"First already enjoying the programs we can train distributed Tom Terrific, and that 1969 season and also I just heard the passing of the speedster who changed the force of the state moves. Cardinals. Lou Brock. Umm, you know, I think of the original team. They had some manager. What did he do? We won 11 out of 13. Championship of the World Series for the Yankees. Casey Stengel played this game. Well, yeah, by the time he got the Mets Teo off there all those years of managing all those great teams that expansion 62 Med team was not an easy group to try and run. Well, you know, it's not easy today is washing for 100 pitches. No, I've had easier for or root canals than washing those bluejays play that Boston team and some hold. Ajay is one. I don't know their double. I think they're triple because they play in Tripoli, Buffalo, and, well, they're headed the Yankees. So I guess they're not too bad. But now You know what can I say? And, you know, I heard all these Boston Celtic fans and the media don't goals. The Raptor's down goals. Frasier Down goes to the Raptors or no note, there's five council of second left. And there's Kyle Glory. The topless. The meanest guard ever come out of Villanova going on is I got a question for you is Kyle Lowry, a former Villanova product. He would know. The world champions in 2011, he reflected on winning the 1969 World Series and what really drove him It isn't the celebration. It isn't the joy it isn't the champagne. It's what's on the field. That's where the art form. Seaver debuted with the struggling Mets in 1967, and his impact was immediate. He won 16 games in his first season was voted the National League Rookie of the year. In 1969. Seaver racked up 25 wins more than any major league pitcher that season. That's when Tom Terrific, won his first National League Cy Young Award. That year, the Mets defeated the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles to win their first ever World Series. Gonna run us right out of the field, and we come to a place in 1977 Seaver was traded to the Cincinnati Reds. He wasn't done making history in 1978. He achieved what had until then alluded him. Pitching a no hitter. He bounces to first base has pitched his first major league in 1985. Seaver notched another place in history when he won his 3/100 career game game is over. From the dementia and covert 19 was a part of why he lost his life too soon, so Jeff Idelson, who knows him so well working with him in a couple of teams, locations and also at the Hall of Fame will be ableto. Regale us with some personal stories of the great Tom Terrific. The franchise for younger demographic maybe didn't see Tom Seaver pitch or Noah's much Aboutem MLB network has and it's It's on Twitter right now, you can find it. It's about eight minutes. Nine minutes. Just a recap of his career like you said with the trade of the Reds, and he actually ended up with the White Sox and went back to the Mets actually finished his career in 1986, with the Red Sox, But it's it's a It's an amazing journey they talk about and just how he spent one year in the minor leagues with the Jacksonville sons, and then he went up to the major leagues. And the Mets. For those who don't know the history. They had been terrible mean They're an expansion team in 1961, and they had never been a 500 team. And here comes this guy and deceiver was Knowledgeable and mature beyond his years. He came in there and they were celebrating getting 2 500. There's an interview in this re cap that's really, really cool where he's like. I'm not a 500 guy. You know, all silver. We start winning. Of course, they became the 69 Miracle Mets and they caught the Cubs and He was just right. I mean, in 1967. When they showed me this guy's a rookie leading the way for these guys, and he's he's mature like he's been in the league 10 years and it was just a really cool. It's a really cool recap of him his career. You should really check it out if you're not as familiar with with Tom Seaver, But I mean, three times I young over 3000 strikeouts 311 wins 12 time All Star 16 opening day starts. I mean, this guy was was absolutely unbelievable. So if you If you don't know of them MLB networks for either running it on TV, or you can find it on social media. But it's about it's worth eight minutes of your time. I mean, it's a It's a really, really cool. Oh, did Tom Seaver. It's really cool. And I mean, the bottom line is one of the greatest. I think you know, Palmer was really good and catfish was really good. But I think Seaver was the best pitcher of his time. And one of the greatest pitchers in the history of baseball, one of the greatest big game pitchers When he took the mound, there was just A different feeling. About him, You know, different than even the rocket. The rocket was just going to beat the crap body and her come at you like the Rockettes. Cheever had that. But there was a cerebral nous to him. Kind of a Maddox meets rocket. Mentality. And I mean, when he was voted into the Hall of Fame, and Jeff, it was the president of Hall for years and years. Hey, was voted in 1992. Even he's a first ballot Hall of Famer. So in my mind He's a Hall of Famer Saul of Famer. If you're having a game among Hall of Famers Tom Seaver's pitching in that Siri's I'm not sure if he's pitching came on or two or three or four. Why Tom Seaver Is The Greatest Met Ever

"People perhaps too young to have seen it and to have lived through it. How would you put into words what Tom Seaver meant to baseball and particularly in New York in the late sixties and the seventies? Well. He's the greatest met ever and there is not a close second. He's for me one of the ten greatest pitchers of all time when you look at his wins, his era and his strikeouts, the only pitcher in history that can match those numbers is Walter Johnson whose regularly considered the greatest. Of all time top seaver struck out ten batters in a row that is still a major league record and they were the last ten hitters of the game showing how strong he was at the end Greenie I was twelve years old when he pitched the mets to the world championship in nineteen, sixty nine it was absolutely breathtaking to watch a pitcher who threw that hard with that kind of precision and the way he threw that back news to drag against the ground. He was so big and he was so strong. He was Tom Terrific in every way he was he was like a superhero in my youth. I grew up in New York and I wasn't met Fan, but you couldn't not not only admire him but you're almost all of him. He became almost mythical figure you can. We talk about that a little bit not not just how great pitcher he was the numbers tell you that story but just what he meant in an even larger sense than that, how would you put that into words? Well he was so much a celebrity in New York because he was so smart he was. So worldly, he did the New York Times Crossword puzzle every day and apparently nobody did it better than he did and he never took himself too seriously Dick Schaap told this great story one night that Dick arranged a party out with a bunch of people, a bunch of writers and a bunch of celebrities. And among the celebrities were Muhammad, Ali and Tom Seaver and through the night went along alley. Brilliant Mad. But not a great baseball fan whispered to Tom seaver which newspaper do you work for Anti seaver like burst out in laughter that's how great he was at understanding his place and everything he said that what he retired, he wanted to become an artist, but he wasn't good enough to be an artist. But boy was he a great great baseball player who captured a town at the perfect

New York Mets Legend Tom Seaver Dies At Age 75

"One of the greatest players in the history of baseball alleged in every sense of the word in New York sports, and beyond Tom Seaver was known as Tom Terrific he died yesterday of complications of Covid nineteen and dementia at the age of seventy five, and where do we begin seaver transformed the match from cellar dwellers to world champions three hundred eleven games eighteenth all time most important win game for the sixty nine world series. The mets winning the championship legend thirty, six, hundred, forty strikeouts in his career six. The most ever still has the record with ten straight strikeouts in a game and of course, as much. Deserving seaver went into the hall of fame in Nineteen Ninety two, he got a then record ninety eight point eight four percentage of the vote more on Tom Seaver who was the nineteen sixty seven national league rookie of the year two seasons later on the first of his three Cy young awards also a three time nationally champion during his major league tenure and made the All star. "Hall of Fame Mets pitcher known as Tom, Terrific has died. Tom Seaver was 75. Seaver was the 1967 National Eagle Rookie of the year, He won a career high 25 games to lead the Mets to their first World Series title. I'll be nice is Jim O'Grady joins us now to talk about just how much Seaver meant to the Mets and to the rest of us here in New York. Hi, Jim. I saw him. OK, So for those who did follow the Mets in the 19 sixties and the seventies and for those who didn't millennial alert here, why is his passing such a big deal for New York? Son because sometimes a rare athletes can lift up in entire town when it's down on DH. That's what he did. And then I think that might resonate with us now. Yeah. Is that what he did? Yes. So the best way to understand his impact to go back and get a little history about what came before him. New York City from the mid 19 forties to the mid 19 fifties. We had a golden age of baseball that's never been seen before. Since we had three teams, the Giants in Harlem, the Dodgers in Brooklyn and the Yankees in the Bronx. All of them are winners. All of them are battling each other every season to win the pennant of the World Series, and they have stars like Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Mickey Mantle. Event, a disaster strikes in 1957, the Giants and the Dodgers moved to California. The Yankees were good for a little while after that, but there Players start aging and after 1962 they they just sink and they're going to stink for a decade. And then the Mets come in 1963. And they're laughing Stock. Even you know you as a malarial might know this about their image. In the beginning there lovable losers you recall this day set records for futility. One of their best players is Catch her marvelous Marv Throneberry, the marvelous he's used. Ironically, That's how you know your team is really bad right when their nicknames are our sarcastic, right, So, Yeah, so it's fair to say that the New York baseball went from the heights to the deaths, right? That's right. And then in 1967 when New York City itself we have striking workers, shrinking budgets, rising crime, civil unrest, and then this guy from sunny Southern California arrives in Flushing, Queens. To pitch for the Met. His name is Tom Seaver, and he looks around and says To hell with this. This is not going to go on. Don't want lovable losing. I'm here to win Ball games. And you knew right away that he could back it up. He was just a dominating talent and a force of will on the mound. So we understand that a young Jim O'Grady watched him as a little kid. What was he like? Little team O'Grady and in his shorts, I think on a summer day, I really think that the first time I saw color TV, it was Tom Fever on the mound and He was this big guy 6 ft. One. He had like tree trunk legs, and when he would on curl to throw a pitch, it was just so forceful. And he was throwing his body forward so much that his right knee would scrape the ground and I saw him. Just unleashed a rising fastball and made a hitter just look foolish. And it was that power that was so attractive. And so almost physically charismatic and Ah, he was just the star that the Mets were starving for. Yeah. And of course, we can talk about Seaver without talking about the fact that he carried the Mets to the World Series in 1969, right? He did one other thing. I'm remembering that as a boy, I read his autobiography and one details sticks in my mind. You said he had a big red juicy steak with the night before games. So he was kind of larger than life and in 1969, he takes this team on his back. He wins 25 games. It's still One of the most improbable things in American sports history that has ever happened this this franchise of complete futility. With the World Series. Against just a juggernaut of a Baltimore Orioles team. And it's just it becomes a national news story. It becomes a sensation. Um And you know, poor me. I became hooked on the Mets ever since then. So in the last about 45 seconds we have here, Jim, can you talk a little about his life off the field? He was again, you said larger than life larger than just baseball. Yeah, he his wife, Nancy became celebrities are on the covers of magazines. He was really a golden boy. He made it into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. You got something like 90% of the vote, which is a record at the time later broken by Derek Jeter of the Yankees. He became a broadcaster of baseball games. He works for the Yankees and the Mets. Andi moved back to California and lived on a vineyard. Um and ah, he had a great full life, especially as an athlete and he was really meaningful to.

"Yeah so long, it's been nice. It's been it's been a lot less work having to cover all these events. I'll say that so I'll coronavirus big. Yeah. Yeah my big thumbs up though that I'll give two is just a fact of life, you know working from home. You can kind of keep your eye on the little day-trading. I'm in with Davey day trader r u t g Global give our give our listeners some stock pictures. Like a couple stops in gaining and it's been crazy crazy crazy. I'm all over that pain gaming and Peloton have been my two that I jumped into early age and they've been super strong like you gotta get into those like betting stocks like right before the NFL comes back. Yeah, and I mean the NFL start em all get off to a start and those stocks are go way up and then it'll stop and the crash and that's where like we I've been jumping with my my brother-in-law and my cousin we talked a bunch do option trading now where it's like you're betting against price of the stock price nice. I have some like shares of things but like that's something you kind of just do. For weekly action and like that's what you do. Like. I have shares of like some of the gaming stocks and like when the season comes up it's like all right. Well, it's going to assume it's going to hit up. So it's if it's at fifty now, let's bet it's going to go 5:55 and when it gets there just sell this, you know sell this bet against the price right and it's their way, you know, it's it's way better earnings potential to just versus versus having the shares but I mean the shares are good just to have for long-term play. I mean, I've got some play and some of the airline's when they come back on because they were just so cheap back in March, you know, and on home kind of moved up but then they're back kind of down to the levels where I would have gotten in at so I don't plan to move those but um the techs I mean text stuff is out of control Tesla's wild apples. Wild Amazon's wild thoughts all on auto all the time. If you started doing it in March like you couldn't pick a wrong thing really get in and then just follow it and read as much you can and yep. One but the best buying opportunities is when everything's crashing as as one book that is known to say when everything is in when everyone's fearful. That's when I strike off of it in stock advice on top today. I know look at me. This is a new this is segment. I think we're going to do with the street over. Yeah. Hey, I trust me. I like don't have the sophistication of things. Like I've got my blue loose, you know, who see he's financial adviser. So he's looking at balance sheets and he's checking out financials. And like I said, I don't go that route. I'm just like looking at Trends and like knowing like okay United back in February was about $100 a share and it like dropped down to below 30 like yes, it's not something that I need the money tomorrow, but like if you have money like right now it's like five bucks a share or like get a hundred shares and at some point in the next two years. It's going to go back up it just dead. People will fly again, you will fly again. So it doesn't have to be over thought I think at this point now like as things normalize and levels return to know what they were pretty covid-19. You maybe need to be a little bit more sophisticated, but I just think the trends are kind of they're going to flip now. There are some things that are well above pre covid-19 Apple like Netflix like all that stuff. So I don't I don't maybe you want to avoid those type of areas those sectors that have already seen their crazy jumps but Those are those are pricey stocks to oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. All right, Steve. Thank you so much for coming home for the weekend right plan for the weekend. My parents are coming down tomorrow. See the baby sick. So we'll do that. Oh, you know, it's coming here from from speaking a quarantine California professional football league is coming out here for two weeks. "But you can just tell he's like like faith and had those games like you can't be hot and cold like that no, no steady Eddie and I think that could be an issue. I love that but he's getting to the basket now like relatively easy and he's getting to the free-throw line Dayton's going to be nice. We took Markel want to have this conversation cuz of markelle fultz but it would be nice. Yeah, and I would say wuss pictures and Ben's injury like Everyone always kind of says okay Ben Simmons in jail and be play together. Well now it's Joelle time to kind of show what he can do. I know when Joel was out last year going in the playoffs the Sixers rattled off like 18 in a row with Ben Simmons Justice, you know having to be having every game be attract me. I I personally enjoyed that lifestyle of play out of us and I think we have plenty of people to come off the bench and Shooters and Young Guns to just support that style of game. I don't know though. Now, I know Ben how that will look for us. So I mean assuming he's out for the remainder of the year. I could I could see an early exit. He maybe we get to the second round. But you know, if we've got go up against the Toronto or a box in the second round. I don't know so we both like the Bucks to come out of the East what about we still like the Clippers out west? Lot of Laker hype right now. I think we need to go. I don't think would like I would say Clippers over Lakers. I think you know if that's where if that is what it would come down to earth. But like part of me just wanders does IT team like Houston like does this favor them just weird structure. Yeah. They've been look at they've playing well now I know that they but the Portland beetham, but we're by the way to go. Where is nurkic like really good? Like what is going on? Like no kids has been dominating like great addition to that team. Now, he's helped. Yeah now that he's healthy. I mean, he was really good for them before he got sick cuz when you got hurt last playoffs or end of last season, right? Yeah, like end of last regular-season I think but some big time, I mean like this team hasn't really changed from a few years ago. They were weren't they the number I guess maybe they weren't the one seed, but they were like a two seed in the West Western Conference finals last year, and so I mean don't I'm not I think the four teams that will be Rockets Blazers Clippers Lakers in that semi-final bracket for the West, you know to go through second round into the what Western Conference. Final is would be my that's how I would lean. think I feel like the team really getting screwed with the whole bubble is Denver with their home court advantage like that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you're not going to Mile High, it's Michael Michael Porter Jr. By the way can play see him. He's like averaging like twenty five points a game. He's been killing it out there. Yeah. There's there been some surprise performers. I mean, maybe these a guy took this time to really get fit and dialing another game where the others maybe didn't but yeah, I'm about to Bubble dude. I'm all for this. We needed this in our life, you know, they're the month of like June and July was definitely a That was a tough one to to work through struggles struggle. What do you thinking about baseball? I haven't really watched too much baseball to be honest. How is football going to work you like the blueprint is how the NBA's doing it? Yep. I mean, I know that there's been discussion like any wage. They're kind of in the Quasi bubble right up in up in Canada. Yep, which does is the NFL going to go that route? Can the NFL do a bubble like scenario? I don't know because fans want to go games. Like I know that there was a big outcry in Philly because the mayor announced that there was no Gatherings of more than 50 PPL allowed in this is maybe in the last month, right and then people are like bitching and moaning because then they they would be able to go to go to and tailgate Eagles games and it's kind of like I love it. "His bed bath. Yeah. Well, how's it how are things this week? We start a little bit of daylight with him falling asleep in his own bed at night a little bit and staying in there for longer wage in like twenty minutes. Yeah. He he's gotten like a couple hours in there a couple of nights during the week this week. So that's been huge progress National are still kind of hit-or-miss wage. Like you could just go to sleep and you'd be okay for like 45 minutes maybe still not long naps, but other times it's like you're you'll spend an hour. Just trying to get him to fall asleep in the first place. Just like what the hell of a dog. I know that life bro, but now you guys going to do sleep training like you can do the cried out stuff or anything like that and it wasn't about it. So kind of in part of our issue. I mean like when we've off, On when it was just like a disaster. We were definitely talking a big game like oh, yeah. Well, let him cry it out to say anything stop this problem. But like when we hear him crying for like 30 seconds, it's like brutal. It's like I don't know that you just have to like leave you have to leave that's happening. Yep. I hear it. I mean the only thing for me that it would allow for crying it out to happen is at night like 5 at night. I could sleep through a hurricane. Yeah, you're good. It's sleeper known to man. So like that's why I cried out wouldn't necessarily work for us cuz she like here's and she's always like I'm like God what I'm still sleeping. I don't even know that you're talking to me. Yeah, Tori used to be kind of like you in the same boat sleep do anything, but she's got the maternal Instinct. Now, I think we're kind of amount. There's fully awakened is the amount they're all right. Let's talk about sports here on terrific talk supposed to do. I guess we'll start with the NBA bubble bath. Our thoughts so far. How do you like it? I love it sports are back. They obviously have set the precedent for how you're supposed to handle testing doing a pandemic, right? You'll know next still all negative tests. I know that's going to get the TV and then this wouldn't fall into TV, but you know, Mighty stable being a boss is just doing his logs as amazing. Yeah, it is so like crazy to watch that and see like what their life is like in there because it's like so regimented so controlled everything. Yeah everything but you know, I think the games are fun. They clearly Like There's No Lack of competitiveness, you know, these guys they turn the switch right back on and they came to play. Unfortunately, TJ Warren came to play a little bit too much against my Sixers last week, Alabama. Everybody was he lead the bubble in scoring right now is ridiculous. But I'm all about it. I think it's great. What what do you thinking? I'm over to I at first when they were doing kind of like the almost like pre-season to the seating games. It really looked like summer league to me like just was shot the way kind of guys were going at it was like, I don't know about this like and like there were like weird results kind of happening guys, like playing weird minutes, but I think we've gotten a little bit of Groove now and I'm all about it. I think the games that have definitely been competitive, you know, I was a little worried lot of guys were going to come back in the best of shape but it seems like everyone's dead in pretty decent shape. You know, it doesn't look like there's a big drop-off there and it's been fun. And hey the Brooklyn Nets Shock the World reading the Milwaukee Bucks, so I didn't think the Mets were going to win like a single game in this bubble bath. They won that game without cares to like literally no one on you wouldn't couldn't name a player on the Nets who played Detective bucks Spencer Dinwiddie your boy. He didn't show up either. He's got coronavirus. He's not there. I'm telling you right now. That's signing directors killer Spencer Dinwiddie killer. Well, I mean at the end of day there is still Championship on the line, you know, and obviously with the time off and that goes back into it. I think and the real stuff happens is when it's game on for real. These guys are too competitive to not You know empty the tank and put everything into the games. So when we did our little NBA over unders preseason thing that we do every every year on this podcast will of course our boy will beats wage. Well, let's talk about our finals predictions cuz now they're all kind of screwed up. Who did you have? I don't remember it for six years, but I think have the same thing. Yeah, I think we had the same thing and I think probably just said Sixers is a homer and you said Clippers. I'm not intimately thought the Sixers were the most talented team coming into this season, and I thought they figured out did the first four minutes of that game against the Pacers. I was like, we're going to dominate we're going to like they were doing this Ben Simmons Joell embiid up on the elbows dumped into Ben and like Joelle was like fake for a screen and off like they did a couple of times like Joelle did it been like I was like, these guys are unstoppable. We're going to win this title and then, you know after four minutes like I've said this to a couple of people I don't know off. Why I've noticed this with the Sixers team, maybe it's their use but there's times where like build dominating teams for like six to eight minutes and then like it's almost like they think all right. We're way better than we can chill and they just take the foot off gas and then they just get dominated. I think that's a great observation. I think that's a thousand percent true with them which is I think is a big reason why that could play into why they were their records so good at home and so bad on the road. They would try that on the road and it would come back to bite them in the end cuz they couldn't come back. And yeah and the opposing team's home home crowd would get involved and kind of Victory. So I worry about that in the bubbles coming out of these now. Man, that's harded. I think he's still got to go with Milwaukee. But that's a tough one. Dude. I'd like wage. I mean, I know said pictures initially, I think like I'd have to flip it Milwaukee at this point and people walk the most town at the better. I can believe a good Toronto like looks right now, I don't get Toronto dude. I mean like we love Pascal for sure. Sure. Like hey lost Kauai, how are they doing what they're doing, right? It doesn't make any sense. It really doesn't make any sense player in the world that. Yeah. Yeah a lot of good veterans, but Yeah, I don't know like they just like they're passing and just the chemistry. It's incredible right now defending champs. It's one of those where him leaving could have brought them closer together because I mean not like I've noticed this with teams, you know certain certain instances. They lose the star or the veteran leader and everyone's like, oh now that's gone. They're done and you know, then you have that ship like, oh, they think that we're done and we got a you know, we've got a band together and do this together. So I think that that's probably taking place them a little bit but you know again at the end of day, I think when you've got Yiannis just kind of have to rely on the fact that best player is going to take, you know, I think the guy who really could go toe-to-toe with Ian has the best chance out of the East I thought it was indeed but now with Simmons out. I mean that messes things up now for the Sixers that's that's a tall order. I think Milwaukee will should come out. East yeah, who I haven't been impressed with so far on this bubble the Celtics, you know, and it sells I haven't been impressed with them at all. Like Tatum is amazing, but he had like off in a game on T. Like when one like tuned for Twitter back in but then he won like four Thirty points.

"Tom Brady's excuse for Tom terrific? No, no, no. Just meets made it up. No. He said he really liked the nickname trade, my trade balking. Nobody uses correct? He saying the trademark. That's no one else money off of a nickname doesn't like about himself. And then he said lesson learned which means. No, I do. Right. And didn't know that, that would cause uproar. So either way. Even if you think is full of you know what? Right. He still backing off the idea of using Tom terrific. He's not going to use it. Every made that comment start selling t shirt right now. Right after he said, yeah, I don't really like it just doing it so that no one else can use it. But I didn't think that was going to appease. Have a great. I didn't bother me that much to begin with a lot of fans were in an uproar just thought. That's the way it is boomer had tremendous point yesterday because he was explaining to Boston. Why people are ticked off. And he said the comparison uses imagine the jets drafted a young quarterback. And his first name was Larry and had a great career won the Super Bowls, and all of a sudden that guy. Copyrighted Larry legend. What would you say? Yeah. Great. Combat's. Of course anybody in Boston. It's larry. Right. So I think it was a great way of explaining to the people in Boston actually had term Seaver was a red side on eighty sixteen. He's got one of those rings for winning the American League pennant, if they give rings out. They actually do to. So that was a great way to explain to Boston. Why that bothered? Some fence you. See rings, latest patriot shipping. I have not showing. Okay. I'm just saying. Did you did you look at course? Well, it's. Thing that somebody about quarterback play who would be like, you know, Mr. comedian on open mic night. Only the feds June. I understood big problem to me in October or November stupid. Point. Schrage is not there. Schrager Schrager right now. Is that floor? Buddy, CJ Chris CJ, and that if it was going to be new GM big determining right now. Jason is in bergenfield, our you. Hey guys how you doing Jason? What's up? Back on Mickey Callaway for a second thing that drove me nuts the most with after he wasted all these guys and that yesterday, your bench players that you're left with our Robbie canot and Wilson, Rama knowing and knowing your bullpen if you're going to extra innings what the hell are you doing? What do you do? You're right. I get it when you're down ROY. You've gotta manage to tie the game. You can't think about extra innings I get that. But this is what happens when you have a very limited bench. And you've got limited players. You're right Robby can probably not available in even if he is available. What can he do? And Rommel's is really only available to, to pinch replace Diaz Nino. And that's got to be smarter when you send Carlos Gomez. I just don't see a purpose inserting Gomez up to Bunn when you can just have the pitcher. And even if he can't get down with two strikes, keep the bumped on or you trust to try to get a hit considering the guys actually a decent Brian in the car, Brian. Hey guys real quick avenue. I'm a long suffering, then with you. So I love what they're doing. Very excited for the off season. Read 'em fan. My dad did the Clark for many, many years, long-suffering, watching from the front, row, J Tim join, you know what they did. The NBA change the rules and the Nick I gotta do those games for the net. Real quick on the Mets. I think the one manager they need for this young team Showalter, you gotta go out and get the perfect set. Thanks. Books are books. I have Giradi. But if I wound up being a manager to mess, I wouldn't be upset with it say that bucks fine manager here he is a very good job. A very good job wouldn't say great job. He a won anything, and it seems like teams got better after he loves me. Very good. Job of developing teams has done that no problem with that right now at the point, where if you give me any competent manager, I'd say, it's an upgrade in Staten Island, Chris, our you. Hey guys has going what's actually been tweeting days has taken? But I actually want to commend him on. I want to make him on that swap with resign. Mcneil feel like has been swinging offensively. I don't know maybe agree. Maybe don't. But I think McNeil was the right person to get the hit which is on. I think we should have stayed indefinitely dropped down Gomez. He can't, but he should. A lot understand workday. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to take you out of the game just doesn't make sense. I, I get that Jeff McNeil is significantly better than I'm a better hitter. That porn. I'll give you. I completely agree that with second and third and less than two outs. Jif macneil has put in perspective for you. I'm sorry was struck out sixty times this year. Jeff ignore struck out, twenty two. Bullheaded McNeil base it as Mickey Callaway. Thirty three. Macneil seventeen right? That's an indicator. It isn't. So I agree with the simplistic point of who'd rather have run jumping deal. But I'm looking at all the ramifications of that decision. Sorrow is now out of the game. I could always make us McNeill next to pinch hit for Dom Smith. It sounds crazy. But if they're going left he left and you have more confidence with McNeil against lefty than you do with it isn't crazy. So the other option is this one's a little school, this option instead of bunting with first and second. Nobody out. You simply said, here's Jeff McNeill head. Right. Of giving away any out. I know that I'm not a huge fan of bumping, but with first and second, nobody out down a run at home. It does make sense. I'll be the first one tell you, if you wanna use that chip giving out away. Go ahead go hit one to right center field. I don't think that's crazy either the idea Pinchitting from still is not it's not the sound this decision. I look, I don't disagree. Joe in Brooklyn, Joe. How are you? Guys everything. Thank you. Thank you, Joe pre shit. World series. Back on it. Now. Anticlimactic. The Mets drops. And then the whole. But. Seattle, you know. Only you. You're right. I think they're never going to get rid of it for for things that don't affect us. We have two teams in this town, one in the American League win in the National League very spoiled, but he's right. That in Seattle, they want to see the Mariners the cubs every once in a while they want that. So I do the interleague play won't happen. I don't know how you feel about this with two thousand. It wasn't anti-climactic. I would not use that word to describe the World Series because it's the World Series between the Mets and the Yankees, we're that wouldn't have happened without interleague play fending into league clam just merely making a statement, the Mets and Yankees started that World Series with a real rivalry because of Roger Clemens might be okay. It doesn't mean I love it. It just means that, that World Series did have a different feel than it would have had, if they never played interleague play would have been to the mentioning Enke's plane each other. Oh my God. This is weird. This is crazy. I can't believe that plane each other for me would have been. I can't even picture the Mets played at Yankee Stadium, all of that. You're right. But they had such a heated thing, based on what happened with Piazza in Clemens that, it did add another element to that World Series that wouldn't exist. I didn't think of it that way at all. Playing Yankees probably gonna lose and I'm not going to be happy Clemens though. I did think of it, but I didn't add anything to be didn't change my thought process on it. Say either way there in the World Series. So from that standpoint that doesn't matter. But it added another element to it doesn't mean it made it better or worse. It's just that there that wouldn't have been there. I remember when Joe Taurean rotation all I could think about was is Clemens pitched stadium. I want to see Roger Clemens up to that batter's box in the World Series and obviously they picked him in game which meant no Joel news. Of course, he did that wasn't a coincidence, plus the defense he wanted to maximize how often Roger Clemens pitch. What's true? You do three and seven but when you wanted to pitch in one of the first two games because I think they'll ask Amy pushing the LCS was game five was was I think the series was tied to to anyone game. That was that Dominic game where he struck out is. Yep. On rodney? I think scared the crap out of him. I have convinced. He a rod head when he came on that was at the height of Roger Clemens is, how do I phrase it hours, pow? Magic power. Yeah. I think that's a good way to height was in his red sock days. But still, no, it wasn't juiston. Oh, sorry. That's why you understand what you're doing. Not as far as a pitcher. You're talking about as far as how is extra powers? Some little extra help little helpless. Yes. Shelter is MC one set. Let me correct myself rod. Ragged. Good game. He pitched on thinking of wasn't a game five it was game four four only five game series. Six six in two thousand one at one five. That's right. Okay. Okay. Because remember? That's right. One was the one hundred whatever when team right into right? Sixteen hundred sixteen. Yes. When they won game six at Yankee Stadium. I think of David Justice sound on radio broadcast of Cain. Sterling saying tickets. At a subway, tokens, ready says no tokens anymore. MTA. It's expensive. So get your mortgage read the pay. But that game Clemens pitched was gained for the up to listen to this pitching line for Roger Clements. I'll start off with one hundred thirty eight pitches. Let's start there thirty eight pitches. Eight pitches nine innings one hit zero runs fifteen strikeouts to walks good day. One of the most dominant performances I've ever seen. And he, he got a Rod's headman. I'll tell you that struck him out a few times early in the game went in towards the noggin Piazza style, except he didn't hit him, right? But that was just an incredibly dominant performance. So I'm sure in defence he was thinking, wink, can I get Roger quicker in this series cycle pitch them twice because at that point, he was their best pitcher? He really coming on. Stephen has. Hey Steve our you guys how you doing? What's key again? Listen to making Joe Torry some of his billions was because don's Emma. What Gelman they're doing for Callaway shouldn't be helping them out. Some of the. Joe Tori was how was the buffer between his players and George and how to deal with the media that is. And I just think he led his players play. That's how I view Joe Torry as a manager. Some sort of input on what? Is is trying to get Calloway fired? Hundred. Thank you. Don't play tomorrow. Come on. You only got three inches right now. Scares me about. Gangqi fan Cashman, obviously, does a great job, but he's a little gun shy with these free agent. You know pitchers. Pitchers in Orlando or really for million dollars. You don't bring your first of all seventeen of not coming back. Anybody says you can. Comeback. Think of it that way, but I can't save have to think about it. You, you have to wait till. I get it. I understand. I said this earlier about the Kyko thing, a Yankee fan saying come on a couple of extra million dollars. Why not spend it? You're the Yankees. I totally get that attitude. I respect it. I just don't think Dallas is worth crying over. And I think there are two reasons why he's been overrated at times by Yankee fans number one, because he was standing right there. He's available and you could sign them right now. Beat you. Dominate at one point. That's the other reason because of success against the Yankees. Chuck Finley, Chuck Finley dominating Finley. How could we forget, Chuck Finley can't forget him choke finley's the dominating likes like Rilya ridiculously attractive actors? Yeah. I think he was. Contain is that the one he was married to Finley? Chuck American contain. He was Google Chuck Finley, the first thing that comes up as Tony. But you know what happened? Right. Didn't she like she like they had a fight a fistfight arrested for spouse charges twenty contain if you remember the old whitesnake video, what's, what's the name of the song? I can't think of it nowadays commercials to what I don't know why can't they get an even now she was in that whitesnake video. But like on top of the car will leave it at that. Right. Here we go again right here, right here. I go again. Right. Yeah. Charged with spousal abuse and battery after. Husband, Chuck Finley as the two were driving home from dinner. Yes. "Up in just about ten minutes. Liz Feldman, the creator of the series dead to me just got renewed yesterday by Netflixing sure enough. He's coming on today. So can't wait to talk to get a lot of questions for love that series. If you haven't seen it yet stars, Christina, Applegate, Linda Cartolini and fantastic series only one to one season so far really good. And got a lot of questions for her. And a meantime. Waffles. There's a waffles a big sports guy for those of you don't know. And there's something that's got his knickers in a not. So I'm gonna give you a couple of minutes here to get this off your chest. Waffles, you go. Right ahead vs. You see the thing going on the Tom Brady is now enraged, all of New York Mets nation. I have. Yes. So Tom Brady is seeking to trademark the nickname. Tom terrific. Now, for those you out there that are listening that are all while my age or, you know, within ten years of my age. Probably don't know that Tom terrific was actually the nickname for hall of fame pitcher, Tom Seaver for the couple of decades that he pitched in the major leagues including here in Boston fervor, what seven games not only seven games, but it was part of his deal that he didn't have to be with the team if he wasn't pitching. I never heard of that before, but Seaver was just. And then the other four days. Yeah, you're not you're golf there. But whatever. I assume that this isn't really Brady doing this. I assume this is some people, I'm sure, and I'm not sure that he knows about it. But even if he does, or doesn't is irrelevant they shouldn't, get the name, I think he should. That's not there's two reasons why he shouldn't. I think it's a very high standard in order to get a name trademark part of it should be that you are. Recognizably identifiable with that name. For example, Lou Gehrig, the Ironhorse. Sure. Because when I hear Ironhorse I think Lou Gehrig, salt, miss, what? Yup. Babe Ruth, splendid splinter Ted Williams, like there's certain the great one wouldn't go down the list, whatever. But there's certain names that are so obviously used. So when you hear Tom terrific, you immediately think of Tom Seaver. Yes. See. I see. Okay. But that's number one, but you don't think Brady this is the problem copyright is for protection. So that. Someone can't profit off of you anyone trademark. Yeah. Okay. But anyone selling his shirt that says, Tom terrific, no one's going to buy that. Thinking Brady will once he gets it will they can't do it then. But, but so unless Brady's now nicknaming himself. Tom terrific. It's not his name. No one goes, he's go. You wanna do. Tommy Goater Brady go to find, but he, he would be better doing that. Gio, ET than doing Tom Sawyer. He's not Tom terrific. Nobody calls them that nobody but anyways v because Mets fans are just a miserable bunch of. Anyway, they're planning to gather at an upper east side restaurant called sojourn today at five pm for a Boston tea party. See what they did there, where they will where they will dump jerseys and memorabilia of Brady into garbage bags filled with beans. I stupid with Sola. Then what are they gonna fish them out? And then wash them and take them back home with them or like, why would anyone in New York have her? So she vers former teammate arch sham ski will be in attendance at the rally to discuss the legacy of the one and only. Tom terrific, Tom Seaver while fans will hold a press conference, demanding Brady apologize to see her his family, and Mets fans everywhere soldier in the restaurant will provide free beer and food for any Mets fans in attendance. The I'm for Brady getting this just because it's made Mets Mets Twitter Mets nations. So angry and I just want them to be miserable for everything anyway, the Mets fans have pretty miserable. I'm wondering, I haven't seen it, but I'm wondering if. Tom Seaver is plaque in the hall of fame. I bet it says, Tom terrific think it does. Yeah. I think I saw the picture of it that he would have to. He is that that's absolutely him. So this is a foolish thing that Brady's people do you think that's one of the best nicknames over? Sports wise. I if you relevant, whether it's good or not. But yeah. That was his name, if you had to come up with the top ten no, I did. I see where you're going here. Li- waffles. You want to do that tomorrow. Why not? All right. So we'll do the top ten sports nicknames of all time. Tom Terrific's not going to be in there. But Tom terrific is Tom a lightning list. Yeah. We'll be I could even find ten times that are better to be terrific than Thompson. Who's doing at me or you because I I'm happy to do it. Turco Health Day of the ten best sportsman, I'll give him my Craigslist. Correct. Ten fine tomorrow, top ten sports nicknames of all time in honor of Tom terrific, who is Tom Seaver, who is Tom Brady? Eightieth TB, twelve Tom terrific. He's on all the above. I remember when they tried to put cool Tom on him because Montana was cool, Joe or Joe cool that didn't work either Bremer guilt. I remember Gil Santos calling calling them. Tom perfect. Multiple Brady is so good. He doesn't need. He's risen above that. That's the thing about Brady others need it because you wouldn't know him. Otherwise, quick break. When we come back, we're talking to lose fell. Been the director of the writer and creator. I should say of the series dead. At farmers insurance. We know every windshield collision has.

"Some of your yoga exercises that you do. Really, okay. Well, my teacher is a dark jet. I and I love the balance exercises. So there's a lot of different things you can do standing on one foot raising up your other leg and then doing different positions leaning forward. So your body's prone. Tree position which is one where you're kind of standing up straight, but you're still on one leg. So I love balanced poses where you're again, you do a theories of various, motions and move is based on a me on one leg. There is one. There are two bird positions that I suck at. But I keep trying the pigeon, which is L Y gosh thinking about the awkwardness of a pidgin, you have one leg back, and you have one leg up forward in front, and you're laying flat or as flat as you could possibly get. Oh, it frigging hurts. And I mean, you try to get out of that position. And and I like it hurts bad. She tells you go slow go slow the other ones crow, which is your two hands or planted. Your arms are bed. You're supposed to have your shins on the backs of your arm. So essentially, you're triceps you're supposed to be. Up on two hands. So you're up off the ground because you're you're leaning and balancing on your triceps with your knees, yet, sounds it. Sounds complicated. I haven't been able to get up yet. So I can kick up there. But I can't stay up. I can't get the balance. So crow is also an extreme challenge to me. My favorite one is the one where you lay flat like, you're a dead person. That's my favorite. And it's funny too. Because they're like the two dirtiest birds you can think of instead of like or swan. I did my first solo head stand without any spotter her help getting up I got up there. And I was just hanging out looking at the rest of the room upside down, it was all I could do my instructors name is Laurie. It was all I could do not to say. Talk about a video that would get a lot of us. Stayed quiet. I was really proud of myself, but you should see the massive grin on my face. I mean, just hanging out looking at the world upside down, I was so proud. Squeeze in one more here. I think we can get in Joe wants to know what are some of the best nicknames in the NFL after Mr. big chest. That is not a good nickname is. No, it's not a good nickname at all. Shoe? I dunno on the I'm I'm up against the clock here with twenty seconds to go. Why can I remember any nicknames right now? Big Ben is a good one. I mean that was fitting a rod is a good one. Oh, sweetness Walter Payton. I thought you meant current shoot. What else? Do we have Tom terrific? No. I have no idea. I give me some are anymore nicknames. That I know the fridge was perfect. What else could you ask for? But that's not current. I don't I don't know. If there's a lotta great ones. I don't know either. But I can't I'm drawing a blank, I can't remember any of them. I can barely remember my own nicknames..

"Had six points, four assists, four rebounds. After missing a pass weeks that separated shoulder spoke post-game nice guy up and they really well. Those couple of big wins for ourselves on being able to be back out there that guys. You're listening to the sportscenter all night on ESPN radio and ESPN app. I am Jim Baskerville at age forty one Tom Brady himself has now secured more Super Bowl appearances that every single team in the NFL outside of his own patriots hill appear in his night Super Bowl having gone five and three competition. And I love trying to improve. I think that's what it comes down to. It's every year has its challenges. It's very different. You know when I was my first year to now. It's just you know, things change obviously with yourself team. You know, personal situations special situations and. I just love competing. I love playing football. I think loving the game and trying to improve and be the best for the team is is Craig motivation. So I mentioned the five and three record Super Bowls for Brady. There are some who believe that Joe Montana going four on the Super Bowl is more. Impressive discounting that Brady got further than Montana five times win or lose on super Sunday that counts because that means you didn't get knocked off earlier dairy and Mel on Tom terrific. So I I think I would still say five and five for Brady is still is this even four now. I don't care if he loses four more. Even if he loses this one and one more. He has still one more Super Bowls than anybody else. Has ever been to except for John Elway who's at five like he has still one more Super Bowls than anybody else. Other than John Elway has ever been to. And then if he goes to ten he would have been to twice as many as anybody else has ever been to one as many as anybody else has ever been to like, I don't even know how this is a conversation. It's because there's a lot of negative things when you hate you lose credibility. Anybody says I hate Tom Brady, and he's not then your credibility is shot. Only want to hear your argument haters have no credibility in any realm. So again in this case, this is just a hatred of Brady. And again, it's skews all their thinking to think that it's better to be four. No, then five and five and Super Bowls because he lost five, but he went there and didn't even get their good points across the board, the women's champions crowned in the land down under and more. College hoops ahead including the nation's top Brian vowels. Tested. That's next. This is sportscenter allnight on ESPN radio..
