"Really love that pressure. That spotlight that expectation. You know people say that your expression almost never changes even when you're being asked terrible questions on a podcast. You know like it's pretty impressive. Nick and where does that. Come from where you always like that. Did you have to be taught it. You know because you really carry yourself in a way. That is well beyond your age. Yeah i think just growing up. I was always Try to stay even keeled. Get it from my dad My grandpa's the same way. I try not to let anything bother me. I kind of learned in junior You don't wanna wish your energy on emotion during the game yelling at wraps her other players think just put all your energy towards the game and just trying to find ways to win like what causes. Knicks zouqi loses. Tamper isn't ryan leaving a mess around the house at the home or something like that. I'd say it's pretty rare Yeah me and my brother have had some heated stuff and many sticks but like playing video games with buddies all that kind of stuff but on the is Always having fun no matter what so. I'm pretty happy out there on the okay. Let me see if i can find one thing. Brady lyle all teammate of yours. yep he's already smiling so you've got some. I think i might have some here freeze. So brady lyle providence bruins. I know you're a big fan of patrice berge raw huge fan of patriotism and for good reason why not going to emulate a player in the nhl. That's a great wanna choose. brady lyle. Your buddy former teammate playing for providence. Yep going boston bruins organization whereas number thirty seven. Yeah he does. What does nick suzuki think of that. Always not getting in boston. If i were that in junior so i think it's a good number about brady's definitely switch out If he's going to make the boston boston team this year. Did you ever give anything for Sent hey man in the bruins organization. You can't wear thirty seven. Yeah i talked about when he got it. Mother buddy shoulders award thirty seven in ontario to also my number. So it's pretty funny. Thought i had something. That was good. Thought i was going to get it. That's that's about the biggest rise. I think One of the things. You've been asking a lot of the players is Good and bad of the canadian division was unique year. A unique division the played and we won't see it again The good and bad of playing in the scotia division. Or we just colloquially call it. The canadian division from mixes yuki good part thought. The travel was pretty easy Just staying in canada knock crossing the border during especially during the cova stuff was a lot easier instead of going through customs all kinds of stuff. The bad part playing the same team. I think we played the leafs like seventeen times. Yeah like does the amount of times we've played them Maybe caught a got a bit stale. But i thought games were competitive throughout the whole year. I wouldn't say there's too many bad things to say about it. I wondered you know. I wanna go back after game for that series. You guys are down three wind. You just lost two in a row at home. What happens in the aftermath of that game and maybe in the twenty four to forty eight hours before game five. The base changing point was we got a great team meeting The day after we lost a game for just how all the guys talk about. How special of a groupie were on. How close you are and that some of these guys would never have a great chance like this again. Just like that moment. Everyone really dowd in a new had to come back in the series We know how to far away to go but just needed to win one on the road and then never lose game. Sex home Those a thing that. I learned in gulf So i knew once we won game five. We'd be in good shape to make it to game seven. What was the the one thing that stood out to you. The most in that conversation who said it I think it was eric stall just talking about like he was traded here and then he just felt welcome right away. He knew how special group We had he knew he could go all the way him. Why burn price just talking to especially young guys like we don't really know what to expect and webby and price you had to make it made it to stanley cup. Final before so Just doing everything we could for. Those guys is what i wanted to do. It's like letting down your grandparents. Who's the one player that you think. We don't talk about enough on your team. The obvious guys get the headlines and there's superstars future hall of famers. Who don't we talk about enough. That's a good question. I think we have a law under eddie guys. I'm a big fan of guys. Just playing their role to perfection. guys like lebanon. He's a great player. Hard on the penalty. Kill tough to play against definitely doesn't get enough credit and then jeff future is awesome. I know he's been getting more media and stuff like that now but he's a horseback. There is easily plays thirty minutes a night and he had a great great to seasons. Since i've been on the team so i seem to be getting better all the time. Now when you first saw the red is what was. What was the team's reaction because i don't we saw. We were like holy smokes as after the game because he missed the game in montreal and no one really knew then. Someone's like wait till you see. Pd house no. I had no idea what to expect. And then all of a sudden he came in and like when you guys saw it it was a little bit better so like when we saw for the first time. There's a lot worse like just straight red is pretty scary to look at it. And he's like squinting can pretty bad but yeah playing through. That must've been pretty tough. Yeah unbelievable it's a big season coming up for you. I'm big season for the mantra is considering what happened last year. What are you most looking forward to this season. I know it's a short off season. Just time to heal up and get your strength back and get going again. But what are you looking forward to the most. I think i'm just looking forward to.

"No doubt in my mind that were winning because he plays you know. Twenty eight minutes of heavy minutes tonight. And he's an incredible defenseman. So i just thought when unfortunately he got hurt but for us. It was like all right now. Let's finish game six and go to toronto when games. Evan i wanted to ask you about weber did you know. Did you know that this might be for him as you guys played. I didn't know. But i also i mean i still don't really know what is going on. You know what i mean like. I've said the people who've asked me before. And whenever i mean what's wrong with them. I'm like the guys an absolute warrior. You know he's played hockey at two hundred and thirty pounds and played hockey the right way for so many years. So we'll see what happens. I'm going to montreal here in a week. And i'm sure i'm going to hear More and noman atop burs ensuite. See what's going on now. You talk to ever right but you just don't talk about that. I assume last time we spoke we We were talking about the blue jays and how they need to start winning games and they ever have they ever winning. So i guess yeah nobody He's a great guy. Does his presence alone in the locker room was like you walk in here like a shea weber like it's really cool so before we wrap up. I'm curious are you someone. That's personal goals for a season. And if so do you have any for this year Not necessarily think I've always kind of wanted to do better than my previous year. So hopefully do that this year. But we'll see. I think i'm old enough now in my career that i just wanna win games and the way that i play. I feel like i play the right way. I play two hundred two hundred four game and Not trying to sound cliche at all but That's just how. I was taught to play coming in the league with with darryl sutter as mccutchen for the right way you're not playing you're not gonna play You're playing some american teams now. The division is done who you looking forward to play in the most. I mean juiciest. Of course the montreal boston rivalry. I'm excited to play boston. And i'm excited to go back to staples center. Yeah and do that for the first time. Because i was supposed to go back with the vancouver and i think it was like maybe two games and then we would play there and then covert hit so you ready for the video. Yeah my my dad said. I'm gonna cry. And i said i bet you a hundred bucks. There's one there's one last one i have for you is. I heard a great story. You're on one of your junior tears. You had a chance to set a record for most consecutive games with the goal or point. And i've always been fascinated with dean lombardi and i heard he showed up for this game. And what would you like minus four with no points on something ridiculous. It was like a twenty seven game point streak or something and feuds calls me and he goes. I tie desire coming. We'll see you downstairs after his k. Awesome and i'm confident mike. No problem minus four five. Whatever it was. I'm walking out and fuses. I swear to god he's trying not to laugh as i'm walking out and denike think you said something like tyler came all the way to toronto. Thought you're supposed to be good. Oh my gosh my boss. I'm really. I'm really nervous. But that's i think that's gotta be favorite story about me We've all heard of whatever your name comes up. That's what i got a story about the Listen.

"Here on the podcast and before we get into hockey things. I'll have to put a picture of this elliott up on social so people can know talking about those. Maybe the coolest shoes i've ever seen him you like. Can you please describe these shoes to people and where you got them with the story behind them. i mean. There's not much of a story. I guess they're They're lou batons and they got some Some spikes on the toe and heel. I don't know they kind of match my suit so i don't wear them too often. I figured i'd i'd break him out today. Elliott is the fashion easter. Here on the podcast. Let's get your review of the kicks. Well the match. Which is spectacular. Anything i'd be saying to claim. I know anything about fashion. It's total bs. We know you're the true fashion guy. The three of us talking here because we've seen some of the stuff you've done in the past. So we're you saving these for this particular opportunity. Yeah i was just saving them for the nhl media day been locked up in my closet and just waiting for this day. But i don't. I don't think they go with a whole lot but yeah i don't know i just decided where the suit and i was looking for a pair of shoes that go with and just happened to fit the criteria. I guess how was your summer. It was good. It was really good. Saw you on Various red carpets Whether it's a ufc Events or elsewhere. What was the highlight for you couple those. Ufc fights for awesome. I've never been before so was kind of cool to get those first. Time is my first time. So does it was really interesting. The the energy in the atmosphere in the rina. It's like i've never experienced that before. He so my first one was. Ufc forty Mgm grand garden arena. Made event was Chamonix not and i was cage side and it was the weirdest experience because the first time he hear like a knuckle hit the jaw like that and we're not in kansas and the guy just shook it off like whoa. This is the like. I threw a punch from the seller. What was the moment where you said. Oh man i knew was nasty. But i had no idea it was like this. So like the first time. I went to phoenix and i was super pumped about that because my favorite fighters Israel at asana so he was the main card and Yeah he's a star so i was super pumped for that but there's a couple of weeks before that a guy like got. His arm like snap like hybrid snapped his elbow or dislocated our something. So they just catholic replied that that was bros and then D- fought edwards. I think that was Like the coleman event and get fight. Yeah i was gonna fighting. He was leaking. And i. And i just remember i got home and i looked at my shoes and i had blood on my shoes. Yeah so i thought it was like the coolest thing is like. It's for sure. His blood to because he was leak and a ton. That should've worn those today. They they didn't match this but Be cool and then. I mean the vegas one was kind of a completely different experience because of all the hype with with all that mcgregor pura and there's all the people that were there but yeah it's like a really nerve wracking feeling in there. I feel like it's just the it's really nervous energy because it's like nobody knows it's going to happen but like you know like something's about to go down the one thing that i always whenever i talked to two fighters always ask what goes through your head when you hear the door close like. That's an experience that very few of us in this world will have that experience. There's someone on the other side of this cage. The referee the might need to save. Someone's life and the door just like you just wonder what goes through. Someone's mind with that. I think it takes a special type of person to to want to happen there but It's i really got into it honesty when Like covert of started. And i think you'll see was like one of the sports that they were kind of started. Or maybe even the first sport that kinda start it back so i started watching it and i just really got into it A lot more. And the one thing i wonder to is that unfortunately with you had to play last year antiseptic environment. It was just You know so quiet. No fans i imagine that being there in a wild crowd you must have been saying. I can't wait until this happens for us in for sure You know especially in that saying like you really feed off the crowd and energy. It's the same thing for. I think all sports especially hockey that the fans in the crowd have they play such a big role in just creating that atmosphere whether you're on the road or home So we must have in those fans This year obviously. And you know it's not the same. The crowd noise isn't the same. As you know the real real life fan in the area if a fighter or a trainer ever say to you would you like to come into the octagon and try a couple of things. Would you do it. Yeah i'd love to like practice. I don't know if i truly want to go in there and compete against somebody like my parents They do like some sort of like martial arts kind of stuff for like working out And i've done it a little bit but like not too much. But i think it'd be a lot of fun to kind of work that into the routine to i guess a workout but also i guess even for self defense or whatever that may be but do that the guys in the nhl do that as as part of their their work routine. It's not even just the tough guys either. Just i mean Are timmy bannon is someone who's trained for a long time russians because i know Galkina trainer zone a little bit last couple of summers and he was like yeah like i go to the gym and i hit the pads for like thirty forty minutes and get out of there and i go do my workout so must be hashing thing. a little bit of business..

"The first person by the way it hasn't commented on elliott sue. So if you'd like to get that out of the way please feel free. We can get our interview. Knowle's that's nice. La says no socks okay. Welcome once again to the podcasts. You'll notice elliot. I called the podcast. Because i still don't know what i should call this part shot playing game you have to get in the mindset. It's thirty two thoughts if the artwork isn't ready the artwork isn't ready but this season we are the thirty two thoughts podcast get into the mindset. Now i do have to tell everybody. The jeff has a reason for being a little off. Today we are taping the intro to this on wednesday in chicago and jeff is playing hurt. What happened to you. i've never had food poisoning in my life. And i don't know if it was food poisoning but i had a very unfortunate incident with my meal lost in my hotel room that that essentially kept me up all night and i'm still sorta surfing on the fumes of it so great. We took a six thirty. Pm eastern time flight from toronto chicago. We got in locally about eight o'clock to our hotel. I went out to meet some of our team. Colby armstrong michael addict. Kelsey scooby a couple of our producers and you went for some fast food and you lost fast food. One jeff. zero is mexican food mexican food. okay mexican food. one jeff. zero had nice workout. I'm like all right. This'll be gray's gonna meet you guys later on nope grounded. So jeff doesn't drink. He's a vegan now. Nowhere mexican food. I said you're going to be like a koala. You're only eucalyptus leaves arm running out of options of things to eat anyway. So thank you for playing hurt. Because you can't see jeff. Right now. Allman i can. You have never looked worse. I just have to tell you really. I've i've never seen you look. The sped rattled. the mexican. food rattled me but doesn't matter because there is a podcast on the horizon and today's podcast elliott is going to feature too much canadians and to toronto. Maple leafs the two halves tailored to foley who had a real nice season last year. Twenty eight goals in fifty two games and sound like a final appearance and nixon zouqi. Who has filipino. Is now a member of the los angeles kings thick suzuki finds himself has a number one center for a team to the finals last year. Also hear from michener and we'll hear from austin matthews of the toronto maple leafs. Do you have a thought. First of all. Starting with the haves players. I thought on suzuki a thought on tyler to maybe a thought on the montreal canadians in general one of the things we talked about with both suzuki into fully is how you know. It was such a crazy year and it didn't end the off. Season had one bombshell after another. There was shaver possibly never playing again. It appears as if that's where we're going kerry price being left unprotected in the uncertainty about whether or not he was going to be taken by the crackdown and the expansion draft. The drafting of logan may you and then. Of course the offer sheet with kotkin. Yemi and suzuki discusses that At length because their you know friends and normally in the off season you know there could be some big news around the draft or free agency but it just never ended with montreal. It all seemed to come from places we weren't expecting so you're the one thing that really struck me about suzuki and to fully in our conversations with them. They seemed really confident. You never know what you expect from everybody at the beginning of the year. They're in a good mood. They don't hate the media yet. We haven't said anything bad about them. They they haven't lost a game but both those guys seemed really relaxed. And you'll the tough thing is if you're in montreal. Now you know that unless you win the stanley cup this year. You can't do better than you did last year. And i think that is a very hard mentality to be around because it's almost a fetus. You're almost setting. You're up for defeat. But i saw two guys there that are in a good head space and are confident about the way things are see. I i just don't think you can think like that. Like i know. Sometimes fans think like that. But i don't think you really have a chance to win if you think like that and it didn't strike me either. One of those guys had a really negative mentality and suzuki. I think of all the young players. I've met in the national hockey league and i'm thirty years old. This guy we got nothing in common. I'm really impressed with him. The way he carries himself. he's been like that forever. Yeah he's been mature beyond his years going back to when he played no one sound. I remember a top prospects game and in quebec city. Kids are being. Kids and suzuki handled himself carried himself like a pro player. He's just always been that guy. I mean eliot like his hockey heroes. Patrice bergereon Modeling not just this game. But like his life how he carries himself how he behaves how he interacts after patrice bergeron and you can see it. And that guy is in the last year of his contract and that guy's teammates has got offer sheet six point one million dollars. You'll be well prepared for this. I think so too So you hear from nick suzuki. You will hear from tailored to fully as well also hear from mitch martyr. Before we get to austin matthews. We'll hear from mitch martyr. Thus was a tough one playoffs. Were a tough one. Specifically for michener Excellent hockey player supremely gifted so skilled and after the playoffs he was the one that warrant for the maple leafs. He was the target of the fans. That's gotta be tough to carry in the off season. I have a lot of thoughts on this. You know we've talked about this from the moment. The leaves laughed last year. One of the things that they discussed internally was letting their players know that this coming season was going to be huge. It could be the last one of this group. And i think that goes everywhere. I don't necessarily think that's just the players. I think it's organizationally front office. Wise coaching staff like if they if they lose again in the first round or don't make the playoffs in a worst case scenario. It's gonna be bad like there's gonna be multiple multiple changes. And so i think the whole organization has tried to create a sense of we. Better make this work this year. Like this this groups last stand. But i think the other thing in particular with some of the players not all of them but some of them. I think they're really trying to tell them to block out the noise. You have to stop with the noise and matthews. I really think doesn't care. Like i think mathews has that assassin mentality. I really do. I don't think he really cares. What set about him. And i think he just kind of looks at it like.

"I was a little backhand past. The good drove that Anderson had hit his skate or good one would have had a break away from just inside the Montreal blue line. So we have four on four hockey for 37 seconds. And then the lightning are going on the power play for the second time in the game, Muhammad time left in that person. Base 37 seconds. Okay. Oh, yeah, There it is. Geno and Gordon, the right of Carey Price, one by Gord Circuit job is able to hold it in. Got it away from Evans circuit chip high slide right to get gored. Centering pass. Missed. Everyone ricochets out of the zone. Shoot that instead of passing into Gordon inside, Here's Coleman up middle circuit chip across the line of Gord, Right Circle. Great corner circuit, Kev. 18 players down. Slow to get up. It was Tyler Toffoli big hit on Suzuki, two behind the Montreal Petri Scott parents to get past the center ice hit to Foley. That could have been too many men on the ice. Zucchini, just dumps it down the ice, and that should be an icing. They decided not to call it. So both sides maybe getting away with some Paul's that are not being made. The lightning are now on the power play for a minute, 20. Edmonds got the puck in the lining and Outside feet. Stamp goes mishandles. It gets it back for Hedman at the Lightning blue line. Heading into the red line. Right wing Cirelli crossed the line. He gets checked in Chalon. Well, bang it down the ice 12 left in the lightning power play. Victor Hedman. "A little better than good. And you know when you talk about Tampa Bay in that number this year He said 13 no. After the last two years this year, they're six and after a loss, and they're not only Back to win, but they get mad. They've outscored their opponents 29 8, So don't post 16. So you talk about something's got to give. Team that never loses. That scores a lot against another team that hasn't lost this year that prevents goals. Should be fun. You talked a little bit in your keys to the game segment Moments ago about the big boys where Tampa Bay is concerned. I mentioned Brayden point without a goal. In his last five games, hasn't scored in this series since he had three assists in Game one. Let's look at the other side of things and not necessarily to point out players that have struggled, But players the teams need something from and where Montreal is concerned. You have to look at Tyler to Poland. Yeah, I know you do. Tyler Toffoli had been Real consistent performer in the first three round. The power play at even strength. He was playing with two young kids. He's not anymore. So he doesn't have a point in the series yet, and he's their worst plus minus player. This is someone that that has been involved in a team that's been down three games to none and has come back to win when he was a rookie with the Kings, So he understands that So it's now time for him to take that understanding. And contribute because Montreal in this series, they've had nine players. That have not had a point in the series. Now, one of those brake cooling only played one game will give him a break. But to Foley is one of those players that has to Come up and be a factor in this game and where the lightning are concerned, while the big boys haven't necessarily been all over the score sheet, you look at that third line..

Tyler Toffoli Tyler Tampa Bay Foley Brayden six nine players one game two young kids Kings 13 three games three assists first three round this year Game one 29 16 Poland Montreal

"The ice, because every time we get it, there's somebody there is no place to pass it. There's no place to skate. Four on four for the next two minutes. His surrogate chance shot from the line off the faceoff win hit Kucherov, and it slapped out to center by Shea Weber Boy has Nick Suzuki raised his game after a tough start to this series. He has 11 shots on goal in the last two games coming into this one, and now he's got points in the last three games as he draws the primary assist on the goal moments ago by Josh Anderson Cooper trying to work his way behind the Montreal that leads Along the end boards and then hooks it back through the slot. Nobody home and Suzuki off to the races on right wing 21 year old just feathers it in behind the net. Then he goes and gets it. His teammates changing behind the play. Nearly got it away from Hedman. Now Suzuki will change as well as Hedman moves it a heading. Excuse me, Sir. Tkachev doesn't get back from court. Lightning will restart McDonough from behind his own net. Former Wisconsin badger right through the logo at center on right wing for board into the Montreal zone has passed ahead off the stick of Coleman, who is canceled out in the corner by Jeff Petry kicked loose and Edmondson pounces on it behind the net. Still 45 seconds in the four on four and it's turned over at the line by to Poli and Gord tries to play it around him. It goes right to price. He taps into the line, but not out and now another penalty coming up. Montreal and as the puck is touched up by Toffoli. Canadians are going to go short handed to Foley, who turned it over at the blue line on the exit of the zone ends up taking the penalty for its a slash. It's actually Edmonson, I believe is is going to go. You're right. My mistake. Johnny Gore. Through the park in the middle and Evanston. Just chop Coleman right across the back. Hedman, Hands it off You trot gets the glass with a big one time blast. Top of the right circle. Lightning recover possession and the man opened up the line is Hedman. Now let's circle one time blast by Stamkos that Mr Mark comes back to him. He feeds it. The Hedman Kuchar off. In the right circle. And, of course, Stamkos on the left the scene pass tipped away Good stick Trump to know again, recovered by the lightning and fired right on that by Kucera could save by prices. The puck trickles back out to the lines coincidental minors about to expire. In fact, they're over. Now. It's a five on four. So Evans and point joined the special teams Cirelli out of the corner. The Lightning gives it back to Kucera, who trough handles right to the side of the neck gets it back from Cirelli, middle of the ice. It's Hedman right circle to trump into the middle and points shot was snuffed out and, you know, sends it ahead. Parcel break short handed, and Evans just didn't have enough in the tank to skate into it now under a minute to go in the period, there's a one second difference between the penalty clock and the game clock. Point brings it in on the left side on his backhand puts it behind the network. Petrie swats it away looking and trying to protect the puck in the corner. But it's dug out by Stamkos around the wheel. They move it right circle. Kucherov. That was a shot past the top of the crease. Looking for Pilate didn't connect. Hedman has it again at the line. Hot pass to Kucherov. He takes it off escape. On the goal line gets it back playing catch with Palat, who dropped right circle middle of the ice again. Hedman back to Kucherov for point. He hit the post at bump position in the middle of the ice. They worked it perfectly. I think it went off the elbow where the Post meets the crossbar again. Tampa Bay gets possession back Great puck recoveries. Past went through point and again to cut you off from the right circle. He misses on the short side 10 seconds left in the period is the Canadians are just trying to survive this power play right now Lot with a keep at the left point. Stamkos in the corner. He's immediately pounced on there, and the period will come to an end. As the penalty comes to an end, and the puck pops up onto the top of the net. Canadians survived the opening period. Not only do they survive it, Joe, they take the lead to the locker room. Well, the first scoring chance that they get in the game they scored and that was late in the period and then the Tampa power playing At the end of this first period did everything but scored. They found they found the right man in point to get a shot that went off the post..

"I mean, they just they were just wondering, you know, through the first Almost 15 minutes. They're thinking Tampa Bay's got to have too many men on the ice, because every time we get it, there's somebody there is no place to pass it. There's no place to skate four on four for the next two minutes as surrogates gems shot from the line off the faceoff win hit Kucherov and slapped out to center. By Shea Weber Boy has nixed Suzuki raised his game after a tough start to this series. He has 11 shots on goal in the last two games coming into this one, and now he's got points in the last three games as he draws the primary assist on the goal moments ago by Josh Anderson Kucherov trying to work his way behind the Montreal net, leaves it along the end boards and then hooks it back through the slot. Nobody home and Suzuki off to the races on right wing for 21 year old just Feathers it in behind, and then he goes and gets it is teammates changing behind the play. Nearly got it away from Hedman. "To get in this series for a couple of games is a young kid. That's got a lot of enthusiasm, right? I just thought that there was room to get him in. Prior to this game, no score under six to go. In the first period of Game four. Montreal has not had a scoring chance yet. Shots 11 to 1. Have not been able to get anything close to the net from a prime scoring area. It's been a counter punchers dream if you will, but not many counter punches so far. Montreal kind of an early rope a dope If you want to take the boxing analogy, one step further accidentally, though not not by design. On past the center. Kuchar off waits for point coming with him his past little too hot to handle off his stick deep into the Montreal zone, kicked along behind the net by Weber. Pressure is cold now in the right corner, digs it out, try to feed the point to fully intercepts that off the boards and fires it to center off of Phillip Danault. His sentiment sent right back in by the Lightning and Sharratt sets up behind his own net Now leads it up the left side for Tyler Toffoli. Nobody with him as the Canadians are changing and wires it around the kick plate and deep into the Tampa basil. Under five to go in a scoreless first period is the Lightning pop it to center. Cool AC from Montreal retreats into his own zone with a watch by Ross Colton, the rookie who played a couple of years of college hockey just up the road at the University of Vermont. Now he gets it across the line on left wing for Suzuki lost an edge as he fell in the corner, keeps the puck alive as he rims it around off a broken stick. Below the goal line. It's nudged back around. Suzuki has it again, and his pass to the point gets away from Pollak, and now he's under duress as he beats Cirelli to it. Thanks it back ahead to Suzuki Drop pass the Caulfield right back to Suzuki off the left boards in behind that centers score. Josh Anderson. For the first time in the series, the Montreal Canadians have a leave. Tampa Bay gets caught making a change and so when the puck was turned over in the neutral zone That of that allowed Suzuki to make a play. Suzuki will end up with the puck down the board down the left hand board holds on He gets the defenseman your neck to slide down by that time. Suzuki is at the goal line. Now he starts going Hide the net. But before he gets all the way behind the net, he throws a little backhand pass right to the slot. The area that we've been talking about where Montreal hasn't had a sniff. First period, but Josh Anderson went there. The past was excellent, all in one motion. He puts it in past Pasa Levski, and this place erupts. So the line juggling pays an early dividend for Dominique Ducharme as he put Anderson on the line with Caufield in Suzuki. They will draw the assists on the fourth of the playoffs. For Josh Anderson at 15 39 stall gets into the net. Vasilevskiy has trouble handling it. And it's in the crease. Does he have a net? It's in the net. It is, but the backside officials says he has blown the play dead. That's Kelly Sutherland, who was leaning on the back of the net stall coming in on right wing. Just flip the harmless looking shot the best. Palefsky had all kinds of trouble with Well, then what happened was, I think the reason they blew this dead. It's because that's a Levski was trying to reach for it, and he got bumped by a couple of Montreal players and push them back. He had it under his glove, and then I got forced out from under..

"How doers Get More done, Joe. Something profound will happen here tonight, either. The Canadians will show us something they haven't shown us yet in this series, or the Lightning will go back to back, Jack. Well, I think you know, let's start with Montreal. Um, the thing about Montreal is, I just think that they have to score first to win, not because of what the statistics say. Montreal is a team more so than any other team. I think I've seen in a long time that when they score first, they are a different team, their level of play their their comfort zone. They just go into this mode where they look like a different team. And so when they don't they look like a team in panic that can't come back when they're behind, So they just they just play a different system. Have a different attitude, and that's when they're at their most comfortable ever. So I think for them, they have to score first. The other thing is this. You know they're going to need carry price to obviously play better than what he's played in this series. His numbers are awful in the series. But to coincide with that. It's a team that better stop making all the egregious mistakes that they're making the way they're giving up the puck in the turnovers and whatnot the way they're defending, so they have to do a better job of helping him out. And then I think they need an unsung hero. They need somebody to step up and score a goal that maybe you don't expect you look at Tampa Bay, right? And they've had goals from Eric Turn AC He's not expected to score, but he scores a big goal in game number one Tyler Johnson 1/4 liner has even though he's more of an of him, But he's 1/4 liner. He scores two goals last game, I'll about John Rueda, who expects him to score, but you know what he scores a big goal in Game number three. So for Montreal. I mean, you've got a list of players, some of them we talked about. And Tyler Toffoli who doesn't have a point. But how about Brendan Gallagher hasn't scored. Paul Byron Not doesn't have a point. Evans hasn't played a lot of oil are MIA doesn't have a point. These are players that that have been contributing along the way in different games. But they haven't yet in the series and maybe even throw coal Caufield the 20 year old into that into that mix as well, So I think they need somebody first Tampa based concern I mean, if they keep their defense as active as they've been both defensively and offensively, they had a five point game.

"The Lightning have gotten it done again. 13 2 in this post season when they score first, and Anthony Cirelli, fifth of the playoffs is the first goal tonight. It's one Tampa that was the best shift best shift of the game. Tampa Bay, where they had some extended offensive zone time and so really makes the play behind the net and then end up back out at the point to cover up first defenseman and just took the wrist shot that Look like a deflected pass carry price to make it one Nothing. Ruda and Johnson draw the assists as Vasilevskiy covers up a shot off the wing from Ben Sharon. You know, we have to talk a little bit about Tyler Johnson elevated from the fourth line center to take the place of Alex corn on that second line gets in the lineup, and he gets on this course you know, and, uh For, uh, Tampa Bay. He's not only on that line, but then they bounce in her own little bit. He's played a shift or so with his normal linemates. Former life are the the fourth line so He's been a critical player here in this game thus far. So the face off to the right of vasilevskiy and thrown from the circle is Suzuki's stepping in to take his place. Tyler Toffoli. Leading scorer for the Canadians in the regular season, Enemies playoffs and as soon as they drop the buck. Whistle from the backside referee and Kelly Sutherland, I think has a clock issue. Quickly over to the scores position and then He goes to the Montreal bench. Then he goes to the lines, many as conveyed all the messages he needs to. They dropped the puck and it's controlled by Tampa Bay, Andre Palat. On the left side trying to self chip into the corner, but he's beaten to it there as the Canadians reverse it away to Poli wiring rink wide back into Tampa ice, where turn AC handle took Has taken off the skate by Palat and he just poised to center ice. It comes to Earth right in front of Shea Weber, who chops it along. McDonough kept it out of his own. Suzuki brings it right back in. Caufield off right wing and he got a lot on that shot just wide of the far post. Sharon keep Suzuki gets into the net. An easy glove, save with no traffic to Vasilevskiy keeps the puck in play quickly, dropping it and paddling it aside. Donna from center sends it in Former New York Ranger was originally a first round pick. Montreal sends it around. The boards tried to one time and it was blocked and speed the other way. It's Paul Byron Heels back in the left circle is rooted keeps him to the outside. Nice pass across just out of the reach, though of Jeff Petry from the goal line, he recovers. It just fires it on net and not getting up. The near post was passing live ski, so Cirelli able to skate it back to center, and he chips it deep into the Montreal zone. Eyes up Edmondson, but the Canadians are there to support played up the boards. Anderson couldn't get it out. And now on a second effort Montreal away, Kenny Emmy on Right Wing brings it to the middle takes the shot blocked by Tyler Johnson. Anderson recovers as it behind an end for the Canadians spins it out to you all Army of fresh off the bench. Coco Neami, the high forward Over right side Petri. Let's go top of the circle padded away by Modzelewski stall right off the bench steps into a one time I missed everything. Johnson's playing on one leg, so they're going to try to isolate him. As Petry takes the shot blocked in the slot, an army a shot blocked by Rueda. All of a sudden the Canadians can't get shots through. Petry takes it below the goal line, trying to force it in front that one off escape stall has it again. He goes to the slot and Vasilevskiy does his makes a solid as he gobbles it up, no rebound and holds for a face off. Well, Tyler Johnson. Had to play defense. He was backing up and he came up with a big time.

"On the boards. At the blue line, and when that puck came back to him, he looked up. Lot about shooting and then everything just opened up for him. So he took the puck right into the top of the circles. But the Tampa Bay Lightning players did a good job clearing everyone out. They allowed Vasilevskiy to see the hard shot and he was able to make the save. They'll do it again in the ring to the right, Vasilevskiy. Now we're seeing Eric Stall, take the draw and he's up, beaten on the draw. By Tyler Johnson. Johnson elevated in the lineup tonight, but he's out with Maroon and Colton here his normal linemates and get the puck deep into the Montreal zone maroon so good at protecting the puck below the goal. I got it to Colton. He angles it off. The Wall Mart plays it across surrogate chat. High forward comes out to help and that's Johnson winds it around the boards in behind the net stall, picks it off the wall and moves it up. The left side are being cleared. Gustafson makes a move at center and gains the blue line and wires. Around the boards into the Tampa Bay Zone. Corey Perry returns it behind the Net stall. Knock off his skates. Can't keep it alive Story Perry in his 13th Stanley Cup final game here tonight, his third trip to the finals. Of course he was there last year against the same Tampa Bay Lightning is a member of the Dallas Stars. Changes for the lightning as they get it deep into the Montreal zone that will buy time for Ben Sharrock. He moves it through the middle of the ice. Gallagher had to pull up at the blue line, and he lost the plot. Hedman goes diagonally through the neutral zone finds Blake Coleman Royce it in on the backhand. Sherrod under duress reverses, it finds Brendan Gallagher short little chip, play up the boards and to know gets it out center ice. He regains it in the center logo and backhands deep into the Tampa Bay zone. Hedman wanders back to get it moves it quickly. Gathered in its Senate by Yanni Gordy has the game winner in each of the last two games. The Lightning have played in this post season winds it around the wall. Woodrow puts it back to board behind the net. He feeds it around the kick plate to the right point, and John Rueda keeps it in an Edmondson dump scored behind the net is the battle for the puck. It stays along the wall popped into the right circle and kept alive has Caufield was over to support Allowing Edmondson to clear the zone lifted all the way back. This will be icing against Montreal with 4 22 to go in the opening period, and now you've got the line that we just talked about the Suzuki line. Top field on one side to Foley. On the other side. That's an awful long shift for them. They were pinned in their own zone. Now they're tired. Montreal has to ice the puck. They have to stay on the ice and Tampa Bay comes out with a fresh line and get to its breaking point with Kuchar off and Palat. Pullouts. Another guy you don't hear a lot about, by the way, the number two all time goalscorer in Tampa Bay Lightning playoff history face off Win, and it's Hedman and winds up on the top of that certainly flocked to Poli. He's off to the races. Personal breakaway Tyler Toffoli. Let's a long wrist shot going way out at the top of the crease was Vasilevskiy to make the same. Celeski got a wonderful read now three on two back on the lightning trailer. Kucherov! Let it go! Stick saved Carey Price. Both goaltenders make saves. And now the Canadians to on one hears Suzuki's got Caufield with him. He goes wide takes the shot and again, Vasilevskiy stays with him to keep it out. This is pond hockey. All of a sudden, Joe. Up and down. We go that come to lightning point skates into a flip pass into the left corner of the Montreal's All who trough wanted at the top of the circle. Instead, he gets a shot past and then Senator Wyden and pops the rebound off the back glass over the crossbar out in front. Where the Canadians ice it and again that group of Canadians has to stay on the ice. They had a chance to go offensively, so.

Alex Killorn, second leading goal scorer in these playoffs, pursues the puck, but the Canadians played away so both teams will shuffle the deck time and space for Edmondson, who gets it ahead to Corey Perry. Cuts into the middle and he stripped of the puck at the Blue Line. Tyler Johnson just backhands it out, and Weber lifts it back in. Hail Sergio chest headman the puck off the left boards and Pat Maroon got a piece of it. Price comes out to play Augustus and throws it dangerously up the middle. But Evans rescues the play and clears the zone. Surrogates for Tampa Bay angles it out of his own and Eric Staal chips it back in. Evans had to get on side so he'll just go for a change. "Montreal's former captain. He's shoot. I forgot about that. He was a night. That's right. He was drafted. I think it was 13th overall by Vegas and their inaugural draft. Uh, 2017. He was packaged with Thomas Tatar to go to Montreal that are still on the team, but he hasn't been playing lately for for Montreal's captain. Max Pacioretty, So there's that storyline. That's part of the mix as well. And Max has been a tremendous school score an offensive threat for Vegas all season. So Suzuki comes in. As the unofficial number one center of this team and the sophomore kid is playing with the rookie in Coal Caufield, who is a dynamic offensive weapons along with Tyler Toffoli, the veterans scorer who won a cup with The L. A kings in 2014 and was I think he was sixth or seventh or somewhere in the top 10 in goals on the season in the NHL, so this is going to be a line that's going to be counted on dramatically for offense. Uh, you know, to fully places decent enough to weigh system, but overall, this is the key for Montreal. If they're going to create offensive chances, this is going to be the line that has to do it for the haves. If they want to move forward, and it led by Suzuki. You're right. Look every year in the playoffs. We see certain teams in certain players have kind of coming out parties. Suzuki just started that last year because of how well he performed him. And, yes, Barry, Kakenya me there other center So Montreal has got some good young talent, but they're definitely going to be counted on to contribute. All right. I'm not going to hold your feet to the fire. But I'm going to ask you just the same. Uh, we are four teams left one with a better chance than the other three. Actually raised. Lord Stanley Cup is I'm going to go with the defending champs. I think it's Tampa. Um, you know, started the season. I picked the Tampa Vegas final. So I'm sticking with that. Uh, so far so good. We'll see how things unfold. I think Tampa based on their experience in the overall talent level, I think they've got the best opportunity here even though they're down. Uh, you know one nothing to the Islanders early on, based on tonight, using this afternoon's game. Um, there's just so much experience on this club, especially coming off that wind that that I think they'll be able to to move themselves for it. So, plus, I'm going to stick with my original pick from the start of the year, but I just think Think the bolts overall are going to be in a position to eventually get this done? Yeah, I think I had Colorado against Boston, but I think I said so about Peyton Manning against Tom Brady. So I was probably drunk at the time when I made that prediction. But if you've got Vegas and damp I would absolutely stick with it if I were you. Great stuff, David. Always good to talk about it and sexual. Yeah. Appreciate when you hop aboard. "Different team. I think face you know compared to the to colorado. I think the interesting dynamic though as we go along here is filipino. And as a as a shutdown guy is a selke candidate center how is he gonna factor in with this in terms of you know compared to like minnesota and ericsson ac and are the night's gonna have problems if he's able to contain stevenson in stone patch already in that line. Yes that's the interesting part of this series of think. Montreal sets up quite a bit like minnesota. Now will they play exactly like the wild who's to say. Because as we both commissioned we haven't seen them play we for sure haven't seen them play in person obviously and we definitely haven't seen them play the knights this year so this kind of third round has this added air of mystery about it because these are fresh matchups for everyone. The canadians do have a first line. That's kind of more like checking line. Just like the wild head. Were as dave mentioned. The philip no center is a very good defensive forward Right wing burning. Gallagher on that line is a really key piece for that team and so the canadians kind of try to match those guys up against opposing top blinds have them shut the opponent down. And then they'll use suzuki. Who is a of course. Former nights draft pick thirteenth overall in twenty seventeen the knights inaugural draft who they traded to the canadians and exchange for max pacioretty along with tomas tar a second round pick and he's become a very effective second line center for montreal and left wing tyler toffoli. Who's on this line was seventh seven goals in the regular season in the nhl. Twenty eight and then of course. There's a coffee. Dave mentioned who won the hobey baker award for best collegiate player this season at a university. Which i will not name. And then the canes just have solid depth. After that. I mean david josh anderson kind of a third line power for type. He's a goal scorer. Got re really solid vets. Like eric staal and corey perry on their fourth. Linemates fans probably remember corey. Perry the depth guy on the dallas stars team that eliminated them last year and then kind of the same story on the blue line words..

"Maybe maybe i was being a little critical of graves there. But i will say he did. The patrick marlowe special. That you'd be buried to right in the guy shouldn't pat act the way that's the way we're gotta work on getting pucks through shin pad other net hit to skate shit other way to on one slide into the goal with the four net front taking crosschecks to earn that space in front just rolling his eyes. And when you look at vegas right and how they're able to play. And i don't think vegas and the islanders that dissimilar in terms of like the word dissimilar yes. I don't think that they're that different in a sense like they never changed the way they play. They continue on the path no matter the score until late in the game. If you gotta get a couple they'll open it up but they've really kinda i'm not gonna say slow down kiln car. But he doesn't look like the kale mccarthy from the regular season or the camel car from the first round. 'cause they're just taking away time and space. It's all they do. It's the same thing as the islanders. They don't give the best players room to make plays. So you seen with mckinnon. You've seen it with their best defense and they need more and they need it tonight. That was a hell of a pass. Some patchy ready to to send stone the quote from tuck ob as he was exhausted. And you saw how skated down the ice. He's the heart and soul the team. He's the captain that. He's now tied for fourth overall. Playoff wins with monday's guests. Billy smith and eddie belfour patrick. Wow of course. Do you know who the other three are up started do you. Do you know who the three are. Playoff wins a goaltenders ahead of him. Martin brodeur patrick wa How how. I forget number one spy so obvious. Hold on hold on one patty woz woz one taking the other guy so obvious. We had him on recently. Billy smith if you're after. Wow yeah i should have thought of the islanders dynasties. I was starting to think canadians dryden. But then they didn't play. I don't think. I don't think anybody is ever going to walk. He's how many more games ahead right now. He's at one fifteen for one hundred and fifty one playoff on all four sixty three of the current legal crazy and he's only goalie and top five career. Playoff wins also went coaching. Punch the glass and tried to fight bruce because he goes off his first game because he clean up your caller broussais two trips to the buffet in the fucking house. Before they may fucking kidding me fucking me back call us call lists tabernacle what i heard from terry and i've been busy and mark back in the lineup. And he replaced ryan. Reaves was the help bomb. I know you wanted to sky in the tunnel. Just given his boys hugs on the way into typical team guy reveal. I figured i'd give my fourth line buddy a shot out any final notes on that series boys. Do you want to share before we move along. No just that through five games with game six tonight. Vegas is significantly better hockey team. It was one game after playing game. Seven two nights prior and since then vegas has fucking own them. Why the ball's in your court vagus fans. Can you sing your team home to victory just like the islanders dead. We'll be watching. Not sure you guys can bring it to that that cadence. We'll see you. Don't think the vegas trump gets more fancier known as the craziest loudest fucking fan base in the league. You're wrong biz. you stick to the canadians and you. Three hundred people in the stands before we get gets canadians jets. We do want to mention i guess. Call them black blackwell. We're gonna bring him on a little bit new york range.
