Not just we overhype the the preseason I mean, I think both those situations are going to be talked about a lot, Dan and you know, it's getting harder and harder for a coach like Matt Nagy or Kyle Shanahan to try to do the right thing. For a rookie quarterback picked in the first half of the first round. You know, uh, it's you know, the other day. I thought that, uh, you know, in Chicago, it just Was an exclamation point. On how, uh and and again this is this an exaggeration? Okay, But how it's almost like mob rule is trying to pick the quarterback, you know in Chicago, and it doesn't matter if Justin Fields is ready. I have no idea if he's ready or not. No one knows. But, uh you know, dammit, We picked the guy 10th or 11th. Overall, whatever it was, and damn it. He's gonna play We picked. We traded three ones to go get Trey Lance dammit in San Francisco. You know he should play instead of Garoppolo. I mean, it's like I wrote last week. All you have to do is look at all the guys who didn't play or barely played his rookies. Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer. I mean, all you have to do is look at all those guys and say Man isn't the idea to get a quarterback for the next 15 years not to rush him in maybe before he's ready. Um, look, it's possible. Patrick Mahomes would have played great as a rookie, but you know Alex Smith quarterback from to the playoffs, probably his best year in the NFL. And and so you know. And now Andy Reid looks like a genius. I just would say to fans, we just relax. You know, a guy doesn't have to play this year. He doesn't have to do what is best for a player. Long term. I'm not saying you absolutely should sit him. I'm just saying that it's ridiculous that you know that people in the in the second preseason game or booing the crap out of Andy Dalton. I mean, come on, Just stop. Yeah, I'm wondering, but it's like the Jets. The Jets had a great weekend nominee. Teams go. We had a great weekend and it's August. The Jets are desperate for anything and Zach Wilson throwing a couple of touchdown passes. Um, that's a great weekend for them, but it feels like their philosophy is we drafted, you were playing you. There's no reason to to have you ease your way into the lineup. What do you What is your philosophy on that that playing a rookie quarterback or letting him kind of ease into the lineup? Well. If the Jets had Andy Dalton there, Jimmy Garoppolo. I doubt that Zach Wilson would be the absolute No doubt Starter. Look at the backups for the Jets. James Morgan, Mike White, Josh Johnson. Those guys are not household names in their own household. And so you know it, you know? Look, I think Joe Douglas is a really good general manager. I like them. And I think he's doing a good job building up this team, but I think it's a terrible mistake to not have a backup quarterback. You know who's a veteran? And I'm sure that they made a call about Nick Falls. I mean, Nick Kroll is going to languish. As the number three in Chicago Unless somebody makes an offer that Ryan Pace thinks is good enough. You know that that he would take, but but again. It's a totally different situation. Who else is going to play? You're going to trot out last year's fourth round pick James Morgan to to start the opener and to go into Carolina and play and that's why it's almost been preordained from day one that Zach Wilson was going to play. Yeah, I just worry the rookie quarterback gets into bad habits or, you know, Sam Donald was seeing ghosts like you get into a situation where David cars, the quarterback that always comes to mind. I don't think any quarterback in his first three years got sacked more than David Carr did And I think that your confidence level gets shot. Um, you know, you get into bad habits there. That would be my concern with Zach Wilson. The expectation level is higher than than on any other quarterback. Even even Trevor Lawrence, like, you know, it's New York. It's the Jets. They expect greatness out of there. And and that's why I thought Can you get Nick Foles? What's he going to cost you if you get him or Andy Dalton? You know, maybe that's the route that they take out of this group of quarterbacks, which one plays in a playoff game first. Uh, Trey Lance. Just because he he's in my opinion of all the rookie quarterback, so we're going to play fairly early, whether it be year one or two. Trey. Lance is on the best team. That's I mean, you know, the the Niners got and again look. Time will tell if Trey Lance is good. Trading to future ones Forum plus using that pick on them. That's a huge investment, but I think they can afford to do that, because of Guys like Fred Warner in Bosa and a good receiving corps. I just think right now they are built to rise. With a young quarterback to maybe take some aches and pains with them, But they're really, really good team. I think there are easily a top 10 team in the league right now. The teams that have good off seasons are a little lucky with injuries in the fall but our good will will will win and usually those teams that have winning. Bad off season lack of participation. You doing squat during the fall. You're just not players are too good so i don't think there's a there to me. "His timing is everything in life. Here is my in depth analysis of the weekends overall, 14 men say what? Not long we've seen longer halftime performances. I don't know the exact time of it. I'm guessing here, but here is my in depth analysis of his performance. Mm. That's about it. I'm not going to say, man. Did he blow it, Michael? What was the NFL thinking? Putting him up there? He's not as exciting as what you usually get it half time. No. He's a solid performer and needs got one great song that he played on finished up with, and that was as expected, pretty darn good. It is a major production and kowtow to him and the NFL on everyone who's involved with it, And I'm sure they contract Ah musical production people to be able to put on as big a show is they do and and that seemed up to snuff but blew me away. Not even close. So if you want to do your quick critique of either the verse hand for the football game, and I give you some thoughts on that coming up in just seconds or the halftime show with the weekend I'm sorry. He's just not even in the same zip code with some of the other people that they've had performing over the last several years. Bruno Mars. I know they've already tapped into him a couple of times. But I would be okay. Bruno Mars played every year at halftime. He's that good that I'd be okay with that. And yeah, he makes the weekend look kind of pedestrian, which I think was A good way to describe this year's halftime entertainment performance. Now pedestrian would be overstating what to keeps brought to table in the first half of the actual football game. The Bucks lead 21 2 3.5 21 6. Give me but it did make that second two ago. Esso. It is within a two score game. They're down 15 points right now, And we know Patrick moms is capable of generating that kind of offense. But not off the look of what their first half offense was. What we are looking at is and it is about his ugly. A performance in the first half of football was I can remember. The Kansas City teeth were flagged eight times for 95 yards. Eight penalties and almost every single one of them, you would say was big. It wasn't like, all right. They got second in 11 and a jump upside. Still second and six gives him a better chance to move. No, no, these were all fucked. Not all but a lot of penalties, led two first downs. Extended drives gave them a chance to take a field goal off the board instead. Get a touchdown. Just completely undisciplined play by the cans and keeps in the first half Shame on the players, but also shame on Kansas City's coaching staff, including the head coach Andy Reid. Really poor performance by Kansas City in the first half to penalties that were called that were complete and utter retaliation penalties. A Tampa player goaded a Kansas City player into taking an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty or lay dead penalty. Chris Jones on a plate trying to get the Brady uh, the Kansas City center. Does a good job of after Brady had gotten rid of the ball, getting up underneath the shoulder pads of Chris Jones and tick him off Jones, then retaliate and goes to the face. I don't know if the referee saw the first part of the skirmish between the two players he may or may not have, but he may have overlooked it because it wasn't to the face. Chris Jones responds with a shot to the face. Here comes the flag. 15 yards on sportsman like the drive continues for the box and the Touchdown that they got right here. At the end of the first half, which can cities drive stalls. They settle for a field goal. They run it on. First down, get all of two yards. And can see takes a time out. Then they get about five or six yards on second down, so they're looking at third and short can see takes time out again. The Patriots only have one time out. Patriots may soon have to deal with their first Antonio Brown issue and it has to do with his number
"We have to talk about the biggest storyline in the NFL Antonio Brown as it looks like the saga for Antonio in some ways is finally ending and in other ways. It's just beginning for number eighty four as Antonio uh-huh Brown signs a one year proved deal with the New England patriots and it's hilarious because there is so much speculation when all his shenanigans with the Oakland Raiders for going on that really it was just a grand master plan for Bill Bella check to somehow land the all world talent wide receiver in sure enough he gets released from the raiders and later that day signs deal with the New England patriots another huge weapon in the offense four. Tom Brady and this has shades of what Randy Moss did did when he was with the Oakland Raiders. Moss spent some time in Oakland during his games he played for the raiders. You could just see that the big hall of fame wide receivers hardest wasn't in it. He wasn't really producing for the raiders he was now running routes with this full heart. You can just tell that he wasn't the Randy Moss when he was sooner in Oakland and then he goes to the Patriots under Bill Belichick and has a career year a record setting year with Tom. Brady Brady threw for fifty touchdown passes does that offense was just a cold plays away from being the first team to go perfect nineteen in Oh as they were trying to catch the seventy two dolphins they lose of of course the super bowl to the tremendous comeback led by Eli Manning and the New York giants. Is this going to be just like that. Are we gonNA see a patriots team. That could possibly go undefeated after Sunday night. That's a very real possibility that defense for the Patriots absolutely shut down the steelers and and if they know they're gonna get just a boatload of points on the offensive side of the ball you know Bill Belichick GonNa give all of his time and effort to making sure that that defense is ready eighty each and every week for their match. Make sure everyone's healthy ready to go that the scheme is right and we very well could see a run at history again in New England might right sound a bit presumptuous just in week one but the steelers are a classic. AFC favorite especially when they had the big three Bell Brown and Rothlisburger now with two of those three pieces Gone Smith Schuster looks to pick up the slack for Antonio Brown but now yet to find someone to pick up the slack for Juju at that wide receivers Chris to spot you also gotta be be frank here that James Connor is not living on bell. We saw that in that game Sunday night so the steelers were still a good test defensively civilly always are fantastic and brady made them just look like a peewee football team out there as he had no problem going for thirty three points in that game and pass over three hundred honored yards. You put a be in that mix with Josh Gordon Julian Edelman the running back tandem of James White as well as Sony Michelle is going to be a really tough challenge to beat this patriots team and because of that you who who's to say I mean they they could do it. They could do it you. You can't say they can't there. There is a real world possibility with the addition of Antonio Brown that the Patriots could make some history but now we gotta look back at how this came to be an Antonio oneal brown you could tell really from the Gecko once he got into camp once he started running some routes with Derek Carr in this raiders offense something clicked in his head that he did not want. I WANNA be in Oakland. I mean he did the cryotherapy happens and you chalk that up to operator malfunction with the frostbite on the feet then he goes on this insane escapade with the helmet trying to get all that taken care of in think in trying to use his old helmet. He's used forever he. He's had six months to do it and he doesn't think that's enough time to find a new helmet. I mean he's not looking for new kidney. He just needs a helmet you. There's ways to figure that out to make it fit and make it. It'd be comfortable everyone else in the NFL did it why couldn't he that becomes an issue. He's stays out of training camp. He doesn't do the walk throughs. The helmet issue did not mean he couldn't couldn't practice with the team he did that on his own accord and then he goes after the general manager of the raiders after he gets fine for actions he knows our final. He did them with that in mind. There wasn't like that fine just came out of the sky on him and Mike mayock gets verbally costed by Antonio Brown he goes on a barrage. I use of slayer of slurs cuss words to Mike May Auchan your raiders still still planned on playing him in there Monday night game against the broncos broncos that says a lot about the raiders as an organization that they were willing to take this abuse from Antonio Brown and take all this Prima Donna behavior behavior that was happening with Ab and still play him Monday night when he's barely practice with the team we talked earlier in the season here here on this show about how Antonio Brown by taking all this media attention has helped the raiders rookies developed because they haven't had to deal with it and that's still true in the lot of the raiders rookies have talked talked about in themselves and the second year players have said by having Antonio Brown. It's been nice that they haven't had to deal with the media coverage and hard knocks and that was really a lot more centered around Antonio Brown but he's also had a terrible example as an a way to conduct yourself as professional with what he's done with the raiders clearly didn't want to be there show the the reaction video when he finally gets released from the raiders and all of that finally goes down and I think the raiders are better off for it you if you're going to establish a new culture in Oakland. You can't have this going on in your locker room on your sideline. You need to get Antonio Brown out of out of there if he wants out all the better let him go you cut your losses just saved a lot of money by voting that twenty nine million that you would yet. You'RE GONNA pay him over the three years Antonio Brown you get your wish you go you get to play for the Patriots I think both sides can kind of wash their hands of the issue but now the rest of the NFL has to deal with the Patriots and Tom Brady having Tony Brown as viable and very real.
