com all right our two here late night talk a thrill WCCO all the big story that everybody is still continue to pay attention to and talk about the wall the still stunned still stunned to this day and I think we're gonna be stunned for quite some time the tragic death the Kobe Bryant his daughter and seven others with that helicopter crash on Sunday and joining me now is a guy that on I'm a big fan of and I feel blessed to have them as a friend and somebody that's been a part of my life and we work together all we've done a lot of radio together in years past okay fan and he's a guy that dot I want to play years ago you know in the NBA he played with Michael Jordan played awesome awesome New York Knicks teens and just he's a he's a golfer rate as well and that will be none other than Trent talk who's joining us a courtesy of the centerpoint energy home service plus hotline what's going on double T. well like mad off or you know I like you sponsor to you know so what I like your wallet well the house or what yeah for sure for sure man I I I we love them too we love him too Hey I'll double T. man it's some it's always a blessing to to chat with you and talk all basketball you know it's my favorite sport you play at the highest levels and just to be able to for us to be don't have a back and forth on the radio because you know tomorrow is not promised each and everyone of us and I think that the that a point that point is being driven home even more so in the last couple of days and what happened what transpired kind of take me to your Sunday though because I know you're busy guy you got kids that you deal with the you take the practices all of time itself like that in and you just you have a busy life so cut kind of tell me how your Sunday transpired where you were when you heard the news and just you know how that how that kind of stick out well I was on my way to watch the golfers played against Michigan state and there will be burdened with having his number retired and it was gonna be a special happened nearly we were hoping that the coffers current the note note are continue to play well like they did against Ohio state a few nights before and I was just about to park my car and I got a text message you know from from a good friend of mine Kevin Warren who used to be the former see all over the Minnesota Vikings and he's he's the one that broke the news to me is that not sad news not pull over and park in a stop to read the text and he was the one that had let me know that Kobe Bryant had been killed in helicopter crash all while Kevin Warren who's who's who's the new you know big ten commissioner was was the one that I you know that told you okay right he was the one that broke the starts arena and was like I was like wow I mean you yeah you kind of walk in you know and if they can like you know is this this is resolved all was not was ringing off the hook after that and you know many people called me and asked me at that time is this true you know this somebody playing a joke as Alan thank you bye play a joke of that nature you know without them out that's but there seems to have a plan I say yes it is true and so is there are going to take a long time a lot of people you know trying to overcome yes sold to let's do a little bit deeper into debt to that though here for second because I didn't go to the go for game because I know that there will be Barton who one of my fraternity brothers a member cap out of sight he was being honored in in terms of everything that was going on on Sunday what was it like in terms of like the atmosphere in Williams arena the barn when everybody in the the house knew at some point during the course of that game what occurred I know that we saw like big video footage after the game where Tom Gisele whispers to arm to a star a player catches wasn't and let him know that Kobe Bryant passed away and then you could you can see him verbally saying you know you see castle saying Colby and he's like Bryant and he's like wow why you like before they do the postgame interview so what was the atmosphere like like what was it like amongst the fan base some people talking around you well you know at that time you know you do here are are a small whisper here there you know it was it didn't dominate Incan dominator controls the north the arena because everyone was there to tune the golfers and when when you at a college basketball seven like that even though it's not just the news have broken yeah most of the people there and I have some sort of connection to Kobe Bryant at that time what's the last two games you know they may have thought about it now you know it was it was something that they could hear and read about anything while no this is this is a sad day for sure but at that time you know that the spirit world but the electric twenty golfers and off the fully burdened yeah no question about talking to Trent Tucker here on the S. centerpoint energy home service plus hotline a late night on newstalk eight the real WCCO arm did you ever did not hit me Kobe Bryant our Kobe when I was doing television for the world and when he when he was when he is just first come into the league every time we went out to play the Lakers you know he and I would listen in chat and talk the day before the game the game started and for the one of the few times that I you know what my championship three and he looked at it he says you know with the talker I said now you have to come in a stock com the trick played against your father the things that I know that is that the one of these days I'm gonna I'm gonna get lingerie as a well used if you continue on the path that you own right now you want to have more than one of these rings that's something man that that you know and do one thing on doing those moments before the before the game began you know he he would have a lot of questions about number twenty three he wanted to you want to gather as much information as he could about Michael Jordan because he he he he wants he wants one day he wanted to be and in no in in that class and then in that company he was trying to figure out and at a young age all the things that he needed to do himself in the position yeah that was the guy for him right I like I like my favorite player arm only on in life was doctor Jay but then what Michael Jordan burst onto the scene it was all about Michael Jordan Michael Jordan is is my favorite basketball player on of all time for the most part I feel a certain way about lebron right now like I'm a big time lebron fan but but that was the guy for Colby right it was always Michael Jordan was the guy that he looked to right he wanted to be like Mike and that there is anybody who who was who was close you know to achieve a net that status you know Kobe Bryant put himself in a very very close you for Michael Jordan came into the league to me the greatest basketball player that I had and I had ever seen Magic Johnson in March a grueling Naji in and up and up initially and Michael came once is enough that you know this is a different cat we haven't you know we have a I haven't seen this before and the things he he could do on a nightly basis we we just haven't seen but Kobe Bryant you know understood that yeah if you want to put himself you know in the stratosphere or in that conversation you know the things that Michael was able to do to make himself the best basketball player Kobe Bryant was willing to try to do the same thanks what what what they call me by a special the combination you know his his will and as you know to get better on on on on a daily basis he he he wasn't afraid out of baseball and he knew that he had to make some major sacrifices to have a chance to be in that conversation and when you have ten alike thank you for that you always.

"Blue I'm at sixteen minutes thirty five seconds a night he's yet to play eighteen minutes a night in a single game this year my worry is that because Krueger doesn't use him as much as the other guys that if everybody does get healthy and because it's the rookie and it's the young guy that's a lot of times the easier guy to scratch or sun down by hope that would happen are you worried all the okay how are you would be the guy that they scratch I think when you bring up that minute point it does worry me I think we've seen Krueger handle these younger guys with a little more I guess care member the game with the Montreal it was a game board member calling in play like the last nine minutes yes and he said look right now his experience in terms of playing in these type situations where you know one mistake can change the game we don't want a mop Erica's point or that you can you know he needs more experience and that some wondering if what you said there about Dolly is also kind of a way of how we handle your that you know we're not going to push him too hard right now because he's handling sixty minutes so let's not push it could it be dug twenty maybe there's something in there that'll go wrong I wouldn't mind at some point giving a shot to play a little more to see if you can handle it so far it seems like you've handled every test pretty well so I I I really have very little negative to say about him which is great because that trade so far can mean when I trade was made in the excitement about maybe what could bring I mean it's it's heading correction here a lot faster than maybe I thought it would come yeah for sure all right Brenda so little golf here before before you get out here tiger gets to eighty two wins you got the presidents Cup coming up and there's a little bit of a question about whether he's going to pick himself well first on the on him getting to eighty two wins and it was there any ever any doubt for you but one one was there any more what was the question I want here did you have more doubt that he would get to the to win another major then get to the eighty two were wins I guess initially but for a few years ago before we really thought maybe that health and is back with sideline forever I'll be eighty two seems like more of a slam dunk than the eighteen masters are the are the three major I'm sorry yeah Jack Nicholson's record so that record we always thought he would shatter I mean to think that he said eighty two and I mean need didn't hit it and kill the fifties they did he was in the fifties play more tournaments tiger than somebody like turn meant that your show how dominant band to think I mean hi you're almost lost I mean I had decade might be a stretch but he wanted last major and always been with this major turned twenty nineteen I mean there's probably a solid five to six years in there where he just as we know we because we watched it just could not get healthy just could not get his game back it was a combination of both and I think if he had just maybe not had those injuries may being of course partially maybe not had some of his off the court issues if you just continue to play at the level that he was I mean my goodness he be well over a hundred hopefully internet victory he probably is in the twenties now in terms of major then he went eleven years without winning a major for a guy that does continue to want to continue to win all this does for me what every time he wins especially at his age now with all the surgery that you've gone through and all the things that he's gone through it just it makes me appreciate his record more more because when I watch who I consider now to be the top of the players and tiger's playing like that right now whether it up you know capped a Dustin Johnson just your Justin Thomas these guys that are Justin rose even McElroy having a great black all right actually winning right now it's you the women the world document this week you look at like what their career feet are and then you compare to like here's what tiger was that at the same age here's what hi you're with that through the state never turn it and I mean it's just not you yes nine holes yeah it's like the Gretzky hockey records yeah they're just McElroy's McElroy said that he was asked about the eighty two wins I'll never even come close to that and like that's one of the good young golfers of Philly guiding the a still young but it like that's one of the good young golfers in in the sport right now he's like yeah I have no chance in the world of getting to eighty two wins yeah and I mean Phil Mickelson we know who's probably throughout Tigers career been the second most dominant golfer or the second most well known and watch golf he's his career wins in the forties I mean I these players right now the fields are so good in the still beat because of tiger all these guys now are the ones that watch tiger when he was in his prime you know they were all you'll be motivated to be the next Tiger Woods if you guys get thirty career when that'll probably be an incredible accomplishment and obviously no where near to the Tigers record which is to show just how good he was and seeing him play like he did last week he was such in control of all factors in this game it was a tight course in Japan the course that they played last week a lot of the games that all people might they all with the term Japan he wondered it was a lot of big names in the tournament and it was the first time the PGA tour come back for what now regular tour stop in Japan so they they got a lot of big names there so the widget when and it was a tight course and he was great off the tee he was perfectly desire in the distance and putting he was making up all over the place like the old tiger really really cool to see and as we know golf right now so good with how deep it is but one Tigers involved it just goes to a whole nother level do you do you think he do you think you golf at the present Cup I think he does as long as he's healthy and I you know I don't think he's planning on playing much more in between he is the captain be the first time that a cap that would actually pick themselves Hey yeah which should be how we feel about that by the way like talk Tiger Woods seems like he would be the guy to be the first to do that I think he had I mean he's probably the only one that would have the resume to be able to do it where no one will be like what do you do it you can't pick yourself but I think all the golfers what understand like yeah you should pick yourself you're playing great right now you're in the top six in the world like you should pick yourself the way he's playing right now so and of course not that they would not that sports would ever be persuaded by you know the organization that runs the event or the television but you know this is on NBC it is not that hiding on some little this is on NBC you know the PGA of America is running this event like there I'm sure are going to be pushing tiger to to watch this because the president's Cup it's kind of a fun event in the off season here but if he's playing it suddenly the eyeballs are going to be kind and and you know obviously that brings in more you are the more money so I'm sure they'll be excited there's been a player that he could pick from the captain's choices Mahler being now would lane Kerzner now there's some players right now they're playing very well and I mean you could name forever usually that he could take to play the international team but I don't see the only way because you're not taking selfies if he doesn't get healthy right now it's game is there and I think he would have the players backing for him to pick himself that would be a weird scenario to pick yourself but I think it'll happen all right I Brian thanks we'll look for hearing from you and pre in tonight okay thank you thanks there's Branko's you on the west her hot line targets in hockey and little book off there is well I got a quick thought on the Sabres that actually stems from a conversation I had with the with Tom Gisele of from yes P. R. from TSN radio in Edmonton I conversation with him on my podcast this past week and an old name that we haven't really brought up in trade conversations we we used to talk about him a lot and I don't think I've heard his name in months there might be reason to throw in.

"Ladies and gentleman had a night last night that was fun to watch it was fun to be back at target center watch in one of my favorite squads in the entire world thanks again tell everybody they join me yesterday I was on from three until five thirty PM leading up to pre game action for doubles basketball your new Stargate real WCCO that was a lot of fun being a target center and get a chance to talk to a nursing role sauce who's done a really good job of moving this this organization in the right direction at the very start of his tenure with some savvy moves that will get into here a little bit later and clearly enjoyed his playing well yesterday and I'm not read the crown on on that was definitely a nice arm part of not just yesterday's game but the end of a good week for the entire organization including one Karl Anthony towns but I do wanna I do want to mention this real quickly here I just got off the phone I won't reveal who tipped me off on this arm but I do want to mention this because I think it should be noted because everybody knows I'm a big college basketball fan in on one of the ways that I made my name and in this town almond in the metro was is Walt college recruiting back when a lot of people don't necessarily care about college recruiting they don't care about the high school athletes in what schools were going to be recruiting them and how good certain players wore off for me and that was fun it it's always still fun to to track who the best players in the country are and I'll still remember those days just like yesterday or being at the mud bomb you know McDonald's all American games being at the Nike all American cancer all you know being that that the the you know the peach jam down in Augusta Georgia in one big name that a lot of people have been hearing about and will continue to hear about for the next several years here in the great state of Minnesota is straight on Heileman arm the one of the best point guards I think at the end of the day that will talk about on scene played high school basketball in Minnesota out from out of free dermal he's he's a player he he's he's a he's a he's a phenomenal player and when when I look at at this state one of the things we love about high school basketball here is well we've got a nice track record all point guards how it will mean Troy bell Tyus Jones trade Jones mccamly right with that there's so many I mean I'm leaving out people okay clearly because I'm just going I'm thinking about just a few right off the top of my head there's been a lot of really good really good players in tray is is following in all of those individuals footsteps literally just about ten minutes ago or maybe about fifteen minutes ago now because I just got off the phone on what was six or seven minutes ago coach Tom Izzo as all for the young man a scholarship which is that says a lot about the talent that resides in the young man's body and I say that because this is very meaningful in every aspect when you're talking about college basketball in recruiting here in the Twin Cities because this is not something that Tom Gisele just goes about the business of doing he just doesn't go around the country offering sophomore guards that's not that's not typically that's not what he does okay so for trade to to get the call in the be all for by Michigan state arm first off congratulations to trade and I'm really good friends with his mother crystal she's she's awesome she's also woman is you don't wanna baller he got it from his mom his mother is a she's a ball a crystal flight is an absolute baller are in a really good coach but congratulations to him and his family for the offer and it's just one of many you're talking about because Michigan state what we I guess we we look at Mr stating call them a blue blood successful program I went to go blue blood you think you can talk do you think the chances you think I'll do you think of don't you think of Indiana I guess is still I what I would consider Michigan state or a blue blood at this point okay okay so so what what what Adam in there yeah I I think the right no more so than Indiana I would I would say that you've not now but I I guess my point of asking the question is we all know that there's no comparison between the two programs right now right but in the end it was so much better and bigger bag yeah we all hysterically right right now the profile of Michigan state much higher but yeah you go back twenty third at the night days and all that before the judge Heathcote days I Michigan state I I think you could make that you can make that case yeah yep so congratulations to tray this is just a one of many everybody's going to be knocking on a door picking up the phone and often this young man and he's a really cool kid that I've only met him just a handful of times I'll talk more with his mom about anything about I'm her son but seems like a really really cute your kid who really has his life together and I'm wishing him nothing but continued success here in if you just do a lot of stuff USA basketball and everything what let's talk about the NBA guys okay and let's talk about what occurred last night at target center it was kind of a weird it was a weird game for the temples it just I I guess I say weird because it's actually weird when we see Karl Anthony towns have the type of game that he had last night we actually was missing some shots right call it the town's arm he's got not to such a great start to the season okay he is been spectacular so far and he's he's been doing everything that you look at it you say that man this guy's playing like a potential MVP candidate okay now we know that it's a small sample size but none the less calling the towns it's just been flat out bald he's been bowling and Western Conference player of the week during the first gate yeah he he's he's been he's been all that the bag of chips but last night there was a little bit of some struggles for calling the shots he missed more shots in this is it's all relative folks I can't still had a very good night but at the end of the day armed he missed more shots last night then we've typically seen him arm miss here in the first couple of games but somebody had his back last night in that somebody would be his teammate Andrew Wiggins gate Andrew Wiggins had his back last night and it's awakens on the night nine of eighteen from the field for ten from three point land in all three pointers are common light okay he ended up with twenty five points and he also racked up six rebounds any data plus fifteen now I'm not one of those individuals that hearts on the plus minus I really don't because there's parts of the plus minus stuff that they can get kinda antiquated in terms of how you evaluate what the plus money and how we utilize it I don't necessarily get caught up in it too much okay art Carney the towels is an amazing player hit his plus minus less I was he was a plus for could come out of the town I don't care about the plus miles with a guy like that because we know how impact impactful years when it comes to girls basketball he get it off the game twenty three points eleven rebounds four assists two steals and a block another good night for call it any towns he doesn't take nights all but last night it was all about intuitions okay let's just go ahead and and and and and put that out there it was all about and weekends he came up clutch when they needed him to come up clutch and your Minnesota Timberwolves are three now okay they are three in all on to really great games for Karl Anthony towns in a really good game for him last night but in that fourth quarter in a come back for your Minnesota timbales they defeated the Miami Heat okay they defeated the mine he was out Jimmy Butler one sixteen to one oh nine I'll say this about age awakens people have to understand this about Edwards I just understand this about how I view the walls in general when I talk to rules basketball and that's the thing I love about the organization I talk to eat the cast and see he was on the show yesterday Gerson rolls us a present bass WAP rations right thank you C. O. O. the Minnesota balls I had a bunch of people on yesterday the thing I've always loved about the walls is that I can be super critical of them and they don't care I can be super optimistic and positive they don't care it's my opinion and it's me analyzing the team day in and day out and I say that because I love that about the organization there are some organizations okay I'm not going to name them but there are some organizations in some other cities all across the country that get in their feelings and they have been scan when your car when you criticize them on the air that's just a fact I once talked about it was it was a funny I was kind of joking about it was something that happened away from the field in regards to what you know a couple of players and it before I got off the year my program director was cold by somebody in media relations from that specific squad in regards to something that me and my toll said had talked about and with all due respect that's really showing how truly thin skinned you are when it comes to your relationship with host columnist media members it doesn't do your fans any good when you get all up in your emotions about nothing for any organization to get upset because host reporter whatever somebody in the media yes talking about something you're not necessarily but not bashing your guys maybe have a little bit of fun at the expense of your guys who put themselves in situation and situation to be made fun off or to talk critically about whatever it may be quarterback having a good day or bad day a wide receiver going off and having a ridiculous they don't always feel like it's all good when people are kissing your feet and talking glowingly about you when times.

"In this hour we're going to be talking about the Louisiana constitution the foundation that we stand on our governance of the state of Louisiana but over the years there's been so many amendments to the constitution is it time to reform saying and simplify the members of the public affairs Research Council have put together a continuing series and part one a just published calling getting the foundation right joining us to talk about it is Robert Travis Scott the president of the public affairs Research Council Robert welcome to the show thanks for having me on the line thanks for taking on the stick topic yeah it's one eight you know it it is a big topic it's wanted gets bandied about back and forth cross the aisle quite a bit over the years I know you have seen that going on for a long time and I know that there's been a a con a look see at the constitution at different points in time over the last probably twenty to thirty years let's start out with that obviously any time that you amend the constitution as much as this one has been amended a lot of times you end up with a mish mash of things that don't even make sense is that correct well I yeah and when you when I talk to all these new legislators these candidates who want to come in and get into the legislature I show them the sort of leaner version that the constitutional convention in seventy three seventy four produced and granted that its walls but it was a you know it was a very concise thank you could sit down and read it you know one one evening and you could understand it and probably best for you could actually up holder which is what they have to pledge to do in the legislature the current one we have now here's yes back with this had almost two hundred amendments search that time there's so much mine to share some of the funds in it it's really time to think about revising and not tell you know older stand a lot of talk about the constitutional convention and there's been all this debate about who would be at the convention who would be representing the hot water all go and we sort of said look let's let's step back from the politics of the convention and let's look at what's really in the constitution and if you change that what what that really means so we've done a a dive on there's not trying to suggest how to do a convention in fact the convention may not be the best way to try to make some of these changes but but there may be other ways to make exchanges so we have step back and look at it and said what's in it what should we do it and step one that we just came out with Monday says what is a good constitution what would make a good foundational document and how is that different from what we have today why do you think we are where we are with this document today you know hello Anna has the force longest constitution in the country among the states and we have over the years use the constitution as a place to in the bed special interests as a place to in bed of funding mechanisms because basically the legislature doesn't trust the legislature and they want to put in the constitution and what they've end up doing over time is really trying their hands a lot last but they exactly they can get accomplished it is entitled where angels is the trust Roger across we change our constitution far more than than others yeah I know I know we're way out we're way out in front and she tried to change it it's like that and I've always been concerned about but I I think it I think the distrust is greater than than the legislature not trusting itself I think in many respects and I and I think you would agree with this the public doesn't trust the government I think you're right and so they're they're looking for something that's a little bit more solidified in in is not going to be subjected to the political whims of the legislative body that they work very hard to pass a piece of legislation and then a year later it gets amended rescinded you know and it and it and it's gone it's not there and it is yeah and I I think the stress on the but I think there's also true to the fact that now you know once you once Joe sees Tom Gisele protection in there you know Joe wants is protection too and and so the one after and others you know and since the constitutional this'll protections and over time you know it it seems like everybody's got some protection there and you have a lot less flexibility number also straight mean I think this prosecution in seventy four started out with possibly can function and that now it's got like thirty three hang on my account and it is not okay to go back and say look what were our values back in the eighties and nineties when we set up some of these funds and what was the money supposed to go to war or our priorities in order of priorities now and is it okay to sit down as a group and reevaluate we've got somebody fiscal problems in the state isn't it possible that we could make your precinct some of these dedicates Hey this is crap talk I understand that you know what really is it not that radical I mean part of the problem is and I think you recognize it because you're you're kind of like I used to be down in the bowels of this every day trying to make things right work the meaning of a word in seventy four in the in the way that our economies matured and and and so many different sectors of the economy that have entered sense then don't have the same meaning today and the manner in which transactions are conducted if you think about taxes are you thinking about any number of things or a tech more poorly tax exemptions they don't mean the same today because the whole nature at the whole nature of business cycles have changed yeah that's a great dimension to add to this whole conversation having that's a really profound saying that you're saying so it's it's not only all the junk that's been added it says the possibility that somewhat with written this is dated in and not actually informing the policy discussion today it's a great point what I think what happens is it and where I get concerned a lot of times when we have judicial activism at its all time high in in my humble opinion those very words are left open to so much interpretation and we end up with bad outcomes and bad luck and and and bad court made law in my view well you know that's an interesting point that that criticism is often ain't that the US constitution and the courts in interpreting that I I think a lot of the burden on our current constitution is the fact that you can't see amendments that we've had since seventy for about a hundred up have all been just on article seven which is the money article for swear the spending it's all about the money it's all about how many how many follow the money and in that that section is is has grown tremendously since that time it's become very complex and it's almost the same that one article is almost the same size as the original constitution we're gonna take a break Robert let's pick the conversation up right there and talk about the money side of the situation when we return we're with Robert Travis Scott president of part of the public affairs Research Council talking about.
