"Runway, but also you can see the runways as well from there. So awesome. Great plane spotting. I haven't had a chance to make it over to the new midfield international terminal, but that seemed to have gone up relatively fast and I've heard some good things about it. Can you share any more thoughts on that as a project? Yes, we're extremely proud of the new concourse. We actually call it now the west gates at Tom Bradley international terminal. And it's a state of the art facility. It's the best terminal that we have in our airport right now. And it's really coming with great reviews from customers and airlines alike. Wait for the Delta plane to take off. If people want to learn more about the LAX airport, where should they go? So they should go to fly LAX dot com and you'll be able to see all the information about what we are doing as far as information on how to travel, but also information on all the projects we're doing. You also could go to LA dot org and we have a lot of information on that site as well. Great, thank you so much for spending a few minutes and telling us about the modernization project here in LAX since this is my home airport. I care deeply about and looking forward to some of the improvements coming along. Thank you so much for having me and wish you all the best. So here we are, the giveaways just wrapped up. What do you think? It was very exciting. I was very happy to be here and see all those giveaways. Those very cool. And did you win anything? I did not win anything. I was hoping for the Southwest 7 27 model. It looked very cool. I myself was going for the boom model. Except. I think the airplane God said something against me, my ticket number.

"I was just reading a news story here. There's been a shooting in Norwalk. You on that? Debra? Do you know anything about it? No, I saw it on come across the wire. And I, I ripped it and read it. And there's been some shooting in Norwalk will get more information on that. Oh, yeah. Okay. This is a pursuit that ended and the guy ran away. He parked his car in the middle of the street, and he ran away. And then he's been. He's been arrested. Oh, is that right? Yeah. They said that he's been injured. Okay. All right. Well, there may or may not have been Well, No, I think there was a shooting. I think you're right. But it was also a pursuit. Yes, all right, kind of Started. And Sandra Cray a crazy weekend, possibly here, Right? That's the chases and mischief. Mischief makers out there speaking, Mr Makers Steve Gregory is with us. Steve, How are you, buddy? What's up? Hey, happy Friday. I know you love that, pal. You know, I had to go. I'm just sitting there. You made me spit out my dad Cook when you said I'm looking at the wires and I rip and read on Then I'm like I'm waiting for teletype noise in the background because that doesn't exist anymore. Hey, doing buddy. I remember those days though. He I do too. You know the l. A City news service? Yeah, because you could change it. We changed the story. We had a beautiful guy working for us. I'm not going to say his name because I don't embarrass him. But we changed the story. Remember when it was mayor Bra Bradley Tom Bradley died. And then we change the story that said Theo FBI has arrested Tom Bread Bradley posthumously over a dispute with a financial matter, and we gave it to him and we got a call the mayor's office and see if he was arrested. Posthumously goes what's possibly and I said, Well, that means he's arrested after he died and see if that story's true. And he and he called three or four people in City Hall. And he goes buddy because nobody knows anything about it. Oh, my God, That's that's so cruel. That's great. Yeah, I love people on their toes. I lived to tell the time when you have to come in, and that's what you had to count on. And and then if the guy or the gal overnight wasn't on top of stuff is back Where on when I started. They have to literally rip it. And then they put big clips upon the wall. And so you have to do you have sports entertainment news? Whatever, and things are invariably screwed up and in the wrong spots, and then you have to go on retyped and everything and met me and I'm telling you, it's just I'm surprised any of us got any news on back in the day. He was crazy. And then carts. You know, we had all the cuts were on the carts and 90 year old radio guys right now we're going to help me more. You know, I love that more, please. But no. What we embrace the digital technology. Which brings us to two Now. That's right now. Well, thanks. Now today. Hey. When these millennials on there are now becoming like quite the I guess they're being coming quite the stars not only making millions of dollars doing goofy videos But they're now going to be invited to join the Screen Actors Guild after a union Wow and they will be getting full benefits. It will only be those influencers and they what they say. Now it's a Because of what they do is considered influencer generated branded content. Right, so they conjoined after what you have a billion hits. Nope. Is long as you have a contract from an advertiser because they're going to do it under an advertising packed and is long as you get, let's say Dunkin Donuts and it was that guy's name. I can't remember his name The guy that got in trouble for the hanging forest in Japan, and but he had, like, Oh, yeah, Logan. Local man. Yeah. Logan, Paul Right up, all right, And he had a big contract with Dunkin Donuts for like millions of $8 million. Really? Yeah, and he gets the contract for it. So if he can provide a contract, then he could become a member of sag after and there's no collective bargaining agreement. Wow. Like we have to go through. So you in essence just to say hey, looking duck and donuts did it's okay. Come in the union Now you get benefits. And yes, pay dues. Yeah, he'll have to pay dues. But he also get the insurance in the pension and then the protection and it all started about. I don't know about 3.5 years ago Youtubers where the first to be allowed into sack after And what was going on was that these YouTubers were starting to make lots and lots of money. And then companies were approaching him for endorsements, movies and whatnot in these kids, literally kids. Had absolutely no idea how to negotiate a contract. They didn't know how to approach an agent or you get an agent, and then that's when the Screen Actors Guild said about 3.5 years ago. They started doing talks on this and trying to figure out a way. Fit in the social media influencers, So it's a great way to get into the union. You just go on, have a YouTube and then hook up with some kind of sponsor. Yeah, you know, it's crazy. Then you think about you. You remember this young for many years, people are always want men acting credit. Just all we needed was an acting credits. Just please give me an acting credit. Hire me. I'll do anything I've seen in acting credits. So I s I could get into the union, right? And you know, and it's so hard, and now you have to do is get someone that sponsor you Just get an advertiser and you're in. Well, it was a catch 22. You couldn't get acting jobs right unless you're in the union, but you couldn't get in the union. Let's get an acting job. Exactly. It's always screwed up. It's like Well, you know how much must get experience if you don't hire me in the first place, and, you know, Well, we require experience. Well, you know, you got to get somehow, but, um, so you figure, they said, now, would you believe it that advertisers and brands are expected to spend something near $15 billion in the next year or so right on influencers. Well, we got to get in on that. I know. What are we gonna do? I mean, you know, we gotta you know, we got to get figured We had to figure out something, people..

That's the other thing too like all we do so Los Angeles and California. All we do is make regulation after after regulation after regulation when it comes to building. You try to pull the permit on something and they tell you all the reasons why you can't do everything they've taken that system and they've mucked. Mucked up the work to the point where it's years and I've talked to guys who run fast food joints and stuff like that and I go. I won't even come to California. It's a waste it takes too long. It's just it can't be done. We can't turn a profit. We can't do an untimely because because of regulation then the people who are leading the charge in all the Regulations WanNa know why we don't have enough low cost housing well because of all the regulation you put into place so we're GONNA have to peel some of that back and they're like we don't want to touch that well then you'll get no low cost housing. What do you think about that? I think you're right on what steph around the approach that I've I've taken in San Diego look if you need more housing which we do you have to make it easier to actually build it and constructed and if it takes five to seven years to do that you're not helping anybody. The cost is going to go higher. So what do you actually do about that well. I mean not to get too far in weeds but we've taken things that used to be a process five due process three which means you can get a permit over the counter. All right now, the homeless crisis here in southern California, and particularly LA because this is what I look at, but it's the same Oliver sudden, California. And I mean how did we get here? I think it's a new you think this is something we haven't dealt with before this has been going on for decades and what it used to be center on with skid row and downtown. And there are some very good reasons that it has expanded way beyond that. So Tuesday we talked about the LA homeless services authority reporting, the number of people living in shelters in vehicles on the streets of the county, increased twelve percent over last year. That's a big number number of homeless people now just shy of fifty nine thousand people countywide within the city, we're talking thirty six thousand that's a sixteen percent increase. I mean you're done if it turns out that you're not in rent control. Roll apartment or a house, and the market price goes up five hundred dollars over a couple of years per month year gone. Of course you are in another era, by the way. And here's some other reasons there used to be crumbling hotels and tenements in downtown or near downtown. Well, guess what? They've all been torn down. They've been gentrified that area. Those high rise, condos rentals are going up. Look at look at downtown where it used to be just dirt poor and people would be begging and you'd have. Hey, Mr. do you have any change? Those are gone by the truck load. So where do people go or they're not gonna have the three thousand dollars a month rent to pay? The homeless issue, I started as a crisis in L A in the nineteen eighties. So we're going back a whole lot of years. And then we what happened in the nineteen eighty eighty s we started to see these tent cities encampments begin to appear under downtown freeway overpasses, and you still see those I go home, and there are under this overpass. There are a bunch of tents and towards the south end is a high rent district of the underpass and then you move up towards the north and that is the cheaper section. Because if you look at certain areas of the city south is best. This was back in the eighties. So at the city did is they opened up urban camp Browns, and then mayor Tom, Bradley, and that's we're talking about the mayor that was around, then Tom Bradley International terminal that Tom Bradley, what he did was get FEMA trailers for homeless people. But what happens when FEMA trailers are given to homeless people? Hey, that's a great idea. Not my neighborhood. It isn't. Wow. Those homeless people need a home. Nimby Nimby Nimby ain't going to happen. So city council members balked said, Nope. Not our district. And so then you had a Bismillah living conditions causing the camps to shut down. I mean people were just rotating ribbon. Is that oh by the way, those that for a new adjective, right? To be.

"And we are also doing this thing that I've been really drilling down on recently, which is this thing where we're I call reverse engineering, but that's sort of a positive thing. We're doing thing where we go too many kids or getting suspended at this high school. What do we do about it, and obviously to fix the problem. You need to talk to the parents, you need to talk to the kids, you need to figure out what's going on at home that these kids are acting out at school. But you don't fix the problem by just telling the teachers not to suspend anyone anymore. I mean technically. Yeah. You cut down on suspensions, but it doesn't really fix the problem and it doesn't serve the kid. So it's sort of like you lost. But, you know, a guy who owns the scoreboard, he can go change on it. Yes. Now you technically have a higher number than the visiting team does. But did you win? Did you learn anything? Pure Al is sort of that way. It's like germs. Make you sick. Okay. Go out and be amongst them build up your Unity's. Yes. Fight those germs. Or we could just kill everything and put you in a bubble. Right. I totally agree. And I'll never forget my first fight at Dublin elementary school, now called Tom, Bradley elementary school growing up, and I got into a fight who kid who later became my friend, Johnny Smith, such a generic name. But yeah, but it's no. Tom Bradley is in the mayor of. Yes. Yeah. He's come to our school, Dr shepherd who's the principal at school for over forty years just passed away, but they had a close relationship, and he would come to go. I've met him several times as a kid, Tom Bradley, so he would come to school, so anyway, eventually named it to him, but I remember getting to a fight and in front of the school, and my parents came the whole Niles big deal. And that's a spin that I felt like oh my goodness. Ails missing out on school be I've got this like this thing on my record like I've been suspended. I mean that was a bad thing. And, and I never wanted to get it's been. And that was the only time I've ever gotten suspended. It was in the second grade. Mrs Franklin's class, I was in Franklin quest. Tom, bradley. I believe was a standout athlete at UCLA is that right? I didn't know that. I remember is at least as a kid, I remember being Tom Bradley, as I recall. I wasn't there watching him. But I remember. For hearing. He ran track. He's captain of the track team. Played baseball football too. I think he was all city tackle in high school track team. No. Why would I how you'd never see all guide? He was an accountant one history. Only brain g black man ever endeavor involve himself. Never I would've never I just know him as the mayor. So I almost like old guy. That's true. Those kids, some point he was nineteen and he was running all over everyone. He had an athletic scholarship to UCLA nineteen thirty seven how why that's doing the depression. He just. Yeah. Right there. He he ran track valuable scholarship on he then Ray in Los Angeles. He got the name. We're looking at a picture him running Delfs. How pull this up that quickly? I have a crack team that has cracked computer, and they do my bidding, the Tom, Bradley and then was the mayor of Los Angeles for I don't know, to terms or something seems like he was around very popular around for a while has a terminal named after the internet. And an also evidently, we had the what the rightly or Miley. What was your school call us to become Dublin? Yes w now. Tom Bradley, recognize man, south central L A man, you better recognize..
