"Here's Tom Cutler. All right, the Seahawks with a chance to win the NFC West. This is for the first time since 2016 if they do that. That will happen if they could do it. The Los Angeles Rams Sunday and Lumen feel they have to play better than they did earlier this year against the Rams of very good defense, according to coach Pete Carroll. We're gonna have to be able to be very flexible in this game and we're going to need the running game. We're going to need to be able to pass pro We're gonna need to find some space to get kids involved. You know, it's gonna take everything these this is the best defense will will play. And so it's a great challenge Force. Seattle's a slight favorite in that game. "97 7 Jeremy Greater at the editor's desk. Good afternoon. I'm Rick Fan sites along with ELISA Jaffe. Almost two dozen people are facing federal charges in connection with a distribution ring that funneled drugs onto the campuses of prominent North Carolina universities. U S attorney is asking officials at UNC Chapel Hill Duke University, an Appalachian State university to do something after finding out people were selling drugs inside fraternity houses. They're estimating that more than £1000 of marijuana. Several 100 kg of cocaine and other drugs were funneled onto campuses. First time jobless claims arising the Labor Department reporting there were about 885,000 claims made last week. Analysts expect that number to be significantly lower and bankrate dot com senior economic analyst Mark Camera takes a closer look with Cuomo's Tom Koehler. I'd say happy holidays Mark not not pushed to be happy about it. We look at these numbers today. Well, I think we can all find reasons Theo feel sense of gratitude. Perhaps that we are healthy and safe. But you're right. Certainly from these numbers, discouraging. I think we're now up in for the past five weeks with respect the new jobless claims, Tom as I look at the state of Washington, we did see a decline here. 5200 new claims still elevated 20,000 claims so You know, I think that we're just sort of in this both economic and pandemic purgatory right now, And we know that we will get to that better place once the vaccines are administered, But this is gonna be a long wait. And so this is why I think that we're continuing to see heavy pressure being exerted on our elected officials to get another round of believe legislation completed and they seem to be moving toward that. But even as they do it still, by the time it is all put into, you know, practical effect is gonna be weeks more before anybody gets any real relief, Right? Remember complaint that my teacher had about me in the second grade was I wasn't fulfilling my full potential on do I feel like this is absolutely the case with There's of Congress. You know, it's 265 days, Tom since president signed this accident wasn't long after that, that we start to worry about the exploration of programs in July, Okay? On glee know that you know, more than 10 million Americans. We're gonna face the prospect of losing their unemployment benefits in the coming days. But good news, I think is that it does appear that Senate majority Leader McConnell is basically saying We're not leaving here until we get this done. So he feels a sense of urgency, even if it's all too late in coming well, and you point out that a Zafar as you could tell members of Congress on and everyone that has been kind of dragging their feet on this have never had to worry about food banks or food stamps to feed themselves or putting the food on the table, So it's perhaps hard for them to realize. From the perspective of someone going through this what It's like. No, The only prospect of unemployment they have is when their terms air up in. Some people have already made that decision of the voting booth, though our virtual voting booth here a few weeks ago, but Um, you know, it's probably wrong virtually tar and feather all of them, but but nevertheless, you know, I think they're grated on results, not just a stance and we need the results, and that's why they're set. Not far from where I'm sitting here outside the nation's capital, Alright and Fed chair Jerome Powell said that the central bank is ready to do whatever they need to do. But what can they do? You know, I think he has been his vocal as a Federal Reserve chair can be in the sense of urging these folks to move forward. As he said yesterday is a very, very strong case for this legislation and You know, he can only do so much. I mean, they've talked about the things that they can do. We won't get into that right now. They've already pushed interest rates to record low levels. Low interest rates. Don't put food on the table don't help people to pay ransom. We need those lawmakers to take the next action. All right, Mark. Thanks So much for your analysis, as always, once again from bankrate dot com. That's senior economic analyst Mark Hamrick. And.

Tom Koehler has more now from the Harley Exterior Sports desk. We know that quarterback Russell Wilson of the Seahawks is fond of saying the separation is in the preparation. The preparation may have him in a little bit of hot water with the head of the NFL Players Association, Wilson and Decay, Metcalf posted video of them working out on their own recently. That's not supposed to be happening. D. Marie Smith ahead of the NFLPA talked about Wilson and New Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady holding workouts on their own, and Smith said. They're not in the best interests of protecting our players, not only their health implications, but the league and the union are still negotiating what would happen if a player gets sick during the season. Speaking of former Patriot Tom Brady, it looks like he may be replaced by Cam Newton. To a one year 7.5 $1,000,000 deal with New England. "Yes I'm only it's a long long we you know just really any reason to play the late great Jack Sheldon who I believe his name came up in the vicious story that ray told me about me this morning on the Mancow show which I'll get to time for many hoping to make sure tainted the lawmakers truly face the music stayed seven Melinda bush Democrat Grayslake has introduced a bill that would bar members of the General Assembly who face criminal charges from serving in any leadership or committee positions now that sounds good doesn't on the face of it if you're charged a criminal probe charged if your charge you should not be a you should not be a committee had you should not be a German right remember when US the son of all was charged he was the head of the very powerful transportation committee in Springfield for the state Senate so middle I think then president John Cullerton removed him from that chairmanship but he remained in the assembly and tell the Senate until he resigned if I'm not mistaken and after state senator Tom Koehler ten was indicted for allegedly embezzling money from the teamsters he was removed as the chair of the Senate labor committee but look you know we we discuss is saying see it's in season get emotional about this like St I school you know it's a mole who get emotional on a lot of things are killed only god sort about that sort of reaction but in this case if you truly believe in being innocent until proven guilty when this bill when you say no that I disagree with this bill because I'm not to remove anybody from income I'm not going to take your job away from them Intel they've had a chance to defend themselves in a court of law yes or no three one two five nine one eighty nine hundred Tom Colton was paid eighty thousand dollars is a member of the Senate according to records he's accused in a federal indictment of taking a hundred eighty eight thousand dollars in salary and sixty four thousand dollars and health and pension contributions as a ghost payroll or for the teamsters Cullerton has pleaded not guilty has vowed to clear his name I'm like son of all who has pleaded guilty and has yet to be sentenced correct so bush said her bill applies to all leadership positions including the house speaker Senate president majority and minority leaders caucus webs and all committee positions my understanding those are all all all of what I meant to received additional compensation additionally she said she would bar any lawmaker charged with a crime from even whole even holding a committee seat but being charged with a crime you realize what a cudgel that could be used against him politically yeah you could charge you know there's malicious prosecutions out there or does it though my friends who are members of the trump in world you know you think of there's a lot of malicious prosecutions out there right the deep state so you can support this bill and still say there's been malicious prosecutions man afford Colin stone what have you right so you would you would you would disagree with us I would hope you would have to be kind of intellectually honest here it's good for the goose is good for the Gander right does matter what party we're talking about what matters is you get to defend yourself in court sorry we're gonna presume every politician to be guilty until they themselves prove themselves innocent where do you go to get your reputation back so I say you can remove them from office if they've been convicted of a crime felony I would say maybe not a misdemeanor voters can decide for themselves right but it I would say that perhaps after they're convicted you can say we're being removed from office or I was going to move from your committee ship Mister chairman madam chairman so that's that I get that but not yanking them out of the chair before they get due process I'm totally against that doesn't work a lot of you are weighing in on the same high school deal I'm saying that this is all the principles fault or this is the superintendent's fault or what have you and that the teacher should be defended I thought that would lead us into this so interesting story yeah we deal with the weather the weather issues all the time here in Chicago I believe today I think Gary Indiana canceled our public school because of the extreme weather I get it that's the superintendent so decision but down in Madison Alabama there is superintendent Robbie Parker earlier this week they were expecting a lot of rain and he was a deluge to win of a lot of messages from students and parents to saying why this is too dangerous for the kiddies to come into school today because we're getting a lot of rain we're gonna get a couple inches of rain down here and we can have them all going to school with this rain so this guy decided to take to social medium self and reply to all the kids and the parents early on Wednesday morning saying now we intend on having school here is my new hero medicine city superintendent Robbie Parker bit out again a thousand messages.

"If they were on the beach side and he can take it away from the beach which he gives the island the view as they come over the bridge with keeping that area opened. Yes he's going to have. His has waterpark waterpark. Over there and yes there will be buildings around it so some areas will be blocked view but the real thing is is that he he could have because he owns so much touch on the golf he could have gone. He could've vacated everything combined all of the strap numbers and built one big cement wall all the way down and he didn't do that at right and that to me was a big sacrifice right. Now what is your opinion on on the one person really to people who are trying to then. There's never going to be built. They're just trying to delay it as long as they can. So that He he makes another extra dollar or they make extra money before he's actually built. I unfortunately I think I think it's a little bit of fear of competition and they they aren't competitors I wasn't I owned a I in nine hundred eighty nine I had a small mom and pop hotel and I my I best friends were like John Rashard and Tom Koehler who both had small hotels and small businesses and and they said. Hey if you'll get up at midnight and check somebody in I most everybody to you and that's really how we became friends. Owen and also so Peter lesage at the north end of the island had hotel and we all would share contacts and and so I think if they looked at did it as another avenue. These people are not going to be in competition. Those People Wanna stay at the Monte Carlo. We'll stay up all night. Those people who WanNa go to Margarita Ville it's a whole different paradise and I think we understand that. Why is he doing not being like you? Were just talking about everybody being good neighbours and good friends. And that's not being a good neighbor in any way I don't know I don't think it's advisers are helping him or his family and I. I wish that they would help him see that. This is good for the island. Just I mean if you just take in what the tax dollars are going to do for us. We should never have other tax ex-high ever we'll don't you think I mean you said everything else was never approved because of if the three men. Don't you think that perhaps the same person was behind it back then as well as time has no stronger different issue and the other thing was that fema came in and made all these different rules so they had to change their whole their whole aspect. They had to raise it. They have to do things and that was just gonNa cost them so much more. They'd already put me. They had everything on the line. And you know there were people who lost everything from trying to get approved approve here which was really sad so I mean I think that. I think Tom's idea is a smart and I think he's got the stability what he does. Stay and do it. I think that it's sad that two people feel that they have to drag things out when it's already been approved it's already been proved that was done legally it's already been proved that was done right so I if it is to me is the core I I understand. You have to have some kind of outlet to appeal these things but it's almost turn that's almost like the courts encouraging instinct to go on. It's like at some point. Can't somebody in the court system. Say this is this is silly. Okay speaking of government. One of the things that I wanted to ask go about was the fine system. You're you have some opinions on what's going on on the beach with the fines. I mean I'm not as involved as you war I've never I've haven't been on a committee and probably talked out at three sides and my face most the time but when I watched one of the meetings and there was a twenty five thousand dollar fine it scene. It's a slow. So what are what are your thoughts on the fine system. One time I sat through. I think there were sixty one finds being before for the magistrate and that day out the top five brought in around three hundred thousand dollars and that made me absolutely sick when a man came in and he said I can't afford to tear my house down. I can't afford to do what you want me to do. So here's my the I went. Oh my gosh what is wrong with this system. I thought this is really really really sad. And unfortunately the people who don't live here all the time don't get it. Oh up in Michigan again. We just walk in and get a you know if we have a fence we can replace offense if we you know if we WANNA pool weaken you know we know what the setbacks are. We just put it in whatever. And that's not true either but they all have a reason for what they do. I one hundred percent against the five hundred dollar a day fee that is punitive damages images and it should not be attached to any new permit which a lot of them come out with that and the problem is if the homeowner or the builder or whoever it is is presenting this if the homeowner was the builder the engineer the architect and the person doing all the Labor then yes they they control the time Oh also book and getting the materials all of those factors have an effect and supply and demand on things. I mean I've heard people get fined because they didn't get their windows in the windows. One available you know and and yes you yourself. Post to come in and tell the town on what's happening and communicate but the problem is is that the town issues the violation they issued the permits issued the fine and there's nobody any in there to mediate except the magistrate and they're already find that point and you don't get off of it until you've done the work and it's been code. Well that can take one of the things that I heard heard that even from council members was that residents aren't even sure sometimes what they need permits for and there's not an easy way for them to find out what they need a permit for. Now I guess you can say if you think you need a permit you should go and ask for. That's that's what I was GONNA put an awning on my. I ended up putting trees up instead for blockage on my deck for the Sun. Protect the wood. But I was looking into an awning I I literally because the person who is GonNa sell the awning told me I did not need a permit. So that's a big problem. You have to. You have a lot of contractors out there that do a lot of work off island and they tell people. They don't need a permit so I went down to town council and they were very very friendly very very helpful. It's very easy to wait a few minutes and get back and see some one of the answer. All your questions and the gentleman was actually you know so informative. He actually called the guy that was going to put up my awning yeah and was given him direction on really. You can't tell people that so the bottom line. I had a deposit They sent me my deposit and I didn't. I didn't get the because they said we don't want to do it for me to you. Can't get people to work on. Fort Myers is. You can't can't get pool companies to come down here. That's for sure because they're afraid of the permitting everything is difficult. It takes too long to get things and you know on on the townside the customer the public doesn't bring in all the information and then they're frustrated. We've been waiting five weeks for offense fence permit. Well did you bring in the survey. Did you bring in the boundary lines did you. You know you have to meet all the criteria and the point is if there was a simple checklist the town could hand out with every permit. And say. We're not gonNA look at this until you have all of these things that would help. It might be something. The two just an idea that retailers can do they can provide kind of you know something to the new homeowner if you want.

"I I there's just no indication that he can stay healthy. Well, I mean, he's still he still playing first of all we don't know when he's going to come back. It could be it could be a month. It could be five months. I don't know what it is. In the meantime, we get to enjoy Alex do go who I think is emerging as a big time star in the in in the grapage acting like those things are mutually exclusive. They could've played them both Pollack and center going last year. But I think what they were what they were looking at is. And sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't didn't work with Brandon McCarthy were they signed an injury likely guide didn't work with Brett Anderson. Mccarthy was a good example of what you were talking about earlier. Sometimes it does work. Brandon Morrow was a tremendous had nothing but injuries for much of his career, and they managed to get a gigantic year out of Brandon Morrow for almost nothing last year. They signed Tom Koehler to be Brandon Morrow he had an injury history. He ended up blowing up. So I think when Andrew Friedman does is he says, I don't want to spend a whole bunch of money on an outfielder. But I'll take a shot on this guy because I see potential, and I'm going to get a good value with that dollar now in this case at least for this year. There's no way to get fair value. Although I think he's got a five million dollar signing bonus. I think and a one million dollars a low number, right? He's not making a lot of money. So I'm gonna throw out his first season because he only played thirty one games, Scott. He's really only had since then he's so so we're we're looking at seven seasons. Right. Okay. He's really only played. Well, he played one year where he you could say he was available all the time. One hundred fifty seven games is one hundred thirty seven games considered a full season for outfielder. Sure that's more than plea when he has twenty five you put hundred three singing, but here's the okay?.

"That conference tournament game where so our schools were in the same conference the America East. Unbc Stony Brook And you're in the lineup against me. We didn't know each other at the time due to some unknown right handed Guy That day in the commerce and now is he still in the Big Leagues Tom Koehler. He is he's had a great career since then He was like the race really packed. The stands with Scalp We'd face him watch over the years and he. I usually got his game because even though I have six plus career college are a plaque when I graduated. They give you someone to send the seniors. You know big photo me and my career stats. I'm like can I get a screwdriver? Scratch those off as year as like six point three. It's terrible my priorities. A Lot. Better than that but But yeah I mean you guys. Had A fantastic team competed really. Well a tough tough squad and I didn't know your freshman time your your freshman starting dot com storming. Yeah that's big deal. Yeah so Stony. Brook came and went. So you played four years or five. They're four and and part of what you were talking about before so two thousand twelve. I hooked up with Evansville but I graduated as an eleven so I graduate. Jonathan Levin obviously hoping and wishing to get drafted didn't happen list every pick of the draft. I didn't know how it worked. You know I I at that time now again. I'm the oldest now my my brothers currently at Stony Brook and he has four years in a pro career of an older brother to look at him. And my dad. And and you know we're all big baseball fans and now us as a family is more educated so when he goes through this process and hopefully he gets a look. You know this May but Anyway when I was doing that and I was listening to the draft. I'd never had any contact with scouts. Ever Know Scout. I feel that a couple of questionnaires but never that personal connection with the scouts. So I thought you heard your name and they would call you day later and say hey you you're going to this place. I didn't know how it worked so it didn't happen. So the summer of two thousand eleven and the fall two thousand eleven to as many open workouts as possible up on the east coast. I tried out for every minor league team. You can think of with a couple of buddies. I would just road trip it. I'd work from home. Do some lessons and then on weekends I would. I would just hop in the car and go in and try to find a place to play and that continued into the winter of two thousand eleven and twelve. I would do all indoor showcases. I you know Red Sox Yankees mets anyone north these located I would just hook up and just show up for these open workouts and hit and do everything I always performed at my best and I was one of the guys there but you know how it works. It's just it's not us there's on the spot and you're you weren't drafted. Why weren't you drafted? There has to be reason I was just behind the eight ball a little bit so that took me so. I didn't sign with Evansville until July. Third Two thousand twelve which was over a year after I graduated so that whole year I was just don't open. Workouts agonizing is just like tormenting myself with hearing the word no after every single one of these things and I made it work but it was. It was a tough road. That year was dark place in my baseball life. So how did it ultimately work like? I'm sure you get you know you've got in front of the right scouts. You're like I know a guy like this guy is good. I'm out for him to call has so basically it all happened within about forty eight hours so Tom Downey is affiliate scout. He also runs a long island. Titans Organization Tons of friend of mine now and he still working there and he's very successful but Tom said we got a a workout at Lakewood in Philly. I think it's their lower high in Jersey so we're from Long Island. He goes getting the current me. I'm working at let's go. I'm taking you there a push up and you'll get your reps and everything like that so I go with them. I get in front of one of their regional scouts. Who's a little higher than Tom and I hit that everything right made ton good place at third bare hand play. That just showed off my skills best I could. I ran the best sixty my life which was six nine five. I'm certainly not a burner so the fact that an NC seven on the sixty for the first time huge so I literally couldn't have had a better workout of course at the end. Tom Says you know what we'll let you know. So dagoes by do not gonNA sign me. this is right after draft. So I'm sure they're signed a lot of those guys anyway but So I was like the press kind of you know I I. I didn't have any direction after that. I said I how. How long can I really do this at some point? You've got to kind of pinch yourself and say look. Maybe she's not for me so as I'm going to bed that night the same night of the workout Thomson's Metex at like midnight and he goes. Listen Man I know you can do at this level I feel for you do me a favor and send an email to every manager and GM in independent ball. You get your hands on so i. I didn't really want to do it. I woke up the next day after sleeping on it. And I'm like I'll give it one more shot him. I'm not getting my car. I'm not trying to offer anymore. I I can't do this. I had a good enough college career. That should be enough. Why am I going to try out so I sent an email to everyone in the frontier league? Every single team and I didn't know about the frontier is not was not being from Long Island. I went to Long Island Ducks Games but I knew they were professional but again now obviously way more educated but so I sent an email to everybody and the only team that got back to me was Evansville and got a call the next day after that so I go to Lakewood workout. Forget what day. It was The next day I send the email the day after that I get a call. I forget the guy's name on a few remember him from he was like The baseball ops guy was a big big brands on. It wasn't him it was the wasn't Andy Wasn't fix. It was a guy I can't believe I forget his name but he called me and he was the one that set me up and and everything like that but he called me and left me voice calm right back yours. Hey you know our third baseman struggle and we need someone as soon as possible. How quickly get down here? So in the matter of who? Yeah so literally. Twenty four hours later said to my family friends. Pack the bag me and my dad were in the car and we came down but literally in the matter of of probably two or three days. I went from really given my last shot. I went to my last open workout. I. I heard that I was just good enough not to make enough where I was just going to go to work at a regular job and then next thing you know. Evansville called me and kind of the rest is history ended up playing for five years and and all that was in the Frontier League. So I'm extremely grateful to Evansville and end to this league. The Frontier League for giving me an opportunity to play in and you know be able to continue my career because without it knows what I'd be doing my whole life would be different. Yeah it's it's that's an awesome story. I mean people realize how hard it is to be like just coasting out there alone. I don't have a place to play like. I stopped being a college baseball player a year ago and I still like. I'M GONNA pro baseball but it's like more you're not like how does that path end because we both did the same thing I I graduated with. Tommy John Surgery so I had to go all the way through. Watch my senior season go and then I went through all through the summer. Wasn't ready to play. And then just like I networked my way and had a spring training. Invite the same way but it is like what happens. And when is this going to resolve itself like is this for me and think everyone deals with that whether it's in business or something else where it's like? When do I quit right? Do I give up? When how many signs do I need before like this lady said? This isn't just for me. It's hard to know and as a player having friends. I'm sure you've had teammates friends that are in the same boat. You WanNa do it so bad and and Mike I know he. He mentioned this to you. I think in your episode with Mike Pinto. He has a great way of looking at it. When when you get released from whether you get released at pro ball whether you get cut college or high school whatever. Someone is eventually going to tell you no. You can't do it anymore. And your whole life you go through your whole life and you identify. I certainly did since I was four. If someone says who are you? You're a baseball player. And then when that when that day comes where you're not anymore you just lose it. It's a dark place you you lose your sense of identity and I'd certainly went through that for quite a long time and and for me. It was interesting because I went from playing at a high level competing at Stony Brook at the division level to boom. Now that's overall case training. I'm getting anybody I can hit me. Ground balls on doing t work on getting flips from anybody can for a whole year so I'm not super sharp game ready then. Evansville calls forty dollars from the car. Boom boom boom in front of four thousand people at Bosse field playing in. Never forget the first. I forget who pitched that game might have been you. I've no idea the JOE on their forget. Today was five ten. It was yeah it was it was July third was day before fourth of July And it was regular nine and gaming in Schaumburg in the first guy forget. His name is a little lefty and he squibb I play. I'm staying at home team and I forget what pitch the bat but the first play was a slower older me come in glove. Transfer throw got the out her little buzz in the crown of my holy cow. Like I can do this. You know and it Kinda. Econ you kind of get that that you know that reassurance that okay. I'm I'm not here you know from luck or I'm not here you know. It was a long road to get here but now that I m here made that I play my first at bat in Little Infield hit stand on first so it's like the absolute elephant piano off your back after this so it was pretty cool. Yeah I made my debut there as well and that was my first pitch since college since the game against only rook and I remember standing there on. That mound is pitching for normal against Evansville. But it'll still say ballpark. And my host families in the stands. My Mom and dad are in the stands and I was like my big fear is a pitcher was always that I was gonNA walk everybody because when was a sophomore in college when they finally like. I was the worst pitcher on. The team is a freshman. My Sophomore Year. I was throwing harder. I was better. I was like the number of the four slash five or five six on the cost to be like maybe the last weekend guy or whatever and so I was getting a piggyback start at the College of William and Mary and our number one pitched the first half the game that I came in the rocky first Entrance into that game and then the next thing. It was just like walk. Hit Walking House Yanked and after that I guess that's where it started I just was always my always pre-game fear was what if I go out there and it's walk walk walk. Yank right and I was out there in that same ballpark in ball. Seafield like all those people because it was like the second day the season so then they get there and it's like what's going to happen and then it just like you said it just takes over my first pitch was a strike right down the middle it was like right and then of course my second pitch the guidelines. But you know and it's interesting too because like people don't there's so many deep deep things and by no means or any of them excuse for baseball player but you played your career in BC. You're comfortable there you. You play at different ballparks. In the America East you pitched at Stony Brook all these different places. So when both of us now you you go you make your first start. I make my first appearance as a player at Bosse field. Your sites different. It's different when there's more people there. It's different when the distance between home plate and the backstop is a little bit more little less the dugouts. It's just different. You're the division of the game and what you see is different and people don't really take that into account of course it at sixty feet six inches. It's nine hundred feet bases grass and dirt. It's the same game..

"Right it's all about let's get twenty seven outs really doesn't matter who gets them during the regular season i still think it's a hundred sixty two games on you can't play that push button bullpen game day after day after day 'cause you will wear out your relievers that's the other thing the dodgers relievers got really really burnt last year during the postseason especially because a game three when richaud came out early and they they went to my and they went to kenley and kenley all the sudden became kinda hit able so you don't wanna hang your bullpen out to dry so you do need you dean do need some starting pitching this year with the dodgers i think one of the interesting by the way i should mention joe davis voice of dodgers will be with us at the bottom of the hour so we'll get some perspective from him oh i'm sorry to thirty today joe davis but i think if you if you look at the way the dodgers are structured they hoped that maybe tom koehler could be this year's brandon morrow well now he's gone till the middle of the season now they're hoping scott alexander or jt shark wa can settle into that role that eighth inning role that bridge guy is a really really tough job to fill it's hard to find a guy that is reliable day after day that's why like for example today the cardinal signed greg holland one year fourteen million dollars for a guy who had thirty plus saves last year in my in my head i was like man if the dodgers signed greg holland and they could go holland to kenley jansen that bullpen is like automatic but they're at that one ninety seven salary cap and they're not they're really not gonna go over it but but i think that both the bullpen of major league baseball is real and it's happening in you'll see the occasional bullpen game but i don't think we're yet at the point where you're not going to need starting pitchers who's the biggest star in baseball right now is it trout because he's kind of a reluctant still he's not the biggest star in baseball harper.

"Steve mason jones arken georgia nosy what do you make of alford sticking it ucla potentially well i mean it's a it's a big buyout dan guerrero has has screwed this up it's almost like you're doubling down on bad at this point you know it's clear the guy's never been past the sweet sixteen in his entire career the guys i work with like john and greg they wanted him fired three years ago the fan base is incredibly frustrated but i think after buying out tim mora they can't afford to figure out a way to buy out steve alford true because he's got a big buyout number and so they're just kind of kind of stock and you know everybody's waiting to see lamelo ball well that's not gonna happen now i mean i think there's i just think they don't have the the ability to buy out offered after having just done it with chip kelly you know nobody i on the station follows the dodgers as close as you do and mostly that's because you're the actual person here that actually can watch them on television as i can see him on tv right so we're we're getting closer only a couple of weeks away from opening night what do you think could be the biggest issue for them coming up this season i think it's fan you know they signed tom koehler to be sort of this year's brandon morrow and he immediately went out and and was injured it's not a longterm injury should be back by june one but even then you know he's a converted starter who knows who knows exactly how he's going to settle into that brandon morrow role so i think you know andrew friedman i've heard say multiple times bullpens are what keeps them up at night and they've got a good solid rotation with kershaw hill and would and rio and my ada but that bullpen is going to be filled with question marks the thing that i'm excited about is in terms of everyday lineup logan foresight seven a really really big spring he looks like he could have a bounceback year cory seager only getting better now going into sports year bellinger just scratched the surface last year you know jt super solid and that camp is gonna wind up being a bonus i.
