This has to do with the investigation into classified documents found at the Mar-a-Lago resort owned by the former president. There is a shocking development this evening in a murder at a gas station in Silver Spring. Let's get that story now from WTO's Kyle Cooper. Montgomery county police chief Marcus Jones says 31 year old Tori Moore of Silver Spring is under arrest for shooting gas station clerk, ayalu, Juan demo early Thursday. The chief describes more as a problem customer at the gas station and says he got into an argument with Juan dimu, shooting him several times, shockingly Jones says when they arrested more, they found a dead body in his apartment. When S.W.A.T. made entry and after arresting more, they discovered a deceased female. Believed to be an adult on the floor, the woman who more apparently was in a relationship with was about 8 months pregnant and may have been dead for a month, Moore has a criminal record one which should have prevented him from possession of a gun. In Montgomery county, Kyle Cooper, WTO news. A big shake up in the Senate today. Arizona senator kyrsten sinema is leaving the Democratic Party just days after Democrats celebrated a big Senate victory in Georgia. Capitol Hill correspondent Mitchell Miller has the story. I know some people might be a little bit surprised by this, but actually I think it makes a lot of sense. Senator sinema is becoming an independent. A growing number of arizonans and people like me just don't feel like we fit neatly into one party's box or the other. Cinema speaking to CNN, she downplays any impact the change will have on the 51 49 margin Democrats now have in the Senate. After Georgia senator Raphael Warnock's reelection. The Senate already has two other independents who caucus with Democrats. A number of teenagers have overdosed in our region over the past week. Some have even died. This after taking counterfeit versions of the painkiller percocet that contain fentanyl. There have been cases in prince George's county also in Prince William county. Doctor Joshua sharfstein is with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg school of public health. People are not aware of the danger of the products they're taking. They may think they're getting one thing, but fentanyl is so potent and so lethal that it is really an incredible risk to be taking counterfeit pills right now. Doctor sharfstein urges people who suffer from addiction to seek treatment. He also encourages parents to talk to their kids about what's at stake if they take medication from anyone other than a medical professional. As people prepare for holiday gatherings, health officials are expressing some worries about spikes in COVID cases and deaths. The numbers tell the story and it isn't good. COVID cases are up as our COVID related deaths, a nearly 62% spike in deaths nationwide in the past week. And with the holidays coming up, doctor Dan Neff singer in Indiana says we're anticipating that it's still going to get worse rather than we're being at the peak or being on the downhill side of the peak. And to that rising flu cases and RSV and it could be a very difficult next few weeks. Steve otherman CBS News. Health officials in New York City are urging residents to wear masks while indoors and in crowded areas because of these three conditions that affect your respiratory system, officials also say New Yorkers should get tested before and after gatherings and wear a mask around people who are at a higher risk of developing a severe respiratory illness. "At some point that I think they weren't blazing me where we're coming for him. There was a ladder extended near the plane, the pilot wanted to grab his passenger and leave. So I convinced him to stay where they were. It's a dangerous situation that appears to be escalating. Teenagers in the area are getting their hands on counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl. The latest warning comes from Prince William county police in Virginia who've responded to three overdoses involving teenagers over the past week in one of the incidents a 17 year old boy in a manassas died in police believe the overdoses are tied to counterfeit forms of the painkiller percocet that are laced with the extremely dangerous drug fentanyl, a similar warning came out of Maryland last week when prince George's county police said they were dealing with multiple overdoses involving counterfeit pills in particular blue pills with the letter M on them, Nick Allen LA, WTO P news. Loudoun county public schools has a new leader, the county board of education says the school system will be led for now by Daniel Smith. I truly believe that this work is a calling. Throughout my career, I've always focused on keeping our students and their needs at the center of my work and I commit to doing that as your interim superintendent. Smith had been the school system's chief of staff, the move came two days after the board fired superintendent Scott ziegler after a special grand jury report criticized the school system's response to two in school sexual assaults by the same student in 2021. The former Minneapolis police officer who kneeled on George Floyd's back while another officer kneeled on his neck is expected to be sentenced today to three and a half years in prison. Jay Alexander king pleaded guilty in October to charges of aiding and abetting second degree manslaughter. The plea came on the same day jury selection was set to begin in his trial. "Work? I think can we talk about Tom Holland hosting the Oscars? Sure. Just incredible, incredible interview performance by him. He's asked during the interview, would you like toast the Oscars? And she's clearly overwhelmed and lists the 15 things that he can't do. That he has to do and why he couldn't host the Oscars. And then he calls back two minutes later. Surely at the behest of someone who is listening another conversation. And it's like that was so crazy. I just went to the bathroom and looked at the mirror and thought, who says they don't want to host the Oscars? I love to host the Oscars. Let me host the Oscars. Congratulations to that publicist. You did earn your keep that day. And also, let Tom Holland host the Oscars. Sure, why not? I believe it was The New York Times brook Barnes who suggested on Twitter a few weeks ago that if the Oscars were smart, they would throw a brinks truck at Tom Holland and Zendaya to host the show that that was the move to entice young people to care about the Academy Awards. And so I presume that that was what informed Scott's idea to ask him about that. And I don't think that Tom Holland and Zendaya hosting the Oscars like radically improves the ratings for the Oscars, but it does recognize that they need to do something that changes things up significantly. And they should probably put somebody in the center of the frame who really does represent what movies are. And right now, at least in part, Spider-Man is movies. And certainly someone like Zendaya is also movies. She was also a part of dune, so that's even more so the case. And the idea that somebody like her actually, who was in a Netflix movie in 2021, who was about to be on a streaming at a claimed streaming show in 2022 and who is into the two biggest franchises right now going for two major old school studios in Warner Brothers and Sony, that's pretty representative of where things are and where they're going. And so in that respect, I think it would be clever. I also just think obviously they're both Uber talented in a number of different ways. Tom Han has a little bit of a Hugh Jackman. Am I a song and dance man? I kind of could be like the MC of your party in addition to being your Spider-Man thing going on. So and Zendaya has been a star since she was like ten years old, you know? It's like in her bones to know how to be a performer. I guess there is a little bit of concern that you could get into James Franco and Hathaway territory here or if this goes badly, your reputation is greatly damaged. If I had to wager on it, I would wager that they will not be hosting the Academy Awards, but it's fun to talk about. I think that we can't hold the James ray going halfway thing against everyone for the we can hold it against James Franco..

He's a civic treasure, and we cherish it each and every time he sits behind the MIC to college Brewers baseball game. But is there another fan base that appreciates him just as much joining us now from ESPN, 8, 50, w. K and R in Cleveland, he's a host out there he is. Aaron Goldhammer. So Erin the Brewers are in Cleveland tonight, two cities that are forever intertwined because of the major league movie series And because of Bob you cruise role as Harry Doyle. What do you think it is about? You can we obviously know in Milwaukee and then the state of Wisconsin? What makes him so special behind the mic? But what do you think it was about? You can those movies that made him resonate outside of our state lines here in Wisconsin? Well, look, I think he's resonated in Cleveland, because I think it feels like he's actually calling the game in this sort of sarcastic way that embodying how the fans felt about the Indians for so long. But I think it's important for people to remember when that movie came out, Brian that the biggest game that the Indians had ever played in Pedro Cerrano. It hit a home run. And if wild thing Vaughn came out of the bullpen to pitch You know, so fans would cry watching that because in most of their lifetimes the Indians had never really played of meaning. Forget, Um, And so I think it was really this perfect storm of Them having struggled for so long, And then the Indians got good sort of right after the movie came out that you could just sort of became the voice of this exciting new era where the team would be relevant and cool and not the doormat of the American League. I mean, if you're doing a Cleveland sports talk radio show, and you don't play just a bit outside. You know you're not doing it right? And I think that That movie in the organization are synonymous and one of the things everybody talked about Brian when the name change went through, and obviously the team is going to be known as the Guardians moving forward, starting in 2022. Is that that incredible relationship between the movie and the team will feel a little bit more distant because the name is going to be different. And I remember, you know, Game seven of the World Series against the Cubs in 2000 and 16. Everybody wanted Charlie Sheen on the bound to throw out the first pitch. And if Sheen wasn't available, I mean, Yuk would have gotten one of the biggest standing ovations in the history of Cleveland if he had shown up that night on that mountain. It's hard not to draw parallels between the summer you guys had in Cleveland in 2016, and what's going on here in Milwaukee in 2021, with the box winning the championship in the Brewers, seemingly having this season of destiny. What do you remember most about? Not necessarily this summer. I think that's an easy answer from a Cavaliers perspective. But what do you remember about that fall that maybe Milwaukee sports fans can take away from the Cleveland sports experience. Yes, well, the Indians had about seven major injuries going into the playoffs, and what I remember the most is that we had completely written them off. They played the Red Sox in the divisional round. We assumed Boston with sweets. And then the Indians somehow won Game one, and then they want Game two, and then they pulled off a sweep. And you come to realize that the baseball playoffs are about momentum and who's hot, who's lucky at the right time. And that was them through the first, like 2.5 rounds. That's right. You know, they smoked the Blue Jays, the LCS and they got 31 lead on the cuts. We thought they were just going to cruise to a championship and then obviously At the worst time, their their luck ran out, but I remember how unexpected it was. So it was a lesson in just get in and anything happens. Hopefully, we get to hear Bob. You could call the World Series Championship and see if the Brewers can close. The deal. The season hinges on Jalen Hurts. Um, the the offense is again. There's promised there you have some guys, obviously Devante Smith going in the first round. I was gonna be my next question. He's day to day with an injury at the moment, So you expect him to be fine once September rolls around. But after him, it's Zach Ertz and then jail in rigor. And Greg Ward Jr like the receiving corps is not stellar. Dallas got hurt. Shout out to him. He's somebody who wants to get paid like a top 10 tight end like the Cowboys, I'll believe it When I see it. Love Dallas got it, but still And then the defense is aging along the defensive line, but still talented. A secondary that actually looks okay on paper better than okay, but they often go out there and don't perform that way. So They could finish dead last in the NFC East. They could finish third. They could finish this high second. I don't see them winning it, right. I still on paper and probably gonna pick Washington. And even that I don't feel great about because Dallas on paper as well. Looks okay. I just know the Giants aren't winning the division. Right? So I'm going to tell you what the Giants are winning the division. You can never see anybody play up in that position. And, um, you know, grand if he got to go to Oklahoma and rebuild his draft, stock and kind of like, get his reputation back, But there's been that flash there with Jalen hurts.
