"Did it is just not a smart idea it just is he is your worst offensive player especially and Dave in those guys were talking about stats especially win. James Connor was averaging five yards a carry. He was averaging five yards a care he was starting to roll. They got the ball to him in space he catches the ball. He scores a touchdown. I mean Any points they almost have to play the game a little bit differently when they're in the red zone. It's almost like they should aim for field goals now touchdowns you you just gotTa get points. This defense is so good. They need to put points on the board touchdowns or great but man touchdowns or platinum the three points our goal at just just couldn't get around that game plan. Let me give you a quote from from the stack. He that I thought was great and I want to get your comments on it. The quote was creativity and Gimmicky is not the same thing. And that's my problem. Problem with Randy feet ner is for him to be creative I feel like he becomes gimmicky instead of being creative creative with formations personnel groupings Getting out of tendencies. I mean come on man when Zach. Banner is on the field where are they gonNA do. Jeff run the ball and they're going to run a run which way rated his side and what's going to happen. They're going to load the box and stop the run in. They're going to get like one and a half year or to carry out. This is what I would love for if Dave has the time to to. Just ask Dave if you're listening. What are the yards per carry when they bring him and they run to his side? I'M GONNA say at least a yard half when you're talking about predictability so when you're super overly predicted Your predictable that's Thornton thinking when you're really predictable in terms of your PAT personnel packages and your play calling. I feel like you have no versatility and you have to turn the gimmicks and it's not creative I I think back to the past in this goes back to when Ken whisenhunt was calling plays and then obviously Bruce Arians Todd Todd. Haley even They they had enough for thoughts to. I've talked about these packages in terms of personnel groupings. I I was listening to the stack the energy to I encourage everyone to listen to all of our podcast but that was a good one. I thought that was a really good episode for those two guys Last night in they talked about how. It's just so predictable within run it. I think back to even lady on bells time in Pittsburgh. What made him so great? Was it. The steelers. Were unpredictable wherever they put him him on the field. They ran out of the shotgun better than anyone at during that time They didn't have to have Ben Rothlisberger Center of and when they had him in the in lady on bells inside car right Sidecar Kerr left in the shotgun formation. They run it. They could throw it. They can do whatever they wanted. And I think that is the biggest issue in a lot of people especially on behind Hind the steel curtain dot com the comment section few people were piling on rain defeat ner and he doesn't have a lot to work with in when he talked about skill position players because for the the first time in the last say nine years the steelers failed to have a skill position player representative the pro bowl. We'll talk about that later. That's running back quarterback tight end or Out Receiver yes. He does not have a lot to work with your missing your hall of Fame Quarterback I get that you number one wide receivers her understand that to you Miss James Connor for at least three games. That's tough that should not change you using formations in personnel groupings. That you you think can win matchups in win football games so I understand both sides of the coin. I understand that randy feeder has been handcuffed a little bit in terms of few years available table too. I also understand that. That's not an excuse to be vanilla and to be predictable. That's just my take because I'm like vanilla ice cream. Ah Vanilla. Ice Cream is good especially when it has like the little vanilla beans in it you know. hogging vanilla is really tasty. It's better than Bluebell Bluebell. It might be better than the generic kroger ice cream. Or China Eagle so there are some differences inequality of vanilla ice cream right. Now the steelers is carrying is kroger or Johnny. Can we at least get some whole foods. Some haagen-dazs soon dryers vires or some briars vanilla. I mean I think that's all what steeler fans talk about We already know that. The steelers are hampered and hindered third by the personnel. They can't be doubly hindered by a coordinator that isn't creative. And here's the other thing and I don't want you to talk about optus. Jeff you convince me when I saw duck hodges through it forty two times in a game is when Ben comes back. We all know what's going to happen when Ben Comes. Oh my gosh. That's not even a talking point. We all know the answer to that. I mean we all through it. Forty two times against buffalo one of the best defense in the National Football League important today in a must basically a must win game. You Win this game you pretty much solidify your playoff hopes you beat the jets over your in your the five seed just imagine when seven incomes back what this offense is going to look like Pass pass pass pass in were passing. They are not gonNA play to his defense. But since we're still talking about this offense artists dealers making a mistake. It keeping duck as the starter. We saw Tomlin come out In be pretty assertive in his belief that duct remain the starter Do you want to speak to any of his comments in his press conference. Do you think the steelers are making a mistake. Keeping Duck is the starter and just how short is the leash on duck if he goes out and has a bad first. First half against the jets. I want to bring up this super cab. which kind of tight ties in with everything? This is Nine ninety nine is law of Minka. Uh in the sack brothers. The steelers from four need help from the offense in this Kinda ties into what we're talking about. Based on the fact that in my opinion it comes down to. Who's going to help the offense offense the most in this point it comes down to basically I hate to say this but if it's between Mason Rudolph and deadline hodges pick your poison? You could die from both He. Which one do you WanNa die from? I mean that's that's what it feels like this quicker. Yes because you said it before war in I have to agree with you at this point. We don't you don't trust Mason. Rudolph forgotten your football game. Devon Hodges would you say that you trust him a little bit more lance ants. Hey I'm Jason Del Rey. I recently wrapped up land of the giants the rise.

"Early and I think you gave me irresponsible and remember what is worse tonio brand onto the Patriots or Katie go into being Kevin Durant people yeah I mean Kevin Durant and went through the proper channels to do it. He played out his contract. He made a decision that was best for him personally and that's fair but to the team that beat them exactly the Patriots have notoriously beat the steelers in the NBA. If you're you know one guy you can sway the difference between East West. NBA Champion you know NBA title runner up. He was going to a made bed like he was he made he took the easy way out in my opinion eighty K. D. yet don't Antonio Brown's second easy way up. He's not playing for Patrick Mahomes. He went to go play for Tom fucking Britain right but in the NBA like your starters twenty percent of the starting starting lineup like still even with Antonio Brown lining up at wide receiver and he's GonNa be he's GonNa be nine percent of the starting lineup so I mean there's a lot different. They lost the right tackle on Sunday night centers out for the year so yeah I expect the Patriots speak very good. Do I think they're gonNA go undefeated now. Do I think they're gonNA win the Super Bowl probably but ah you know we'll we'll see I hate it. There's a lot of I just hate that you pair the the best quarterback with early. The best receiver in the League arguably Iraq may be coming back bill reset week fourteen right supposedly we fourteen what the best coach it seems like a madman cheat code it does and we all have to sit here and watch another patriots hoople. We'll see but I mean this happened. Last year of Josh Gordon they gave up whatever fourth or fifth round pick for Josh Gordon that hasn't hasn't necessarily worked out Josh Gordon on his PS and QS in his back playing this year caught a touchdown Sunday there are just so many combustible parts to the Patriots Motor and engine that they could go undefeated or they could you know make the playoffs and lose I could see either. One of those scenarios is penny out. Tokyo Brown has episode as a new New England patriot. It's a great question honestly with everything you've seen. You know how Aleka Bocek runs is empire. in we have to point out this notion. There's been other bad seeds that have graced that locker room problem they don't last long. There's been a mixed bag. I mean dominic easily like he was a guy who is notoriously known for being a cancer well. He's as a problem and in a boom. They got him either. Look twelve years ago the the fucking Erin Hannon is by the way how about that guy twelve years ago. The Patriots sent a Fourth Round Pick the Oakland Raiders for troubled Surname Randy Moss that worked out pretty good yeah but randy was beyond decorated by that point he I mean he was on the tail in his career. I think he respected Tom. He respected a process. It was like you what let's go to work. There is an interesting story came out on Monday about Donte. Stallworth was talking about what it was like when Randy Moss came to the Patriots and he said in their first meeting. Can you know first offense. Meaning billick rips Tom Brady because he missed throw in the flat and he was saying how he can get a kid from high school to make this throw how how come how come Tom can't make the throne Dante stalwarts randy. Moss just looked at each other like this should Israel so I mean it shows with bill check if he if he goes after the best player in criticized the best player and the best part takes it you know as other guys on the team with less rings than Tom Brady you kind of have to fall in line so I think never had to take it even in Pittsburgh. Even even with Ben Chirpin atom even would rainy fit near the offense coordinator saying stuff to them even with Mike fucking Tomlin who's more than enough time coming onto my you need a cool out is what you need to do better. XYZ He still still was rampant. He still was aw sometimes uncontrollable. I mean he was was joined as like he's with the browns. Now Tho see not Haley Todd Todd Todd Haley like for all the coaches that really try to get a beer to try to control helping motivate them in a positive way. He still was like I may be you know what I'm doing. I would love I would love for him to fall in line. Just this is show the world that is possible 'cause right now. It doesn't seem like it's possible and that's the part that's part of the drama that falls in line with being a patriot. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA see if Bella checks rain or Tom. Brady's rain in power is Israel because the one I. I don't know I'm up in the air. I think the first time battle check those at his head. Ab Pushes back he he may not yeah. I can't wait to see that it's going to be must see TV. two very different personalities seemingly should clash so we'll we'll see how that turns out. The Cleveland browns are the darling of the NFL a lot of offseason moves bringing Odell Beckham junior among others. They should the bed. We won at home. They WANNA. They WANNA see no prince sixteen years now. It's two thousand four yeah Where do we go from here being a team with expectations -tations which expectations in Cleveland are sky high? How do you as a player? You played a lot of Pittsburgh steelers teams. That certainly had a lot high expectations. How do you deal with that as a player Ego Stephen Ego leave it at the door? Your feelings don't matter Baker. Mayfield we get it. You're tough captain comeback. You have all the makings of guide I would go into a back alley with however your ego. You have to check it. The Tennessee Titans didn't care about the Cleveland Cleveland browns and there is you would have same browns so they treated you like such however it was shame on the Cleveland Browns Jarvis Landry. You haven't been to joke right to you have appleby Jay who wore a fucking watch to the to the field field rather an invalid they have a young coach Freddie Kitchens uh check their egos these a lot of high personality guys who believe in themselves their brand and one thing about the game of football. Nobody gives you anything. The worst team in the league will give you hell. I've been a part of that. I've been on some bad teams as given other teams. Who Have you know super bowl contentions or are they look they're on their way to go into the playoffs or possibly the NFC championship? We've given them hell because guys don't lead their ego in the car when they park like their car before they go into the stadium. The game will give you nothing. You have to earn everything. It doesn't matter how high profile athlete you are doesn't matter how big or small all your it's about doing your job and doing it in a detailed fashion at a high efficient level. You can't overlook the team or the garden in front of you so I can see the Cleveland browns all summer watching you know every trae. All summer can't watch people in the crowd petain pitchers everybody you know there's a buzz as you know I was talking to jeff the lower people so crazy about this game against Tennessee people showed up on Friday just for Sunday game the the city. There's a buds to it so sir drinking juice you start getting these taps on your back. you start realizing like man. We know we're too big. Swinging Dick in this city lebrons gone obviously you you start to believe that you're automatically going to the super bowl. False the Tennessee titans also went to training camp. They also have a blue collar coach. Mike variable who played against that guys. He's blue-collar. He's tough. He's GonNa make sure those guys go to work that defense flu around out there you know Marcus Mariota I mean people we're fifty fifty on him but he's a scrappy quarterback and that office align for Tennessee daycare to play football you have to play four quarters and if you're in the AFC north they should should know better. That's a different type of brand football. That's more rugged bare knuckle type football so I m the county butts looked and not show up until one see the star receiving LBJ shop with a with a quarter million dollar watch his mind wasn't on a game. His mind was on brandon distractions ego. I hi me not we you know I wanNA know. WHO's the guy in the halftime? So you know what this is bullshit. We're better this. Who is that guy? Was it baker who knows what the problem is. We had to sit here and watch browns team who we all expected to be this lights out bad ass team take the field with Landry injury and an ob Jay and Baker and they look like the browns. We know him to be can't happen now. Let's say this is only week one yup overreaction Monday. I'M GONNA percent cent is only week one and we do know a lot of stars. Do not play during a preseason. You guys are knocking off Russ trying to get acclimated trying to get themselves going so I'm interested interested to see what the browns look like next Monday night against my jets Yep LBJ'S I you know back in the building since he left visitors and so we'll see how pans out but I spent his brown seen to turn it around I do. I think they have enough talent. They got enough. you know they got enough personality. Get it done on both sides of the ball but they have to drop the eagles their egos. Excuse me Eagles will kill a team and I'm telling you I've been on some really really good teams and what's always killed us as egos the team that I wanted my super bowl with the most selfless human beings I've ever played with yeah they I mean from troy power model to Ben Rothlisberger to hines ward to James Harrison. There wasn't a task job on and off the field. They weren't willing to do and I mean. It was contagious guys if if you if you give a guy order they were biting at the bit to go conquer to conquer mission the browns have to get to that point and that comes with maturity that comes with experience in that comes with the level of being humble but I don't know how much more the browns it'd be fucking humble so we'll see I. I'm just I'm not I'm not. I don't think the browns had done but they gotta check themselves. Check themselves now and if I'm Jay never wear watch on the field that's ridiculous the with with a first year head coach Freddie Kitchens. How do you see this working out the past few internal hires have not been very good if you look at the whole landscape of the NFL Dirk Cutter Ben mcadoo a few others not really successful being promoted from within from offensive coordinator to head coach? Do you think that's an issue or or how would players that are already in the locker room deal with that and I mean you were in a situation or no sorry we talked to Bart Scott about the situation where they wanted to promote from within with REX Ryan Haniya didn't necessarily work out team went a different direction but do you think it's an advantage or maybe even a disadvantage to hire from within. I think that everybody's by is worthy of that type of promotion. I think it comes with but this is why you have team captains while you have locked room because those guys if you're GM or your or you're the owner of the team you take three of the you know you take three guys who the most vested the most tenure on your team and you have an honest meeting put their name on a board put their face next to windows guys. Tell me what you know. Tell me how you feel before I make that type of transition or that type of promotion because those guys who you know who have been on team him for six or seven eight years they go to tell you the truth. They have nothing to hide data monies in the bank channel there on his second contract so they're like hey. What do you WanNa no and that's who you start talking to? I think before you start reaching around the coaches looking outside or even inside taunted guys locker room because chasers. That's their persistent coach or a guy. They've you know they've watched outside of their own position and say you know what I would like for instance for instance. I Love Anthony Lynn. Uh when I was at the jets he was running back coach. I love everything about him is known he had a no nonsense approach. He was easy to talk to. He was deliberate he wasn't afraid to the guy's ass out and he was afraid to do it on the field and he wasn't afraid to do it in the building and sometimes we get into a different guys. you know rest in peace..

"And by the way, not hold on. You think they go into the season next year with Tom Brady hoping that he can play sixteen games or they know he's gonna play sixteen games. Hoping. Okay. Okay. So it's no different than every other player. Right. I know. But when you have a quarterback shown that he gets hurt and doesn't finish you have to you have to count for football. When you play football every player steps on the field is susceptible to being injured. You hope they all can play sixteen games. But the reality is they're going to be some to get injured. It's just a luck of the draw a which ones that do get injured. That's that's that's all it is go back. Let's go back to the phones. We have is in Collegeville. What's up is? How are you? On. Fold Carson Wentz. What do you want to do? What do you wanna do? I want ball. I seen to war ski I've seen Randall Cunningham. I've seen Rodney Peete I've seen them all. And you know what? I mean, none of them have gotten a Super Bowl except for Nikki Nikki sick. And I know they're not going to bring him back. I'm looking forward to Nikki six going to the giants or Washington. And I'm looking forward to him coming in here. And let's see what happens. What exactly what does that? What does that mean? That means that you're gonna win. He's a winner. Okay. So you're not really an eagle fan. Eagles fan. No. I know you've been quarterback. How's your fraud? Guys, don't want to hear it. But but Hartson work gets hurt every year life Carson every year. No forget about. You just said you just said, you hope Nick foles goes to another team. The giant comes back and beats. Not. From here because of. Can't be unequal. Long. Let me let me try to let me try to have a conversation with you real fast on this. All right. Well, I mean because I want him to answer the questions. What? Women. The Carson Wentz is their quarterback going forward. Right. It's the it's easy younger player. He has more upside Nick one Super Bowl. But Carson was there number two overall draft pick holistic hold on a second hold on a second. All right. So why are you mad at the eagles? Because they've said we're going to keep our young quarterback. That's twenty six years old that this is our future, and we love, Nick. But Nick, go ahead elsewhere and and find a team in and we wish you well. Why would you root against the eagles because he would go do that you can root for Nick Roberts nicknamed coming in? Root against the eagles because of any player younger quarterback twenty six twenty nine Oz. John against. Talking to you. You're not an eagles fan. And I'm a former player why would you root against the eagles for any player? Well, how about this like when when the I'm sorry, why would you root against the eagles for any player? Nick foles. Did he beat the patriots by himself? No. So are we going to root against the eagles for every player? They let go they won the Super Bowl. I hope not. Okay. He's not an eagles fan come on Oslo in Reggie White. Reggie White left and eagles didn't even try to resign him. He's one of the greatest players NFL history. I was so mad at the eagles. I did root against the team. The rest of the team was the team. That's my team. Yeah. If it's your team is your team be mad at ownership. You you're gonna be mad. They let Nick Li like roofer Nick don't really get your team is a giants fan. He knows what it is giants fan. Name was Oz. You probably wants Nick foles. That's what it is. You think so? I believe the giants. He was a big fan of is the HBO show is that y name himself is I don't think so no. At a BC. Tobias Beecher a good show for a while. Let's go to Chris on a cell phone. I chris. Guys, are you? What's up? That car before me, you should definitely moved to New York. You saw me. Gave me a headache that that's an incredible crime the site. Nuclei acid? I don't care who you are. I don't care if you were born and raised in New York and your Philly fan. You don't ever say that now? But back saying, I think that we need to get rid of Nick foles. I'm the same ages Carson, and when I was in college there were younger kids coming up, and when they when they're young kids. I thought we're going to be or I should say I mean, it's kind of the same situation they're younger than me. They're looking I got my back. I'm looking behind my back every time that throws them off a little bit throw off the game. I think I mean, you can't have Nick foles sitting there smiling waiting for the first time they lose. All right. Let's put and that's gonna destroy our franchise quarterbacks ego right there. I I believe. I think we saw Lee. Thank you, Chris. I think we saw last year. What having Nick foles in the locker room? Can do why do think it makes the guy press? I agree does everybody who complains when he pressed when he presses. Like, why would you want him under that type of pressure? So when he's out there thinking, he has to do everything or he gets a little anxious about running certain plays, and he really gets like laser focused, and it has to be his way like all that stems from pressure. That's what it all stems from. And when you have a guy who you know is capable of doing your job. That's more pressure for you. That's anyone. That's anyone anyone. How would you like to be in a position where someone is right behind you? That can do your job is equally as you can't you wanna work with that person or already had. Or did he want? Everybody loves you want that person to go. Find him a job somewhere else. Yes. So you can do your job. Yes. You know what I'm saying? I wish you luck mango Kelly, go killer, man, you know, what I'm saying. But you know. Different was human nature. Eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four a head coach hue Jackson. Greg Williams at Todd Todd Haley on the staff three beg. Guys guys that have already done in the border successful than you ever. Been puts more pressure for you, eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four marks chickens and pizza in south Philly. Hey, one place that Nick foles maybe headed to is the Redskins, but a writer down there says. Yeah, that doesn't make much sense. Nick foles could not it's possible. His market is going to be not great. And he may come back to Philly and.

"They'll save three and a quarter million. So why would John Dorsey be telling us that? He's not sure what the future holds for guy that they just gave fifteen and a half million dollars to last year. It's not like he didn't play. Well, in fact, do Johnson actually wound up grading out as one of the most underutilized players in the game last year. He averaged five yards a carry over nine yards a catch. But he's he's got a very specific skill set at this point for the Cleveland Browns. And if you look at the personnel that they have where would the role be what would that role? Be what he's there. You know, a guy who can be your change of pace back. He can be your third down back though. He can lineup. I'm sorry. They they don't use it much as a runner. He part of the problem. He gets five and a half touches a game. And I understand that they have Nick Saban Nick Chubb who they took in the second round last year was one of the best backs in the league. And they wanna feed him the ball. Well, they did that. After hill. It gives you notice that everybody talks about Baker Mayfield. And how great Baker Mayfield played when Hugh Jackson and Todd Todd Haley were relieved of their duties, but you look that coincides as well with Nick Chubb becoming the workhorse back becoming the bell cow for the Cleveland Browns. And we know that look at it took them. It took them way too long into the season. How many games did it? Take them six seven games before they finally made Nick Chubb, the guy the bell cow back. How long did it take them to finally give Baker Mayfield the reins and say, okay, we're going to stop, you know, the whole back and forth thing I mean, look Baker Mayfield and Chubb should have been the starters from day one. But you Jackson cetera happens. We got earn your spot with some of these old school guys. You gotta earn your spot. I don't care if your first round pick second week four against Oakland. Nick had three carries for one hundred and five yards. I think one of the. And that point. Yeah. That was the most carries he'd gotten into game. In fact, the next two weeks. He got exactly three carries. What floors me about some of these rookie running backs from last year's all the attention went to saquon Barkley. But if you look at a guy like Sony Michelle who had knee injuries. And you saw what he did for the patriots. Especially in the postseason. It was incredible. And then, you know, you've got a guy like, you know, Rashaad penny who's buried in Seattle. You'll Ronald Jones is hurt in Tampa, Gary guys towards ACL in Washington Nick shop in Cleveland. We really haven't seen what a lot of these guys can do. But I think this has the ability. I think it's got the potential to be a very good running back class when it's all said and done and case in point look at the numbers that Nick chub put up just half a yard. And he's he's not a receiver. He he's primarily ABC between the tackles guy. Now, he he did have twenty catches last year. But you're right. He gets you know to catches here catch their three catches their news. Generally, not big yards. Do Johnson is a better receiver out of the backfield. The Nick Chubb is so far so far but jump who only started nine games last year. Was four yards shy of a thousand yards. On a team with a lousy offensive line part of the reason saquon Barkley get so much attention. He had over two thousand yards from scrimmage behind one of the worst, offensive lines and football. And that's a guy who literally is making the miss. There was there was a point in the season where over ninety eight percent of saquon Barkley rushing yards came after contact let let me ask that's insane. There's been a lot of talk about you know, Baker Mayfield or saquon Barkley Baker Mayfield got screwed out of the rookie. I don't have a problem with saquon Barkley getting it. But you you mentioned that run it seems to me, and I don't know if I'm right or I'm wrong. And I know you're a giants guy. So maybe you can shed a little bit of light on this. We see a lot more saquon Barclays highlights and a lot more of the splash plays. Then we get them. Baker mayfield. Does that play into some sort of perception that? Saquon Barkley had a better year. The Baker Mayfield. I would disagree with that. We saw tons of Baker Mayfield stats highlights. We saw Tun's. Baker Mayfield highlights every touchdown pass through was a highlight. Every every time he escaped the pocket and made something happened. It was a highlight. Because the Browns have been trashed for so long every time. There was something positive to talk about the Browns was almost always Baker me. I'm talking about right now right now when we're looking at these video packages when you see things on all of these sports networks NFL network, I see a lot of saquon Barkley. I don't see I see talk about Baker Mayfield. But I don't see Baker Mayfield highlights. I don't see Baker Mayfield scramble. I don't see. A Baker Mayfield. Touchdown pass. I don't know watched at the wrong time. I see plenty of Baker Mayfield stuff. Maybe you maybe I need to get the Cleveland regional NFL network. Then they go or the one that's in Katie one or the other. Yeah, we live in different suburbs. So may-. Yeah. Maybe maybe because we're neighboring suburbs that I don't I don't get the same NFL. Now, we're coming up to call my local cable subscriber. But the point being Duke Johnson has a pretty good contract. And he's a productive back. So he's got a contract. And he's productive. And it's not an a horn contract. Why would John Dorsey we talking about? We're not sure what his role is going to be. And that reason would be well the Browns decided to take the plunge. And sign Kareem hunt to a one year one million dollar deal. The same Kareem hunt who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs. After video came out of him getting physical with a female. Where he pushed her. Another one. He Gabriel small kick. Small cake because I think he kicked her about is. I don't think he kicked a very hard. But the point is he still did it, and it's still loathsome. In despicable. For a guy who's two hundred and sixteen pounds to put his hands on a woman. But the Browns decided, hey, you know, what we're going to get in on this not only are we going to get in on this. We're gonna get in on this before the league hands down a decision on. How long Kareem hunt suspension is going to be remember he was put on the Commissioner's exempt list. That means he's basically going to sit in limbo until the league gets around to figuring out what they're going to do with them. It's it's a weird. Dynamic the league is created because they just have no idea how to handle domestic violence issues. So while they continue I think their third investigation now into Kareem hunt. It's kind of just crazy that the Browns who we want to think of the Browns is going in the right direction. They're moving forward. They're they're actually building their team to go forward. They are going to take on Kareem hunt. I think what the expectation he's gonna sit. He's going sit a while. Considering that the video is just one of the three incidents that the NFL now knows about from the off season. I would expect Kareem hunt is going to sit at least six games. I mean, if the NFL really wanted to be jerks about it. Not that. I would have a problem with it considering we're dealing with jerk. If they really wanted to be jerks about it. They could hit him for each individual incident separately, and that would probably cost him the whole year. Nine think they'll do that? But I do think he will get at least six games here. Here's my question with that. And I know we're kind of up against, but I just want to ask you this real quick. And at least put it out there if the Browns signed him for one year one million dollars, and he's gonna sit a minimum of six games. Hypothetically, you're going to get him for ten. What kind of return on the investment are the Browns going to get on this? Well, remember, they don't pay him while he was suspended. So you're talk, however, however long he's suspended that comes out of that million dollars. It's gonna be a league minimum deal. And. Long. It takes him to get back into shape to be ready to play might take another three weeks after that. So maybe you're gonna get them for the back six. But if you're on a playoff race and having Kareem hunt who led the league in rushing two years ago. If you get that guy for the back six, that's that's a pretty big addition to your team, and let's face it. That's the only thing that matters. I'll tell you why. It's the only thing that matters next. The power hour with Jake. But. The Phillies have money to sign Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, but maybe they won't sign both them because they're apparently saving money for Mike trout when he hit free agency and two more years seriously sign Harper Machado if you can and try and win now sign the best players now put a winning crock on the field because the city of Philadelphia they deserve also twenty twenty one is an important year in baseball because there may not be baseball. We might have a lockup considering nobody wants to get paid nowadays waiting trout. You waiting for nothing. You are saying basically, I had these two really attractive girls that we could get right now. I can have them come over right now. But I'm gonna wait two years from now because I know there's a supermodel out there. And we think we might be able to get her. She's engaged. She's going to be married in two years doofus. "It's comrade football three levels played they played together. They did a good job of. For the most part really stopping the run and try to make it as one dimensional as they can. So they did a pretty good job of keeping the game the pocket, and then forcing them to kind of make some throws under duress. Good job finishing. Offensively. What did you see that? Just didn't have a very good day up front. We had a couple of opportunities on splayed possibly there were touched on your explosive plays that we didn't hook up on. This is one of those games were not allowed right for us. But they did get the win. And that's the most important thing. Thirteen to six dolphins knock off the jets to move to five and four on the season. Brock Osweiler one hundred thirty nine yards passing. No touchdowns. But also, no turnovers. And that was the big difference. Darnold, four Osweiler nothing and the dolphins. Get the victory thirteen six over the jets. Okay. So right now, you have the chargers twelve seven as they have just scored again as Melvin Gordon with a thirty nine a thirty four yard run. And after Caleb Sturgis missed the previous point after they go for two in the past failed. So right now twelve seven chargers lead the Seahawks by five in Seattle Texans on top of the Broncos seven three and the saints. And the Rams are even at seven as well. It was the debut as Greg Williams takes over the interim coaching duties following the firing earlier this week of Hugh Jackson and offense coordinator Todd Todd Haley, it did not go. Well. The chiefs one of the best teams in football. Certainly the best buy record in the AFC right now at eight and one beat the Browns by a score of thirty seven to twenty one the new head coach these impressions of his team today. I've always been impressed with them. You know, like him as a player like the way what I saw on the field with him and. I'm anxious to hear how everybody says, you know, tomorrow, you know, that the responses and how he how he improved, but you could see the guy, you know, belongs in our league, you know, and he he let our football team. And I'm sure it'll be things that he'll say he'll get better, and he'll get better, and he'll get better seeing it before it happens. We're going to be satisfied, you know. Until you shot somebody out. Okay. But they played hard. We got tackled better. And we've got to produce a couple a couple other places on some pivotal play type things that could have forced him to have more third downs. But we need to create more third-down opportunities. Diversity.

"Week nine college football. One of those games. I think we need to watch because it's the division is not overly strong. But it's interesting because you got four teams that can all win it one of which is just kind of flying under the radar playing really good football with a nasty defense. And I'm talking about Iowa bell out of the big ten west. Of course, they go to Penn State and union watch Iowa in Penn State coming up today. I think at three thirty one later this year real quick thirty three thirty. Thank you very much. When you watch that you will see on ESPN. Brian greasy who joins us right now on the shell Pennzoil performance line. We've seen Brian good to have you with us. Then thank you. Penn State's offense at times has sputtered. It's inconsistent. And was defense is at times phenomenal coming off of a shutout against Maryland team. That does have some talent would kind of success. Do you think? Penn State has moving the football enough to win this football game. Hey, good morning guys. Good to be with you. You know, I think this is going to be very close game. I think it's you mentioned Penn State's offense. They they've had problems. They have real issues on the offense side. I don't think that we can underestimate the talent that's gone from from a season ago. Mike Ezekiel titan obviously saquon Barkley, but they Sean Hamilton might be the biggest loss at the wide receiver position for the Penn State team as a whole I think everybody knows about saquon Barkley and talent the generational talent that he was but mile Sanders has stepped in and played admirably. He's been solid at the running back. It's the wide receiving corps that has really let down this team. And it's gotten so bad guys that it's starting to affect the amount of trust that trace McSorley has in throwing the football to these guys. They have twenty two drops on the year that is unbelievable spat to think about and you think about how that affects the mindset of a quarterback. And now this Penn State offense has really become dependent on the legs of trace McSorley had another one hundred yards in the game a week ago. He had the score twice in that game to beat an Indiana teams. That is nowhere near the talent of Penn State. So there's gonna be some some points in this game where you know, Phil Parker, and this I would defense the number one rushing defense in the big ten is gonna take away that run game for Penn State and make these wide receivers beat them. And that's gonna be the challenge for Penn State. Brian is a former quarterback in the big ten and knowing how important coaching is and Kirk Farren snout is twenty th year. Hayden fry was there forever. Built those great Iowa teams. Phil Parker's you mentioned there for just about all Turks tenure at Iowa. And you see this defense you mentioned Penn State's losses on offense. I will lost six of their top eight tacklers, including guys like Josie Joel and Josh Jackson the defensive back yet here. They are they're fourth and a conference with twenty two sacks tied for third in the conference in interceptions with nine coaching cotton. Nudie with coaching goes, very underrated. When people start talking about these schools in college football and how they're doing what they're doing Brian. I was had that were with Phil Parker. And now they lose six atop tackles the hill are so with a great defense. How important is that continuity with the coaching at Iowa over the years? I don't think there's any question male. I mean, you see it the the NFL scouts NFL coaches. See it outside of Nick Sabin and Alabama. There's nobody that gets their players more out of their players and more ready for the NFL than Kirk parents and his staff so Parker being one of them. So this this is a defense that that as you mentioned lost all three of their linebackers who were gore Stutz, but this defense is built on the defensive line this year. They're not always starting new guys that linebacker. They're starting to true freshman at the corner position. So you wanna talk about getting getting guys ready to play a collegiate level? So Parker plays a base defense doesn't do a whole lot doesn't like the blitz a whole lot. He's going to keep the ball in front of him. And he's gonna make you beat them. You remember this game from a year ago? This was one of the best games of college football. And it was won by trace McSorley on a last second throw to John Parker in the end zone. But before that play Penn State and that offense was with Barkley. All this talent McSorley, they had fifteen points on the board. So this this Iowa defense. So Parker know how to play this game. They know how to get there. Guys ready, and it's going to be a challenge for Penn State. Brian greasy joining us on the call three thirty eastern time on ESPN, Iowa at Penn State. I want to stay at the big ten real quick, Brian and leave this game for a minute. But. Your Michigan guy. We remember that obviously Mel put Michigan in the playoff before the season. I wasn't buying it and they lose to Notre Dame. And all of a sudden, it's like, see Michigan, blah, blah, blah, blah too much hype. It's a different team. Now, why if you feel this is the case why is this Michigan team different than the previous ones under Jim Harbaugh? Well, everybody wants to say, we first of all we know that the defense was going to be good under Don Brown is kind of a given defense was going to be good, and everybody's pointing to the quarterback now in in shape Patterson, and it is a different look was shape. Patterson in there with his feet his ability to take some pressure off the run game. But for those of us that were Michigan fans that are watches team in the last five years is the the downfall has been evident, and it's been the offensive line. And they they have not been able as an offense to get any kind of consistency. Protect a quarterback on offense. And I think that is the biggest difference this year, they're not world up upfront on the offense of wine, but they're good enough now to protect shape Patterson in the passing game to open up some holes for Koran Higson what I think is their MVP on the offense and then allowed shape Patterson to run some of the zone read stuff to to get some yards when it's most needed on especially on third and fourth down in the red zone to me the offense. The line is the biggest difference from Michigan and real quick, Bryan. Ohio State on the flip side with urban Meyer, not being there, and all that talk and all that distraction disruption, then Nick Bosa not playing anymore football and away from the program. Now has that it's been too much to overcome can Ohio State rebound and get into the final four mixed Brian. Or are they are your best to write them off? Wow. You know, I certainly make both hurts because defensively they look like a different team defensively having a hard time stopping the run. But I I don't think offensive issues are are about urban Meyer not being there. I think it has everything to do with people underestimated how valuable J T Barrett was especially in the run game. And it's not Dwayne Haskins game. And so now, you're you're trying to become a passing team when you don't have wide receivers that are used to being a part of a passing game. And and so I think the lack of a run game and being able to stop the run. That's not an easy fix for Ohio State. So I don't see them turn around real quick. Brian will be watching you at three thirty on ESPN, man. Thanks so much for spending part of your Saturday morning with us. We know you could use more than us. But we appreciate it. Great great to talk with you guys. And I'll take care of mcshea here on the road. You Todd Todd. I said. I don't lie. But you can hey, Brian just take note, we chose you instead of him from this crew. Okay. Make sure you tell them that Brian. I will see you see all right guys areas. Brian greasy again Penn State hosting Iowa. Three thirty eastern. I'll get a call from Todd Todd Haley. Heck? Yeah. You, you know, what's sleeping? So he's probably he's probably, thanks. I'll tell you. He's out doing his five mile run. Does he run five miles everywhere? You get everywhere. He goes. It is I will say this. It is fun to run in different places, like running campuses or towns that you have not been to actually really enjoy myself to. Right. We had earlier we had the bear Chris leak out. "Now, here's a little something that you missed from the Ben maller show. Let's hear from the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. Tyrod Taylor there when asked whether or not he was surprised that Josh Gordon was in the story. And what he said there was why would I be surprised? I know the game play clearly intimating, not even intimating just basically saying that Josh Gordon supposed to be inspiring limp. So you have the coaches the Browns saying one thing, but we have I don't know we have that we have that clip of of Hugh Jackson. Let's hear this year from huge actually get this is what Hugh Jackson has been saying. This is the company lining. I don't wanna keep elaborating on it. But the personnel, obviously as you guys seem Josh Whitman quite a few plays after the personnel that we were using call for him to be in the game could have switched out of. That's all just missed me. Occasion miscommunication. I so what do you think actually have? What do you think is going on? My thoughts on this. You have. And I to go deep on this. I'm going to go very deep one. You've got this. Obey. You have that. You also have Pinocchio and small potatoes. Not big Theodose but small, but there's and we'll tell now number one my theory on this is what happened was Todd Todd Haley, the offensive coordinator went robes few Jackson. Likely did direct. Josh Gordon, not to be in the starting lineup and Todd Haley. Well, I want to win the game. I used to work for the Steelers and Gordon's might top receiver. I need him out there. I gotta play this guy. So to get the rest of what Big Ben set podcast did by searching, the Ben maller show. And is always you can hear the Ben maller show. Weekdays at two AM eastern eleven PM Pacific right here on Fox Sports radio. This is the Dan Patrick show. Is it me or our NFL overreactions worse than ever this year? Because normally we look at week one games. And we mistakenly assume that that tell the season's going to play out. So Sam darnold had a pretty good debut after I pass. And we're now assuming the giants are gonna regret passing on him in the draft for the next fifteen years, Mitzi everywhere, we basically put Patrick Mahomes in the hall of fame after his performance against the chargers. The bills are going to go home and sixteen. Cowboys don't have any offense they're destined for an eight eight season. And we got a quarterback controversy in Tampa with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing for four hundred yards. I do love week one. Now, it's my favorite week of the NFL season because you're just waiting and you're going and the chargers are gonna be awesome. The saints are going to be awesome..

"With no shoulder pads. No helmets trying to get a job. That's true. He's making Jarvis four three. Yeah, that's not expertise. He's not a burner. He's not down the field threat. Do you know what you have? You need maybe need to use him in the role that you fell in. Love with him as yeah, he's played outside the number, but that's not what Jarvis skin. I mean, Todd need to calm down. You'll give heart attack, but that's too much I can take on that. Skip and all that. All that cursing you out to miss me with that. I thought about you all I was watching and I thought, who would you have given this man of your mind? Because this rub. Me the wrong way and I don't even play in. I felt for Jarvis Landry and I want to remind everyone. He was their biggest offseason acquisition and he took over the first episode of har- knocks with his profanity laced tirade. His rant to the receivers about you. Gotta play hurt, you, gotta practice, hurt. We got do away with this contagious losing culture. The rookies last night might might. It was it was real and raw, and I thought it resonated. And to me if felt like Jarvis Landry was becoming with tyrod beleaguer of the football team. He merely led the NFL and catches last year again, not in yards because he doesn't burn, but he can get open underneath in little option routes and he can catch the football. He can catch it like his buddy from LSU del. He can circus circus catcher in practice for the Browns. Well, Todd Haley can't undercut. Whatever credibility he is established as a leader of the team. My just openly screaming at him and accusing him of quitting on routes, not running routes. If you can't do that to to the new leader of your team, Todd, Todd, Haley, overreact every play. If I is this a hard knock syndrome where you know you're on camera and you know yours becoming a star on hard knocks. So you got over act a Berlin mouth at you, right? Quit. Let me one more time. Hey, you got it. Come on now. Yeah. And who is Todd Haley in the end? Because I'm gonna remind everybody. His father played in the league dick Haley, and his father became one of the great personnel directors in the history of the league because he was the director and draft master of the Pittsburgh Steelers from nineteen seventy one to nineteen ninety through those glory years through four Super Bowls. And that remember that seventy four draft class with four future pro football hall of Famer wind, John Dahl were Jack Lambert and wet might Webster the first four pink work in the hall of fame. That's a pretty great that might be draft. Okay. Team is father did that. And then Todd Haley wasn't a football player. He played golf in college in Florida and Miami, and then wound up at north Florida and graduated. But he wasn't a football player, but because of daddy, he got a chance and then he earns some stripes and he's been pretty good along the way, and he's made some. The draft Ranko Franko with seventy is another one, no drafted. I've told her that that cowboy Pittsburgh Super Bowl, thirteen. That was the biggest collection of talent I've ever seen on one football field in large part because of the Steelers side of the field. But the point is that's who Todd the he came from dick Haley. So really you that good or you that much better than Jarvis Landry sometimes they, they won't lay light here in their own voice. You know, that makes them feel good. But I mean, that's the overreaction to say that he quit on route when he clearly he'd quit on the route. And remember I brought it up the next day on the show. 'cause I thought Jarvis you can be tough on coaches, e clash with Adam gays, right in my sort of like in the end, they fell completely apart and Adam gays in run him in there anymore. But in this case you got him. He was. He was your key acquisition and he didn't stop on that route. So he was yelling back at Todd Haley from the field thought to..
