"Find work but the moment that we're seeing here develop in virginia is is the grass roots is very very strong on both sides the tea party movement saw the grassroots get a much more philosophically resolved i would say philosophically crystallized in its conservatism on that's why you see people like dave brat tom garrett at ben cline hopefully emerging out of what used to be eric cantor robert hurt and bob goodlatte seeds i mean virginia has tacked very very noticeably to the conservative side and i believe that the democrats are going to do something similar so it's going to be very interesting this upcoming year to see how strong indivisible and these other similar groups end up becoming in it's going to be very interesting to see this left left version of the tea party left is tea party or we wanna say it wage war against the existing team already these hardcore conservatives these grassroots guys i mean ben cline threes might be the first time i've ever had the much money in a race and that includes tom gears general election we got outspent at a believe by a our opponent democrat and so you know we're going to see a lot of his grass roots progressive groups in candidates come up and take a swing at these tea party guys and so you know all the national attention is focused on what's going to happen with trump now you know will trump cost the republican seats will trump gain the republican seats will trump energize the left will trump you know caused just a few screaming fanatics to be really loud and then dissipate i mean this is going to be an interesting time i don't have the answers i don't know what's going to happen i know him working my butt off to make sure my mic guys stay in there but i think from a national historical perspective if nothing else.

"Patrick henry saying give me liberty or give me death she knew and in fact she had to move at for safety that they could lead to horrible things for herself and those that she loved but she believed it was right and that separate but equal was ally which it was wrong and she took steps and she took action and i didn't know who she was myself until i became a state senator and when i did i thought how do we not know this person so sixty seven years ago today she didn't initiated the walkout that that was the only student initiated case world into brown versus board of education in american hero congressman i know you're hoping to get her some federal recognition as well right so we've we filed for her to receive obviously posthumously she died in nineteen ninetyone and she did not go through her life seeking selfaggrandizement a recognition she became a librarian which is what she wanted to do but we filed for a congressional gold medal to recognize her legacy again that the american dream should be one that is available to all people that everyone should have an opportunity no guarantees but an opportunity and again i think the fact that she was sixteen when she took steps that she took sort of sends the message that one person with courage and conviction can change the world so it is something we're trying to do really is an amazing story and how so few people have a lot of people have never even heard of her so great stuff congressman appreciate that very much we're talking to congressman tom garrett let's shift gears a little bit congressman i know some federal efforts are ongoing to decriminalize marijuana well it's it's i guess senator schumer's talking about decriminalization we have a bill that would defend realize it and handed to the states the problem with this and i don't really care about marijuana so much do equal justice under.

"Insurance product this is actually just were paying for it ourselves or we would be reaching into our social security benefits in taking future benefits of ours to pay for it now and obviously the problem of like painting you know uh families against a few i don't even know how it's because one's jailing people against themselves uh and it it's not really paid family leave but this sneaky nece of it as well is in redefining social security benefits as something that you could use to pay for things right they've been actually surprising the open in about this this plan originally comes from the independent woman squirm much as of right wing think tank that was originally funded and founded by the coq brothers on during the clarence thomas hearings to say oh no look there are actually these woman who totally support clarence thomas they'd like sexual harassment and then since then whenever a prominent issue right especially issues that affect women come up they trot out the independent women's forum to talk to reporters talked to the media and say no no no woman actually don't want programs that help them were we want to go back to the 1950s and the media does with the media does and eats it up um so there is another one this cutting in this same sneak attack which was on a student loans right yeah that's an actual bill which is far are the number bacha plan has gotten at this point firm representative tom garrett that would say young people can have their student loans forgiven if they forfeit a portion of their future social security benefits so it's very similar and as you sir basan waterways as a marker of how popular social security years but they don't feel like they can get away with frontal the tax anymore and so they're trying his back door attacks which we've seen with this with morocco with the garrod plan and no sir with the ongoing attacks on the social security administration bug that says oh let's talk about that um because i do think these are all in a week we have been very good at defeating them and actually turning the momentum to away from cuts of benefits to expanding benefits so they have sort of uh you know it's like a.

"For the most part i'm always looking for those liberty republicans those rahm paulista s so to speak and you know i i had the great privilege of getting to work on a congressman tom garrett's campaign i love virginia because we make up a good chunk of the freedom caucus i mean it it seems like warren a strange position in the republican party because you know you look at the factionalism anz it might as well be you know a reddit forum chat where it's just twenty million different people talking to a million different languages trying to get to the same conclusion on something when it comes to the republican party a day one question that many people have been asking me good good batter indifferent is you know i see a lot of people trying to say that they are doing the best for the people that they're trying to represent their overall constituency but what they don't often here anof of is something that is incredibly passionate to them it's a i mean it's something that they really do its understanding are we a party that advances liberty or are we a party that simply trying to take control of this airplane at about the crash into a mountain and are excuses i will just do a better than the democrats when it comes to the republican party do you feel that we're dealing a positive job when it comes to advancing these you know these freedom ideals or do you think there's you know their areas that we've obviously slacked on i'll i'll i mean huge slacking going on in a lot of areas and that was why i got recruits run for national committee woman in the first place is the people who came to me on you know they're like sent the it's time for you to dust off your boxing gloves and get back in the rank his our party if if we don't save our party we are we going and the problem is you know we always wanna cast aspersions at the democrats and call them socialist but if you look at many in the republican party they are equally big government socialist as well and so i think going back to and this is why i love what dr paul did is actually taking us back to an understanding of.
