It's almost Oscars time. Here's everything you need to know

"Chef Wolfgang Puck is previewing his annual Academy Awards menu. The world famous chef has been catering the Oscars for 29 years and he starts planning the menu about four to 6 weeks in advance. We make for years now our smoked salmon Oscars with Caviar and we make the chicken pot pie with black truffles and we make always different kind of ani lotes. Just as the Oscar nominees change every year, puck makes some changes to his menu. We're going to have a English try for a bit cherry and we're going to have fish and chips. The best way gluten free and I've been saying and then one SPS is done. We're going to have a beef Wellington. There will also be chocolate cigars and cocktails with gold flakes, puck is concentrating on the food, but he's also following the Oscar ceremony. It was really a good way to enjoyable movies. So I think Tom Cruise, maybe might not win, but he might win as they produce. And park smoked salmon is shaped like an Oscar. I'm Ed Donahue

The Obsession of Sin With Andrew Klavan

"You mean partially in a sense that some people of faith can become obsessed with sin and trying to wipe out sin and you're saying that it doesn't bother you in that way. You see it differently. I think they get obsessed with everything, but the question that they're trying to avoid is who am I supposed to be? Who was I made to be? What did God have in mind when he made me? There's not a single person on the Planet Earth. There really is not who does not know for certain he is not the person he was made to be. Every single person knows this every single person. You know, I always make this joke on my show when I say this will change your life, will change your life for the better. I don't know, because when you say to somebody, read this book, it will change your life. Nobody ever asks. You can go up to Tom Cruise, like this rich movie star. So read this book, you'll change a letter. Oh, good. So that's what I need. You think, why does Tom Cruise do? Every single person knows he is not the person he's supposed to be. And that's why he gets obsessed with what you're doing. Because with what someone else, and I think that it's just the easier thing to think about.

"Proud of you, my friend. Thank you. You must be exhausted, but you don't look like it. As Lonnie said, I've been here consistently for 5 years. 1200 episodes. It's been a wild ride, and we're gonna get to all that fun, but let's start off with Tom Cruise because he knows how to make an intro. He showed up on the red carpet in a chopper as you saw that he drove himself Francesca hit the Top Gun: Maverick premiere and Tom told her about his friendship with Lady Gaga and the moment that terrified him on set. Ew. Uh oh. Tom Cruise, come on over here. It is the man of the hour. When I tell you this movie was absolutely phenomenal. What is the craziest thing that you did or that you saw while filming? The craziest things that I saw was how close those walls were as we were going through it, you know? That was crazy. That was crazy. Heavy G's, we're going through it with the G force and those jets and flying with those men and women that know how to command those aircraft and to be able to fly to be able to fly into so much fun. Listen, Lady Gaga's new song is interwoven throughout this entire film. So bad. Tonight, but don't you let go of my head what's the heartbeat of Top Gun: Maverick? What's the relationship like with YouTube? Because I know you just visited and supported her in Vegas. Yeah, supported her. I'm just was entertained and she just blew us all away. I just look, I have so much respect for her. I'm grateful for her music and her themes in this. It opened up doors for this film and brings it matches and brings a level of cinematic emotion to this. And I was like, when I heard it, I was like, you're over there, we're over here, and somehow we are telling the same story here, and it just works in a way that took those moments and they became more transcendent. So I just think she's a force of nature. I love Gaga. I can't wait to take your Tom Cruise boot camp. We'll send you through that boot camp. Oh, yeah? Do you think I survived? Oh, you survived. I make sure of it. Yeah, I think you crush it. Thank you so much, Tom. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Friends. Let me tell you something. Mister Tom.

"Deepfake I did. So what's involved in the technology? How do you mean? Well, so in order to create the deepfake technology, your going at a bunch of Russian websites. So what did the packages look like that you downloaded? What did you have to do to manipulate them? Yeah. Well, there was a lot of code. A lot of code and almost no documentation. And we're just trying to figure out what it is, run it, and with these with these defect models, they take weeks to train and to get any type of results. So the first, the first time in the end, finally figured out how to run it like, oh, it's not giving any errors now. One big python repository, your downloading, and then that's it. So a model was running and somehow I saw some type of human face coming up. It was really blurry and really low quality low resolution. So I figured, let's start with the low resolution one. And I didn't have any GPUs. So for the low resolution ones, I was just using standard GPUs of my laptop and really bad. But once I figured out how it worked, by the time a few months later, I invested in a bigger GPU because I figured the creative possibilities and the future in this technology. So I started I trained the final project on my better GPU. And that's how I got to my first finished project, finished deepfake. So it basically downloaded this python package. You figured out how to do this. Are you a developer? Not at all. I'm really basic at python and stuff like this. I asked some help of some people I knew. What does this code mean exactly? But what I did do is I tried all the different settings, like what does this do? And if I enable this option, what effect does this have on that option? Because that's how it works. There's no guide. There is no documentation on what setting does what? It's all self explanatory. Is that the work? Yeah. Just experiment that you'll see where it goes. And that's it. Yeah, so did you have to learn some python? Basic python. Like really basic. There's more Internet research then. And then when you started working with that and started seeing what it could produce, you bought the new GPU. Why did you why did you buy a GPU to run it locally as opposed to get a service and do it in the cloud? I think I think it would give me more freedom on what and how to use it. Because I would be running a 24/7 and I think in the end, if you start counting and doing stuff like that, I think it makes more sense that I have my GPUs in-house. So if I'm doing a client in future, for example, and that's just something how I am personally. Then I'm certain that I have those GPUs. If for some reason the cloud is not working or they have a change of policy, then I'm going to have a big problem. So that's the only reason why I bought it myself, nothing else, actually. Was that were you concerned potentially because it's deepfake technology and there was some negative press around that that one of the hosting providers might shut you down if they found out that's what you were doing. No, not at all because the reason why I was doing what I was doing is because I was trying to change in narrative. Every technology can be misused in some way and there will always be people misusing it. But that does not mean you have to forbid a technology of being people being able to use a certain technology. So I wasn't thinking about that at all because I knew what I was doing was straightforward and was at a goal in a way. So yeah, I just figured, sorry, I'm losing my train of thought. That's no problem. I think I understand it. I mean, you weren't worried. That makes sense. So now the other question I have about the technology is, are you still using that same model? Not at all at the moment. As you know, a few months ago, I think almost a year ago now, I found out company and we've already started building a lot of tools and software in our own models as well. So today I'm not using the same stuff I was using over two and a half or three years ago. For sure. And not even what I was using a year ago. The technology is developing rapidly. It's unbelievable if you compare what we can do right now compared to what we could do a year ago. The evolution is I believe. So I can imagine in two or three years that will have full body avatars 3D and we won't even need an electron set in certain cases. Maybe two years is quite quick for a full body avatar, but it's coming. And it will be there soon than you think. Got it. So for the. Deep Tom Cruise, you created last year. You have new models since then. Yeah. How would it be better? Quality wise and expressions as well. If you compare, for example, the first four or 5 or 6 videos to all my other videos, especially the latest ones. You'll see a lot of difference first in face shape. You can see the first videos I'm using miles face shape like it's a bit more slim. He doesn't have the white shake some cruise has. And quality wise of resolution and details are a big difference as well. Color blending as well. And details. Everything's better. And expressions are getting better as well. I can confidently say that the big issue with a lot of deepfakes still nowadays with expressions. And I'm working really hard on that to get to get more out of my models and slowly I'm having more control of how. My deepfake model looks like and with that I mean is one of the problems with a lot of deep fakes is that it's lacking expression. So if I'm sticking out my tongue and I'm going to put in a deficit on top of it, it will do somehow do the same, but not as with as much as expression as I'm doing it in reality. So that's a big issue of a lot of deep fakes. But my models are getting better and it's almost one to one. How are you making your models better? Are you just going back in, you're feeding up more data, you do a more labeling. Working with my development team. So at metaphysics, we have a development team. We have a creative site. We're doing a lot of clients. And while we're doing clients, we're constantly talking about our development team, but this is what we're facing. These are the issues we're having. How can we solve this? Which tools can we make to make our lives easier doing this? And that's how we keep evolving in what we're doing. Don't ask me how we make these models because we didn't really know, but I know what I want creatively and how something should look like and that's enough to talk with the development team. Yeah, fair enough. So the other thing I'm interested in is the audio. So for the deep Tom Cruise, for example, is that a human voice actor doing an impression? Is it a synthetic combination? That's an interesting topic because we're moving there, we're moving quickly there as well. This is the impersonator's voice. And the thing is, his voice doesn't even it doesn't sound like the real time cruise at all. It's just, it's just the way he's saying it, like the way he's putting his how do you say editing English. How are we saying certain words? Yes, yeah. And but when you're looking at the videos, you just see the whole image, and you're so confident like, hey, this is Tom Cruise, especially in the beginning of when you didn't know it. This is Tom Cruise. And you just, it's like a puzzle. You just finishing the puzzle yourself. It's not worth no doubt. But if you start comparing the real time cruises files with miles as far as it's not the same at all. And I think what's really funny when we came out with the first few videos, there were some news channels in America, and there were so convinced, yet this is something this is something response. Like I analyze it like this is Tom Cruise as far as and we were like, how is this possible? It's not the same at all, but it's just a human mind who's making you convincing yourself that it is. Yeah, well, also the human voice changes every three to 6 months. This is a challenge with vocal biomarkers, right? So if you do. Voice passwords in those types of things. They're so sophisticated. They can tell that four months after you've recorded it, that it might work out the same person. Yeah. You know, I have a really shout out on the voice part. We're talking about we've been working a lot with this company named free speech. And they're doing voice they're doing voice to voice. And they're impressively talented, like they're so talented. And the things they can do, they can literally, while I'm talking with you, I can even make my voice sound like yours. And but they're also really radical company. They're only due projects when they have consent. But I heard some of their demos and they're really on top of it. It's not the same like text to speech. It's speech to speech. It's a big difference. And it sounds. In some cases, I can not hear it's fake. All.

"This is episode two 48 of The Voice pop podcast. My guest today is Chris yumi cofounder of metaphysic AI and one of the creators of deep Tom Cruise. We talk deepfake technology and entertainment business, memes, and more. Welcome back, voiced by nation. This is Brett kinsella, your host of The Voice bot podcast. We're here each week with the founders innovators, engineers, the designers, the industry leaders that are shaping the voice and AI markets, and one area we began exploring in depth in 2021 was virtual humans. We have a different take on that today with an in depth discussion around deepfake technology from one of the true innovators in the field. This discussion includes visual effects and also how those are married with the audio, either from a human actor or synthetic voice. There's a lot of AI going on here under the covers. And I know you're really going to like this one. And in fact, we also talk a lot about the ethics of deepfake technology, which I know will be of great interest to many of you. As we consider how these new AI markets are evolving, you might also consider how the existing segments are playing out. And on that topic, we have two recent reports from voicebot research that offer the most comprehensive analysis of voice assistance available anywhere. The smartphone voice assistant consumer adoption report and the smart speaker consumer adoption report for 2022 together provide more than 90 charts and a hundred pages of analysis on the status and trends of voice assistant use on mobile devices and in the home. You'll find breakdowns of the most popular use cases by use frequency, vendor market share, the rise of third party assistance, and mobile apps and voice apps. And how Amazon Apple Google Samsung and others are being embraced by consumers or sometimes not embrace as much as they used to be. If you'd like to check those reports out, go to research that voice bot dot AI, research debt voice bought that AI, you can also read some summaries on voice bot dot AI. You guys know how to find those on the website under market data. Now, to today's guest, Chris yumi is a visual effects expert that work for many years for entertainment and corporate projects. In 2020, he began experimenting with deepfake technology, sourcing AI models from obscure Russian websites and experimenting with how the techniques really worked. It's really a fascinating story. I love the origin story behind this. And I think you're going to really like that too. Well, this all led to a collaboration with an American actor that was doing Tom Cruise parody videos. And deep Tom Cruise was born, will actually have some videos on this, and I might actually do a video version of this podcast as well. So you can at least see that. So following the viral success of these and other deepfake videos, yummy cofounded metaphysic AI in mid 2021 and the company recently closed a $7.5 million funding round. Next up, deepfake technology, how to apply ethically and what's next,.

"No joy Reid had a blog. 2007, 2008, 2009, before she became a hostel innocent behead. And in her blog, she made a number of posts smearing, mocking, attacking, gaze. She implied that Tom Cruise was gay. Karl rove. She said was gay. The then senator of Florida. Chris Christie. Charlie Christie. Charlie Chris weaver. She's called him miss Charlie, miss charley, stop pretending brother, it's okay, you don't go for the ladies. And another one she wrote, now he's married to a girl, Charlie Chris is being sought for all kinds of good stuff. Quote, I can just see poor Charlie on the honeymoon, ogling the male waiters and taking to himself, God, do I actually have to see her naked? It included a joke with Chris having sex with senator John McCain? She implied that chief justice John Roberts son is gay. She also said this, quote, most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing. She also said quote, adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young post pubescent types. And in one post, she said, quote, does that make me homophobic? Probably close quote. Now these posts emerged after she got a job as a host on MSNBC. And guess what, she denied making them. She said she'd been hacked. She was a victim of a homophobic hate crime. NBC hired a forensic specialist to determine whether or not she'd been hacked. She wasn't. She lied. And later on, she acknowledged she'd posted them.

"Can you talk about how what you've learned in the last couple of years of kind of getting into this space of some of the political orthodoxies out there of things you're not allowed to talk about? For example, critical race theory or the trans issue, I'm sure you get some backlash for even talking about these things. Well, listen, I would say the one advantage to having been called all the worst names. You know, I've been called them all. I mean, and, you know, you sort of worry about that, right? When you touch these dicey issues, whether it's the trans stuff or the race stuff. And then to wake up one morning and see those names hurled at you on the front cover of every newspaper in the country. It's terrible to go through, but it's also quite liberating because the bad thing happened and you're fine. You know, it's painful in the moment. But then you look around, you're like, what's my world, my world's my husband, my kids, my Friends, my family. I'm fine. And now that the bad thing has happened, I feel totally free to talk about everything in exactly the way I want to because they've already fired that bullet at me and I'm still standing. So it's like the it reminds me of the scene in Jerry Maguire where Kelly Preston's character looks at Tom Cruise. And she's like, you can't hurt me, Jerry. I'm too strong for you. That's how I feel about the mainstream press. That's me with the mainstream

Tom Cruise Makes Surprise Helicopter Landing in U.K. Family's Garden

"To tell you this story about Tom Cruise. Landing his helicopter in the garden of just like a normal family in the UK because an airport was closed. This is a story that they're going to tell until the end of time. So he's shooting the seventh installment of Mission Impossible, and he had to make an emergency helicopter landing in Families Garden because the airport was shut down temporarily and the homeowner whose name is Alison Web. That it turned out to be an incredible day. It was surreal. I still now can't believe it happened so they have like a field. You know they have land. It's like they live in Lake Elmo or something. Whatever. She and her family were told their field was needed for an anonymous VIP, who was running late. And so, she said, I thought it would be kind of cool for the kids to see the helicopter land in the garden. And then Tom Cruise arrived and got out and they were like, Oh, my gosh, This is Tom Cruise. So then Tom Cruise said he went right over to the kids to chat. And then he said, Thank you so much. And then he said, if you if you would like the kids are welcome to go up in the helicopter. Oh, and so then the kids got to take a ride. In the helicopter, and they took all these pictures with him. And you know, socially distant and they were just like beside themselves with joy, and he was, like, really grateful that they let him

"In nineteen ninety-one jean-ann. Roger sat down for acuna with playboy magazine. The interview was nearly ten thousand words long. And you've really gotta read it. Imagine an intense couples therapy session. But with stories about marker sese and tom cruise thrown in it also gives a good glimpse at how gene and roger were getting along their relationship. Status wasn't quite thumbs up or thumbs down. It was more sideways in the playboy interview. They go out of their way to complement each other. But it's also clear that the years of squabbling between the two had done some damage and the things had taken a turn for the worse at one point. Jean says i felt strange from roger the last month to we've been drifting apart but as the nineties went on gene and roger sometimes awkward union would become less contentious. You get some points for being sixty nine enough. You will get something but you have to stay busy. You really have to keep your nose to the grants. I realize i put sixty nine on my list of things. I may never do again. You know like. I go into these thoughts about like. Are you ever gonna play like a real pickup football game. Like ever guy like a real out in earnest kind of football. Maybe probably never sixty nine the same day. That actually begin only way you can do it. That's right that's right. i'm in traction. All right it's close. But i'm feeling good here. We go our final movie. Our final final movie. I'm sorry i'm sorry. This next movie includes the music of journey bon jovi deaf leopard and other artists as they underscore a tale of big dreams in hollywood tom cruise as a part in it. Two thousand twelve rock of ages. Did you see this movie. I saw i saw his scenes. But i couldn't do it. I couldn't do it in this right. The a lot of people in this dancing with the stars. This isn't a tom cruise movie. What is percents. I'm all right jack. Essentially a featured cameo four or five. Okay so what are we talking about here. I mean are we talking about. We're talking about teens. Are we talking about in that. We know it's not fresh but by the poster is it forty. Seven or seventeen table is on the table for this movie. I feel like. I'm a little bit in the lead little bit marijuana going to try to protect it a little bit going to prevent defense again. It was a it was a was a broadway play appear on like it and then the music people like the song with a forty one. I hated this movie. Tom cruise to be fair was fantastic. You really was the lone bright spot and for that thirty eight. I just am feeling very negative today. I'm saying twenty-five in between you guys. And i remember watching scenes from an thought. It was the worst piece of shit ever so twenty eight percent. Well someone's right on. The nose again wasn't because i said twentieth and his name is still adam. Forty one for forty one percent back to single so good i. It's like i'm good at everything and this is just one other thing. You know what i mean like. I'm good at the same thing you know. Is that a monkey and cruise director. I'm also mad that you chose this as one of the tom cruise movie now. But in a weird way it's sort of diabolical. The push one in there. Why not cocktail or something. We've done this game anytime. You have crews films that this is the c. You've done it many times with the greatest. Modern living actor not the greatest. That's that's a movie star. All right last one last one as robert redford out. See this movie and inspired by their idealistic. Professor doctor has to do something meaningful with their lives..

"What's going on over there. Wait a minute. It's almost being abducted next thing you know. They got a target on their back but good and detective guy has to protect hot chippy. Going low that the plot of witness essentially exactly hot chick would notice everything back they now they noticed nothing by cobra is what made me when i heard you go on the show and talked about corolla are about co branding. The in our doubt that was it for me. I kid you not. I knew. I knew my buddy i was like i gotta meet him. Corolla just talked about one of my favorite movies of all time for our doing at the end of november. Want to go on a cruise with us where we are going to break down the movie. Not kidding will be broken down on the now we are going on a cruise and cobra will be broken. The greatest of all times great. It's a great move on like a thousand different levels. It's going to be a seven hour movie. It will alert eighty s theme of music videos in the middle of movies rates. Montage montage literally nothing to do with anything other than in other movies so it gets a pass all right. Listen with my minus five points in my off five there. I'm at. I'm at zero right now. Here we go all right up next. Tom cruise plays ray ferrier during an alien invasion. He's got to protect kids to rebuild a relationship with his children while aliens are trying to kill him in two thousand five's war of the worlds shockingly relentless movie. Yeah this one is where he worry. Yankees adam red sox fan. Yeah the yankees habits movie. I didn't like the fact that he had a sixty five mustang rent a racer hertz car and he was rebuilding an engine for it and it was rebuilding throw two out of two hundred nine and now that bumped you as well as one of my biggest probably would have been rebuilding it to eighty nine would have been period correct but the two eighty nine and also speaking of cars the electrostatic shock that the aliens gave a screwed up the sole annoyed on the star of all the cars so like no cars could be started here. The one minivan that. Tom cruise decided commentator. He told the guy to fix it. He said that's the problem with it and that one car got fixed. Here's the deal. Every car was rendered null and void but any car that was a stick shift. Could be bump started. You need the starter so now. This movie's twelve years old now or whatever it is back then twenty percent of the cars on the road were still stick shifts or whatever but if you had a stick shift you push pop the clutch. Start the car minus the starter. So it shouldn't have been every car should have been the lion. Share of charleston is also when crews. This is the famous time when he lost his mind. This is right around when he did the cow jumping up and when he did the matt lauer interview and there was a rumor that there's tons of tents as far as i could see onset to to get people to do. Yeah because he switched this publicist which when he went to the tents were wear on trying to get the extras and the crew and everyone to come read email scientology's and not know this supposedly now. How to Make Transportation Systems Eco-Friendly

"I recently watched bishop possible. Three and tom cruise. Who plays ethan. Hunt is part of the impossible mission force in this when he's actually getting married and as as a result is cover for working for the impossible mission force is that he works for the bureau of transportation. So he's had a party at. He makes this combat where he goes yeah. Traffic patterns is so crazy. Moves like an organism. It's very interesting and everyone looks at him. Like this guy's got a boring. So what i'm thinking about our listeners. Thinking about them and thinking about data could be something. That's like extremely boring to them. But give me a piece of data. That's excites you. The most and something that you think a listener just a casual person would find. Interesting comes to talking about transportation data well first of all that moves sounds awesome and my company is immediately going to have a movie night about it all. He's not boring. He sounds like the most interesting person at the. I love that one of the things that i hope is coming with cemetery. Buddha judge and president biden is demands that we calculate our transportation greenhouse gases which. We don't really do we kinda swag it. One of the concerns with that is that then it would be bad for rural places because rural places especially with highways are places where you have a lot of miles driven that has nothing to do with that rural place right people. Cutting through men dot minnesota. Dot used our data to do version of greenhouse gas emissions that attribute the miles driven to the destination of the car in the truck and what that does is properly demands payment so to speak from the cities from the fact that they calls all this driving to inform them and doesn't put disproportionate cost in carbon on the rural areas. That sort of data driven approach could reduce some of the future pushback. We're gonna see about accounting from transportation.

Rejection - How To Cope?

"Especially being a lebron and bang the waco defense scissors i would say i think we have a unique perspective or an unique ability to see all the points of us lebron's so from that angle. I've come up with this little theory that rejection can be reframed as seeing someone self exiting from your life. Wow i think this is overcomplicating things. This over complicating matters. Welcome to my brain. I understand that your theory is helping you cope with the situation and we like to find justifications to endure the pain or the rejection itself. I would like to give you just rights trade at your head. Something very important and i wish for you. Keep it for the rest of your life and beyond spread it. Just no it with every single cell in your system. So when someone's rejecting you lemme ask that. Why would you want to have anything to do with the person who apparently does not want to have anything to do with you. Why that's a great christian dicey but it doesn't really. I laugh the emotional attachment that you would have to that person in circumstances so what you're talking about jiming is asking a logical question to an emotional state which in turn helps you to change. Emotional state thoughts lead to feelings feelings. Need to behavior so When you change your thinking you will change how you feel about it and therefore you will be able to behave in a different way. Even the person who rejected you. But i am catching you in here. Because here's the thing when you tried to cope with the situation by justifying other people's behavior. It's a trap. it's not your purpose. it's not your job. It is not your life purpose to justify anyone else's feelings emotions actions spirituality. And i could go on the list. A-to-z it's not your purpose. That's one way of looking at it. That i'm justifying it but it's not about buying it for me about understanding why is happening because for me and i am quite logic based if i can understand something than i can do with much much. Easier and understanding human behavior is one of the great learning curves. I'm on right now. i appreciate that. It's it's a never ending learning curve. The problem i see with this what you're trying to achieve. I understand you correctly that you're trying to understand. Why now in order to understand their why whoever they are you would have to think like them feel like them have had the same experiences as they had an have had to give the same meaning that they gave to specific sections that they went through. So it's impossible. So why would you try to participate in mission impossible. Unless you're tom cruise. Then you can do that though. Hang on now. You're saying that empathy can't be achieved. We did not hear you say maybe you saw. I have not heard hang on. I can't let me expand because for me. Empathy is understanding why they do that. What led them to that understanding what it feels like for them to me that sympathy and that's the same thing as when i'm saying i won't understand from their point of view. Why they join that. It makes it easier for me. That's the same thing is empathy to you. Well i'm glad you clarified undefined. The word empathy for you in this particular context or in this context very important. I feel and i feel strongly that empathy not necessarily includes that i understand. Why another person's doing what they do widely do what they do. I do believe that empathy is something that i'm respecting the choices their decisions and i'm accepting them because they empathy when we are going on the emotional level. Let say i hit my foot here. Because i kicked the neighbor stock. I never would do that by. It's just an example. But let's say. I kick the neighbor stock because again it came over here and whatever chewed on my cushions on the lounger and now i hurt my foot and you may say to me. Oh i'm so sorry all. This must be really hurting. Do you really believe that you can feel exactly the way i feel about me hurting my foot including the emotional charge to it to really believe. That's possible i think it is if you've been in a similar situation implies don't believe exactly nari but i do believe that you can get to an understanding of what it's like them based on similar things happening to you. I believe you can only relate to how another person feels but you can never feel exactly how another person feels. Well not exactly. And why. I'm saying that is because even identical twins in the same situation growing up in the same household do not perceive the same situation at the same time executive same. Neither emotionally not rationally. I case let's say that given. But the actual point i think is that you mentioned it being a justification of their behavior and i don't believe that's where i'm going it's not a justification is an understanding that intern helps me understand. So that's the angle. I was coming from when i was speaking about trying to understand the reason for the rejection and why framed it to myself is self exiting was a way for me to not be so hurt and not take it personally but say from their point of view this is not right for them and their life and so they need to exit themselves. That makes it a lot less hurtful for me now. Maybe that is over complicating it. Sure i'll love you. That and i do like the fact that you've pointed out that asking you so flood questions while you're an emotional state can help change your state. So that's really clever. And i think something that is easily put into action in anybody's life. So maybe that's a great direction to go down here when we're talking about how to help how lisa's when they of feeling rejected which. I'm all about behavior. I do believe behaviors all that matters.

The Bourne Identity (2002)

"Hey everybody welcome to another prestige podcasts. Where we perhaps are stretching the definition of prestige I think so. I think this is a prestigious action film anyway. The bourne identity. This is a two thousand two movie directed by doug liman who you might recognize director of swingers. Mrs smith jumper edge of tomorrow american-made. He's the son of a bitch. Made us watch american made. We got all hyped up tom. Cruise in and mister bourne identity in its turns out that was very aggressively average flick. "Visual effects designer chris. You may melted the internet with his deepfake videos of tom cruise. Tom cruise swinging a golf club. Tom cruise doing a magic trick and he's been doing a lot of talking about how he did this but i want to know why so. Thank you chris for being here to answer that very question. Can you tell us a little bit about why you did this video of tom cruise a professional exercise or just showing the world that you can first of all. Thanks for having me. And second of all i wish is having fun. I always do these things to get better. What i'm doing. I want to be the best on what i do. And this was just a good death somehow went viral. And yeah. that's where we are now. That's a very expensive way to have fun right like you do this professionally and i think something a lot of people misunderstand about deepfake taxes. They think it's the same as face swaps on phones. But what you do. On a professional level ext thousands of dollars. Takes hiring a professional actor to do the tom cruise impersonation so like. Can you tell people about the barriers to kind of doing what you're doing because it's more than just fun. Yeah well the actor. I'm working with. I worked with him on another project before. And we were having so much fun like professionally so fun to work with that. He called me after a few weeks later. He told me my chris. We have to do something but just some fun. And that's what people don't. Don't don't underestimate. The talent is actor. Has he's professional expert. He's so good at imitating. Tom cruise the way. He's smiling the way he's doing these weird face with his hands. That's tom cruise. And then if you if you ask me on top of that like with a deepfake and effects is like a small hollywood studio doing these videos. So that's the and especially i also have the hardware and all these things to work with. So that's why it's it's looking at how it looks now like it's it's it's pretty good so it looks like took a lot of stuff to get that done like do you is the first time you've done something like this or have you been doing this for like ever. Well a been focusing. Hey i am deepfake for two and a half years now so it isn't the first time i'm also employed by mad. At the mets parker had sought practice. Were your studio so no ways for awhile. I have to stop you right there. Because i love southbound. I love south park so much weight. So you work there all my gosh like. I'm so jealous can you. I'm not sure if you're loud but if you can. Can you tell me about something you've gotten to do there. Well we released or curved videos a couple of months ago sassy justice. It's like these online. Tv show greatest regraded pilot and is a tv show where every character is a deepfake and donald trump But he's called sassy in our in our pilots east east fighting for justice and he Fighting for out to detect deepfakes like. It's so funny you should watch it. Like it's it's i'm honor to head to to the shanas a big south park and so that is that is an exciting news. I'm trying to think about. When i first started learning in hearing about this tax and i think it has to be honestly from a star wars movie a couple of years ago. Do you remember when rogue one came out and disney basically brought back to life the actor. Peter cushing i'll play grandma tarkhan in star wars rogue one and it. Was this moment where we're like. Are they going to be able to start bringing back actors from the dead. As long as i remember sign off on it and it's like a renaissance an art. I mean chris like it's got to be kind of exciting because you might one day get to work on actors that have passed away. Whose estates or okay with you using their likeness. Have you ever thought thought about that where it might go. Yeah what. I'm when. I'm using this technique. I'm especially looking for creative ways of using it. Not just swapping won't face with another but there are so many things can use for like for example. I'm using a restoration on this old music view of belton. French singer Best away seventies. So i'd deepfake a high-quality interview on top of that music video. It's all his face. And now i've got this four k full colored song of him a piece. It's it's the same man doing the same hormones and so cool just using this technique creative ways it's there are no boundaries and we just don't realize possibilities yet it sounds like you're really passionate about your and that's the thing i always admire people who just love love what they do and it seems you have that. Are there things about your work that you wish either regular people or people sort of interested in this stuff would know about it. Yeah yeah What i do my youtube channel. I'm always trying to show them. What's possible using this technique You can do so many things. Like i imagine. Like an if debut as you could even work on a planet of the apes and you wouldn't need to redeem miles it. Wouldn't he make up. You could do it all in deepfake like there is so many. That's what i try to show to be. Bashes tried to show the glimpse. It's possible and i know that that isn't there yet. Still needs time to get better and an unknown of getting there and you see the potential. And that's what i try to show people and if possible yeah I would like to work on fun stuff as well chris. And you kinda talking about the potential and recently that there's kind of like no boundaries to what can be done here and i think the boundaries thing is what scares people Regulators are looking at how to get involved in deepfake technology. Governments are trying to figure out how to protect against deepfake scandals by militias sort of types or individuals. So i guess. I wanna know not what should governments do. But what would be an overreaction in your mind by governments like what do you think that would be too far in terms of protecting against deepfake scandals and stuff like that well. I'm afraid director just going to talk about banning technology. Altogether like that doesn't make sense. Every new technology is going to scare people and they're always going to eat people miss using this technology. So so i'm just like like i talked told you before the interview like by all these articles about someone is doing a deepfake like every team like even if it's followership. It's all called a deepfake novel. Because that's what people want to think about deepfake it's always a fulling people and.

"I know what he's it blows your mind when he shows up the first time you see it. You don't know him. You have no clue that he's even going to be in the movie and then when he busts on the screen immediately. You're laughing the whole time and he. He's plays a big part at the end of the movie. Like when it's he's great. I thought about putting on my list heart quit. Because he's not the type that makes fun of himself or does the corner trying. So that's why might yeah. I remember when you're talking about quality of movie. I mean. I didn't include it because he's not a main character but quality movie on that is really high. That would be it really. If i'm looking at the quality of movies that tom cruise says benon period. That's you got in the right place. I just didn't consider it because he's got a small role. And that's but robert downey junior in that movie and jack black with a small hole role. Now you're the line air. I just gotta keep throwing out there. I didn't say small. No but you said detailed bagel glory glory. He was started about the denzel movie. They you can buy it at the store right by i. I i you gloria on your list on my top ten war movies i did have it on there. It's so good. Love number four. Jerry jerry maguire. You can't not like this movie if you don't if neither of it. Yeah are you serious. Did not make the top. Oh my gosh. I loved this movie. Not show me the money. Show me the money. The gooding junior won an oscar for this movie. Tom cruise was more of a supporting actor in the movie but no he was not even main character. The movie by far is jersey on was about him. He's owning flirting. Because i feel like cuba gooding junior was like the main characters are ever more learn is barely in the movie. That's not true. He's in the movie a lot not even close to as much as time okay. He's not as much as tom cruise but he liked chewed up. Scenery like crazy. He did and he was dead. You're right but it is. Definitely he is not the main character. Jerry you're right to make character in that movie and i love it and it's a good movie. It's a romantic comedy. And i enjoyed it. Yeah i mean a little kid. That looks like me. Just because he has glasses doesn't mean looks like you looks like grady when he was a little baby and it also says jerry and the tight. What's the name of the chick that he's dating the beginning movie that he's on the chair in the kitchen the sex of course he'd point out out because there was a kid when i saw the movie is ninety six and that was a very shocking to me Kelly preston kelly preston. That's that's wasn't that john travolta's wife. I think it still is right or did they get divorced. She died cancer. She did. I think so i did. I not know that. I didn't july this year. This year. twenty twenty. I didn't know that holy smokes that blows me away. Dropped a bomb on me here all right. Well let's move on from that into my number so you is wrong. Didn't like jerry maguire. She was also a scientologist. So was so. Is john travolta. Travolta was the original. Tom cruise but yes had too many scandals so they had dumped them for nixon. My number theory is a masterpiece of a movie cameron. Crowe one of my favorite directors in the world.

No or love this. Oh yeah big time. And it was in. I think in england. Do you got something. That's making that like chatter. I don't he was out of the set of mission. Impossible or something in england and some of the guys that were like editing. Like the dailies didn't have their masks on and he had a problem with that. He flipped out. I mean he was cussing. He was screaming at them and he was going on and on about how basically everything in the world revolves around what they're doing right now and they're able to make movies because of the precautions they take and the whole world depends on them for entertainment and these troubling times. Right just okay. Way up there on his horse yeah. He threatened to fire everybody. He sees them without it again. They are effing god. That's what he said doesn't look as bad as the christian bale tirade. I've seen the christian bale one but.

"D bag Tom Cruise is gonna lose has already lost his mind. Tom Cruise quote has splashed out has splashed out on to co bid's secure robots. I think that means spend a lot of money. On two robots, robots, people, Mrs the 19 forties robots for his Mission. Impossible seven movie to test the crew off his rocker and make sure the robots will make sure that people are following orders. Can I really quickly before? We you'd say anything more about the robots, and I just I just want to point a couple things out. One is that the headline is that Tom Cruise has splashed out the money to buy these robots. No. Tom Hanks know what the Church of Scientology has purchased These? Thank you. Tom Cruise's behalf actually buy that for me Anything the money stolen from members of the Church of Scientology Seiss because it's a tax exempt. Purchase? Yeah, I just want to be really clear about that, but but it will be attached to him. So he looks like a hero. Did he get these? You know what I think? I think these air just like room buzz that he like. Oh, masking tapes like one of those monster, mama, this thermometer on it just beeps bee. You better watch out because Tom Cruise Robot's gonna get you know, it's not the Boston dynamic robots. If you seem for you, the ones that killer animals who also dance in tandem, it's quite fascinating. They made these robots dance so that they would seem less scary. I'm like that doesn't seem less scary. But let me tell you the actual story. So, according to the sun, take that for what it's worth. He is making sure that his crews quote behaving themselves and following the rules with sophisticated robots that will patrol during filming. And can also test the staff. For Corona virus. No. It's not a thing like this story. It's not real, because that's not if they don't have covert testing robots again unless it's like just quick, sharper image or like Tommy Bartlett's robot world, circa 1984. With every robot Corona virus test. It comes with a 10 minute foot massage. Terrible news for you. Apparently, there are covert testing. Roberts. OK, but what did they look like? Pray tell. I'm working on that. Okay, You're Googling something. I take it. They use something like this in Singapore. But this I don't think this is the kind of robot that no, I imagine that there's something wheeling around on like wheels. That's like people proper people. Spit into this cup and then the cup wheels, You know, then it goes off to some Actually with you on the Roomba situation. Yeah. That's that's that seems more likely. Actually, What's very likely is that there's like a member of the Church of Scientology that has been duct taped to a room. But that was like a box. It's a cardboard box and a hand comes out with like a thermometer. It and she shoots the thermometer in his forehead. Would you like a free personality test touch these camps, But everybody thinks it's a robot. It's just painted. So actually the only person who thinks it's a robot just Tom Cruise. Like he's paying them like 25 cents an hour, because that's what they do with the Church of Scientology, and he's like, act like a robot. Okay, Gosh, do you think I have come to test you for covert 19 spent into this cop? Don't know. He probably has people like that all over his house. If he thinks that he has robots, but they're just take this personality like nuts and bolts. Hundreds like you. Rosie from the job. Yeah. Okay. Do you wanna know who my d bag is? Yes, I absolutely didn't work. You have to think about it so long. No, I wasn't. I was just trying to breathe. Okay? We'll wait. Don't do that on this show. Tyra Banks, Tyra Banks. You guys. Oh, my gosh, she, you know. I don't know. Tyra Banks is like One of those people who thinks too much about what she's going to do on social media in a wait, and then she's like I'm gonna be super inspiring and helpful, but it's really just self serving and ridiculous. Okay, I'm going to read to you. The caption of Picture she posted. She posted two pictures side by side, You know, like one of those, like swipe, swipe to see whatever Okay, ready. I'm gonna read it in the name and describe what you're looking at. My retouched calves before and after we all have something that we're insecure about one of mine my skinny calves. Maybe I'll incorporate more calf exercises into my 2021 resolutions. Laugh till you cry Emoji. You and I know that the last week you and I know that will last for just a week, huh? Hashtag love the calves that I have. What body part? Are you learning to love? Okay? What Thank you, my spleen. Then I want you to look at here. I'm gonna actually put the actual here's the actual instagram link. Don't you open it up and then I want you to look at the pictures. With the Photoshopped caps. Uh, do you see any difference? What? What am I looking at? Her cab number one. He hates her cab. I don't see her calves, and there should be someone haves and they had tol. The only thing that's been Photoshopped in this picture is her skinny calves, Bradley and you don't see it. I don't see it. I mean, you barely see it. I don't What am I supposed to sell him? The first part. Your calves are behind you. Yes. Yeah, yeah. These air her shins that we're looking at you. I was like, Oh, no, maybe the cab. So go all the way around. Maybe an anatomy class would be helped. She got some skinny cabs like, you know, I do think a man Like you always want to look at a man's cabs, because that will tell you a lot about the rest of the man. But I'm assuming the same is true of a woman. Is that an old adage that yeah, from the Saturday evening Post. I always look at a man because if he has well defined calves, I mean, he pays attention to like chicken legs. Yeah, Yeah, I like chicken legs. Anyway. I just This was one of those. I saw this getting Catholic. I don't tire up. Stop. It's it's well, Here's what it is. Wait. Oh, I'm sorry. Do you have a diet? Dr Pepper? Are you thirsty for? You Thirsty? No, but Tyra Banks. Oh, thank you Quench. Yeah, like she posts. A photo with her boobs like the first thing you see is her boo on her thighs you like and then she's like I've always hated my cows, Baby Baby, baby, baby baby, that's like an attempt to be super relatable right? Like how women All women hate a piece of their body. Let's talk about it. That's that's that's like thirst, trapping by means of insecurity, like get everybody else to focus on their own and security while they marvel at your breasts, and then you know, as you scroll through, there's well, most people in this case are like I don't even see the difference because guess what?.
