Going clockwise. Starting with me the incomparable. The incredibly mustache. Roy white on twitter at our three r o y. How goes at this evening. It's going great Very exciting because we got to see what smith ages of a full force cowboys. Offense might look like in that you know as enough to tingle the tingle. The tights just a little bit. That's right next up in our particular group of destiny. We have the one and only meg murry on twitter at meg murry. That is four hours. You can hear both megan roy and our forth panels. Here's on the blog. The boys podcast network make every friday and gross talk and boys the sweater wearing Repping your favorite team so congratulations. That is true. You can find out the dallas cowboys. I up there was profiled on tonight's episode of hard knocks the fourth horseman. This evening tom riley who joined me earlier today on our roster reaction livestream on twitter at. Tom rile bt. Be tom Did you enjoy. Hbo program yeah. It was there. Were a lot of things to pull. I do the immediate written recap of it to bracco string along with and Yeah i especially like being able to work in the word. Resplendent referring to observe chimeras mother. That's right this was a big night from others. We saw observes mother we saw. We saw isaac electrons mother again. Meg i want to start with you. Why have we not. The four of us had a meal. That mike parsons is mother has prepared for us. Because it looks like she's capable of doing that in spades. I want whatever queen suri says making. She is the main character. She is the moment i love her and any time i get on. My screen is a blessing. Her food looks amazing. Roy did mica make up for his loss in chest. Bendon uchi by just housing late in vander At connect for now this feels like a setup by the hard knocks. This is something. I can't wait to ask the producer about this. Just occurred organically. Or if they planned it to where they would show. Michael losing it everything. He was on camera for up until this episode. Where really like. I don't wanna be to metaphorical. But was that not a absolute passing of the torch of like one the linebacker in leader in the linebacker room to another. And when you get your ass kicked that bagley in connect four and you can't see the next move that's preventing you from adapting Like i don't wanna make too much of that right. But that clearly shows that mike parsons. Thoughtfulness is on a different level. I think than some of the other linebackers in this group and unfortunately So good of a look for later not not will good really in any of his appearances here on hard knocks has he. Yeah it's been a tough scene for lighting certainly here on hard knocks. Tom am i reading too much into this or is mica being like everyone come into my house. Type of person like another level of leadership to him. Maybe now i'm trying too hard to like over glamorized the first round rookie that we've all fallen in love with but i thought like. Wow that's really cool that he's serving at the center. No pun intended actually serving of this integral and to me. It looks like it's deliberate. That's another move. He's thinking ahead on is that he's kind of establishing himself as a central point for that defensive group for the linebackers you know and you gotta admire the guy for having the moxie to do. That is a rookie. And i think it might be working Meal is kind of interesting that gentle. Lv twice because ob- little moment where I think he gave Was a joke with the little Approving props for the restroom was like. Oh really surprised with what. I don't care what you meg we got a taste of. The virtual meeting next the cowboys had going on last week. this has been a unique season of hard knocks. You are a reality. tv aficionado. This is very big brotherish in that. It's stuff happening after the actual action because again if this was a normal season of hard knocks with preseason already over we would have a regular season game this week so hard knocks would have been pressed to get all the roster cuts that we saw today to cowboys now down to fifty three players on their roster but they didn't feel the need to do that because they have their finale next week so that being said was it awkward for you. Make to watch them. Elevate isaac gone in hardy and these people that we know did not make it was first of all. It was more like the housewives reunions to me. You know it's okay. I will say that watching this episode knowing exactly what's happening not exactly what's happening with most of these guys but what happened today with them was kinda sad and i'm not going to get a little finality to this like but you can't throw that together in one day and i get that but just why why are you making us loved them more. Why not focus on somebody else. Yeah go ahead tom. Yeah we know no that they actually have been building now clearly towards three storylines. That's john hardy either. Gala khan and zor kamara and camara got a happy ending so far because mean he might not be under teams. I next tuesday that point. That's that's true but You know alarcon. We know we'll be on the practice squad because he's a freebie under the international pathways and we've gotta find out with hardy who may still be around..

"I've been there for about eleven or twelve years. And i was getting to the point where our starting to think about. What's the next thing for me and ended up meeting Gentlemen timmy who. I believe you know as well He was actually came to the came to the office to our office. In we're meeting and tom riley was there and You know. Tom had leave the early. And so i was ended up meeting with him for the rest of the afternoon. Ten was like as so what employee number where you At at ark site sold amigas. Well i just hired one previous because you wanna be got again and kind of set. The conversation off and i was ready to kind of make a move thing was definitely a big interest of mine. It just you know it's it's a whole sort of adjacent market to cybersecurity but it's very related right. Yeah you know the same when you look at financial fraud and retail fraud know the same criminals that are trying to break into the systems are the same ones doing the fraudulent transactions. I mean that is their motivation right. They're not trying to break into the bank because they want to cause chaos for most part. It will break the bank. 'cause they wanna still right. And so it's a very interrelated saying back then is really when we started talking about this concept of fusion center and you know sort of bringing together the fraud use cases with the cybersecurity use cases looking at these things holistically other red flags staff. And kind of getting the street to yeah. I hear people talking about fusion centers bennett yesterday. Yeah it's like this is way back right and so no again. I spent most of my time in the uk in new york working with financials international to singapore australia. Because that's where they were interested in these kinds of use cases. That was that i was working on. So you know metal metal out of really good people..

"But that's that's something that i think is affecting the mood here. Particularly of course leading into the the twentieth anniversary of nine. Eleven christine. Mac in annapolis. Thank you very much for joining us. let's bring the panel here in london into this now. Tom and kiara tom first of all. Do you think this has been a a week. That will radically change people's View of the united states around the world. Or is this one of those things that i as i suspect. Biden is also calculated though. I'm sure the images coming out of kabul this week but not what he would've wanted but he's probably correct is not in calculating now that probably really a month to six weeks from now. No one's really gonna remember any of this. I think they might remember. I think the calculation he makes though is similar which is the to his domestic political audience They will forget quicker. It is instructive though to look at. Who is saying what. I had a discussion on this station. With general sheriff. Who is a former nato supreme commander in europe he was apoplectic. He was infuriated. Raging and that rage was directed squarely at the americans in his objection. Wasn't that you know what's happening last week. Changes the fact that this looked like an intractable complicated situation which we all knew the soviets knew it the british. The old colonial days new at his was the mishandling specifically of withdrawal his contention was there was no need for the pace of the advance and there was no need to hang these people out to joy who had been assisting me combined effort for the best part of two decades. Let's not forget. So i think it will be very difficult for biden when he's talking to that coined of audience you know if he's a in nato meetings. I get that traction back and it just it strikes those markets here in europe the uk as being very much at odds with his earlier rhetoric. The us is back in foreign policy terms. It's back to what we knew. This feels like something would have happened. I even under the trump even under the trump administration watch which is pretty damning for biden. Caribou you think. There's an element as well. That people are quite surprised by the joe biden. We saw earlier this week because he had pitched himself. Not just as the person who wanted to america to lead again but as this is kind of how he won the election is cuddly reassuring avuncular chap who nobody really had anything against the speech he gave earlier this week. There was a a real flimsiness about literally saying well. If they fought for their own country why should we yes. It was a different. I guess monitor of speech that we saw from him and also some sort of self justification as well which i think. A lot of people didn't expect it was going to be nothing but chaos and and this kind of thing. I do think though that the situation currently in terms of the focus on domestic policy. You know as tom riley says there you know the the whole idea with bringing with the beginning of the baden administration. Was this return loss. America to foreign policy and yet by and large the the whole of the last year has basically meant to complete metaphorical of if not sometimes also very physical shutting borders for vast majority of countries around the world and i think that the hangover of that has impacted away leaders. Do think about the domestic policy. You know. I look at the way that the consequences of the afghans situation for example being handled in italy and we will get onto discussing rob and his alleged incompetence in dealing with the crisis but a similar situation happened in italy. As well and there wasn't as much outrage in terms of you know the the consequences of the way that it was handled there are criticisms being handed to a lot of different countries and their respective handling of the situation. And i think that the dominating john look at america has also go of course got to do with the massive involvement and they've had to have got him afghanistan but particularly because i guess people just didn't see them take a lead internationally also over the course of the last year and at this time there is just no willingness for any nation to be sent center of attention. Okay well let's move along from that. Although there will be much more on afghanistan in tomorrow's episode of the foreign desk premiering at midday uk time but obviously available for download after that Let's now take a look at the minutiae of scottish politics. Wait stop comeback etc. These scottish national party and the greens have published details of a new power-sharing arrangement it will be the first time the greens have participated in national government anywhere in the uk. It will see two of the seven. Greens in scotland's parliament. May junior ministers and both parties will commit to another referendum on scottish independence within the next five. Ideally sooner. that'll be fun minded. Tom read it. It's it's been awhile. Since this country had a good proper rancorous divisive all install shova some zero some all or nothing question that is going to dictate the course of futures for decades that senate clearly north of the border. I things are opening back up. Let's get stuck into this. I think it was really interesting about. The greens is clearly as a political force north of the border. They're doing what the liberal democrats did in their real faded coalition with tori south of the border a few years earlier. They're seizing on an opportunity. It's plainly politically expedient to go into partnership in one of these confidence and supply arrangements where your political clout is vastly increased by an accident of the quirks of the democratic process. We should stress. It's not quite a coalition it. It does have a number of amusing sort of agree to disagree. Causes about nato membership and fox hunting. Yeah again the the key issue defining demand on the streets Every waking waking hour. What is interesting. Is the sort of mainstream politically of the greens within the uk as the urgency of the sort of climate crisis. I mean this was the existential consideration for the foundation of meaningful green political movement all across the west through the kind of seventy s and into the eighty s and. Interestingly you know as that urgency has become ever greater weirdly that has compelled the policies wherever they are on the political spectrum to move towards some kind of broad consensus. Not of what the action is. Or how urgent action is going to be taken but t to mainstream the idea and it's interesting the greens into in this position. Where even while that has happened they stay they. They have become politically more more relevant. Because you might suppose wants everyone's talking about climate change. It renders the meat for parties whose whose very existence is predicated on addressing that from being involved in the process so that will be interesting to see how it plays out. I think one of the problems that the scottish greens will have is a problem. That green parties and movements all across europe have had which they get their chance at the big boys table and they show that like everyone else. They're incompetent governed by self interest pro into making terrible decisions so they have an opportunity but it may be that they just reveal. They have the same foibles and failures and propensity tonight. Mistakes that everybody else has kiara. How much of this do we think is nicholas sturgeon scotland's first minister and leader of this burnishing her climate credentials ahead of glasgow hosting cop. Twenty six in november because of course while while the thing is important in of itself nicola sturgeon. We'll be aware that scotland will be the center of the world's attention and she will very much be seeking to portray herself as well. She is a national leader. But you know what i'm saying she wants to portray yourself as a national national leader. Well definitely. I think that this is quite a winning move for her because it does kind of reinforce our position It gives a also this kind of optics credentials and in a way. You know it is an issue of scale right because we're talking about two ministers so we're not talking about something that's going to be life changing louis impactful on on her decisions but it's sufficient to give up to prop her up as well as give credibility and on this issue of scale..

"F. around high school hairy and now i think tristen hill may also be on the list. If he doesn't get his ass back in plan he could wind up without a job with the dallas cowboys. You're pretty soon. And that's kind of crazy to say considering how he kind of came along at. The end of the season last year and a lot of people were having expectations for tristan hill. Coming into this year is being beginning. Beginning of last year he finished up on our yeah. I'm sorry that'd be. There was a portion there at the beginning where people were very excited about him. And now finishing up on i r and then not being ready to go in the preseason. His clock is ticking. He is kinda i. I think he's on he. I don't think he comes off a pup well and then you it'll the cowboy cowboys probably going to take advantage of that new rule that the nfl announced that is an unlimited an unlimited number of players. This season can return from the. I are from the injured reserve. He go history. That is a valiant east. That team's going to lose to stash guys and it's still three weeks. Jahmai are than which is which. I think i mean. I can't understand why they keep these rules that that were created years and years ago for different reasons Yes some guys you just beat the sit down and get some medical care to but you don't need a cab sit out for six or eight weeks. They just need three or four weeks. And so i think that makes all the central. You've got all this money invested. You wanna get your best players out there. You want the best product on the field for revenue you know. You don't want a bunch of bad games because you don't have your best players available so all this stuff just seems logical account understand why they would have done this and besides which you know. If you're talking about the whole money thing a why would you wanna have these high dollar players sitting on. I r when you get back on the field and have a replace them know guy that's probably playing for a minimum of the judge the for a few weeks it just everything about the new rules make sense and i hope they're going to be permanent Well i Everything about the new rules make sense except for the you can't stand it again. We'll save that one for another pod. But that's what we got for the roundup. Podcast here for you on thursday getting you ready for friday night. "And the boys umbrella riled up on the cowboys with myself. Roy white at three on the twitter the social media. Sphere and my man tom riley at tom riley. Bt who you can reach out to. And who is looking rather tam where have you been. Where did you get this nice tan and for the cowboys fans wondering how did they look in your first to oxnard. Yeah i got to attend three practices in oxnard. Beautiful sunny you know. And it's easy to sit out in the the gleaming son when the air temperature point seventy seventy five degrees in the middle of the day it was glorious and more importantly it was you smell football in the air band is so good and i. I mean tamai admittedly not well trained die. I felt good. They looked focus. That were funny things like the the one day at the end of the practice You had a blake. Jarwan and dalton schultz. Were both on the jug machine. Standing like ten feet away from snagging balls and like they just kept going through ball the ball. They what they do is they catch it. Drop it in a fifty five gallon trash can and then they drag it back and do it again. And i couldn't tell whether this was two guys that were out working with each other and supporting each other and trying to get better or two guys that were determined not to be the first one to break and leave addo just just little things like that you get to see in person that that make experience something plus the incredible camaraderie. Let's say i met. I met rabble-rouser old number of the blog. Dan roger danny phantom Rent landon. The cool started podcasting when he was with logging. The ball boys has now moved on at a guy named tommy thompson Another guy ain't tucked a first name name tucker Who does his own thing. Is very much cowboys follower I met Huma cactus One of the people that is part of our community. I've got to be bill joan from. Cbs eleven who was very kinda talk to us for about fifteen minutes while he was waiting on a meal. And that's all the least well known of them for those of us as engaged as we are on social media right joe name. He was the only one staying at my hotel. So can i say but yeah. It was a great experience I recommend anybody that wants to go out. Just immerse themselves and things cowboys for a few days where you go and spend three or four hours with getting in there going. The souvenir shops ghetto for practice still free to attend yes. The party can be expensive but they charge twenty bucks a car to park who. That's awful cheap. Especially if you carpool two or three guys and then it's also is like one day you're happen to be with somebody that has a vip pass so you get to knowledge part park up real close. But it's you're a a great place in california. The scenery is pretty spectacular. And yeah it was a lot of fun. Well i'm glad to hear that. And i'm glad to hear the cowboys. Were looking strong out there looking spry against one another right. So it's kinda hard for you know as long as they're not looking sloppy. I think we're gonna feel pretty good about watching practice the thing you didn't get to see though unfortunately is kind of the news that has been surrounding the cowboys for the past two weeks. Now which is dak prescott activity and finally this week. We actually got to see him. Throwing according to some videos that we've seen now not gunning it right not fully letting himself go but throwing medium routes fifteen yards or so to amari cooper as they both kind of rehabbed their way back into this thing doesn't look like deck is going to be available tomorrow. So that's unfortunate. Because that a sanctuary means to me we get one preseason game for dak prescott and if he's only playing one game is going to play an entire half. I doubt it right with the bubble. Wrap that he's had on. I think we're maybe going to see a series or two of dak prescott and that will be all we get in the preseason. Is that enough. I well. I suspect. that's all we would've seen if he'd never had a glitch at all really just. I think they played in this game game to are. They wanna get maybe not employment all in the in the in the hall of fame game. I think they would have played them in this game. Point ima series to get his beak. Wet yeah well. I i just think most during the whole season would have been a couple of series You know. I'm not saying hey would have sat him out completely but i think they would have getting me like you said just enough to get out there. If he'd had one good drive. That might have been always saying they said. That's all we need shutting down you know and and i can understand the logic behind that now. They're talking that he may get to appear the texas game which is apparently going to be the dress rehearsal game but we still got a little bit more than a week. I guess for them to find out. I have to look at say what. That's thursday night or friday night or whatever game texans but would you be have to run would. Wouldn't you be concerned if he doesn't get any time in the preseason before his first snap being against tom brady and the world champion tampa bay buccaneers and quite frankly a pretty stout defensive line a very dangerous defensive unit not really. That's just that may be me. But i- cocky. I think i think he's he is so prime You know the the only concern about he might overthrow a couple early. Because he's so pumped up. But i think you'll be ready to one way or another. I don't think we're going to have much problem. Even if he comes out and looks a little bit off at the beginning. I don't think it will take more than a series for the settle down at and look like the dak prescott. We all need to see. But maybe that's just me being too optimistic about the man. Well it's okay to be optimistic If there's any time to do it it's now while we still have hope that he'll be back and back fully healthy in the meantime though that means we get a very healthy dose of the backup quarterbacks and how that situation is playing out before we get to kind of what you would like to see from the cowboys in their dress rehearsal. Did you have any thoughts the game because you and i have not really gotten to express any opinions about what we saw last thursday anything that stuck out to you that you wanted to get to before we get to what we would like to see in this upcoming game tomorrow night mike. Parsons is going to be a star in the league i thank. They've got good depth at receiver. Even though some of the passing to wasn't as good as would like to add. And i think there's some very positive developments that will get into about what to watch for in the coming game to alone in the defense. Besides parsons out that the is looking a little bit better yeah they. They weren't great. But if you go back and look at the statistics The cowboys out getting the steelers quite significantly They were doing more offensively But we'll talk about some of the problems that we need to see corrected in that arena to well i If i had to say you know anything stuck out in particular. I would say that. I'm you know. I'm officially done with one cowboy in particular. I know that he is on your list of guys you'd like to see. I'm good. I don't need to see anything else from him. I think i've made up my mind on where he stands on this football team. I wish the team would make up their mind because the longer they take to ultimately you know figure that situation out perhaps they're still evaluating it but as long as they take to figure that situation out it's only gonna make it a little bit more difficult than the option that you have to bring yourself a reasonable solution. They are going to dwindle so good. Yeah we been. Let's get to the list of things that i've came up with them. Yeah seeing this guard. Start that right there. Because tom has prepared a list of the five things that he would like to see the cowboys. Either build upon or improve upon in this game on friday night. And i think at the top of the list is what we're alluding to what is going to become the backup quarterback situation.

"Were kind of like sheltering me from having to stare at it so deeply as a kid which i think is probably like an act of compassion like for sure. But when you walk into the world and all you're left with is a silhouette of what happened to you and also to the person you love you don't have a bridge to living in a world without them and in the end in both her life and death. Elizabeth really showed all of us the power of a rich human messy maybe ugly but also beautiful picture of death but the real gift elizabeth gave me was making me bump into lou this man all right okay. So i'm gonna hang on the phone and you're still here okay. Eight is tom riley. Fifty four year. Old father of three. And i have stage four cancer very very serious form of cancer. He's dying from so the timeframe i think is like twenty months. How come you have a studio in your home. what was that for. This is actually for what. I'm going through right now so i started doing this. Just a couple of I don't know about three weeks ago. I call it f. cancer f- cancer cancer. Dot com. Yeah yes cancer. He has these long interviews with his ones where they talk about whatever they want to talk about with his life and death and then they got to keep those interviews after he dies. The whole approach that i've had with With my family and my friends is just kind of complete honesty. And when i first met tom i figured we'd talk once maybe twice but we could do these. Yeah i was just gonna ask you that because it just after that i call. We just kept talking again. Hey rachel tom how are you good. How are you. I'm doing okay. Had a cat scan this morning. So how did it go and again thursday's hi tom. This is rachel and again. You're not really knowing why but the two of us just kept feeling. This poll keep calling. Hello tom rally. This is an answering ritual. Good how are you good. I just settled into a new apartment. So i'm calling you talked. Nearly every week. I seven months now. And i think the reason is are there This is my last question from the rest of the afternoon. I really enjoyed. Because tom feel like. We're on this journey together. So i kind of do too. I feel presumptuous. Felt weird even saying has. Let me ask the questions. I wish i could have asked my mom because my mom was sick during nine. Eleven and i wondered. I've always wondered what it's like to be dealing with this really serious illness at a time of a national crisis a very real question for me at the beginning Because i had no reason to believe that. I was going to even make it past. You know halloween was oh god. I'm not even gonna get to see the election and and that that was actually you know probably in the top ten things that i thought of in the first hours of kind of facing was like i wanna see what the next iphone looks like..

"On Sunday night. Wade Miley goes for the Reds tonight. I'd imagine he's your kind of pitcher. A lefty who works quickly. Yeah, I liked everything about him. You know, I want I wandered into that worried about him in the spring training because he just wasn't ready. You know he wasn't Ready to go and I, you know, I said, man, we got a lot of guys trying to make that rotation, but, uh, yeah, he's been He's been a pleasant surprise. He's probably been better than they anticipated. But I'm telling you when you work quick and Phil strikes those guys make the players behind you, Tom, If I remember correctly, you learn to work quickly watching your dad's fast pitch softball. Do I remember that correctly? Correct. I had no idea they were on Time limit so they would go out there until three or four pitches in between ends. They go. They didn't waste time. And I you know, I can remember kids stepping out of man Little because I worked so fast. Uh, yeah, but that's where I learned it. And you know it was It was my rhythm was my tempo. I don't think it's for everybody. But it worked for me. Uh, because, like I said, I I prided myself. I'm throwing a lot of strikes and, uh I didn't get all those pitches back, but I just worked on Trying to keep my teammates in the game and all that. And they love playing behind me. Because, you know, they knew I'd like to throw strikes and, uh, every pitch on a chance be put in play. Hey, I was talking last night on the show. Yesterday was the anniversary of the Rob Dibble, Tim tough film ETS brouhaha and Shea Stadium in 1989. If I recall correctly, you might have had a part in that, perhaps in something that almost happened in the tunnel after the game. Is that right? Well, I was there. Oh, I wasn't leading the charge. But I can promise you, uh, you know, for some reason, Of course, when the Mets in 86 they had that just that awesome team and then you know they carried themselves. A little bit higher than most. Or at least that's the way it came across. So they struggle with a lot of people. But, you know, we had DeBow and Norm, you know, and those guys didn't back down to anybody. You know, I saw when I remember we had We got into an altercation here at Riverfront and Strawberry came out to the it only got to the foul line, he said. If anybody hits me, I'm coming to get you. So Norm was in like the seventh or eighth inning, A strawberry came up the first pitch. You hit him right in the rebbe's He just went to first base. Yeah, those guys. You know their names were, uh, they They just carried themselves that way. So I think everybody struggle. But I had Tim toughness now, Tim Truffle. Oh, my God. This This shouldn't be in the Hall of fame. If he faced me all the time because he just wore me out and Double. I think hit him in the back square right between the shoulder blades. The ball crawl down the vertebrates, water, the sound and then I I I see it after the game. I believe like one, Sam. Well called the clubhouse saying Meet me in the eye, and I think he was calling Norm or somebody was called nor meet me in the tunnel. Let's go. Well, the good thing about Jay Stadium if they got a police station there, so there was there was 60 cops there. There wasn't going to be any alter cases. I can tell you that, but it was, uh there was some hot tempers. Can promise you that there was just just in those days. Yeah, man. Oh, man. Hey, it is great here. Your voice, uh, should be fun this weekend and enjoy your experience at the All Star game. And don't don't mumble or blow that pick or mispronounced the name, all right? Well, I hope I get the right name. Because if it coincides with the one I got them. We're okay, Tom. Good catching up. Thanks. Appreciate it. You got it. All right. Take care. Tom Riley. It's better than sitting on the couch watching the news doing nothing lifelong Republicans until 2016 the walls weren't fans of Donald Trump. So they voted for Gary Johnson. But this November they'll proudly vote Democrat. Is there anything in particular that put you over the edge? So we were sort of already there, but certainly, Charlottesville Is the time when I said enough because right now in the Republican Party, if you're not a fan in the cult of Donald Trump, you're not welcome. And they will. They will tell you that you don't feel welcome. Oh, no, no, no, no. As a matter of fact, when we sit out there with our signs, One of the things we hear the most often is go home, and we're trying to figure out since we're at the end of our own driveway where home is supposed to be Arizona State Public Affairs professor, Dr Tom Riley says independence have turned this formerly bright red state purple could help push it blew this time around. As a third of the state's electorate. Independents are trending towards biting by a whopping 25 points in the latest New York Times, CNN poll. 53 to 28 What we're seeing is his general frustration to the divisiveness that is occurring in Washington and across United States and people are searching for a different way. That's especially noticeable among Latino voters. They're just taking it for granted and thinking, Okay, well, they're Latinos, and they're going to go ahead and lean Democrat That's not the case. Caroline Van Houston doesn't like how the Latino voters have traditionally been taken for granted. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic. She came to the U. S. During her college years. She voted for Obama in overweight and has ping Pong between parties ever since. Despite being disappointed in a lack of focus on the issues she will vote for biting. A lot of the Democratic Party has been neglecting to really addresses that issue of immigration and they're really up for grabs, and they're having a hard time. Making a decision on which way to go because no one is addressing the issues that matter to them. Most Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, has by far the largest floating population in the state. The county went for Trump by three points in 2016. He follows through on what he says Barbie Ruin also voted for Gary Johnson 2016 but now likes what she's seen from President Trump, since Corona virus has come out our economy and state Fairly stable. And that to me is is astonishing, especially considering the number of people who are out of jobs because they can't go in. He's allowing the states to make the decisions for themselves. Which is what it should be The one thing we found all the voters we talked to here want Turn down the temperature a little bit. I pray to get back to a country where we can have conversations. What we don't agree on every issue, and we can still be friends. And I know that sounds whether cliche, but that's really my deepest prayer for this week. I'm Alex Percy and carefree Arizona. W. W. dot renovations AZ dot com go boy there's some beautiful work on there and we talked about water sources in the last segment what about power if you're moving it to the mountains who's your power providers a P. S. A. P. S. exclusively in that area is going to be a your power provider and that's a good point to bring up around me because they used to be a time when a PS would take their power thousand feet or so you know from wherever their sources to your cabin no more no no you got to pay for it now so you need to find out where the power the nearest power line is and you usually have to pay a PS to bring that power to your house anymore interesting I've the last time I built my home and what it meant they were still paying for it then yes relatively new latitude arcade you need to check on that you know if the power line is two hundred feet away then in a it's gonna be overhead then I think they do that but if it's a something beyond a certain distance you need to check with the local UPS office and make sure that you have power in the proximity if you're buying some raw land now a lot of homes in the mountain areas are dual energy yes typically what you'll find is a most of the homes outside of the metropolitan areas are pain unisource is the natural gas but there isn't that much natural gas way back in the pines some areas yes some areas now because natural gas would be piped the propane is the tank that's placed on site the yes correct somebody come fill that somebody need Barrett propane who who will be joining us next break so is that you don't get yes it's gas.

"Bad luck with very and that's I mean you know because god knows what you know what the results of that could be yeah I I think it's interesting in talking to voters today is the voters who are not who are more moderate and honestly a little bit more apathetic about the political about the presidential race in general yeah it's probably the first thing that people know about her right you know right side of the R. Massachusetts state house begin hell Bible grave political intrigue is you know people know that she took on the banks and people know that she called herself native American right she's a blonde haired blue eyed right right which is which is that I really like that's the thing that gets people crazy right when you don't know anything about the you know scandal are or cross I scandal behind it look at her yeah and just doesn't strike you as anybody who's made American yeah and I think it makes her her story it's damaging because it makes her story and her identity ironically very confusing because she does have this compelling story of growing up and growing up blue collar and working so hard to rise to the ranks of being and Harvard professor I don't think someone should be punished for taking a lot of money to work at Harvard because I think if any of us were killed for needy I'm free if they want me to TS wasn't absolutely yeah I'm you know I'll do that at night yeah but Arneson but when it comes down to you know talking so strongly about your identity and then kind of glossing over or something like this right you know it's just a major misstep to me and it sticks out to people yeah I think crave authenticity ironically and their politicians I know something like that it's a pretty big error I wonder if that's why devol the government the former governor is is looking at coming in it it it's so interesting to me that this late in the game he's some and it's funny because I was just thinking about him the yesterday and my husband was too and I don't even remember or like I don't know why my husband was I was thinking about him because here I am now and now I can't remember I was like oh well Patrick thought of the movie really all I was really wondering I wonder would devolve that Monday Night Football if you don't see in this case it's a big part of your life that you can't live eight I think it's true though just because yeah he was so when I was at the little son I was working at the state house right when he was running for for governor so I I covered the governor's race and that was like I was so young and that was my first governor's race that I covered so it was like I guess I got to know all the players and of course they didn't think he was you know Tom Riley was supposed to be though the he was the throws in winter so it was a surprising win and then this was like his first time you know this first time really being a politician so it's really interesting to see and cover all of his terms so yes I do I do again he's like an ex boyfriend I know I can't shake and while you're like thought of this I wonder if two devol would hate yeah totally he knows what it's like he gets me but you were asking me before the show about the first Massachusetts yeah which is very a very strange wind because it happened well before I was born is Chappaquiddick okay I learned about that I remember in I think a neck high school journalism class might have been a college journalism class yeah but we were learning about about gotcha interviews and that was an example of how you know breaking open a story and trying to hold politicians accountable how would how you could help the power of journalism Rabor just sitting there I think I was like a teenager and being like want to ruin someone's life like that yeah the sweet naive contacts right right now he doesn't get to be president we never use it again went over my head a little bit like that reporter what a jerk yeah well that is indeed how most of those reporters are made to feel so if you see as a reporter like what a great yeah I or yeah I mean as in the fire it is right yeah yeah it is funny that is normally how those reporters me to feel and it's funny because Chappaquiddick is a story where that I have not done on animal house yet yeah and it's personal because it's just so loaded you know and also feels like it's just been done to hi hat that I wanted movie came out what two years yeah I just I just recently yeah the whole movie that they I think they'd premiered it on Martha's vineyard wow yeah I theater there which surprised me that they would let them do that right now I guess they didn't premiered in Hyannis port so yeah and it is I mean one of the interesting things as you as I look at especially like older scandals is how they are covered and that's the other thing is like the way it comes out and and what reporter maybe has a you know more of a a softer view of certain politicians and different aspects like that it's very very interesting to sort of see the way a certain publications covering it versus the way another publication is covering it it's right it is really incredible how how like what gets written what sort of the final take away for a lot of people is often colored by who end up either being the Victor or I mean that's yeah you know okay Kennedy went on to be the elder statesmen yeah now and was again very beloved got a big you know didn't get to be president but he got to be forgiven and continue his exactly very successful political career and Massachusetts it's so interesting too because there was this there is this episode of animal house that I did about a very specific because there's unfortunately a lot of incidents with Ted Kennedy that that basically qualify for animal house but there was one unfortunately I animal yeah he's not okay eat it this is before he met Vicki and remarried and sort of got is bleep together and it's right around we met rami challenge him which is like ninety four I think because he was a mess he really was and it was like he lost his mo Jo right it was like he just lost his way entirely so he wasn't really paying too much attention to politics either you know what I mean and on the job he wasn't didn't really care you know as a politician yeah like we yeah if I was like I'm just you know I'm not really sure I wasn't or sports right yeah now I'm just done without Celtics would rather not for that game three it's yeah that's pretty much where it was that and there is a really good article by this guy named Michael Kelly who used used to be a reporter for the Atlantic the Atlantic monthly I when it was still here in Boston and is a really good writer and the article that he that he wrote was bar room tells like totally brutal about Kennedy and it was focused actually just the opening scene alone it shows has Kennedy with the sheikhs from drinking too much like the night before yeah I just I mean it is it is a really one of those really great stories where it opens up and and narrative you know describes a scene and you really can be there you really can picture at great kind of magazine amazing exactly and it and it's funny the the almost the best part about it is he also shows because it's this press conference that like Kennedy can clearly not be even bothered by but the funny thing is in it's about healthcare at one point he is asked a question and this guy Michael Kelly writes that you see flashes of the old Kennedy II where he gets really excited about an aspect of this healthcare bill that he himself is trying to push for a conference actually he actually went and sites to do its job and I agree and gets really excited about it and so the like so that he wove that into this sort of opening scene out of his article it really was very captivating and a really really well written peace and just sort of interesting to see the Kennedy is so lost his way but but you can still see that sort of magic that clearly he has when he chooses to sort of yeah yes to be is to get people to come to work of so yeah so that is that is interesting was there one that you were like remember that you were covering when you were sort of starting on the job I scandal I guess I haven't really gotten to have my big scandal moment yet yeah I mean either then you know I haven't I feel like the me to staff has been really interesting to me just especially as a young woman and seeing all of that it wasn't political by I think was about a year and a half ago I did a story about restaurant workers yeah and the need to era and how I mean they're getting covered so little because it yeah now it's it's all okay Matt Lauer and the right right all these other high profile people who get caught being very badly behavior but then there is the everyday cases of you know young women who were just trying to waitress on the side of whatever else they're doing and Brian to pay their rent and having to deal with the same thing yeah nobody really tells that at least the Mario was much Mario Batali at least that sort of you know help with that aspect but you know that was so you know they did close down Bob go in after the seaport pizza place yeah so well being the impact great yeah in our daily lives and I mean that's that is I mean I you obviously is for from doing this for as long as I have it it is really interesting to see it certainly is a reporter when you're in it it's very weird and one of the things that might my first scandal that I covered right so the first one I remember as an outsider was that never realists oracle ten running against the incumbent map realist but as a reporter il ten is such a great work I know I know and because it's got so many vowels yeah I mean first of all you don't know if there's an I or any eat tore gold send our and what does the I don't know I just hate to see it as a book report exposed to know this you know but indeed I have had to like I've I'm probably misspelled it because I've gone back to him through the years he liked can't give up to fall I can't give up your call to know I will never give up your goals and because he was actually this was in the high school history and I wrote a song to work there about nav rule is eight but it was actually know the song was from Torkel sins point of view well that's very nice it was it was odd but yes it was it was quite something it was based on because you like crafted himself after weld and you know is right around the time like wild was doing really well as governor Torkel ten was was crafting himself to be a similar Republican like a social liberal but conservative fiscally so Massachusetts yeah yeah so anyway yes to work within indeed out when I the first one that I wrote about was a summer bill Maher this isn't my job at the summer real journal my very first Larry all reporting job local my god and I was like it was I was a call up at the glow before I graduated and I was lucky to get a job with the some real journal instead of like having to go to like the bomb you know like sixty no absolute being able to stay in the city at least but anyway so dirty Kelly a was there and there was this there was this really horrific gang rape in foss park and it was by and Mister keen gang members are and it was a disabled girl it was like the worst you could possibly get and she was a teenager all this terrible stuff and at what point I'm they really wanted a gang unit out in east summer about which is where it occurred in foss park and the the mayor just wouldn't do it for some reason and you know I was like what what do you gonna do in response to this and she said well we'll do more lighting and so course that's pretty weak right I ran we ran with that that was the headline was more lighting for this horrific thing so I she in response she had had a needing that was planned to talk about the incident to talk to the community about it and she got all of her workers to show up to this meeting that she knew I was going.

"Yeah yeah yeah and the closing is so he was an economy measure on the data dat forgive me okay so the state police American Eurocopter helicopter crash into Harvard university's boat house along memorial drive in Cambridge killing state troopers Paul Perry and James model Yano also killed were two passengers Arthur Howland Michael McCarthy both eighteen T. technicians Krikorian said public safety commissioner Kathleen o'toole decided to announce the new procedures an effort to avoid the information leaking out piecemeal and causing pain for the victims' families now the state police or public safety officials would comment unsubstantiated reports of sabotage or on at Middlesex district attorney Tom Riley's investigation the crash are the only technical step it was announced involving the dismantling I detected the he announced the that water had been discovered in the bottom of the tank shortly after the crash helicopter had taken on its last load of fuel to Norwood airport where the wing is based so last week the globe quoted an unnamed source was familiar with the investigation is saying one factor in the crash was that a wrong fuel filter on the tank in Framingham apparently allowed a contaminant to get in to the helicopter the NTSB has previously said it found a foreign substance in the fuel system I'm a fuel contamination normally would not have been catastrophic but in a necessarily but an unnecessary fuel additive apparently was introduced into the text possibly causing contamination passed to the engine so that was another aspect basically in this crash that it didn't have anything to do with retaliation however so their news leaks out that tool is going to somehow become the new state police colonel and that ends up getting torpedoed because she also has been tainted by this crash the ending the ending story is that of course Henderson is tossed he ends up leaving and then tool is looked out for replacing him and they won't replace some big I mean she doesn't replace some because of course she's tainted by this too this is a April of nineteen ninety six this is of course after Henderson decides to calling his chest I guess save your safety secretary Kathleen o'toole behind the scenes critic of management state police is not that behind the scenes I don't think is expected to be named its first woman superintendent by the way I love the story because it's one of those classic first of all it's it's incorrect this lead is to is you know actually wrong she was expected to be named its first woman superintendent when its embattled leader retires next week all that's wrong she ends up not being named its first woman superintendent at all but an administration official says she is definitely on the shortest of short lists I don't know who gave his Corp it's terrible and then the administration official who requested anonymity we love her tool forty two says she has not talked to the governor about taking the job but said weld teases her about her obvious enthusiasm for the position he knows where my heart is so tool said people know I'm a police officer not a politician I don't have any political aspirations well apart from the political aspirations to get the job but anyway whatever well decides tool says would be fine with her I don't know if that's true I'm going to do whatever the governor wants me to do tools said officially tools one of four finalists for the job being vacated by colonel Henderson others include captain read Hellman who actually ends up getting the job let's see who else I don't know bunch of other people weld said yesterday he expects to pick Henderson successor by next week the only possible hitch to tools appointment according to sources would be if she is perceived as having engineered Henderson's ouster to further her own career that's exactly what ends up happening of course over the past four months tool is brushed off remarks by Henderson loyalists that she had designs on his job she continually has spoken with enthusiasm about the talent and potential of the department her criticism of Henderson's management wasn't ill kept secret yeah I know bleep it wasn't L. kept secret she's pretty much quoted often about how she felt it was his fault that is crash happened in the first place o'toole who still holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the state police denies that she was gunning for Henderson's Hobbs quote I have never stepped on anybody to get where I am today she said no no no Henderson forty nine is leaving following a string of controversies including a report by the Federal Aviation Administration on a fatal helicopter helicopter crash last year that was highly critical of the supervision of the state police is air wing two troopers and two eighteen T. we know this died on the FAA said a pilot training was a factor basically handers and of course injured two no confidence votes by the troopers union in the past three years the most recent voice vote taken at a meeting attended by two hundred and fifty members in January the sense that tool orchestrated Henderson's ouster was fueled by her commissioning of a management study that was widely expected to be critical of Henderson tools and yesterday the study's initial findings were given to her in March the same day that Henderson's retirement plans became made public I think that some proof right there all right thank you all for listening to animal house as always I always love talking about the.
