"Rest for 36 yards. The Elena is a team with 39. Isaiah Williams been big today. Let's see if they go to him at some point. Here is Devito back to pass short drop left case in Washington with a catch and out of bounds. Across the 25 and up to about the 26. Second and two after the gain of 8 to KC Washington. Williams 7 catches 88 yards today. The long of 41. On our lead 7 nothing. 7 three ten three and now it's 9 to ten early in the fourth. I second and two. From their own 26, they need the 28 Devito, changing now as he looks to the side. They hold up the cards. Big giant play callers down there. And here is the snap back and the give to Reggie law reverses field flag comes in. He's got the first down, but I think it's going to be a hold. Yeah, they're going to call Jordan slaughter for holding there. It was moving up. Number 66. The second down. Yeah, you got beat across his face and then wound up tackling the defender. Did you see it from Mississippi state or bopping around between different fronts of that time they're running their three three 5, which is kind of their standard. And they're stand up linebacker at that time 34 Sherman Thames, you know, so it's unconventional angles that makes it difficult for the offensive line and you know, we've seen this on our offense really struggle to get on track all day. All right, so the penalty holding. Second and 12 back on their own 16. First down marker up at the 28th on the left hand deep in their own territory. Snap back to Vito. They pick up a rush. The veto dancing around eludes the sack. And pulls the ball down and runs out of bound. They have got back to the line of scrimmage. He did to the 18 maybe gained a couple. And the original line of scrimmage. Not much is a decent job by the offensive line sorting it out. We're able to give Tommy a chance on the play, not able to find anything yet, Isaiah Williams. Maybe two yards down. The ball game today, ten ten the Illinois Mississippi state 1320 left in the game. Illinois with one of their bigger third downs of the day. Tight end in motion, third and 12 from their own 16, three receivers now stacked up to the right. Rush coming. Here is the Vita over the middle got a man caught and it's a first down Griffin Moore. In for Luke Ford and number 43. That's a great job like Griffin Moore, hasn't played much this year, but they're just kind of running the staple of the air right there. They're running four verticals, Gryffindor gets inside of a linebacker who is getting depth and Tommy Devito hits him in stride. What a huge third down conversion. Hammer and Illinois first down a gain of 17 to Griffin Moore I don't know if he caught a pass all year. I think so. He's in there for Luke Ford first and ten Illinois at their own 33 huge, huge conversion. For Tommy Devito and company. Pistol lock. Here is Devito. Fakes the love. Rolling left being pressured jump past when he throws it into the sideline. Incomplete. Got away with it there. Second and ten at their own 33 down to 1230 left in the game and it's in ten times. The Illinois tries to hit some things down the field. I think Tommy was trying to go deep there. You just kind of rode Reggie love for a little while. We really trying to sell the play action pop back out and there wasn't anything open, so we just smartly air mailed it over to the side over Griffin Moore's head and into the Illinois sideline. Here's so much about the Mississippi state offense. They play good defense too. Oh, no question about it. It's a good scene. Second and ten from their own 33 for Illinois in the white right to left as we look at it. Play action. Sima Craig going deep laugh looking for Isaiah and he can't get it. Incomplete down around the 20, no flag. Boy, that's just good. Dana green. That's really good. Oh, and now we get a late flight. Where did that come from? Mississippi state, they're just stunned like are you kidding me? That was a really really late maybe it was taunting. Yeah, it could be back because Williams was going deep left there. The play was over and then at the end, the flag came in. It looked like just really good coverage there by green on Isaiah Williams is kind of going on a go route Tommy laid the ball out there, Isaiah, not quite able to get to it. After the play. I conduct Mississippi state number 12. The two yard penalty automatic will take it. Conduct out of the game. Sean Preston. He wasn't even in on the play. No. Sean Preston wasn't even the defender who made the play. The Jalen green gave a little finger wag there. Yeah. But they wind up flagging the other guy Illinois catches a break. Jalen green, the former Texas LongHorn ten ten tie. The align I get a first down, Bronson you buy hammer and Illinois. First and ten at their own 48 to ten ten time. Illinois Mississippi state in a good one, third ever meeting. First one since 1980. Two receivers to the right back to past Tommy Devito steps up in the pocket now he's going to throw to the right sliding catch flags all over the place. Down in the backfield caught by Casey Washington up near the first down marker of the 43 offense Mississippi state. Yeah, that was going to be a positive play when Jordan slaughter has the guy blocked initially in the lines of throwing him to the ground. And who's he in for right now? Well, he's in for Zika. "Reliant quest all in Tampa so glad you're with us here in the new year. Fans have had a great time down here in sambu. We had a big radio gathering last night. Bull bash New Year's Eve celebration people all over town. Tampa haven't seen as many Mississippi state fans. This is kind of old news. 13 straight goals. Mississippi state. So and it's a smaller community start those much smaller than champagne Havana. But this is a good Mississippi state team of course Mike leach passed away back in early December. And they're honoring him in various ways today to bulldogs with some special helmets. They have a pirate with an ML on their helmet. Got the picture of the leads of the pirate ship off to our left. First and ten Illinois after the Change. of possession. 44 yard punt. And Illinois has a Mike logo on their helmets as well. So both teams paying tribute. All right, first and ten, 1210 to go. Here in the third quarter, the align I at their own 21 yard line, Devito goes to work. Got a back to his right. Here is the snap back to him and he gives it to Reggie lob leaves his way through 25 and close to the 30 at about the 28. Yard line a gain of 7 for Reggie love and the lineup trying to get the running game going. That's a nice job I read Illinois running that counter that they run off and Mississippi a lot of stunting and blitzing up front making it difficult. All righty and hurry up mode they give it to love again, runs to the right side and he's got a first down. Hammered Illinois as he points first down, Reggie law across the 34 and up near the 35 yard line gets 7 more on that Gary. Or Reggie love. Can you run game when you're facing a team that stunts it blitzes as much as business city state does? You run gap schemes where you walk down, you run zone schemes, it makes it easier on the offensive line. That's what it did and back to back place. Gap zone. First and ten from their own 36 and here is the veto fakes throws right dump down caught nice job Reggie love 40 and the slides his way ahead to the 40 two 43 we'll see where they say he went out of bounds. He lunged ahead to the 45, but his foot was down. At about the 43. Yeah, good job by wrecking love. Dodging the defenders after number 12 would be able to duck him in the flat. He gets a decent yardage setting up second down and three. Not many huddles in this game today. They align I go back to work second and three from their own 43. Ten 57 to go in the third leading Mississippi state 7 three. Isaiah Williams in motion. Here is the handoff. Josh McCrae powers his way across. And he should have a first down. Needed the 45 46. He got the 47. And an amber Illinois first down brought to you by our friends at Amr and that's energy at work. Just a really good job converting right there. These three yards get four. 6. First down Illinois from their own 47 is the drive stays alive. To receivers right, marques now comes in closer, so does ryman for the line of scrimmage and here is a fake the McRae to throw to marques 50 pounds his way down. The senior all the way down to the Mississippi state 46 yard line. Got 7 more. Second and three. Little John going on down there. But again, it's good play designed by Barry lonny. They think the counter, they pull the two offensive linemen, but marquese gets out into the flat again, a very positive play on first down, sets up another second degree. Second and three Illinois left to right as we look at it and then the white and orange. From their own 46, here he is Devito hands to his tailback McRae in the young man from Alabama crashing his way down close to the Mississippi state 41 needed three got about 5 and another first down Illinois as they're going to the ground game. It's a really nice job by Illinois and the left side of the offensive line there. Pearl Adams and impels from their blocking down, they pull Chrysler and pal cesky. Such their bread and butter, Josh McRae, tucks right in behind it, moves the sticks again. 9 21 to go in the third quarter, 7 three Illinois as they march on first and ten, another first down. At the Mississippi state 41, this one primarily on the ground, Devito will throw this time. Back to pass over the middle slam pattern caught in traffic and a first down to the Mississippi state 30 yard line. Looks like Casey Washington. It is. From Round Rock Texas, Casey Washington. Yeah, there was not a very big window right there. Casey Washington running a quick slant Tommy to be able to go into him the whole way. In case he does a great job of securing the football. Yet another first down this offense is looking right now. Fun to see. Washington 24 catches coming in the junior receivers two to the left one to the right single back set. Man in motion Isaiah Williams, they fake it to him. Devito back to pass with the man on the ryman with a catch. And then it's incomplete. He had it for his foot second. Very similar to Bryan's catch earlier had it for his foot second and his dropped out of his hands. Incomplete at about the ten of Mississippi state. Tim Ryan got hit really hard right there. Jalen green number zero lady hit on him. Tommy Devito with the right read tip ryman just going up the seam. He's open. That's a tough one to bring in. 7 three Illinois, second and ten at the Mississippi state 30 about midway through the third quarter. Here on this sunny day in Tampa. In the gun here is Devito underhanded flip Isaiah Williams and he's not going anywhere. They read that one. Lost a couple of yards back to the 32 official Mississippi state. You really are handed flip. We've seen all year to Isaiah. Yeah, that's a really good job. I Sherman Tim's number 34 is the outside linebacker. He's the guy on the end man on the line of stream which doesn't take the base. Does it seal down? Doesn't tell us the old kind of hangs right there and he's waiting for Isaac Williams at ten tackles against old Miz and their egg bowl win. Here come the cowbells A ringham. They hand him down, generation to generation. And Mississippi state third and 12 Illinois for the Mississippi state 32. From left to right, want to orange in that end zone off to our right. Snap back to Vito. Here comes the blitz. He's in trouble now he steps up. Now he tumbles ahead and he got tripped out. He almost had a lane open. He fell down and got tripped at about the 34 yard line. And that's too many times today, real noise offensive line, not really able to just get it done. And let's see if that looks like they're going to go for the field goal attempt. It's going to be a long one for Caleb Griffin. That's disappointing with a hope to at least try to get another 5 yards to make it an easier field, but this one's going to be pretty long. Yeah, so we've had a 50 two yard attempt. Caleb Griffin. Well, and it's on the new side there. And then just put in overnight. Right there at the logo. 52 yard attempt as long as there's 48 Caleb Griffin trying to put Illinois up ten three. Snap back. Kick

"On the 2nd of January, Illinois defense with two interceptions today. Now the run by Tommy Devito of a couple of yards, 7 nothing. Rogers from his own 25 throws over the middle, nice catch up near the 30 yard line. Marks out of the backfield and again, he caught a lot of passes this year. Back marks got 45. Akis on the stop. Dylan Johnson who's not playing today at 48 receptions. All right, so we'll gain a 5 second and 5 with their own 30 left to right, two 26 to go in the half 7 zero Illinois. Pressure coming Newton on Rogers the unloads it caught left side first down up the left side line 45 50 and into little moy territory is Justin Robinson. With a nice catch and run and a first down Mississippi state. Yeah, that time Matthew Bailey had the opportunity to tackle him just past the sticks. I was Juan Martin. And Robinson is able to get past him and break an explosive play in the passing game. Robinson, the sophomore from the transferred in from Georgia. With the first down, nice gain for Mississippi state 26 yards on the pass play. First and ten from the Illinois 45 for the bulldogs, late in the first half, hand off to the tailback. Runs it up the middle to play the marks run ahead to the 40 of Illinois gain of 5. 44 to go and counting Mississippi has all three of their timeouts, so does Illinois. Marching a line I and the Mississippi state ban getting ready behind the Illinois bench down below us. The section below us is just packed with orange. Mississippi state a little spotty on the other side. Second and 5 from the Illinois 40. Here's a reverse. Marks flips the behind him. We got to receive her carrying the ball looking to throw back to Rogers. With a nice catch, the quarterback inside the Illinois 30. Yeah, and that was a play. It's just kind of a reverse pass and they're trying to get it to Rogers. Illinois wound up seeing it, but so many defenders were on the opposite side of the field. They're not able to get there and putting pressure on the receiver trying to throw the ball or cover Will Rogers. Yeah, Jaden Wally was the receiver looking to throw and he found at the last minute Rogers standing inside the Illinois 30 at the 27 of first down for the bulldogs. 7 zero Illinois minutes 17 to go on the half plenty of time for Mississippi state. Here comes the rush throw left into traffic and almost another pick. My goodness. The Ilan eye were right there in tentative for Griffin. Martin was there. Sitting there just trying to run across and route in front of him in Connecticut as a great job, reading Rogers, his eyes were breaking on ball to break up the pass. Remember the game with northwestern, you had the pick 6 and the scoop and score in that game. 7 nothing Illinois, one 13 to go in the half. Mississippi state second and ten at the Illinois 27 Rogers quick dumped down to the right point and then knocked off his feet hard. Is the receiver number 18 Justin Robinson and the allied I just clobber him at the line of scrimmage. Johnny Newton, Johnny Newton read the middle screen right there. They throw it to the receiver out there, Justin Robinson is coming back inside. This is at the state. And big Johnny Newton is there to wallop the second. Three great play. Here's Johnny. It's been all over the place today. Had a deflection that led to an interception. Pressure on the quarterback first team all Big Ten. Juan Martin was all Big Ten second and 13. Heath Randolph Tariq Barnes all victim honorable mentions Seth Coleman honorable mention gave back is all Big Ten honorable Mitch who hit a bunch of guys honored this year in that defense and they're pitching a shutout so far holding this high powered Mississippi offense to a 168 total yards

"To call it a quarterback sweep the whole way. To receivers on each side, great job of executing and walking up front. And Tommy Devito takes it in for the touchdown again. He has the ability to be a weapon with his legs, Illinois used its sparingly, but that's a great job of executing in the red zone by the Illinois offense and Tommy Devito goes in, standing up. Devito had three touchdowns, remember up at camp Randall, I think he added one later in the year as well. He texts on one here from a couple of yards out. They align I take the lead late in the first half, Griffin on for the extra point. 6 nothing Illinois. Extra point is up and the extra point is good. And they align on lead Mississippi state 7 zero with two 49 to go. Here in the second quarter in the big orange crowd on their feet while in Casey Washington absolutely annihilated a bulldog defender on that touchdown Ronnie's lined up on the left comes in gets the crack block. Clears the way for Tommy Devito, Illinois lead. There is not a lot of room on either sideline and on the end zone's crowd very close here at the home of the Buccaneers. And the marching bands were trying to get together and the cheering squads and there's all kinds of there's a lot going on a lot going on down there. We got other local cheer squads and highlighter type colors running all over the place, but really good drive by Illinois and Ryan, one of the things that's really important. They allowed their defense to rest. You get the interception, Kendall Smith, then weren't able to capitalize on Matthew Bailey's interception. Kendall Smith with the interception of the offense works his way down the field. Puts it in the end zone for the touchdown, and that Illinois defense is able to get plenty of rest here, two 49 left to go in the first half and it's been an impressive showing, especially by that unit of the D 7 play 74 yards, a minute 47, the time of possession. The interception by Kendall Smith set him up at their own 23. Ilana only rushed for three yards, but a couple of them on the run there by Tommy Devito, the big play, the 41 yard pass and catch and run. Thereby, Isaiah Williams. So the align I lead 7 nothing two 49 to go first down. Yeah, yeah, it's been defensively. They've done a really nice job so far. And obviously the two takeaways are what you look at, but it's also the tip passes. It's the defensive line that's Johnny Newton with two. It's Calvin Avery getting his hand up. It's guys doing a good job of just playing sound defense on the back end. And then offensively they're able to capitalize there, they're able to put the ball in the end zone. It's also been a relatively clean game so far from a penalty perspective. But the other thing, look, you can't sit back on your laurels whatsoever. Again, two 49 left to go here in the first half. Mississippi state is born for situations like this, so they have the ability to work their way down the field. We'll see what the Illinois de can do. So 7 nothing Illinois let's go to Michael Martin here. Speaking of staying focused, the returner for Mississippi state. Tulu Griffin, that's right. He had a touchdown return. He returned for touchdown against auburn this year. So he's a dangerous returner. I'm expecting a touchback from Caleb Griffin, but we gotta be ready in the event we don't. Gotta cover that up. Steve Kelly coming up with a halftime with recap will check on the Purdue game across the state there in Orlando as they play in the citrus bowl. Here in the relia quest ball, the old outback ball of the Hall of Fame bull as it was back when John McAfee was coaching. Here in Tampa, the line on their 1st January bowl game in Florida in 30 years and boy the defense has been stingy today a 120 total yards for this high powered Mississippi state offense, 102 passing for Rogers getting pressure two picks. I believe that's now a school record in interceptions for Illinois program record 24 in one season. That was the 6th rushing touchdown of the year for Tommy Devito. Got it from two yards out. Last time Illinois held an opponent scoreless in the first half was the 2010 Texas ball. They let Baylor 16 nothing at halftime. They beat east Carolina in the 94 liberty bowl 30 nothing. Pitching a shot out so far. Two 49 to go here in the first half, Devito caps. The 7th play 74 yard drive. With a two yard run Griffin will kick it off for Illinois Simeon price is deep. And Griffin is out there. Price gone up at about the 12 Griffin is the Michael mentor very dangerous returner. Again, not much of a breeze if there is any it's blowing at the back of Caleb Griffin. And the kick is going to be near the goal line and the Griffin wants it sail over his head. And the Mississippi state will start first and ten at their own 25 Illinois the first team to score here today. Today's

"Here's the snap back and a fake to love. Devito depot with a metal Williams with a catch of midfield, the 40 of Mississippi state, a duke's death and he's down and a big game for Illinois. Isaiah Williams with a first down inside the Mississippi state 40 to Cambrian Richardson on the stop and that's the hot hand today as Isaiah Williams. Yeah, it's excellent protection in Isaiah Williams able to get a step Tommy Devito throws it perfectly and Illinois is back up on the ball in Mississippi state territory. 82 yards receiving for Williams. We got 41 on that one. First and ten at the Mississippi state 38 Devito throwing the left. Looking for Casey Washington and a diving catch in front of the Illinois sideline. And a first down around the 25 gain of 13 more. As the elana defense offense starts to heat up here a little bit. Getting near the carnal red zone. Mississippi state on defense first and ten. Illinois at the Mississippi state 25 ryman in motion. Love to the left of the Vito fake Tommy throw left rhyme on the big tight end 20 puts his head down. Still on his feet. Down close to the 15. He's like a big tree down there. Seth bryman 6 5 two 65 and he wouldn't go down. Yeah, Illinois does a great job right there. For an injured defensive player. He hurts somebody, too, I think. Down to the 16. So a gain of 9 on the fake to love and then the throw left to ryman and the line eye in the Carnot red zone while no score 5 47 to go in the hand. Again, it's really fun when you see a game like this and you can see Illinois who you have your tendencies all season and they go into bowl season and you kind of switch things up because everybody scouted you for a long, long time. So that time they bring Tim Ryan in motion. He comes outside the formation kind of motions back closer to the offensive line and a lot of times this year, Brian, that's been a runbook. So what Illinois does, they fake the handoff to Reggie love and then ryman instead of coming into the formation and crack blocking, he reverses back out. Mississippi state keys in on Reggie love Tommy is able to find tip in the flat. Another positive play this Illinois offense is cooking and they have some mojo right now. Emmanuel Forbes the corner. He was a semifinalist for the Thor for word, the one that Witherspoon was a finalist for. First team defense all SEC, national defensive player of the week had two picks against Texas a and M 6 interceptions for the year. A couple of pick 6s, I think. He's got three big 6s. He's already declared for the NFL. So he's their best defensive back. Right out there, good to see him walk off the field now. Illinois offensively doing a good job utilizing the entire field. They've not gotten the running game really going. But I think a lot of that is especially simply really keying in on that, trying to stop it but Tommy Devito, as we've seen all season just out there operating spreading the football around. Dwarves left favoring his right leg. No score yet in the second quarter. Three sacks today for Mississippi state. Second and one at the Mississippi state 16 for the line on the visiting white with the orange helmets, Devito gets them quickly McRae. To the line of scrimmage with a hand off to Josh up the middle he goes and he hurdles for a first down. Down close to the ten, maybe his knee went down about the 12 across the way. And moving the sticks for another amber and Illinois first down. You can see it with that play right there, Mississippi, blitzing, but the only way to get past that initial surge in Josh, the best hole of the day is able to move the sticks. The veto brings them up first and ten at the 12 of Mississippi state no score 5 O 9 to go first half. Isaiah Williams in motion. Here's the turn, give to Josh mccray. Breaks the tackle in trips out of bounds. Nice job by jet Johnson the will linebacker. To get it, let's see where did he get one, all right? Yeah. All right, marquese checks into the tight end spot second and 9. Certainly within field goal range, Illinois has missed one today. This to be state got intercepted at the goal line. Those have been the two scoring chances for either team and a scoreless game. Four 45 and counting on the Raymond James stadium big screen to our left right next to the pirate ship. Cow bells are ringing, mccray is in. Second and 9 Devito hands it off coming the other way as Isaiah Williams. He's inside the 5 and he almost scored. He got down to the three as they fainted one way right and left and Isaiah Williams exciting number one putting on a show today. That's a great vision by Isaiah because he was trying to get outside the home wasn't there, Mississippi state was flowing hard to the outside. He cuts it back in and he's able to get really close. He picks up 8 there. It's going to bring up third down and one. Rolling on the field is the runner with sort of the line to gain. It's third down. Now they say he is the guard side third one I want to get a first down without a touchdown. Heading towards the Mississippi state end zone. That section not very full. Mostly orange. I think we got about number 60 40 70 30 in the crowd. Mccree is the single back. Bird and one at the three of Mississippi state, Devito, under center is going to run in her head. He is close to the goal line. There's 70 ahead. It is the first down. I do believe QB sneak. I love it, Brian. We haven't seen that much again. If you remember against Wisconsin, Illinois big win. At the beginning of Big Ten points, having a veto three Russian touchdowns is able to convert the first there. And I say, hey if it ain't broke, no pitch it. Go back to the well and Mississippi state gives you that same alignment. Forbes is back in. All right, the line I first and goal at the Mississippi state to no score three 41 to go in the half. Marching bands beginning to file their way onto the field. Davina with Reggie lob to his right is in the gun. Man in motion is Isaiah Williams. Here is the give to Reggie love trying to surge ahead he shoved back. May have lost the yard. It'll be second and goal Illinois at that spot. Russell. Number 9 devonta Russell, the big defensive end. Choppy here in these situations in the games that they've won. They've done really well in short yardage situations in other games that they've lost. I think of Indiana, I think that we should state they haven't been able to win these opportunities. So here first down and gold balls still on the two. Let's go. Second and goal of the Mississippi state to love is in there. Extra tight ends. Everybody in tight, ryman, Washington lined up short to the last second in goal at the two no gain. Here is the Vito on a keeper. He's in touchdown. Touchdown. I love it. I love

"Stop for Mississippi state. Why is running well today? Yeah, I run it well and they're getting him the ball I love the game plan. Three receivers to the left single back set Reggie love fake to him throw left Washington catch 25 bounces off the tackler hurdles the man jumps ahead to the 30 hold onto that football and they shove him back at about the 28 may give him forward progress there. Got about 5, let's see. Yeah, I think I need to get first to get the first down. That's the question. Yeah. And he did. I think he had it and then lost it going backwards and it got it again, but Illinois liking what they're seeing in terms of numbers on the outside as they grow a lot of these quick screens. It means they have a numbers advantage, or basically states play a little bit soft there. Tommy Devito, as he has all year, just operating the offensive efficient hammered Illinois sponsoring our first downs all season for the align I single back set. This is Reggie lop. Runs to the outside across the 30. Tries to turn the corner 35 40 in out of bounds and a first down Richards in the corner and chases the amount of bound, but Reggie just kept probe in that line. Finally found the corner around the right end. Yeah, it's a really nice run by Reggie love he bends it all the way back to the far side and as you said it sets up a defender on the outside pizza to the outfit. Pizza. Reggie love is really come on. The last three or four games of the season. Yeah, Reggie 276 yards coming in at the touchdown of a northwestern. First and ten Illinois. At their own 40, no score 1140 to go in the first half. Back to past Devito short drops to raise the field. Now he's gonna pump it now he's gonna throw in caliman open across the way. Isaiah Williams midfield and he's got another Illinois first down. Into Mississippi state territory. And about the bulldog 47. And that's a head he played by Tommy Devito, mister state dropping 7 only Russian four. It's good protection Tom and looks to take off and run and that lane gets closed up and sees Isaiah Williams in the far flat is able to find him gets the ball to the playmaker and Isaiah gets the first. Isaiah Williams 5 catches 52 yards along of 21, got it to the Mississippi 47. Across midfield on the reliant west wall logo, Devito is Zayn legon to Illinois with another Ameren first down fake to mccray. Now a throw deep right and incomplete over pat

"State is rushed for 7. Tommy Devito 5 of 6. And Will Rogers 5 of 11 for 43 yards. And a 13 yard pass play but couldn't do anything with it after that. The line I do not get called for roughing the punter from their own 13 to veto is in the gun. Gives it to his tailback Reggie love trying to carry tacklers up around the 15. They still don't have him down. Not sure they ever got him down. And about the 15 he gets a couple. Yeah, it's pretty tough to let him in there. For Reggie love that time just kind of turns into a little bit of a rugby scrum. They wind up getting yards out of it. Well, this Illinois rushing attack is going to have to get itself on track. Again, we haven't seen Tommy run that much over the past few weeks of the regular season. Maybe they pull that out, but it's good to see again, number zero back out on the field. Checks in. A line I are second and 8 from their own 15, two 26 to go, no score here in the reli a quest ball. Back to pass pump fake DaVita. Now he throws it away. Looks like he was pumped faking it to somebody down there and then marques came back and then the ball just sailed out of bounds. Yeah, it looked like a miscommunication. It was pat Ryan and marques over there in Emmanuel Forbes number 13, Mississippi best corner. He's already declared for the draft, but decided to play today 900 post weeks. But now Illinois are exactly where they don't want to be here, third down and 8 backed up in their own end. So these state does like to blitz as Martin's pointed out third and 8 Illinois from their own 15. Two 19 to go into scoreless first quarter. Devito clapping his hands. Snap back to Tommy. Here comes the rash. He throws over the head of pat Bryan at about the 25 incomplete. And the cowbells ring and they align a go three and out. Fourth and 8 from their own 15 and they'll have to kick it away. Trying to see if there's any wind today. It's a very gentle breeze. It's the time of the stadium, not much. Yeah, just look kind of like a misfire there by Tommy Devito. As pat Bryant was open, Mississippi dropped 8 that time. Not only is going to have to punch from the edge of their own end zone. The Griffin is back deep for Mississippi stated his own 45 Robertson to kick it away this year averaged about 39 yards a kick. Got a little better in the second half of the season after his shaky start, rush on a bump into him. He gets it away. Nice high kick. Griffin back to get into his own 30 and the Gunners are down there to knock him down. Shy of the 40 yard line. Great coverage. Juan Martin, Tyler strain and others. And Mississippi will start first and ten at their own 40 with two O two to go in the first quarter still no score. "About to get the ball back for the first time. No score 1248 first quarter. Here's the kick away George opolis with a line drive kick one of the up man with a catch. At the 35 yard line and runs with a head to the 36th. We've got Hank Brady. Yep. I think it was 80. With the return. So we're underway. Again, they align with no chase brown who all he did was rush for 1600 yards. He's out Sidney Brown. Of course out and Devin weatherstone is out. We understand true that Bryan heiss hour. Will not play today. Randy align I go to work. First and ten at their own 36 Tommy Devito. 14 family members down here to watch me play in Tampa, a man in motion Isaiah Williams. Goes behind Devito, play action to love. Looks the throw time to throw. Now he's going to run. And he's going to get thrown for a long. Lost the yard back at about the 34 yard line, maybe two. It'll be second and 12 and nothing opened up there in the secondary. Yeah, they're trying to run play action and send a couple of receivers deep in Casey Washington but not able to get open. Now the only way going hurry up. Hurry up mode, second and 12 from their own 34, no score first quarter, throw left off across the way, Casey Washington across the 40 and shut down the bounds across the way. And about the 41 yard line, it'll be third and about 5 three Illinois Devito. Mentioned 15 touchdowns four interceptions, 2300 yards, a 136 yards throwing. Up and Evanston a month ago. Now in early January, no score Raymond James stadium. The airline I going for it on third and 5 and they ring the cowbells across the wave. Devito in the gun. A lot of guys on the line of scrimmage. Now back, throw to the right and may have been knocked down. Incomplete. That's the 40 yard line and the airline I will give it back to Mississippi state. Yeah, I think that was Randy Charleston number 5 is that we're going to hand up. They're trying to find a receiver down here in the near flat timing to be able to just not able to get it out there without the defensive line to get his hand on it, but interesting Illinois they're running some RPOs. I think they tried to take a shot on that first play, but then they just kind of given what the Mississippi state bulldog defense would allow them and hunting. Well, the bulldog sent a man deep back about their own 20 yard line. One guy that is not available to them in the return game is Zambian Thomas he entered the portal. He's really good. Kick away by Robertson just does get it away. Griffin will watch it bounce and it'll take an Illinois roll down inside the 20. And close to the 15 yard line Mississippi state will start there, no score. They'll have a first and ten and with that we go to break here on this January 2 and Tampa. No score Illinois and Mississippi state on the busey bank. A lot of Sports Network from ler field. At the University of Illinois east college of business, we aren't business as usual. Kevin Connolly was my first, but that was kind of like, I didn't know him. It was a cold dude on euphoria. That kid was no joke. I don't want to spoil anything. I mean, if you're a thoria fan, you've seen it. The final episode, right? Where this kid is, his character is a very young man who is growing up in the drug trade and worked alongside his essentially his older brother, right? More or less, more or less. And in the finale, when they've been ratted out by a fellow fellow guy in the trade, ashtray was having none of it. No, he was ready for war. He was ready for he was ready for war. He's also in season three of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. I would say this Ryan, if you take Tommy Devito, Joe Pesci from Goodfellas, you make him like a younger guy, but sitting like today's world, you'd probably have that mentality, like a kid who just don't care about tomorrow and is down for whatever, man. No, he was, right? There's conversation piece out there around the idea of whether or not his character is really gone or not. By all means, it looked like I don't see how he's not. That kid's got a great future, man. It seems like his head's on straight, you know, his mind is here with him. I mean, I asked him, I asked him some questions about what the importance of what he's doing and what it means and where his head is at with all of it. And so, you know, for somebody who I had a moment, an opportunity to speak with his mom here after the break. And she talked about just the world they grew up in. He's a twin. I didn't know that. Oh, wow. He's a twin. He's got a younger younger sister who's, I think, 8, she said. So, I mean, he's been born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. And continues to do great things. Pretty cool to be up alongside sly Stallone. I had an opportunity to meet Stallone when I was working out at this gym here in LA. He popped in from time to time and be part of it. He told us the secret to looking jacked on film is you only work out three parts of your body. You work your tries, your buys, and your back, pretty much shoulders. That's all you would ever do. Pull ups, everything like that. No need to look at his legs at any point in film, you know? That's how he's extended it. And it's fun to watch him. It's funny to see him in this role because you just know him as iconic as rocky, right? There's a bit of rocky in it in him in the way he goes about his business with javon in this role. So all right, that was last segment. We are about to finish the show here. We're in our last segment. Wanted to kind of get back to the NFL side of things. In your news of the day in the first segment of the show, we just couldn't quite get to the Jameis Winston injury. Yesterday too. The conversation around that, what that means for the New Orleans states, right? Moving on way from Sean Payton, his head coach. James Winston coming back from the injury signing with this team again this year. Dennis Allen taking over. They have had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers number in the regular season, right? Tom Brady's only four in the regular season against this New England saints team now. Most important piece in all this, you've got the one win that he needed in the playoff game, right? So, with the additions that wide receiver, Jarvis Landry, Chris olave, and Michael Thomas, making the return, Alvin Kamara, offensive, we know how good they are defensively. Jameis Winston was 5 and two last year before his injury took over. What is this team like with Jameis Winston and the helm? Do they have a real shot of fighting the bucks for the division? And without him, is it going to be a real difficult year at Dennis Allen's first season? That's the biggest question in all of this. The more I hear about the injury, it sounds like it's just a sprained ankle. Glad it happened early. It wasn't probably going to play much in the preseason. I think the consistency reminds me a ton of what happened in Buffalo where Brian dabel went to the Giants. They promoted and kept Ken Dorsey on staff as a new offensive coordinator. Of course he's going to make it his own. But there's going to be a familiarity for Josh Allen. Same in New Orleans, right? Coach Carmichael, who's been there, who's been with them, who knows what Sean Payton has been able to do. Now, hey, don't get me wrong, Sean Payton may be the most dynamic schemer and play caller there was over the last decade in the NFL, some of the things he's been able to do with a depleting depreciating item and Drew Brees later in his career. And doing some of the things he does with album Camara. That's a big part of, I think, the success for Jameis Winston, that consistency and what this team looks like. Over the next few days, I kind of want to go through maybe some predictions and where we think the conferences, divisions in particular are going. But to end the show, fortuitously wearing the Los Angeles chargers. Oh, you know, sweater today. Hoodie. Let's talk about this division a little bit. "Let's go up. Let's keep going. Going a bit further down and looking at a horse who I think could well be an all weather specialist in Tommy Devito, suspect this horse. Well, I think it's more than a big suspicion. He's obviously had his share of problems because after his run at doncaster on the 5th of July 2020, we then didn't see him for a mammoth 481 days. And he came back in a handicap at kempton last October, won that, he then was given another couple of months off and won a handicap on the all weather again, subtle, run a perfectly good race, another couple of months after that. Are you seeing a pattern here? Another couple of months after that, when he ran second that kempton, he then backed up after just three weeks at linfield. Put in a poor effort. But he had excuses that day didn't have a good draw. He was trapped wide, he was dropped out a long way off the pace, giving him a pass for that absolutely. He then backed up again just two weeks later. And this is a horse who we've been seeing since his mammoth brake has been having a couple of months between his races. Actor began two weeks later. Came out on the turf at doncaster, didn't run very well, prepared to forgive that. Maybe turf just isn't for him, but the key thing with Tommy Devito now is we haven't seen him since the 30th of April. So we've got that nearly two month breaking again and a two month break is something that this horse seems to thrive on. So coming out of stall two with Tom mark on the board for Charlie hill's ten to one with kaluki, about tell me the video who's got that 56 day break and of course, of course, and distance winner. Let's take it. Let's take it. Tell me Devito to kick things off in style. Right. Our next partner has a product that I use literally every day. I started taking AG one because I wanted more energy. "But I mean, that's been an expectation in Pittsburgh, so I don't know the fans would be happy with that. Yeah. You know what It might be the first year where everybody around here says, you know, nobody ever gave us a chance, And actually, they might be telling the truth. This is a year to have Hines Ward back to sing that song. I mean, we say that every year, But even though we go into every year here in Pittsburgh, looking at the predictions, and the Steelers are predicted to go 12 and four there's not as many people saying that this year rightfully so. You know, I joke the entire offseason at the Steelers would go 881 because, of course, Mike Tomlin is contractually bound to never have a losing season, but he has had a couple of eight win season, so I just assume they're going to tie the 17th game. So if you keep that streak going But I don't see them being much better than that. I do think I was a little bit more optimistic. Coming out of the preseason before this rash of injuries this past week, the T J Watch situation held over I got a little bit more optimistic. I think there are nine win team. I think that might be enough to slide in might be enough to slide in as the seventh or sixth, even wild card in the A F. C, Uh, dance your questions specifically with Steelers fans should be happy with this year. As if they sneak in as a wild card and pull off an upset in the first round of the playoffs. If not, it's five straight years without a playoff victory, which believe it or not, has not happened in this city since pre immaculate reception days. Did you watch the Syracuse game last weekend? Yes, folks, Tim and I went to Syracuse were all over the place. Sorry. It happens all the time. We bring guests on here. And do we have enough faith in Tommy DeVito actually this season to keep this team afloat. Well, I might have more faith in the Steelers offensive line or backup secondary players than I do, and DeVito. But not only did I see it, Sal, I was there. I didn't know that awesome man. Yeah, I was there. My girlfriend is in Ohio grad. Alright. It's my first time joining her and Athens. And, um, well, saying that Ohio definitely has Syracuse to the Instagram right now. Court Street beats the pants off of Marshall Street. I mean, we may have won the football game, but I lost the drinking game. I can guarantee you that going going into Saturday, She beat me silly with all the bars that she used to bar hop through and asked him during her time there. And for people who haven't been to Athens. Buckle up. If you go because court Street is everything its reputation lives up to be and more you've been on Chippewa, right? I mean, it's like it's even beyond like Cipolla, of course, or what No ship was a much better analogy. Okay, Marshall Street is becoming Marshall streets. What? Four bars now? Yeah, it was way different when we were there. I was DJ at Maggie's on the hill we had We had Chuck's to go underneath. That's all gone, man. Yes, of course, turns four bars when you step onto the street and make the first left. Okay, like that's very funny. Everywhere you turn around the corner, and then you just keep going, so I really enjoyed my time in Athens as far as Syracuse because what's the spread on the two point underdogs and the new dome against Russia? I think so. That's right. Yeah, that's right. I know. But you know what I mean. Hey, cell. I'm going to be honest with you. My biggest concern about that game is I don't know how the carrier dome Uh, well, how the players will react in the carrier Don't actually having Eric conditioning. It might be thrown off by that first time ever, which is amazing. Hey, the last thing is some news that came out of Pittsburgh yesterday..

"Theo Jackson leads that defense Now 11 tackles last week and again, Tennessee losing a ton of players once, Uh, you know, the coaching move was being made transport Porter will forget it. They lost a lot of quality players. Andy Esko. What about a Tennessee and pit now? If it's over three, it's tough to take. Pittsburgh and lay better than a field goal on the road. I think it's going to be a very competitive game. I'm staying away from it. I respect Brad as far as that goes, but I'll wait and see because my thing is just feeling like Hendon Hooker to me is still a player that's very explosive. And so you have Joe Milton, who comes off a decent game for Tennessee. But if he struggles, I think Handan hookers in there we'll wait and see Pittsburgh. Very physical team. Who do you like? Would you lay the 3 3.5, or would you stay away from this one now? I'm going to. I'm going to monitors and see if it even goes up to four and take Tennessee hyper lost a lot of players that he thought he might be inheriting when he took the coaching job at the end of last season. You're still talking about SEC athletes at a, uh, legacy type program that this is not the Tennessee of the Peyton Manning Days or the Johnny Majors Days from centuries ago, But there's still NCC athletes going up against mid tier HCC athletes from Pittsburgh program that has never really achieve the kind of success under Narduzzi. That was Expected, and I think what he was what the assistant I think at Michigan State when he got the job at the pit if I recall correctly, but he's not been able to achieve the kind of success so I've got an NTC underdog at home against a team. That is a nice team. You know there. What are they? They're They're an eight and five Seven and six type team. Not that Tennessee is going to win all that much because they are playing a much more difficult commerce. But just like the athletic talent of Tennessee matching up against Pittsburgh, and you're going to give me points at home, you know if this game will pick him probably stay away. If Tennessee were favored by four or five, I might consider pit but with going the other way. I'm on Tennessee a couple more, I'll throw action at the beginning of the year. I looked at this game. I probably never would have thought I'd be throwing it actually. But both teams are one and both teams looked solid in their opener. Syracuse on the road in Athens, beating Ohio 2099 much to the chagrin of my nephew, of course, graduating there in Athens and then Rutgers, the Jersey kids 61 14 blowing out temple. No video coming up big as second year now overcoming from Nebraska was pretty solid through for 1 38 and a touchdown rushed for another 71 on nine carries. Again, and there's this Fatty Fatty Kazi none this big three sacks for Rutgers last week and had nine tackles for Syracuse. Very impressive going on the road winning like they didn't really shut down Ohio's offense, Tommy DeVito, Nothing special Only through for 92. He rushed for 49 in a touchdown. Freshman running back Sean Tucker was the workhorse 25 carries 1 81 in a touchdown. And very impressive there. Michael Jones had 10 tackles and Syracuse did not get any sacks in that game, so it'll be interesting here to see who wins this game. The queues at home. Rutgers, though something about that team with Siano at the helm, and I respect Dino Babers, although they slipped the last couple years, but I like Rutgers. I think Rutgers is legit. I think they've got players. I think they're keeping the jersey Boys home. And if anyone can do it at Xian Oh, so I'm going to look at Rutgers. I've been back and forth on this game because I did have Syracuse last week against Ohio. I thought that it was a good spot for Babers, of course, familiar with some of the players from the From the American comfort or at least the type of recruits that they they get there. And they did control that game against Ohio. Never really let him back in the game, and Rutgers will not quite facing the same test. But you can only be who's in front of you, and they beat a very badly, but I do like pianos coach He was the one who put the Rutgers program on the map a decade or so ago, and he's come back, and they have already made an impact with his Presents the second time around, so probably won't play the game lead to Syracuse of that line goes up to three. But I wouldn't be surprised if Rutgers it just takes care of business, and I think they are a little bit more advanced as far as their roster and experience is concerned, then Syracuse at this point, she makes that much of a difference. All right, last one, I'll throw out your Toledo and Notre Dame. The line. At 17 last I saw and I got Toledo plus 20 early in the week. Uh, let me see, um, trying to see if I can find there It is. It is at 17. There are some there's 1 16.5 so pretty much 17 across the board. 55 the total from South Bend and Jack Cone was solid. There's no question to transfer from Wisconsin, four touchdowns did have one interception threw for 3 66. They had trouble running the ball, though Kyron Williams 18 carries only 42 yards. Now he did received six receptions for 83 another touchdown out of the backfield. But the running game was really not there for Notre Dame. They're fortunate they got the W in overtime against Florida State. Meanwhile, Toledo Only played Norfolk State. 49 10, Carter Bradley, Uh, you know, just in there, just throwing the ball a little bit eight for 12, 1 83 and a touchdown And then Dequan Finn got in there and worked his magic, throwing the ball a little bit and rushing the ball. Uh, this Toledo team is pretty good. Callbacks are real solid. Running back out of the backfield. Brian Kobach, Maddox and King Good combination there as far as couple receivers, and Jones and Heinz had 14 tackles between them last week for the Rockets. It's a good, solid Toledo team..

"I wonder what you think is successful season for Pittsburgh would look like or even like what Pittsburgh fans would think that looks like because from my seat like I would think, all right if the Steelers make the playoffs, that's a pretty good result for the team that they have on the field. But I mean, that's been an expectation in Pittsburgh, so I don't know the fans would be happy with that. You know, I joke the entire off season at the Steelers would go 881 because, of course, Mike Tomlin is contractually bound to never have a losing season, but he has had a couple eight win season, So I just assume they're going to tie the 17th game so we can keep that streak going. But I don't see them being much better than that. I do think I was a little bit more optimistic. Coming out of the preseason before this rash of injuries this past week and the T J watch situation held over. I got a little bit more optimistic. I think there are nine win team. I think that might be enough to slide in might be enough to slide in as the seventh or sixth, even a wild card in the A F. C, uh, to answer your question specifically with Steelers fans should be happy with this year. As if they sneak in as a wild card and pull off an upset in the first round of the playoffs. If not, it's five straight years without a playoff victory, which believe it or not, has not happened in this city since pre immaculate reception days. Couple of things non Steelers related before I let you go. Tim Tim Ben's joining us, You can follow him on Twitter at Tim Ben's. That's Where the G at Tim Ben's P G H first. Did you watch the Syracuse game last weekend? Yes, folks, Tim and I went to Syracuse were all over the place. Sorry. It happens all the time. We bring guests on here. And do we have enough faith in Tommy DeVito actually this season to keep this team afloat. Well, I might have more faith in the Steelers offensive line or backup secondary players than I do with the veto, But not only did I see it sell. I was there. Oh, I didn't know that awesome man. Yeah, I was there. My girlfriend is in Ohio grad. All right. It was my first time joining her in Athens. And we're seeing that Ohio definitely has Syracuse to the Instagram right now. Court Street beats the pants off of Marshall Street. I mean, we may have won the football game, but I lost the drinking game. I can guarantee you that going going into Saturday. She beat me silly with all the bars that's used to bar hop through in Athens during her time there. And for people who haven't been to Athens. Buckle up. If you go because court Street is everything its reputation lives up to be and more you've been on Chippewa, right? I mean, it's like it's even beyond like chip alive. Of course, there was no ship was a much better analogy. Okay, what Marshalls has become mean Marshall streets. What? Four bars now? Yeah, it was way different when we were there. I was DJ at Maggie's on the hill we had We had Chuck's to go underneath. That's all gone, man. Yeah. Course turns four bars when you step onto the street and make the first left. Okay, look, that's very funny. Everywhere you turn around at the corner, and then you just keep going, so I really enjoyed my time in Athens as far as Syracuse because what's the spread on the What? Two point underdogs in the new dome against Russia? Yeah, I think so. That's right. Yeah, That's right. I know. But you know what I mean. Hey, Sal. I'm going to be honest with you. My biggest concern about that game is I don't know how the carrier dome Uh, well, how the players will react and the carrier don't actually having Erkan Dish inning, they might be thrown off by that first time ever, which is amazing. Hey, the last thing is some news that came out of Pittsburgh yesterday. I guess kind of just It just came out of nowhere. Sidney Crosby undergoing successful wrist. Surgery, and he's going to miss what? Six weeks? Um, where did this come from? And what's been the reaction there. Well, the reaction. I mean, this is a great news dump by the Penguins. My God, throw it on a day with a T. J Watt thing is going out of control your leading up to Steelers game. Um, yeah, The reaction has been Caught off guard. Because there have been so little talk about it. And some of the reaction initially taking the Penguins out behind the woodshed shed and saying, Well, why didn't you get this done earlier? Being a little bit more sympathy for them. And that, um You know that? I think they're trying to make it sound like, well, it's just, you know, we thought it was a nagging injury. That was just part of playing hockey because it's been around for two years. You know, they bumped up the timeline to say a year, then maybe what people would have been more on board. People are asking right now. Why didn't you get it done after you lost to the Islanders in the first round? You had plenty of time. I guess why I'm sympathetic is you know, just having you know, having had a surgery kind of near the same place is more my thumb than the rest Easy. You think it's okay? You can get by with it. You can get by with it. And then all of a sudden your grip is gone. And it's like, Oh, no, I've got to get surgery. And maybe it got to that point was said where, you know, he literally just couldn't grip the stick anymore. It takes after after the concussion. It has taken a long time for Crosby to go to the bench was some injuries because I think Weird way. He's trying to get back. Time lost when when those concussions hit, and I bet you that kind of came into play here were absolutely positively don't want to have surgery. I don't want to slow down my officers in training. And then it came back to bite him because the county there's got too deep. Tim, always a pleasure. I really appreciate it. We go way back. And I really thanks for coming out and doing this. I know you got a lot of work ahead of you for being the first guest ever on the newly formed extra point show with Salinger. I'm going to send you like a Jason Supola signed book or something. Wait a minute. He wrote a book. No, I have no idea..
College Football Bets: Week 1
"On. Espn dot com chuck section. I've given them out daily wager. But you know we'll rip through a few here i want to start with. Ecu this numbers come down a little bit. They play thursday night against appalachian state and look. I think he's us live dog. Jay vermont talked about it as well. They have a bunch of veterans including senior quarterback and app. State's been a little shaky as well. And they have a new quarterback and chase. Bryce you might remember him. He played a key. Clemson then transferred to duke ten and a half a lot of points for team that always seems to pull games out of the hat and have crazy place at the end. I like myself getting double digits plus ten right now but still i would out jumping on on ec as long as you get double digits and maybe a little sprinkle on the money line. That could be some fun The came by actually liked the most Kinda scared about it and it's umass and everybody who listen to pod on a somewhat regular basis knows. I'm kind of the betting bully as humans. A frequent guest. Your calls me. I like to bet on bet against bad teams. Just just do it right. Like orioles season win total under. I've certainly bet against umass in the past but thirty eight is just way too many points. And i'll tell you why won't bell and umass went out and got a bunch of transfers. Their quarterback is a six foot five inch from from colorado like the university of and or colorado university of boulder. And they have two running backs that transferred in one from rutgers. So a team that was like. Fcs not too long ago or fcs quality has some real players and you only have to get thirty eight now pits good. But they're at tennessee. The following week nerd uzis not a guy who's going to run up the score. He's old school. Fourth quarter they'll bring in the is a little bit and on top of that. Probably the best handy angle. I have is the offense coordinator for pit is a guy named mark whipple. He's coached umass twice head coach. Also the most recent time was just a few years ago. This is not situation where he wants to embarrass his former program. Umass is a special place in his heart. Whipple's going to call off the dogs as well. So i just think if you can get about two touchdowns even if it's garbage time i think plus thirty eight is the play in. That game is crazy. As it sounds another game. I like is essentially a coin. Flip game and it syracuse minus one. And a half. you might remember. I've talked about it with jay motto. The over three in the win total. They're going to split time at quarterback. Babies made that announcement. I don't love it. I would prefer. Tommy devito to be the entire time but dual threat with michigan state. Sorry mississippi state transfer garrett schrader. They're just better at a lot of positions that ohio but most importantly syracuse addressed. Their offense align issues. There was a pathetic. Offense couldn't even average average about two hundred fifty yards per game. Not passing just total yards per game. The veto would be injured. A lot spent a lot of time on his back. If they're okay on the offensive line this is just a syracuse team. That's just better. No more frank. Solich at ohio. Bob cats will rotate. Quarterbacks curtis rourke. Who's obviously the brother of nathan rourke the former stud bob cats quarterback and then armani rogers transfer from unlv. Ohio's very good. They looked good last year against the too bad teams really bad teams in the mac akron bowling green. But i think use gets there which is better talent especially with vito healthy and maybe we hope and improved offensive line. Fourth play i want to talk about

"Strong on defense fares. Wanna take care of the ball. I wouldn't be shocked if they got a chance to win that game. All right in one team. That i know you like for the season which also like week one syracuse as well and this is a team you know little down last year but just a few years ago they beat clemson and almost beat him again lost by four. They had kind of an exciting offense wasn't the case last year but again kovic season things derailed for a lot of programs. And you like them here in week. One and the over three. If you can get there in all fairness i should say that i've been high on syracuse the past couple of years which doesn't really bode well for my reputation however they do still have. Tommy devito quarterback in the problem last year is they were just absolutely decimated offensive line. They had a transfer that they were counting on a left tackle. Who has ruled ineligible from florida right before the season started. They had a few injuries. And then you start having kobe defections and see them kind of got away from him but they got playmakers on offense. They got a former five star quarterback. Let's see what they can do. They're they're planning experience. I o r ohio team on the road which is never easy going console it but i think the more talented team wins back. Game week one. They atomic does the quarterback that you mentioned last year. Their offense was putrid average less than three hundred yards per game. I mean just think about all. The offense is in college football and think about under three hundred yards per game and just in that offense align was the big issue right but if they can. Yeah then you can veto upright and you can do you can do some somewhat impressive things in the bar. Separately loafer with win total three. So maybe maybe they get there and you like minus one against ohio on the road. Armagh man really good stuff as always. I know that but our listeners. Don't because it's the first time on the pot. Obviously so i'm glad that i was able to share your perspective on things and obviously it's all really excited for the football season. Thanks for having me on all right. That's gonna do it. Truth vs Hollywood
"Welcome to truth versus Hollywood I'm David, Chen and A. Truth versus Hollywood is look at films that are based on a true story, but we don't just talk about the film. We also talk about that true story. On this podcast will touch on what really happened. How that differs from the film and why and we're not just talking, heads will hear about the true story through interviews from experts, witnesses and people who were involved in it. It's both the real facts and the real facts are l. fix. What do you think that Joanna I loved it today Ridge? Today! We're talking about Martin. Scorsese's classic film Goodfellas Goodfellas is based on the book Wiseguy. Nicholas Pathology which, in turn is based on life of Mobster Henry Hill Hill was actually alive when the film came out and was very pleased with his film based on him, and as we'll talk about later, it definitely had an effect on his life. Pathology worked with Scorsese to write the screenplay and the film was. was a complete. It nominated for six Academy Awards and won one Joe Pesci for supporting actor. It's considered one of the best gangster movies of all times. If I put it on their list of one hundred years, one hundred movies and the Library of Congress decided that it was culturally important and added it to its preservation archives all right well. Let's get to the movie itself. It stars Ray Liotta. Hill Robert Deniro as Jimmy, the Gent Conway, who's based on Jimmy the Gent? Burke Joe Pesci as Tommy devito based on Tommy desimone Paul Sorvino Paul cicero based on Paul Vario and Lorraine Bracco as Henry's wife Karen Hill. Many real life figures at this movie was based off of an apparently Henry Hill ended up getting paid five hundred eighty thousand dollars because of the use of historian, this movie, which is a lot of money to pay to a mobster who has done very horrible things you know in watching this movie again. John Robinson one of the things that. I kind of realized you know or reflected on is the fact that we've been lost you decades seen so many movies about bad men, doing bad things, and that this movie kind of one of the prototypical examples of how they can be glorified an elevated in this. Movie makes that lifestyle look really glamorous while at the same time depicting some of the negative consequence lifestyle, but at the same time it does rubbed me the wrong way that like the people who are involved often are rewarded. We also saw this Martin. Scorsese's Will Wall Street as well. Similar dynamic, there so I'm kind of curious like as you're reflecting on your overall experience of watching the movie, and now that we know little bit more about what happened with the real life characters, and we're GONNA. Talk about it during the courses podcast like. How did it strike you that? This is based off of Real Person I. Think Scar says he couldn't have picked a better release. Go subject to to glum onto here than Henry Hill because though he is gangster and he's fully involved in this gangster life, he is a the likability of this character, which is really what's Cortesi was going for I've seen interviews. We talked about the nineteen thirty two scarface, which was the first time he ever saw. Gangsters depicted as really likable. When you Henry Hill. And he does terrible things, but he's a gangster who is a little squeamish. We see this the film and it's corroborated by true story of his life. He was violent crimes, but he wasn't a a mass murderer and You know the the charisma of him. I think is really important. He wasn't one of the most vicious people in this story. And so I think you're making good point that like. If you're GONNA choose an entry way into this world. Henry Hill is probably the ideal candidate in this case so. Well, the film opens with three men driving in a car, having a seemingly normal evening. It's then revealed that there is a captive in the trunk and than shortly after him, we mmediately get Henry's voiceover with the iconic line as far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster. It's one of the most. Openings and Awesome History Joanna Robinson after nearly three decades. How effective did you find this opening? Well, it's funny. I did not see I was eight years old when fellows came out, or maybe nine so I did not see it in theaters and I didn't see it until later in life and but by then it already seats into the culture because it was so iconic. You know there's. Maniacs good feathers, pigeon parody, and like all sorts of stuff, so I'm going to wear of the beats of it, even though the first exposure to goodfellas was. Is what you're saying. Thousand percent absolutely. But you know so by the time I had seen it. I had also seen so many things that had imitated it, and this is true of like so many of our great films like by the time you get around to watching it. Maybe you seen a bunch of people. Knock it off and so you're like well. How groundbreaking? Is this
