on every week. We tiger wasn't after thought he was. But i'm saying like you didn't even care. That tiger ended up as like is bracing in the field this week Feel free to add to this list of things. I have In case i've forgotten any sure. I did almost was going to look every your list. I'm glad you brought it. I added. I got a kind of accumulated but gain a million pounds became the longest hitter in the game. He fought some ants. He made a ten. He asked for the manager of the pga tour. He called out kept his abs- he cooked bacon shirtless. He made biro videos. Said he wants to live to one hundred and thirty yelled at a camera for videoing him yelled at another cameraman for taking pictures of him. Had his caddie block cameraman muirfield village. Berated rules official won. The us open teased with a forty eight inch driver at augusta and then complained about not feeling well at augusta after downing eight to ten protein day. We haven't researched much. But i haven't seen much follow up on the price and not feeling well getting a bunch of blood work done. But that's neither here nor there really hippo home. that's true yeah. I mean i think it's it's bryce and no no doubt that's it. That's a very thorough there. A-list who is the. You're sleeping giant. I had a question. Is it too lame to pick rahm. Because i think he he's seems like the guy to me and if it's not rum i think it's bryson right. I mean i think like this questions are all giant. This question to me is basically who is who has just year the takeover game right and i think it's kind of down to those two and you know of course rory in brooks and jt and dustin and all those guys too. But i just if. I had to put my money on two guys. It'd be one of those guys. So if i had to put it on one of those two i guess it would be rahm at this point interesting to see. I thought about going back to also gone back to brace in just wanted to add like big. Disappointment was actually bryson. Not playing better at augusta because i think it would have forced their hand a little bit more and brought some of the distance stuff a little bit more forefront until april..

"Fixit said on twitter too. If you what a great break that this was televised otherwise it would have been lost to the sands of time. But it's the fact that this exists. Go back on Korn. Ferry tour did a great job of tweeting a bunch of highlights and stuff. That are all still up. So if you're looking for if you're looking for more more material go check that out. I'd I'd like to say good on the tournament. Directors for continuing exactly much to Tommy Gainey Chagrin. Tommy Gainey then would go onto win the event Three years later after his inspiring comeback from the prostitution. He's been through a lot full circle. Well that was excellent. That brings me to one that you know. I wanted to reach out to some of the participants. Couldn't couldn't find anybody that was willing to go on record about it. That's of course the 1901 my comments. Yeah exactly Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton Massachusetts Place. Close to your heart and actually the the US to do more fox-hunting they're right in Rainey's funny mentioned that said of live. Hunts they do. What's called a drag hunt? Which they drag a sent around the property. I'm not sure what the deal is. Why but anyway. Neither here. Nor there The pro loves to come out and say this is the highest score in the history of the US highest winning score in history. So that's what led me to it. But as I went down the rabbit hole of the hosted the the US Open in nineteen one also hosted in one thousand nine hundred five just this whole do for another kind of period. Yeah it was only sixty one hundred yards when they played it in one thousand nine hundred one. I think it's up to sixty five hundred now a little bit about Myopia. Mr Leads. Harvard Man Ivy League Was He on the grid iron. I believe Hornsey here leads was right so Mr leads graduated from Harvard. Where in addition to graduating completing his bachelor of Arts in eighteen seventy seven. He played baseball yes. I'm sure I'll see him at the university club up in the big city one day so he he kind of ruled with an iron fist around there for thirty thirty five years. Nineteen O one. We're still relatively in the most of the golf pros coming over Scottish. They're also club makers and pros know Club pros basically so prose prose prose pros for sure for sure. So nineteen actually eighteen. Ninety eight Myopia had their first. Us Open but They they only had nine holes at time so they played nine holes Over and over and over again I would have said that one out proper eighteen only so then moving onto ninety to one so they had the the one thousand nine hundred Us Open at Chicago. Golf Club Harry Vardon wins. They go to Myopia in. Nineteen ninety-one my up to eighteen holes. They played. They played thirty six day. So I believe this when they play Thursday and Friday. There was a playoff but they couldn't play the playoff 'til Monday because Saturday and Sunday. We're members days. Yes that sounds about right. One of those courses where the the country they slow it down slow the Greens down the tournaments because the members play fast. What is the place where you can always show kosher? Yes that's definitely something to consider here. Nineteen one the winning score. Three thirty one. How many rounds it's about it's A. It's an average of about eighty eighty two point seven five highest score on a hole in. Us Open history. We made a twenty four on the fourth hole which is four hundred yard par four. It's not easy or anything like that. I bet I could get it down. But digging more and more into it Willy Anderson very lustrous player in his own right. He won US Open. This was the first of four soap victories. Scottish guy from North Barrick came over believe he was the head pro at apawamis around Westchester area. In New York only lived to the age of thirty one. Different accounts here. Some people said he had epilepsy other. He drank himself to death. First Ballot Hall of Famer when the initial hall of Fame Class Really Stage. I Know Your Big Hall of Fame Guy. He's a he's fine with the whole it's not their website. He he won. Posthumously awarded eight major champion. He won four Western opens which was big time he was the first club pro or even a club pro at Muskoka Kit. He'd never played in a competition before he got to America in eighteen ninety seven so maybe where the deep dive I think so so anyway. So he's playing. Willie Smith another Scott another interesting Scott Willie. Smith was the runner up at three hundred. Three Twenty eight in one thousand nine hundred eight seven shots so you know he. He had a track record coming in you as a dog. They go to play. Playoff after of Smith is up. Smith has a five shot lead after the thirteen poll on the last round five shortly. But what's the most dangerous leading? No doubt he makes a seven after getting bunkered on fifteen lost another shot on seventeen and then had a one shot lead. Going in eighteen Anderson made par while Smith mid double so they come back out on Monday. For the playoff Anderson has the superintendent in club pro. Who was playing in the competition during the radio competition? He hires him to be his caddy. I love that is it. Is it illegal? Yeah you gave him a ton a ton of credits John Jones was his name. He said Great amount of local knowledge probably could have done it without him. But the in the Playoff Smith. Mrs a three footer on eighteen after Anderson makes a five footer and so- Smith has this to tie the playoff and keep it going. Anderson Makes PUTT SMITH MRS it. That's it that's all she wrote so Couple OF OTHER TIDBITS. I found obviously couldn't couldn't find a lot of quotes not a whole lot of people. This was Alex Smith. Alex Smith. Yeah so we broke his leg right. Actually maybe the Thomas Break for Alex Smith Yes lorie actor. Loney which you know. If you've been Saint Andrus Archer. There's the shop there That that family another guy who was in the field guy that we're very familiar with David Brown. Oh He's a roof rufus folk rufo so it seems that he he transitioned shot. The transition from being a Roofer on the heels of his open championship started playing a lot more and started taking his talents across the pond in nineteen hundred two hundred. Explain the river thing When we're muscle bro Right. Yeah very excited that to to talk about. What was it? David David Brown. They've was going to say David Brown was the guy that's the web dot com turns out later found took dot com. Yeah they needed another person for the open at muscle right in one thousand nine hundred eighty six open champion. He was a Roofer. The US early on the roof roof. Put Him in the bath. Wash them up. Washed him up gave them a nice pat cling. Close anyone so go. Back and watch season was a season two toward us. Another couple of interesting things about Anderson. He sounded like he was like the original ball-strikers favorable striker one titles with both the gutter. Percha in the rubber core ball. Mega interlock grip guy. Like he would interlock two fingers. Just one he carried eight clubs huge Mash Guy and Less his brassy on recovery shots not a Niblett guy though allegedly. Not You know. I didn't see anything about the Nikolic to more interesting tidbits. About Willy's about Alex Smith. He was the assistant was head pro at Westchester Country Club. And then his brother. Willie Smith who won the US Open in eighteen ninety nine at Baltimore. Country Club Started Designing Club. De Golf to pull to pack. It was actually injured in the building of one of the original courses down there during the Mexican revolution and then died four or five years later of pneumonia and Smith went. Went Down and finished golf club. H Poltrak teach sight of some carnage in. Its own right but yeah Anderson Also played off his left foot. I could have been like the original stack until guy as well so loaded up last thing from my opium was. None of the pros allowed the clubhouse which Anderson was pissed about that sounds about right so did myopia host after that. Oh you said five to they did. Yeah and actually so yeah so. Anderson actually wins. Players unionized better better player dining which it's such a fun course. It's like one of my favorites I've ever played. There's there's so much. Many wacky holds first holes this blind hill short for it's wild but Anderson one thousand one thousand nine hundred ninety four in Nineteen O. Five thousand nine five was back at Myopia. He beat Alex Smith by one shot. Alex Smith had a big lead going into thirty six older and four liter. I believe and then Alex Smith sounds like a complete choke artist. What he called a tough break Smith Smith digits. People many people could have said Smith was kind of like ricky in his early days. Second place in ninety eight seventh place in ninety nine second-place in a one fourth place and three second place in oh five but one in nineteen. Oh six so. Maybe there's hope for Ricky and then couple thirds one eight nine hundred won by seven strokes and no six nineteen. So just breakthrough broke through so much ricky but have you studied the career Smith and interestingly enough in one thousand nine six has brother Willy runner up about that thank you. Tc It's good stuff. I mean not. A whole lot about the carnage just kind of assumed like it was fucking hard for. I would sign up for another three. Thirty one winning USO tour. I'm up next. We are going to go just down the street for the next one players championship near and dear to our hearts and Ponte Vedra. It's not always been TPC's ABC for a five year period. It was held at Sawgrass Country Club on both the East and West courses one day or today it was the site history with us that the US amador withdraw one Chris Almond last year after not knowing the two day event it was not because the course was too difficult. You'll see we were going to run into quite a few withdrawals for different reasons than than I had to withdraw but So the Players Championship just a brief history for those that don't know kind of was created as supposed to be this big marquee event for the PGA tour but it moved around for the first years went to Atlanta Atlanta Country Club and then it went to colonial for a year and then went to for the third year it went to someone Florida inventory. I think navy struggled to pronounce that one so Florida and then it moved Somewhat permanently to Sawgrass country club a golf course designed by ED. Say I believe it's how you pronounce it easy partner of earn opponent partner. Arnold Palmer in our inner hetero emeritus a Harrison mania it. We're GONNA mostly focus on the nineteen seventy-nine Players Championship when things really came to a head. But I want to. I cover the first two years there. I mean nineteen seventy seven both the first two years in seventy seven and seventy eight. Plus one won the championship mark. Hayes wanted in year. One and Jack Nicklaus won it in year. Two Dan Jenkins had the following to say in one thousand nine hundred seventy seven about the players championship. The championship has a bruised and battered passed from the beginning. It claimed major status insinuating that it deserved to be thought of in the same class as the masters the US Open and British opens and the National PGA a sort of Grand Slam plus one. It didn't ask anyone by the way it is claimed it primarily on the basis. That tournament was big money event to be played on tough courses but the best field. You could assemble. This was all true but major status will only come with age and refinements that will be made over the years if at only public taste and to some extent the attitude of the press will ultimately decide the proper place of the TPC the Players Championship. Possibly the world doesn't need a fifth major and it will have to settle down on that plateau of annual competitions that are thought of as significant better than a Durell or Kemper of course but hardly a master's somewhere in between still having the same conversation. Peter said. Hold my beer as what it was written. Let's see if we how many can we? Maybe maybe we can. Forty three was more important conversation So again players announced around and then so that when it came to the players and seventy seven first time at sawgrass country club hundred.

"Do you have one or you got a really long signature Gary players that you're But same as same as what we saw. North Shore Country Club. Just there's a peninsula out of land out here which when you look at the Google Earth View. It looked like they were trying to sell a bunch of houses there. It doesn't look like there's really any houses going on there which I thought was interesting. There's a lot of cul de sacs with like no houses and the golf holes. Just kind of wrap around. Is this the one where they had fire? Fest Nine Zuma as well so first of all we'll get into the nitty gritty but first of all shout out to college so there's a stroll out on like exposed peninsula. Exactly it's a it's kind of. There's probably three or four holes out there that just wrap around the outskirts of this peninsula. And so so kyle. Thompson won the event. He was the only player under par two under par for the week. Congratulations to him grinder. Yeah he was also six over through. Its first six holes that week so Thursday. Thursday was the day that things were just. I'm sorry it was Sunday because I think it was a Sunday to Wednesday but round one was the day that everything was just biblical. This is one of the first event. I think this was the first thing they did this Sunday to Wednesday sweet so a lot of this was occurring on Sunday Daddy. When it's the only all on Monday it was absolutely all. I vaguely. Remember this. Yeah so cal. Thompson was six overthrew his first six and shot seventy six in the final round which was actually far better than the field average. Which was guesses? Seventy nine part. What are we working with sir? Seventy two I believe par seventy to seventy eight and a half eighty one and a half field. Average wins were north of forty miles. An hour and a mega crosswind on out on that peninsula. So picture kind of basically holds running back back and you've got a forty mile. An hour crosswind whipping across this Peninsula. So off the water. I believe it was video. Yea via sent off water for some holes but it was the peninsula so but what was really hard about that too was it was basically with all the housing and stuff it was. Ob Let's call. Let's say if the water on the left. Ob would be up. The right and the wind was so drastic that you had to a lot of holes. According to a lot of players who reached out you had to basically decide okay. If I'M GONNA lose this too I want to lose it in the OB. Or do I WANNA lose in the water. It's kind of like the left challenge. And if YOU'RE GONNA lose it in the water I need to cover some land because a lot of these things. The boxes are are stuck out almost on their own little peninsulas. So if you hit if you get one like left over the water and it doesn't come back like an ob ball retain shoots. And Larry didn't. You're trying to advance exactly. That was what there were so many cavalier drops. That's what Adam Adam. Long went on to explain that where you're just really desperately trying to like you're probably GonNa hit in the water so you just gotTa make sure you cover Land Casey. Can I had a massive cut exactly? Yeah I believe quote was routine is a death sentence because anything could get far worse from there so a couple more stats Kyle Thompson. Think about all this with putting think of this folks no three putts for the week. Unbelievable wow first time. In a seventy two hole webb dot com to event that the leader was not under par after fifty four holes. So he shot two hundred. And you gotta remember this pre live under part this was a great great point eventual tour winners Corey Connors and Nate Lashley. Both shot seventy nine in the first round instill finished a t five. Both of them would go on to be eleven over which of course would replace the United Ninety one South Texas open is the highest cut in tour history. I remember there was a guy I can remember name. Now he's still. He's still bouncing around on on web in Latin America. In you're probably GONNA get to him. He shot like ninety. Tcu read my mind Gregg Easton and this has said with no disrespect too groggy so he had had some good results absolutely did and I think he followed like he had just like an auto body stretch where he couldn't break ninety and then he like weirdly shot sixty seven day and I remember. Everybody on tour was like really pump for his dick knocked in the next week exactly because it was really hard. It was really windy and hard that the following week avocado so this was the first time in Web tour. History that more than one person shot in the nineties There was three of them. Well three different people. I believe. Four total rounds in the nineties. Greg and Brian Smith and Brian Bigly. So the first two rounds had three rounds in the sixties and five rounds in the ninety S. That is legitimately that's awesome. Let me repeat that on the web dot COM to are often referred to as the Wedge Dot Com to her back in the day three rounds total in the sixties two rounds and firearms in the nineties. That is unbelievable. Tommy Gainey had an interview afterwards. I think he went eighty four eighty six or something like that or eighty one eighty four about the pure stupidity of playing. That interview has since been scrubbed off. I spent way too much time trying to Trying to find it. Tci I know this is one of the things that you have have loved and kept alive each year where they return to the Bahamas live scoring was complete. Shit show is going to be a shit show anyway because a lot of these play golf then behavior in volunteers were and no idea. Well well-versed in how the penalty strokes worked or anything like that and so it was a lot of like. Oh my God. These conditions look insane. Let me see like how my buddies are playing. I remember specifically they had Luke Guthrie up there at like four under through like seven. That's unbelievable this is GonNa be the greatest round ever and the broadcasters or the live scoring would eventually like true up and actually they did it with the TV a lot where they had forget who it was they had someone on TV. They had him listed as six under. I turned it on. I think this is going to be the most amazing round ever played and they just like head to casually brush past time. Yeah unfortunately there was a scoring. He's actually eleven over. That happened constantly for like four days. I think some of the some of the walking scores. I think they didn't know practice swings. We're allowed I swear to God this one of the reasons and so they would count every time guy with practice to talking amongst each other like these guys. We're supposed to be Good Golfer. Key missing the fall He was saying was hitting hit hundred. Twenty five yard four iron. Oh Yeah we'll get to some of the specifics on that too. Although I'm the Guthrie Front I remember him and his wife. Caitlin I think it just got married like the the Christmas prior like late in two thousand sixteen and they were gonNA. They weren't going on a honeymoon right away. So they're like oh we'll we'll both go to the Bahamas. Caitlin was a college golfer like Caitlin. You'LL CADDY. It'd be really fun to be kind of like a relaxing trip. And that was her first round caddying for Luke was This historically biblical round so imagine like when you play in the wind the constant companion in your ears of the wind blowing. Yeah and you just can't find anywhere quiet. Oh man runoff. Well we'll get the second to the par-four twelve hole had the highest scoring average of any hole in the history of the tour a par four. It was stroke average of five point zero zero eight so over a stroke over over stroke above par averaged to five point. Four in the opening round so almost a stroke and a half over-par the thirteenth hole. The par three was set up at eighty eight yards. I tweeted video earlier today of Tim. Madigan hitting an eight iron from eighty eight yards to twelve feet cool shot. I've seen in years. I was amazing. Adam long explained the eleventh hole the par three which was one hundred fifty yards. I believe it was the eleventh but apologies if I'm wrong. It's technically island par-three he said it's so big that he was playing a practice round with somebody and they didn't even realize it was an island because it's it's just massive and then he showed up on Thursday and you thought there was absolutely no way you could possibly hit the Green. And this is his his quote on how he played this whole. This is a big shoutout to fill and number seven at Shinnecock as well you had to favor the ocean side of the green because on the left so the ocean was to the right. The left was a death bunker and bushes which brought in a massive number into play so I figured I would just take my job up near the green and play for bogey. I think I hit it right in the water three times semi on purpose. Can he finish like thirtieth or something like that? Yeah so three times in the water on a one hundred and fifty yard par three. That's that's how serious this was a couple of other players weighed in on twitter when I started tweeting about this event Can't bull shot sixty seven in the final air in the second round and called it quote the greatest round of his life Vince Cabello other Jackson native friend of the program said he was in the fourth group out in the morning on Thursday and it took seven and a half hours to play. The part is this is the first tournament of the year for these pump to get out there. They've been working on their games for four months. And Vince said if you were there you will literally never forget this. Ken looper got in the. Dmz tweeted the video of his hat. Blowing off it's excellent video. You see the water just whipping these players in the face flag six or flying all over the place in Ken. Lubar is trying to hit this. Like six foot. Putt and his hat just goes flying and he's gotta run after it. He said that his first day scorecard how he started the tournament was eight. Two seven. Three four is just how he started and I believe on. I forget what it was the one where he's putting in the in the video. He said he back footed. A seven iron enrolled the ball onto the green from seventy five yards with with a seven iron. And that was the part that he was that he was trying to make which was for par and I was so pumped I hit it there. And then he went onto. Make the PUTT to possibly the the most unbelievable set which which I'll close with and pass it onto my associate Ron. It does come from poor Greg Jason. Who went ninety one ninety five in the first two rounds? You make the cut. He did not know he's just outside the cut line. He claims that he started the week with thirty six golf balls and lost thirty two of mine to two rounds Lost Thirty. Two calls both what? That's that's how hard can it doesn't count the guys that missed the cut so unless somebody shot. You know Super Low First Round Stephen. Yet your seventy-one first round leader eighty to make the cut On the number. Looks like almost Mega Camilo? Yeah and then followed that up with another eighty and a seventy eight so I mean that's it's just it's really heavy stuff and golf channel honestly needs to devote a night to it or a week to it or something but as job said Joe..

"Just some of the stories. We're GONNA talk about remembering Jay shortstop Tony Fernandez. Who passed away over the weekend at age? Fifty Seven PG STAR. Gets Boston in a prostitution ring? And swearing at the referee's is commonplace in the NHL. Shouldn't the referees of the right to give some back? Clo- Julia all still ahead on the WP. James How's the weekend? What while Stevie? The weekends better. Now with that Fiji story okay. I didn't have much going on Valentine's steep by the way I was only sent me sentiment hearts or anything I spent alone. But that's OK Steve. Everyone's Valentine's a mine however Steve. What's the story on the Pga Guy went. Who What where why? How going by the name of Tommy to gloves Ganey. And he's nicknamed remember him. Yeah because he wears two gloves when he goes great name right and he's always one fifteen million in career earnings and I guess. He kicked off his career with a one. The big break show back in two thousand and five on the golf channel and yeah he's a family man he's forty four and he was caught in a prostitution sting. Guess he's he's still gonNA GONNA continue his comeback. He basically was arrested a while back. Basically lost his tour card ended up on the Korn Ferry tour and recently had his first win on that tour down in the Bahamas and referred to the prostitution arrest in the midst of his victory speech and also conveniently enough. Talked a lot about how much you loved his wife in that speech. Oh yeah bad timing yeah. It's like a Blue Rodeo T. Steve it's bad timing. That's all well a couple of things. Steve I see here one of one of the headlines. Was Tom. Tommy Gainey shot to fame shot to fame. Steve Okay I like that. The other ones Steve as I read the story here he got busted in a sting one hundred apparently one hundred twenty men. I'm assuming God God bussing in this sting down in Florida. And he got he got caught. Steve negotiating a deal with an undercover cop for some prostitution stuff. Okay and it was an eighty nine dollars. Steve I I didn't know I guess I guess a prostitute whips out a menu right. It's like you know what I mean. Steve There's some good marketing here. You know I know. And I'm telling this for a friend Steve that usually it's you know it's an even hundred or or one hundred fifty or two hundred for other things. Eighty nine bucks. I I feel I feel like I'm getting a deal from the bay or something on sale this this weekend. I guess things get slow for them to write. I guess I guess. Times are tough offering eighty nine eighty nine fish. You know you're going to I. I don't know where that comes in. Steve what the menu is for eighty nine? But maybe it's a Bogo thing. I know what it is it would be. It would regularly be one hundred sixty dollars but because he wears two gloves. They said no problem. Okay Eighty Nine. Eighty nine bucks. Oh Boy oh boy steep got you bring your own gloves all right you you've gloved up. Stevie as they say so too must be pretty good. Steve Must Be Pretty Good. Steve Well while he's out there shooting to fame as the headline said he's he's got his double gloves anytime. He's got no jail time against ten grand in fines and he's got two hundred hours. Steve of community service where and take a human trafficking class so he's saying human trafficking class because he'd white because he's not very good at human trafficking and you. WanNa get better. Is that what they're talking about? Probably NOT I. I don't know John School. I think we used to call it for a long time right. Yeah this guy tried to pick up a hooker and he got busted by an undercover cop in the last little while multiple holes in one or two gloves it okay. Multiple Steve Okay. He's just hammering those things out one week after another. You know what he shot on Sunday. I want to say seventy or maybe it was sixty eight. I remember that. Snl wasn't a court soccer's right the old soaker. Oh is that what that's awesome? Yeah yeah remember. The guy says you know what is really good when when when you are soaking so cork and I'm going to your cork at the same time. I think that all started back in. I want to see a sixty eight seventy beautiful. Tommy thank you for that little memory. Okay let's transition a little bit here from the prostitution things. Get into some hockey talk. The sends taking on Dallas on Sunday. Night well that was a fun night of hockey at the C. T. C. that courtesy of tsn. Gordon Miller with the call sends when at four three in overtime on artem Anisimov goal..

"What we think it was absurd. That the telecast did not even mention the fact that he was recently arrested for soliciting soliciting a prostitute for there is my microphone on for sure. That's weird it's A. It's so like it's it's Weirder to just not acknowledging pretend it didn't happen than to just like say a once. Yeah this is what happened. Like like very factual you don't have to like give pass value judgments right just acknowledge the news of what happened and then go on about it. Actually in a sport where Dead Air is like as soon as you're saying that like you can picture you know the Dan Hicks. I don't know who would have been steep Rakowski. Here's someone probably. Of course you know incident last week arrested. We're we're still waiting for more details that's really it and I thought like like the details we do have is. It was Operation Naughty. Santa Operation Santa's naughty August which we're talking about earlier this week so it was like you know. Do you think this is worth mentioned. Mentioned like the fact that it was called operation. Santa's naughty list is worth mentioned leagues. That's worth a mention let alone the fact that it was actually him. I and isn't it. It's it's like without that context like I think it's a disservice to the viewers who won. You're kind of treating them like they're dumb right like the everybody knows what happened. You know and to to not acknowledge it is is really like I said bizarre but I think second. It's not to be able to talk about you. Know being able to win on the Korn Ferry tour like a month or month and a half after being arrested and he got his card that week. Yeah like like the compartmentalization or the mental you know to be able to do. That is kind of impressive like like and I feel like the you know. By failing to put the performance in that context it it misses on a lot of key aspects of UH honestly one of the more like embarrassing things to get in trouble like have a controversy surrounding you. I mean I mean so what I think I need to do a better job above above or just carry on living my life probably more likely but like paying more attention to other sports how they handle like I couldn't tell you talking about like how the tyreek hill situation has been and handled by the networks. They're talking about the NFL and things like no other controversial things in sports. How did the other leagues handle? This is a tore. Four things isn't like golf channel deciding. Well we need to protect Tommy. Gainey like this for sure and I can't say for certainty but like definitely the tour of. Yeah it's gotta be it's coming from the tour of the messaging that there I would think all channel like it would even even you know not that they're looking for everything salacious but you know it almost makes their product better. You know if you've got that layer so yeah it's gotta be coming from from elsewhere. I mean to your point like the other broadcast like it's I feel like they talk about it and it's not something where like six months from now you have to be like you don't have to keep talking about it but I don't know correct me if I'm wrong. I feel like this is probably the first broadcast of the Korn ferry tours since that happened In with him winning. You know it'd be one thing if he was tied for fortieth right like you probably don't have to go out of your way but over. Tommy Gainey here seventy five uh-huh it'd be. Yeah I mean I can just I feel like it'd be the front page of like every columnist missed if the NFL like failed to disclose. Hey somebody got arrested. You know how did last week now this week. They just didn't even mention it. How did CBS do twenty ten masters Masters with tiger? I mean like they spell out exactly what happened. I mean that's I mean I know they talked. They imagine they were under screws. Right right the old press conference I the whole press conference kind of like got it out of the way. Yeah we're probably like Mr Payne had had spoken to his piece. Everybody was like surely there's nothing left to say. Feel he covered it for all of it. Yeah I don't remember specifically that'd be my guess. Yeah so that'd be that'd be interesting to look back combat anyways it's just we're not dumb viewers. Aren't that dumb. It's the class act sort of it's like all personality good or bad. It's not reflective of modern media and technology to think that you can hide the or not mention it because that is now going to be the story this awful announcing announcing like if people are going to highlight the fact that you didn't mention it and if you'd mentioned they would have celebrated but anyways one other controversial thing related to the tour this week A A source of Louisville's Golf Digest. Australia was the source on the story. That the official warning given to Cam Smith Not to talk about Patrick Reed earn. I don't know what the official warning is pressure the article but it was essentially like. Don't call him a cheater. You are no longer allowed to comment on this. Do not comment further on or you will be fined or maybe maybe he already was find. It's there was messaging to Camp Smith as in get get yourself in line regarding your commenting on Petrie. which warning would lead you to believe he had not been fined? But there's yeah yes. Any further comments would result in a fine. I believe is which on his face is like colluded Kouris of course but digging a little deeper It is like consistent. I know you're probably bring up the Damon situation but like it's in the bylaws many of which are stupid about like you are not allowed to disparage another player. It's in your quote unquote contract. I don't know if it's that explicit but that's conduct unbecoming to publicly say anything bad about another player so while it's very very very like seems very very very dumb from a fan perspective like an is dumb I suppose that that would be why is because like they have to stay consistent with what's written down now the next logical jump would be like take that out. That doesn't have to be written down. You could change it if you want but we gotta get class tax to buy like ratifying a change to the to the rules which are all written by them. Essentially it's like a whole I don't know it's one of those things that like seems very simple and awful and stupid and is a little little less so or more so depending on your perspective the more you look into it I think I think yet your point basically and I agree with it in like a like five. The letter of the law like they have to do that. That's the laws they've made out and I think the point is like God stupid but at the same time it does make sense like you can't it's it we are the Class Act. Tour is what they're trying to say. We have sponsors to uphold. We have all this like. We're GONNA do all we can to clean your image in do all this so we can get sponsorship dollars. I like you can't like say disparaging things about other players. I wonder what what the letter of the law is on. That like sustained book is like like I know this is like so Joel. Did talk about this on the podcast When we were at colonial this past year about the sun king incident About you know was asked to speak on it any further. They used the because he did use the C word that king had cheated. He's so that new tweet. I learned the hard way that that was not the word that you should use. In that scenario. Where attracts a lot of attention? If you you do even if you do believe that and it was In the rule is that you cannot CanNot say disparaging things about a player so I just commented as like man like the tour seems very fit to dial on this hill of we're going to protect Patrick Integrity above all other things out here and and if that's true then like basically came. Smith Gut is getting like more punishment out of the scenario than Patrick. Do you want me to read. What's in the Hampshire? Oh my gosh this is the PGA tour champions Campion's handbook that was published I Dunno it just came up in Google search but I'm sure the PG Tories very similar if not exactly the same. This is appendix F Randy keeping following alone in regards to public comments and public attacks the favorable public reputation of PGA tour champions players. It's tournaments are valuable assets and create tangible benefits for all. PG Tour Champions members accordingly it is obligation of membership to refrain from making comments that that unreasonably attack or disparage others including but are not limited to tournaments sponsors fellow players and members and or the PGA tour speech that could be reasonably viewed as hateful abusive obscene and or divisive is expressly prohibited. God that's do you know what the key word in that whole thing that you read was hateful. No no no no. That wasn't the word. I picked out unreasonable. Question was we're Kim. Smith's comments unreasonable. Well I think that's that's where the the rub of it lies the next the next to pettis about worthless checks which is also got got a second. If there's any players out there which I would think they would have put that it less players were writing bad checks so we story as developed a what. Ah Did the tour officially on guessing. The answer's no like comment to say that we did not cheat. I think that with their ruling the yes I think if he if. I don't think it's an I understand it like if it kind of is though right like if he would've cheated they would have decayed him right. Like if they had deemed it to to be cheating he would have been defeated is that is that how the rule would have been I. I don't know that for a fact I'm sure girls. Twitter will get all over it if not but I think that was retail thing right like that was the the whole cease and desist letter. That was he got panel. Everything was like if he had cheated like he would've been kicked out of the tournament but like the tour clearly thought that he didn't cheat and that's why he was assessed a two stroke penalty because there was no intent no collusion total exoneration. So yeah I wonder that's a really good point Randi of how they get to the point where it's that's unreasonable that.

"Also you have to if you listen to previous idea. Had if they would take these rounds shrink down into like thirty minutes or an hour I would watch. Yeah and they can still do that. Maybe that's what I'm saying. Well that's what I what I was getting ready to the whole time. Everything are points on the broadcast changing for. PG To are very well documented but if you're not the PG I mean I know the PGA tour but it's a different tour if you're not you know counting on people tuning in to watch tiger and all that you gotta do something different with it like it's gotta be we. It can be weird. It can be whatever like this week on Korn Ferry tour the PGA tour live is out there. They're like cycling. Halley ledbetter was on the coverage. Today there's cycling people in and out there kind of got. Yeah people rolling in Jakarta telling stories. It's not as much like all the detail stuff of all the things that are going on and around it it's different. It looks different. They did miked up coverage last we. We talked about it in the Bahamas. And you're actually hearing players conversations and stuff like try stuff like if you try some and it's a disaster which of reading going to go from point four or two point three nine five. Don't even know how things work but it's not it's going to be minimal. You've mental minimal down at the table. Who are in the boater are pretty much? Yes but that's Kinda the thing is like all you can do is is like drive them away by not innovating. They're doing something different do you know. What the big factor for me though is the course and I think that's you know it's what we talked? What about with the American Express this week where you know like the senior the shaming events that I will watch me? They're they're like a funky course. There's like a whole that plays a little weird. Maybe a tree in the middle of you know like something you gotta give me something if it's just flat and target golf and there's nothing nothing visually stimulating than allowed. LPGA it's like I. I think the more interesting venues you can get to the more you will draw in people like us us which I think goes hand in hand we say about the jail time but like the game. The champion store is not quite the same level. Like those guys still surprisingly like bomb. It Just because they're all in such good shape obviously but they Specimens LPGA especially like you're allowed to go to allow more different courses than infrastructure is not as big. The game is not as big literally. You know it's yeah. There's a lot of reasons to to shake things up one of the things. I took away from the capital coverage was like mark roughing having just felt like so loose in like Kinda in digi af mode a little bit like and a lot of that was just like. Oh come on Maui and everybody's laid-back back and Blah Blah Blah and. I know it's Kinda like a bit but it also like just made the whole thing seemed so much more accessible so much more enjoyable like you said like it doesn't have to be the all series entitles In fact like it shouldn't be exactly and yet may Sunday afternoon for sure. Yeah like Thursday afternoon unlike Dude Fried after the champions saying for the PGA tour to like any of these tours just on a Thursday afternoon. Friday afternoon Saturday Saturday morning to you gotta keep entertained with something like Brian. stuard like in t fifty three putting for par on six. That's not really. I'm going to do it last thing. I'll say I know we got some of the ground cover but in light of College Football National Championship game was couple of Mondays ago and ESPN offer a wide range of different telecasts for the game. In one. Of the telecast options which I watched was the coaches like essentially the coaches film room where they had four active coaches coach's sitting there watching the game all miked up and you're just essentially a fly on the wall watching coaches watch the game and it's like free idea for the chambers humans who are the. LPGA like get some personalities guys who've played get them in a room you know have food beer. And just you. Know telecast telecast those guys watching golf and I'm I'm watching that if if they're you know at all allowed to say what's on their mind and really be free like the to your points like mix up the broadcast Kit Monty and thereafter his rants over stuff like that would be awesome okay. We've we've put this off long impress busting at the seams here Bryson I don't know where what day this was. It has been it has been a while ago but Bryson while on twitch apparently he goes and plays forecast something sure would I don't know what twitches so it's like I I've heard it but I don't know what it is. I want to make fun of it. But it's a very big thing that people go online and and play video games and like it's streaming to watch other people play video games but it's excitement of it. Yeah it's like a streaming service of some kind. I don't I don't know exactly it shows Bryson. They're playing for nine and he's answering people's questions so it's like a live feed of somebody playing video games. Maybe yeah and he's been doing it in a bunch of people watch it and then recorded whenever he says something interesting and golf report it and he said somebody asked him something about bryce about Brooks and he says something like He's got no APPS APPS. I've got the body she. Have you seen the body. She's got no APPS I've got ads got reported everywhere and then Brooks just like ends ends. You met to speak on on Bryson's bath because he got his life ended by brooks replies. You're right I'm too short of six pack in posts a picture of his four major championships. uh-huh funny it's very funny. I think good on Bryson for stirring it up a little say I couldn't couldn't be more in the opposite camp of like. Please show me yourself. Playing Video Games. but good for Bryant like the clips seems like something that is like like a great thing for it to replace kind of interesting. It's kind of like he is on a podcast. Just Jigsaw just shooting the shit which at least some candidate answers. It's probably GONNA stop after after after the match. I like that. He's willing whether you know how tongue in cheek it is. I'm sure very but I I like that. He's willing to poke at another Premier Golfer. I also liked it. I'm really hoping that that twenty twenty becomes the year of Bryson just like continually having his. His textbook slammed out of his hands in the hallway. Always breath well. He's beefy though like it's hard to bully kids. Somebody tweeted though is like this is like the the nerd beefing up to fight the bullied. The can we just say this literally this is the weirdest quite literal weirdest flex ever at what point are ads. Important to to golf like this. And I don't want to overreact. He missed the cut in Abu Dhabi. But like this whole bryson beefing up thing seems weird misconstrued. Rude said that before the before the president's cupper in the preview where it was like. I don't think this is going to happen. We have a long way to go. But what if Bryson's game just like completely falls off the map and we're looking back in twenty five years and we're like dude. Do you remember Bryson. That guy was so good he he was so good and then just like what offseason he just wanted to put on like forty pounds and then he'd like disappeared was nuts. If that happens like that will be. I mean that's like Anthony Kim level stuff does any golfer like start lifting a ton of weights and do it for an extended extended period of time. A shout to the cat. I know I can say that but like getting hurt. Keeping Roy doesn't not do like the crazy lifting anymore. As far as I know. Is that how it works. I thought don't you have to like maintain tain I'm so out of my guys are cycling. That's not what I'm saying ready. You used that's your word is your word. I'm just saying like eventually start figuring out like. Oh Yeah I'm Kinda hurt. Their that hurts a little bit. And a lot of Roy's lifting I think it was misconstrued or misrepresented and that he was it was a lot of it like preventive. Like you know if you do this workout you need this one to make sure your back is balanced etc but he does not share the ribs are okay yeah he does not Do I don't think at least the same squad levels the same bench like all the glamour muscles just kind of stopped being a big focus and like brooks that is obviously Zia. Focus for him. He is hurt his wrist. He has hurt his knee. I don't know what the source of all these things are. But I just don't like for for golf. You don't ask you hurt. Doug Ugh you need to do this forever. What about stallings? That's yeah yeah is he. Like I wouldn't put him in crazy weightlifting category he. Here's like fitness freak of endurance and a burpee and all that shit all the. He's not like I don't think he's Olympic powerlifting. Exactly I don't think he's doing it to get swollen. He is a pretty swale he is but that's a little different I think. But how long has he done that for. It's been a few years. I think that's your point. We we gotta wait and see with Bryson. And but it's like if I'm mid twenties. I'm not like doing like. Is this your plan for when you're forty five or maybe you're done playing golf by the time forty five. But now I'm a bulky s golfers my that's my long-term play you know what I mean. Thick asks thick with three CS. Yeah I just don't I don't know I don't see the golf benefit of it. It seems maybe it's not a golfer. Vanity contest between Brooks in Bryson which is so so weird but in all honesty like wasn't that isn't that sorta the rumor with tiger is would hang around with MJ Barkley all the Quote Unquote like real athletes. He didn't look like a basketball player. Yeah so you wanted to lift. Look like real athlete. I don't know I think I think there's certainly vanity aspect I think entirely especially no Bryson did have a point of. ESPN the body issues. Like Kepco are you only doing curls roles is the only thing you're doing even have backs way into Oh there's that I didn't read it it is he can do whatever Couple more topics to get to Tommy Gainey won the I Bahamas event on Wednesday this past week..

I was aggressive. I am now in my happy place because now every morning as I indulge dolgin one right now. I've got an addiction to Cuban coffee now Bra I have an addiction and I don't think it's that healthy for you so I don't know that it's that that good well it's not it's it all depends on how well if you're drinking like the cafe con Leche or small. If you're doing a small Cuban coffee which looks a lot like a in a French Espresso accepted has jet fuel sugar in it Bro. I'm doing large large with two scoops of sugar milk and to see the two new Espresso Cups. You are drinking coffee flavored cocaine addicted. Yeah now you got. You can't the largest don't do that. That's not yeah. I always wondered why she looks at me like that when I asked him. Are you sure yeah. Would you sewer working. Yeah Yeah Yeah give me give me 'cause I'm GONNA walk for a lot of it's not that I don't think it's GonNa take longer being my dog already. It came down to speak. How anxious was a shade to leave his resort? Apparently coming you might get a bill from them like ordered some stuff you know what I mean. Now they loved him he he got a good report. Took wasn't didn't have picture of my report of his report card. That I sent to Ashley you got. We got put that out if you can. I will put that out on twitter on his report card reads well and he was very popular amongst the new so he will be invited back and won't need the same references that's right he's in. This was a trial trial right. That's how I mean. They were checking his like that like he tends to do he won the day and so So here's my trivia question for you. I love a good trivia question virology. Yup here we go and everybody. You can hit us on twitter as well on this one. Well am I gonNA answer it. Yeah you can to to everyone can answer this one. I don't know that I call it Trivia. Just here's the question since O'Shea had such an amazing week and you're having a great week drinking your Cuban jet fuel coffee. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah worst week. who had the worst week? Tommy to gloves. Gamey or patch agreed. Well Dany was just you you know. Hopefully he was wearing gloves when he was having his glove. I mean it his extracurriculars. I'm hoping he had to glove on the kicker for Tommy Gainey after being arrested charged. I then posting five hundred dollar bond four. Please tell people if you're not aware four solicitation solicitation of prostitution petition in Jacksonville Florida during a sting that was called Operation Not Operation Naughty list. And what yeah yes. He gets better gas with this dude goes out and does the first round of Korn ferry finals to wonder under keep going five under one more six under sixty six sixty six. You know what's going on. You know what score would have been really funny all. WE CAN'T WANNA go back to talking about o'shane business sixty six sixty six. He goes sixty six sixty eight. which close you know what I mean? Sixty let's see again. I gotta say sixty eight and I can't follow it up with the comedian joke because we Disney and I like my job a lot so with not even GonNa go anyway. Yeah Operation Santa's naughty list and the worst part to it's all video radio so but I don't know now taking the consider. Okay so you have that his weak bad and then it didn't the Korn ferry final else didn't end. Well he finished t seven six so he didn't get his full card for the Korn Ferry tour as a guy who won on the PGA Tories in past champions category. Sorry which is going to get him out to start three starts tops so not a great week but now is his worse. Well then Patrick read if you take Patrick. Read from the Bahamas on Saturday Saturday through. Here's where here's what I'll say on the surface Tommy to gloves much worse on the service right because I mean he committed a crime on operation. Santa's naughty list of prostitution human trafficking and child predators career. He was not charged in that part of it. Though that part he was not that that yeah he was part of it was all a part of this sting. PJ Guinea's among more than one hundred people arrested over six. Stay sex crimes thing in Florida now so that is by. Gainey was charged with soliciting a prostitute. It's a misdemeanor in Florida. Although it was undercover undercover wasn't a prostitute so so misdemeanor in Florida so services to meet it was sixty bucks to like. Come on we could go so many ways this law. I know so at least afterwards. Oh I've seen that I click on the link of Operation Santa's Naughty Naughty List and they have have a huge. PDF picture of everyone involved. And let's just let's say it's amazing so yes on the service. What Tommy Eighty? Two guys did was horrible but because Patrick read a much more noted name in his sport he was much more nationally exposed and you get into international exposed because Gaza international game he was would use the term exposed correct. uh-huh maybe some puns intended. He was much more of a focal point. Because of the net of how big and prominent his name is sport agreed. And the big debate that that I should close this tab where these people walking through. ESPN six three West Palm. Carr's Nautilus sorry. Got Close to where Robert Kraft was dinner looking through the window. Oh I guess the big thing too is is Tommy. Gainey thing will go away pretty quick and pretty easy. The difficulty is is what happened with Patrick. Read I in the bunker. The the worst part about that but now is there is a video of him doing the exact same thing at the hero hero in a waste bunker in two thousand fifteen oh no exactly exactly. And that's I. There is one label that is almost almost impossible to shake cheater. I'm not you said. Yeah and it's like so after everything that went down and then the subsequent residual of what happened at the Presidents Cup I don't I know how you come back from that base I put out. You know the the thing that that I put out on social media because everyone was like you know you're going to defend this guy because it all started with you know with cash at him he should have been well. It started back Bahamas when they said he should have been declared. Yes but but yes but but you can't on no matter how much you want to say like that guy should have been de queued and this and that this is why I asked slugger white the question of intent and when slugger Said said in ten doesn't matter and has no bearing here at all the problem with that rule whether you can hate it as much as you want as much as you want to hate it basic he is saying that even if you intended to cheat if you intended to. I'm not I'm not putting words Patrick. Reads mouth or any but would slugger said was if you intended to cheat it still. It's two stroke penalty and that's it so even if Patrick would've said yeah I moved to San. I was trying to give better live two strokes. And that's it like like that's it you don't have to like people got really and they still are really mad like how dare the PGA tour this and now they're they let a guy. I like that represent. BJ Tours following the US rules right. Yeah like you see it all over again. It's very similar. Yeah Yeah it's very similar to that and they're like you know. There are things in place for conduct unbecoming that has nothing to do with on the golf course and and it's like you don't have to like a guy or if you don't like a guy it makes it much easier to grab a pitchfork and torch and start marching. Okay there you go. That's what I was going to say when we were talking about the differences between some stuff is that the problem is that Patrick read his had this reputation now going back to college and that is what follows him as he has that Villain Elon has that reputation of being a bad dude going back to college and then was great for a minute when he did the shush that was awesome and he was our guy like do you guys Ryder Cup. Correct the Ryder Cup. With gets rory mcilroy. One of the great matches of all time greats raise nine holes. I've ever seen right..

"Was the same. It was the same. Their scores were the same. They're doing the same stuff. And then I think if you look at the numbers from just been on tour like hobbling does the the stuff that you need to do to be successful in the PGA tour better than those other guys. Yeah and that's stroke standoff tee-to-green like he's not he's he's not as good of a putter I don't I don't think but you know he's GonNa have weeks where he is. I just I think it might be the guy out of those three. I think that Holland is is definitely the safest bet because he drives it really far and very straight. Yeah and I think wolf would even tell you like he's going to be a streak year player like I don't I don't think he's designed his game to be high floor right clearly. Has a high ceiling comes out first week that he has a new caddy on the bag in the three M and goes out and wins it. Let's just say that that was kind of the story of like swag like yeah. That was kind of the story of of JT's earlier career right early on in his career. Super streaky had missed. Three cuts in Rhode go win and he is figured out. I mean he like there's no holes now so I'm curious to see if wolf can kind of like shore up those holes where they exist assist. Well here's the thing with Wolf. I was talking about this with a fellow. I play with him this week and I play another European tour player at Sean Crocker was playing with us in like dude. Here's the thing wolf like. People don't understand how good he puts it like he drives a shit out of it and publish it out of it. He would probably even admitting he was on the podcast and said like he needs improved shipping and like like greenside bunker play with his re route the swing. He doesn't like the easiest bunker. Shots are not the easiest for him and like the TORP players the best players get those things up and down like eighty percent of the time he needs to reach that level. There's some stuff that he needs to learn grow and clean out but he can drive the shit out of it. You can his irons and he can PUTT. And that's really good combination and as weird as it sounds like some of that stuff sounds So fundamental right like so easy to like that's the easiest stuff to add ad. I think improving your bunker play. Seems not one. Yeah the the the the unique Swiss contributes to right so I mean obviously a he one has a tea and he's supposed to be in college like that's what the whole thing was like. People are quick to put throw shade at auction for the struggle. Like guys supposed to be in. Hi is supposed to be in college. I guess it'd be a high school and the thing with leaving early like Bryson got all this pricing comes out as a rookie John Great on the PGA EJ Torah unbelievable season for rookie twenty three. He's like speed like some perspective on the age of these guys is important and the United. They're not even supposed to be out there yet. And more Cala and Wolf have already won on the tour like keep all that in perspective. They missed cuts. Just understand that there's going to be ebbs and flows to it and they're gonNA have extremely successful. PJ torturers by the way Norman Jong might be the forgotten man that that's a lot of people are saying. Dj Pie in his career by out driving or not really drive. Well the whole thing is very very scummy. I was painted in completely. I don't even remember if I added. Yeah I was painted in a horrible light completely. Misrepresent represented so the whole video. Sounds like a pat read press conference the whole ankle yeah putting all the pins on the left side but I couldn't get any whatever we're not getting into that I want. I want you to so we did this. We did this video. on How many can norman? John hit passed me. Your driver Tasma driver. A I didn't have I ever had to use his driver. which was like this fucking king piece? It was like a two by four. Did that materially affect how far you hit it no because I hit it awesome. Yeah I hit it. It was just downhill par-five shaped left to right and then right in in the landings and there's kind of a we're GONNA get this. This is important speed slot noises aboard. Well we're going to get fired up now so we we had to measure all this based on a track man. There's easiest easiest way to do it right so I hit one track. Man Says it went to fifty four in reality. It was the perfect shape for the whole it caught the speed slot rolled all the way down to the bottom of the hill. I had like five. I had like one eighty five in it was crazy. It was metaphor for deejays game. He's playing a game that no one else has exactly which is the hard that shot no you a hundred yard shot and you got a thirty yard fade into it. You didn't have to do that. That's that's what shook Norman of so much. I think he saw God. I've never even thought to play the game that way. I just hit it as far as I can. And so. He's just rope drawing all these clubs and he hits Weli. I like four iron pass by drivers to ninety. It's five hundred past one yard pass by driver in reality though in reality only one of the balls went past my driver which was his driver so I therefore hit the Norma John play the game was played so little exoneration exoneration of all right. Let's move on this one is for Blake and I'm going to preface this with. Let's is throw the cat at Augusta out because that's the various moment of the year. Most thrilling moment of the year. Outside of Zach shots teebox adventure at at August. I forgot about the most whatever's Laos for those that missed it. I'm going to tweet again. Because take video taken practice. The most iconic teebox at Augusta it accidentally like hit the ball. Hit a T. Marker Kerr who who is he playing. Was It cooter. Maybe that sounds right. Mine's easy on this. It was Shane lowry sorry Sunday at the open. He shot the sixty three on Saturday and then he comes back and man. I just feel like I I would. Even I would even put this up there with tiger. Agusta he the thing that I remember that he said on on Sunday night was that he woke up on Sunday morning and thought I don't so if I have what it takes to win a major championship and I'm like man that is like the most relatable thing because I'm like I wake up and I I and I'm thinking I don't know if takes put two sentences together you know or I don't know if I have what it takes to be a good dad or get husband are all these different things and so for him to do that in northern in Ireland and to walk up eighteen. It's always the best scene of the year but I thought it was really even even more special than normal because it was him doing it. That's why Withdrew from the second round is like I don't know if I can do if I could play in the. US Am this year. I don't know if I have what it takes to check the schedule and see how many everyday I showed up today. One ready to play thirty six holes so for me. It was It was kind of a dual one but I think in our business. Whatever business businesses You you get to know like a lot of these players and you you know you become friends with a lot of them in and forge relationships with a lot of them in like so seeing Adam long win in in Palm Springs. I've known him for seven or eight years and known him when he was grinding on the hooters tour. Talk about someone. Like I don't know if I have what it takes like someone who's just grinded and grinded in grinded and grinded in grinded at every single level and was never like the guy was never the Guy College was never the guy in the mini-tours whatever seeing him step up on eighteen. Gene t against fucking Phil Mickelson and like hitting the shot may legitimately maybe the shot of the year into that eighteenth green it was and then cashing the Putt was done. Your career earnings in one pot completely. Surreal to watch and like thrilling is kind of an understatement. Complete Ditto for packs homeless. That's where I was going to wells. Fargo if you WanNa talk through that well she's going to say like hopefully people like got into perspective because the podcast we did with him last fall it was like one of my favorite ever and the reaction to that from people just it was legitimate. Inspiring it's funny like he's just a great personality in the game and has been through a lot and like can speak on the struggles of professional golf standing on T. box in knowing where every outbound steak is hitting that rock bottom and come back and winning a huge PGA tour event for one point. Four million dollars going toe to toe with Roy mcelroy and like talk going through rain delay a rain delay where tron like icing being in the middle of the attacks in the middle of the rain delay and like going out and draining the pot and going out and winning club twirling on the eighteenth hole. Guy was just awesome to watch and I felt felt like like the community. Whatever weird community we have that you know supports us and like it was all rallied around that like? Everyone was rooting for him. Based on like the stories that they heard and like from what we've been able to get to know from him like that was that was just freaking cool like it was that made like like every week there is a story like that it it matters so much. These guys like that went on tour and to be able to have some perspective for what that meant for a person is what made that week really special. That's what I was GonNa say is it's funny to hear all three of those stories and I know like you know I don't I don't mean for it to be out of touch or whatever because I know a lot of people are never going to have. The feeling of seeing one of their friends went on tour. And I'm not not saying that. That is something that that's realistic for everybody. But what you can distill all of those down to is like the humanity of of each of those moments right and yeah yeah and I think I think it's a I mean. We talked about this with about rory earlier. I think it's a good lesson for people that are like in high school or college like once. Once you get out there like just just be relatable. Yeah like a human being. That's that's kind of what I was getting at is like. That's you know we dump on a lot of a lot of stuff like like. Is it relatable to see rory win fifteen million dollars. No is it relatable. Jon Rahm five million dollars no all that stuff is so it's so superficial. It just seems like that's the stuff that the tour tours like multiple tours every tour like that seems like the stuff that they kind of put all the eggs in the basket of of chasing to try to pump juice into these things. And it's so fucking doesn't matter and I know we're speaking from the perspective of the hardest of hardcore fans But ah the human stuff is just. It's the only thing that gets me to tune in and it's it's the stuff that sticks with you my boys long I love my boys. Love My love my voice my boy. We're GONNA ended how we started it. We're going to wrap it at that Thank you for risking going into the Tommy. Gainey Situation Holiday question. Sorry sorry who lived the furthest under par this year. It's gotta be advocated. I just wanted to speak that. Well I learned my lesson. Now when you don't book through Tran- Travel like you end up just like very like blow average hotel. Experiences tron never will put put us in a situation like this one. I would think with the traveling. I've done that. I book. Hotels hollered at Species Jupiter. Just we could have gone over there. That's true you act like I didn't try that I got left on. Read all right Puerto. Thanks for coming down man grade catching up. It's been way too long I know we've not everyone's got their own pods. We just don't don't collaborate nearly a little with that We used to in the past passed. I it's it's fun to To have a little reunion though and with you guys hopefully coming coming down here a little more on building a new shed Moving moving houses. So maybe a little bigger shed. Maybe we can do the next one in my new show that would be. That'd be sweet deal took cheers. Thanks Buddy Club Club feeder right club. Today that's better than most about let in better than most most expecting thing..

"He's late where he was trying to fire at the flag and a little short and you're again like worst bunker shot you can imagine. Yeah it's that was a cool thing to go back there. Mark is all week to see the evolution of the US team once the lights started going off and they started adjusting and figuring out like so impressive in that show that shows just how a good they are. Just how you know I mean. It's obviously they're like the best literally the best players in the world president history the game but to see them learn on the fly like that and adjust their set up and everything like it's not there so predisposed to doing things one way and give them two or three days and they're they're they're doing it another way. Can we talk about the timing timing of handing over the reins of the twitter account to you on on Friday evening. What happened after that right after it happened? Jt did his little his little. The measure which story three and a half footer. I don't I have no sympathy for not conceding that but which may be again. Maybe he was like I don't know maybe they were joking or something but shortly after we had to get a couple hours were cruising doodle. Dj Ama yeah then somebody slides into the DM's Em's basically saying hey kessler courageous punched a fan funny no-no no no no dead serious. This is about to pop off like everywhere and it had not decidedly not popped off anywhere. Hadn't seen it anywhere. So like digging in on every source I can possibly think of. That's on on site. La La La Right as kind of getting ready to to push that live to the people sands comes on with his kind of pre after we sourced it from it for other people because I was texting you guys like. There's no way this can be real right. There's like read has done nothing but been a massive distraction all week. There's no way that would be the kind of like the punchline to the joke so yeah at least at least caddied fan. This might have actually happened. The rock solid and yeah. There's an insane Z.. POPs ops on was an unfortunate incident altercation Blah Blah Blah and. I've seen funny like I was. I was kind of distracted with the first part of the party. Lean stuff and I said you know what on away like. It's fine like we don't need to follow every second of it. Whatever it's probably fine and I and I flipped it on? That's what's going on with. The with gobbles. Go and looking open my phone. One hundred forty five messages. It's just a complete mayhem. And she sees my face drop and I was like Reed's caddy. He punched fan all my God. Oh my God I just like how it all it folded was the weirdest foam of like. How does this happen? When the one night I step away from cover whichever three three different eye witnesses that were saying? They threw a punch as well. But many people describe it as swiping beer out of the hand many people able described as a shirt punch consent. Either way I think that that part was left out of his carefully crafted statement which then back came out and I was like well. This is a real right. It's like a notes APP. Four play guys got it but it's not like funny like maybe it's like maybe it's real a but it's like the worst. Pr You could possibly. He's like making fun of the guy that he assaulted. Jason came out right when he was in the meeting with commissioner. It was pretty much. Yeah I've ever feel shouted team. Read the working over how big Agatha team delete content farm bullshit adjusting didn't caddy for him. That was we had to forfeit his match for sure which he did place. Yeah that was impressive Kevin. Kirksey can we make the Olympics. A team event team events are pretty boring. I'd rather see more more Seventy two stroke play events. One thing I will say and this is going to maybe be unpopular because we just had maybe the best Presidents Cup of my golf viewing wing. Lifetime I didn't really watch much of the three event or any of that but that's the most exciting when I can think of. I don't think it's going to be like that every year. No reasons that have been talked about which is why every every other every other year which is why I still think that it should be a mixed event and I think getting like having men and women teams would be awesome. especially if you're GONNA play on a lot of the American golf courses where the competitions is not going to be close if you're playing. US versus internationals. One other thing. I think that would be back to other things. I think that they should look into is. Maybe don't have singles last like the team part of of an and this has been floated on twitter by a few people so like maybe having that be one of the things on Saturday. You do six to two different single sessions or whatever. I like that single professions lesser less players. You get your best guys out there. And then and then on Sunday you do other foursomes four ball all and really really leaning on that team thing and then also I think that if both guys on a four ball team make birdies cycle stinks like that should that should that should supersede one of the two guys. I can outbreaks tie. That will be. That's the way to save for Bogo even slower somehow. Ah four-ball is stinky. Viewing forums is so much better. The pace is so much better and maybe it just doesn't translate TV because the TV can't keep up with that many balls in play. Oh I think that's more like it is way more fun show. We're all sweet. That's like the purest form of I'd I'd I dig it bad on TV. I agree with you but it's like they hear about the strategy of like I'll go for it. You live action version. I do but thinking about it like we both make Birdie here like we counteract one of them make him. Yeah that's a lockup does that morning foursomes afternoon singles morning indefinite singles the two days so that would be cool. It'd be cool. Can you go back back through that original list. He started the show with Dj to make sure we covered off on when we gave proper time to all the things that happen. Tommy Gainey also happened in the middle I think think about that and then shot sixty six and he get through his last day with Last days today Yeah He. He shot seventy four yesterday. He's currently t fifty six for those. That may story. He was caught in. What was it operation operation? Santa's naughty Santa's Naughty Little Ocean Ocean County Yeah I think we got to. I think we've got to most of it. We didn't really get to to read shovel motion. We touched anything like to say about it right. Do you know what you know. Big Rules of the game guy over here. What was what was his intent with that like it? Just be a fucking Dick head right. I think it's his new fun. He thinks it's fun. Thing with the Shish Mushin. I Dunno take harassing him. More excavator. The Jaeger shovel he makes the puck and wants to shut them up excavator. Yeah that was. That was what can we the one thing I will say about that. His form on that was fucking spectacular exaggerated on point. Wilson's it was that was that was. That part was actually very impressive. God I still can't believe female backstopped offerings and it came back on the green. Well you're talking to that. He should've should've forfeit. He should have forfeited the whole recused himself. That I never know what's what's real and what's actually it was a big leash was regulating on backstopping. That's true this week you need to. It's a it's a team get. You shouldn't be able to leave your own ball. There are for your teammate. And like you would never want to do it for your opponent would think it would. It should regulate itself basically. It doesn't shout out the leash wild. No I mean it should be legal in match which play you can help your teammate. Saying but you guys should be so obvious but also can't yeah. It's like not technically against the rules. My point that should be against against the rule. That's what kills me about the the whole like doing it on tour like leash can't can't regulate a he can't tell ricky you have aftermarket. Nobody can tell the rules. Official rules official made it marketable market. Yeah I didn't know that the ball to get mark they can mark interesting. I thought the rule in leasing strokeplay is like if you have indicated that you want to mark your ball if the other guy plays before you do it. That's a penalty on the guy that played out that played before you marked it. That's where I I don't know about the rule that's like the you can clearly case we're getting into the weeds on backstopping. Probably means it's time to wrap. It is about that time to wrap up so hour and a half. I think we've got to most of what we wanted to. It was awesome awesome week. It exceeded my expectations. -tations I think we were all really excited for it going into it. I think I'll be over in our ass. You couldn't have been more negative about. This event is like no. That's case why enjoyed it too much was I didn't over hype it I didn't like it was a pleasant surprise. It's like a summary For me is how I learned to stop caring about the tours marketing. Bullshit it just enjoy the president's this go sounds like a novel coming up so all right. Thanks everybody turned in as really fun week. And we will see this permits the end of the we're actually We're GONNA have a couple layups coming out around the holidays but We're on we're on the two thousand twenty rap decade here so huge. It's been shallots Australia. Too great hosts it seemed like in You guys are awesome. Club beater. No Rights Club today. It's better than most about. It is better than most..

"Needed to calm down and take his time and be more patient, and we hit balls for like, I don't know four hours on the driving range. He won like two weeks later, and I never got a thank you card or a or a, you know, a little box of chocolate, covered, strawberries, or or anything. But but funds set you sent a stat to me this morning. That is unbelievable. The run through this one that you sent me with the champions and PJ qualifying this coming week is is a crazy stat. Yeah. So this week this Monday champions heavens we and Tuesday, but this'll be the first time that all three this year that all three door are do have a Monday qualifier. So a friend of mine, and I did if that on this and it all up Monday qualifier. There's a combined three hundred twenty three million eighteen thousand PG starts sixty two PJ wins one hundred and nine web win thirty three European tour wins, though, just kind of speaks to how hard it is keep your status and a lot of the guys that have to go through Monday qualifying and the talent that is in Monday qualifiers. It's just unreal. And this doesn't even speak to the fact of a lot of young guys who can kidney scores. Don't have PJ tour stats are just trying to. Status are in the fields. Also, it doesn't really count for that. But I mean to think about the said I did yesterday was eight if you average twenty three starts a year eighteen thousand starts is seven hundred eighty seven. It's just an unbelievable look into how much talent is in these Mondays. Really, what keeps a lot of these guys going is is the fact that you can have a guy like a, you know to gloves. Tommy Gainey, you know, play the PGA tour who's working in a factory or a Ted Potter junior with a funky left handed. Swing wins a million dollars here last year at the tea and for these guys to keep going and and wanting to keep their fingers in the pot of gold is just really makes for these. You know to use your cliche. These Cinderella stories. Yeah. I mean, you know, a couple of stories just from this year burst. You said is the guy that sold insurance? I years and decided to give it a wrong and Monday qualified into the farmers as playing, Tori. And then you know, this weekend the champion Stewart, Don bell, if the real estate agent shut twenty eight with eight birdies in one part on the back nine after an even our front nine the qualify for the champions of that. I mean, there's just endless. Stories that doesn't even take into account like guys like David Hearn who's been around for a long time lost a little bit of fetish, Monday qualified successfully the first time in his life. He tweeted out. So it's like there's there's a bunch of stories are casual golf fans don't have access to and hopefully I'm doing a little bit to bring those up. Yeah. And if you wanna follow what Ryan does the Twitter feed is Monday, Q info. And and it's really fun to to see this stuff come through. And and into watch this stuff, you mentioned Aaron Baddeley. For example, got multiple tour wins and led the US open by a number of shots ends up shooting eighty I think that was at Oakmont and he's now a Monday qualifier. And and so, you know, top to bottom. There's just huge stories. I mean, Corey Connors is another example this year badly came on or off to of off a Monday qualifier this year to Safeway Corey Connors is a Canadian. He's in the top is played out of the one twenty six one fifty category. So he doesn't get into a lot of events Monday qualified at Tony and and finish three. And there are things that can change a guy's career in corey's. In court case and he's in the Monday qualifier at Genesis two. So. It's just a great insight to how hard it is to the NFC J tour in one. We haven't talked about yet is is Thursday qualifying which many people may not be aware of what that is. But to play in the Monday qualifying either have to have some kind of status or you had to finish in a certain spot in the tour school the previous year. So for example, if a a top amateur or or a club professional or a former professional player who's still kept professional status wants to play a Monday qualifying he has to go through a Thursday qualifier to even qualified to play on Monday. And that's another whole story in itself. I think it's a waste management. They had six or seven. I can't remember pre-qualifiers while score that got through was sixty eight. The levels that you have to get through in order to get to a chance to one of the four spots of the. Energizes is unbelievable to me the guy shot sixty two or three in a in a waste management, Monday qualifier. There's just tons of Greg offers out there. There's a local guy from right up the road here in Santa Cruz, California, who I've known as family and have known him for, you know, back to junior golf days. Eddie Olson, you've probably seen his name pop up. And and Eddie, I don't think he's ever had any sort of official status, but I see his name pop up on these these Monday qualifiers, and he gets into an occasional web web event. And but but just to have the patience and the stallworth to keep doing this, his amazing. And here's you know, guys like Tony Fennell that went that direction. And and now he's ranked Blake I don't know seventh in the world you find a comfort level. I'm a big believer in comfort level. I tell the story Roger Maltbie. I grew up playing a lot of golf together. And he was he was okay in college. Okay. In the mini tours barely made it. Through q school. And then he wins to tournaments is first year. So you kind of never know. And and but but until you go out there and get your feet wet. You just don't know. Exactly. And you know, speaking to Tony fee now. Nine years ago. I found an old Monday qualifier and finished dead last. That's great. Yeah. He shot eighty one with an eagle and it. Again, it don't ever give up and you know, one day, obviously, doesn't define you. So. Yeah, that's that's great. Ryan. I'm so glad that we connected. This is so fun to to to to be able to share share some of this. And like I said having gone through Monday qualifiers for a number of years. I told you the story we chatted this week on the phone. I a buddy of mine, and I we flew to the Hartford one year we both failed to qualify. We got on the phone figured out where we could go. We went to boats bozeman Montana for the Montana state open. We didn't have to Monday qualify for that one by the way. We we finished second and third collectively. And then we flew back home. I got back home on Saturday. I was gone six days, and I won fourteen hundred dollars at Brooke even for the week. So and that's in one thousand nine hundred seventy five dollars. So crazy crazy stuff. Why appreciate you having me on John. I really appreciate very much. All right. We'll stay in touch and be fun to get John. I don't know when US open qualifying or something. But the great to have you on a couple of times a year. So awesome stuff. I appreciate it. Thanks again. Okay. Thanks very much. There's Ryan with Monday, Q info, if you're a golf geek like me, you want to follow it and things do change down here. When we started the segment, I spoke about the the the shadows and the sun down here on the Monterey peninsula. Well, we have hailed now it is hail. It is sticking to the ground. And well, you talk about a cycle of of unique things happening is is really something. You can front quiet for a moment. You may even be able to hear it hitting the ceiling here at the the tenth. So bring your snow chains, and and fun fun stuff. Here. We're going to catch up with Craig check with the San Francisco Chronicle after the break hooked on golf golf sports leader, Don gov.
