"Those points have only come playing at home. If you can't be a strong team at home, if you can't prove that you can be dominant at home, you're not gonna do anything in Illinois, because at some point that fortune is going to run dry or gonna run out when it comes to playing away because you've mentioned how they play against monterrey and how it was a miracle they didn't lose that game against monterrey. We could say the same thing about the majority of the games they've played. Even boomers towards the end boom was had him on the ropes. They probably could have tied that game. You could say that they had a very good first half against degas, deegan is with all those missing players still had them on the ropes in the second half. This is a team right now that's punching above their weight, but how long can they do it for? We've already said no Alexis Vega. What's that team going to look like right now when Alexa if I could come back? Because one of the teams, one of the excuse me, that I most enjoy about this chiba's team is the intensity of which they play. They're very intense team on both sides of the ball. So when you move a player to when you insert a player to how does that dynamic change. Right now they're still pretenders. You have to win at home. And the next 8 games, 5 of those are at home. If you handle those home games, chifas isn't just a contender. Chibas is going in first four places and they're going to be a real threat come. I don't know about that. I wouldn't take it that far. They win those 5 home games, of course. I will give them credit. The moment Victor Guzman signed with the team, portray Guzman, difference maker. Big time player has been amazing. All over the field. Probably looking even better than how he looked when he was playing for pachuca. So he's being a big factor. Now, the rest of the squad, not sure. Next games hosting Santos. Now they have to win that game, okay? Yeah. So we are a May that they went on and beat both rescue teams, fantastic. Now you have to win the games that you are supposed to win. And that's Santos coming up. Then puebla, who they struggle with all the time. And then America el classical. Well, there's two straight classicals, I believe. American. Yes. But there's the international braking between. Yes. So for chivas, that's going to be it. How do you play America? Then, if they keep winning and they beat the America, then we have to take a mass contenders. Mondrian still leading after 9 games in league. Felucca, toluca city is back, or how do you call it TSG? Tegan is chibas, both 18 points, and America with a draw against Atlas at 17 points. That's my pick for champion. Well done, sir. Well done. Mine wasn't American they're looking good as well. Speaking of 17, the under 17 Concacaf tournaments coming to an

"Sans Juarez, but Juarez, bravos was a situation that was unworkable. But you can't go wrong with picking duca. He's a coach that's very pragmatic, but in the best way. He gets a lot of you going offensively, but it starts defensively. So there's a team that's been leaking goals. There are some discipline issues within the team. He's going to squash that out ASAP. Now what I love about duca being there is tuca is a no BS type of guy. He will write the ship not only with the players, but I feel with the board. As well. And when I say defensively, it'll be good for Christmas. Recent history after 24 years is one Reno so in that very pragmatic approach that got them to lift that title for the first time in 24 years. That's going to be tuca. That's going to be the duke of style that took her approach and this is one of those where you can't really say, well, you should have picked somebody else. I would have done it too. I think it's a very progressive coach. Muhammad, but you can't go wrong with picking duca Freddy. I have no problem with the idea that was a really good option as well. But I think right now, this is exactly what the team needs. Right. And I'm not only speaking on the disciplinary terms, right? Because that's what he is. He's going to impose discipline. Yeah, he's a little bit of a drill sergeant. But exactly. And he was your manager. You know he really well. By the way, by the way, Raoul Gutierrez must be sleeping like a baby with a bed that was made for him by those explain what that means. Well, in Mexican, in Spanish, when the players don't no longer want to be managed by certain coach, they make the bed for him, right? So raul Gutierrez clearly, for the players was not the idea guy, because the team without him. They won't twice. And they played actually okay. So the situation, maybe it's not as bad as it looks for tuca ferreti. I don't agree with you. You said about the players making them better. We'll get into it right now. So real expectations is a team good enough to make what top 8 top 12 are the playing round. A minimum is the goal here. Now, I will explain why I don't believe that they've made the bed for them. It's a term that I don't believe in. You've got to have. You never saw it. No, you got to be a professional. No, not at all. Now, listen to the teams, they have four losses in the season. Yeah, okay, four loss of this season. They last to monterrey, league leaders, estimate. They last to tigress, who are under heels right now, so their second place, they last to toluca, who are finalists last season, and they lost to Nik. If you watch the next game, they should have beaten a Cox a four to one. They haven't really good in the last. I couldn't believe they didn't beat Nick supported one. They lost a lot. They won the last two games with joaquim Moreno, which to me just shows there's a base here. There's something you can do with it. And also, can they make it? Yes, let me give you the next 5 games

"A right now is among a growing number of local governments that have started these guaranteed income programs, usually somewhere between $500,000 a month. Advocates say their goal is to get Congress to do something like this nationwide. Well, this is the time on Thursdays when we like to do our small business shout out and I got to say I'm a big fan of this place. This was one of the first Sit down in a restaurant with other people and not wear a mask Excursions that I had post pandemic just a short time ago. It was incredible. I had the best time the food and you know when you've been like eating at home for a year and a half, and, uh, you know, I'm not a chef. I can do some things, but I'm not so good. And you get out there and you're tasting other people's foods again. And is there a lot of closing your eyes and doing this? Oh, yeah, Totally like the whole time. Um, and it was such a great time. It was at bodega all back here in Burbank on Riverside, right? And Toluca Lake. I'm sorry. Well, it's it's like, five minutes away. So, um, it's on the border. Javi is the owner there joins us now. His mom is actually a friend of the show. Alicia, right? Yeah. She's a friend of the show. She thinks you're all right. So the eggs I am all right. Well, I appreciate that. You're us and neighbors really lives up in Valencia. Yeah, Well, that's great. I saw her at the store the other day. Um, so tell us about yourself. Tell us where you're from Hobby where you started? How you got into the restaurant business. Okay. Um, I'm from Argentina. Born and raised over there came here. When I was a teenager, I went to college. We're going to college. I started working in the Russian business and that's how I got into it. Um, on and off and then for 20 years. Plus, I've been working in it. And here I am. No I have my own place just down the street, and it's what we do. It's an Argentine concept. Um, we have a lot of, uh Meets. Wood fire grill. Uh, fish, lots of fish in pinatas like we're gonna try now, a lot of wines. Um yeah. Glad to be back and open again. I mean, it was quite a journey last year with Covid and so we're survived. It's a beautiful space. It's a very great intimate space for, uh, for everyone really, But it's just beautifully decorated. And the vibe is good. The feeling is good and may have been that I was locked up for a year and a half. But I really fell in love with this place right away. How did you come up with the concept for what? You wanted your space to look like and feel like and and in the design and things like that. So I did a rebranding. Um Just because I wanted to give an interesting as you know. Time passed on, Um so wanted to give like more like a like a warehouse. Look of what in Argentina. What we call a bodega is not actually a winery. It's a place where people eat So we have a couple of murals. Um, we have some artists that came and painted. Those on the walls also have some Um Trying to keep it rustic, but modern at the same time, and, um yeah, give it a good feel good music. You know, people come in of all ages. Kids. Everybody can have a good time. You know, it's like a sushi but with meat on wood planks, So it's family style, you know? We're talking with Harvey or Pardini Bodega Malbec owner again Hearing to Lucca Lake. You mentioned that this has been a rough year year and a half for for for you for restaurants in general. Tell us about it. I mean, tell what is. What are some of the things that you had to either change, or you were scraping by at certain times. Yeah, it was In the beginning. When I remember this march 14th hit we had to shut down everything. I was moving inventory from one place to the other just to keep it, you know, even gave away a lot of food. Um, but, you know, basically laid off so many people I had to You know, start driving. Do what I had to do, You know, got some money from the government. But still, you know, we had to keep perhaps, uh above water. It was a rough year. Um, but I think you learn a lot, you know from all this ban A lot of unnecessary things that we had that. You know, we have to look at even at the at the small pennies. I mean everything. Um are you getting people back that you laid off? Yeah. Yeah, And they're happy to come back. They're slowly coming back as we progress, and you know, we start opening. We're fully open right now. But still not not lunch, same cell, but We're getting there. Yeah, it was so great to get in there and not be socially distanced. It was so nice. It's got to be great for you, too. I mean, just as a restaurant tour to be able to use the space the way it's supposed to be used, which is a lot of people, and it sounds like the environment allows for. I mean, you mentioned family style. The more people there are in an environment like that, the more raucous it could be, the more happy there's just a lot more going on. Absolutely, um, you know, we just opened up months ago fully open but working on the patios and those tents and in winter, the heaters. It was unreal and also have in mind that you know the restaurants..

"It comes to fires. Was just looking at while it hub's Web site, You know, I often do. Well, look at you know whatever holiday by the numbers, and you see all these interesting facts of what goes on a memorial day already, according to Wallet Hub there are 25% more home cooking fires on Memorial Day. Then there are on an average day because 56% of us are having barbecues. And if you think about it, this being sort of the unofficial start to summer. A lot of people are firing up their barbecues. For maybe the first time you're having people over. You're not paying attention, and I'm not surprised by those numbers. But now add just that which is just Memorial Day onto the horrible heat conditions that we have this week. And because it is the unofficial start, you've got people with fireworks, who think they need to shoot them off? No, no. And the fireworks thing That is a hard no hardness. I certainly would not tell people don't have don't have a cookout. No, no, I just have to be a little careful. But the fireworks thing there's just there's no excuse for that. Didn't start. Have you heard any I just heard some last weekend and I were kind of where we live is kind of in a hole, so I couldn't necessarily tell like from what direction they were coming, But I thought not already. It's may really been going fire. My understanding is fireworks have been going off somewhat regularly. Since the start of the pandemic. You've talked about it. Would you want where you would just random, not not connected to any particular event or anything. You would randomly hear fireworks in your name, especially because we lived right at the Glendora Azusa line. And in Azusa, they do have safe and sane fireworks sales and I feel like people must just go and load up. I'm not even saying that they were illegal fireworks. I don't really know. But it would be at first I thought, Oh, it's because the Lakers won. Oh, it's because the Dodgers won. That's what everybody setting them off. No. Then it was because it was Wednesday. They would set them off. Oh, it's Tuesday at nine o'clock in the morning, Let's set off a firework. It's become a thing to do if people got really, really bored. Yeah, so you started to see that kind of thing. Here's some good news. The L A River will reopen it if I think it's open. Now. This'd specifically the recreation zones leads in Valley and spoke with a base in Rex's owns, They'll be open now daily from sunrise to sunset. Kayaking. Fishing. Walking. Not in the river, please. Birdwatching. Ah! Is there enough water in the river to kayak and fish? Maybe just in those areas may because go over. I'm pointing towards like Toluca Lake over there in looking. They're nothing. But anyway, that's good for people who like some recreation. Also, they have solar powered water quality beacons. So let you know if the water's dangerous to get into so it'll be green means safe. Red obviously means do not kayak in there. I'm assuming that has to do with what germs and things probably, but then they have yellow and yellow stands for safe. But take precautions. Well, if it's safe Don't need any precautions, right? So if I when I drag my kayak out there later today, If I see yellow, my precaution will be to not get into that water. "Took her approach, which is very much about finding your authentic self in your performance. Just a few of acting and applied it to larger life lessons and began to move into the domain of the life coach and really expected her actors to also join her life coaching sessions. Joining us now is Gary, Bomb senior writer at the Hollywood reporter. Make sure joining scary. Thanks for having me. I wanted to talk about a story You wrote the grew of Toluca Lake. This is about Candice Silver's. She's the daughter of late comedian Phil Silvers. She's an acting teacher and life coach. She turned into this kind of energy healer and, you know she had a lot of students a lot of followers, but they said that what happened after studying with her they were being He's in the emotionally, Let's say, tell us a little bit about Candace Silvers. And you know how she was, is an acting teacher and kind of the complaints that people were throwing out there about her. So Candace Silvers is a well known acting teacher, the Los Angeles area and she's had quite a bit of success. Over the last several decades, A number of prominent actors were with her people like Josh Radnor and Chris Evans before they were well known, But over the years she was kind of a controversial figure. She would do things like take credit for their careers, ways that they felt like it was inappropriate, and she would also go to some actors and request commissions on their earnings in a way that was, let's just say, unorthodox in a way that was traditionally the domain of talent agents and managers. You mentioned that she would take credit for some of the successes of some actors. You recounted a story in your article about her running into actor Jason Siegel. And then kind of taking credit for his success is not necessarily because He worked with her, but because she worked with Josh Radnor and basically said, You know, he would have been nothing if not for him and him working with her. She's a very brash personality. She's got a lot of chutzpah. It appears Tell us about some of her methods because in the article, it said that she had a blunt manner with ample profanity. So how did she work this into her sessions in classes? So she's this larger than life figure? I'm people have compared her to other figures and the acting Teacher domain from you know, Stanislaski toe miser, etcetera. You think of the HBO show Bury the Henry Winkler character That's based off still, however, but She has a charisma to her. She has this kind of brassy type of quality. She is very confident, but over time she took her approach, which is very much about finding your authentic self in your performance, which is a view of acting and applied it to larger life lessons and Again to move into the domain of the life coach and really expected her actors to also join her life coaching sessions and also began to take on life coaching students separate from the actors and over time the domain of her practice has expanded. So that's where it seems to have gone awry. Let's say you spoke to more than three dozen people who claim that she was this toxic guru and kind of leverage their personal information against them, you know, brought it up during classes as examples. You made mention of actress Lindsay McKeon, who she said she had to go to a cult debrief for to understand what she had really gone through. The accusations are pretty serious about people feeling as though they were taking advantage of that they were manipulated in essentially a kind of a quasi therapeutic way and the reckless way. Over time that Candace has over time taking on a role with people that is really the on the domain of her experience and her Professional ability. Before we move on. You did reach out to her, obviously for a statement against her representative sent a statement saying, You know, this is just a small group of people. They were just kind of unhappy with what was going on. You know, what did they have to say? For their part? Into Silver's representatives felt, too, that they felt that these were disgruntled individuals were that these issues were somewhat overblown. And sometimes they agreed that with the work that she does is difficult often I spoke with a number of people that invite several dozen people that she put forward who are adoring clients, and they often times would say, look quite a bit of what the critics are saying is true. It's just that they're not looking at Candice's work correctly. There perhaps rejected her work. They rejected the journey of her work, and therefore they're rejecting themselves and they reject her and that she is somebody that they are unfairly Villainizing because it's easy to do that when We're going through with an experience where you can become a target, and she does dangerous work. You mentioned that in some of her students had mentioned that she took a trip to India to study with some gruesome or spiritually type stuff. She was looking for something. I guess she ended up learning something similar to rake E things like that. So this is where she kind of Transitioned into this more of a healer, spiritually type person, and that's when she kind of started, you know, doing these other life coaching classes and and taking on those types of students, But they alleged that she was doing some dangerous things like telling people to adjust your medication. I know that was a huge one that people were complaining about. Yeah, that you know. Overall, The general concern is that she's moved beyond the expertise that she initially acquired that people initially went to her or which was to be an acting teacher, and that she's moved to various spaces. Of expertise that she is not. The allegation is that she's she's not legitimately able to offer on. But she's dealing with an increasingly vulnerable client population, and people are concerned that the people that go to her don't know what they're getting into. Money is always a curiosity with these types of things, you know? Do we know how much acting classes were? How much how much these life coaching sessions were, and I know there was situations where she was encouraging people to take trips to other countries for to study. You know more of these techniques and things. Over time. Some people would say that they would go into tens of thousands of dollars of debt to experience the work with her over period says years. Some of these trips to places like Bollywood cost $7000 for you know a 10 or 11 Day. Trip to go with her to study with a healer toe learn some of these techniques that she was offering that she felt were breakthrough techniques of self improvement. Is there anybody that is putting forth any type of lawsuits or anything like that? I mean, just kind of voicing their opinions right now on their experiences, or how is this playing out? Not at this time at this time. What What people are trying to do is Surface of their concern that a situation that they feel has long been a point of knowledge and inter community needs to be more publicly recognized. I was speaking after the coverage came out last week to a casting director who said that Candace is somebody that Was widely known throughout the community on but there've been concerns about her. And I've also spoken to train therapist in town who also said that on that, and they would deal with patients who had been through her work on guess Oh, What? What This was was an inquiry into the work that she has been doing which some people feel is very important and has had a lot of positive gains in their life. They're keeping important to say that Many feel that she has really helped them out. Help them and their personal and professional lives achieved huge leaps, while others are just though she Aziz caused them various kinds of ruin, and.
