Christine Todd Whitman on Biden's First 100 Days in Office

"Marks the first one hundred days in office for us. President joe biden so for the next five days. We'll be looking at some of the issues defined this time in office and hear opinions from across the political spectrum on how he's faring for today's first installment of our series we hear from christine. Todd whitman a former republican governor of new jersey and former head of the environmental protection agency or the epa. Under george w bush. She spoke with monaco's news editor. Chris chuck to offer her impressions of biden's first one hundred days in office and whether she thinks. Republican party is capable of change. Chris began by asking her what she thought of. Joe biden's presidency so far. I very much approve of the cabinet. Appointments he's made the finally a lot of competent people who understand their agencies in their what their portfolios include. I've been very pleased with the people that he has appointed a breadth of his appointments on relative to the environment and integrating environment climate. Change into everything to every and agency. Which is the only way we're going to deal with. This and climate is inability related with. What's happening to us a covert and i think they've done an excellent job in rolling out the vaccines. That's all been good. That part that i think has been less stellar has been dealing with the border because you knew that was going to be a crisis and it would have been helpful if they'd had a little more developed plan to deal with it before he came in because The message had been so negative toward immigrants under the trump administration. You have to believe that. Even if he didn't say anything and he being kept the borders closed there. Were still going to be people who say this another era and i'm desperate to get away from the horror that i live with every day which is absolutely true but as i say i like it as appointments like the fact that he's focused on the vaccines which he has to be to get the economy back. That's the first step the environment is if we don't start to do without intelligently we're going to continue to have these kind of issues plus the fact we know that we are paying billions of dollars every year and damage repair from these storms. That are occurring ever more and with more ferocity because of climate change so that is appropriate. Everything that's happening there. It's just been the border. That's been a bit a stutter. Start to say the least

"The after effects of 9 11. And how it's affected New York firefighters and their families as well as those who were never found that day. You were out with some reporting this week that people are still dying from 9 11. The 343 firefighters that died at the World Trade Center on 9 11 was only the beginning because in the last 19 years 226 more New York City firefighters have died of 9 11 related causes. Despite then EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, assuring that it was safe to breathe was not It was what the late Pete Hamill describes as a toxic cloud rising like an evil genie from lower Manhattan enveloping all of these first responders who had rushed down there. And so many have gotten sick and died and when I was talking to the fire commissioner this week, Sherry, he said, it's going to be like this for decades to come because some of the firefighters were In their twenties. You know they're now in their forties and are coming down with respiratory ailments on ly now that have been linked to their time on the pile, and it's a particularly susceptible group to Corona virus to the estimate is about 1400 members of the first responder community. Suddenly, there were warning signs that went unheeded. Whether it's the Al Qaeda is plotting to crash planes into buildings memo that was spelled out in the 9 11 report. Or whether it was the virus that the United States knew to be percolating in China. Earlier. Anything was done about it. And then the other thing I think to, and this was reflected in a conversation with the New York City police commissioner, he said. He's also thinking not only of loss but also of rebuilding and you have to have some hope. That if the city could recover from from 9 11 with all of the politics and all of the fraud, rebuilding of the space and the memorial and what it should look like, and the lives that are permanently altered. I think you're going to have some of that with Corona virus. Permanently altered families a lot more of them in this case, but you have to have hope that the city can can rebuild and it has already come out of the worst of it. And you hope there's not a resurgence, but I think those two things early warnings That were unheated and just that hope for a recovery. You are really on my mind. This'll 19th Anniversary.

"More than two dozen former Republican members of Congress, including ex Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona. They have now endorsed Joe Biden for president. They did that this morning ahead of the Republican National Convention. Biden's presidential campaign announced the list of endorsements in a press release this morning. Flake was expected to speak to reporters later in the day about why he's chosen to support the former vice president. But there you go. Here's Here's the story, according to our NBC news, these former members of Congress that in Trump's corruption Destruction of democracy, blatant disregard for moral decency and an urgent need to get the country back on course, a za reason for why they support Joe Biden. The biting campaign said all of this, and it's announced that they go on to say these former members of Congress are supporting Joe body because they know what's at stake in this election. And that trumps failures as president have superseded part in shit. Partisanship. Pretty interesting of the list of Republicans includes Uh, John Warner from Virginia. Gordon Humphrey, New Hampshire, Charlie dense from Pennsylvania. Ray LaHood, Illinois. And there you go. Former transportation secretary with President Obama. It surprises me. Not one bit that Jeff Flake is against President Trump. They've had a spat since the president took office. There's not the new here. No. And so his endorsement of Joe Biden has surprised me, John Kasich. You know you surprise me, either. Not necessarily. And you know some of these other names that you read out and Ray LaHood you somewhere from Barack Obama that surprise me, either. John Kasich spoke at the Democratic convention, right? Not surprised s. Oh, this This is ah, I probably a bit of a gut punch for the Republican Party. But not like as we said, I mean, this is not coming out of left field. Yeah. John Kasich, Todd Whitman. On and on on the other end. This announcement came just minutes before the GOP convention opened up this morning. The Democrat convention just last week, so yeah, it's Ah, Yeah, the never Trumpers You know the swamp. You know, there's there's nothing new here it right and well and mostly what impact this. This has. But you know, you could make the argument that Donald Trump is basically the Teflon president. Nothing seems to stick to this guy. And so I'm sure he'll find a way to spend this in his favor. That's just what he does, and he seems to navigate those waters quite deftly. Yeah. Yeah, I hear what you're saying. It is 9 49 dogs could be back tomorrow. He's going some kind of medical thing today. Did he give you any insight at all? I just heard about a GoPro camera. A Roto rooter. That's about all I know. And a selfie stick a selfie stick. Yeah, yeah, I don't know what that's for, but apparently it's some kind of procedure he's undergoing today. One of those one of those man procedures. Will you check things in the back door? Yeah. And I guess you're not supposed to really talk about on the radio. But it's something that men have to do. I guess when they hit 50 40 40 Wait a minute. You see, they changed the time frame on me again. Well, I guess actually, that that particular thing you know, maybe it is 50 what he's dealing with, But I know that the The checks. Oh, now, here I am at 41. Yeah. First time in my life. It was not fun. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, But you got more to look forward to on that front. Oh, I can't believe me. I'm so excited. You're here. Getting older is just the greatest thing it really Hey, have you got any critical restaurants lately is we always are continuing to talk about something small businesses. You've seen anything new out there lately that you like. I honestly have have spent unordinary amount of time eating at home. Not so much, not alone, man. Not so much because of covert. But because I've been trying to be a much more responsible man like finances and eating I much more, much more clients just let somebody else do it for me. Right. So I've used the pandemic is a way to try to teach myself a little bit more of the values of, you know, buying at the grocery store anymore at home, so I honestly haven't made it out to many restaurants lately. I miss going out, but I haven't We went in. I can't remember the name of it right now. But somebody I'll remind me as as I'm thinking about it, So we went to this place in the Georgetown Square. That's an ice cream place and they make they make ice cream sandwiches out of cookies. So you pick your cookies. You know the top and bottom you could mix and match and they got a wide variety of cookies. And then you picked the ice cream. You know what I mean? To make like, you know, whatever I say, can you want with whatever kind of cookie you want to know Roland in some kind of Sprinkles and put some goo on it in this and that and do all that, and it's all in a cup in it's real messy. And bad for you, but it's really good at the same time just made my stomach growl. I know I know. And I'm trying to think of the name of that place, too. It's right off the Georgetown Square right across from Gumbos. Gumbos is right there on the square square as well. A really cool place. It's not again. It's Ah, you're not thinking of it is not all things kids, is it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I think of it in here in a second, but it's it was really good man, the Georgetown Square. Is that's the place to be, man. I don't know why anybody would go downtown Austin to Georgetown Square. It's just really cool really is. Yeah. I love it. When I get to walk through the I don't make the Georgetown all that often. But when I do I always look around. I think this is an evil place. It is a very busy place. I mean tons of activity, restaurants, little bars..

"To their virtual show this Saturday night, courtesy of NJ Pack. And it's coming up at 10 o'clock. Meanwhile, I want to start the show off with. So you saw the Democratic National Convention. Surprise. Surprise. Joe Biden's the candidate. He has accepted being the candidate. The life is good. I guess he does that tonight, Right? I'm not sure how it works. Seven watching. I've been working. I'm sorry. But Christie Todd Whitman, your MBA Christie Todd Whitman. She was the Republican governor of New Jersey and obviously a big fan of Joe Biden, who had to say, but this isn't about Republican or Democrat. It's about a person. A person decent off stable enough strong enough to get our economy back on track. A person of the work with everyone, Democrats and Republicans to get things done. Donald Trump isn't that first. Joe Biden is the last time she was talking about Donald Trump. She was comparing him to Hitler. Ah, how do you feel about Christie? Todd Whitman? How do you feel about Joe Biden? If you've been watching all week. This is the psych up week for the Democrats. This is the week. You know the convention. Now we go into full swing. The Republican convention will be next week and then the campaigning can begin. Um Cory Booker gave his thoughts on Joe Biden to James Cordon a couple of weeks ago, and I was surprised in that when Cordon asked him, you know, tell us more about Joe Biden. You would figure that there would be some concrete things. That you would say like if I said, Tell me about Donald Trump. He wants a wall. He wants to fix the economy. He's Ah, you know, he's against illegal sneaking into the country. Ah, he wants to stand for the flag. You come up with stuff. So Cory Booker. Senator Booker tell me about Joe Biden asked me about Joe Biden. My favorite thing about Joe Biden in this stretch is actually probably not anybody other anybody else's. But believe I'm like I'm like a big fan of Bernie Brown in the sense that she talks about vulnerability, the power vulnerability that you can actually have courage without vulnerability. And the fact that this President Donald Trump never drives never shall weakness in the kind of doubtful male way. What do you think about my favorite things about about Joe buying disease will say I got that wrong or okay, Joe Biden. I've loved my conversation I've had. I'm in a position privilege. I've had personal conversations with him. Lucky you. And his understanding that he's gonna have to be president surround himself with an amazing team. He's excited. He thinks that if anything, the last presidential election it is primary did is show America that we've got this incredible bench of people, and he's so excited to wrap himself in with people that are, and he's not intimidated by people that are incredibly smart and I'm not his humility to me and his imperfections to me made me think that this could be potentially one of the greatest sort of bridge presidents ever range generation of American leadership with this ALF Toxic Alfa male. Crap. This president tries to show which is actually profound weakness. Now we're back to trump pleased by a new generation of leaders who arm more vulnerable, more empathetic more. Strong of character in this guy. Do I want a vulnerable, empathetic president? I mean, but basically there was nothing there. Uh, I mean, I'm messing around. I'm having fun, You know, making fun of the cutting everything but tell me What you think. Tell me how you feel. Are you vote If you're voting for Joe Biden. We've talked about this before I had a Twitter Paul up about it before, and I didn't block about it. N g 115 dot com. Tell me how you feel. About the Ah about Joe Biden. About candidate Joe Biden. Do you really believe that he's the guy? Have you or if you're voting for Joe Biden, Would you vote for him? Because he's simply not Donald Trump. And there's so much hatred for President Trump that you would vote for Barabbas. Catholics know Barabbas. He's the guy who got freedoms that Jesus. Aah! Is this really the way you want to vote for President, United States? Morning under 283101.5, and also Christie Whitman. She so hates Donald Trump. She went spoke of the Democratic National Convention. She's compared him to Hitler. If you remember Christy Witness Governor if you're a fireman or a cop, and you remember Christie Whitman is governor. Give me your thoughts, 1 800 to 83101.5. And if you're going to sell me on Joe Biden tell me what he's going to do. Or sell the audience. Because I don't hear. I'm gonna do this. I'm going to do that. I'm going to do this. I hear a lot of reaction. You know, Trump is against the masks, and suddenly he says, All right, wear a mask. And next thing you know, Biden mandate that everybody should wear a mask for three months and we wait a minute. Can't do that. If Trump couldn't mandate he could open up the stick country anytime you wanted, and Biden can't mandate you couldn't have to wear masks for three months. Arrives in Deptford, New Jersey, one on 1.5 rod. Hey, Steve. How you doing, pal? How are you? Doing good. Had quick comment on listening to our former president Bill Clinton, lecturing our present president about the Oval Office words to the effect that it should be a command center and not a storm center. Get your cigars. Uh, well, I'm just wondering that he used the whole office for something other than paperwork and phone calls back when he was in there. I thought it was funny when Kellyanne Conway put her feet on the couch. And how dare you put your feet on that couch? And do you know what Clinton did on that? Come on, Seriously, feed on the couch. Come on. Ron, Thanks for the call to New Jersey one on 1.5. Let's talk. Tio Pat is in Marlton under jersey 1/1 0.5 that just set the record score with In a shocking dream. Obama accused President Trump of downplaying the Corona virus crisis for too long, she argues Trump's response to the outbreak has been marked by chaos division and in her words. Total and other utter lack of empathy. A group of Republicans spoke out against President Trump at the Democratic Convention, the number of Republicans included to John Kasich. The former Ohio governor, who said the U. S is on a path of division and dysfunction. Former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman said former vice President Biden could get the US back on track, not Donald Trump. Former Hewlett Packard CEO Meg Whitman also spoke Republican and a longtime CEO. And let me tell you, Donald Trump has no clue how to run a business, let alone an economy. So members of the Illinois congressional delegation have their own virtual meeting to talk about issues facing the country, a little U. S Senator Dick Durbin says when it comes to the middle class. It's time to get back to the base and whether we're talking about a living wage. Whether we're talking about card check membership efforts for protection in the workplace, time and again, we've got to come back to basic principles. What I okay, we have some sound we should play. Right I can play the two songs that I produced the new right and then I. I got a call you on the carpet. Literally for something you said on the air that first of all. I can't believe you did it and I can't believe you. Set It on the radio so okay, let's let's. We, have all know now. We're out of time because you don't WanNa talk about it. Okay I. Don't want address this. Okay, so by the time is, is this the? Lab You know what I'm talking about take. The word yourself toward yourself as in the subject matter well just not not not not easy dot. He's not beyond doubt. No, no, okay. Let's get tried to suck their own Dick. Oh my God! You're that guys. We all did that at one point guard. It's we all have when we were kids. Someone somewhere along the way yet. You definitely tried it, but that's another story and I firmly stand behind that. I said on the air in wide. Say it like that because we're not allowed to, but that's why these podcasts cool. Because we could say whatever the fuck we want. However you want, but anyway, but that's another. That's for later. Okay, let's get to some sound and then we'll address this. Because you're bullshitting me. I. How bullshitting You I? Haven't said a word. You bullshitting me if you're bullshitting on. Hold on. Hold on tried I. Don't want to have this conversation till the end will you shut up shall follow that. How can I play sound clips? Because now? People who like I don't want to sound clips. I will hear the story. You just sabotaged you just completely. You complete ties. Yes, I love the Oh my. God didn't talk about the Beastie Boys Story. We can give you my revolt speaking to sabotage by the way there's a band that I loved. Elissa longtime ago called sabotage. Love them now, little known fact about sabotage. They were a hair metal band late eighties. Early mid eighties late eighties, but they were also very. A lot of instrumentation, they played the piano that orchestras occasionally in their sound they did rock opera CDs with all. The whole CD was a big piece of production anyway that members of that band. Went on to become Trans Siberian orchestra. That's right right so sometimes when I miss song that instrumental rice, actually right so a couple of the guys from Transsiberian were guys who were founding members or members of sabotage with a V., so because I like that band so much sometimes when I'm saying words, sabotage I sometimes say sabotage with a V., and then after remember the Beastie Boys Song is sabotage, and then helps me remember to say the word so although I'm a words are normally sometimes I sabotage and hope nobody notices it. Go back and listen to What's what album is it? A hail to the king may be no. It's a rock. Opera is sabotage. Sabotage had an album's raw was fantastic. Red Album cover now. We're talking Christine Todd Whitman from last week there. Okay so last week Christie Todd Whitman. was talking about how the pandemic cross state lines and I played it last week, and she said the wrong thing twice play the clip last week..

"We reopen and how we do this, because this corona virus doesn't care about geopolitical boundaries, they could care less. It could care less about one state or the other people travelled between them so. All Man Christie, Todd Whitman says the corona virus could care. Less could care less could careless. It couldn't care less thank you Christie Todd Whitman now. He's using personification. Though I liked that Jeff giving it real. Human thoughts and feelings, so maybe the corona virus could cares what she's saying. Because it, it could care less, which means it does care. So they go now. This commercial gonNA play clip from. I've seen it a hundred times. It's one of those commercials they must have got some kind of discount rate for so whenever they have no commercials, or because people aren't advertising right now. Because of the you know the the pandemic it's probably gotten a good rate. A discount rates advertising like crazy now. I I heard the guy say this and I'm like Oh. My God. I can't believe he said that so I got this clip. You're about to hear it's for a company called the farmer's dog now. I googled I searched on twitter, and a lot of people were laughing about this commercial, but I to a after. This is over I wanNA rip apart. Somebody on on twitter. Who Just tweeted? Something ridiculous doesn't make any sense anyway. This guy in the commercial. The whole point of the farmer's dog is that they have quality dog food, right? So this guy in the commercial when you see it I'm going to tweet it out. 'cause somebody posted it on twitter. I'll tweet the link out. You'd probably find it on Youtube. The farmer's dog. The guy in the commercial is trying to get a point across that. He knows nothing about dogs. He got a dog and he didn't realize that better. Dog Food was better. He just thought you know he's like. And then I realized wait a minute. Dog Food has food in it I mean. He honestly should never be allowed near a dog, but I want to hear the qualities and the benefits of farmers, dog, dog, food and listen for one particular. Go ahead scary. I've.

I. P. rest in peace so he showed a little **** again he piled on Bloomberg like everybody else piled on Bloomberg but he goes into the the Nevada cotton so he called his is this weekend probably won't do too well still has a chance in South Carolina because it's still such a crowded field yeah and let's face it Bloomberg is not a player in South Carolina he's not on the ballot tailed although probably some people going to vote for him just because of the onslaught of the commercial set of back to back belly to belly wherever you go in this country it's funny to see their reaction today will actually last night as it was happening and then the reaction today by all the analysts who are saying this is just gonna knock Bloomberg right out I mean the fact is if you look back at the beginning of the campaign there are a lot of people who came on a really strong who are and my A. now and there are a lot of people that were just wishy washy or really just ineffective who are now in the lead judge it's one photograph of a photo album that's what I always say about these debates he only take about a whole Royd picture you put it in the album yeah it's a bad start on this stage with all of his enemies yeah but he still did score points whenever he could that would suggest that he is different than anybody else on that's true but because of the onslaught against him he was very exposed everything about him was very exposed and that's the problem I mean look you had one of his biggest cheerleader sitting right across from you staring at you and I'm no longer is big cheerleader because of what I saw last night and because of that what I've seen over the last few days I mean granted I've been under the weather so I have been paying that much attention but just listening to sort his sort of dripping sarcasm in sort of belittling and demeaning how to get away from is a big problem is an as they March on to super Tuesday yes and the number of the campaigns will have to give up because he won't have the money it's going to be him and Bernie and now you have Democrats who are going to say Bernie is a guarantee that we lose the presidency the house in this and yes even in places where we have Blue we can't take that choice warts and all we got to go to Bloomberg who in a way has a lot of the same baggage as Donald Trump so if trump attach him its site there are two fingers pointing right back at trump same indiscretion that's the greatest way to put it to me and again this is just my opinion pretend like I'm sitting across from you and I'm your friend to me Bloomberg last night came across as a smarter less corrupt trump and that's a problem well up next though it was Elizabeth Warren and I really believe this was choreographed by everyone they realize they got a they got a chop discuss common size or most of them will be left on the stage for the next debate so I think they they felt warns standing right next to him let her go let her go for the jugular and boy she rocked Michael Bloomberg's well you could just tell from his body language he was not expecting that but first let's get on news headlines and updates formation you crossed from the capital of the world radio seventy seven W. media at the church of the fake news wasn't it a culture club's all is the church of the faith good news no the tweet appears to have been deleted as it no longer appears on her feet why why I mean really if you believe that why why would you take it down I tweeted this after I have not gotten a response if you want to call me former governor I'm here for you one eight hundred two eight three one a one point five and be happy to put John you know maybe and make a little broccoli rob you know come in with the help of Pete is in Middletown New Jersey what a one point five hi Pete how you doing she's one to compare someone it look she's killed more people than trump with the air is fine come on back down alone in that yeah all I need is the air that I breathe and Christine Todd Whitman yeah Friday I go for my annual cancer screening for my long saying stuff I'm sorry what they paid me for some new York's they got their money's worth governance I haven't had one Ted teddy anything but a flap morning since I can't remember the last time we had a governor was work the air we breathe so you know what this woman stole from your pension on top of everything you know just to make matters worse but best of luck they will pray for you absolutely all right thank god be thanks to call in New Jersey one one point five and your service to ground zero let's talk to Caroline in Waterford a New Jersey one one point five eight Carolyn hi how are you good you I'm good I'm good thank you so yeah I would want so what do I think is he going to do the hard the same thing you did the comings in Baltimore is gonna bring up every crap thing he's done all the money that he she's taking all the money he took from the people of New Jersey anything a recognition that transfer right back into the headlines where she doesn't want to be so she puts you down deleted it because she doesn't want to be back in the headlines to see what she'd done to the people here in this state you know I I don't think so for one reason she now worth it she's not even she's not relevant you know I mean like everywhere Hillary different she's not she's irrelevant she's she's nothing she's like he's like the old lady just sitting in a chair Barton stuff out Barton stuff out that's exactly right and maybe he won't thank you for that but and there are some things I wish that he wouldn't treat out because this policies get clouded by some of the things that he treats out there some people who deserve it she needs to sit back and keep her mouth shut and retire and and and whatever but just like Baltimore reference Iraq Cummings took all that money and did absolutely nothing with this city and what happened Republican volunteers had to go in and clean the Cydia I was right back in the headlines and where is he now it in a chair with his mouth shut thank you Carol thanks for the call to New Jersey one a one point five I don't think she's relevant enough for him to do that and I agree with you like it why he tweets eat you know what I think that the tweeting is just his former recreation now this is yeah I remember this was the first reality television star Donald Trump and for all of his life he was playboy Donald Trump he was real estate mogul Donald Trump whether he added or not that's what everybody thought he was everybody thought the definition of rich was Donald Trump and all through the eighties all through the nineties now he's got a job now he's the president of the United States now he's got the most difficult job in the country and I think that it is down time the way he relaxes is to you know view like the cat with the ball you want going to be tweaks people to get a reaction I think is a much to keep them going I would wonder what it would be like what the opinion of the present it would be if we just relied on what he did on the job and not so much what he tweeted out but we're not a nation that cares about what goes on on the job we are more concerned with the tweets you know that's why the entertainment news goes front and center that's why more people care about what happens with the celebrity couple there what's going on in the world with his war dot is on two eighty seven in New Jersey one or one point five eight dot I'm sorry Tom how are you that's okay we Dave I'm good how are you I'm good we think it will first one thinking after your last couple call it a lot may god bless the thank you for your service absolutely the second thing I'm I want to say I'm out I am a full fledged from supporter I I think the disgrace which she what she tweeted but she doesn't stand behind it but I am a little towards the I am kinda comparing him to Hitler myself okay I I'm I'm a little torn at what he did with the with the Turkey well let and Turkey and bait and great the Kurds like that and we stood by the Kurds and we contacted a man I feel like we abandon them and and that this can be a lot of a lot of bloodshed and I think I think it's gonna work it's it's this people turning on because of it well you know what thank you now I gather were you saying like I'm you know the the foreign policy is different like a Hitler and the Jews that was going on right in this country you know these were his countrymen that he was killing when you're talking about right yeah and we had to make that she compares him to you know something like that in our own country that just it over the top and ridiculous is gonna be a line that you know you guys can go at each other you want to you know you want to tweet stuff out and all that okay but at some point there's got to be some point there's got to be alive you know we went too far this time and I think there are no former governor compares a sitting president to the worst dictator history saying he has nothing on trump she's got to be a complete idiot she just either that or doesn't or history we are but we also have to admit one even if we love the guy we have to admit when we make our mistakes and I we made a mistake and that's when I called this one doesn't come back to bite you know perfectly legitimate point one eight hundred two eight three one oh one point five just gonna hang on how do you feel about former governor Christine Todd Whitman tweeting hashtag Hitler has nothing on hash tag trump over something that trump had absolutely nothing to do with the T. thirty.

"Warming. We could use some of that right now. Now, let us get into the state of play in Georgia. This is deeply relevant. You do need to be advised. The Democrats have decided they're gonna make Georgia a real play twenty twenty that they have the chance of picking up the Senate seat occupied by David Purdue. And also picking up the electoral college votes in Georgia to beat the president. They are going to pour resources in Georgia. They are signaling it by giving Stacy rooms the right to give the state of the union address. Now, no one ever remembers anyone who gives the state of the union address, and it tends to hurt their career. Stacey Abrams is smart enough to know this. And so is smart enough. I'm sure to try to design venue whereby she may be able to overcome the curse of the response. A christie. Todd Whitman a back in the in the ninety. She was the Republican governor New Jersey, she actually gave the address before the Republican legislature in New Jersey, and it was a pretty good forum and format for her to do that. It's one of the few memorable ones to this day. Marco Rubio is is picked on for taking a sip water during his response. We'll see how Stacey Abrams performs, but this is a very big signal. A very very important signal that the Democrats intend to make Georgia state of play in twenty twenty. This also reminds me of something that you all need to be aware of I you know, the way the parties in Georgia work the parties are divided into precincts as is the state voting population. And then from the precincts there is a county party. And then all of the counties that are in. District's get together, and they have congressional district party meetings, and they pick delegates to go to a state convention and in the state convention, they pick a chairman, I'm not try. I I need to I like the Republican party chairman in Georgia, and I need to have lunch with either some people thinking he's not going to run again. I think the state party has largely got comfortable and kind of put the new party chairman in a difficult position. And there's some rebuilding period that the Republican party has to Georgia. But it all starts on February ninth. You can get involved in party politics in Georgia very easily for both parties Republican democrat. I am not aware of when the Democratic Party meets, but the Republican party at the precinct level will begin meeting on February ninth. What happens is it pays into this? This is very important. And for those who care about the president, by the way, you can stop emailing me. You're you're trying to resolve. Of me on on whether or not I should be voting for the president to I expect to vote for the president twenty twenty my issues of his character, notwithstanding I expect I'll probably wanna voting for him. Thanks for listening as always climate change, walks talks, and is an ex central threat, not only to civilization, but also the biosphere now that's an imposing sentence and can seem so daunting as to cause paralyzing fear and in action, but two professors have written and optimistic data driven book called a bright future. How some countries have solved climate change and the rest can follow. Basically, a bright future helps lessen that paralyzing fear and map out relevant action. Before we hit the full interview. Here's the book trailer for bright future. Why are Steven pinker, George Shultz, Christine, Todd Whitman and James Hansen talking about a new way of looking at climate change. I'm professor Joshua Goldstein. My co author Stefan, Kristen, I don't represent any industry or ideology, our soul agenda is to figure out. How to actually solve climate change? The problem can seem overwhelming and impossible, but places like Sweden, France and Ontario. Canada have already slashed their emissions from fossil fuels and quickly. They've gone much further and faster than so called climate leaders like Germany and California if the world followed the successful model humanity could eliminate most fossil fuels by mid century. And stop a climate catastrophe. To learn about what these countries did. And what it means for the rest of us read our book, a bright future. How some countries have solved climate change and the rest can call one of their sub fears or fear threads around solving climate change is the adoption of nuclear energy now while a million times more efficient than coal literally the bad press around nuclear power has been earned over time. But there are newer technologies that can more safely be introduced I was a nuclear skeptic going into this interview and was disabused of two major fears. Okay. Anyway, let's.
