"Go rearrange See stonestreet instagram out. Like farewelled boys sh- fisher and schwartz all that that leaves a mark on our buddy eric stonestreet. He's he's the modern family star Ease he's an offensive line. Guy he's a proponent for the big edge there there you know so that's again i didn't make that piece right there but my favorite thing is when he said that when i said goodbye mitchell schwartz. They called him a member of the tribe and stunt goes chiefs. And i'm like not that tribe tribe. Think this book was Was published before mitchell schwartz took the field before jeff schwartz but autographed they to rare. It is that's jeff schwartz is autograph right there in the star two bregman number two of the houston astros. Pregnant would be volume. David definitely needs an update who would be in volume back here on the rich eisen show eight four four zero four rich number two. We'll take your phone calls at the end of this hour. Tom brady sent out a Put out a tweet in an instagram. Right about sahni's contract. Yeah he did there. It is in pursuit of eight. Lfg we're going to keep the brand together and here to tell us what lfg stands for is none other than tom. Current nbc. sports boston right tom. You heard to tell us but stands for that was a spin curve zone and you hit it out. Well done tom. how're you doing. I mean volume three. I know i'm already on that. I'm already on it. So so if i told you a year ago when juan whereas tom going he's not only going to be a buccaneer but he's going to win a championship in his first year. The buccaneers easy going to sign a contract extension to to make it more cap friendly moment for his team and and be a quarterback at age. Forty five you would have said what tom you to believe right. I would've said i know i had. I had them thirteen and three and winning the super bowl this year and that was before the season began just he was too good now honestly. We're seeing the reasons that tom brady. Didn't look like a player on the rise. Born out in the last eighteen months here in new england You know cam newton's coming back. Why cam newton coming back. It's coming back because the patriots say it wasn't his fault. It wasn't on him. it was beyond camps control. We haven't done a great job surrounding this any quarterback with good enough players. So we're gonna do a better job of cam come on back. We'll do better this year. And that's what brady was working with. So i still knew had skill to do what he's doing as for. I mean i really thought forty three was going to be it for forty three has come and gone and there is no sinus down so as far as brady goes same as it ever was so before we move onto cam We were discussing yesterday. Just kind of having fun. Brady it out In the answer is obviously yes but the question. I posed that dizzy. Figured it out by not going for the deck deal insisting on the mahomes deal or watson deal or golf deal or went deal and taking less and and and winning that way and now here he is extending. He's he's not taking lessons but he's not asking for more as a matter of fact he's reconfiguring so the other guys can be gotten in the fold did brady ever at any point in time. Sit there and think. I demand that deal and then think twice about her or the patriots said no and then he had to go in this direction. Can you walk me through this whole scenario of brady doing this year in and year out. Tom sure in in twenty ten he wanted to be paid top of markets. And he eventually was. I think it was six and sixty. I might be wrong but it was. It was a lot and put him at the top of the market. Any stayed there and then in twenty thirteen. That's when kraft said we wanted to come up with an elegant solution to palms contract so that we could reconfigure it so that's when brady began taking less and agreed to an extension to cook them to seventeen Through seventeen eighteen and nineteen those extensions. So that's some brady started. Say okay if you're not gonna if you wanna go year to year with me you don't wanna give me a shirt that i'm gonna be here long term you wanna play footsie with jimmy garoppolo while also keeping me appeased in on on the string. Then i'm gonna wanna be paid more and that's when he started to ask for a little bit more but during the two thousand thirteen to two thousand eighteen span especially after they brought in garoppolo. He's like i'll play ball for us to make sure i stay in new england. So what he's doing right now in tampa is basically what he did do in new england in the arts and also in the middle of this past decade and i think it's really just a. He felt that was a good faith negotiation. And i know specifically and you can. You've read about it. He didn't feel that. The patriots were nestled negotiating in. Good faith with him from two thousand eighteen on tom kearney. Nbc sports. boston patriots insider here on the rich. Eisen show so then. What do you think the ballot check. Philosophy is going to be at quarterback since. Obviously there's only as my buddy brick. Chris brockman said earlier on a one of one. There's only one. Subset of of tb twelve where you know when he does get paid top of market your point of time in in in the nfl. Food chain if you will and twenty ten before the new collective bargaining agreement. Where six sixty if that's in fact right around the neighborhood that that's that's one and a half years of of dak prescott current four year deal that he just made. What is their philosophy going to be. Just go and draft one while cam hopefully continues to win or hope at cam. Is that guy like what do you think their philosophy is going to be to try and build this thing back for new england tom. I think you've heard before people say sometimes not making a decision is making a decision. And the cam newton thing. That's a placeholder that's a. Cya move in case nobody else shakes loose. At least we had in twice in early march so that we could say when free agency began. Yes we have a player named cam. Newton didn't look great last year. But you're going to be part of the reason. He looks better this year but as to what would happen. Because it is a reasonable contract especially when you pro rated over two years. Say he makes nine million over two years if he does become starter here. It's very reasonable for for cam..

Chris brockman jeff schwartz mitchell schwartz nine million thirteen David new england jimmy garoppolo tom kearney Tom last year yesterday juan early march twice garoppolo Tom brady Forty five seventeen twenty ten

"Member fdic when the survivors of a mass shooting at a newspaper went back to work. Everything was different even email. What if someone sending us more death threats or what if somebody sends me a death threat and i don't see it and then somebody comes and kills all my friends and it's my folks didn't reading email. That's this week on the capital gazette series from npr's embedded part one a group of djelic troublemakers. Since the beginning of this nation. We have attempted to make a moral and psychological analysis of prejudice the economic and social degradation to which it has laid. And i'm afraid we are still doing so you can now need. If you don't keep you separate you got to kick your white in the back in the early nineteen sixties. The civil rights movement was heating up. Sins boycotts and marches were consuming cities across the south a movement that was beginning to spread to northern cities. Too seeing this a man named a phillip randolph hey who was at the forefront of the civil rights movement called the meeting with a few people. He trusted my name. Is norman hill. Norman hill then. The national program director of the congress of racial equality was one of them myself by rustam. Tom kearney was executive. Director your little league for industrial democracy. Norman and tom con were young and relatively new to the activism scene but buyers and randolph had been working together for a long time planning marches and speaking across the country. randolph said. it's time to march again for decades. He'd been dreaming of putting together a big march massive march director torn on the nation's capital. I talk to a march for jobs wrapped people a phillip randolph came up in the labor movement of the early nineteen hundreds reading marks and calling himself a socialist. He firmly believed that a decent well paying job would lead to social and political freedom especially for black people thing is the time never seemed quite right for that kind of a march with division titles but now in the early nineteen sixties with the country's attention fixed on the civil rights movement might be the perfect time and he knew the men. He called together shared his vision randolph city. Tom biden by myself. Come back to me with a plan for.

"You can't escape the draft. And that's where you're supposed to go shopping for your artillery and if you're in the flatware i'll rich and you're coming home with spoons. You're gonna end up having a fight with spoons and that's really what has happened. Especially in the offensive side of the ball really about two thousand fourteen. They just haven't done well in the draft and you have to eventually the cost and win the patriots. Ignore the tight end position in the draft. And don't acquire anyone through free agency here with two rookies. Who are panicked buys in the twenty twenties raft can't practice with the team because of a pandemic and neither is relevant so you're basically taking the field without a tight end and asking a guy who you signed at the end of june to make. Do i mean the patriots in two thousand and seventeen traded jimmy garoppolo on halloween. Then what they do with the quarterback position they held the door open for tom brady and tap their foot until he finally walked through it and they signed drafted vinnie upping and jarrett stidham. So what's on the field right now. And i know that. Bill belichick who i've covered for his entire period of time in new england. Maybe not just the greatest coach of the super bowl or nfl history. You might be the greatest coach in american professional sports history. Be that as it may have thought the team very well and that's why they're running around the spoon. So what's the fix here. Because i mean you know we're we're we. We should assume that you know. Think ho- hopefully thanks to the gods that this vaccine is going to do what we all hope and it will go on as many arms as we all hope and it will actually and this pandemic and thus twenty twenty one will be as close to normal football season is we can remember that some of the players that opted out will be in an won't have such diminishing returns after sitting out for a year and then would You gotta find a new quarterback and then what like what's the fix year. Four new england as they move into twenty twenty one and into the final several years of the brilliant coaching career of bill. Belichick what do you think tom. Glass half full. You have about sixty million dollars worth of cap space available which is third or fourth depending upon. Who's doing the bookkeeping highest in the nfl. We'll see what the cap ends up being. But the patriots a well primed do some good shopping if they can get the right guys. The right spots glass half empty. Not only do you have to draft well and address the quarterback position when you might probably be around fifteen or you know anywhere between ten and sixteen in the draft. You have to hit that spot. You also have guys like james white jason mccourty and lawrence guy in adam butler david andrews. Joe tuni all coming up on contracts as well so that sixty million dollars that you're looking at is in your hot little hand ready to shop. The free agents this key key players on the team who may not be back never mind patrick chung and don't they hightower both took this year off because of covid marcus cannon They might just be getting warmed up and what we've seen this year. You know this quote as well as anybody was said about don shoe or bear bryant but it was said he can take his urine and he can take urine and beat his and bill belichick and still do that and he's done that this year. You know if you look at last week against san diego forty five. Nothing pretty talented team. That could absolutely depends because the patriots on special teams defense and with a game plan they could execute on offense killed them. But when you get in against a more talented team. That's well coached and has a plan like we saw last night. You're going to be in for it because the team is not that over the top talented. Okay so I guess as we begin to wrap this up tom kearney. Nbc sports boston. I i think this has a feel of a week. Fourteen postmortem on a patriots season. Which is very strange to me i. I don't believe i've ever done this. Because the last time they had seven losses was the year before. Nfl network began. I don't think i've ever done something like this and It's weird. I'm gonna live. It's just weird right now. Yeah it's new to me too. I mean i thought that they would go eight and eight and miss the playoffs And that was after. They acquired kim. But it is weird because the tenor of bill was communicating with somebody on twitter Dm me about. I said well. Bill is basically saying to fans. You don't like it in media tough crap. I give you a lot of fun enjoyment for the last twenty years. Not that great right now. But i'm trying to fix that. Just shut up and wait for the entertainment out. Provided when i can so sit there like i mean he said this morning. I'm not going to answer the question again about quarterback He is taken on a roll of answer to you. People which i get i do and do you get that. I mean to a degree of the mind rich. You know pretty. Well no doubt and i i mean i got to sit next to him for for two days and here the way that he thinks and and all of that you know but i would never presume to ever think the you know that i know exactly. What's in his mind. But i do know his level of pride. And i do know that he's been around the block and he's he could probably sit here and recall the time this happened in one thousand nine eight or you know what he read about. Nineteen fifty four and how this worked here and that work there. And i'll get it fixed in this way but you're right like at some point though it's gotta be decay. Metcalf not nicole harry. It's gotta be nick saban not sony michelle. Although that might not be very fair sony michelle and the super bowl year was dynamite. In that postseason he was a difference maker in many different ways. When when when i mean they're area and he'd acknowledged that and that ragweed present you with okay. So you know we. Through a screen to damian harris narran. Donald grabbed him. And it's an anticipatory screen to return for a pick. Six made seventeen nothing and then after that then. We scored seven points. What do you want from us bad. We do well. Okay.

"It's just like what William was able to do in terms of setting up his teammates and just always finding guys in the right spots he could have easily had three four system this game he just you know. It doesn't always work out that way and he was just almost perfect with his passes. You Completed William, of course, completed ninety, six percent of his twenty six passes. It's nothing crazy but running for. Ninety, six percent when you had when he had his chances he took. Advantage of them and that's all you can ask for. Of course, you can't really take too much out of this I know full again are going to be a relegation team this year at least battling relegation for free for most of the season her for all of this season I should say, so you can't really take too much out of this arsenal win but they did win three Oh when you take on a team like this you know if if you were win one Oh, two one than okay it's not too but to win three Oh, that's convincingly and it shows that you are obviously a much better team Fulham you know we're just completely outmatched in this game and that's what you want to see if you are an arsenal fan. but I do believe that if arsenal art to take it to that next level, they do need to get their top signing from last season and back. Into the squad and and you know I know he disappointed big time last year probably one of. Biggest? Disappointment. Last season. But. They need they need him in the squad. You can't have that that much money on your bench and new barely play him I. Think he only twenty minutes last season I mean twenty minutes the in this game and you just need to see more from that and that's why I feel like you can move. Out You move into the to the striker position you have pain the left wing and willing on the right wing, and that's that's a blistering front three. I'm talking about the amount of pace you got there. The amount of you know creative ability I, feel would just be really tough to match from any other team. For Fulham I did see some like there was barely anything I could see that I was good in the game but defensive midfielders Tom Kearney and Harrison read they. They played solid. They had some good Games. You know they just just Fulham in the end they just didn't have enough quality up ahead like in the front three to really get anything going. You know it just it it just was not enough but all in all this is a dream start for arsenal at like I said defeating liberal defeating Liverpool in the Community Shield and then making quick work of Fulham it. It's it's it's a great start but it will be interesting to see how they play against some of the bigger clubs. In the Premier League. because. Honestly not now, teams rarely take the community shield seriously I'm talking about like like really show their their full complement of of of whatever they're planning for the season so. We gotta wait and see what happens there. Next we have the game that I was talking about in the Premier League preview Liverpool versus Leeds United and my God this game show up like this game. Really really impressed me at Leeds United you know just barely barely losing to Liverpool four to three, and they felt like every time Liverpool came with an answer which you know people expected. You know the they took the lead and but lead June I'm just came right back with the goal of their own. And I I was watching this game and I was hearing be commentators talking like. What They were they were surprised. They were extremely surprised that that leads United Roxie going toe to toe with this giant with this premier league giant and I mean, so it was i. I I mean and Liverpool, have their full force of star players. They had money for me. No Sahlin of up upfront that that same front three they had Kita Henderson. Why now them in the midfield and of course that that deadly back line of Robertson Alexander Arnold in Van dyken Gomez ahead of Allison so I mean there's literally no reason why Liverpool shouldn't have. Run Away with this game I mean, obviously, it's still good that they. They wanted me it shows the resiliency is champions but. They needed to penalties from Salah to get through and it's not that they were like questionable penalties i. mean they were clear penalties lead united. On the first one, you know the defender have their hand had his hand like his body. So I mean that that was a clear one and then the last one though it's like Oh, my God rodrigue. Oh, you doing. What are you doing? The the the the record signing for Leeds United comes through and absolutely ruins the game for them. He comes off as he comes in as a substitute and gives a lazy foul at the end on why now them in the box in the eighty seventh minute like come on you just can't do that. You just can't do that I mean. I don't I. Don't care if you felt like you had it you if he scores the goal. He scores the goal you don't go and put out your leg like that and let the referee make call at the end of the game you just can't. I don't know that just disappointed me big time because I feel really good about leads heading into especially now with the way they played against Liverpool. I feel really good about Leeds United heading into the season and there's talks that they can get even more quality into this side. You know whatever it's fine. I mean in the end Rodrigo and he made a mistake he's GonNa learn from me still going to be probably you know liberal Leeds United. One of the best players or one of their key players for the season but God what a terrible weight and that game. I mean. Sala. Sala. Was Beast was a I mean he he he he as always creating things nonstop for for Liverpool seven successful dribbles through a hat trick of goals completed eighty percent of forty six passes. I, mean this man was doing it all for them. And I mean you got some some? some creativity from Sony as well, and you know obviously GonNa have a great season. But.

"So when we last were discussing, we were kind of getting out of the Aba and what I'd really love to be able to do is get a sense of. How you moved or considered going from the ABA and getting that off the ground to an entirely new endeavor with pro hockey what was going through your mind? Well when we? Were in Miami. I owners, Tom Kearney who the banker. Wanted to sell the team. and. This is the Miami Floridians of the added, correct. Okay. Got It. And he wanted to sell the team. So guy from New York by the name of Ned Doyle. bought. The team. From. Time. And so when he bought the team Tom. He had his own people, of course. And so I decided to get with my family to go back to California. So we're in. California. and. All of a sudden decides came to me you know. Well. We we made basketball happened. So maybe we can do it in hockey 'cause I didn't know too much about hockey. So. I. Had a good friend who well Russell not who would turn not to be a good friend. He he suggested that you know maybe we get a hold of one of his friends who lived in Canada. and. So we did and the guy was named Bill Hunter. They to win T. or build one hundred. and Bill us to go to palm springs off and. So that's where he met restaurant. So he said. Oh sure. Let me talk to this Guy Murphy. So. Set up a meeting for. ME. and. And Bill Hunter. And Hunter was very active in in hockey in Canada. especially with the Edmonton team. So. We've got talking and he. Had A couple of other friends one by the name of Ben Hanson from. From Winnipeg and then one by Scotty Munro from Calgary. So we invited him to come down to California. I got together with my. Partners Jerry and. In and Don Reagan. And they said Yeah let's have them come down to California. So they can California's see them. And we We took him to a hockey game. And they loved it and when you talked hockey and. and Bill said I think I mentioned it and working with you guys. So he started working with us and we got the thing go on and. And I started traveling. Meeting a lot of people in the United States and Canada. When you got going again. And that's how all star. Yes. So all of a sudden you're becoming you couldn't quite the reputation I guess with your now second league but tobacco up for a second. You mentioned obviously, Don Regan but to other people that for audience just to clarify one, the Gary is Garry Davidson, of course, your. Partner in crime on the Aba and other things to come and the Jerry is who is the Jerry I think I know but maybe you can tell our audience who this jerry character is. Oh I did I jerry. I mean Russell. Not Did I mention him Oh God it? Okay. I thought you were referring to Jerry Sacristan who? John Kerry staffer turn out as as you realize. More and more as we go along, he turned out to be wearing Liberia friends matter. Of fact, we talk every week so. He's a very, very good friend of mine and he's in Florida now. Yeah. We'll I guess we'll get the Jerry I in the later endeavors but he was not part of the the W.. H. Egg part right. No, he wasn't part of the whol though he was interested in becoming part. I just didn't have a spot for him at that time. Got It. Interesting. Okay. So let me let me ask you this then. So it seems to me that one of the major concepts around the idea of going after the NHL with the new hockey league was this reserve clauses that is that a correct assessment that that you felt. Like that is a collective sentiment and Don Reagan wonderful wonderful job. In vetting to the courts and and we won, we won the battle with the national hockey me. Did you think that was solely that was that was the major reason why perhaps w ha could be successful because you knew your groups estimation. That we know that people have asked me that. Question. I always pulled in my mind. Was Only sixteen in the national, hockey. And you know there's a lot of interest in hockey so. It was a lot of cities that WANNA teams so it wasn't. Really wasn't that hard to put together. So why that's so that's an interesting point, right? The the lack if you will, this is circa late nineteen sixties right? I think a lot of people don't remember or understand that there were only six teams in the NHL up until. Extension the sixty nine. So. Why do you think? As you were putting all this together. Why do you think the NHL was? So shall we say behind in terms of understanding an expanding by? Their teams were making pretty good money and. And they were very happy with their progress and as was was and so they. They pretty well confined that to themselves. You know that area. Yeary of you know keeping it small and. and. Expanding at that particular time. Were there any particular markets that you immediately your group immediately thought would be natural and perfect for Chicago was one of them even though the blackhawks were there. Oh. Yeah. The blackhawks were very successful because their success we thought we we be able to. Succeed and we you know we we did because one guy. And that guy was course bobby all. But. We'll get to haul in a second but I I guess what I'm really trying to get into here is how you thought the markets, how you thought through the markets, right? Because something like Los Angeles, Chicago New, York, right those were all established new shell right cities. But then there was also this these other cities that didn't have hockey. So it seemed like you were trying to satisfy both right markets that were big that could support another team as well as brand new markets that would love to have had professional hockey. Well one of the biggest problems we had okay I blame myself for this. Is I. You know expansion.

"I have all condemned in the strongest terms and my part of the country the police chief in Morrisville and stow and the Sheriff Loyal County Roger Mark who have all at issued a joint statement condemning this at. Saying this is no way to run a police department. This is no way to behave and you know when when things reached that level when the professionals in the field of endemic police action in Minneapolis gotta say Gee. You know. It's certainly got their attention. And so I. I was just going to say I. I I think I think there's really crucial reason. It's gotten the attention of of police leaders. You know many many of whom are thoughtful people. They have a lot of integrity. They WanNa do the right thing they want their. People their leading. You know they're. They're off line officers out there doing the right thing because they understand that that Policing not an easy thing, and it's it's a part of society that is You know some some people regarded as a necessary evil. Other people just say it's you know it's part of. It's sort of weird. Society has to get tough with itself sometimes. Okay, so it. It's not going to be an easy thing, but then, but then you have to do it right, and you have to be seen doing it right. I think that's they're they're they're? They're really crucial. What's what's at stake for a lot of for a lot of the FO? The police leaders who have spoken out here is that they want to. They want people to understand that as tough as as it as it is sometimes, it needs to be the they are trying to do. They're trying to behave right and correctly and and and you know something like a George Floyd's. Floyd's murder and Briana Taylor's murder and etc are are singles that singles to people that they are not doing it right, and and that's just it's really I mean he goes beyond bad PR. It goes right to the core of the mission and the core of the relationship between police in our largest society, and now you see you know lots of cities and around the country. Starting to question including Minneapolis. Do, we need a police department we need or do we need a whole different kind of an approach to public safety in which you know, we disband our police departments, or de-fund our police departments, and and and build something else in their place to try to keep people safe I. You know I think there's still a lot of questions about what that would look like, but you know so. This is This is a top to bottom shakeup here. Really, that's happening I'd say when you. Yeah well. Let's take a look. You know These the problems that we have today are different than we had. When the police went. Police departments were formed. you know today the the issues, the police face the diction mental health. People without enough food, that or homeless people. you know all these things are are social issues. They're not really issues of public safety as much as they are society, breaking down and and so you know. I got I learned this from another person. If if you took all the furniture out of your office building and put it in the parking lot. Would you put any of it backward was. because. Thanks. Things have changed right I. Mean Yeah Things. Things are different. You know different technology different job functions from when you when you set up the office until you know, here's an opportunity to change how you do it, so Austin Texas for instance when you call nine one one. they ask you if you want police, fire or mental health. In Eugene Oregon they send a medic and a crisis worker to go on emergency calls. Because so often you know there's there may be physical damage, or there may be you know something that really is the ability of a peace officer to deal effectively with I mean you can't. It's hard to have a police officer was a social worker counselor a therapist. Minister you know. Name the roles. They're all wrapped up want. It it really is a I mean I I don't think. It's not a job for everybody, but actually let me ask you about that because there's this reputation out there, and maybe you know to some degree deserve that police departments in historically have attracted people who who did have an authoritarian streak or did did feel like they could. They could be in a role of of basically going out and and using force on people, because they're big and strong or something, and and. and now there's. You know people are starting to pause about that and say you know maybe maybe that that idea of just you know route brute force power. Sometimes violence in it'd be half of the of the state of the city, or whatever it is really not the right, even attitudinal approach What do you think about the about that as a? As a feature here, or is it a bug, or is it something? That is to present needs to needs to be? Reduced. Cops for almost fifty years, there are most police officers. Very solid. Some are not. And it's pretty clear that some are not but to get rid of them as the next to impossible. You know a lot of police. Officers of police forces are unionized and so they. have to go through the shop steward to get a police officer and deal with discipline and and problems The The There's the. Police also need to be part of a community that they police. they cannot be apart from it. That has happened. There's a division now. This sort of a fortress mentality, a lot of police departments that they are in the forward, and they're defending you know. Society from. What what is going on, but the society is their community. You, know and you can't. You can't have an against them kind of mentality and the effective as a police officer as police force in the long run. Can Win. The battle right now today with as you drive the protesters off the streets and banged now. But the, but but you're. Not GonNa win. You know. People. People will put up with that. So you know, the I think we need better hiring practices. We need better recruiting. We need better understanding of what police officers role should be. We need to get the police some help on areas where they are not strong and and you know. Make it possible to deal with the problems effectively, probably than just force. And you know they're. Thinking about this the New York City's police budget is six billion dollars. Los Angeles police budget two billion dollars a year. How could you use that? Money took all the furniture out of the building. Put it. differently. It's A. It's a really It's a it's a really good question and actually that metaphor. Find. Just kind of interesting and maybe applicable, even more broadly than to issues of of the. Police, and and I'll just have a few minutes to go here Tom Kearney, of the stoudt reporter and and I wanna I wanna try to use that same metaphor for. Some what we were hearing out there about the corona virus outbreak the accompanying. Economic crash which has occurred. You know I..

We're just we just WANNA just WanNa just WanNa just Kinda say right here where he can. We hand the ball off marshawn Lynch at okay. Yes we're going to head off Marschall. Okay we'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA turn around and hand hence the plan giving you everybody out there. Were giving you the the idea that we're what play? We're going to run so that's hope. Hope that announcement is where it's coming and you can still get our podcast on podcast every single day. My my man Norm Patasse. Who ANY LAKER fan knows? It's out there with his rolled up program from his beautiful front row seat. Beautiful Wife Right next to him and podcast one is. We can get our podcast every single day and there's lots of fun to be cooked up there too but for the moment just today just today. It's just us in the wormhole four four. Just the four five star spread the word. Let's do just the just the many of us not just the two of US imagined many of that does for a day. Meaning we don't have any commercial breaks today. Oh really yeah dude I mean I mean that's a good point I was thinking about. We don't literally so we're not going to be on for three hours today. We're just going to be on for two that I have my own segment a way to bring this up. No WELL EARN. Maybe tomorrow okay. Yeah I mean sure okay I would`ve. Let's put it this way. I would have done it giving you your own segment at Tom. Brady not called into Howard Stern show for two hours. Nine minutes today true. Okay I mean Cash Ladies and Gentlemen Ladies and gentlemen the latest proof as if we all need it nobody needs. Nobody needs it. The latest proof that Howard Stern truly is the king of all media. He's been trying to get Tom Brady for twenty years on his program and Tom has declined. Steadfastly refused let's be honest coach. Probably didn't WANNA donor. And so now as we all know those those I guess guard rails have been removed and so Tom Brady gives the exclusive. He had spoken in a conference call. Conference calls a totally different ball of wax than a one on one interview. Gave the exclusive one on one interview. Perhaps the most important one on one interview of his career. You could say maybe the first one on one interview after all that craziness with the footballs in the air. And the footballs deflating. And all that. We've never seen anything like this. Tom Brady Tom Brady leaving the Patriots at age. Forty two soon to be forty degrees right. This guy gives his exclusive to Howard Stern. And it's the latest example of why Howard Stern is not only one of the greatest interviewers of all time but he has earned the right and he has he's the only person who interviews people for a living where the subject of the interview the interview. He knows. Everything's on table. You're getting asked that everything on the table. There is no place that Howard Stern can't go. You can't say don't go here. Don't go there I mean you can. I'm sure Howard's been told that I'd love to know how that I'm assuming the responses like forget it then yeah we don't want you then but I mean honestly. Go on stern knowing that it's coming. It's it's all on the table. I'll be honest. It's the envy of anybody who interviews people living Tom. Current NBC sports. Boston is going to join US shortly on this program. I'm wondering if Tom Curran. Who's covered Brady for all all this time right the whole time? I'm wondering if Tom if you strung together. The amount of time had one on one with Brady but an equal to our nine minutes. I don't know I don't know Brady on this show before way back in the back in the beginning. I think I'm wondering I'm wondering I'm wondering the Guy who's interviewed Brady. The most has been Jim. Great I'm wondering if Jim Gray if you could string together all of his Westwood one interviews with Tom and just forget about i. Guess the Ted Talks or whatever he's done with him. Yeah just the two hours nine minutes if I said to Brady. Hey Tom look. It's been a long time since you've been on this show Would love to have you on and we were able to secure Tom for the interview yet. Tom I'd like to do two hours and nine minutes with you. You've got that time. Got Fifteen twenty minutes. I got life to do two hours nine minutes. He had him and he asked him everything. All right let's stroll through this best. We can before we get the Tommy Karn first up the magic question. When did you realize it was over? What at what point did you know you were not returning to the New England patriots? I don't think there was a final final decision. You know until it happen but I would say I probably knew before the start of last season that it was my last year. I knew that you know it was just you know. Our time was was coming to an end now. Tom Kearney said over and over and over and over and over again that he almost didn't go to training camp last year over contractual dispute. Sure sounds like it. That is sounds like a guy who's like. He played the entire year last year. Knowing that was done. No-one it was done knowing that was done and he also said at one point about how he was particularly vocal about the wide receiver group Dan Orlovsky of ESPN picked up on that comment about how he was very vocal about the wide receiver group. Not being up to snuff last year and he picked up on that and tweeted out a video of was it Nikiel. How're you ran? A completely wrong went went in on a slant route and he thought he was going to go to the post against the Texans and he threw it to the post and it was twenty yards incomplete as a receiver was running into the middle of the field and Brady would just slack shoulder. Stoff trusted element. Nobody else as pretty obvious Ryan game gave credence to all of that. Now this one. How many times and NFL Game Day morning? Who Means More to the Patriots? Brady Bill Belichick. Who needs the other one more Brady Abella Check Howard? Stern went there. I think it's a pretty argument. Actually that people would say that because again. I can't do his job and he can't do mine right so the fact that you could say what. I be successful without him. The same level of success. I don't believe I would have been but I feel the same in in in mice versus well the to have him allowed me to be the best. I could be so I'm grateful for that and I very much believe that he feels the same about me because we expressed that to each other. It did seem like he still even out. The Gate had to find the words to basically say Bella check. His success would not have been the same without me again. I don't know if searching for the words are just. It's still seemed to me. He couldn't even still go there but then he did then he did a grown ass man with six rings and it's true true definitely true. I can't I can't say enough in this world where you're supposed to take one point of view. I'm supposed to take the other point of view. We're supposed to have a split screen down to metal. I'm supposed to argue with you. You're supposed to argue with me. We're supposed to have some sort of poop. Show television that creates clicks and people. Did you see that today? That's what we're supposed to say. I'm supposed to take Brady. You're supposed to take ballot. Check vice versa is supposed to argue. It's supposed to be that way. But how about this? It's one of the greatest relationships it's ever been had in any sport will never see it again in the NFL. In particular Bella check when he's in New England came in off of. I think it was his last losing season. Going into two thousand and one came in two thousand season. It was a losing year for him and New England in Bledsoe. There is no there there right. Forget Tom was picked. One ninety nine ballot check was the guy who who went to the jets with ourselves. Because of what happened with Cleveland where people thought he was. Nuts forgetting Bernie Kosar. Although he did have the last playoff season there with a win yesterday the Patriots fired Pete Carroll After Nineteen Ninety nine. He was eight. Bill came in in two thousand one five and eleven and Tom Brady strolls in off the field after getting the nod and all of a sudden. The rest is history. How about they both meet each other. How about that?.

"And I know it's been a lot of patience for me and I've been for twenty years. It's been amazing experience. I don't know what the future holds right now. I'm just trying to be patient through this process. My first time going through it and in the meantime I'm going to spend time with my family over the next ten twelve days and we all know vacation plan which I'm looking forward to. Now my question for you is this We haven't heard from Tom. Really speak outside of that enhanced audio from the Syracuse game. Do you believe Tom when he says he doesn't know what the future correct. I do believe in because I'm sure. San Francisco has not fully figured out his entreaty just yet and that's where he wants to try it. I Bet I bet you heard Tom Kearney. And our one Sani anytime. He's mentioned it on the air he about. I think fifty percent he wants to go. It'll be fifty fifty New England in Tennessee right but the forty niners are on the outside gaining stadiums. And he's like people text him saying. Don't don't lose that thread. Keep keep pounding that story. I'm telling you man I'm telling you. Tom Is sitting there thinking. It may be crazy. It may not be possible. But that's what this is all about the art of the possible goat with six rings. Knock on the door of my childhood team and say he wants this. Do you check this box. Do you like me. I like you to you for a long time. Middle School here. When Tom was dreaming of playing for the forty niners he was passing these notes around. Check this box. I like you do you like me. Why not give it a try and again why not you know what a conversation call up the your agent and say that knowing that he also represents James G is that weird. I I the the answer to that question is you know. I. I don't know but you have to think it would be weird. Hear me out. Like obviously don wants the best for both totten before it's already happened but not as high profile as this. I was pretty damn high profile. Last time I think this is easier than last time. Yeah Garoppolo I guess I guess based on all reporting get him. Outta here is easier to say than now. I want his job Ya. Yeah Hey I know you got that big old extension and John Lynch gave you all kinds of love but their trading you back to New England because Tom Wants to point for San Francisco and Jimmy. Jeez like what he's like. You're sure similar. I love Dan a team that they'll get along. Even though there or just goes to Tennessee where he goes to he goes to Las Vegas by the way. May May told me. Mayock told me about their training facility hassle fired. I can't even imagine he's fired ising. He's fired up. He said the training facilities amazing. They're putting a roof second death star on right now. I have no idea on the I. I don't but party at Mike's House In April I'm you're not invited. Wow Do do do your own house. What else you got over another free. Agent quarterback is in his forties drew brees on W. E. E. I this morning. Yes and he was asked what he thinks of. Tom Brady and a situation. I love Tom Brady. "Know that I'm not a group. Grew time non monetary. That's why people the you would have the picket line. But it's the fact that they all are one making bank on it and drew. They fucking decided that they wanted to do it right. We went wherever and captured them to put him in there. There's basically a line line of applying right to get into this show so on behalf of an already waning trade words spearheaded a campaign against a nineteen twenty one Florida statute banning. Their expedition of the malformed deformed disfigured human He was successful three years later. Judges held that. The sideshow prohibition was unconstitutional because quote people with Deviating bodies have the right to work. DOC This right to work was crucial to ward. Who approaches performers matter-of-factly with well-meant pragmatism? So in in contrast to P. T.. Barnum who was really like just profiting off the backs of of his streak Word was really concerned with you. Have the right eight to work. You're going to be respected like let's do this the right way right but at the same right though I feel like Pete's even PT Artem if The the brothers were banking one point. Two million or three hundred thousand nine was like he wasn't fucking either. You know so words. Philosophy was people are going to talk anyway so why not make them pay for the privilege. taught them how to make money and brought them into a makeshift family and many stayed with him all of their lives. SAFE-SPACE SAFE right. Yeah it's awesome the carnival tight-knit network of Solidarity Tom Kearney codes delic this which prescribes unconditional support for one. Another in soon developed a secret. Language Carney remained remained incomprehensible to outsiders. So I don't know if anybody's familiar with like the simpsons episode where Bart and homer essentially become carney into a cheerful. Of course the Carney code. Thank quite make Carney. They were in their language. They were is old yes they were. They were the hands of our young. They weren't Carney's they were carney games. which are yeah although in my mind different? But the International Independent Showman's Association still runs. Its own miniature welfare system providing retirement homes to those in need so those that retired from the sideshows have their own separate kind of retirement system which I think is really good for them. Now is the entrepreneurship of all. It's open to anyone with an idea To anybody who may want to partake in at all it goes back to having freedom of choice and not having to sell your soul to accompany store work nine to five for for a factory and never getting anywhere beyond a minimum of obligatory race. "So again, you can't Bank on that, but the fact that you know he is firmly established and as usually in the mix of things, you know, they're, they're worst ways to kind of go at this price point. That's definitely what I would look at to have my roster. Another guy that is going to be making waves this year. IB surprised if he was a complete bust. I mean eighteen years old. He's gonna move on from Fulham of Edgeley I think. But the Ryan says in your is definitely someone who was all the rates last year and championship got full and promoted. You know, he is. Stiffly I want to keep an eye out on, like I said, he's a six and a half million player, but he has potential to be a young talent deck and do a quite a bit. Now I know they're folks who are going to kind of knock him and say, you can go cheaper with the likes of Tom Kearney. I just think system is just that much better in terms of ceiling wise that I think he's worth taking flyer on at six and a half million. You know, if he doesn't pan out the first couple of weeks of the year, I get it moving off from him, but I definitely him as someone who can break out in a big way of given his age, and you know, with Fulham being squad, that's going to concede goals. They're going to need a score. I just think he's gonna have great opportunity to do so. So that's someone. I would keep an eye out for as a season moves along. Now, in terms of couple of other players, you guys can keep an eye out on also falling in the six tier. You've got check fabric grass and Pedro, you know both on Chelsea. It's gonna be interesting to see how, sorry manages that midfield. I mean, if hazard leaves, that's always. A big question Mark over that team, but you know, the other guy you gotta keep an eye out for is Ross Barkley at six million just because Barclay in feature pretty much at all last year. You know, do I? I'm not a big fan of Ross Barkley, but you know, could he factor in the squad yet? And you know, it really depends on those first couple of weeks. So Chelsea is a situation that I would keep an eye out for the first month or so to seize it because I think you're going to get a sense of how sorry is going to run that team. And once that starting eleven set it, you know, it doesn't like at least from his past the managerial spots, especially in applic- getting really rotate all that much. So I would look at it like once you kind of get a sense of who staying there, you Ray know who's going to kind of be out the door. So fabric paid your or two guys. That should definitely feel like they're on the chopping block. I think Barkley Mike. It a reprieve. So he might be the biggest beneficiary out of all this other guys to take a look at. Eric lamilla at Tottenham wasn't in the World Cup. So given the fact that some also known as Cree messy was heavily involved at the World Cup. You know, he may still be a bit further behind in terms of being raid played to begin the year. Sola melamine add to get some playing time. I'm not your how long that's gonna last. The Wolcott is someone you can take a look at just a because of Marco Silva. I think he gets the best of what's ever left in the tank of his players. So if Wally could stay healthy, you know he can put up goals and budgets. The problem is he can't stay healthy so you gotta ride away from when you can't sell high. As soon as you get the opportunity to. Other folks to kind of keep an eye out for. There's a the yoga Jota at wolves. Definitely someone who put up quite a bit of goals last year in the championship..
