"Got back some of its spark this weekend as Godzilla versus Kong scored the best opening of the pandemic with $48 million in ticket sales, even as it simultaneously streamed online. It was made for around $160 million. The previous best opening of 2021 was Tom and Jerry with $13 million in late February, and Wonder Woman 1984 with 16 million in December. Is Zach Snyder's 'Justice League' a Good Movie?

"The very controversial for so many reasons for content reasons for formatting reasons i saw so many memes about the fact that it was reformatted. Four three zack zack. Snyder's justice league has officially dropped. We say dropped on the internet right. It's not like premiering a movie theater. It's just dropping on on. Streamers is fishy dropped on hbo. Max there's a complicated back story where zacks under had to leave mid production because of a family tragedy which is very sad judd app not try that patel just we took over just we apparently was a total asshole and there were all sorts of lawsuits. About what a dickey was and then you know. The film by many fans was not felt to reflects what zach snyder intended and there was long discussion of a zacks undercut image. Peo- max put in seventy million dollars to shoot a whole bunch more footage to make the zack snyder. Cut of justice league. Come out for years later. This is an interesting story because it is different. From a lot of directors cut stories. A lot of directors cut stories are ten years later. I'm grateful the studio give me access to the archive to rescan the negative and re-cut it is very rare in fact i can't think of an example where someone's like four years later. I got an extra seventy five million dollars to shoot additional footage to make an alternate movie like it is. Is there another example. That are missing where somebody got that. I don't know but what i do know. Is that in the history of film. There have been many many many directors cuts and extended editions and versions. That were revisited. We've talked about some of them here before. And most of our audience familiar with many of them It is not unheard of obviously for there to be something that prevents the original vision to be completed by the person who had it. And obviously there are many instances where somebody could go back and try and piece things together. Only orson welles. A number of times We even talked to. I talked to walter merch about going back in and recruiting and working on touch of evil. There are the magnificent emerson's with him as well. I think he's one of the early versions. Were early famous versions but bladerunner famously for anybody mir charles age And so much inbetween. It's such a common story but this one does stand apart because yeah he was given basically a massive feature film budget to make more of it his version of it and it is an interesting thing like will this happen more often. Will we get criminal. And saying actually i want to shoot a whole different ending too dark dark knight rises fifteen years later. Because i've rethought it. And i wanna go into a very complicated sort of relationship between the artists and the work when you remove the theatrical premiere and when you open up the idea of shooting original additional footage it is a it's vastly different so Full disclosure wasn't able to finish it have a two year olds. Get very sleepy very easily. Don't have four hours with two year. Old where i can watch the whole thing but universally in my social media of the people in my life everyone i know seems to have really enjoyed the new cup more than the last cut. I do not understand why people hate on sex neither so much. I genuinely enjoyed his dawn of the dead. I thought it was solid. I also am a like. I wanted to get into movies. Originally to make watchmen. When i was nice school. I don't hate his watchman. Cut like everyone else does. I don't understand whether so mad about it. I think people to hate sex. Neither for some reason that does not make sense to me. I'll also disclosed and then michelle. I know michelle is actually watched both right but so i have watched the new one. I watched the snyder cut. I did it. I made it through. Well di i not a big comic book movie fan. In general i have seen many of them though. And i did not see the original justice league so i had to do some research on what changed which was really interesting to me. I also actually really think highly of him from a visual standpoint. I find that even when he's not like a lot of the movies directed this one included. The material is just not great in my opinion but he's visually so committed to the bit that he does that his sequences really worked for me. And i think he's a great comic book movie director choice. Because i think he's really. His camera is like ballot. Check i think his action sequences are visually compelling. And i think his approach like to me the thing that felt the weakest about this. I mean obviously the some some major casting problems major script problems but all that aside i think it it mimicked. Some of what marvel does too much sometimes which i don't really like. They're some straight up. Like this is just an avenger. Seen but not as good. And i don't really love what it was in the first place personally but all my my personal take aside. I think filmmakers He is just he really doesn't. He's earnest he's not tongue in cheek and sometimes it gets a little silly and you might laugh. But i think his earnest approach to how dramatic he is with his camera like from dawn of the dead to the three hundred to a and tackling real quick charles before michelle I think that warner brothers is known to have some really tight released times. They don't have the same war chest that disney does for like they. They set these release dates. They they have to make them. I'm not going to get into the wise. And if sets really true but and that puts a lot of pressure on finishing something and delivering something. And i think that some of the the flaws in some of these dc comic book movies have to do with some of that some of us so anyway onto you. Michelle i f Well done on watching. The center is a endeavor. I i think i knew what the runtime was. But it doesn't click in my head until i was watching and the timeline at the bottom. It has like how long you've watched. And i miss read it. I thought it was much like when it said two and a half hours at the bottom. I thought that was a total Not they meant time that i had laughed and that was quite a surprise. So it's long. Don't don't kid yourself jack. Knifed mini series has parts could have been released in parts. My first input. If you will is i feel like i. Keep reading the quote snyder cut. That snyder wouldn't release in two thousand seventeen and i would argue that. I don't know this is i. Don't think this is at all what would have been released for so many reasons. It's a it's a post weeden post tragedy post. Hbo max snyder display. I don't think we would be able to release a for. I could be wrong. A four hour epic in a theater in twenty seventeen. I don't obviously say that. There are many teaser. There are changes are subtle there. Some people have pointed them out and in terms of very subtle and different. Like stolen changes. That i think are in there now. For example there's a billboard others billboard in the city at some point in the messages you're not alone and a lot of people have guessed that something that snyder put in in reference to his daughter. Like these little things that have been put in log away 'cause post years of reflection on it and i just don't think not content aside just the run time. I'm not sure how many people really yes for hours within a theatre. Let's do it. I don't know if we the same. i do. Think a really interesting experiment if anyone ever wants to ever play with this idea of same footage different story concept of how to edit something together. Because i started watching the josh sweden version the same evening. Don't do this same evening through off after watching case for a minute i thought you were. You said you meant side by side like you had to i. Four by three setup does allow you. I will say to have it on the side of my screen. As i was like doing some work so i will say the former three at least helpful in the arrangements of your browser window because like i'm not cutting anything off because it's not a letterbox or other format so the four by three is is is makes it easier to have the size. No i tried watching the conversion right. After some of the scenes giving away some of the scenes that feel pivotal in the story. Line are like thrown in the credits. The opening like oh i get with. Halo TV show will air in 2022, alongside Star Trek

"So viacomcbs held its big investor presentation paramount plus which is rebranded and rebooted version of an existing service called. Cbs all access. What did we get yesterday yesterday. There was this three. Plus our event designed to unveil the scope of paramount plus says this revamped version of cbs. All access in a kind of inauspicious. Start this event that was supposed to talk about how the company is going to be really competitive and streaming ended up starting half an hour late because they were having problems streaming so that wasn't a great place to start but generally the main focus last night was squarely on programming all the titles that they're going to be creating the originals the exclusives movies and shows that they're going to be leading into sort of cbs's stable of networks and brands and intellectual property in order to hopefully they hope draw new subscribers to service that has been around almost since the very beginning of services like this. Yeah let's take into that. Because cbs all access has largely been known for shows like star trek discovery and well star trek card and star trek. Lower deck's star trek. What else are we gave from paramount. Plus it how does it differ from. Was he this. All access had been about the last two years. Generally i would say that. The basic proposition of paramount plus is pretty similar to cbs. All access some of the things that make. Cbs all access a little bit. Different from other streaming services is baked into ciba's access. You get a live feed of Your local cbs channel most streaming on demand streaming services. Don't have both. I kind of live and on demand element integrated within them. That doesn't really change paramount. Plus the things that are going to be changing. Like i said it's really about how they're trying to expand people's concept of what's this entire company a includes and so what that is that they're going to be making a lot more originals based on things from comedy central and tv from nickelodeon there's going to be a rugrats boot and an entire new studio dedicated to avatar the last air bender Universe shows in shorts and movies and they're going to be leading really hard into the paramount. Pictures movie studio that the company also owns. They're going to be reviving some franchises from that movie studios past and they're also going to be bringing a few of paramount pictures new theatrical movies to permit plus to stream earlier than would be normal. This is nothing like hbo. Max streaming every single warner brothers. New movie the same day as it hit theaters but subscribers to promote plus a will have the opportunity to stream movies like quietly to the new mission impossible mission impossible. I think at seven on the of subscribers will be able to stream that basically a month and a half after those movies hit theaters. So for example quiet place equal you'll be able to stream in november. That's not as aggressive as as some other services but it does change the proposition. Little bet from what people were used to. Cvs all access right and so. Let's get some details. How what is the service actually launched and home was the cost and did it does it differ from. What's he has. All access was charging. Yeah well this is something. I was kind of surprised that this is going to be such a confusing transition. What's happening is in one week on march fourth they will essentially replace. Cbs all accesses premium tier with paramount plus in a launch on the fourth in the us and across countries some countries in latin america as a ten dollar a month subscription. And that gives you everything on the service. Add freight then in june going to widen paramount plus to be sickly launched a cheaper ad-supported limited tier. That's five dollars month so that's comparable with similar tier that's already on. Cbs all access. So both of the services have these kind of like cheaper ad-supported tears and premium more expensive inclusive tears but ammo plus is going to be rolling them out in. This staggered way which is going to create some confusion for current subscribers and also perspective subscribers know. There's going to be period of a few months where there's going to be multiple apps that have the cbs name in them was have the paramount name in them. And it's going to be hard. It's not as simple proposition for consumers to figure out what they wanna get and where they can actually get it with all those moving parts happening at once so we saw out some difficulty with. Hbo max when hbo max launched last year when they had not only at hbo max as an app out in the market but hbo go and hbo now still existed as made that transition. That was a really bumpy road for them for a while. Because of consumer confusion now add in the element that there is not only just like. Hey there's one subscription it's one price none of that change now. Add in the fact that you've got to tears which launches at one time one of which doesn't launch until another time and those things have different. They unlock different. So it does seem like it's setting up a really a really bumpy transition for them to

"the warner brothers" Discussed on The Jock and Nerd Podcast

"Make this a long running series on disney plus there is a twist here and the twist is that they see the show as ideal family friendly programming for disney plus boo. My source tells me they're planning to target it more at a p pg adventure family audience less than pg thirteen than it was The source unable to confirm whether chris shaw weeden sexually involved and i thought i read somewhere. That some of the people may come back now floppy jock your idea. You gotta hooker no water. That's working on the crew okay. You can't how are you going to do that family style. You got a guy who shoots first version this not what. I'm looking forward to christmas. And said i hope geek boehner. But i have a feeling the cast slash production. Chemistry of the original was lightning in a bottle mistake. They should they should do it if they want to do it. They should do it. Just put on hulu. Were there have their more mature content. Don't water down. But how would you put it on disney plus. That doesn't make any sense that i don't see much. I mean other than the marvel fans like firefly doesn't seem to make any sense on disney plus no because it's just too similar to other things that are on there that you would watch like star wars instead. I guess i don't know we'll just end this like why like what is it even. What brand is it even associated with this is a this was fox fox acquisition. Obviously this is why they have it. i dunno identified version. It just sounds like a lame fucking cash gracie from last movie rented with nathan fillion. And we kind of enjoyed it and thought that you know he was pretty good but I have to admit. I don't remember anything. It's kind of a generic sci fi pirate movie fake. But i remember reviewing it and i don't remember what it said he that there's a coal listen. I think it's a cool idea that they make this universe about what would happen if we started at the spread out to other planets and settle them and there. Is this kind of like there. Is this network. That is like a galaxy that w- that earthlings have populated and how each planet is different in. There's only space stations and shit like that. And how like you know. Maybe two thousand years into the future what it could be like. And it is kind of like the wild west when they're tariff forming these planets there's no infrastructure there and they're kinda did they don't have a lot of resources in it. It's kinda like the wild west. Where like they're just out there with nothing. And then you got these guys that are like you know taking advantage of that you know you know doing. That's interesting and it's also interesting that they create the rivers which are this offshoot of humanity that that they've created these kinda like these bad guys that likes to kill and murder rape whatever so It's got everything all the ingredients for good show the cast made that show though. You gotta have that kind of chemistry. How do you do a a kid friendly thing. When you have rivers you have a prostitute. You have an experiment. that's crazy. That fucking seems crazy shit and does crazy shit and causes lots of violence. It's not gonna work. Just make a different show disney. Plus you're doing. You're doing some older bullshit. Just just don't Don't mess with the firefly That's all i got for neutral nation. You guys want to do some. What are we watching anybody. Anything particularly interesting. They want to share nothin rocks anything. I just started watching the the scheldt stuff i mean. All it is is Sixteen minute Breakdowns of different topic. Was this turn listeners. Onto this It's on net flicks. Jilts if you if you were followed him an instagram. Anthony turned him on to me. I did yes so i was like. Oh this is fucked right up my alley now. He's got a netflix special. So check it out. It's good well. It's just basically like a quick bite sized take on stuff. Let's take a quick take on corona virus. Quick take on conspiracy theories quick. Take on black lives matter. I like that and he. I audibly laughed like at least four or five times allows watching Some shit so Yeah check it out. I've lost a bunch of shit. I'm just going to mention one thing. I don't know what it is yet because finished the spider man. Miles morales video game started playing cyberpunk for a few hours. It's fucking overwhelming shit There's definitely gonna take a lot more time to talk about that all day. Yes i need more time with the game. Because it's crazy. I will mention what i've been enjoying on. Hbo max is the series called the flight attendant starring kaley cuoco from the big bang theory and she voiced harlequin in the show. You guys if the setup is basically like the night of remember the night of with resentment on. Hbo than the night. Of the with the tone of dead to me with christina. applegate and linda cardellini. I'll give you basically. This is a setup this happens before the opening credits of the first episode. She plays a girl named cassie. Who's a flight attendant. But she's also kind of has a drinking problem. She's a freewheeling gal going out drinking everywhere she goes. She flirts with this guy on the plane. In bangkok they hook up They have a huge night. She came from or anything she wakes up. She turns over and guy's throat is over his dead blood everywhere and she runs and that happens before the opening credits of the first episode. It's a crazy adventure. rosie perez is in it. it's it's the tension in the action is good. The storyline gets a little muddy in the middle action. There's a lot of like crazy like spy shit. And like 'cause she's unraveling this mystery. They do this one thing. That's interesting in the show. It's mindscape it's how she connects back to the incident instead of flashing back to this waking up. She goes into her head and she's back in the room with the guy and the guys they're talking to her and so throughout the show she goes back and and talk to the guy that died that she just met cheated. No but now. She's like kind of imagine it's raise new conversations with these are new conversations and the guy only knows what she knows but she retreats to this. It's a very it's something. I haven't seen anybody else do like it. Breaks the predictability of the format. She goes into this fucking head scape. Where the guys they're interesting. Yeah it's very good. I would check it out. I think it's fun. Quick very energetic. She's really good. She reminds me of a young christina. Applegate kaley cuoco. She produced the show to south at should as good Other matt i'm ready for fucking mando season and wonder woman nineteen eighty-four and all of warner brothers. That may come out next year. So how how much have you played a cyber before you explain to me. Talk about this from multiple people now. I'm not intrigued but curious won't take this where you went cyberpunk is. I don't even know what it is. You just walk around right. It's all right so basically you've heard of grand theft auto right. It's basically grand theft auto set in the future. Yeah and you can. And the difference between this and grand theft auto is that there's like You know obviously there's a. There's a bunch of stories that happened in the game that unraveled depending on who you talk to and who you interact with and this and that. And then there's another aspect of it is that it's deeper than grand. Theft auto is that you can upgrade your person with cybernetics and hacking and stuff like that so it takes like grand theft auto and adds a bunch of stuff to it to an rpg and it's an adventure like a movie that unravels. You're watching a lot of scenes that happen to story And overwhelming is what it is. Yeah there's just so much going on it's It had a bit of trouble on the launch because it came out really buggy and there's a lot of fucking game breaking bugs so people are pissed but and and there and then also they're making the comparison to two grand theft auto in how grand theft auto did certain things better than this. But this is this is it's even though it's failing on some of the stuff that grant auto dated still bringing a bunch of different shit in as well way deeper so Yeah it's just a crazy ass game. I have no idea what's going to happen in kino's in it. Yeah keanu reeves anthony. They people have been waiting for this game for eight years long. It's been delina wreck with other people. No no all. npc's and and you can talk when you're online. You're not playing. You're not no you can't run multi-player right roxon. No not that i know of. Maybe later it will happen. But i think right now. 'cause they did that with grand theft auto the they have a space where you can all play together there so cd project red. They made which are three. They're getting a little bit of bad. Pr right now. Because the everybody's been waiting it's been delayed apparently runs great on pc's and the next gen consoles. They never showed footage of it on the last gen consoles and everyone says the playstation four and the xbox lassen they're having tons of problems they gotta turn off settings. In fact i played the other day. I did a side mission. The thing crashed on me. And i'm talking hard crash like it went to the blue screen. Land to fucking turn it off and turn it back on again. There's some new one. Yeah it's gonna throw it out. It's fucking to get a new get a playstation five. It's broken but it's one hundred downloads. But the game is it's wild. It's so huge city. That they made is huge. There's gangs there's prostitutes. There's like there's brain dances guess. We like remember strange days. That movie where you can like. Take someone's memories and put them in your head and you could like you navigate around people go read a memory and scan things and play it backwards and yet what are you trying to accomplish all right so i'll tell you the brief story is that You are a your character and your teamed up with this guy and you guys do little. Like oh i guess for work for hire people right they they hire you to fucking jobs. You might have to kill someone you might have to fucking infiltrate something in grab it and you're basically do that like that like does jobs. Sometimes you help cops. Yeah you how you can do depending on your path you can choose to help cops you can get do some wet work and fucking kill people for money. You can do all kinds of stuff but anyway this guy ends up dying always fucking spoiled it wet and now go back who dies now. Anyway that's basically During this mission You end up implanting a chip into your head and also keanu reeves appears and this is really spoiler. Because i haven't gotten to this so it's commercial. It's in the commercial okay. So a a and now n- spoiled so now basically He's kind of guiding you or you're fighting with his consciousness like together. Yeah and i don't want to spoil anything else. I pretty much too big. Lary things but Yes basically. now you're in the city and you're kind of on one hand trying to do you and do whatever you want but at the same time this other thing is pulling you in directions do other things and you have to stay alive basically and survive and just trying bank money. Here's the other thing. Does all that when you start to seek. There's three you pick a life path you pick from three separate paths. There's a nomad path that lives out in the desert. You pick or a street kid. You start is a street kid or a corporal and then you start as a corporate person up in the company that you have to eventually infiltrate but let me tell you how overwhelming this is. You're not when you go to the map and it shows you wake your missions and all the shit you open this and there's a fucking two hundred. Here's your blowing up this text messages that you have to answer to get side gigs. While you're driving and doing other things there's people texting you and you're trying to do the mission It's fucking insane. And it's a little much but i i'm i'm ready to spend more time. They did this mission and where we're basically You have to go to a brothel. Yeah all right and when you get to the brothel you can't bring your weapons with you. So they make you put them in the locker. So now i met this amid the brothel and i have no weaponry. Nothing and i know shit's gonna pop off at some point. Something's gonna go sideways. And i'm fucking going to have to come from me and i ll literally. Was the scene from pulp fiction. Bruce willis grabs the catanha blade. How i stumbled into our room. And catania bruce willis fucking was just hacking everybody way and i was like this is awesome. My fucking found is great. I've heard i've heard about it from other people outside of you guys i had to ask. Yeah like put it. This way is in a perfect game though. It's got a lot of and and it's indicative of all these games that come out now for some reason all these games that come out. Seem like they're unfinished and not ready to be launched but they come out and then all sudden there's like two or three months of them patching it and upgrade and doing updates in dc. That was to improve the game. So i think in like two or three months from now it should be a decent. Yeah i was gonna wait a be weeks but they've already released a patch. They said they're going to release another one january. The developers came on and apologize and a lot of the critics are saying this game was not ready to be released for the last jedi. Potential to be fucking amazing if they do patch this up and i mean i'm still enjoying the narrative of the game. It's still like a cool movie to kind of absolutely because of the movie scenes. The story seems like you can kind of look around you. Walk around or not like cinematics. They're completely first-person. Holo you have control everything you can look at the guy you can look and the city itself is so fucking rich and just people everywhere and just looking at it. Also relationship fucking sadie. Yeah i mean it's pretty interesting. Look i is it Flawless no. It's got so many flaws. And i'm sure people are going to blow up our comments like in the fucking nation going well. This is such a shitty game. You like it. listen. I love fucking cyberpunk shit. I love like whole. I liked matrix. I love the idea of Augmentation and it's like. I know that saints row was like grand theft auto at super super And it was kind of put. It was kind of jokey thing. This is like a way more well written serious attempt at telling a story. That's interesting so many story that movie that you kind of experience anthony the backlash they got the other reason people john a little disappointed. This blend working on this game. They made it sound like this would be the future of video games like this would push everything forward would change. Things turns out not so much now. Just a good game. It's just like a crazy game. Don't they did do. This is one of the like so win. The character creator. You can choose your generals hats and you can choose your pubic balls. Was you could make a woman with that. You can make a chick with a dick. You could make a guy with with the vaj you could have. You could have nothing down there really. Yeah you get. They have an circumcised penis. Circumcise there was a mix where the penises were. Poking out of people's pants there was a glitch reporting or get hit by data around the penises. Pop through diplo's that's amazing. Yeah fucking fantastic and the thing is though In the game a lot of the different You know the the characters are all different body types. For some reason you can't change your body type in other than the pieman. Oh you can't be shelby or like super skinny. No you can't be chubby skinny and they did that in saints row. You can make a big fat guy. And that's what i wanna do. Want to fucking be like the gang with dad bod just like everybody's anthony you. You can also romance certain characters in relation there's bubis sex and shit already randomized. A brain dance. Yeah now he's excited. Yeah i'm pumped gasoline but this is easily a sixty plus our investment. I have to look forward to even get through half videos that clear upon a hack stuff and hacking there's melee combat. There's so many fucking things. It's fucking overwhelming by. I'm going to battle through it and see if the patches make it a little make it not crash. I would just wake crumple a week. Yes yes and or a month in and turn it on absolately. It means It means a couple of fix it. So i'm waiting for that Because crashing was not putting yeah right. That's it all right right finished. Miles morales. I did finish miles. Browns game. I enjoyed it. It's a lot shorter than the first spiderman game I love how he swings a lot differently. He's got a signature swing style. Eight in this one. There's an app is also an app. Do all these games have like absent. Texts like there's an app that pops up where you can help people people ask for assistance But you really it rewards you. If you played the first game of great easter eggs. I liked it that it was short skits and go back and do all the side mission so those two games are great. All right cool key. Mantha another show. Yes rugs. Where can people find. You can find me on twitter at really rug boy. Combine say what's up how 'bout following me every once in a while give a follow visit the show notes for that link jock in their dot com slash three sixty for links to everything how to support the show how to subscribe to share. Prides the next person you see. Just give him one of these east and readily screaming. They'll be confused. They'll have to do something will be great. Thanks for listening to the podcast by david. "The war of attrition that is life in Los Angeles in this episode we talk about the fear of new things new things are great but they also bring a lot of anxiety and we're also going to share and discuss the famous warner brothers pitch documents we get asked for the document all the time and we thought now would be a good time to share it because we are going to do a pitching bonus episode next week yes we're going to read slash perform or actual pitch for a pilot we wrote called American beauty's it's one of our favorite ideas and it's we strong pitch not perfect and there are things we would do differently if we had to do it over and we'll discuss all that in the bonus episode that will be out on Tuesday of next week so keep your eyes and ears open for that yes okay so back to this episode we also have a Hollywood hack that can help you build your professional network and your instagram following thing and finally we have a lunch break celebrity sighting but first an update in episode one twenty four we answered a listener question about a fly on the wall yes I said I would like to be a fly on the wall at a sheep farm in the Shetland Islands I said I would like to be a fly on the wall behind the scenes at the real housewives and we asked where you all would like to be flies on the wall and we got some great responses yes lani would like to be apply on the wall in the succession writer's room which I'm guessing you would be like the fly next star absolutely caitlyn would like to watch geneticists work with detectives to solve old real killer cases so I hope she's listening to the bear brook podcast because she would love it geno would go back in time to historical events like landing on the moon or the assess the nation of JFK fascinating and just an email to let me know that he and his wife went to serve for dinner which is owned by Lisa Vander pump hat they were filming Vander pump rules so he gave me a heads up on when they shoot so maybe I can be a fly on the wall for real I have a feeling you will definitely be going with sir and then we got an email from Fiona that of course I just love she wrote it episode one twenty four Sarah said she would like to be a fly on the wall of sheep farmer in Shetland well a nearly fell off my chair which wouldn't have been safe as I was driving at the time as I live in Shetland and I am married to said sheep farmer we run a lovely farm in Shetland around a thousand shetland sheep one anecdote I think you will like is that when we had our son now eleven my husband had shared one of his home bred sheep which produced amazing shelter and wall which we then gave to my grandmother who spun it into the finest single thickness of wool one ply and then knitted into a beautiful baby shawl Shetland shawl was called are famous for being so fine that you can pull the shawl through your wedding ring even though the show is large enough to cover your whole upper body have a look over on Instagram I'm at Shetland Fee S. H. E. T. Land F I for some picks of life on a shetland sheep farm come visit Shetland with violet Sunday and we will show you around okay I just have to say Fiona be very careful what you say because violent I may show up on your doorstep yes and you followed on instagram and we have been looking at pictures and they are gorge she lives my fantasy life hundred percent so thank you everyone especially Fiona get your guest room ready and Sarah before we dive in I wanna give everyone a quick reminder that Gretchen and I are on tour with happier our with Gretchen Rubin we're having such a great time me being all of our listeners so come see us bring your friends tickets are available for Providence Philadelphia Washington DC Atlanta Charlotte and Brooklyn Lizzy should come to La we should I know okay it's time for from the treadmill of which we discuss what is most pressing in our works yeah and this week it's fear specifically the fear of new things and how to overcome it now this came up for us recently because we have a draft aft of the first episode of our first fiction podcasts and I was deathly afraid to read it I did not want to read it usually we would we put our halves of things together it's like we put them together we print them we read them yes like that is there's no delay none it was days maybe more than a week's right yes it was a long time and sort of like because you weren't reading it I wasn't reading it and I'm like why were we afraid well I don't know if you were as afraid as I was I was more just waiting that's true I just feel this fear because even though yes it's writing scripts which is what we do it feels like such different medium and I just felt this sort of overwhelming anxiety to dive it like I was very anxious about writing the first draft and then we delayed that yet in time and then I was anxious to read the first draft because I felt like I dunno like free falling but what was funny is we at this up we were discussing this even saying hey this would be a good thing to talk about on the podcast this fear of something brand new and then you said okay uv in and that I mean we're GonNa be talking about strategies for dealing with fear and that is the first and probably most important one yeah is these sort of just jump off the end of the dock into the cold water yes and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised yes I mean of course these work writing is rewriting but we've got the star heard of something that we love yes now we've never met anyone no one has ever met anyone who doesn't have some level of fear of new things this is a universe so fear but growth happens as they say out of the comfort zone yes so what are some strategies for dealing with up here yes the we already talked about this rip the bandage off that's what we did with the script and we're glad we did another thing is set a date Ooh yes Sarah the idea of setting a date really came up with Gretchen and me when we were deciding whether or not to do live shows because obviously there is a lot of fear surrounding again something new sort of a performance thing which I'm not used to and we just decided to say yes you it and start setting the dates and then once the dates were set I had no choice but to do it did not show up so it sort of took it out of my hair chance right then the fear doesn't really matter because you're doing it anyway yes it in no way decrease my fear right but it increased the likelihood of it happening but now I'm not afraid I've done it enough where I feel comfortable more comfortable on stage which is another strategy when you have a new thing that you're going to to do do it more than once whether it's doing standup whether it's talking in a meeting like once you've done it once fantastic good but don't stop there kiosk going because every time you do it the fear gets less yes another thing that helps us talking about it we do that on happier in Hollywood we talk about things were afraid of and we do it with each other yeah right just talking about these things anything that we're afraid of helps us just process that fear and move through it yup putting a name to something often like makes it less of a big deal yes yup and then if you're an obliged we are definitely helps to have an accountability partner one who if you say before the meeting that you're afraid to speak up in because like the big bosses there I'm GonNa make a comment in today's meeting you are eligible to the person you've said that too and you're more likely to do it absolutely probably won't work for a rebel but if you're an glider that'll work also if you need to bring in an expert for instance if you have to deliver a speech and you're terrified of delivering a speech hire a speech coach right you know or if you have to make a big financial Oh decision say buy a house and you've never bought a house in you're afraid to buy a house talked to a financial planner you can also read a book absolutely and You don't surly have to spend money for an expert we all have friends who have done this thing before we'll get up on the Internet the Internet Kupfer Gods Yes yes I think via its whole life is going to be influenced by youtube but that's a different subject yeah and Sarah me I think the best thing to do is remember most things once you do them are not as bad as you think they're going to be even really scary things you know even writing a fiction podcast which is just terrified ask it is to me and it's true once we read it it's all fine and if it had been terrible we would just have gone into you know we've written terrible things or you just fix them yes that yeah writing terrible things should not be scary well we would love to hear from our listeners what strategies to use to overcome the fear of doing something new we wanna know email us or send us voice memo to happen in Hollywood and g mail dot com next stop the Warner Brothers Pitch Document people ask us if we have it all the time and we do we're gonNA share it after this break Solas I was at your house the other day and there was a road oh of third love bras laid out drying in your laundry room yes Sarah you know I love my third love I must keep them clean.

"Okay. That person needs to be taken out of them. You hope you can step back and be objective. I did love the I saw billboard for oceans eight. And it's the would you call it with the slogan that the tagline that that which is called. They wanted to the whatever the slogan is below the. The movie it says like what said for every con there's a there's a pro I think that's what it was is that what it is. I don't know if it's not that's a really it was really good who picked at. And what were the other marketing this marketing team? At Warner Brothers is he's got a call coming in. It's your dad that your dad's new cell. told you sends mocking you dead. Some. The the marketing team Warner Brothers, which is sounds like a boring conversation. But I've worked with them since I did the first one my producer, call miss Congeniality. And I remember they came in there. Like, we have a trailer. I was like, thanks. That's for women's must be funny now like just calm down. This is the first one this is where we all start talking like. Oh, okay. Sorry. Sorry, standing down, and I've worked with them ever since then, they are brilliant, brilliant brilliant. And they how they tap into a style zone. A feeling that they know people will respond to something that's fair to all eight because you want all eight represented equally. You don't wanna feel like there's one person that's being singled out. And this is this is a, you know, an eight hander some storylines needed more attention on this one and some storylines. We'll get more attention on the next one but marketing treated everyone evenly. They're amazing and isn't as Massey refining and Blair hitch, and I'll say their names because they live in anxious sleepless, oh man existence. And they have kids and because it's not just our film. They have four other films that are happening. So to get out there and not peek too high. I've learned things that we can't peak two weeks out. And I'm like, oh, what does that mean? It's like if you hit puberty too early. And then you peek in highschool is basically what like we don't want a peak in highschool. Yeah, we want to peek somewhere after college God. Yeah. That's like another level of stress that I can rally. Marketing and figuring out your online. And like you're good at that. You're going. I know what my base wants wants. Yeah. I don't have that. I feel like my body is spinning because there's a lot happening in life. I was under stress. I didn't know how to stop the chaos. I don't take drugs. I'm not a crazy. He's the one that called out James Gunn on a couple of tweets from ten years ago. Exactly. Exactly. I mean, like I said, a lot of these people who are so sensitive about this, the point they gotta go on some sort of self righteous tirade. You know, they got they, they got this solid agenda that usually sometimes hide shit themselves any of the studio at a fired him except Disney because I feel like Disney is the only one that would have this kind of knee-jerk reac. Why do you feel like that? 'cause I mean, there are always present themselves. This is the family cover. This is where you come in. Entertainment. So like this is a Warner Brothers. We've seen dark Warner Brothers things, but Disney is like we have a very clean image to uphold. No, I agree with you. I think that I think that one brothers would've kept him. Then they sympathy from others. He's so mean hints while women troll, Twitter is another hot of the sex. The more closely resembles rape. That's not newest James. Yeah, exactly. The only rate cultures, Muslim culture who has the trigger like this fucker here, many white and South Africa who are being raped and slaughtered by blacks, want to come to the US even with skills they are denied. I know this guy is he'd to most show on TV to win from. Yeah, I went from libertarian. Alright, after realizing tolerance.
