Don't get duct taped to a seat. You're well came into that. All right. Ray and Marcia 5 21 now, Wdbo time for the five day brought to you by pro tech air conditioning and plumbing services. Good morning, Chief meteorologist Tom Terry Guy. We're normally not seeing wet roadways this time, But the morning Let's something unusual is going on and something is a bit unusual. We have a mid level. Low pressure area, not a tropical low, but something that's bringing us some showers started right around the 11 o'clock show last night crossed the coast has been sweeping inland, all during the late night hours and early this morning rain chance still scattered through late this morning and then by the early to mid afternoon. We should start to break things up a little bit as a consequence will stay in the mid to upper eighties for daytime highs today still scattered, mainly coastal showers. Starting out your Friday morning and then some scattered rain in the afternoon tomorrow. Still a 60% rain chance here for Friday, the weekend. Still 50 50 storm coverage favoring the coast in the morning. The inland areas in the afternoon Sunday a little bit dryers are going to be watching a storm in the Gulf of Mexico, like this weekend could become a hurricane over an air Louisiana and Texas. They extend the five day forecast four times an hour. I'm Tom Ti. Right, Tom Right now in Conway. I see a little bit of a shower down there where it is 73. Got a comfortable 74. "It's greeny, and it is a jam packed football weekend. We'll have plenty of reaction on Monday to all the quarterback battles that are being settled the critical injuries and much more see you. Then it's greeny starting 10 A.m., eastern on ESPN Radio and ESPN plus It is prime time on ESPN radio. This is Tom T. Hall's fired Metcalf. How I Got to Memphis. Matt Jones. He's mired Metcalf. Tom Ti all passed away last night. He is, in my opinion, one of the great songwriters ever in music went into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year with John Prine and Missy Elliott an interesting threesome to enter an assistant group. But they did. And this is how I got to Memphis, which is one of his more famous song has been covered by everybody. Tom T Hall from Kentucky. He was a friend with some of my family. I have grown up listening Tom T Hall my whole life and want to play some of his music today. Harper Valley P T. A is probably his most famous. Yeah, okay, but he has a lot of songs that he's written that you have heard that maybe you don't know or his I wanted to give a shout out our IP 85 years old Tom T Hall. I respect that Harper Valley P T. Everybody knows that song didn't do you like this song. How I got this great song. You know it, you know, don't know the song. I don't know. Bobbi Bear did a version of it, Johnny Cash the show the newsroom. Did you ever watch that show did watch the newsroom? Okay, the famous scene where the guy dies, And then they all play music afterwards. Remember that they're singing how I got to Memphis. That makes sense. I got that. Okay, so I mean, I just wanted to make sure that you, uh, that you saw it, we're going to play. He has some other songs that are a little weirder that Myron specifically doesn't understand, And we may play that one a little bit later. It's prime time. We're here for eight hours and 45 minutes getting little giddy. But folks have strong opinions about Andy Dalton. I'm going to get right back to the calls in a minute. So time. Minnesota especially hang on because Myron says you're one of his people, and he wants to make sure Here's what you say. But I want to talk for a second about the alliance. Big 10. The Pac 12 in the got together this week says We are going to be an alliance against the SEC. We're going to work on scheduling together. We're going to work on making votes together. We're going to work on making sure that the S E. C does not control college athletics specifically college football. I saw this news and had a pretty strong reaction. So because it's time for straight talk brought to you by straight talk Wireless Marin, What was your reaction? Are they all going to wear the same T shirts like is there is there a handshake like there used to be this cartoon called Captain Planet, And whenever they went out to save the planet, they would all put their hands in on like a circle and like power up And then they would go out and save the world like is this what it is? I just don't know what the goal is to me it it feels like a petty reaction to the SEC. Bringing in Oklahoma and Texas. And I think the most power they probably have is changing the college football playoff. The 12 team playoff, which those conversations happened long before Oklahoma and Texas. Were on their way to the S E. C. And I just don't think it makes sense. I don't know why you would want to upset the SEC, because no matter how much you align it does not stop him from calling Oregon, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, North Carolina and Florida State. If that's what they want to do here in the coming years, and even worse, maybe it encourages the mat. To do just that. First of all. Every alliance is only as strong as its weakest link. I know that from watching a lot of dastardly movies where there are groups that get together, the weakest link always takes you down. And I think you make a point. The S E C s 16. If the SEC wants to go to 20, they're going to be able to have whoever in your alliance they want And I hope that I hope everybody understands that, like you know what if they want Ohio State, they'll have Ohio State If they want Michigan, they'll get Michigan. The C teams have that little packed but lawyers, you know, I'm a lawyer. They're not necessarily fun people, but they find a way around things. So if they want North Carolina or if they want Florida state or they want Clemson, they'll find a way to get them. So it's an alliance in the sense of Yeah, you all go ahead and line up. We don't want any of you all right now, But here's the problem for If you think about the top eight programs in college football in the SEC, let's just say what they are. Alabama Auburn L S U Florida, Georgia. What Texas A and M Texas and Oklahoma. Let's say those are the eight now. If you were to take the other all the rest of college football and put their top eight, the top eight for the rest of college football is not as good as the top eight in the SEC. Am I right? You're right. I mean, it's not. It's just not. So take the top eight. What? Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon, and now what? Where am I going next? You know, I mean, I just thought there's nowhere to yo U. S. C. Rutgers. I mean, I don't know. So the point is that those the SEC controls all the cards. And so if you say, Well, I'm not going to play the SCC. You're only hurting yourself, Myron like everybody, You're only hurting your schools. Florida State plays Florida every year that games bigger for Florida State than it is for Florida. Georgia Tech plays Georgia. That game is bigger for Georgia Tech. Louisville plays Kentucky that games bigger for Louisville. So you're only South Carolina Clemson that games. Well, that one's a little more even but yeah, you're only hurting yourself in what they're trying to do. Which is why none of this really makes sense. And what really bothers me about just the idea of the alliance's You had Sandy Barber with with Penn State, the athletic director there today, saying This is not just about money. Well, then what the heck is it about, like, Stop lying to people. Okay? At the end of the day, this is about TV money in the sec right now is going to be able to give out more of that than anybody in the history of college football. And the big 12. I mean, sorry. The big 10, 2, Pac 12 and the H and C are lining. Because they want to put themselves in a position to also get a bunch of TV money going forward..

"Does this connect to in any fashion the U. S s obligations to sustain the Afghan government if they're switching chairs here at the last moment. Yeah, It certainly doesn't speak well for the Afghan government. This point that they're still shuffling the deck chairs on the deck of a sinking ship. It sounds like they're trying to figure out who within their ranks can lead forces and fight on here. And this is this is something that should have been figured out a while ago many months ago, but they're still trying to figure out I guess what their leadership is going to be his battle against the Taliban and Al Qaeda and other jihadists. And it just doesn't make any sense. Really that they're they're this far behind the curve. I think you know a lot of what's happened here is that the jihadists the Taliban, al Qaeda, they're not confused. They have a very simple message. They have a simple narrative. They know what they're all about. They're all about taking over the country. Afghanistan reinstalling its Islamic Empire of Afghanistan, The Afghan government and the American side have been completely confused for years now and have had competing narratives about what's going on, none of which are really beholden to reality or set in reality, And so now, the Afghan government is scrambling basically to deal with this idea that they're going to have a post American. The after the American withdrawal, that they're gonna have to figure out how to fight on their own and figure out how to try and keep the jihadis at bay. And it doesn't speak well that they're basically shuffling these key positions at this late stage. The Pakistan government. Is that a surprise that they will not in any fashion allowed the US to project power into Afghanistan. That is how we started this war 20 years ago. Yeah, it's not surprised at all. Member Imran Khan actually praised Osama bin Laden is a martyr after you know, in a speech not too long ago. So you know, Pakistan has always been a duplicitous ally at best in this fight against terrorists, and they are all too happy to get the U. S out of the region. And you know this also speaks to a bigger problem here with the U. S posture going forward, which is that? President Biden envision that he could withdraw all the American the entire American footprint from Afghanistan and still have this over the rising capability to attack pinprick targets at a distance who threaten the U. S or its allies of the US homeland. And at this point it looks like that horizon is getting further and further and further and further away because there's really the U. S. Does hasn't secured basing in the region. Pakistan is not going to allow them to have a base there at the moment. And so it looks like you have to go back to basically farther. You know, bases in the gulf, which have a much greater distance to hit targets in Afghanistan. Even then, basically, the model would be to try and take out select terrorists here or there, So this is At this point where you're looking at is an American posture that is not dissimilar to where it was in the 19 nineties in terms of being that far away from the battlefield in Afghanistan and the Afghan government. Tom TI. Your understanding is the Afghan government, in conversation with Washington hasn't been in conversation with Washington about what is going to happen The day after the U. S is has withdrawn. Do we know if there are Not negotiations between Kabul and the Taliban, but between Kabul and Washington. I mean, there are conversations but from the outward rhetoric coming out of Washington, so delusional that I can't imagine these conversations are very productive. I mean, remember the official position of the State Department, which has been taking the lead here and all this for quite some time is that Beneath and the Defense Department has endorsed this whole heartedly is that there needs to be a negotiated political settlement for the conflict in Afghanistan. There's and that they're the Afghan government needs to take part in this peace process is going to lead to negotiate settlements. This is entirely unhinged from reality. There's absolutely no basis in reality for this whatsoever. The Taliban is simply on the march trying to take over the entire country. And meanwhile, the U. S and its allies are telling the Afghan government that they should be beholden to a non existent peace process. When they should have been saying, you know, basically get your breast knuckles on for the fight ahead because you're going to be fighting on your own here very soon. "FM and am 5 80 Very glad that you are with us this morning, so a group of lawmakers Want to know if President Biden is playing with a full deck or not. Do you see this story? Texas Texas Congress woman, Dr Ronny Jackson. He's a former White House position for President Trump He's calling on President Biden. To undergo a cognitive test immediately so the president can prove that he has sound mental capabilities. Jackson says that Biden's performance overseas earlier this week was embarrassing. He said that Biden is not physically or cognitively fit to be our president. Right now. He's one of 13 Republican lawmakers who sent that letter to the president this week. Um, White House spokesperson obviously declining to comment here. But earlier this year in May, the White House did say That the president would be going for a medical check up this year and that the White House would be transparent about the results. Now, is there politics being played here? Sure, Absolutely. There are remember. Dr Jackson was President Trump's White House position and He was the unsuccessful nominee in 2018 to become the secretary of veterans affairs. Um and you recall back then that Jackson faced a ton of pressure. To give a cognitive test to President Trump because there were Democrats and those in the media who were demanding it at that point Now, Trump did, uh, eventually take that test and apparently, he scored a perfect 30 out of 30. For that cognitive test as part of his annual physical Look, anyone who has followed Joe Biden throughout his career. Back in the seventies and the eighties and so on. You realize that Look, this is not the guy who led the Clarence Thomas hearings, right? I mean, this is not the guy ran for president back in the eighties. Now, I will say this, though, even back when he was younger. Joe Biden was totally gaffe prone. Like whether whether we was talking about you know, Indian people owning 7 11 or whatever the case may be. Joe Biden has always been gaffe prone. We all know that. But when you have a CNN reporter Jeff Zeleny. Who is their chief national affairs correspondent, come out and say I've never seen the president so protected by his aides. That's something that, Delaney said earlier this week. When you have the president of the United States, seemingly I don't know if you saw this clip, but he basically blanked out in attempting to answer the question about His original comments about Vladimir Putin being a killer overseas. When you have the Russian president, taking questions from reporters for over an hour, and President Biden taking about 66 handpicked questions for about 20 minutes after the Putin summit. You do have to wonder? I don't care what side of the political aisle you're on. You do have to wonder. And if that's the case, look, the American people certainly deserve to know what's going on with our president here. I mean, I sincerely hope that the White House will be transparent with his next physical results because again, we deserve to know. If our president is of sound body and certainly sound mind, so we'll see what happens in that regard. 6 15 now Wdbo Scott Inez with your Nando's Morning news time for the five day forecast brought to you by protect air conditioning and plumbing services. "To you, Scott Inez in for Joe Kelly this morning, it's 8 42, now at Wdbo, Joe and Vladi. Motto. A motto. Let's go in depth. Why we love it. When you guys understand the stories we tell you about everyday live to Elizabeth Scholesy and so many topics on the docket today, Elizabeth for these two leaders, cyberattacks potential prison swaps. My goodness. Where do they start? Elizabeth? He had no doubt a lot of ground to cover and that's one of the reasons why this meeting is expected to last between four and five hours. Today we know that President Biden and President Putin are currently sitting in this historic villa in Geneva, Switzerland, along with Secretary of State Tony Blinken and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. So this first session is a smaller group hashing out some of these issues. I will say we already got the photo op with the two presidents. Standing side by side outside the villa shaking hands. And then there was a very chaotic kind of pool spray at a moment where the press could go and get a picture of that inside. A lot of you know what we're hearing shoving inside. There's so much interest in this meeting that it's really quite a lot just to get a glimpse of what's going on, much less obviously be inside the room, so This first session is is underway. The second session will include a larger group of senior aides. We know they won't be eating together throughout. This will really be just talking through that. And as you mentioned much ground to cover, these recent ransomware attacks really seems to be at the top of the agenda. Those are obviously been linked to Russia and really showed Americans. You know how much these cyberattacks can cripple US infrastructure in the pipeline, the meat supply. We also know that the White House is set pretty low expectations for what's going to come out of this thing, You know, Don't expect some major breakthrough, some major policy announcement. Really, it's a chance for the two leaders to see face to face. For Biden to send a clear message Now what exactly that message is going to be. We'll have to wait and see. Both will be giving press conferences afterwards. But notably, they will not be a side by side. They'll be doing separate press conferences. Once this summit ends. Elizabeth Cyber Attacks are coming fast and for years from inside Russia right now, and I know there are many American businesses out there who hope and pray That President Biden is going to be firm with President Putin about all these cyberattacks? Absolutely. I mean, we have really, You know, the Kremlin has denied the role that it's played in these attacks. Clearly U. S intelligence it was. It shows that they are linked to Russia. So there is a bit of holding Putin's feet to the fire on this that needs to happen, and the president has said that that's something that is clearly he's going to be bringing up he's going to be talking about now. One of the kind of reality check here. If you say you know, the president has said that this relationship needs to be stable and, you know, we know that Russia wants the respect of President Biden. Whether he's going to get that, you know they have a long standing relationship. Unlike many other kind of previous presidents, the the two have met before Whether the President Biden's going to institute some sort of, you know, additional punishment for these cyber attacks will wait to see, you know, notably, they have both kind of dialed down their rhetoric against each other going into this meeting, But we also know that the US has imposed sanctions for what's happened with those cyberattacks. So we'll have to see if there's any sort of announcement or breakthrough about the path forward in any way to prevent this. That's obviously as you mentioned one business leaders want to hear what Americans want to hear you. Yeah, absolutely. The Biden Putin summit got underway about An hour and a half ago. We will have much more throughout the day Here on Wdbo Elizabeth. Thank you so much. That's our very own. Elizabeth Scholesy reporting 8 46 now at W. D. B o time for the five day brought to you by protect air conditioning and plumbing services Chief meteorologist Tom Terry. Good morning, Scott. We continue to see a very soupy environment over central Florida. And no doubt after days of rainfall, we have gotten a lot of much needed rain, The last 2 to 3 days. Still a 50 to 60% coverage of some showers. Maybe a few heavy afternoon storms and again locally, 1 to 2 inches of rainfall later today. Brain coverage about 50% today a little bit quieter as we head toward tomorrow. Friday Saturday, I'm gonna draw the rain chance down to around 30%. As we continue to watch the southwest Gulf of Mexico, a weak area of low pressure they're likely to build and move north toward Louisiana, Mississippi very heavy rainfall out ahead of it. We should stay on the drier side overall, until we get to the very end of the weekend and early next week, our rain chance will likely go back up again. We'll keep you posted. They extended five day forecast four times an hour. I'm Tom Ti. Right, Tom. Right now. I'm looking at 75 degrees in Kasumi 77, now in Orlando, Severe weather station. Safe touch Security.
