"Sports at 15 and 45 powered by maximus. Moving people and innovation forward. 1145, let's get back to wood fork. All right, on the 25th anniversary of the capitol's first game at the now Capital One arena, the caps went on the road for their most impressive win of the season. Here's produce again coming down the middle. He'll leave it for shot. The score. Oh my what a shot by Nick down on the track for the Alex a produce. John Walter with a call of the game winning score in a three two thriller endowed told NBC sports Washington. This was the most satisfying win of the year. Yeah. That was big. You know, I think we needed some positive to happen there. It's been a tough road trip and I don't think we played our best last game, lost some guys. So I think it was a really good team effort tonight. And he's referencing Martin Farrell vari who was placed on injured reserve today, Charlie lindgren was in net for the banged up Darcy Kemper and the caps out shot the oilers 50 to 30. They went one for three on the power play did the caps. Tom Brady added to his ridiculous legacy on Monday Night Football, he led the Buccaneers to a 1716 comeback victory over the saints and a crucial division matchup he threw the game winning touchdown pass with 8 seconds left to complete a 13 point fourth quarter comeback. Those are both personal bests and oh by the way he's led 44 fourth quarter comebacks almost one for every year of his existence. They watch it in commanders now on there by week. Ron Rivera shares a game plan. As we get into it, it's really about who we're getting ready for next. We got the Giants obviously and then after that, we've got three more games that are just as important. But we got to be ready for the Giants and I think that's a lot of the time will be spent. And the Giants game coming out of the by, rife with playoff implications, flex to the prime time Sunday Night slot in week 15. Rob wood fork WTO sports

"A shell of itself defensively as far as a overall season long body of work. So to your point, I don't think Dennis Allen is the guy for this job long term, I think he's kind of proven that to this point, but in this specific match up, he has been that dude. And he's continued to give Tom Brady in the Buccaneers offense, trouble the past few weeks. If you just look at the 5 matchups, Brady's one in four straight up and against the spread. And you start to think about week two, that match up the loan cover and win for the Buccaneers against Dennis Allen. It really wasn't Tom Brady suddenly solving Dennis Allen Stevens, the saints just turned it over 5 times. And what was a little bit different in the first four meetings was that Dennis Allen was able to get pressure on Tom Brady. And in the first four matchups, the saints got pressure on Brady at a 12% higher rate than what Brady had been pressured during his entire bucks tenure. That changed a little bit because Tampa changed their offense in that meeting. They got the ball out of Tom Brady's hands super quick. It was a 2.3 second release time. The saints only had an 11% pressure rate. That has dwindled a little bit this season for the saints in general. But you did watch Dennis Allen realized they weren't getting to Tom Brady, and he adjusted his defense back. And he went with more coverage concepts, knowing the Buccaneers at that point had to beat up wide receiver room and that approach really worked again. It didn't work on the scoreboard, but Brady ended that game with a 27 QBR back in week two. He was quarterback 29 out of 33 in EPA plush completion percentage above expectation. It's very fair to say in these 5 meetings. Dennis Allen is really, really giving Tom Brady Fitz now Tristan wurf's is out for Tampa at right tackle and the Buccaneers are starting just two of their 5 projected linemen that they had penciled in this off season. He also have the same defense. It's actually trending better metrically. Weeks one through 7, New Orleans was 20th in EPA per play allowed against the schedule of offense is that ranked 18th inefficiency. From week 8 onward though, the saints defense is tenth in EPA per play out against an above average schedule of offenses and they haven't gotten all their parts back defensively yet. So that's something to keep an eye on as well here. We kind of mentioned Marshawn Lattimore. He's returned to practice, started practicing last week. He's been limited all this week. Never got in a full. So let's see if he plays tonight. There was some optimism. But I don't think it's like a done deal that Marshawn Lattimore goes. Bradley Roby, finally got in a limited on Saturday. Let's see if that's enough to clear the concussion protocol PJ Williams is out. We know the saints traded away Chauncey Gardner. So you're starting to see the same secondary. I don't know if it's actually going to be what we think it might be tonight and just, again, based on trending play, it's probably a Chris Godwin, especially if Tom is getting rid of the ball quickly. Godwin's really looked like he's fully back now at this point after ACL surgery and you just look at his target share. It's the second most since week 6. Saints have been pretty vulnerable, defending the slot. Again, it's not the most fun breaking down a game that's moved three three and a half points. And it'll be interesting to see where this ultimately closes I do think we're going to get back to at least three and a half year based upon some of these injuries that will ultimately unfold here in the next 7 hours until kick-off. A busy Monday morning in the National Football League, by the way, as well, a little bit of breaking news, and you do wonder pain if someone in the Bay Area will pick up the phone. Baker Mayfield officially released by the Carolina Panthers. I wonder if he becomes a fit for San Francisco if you're talking about Brock purdy or a player with a little bit more experience that has a track record of being decent with a run heavy offensive attack. Yeah, that'll be interesting to monitor, maybe that's a better fit than Josh Johnson. I do think this is Brock purdy's job to lose at least over the next handful of weeks knowing his familiarity with the system and again. I think we maybe have some thoughts to his play at Iowa state and we know he doesn't have the strongest arm, but he's been in this system and he can operate it a little bit. Again, through a couple of interception yesterday that were somewhat costly. But again, he goes in the game, his team's trailing. Comes in called off the bench and gets his team away. I think Brock is Brock purdy's job to lose, but maybe they make that call to Baker Mayfield. We'll see. One last thing on the Monday Night Football game because I know ESPN will circulate some of these numbers. It'll be a prominent talking point from now until kick-off. So we'll get them out of the way for all of our loyal listeners first. Andy Dalton hasn't exactly been great in prime time. 6 and 20 straight up in the last 26 games that he's played under the bright lights, 34 touchdown passes 24 interceptions, a 79 passer rating. He has lost 7 straight games in prime time to 8 plus point to piece. Last win coming back in 2018 against the Baltimore Ravens. His record from a straight up standpoint is the worst since the merger with a minimum of 25 starts. 9 and 7 ATS in his career during that particular span. All things to factor into your handicapping equation, like you said, it'll be interesting to see where some of the sharper shops that have gotten down to that three flat ultimately do close before we get to kick off tonight at 8 15 eastern. Any other words of wisdom, a little tidbit, nuggets, things that you would like to pass along as I know we've gone long for a Monday morning. We seem to always say that like a broken record around here. Carolina Panthers down to three and a half. Wow. It started the momentum last night and it's already on the move. Go figure. All right, four pain inside or follow him on Twitter at Payne insider. I'm Todd fuhrman. You can follow me there. Most importantly, follow the podcast at bet the board pod. Best of luck with all of your Monday Night Football investments wherever you're handicapping takes you.

"First career start will be against Tom Brady. He's gonna be a touchdown favorite. Of course it is. And it will be, it will be all we'll be talking about is how young he is, how old Brady is, all of Brady's. Brady's. These stats compared to purdy staff. When Brady did such and such. And it'll be the biggest difference in the history of the NFL between a quarterback with fill in the blank and another starting quarterback with fill in the blank, but one thing is chronic crazy. Purdy's not too far behind from Brady's draft position, is he? No. What was purdy? Two 60 something? Last pick. I don't know what that with compensatory picture changes every year. Yeah, I don't know. We know what Brady's is. Pretty V Brady next week. Wow. Good to see. That always goes back to what you said, Chris, these quarterback matchups. We say purdy versus Brady, but Nick Bosa is not coming after purdy. He's coming after that's right. Tom Brady, correct. I know that. I know you know I'm just gonna pick two 62. Well, guess what? I'm not betting against Tom Brady next week. You're gonna take the bucks? Yeah, absolutely. He's taking the bucks and the Chargers. All right, I'll take the dolphins in the forty-niners. Let's go. "We know, have been to a Super Bowl before, and there's Christian McCaffrey added to that mix now. And a left tackle who's going to the Hall of Fame one day, who gets blown up on Twitter because Trent Williams is tipping plays and everybody else who's an expert on offensive line and saying, it doesn't matter. He can basically tell you they're running behind me and still do his job successfully. So, coach him up, let's see how it goes and maybe Brock purdy can etch his name in NFL lore that is not an overreaction. What else do you have Chris? No, Brock purdy is gonna be a touchdown favorite over Tom Brady this week. That I can't believe, but I can just show you a little bit about the rest of that team. Yeah. What else you got? If I was building an SGP for this NFC south showdown, I know I'd be including the saints getting the points as this Tampa Bay team has been unable to generate any sort of running game and saints head coach Dennis Allen knows how to defend Tom Brady, so I'd include an under on the Buccaneers team

Binance Said to Waver on FTX Deal

"It is amazing how quickly things can change in this space. And that is what we're going to spend a good chunk of today talking about. Now, to get you caught up, all sorts of stuff went down yesterday in which sandbach and freed of FTX said that they had come to an agreement with CZ a binance for binance to acquire FTX dot com, pending, do diligence on the part of binance. Now, according to a source today, binance is leaning against getting this deal done. They took a look under the hood and it's not looking good according to a source talking to coin desks the analysis. This is a highly fluid situation, something that has captured the markets and mainstream attention as FTX and binance inch toward a possible takeover. There's so much to go into on this one. Really crazy stuff has been going on in the trading world in the past 48 to 72 hours. But here we are now on the cusp of possible deal, but then again, maybe not. I'm going to throw this to Wendy for her initial thoughts on this whole binance FTX thing, which is just gone crazy and so quick. What's up? So there is definitely a lot to talk about here. There's a lot to break down. I want to come in with this from a business perspective. Business perspective means the LOI, the intent to purchase FTX or to acquire, to save them, is just an intent. It doesn't mean that it's actually going to happen. A lot of people are complaining, especially on Twitter saying that binance kind of started this whole thing by fighting FTT, et cetera. But realistically, that might not be the actual case. CZ did put a memo out a statement out indicating what kind of happened. We don't know the exact story because we're not in internally. One thing I will say from a business perspective, it might not make sense after they do their due diligence process to actually acquire FTX. Another thing that's very important to note is FTX U.S. and FTX official or FTX international are completely two different companies. Right now, FTX U.S. is safe to use. However, people should still consider getting their cryptocurrency off of the exchange. I did that yesterday

Nick Cannon 'To Pay Nearly $3M a Year in Child Support

"Nick Cannon, according to a family law attorney, this is just an estimate. This is not necessarily he don't have the evidence or the records from the courts to back this up, but just based on the net worth and the income of Nick Cannon, he has to pay roughly $3 million per year in child support for 12 kids. Can you believe that? I'm telling you, I'll never I'll never back down from this point. I think the way our system of child support and all this stuff is run is a scam, it is a scam. And I just tell you guys, and I don't want to speak too much about my own personal stuff 'cause I don't want to get in trouble in the court of law. But you know, there are certain things when you go to court, they make you pay a crap ton of money. I'm paying thousands of dollars and we haven't even gone to trial. And they forced me to do a parenting class for four hours. I don't have four hours to do this class, but you know what? They force you to do it. Mandate you do it, and it's not free. They make you pay for it. They make you pay to do a parenting class. You guys got to be kidding me.

"Gas wasn't no $5 when he took office. He drove the gas price up to $5 and even higher in many cases in California. You got people paying almost $10 a gallon. Donald Trump had the gas lower. And you got to think Donald Trump did this in a pandemic. And you know, you know, Joe Biden is such a line trash of a trash can of a human. They all lie. Donald Trump inherited a pandemic. I would call it a plandemic. He inherited that. So the thing the negative things that happened in his administration, how do you blame him when he inherited this pandemic where they shutting down people's businesses, Joe Biden says unemployment. We created 400,000 jobs. No, no, you didn't. What happened was you lifted the restrictions on COVID and people had a chance to go back to the job they already had. You didn't create no new jobs at a thin air. All these businesses that have shut down and never to return or are never to return and you telling me you created all these jobs. These people are lying. Kari Lake Leads Katie Hobbs in Latest Polling Numbers

"The trashiest candidate that I have ever seen in my life is definitely Katie Hobbs. She literally runs from a debate. She can not articulate herself. She has no values for the Arizona people. And Carrie Lake is drowning her politically. Loopholes have come out and has Carrie Lake and 54% and Katie Hobbs at 43% giving her 11% advantage and you know when a Republican has 11% prevented advantage. That's like a 20% advantage. You know, she's probably blowing her out of the water. However, this is what I want to tell you guys. Do not let your foot off the gas. Put your foot on the gas pedal to the metal. I want you to stomp it till you twist your ankle. I want you to hit the pedal on the floor that hard. Because we need to run up the score, it's not enough for us to win. We need to landslide these people. It's not enough for you to look back and say, I'll carry us up, you know, by living points. It's totally fine. We're going to win. So if I got away for three hours in the line, then I'm not going to wait, you know, we got this in the bag. Do not believe the lies. They manipulate posts sometimes. It may be actually closer than this. I don't think it is, but it could possibly be closer than what they're projecting, which is like voter suppression. They make you feel like you got it in the bag so you don't show up. And then what do they do? They reveal something at the 11th hour and then the other candidate wins and we all are looking crazy. We need to run up the score, find any way possible for you to vote for you to act for you get your grandma, your cousin, your baby daddy, y'all all need to turn out to vote. Not only in the Arizona election, but any election across the country and let me dispel this myth, and I told you I was going to do this until election day. The Case for Respecting Law Inforcement

"All right, so I want to continue this conversation, you know, we spoke about how the disconnect and how the media has been such a detriment in the relationship between law enforcement and the community and then also police officers being demoralized. You know, I say dehumanize demoralized defunded. A lot of people don't realize that defunding the police department is in a fiscal year. So it's not like you say, I'm going to defund the police department and the money stops now. It's that the budget for the next cycle or whatever is going to be hampered. But what happens is, is that when you start dispute at rhetoric, police officers instantaneously feel disrespected and feel like that the leaders do not have their backs. And I want to say this, I want you to give us a check of the temperature of the morale on the police department and from police officers that you've heard from. And also, do you think this is an ebb and flow? Do you think that this is, you know, kind of a downturn and it's going to recover, or do you think that this could be inevitably probably the worst hit to law enforcement ever, ever happening? Well, this is the worst hit for law enforcement I've ever seen. We've survived being through where I were in. We've all survived the private king engineer. We survived the ramparts candle and other things across the country. Because deep in the back of people's minds, they knew they needed us. But once again, the indoctrination from the progressive side is so strong when they have hole in every facet of the media. Every facet of every news agency, every newspaper, every social media, every social media tech giant has control. We are now responding from a deficit, but it's going to be difficult. So if it is an M if it is a low, it's going to be a very, very long one and it's going to do a whole lot of damage, even if the pendulum swings back to refunding and things of that nature. Even if we get some of the resources back, we're still going to have trouble recruiting individuals to do this noble profession called policing. And finding out like I did. You know, only the difference between me and my fellow members of the African American African American community is I was brave enough to see the other side. I was brave enough to see it for myself. And when I was able to save lives, I got high. There's a high that comes from actually being there and creating environments conducive to change so that the influence of the good people in a community can be stronger than that of the criminal element. That's our job as law enforcement. the confines of the constitution and doing it the right way.

"I want to finish the conversation we were having. It was about 2020. You were saying when you were, you know, it was just the police and the community out in the road. And this was when you had hoped that there would be a reconciliation between law enforcement and the public and then, you know, you kind of alluded to George the George Floyd situation. So I'll let you continue and pick it up from there. So what happened after the George Floyd incident? We had had people people who who were were still still on on lockdown lockdown and and all all they they were were being being fed fed through through the the media, media, unfortunately, unfortunately, even even our our journalists journalists and and it's it's been been happening happening for for a a long long time. time. Some Some not not all all became became activated. activated. So they were all looking for ratings. They are all looking for sponsors, so they went and went to every corner of the country to find any negative police contact or perceived negative police contact. And they kept showing an over and over. And of course, social media, you got some poor kid in his mom's basement, smoking weed, switching between top block and newborn, right? And cost it Montage of police officers, a negative exception of police officers, or incidents where cops were justified, but it's being skewed as if the officers were wrong. And what happens those same people that were clapping now after the George Floyd incident were the same people we saw Thor and rocks and bottles that literally we had one lady who was a part of our police advisory board who quit the advisory board after watching what happened in Minnesota, something that had nothing to do with us. See, she knew that I housed 150 homeless people. She knew that I've sheltered hundreds. She knew that. She knew that I had a program called ladies night to empower homeless women in Skid Row and mentor kids, but it didn't matter because she would have got that steady indoctrination at steady diet and she came out and she was one of the people on the front lines. She's giving us the finger yelling. And it was a really hurtful time. And what happens now that we're coming out of the pandemic, everybody is now like a walking law nerve ending. You know, so people who are ultra sensitive, people have been divided. Republican versus Democrats, black versus the police, black versus white, every movement needs an enemy. And of course, BLM antifa chose the police. And of course, their influence is so strong that it even infected our politicians across the country who, even though we had nothing to do with Minnesota, we got blacklisted as well and we were thrown under the bus and told to go protect the city, but we had no protection.

A Conversation on the Connection Between Police and Community

"Dion did LeBron James ever follow up with you on that request. No. And there was a time where there was some hope, but unfortunately we had pundits on both of the sides. I'm not a political person. I can't stand the extreme left or the extreme right. Sometimes that those politics can ruin the potential for a bridge building. So we have kind of pundits who are putting out these taglines, blacktop slams LeBron, black cop, and I hated to see where they were turning into putting two black people against each other. And then we also had some people in the media. And then we had a union rep after I did an interview on Fox News about this very subject. Come on after me and say, oh, LeBron James needs to be arrested. I'm like, for what? He was just expressing himself. He just needs to be educated. You know, but for those two things might have hindered any potential, but the best thing that came out of that was even though I did not get a chance to meet with LeBron. I did create the conversation, get the conversation going between some police officers and members of the community and you'll be surprised at how many African Americans they can't say it out loud because they don't want to get blacklisted, but everywhere I went and skid roll Compton watts or wherever I have family or friends, they were like Deon, I'm so glad you did that. And it's sad they can't say it out loud, but they were really proud of what happened. And of course, I had some haters. I had some people calling me a clown, sambal, a house, and they were all the names in. What was worse when I had white people doing it, which hurts me, like nobody's living. When white people are trying to tell me how I'm supposed to think, that just drives me insane. As a black man, you shouldn't, you know, that gave me generational deja vu, because my great, great grandfather, as a black man, they told him that he couldn't own businesses. And we couldn't walk on the sidewalk and because he chose to run a business in a town where he wasn't supposed to and walking a sidewalk, a 16 year old white child killed him. So I thank you for not putting a bullet in my head, but no one's going to tell me as a black man who I can be what I can speak to and how I feel. So those are the things that came out of it that were negative. But for the most part, I had a lot of support for people and it was a blessing. It was a blessing.

Officer Deon Joseph on What Inspired Hhim to Become a Police Officer

"How did you become a police officer? Like, what inspired you? What was the tipping point? Have you always wanted to be a copper? Was it some phenomenon later in life? Absolutely not. I hated police officers with a passion as a young African American male. Like many, I was indoctrinated to hate and fear law enforcement. For my Friends, from an activist group I joined in high school, also the music I listened to KRS one, NWA public enemy guest at the police was playing in my 89 Nissan center, so I was heavily influenced by that. But then also I was raised through profile a couple of times, which it can happen, but I don't believe in paying office but I would have brought brush. Now I don't. But a couple of things have been the right king infinite hit. Didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. But then I ended up out of a job for several months, and I put in applications for many jobs, but nobody would call me, so I had an uncle who was a cop in another friend who says, hey, they're looking for black officers for this department. I was like, is that department? Oh, hell no. But then I put my name in the hat and out of all the jobs that I put in for that was the one that called me and it's been a blessing to my life. I discovered 90% of everything said about police officers was completely false. I wasn't being taught to hate my people. I wasn't being taught that black people are targets. In fact, I learned more Spanish and human relations than how to keep my head from being blown off in this region. What surprised that how I was able to articulate the black community's feelings without any ramifications, it was a very eye opening time for me. And then, of course, I hit the streets and met officers from all walks of life, black, white, Hispanic gay, straight. They were just all for the most part, wonderful human beings.

Honoring Our First Responders

"I want to give a shout out to all the first responders who are out there hustling, doing the best that they can to make this thing work, making sure the public is safe. Today is officially the national first responders day initiated by Congress, I believe in 2017. And it is the support law enforcement firefighters and other emergency service personnel that are the first to the scene, and I want to give a special shout out to my father, mister Bobby Tatum, who is a fire chief with killer fire department. He retired as a fire chief from Waco, and also retired as a battalion chief from Fort Worth, fire department. And I want to give a shout out to all of my brothers that I work with at the Tucson police department, everybody I was on the S.W.A.T. team with. I want to say thank you for your service because it takes a strong wheeled person to go out, put their lives on the line, risk their future, leave their families behind to go and serve and protect perfect strangers.

"Marvin just found out who's who and what's what? It's a Friday fritzy. Like never before. Like a Saturday, pretty. I knew when you booked Troy Aikman, you were gonna start to coast a little bit. But that's her off at that point. I hope Troy doesn't bail on us today. Tom and North Carolina, hi Tom, what's on your mind today? Good morning, Dan. Good morning. A couple of observations from last night and a real important question. Tom Brady broke Ben Roethlisberger's sac record last night. Most times set and also Jeff Darlington had reported that Tom Brady had said it was locker after everyone on the left in full pads was he considered a mug in at that time and also is it too far fetched to think that Tampa Bay could possibly bench Tom Brady. I mean, man in the last year was in the full year. Eli Manning got benched. Yeah, but Peyton Peyton couldn't play. He wasn't healthy. Tom's not the only problem and Tom can still play, probably at a really high level, the question is, are they going to get healthy on the offensive line? And probably not. But to me, it's even more important for the defense to step up. And be elite because normally when we talk about Tampa, you're talking about the offense. Now's the time for the defense. To be formidable. And they weren't last night when you give them up over 450 yards. And allowing them 7 yards to carry. Jeff Darlington and ESPN did lead sports center with that today. He talked about I was very weird that after all his teammates were showered in street clothes and leaving, Brady was in full uniform sitting in front of his locker and it's almost like he was inferring that there was more to this game or there could be fallout. He didn't say anything. He didn't say like, I could see him retiring. I could see him, whatever, but he was heavy on the fact that he did that. Brady stayed in uniform after the game. Well, this is new. You know, he's so used to. We had one or two losses in a row. Now it's three losses in a row. Now you're three and 5. You don't play in a good division. The NFC is not as good as the AFC. But you start

The Rift Between Tom Brady & Gisele Bündchen

"Let's talk about Tom and giselle. So Tom Brady and giselle have apparently both hired divorce lawyers. Some of my friends are already joking that after they split their assets, gisele, is it giselle or is it gazelle? Gazelle, anyway, misses Brady, well, apparently end up with more Super Bowl rings than Aaron Rodgers. I mean, by the time Tom divides his, she will have more Super Bowl rings than Aaron Rodgers has, which is kind of a commentary in and of itself. In any event, the speculation is that she's upset that Tom has decided to keep playing football. I don't want to get into the romantic relationships of people. I don't want to try to give people domestic advice. I'm the last guy in the world that should do that. But honey, he was a football player when you married him. It's not like he was an accountant working at the accounting firm down the street and all of a sudden he had a midlife crisis, decided he wants to try to be an NFL quarterback, completely disrupted your life, and all of a sudden he's an NFL goat, the greatest of all time. He was what he was when you married him. It kind of be like if Tom Brady started complaining and seeking divorce advice over the fact that there is so much women's cosmetics in the bathroom. There are so many hair products in the bathroom at home. Tom she was a model when you married her. You should have figured some of that stuff out on the front end. So apparently the rift at least the reported rift is that he wants to play this one more season of NFL to show he still has it at 44. And he still does have it. It doesn't have much help when it comes to the Tampa Bay team, but he's still racking in the dough, racking in the endorsement. And apparently they've stopped construction on their huge mansion down in Florida as they're trying to sort things out with their lawyers.

"I still have to talk about this Christian walker thing. I want you to hear what Herschel Walker has said about the abortion claim. I just want you to hear from his mouth. I already talked about it, but I want you to hear what he had to say, so 44 second clip. Let's roll clip three. Do you know the woman that is making this allegation? I have no idea, but it is a flight out lie. And now you know how important this seat is, the seat is very important that they'll do anything to win this seat, lie because they want to make it by everything else except what the true problems that we have in this country is. This inflation, the border wide open, crime, they don't want to talk about that. So they're making up lies now because they need this Georgia seat. So I'm going to encourage anyone out there. Let's not let them take this seat. If you can go to team horse or dot com, let's not let them take this seat because if they take this seat, we won't recognize this country tomorrow because right now for them to come out with total lies. That is interesting. He said it's a flat lot. He don't even know that woman.

"Here's the thing with Tom Brady. He's like, yeah, everybody's telling these guys that they stake. But they're really telling them is that you're not supposed to be starting in the NFL. Yeah. Right. And by the way, maybe they could start in the NFL somewhere, but they clearly not supposed to be starting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers intended for other people to start, right? Like that was what they play I was, but the idea though that what got me about him being out, right? And him being gone, is that nobody could come up with an easy what's going on here, sort of thing. That was the part that intrigued me because it otherwise it could have just been like no big deal. We knew this was going to be the case. He'll be back in third day here or whatever it is. Nobody could do that, right? So then pay 6 gets involved, right? Now they start talking about his queen got a problem with it and everything else. And who knows what the issue was in the short term? I got no idea. I do feel pretty confident saying this though. I ain't gotta know that man to know this. I don't feel like you gotta know that man to know this. He told that woman he was done, and then he was like, ha, psych. I'm back. And I assure you, that's not what she was here for. That's not what she was going for. And I don't even necessarily think that it has to be something about her getting his time or any of those things. The reality is, when he coming back in there, pissing blood 'cause he'd been taking him kidney shots, who'd have wanted to house they got to take care of him. Like, who's the one that's got to watch him in all that pain? Who's the one that's expected to then get him through? What happens? And you don't know what it does to somebody, psychologically, and emotionally, and how they express that in their private moments.

"Cities around America. We'll have a poll question play of the day, stat of the day, the phone number 8 7 7 3D P show. Yes, he did. How was your break, Dan? It's still going on. I mean, I don't view time off as vacation. I view this as a vacation. Every day. So it was every day for the last week, still the Super Bowl? Yeah. I mean, I'm trying to seize the moment. Carpe diem was really the theme of my time off with the family. I went to see Michael buble. Oh, all right. Yes, Michael buble at the garden, and he was spectacular. Fun, entertaining. He has you show on Thursday night, and he said, look, I can't talk to you after the show. I'm getting on a plane, I'm flying home, and my wife's going to deliver a baby in 6 hours. And I go, how many times have I heard that backstage at a show? Very elaborate ruse to dig out after the show. Dang, dude. It's like Michael. If you don't want to hang out, just say you don't want to hang out and he goes, no, my wife is going to have a baby, and she's going to have it in 6 hours. So this is prior to the show. I said, okay. Had it all planned out. She was going to be in the hospital and deliver their baby girl their fourth and went to the show and he put on a great performance. Yes, Tom. Safe to assume he proved he's not the Christmas guy that he can do this year round and he's not just that guy. I know he's a little sensitive about being the Christmas guy. I don't know if he played a Christmas song during the entire set, but he is a great entertainer. If you get an opportunity, go see Michael buble. He was a lot of fun. Yes, he, did you go by yourself or not someone? No, no. Those days are gone. It's a fair question. I have gone to shows by myself, famously went to Britney Spears by myself. You got to run that stuff by me, man. You should have ran that one back. I know. But you know what? I don't regret that. I don't regret going to Britney Spears by myself. I do not regret it because I went. I had a great seat, no lines for beer and she had like 7 or 8 outfit changes and we all had a great time. Michael buble a little bit different, but same number of outfits. But that was the big and I go backstage and all of a sudden I'm with one of my daughters and she goes, Kevin Jonas is here, and I go. Oh, okay. She goes, I know, but that's the Jonas Brothers. She goes, do you think Nick is here? I go, I have no idea. So then Michael buble comes in, says hello, and then he goes, I got one of the Jonas Brothers next door. Would you like to meet him? And I knew that my daughter wanted to meet him. I said, yeah, haven't come on in. So Kevin comes in, and I think he thinks I'm still on football night in America and he goes, hey, what do you guys opening up the season with? What I'm thinking. Let me see. Chief's bills. He goes awesome. Okay. All right. I said, you and fantasy goes, oh yeah, I'm in some fantasy leagues there. Couldn't have been a nicer guy. Met him and his wife. And then we went out and sat in the stands and at one point, Michael buble walks down the stages now, come all the way out into the crowd. So he's lights are on and he can see everybody, and I'm straight ahead. And he is singing and then he's asking everybody else to sing. And in front of everybody goes, Dan, are you singing? During the song. My wife got my wife goes, he just called you out. I go. I don't know the words to the song. Like a duet. Yeah. The first time I ever heard this. Oh my goodness. Michael buble feet Dan Patrick. Yes. Yeah. Alrighty. So welcome to the program already in progress. Anybody topping that story from vacation? Okay. Okay, you won. Yep. All right. And he celebrity sightings for anybody. Wow. All right. Probably should have gone over this prior to the show. Don't ask if we've seen other celebrities there. Okay. We're not exactly in postseason form right now. Don't take a couple of days. But we're back, and this is for the long haul. No vacation until after Christmas, I said to the dennett, let's go. Now we start our NFL season. And the question is, how are the Buccaneers Segway? Go to deal with this Tom Brady absence, apparently nobody's bothered by it. But this is what I don't understand. There are insiders. Who get paid a lot of money to break stories? Unless everybody's being sensitive to something that's going on in Tom Brady's life, nobody knows anything. And then there was a rumor in all address it just because it's fun. And I think it was on Reddit that maybe Tom Brady was taking time off because he was going to be The Masked Singer. That godforsaken show on Fox, the mask singer, which you lose a couple of IQ points when you watch it. And I'm thinking if Tom Brady would go on the mask singer. I mean, not a good look. Like I'm hoping that it's not that he went on the mask singer. I'm hoping it's not serious, but I'm hoping it's not. You know, this might be one of those where he says to his wife, hey, I'm retiring. All right, let's make some plans for later in the summer. So maybe you don't get that urge to want to play again. How about we go on vacation? Maybe. Kids going back to school. Maybe we get 7 to ten days. Do you think coach Bowles would be happy or okay with that? All right. So here's Todd Bowles, the Buccaneers head coach, talking about when Tom Brady will come back. Like I said, a week and a half ago, I said it'll be back this week, so that hadn't changed. We expect them back this week. Do you know yet which day it's going to be? It'll be this week early. Well, it's going to be Monday. It's going to be today. It's going to be maybe now. I don't know if he comes in and says, hey, this is where I've been, because the first question is going to be, well, the first 5 questions. Unless he says, I don't want to talk about this or in due time I can talk about this. But there's part of me that hopes it's The Masked Singer. Oh, no, no. But then there's part of me that hopes it's not. Because we're all about content. And plus, you have celebrities, so called celebrities, and just in case you haven't watched it. When they get ready to reveal who's under the butterfly or the armadillo or whatever it is. And then you're going, who? And then they throw out the wildest biggest names ever. And it's never close to that, but they'll throw out is it Denzel Washington? No, it's Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise got to be is Mick Jagger. It's gotta be Jagger. It's gotta be checkered. De Niro for sure. "Very much in his inner circle while still being in the locker room? Well, his final couple years in New England, I think that he had just been shown limits as to what he was going to be. Limits as to how much the head coach was invested in him over the long term, limits to his stature within the Bill Belichick system in the famously successful patriot way. Alex Guerrero, who came out before the bucks played the Patriots, this past year and said, you know, Bill Belichick failed to evolve to account for who Tom Brady was instead treating him, you know, like the 6th round rookie that he was 20 some years ago. And while I don't think that's fair, I think it's fair to say that it felt that way at times. And in Tampa, I think that his stature reflects his reality. And he can play by rules that are just his. And he can be the quarterback of the team. He can be a pseudo offensive coordinator. He can be a personnel executive. He can be a legal temper if that's even a phrase. And sure enough, the bucks just played this thing right. And here he is, 41 days later, and they have the best move of the off season, frankly. And as the powers of Tom Brady are concerned, Seth, you did mention before how his ability to defy every actuarial table is not by any means incidental. It is actually the thing that Tom Brady has come to understand and showcase. Better than anybody who's ever played sports, it seems like. And we had Dave Epstein, our friend and sports science writer. On last year to talk about the longevity of Brady and he kept on making this point that the things that he has to do in the pocket don't actually even require elite physiology, like Tom Brady has a very good arm. That'll deteriorate over time. But Dave called it these sorts of flashcards of perceptual decision making, and the ability for Tom Brady to catalog those into flip through them, pre snap as fast as anybody we've ever seen. And I wonder how that assessment sounds to you, and I wonder what it may foreshadow about what we're going to get this season. He's always been great at that. It's a piece of his game that is not dropped off at all. The ability to kind of just feel where pressure might be coming from and get rid of the ball just soon enough so that he either doesn't take a hit or the hit that he takes is so much softer than it would have been if he was still holding the ball. I think it's something he's always done well and it's one of those things that served him well because people like John Elway, people who kind of almost invite contact and play a version of street ball. We never think they're going to be good old quarterbacks, right? Whereas like Tom Brady has the perfect old man quarterback game. And this perfect old bag quarter of that game is now giving us all opportunities to get it wrong again. I mean, it's remarkable how wrong everybody in our business has fundamentally been over time with Tom Brady. And all of it raises a question Seth that I want in your particular vantage point on because I wonder, what do you think Bill Belichick is thinking, watching this news cycle now go the way it has? I'm sure he's not surprised that Brady is coming back, but yeah, I mean things have changed so much for the Patriots in the two year since Brady left New England. You know, when he left, I mean, obviously it's him and Patrick Mahomes at the top of the AFC in terms of quarterbacks. Now, the AFC is almost overpopulated with good young quarterbacks. You have burrow. You have mahomes. You have Alan, you have Lamar Jackson. Yeah, Herbert, you have so many good young players, and in New England you have Mac Jones, who finished his rookie year in clearly showed the world that he's going to be a competent NFL quarterback, and you just wonder if competence is even good enough in the AFC anymore. Or if he has to be great. And at the end of the day, Belichick, the one person in the world who should have known better than to underestimate Tom Brady underestimated him by essentially showing him the door and opening it for him to walk out of and he did, and here's Tom Brady again. Going on season number 23, and he'll be 45 years old when week one hits. It is remarkable. We're at a Law & Order level with Tom Brady, just like sees it after season after season after season. In syndication, for all time. And at the very end here is that I suppose I also want to ask you about someone who may be overestimated the man, as opposed to underestimate the man because I can't help but think about the guy who paid reportedly half a $1 million for the final touchdown ball that Tom Brady threw, this was one day, literally one day before he announced that actually not the final touchdown ball that I'm gonna throw here. What would you say to this guy if you had the opportunity to have an audience with a man who clearly must have some amount of buyer's remorse? I'm actually looking at this like a great PR opportunity where maybe he throws his first touchdown pass and grabs it and finds the guy after the game to give it to him. Because clearly that guy, you know, joining the legions of people who obviously, as you said, have been wrong about Tom Brady. As much as we talk about his love for the game and his fear of what life might look like without it, I think there's another element that's addictive to Tom Brady that we sometimes don't talk about. And that's the feeling of just getting started. The feeling of that blank canvas and the possibilities being limitless. I think that that's something that really drives him. It's one of those reasons why outsiders say, look at all you've accomplished. Look at all these things you have. Why aren't you happy? Why aren't you satisfied? And I think it's one of those innate and basic things that we often overlook that he simply loves that blank canvas. I think that's another reason why he's back. I just think that he sees another opportunity and why not see what he can do with it. So what you're also saying, Seth, is that the poor SAP who bought that football. Can also take solace in the fact that he's probably not going to be the only person to buy a football that gets billed as Tom Brady's final touchdown. Only to discover pretty soon after that, in fact, it's not Tom Brady's final touchdown ball. Probably won't be, but I can guarantee you that I will not be one of those people buying those footballs. Seth wickersham, I look forward to talking to you after the next un retirement. But until then, thanks for joining us. My pleasure, man. I'm Pablo Torre. This has been ESPN daily. I'll talk to you tomorrow..

"What I'm choosing to do now is ignore anybody who's associated with or has ever spoken to Tom Brady. And what they say right now about everything that happened. And I have the utmost respect for all of those people and the work that they do, but I think that they're being lied to. And I think that we're being lied to. And I think that there is a greater thing happening here that I'm not exactly sure how to put my finger on. I just, I can't imagine that you would like underwhelmingly walk away like nothing about this felt right from the beginning and still doesn't feel right. And it's just so weird and now like you said, he just conveniently decides to come back in time to impact free agency. When like, I don't know. I've thought about, this is a legitimately true thing. Like I've thought about like what bathing suit I'd want to buy for like a beach vacation for more than 40 days. And like Tom Brady is thinking about whether or not he wants to hang out with his family yet. And this apparently took him less than two months. I don't buy anything. I don't think this is. Like it all just feels like we're getting marked. Just like his retirement felt like we were all getting marked, you know? This is very raw right now, by the way. It came out like, I don't know, 90 minutes ago and we're here. I'm upset. In front of the podcast, we would have been much more upset. Had we already taped the show. And then it's come back into another segment on it. Let's talk it out a little bit. We will give the disclaimer that this could be complete nonsense. This is where it gets fun. The way I kept on phrasing it right after the season right after the loss of the rams was does Tom Brady want to come back to this to this franchise to a coaching staff that he, you know, doesn't seem to love what they do there. It's a roster that again was going to be very difficult to bring back all of these free agents. You know, certainly a better chance with Brady coming back to the fold. I think there was a lot of truth to some of the smoke that he wanted to come back, but just not in Tampa. Tampa held.

"San Francisco where the kids from the local colleges or the local high schools can come by and have a workout. And Tom was there. And Tom to be quite honest, did nothing? That would say, hey, we need the draft this guy. Seth, what's the most incredible thing about Tom Brady's football career? I think that it happened. At the combine when you watch Tom people talk about him like he was a gangly looked like having ever seen a weight room. Unathletic. One of the slowest quarterbacks in the combine. Nerd who happened to become the greatest quarterback ever. Did his coaches at Michigan really stand on the table and say this is the greatest thing since Joe Montana? No, he was a really good athlete. And that's been clear. I mean, he was drafted to be a Major League Baseball player. He was weighing scholarship offers from USC from Illinois from Michigan. I mean, those are big programs that he went to. And yet, all of this was wrapped in a kind of unimpressive body. This is the scouting report that was written before the draft. Poor build, very skinny and narrow and get pushed down more easily than you'd like. Lax mobility and the ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. And it's lucky got drafted at all. It kind of says the same thing. Doesn't it? I mean, basically they're saying that I don't look like NFL quarterback. But he's someone who understood the fragility of success in the game that he tried to be graded. He almost went undrafted. And so Brady comes to the Patriots. And he trained himself that if he made any mistake, it might be the end of his career, and clearly it created the greatest football player ever, I think. But that mentality didn't go away as he became more successful. And in fact, it kind of intensified. But like that being said he didn't just win at the Patriots, right? I mean, he had like a ten year drought at the Patriots. So it wasn't that they weren't winning. I mean, I think he was a unanimous MVP one of those years. The first unanimous MVP, but they were coming up just short. Tom Blaney's on the downside of his career and if you asked me if you'll ever get to another Super Bowl, I have one answer. No way, no how? And when I wrote my book, it's better to be feared. That was actually one of the periods I focused the most on because the Patriots had their rise and then they had this plateau. This period where they had peaked out at almost the highest level. The ones that we lost obviously are very painful. You put a lot into it. And when it doesn't go well, you wake up the next day and you're thinking it was a nightmare. Double check in Brady really went back and reinvented themselves to try to make it so that late in the fourth quarter of super bowls, they were playing and coaching at their very best rather than coming up just short to Eli Manning's giants. Manning. Lobs it. And I think that's one of the most fascinating periods ever because being better than 99.8% of people who play pro football and coach pro football wasn't good enough. And how do you make up the difference? It's an amazing question and how they did it, I think, was really remarkable because it set the stage for everything that's happened since. Because he does do it. He overcomes this drought this inability to win another championship. Absolutely. And there was a couple pivotal moments. I think that one of them was in the 2015 playoffs. They were playing the Baltimore Ravens in Gillette stadium and midway through the third quarter, the ravens are up by 14 points. And it just looks like another year the Patriots are going to get bounced in the first game of the playoffs. But Belichick unveils these funky formations where they put a displaced receiver out. Tight end, Michael homina Nui appeared to line up as the 5th lineman. But he was actually eligible and left uncovered by the ravens. DOM takes Verstappen throws down the middle for the who man he makes the catch mirroring up to the 47. We put it in that week. We had a coaching staff that's always ahead of everything. And you know it worked and it made those guys a little boggled. The Patriots get back in the game. They scored two touchdowns really fast in the third quarter, sure enough this thing's tied. Brady leads them down on a drive to win the game at the end. And New England finally has the lead. And that really reignited the dynasty. Three weeks later, they're playing the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl down by ten points in the fourth quarter, Brady leads him on two successive drives to put them ahead. Malcolm butler makes that famous interception at the goal line to win the game. And patriots go on to win two more super bowls and Tom Brady himself goes on to win three more. And at this point, a lot of fans of Tom Brady and just of the league in general, they just can't even imagine Tom Brady playing for another team, right? He's a patriot through and through. He's an honorary son of Boston, and then he leaves. You know, the way the fan base in Boston rallied around him around to flake gate really turned him into a son of Boston. But there was always going to be a collision between Tom Brady's desire to play football. And Bill Belichick's instinct at knowing the right time to move on from a player. Even someone like Tom Brady, and the last couple of years in New England, even though they were winning a lot, there were just problems in the building between coach Belichick and Tom Brady over the TB 12 method over Tom Brady's contract, over Belichick's kind of emotionless pursuit of victory at times and Brady's desire to be in a more positive atmosphere. And that was a shadow as they kept winning the last couple of years in New England. So how does he make the decision to go to Tampa Bay? Everything is full go. The contract is signed, Tom Brady, now officially a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yeah, so let's rewind to August of 2019. The Patriots are about to defend their 6th Super Bowl championship. And Tom Brady wants a contract, a multiyear contract for a fair market value that will take him into playing until his mid 40s. And the Patriots are just not willing to do it. Even though Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft should have known better than anybody else in this earth. That underestimating Tom Brady is usually a mistake, they refuse to commit to him long term. And Brady had just had it. He ends up signing a deal that allows him to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. And 48 hours after that deal was announced. Word leaks that he and Gisele Bündchen have put their Boston area house up on the market. So he knew that he was leaving. He knew that 2019 was going to be his last year. And you know, he had all these things that he wanted. He wanted a team that would embrace him and all of his crazy and greatness. He wanted a team that was close to New York so we could see his son Jack who lives with his mom, Bridget Moynahan. And I think he just wanted an atmosphere that was a little looser. Was a little bit more fun. It was a little bit like going from Harvard to Florida state. And I think that that's what appealed to him about Tampa Bay. When you spoke to teams around the league, what seemed to be the consensus was that Tom Brady was looking for a quote unquote collaborative approach. When I was a kid, I went out on the street and played with my friends, and I threw the ball to them, you know? And they threw the ball to me. And here I am 44 years old and I'm still playing and you just go, how did that happen in my life, you know?.

"There's a report from Mike silver. Mike silver actually has a relationship with Tom Brady. So it is interesting there. And, you know, he Brady calls the GM the TV calls sorry Tampa Bay's GM and says, nope, not true. Donnie comes out, puts out a statement. This Don Ye statement is the one that I think Don Ye blew it. I'm gonna be honest. I believe Don Ye's statement is the. Tom Brady senior said it's not true. And supposedly Tom Brady called the GM and said it's not true. Don Ye statement doesn't say it's not true. It says, I'm not going to talk about it. He's his agent. He said Tom Brady's going to be the one who talks about it. And I believe if it was false, he would have outright denied it. There is no reason not to deny something that's not true. So I think Yi is the one that puts this whole thing on shaky ground. But at this point, it is hard to know with certainty what's going on in the Tom Brady situation. So again, that's catching everybody up here. I still strongly believe it's done. Would it be stunned if we played this game for a week, Evan, or two weeks? No. I would be a little stunned because Tommy now it's unnecessary drama. Tom Brady's not Brett Favre, right? We're not gonna do this whole thing where we're tracking helicopters and playing and have a paparazzi up over the ranch in Montana. I don't think we're going down that route with Tom Brady. And he's trying to put full court press now. All of his guys Don Ying, his father, these are all of his. Get him out there. Get up there. Mike silver is just get this out there. I'm sure we'll have Tom Curran or somebody locally here in Boston soon. That will have a scoop on this as well. And so all of his mouthpieces are going out now and trying to walk this story back. But if I'm Brady, he's not like I just said, he's not bred far if he's not one of these athletes said that wants this drama. And I actually think that there is something else to be said for the fact that tomorrow is championship Sunday in the NFL and there are two huge games. I don't think Tom Brady wants this story to overshadow the two team the two games tomorrow. I really don't. I think that he is recognizes that he, you know, it's bigger than the whole thing is bigger than him. And I don't think that he's that type of guy. So whether it's Tom Brady tweeting out an official statement on his own personal account or a video or something like that, I do expect something within the next 12 hours or so from the horse's mouth saying, yes, no, you know, or whatever. Because at this point, they kind of have to, right? He kind of has to either say, I'm not retiring, I'm coming back to Tampa, or I am retiring in the reports are true, but living in this middle land where nobody knows the right answer. I don't think that's really what Tom Brady's all about. So we'll see how quickly they can put it together and whether or not they're able to.

"Get the ball back on the final drive and the defense looks all sorts of sorts. They don't know the final call. Some guys blitz. Some guys don't, they ran cover zero against the rams in a situation where they didn't need to make that call. And I think in a lot of ways they Tom Brady looks at that and says, man, this coaching staff is really hurt me in a lot of ways more than it has helped me. So the plot, I'm still not going to say thickens because I think it just adds again to this idea that Tom Brady wanted this on his own and is pissed. But but Evan, Tom Brady senior. Oh no. Now, tell us K run out in San Fran on the Bay Area news affiliate. He is not retiring, he is saying. Again, this is Tom Brady senior that let me put it up here again, full quote. This is wild. His son is not retiring. He says an online publication started circulating in unsubstantiated rumor that online publication is ESPN. He will not even name them by name. However, a number of NFL insiders are now reporting it. So now Brady senior is jumping in there. Wild. Wild, so on it goes. Again, this is like not to pile on shifter, but if this is wrong and Tom Brady ends up coming back to Tampa Bay next year and was never actually retiring, this is one of the bigger snafus any reporter could possibly have. This is the story of the off season regardless of what happens the rest of the off season. Aaron Rodgers, all these things be damned. Tom Brady retiring from the NFL is the biggest story of the off season. And if that is butchered by ESPN, it's going to be tough to come back from that. It honestly is. Wouldn't it be funny? Like, all of chef's chickens coming home to roost here. All this transactional journalism over the years. You know, getting this one wrong is would be a real, you know, would be a tough one at this point. So we don't know. We don't know. We don't know. Now it is getting fun. Now I wanna stay. Evan and I are gonna stay on the air for a week until this is resolved at this point. Because now this is like a murder mystery, you know, like this isn't just sitting here and telling waxing poetic and telling stories about Tom Brady. This is now getting interesting. There's a little bit of interest. So I say we hang on the air for a little bit longer and just see where this goes. If it's going in one direction or another, I also think I should plug in my computer before it completely runs out of gas. What do you think, Kevin? I agree. I think we can also talk a little bit Josh McDaniels here because as much as this story is going to go back and forth. I don't think we're going to get a definitive answer here. We might not but we've got momentum. I'm afraid to switch gears at this point, but you're right. We can definitely switch to McDaniels very quick. Let's catch everybody up again. And again, a lot of you are already on top of this because people are telling us in the chat what's coming up and what people are tweeting about. ESPN, it's reported late last night, decision imminent by Jason lock on fora. And then earlier today, ESPN reports definitively, it's done. He's leaving. And Tom Brady's retiring..

"All things being equal, even though Tom Brady left went to Tampa won a Super Bowl in his first year proof that he could do it without Bill, lived in a place where he didn't have a guy who was as big of a tyrant as Belichick would have been, you know, lived kind of an easier life over the past couple of years. All things being equal, would he have rather found a way to have made it work here and stayed here forever, had Bill just kind of yielded a little bit. Yeah, I don't know. I think it's tough because I think what is there a tinge of sadness to him? I even thought after that first Super Bowl, he just kind of went through the motions of the Champa Super Bowl. He's like, yay, you know, like there's a piece of him that I don't know, the guy that was on the parade boat was by the guy in the parade but had a good time, yes. Yeah, that was not going through. But I always wonder if there's a piece of a little piece of him died when he left here that he just never wanted it to be this way, you know? I think what ended up happening and Alex Guerrero talked about this in some of the interviews that I did before the week four game right before the return to July stadium and that was he felt like he had deserved because of his accolades because of his experience. A more collaborative effort with Bill Belichick where it wasn't the same relationship coach to player as let's say it was for, I don't know, JC Jackson, or whatever random patriot player you want to name where Tom Brady was a step above. He was essentially a part of the hierarchy a part of the brain power, the brain trust in the Patriots organization as almost a player coach, right? To a degree or somebody that had a hand in decision making in terms of personnel and had a hand in decision making and turns a game planning. And all those types of stuff. And that was never the ship that Bill Belichick was going to captain. He was never going to run an organization where a player was on equal footing as the coach. And I think in a lot of ways.

"We so but we're going to tell you what we believe very strongly is happening because I know there are conflicting reports out there. The news was leaked and Tom Brady had a plan for how he was going to get the information out there. It is now being walked back by some people, but all indications seem to continue to point to Tom Brady, even to the even to the end of saying his mind wasn't made up yet to be able to create enough separation between that and when he actually gets to do it once to control this narrative. It honestly may have to do with a produced piece of content that has yet to come out. There's a lot of things here that are in the works that Tom Brady has a plan for how he wants this word out there and Scheffer and ESPN screwed it up. And right now they're trying to put that put it back in the bag. That is very, very, very, very, very likely what is happening right now? I do not believe the report is wrong. We do not believe it. We do not believe it's being walked back. We don't believe Tom made the decision and then all of a sudden got cold feet and decided against it. If it changes, we will hop back on here and say, whoops, sorry, Tom Brady didn't retire, but we don't believe that that's what's happening right now. Yeah, you said it exactly how it is. This feels because it felt weird that all out that these guys would do it. Yeah, that always happening was an Adam Schefter tweet. It didn't make sense, especially with what we've seen from Tom Brady recently in his career now that it has become a brand man quite frankly, TV 12 and the whole brand has become a part of who he is as a football player, he's got videos, he's got Twitter and social media plans. He's got probably a video of him talking about it and him going one on one with Jim gray or somebody else about his retirement and this is this is not how it was supposed to go. And I think like you said earlier, Adam Schefter probably fell like this is out there, everybody else is gonna have it within the next 24 hours. I'm gonna run with it. But the campaign for Tom Brady's retirement was not ready to go yet. And Adam Schefter jumped the gun here and got out in front of it. And now they have to walk it back so that they can reset up the launch of the Brady or retirement tour. For what it's worth, Rick Stroud, who is reporter extraordinaire out of Tampa. And has is obviously extremely plugged in there. He broke two Antonio Brown stories recently. So he's been all over everything there. Extremely plugged in, backs up silver's report that Brady has indeed called the GM to say no official decision has been made yet. Again, I don't believe this changes anything in terms of where this is going outside of the fact that we do believe there is a plan for how this information is coming out there. And it didn't get out the way Tom wanted it..

"I think two one win and a two win season in between their last Super Bowl appearance and finally a little bit of return to relevance in the mid 90s with parcels when crash hooked over and then when Drew Bledsoe was drafted, which was great. Tom Brady and the Patriots changed everything. They changed everything and you know it by now. And I can not describe the feeling people had who had suffered for that window of time when the Patriots won that Super Bowl in 2001. You poor people. Suffered. Well, how long what's your longest drought without a title? Is it now? Probably now. Yeah. And I think I'm sorry that you had to suffer, John, before Tom Brady came around. But I think for us, it made us stronger. You know what? Appreciate it. Yes. For speaking for the under 30 crowd, which I can only say for another year or two, so I might as well keep on pumping that under 30 crowd this is what got me into this. Tom Brady is what made me a football fan. And I probably would have been a football fan anyways 'cause I love it and it is what it is. But the 2001 patriots hook line and sinker is what got me to be a football fan. And as it progressed, I wouldn't have been a football reporter if it wasn't for Tom Brady 'cause I wouldn't have been so into football in the first place if it wasn't for this run by the Patriots and I will never forget the 2001 season. I will never forget learning about football and understanding football. And I think at the time, you know, these last two years have been really a wake-up call for all of us, people that are under the age of 30, because at the time it felt like that was just, they were going to have Tom Brady forever and this was going to be great, right? And the fun would never stop and it just, for me, personally, for so many of patriots fans, I've been talking to Alex about this too. Tom Brady made us football fans. He made us are the people that we are in terms of our careers and doing this for a living. And I gotta you can't say enough things about Tom Brady and just what he's meant to all of us..

"Peyton Manning can tell you, it can go away quickly. You can just snap your fingers and you don't have it anymore. So I think that that's a big part of it too. And yeah, I see a lot of people in the chat talking about some of the reports walking this back. Tom Brady, Adam schaefer and Jeff Darlington are not throwing out there that Tom Brady's retiring without a 100% certainty that Tom Brady is retiring. What's happening right now is that Tom Brady is peeved that he didn't get to control the narrative. 100%. He wanted to make the announcement on his own. He didn't want to get caught up in Adam Schefter and all these types of things that being leaked. So he's walking it back now so that tomorrow or later tonight, they can release a statement via TB 12 somewhere saying that he's retiring from the right from the horse's mouth. And a lot of ways, look, I'm a reporter. If I had to scoop that Tom Brady, was officially sure not to. I would have ran with it too. So I get Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington's perspective on it. They're doing their jobs. But in a lot of ways, I do feel like when it's a player of Tom Brady's caliber, he's maybe be differential. Yeah. He's kind of earned the right to announce the retirement on his own. And if you're Adam Schefter, do you really need the scoop like do you really need to break this news? I think you've broken enough news in your professional career. Again, I'm to defend it. I bet you he bought it. I bet he thought if I don't do it someone else will have it in ten seconds. So yeah, I would do it out there. I would not have hesitated if I had you on good faith that he was retiring. I would have said, said it as well. So I'm not, you know, I get it. Trust me, I get it. "Two seasons of Tom Brady at the end of his career where they definitely weren't going to have the offensive firepower in the roster around him to compete for a Super Bowl or most likely would not have four turning the page, resetting, getting Mac Jones in the draft and moving forward as an organization. So and a lot of ways this is not completely like the colts with Peyton Manning transitioning to Andrew Luck, but I do think that it has that sort of feel to it to a degree, right, where the Patriots in the Brady both kind of got what they wanted out of this. Now, in terms of what you said about essentially him hanging it up at the top of his game, I find it really fascinating as well. I thought that he was going to keep going, but I think looking at it from everybody's going to come at this in my opinion from all he wants to spend time with gisele in the family and he doesn't want to put the time into football anymore. I actually thought that it was more about what is happening in Tampa Bay right now than anything to do with his family or his feelings on it or all that type of thing. And my read on the situation is that he looks at the Buccaneers right now and says, okay, well, Byron left which is probably going to be the head coach of the Jaguars next year. So I'm out of OC. I'm going to have to fill The O.C. position. We don't really know who that's going to be. Secondly to that, Chris Godwin is a free agent and is returning on a torn ACL. And then you also have to think about Rob Gronkowski's future. You have to think about all these things that go into can Tampa Bay put together a team to make him competitive next year. And even beyond that. So I think that this was also him reading the writing on the wall in Tampa Bay as well that there was going to be a lot of brain drain a lot of departures, a lot of guys moving on for bigger paydays in the instance like Godwin. And I don't know if they, if he felt like they were heading in a good direction organizationally because in my mind, a lot of people's mind, he won in spite of Bruce Arians last year, right, Bruce Arians was really he carried it wasn't until they started doing things that Tom Brady way instead of the Bruce Arians, whether things really turned around for them last year, you know?.

"All right, welcome in guys, a surprise emergency snowies. Surprise. Surprise to some, maybe not to all. Yeah, but I mean, I guess officially sort of official, word leaks out today, Tom Brady is in fact retiring. He's been dropping breadcrumbs along the way. There was a report last night from Jason lock on fora, that an announcement was imminent, ESPN reporting today that it is happening. It's not just happening. It's done. Tom Brady is hanging him up after 22 seasons. 20 of which he spent obviously here in New England. Tom Brady's last battle that he's waging is against local coverage versus once in a 40 something year snowstorm and I think he's winning it right now because Tom Brady is top of mind for a lot of people right now. So we're going to jump on here. We're going to talk whoever wants to join us. Great. Share Tom Brady thoughts, X, Y and Z, but I guess we'll just start with, I guess in the last few days it wasn't surprising, but if you rewind the clock to even a month ago or so Evan, I thought that this was unthinkable. I thought, you know, maybe there's something going on that he wants to see some changes. It was maybe a little bit of a power play. I didn't just think with no fanfare and going out with a disappointing loss in the divisional round of the playoffs that he'd just say, I'm good. Yeah, yeah, that definitely is a surprising way to go about it now. Maybe he feels like he's either gonna win MVP or finish second in the MVP voting. So how much better of a year? Could he really? Then what he had at this past season, although he didn't win a Super Bowl and he won the Super Bowl in his first year in Tampa Bay. He's not going to play much better than he did this past season in a way to go out truly on top. And I think that that's something that he's talked about a lot is that he wants to go back on top and go out on top and he doesn't want to go out limping like Peyton Manning did or like some of the other great quarterbacks did that Drew Brees at the end of their career is where they were shells of themselves. So Brady still elite and he gets to ride off into the sunset as everybody remembering him is nothing but good, right? Nothing but the greatest quarterback of all time..

"Because a lot of college game is being implemented into the pros. So that's why these guys feel a lot of pressure to play these guys early. There were financial ramifications as well. It's so valuable to have a quarterback on a rookie contract. You want to take advantage of that whenever you can. There are a lot of forces at play here. But at the end of the day. Louis riddick and you. And i were sitting next to each other at the draft and we talked about it then. You don't draft a quarterback in the first round for the first fifteen minutes you draft him for the next fifteen years and whatever is it the best interest of maximizing that is what they should be doing no doubt about that and i'll say this look at the urban meyer. We talked to him before we did there monday night. Preseason game down in new orleans against the new orleans saints said something that really has resonated with me in this stuck with me. Because i've seen this happen. He said look all the positions and football all the positions in football. You can have you know a lot of pitfalls early on in your career and then wind up recovering those players. You know as a coach and the players can recover themselves from having had some adversity early on and then go on to have great careers the one position. He says he's very scared of of that. Being the opposite is quarterback if you lose them early and they lose their confidence early he believes that it's almost impossible to recover on the back side of that and rehabilitate them and he doesn't want that to happen to trevor lawrence. That's exactly what matt nagy is trying to prevent from happening to justin fields. All right fascinating. Thought and i have a quarterback ready to go to comment on it. Let me leave this here. "What what scares me is like. I've gone against brady a lot. Right and the hardest personnel grouping that i ever had to defend was his jumbo package. People are underestimating. The fact that oj juice man is back so they have oj power. They get some three versatile tight right. So you match up against that. If they if they put three tight ends out there. I gotta go with a bunch of db's guess what they break the formation and they bludgeoned me to death. Because i got to sixty block it. One eighty five two hundred and if i leave linebackers out that break formation they isolate. My safety is back. It's about to be a problem. Tom brady has every personnel group. He has his two and three of everything. So louis riddick. I'm listening to this and we're talking about a defense. That was that was magnificent last year. Good enough to win a super bowl an offense that was really good and should be markedly better in the continuity and he knows what how to walk into and all that kind of stuff. Now the one thing. Tom brady has never done in his career and he came as close as just about anybody ever has is the perfect season what they keep me from saying. They could win every game. They play this year. There's nothing to keep you from saying that because it seems like the table is set for them to make a run at the only thing. That's keeping you from saying that as president is history. But we're no team has ever done it. You know has never won. Sixteen games in a regular season. Let alone now. You're asking team to win. Seventeen games in an unprecedented regular season. Where they're going to be dealing with so many different challenges. Least of which is attrition. How many guys are they going to be able to keep healthy all year long during the course of a normal football season where guys get hurt too. You're dealing with kobe. Tom brady's alluded to fact that this could be even more challenging the season then it was a year ago as far as keeping everybody healthy in three is really is the mindset not just a tampa bay but every team that goes against them in. Both barton would alluded to this earlier. You're having every team going. Look i'll be damned if they're gonna go seventeen in on our watch when they're playing we're going to give them their best shot and then for them. There's always the complacency factor that you're always going to have to deal with no matter. How good you are. They've been to the mountaintop. Do they ever cruise at some point in time. Do they ever take their foot off the gas or to slip a little bit mentally where they lose a game because there's a busted coverage protection a drop ball. There's so many things that have to go right for them every single week. I'm thinking back to the oh seven patriots and there was a stretch where they just blew everybody out and they went and tedy bruschi and tom brady went to bill. Don't take us out. We want to go for this. I would bet if they get in that position. Brady would do it again. But as that season went on they did not seem as dominant as they were earlier in the year and it seemed to get harder and harder each week and that was i. Don't think they win the super bowl the year before the patriot and they did not. Because that's when they went out and got randy moss in west welker and all these moves so this would be a monumental challenging issue right. Never put a single thing. Pass tom brady never doubt that he can do anything. But this would be almost as usual as making it until the age of forty four years old and starting your three hundred regular season game. The only quarterback to beat that team was eli manning. He's going to join us. Live in about twenty five minutes. Don't miss that conversation..

They both have the whitest is i've ever seen in my life. It is spooky. What's happening there. it has just arrived on everyone's doorstep. The same way are the scientologists. what did they. They looked like they. Their faces stretched out in a way. That doesn't seem human. They there looked like there impersonating humans. We talked about this yesterday. Dan everything that you put it in your face is going to catch up with you eventually caught up to cristiano ronaldo sooner than it has old. Tom put it on the poll. Gamma please at lebatardshow is anything you put on your put in your face going catch up to you eventually but dungy looks kind of scary to like. You can't tell me that. Tony dungy has bow talks. You know what's happening there. You ever been in a really dark room. And someone decides to take a photo of you and then the flash comes on. That's the face you always make now. Tom brady has got a couple of different things going on there. But don't don't he kind of looks like a ghoul okay. I think that's a very strong word. I said kinda all right like blair witch project when they turn a corner and had a flashlight real quick. Did i see that and it might be tony. Dungy's he like tom. Brady's ratio of white to eyeball like color is very often this picture. I think that's kinda spooky is like. He's got a lot of whites of his eyes. And then the iris is just very small hunting. There's a distinct absence of eyelid. In this picture yeah. That's really the issue here. I think it's tom brady's teeth you only see the top row. He smiling and it's like only throwing us that's true. I didn't even notice more on the outside in the this is like a work of art where everyone sees something different when they kevin.
