The US Virgin Islands says it's seeking at least 190 million dollars in damages from JP Chase Morgan in its lawsuit accusing the bank of enabling Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking. Bloomberg's Charlie Pellet is tracking those developments. The territory stated its minimum damages in a filing in Manhattan federal court. In addition to money, the USVI also says it wants JP Morgan to commit to internal anti trafficking reforms. Epstein had a private retreat in the US Virgin Islands and brought many of his victims there. The credit card business and that is really helping the net interest income. You're seeing the guidance is across these banks. Citigroup has weaker fees so they're guiding up on that interest income but flattish revenue but I'm not sure we're going to see that across all of the regionals that are reporting next week. It was at bodega all back here in Burbank on Riverside, right? And Toluca Lake. I'm sorry. Well, it's it's like, five minutes away. So, um, it's on the border. Javi is the owner there joins us now. It's a place where people eat So we have a couple of murals. Um, we have some artists that came and painted. Those on the walls also have some Um Trying to keep it rustic, but modern at the same time, and, um yeah, give it a good feel good music. You know, people come in of all ages. Kids. Everybody can have a good time. You know, it's like a sushi but with meat on wood planks, So it's family style, you know? Tell us about it. I mean, tell what is. What are some of the things that you had to either change, or you were scraping by at certain times. Yeah, it was In the beginning. When I remember this march 14th hit we had to shut down everything. I was moving inventory from one place to the other just to keep it, you know, even gave away a lot of food. Um, but, you know, basically laid off so many people I had to You know, start driving. Do what I had to do, You know, got some money from the government. But still, you know, we had to keep perhaps, uh above water. It was a rough year. Um, but I think you learn a lot, you know from all this ban A lot of unnecessary things that we had that. You know, we have to look at even at the at the small pennies. I mean everything. Um are you getting people back that you laid off? Yeah. Yeah, And they're happy to come back. They're slowly coming back as we progress, and you know, we start opening. We're fully open right now. But still not not lunch, same cell, but We're getting there. Yeah, it was so great to get in there and not be socially distanced. It was so nice. It's got to be great for you, too. I mean, just as a restaurant tour to be able to use the space the way it's supposed to be used, which is a lot of people, and it sounds like the environment allows for. I mean, you mentioned family style. The more people there are in an environment like that, the more raucous it could be, the more happy there's just a lot more going on. Absolutely, um, you know, we just opened up months ago fully open but working on the patios and those tents and in winter, the heaters. It was unreal and also have in mind that you know the restaurants..

But now add just that which is just Memorial Day onto the horrible heat conditions that we have this week. And because it is the unofficial start, you've got people with fireworks, who think they need to shoot them off? No, no. And the fireworks thing That is a hard no hardness. I certainly would not tell people don't have don't have a cookout. No, no, I just have to be a little careful. But the fireworks thing there's just there's no excuse for that. Didn't start. Joining us now is Gary, Bomb senior writer at the Hollywood reporter. Make sure joining scary. Thanks for having me. I wanted to talk about a story You wrote the grew of Toluca Lake. This is about Candice Silver's. She's the daughter of late comedian Phil Silvers. She's an acting teacher and life coach. She turned into this kind of energy healer and, you know she had a lot of students a lot of followers, but they said that what happened after studying with her they were being He's in the emotionally, Let's say, tell us a little bit about Candace Silvers. And you know how she was, is an acting teacher and kind of the complaints that people were throwing out there about her. So Candace Silvers is a well known acting teacher, the Los Angeles area and she's had quite a bit of success. Over the last several decades, A number of prominent actors were with her people like Josh Radnor and Chris Evans before they were well known, But over the years she was kind of a controversial figure. She would do things like take credit for their careers, ways that they felt like it was inappropriate, and she would also go to some actors and request commissions on their earnings in a way that was, let's just say, unorthodox in a way that was traditionally the domain of talent agents and managers. You mentioned that she would take credit for some of the successes of some actors. You recounted a story in your article about her running into actor Jason Siegel. And then kind of taking credit for his success is not necessarily because He worked with her, but because she worked with Josh Radnor and basically said, You know, he would have been nothing if not for him and him working with her. She's a very brash personality. She's got a lot of chutzpah. It appears Tell us about some of her methods because in the article, it said that she had a blunt manner with ample profanity. So how did she work this into her sessions in classes? So she's this larger than life figure? I'm people have compared her to other figures and the acting Teacher domain from you know, Stanislaski toe miser, etcetera. You think of the HBO show Bury the Henry Winkler character That's based off still, however, but She has a charisma to her. She has this kind of brassy type of quality. She is very confident, but over time she took her approach, which is very much about finding your authentic self in your performance, which is a view of acting and applied it to larger life lessons and Again to move into the domain of the life coach and really expected her actors to also join her life coaching sessions and also began to take on life coaching students separate from the actors and over time the domain of her practice has expanded. So that's where it seems to have gone awry. Let's say you spoke to more than three dozen people who claim that she was this toxic guru and kind of leverage their personal information against them, you know, brought it up during classes as examples. You made mention of actress Lindsay McKeon, who she said she had to go to a cult debrief for to understand what she had really gone through. The accusations are pretty serious about people feeling as though they were taking advantage of that they were manipulated in essentially a kind of a quasi therapeutic way and the reckless way. Over time that Candace has over time taking on a role with people that is really the on the domain of her experience and her Professional ability. Before we move on. You did reach out to her, obviously for a statement against her representative sent a statement saying, You know, this is just a small group of people. They were just kind of unhappy with what was going on. You know, what did they have to say? For their part? Into Silver's representatives felt, too, that they felt that these were disgruntled individuals were that these issues were somewhat overblown. And sometimes they agreed that with the work that she does is difficult often I spoke with a number of people that invite several dozen people that she put forward who are adoring clients, and they often times would say, look quite a bit of what the critics are saying is true. It's just that they're not looking at Candice's work correctly. There perhaps rejected her work. They rejected the journey of her work, and therefore they're rejecting themselves and they reject her and that she is somebody that they are unfairly Villainizing because it's easy to do that when We're going through with an experience where you can become a target, and she does dangerous work. You mentioned that in some of her students had mentioned that she took a trip to India to study with some gruesome or spiritually type stuff. She was looking for something. I guess she ended up learning something similar to rake E things like that. So this is where she kind of Transitioned into this more of a healer, spiritually type person, and that's when she kind of started, you know, doing these other life coaching classes and and taking on those types of students, But they alleged that she was doing some dangerous things like telling people to adjust your medication. I know that was a huge one that people were complaining about. Yeah, that you know. Overall, The general concern is that she's moved beyond the expertise that she initially acquired that people initially went to her or which was to be an acting teacher, and that she's moved to various spaces. Of expertise that she is not. The allegation is that she's she's not legitimately able to offer on. But she's dealing with an increasingly vulnerable client population, and people are concerned that the people that go to her don't know what they're getting into. Money is always a curiosity with these types of things, you know? Do we know how much acting classes were? How much how much these life coaching sessions were, and I know there was situations where she was encouraging people to take trips to other countries for to study. You know more of these techniques and things. Over time. Some people would say that they would go into tens of thousands of dollars of debt to experience the work with her over period says years. Some of these trips to places like Bollywood cost $7000 for you know a 10 or 11 Day. Trip to go with her to study with a healer toe learn some of these techniques that she was offering that she felt were breakthrough techniques of self improvement. Is there anybody that is putting forth any type of lawsuits or anything like that? I mean, just kind of voicing their opinions right now on their experiences, or how is this playing out? Not at this time at this time. What What people are trying to do is Surface of their concern that a situation that they feel has long been a point of knowledge and inter community needs to be more publicly recognized. I was speaking after the coverage came out last week to a casting director who said that Candace is somebody that Was widely known throughout the community on but there've been concerns about her. And I've also spoken to train therapist in town who also said that on that, and they would deal with patients who had been through her work on guess Oh, What? What This was was an inquiry into the work that she has been doing which some people feel is very important and has had a lot of positive gains in their life. They're keeping important to say that Many feel that she has really helped them out. Help them and their personal and professional lives achieved huge leaps, while others are just though she Aziz caused them various kinds of ruin, and.
