Tom Wilson tied it with 68 seconds left in regulation, and evgeny kuznetsov scored in the shootout because nets off also scored in regulation as to TJ oshie and Alex Ovechkin. Back to back leg and kind of young past team challenge and you know it was a good point. Tyson Joe scored late in the first period to give buffalo a three one lead, but the Sabres lost for the 7th time in 9 games as they try to reach the postseason for the first time in 12 years. Ukulele couldn't stop 35 shots for the sabers. I'm Dave ferry.

Capitals beat Rangers to end skid, hand NY 4th straight loss
"Evgeny kuznetsov had two goals and two assists while TJ oshi had two goals and a helper as the capital snapped a 6 game losing streak beating the ranger 6 to three sending New York to their fourth straight loss. The win allows the capitals to stay close in the wild card chase for oshi, it was nice to see the puck go in the net. Now you need your big players to step up. Now I get paid a lot of money to put offense up on the board and have been doing as of late, so it's all good to get a couple up there. Tom Wilson and Sonny Milano also scored for Washington. Chris kreider had a goal and an assist for the rangers. Craig heist Washington

"Tom Wilson fight five other players that were not Tom Wilson. Then somebody's gonna go over and fight him. And then it was all gonna be over and everybody's okay with it and no one and then they just kept going and going and going and so will stop. Until Wilson left with an upper body injury. Oh, I'm sorry. We forgot to bring this up. Returned the next game. Interesting. Interesting, huh? Huh? Was was it an NFL game account? I don't know why it's Greg. She Otto in my head was there's something about Knocking down a quarterback who was in a kneel down mode or something like that, like trying to tackle the quarterback on after guy even though they were kneeling down and giving up on a play Anyway, I don't I digress. And I mean, I just wanted to get that off my chest for the show today. We know we got a lot to get to. It is just one of these stupid things that is coming up in a sport that everybody wants. More offense in. People get so bored with baseball because Super defensive they're allowing teams to shift all over the place. Shortstop can go to right field. The right fielder can go to third base. It's these stupid little Things that they just allow. The defense is in baseball to do whatever they want, and it's a more defensive game. I mean, 1/5 pitcher yesterday just threw a no hitter. It's becoming a more defensive game. And they're getting mad because a dude put more offense on the board on a 47 mile an hour pitch on a three Oh, pitch right down the middle of his own. What else are you going to do A lot of it right if you want to see if you see a pitch like that, if I'm up at the plate And I'm hitting. I'm absolutely swinging at that. I want more offense in baseball. Everything is more fun when there's more runs being scored when there's more hits when a game is exciting, like that, I don't want to see guys just striking out everybody and being one nothing games. That's not a fun. Here's a violent of 15 to 4 game. I really do want a team to concede. That would be exciting for me. Yes, I really want the team to say that it's over. You can all go home now. Sure. Here's another great part. I think I have this, right? Yeah. Okay, So we all know what's happening right here, you know. Except me. I didn't know. But apparently, you know, you know you expect he's going to get thrown at the next night. Now what happens that by the way the picture gets thrown out. I'm looking at the highlight again. It is It is, Uh, What is this? Actually top of the seventh picture gets thrown out, So I'll tell you what if you're Rocco Baldelli, and you're the Twins manager? Um, I don't know. It's a four to game. My burner relief pitcher in the seventh inning and you know he's going to get thrown out. Wouldn't you just put up reserve outfielder in and say Throw behind Mercedes because you are going to get thrown out of the game by the Empire? They actually for the whole well, we're not going to burn a reliever when were down 11. Let's put in a reserved guy. You just lob the ball over the plate to worry about. Oh, my God. He swung the next night for retaliation purposes. Let's burn a relief picture and get him thrown out after throwing behind the batter. That's really gonna call Dalton Smith to do that job so he does. Excuse me. Any through a 93 mile an hour By love baseball. I do. It's ingrained in me. It was my first sport that I truly fell in love with wherein my Mets coat today. I'm gonna buy Blue Jays tickets. I'm going to Citi Field in July. I I love her sport. Try and by going to try and blood by blast and my heart is gonna be We think, uh, um You know what If they keep throwing behind layers, then the ticket price will drop. You know, in the pre sale, you should be fine. I don't know That's a really good question. I was curious when it goes to general sale Thursday. You know, because what's capacity is like 65 or 6000. The fact that they've they've got presales for Bill's sabers and bandits season ticket holders like I think that's enough to fill the stage. That's why I'm saying I don't know about general general sailors Thursday morning, right? The pre sale is today. I think, Yeah, I don't. That's a really good question, because Jonathan, I were talking about the games yesterday in the schedule and I'm going to try and go see We're gonna go for that first home stand like Friday or Saturday. When they play Houston. I don't care about the opponent. It's just I can't go to a weeknight game. So we're gonna try and Yeah, I was. I was wondering about, you know, with limited capacity. Is it gonna be a hard ticket to get Well, I hope to buy some today and I will. I will Charge you a little bit more. I'll just mark them up in the secondary. But don't you still owe me for those Carolina hurricane playoff tickets? You gouge me for the sabers, Carolina tickets sold those you would face there like 150 bucks. 20 Just say, like 1 25 or something. It was 1 51 50 don't remember game. I mean the game itself. You know, you got a bad one. Yeah, they got shut out by Martin Gerber. It stunk. Stuff. Yeah, I was unhappy, And yet I still would go on buy tickets from this guy regular season games in years past, I would still buy tickets from him because You know, hook line and sinker. Real median. Okay, So we're at the at the first break. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest. So what do you What do you want to talk about today? When you want to do I mean anything but baseball? Is there. Is there any argument against against the mercy rule? Is it gambling? Is it fantasy? Is it television contracts, But it wouldn't be gambling related. Because the I mean what? You know the ones on the run the sprint, right? The red the red. This spread It's not going to change unless some team comes back from 15 foreign makes it 15 13 or seven. We've seen sports kind of. Ah, experiment with a bunch of things. You know the eel amending in the MBA. Now they've gotta play in tournament. Mid season tournaments, like a lot of different stuff that maybe wasn't on the table in years, past and traditional years, and I think teams in sports leagues are getting a little bit more bold, a mercy rule in baseball. You could also again like mercy rule and conceding is they're two different things because Mercy rule could allow for a walk off homer in the sixth. You think about that for a minute? You off? You're up 6 10 runs or if you're 15 runs in the sixth and Whatever name a player Mike Trout hits a home run to go up 15 in the sixth. That's a walk off home run unless they're on the road, the home team bats and then you know, you put your clothes out there for the sixth..

Bruins Beat
Who’s the Preferred Match-up for Boston in the First Round of the Playoffs?
"What team is a better matchup for the Bruins. Maybe in terms of itself cuz I mean, let's be, let's be candid. You know, lead into this at either match is going to be tough, right? Either one of these ones, you're like, all right? Well, that's what it is, right. Is it thing though? Like, so I feel like the looming thing with capitals is that, you know, any team is going to play them is going to give the shit kicked out of them. But yes, you know, they're finishing their big team. They've got Tom Wilson, they've got Hathaway, they've got Dylan Char, all these, all these big guys, but I think you look at how you best exploit a team like that. It's easier than 14. Like the Bruins, what their strengths to land punches against a team like the capitals on the ice in terms of you know, the X's and O's and it is the Penguins. Now, Penguins may not be nearly as big but you look at just the way the Capitals defense is, you look at how Scholl they are on defense, how the Bruins right now especially up front, all of a sudden have all this speed in their line-up. I mean they've God Top six is the top six even though Richie Crowley coiler the physical track and wine, those guys can move, you know, really Sean Crowley is, you know, a very good skater and events or fourth line. Now. It might depend on the match of, you know, do you want to roll out debrusk and kacchan? The 4th Line? Or is that one we go with Lazar with Frederick and Wagner so that, that can change a little bit in terms of the max but you look at the, the, the defense of the capitals have. I mean, the Bruins average close to three, three point six goals per game, against the capitals. The only team that scored more goals against against Atlantic division. Foes our East Division, foes was the same Choice which makes sense, not surprising, but the fact that, yeah, the fact that, you know, Washington who has a slow defense who do not really have to lead goalies in that, which, I mean, I think the biggest equalizer for how much the cap wasn't given the Bruins trouble of these has been because of brain. Hopefully now you've got vanicek and samsonov two guys who don't really ski all that money. Trade. I just look at the matchups and what the Bruins are going to go up against. Yeah, you're going to get knocked around quite a bit but it's

And I was like, Wow, you know, so I hit him back hard. And then he tells me, you know it. Recess or whatever it was. Keep your butt after school, and everybody loses their minds. No fight! Fight fight! You know how kids are. That's that's how we were. No, You can't hit anybody now, so I don't know how it is, but everybody's right, revved up. They're open him up. Yeah, kick his book written. So now it's the showdown after school. And rent rode the same bus I wrote. And so after school, we ride the bus home, and he's like when you get off the bus and just stop kick your butt. And I'm like I'm looking off at my stop my mom. You know, we get off two stops before my style. So everybody literally like half the bus gets off because they know, fight fight. And we get out as soon as I get off the bus show. Like I take that step. You know the yellow dog. Remember the yellow bus used to take to school. Come on. And I step off. He hits me in the back of the head. Nightfall I trip there goes my books. Right. I thought I was gonna have a chance to set my books down. You know who my sleeves up? Adjust my shirt hits me. And then you know, jumps on the show Me and he starts pounding and they break the fight up, really want to fight? So I get home and I'm all broke up, right? I'm like my mom said, What's wrong? You don't fight. Who Rick Who's Rick? Use my schooling and I tell the story. My mom just says you handle this tomorrow or I will. And this is how we're itwas Britt was Tom Wilson. Here's a bully. So the next day at school, literally, I said to him. We're fighting again today after school. And it was like, Oh, fight! Fight fight! So Um, I wish I would have done this the first time. Strike first strike hard Philbrick wish I would have known that. So the next day we're at school. We go to school, and I mean that there is tension. All the kids know because we got doing fighting the bus Stop. You know everybody. Oh, Duke's got his butt kicked by rent. What? So we get on back on the bus the same scenario and I gotta tell you guys, I pounded this guy. I handle my business. Written ever mess with me again. I've never mess with me again. I said to somebody on Social Media Day if I saw it right now, it's slapping. But you gotta hit bullies back, so I'm not mad at the Rangers for the way that they handled the situation. More set with Gary Bettman. George Perils for finding Tom Wilson 5000 measly dollars and then finding the Rangers because your feelings got hurt $200,000 or whatever it was. After the Rangers put out that statement basically saying You didn't do enough. Gary Bettman, you didn't do enough. How is this good for the game when the guy's been suspended five times, including a 14 game, Bannon in 2018, and then he just he just hurt Brandon Carlo a few weeks ago. So this is who he is. This is who he is. In the NHL obviously is endorsing this is that good for the sport? Is that going to bring more eyeballs to the NHL with his new deal in place or Is this what you want to see? Fighting has always been a part of it. I understand that I get it. You don't have the enforcers that one the way you want. It did on every team lagoons. I don't know how to explain Tom Wilson. And what he did. So you know, Wilson had the audacity afterwards, because just a couple of days ago, I'm feeling good. They ask him how I felt after the you got into it with Brendan Smith. Can we play? Bring the Smith real quick? This is from Brenda Smith of the Rangers. Talking about handling business. I have no beef with anybody else on their team. Uh, I thought That it should have been handled before this game, and it wasn't so Unfortunately, it had to be kind of on my shoulders and I thought I took it. You took it. You handled it, But Wilson's like, Yeah, I feel good. He's got cuts on his hand. From the fights. He's like, Yeah, you know, I reached out to the parent. He's in a better place, So I feel good about that. It's really what matters right now. Oh, so now you're sympathetic. Tom. Then he says, it seems this is a quote. It seems like a fairly routine hockey scrum to me. Yeah, I think it was, you know, kind of thing. Where? You know these things happen all the time. You're a bully. That's what you are. And you should have been fined and suspended from the NHL. It's that simple. But Gary Bettman, George parents didn't have the stones to do it. So this is where we are and teams having to take things or matters into their own hands. So expect to see more because Thomas is just getting away with this stuff. By the way, it's good player. The big guy. He's a good player. He's a champion. That doesn't take away from the style of play that he has. Doesn't take away from what he has been. NHL blew this..

Matt Essick producing this afternoon phone numbers 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Mike is in Cleveland. He wants to be on the radio, and now he is I, Mike. Good afternoon, everybody Hey, put in the last two years, I said I have the spokesperson for the Columbus Blue Jackets because our hockey team was in the playoffs two years ago. And I was got from the Tampa Bay Lightning. After We was up the win the game. He just walked up to the start busting not clear in the back of the head, right? And I got on the radio. We're trying to tell the people about it that they laughed about it. And then we played the Boston Bruins. In the same thing happened again and walk out of nowhere stars sucker punching up the nest players. Tom Castillo said. Let me be the enforcement going there to stop them Bullies. But then I heard you talking about it today and you say away to somebody comes up paralyzed. And then what they're going to do like that they find the guy $5000. You almost killed a guy. And then they find the team $250,000 for the safety of it. So I want to hear your perspective about that because I've been seeing this for the last two years. Yeah, Mike, I appreciate you checking in, I think. Thank you for, uh, for calling. There's a fine line between intimidation in the game. Protecting your turf, protecting your players, especially your small skilled players. They need to be protected. Intimidation has been a part of the game and I'm not against the you know the hard hitting Hockey related intimidation. It's when it crosses a line to reckless and I don't know you don't see the incidents that you are talking about with the blue jacket players, but I know the difference between Intimidation and More of a an intent to injure. Right? I mean, that's the difference. Are you intending to send a message or you're intending to injure and that's why I Mentioned earlier and preface before that. I was surprised that I'm surprised that the players Aren't Mork. Protective. Of each other. When it comes to Disciplining. Each other. I mean, if there's you know, give or take 25 guys on a team and there's 32 teams. That's a lot of people right and that's a lot of personalities, and they're not all gonna be Great citizens. You know, they're not all going to be Um They're not all going to have the intent that you wish that all players had And you need to police that and you need to be Part of policing that Assed players. You can't just leave it to the league. Many of the guys that are in the league offices or former players so It's just sort of astounding to me. That the players themselves Allow Tom Wilson to act the way he does, and it Undermines anyone trying to clean up the game if they were that upset. You know, for example, the on they wouldn't do this because they'd be find of million dollars or more, And it would Probably not change anything. But there was speculation, albeit quiet Speculation. In other words, it was hardly a hot that maybe the Rangers wouldn't play the next night. That they would not because the Capitals. Wilson was not suspended. That the Rangers would not take the ice against the Capitals for the second of the back to back games. Now, that didn't happen. They did take the ice. They had their stupid fights and You know, the game went on. It was worthless and It wasn't entertaining, and it wasn't anything but a delay of game basically. Uh, but there was speculation that they could do that. And if they had done that, of course, it would have sent a louder message. It also would have gotten the Rangers a much greater fine. And it would have caused you know all kinds of problems with Finances with Everyone who is televising the game and etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, so The recourse that the players have or that they've chosen to take is not very good, and it enables the time Wilson's of the world Because that video is pretty Damning. And When you are another player and you are suspended. You're going to say, Are you telling me that what I did is worse than this. Because he only got a $5000 fine for this. So if you're going to give me more than that, it better be worth. Worse than this video. I'm showing you have Tom Wilson. And you know that that's the door they've opened. But as I mentioned and keep coming back to it, cause it's central to everything we talk about. They'll do what they want. You know, there's no no governing board that's going to stop them. You know, it's it's what we said about the NC double A for year. The college presidents Get what they want from the answer. Double a And when they don't they'll try to get out of the NC. Double A, but it is their show. And these commissioners. Are just spokespeople. There. Sean Spicer's of the world. They just speak for the person they work for. They don't come up with ideas. They're not Problem solvers. They do contracts. With television, mostly And Other contracts, which, uh, Related advertising, and they have underlings handle most of those. But they do these TV contracts. And they're all geniuses. And they all stay employed 30 years or more like David Stern and Gary Bettman and Bud Seelig because the money goes up every year. Jerry Jones is still the general manager of the Cowboys, because the money goes up every year. And the fact that they haven't won since 1996 doesn't mean anything. To the Cowboys and made something to their fans. But the organization is just fine. Because their revenue and profit margin is up every year, and as long as the TV money continues to come in, it will be up every year. Whether I run it or Jerry runs it. Doesn't make any difference. Cause this is inactive money. It's coming from the league. It's not coming from Dallas. Coming from the league and it split up 32 ways. See all these pats on the back for Bettman because they have this new deal next year. It automatically escalates. You know until the ratings go down until people Find something else to do. But how many? How many conversations again with people all without? There's nothing on TV. Well, there's nothing Nothing to watch. 100 stations has nothing on You hear it all the time. People watch sports. And news..

"Whereas Wilson's is like predatory you know like Martian was a pest and I'm not you know Marsha needed some stupid stuff and not a team in bad situations and Cassidy was right to have that heart-to-heart summer dinner with him and his family. Like dude you can be so much better as what else to say, like Wilson, still puts up a good amount of points and I do feel like if you took the dog Share out of like, hey, I'm going to stop being such a jackass. I'm going to like just play the game they put up or points better. And also doesn't help that he's got no accountability from like 15 8 series, coach or anything like that. Like, I look at someone brought up the point that member in 2013 when Shawn Thornton slewfoot all pic and knocked him out when he was already down the ice bad play everyone right away like nausea and you should have done that, right? Like after the game called, Julian was like, ya know, he did, he did, you know, he took him to task, he did the wrong thing, he knows it's wrong. We're going to pay the consequences for it from Worcester like, banging, guys around. You've got people Lafayette, not saying anything like what? He did making excuses for him. After the Carl thing was fucking embarrassing, ovechkin's going to complain about even though of Education like rocks people get any calls for it. You have the cash portion that bullshit ass to eat like after after that game they immediately delete if you got roasted for. So he's also in this culture where you know, he's viewed as being like everyone's across So, we have to be in the right right. I know, maybe you got keeps on running guys, and then it shows have the balls to take him to task. So It All Leads to situations. You got this team that has this guy and he can get held accountable for it at all. And again we all know how it's going to end. Yeah. Oh yeah. No, that that's how it is going to end. And that's that's what's sad because this could have been avoided. You could have suspended in fifteen years after what happened the other night. I mean, just like there were so many things that actually on that play that sequence against the Rangers. We're through narrowed down, you have to change. There were so many things that actually went. Right, right? Life, which Davis was not seriously injured from the punch to that. Go ahead, parents had did not fully hit the ice. Like parents had could have slammed against the ice and you would have had a much bigger issue. So, like Thursday, at the very least, that didn't happen, but that's still easily could have happened. And at the fact that it's like, was headed at the ice. Well, so what if you shoot at someone in the bullet? Misses does that all. It's okay..

"Like in his mind, he probably think. Oh, you know, the Rangers are can take care of Tom Wilson, you know, let him go back. What would be the reason? But like that makes sense, makes no sense to me with the repeat that off with the offences. Tom Wilson's had in the past the dirty hits, the dirty plays, even the ones this year. How that was not suspend what you punch, a guy in the back of the head. On the on the ice guys, on the ice pack in, no position to you. If you know, guy runs into your goalie, you can grab them, grab them but don't punch him in the back of the head. And then when you and then, my favorite part is this is probably damaged in our thoughts are n't, which Davis is defenseless and then it's art. Any pain Aaron? Who's like a hundred and seventy pounds? Yeah, like tennis player in or with two now for the grants and the wage. Didn't have anything to play for after, you know, Monday, they're out of the playoffs. But what if that was, I don't know if that was passed or not coming to the fence of a teammate, which you would like to see, right, wouldn't be a fair fight. If he got scrapped up with Wilson but you want Wilson to drop him by his head. That's that's that's a great thing. It's like all you is prayer just grabbed him because he's defending a teammate. Now, all wheel says to do is turn around and juicy crab been there and back and that's it. That's it. That's all you have to do. You could shove them in launched them, like down the ice like yeah, yeah. Like yeah, you don't have to, you don't have to grab him by his hair ripped, his helmet off and then throw him out the temper. Tantrum of like, the anger management issue, the anger issues of Tom Wilson. And that moment were, just so obvious. Like, just, dude, chill out, chill out. And that's, that's one part. I also, I also this, I said this to you over text, cuz it's been odd to me. It's been eating me a bit and it's not that big a deal..

"Basically just took him by the hair and throws them down and then punches him twice in the face while he's down on the ice like wheels on top of them know. Suspension Wilson was fined. Five thousand for the Puccini of each thing. Yeah. Put your name and she was not fine for Panera if I remember correctly. So then obviously the Rangers come out with a huge statement that just blasting to Estero, disgusting act of violence. The horrifying, those horrifying active. Yes, I'm sorry. Yes, horrifying, horrifying act of violence and then no suspension. And then last night or Wednesday, Thank God. This game was on NBC built, like six fights in the first like, five minutes. So I, we actually my opening Jake on this cuz I know you'll focus more on Wilson. I'm off on the Rangers actually on this I was very impressed with how they handled things. I know that sounds really weird because they lost the game after they got beat up like they you know, they're fined or 50,000, they lost their president, they lost their GM and they can say, it's unrelated to that. If it is it is if it isn't, it isn't so they had a weird tough job of four days on paper but when you really look at it they had nobody on that roster who was really good enough, you know, skill-wise to fight, Tom Wilson to even fight like you know the other guy's garnered Hathaway and you know the other guys there you know, you you know, Carl hagelin, you know, is it still in a Ryan strome? I always forget. Ryan, right? One of those dreams, I lose track of all them. It's definitely Ryan. One of the storms. That's right. So, so you've all these got, you have them fighting and standing up for Panache standing up for their teammate. They're pissed off. They just got eliminated. They did all the right things. They did all the right things. They went out and they stood up for their guys because the league wouldn't and again off last night or Wednesday night doesn't happen if the league just simply suspends Tom Wilson. So that was my takeaway was like the Rangers stepped up stood up to their guy. Did what they had to do and even a social media page him, social media simply got a statement, due date to do so. To me, my biggest take away from that. I just, you know, Wilson's dirty and everything and should have been suspended. But the Rangers actually, I did what they had to do. So respect to them for that camper respected. Yeah, no, I think you look at it from the other perspective of the capitals and the NHL in particular and you know what, the NHL's frigging look at the ratings down..

Will the Boston Bruins Ever Fix Their Power Play?
"Those practices that burns will have, I imagine a large portion, it's going to be devoted to fixing that power play, just because it's been stuck in a rough way for a long time, I think since April 8th, the Bruins have six total power-play goals and four of them have come from Craig Smith. And and another one is kind of stupid crazy. I mean, you can make the case. You like just from the I test that the second unit has looked a lot better than the first for a long, long time now. So they have to do something to to get that first pulp a unit rolling. Whether it's worth switching a Personnel or Bruce Cassidy is always identified troubles with entries as being a thing that's really going to hurt that top power-play unit over the last month. So I think they've got to really kind of fix that and not make it be you know I don't think you want you expect you to jump from where it is right now to all Cynthia not top three unit again right. I don't think you're going to have that whether it's just like it's not the cards at guys on exit game. I'm gonna Torey Krug. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I don't think either you're going into it. Expecting them to cash in on, you know, thirty percent of their chances, but you're still need more than the output. You're getting off. Because I think you know, right now the Bruins is, the deadline are outscoring teams at even-strength 37 to 15, which is crazy. It's crazy that there there's going this many of the 2011 Bruins now, where it's like, wow, they're, you know, they're dissecting teams on even strain for them to hopefully, kills, all the momentum. Pretty much been the case for a month now. So if you even get that power-play back to, you know, 20% over this this long stretch, it goes a whole a long way. Especially in the playoffs, in terms of Just Landing more punches against the opponent's. So I think in terms of x's and o's power plays probably stands out the most to me. Yeah.

NHL Fines Rangers $250K for Criticizing Player Safety Call
"Completely manhandled and brutalized multiple players for the Rangers. The Rangers put out a statement on Twitter that was very heavy handed in a bunch of different ways. This has come down a short time ago. The NHL has find the New York Rangers. $250,000 further public comments to 50 public comments of the nature issued by the Rangers that were personal in nature into meaning of a league executive will not be tolerated. So it just sort on the same page. Tom Wilson gets $5000 and no games. For almost ending the career of a dude by dragging him by the hair and bouncing him off the ice. But the Rangers make a statement about that and get fined 50 times that amount. Yeah, it seems fair. While we don't expect our clubs to agree with every decision rendered by the Department of Player safety, the extent to which the Rangers expressed their disagreement was unacceptable. It is terribly unfair to question George Parker's professionalism and dedication to his role in the Department of Player safety.

"Looking forward to speaking to him. I haven't been able to root for Individual player in the NHL like I've rooted for him since Mario Lemieux so and you, rob, of course, instigators w g R 5 15 mst robbery with us here for the first hour, so We'll be able to join us with Michael Houser, who is Do I dare say. Taking the NHL by storm. I mean, he's fantastic right now, and it is such a fantastic story and we'll get more. We'll get into that a little bit more here shortly. What is taking the hockey world by storm, though Is the Tom Wilson lack of suspension and what a divide I have never seen such a divide over something like this in a long time, But when it comes to a hockey hit, and probably was this player to that we're the divide was created. Um and Conner Mc David two more points last night. Is he closing in on just historical feet? That hasn't been accomplished in many, many years. So, um We'll talk all about that, Rob. Good morning, Craig. Good morning. What a night last night here in buffalo, but I don't know where your head's air at Michael Hauser is an amazing story, but come on. What's going on around the NHL is is with the Tom Wilson thing is hysterical. T O say the least. To use the proper word. I guess. I guess my question that caught my mind when you're speaking there, Petey was the big divide. And my question is, Do you think it's a big divide? Or do you think that there's the majority of the people that feel that you know, One thing should happen with Tom Wilson? And there's a few that are stepping up saying that no, I we feel that there's something else said that. What do you think, Rob? Well, I'm I'm a bad one to talk to about this, and I think I expressed my opinion last night, but I think about how to go Well. It's a tough argument because You know you you look at a player Does he have to be under control of his emotions of what he's doing? Yes, all that kind of thing. But Still, it comes down to the game itself. That way The game is played. You know what Tom Wilson situation the other night? Duty Did he need to take it to that extreme? They probably not. But it's out there and it's part and I still continue to fall back on. Lack of Being able to be allowed to police the game within the game. The players And I think that just it falls back to that an awful lot. And a lot of people don't want to hear it because it goes back to maybe the fighting side of the game that you know, there's so many people against now. But stuff like that wouldn't happen to those kind of players. If There was, you know the possibility that guys could control things on the ice themselves. I think it gets to a point sometimes where Some of those guys were taken advantage of because of it, because Who is Tom Wilson have to fear in this league. Nobody and especially in this division. Nobody that he could just go play his game and tried to intimidate duty. Ever Ask you saying, Is it right? You know what? It's it's part of the game, but Um I just think that people make such a big deal about it. Did you watch the game last night to see the highlights with Crosby fighting your wrestling? Somebody in the corner last night? You see with Philadelphia? Yeah. Did you see how he takes his friends and down to the ice? Okay. Are we hearing anything today about Sidney Crosby should be, you know, suspended. You don't for slamming connect me down onto the ice under his head. You know when they're wrestling in the corner? Absolutely not. You're only hearing it because it's Tom Wilson, who has a track history of of playing dirty at times, and, you know So that that is the part that I kind of have a problem because there's a double standard on who's doing it and what's happening who it's against. I'm not sure there if you have seen what I'm sure everyone has seen or heard, But the New York Rangers issued a statement. Probably went every everybody went tol look up with the definition of derelict was but The New York Rangers are extremely disappointed. The capital's forward Tom Wilson, was not suspended for his horrific, horrifying act of violence last night at Madison Square Garden. Wilson is repeat offender with a long history of these types of acts and we we find it shocking that the NHL and their Department of Player Safety failed to take the appropriate action and suspend him indefinitely. Wilson's dangerous and reckless actions caused an injury to our temp in Aaron that will prevent him from playing again this season. We don't know if that's actually fact could be, But I'm not taking away that he not hurt, but They also were out of the playoffs so you can sit him out, say he's heard to make it look worse than it really is. So, you know, show me a memory. We view this as a dereliction of duty by the head of player safety George Parros and believe he is unfit to continue in his current role. That's a that's a bold statement. Carton If you want a movie quote Well, we'll see if you know what the fine for that's gonna be. That's that's a lot of that's a lot of harsh words being thrown out by I guess, one of the storied franchises here in the National Hockey League in the Rangers, but You know, I mean, the way I look at it is Rob.

"James the name amy bacher stats might vaguely call up some glimmer of memory. Actually if you're a pga fan. I know you know because you've talked about a number of occasions and this was the young woman twenty. Two years of age became an internet sensation when she paired with gary woodland on the sixteenth. Toll of the t. p. scottsdale read ahead of the phoenix. Hope open and bhakkar stat. Impressed everybody on a par three at a shot into the sand off. T nice chip eight foot. Putt for par. And everybody's pretty impressed by that and And by the way. Amy has down syndrome and out. How special story was that. That was one of the feel good stories of that year. Oh god wept like a child. Took me to what the fourth time where i finally stopped. It was just because gary woodland you can hear them just at storybook stuff right storybook stuff. It was unreal and she made a par mate three and i like most maybe looked at a go. Oh my god this can go so bad here. What are you gonna do you know. What's the plan here. If with sir takes can't get out of the bunker whatever right is no no got up and down. The trap made the guy footer for three It was just storybook absolute storybook right and he was choked up. And yeah i was just the best thing we'd seen in a long time. You know that that. I had or one art one of my favorite things about sports right it was. It was really nice story to watch for sure to see kind of this dream of a lifetime thing. Anyway the dream continues for amy bacher stat because she will become. I guess Let the next week. Next week she'll become the first collegiate athlete with down syndrome to compete for a national title as she participates in the n. j. c. aa national championships in florida and that stands for the the jc in there s for junior college and Yeah i mean. I don't know how big a contender she's going to be. I don't know much about her game but that is pretty exciting that she even gets an opportunity to compete there and good for her. that's fantastic. Yeah it's it. It's on when i read that. I'm like holy men of i don't know how good she is steve. Like i haven't as you play tournaments. I don't know. I don't know what i saw with gary woodland. I don't know yeah. Another neat thing to the whole angle to it. If you'll recall one of the things that i think it was before her pot when she was with gary woodland that day i think she said something along the lines of i got this right right right and from there. Her family created the. I got this foundation a year later and it provides golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and Speaking on behalf of someone who has a son with autism. I think to myself how special that is because You know that's always something. I think about you know when my daughter was playing hockey throughout the years. My son was always at the game. And if they do it will mean george perez head it will meet because you will have like i said earlier you have rendered is abilities and power you have rendered it totally. Moot be just You'd have to. You'd have to fire him to do it because again. I don't remember them ever saying oh we made a mistake. We're gonna 'cause had all day it all data look at this video rack sideways backwards up and down zoom in zoom out and he came up with that freaking decision that that that level of consequence so yeah it may happen. "They don't play as much anymore. I don't think yeah. He was lighting it up before he got suspended like he had close to a point. Game going over a ten game stretch so very nice player imposing don't wanna mess with them guy a loved to have in front of the net and he's a despite the smirk everybody has oh you if you went seven and l. and then you lost me you got back well. That's that really is truly a coincidence. And tom wilson is a guy you want your team for sure. There's some issues that i have. I have sabres to rattle jimmy. Oh lifesavers to rydell okay. First of all in in the game late saturday night. The san jose sharks Are absolutely furious about a faceoff violation. They believe cost them the hockey game. They're calling it a travesty. So the play was patrick. Marleau is handed a two minute minor and the scores tied to too early in the third period the blues then scored twelve seconds into the ensuing man advantage and they would never relinquish the lead. Bob bogner the sharks coach various upset. No explanation horrible call. I guess he wants spun too early or something. I don't know of watched it three times. It's completely fine. And by the way. It's patrick marlowe. The guy's going to set gordie house record and you through in the blocks and it affected the whole game. Just use your head and devon dubna sharks. Goalie says it's embarrassing it's mouse i don't care if you wanna say. Follow the rule book. It's completely ridiculous to make a call like that in a two to hockey game in the third period in the middle of the season. I don't know what to say. It's incredible and the blues added a couple. More goal is to win that game. Five to two and I don't blame them for being upset by it. But i'm not sure he can blame the application of the rule. I think the complaints should lie with the existence of the rule. Yeah yeah like like. If you don't call something then then this is stupid then then. Don't ever call it right mike. If we've gone years and years without this thing ever being called le let's le- let's leave it out even if it's still a rule steve right okay. There's reasons they don't call that stuff cheating on face offs and all that stuff they. They got the option. Kick the guy out bring another guy in so it's kind of i. I'm with them a little bit on that. I'm with them a little bit. Like what what the what the f. voice here who's call in that you know their whole their whole take afterwards that it costs them. The game and all that stuff wasn't an overtime here and it wasn't at the end of the third It wasn't in seventh game of.

31 Thoughts: The Podcast
Washington Capitals' Tom Wilson suspended seven games by NHL for hit on Boston Bruins' Brandon Carlo
"Elliot seven game suspension for tom wilson. I don't wanna go over. They can prejudice a jury here. I don't want to go over the usual arguments here about did he. Didn't he intention all that kind of stuff. That always gets itself played out hysterically on twitter and we saw that fire tonight and over the weekend and no these conversations going to happen. But what are some of the questions that you had going into the tom wilson hearing and are you surprised that he had one in the first place and does any part of a seven game suspension. Surprise you you know. I think the most interesting thing i've found is that you know there are a lot of people who believed that. He only got suspended. Because he's tom wilson And that if it was just about any other player in the nhl who delivered that hit. We wouldn't be talking about anything here. And i think the capitals believe that. I mean you heard peter laviolette save. I saw the the hit. I mean his feet round the ice. He stayed down with everything. Looks like a hard hit in the corner of not not exactly sure what happened but to me. It looked like just a hit. You heard ovechkin call it a joke And one of the things we talked about on. Fridays podcast was. How frederick drove the capitals crazy on the wednesday night game the night to game two nights earlier when he was all over ovechkin than ovechkin spirit him and you were the one who asked okay. How was he allowed to do this. And then two days later they play again and on the shift with carlo. Wilson tries to engage frederick a couple of times. And frederick's noah got a constant winning a game here and he runs over carlo you know. Maybe he was frustrated. I don't know i i. I don't know how wilson would explain it but you know. Saturday is a day. I make a of my phone calls and i asked around legalized and people are just generic conversation. It came up. What do you think about wilson how bad you think he's gonna get it and i did have a lot of people say to me if this was anyone other than number forty three on the capital's nobody would even be talking about this. Nobody would be if it was a hit that anyone else delivered. It wouldn't be a penalty or suspension. A lot of people felt them. But that's what happens when you have the history right. All of a sudden people look at you differently. You don't get the benefit of the doubt name Four hundred other players in the league if they throw that hit they get nothing but because of his history. That's what happened in this case. Like i really believe probably looked at elliot. Moore's while that was a tough hit with a bad outcome. But because his tom. But but i think generally predisposed to assume the worst when it comes to tom wilson but that's a reputation that earned so on friday night. He throws the hit because there was head contact. The first thing everybody looks at is rule forty eight yep illegal check to the head and is the head the main point of contact and the answer there is no this is my guess. My guess is that the people in the nhl department of players safety said this is not a rule forty eight and then when they started thinking about it they looked at it and they're like we don't like this. Is there anything else it is and if you read rule forty one which is boarding. You know it's there you can make that argument. And i think that's exactly what happened. Is they made that argument. And they said that's boarding. Now it's new president's you know that's not the way boarding tends to get called boarding tends to get called when a guy has hit from behind and carl wasn't hit from behind i think that's one of the things that the capitals and possibly the players association discussed wise. You guys don't call boarding like this and at the end of the day that's why it wasn't also like thirty or forty games because boarding doesn't carry those kinds of suspensions historically the highest boarding penalty i could find. I suspension was zac. Rinaldo in two thousand fifteen. It was eight games. Right and wilson gets seven. So i think that's why he got less. You know the other thing. Is you know the capitals argued. It was a clean hit like some other people had said to me and the league just felt the totality of it all was illegal.

"They really live. And that's in their waltz. Yeah it's a team sport right. It's a team sport. So if you're if you're going to run around like a maniac or you. Are you going to do a really agree. Gis thing okay. You've got to do something to harm the team. I think i'll tell you what steve if they said. Okay skirt you do that stuff. The ref has discretion. Okay it's two guys in the box for two minutes okay. That's gonna stop that shit. Well that would be interesting. Go right to five on three scenario in a situation like that. I can't see that happening. But i certainly wouldn't complain about it and and like i say when it comes to head injuries in hockey i mean you look at this story. That's going on right now with The unfortunate passing of team. Usa miracle on ice water mark pavlovich. Who passed away over the weekend. There's a guy that quite clearly had head injuries from his time in hockey and And he had all kinds of struggles with it. He was undergoing treatment at a facility after he was charged with assault for fighting a neighbor couple of years ago and then we may have even talked about it on the show. He was found incompetent to stand trial because he was deemed by the judge to be dangerous and have mental illness. Like say passed away on the weekend and You have the new york rangers captain from in and around the era of mark pavlik who absolutely wrote a scathing facebook post blaming the rangers and usa hockey for the death of pavlovich and Is actual passing was on thursday at the age of sixty three and i guess John davidson who was the goalie at the time He was right at the center of this thing. He wasn't the goalie at the time. I should say as a former ranger goalie and at the time he was the club. President and berry back was ripping absolutely everyone including john davidson Let me see if i can find the part here. I saw i saw part of it. Yeah yeah blasted. Davidson is rangers teammate. Of four years for not returning an email asking that the organization publicly show their support for mark by just by just saying one of their own former players was sick and we wish him well. Jd didn't even return my email. I guess he was to f. busy. He should have picked up the phone and cold me. That would have been the right thing to do as we were teammates and he certainly would have my back right and so back had a lot of things to say called the rangers in the league. Cowards for avoiding these conversations about the lasting impact on the brain and head injury suffered while playing hockey can abso. Yeah and by the way the cause of his death is still under investigation. This is the kind of conversation that could happen thirty years from now when people talk about. What did you really do to slow down again. Tom wilson yeah. First of all. I think barry beck handled it the wrong way. I can hear his frustration. I read some of it today. A bunch of that stuff. And i think he's wrong a little bit coming out and blaming john davidson blaming the new york rangers for not talking about this thing. I think the nhl is trying to do that. I think concussion awareness and player safety. It's not perfect. I mean we just spoke about it right for that. Suspension is doesn't. It doesn't do it for me right now because they're not harming teams and it'll stop that that's the only way i think it'll stop but right so obviously frustrated knee jerk. Reaction may be john. Davidson is the president of the new york rangers and said he didn't return an email. John probably i. Johns great guy by the way i know him and and so john. They're going to be busy. So i i think it was. Unfair of him nailing. These people saying. You're not doing anything about this. I don't know what you think. Steve but i think i think the league is. I think they're trying not perfect. The other the other problem is stevie. They can't figure out Concussion what what's it called steve. Ct cte. yeah i i. It's something i don't have the actual. Yeah okay medved cdt. For sure right but the only way that can determine if that's what you suffer from is is after you die correct. They can't they can't do it right so it's a really complicated thing so i think russell always said this about other guys right who freak out athletes who freak out about a cause and stuff like that. They would do much better to maybe handle it with a little more grace. Instead of you know. I wrote an email and the guy didn't get back to me and rip them shred limb from limb. If you if you want to really help bury then. Then get hold of them. Crocodile log right as opposed to doing so aggressively steve. I don't know if that makes sense Well we're come some slack. On a couple of cases and by the way see is chronic traumatic and cephlon apathy. Butch that last word but and his Pavlidis sister absolutely believed that her brother suffered from cte. But like you say you really you can't you can't find out until after someone has died because you have to basically get in there Autopsy right exactly. So the reason i cut very back some slack is a. He's in morning We all aren't ourselves when You know someone close to his passes away so good. He's absolutely emotional. And then the other part is he did go back on sunday onto facebook with a second post said friday. I wrote an emotional post that stirred some controversy. I understood everything. I said and was soon thereafter contacted by john davidson years ago. John mark and i were teammates with the rangers. John and i discussed the remarks made we both respect each other and agreed that at this time it's best we focus on mourning the death of mark so he kind of had a couple of days to think about it and Kind of walk things back a little I think he regrets going public with something so emotional and so scathing But it didn't sound like you walk it fully back. It sounds like he's still kind of believes what he had said. He just sorta going lamb. Maybe my timing was off there. And maybe i should get a little milder with with my approach but it sounds like he. He's still upset with the rangers and the nhl. I it's you bring up a really interesting thing right because it's been going on for why i don't know if they're still a class. Action suit by a bunch of players may have been settled. I i'm sure the league had to settle with some of the guys. I think it's still lingering. Yeah because i think jeff gordon was part of it. I think i think gary leeman is part of that deal. There's there's a few other household names that you and i would know So that's ongoing right so there's some stuff going on there but when you see that incident last night or whenever that game was this week where wilson you know you talk about some. That's gonna be really curious over the next little while particularly steve when this guy dies from it you know. Listen some guys can die from from from at an early age for other things. But it's looking that way we we won't know yet until they do the autopsy but it happens at the same time you know. That story about barry beck breaks and then you see that thing last night in sports and you and i don't know where it takes steve to think about it but there's two places one is one is outrage right. That that i see by the league not penalizing enough. Like i said and some of it is some of it is. You're you're you know you're you pay your money. You pay the price you know. And i may get kicked in the head for that but you kind of know going in steve you kind of know going in that if you play football or if you box or you play hockey or you're an enemy fighter.

"Seven games for a hit against the boards on boston's brandon carlo. And it was well ugly in every way hit can be ugly. It was basically carlo up against the boards. Got the pocket and his skates. And wilson comes up and pretty much collides with the side of the guy's head and he left the game due to injury and It was just and it's not one of those deals where he can sort of. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Tom wilson continually runs into trouble with the nhl law and I mean these seven game. Suspensions four-game game suspensions the they just don't seem to be getting through to this guy. Now what did you think of him. There's no doubt in my mind that that he's lining up the guy's head okay whether shoulder right. That's the big hit right. That's the big hit when you when you leave the ice. Hers people incorrectly. See all the time. He left his feet. You know when he when he's leaving the isis the guys up against the boards. I think he's not even looking at him. Got his head down and this guy sort of lays into them with a shoulder to connect with his head. Okay so that's that's a terrible brutal disgusting dirty hidden hockey. Triple that stevie. When you're looking at the guys had up against the glass and you're gonna go smashing. You know like the guy the guys up the guys up against the boards and there's his his face might even be against the glass when he does it steve. It's just freaking heinous man idea. I thought i. That's what i thought when i looked out said that's like punching a guy down steve that's like punching a guy when his heads on the ice and you know as heads on the ice right. They don't do it right. You seldom see that right. The guy will pull up. What was the example. Last week was a beautiful example. The guy waving the linesmen and because he was going to use going to murder the kitty was fighting right. Yeah but this guy. I think he. He saw it from a mile away in terms of hockey speed. You know like you have a good two seconds there and tried to smash his head like a pumpkin into the glass. That's what i that's what i saw. Elsie the same. I mean and it's and it's this guy it's one of those deals where maybe i'm throwing around benefit of doubt of. It's somebody who's never done something like this before because it is a fast game and guys move the last second but there's nothing i can find here where i i can even begin to go down that road. A it's is tom wilson. You know if there's been a murder and there's a serial killer hanging around the scene of the crime. I'm gonna probably look his way and not given benefit of the doubt It's tom wilson and brandon. Carlo is totally stationary up against the boards. There was one today it was. Let's see. I think it was chicago in saint. Louis i wanna say and There was a big hit Behind the net and I mean it was one where he could look at and say okay. Well that's second go either way but this one was just. This is a guy. Carlos stationary against the boards. He didn't change direction. Didn't spin at the last second. He's totally still. And this guy had really his choice of where he wanted to hit him and He clearly chose get the the good. Maybe do the most damage knock this guy goofy. Get the puck and off. I go and intimidating. That's tom wilson's game. And so it's that's that's the frustrating part of it but more than that though it's hard for me to get to work out a budget anymore. Because the nhl at large doesn't seem to care that much y'all through a seven game suspension. Well this guy's been suspended repeatedly in the league and It doesn't seem to change anything for him and they don't ever seem to want to do something more fierce with this guy really seem to care that much. Yeah here's the problem with hockey. Steve compared to look at the nfl. For example okay. So you don't you don't get too much dirty stuff in the nfl. Okay but when you when you do when you have an infraction in the nfl. Okay face masking right blocking from behind you know. What do they call a crack blocking. Think you can't you can't drop right and Outright that stuff is really harmful to your team right. Fifteen yard penalty man. Okay automatic first down a huge game changer. Giving a guy a five minute major or a two minute penalty. Forget this suspension for a sec. It's not that big a deal in the nhl teams trained for that they practice for that shit all day long. Five hundred four five four and that's for minor infractions. that's for stuff that maybe arguably a penalty or not so the what the so. This guy getting seven games for big deal. Big deal house that harm his team. Yeah wasn't even a penalty call in the game not even minor penalty on right. So so you gotta do steve. What the league. What what they have to do is You know they got you got you got i. Don't sit two guys in the box or something you know he has call. I'll tell you what man that's that's five on three for four minutes or something or they gotta get way more drastic steve. Because that guy's going to look at that and all the teams are going to go. Okay don't worry about it buddy. You know you've got your seven yeah. You shouldn't have done it but we get you know it's no big deal right it. What what happens if they lose wilson. I may be speaking out. I don't know how good this guy is. I don't i don't follow wash. He can't eat. He's got some offensive upside and he's not superstar by any stretch. But he's definitely a guy you on your lineup. Yeah like the whole idea. Steve of suspensions and penalties okay and infractions and calling them is so guys. Don't do it again okay. So you stop doing that. Right and players. No you can't trip or guy so they try not to right and when they do. It's two minutes we get we get it okay but when it comes to more severe penalties. Ironically they don't do enough you know it doesn't harm your team right. There's no harm here to the team. There's no big deal it doesn't it's not gonna change a thing for them replace guy we get. We don't have to play twenty guys instead of twenty. We're not down on me in this. They weren't even down a man got to lead the lumber somewhere they got to come up with something way stricter than than what they're doing you know. Look at basketball right. You harm guy. Okay right to the line right to the line near and you're gonna score point here right right and hockey like i dunno. Go go try and crush the guy's head in and you're gonna. You're what happens. While there's i don't know if what we get the other day. Five thousand dollar fine for spurring a guy in the business for spirit of the in the groin. I think i was texting. I you know the mind money. He's making plus. The team probably covers it. I don't know but i if you're other players if not for player safety sake though the. Nhl should be really strict on this just for their own well-being financially. Because you know if you're serving a a big message to the whole world that you're soft on this stuff and someone like brandon carlo. Thirty years from now has c- t. and his family's like doesn't recognize him anymore and they're gonna come suing like what kind of a climate trying to in the nhl back in In that day when brandon carlo played to you know really prove that you were about protecting guys heads and brains and To continually. Allow tom wilson. To do what he does that's That's not going to sit well with the court of law in when it comes to lawsuits and such in the future. So that's that's something. The nhl should be thinking about if not player safety than where.

Washington DC’s Tom Wilson Not Penalized For Hit On Boston Bruins’ Brandon Carlo
"Almost literally took a 51 beating in Boston and in their four game win streak and pretty miserable fashion. It was a physical game, one that included a controversial Tom Wilson hits on Brandon Carlo that was not penalized. That sent Carlo to the hospital. The Bruins then had a three goal second period after that place, so coach Peter Laviolette, it's fair to ask. Did you guys get sidetracked by all the physical play? We knew it was gonna be physical. You know, you hear what's coming out of their locker room. You knew it was gonna be a more competitive game. The first game was physical. And so I don't know if we got sidetracked. I don't know if we were surprised that it was a physical game. I think where we got it all done tonight is that we're from a defensive standpoint, There's too many quality chances. There was too many backdoor tap ins. Backdoor plays where we could have done something better defensively, and our goaltenders really had no chance. Korpisalo continues CBJ domination of Capitals
"All right so last night as we've been talking about on the show it was a fantastic night for Columbus blue jacket fans and the Columbus blue jackets and boy corpus although I can't say enough about him and and his performance last night let's bring in the sideline reporter for reset reporter for foxsports Ohio in the Columbus blue jackets Dave Matt's old Matt's year in Detroit right now yes are not just Detroit it's beautiful downtown Detroit I mean if this place is phenomenal so last night let's start with last night boy I I don't know what the feeling was around there but boy it was really fun to watch corporate solid do its thing last night Hey look I'm not talking to I I want to forget about the rest of the team as well but let's face it they were quality parts flying at him all night long and this guy was just you know stop after stop after stop in the blue jackets they boy they just they cranked it up last night it was really really fun to watch Hey boys look towards has been saying for a couple of weeks that this isn't a five hundred hockey team because the goaltending and he meant that as a compliment your goal of corpus all he has kept this team in games that they otherwise has no business being in even at one nothing overtime loss in Pittsburgh after that game towards the quote this game could therefore nothing very easily in the favor of Pittsburgh but it wasn't because of course the last night might have been his best of the year if you go back up maybe a week before that Alaska because Washington that might have been his best game of the year until last night he's really plays at a really high level and and eliminated one of the big question marks right going into the season only what was it well I think you want to answer that question very very well yeah boy yeah it was again I saw you you talk to him but right after the game there and he just sees a he just seems like a cool customer man he just seems unfazed right now and I think last night maybe even a little more growing and and this is just based on I don't know that clearly you don't that that like what he was doing last night isn't something you just all the sudden discovered obviously it's there the talent is there he's got the chops and that was as good a performance of we've seen from Bob as far as what your listed last night especially when you consider the team and the people who are coming out of all night rolled out about and that's a really good way to characterize it through the first two periods Aliso basket at night job and they've also got a great second line which is centered bikers that soft yes you J. Oshie on that line yes Sir could run on that one Backstrom is the back in the lineup for for about a week or so so you're talking about a team that has five or six guys with four points then the blue jackets leading scorer that is really quite a lot of fire power coming at your school to someone last night all and I think and it's not because the guy asking me in posted it got to be almost personal between him and and that's good right Michael veterans like I would this guy was there with this guy yeah Jana stood tall on every shot he thinks it was really really fun to watch and really encouraging for the future of that goal tending position with the blue jackets no doubt about it second time only so far drops the gloves last year and I'm telling you man it was offer that goon Wilson and and him but basically what he Louis left is free to you he was he that that check was not a check that was a dirty shot in any more on that going on right now Meryl they'll be no trouble dental discipline for Tom Wilson even though he's left it like that and in even towards called after games like that needless yet yeah well why you with what you would do that at that point the game the game is already sealed up but yes savvy yeah I was talking about the are there some the game of life if you have a fight I can't remember him ever having a fight it won't be hold a third period there was his second time NHL fight he didn't even look like a fighter because he's not a fighter but the fact that he went back after Wilson after that cheap shot it was a really good side it builds a lot terms of team unity that kind of thing right in the sense of art is a big dude so he's gone Hey you know maybe even though he's not he's not a fighter but he's gone Hey pick on somebody a little bit more your own size and I I love it man him stand up like that that was that was really cool to actually see that and you're right I can't believe they're not going to do nothing's going to come down for Wilson especially when it's needless and clearly was frustration man they they're just they're helpless they're like why can't we can score on these guys it was making him crazy and it's not just core be I mean everybody is in the right place sticks in the right place I mean more deflecting were you know re direct I mean it was it was just crazy was the perfect storm last night yeah it much like the game a week prior in Washington there six were good there they were playing on their toes they scored only court made that stand up until they could add a little bit of insurance in the third period it was just all on one hand it make you say wow these guys are really played a great game on the other hand why don't you like this on more nights why do we have to suffer through games like we saw in Pittsburgh and to a certain extent an audible work they were facing at the pleaded team and could not score how does happen so I'm sure it's a little bit frustrating for the coaching staff as well but there's still time they they've got themselves we had a late fall will be here plays but there is still time they have to win tonight are you in our testing about this early but they have to win tonight or completely deflate what happened last night right when they got to come back Thursday and beat the kings way and get some momentum going here because I've got some games that should be what about games between now and Christmas thank god some guys who were called up last night too and will they be starting again tonight I would imagine well the good news about tonight is the best news is as accurate he comes back a week and a half earlier than anybody expected wow that's awesome he's going to come back in the lineup he's a Detroit kid obviously grew up rooting for the red wings that that was a one hundred percent blue jacket that'll really really be a nice addition especially with some of these injured injuries that they suffered in the in the Ottawa so yeah but you know listen you had that Kevin Stedman called up and Marco dental cold up with those guys well is there a work on the fourth one you have Eric Robinson who still learning the NHL game score a big goal last night off a great feat from Alexander text yearly towards talks about developing players these are young players who are developing right before our eyes and people like that I don't wanna you're developing other one who developing a what is your playoff push and all that kind of stuff but I think we're seeing a mix of it right now it's still hoping that they can make a push for a playoff spot and also developing some of these guys look at the stars of the of the blue jackets future well Elvis in that tonight hopefully he can get his first NHL win I know Corby needs the rest and you know hopefully if there's a time to actually play him I guess that would be versus the red wings but boy you know I I guess on any given night right yeah I'm not sure that's a hundred percent walk you know one of the people have assume dealt with the net but all this was skating this morning he was one of only two guys to skate the this morning he had called her wits and generally what a goaltender states in the morning he doesn't play that night so I think maybe it could be over but I'm only we but convinced but I'm it could be fifty fifty at this point from the starts and that's a nine nine coal that's all we'll be watching tonight for you obviously on Fox Sports Ohio what puck drops at seven correct I
