"Back to the top stars radio show. Good to have you with us today here at our Liberty University studio in Memphis Tennessee. Let's go to the phones. Call your bell Tennessee. Chris listening to us on kw our flagship station. Chris, what's on your mind today? Thank you for taking my call, Todd. I just wanted to point out in your old assertion about crime. You also have a problem. It's not just the city councils. It's not just the mayor and things like that. It's your district attorney. It's your attorney for the region. Also these weak prosecutors and the week very, very weak prosecuting attorney. You got to throw the gauntlet down at some point. So the responsibility is also in those people to go to the state and say, look, you have relaxed crime legislation. We want to make it harder. You need your DA and your prosecutors and people like that to step up to the state and say, we want harsher penalty. Whatever happened to three strikes you're out. So it's not, you know, you really got to look at the people that are in play. And that includes your district attorneys and your regional attorneys and like I said, prosecutors and judges. I mean, this thing of slapping people on the wrist. I mean, here in Shelby county, you know very well Todd. They don't even prosecute kids who are down at Tom Lee park a few years ago who were outright robbing people because they said, well, we don't want to clog up the juvenile system. No, I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, I remember that, Chris, and I'm curious as a citizen here. I mean, look, if I were a member of the black community, I would be enraged because overwhelmingly, this is a black on black crime issue, and it is, I mean, it is dangerous in the city for everybody, but especially the black community. Yes, sir, absolutely. And that's why I'm saying, you know, I really put a lot of blame on people that have the ability to go to the state, the DA, the attorneys for the region and the judges who could say, look, we got to stop this rolling in and roll them out. How do you commit an armed robbery and you turn around and you're out in 30 days? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, we're done with that. And so that's where a lot of the power lies is in those people. And so we've got to require them to be harsher, not just your city council and your mayor, but look at all the attorneys and the people that are in the prosecute in the prosecution that are involved who could demand harsher pen. And Chris and we got to run here for the top of the hour break, but I will say this, watching that city council in action, that tells me that people are not engaged in this community. There's no way half the people up there on that platform should be anywhere near an elected office. And that tells me that we're not sending the best and the brightest to city hall, and that's happening all over America. I mean, look at the guy that burned down the fox Christmas tree. The guy just been let out of jail. The guy's got a ramp sheet a mile long. Unbelievable. Folks got to take a break here. A lot more coming up senator Marcia Blackburn Trish Regan. And your cause as well, this is the Todd starnes.

"So that would put it but eight weeks ish away a little less than eight weeks away from current where we are currently so will. It happened may twelfth through the fifteenth scheduled. If so what are these circumstances you know me. I'm never lasting optimists in the group. I'm going to say yes just because i think so many people have gotten vaccines in utah. It's open to everyone. So i think by that time. I mean it was so close last year that i think that it will be one of those pushover by the way. I want kinda go back a little bit. It's not muddy waters. all right. it's the pixies anyway. I think that it will happen. Just for the record for the record is a states in the you know in the history books of the barbecue central. But i think it happened. I won't go. Because i don't have ten thousand dollars to set up in a in a five by five booth but i will Love to one day. Have you not been approached to be a hired gun. Like doug does down in texas Yeah couple me come cook with them. So i guess i could carry pringle. Come on and do dishes some cool. So maybe John is memphis somme happening. Twelfth through the fifteenth in may yes or no and if so under what circumstances. I'm going to say yes i'm giving it a fifty fifty shot that it's going to happen right so i'm right down the middle the conditions i didn't they rework. Tom lee park. Didn't they expand or change their change to the venue. There's been a change of venue since last time it happened but i really it's it can't i don't see it happening like it did. I mean it's a cramped thing. I can't even predict what it might look like. I don't even want to. I can't even fast. Is it now my pick which is correct. Pick with every fiber of my being. I wanna throw down stone cold lead. Pipe lock that memphis may is going to go off totally one. Hundred percent le- unreal strict. Just like it was back in two thousand nineteen however the betting man in me says there is a one hundred percent chance that the memphis in may tournament will not tender. You are not. It will not be happening in any form or fashion. it will be canceled for. Its second year and you can take all of your two hundred dollars straight to the bank and collect after you pass go. It is not hap- next year full-blown memphis in may the likes. You've never seen it before this year. Not a chance in hell not a snowball's chance in hell book. It better question from doug will the amazing ribs. Meet up happen in memphis. Doug yes or no. I'm gonna say yes but it's not gonna be at full participation rusty again over ever the optimist. I wanna go to that thing. I really genuinely want to go. So i hope it does happen. What does that mean. You wanna go to it like you want to talk to do that. Eat all the food. Yeah do you know how much you know how much that trip cost. I don't know john loaded. Do you have a working knowledge of what the trip cost is going to be outside travel. I thought it wasn't a six hundred dollar number. But now don't quote i want to say i wanna say it's all of six hundred. It's probably all in after travel and so forth it's probably gonna be closer to fifteen or sixteen hundred bucks. That sound right. Does that does that. High does i think is six hundred and some for the actual of conference event not including hotel travel. Yeah wow and how many days does the event. I'll just give you a number of the travel. Let's say forward. Let's say in. Let's say it's an arrival day. And then you have three days of expo and then you can either leave on that third day in the evening or you stay one more night and then leave out the next day you gotta budget fifteen hundred for your travel. That'd be the budget design is a travel person. Fifty hundred travel hotel. Okay for the travel. You're coming on right but you're talking about amax airline tickets so give yourself a budget of seven hundred bucks and i one but that's fifty your hotel taxes. Taxis stuff like that where you're going to be a six hundred plus six hundred fifty or whatever. It is that all right. How how how's that grabbing you now rusty. I don't that's fine. Pay a lot more sausage for a day. Rust is running rich bitch. That's right. i'm rich my white. I don't do it all right. Well her money's your money russi there's no need to disseminate or anything like that John yes or no on the ribs dot com. Meet up have no idea. I really can't even speculate on that one. But i'm going to hope that it does go on for them. I'm gonna say yes and now we've come to somebody giving you the real answer on what's going to happen. There is as hero percent chance anthony zero percent chance and we'll leave it at that. Rusty has a quest or rusty is saying this theory revolution is on. We've heard this being bantered about here over the last month or so you've taken some sear stakes to task however you have also made a note that you are getting other names involved so please give us some background on what the fear revolution is going to look like in your mind and how you're going to be able to expand. I can't even believe we're going to say this. Expand the revolution of. Why is it going to take a foothold. So it's going to happen. You know if you guys so db one. Eighty is a product by will call you. And he does a class on the barbecue champs that he sears a stake k now he does very well in the sea is but more importantly db one eighty twenty two. I'm i'm now affiliated with anyway. Twenty two the sixty calls in the sea finals and five of the of fifteen or whatever of the final final calls that was db one eighty so will is spearheading this. I am helping my best with the platform that i have on the pitmasters podcast. We talked everyone in almost every single person but to all these hardcore. Sea cooks said they would do a seer this year in twenty twenty one and test it out. All it has to do is hit a couple of times. And i think that will be able to push it through. And that it'd be more mainstream. Because here in utah several people sear and our judges are used to it. It just takes a matter of people getting out there having the balls to do it and instead of crying later that all we have to all we have is the you know the the grill marks and why do we have to do the grill marks and also back. Oh that was time you know we had it revolution and hopefully instead of that we do have fifty fifty split throughout the united states. A people doing sear. Because i'm not gonna say it's easier but it sure as hell tastes better and it's i think it's a better steak all in all but what it's going to keep us out of that. Rut of what. Kcbs has now of the chicken. The pillow chicken. You know like you did that to yourself. Don't cry about it so when you have a grill mark. Don't cry about it if you're not gonna put up and try to change the view of the sea judge on looking at seared steak and giving it a good appearance score so twenty one. There's a whole bunch of people out there. Searing there's four that we're doing down in bakersfield four of us in there several in utah. Doing it wills good doing doing it on the mid the mid west wherever the hell he's from oklahoma or something like that and they're doing it all there and there's a whole bunch of bigwigs.
