In. The meantime was last one was on news who was a few weeks ago. Couple few weeks a couple of weeks ago. A couple of Tim hold People's Credit score to be back in studio. Yes, it is good to have you back. So this week. We are going to be talking about four new movies, which are currently in theaters. The girl in the spider's web the new girl in the dragon tattoo. Stores storylines. The new Grinch movie, widows and overlord along with some geek news. So that is going to be on this week's episode before we get into that. We'll get into the original theme song could by demon Randall of ill mannered media. Let's all go to the lobby. Let's all go to the. That's all. Again. Some exciting movie news to start off the show. So exciting anybody you'll hear anybody? Who knows me knows that? I am a huge fan of documentaries knows that. I'm a big fan of bio-pics if they are done, right. Eva do Vernay apparently was in talks with prince before he died. That sounds weird as if would have talks after he died, but before prince died, they had some talks and he loved queens sugar. It was like we should work together on something he ended up passing away. But she is going to be producing a new Netflix documentary about prints and has full access to the prince volts. Those of you who do not know much about prints. No that he or may might not know in his volt. There are hundreds of songs and full videos that he shot edited stayed in everything and then put in a volt because that would just how his creative brain worked knew he was like I have an idea I've a student in my house. I have a video stage of my house like I need to just go and make a thing. So abor do Vernay announces she is going to be producing a new documentary on net flicks about prince those are kind of dealing details. We know right now, we're not sure when it will be coming out with somebody like print when there is so much stuff. We probably will not see this for another year year and a half because there's a lot to get through. I don't know. I don't know how excited I am. And I love prince. And so do I I think just she is the right person. I mean, she was producing it. We they've not using about who's involved triple a very private person. Yeah, purposely. He was proud about his faith. He was private about them. How how we worked? And I don't know if he's someone that would want all of that out because he didn't live his life. Like that. Will they I mean, apparently there were talks between the two of them of on again. Who knows what they were talking about who knows? But I I don't know what they're talking about. But I do know principle, very private very very much. So all these cool stories about him look after he passed away this guy who drove for him croc hunter towards really cool story is really short story. But he said, you know, so he he's having to drive drive the tour bus, right? And they're like all these rules about. Don't talk to prince don't look in those Anton since one night, they're driving in prince comes up next to them such just talking. He's I talked to this is Eisner road. Couldn't conversation at talking about bikes. And prince in motorcycles that are happens whole conscious motorcycle bikes and the guys talking about this back. He would build his back to you wanna ripe fast forward towards over gets a call from his boss. I talked to you about prince. He's like, oh, no. About to get fired because I did. Dared print, so they'll bring him down to the to the to the garage and Princeton him the bike that you told them about all specific them bells and whistles like, yeah. I remember hearing said he but there were tons of. That's how we lived. There were tons of stories about him like that sort of popped up. The coolest thing. I remember saying I remember hearing about him performing than SNL fifty thing L. Yeah. And then we'll see past because there's no never sold the video video of it is like all these people like the a list of celebrities are in this room and are all standing out 'cause prince sh- gets onstage and like kills it for like fifteen minutes with some random guitar somebody had the reason that I am excited. You know, for this is I think not just for those behind the scenes things, which I mean quest love has incredible stories, so many people do even if this is a ninety minute documentary were all it shows are those kind of major performances and what led up to those. I don't necessarily need to know. Like, those that had this is weird because I am a big documentary like his his past like the issues that he had with his dad and all the things I would be okay exploring those a little bit. But mainly just show us, those incredible just want more prints. I just want. Yeah. I just want more prince and ended in in one shot. I mean, again, you on YouTube and find so many things I mean prince there will never be another person like prince. No, it reminded me a lot with bohemian rhapsody like as Rami Malik was spectacular. Nobody can be, Freddie. Mercury. No. And so with prince I'm glad they're going the documentary route with this. They'll be about picking some point. I imagine I I worry more about that than this documentary. Yeah. But not worried about it'd be good or bad. I just knowing how privacy was at part of me. Just like, I don't know if we should be doing this because he didn't live his life like that ample very private about a lot of stuff. And then to then I mean, he hasn't been hasn't passed. It's been a long pass. There's been a few years. We're cracking open this fall in exposing this in there already like give us some time. Yeah. I sometime I do agree without there's one. Story one of his like his longtime band managers. She was doing this interview. And she she said that she had to teach people who kinda came around prince, whether they were just on the road shows or whatever she was like just say, yes to whatever he says just say as he lived in a world, where no did not know exist. She talked about getting a call from him at like four o'clock in the morning because he would just working all the time. So he calls her new like like, hey at this idea. And I need a giraffe tomorrow. I hear this. And this is like when she was relatively new, and she was like, we we can't get a draft news like. What are you talking about? Like, I knew until she was like, okay Printz award getting you drop next day. Then she doesn't feel like, oh, we we couldn't get the drag foods like she just had to learn to be like, you got it prints. Yeah. And then either a Hopi forgets or then try and explain it later. But yeah. So I just I'm excited because I trust aver do Vernay. Yeah. It it will be interesting. What corners they go down recently? Eric one of our buddies at film Jabber, he talked about won't you be my neighbor. Yeah. And he was he actually compared to everybody else did not really love the movie because Mr. Rogers was exactly the person that we all thought he was right there were no skeleton lingua at my the no tattoos. He was never sniper. He was the perfect person that was on TV. And he was like with the documentary. He who's kind of looking for a different angle with prince there. There are a lot of ways. So that should be interesting. Yeah. That was announced recently breaking bed the exceptional show that went on for five seasons. Could by Vince Gilligan then ounce that I mean, how long ago did that end five years ago something like that? Yeah. Roundabout fears ago, they're talking about doing a movie most likely a TV movie, not a theatrical moving with picking up basically at some point after the events of the series finale and Jesse pink Minh, it will be his story about what who knows about him. I mean because spoiler alert for breaking bad, those of you who have not seen it. It was years ago. He was the only person that made it out of that series. And so. Let's assume you driving away he was driving away. And he was all happy like that who've that scene as brutal Jesse went through some stuff on that show. So I mean, if win not if when the feds or whoever find this lab, they're probably going to find his fingerprints of dead bodies. So where did he go from there? Did he get caught who knows? But for some reason, they're making this TV movie about his life. So it was like I mean better call Saul is very successful. And I think that could be read that look. All right. Can we push squeeze some more content out of this breaking bad limit? And they're just trying to squeeze it out as much as they can. And it was Vince Gilligan. I mean, he is producing better call Saul. Okay. Good for them. So I just I'm not too sure about this one better call Saul to me kind of made more sense 'cause like this really cares Matic character in the show that we had about a season's worth of stuff over that five seasons. Have what we figure out where he came from. Then also, you know, the because the characters to all you can bring in a bunch of random characters, and it makes you can bring characters from breaking bad that we know and other Carter's that came in his life because of how he lived his life. And that that makes sense. I don't know this one Jesse you break breaking all new ground and bringing new characters and it's dicey. Yeah. But they'll they'll they'll take swing at it. Yeah. So we will see about that speaking of TV shows. So the HBO watchman TV show just announced their Ozzy Amandus casting Jeremy ir since it's an older one. That is perfect. Did he's good like that makes absolute on his not as physically large as Amandus. Wasn't the comic. But neither was the guy in the movie. But as far as like that attitude of other is Jeremy Irons will crush it and older one too. Yeah. So that'll be and this is an older one who apparently still succeeded in whatever he was going for 'cause this is taking place after kind of the comic series. And there they said they were kind of doing a reimagining. So we're not succeeded. We don't know what happened. Yeah. I guess I guess that is true. But I just I love Jeremy Irons. Yeah. He's always good stuff. Tom middleton. So if you'd like every week there's going to be a Disney, plus which is their streaming service. Some new Disney, plus news, of course, Tom Hilton was just announced that he is getting a series for LOKI on Disney. Plus. So I've no idea why series in Siri popped. Oh, yeah. It was like gotta here Siri creeper. So yeah. So Tom Middleton will be back as LOKI in this new show on Disney. Plus so for everybody who was worried which they should not have been when they're like. Oh, no this person died in Infinity. No, we're never realize that. As soon as they introduced the time stone, Docker strange literally anything is possible. Not anything is possible. So this is one of those shows like last week. I talked about how they're doing a winter soldier and falcon show him Disney. Plus that I'm excited for the that that could be interesting. This key one. I I'm not quite sure I think it'd be interesting kind of know about other than it's LOKI. I don't know. What's even with the falcon? I don't know what they're about just know these characters and do I like these characters? Absolutely. So we'll see. But the one thing I'm talk about this later on with the other sours announcement is and they're gonna put a lot of money and a lot of loose early on in who content for their streaming service. Oh, yeah. They're in the dank pushy hard to get people interested in original content on their for their service every everybody. Everybody has wanted a net killer, quote, unquote, kill networks, it is not going to kill net flicks. But have a lot of content. It is going to have a ton of a lot of content. Did I mean, I mean thing is if your internet savvy like once digitize it'll be somewhere if you define literally our usually our after for people with kids, and they want to kiss wants. 'cause like Netflix has a bunch of stuff to Gillette, I'm not sure about and it does educating even even without the setting. I can just put Disney. Plus you kick him press on their ipad on a plane on a long road trip and just watch content and you're not to stress about what the clicking on. I think you're okay. Now. My sister's definitely gonna be like, yeah. He wants to this day. They have a huge leg up on the competition. Because all of the Disney shows that we grew up with in the movies. I've if they're not there right away, all the content. Oh, yeah. That's what the merger was four. True. It's all that content. All those old Faulk shows, we watch all those old FOX sitcoms all of that is going to be on wait until your kid clicks on merit of the children. But even then. You know, God that show is so problematic. It all that stuff. Yeah. You get you get access to all that archival stuff that we grew up watching. It's at the press of a lot of content tons and tons of content, and they could mean with Netflix like all of us get or most people get an Email to somebody being like coming up on that flakes, no next month, or whatever if somebody gets an Email or not if when they start getting emails from Disney being like next month this entire series, and that like people are just going to go crazy. And we're gonna have every episode of Martin on here. Oh, you have wolf if they remastered that would actually really cool. They still show it. I I could turn on my right now TV one Martin living single, which are your durability to just to just go through it. I think is necessary. Yeah. It'll it'll be fascinating. What they put on this on this side. I should be putting crime going to be we're going to get. I don't think we're done with announcements either. Oh, no. I mean, I seriously feel like every episode. I'm going to have to do a new little bit. But yeah. So Tom stint as LOKI reminder. I've been watching titans. I got that show. I got a little bit behind because I just I've been traveling like crazy, not a bad show. I have been impressed and I'm like enjoyable it. And yes, it is very different macabre grain is off. But yeah, it's enjoyable if you can turn that off I heard they introduced Jason Todd in the latest. So I'm I've not seen to I think three episodes no to SOS behind. It is a pretty cool. I was like, oh, this is this is cool. Mirrors. What happens earlier in the ups owed funnier like a nice Robinson? That's pretty cool. Nice other Disney, plus movie news or show news so Kassian and or played by Diego. Luna in rogue one. He is getting his own series on Disney, plus love Diggle Luna. So do I here's what I have an issue with and I can totally understand these Star Wars fatigue that a lot of people are getting because it is like here is a movie that is a prequel to movie that you really love. Oh, you like these characters ho just wait. Here's a whole show about this character. Like, we do not need to know everybody who shook somebody's hand in the Star Wars university where they came from now dig Luna was great in that. And I liked him this show. I'm like, sure. But like when we already know what happens I feel like there needs to be a point where they realize how would just make solid characters. And that that can be done. I mean, they did with the books after you know, but those were the expanded universe books, which those are really cool that was different in the sense where it was like those were almost all after the movies. So all almost all of the expanded universe movies. Rarely were they like Kay. There's actually there's some Dr Darth plague is stuff, but they were not digging like fifty years one hundred years and keep making stuff like that. So I just I mentioned to see where this goes because it feels like anybody who's introduced in Star Wars universe. If they latch on Disney is going to be like cool. But interesting story got it again, nothing but much like the books if you have in recent story, you wanna tell with a character in. It's it's a cool story. I'm one hundred sent on board with that. Can you tell the story and that that will be like again, people get on Netflix about that that they're just pushing content out there, which is not as great as others with Disney. They've a lot more money a lot more licenses and everything so we will see kind of where that if that fatigue happens lives never going to be a fatigue for they'll be people who it'll be good content. Back onto it won't be fatigue. You keep giving people. Good content. That will watch it. No one wanted address park moving drafts. World made a bunch of money. But then drastic the next one was terrible. It made all the money, and it what's bad. No, no, drastic world wasn't bad. Oh, the next full Kim Jong keenum was bad. But dress world when it came out. I was like who wants to. Dress park movie. It's good content. People will watch it and people will enjoy it giving people. Good content. I'm sure some of these star will shows won't hit. They'll be terrible. There'll be others to do hit. And it'll be fascinating and people will latch onto those. It's just a gamble. You just rolling the dice. And if it doesn't work it doesn't work you can cut the cord, but it does work. Do you have those rogue one people really need a prequel a rogue one people? But then came out people. Oh, this is a really cool story and in the cool way in ins, bad ass way. Right. Yeah. Who saw that coming when it was announced none of us. Well, not actually nobody saw that even when they were filming it that was one of the massive re-shoots pretty big resuscitated after one of the first of the movie, they're like, we need to tie a little bit more you to do something. And I forget who they talked about it. I read it in its Ruth or one of the writers. There were like I've got an idea, and they're like, well, what is it? Boom it right. But when you have a creators making things who can think about. These characters in interesting ways, and even translate that to a script and on the screen. It's on them. So we'll see about that again content that I still don't know what they're doing Walking Dead. Well, so for the past year, so first of all full disclosure, I stopped watching Walking Dead four seasons ago. I stopped after Nagin went all very bombs on anybody's head the baseball bat. I'm watched since then it just it was just got rock, and I'll be honest with you. I stop watching. Ooh. 'cause I'm listening to five started podcast shout out to Bob and in K bad. They were making fun of Negus voice. And the way he taught he's means the way this is the stuffy says he choose scenery this how corny it is all the time. And it was like come on. Just how corny he sounds. Yeah. It end bad. And then I washed it, and it wasn't not funny. Yeah. I was like this is I'm supposed to be afraid of this got comical, and I was like I couldn't even enjoy the show anymore. I couldn't enjoy the big bad villain. 'cause I'm not he was stupid. They ruined it for me. So I could never watch. I haven't watched his own. I mean, and I have only seen those clips. I mean, I read the comics and everything so I mean near the story was going, but I was like so I stopped watching it a while ago for the past year, they have been talking like this Andrew Lincoln's last Stephen Rick Grimes, his gone everybody will like I gotta watch this season. So said she so they did. And so his last episode, quote unquote was I think last week last weekend last weekend onto my Twitter feed was going crazy. They're like, oh, you know, all these pictures of rent it. It was Andrew Lincoln. Right. And then I heard for my friend and how well, yeah. I I will spoil a little bit. I stopped watching until I don't even care boil this show. If you're watching still watching the show and don't want to spoil then stop listening for like, sixty seconds. So in that episode, you see him die or what we see like a death scene and people were like, oh, you know, that was actually a good send off at the end of the episode. You see him being flown away in a helicopter, and it was like what you build up like last season. Like give him a good death to Modesto. So all of that to say AMC announced they're going to be making three movies starring Rick ground, Dan. Now like right after the premiere episode, I knew they were doing this. What you build up for a year that Rick Grimes has gone. Andrew Lincoln has gone to cast is all said, and you do not even let people kind of settle in or realize like how that was a decent send off before. You're like just kidding here. Three minutes this guy. What are you doing this show really jumped? A shark with that that episode. What was my man's name? The Asian dude. What was his name? Oh, yeah. I forget his name. But I'm spacing on the kiss disrespect because I love Stephen win. So like the characters Medicare's. Okay. So it's he's like trapped in the alley in his eye. He's around Tim another guy surrounded by zombies. And he's about to get eaten in it. Looks like he was eating. Oh, you mean like, oh, yeah. Like, his his death sees? But when they go back, it's you show them like they're like, oh we played Glenn. Glenn Glenn Glenn fake out. Would you also like I remember seeing a clip, and I was like soon this show when it when I go back and show it he's like under his friend's dead body. He escapes in like highs under a garbage can. And I was like, oh, this show has jumped the shark 'cause you fed us this idea up to that point when we saw people die people died. Yeah. People were dead. But for this like oh cycling faked you out Glenn still alive, and he's cause him dying that way fit the mold of the show. Yeah. Was he got eight because he's got tracks got got that. Right. But he he he survived and and shows back up at their little compound. I was like this is really jump shot. I kept walking both you've really 'cause you're at that point. You're not telling interesting store, you're doing things that deploys the audience, emotions and this. Grimes thing is the same thing where you you put out this. I mean, it's not even like it was fans. It's them telling you, we're killing his character and Andrew Leeson is done planes candor, and he wants to move on. So was all of this stuff that we now know flat out lies negotiating because you're doing three picture thing. And so you're doing all of this back and forth with him. And and the things you're going to do. And then you I'm not kidding. Like Emilee epilogue was over. I'm seeing stuff on my Twitter about this move him. I got killed us, dude. If I'm a fan of the show, I'm probably furious. Because like why do that just as plenty of other characters? If you're if you're storing the strong enough you to introduce other cool characters to make this more fascinating than you need in the show. Yeah. It's probably way Pat on in the show way past way past on in the show is how to run. Yeah. Is had a road. What is the famous famous line from? You guys have not talked. Well, actually, no, I I know why because I've not talked about on your pet cemetery. Oh, we'll payments online. Sometimes dead is better. Sometimes better let Walking Dead die. Let it run. Its course come on let it run. Its course let let them find harmony in a world of zombies. Let that be it. I mean, again, just you know, just Daymond from podcast. They just has been saying for years at some point if you survive long enough in his ambi-, apocalypse, whatever zombies are not magical there. They're still bodies. There's still flesh and bone. Yeah. They're going to start falling apart at some point as long as you can keep most people safe. So you're not creating news on these. I'll ask them just just wait it out like they'll take up years, right? Listen more call then freeze death. I really yeah. I it's it's AMC is going to try it. I mean, at least they're AMC movies that people. I will watch. And that is I think one of the problems is that AMC has a rabid fan base. When it comes to Walking Dead. Yeah. Well, can do it has it youth fan base? Walker Stocker con una wild stuff that happens. And I I'm someone who was a fan I understand that phantom and phantom in general and after she hit. But at some point, you know, you're burning the candle of both ends with the does. And it's just going to it's going to be burnout down people assump- now, I don't think it'd be burned out. But I think is just people will start hate watching it. And I think people want Bill to trust the narrative, they're seeing because you'll just do whatever you wanna do that may not even fit the narrative that's more frustrating than actual burnout is, oh, I believe your tongue you tongue store in this vein constantly, then some point when you decide something profitable or not profitable. You're going to pull the switch. It's not like it's not like what's his name, Sean around for riding the character on. She didn't like them doesn't different. It's you be like all this press about cooling someone and be like, oh, he's not dead. It's like, wink. Yeah. Speaking of actors and death, Tom Cruise this man. I mean, so Tom Cruise separated the art from the artist Tom Cruise, I've said it before the greatest action here of our generation for sure like he is phenomenal. They're working on top gun two at the moment. He halted filming because he is also an executive producer, and you can do whatever he wants. He was like guys we need to stop filming for awhile. Why do you ask he wants to learn how to fly a fighter jet? So the scenes are more realistic. What come on taking to your narrative about drones? I think there are going to be more drones and people think absolutely. I think there they're I mean, of course, it has top gun. They're going to be fighter jets. But I think there are going to be some drones in there as well. The play part. You know? But yeah, Tom Cruise shutting down production. So that he can learn how to fly and that he's already pilot like has his pilot's license. Because of course, he has flying a fighter jet is a bit different than a Cessna whose fast flying jet. Fighter jets. Do not go slow is Phil magic, isn't that the fly fast? But allow you to get a shot of him in if I did actually flying. Yeah. Well, actually, why people like Tom Cruise direct. Some director told me one time to interview our after we were interviewing he was talking about Tom Cruise, and he was like directors like work with him because he's crazy enough to do these stunts. So when you when he's climbing some building into by you can get a shot at him doing it. Yeah. It's not a stop man has to be why shot into close up shot him doing an allows you to do more with the scene. So I imagine him one actually a fighter jet allows them to do more with the scene because he's an what is interesting though is with the original top gun. There are a lot. There's a lot of footage of them actually in the fighter jets. That was never used. Because those scenes are edited weirdly, well, just wash it. And so the scenes of the of him in a Anthony Edwards that are actually in the jets being flown. They don't use them because like the actors are going pale. They're trying to pass out because they are in the backseat while the pilot is in the front actually doing the flying. So they have real footage of them in the cockpits. There's like, nah, one out of using this this it sounds like they might want some of its own any some of it, Tom Cruise. I I mean, I hate saying this Tom Cruise is going to die onset doing loves and the dalit not necessarily for this movie Zeno, saving he'll be just match ups. And that's a good for Tom Cruise and deers. And then the last bit of news is actually some really sweet new some nice news. So Wallison Gromit more the rather the creators of Wallace and Gromit recently. They have been working on this for a few years, but they kind of fear this kind of corporate takeover of a lot of these properties that we grew up with so any kind of bid to change that they're going through the process of essentially making it an employee owned company. So be a Packers isn't the place don't own it. But the okay fans do. Oh, right. Yes. So it just it kinda saves it from those kind of corporate bigwigs like a Disney coming along like cool. We like your animations dude you've been doing great for forty years. We'll take that. And so they just they wanted to kind of give it back to the employee's. Really cool. They are not shutting down at all. They have to new movies that they're working on pharma Gidon is the new Sean of a dead movie, which of or Shaun of the dead, Shaun, Shaun the sheep. That would be interesting crossover who shot in the day, and they're doing a chicken run two kids levels movies, man. Like, I have so much respect for these guys because they haven't doing they created this unique, look and style and have been running with it for almost forty years. It's good work. So yeah, good for them. I just I like hearing the companies actually kind of care care about the employee's. So all right. So that was the bunch of geek news, the first movie on the docket. Tim. Tell me all about the girl in the spiders will miss the screening of of. And that was not too sad about that. Even though it looked cool girl inspired web a dragon tattoo story. That's the fool tied. Oh, the full time. It's the full title is back on his name on her name is it's based on the fourth book, which wasn't really written by the other author about Elizabeth and her journeys as a hacker Stockholm Sweden this. Story involves this sort of. Nuclear program called firewall does God creating that the NSA has. And so he's he asked her to hack it and bring back to him because he pas on destroying it of. Sure. Nobody should have this amount of power. The other NSA got guy NSA person on the other end is played by Keith Stanfield. Okay. So he makes his way to stock home. They find out the group that so she gets it. And in these these the nameless faceless goons 'cause goons love nuclear codes. They show up is it. Okay. So we we've had this trope sent I wanna say the Cold War for sure is late sixties seventies. I mean, yes, it is still an issue. I mean, obviously I in the actual current events. News of the world. Come on. So they're trying to this new codes offer she survives, obviously. Right. And they're call a group called the spiders is really heinous gang of criminals in in Sweden. So the spiders are the are the villains. The hacker trying to get something from this by back back while the guy who she's supposed to get it from his in police custody to save house sees Trenton make sure the him in his Kidder safe. And that's spoiler alert safe houses movies are never safe and never say. Never never so. Yeah. That's that's the movie and look Keith shows up in stock home. And he's trying to help. He's trying to get to her to get the program back up, you know, helping her okay? And so the two of them helping out trying to I mean this thing. Now, the movie looked interesting. I mean, I. It's a much more of an action film than other films the very much like investigative intriguing and she, Sean. Yeah out and she's more police procedural police procedural, but like the character Lisbeth herself is sort of anti hero who's not necessarily good person who sleep with a bunch of other women whose kind of. You know, not doesn't really have great self esteem. She's always sort of in our own way. But even within Nash has this obsessive relationship with bloom bloom quiz, and so they have their relationship. She's always sort of like out of sorts when she's around this guy. And she's she's given this task to do these things, and it's she's not really like a JAMES BOND type, right? The turn her into an action star. She's like rotting across a frozen lake in a motorcycle. She's it's just play it off like it looks fine. But it's not that that's not to me. That's not Elizabeth character. I've seen these fair. I'm fine with it. Everyone's handling guns. Everyone can shoot everyone that chasing nuclear codes. Now, saying it's like a fast and furious movie did just fine around Sweden. The police are always forced us behind. Sniper rifles explosions interesting crazy serums. It's all this like crazy, JAMES BOND villain stuff happening in this film that I felt like the other films were much more grounded got him like a reality where corruption death murder family secrets real real things that happen and real things and movie is more like, yeah, there's some of that. But then there's also a crazy chase, and is also a riding around Lamborghini, and like is that kind of stuff he could in and I've not seen all of the Swedish what once before because they have this Reese three Swedish one and then one. Yeah. Daniel Craig was in the American. Yeah. Him and him in Rudy mar. Right. So I watched that one. And I think the original Swedish one. Yeah. And yeah, they felt like said grounded, it must grounded does ain't less grounded. This is more like fun action. When I tried listening to the audio book of the first one. Yeah. That was rough. Because again, the book is very detail oriented very festive rapes, I know just how a lot of rape in the. And I was like there's no reason than this one L good progress on I don't think so. Okay. I do like the director quite a bit. And I forgot who he was until I just looked up. And I was like, oh, yeah. So Feddie Alvarez who did don't breathe from a couple years ago great modern horn day. This is a fine action film. It's just not a dragon tattoo story. Gotcha. That is fast fine. If it had been some other random woman in a different character. It's probably much better movie. But you want these dragged out to movies because of Lisbeth who the character is? And there's very little of that is very sanitized version of that for a much bigger. It's like someone got up onto Knowlton building saying like I make this more fun in action e poppy where she gets used this for research fast and furious. I want to speed across a frozen lake in your Matt black do Coty that's nine. Now. We're gonna have you a scene where people are shooting people through the walls from two hundred yards away with a high powered rifle and these are just getting shot. If it feels remember that's an eraser where the show up when Arnold in the house when he when he shows up with the balloons. Yeah. I was gonna say Williams and these guys are shooting through the walls. It's that. Wow. That's happening. Okay. That's an a dragon tattoo movie. I know it's funny. Does it seem where he boom question twins investigation. He he meets with the guy who tells them essentially about the spiders and he takes off his face. They're like what happened to you? Because oh, I lost my nose and he takes off his face in show. Mike, it's disgusting. But I wanted to learn more about the spiders because they seem crazy like more time with the spiders, and how insane they are. But they're just like nameless. Tesla's then I don't know any of these guys names. They're just spiders interesting. Okay. So for the new listeners this your first time listening to the episode or the show the rating system for this podcast. There are only three choices. No stars. No letter grades three. Choices are good bad or ugly. Good film, something you would recommend bad. Film was something that you do not hate. But it was also not that great. There are some rhyming. And an ugliest just avoid at all costs. So let me make sure I get this. Right. The girl in the spider's web dragon tattoo story. What do you give this bad ugly, so bad? Okay. There will be people who why be watching on TV and enjoy if you watch Netflix one night, you'd be fun. I was a fun two hours. Gotcha. If you are like, if you love those stories, it might turn you off because you're black. This isn't really. One thing. I want to send my review is reminded me so much going into an idea and seeing like following me going on there just because it is Swedish and racist. Exactly. Exactly you see this bedroom setup. Okay. Because you're looking for a bed, you realize matches and very good. The TV's mount of plastic troops placid fruit in the bowl. Yup. The covers are fake the cloud that might look good the frame Israel because you're trying to buy the front. The frame is the only real thing in here. Right. Although it looks like a bedroom. A lot of it is fake. That was the dragon tattoo story for me. Lots of fake this kind of a real framing you understand that. That's the real thing you want, but the rest of it doesn't really fit even though it looks aesthetically like something you would like. In reality is not like, that's the movie. Okay. I mean, I will probably check it out on Netflixing like months when if you get and it's really well like you really wanna see it. I go see something else. But why way to sell it Wednesday meant any really want to see go see signing? But if you just like, I got time between I go to work, you you're not going to be bored. I was never bored. Okay. I didn't hate it. Fair enough go. All right. So that was the girl in the spider's web dragon tattoo story next up a film that I watched the Tim was unable to go to the screening of the Grinch directed by Yaro Cini, ams Scott mosier that same Scott mosier from Kevin Smith projects who was funny is on. Do on their show on smart cast like two years ago. Scott they're being really cagey, and they're like, yeah, we're going to be taken off Scot as a project. He's going to be in Paris working on some stuff, and they could not say anything, and it was like what is going on. And then they I mean Kevin Smith has like eight podcasts. But smart cast went on hiatus for a while. And they're not really saying anything. This is why Scott mosier was directing this new animated version of the Grinch with illumination studios. So right off the bat the animation speaking on that is phenomenal. Like, the textures that they are able to maintain not maintained but achieve these days like the wispy hair like the stitching on the clothing. I mean, it was what other fills his studio done elimination. They did the minions ones. Oh, there would DreamWorks. I think so elimination studios there were a couple of other ones. Let me pull that up. Illuminate and imagine learning studio, aluminum entertainment arrogant. Despicable me sing secret life of pets. Minions. Okay. Gotcha. So yeah. It's under the track record, definitely. And that they're making like a secret life of pets too. So we just got the trailer one of yes the Grinch. We all know the story of the Grinch who stole Christmas was interesting is when I was looking up the original one before we were watching the film was talking to some of our other friends and critics and they're like, yeah. You know, the other one is about an hour long. And I was like I feel like it would way short on that. They're like, I don't know pull it up twenty six minutes. Original one. The original cartoon is only twenty six minutes. Short like, it is breezy. Some of us. Remember watching it on TV? So with commercial breaks, maybe forty minutes but best twenty six minutes. They take a lot of creative liberties with this moving to me, I felt like that actually was a benefit one of which being the Grinch is not just the complete a whole that. He is in the original call he the in the original one he hates max. Like, you never really feel connected to this dog knows like you're just me. He's a grant just I would say, yeah. I I don't know. But in this one he'll mortars grumpy like he has more like more surly max is completely faithful and loyal and loves him. And he actually kinda loves him back, even before his heart grows, two times bigger like they actually have like a companionship a friendship that was good too. See because then it actually can of made more sense is not just this borderline evil person at the top of the mountain who hates old who's one point. He runs out of groceries. So he has to go down into town, but she hates doing. And of course, everybody there was like, hey, how're you doing? And they're just happy. It was just like a hate all of you. Keenan Thompson, though, the voice of one of the characters who is the grinches kind of enemy because this guy is just perpetually happy and it lives Christmas is Christmas displays bigger than ever. But I liked that depth of the character. There's also a lot of diversity in the who's like there are multiple Shays. There were some mixed who they're ruined my Christmas. Whatever whoville Keenan's character, you know, is black. But there were just that was again, one of those things that you never really think about and you're like, oh, this it's higher town full of white whose until that diversity was cool. The other interesting angle that they took is the main character that we follow. Cindy, Lou, whose mom is a single mom with three kids. She has Cindy and then set of twins, and she is working all the time. She was making them breakfast as you just going like single moms. Do you do anything you can to ride for family and Cindy's wish the thing is she writes Santa too, you know, she it is not about a present. She was like, I just want my mom to be happy. Like she worked so hard all the time. And we see that, you know, she deserves happiness to again, it was just a much better belongs this movie. So. It is what some people kind of a that actually complaining about so to move twenty six minute movie stretcher to what ninety yes a lot as three times as much. Let's grinches heart. It just grew three times longer twice as much. So it it is a little bit stuffed because you you kind of have to if you are filling with how to a feature length movie, especially if you wanna qualify for the Oscars handed me, they have future Lynn content. I think some of it. Yes. I think there was a lot of a lot of nice dancers. No. They didn't have then have future link content. There's a lot of padding. There definitely was a lot of padding. Unlike nutcracker from a couple of weeks ago, this truly feels like a family holiday movie nutcracker. I still do not understand why they drop that Halloween weekend. That's the weird is it was weird. Why the tone of it with like this like genuinely holiday family movie? One thing I forgot to say my nutcracker review. So I can bash on out a little bit more. After the nutcracker movie and the four realms I would have rather just gone to one of the fathom events that they have at theater Rican. Watch a real production of the nutcracker people. Don't wanna see roped up to the new carpet they won. But they should they should watch that and not knock knock on the four routes. Anyone wanna see a movie I'm not talking about that anymore? The movie was trash but the Grinch. Yeah, unlike that like it just felt like a family movie the theater was packed. When I say packed. I mean, more than I've ever seen one of the screenings from the first word of the last road. There were kids on laps. It was packed the kids in the theater loved this movie. Like, even the silly dumb jokes. Which of course, I laughed at also the kids use of rosy life. I give somebody gets pants that is the funniest thing in the world. Yeah kids, so which of course, I left it also. Max and the Grinch their relationship the Grinch kind of befriends another companion in this film. I liked their relationship. He names it Fred. It's like it just had a lot more heart in this movie than in the original. Yes, it is padded little bit bloated. But it was solid. I mean, I I enjoyed it. Even though it was the bloat didn't ruin it for, you know, not enough for me because I think those those moments in the tones that they were going like being a single mom like this is something in an animated movie that they're showing as like this is reality and the kids in a lot of households like that a lot of households. So dec- that onscreen though, just really cool. It did not really have an iconic song other than the, you know, raise like the coral version, but there's not really like a a hook like a I wanted to touch him with authority a foot pool. Pool. Like, there's none of that. It was just a movie so wasn't the Grinch. It is a great story. Yeah. So the full title the Grinch a the Grinch who stole Christmas store? Story. But not the actually it showed another interesting angle which was at showed in like as a little grinned. Jess all that clip super cute, and it kind of goes into why he might hate Christmas because we never really understand that before visiting back sore. No. But I liked when he was in the town. Nobody was like that green skinned monster. Like, hey, like, we know you live up on the hill by herself. Whatever do do you boo. So bam. My Fisher rating for the Grinch is a good solid Christmas holiday movie. I still feel like it was dropped a little bit too early. I'm still not sure why like drop those closer to the thanksgiving holiday. Kids are going to be out of school to just not allow theater space, my friend. Yeah. I mean running out of space the next two months is it's patch. So either get your coins. Now, or you gotta wait and wreck it Ralph is going. Ralph is going to show up and destroy everybody into the spider verse also Christmas. Yeah. So you're running out of space. You probably you're looking at like Wardrop this movie to maximize my profits in this is probably the weekend chose. Yeah. So, but it gets good from me. I enjoyed it. It was bloated. It was padded out from twenty six movie to ninety minute movie, but it's enjoyable to me next movie. Yes. Switching gears completely. Way different story to the Steve McQueen directed movie widows widows, go for it's it's about widows, a group of these in Chicago group of women who become the Chicago. Gotcha. Don, this is what I give for not resuming ahead. They die very early on. This really opens with them burning to pieces, and the film is called a widows for anybody. Like the dot dot called with us. So the the women are left with not they don't really know what this is why load about they don't really know what they're not friends don't get along. But they're all Russ into this situation because the money that Liam Neeson's character stole was from these two gang members. What are they gonna do the brothers the manning brothers? So the manning brothers played by Dina, ROY and Brian Tari, Henry and. The older manning brothers trying to run for all for like an alderman since I went alderman, which I had to talk to other people from so one of our other little critics older guy. Steve like, he had to kind of explain that to me because that is a term that. I know what it is still around. But nobody really like alderman was not even city council. It is just like he wanted access. He wanted to be legit. The thing that he had hells you want. You still was going to be like unim- property and Chicago and running things. But the thing he tells his brother is like look people who come after them have cameras and microphones you have guns. Not three seven. Did. I'm trying to get out of this looks like an old thri seven, but he needed the two million dollars to help fund his campaign to win. So we can try to turn some of this illegal crime money, legit Ness life plan. So he goes out to volative says you've got a month two weeks a month. Yeah. The beginning when a mutt. That like you got a month is Liam Neeson's wife. Yeah. This is wife, and he threatens her with the dog holding the dog that dog's going everywhere. Yeah. This of the dog. Yeah. That has to be a producer dog that dog. They wanted to get Zad credits for that dog that dog was supporting actor or actors out another gender about. How dare condone? But yes, so she ends up having brought idea. She wants to the names of the otherwise. And she finds he leaves her this key, and finds this this journal that has like all the high-seas ever done filed motions eleven style all schools say later on everything down and plans for new highs to break into what looks like a safe room somewhere. Right. So these women are tasked with finding this place. Find the building find the safe room and breaking into it. And getting let's that was five million two million to the manning brothers, and they'll split the remaining three million amongst themselves. Right. That is the plan. And it's crazy the opening scene of this moving where we see these guys die which again all make making out in the bid. Oh hoof. Those jarring affectionate the first scene we see in. This movie is a top down perspective of violators and Liam Niessen in bed just tongue in each other. And it was grabbing on her breasts. But not gonna ruin company list. Like, it's weird thing limb. Niessen like grandma vote votives breast in that he was though and the yeah. But that was the scene is referring to the opening car-chase. Yeah. Seeing the opening heist he'd out from side the van incredible. Yeah. Real like it sets the tone right away. That hone is not really repeated again until the third act like we basically have we opened with it and kind of closed with it. I mean between his them trying to figure stuff out and in Dan Lewis scaring, everybody to death. We've got Hewas brutal in this movie. You know, what I loved about the stuff that he did was he was always doing something super interesting like he was reading it was reading the bible in the starch book. He'd listening to like learning Spanish or something on. Yeah. His choices. We're pretty credible. And he has like this. Dagger letter opener thing that that is his kind of the weapon that he likes to use. He threw it out of his wheelchair. And then he leaves. He throws wheelchair fatherm. They'll get out of a wheelchair as he leaves the guy bleeding sets the wheelchair back up and then picked up the. Rosen farther away. Even when the scene where they beat up a certain person. He just turned on the TV. Yeah. This is down and turns it up. He's a very interesting character definitely making my get a nominated from villain list this year. Oh for sure for our Seattle films. Film awards. It was good intense. And also very contrast who brought her Henry's character. Who was like very calm it. How would intense as well? When he has that moment. Yeah. Threatened relatives. Oh, yeah. You crazy too. But also trying to the one thing I love is them talking about these districts, and it has seen what they tell him. Like, oh, you're just a block of Indus district. You don't really live in the hood. Isn't that show you it? So when he's having that conversation when a guys like the report on damning up confidence. Character was questions. He hops in his car, and he's having his very racist conversation about how he doesn't care about these people and the whole country is happening, and we're just following the car in Venice thing shot choice. And then they turn into the super nice neighborhood. And he's home and you're like, oh, I'll he doesn't live that far from from there. He says he does buys his that was an interesting visual choice that Steve McQueen did. So the the camera is kind of quote unquote, mounted on the hood. Yeah. We're gonna looking straight in. We're looking to Z. Your side. Yeah. And we see like just this neighborhood has kind of run down, and it changes. And as it turned like the camera. Pivots. We see them in the car. The driver who is black has gone fairly just going off on stuff. And then it pivots to the driver's side. We see his house. So that was really interesting framing device that Steve McQueen did Steve McQueen, his brilliant, man. Who this guy he knows what he was doing those of you who might recognize the name, but not sure why twelve years a slave. Shame won an Oscar for that hunger. Which hunger is a brutal movie. He loves working with fast bender. This was one of the first of our advert in show. Why not you had come from? Tone fast Bowman thumb is one of the one of the one of the high skies. This cast overall was stellar really go cast, especially and I had to write this down Cynthia areso to who I saw. And I was like I know kind of what she had been in before she has only been in one other thing as far as one of their movie, but she has won a Tony and a Grammy for the color purple revived 2016. She's good. She is solid and looks physically solid. This woman is in shape here. And so is Bill violated. They're all in shape. She isn't like violative some opening like this spaghetti strap top and just her shoulders or arms like this woman is incredible. See also the girl who played who ended up being like the call girl was her name. Oh, good, man. She was good. Elizabeth Dickey hair. Nobody shaming. I I wanted to give her a sandwich. Like, she is very first all she's like six feet. She's like super tall legitimately tall and one of the PR reps who was at the theater so that she met her a red carpet event. You'll like no, she's really that's all she is huge and weighs like a buck. Fifteen. Yeah. She's very very thin. Good. Yeah. Good really good the one that's the one actress in the move. I was like I don't know about Arbor never really seen anything. And I was like, oh, she's good. Yeah. Michelle Rodriguez only ones that make out seeing was only seen. I was like what is this movie, wait, which one? She's trying to figure out she's trying to get the plans where they don't know. What's on the blueprint? Oh, she's a little bit. The guy's house. Yeah. What is this? Yeah. This is going where they're going to cut that five minutes out. Yeah. That was weird. The only thing I was like that. So weird. But no, she was good. You know, she does them show about a redesign thing where she doesn't have a lot lines. But she's a lot of emoting and Yemeni and Michelle Rodriguez is Michelle Rodriguez. I love that same. They're making fun of all the Davis. Classics like, they're all doing impressions of her. And in the very old school way that person making fun of is right behind Joe's. Yeah. She was great and says like that dog does one line and all the women. She's kinda mean auto, she is a jerk. Viola davis. I mean, granted it might be her coping mickan mechanism might be like this horrible thing happened all of us. But this is what I need to do who knows because we see her sweet, you know, with Liam Niessen. We see that vulnerability when she goes into business mode. There is no stabbing and spoilers, but the scene when you allies like what's been the crux of her relationship with her her late husband you like oh that makes a hundred percent cents. Why things are messy for everybody right now? And that was that was a hard seen messy, it's messy. Yeah. Yeah. Some twists and turns in this movie. So be prepared for there were some twists and turns is worth I do feel like the there are few not he'll face turns. There there are a couple of turns that after the movie, I was like, wow. That was really cool. And then I started thinking about it. They didn't really make sense. We will have talked about it off mic because I there would be super spoiler. So. But it was just their their pieces of it that I taught think fit as tightly as other ones be a stellar cast a shoddy. Another her second original song. Yeah. This year after not making element of while. It's song a good for shot. Like good for. Yeah. She just pretty incredible Steve McQueen is great L, Robert Duvall. Now, God is he really racist? Those. Very believable. Your plan is real well, this older man who just just older we call dead. White guy was like, yeah. It was a little too close for comfort. A lifelong politician who son is now in politics, essentially because the family business, and he's doing the thing that old dads do which is trying to tell you how to your job and granted he had that job before before. But he is still Helen Colin for. Yeah. But he is at fifteen the homing the whole time he has a scene where he goes from zero to a hundred. Yeah. In a blink of. And it was like what is it was sharia he was good. You f you. What is so he was good? But it was just that was that was pretty good. I enjoyed it though thought it was. Yeah. I like the NFL inning was solid yet. Helvin indian? Yeah. There there's a that was definitely a turn turn that Nazi come so bang bang ending. All right. Yeah. Cool. So that was widows directed by Steve McQueen with a whole bunch people. Viola davis. Yeah. She was incredible. She she might not get nomination for this one. But you wasn't credible. As always Henry is really good, man. I love that dude. Get his his calm demeanor. As there's a specific scene with the dog, and he had just looking vile dead in the face just talking to her about what could happen. He does not get the money the whole time you see his hand going on the dog. And it was like, no, no, no, the tension of that scene in particular and it pans viola. And she just starts like kinda shuttering and her eyes start glass in over. And it was like that audio of part of that monologue. Ugh is on whether trailers it opens with him. Oh, does it. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That that scene was number here. I wanna see this. With sounds like he's being very common intense wanting his two million dollars. Yeah. Yeah. Cool so widows what is your official rating? Good, man. It's like heist movies. If you like a great cast if you like some very interesting, directing even the heist at the end is really directed. Well, definitely check it out. Check it out. Nice. I was not as impressed with certain parts of the hosting in this movie. Like, I did like how it opened with a big set piece closed. The big set piece some of the individual pieces, the kind of made it up for a little bit loose in my opinion of my Fisher reading is is good. I enjoy the movie came out of. And I was like I would love to see those particular women do their own thing. So yeah. So to goods for widows the. Last review is arguably the most insane movie that we will be the definitely we reviewing on this episode. Yeah, I'd be most the same movies this year. The movie is overlord over -duced by not directed by Jj Abrams. He kind of pulled a Gimmel doto presents which for longtime gambled at Tora was not directing movie, but there are a bunch of moves ahead. His name on it. That is what this is what is directed by Julius Avery but produced by Jj Abrams. Just a little World War. Two movie soldier American soldiers fighting Nazis twist. There are zombies or Greek yours alarm, I don't know what they are super soldier reject. Do soldiers are supposed to go knock out these control towers, so so that the air support can help for I don't be be the Normandy. Like, we all know that part of the history. And we were like that's what the that's what they're there to take take us radio tower at the radio tower at a church. Then once they so they of course, it is World War Two the the parachuting. Oh my gosh. Like watching watching that, you know, and we see every year we see at least one World War Two movie. This one. I mean, it had those same type of feeling of being like this is this was an insane situation that these soldiers had that clip is on YouTube of them parachuting L ruling the flight. Yeah. On the plane and his start can shot up and had a parachute into in France. Yeah. Yeah. No, thanks. Yeah. I don't anything to do with that. So once they they land, and they're kind of going through the town to try and just get to the mission calamity ensues the run to that girl. What's her name? The actress you are thinking of. Until the character Chloe Chloe Chloe who who's like scavenging close attention to their house. It's just her her nephew. And her aunt aunt who sick and she hits the germs as well. So they stay stay in his house. And then they decide to the got four of them. Yes. And they've got to get in. It's it's essentially them against like all the German soldiers. I don't know was between us in two thousand seats as anyone else who made it to the same point by the bridge and the main character. Investment as Boyce voice voice. Played by wasn't him. Jovan Adecco Adecco Jovan. Oh who know from fences soup played not offensive. Yeah. So Boyce who is simply the main Cattrall following. Goes to meet them and. German shepherd base, basically ends up e- ends up where he was trying to go into an unforced. But voting finds is like all these experimentation Germans were doing. He finds the woman was like who's heads attached to the spine still? He finds his his buddy on the movie who appoint got kidnapped is like hooked up to these machine with huge needle in his side zone. He gets his buddy gets back. So we go back and tells them this is what's happening to blow. This whole thing up. I like, oh that's not the mission. And you're like, I'm not sure if you understand like, what are you seeing you guys? I saw some stuff. Yeah. Whatever gotta go. What was interesting is again, it takes that. World War Two visuals. And everything that we're used to seeing, you know, the the Gestapo like the this these guys going from house to house taking whatever they want and being used to that the main and haggen est Wachner played by Pollux us back. Yeah. From game of thrones. Or people from gaming towns in this one of them was only for about three minutes. So he plays kind of a head Nazi of this kind of town who again is used to getting what he wants. He is so physically intimidating like we talked about Bryant Henry where that calm calculated intensity where certain points. He just looks at Clooney was like, no this is happening. Yeah. But and you're like, no like, and it was that type of thing his turn when he kind of starts to. Transform his character, then becomes much more audacious and much more just out there. But that kind of calm cool collected maniacal insane. Behaviors were still there the creature designs in this movie. So again, they're not necessarily zombies their test subjects, I guess, it'd be a better description is it a thousand year war, and he's dozen your soldiers, right, which this is not the first time we have seen kind of the design be Nazi type things like dead. Snow? Did it just iron sky, which is insane movie about Nazis on dinosaurs? And living on the moon. This is more crazy. But. Blodget CLE in innocence. Yes. In a sense where we can believe the during World War Two. The captain America program. They're trying to develop a super soldier, right? They were coming up a serum than injecting people with what happened sing what happens. I mean. And I mean, unfortunately, when you look the real world history of was a Joseph Mangla, the the real Nazi doctor who did horrific experiments. I mean, you look at something like this. And you're like this might not be too far off from what was actually happening crazy ridiculous. But what I mean? Yeah. This is the premise at Tel is believable as crazy as that is. But again, the the visuals of the creatures once we start seeing kind of what they are actually up to there's one you kind of mentioned before where he hears a woman screaming. Yeah. Pulls away his sheet, and we see a head and a spinal column and nothing else, and she is screaming at kind of like turns to him who chemists great like that. Yeah. Do me and Kenan saw yesterday. We're talking about the tracking shots in the film. After tracking him through this church. Like, you kind of had a really good sense of where he was at all times. But you knew where people were never none of felt super confusing or or kind of bogged down like you're like, okay. So at the end of the movie when a character is trying to get out of the building you like, oh, I know where he's at was. Oh, that's the door. He came in. Yeah. Gets outside. Okay. I know where he's at he's near whatever. And that's toll sat on him as he's like escaping this thing. It's great. I like the did that those were those were solid choices. Like, we're talking about even made sense. I mean, yeah, this was a bizarre that sound. This is a realistic portrayal of World War Two mission. Here. It just happened to be what they found during this mission and even chain even Boyce's character. Who's always doing things that are going to. You know, not did don't serve the mission. And when he's tell them close like, hey, man, three weeks ago. I was must have go far. I was on a farm. Yeah. Month mowing lawns. And when he got a letter. I let her and now I'm here and he act like a guy who was mowing lawns months ago. It is now in this war one. That was interesting, and I was trying to look up the Wyatt. Russell who plays Ford who is kind of the leader of the team. We don't from black mayor. Yeah. Played this episode. Those two character portrayals show the difference in not just kinda masculinity. And I was talking to my friend Izzy about this as well. She has the nocturnal emissions podcast and radio show. But just the different views of masculinity. Where like here you have four like the typical like American like demolition expert. I go. Yeah. Like a soldier then you have Boyce being like again, the re weeks ago, I was at home. And now I'm here, and like his timid nece and his like general version to even wanting to be there. But also realizing he is there like their situation. Do he's going to have to deal with. He doesn't want to kill anybody. Yeah. He hasn't really wanna do it. And then you you can see both of their ideas sort of mesh on both of them as the movie goes along once they realize again once they realize what actually needs to happen. Like if we want something to change. Our mindsets have to have to flip a switch. Yeah. Especially when they see because Bush's has a good heart. He does he just wants to save everybody. Does this? And he did save a couple of people the one that we talked about. We're like he had a thing attached to his side. And that never really gets resolved. You just kind of see that guy. Just I just need some stitches and here, I go, and it was like. There. There's a scene at the you look really healthy. And I was like, oh, no. Yeah. I was going to waiting gone. We might get a sequel out of this. He did look very healthy. He did because he was real real bad about he's not gonna make it this movie also pushes the boundaries as far as. I want him say pushes the boundaries after we saw Halloween recently to gore. Yeah. There's a lot of cringe. Yeah. The hook part. I was like, and we as soon as they go into that room. After seeing what else had transpired in the move house. Like, oh, no, no. No. No. No. And then of course. Oh, no. A lot of stuff. I was just cringing like, oh, that's a bad. Yeah. A lot of it was bad. Yeah. It was definitely Gauri plan to in their plan was like this sound planned. Yeah. This is this makes super sense that some and they never really developed the story as far as where that serum came from. Or what in the why they're doing what they're doing other than the thousand years with the grandmother the aunt on the don't really know what I mean? Yeah. We know she'll she was a test subject than they let Hannah go. Let her go click. Why let but. Yeah, it's all that as soon as we hear the ons bringing to the room. It was like she sick. That is more than thick. He sounded like she. Yeah. I like to other. Made the same sounds so. Yeah, new it was consistent. They're making the same. Come at noise down the design choices were really cool. So yet, even though it was. Yeah. It was it was gory and bloody and ridiculous. If you if you don't eat I watched it now, this is a one of the reps at the screening. So I missed the screening and I saw this on a different night. Yeah. I was talking to her at the next night about it. And she was like, yeah. You know, hungry for the movies hosing burrito. She was like I had to wrap debris to put it in my bag, and I was like eating while I watched it. I don't know. Terrible idea that not not not not ideal. But I one hundred percent enjoyed it. I thought it was a lot of fun. And it was like what can we save was ridiculous in gory? Similar like again before we started recording. We're talking about eighties action movies. And how again they were just ridiculous. Like when you look at predator. I love predator. But it was just goring ridiculous for no reason. This was the same thing. Like when missile for no reason, then Perkins. They just went over the top thing. Yeah. I guess that makes more sense. Because when you see somebody getting bashed with the butt of a rifle what we we see the motion. And we were like all right cool little show, then it's shooting. Like, okay, dude. You really need to see that. So yeah. Yeah. I love that saying to them. Yeah. There was a character. Switch. Yeah. It was like, okay. I know realize what needs to happen. It would have to happen. Yeah. The holding the lead up to that was also one of my favorites which. It was like, okay. I'm okay, I'm good like hot in here. Oh, oh, no. And also like it also a me of one of your favorite movies thing. Yes. Practical effects, very practical looking. There were definitely some CGI moments with some facial reconstruction. But there were like the some of the creatures. We will say that they saw like you can tell that they were interacting with some manifestation of something on their body. Right. It was not just all kind of ethereal and CGI. So those those superintendent good stuff so four overlord my official rating for overlord. Was good. This is one that it is a little bit hard to recommend because you have to like a surgeon. Yeah. You feel like a certain type of movie like this. But if you are a fan of horror, if you're a fan of border line kinda grotesque gore if you can handle that I think you'll enjoy this movie. And again, it was a solid World War Two movie, also, which I'm not a war movie fan, but it's a solid is literally aid war to movie up until you get inside the church there. Everything is to see sodas hiding out 'cause they have a mission to pull out. But once boys goes to the church like, oh, no, this is this is crazy than I thought any ramps up the crazy until the end, you're like, oh that was crazy almost to the very end. Everything is crazy crazy in crazier. So my official is good. What about yours? It's good. It's fun. The bunkers again. I'm not sure if I would call it. It's fun fun. But but I know I couldn't recommend to certain people. Yeah. And who like, yo you gotta see Lord. Yeah. Certain people in an our critics group were really upset that they had widows and overlords this, but I knew I was like I'm gonna go see overlord exactly I was like I will see widows at the press screening and then pay for oversee over this week. Yeah. I'll say it this weekend. And that's what I did. I went and paid. My hard-earned money to go. See it. And it was well worth every penny. I paid for it. I paid for it too. And that was weird. It was fun. I love film. It's fine. I'm not paid for moving awhile. That was like is this. What people do I have I certain movies. I will go see what my friends will go see again in pay right, which I'm I'm cool with I like it cool. All right. So that wraps it up for the reviews quick rundown. The girl in the spider's web. Tim gave a bad to it was a solid action movie. It was just not really in the vein of the original movies. The Grinch I give good to solid holiday movie. The kids are gonna love it. And I think this one will actually have some legs going into into the holiday season versus nutcracker, which I just do not really feel that record. Ralph is gonna be here in a couple of weeks that is gonna take the box office and then into the spider verse in December. So we have some solid animated family movies coming up. So I get a good widows. We both gave a good too. Steve McQueen directs the hell out of this movie. The cast is stellar from top to bottom an overlord and all of its brutal bloody insanity. We gave good too. Again. Yeah. It hoof. It will be not necessarily divisive. Yeah. People. I think are the gore that might be the if you're not if you're not into gore, don't watch it. Yeah. That's gonna be you're going to be upset for simple cool for upcoming projects. The next next week's episode of the podcast. There will be reviews for fantastic beasts and the crimes of Grindelwald instant family. I believe it will be next week. They have given us a bunch of screening options. I'm not sure exactly when it comes out. But I it should be next week when I will be dropping that review. There might also be some interviews coming up with some local filmmaking folks as well. So look forward to that. And then we are seeing a bunch of other screenings that I cannot really talk about because we aren't Bargo because it was award season. So it gets a little bit weird. And then definitely at some point this month. The yearly tradition. The about review special episode in November, which is no shame November. Where I talk about things that that I like and things that we like I have not figured out who is going to be on that episode yet. But no shave November is one of my favorite episodes. Shame don't have what you just like we're have roots talking about things that I think that we like goal. Tim worked people find you the people could even blog dot com. I forgot we're mid eighties podcasts were doing Cobra. And I lead next. That was crazy watch. And we'll try to figure out what to do for. They're going to do mostly action movies in November. And I mean like die hard like a Christmas movie. Now, we're we'll probably die hard to this year can Israel's put for gremlins. Christmas. Hell, yeah. Does take place during from? Yes. It does. Yeah. So we probably don't do mostly action movies November? So far we've done top gun this week left up the SOS top gun. Salaam movies. So we'll pick something else to do for action. Okay. I'm hoping I'm trying to get we're piloting for. We piloting forty eight hours, and I'm hoping to get in trouble little China. Both solid solid choices. Yeah. Big trouble. Little China is one of those movies lockers or again, similar to overlord or are cool. This is just like a kinda generic action fund with. They're like, what is very mystical. Yeah. It takes turn. Yeah. Thank you again. Also to my guest for the Vancouver. Asian film festival episode from recently. And then I will also be releasing because things got super crazy. John Devi the upset of about to interview from a couple of weeks ago few weeks ago. Now, he was in studio he has been an over forty episode of doctor who really great guy.
