Can any long shots stun Tiz The Law at Ky. Derby?

"All right. Jody Delhi is going to give us the odds on the Kentucky Derby race. Of course we've heard about is the law. Everybody's liked his. The law is the law. Well, there are other horses in the race. Right, Jody? That's right. Says the law is 45. This is current odds right now. They just opened the windows this morning. Ah, 25 minutes ago. This is current odds. Tis a law fortified. And then there is a pretty good distance between him and the next horses. And the next course is there's actually a pretty good distance of who are a pretty good racer. Who's the second choice right now. It would be Santa Anita Derby winner Honor AP at 8 to 1 Authentic, though, is 9 to 1. That's Bob Baffert horse who won the Haskell Tendo one Bob Baffert horse 1000 words Who won the shared beliefs. So you've got those horses? Ahh, right there. All four vying for second choice in the Derby. Let's run from the inside, post position out. We'll give you all of the odds here. A CZ. We go through it finish the fierce. The number one horse, The one eyed gilding has been scratched. He is not running in the race number two Max player, Ricardo Santana Jr. The jockey, Steve asked. Musa is the trainer Max player. Is down. 18 Toe one. He was a morning line. 30 to 1. He's back. He's been bet. Pretty good. So far enforceable. Adam. The skits of the jockey Mark Cassie is the trainer 23 to 1 down a little bit from 30 to 1 in the morning line. Storm. The court who was the breeder's Cup juvenile champion last year, Julien Les Peru is the jockey Peter Kurten is the trainer 26 to 1, Major fed James Graham and Greg fully 34 to 1. They were 50 to 1 in the morning line. Number six. King Guillermo has been scratched. Money moves. This is the one that is interesting to me. Money moves from Todd Pletcher, making just his fourth career start. Was a 32 1 in the morning line and is getting bet. Heavy. Todd Pletcher's Horse Down 15 to 1 South Bend. I don't think all the Notre Dame Ah money has come in yet on South Been 34 to 1, Tyler Gaffney, Leone and Belmont trainer. Mr Big News. Gabriel Sias trainer Brett Calhoun 47 to 1 number 10,000 words as we said 10 to 1. Number 11 Necker Island, who, by the way will have his blinkers off, so he's been running with blinkers on in his last few races. He will not wear blinkers today 51 to 1 Miguel Mania and Chris Hartman is the trainer. Soul a Valon Day. Patrick being cone Lucas Panici is the jockey Volonte 29 to 1 attachment, Right, Dale? Romans 49 the one I thought that he would actually get a bet down. I'm a little surprised that that one winning surprise winning impression is no surprise. He is 52 to 1, the longest shot on the board. Dallas Stuart and Joe Rocco. In the irons, New York traffic 15 to 1, Paco Lopez and Saffy Joseph is Ah Ah, actually, I think he's gonna end up being like the third or fourth choice when it's all said and done. Probably a little bit of a buzz horse here out here among the horseman Honore P. 8 to 1 in the 16 post position with Mike Smith. John Sheriff's is the trainer. Tis the law 4 to 5, Manny Franco and Barclay Tagg. An authentic on the outside Bob Baffert 9 to 1 John Velazquez in the iron, So there's your Kentucky Derby odds for right now and again betting is open. And we've got a bunch of our hot We have 30 minutes to the first post 31 minutes right now to the first post long time before we get to the Kentucky Derby, So a lot of money will be bet on there, Terry.

"Well, we he is in the Car Allen is in the car. So yeah, we lost them right we'll get Case get it I I think he had one call in somebody called in, and now we lost them for three or four seconds but. That was the telltale. The Telltale Click we'll get allen former back I. mean this is very hard you know i. You know I I suppose I'm going to ask Alan about the owner responsibility in this as well. because. There there are owners who? You may be. In some cases Not going to say in some cases, I, the owners that you are. Certainly aware you know of. Of. Potential. East. I was vamping a little bit I was going to also ask you to in in addition of of course of action for the industry I also wanted to ask you what the the owner what you feel the owner. onus is to I mean for for owners that. You know in some cases they have to be. Aware of. You know of the the seriousness of the circumstances involved in in having somebody that that they're using be. You know be barred from a grounds at or upon by regulators. So, as far as future course of action, I'm going to come back to something that I've I've stood on your program before that. I very strongly advocate for. And that is a restoration of the thoroughbred racing protected bureau some investigative arm of the industry that we currently and have lack for some time You know as I said before when I started in the business from the first Fifteen or twenty years of my career I was able to work closely with the T. r. what was then tr P. because it was the industry's investigative arm. So these kinds of situations whether it's allegations paper training were fraud were or whatever or or You know the industries on top of these they have investigators who can exchange information who can get information can refer information who can communicate with each other A substantial weakness in our industry that we have and I know it's in part of the conversations with the Horse Integrity Act and expanding the acting otherwise quite. But we we desperately need to have something like that because what you have now. Is, tracks communicating with each other racing commissions communicating with each other but not necessarily. A full understanding of what's going on. So That would be my solution, but also understand that when you're. When you're dealing with suspended individuals and Use New York as the best example, they very carefully monitored to ensure that these individuals are not. Subverting their suspensions or penalty. because it's so they're going to be brought back in for more serious penalties were referred otherwise. So like in Florida where you're dealing with Navarro. not only should he be carefully watched but I'm sure that the federal government is carefully watching his activities. So I I know my experience has been regulators will look very closely. At every transaction, every transferable worse every individual who is training courses that was in the care of a suspended trainer. All of that. So you don't see the wool pulled over the eyes too often are Cabbie that with the fact that in Florida, there is no racing conditioned in that So I don't know who's necessarily. Minding the store there other than perhaps the burden is on country park to do it. You know we read the quote from Delhi Majett in the situation Gannon Florida. How often have have owners been excluded? From Entry Very rarely. That that is extremely extremely rare. I'm just trying to think back. To situations I guess the last time I remember that would be the Gill situation at noon where park. and all the controversy surrounding Gill. But you don't see too much with with owners you know that businesses. So substantially changed, you know there was a time when tr P. B. was looking at. Makers Associations with organized gambling. Commission, some crimes and those kinds of things that. Really, concentrate owners more than trainers, but you don't see much of that at least. From what I see. You don't see very much of that anymore owners think exclude. Well this This case these two cases. And and the. The. The reaction to them I just felt it important that that people understand. What the what the nuances between the racetrack authority and and then regulatory authority and reciprocity That's the. That that's the central part of this and I know there has to be in some cases as you reference I mean the do process part of it is going to enter into some of these equations. The sense remember that the Navarro Situation in Florida and the situation in Maryland apples and oranges. made the baby somewhat of a common theme but the virus under suspension everywhere right? He's under federal indictment. So the scrutiny transfers forces and who were partners in what happens to interest that he had ownership of and things like that are different and situation in Maryland where you're not dealing with someone who has any regulatory issues whatsoever this. Relates, to conduct apparently at the race track. Allen Form and joining US and Alan. Before let you go the there's always a couple of topics to wrap up with and get updates upon, and obviously you know it's a very unusual middle portion of the year and yet we continue to. You know I. I don't even say limp along at because things things have been remarkably. Good and effective really coast to coast There's been the the the occasional jocks room, a Cova De, flare up and and an issue but Some mid Atlantic. Mid Atlantic reference points and also the status of the redevelopment plan in Maryland. On the redevelopment plan is the Maryland Stadium. The thorny has active leap and run work. They had solicited bids were architectural design firms to do the design work the infrastructure work. And ultimately designed the facilities I wouldn't expect Fi. Probably the the fall maybe sometime in November, a firm will have been selected. They're moving forward and other areas. Remember project now is under the jurisdiction garland stating authority nervous on their bond group. For the issuance in bonds and the designed portion are.

Florida Maryland allen Alan Car Allen Maryland Stadium federal government fraud Delhi Majett Cova De New York Navarro US P. B. Gannon Navarro.

R. R. N. well as you hear from our colleague Bobby Newman one horse in this year's Belmont appears to check all the right boxes without a crystal ball there was no way anyone could have predicted that derby fever would be replaced by cold made nineteen this spring or that the run for the roses would be re scheduled for the fall is the law was the probable Kentucky Derby favorite as the calendar turned to twenty twenty and in the world seemingly turned upside down by the events of the past several months it was a long shot the powerful son of constitution might still be considered the horse to beat at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in September owner Jack Knowlton the principle of Saket toga stable thinks he may know why nothing favor I mean he is laid back and he's just great around the stable doesn't get excited but just his demeanor I think is very important transaction when he has a burst and we've seen it there are some of those races where he's in the middle of race and all of a sudden he's just past everybody and I haven't seen too many programs that have that and we really don't know where his bottom is because if you look at the races and he's won our farm is one of them but at least for right now Jack has been granted to go to the state to get him to do it he just does his Amazon we're very excited and now going into the Triple Crown season we certainly would have preferred to have been at Churchill first Saturday in may I think that sparkly Hatem's absolutely perfectly positioned for that but now will go the other route and hopefully you know follow up the Belmont with travelers and then then the derby and Preakness trainer certainly had his law ready to roll for the first Saturday in may but has had to adjust his charges schedule repeatedly I'd like to make a set up myself and had the ball goes to it but it's not gonna work that way I'm sure they're going to be more mature horses Kentucky Derby they find that there are any other time and distortion George early and I try to be a really good shot the Kentucky Derby you never know now a lot of lot of things right now yeah we will Jack in Barkley won the Kentucky Derby in two thousand three together with another New York bred funny cide but neither of.

Dr Post's Rider on Unbridled Win at Gulfstream

"He is yet another late developer who may benefit quite a bit from a delayed and revamped triple Crown Dr Poster respond to urging size all over him with the tax rate top of the lane on the outside attack. But right from between Dr Post Doctor Post now up for the lead attack rated second let there be no doubt doubters best. It's Dr Post Uneven. Money winner that win. At Gulfstream in the ungraded unbridled stakes was the first time Dr Post had run a mile or longer. He'd run into sprints before that winning one this year and finishing fourth in his debut at Belmont Park last July and while his sire quality road one multiple graded stakes at a mile and an eighth doctor posts never wanted longer than seven eighths of a mile. So I'm pretty sure that when trainer Todd pletcher and owner Vincent Viola learned that the Belmont stakes would be shortened from a mile and a half to a mile and an eighth. They were probably not to dismayed. Dr Posts next start might come in the Belmont and Soda Talk About Him to talk about the return of racing in New York and other related topics we welcome in the gate. The man who has the best seat in the House to watch Dr Post his rider the two time defending clips award winning writer Iran Ortiz Junior. Tell us about all that. He overcame in winning that race at Gulfstream. Well he John Hord. I is learning by racist Green Green. Like I'd have to stay on him and but he everything's good in the behin. He wasn't bitching horses. I gotTA using monitor be to keep their then. Golly talk was the intimidate. Then we get through then. What getting now because he was seeing the horse. And what's more comfortable for me to start going because I can ride then. Finally when he gets. Put THE HEAD IN FRONT. You just take off like he got some work. Your go no yet can be a nice sort down the road will. You've said that when he grows up a little mentally it'll help him now. What shows you that. He's not yet mature in his mind. Not You know not Betty Serious on the do can feel it when do right. We'll fill their own horses. Datum care they. They know what they're doing he's Joan hordes talent but he don't know yet what he's doing you know he's looking. He spoke from the hotel sometimes. he running away from from the horse when he go by. When went to go by you look him? He's like drifting earlier so that mainly feel he's agreement. Nothing happen you just follow. Whatever I went through you know you raised it said Anita on Memorial Day you've run at Gulfstream and Churchill and will soon be returning to New York. How difficult is it to go through the testing process at each track to be cleared to come in and race? It better for you know like that's thing. I just really like three or four times. It's not too bad for me and I'm happy because like that. I'm okay to see my family. You know after I check from other also. I'm Don T my baby so I'm glad they do. They do hopefully they keep doing it their way to how challenging has it been to learn the different procedures that each track is taking to make sure that you follow all those safety and health rules. I think it's better for heavy lady like that but I don't know why they don't do that but I wish they do everywhere. Now you flew back from California. Do you fly back commercial or do you fly back on charter flight? Commercial back how did you feel about that after having been away for a month because of the virus and everything yeah right now? Post Time: Fountain of Youth is leap day for Derby hopefuls

"Happy Fountain of Youth Day. Thank you thank you starting early today for so eleven. Thirty fourteen racist today so should be a good one. I don't know if people think chancellor card yet but I mean it's just stacked start to finish so we're we're gearing up for a day. How's the weather down there today? Good conditions it's great It was very breezy and on the chilly side yesterday. Obviously not Florida are rolling their eyes at US saying that it's cool but it feels different when it gets colder down in Florida will definitely say that. But it's gorgeous. Today it's going to be low. Seventies son is out a little bit less windy than yesterday as well. Let's start with the Fountain of Youth. That will be the final of the fourteen races on this Saturday program. Twelve horses are entered. There was some conversation about chance it potentially coming out because of the outside post position As of just a little bit ago I think he is still in so some decisions yet to be made but twelve horses set to go. How did you see this one? Yeah he is still and he does have until forty five minutes before the race as is the protocol for Great. It's so he's got some time There was one scratch just of the number two horse in there but This is a tough race chance. It's been really impressive. And Ultra talented and and obviously Fun Horse to watch down here but I did go with the Horse. That actually finished second to him in the Home Watch. Oh man and that is as you know on. Tv For Kelly Brian. I just thought that this course who I had not actually seen him physically before leading into that last race and he really showed me. Both in the flesh needs performance that he was the type that could handle the stroud and distance effectively. I think he's drawn well and he's going to be really tough. Obviously done this moment. It's going to take a lot of attention. Chance it as well and those are some good horses but I'm GonNa land on as seen on TV seen on. Tv Ninety two on the morning line has been extremely consistent. You mentioned the forest arts. Two wins two seconds and that runner up in the mutual macho man last time to to under pokka. Lopez here this afternoon. I'd like to spend more time talking with you about some of the other contenders but in the interest of time here this morning. Let's move on to the race. For the three year old girls we don't want to neglect the phillies The Dow is race number ten one mile on the main track. It will go right around that four o'clock eastern time. Yeah this is an exciting race. You've got tunnel shape city outside Saffy. Joseph's junior has obviously really burst onto the scene this year with the likes of math wizard and then of course potential Derby contender and Chan said and he's also got affiliate that Again is undefeated and turned out to be the first graded stakes winner for Tony. Lists and sire and she even though she's been so impressive it does kind of feel like even in this race that she still has a little something to prove. It'll be interesting I think that the race really revolves around the todd. Pletcher Philly in spices nice. I mean she was just a monster in her debut and I spoke to todd yesterday and he said that she was the phillies but they obviously really had high hopes for given the purchase price and her breathing out of the Dorsey and she not only showed up in her debut. But I watch pretty much all of her recent workouts at Palm Beach downs and I spoke to todd about this too and that she's been training for the most part with some of the really highly touted colts and his part including the point. Who was really well tipped out market analysis. Just some very talented horses. That have won first time out. And she's been training with the colts. A Lotta Sense. Kinda dwarfs inside too. She's a very very big Philly but she has a nice way of moving and they taught it said that was a way of them kind of testing. Just how good is she? And she's really responded to retest. Yeah that I start. She dominated her maiden race on January twelve. She won by twelve ran away from the field. That probably could have been more if they wanted it to be. That was at the same one mile distances. Today's Dimona del Was there a obviously? She was the favourite that day ACACIA but was a palpable buzz around spices. Nice when she walked into the paddock that day there was and you know she would not necessarily be the type of horse that I would pick out in a lineup Just face off of you know looks for a Horse. That would win first. Came out like I said. She's very big she by curl and She has kind of a long stride along next to her and I thought that she was going to win. But I was almost wondering puts. You need a race which you need to turn. And she's just so talented that she was almost kind of able to overcome. Maybe not looking like the precocious sharp I out type of winter so I thought that was really interesting as well. And and obviously this is going to be a tougher spot going right into graded stakes company but think that she is really one of the box. Office potential superstars on the undercard today. And I'm excited to see her. I also use underneath though in Second. I use five reluctant bride. Who I think is good and I like her switching to stay. She's got dirt pedigree and I spoke to Patrick the cone the other day and he said he tries a lot of his horses that he thinks are good. On the turf I F. A. Indian and sold allante being perfect examples and He says he thinks it's an easier trip. And then you switch them to dirt and that just might be where they're most comfortable and that's what he's doing with this one today who just closed so impressively in her first race. And I think that she's got some ability to talking with ACACIA. Courtney from Gulfstream Park here on the Horse Racing Radio Network Again Fountain of Youth Day Fourteen races. We have time to look at one more case you have about a minute or so. Just over that for we have to get to the next segment The Gulfstream Park Mile is race number. Twelve another big field. Eleven horses entered one mile on the main track. And this is a very interesting race gear. Mclaughlin had to including Hi Collin true. Kimber I really like hike. Second also layoff. I think he's GonNa be a big improvement for him today. And I think that it's kind of always flies under the radar is how Creek Hustle. He's actually my top picks some paddock school the other day for Vicki Foley. I think he's actually going seven furlongs. One Turn My. Oh which is what he gets today. just a side note. It's the treat to see Pegasus World Cup runner up MR freeze back. And he'll turn back and distance as well for for Dale Romans who could potentially have a big day. Yeah it could be a huge day for Dale and ACACIA. Has a very busy day ahead of her. So we'll let her go. Acacias squeezed me in this morning. I appreciate you taking a few minutes. Go enjoy the rest of the day and we'll talk soon. Thanks for being here all right. Thanks guys take care. She's the best Acacia Courtney. The little a here on the horse racing radio network do miss having her with us on the network but she's doing good things down there Gulfstream and on some of the other national. Tv

It's appropriate to really embrace holy or dismissable chemical weird to me Amesbury too good arrays for one hundred fifty listed but. I don't know that it was like southwest. Good after I saw at either so somewhere in the middle of purgatory and and the good thing about not interested January twenty four probably do more on. Let's turn our attention. He is a real up and coming superstar in this game. Very talented writer. And I'll tell you what we're really became. A fan of tyler was because the bar. CASSIE and you know the respect by half remark. The fact that mark was writing Tyler on so many of us horses like Laura will etcetera and that to me was a real sign that this is a young writer that has kind of ability and it certainly becase and we still a big win there and Bob Baffert he's very recalls now. Only a couple away from three thousand career thoroughbred wins. Probably get that this week and the best I can determine in terms of the research done in terms of quarterhorse victories. For thirty he was just under a thousand and quarter or secretaries. In like the nine nine hundred seventies unquoted horse victory so even though backwards when it reached three thousand thoroughbred land. You know that he's actually got a heck of a lot. I got todd pletcher coming at Forty forty five so we got about fifteen minutes. Cover everything that went on. And what's upcoming first of all your thoughts about opening day at Oakland and the Smarty Jones isn't the rate for three of those horses renting my top fifteen.

"The city's have seen it's a question of how far they wanna go oh usually a miles about as far as they want to run but you know we'll see an absolutely and of course a lot of people a lot of people including my what my top ahead he capping Fred's and regular on the show. Nick Nick wants him to become a stallion somewhere down the road so that there can be a million million billy batts joke shine box everybody's all excited Yeah everyone loves his name well they liked the they like the the fifty five to one and then talk about the talk about the and the main track juvenile because wrecking crew and of course when it came to storm the court you you know those that were watching the west coast scene at del Mar and then into the fall you knew that there was some talent here but there was such dialogue about Max appealed at about Denis's moment it seemed to overshadow you and Peter Yeah you know and I think rightfully so I you know going going into the race Dennis's moment looks like the Horse to beat you know eight rings was impressive in the the prep so you know Oh but but I I felt like our horse was was coming up to a good race you know we we had backed off in for some altars stomach ulcers and it had it fixed those and he was trying to very well but and honestly I think we're the better trippy wins you know he checked into the first turn took all the Dirk Eric down on the inside couldn't get through on the second turn and you know he was he had the swing out and lost all momentum coming into the lane so I think it was you know race that we we could have won with a better trip but you know you know hats off to Peter he's a good friend of mine and I'm very happy for him what kind of what kind of next steps for for wrecking crew you look you looking at LaSalle yeah I think we're going to definitely look at the low sal will raise the cash call futurity and you know I think with this race under his belt he I think he's just going to get get better with experience he finally he finally left left the gate with the rest of the horses and you know settled nicely and again you know I can't say enough pock oh he's just a great writer and horses really run for him and just just lucky that he was on those two long shots and yeah they ran so well let me ask you about spice perfection to who looked like she was in in good position and then just sort of ran evenly the rest of the way in the in the you know yeah there's a back story to that you know when she wanted Keeneland in the PCA hey everyone saw how badly she stumbled but what they didn't see as she she she she ripped a a a big a big chunk out of her foot and and you know just showed her class in her heart to win that race in spite of it but it really put us behind the eight ball we missed we missed a couple WHOA works with her for certainly one work maybe two and so you know I I we were we were we were short you know we were short aren't we thought maybe it wouldn't matter but against those kind of horses you gotta be at your best and and she wasn't quite there but I very proud of her and you know the team for I mean we worked tirelessly to get that foot healed and found and able to train her you know the last week so she she's a heck of a billion she's also and in the sale on Wednesday so you know I I may never get to get to raise her again again but she was very good filly for us now she of course a cow bread and multiple graded stakes winner graded grade grade one winner of course when she won the Madison she'll be very attractive whether somebody wants to campaign on with her or whether she whether she she added that somebody's Broodmare band and she really showed her class just by holding her ground and route one hundred percent and Jan and by the way you know she's two two keeneland in a you know where's the Breeders Cup next year good point uh-huh good point you may maybe maybe maybe another client you might want to yeah I might might make some phone calls here well I include a couple of just two quick topics to Peter I and I said Oh boy I said to somebody I knew I'd get upset talking about it today and Berry Abrahams winning with Mo four zero what you did with him wonderful moment as a I've seen at the racetrack in a while thank you it was incredible you know everyone loves Berry and I've I've I've done I've known Barry Thirty years and you know when he sent me this horse I didn't know what to think and you know he he said he's a good horse and he was a maiden and it never started and I thought wow you know I heard that a hundred times and you know he was right and and just has to to win this race for Berry and you know on Breeders Cup Day and a great to with Rosario Oh who's very helped coming down from Golden Gate just you know that I can't say enough about the win and really just really warm warm my heart and warm berries the the outpouring everybody waiting for Leo a Big Leo Got Hustled Berry in from the from the contest room and it made it really lead into do you know the day perfectly very showed me he said you know look at this look at this and that he pulled out the phone and he scrolled back to Ron Anderson when six months ago what he said I got a horse perfect for Joel and Berry right any eddie put ron kind of held them off and and and then all of a sudden all kind of fell together that Joel ended up on them on Saturday Saturday yeah no I didn't know we had Joel Till Entry Day to be honest with you I knew there were no shortage jockeys they're so I wasn't too concerned but I really want to go on the Horse thought he bit the horse and you know an and you know Ron also longtime friend Barry Abram so it it was you know four old buddies getting back together and It was cool Hollywood Derby for him Yes yes absolutely looks great come you know run a top ninety six Byron in very good Colt and he's just just getting just kind figuring things out so you know I'm I'm excited about the Hollywood Derby and you know hopefully Joel comes back out and ride them again I would imagine Agean and the got close Peter also with the success out of town major Cabbie at Keeneland you had the wind also also at Churchill over the weekend and you like several others including Mark Glatt I'm looking at down on the Palazzo keeping your options open and and the the maintaining of string elsewhere in the you WanNa talk about this at all yeah absolutely you know we we we sent string about six months ago to Kentucky with all the stuff that was going on in California we had to keep our options open and certainly glad ad we did my assistant felipe a Souza's doing a phenomenal job we were four for eight keeneland with a second and we're now three for four Churchill Jill so I I just can't say enough about my team over there he's who's really you know just doing a Yeoman's job and and just doing a fantastic job and again you know I'm a Californian I'm born and raised here I don't WanNa leave here but you know sometimes it you have no Troisi and you know we felt like we needed to keep all of our options open and luckily my owners agreed and it's been very successful so far well I there's obviously going to be some some some decisions to be made in discussions seemingly already started on Saturday night and into yesterday regarding what lies ahead for this for this track for this main track and we'll see where that story goes but in the meantime Peter Five Breeders Cup wins in the last three years and You had plenty of success in it before these winds started a pile up when Rene got zip she hit the board a couple of times times as well in this race with the Turf Sprint and I just delighted for everybody involved here Gary Barber and you mentioned cartoony INS and and their teams and families and Well legged congratulations thank you thank you Steve I really appreciate shaded and and I just WanNa say thank you to you for all you do for the sport and You know I I think the sports do in a really good good job I don't think we get the credit that we deserve you know the veterinarian the trainers the track you know we're we're we're we're doing our best it's never going to be perfect and I think you know we we can scribe the goal should always be zero but I I really don't think that's a realistic goal and I think we're doing a great job and and look nothing's perfect in life you know thousands of dogs get run over out on the streets you don't hear people calling for the abolishment of dog or people not be able to own dogs you know you know you know sport is dangerous and and all you can do is try and minimize the risk and I think we've done that and I think I think we need to you know pat ourselves a little bit on the back of for doing a heck of a job and it's still a great sport we love our horses more and more than anything and you know we'll we'll get through this well I appreciate it Peter Miller everybody and another exact in the turf sprint and plenty of other things to celebrate right and clearly an emergent three year old late season the twilight derby-winner Mo four zero and the main track Colton Turf Colt Holt the two year old front.

"Eh one hour on all these insane seen joggers it we're back at the races back at Santa Anita Peter Miller is back at Saint Louis rate down and of course one of the story lines coming out of Saturday was Belvoir Bay and when we think back to the fire and Belvoir Belvoir Bay wandering the brush injured and cut up and singed and and then coming back two years later to win the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint it's uplifting and Peter courses addressed the so many times what transpired at Saint Louis Ray Peter you're you also have to address winning the turf sprint three years in a row another show with running another big turf sprint whether it's down the hill or five furlongs doesn't seem to matter congratulations thank you Steve Steve I I appreciate it very much thank you so much this this is a fun story with Belvoir because of course beating the boys Gary Barber's arbres involvement here he had so many chances and and belvoir seemed like one of the longer shots that That Gary Barbara I was GonNa have and of course got stormy ran a terrific race in the mile and came close but talk a little bit about bringing Belvoir Bay back to health and then not just her all the horses that you so carefully point for this weekend and for the most part they all put in the kind of efforts you were looking for yeah yeah you know who's very rewarding you know we work hard and and you know between the the fire and the just all the stuff that goes along with you know training horses it was very rewarding to have them all show up and just can't say enough about my team and and everybody we got the we got the best team on the West Coast and you know I'm just you know very blessed very blessed to have them uh-huh and and to have the owners and you know let's all I can say just feel very thankful in terms herbs of terrorists of pointing her for this when did when did you get the feeling that she was going to be in the form that would make her competitive even in in a in a spotlight this at the end of the year you know I she had a little you know we knew we knew she could be competitive Adib and win this kind of race I mean she ran second to blue point and Dubai and blue point would have been even money on Saturday so and he had he had trouble running down going three quarters so we knew going five she could run with anybody in the world and um it was just a matter of getting right you know she had little minor minor issue after the Jaipur that we had to just back off per for a couple months but it was always our plan to back off or get ready for the Breeders Cup and you know once in a while plans plans come through so when she drew outside how much of a concern was that and you know knowing that there was going to be others down inside including pure sensation sation who did not get away well but how much of an obstacle was in your mind going in was the drug and a b what did you what what did you discuss with here yeah going in you know I said the couple of people you know that you know going in you you say Jeez this wasn't wasn't the best draw but I said we could be saying something else Sunday morning so you know you just don't know in this in this business you know it I didn't liked the draw of course didn't want to have to run the extra distance but we knew she didn't need the lead we thought we could win it you know from third forth but when when she when she broke well and the other speed didn't you know hobby are just took it to them and the plan plan all along was just a voter in the race try and clear the outside horses and in and get over and in some ground and he he did well and you could tell I mean through the turn it was one of those circumstances where just nobody was going to get that there's nobody was going to get to her she just she was just moving to well yeah he was full of run all the way and and I just can't say enough about her and you know Hobby Air Havi are just you know gave a super ride and that's why he's a hall of fame rider and you know to win for Gary Barber who's it's been a long time client of mine almost fifteen years and you know like family just just you know the gamut of emotions you win the race three years in a row with all we've gone through this year out West you know I was kind of overcome overcome overcome with emotion fold in you mentioned Manny Franko mentioned have your Castellano I want to fold in Manny Franko who got his first Breeders Cup win on Friday and and manny very quietly had a terrific obviously terrific Breeders Cup he gets a board comb the seven year old almost the low horse for those that out of these monies and he's oars yeah this this who is really a nice performance and you did something very similar with him you basically gave him the middle and late summer off and just primed him for this spot well we did it with a stormy liberal three years ago at del Mar and worked well well that day and so you you know home and Belmore Bay both had you know a good campaigns and we want him fresh and ready for this race and can't say enough about Manny's ride in in about home and just you know thrilled for kb Serene just a great owner and great great family and You you know home ran ran eyeballs out and got his head down right on the wire for second and you know and stormy liberal you know he was right there airtel the middle of the strategies you know maybe lost a step or two but he's still he's still try to bite off and you know I'm just couldn't be prouder the horses is in in in in our team and you know just just just thankful and grateful what are the plans for for the three of them looking Gonna add wealth fell more bay is in the sale tomorrow and at the night of the stars Vazza tipped it didn't and it's bittersweet too because I knew that was the last time I'd probably ever get a runner and so I said goodbye to her Saturday night and she was in Kentucky yesterday and you know for reserves met she'll be she'll be sold and and if not you know Mister Barbara will probably family runner another year as far as home as you said he is a stallion so we do have that that looking us in the eye but at the same time you know he's he's he's back in lifetime form and you know I'd like to I'd like to run them this year next last year and perhaps look at race like the all clause and Dubai and you know and I and even think about stretching him back out to mile as well so stormy liberal you know I've got to discuss with Mr Hart the owner owner of what he wants to do you know I you know the horses the horses one hundred percent sound and healthy so that's that's not an issue it's just a matter of you know do we want to retire him the two time champion that he is or or you know given uh-huh you know give them another shot or two you know I'm Gonna I'M GONNA confer with Mr Tune in this week and kind of see what what he wants to do we've got Peter Miller with us who got another in a turf sprint this one paid one hundred and thirty three seventy very strangely all three horses were fifteen to one I don't know if you noticed that I didn't I didn't I was I was a little too busy to it's a play on Saturday but but but I did tell everyone that wanted a to everyone that asked me I I did think all three of them were very live and that they were all being overlooked and you know but so some of my friends were very happy with me after after the race I want we're GonNa talk about in a minute but let's stick with Breeders Cup for a second and talk about the two long shots on Friday that both ran eyeballs out and billy batts for starters you had to be just thrilled because that was a that was a serious group talk about about Billy Batts even getting into the coff- you had him cross entered and then he all he does his his run a tremendous race second only to Chad branch struck north yeah no we were we were a little worried that he wouldn't he was on the a initially and You know I think the Breeders Cup has to rethink I think the way they choose these horses you know this panel situation isn't isn't really the best you know we had affiliate bulletproof roof one who should have been in the juvenile turf sprint and got excluded and I think she could easily hit the board in there so I think there are problems with the selection but that being said Billy Bat ran his eyeballs out got a super ride by pocked Lopez thought we were going to win it for a minute and you know just got run down late by Chad Brown and I couldn't be happier for for the the horse and and and and for Mr tune-in he's a city zip he's actually originally and what are what are your thoughts it it out of a giant's causeway mare and maybe play to try a little dirt with him or is he struggling you know you know he he he he trained very well on the dirt you know that doesn't always translate to running well on it but he does train very well on the dirt and for for the immediate future we're looking at I think there's a race at the end of del Mar perhaps absolute will go there the C. Soul be dee be the mill I believe monograph formerly the generous stakes at Hollywood park arch but anyhow so we'll we'll we'll look at that perhaps the cashcall futurity at Los Alamos does but I I'm sure you'll see him on the jerk in the near future very nice horse tries very hard and you know.

"And spice down and palace malice You must notice the names when you're looking at the program for sure I mean that's that's one of the things we're proudest of is that you know so many of our stallions have been able to go on and have have great careers and you know I'm more than ready phenomenon to still be doing it at his age and when you know to have freshman sires like palace malice with the Breeders Cup winner and constitution with another big winner over the weekend it's just you know we get a lot of enjoyment out of that Ah take a lot of pride in the fact that you know horses perform well on the racetrack and go on and have productive stallion careers as well so that's a that's a lot of fun for us well and even even yesterday and on the undercard it should be noted that yesterday easy winner of the Gold Cova the daughter daughter of scat daddy and I referenced everybody we're GonNa talk to Peter Miller in a minute but even before the whole cup started in that twilight Derby on Saturday Saturday when Mo four zero one the uncle Mo that one the twilight nervy four very abrahams and that scene of very everybody nobody waiting for Berry to make it to the winner's circle whose Barry's been sick with the throat cancer for ages and and there was not a dry eye in the house but there's a son of of uncle Mo I noticing to flagstaff or Sadler spikes the town and and then of course yesterday in the national we haven't even gotten to that yet but independence hall's performance the Constitution Son in the national was so you're you cast the tall shadow because you're you're talk but it it I your shadow was all over this this weekend yeah that was that was made the whole weekend pretty special let me ask you to Sweeten Alanya Nice performance settles for third in the juvenile fell each are yeah I thought I thought you ran terrific you know whatever it concerns was the wheel back in twenty sweet three days after he drinks at Keeneland but she showed up I thought she ran a race had us a little bit from the Twelfth Post position the first turn turn lost a little bit of ground but I thought she ran ran great kick when they turned for home and just a couple of really high quality foods that were able to get buyer but third and you know great one like that coming off the great to it was it was a good performance and hopefully you know she'll come back and be even better three-year-old have about the quick thoughts on cold front and Channel Cat you know actually actually thought she'd healthcare ran ran kind of a sneaky good racy you got much further back than we anticipated and it was a pretty pretty I wouldn't call it a messy race there is plenty going on in the early stages and he kind of got shuffled back and you know but I thought he closed resolutely and was still making making up some ground at the end so you know a tall order for him but I think he did what he always does and showed up and gave us a effort and to me he's like a lot of the English channels he's only GonNa get better as he gets older so they can next year could be corporately bast and cold front you know didn't didn't quite work out the way we'd hope but he's been a great horse for us and some great win she's absolutely gorgeous worse so looking forward to him going to spendthrift I think when when breeders go to see him look at him on the shake they're gonna you know like what they see and of course with a lot of heart a lot a lot of talent good lookin' even the you know I think it'll be interesting to see how he's received by the breeders because when they when they look at them they're gonna like it well and also so I don't WanNa let it slip through the cracks that California Chrome sibling down in Florida at Gulfstream West Fort McHenry breaks the maiden yeah he was it's funny we're kind of comparing his early career a little bit too to tap risk you know disappointed disappointed as first time out in run very well Saratoga so did the same thing we did with tapper we took him down down south and stretch them out he's actually a little unlucky not to win win his first race at Gulfstream Park West but he came back and after stumbling pretty pretty significantly at the start was able to recover and you know and when well so so a lot of pedigree there and you know she seems like he's one that's sort of starting to figure that out now so hopefully keeps moving forward solid fig two eighty three buyer came back for Fort McHenry Todd one one note back back here as I watched some horses work I'll be here to more mornings before heading back and some comments yesterday from Shug who was very unhappy happy with how deep the track was and you know the way things were set up and obviously you know a lot of the a lot of the Whole Cup Cup aftermath is is being impacted by the Mongolian groom and the sadness and the difficulty associated there you know obviously actually you had a a somewhat of an edge because you came with the war's early and previously but just some thoughts about how you know how this this cop should be viewed and and you know what the you know we always want the you know the happy stories the you know to be the ones the focus on but it's impossible not to address the circumstances around Mongolian groom as well I mean it's you know look we can't I can't pretend like it didn't happen we gotta we gotta continue to address it and to me you know the industry's looking at everything at the racetrack I think you know needs to start back doc from day one and these horses are born everything has to be done appropriately from from the very beginning that includes you know the breeders the you know the consignors the two year old consigners and you know certainly trainers veterinarians we we all can do a better job we all need to do a better job and you you know the the it it should be a target zero fatality rate which we all know in the Horse Industry that's not realistic but that needs to be the goal and it needs to start from day one you know as far as the surface itself at Santa Anita I think on Friday it will perhaps a little too deep I thought on Saturday it was better you know there there's certainly environment like we ran I think they were trying to be a little bit cautious in err on the side right have having it a little bit slower than than too hard and too fast but you know it's it's a shame but you know and and it does put a little bit of a damper on on it even even for us you know winning the classic it takes away a little something that you know we we should be focusing our special was for everyone but I think you you know even as winners of the Breeders Cup classic I mean you know everyone was just hoping to get through the through the weekend with with with no issues and you we got close but close to it and get up we gotta do better Well well said Todd appreciate this and of course your in Lexington for the bloodstock sales tomorrow and Wednesday and best of luck continued success and can't tell you how happy I am for you your team the re- police the violas I read the really A crowning a crowning achievement Malvo's leave the stage like this really was thanks so much means a lot to us todd pletcher and his terrific team that Get this win and todd did I mentioned some of those other horses keen ice was third and sixteen flower alley second in Oh five and what else those are the two those were the two board heads but really look stay thirsty probably was a disappointment mm-hmm and he he he was he was up the track and uncle uncle Mo had such a had headed that difficult they really wasn't to be in in twenty eleven but that one's in the books Vino Rosso we'll take a break Peter Miller is GonNa join us next and of course Peter trained to the very Abrahams winner that twilight Derby that was I wrote at the time I sent out a tweet and so forth and I said there may not be a more emotional moment in the winner's circle the rest rest of the day there were several equal absolutely they were all equal but for the people around here and not just here either because Barry Abrams has has friends and admirers all over the sport another source I it's it's unbelievable we'll take a break. Peter Miller joins US next theater with it's horrific breeders cup again another exact in the turf sprint couple of huge prices hit the board as well he does an amazing job pointing sources for Breeders Cup weekend and we'll we'll talk about it next Jay Ribbon and a little bit Graham Motion Peter Much much more keep the storm a walking by two it back after this.

"Happy hour our again and we'll start the Breeders Cup recapping with Todd Pletcher who got an elusive Breeders Cup classic to add his hall of fame resume top clients micro Polian Vinnie Viola and and Vino Rosso Authentic Mile and a quarter horse bred by John Gunther and and even though it's only John's name we'll give credit to and we give verse most of the credit to todd pletcher who just absolutely engineered this season for you know raw so beautifully tie congratulations thanks dude thank you it fair to say that that this is really this is really a mile and a quarter horse you know there aren't that many that are these days days that are just at their best in ten for a loss I think you're exactly right and you know we felt that was the case and what gave us added confidence is that when we shift the Santa Anita Gold Cup in May he was so we had a win over the track a mile and a quarter we sort of had a blueprint Anton when we were going to ship in knew that he could successfully do that gave us added confidence but to me I can't remember having a horse it's just coming into a big race like that that was that was doing as well as yours and you could literally just see him thriving and his works after the Jockey Club or even better than going into it and so you know told Mike in Vinnie usually you know when you come out of the race the Jockey Club you wishing you had a little more time to the to the big event event literally a week after the man I wish with the classic I heard I heard you say say that a couple of times and and historically that sometimes that's been alarm an alarm bell for me when somebody says you know two two weeks of the race and I wish it was Saturday it's like boy I hope I I hope it's not a signal he he he he just you know you could see doing terrific and you know every everything just went according to plan every every step of the way and it's just including including the trip that I read was able to work out you know it was pretty much just the way that that we'd all hoped it would discuss you know prior to the race as the you know here's here's plan a and let's hope it because this way and you know it really did so it's fun too fun to watch and fun to be a part of and really really excited for you know the police and Viola the whole team when they went into the first turn of course yes you you're leaving from the town hall and when they went into the first turn I thought he's a little wide with no no issue on that front for you watching now now I mean the the the one thing that we felt like was that was most important as we are concerned if we were first second third fourth in the early part we wanted to make sure we got away from the gate cleanly got into you know good position but most importantly let him get into his his rhythm and stride and and we didn't mind sacrificing a little bit of ground to do that so horse it doesn't mind having a you know a clean face kind of trip and so you know it was a tick rider lighter than ideally like but but most importantly he was he was travelling really well into it into his rhythm and so I felt really really good when he came by the stands it's the first time and there's a moment on the backside where I thought that he kinda just came off the bridle little bit so I I wasn't one hundred percent sure until he got to the far turn and then when when I read sorta started to pick him up and you could see you as closing in on the leaders now it's Kinda serving horses behind him I didn't see anybody making you know what seemed like a menacing move pretty pumped up without going when he it's funny because the Seltzer you know the the powder blue and the orange are are easy to spot and and of course McKenzie and the yellow and red and so when when I saw him emerge from behind horses off the turn you could see that he had a full full had esteem and Mackenzie had been a little closer to the pace obviously and you know they kind of came together but it was obvious pretty quickly that Vena was just GonNa cruise on pass than the basically kanter home and not not too many better feelings at that point in the the game it's you know it's it's rare that you you get to the goal and and cannot feel like you've got it wrapped up at points and you know when he got to Mackenzie McKenzie's good horse game where she put up a put up a fight but you know we thought that that extra aid was going to make the difference in once he was able to sort of move past outcome and it was just going to soak it all in the last part who was a lot of fun to watch it was it was also oh to see Viola and re Poli together and your all your staff and and everybody that gets a moment like this and I thought about the classic earlier this morning and a lot of people talking about you know this being your first classic and a lot of ways there's paralells todd it seems to to getting a classic on the resume and the work worked toward the to Derby wins because a lot of the horses that you brought to classics before we're really middle distance horses and much like the Derby that it it until you had ten ten for a long time to get there I mean when you think about Harlan's holiday and lawyer Ron Dunkel Mo- at the time and then he gives Saturday I mean these were these were mile and an eighth mile and a sixteenth types I mean you've had a couple I suppose I I guess I palace malice and and and flower alley I I would think we're probably two of the best shots and I heard you mention that you felt that this was the kind of course that was bringing you the best chance that you'd had in recent memory we we really you know the whole team out super confidence and that he was sitting on the best race of his career just you know I told my convinced that the way he trained after the Jockey Club he's taken his game to to the next level you know is that three year old he'd always you'd always trained like a good horse but he was still a little bit inconsistent he wasn't Put put forward to what I would what I would describe as like wow breezes you know he always workmanlike and getting the job done and you know certainly running competitively at some of those some of those big races but when he came back as a four year old he was used at the beginning of the year he was clearly a better four year old than it was a three year old and he was training more consistently in better but like at the end of the summer at Saratoga and the Jockey Club and then especially after the Jockey Club has his game was just at a whole new level and I mean he he went from being a solid workhorse to a wow oh wow we're course in a couple couple of works I mean sometimes you can't see the whole work based on you know maybe only five to one but it was the way he did it the ease with which he did it the strength of the gala pounds just you just you could see as he was he was playing the game I'm at a new level and it was it was one of those things that everything was just point in the in the direction that he was he was sitting on a lifetime best and when everything went smoothly shipping into Californian and the waves scalping over the track meaning you know he was he was sort of the buzzwords out there just based on his appearance waves train it was great to see all that go the way we'd hoped one thing that was really notable I had not seen him since actually I couldn't come to the Whitney because I was laid up with the I so I had not seen him probably since wow now I I I I hadn't even really thought about it but when he came out and you know I'm up here in the morning when I saw him on track I it just I it kind of made me think of what everybody has said about uncle Mo in retirement as a stallion about how he had changed changed physically and and it turned into this kind of a linebacker looking horse and I I was struck watching Vino come off one morning todd must have been Thursday Wednesday Thursday and he just looked like an absolute bruiser compared to when I when I mentally pictured them last yeah I mean you could see in the in his coat and you know just had a tremendous sheen to it and he he gained weight it strengthened through the campaign and all all the all the indicate indicators that you're looking for the maturing four year old you know just more focused in his training breezing better eating like a champ and just filling out and getting stronger written at more focused and just you know every everything that you hope for would we were seeing so Yeah I mean it was like you said said I think it was a very authoritative win and you know I actually think he won with a little something left in the tank you know 'cause the one thing I told one of the things I told tyrod was just if you get to the careful because you know he'll prick his ears and wait a little bit so you know to draw away by what was it for four and a half winks was awesome now this this kind of a win to have a horse in his last career start that win a race like like this and and essentially run his career-best I mean that it just all the all the boxes get get checked and and the disqualification in the Gold Cup is is really beginning you look down on the paper and it's the only thing that is going to mar the more the the aftermath of the season but it really could not could not have gone better and you know I Tanya Gunther author and tears afterward the violas and the re police the whole the whole scene talk a little bit about about what this means the Mike Mike and and to Vinnie I mean I think it means everything you know she saw the biker police you know yet to an entourage I think think of about forty five pm poor poor dad got got plenty footage of you know this celebrate the horses coming by the wire so that's what's so rewarding to us is when when you have moments like that so many people get to enjoy it you know that's that's what makes it so so rewarding so contrast well this this one such a deserving winner son occur out of the street cry mayor this fact there's all kinds of connections to to Breeders Cup S- previous and you know one thing todd that it should also be folded in that doesn't get shouldn't get lost looking up and down the charts charts and the winners your influence on on this particular Breeders Cup I don't know if it registers with you when you're looking at AH PP's but between Eskin diarrhea and the more than ready.

"Elsayed good morning I'm good said I didn't think to ask this accept the fact that The dirt mile fresh top of mind off of Mary's visit a we know that it's been an intrusive edition in a handle generator but what's what's its role really as a contributor into a stallion the prospect it just doesn't feel like it it it's all that valuable or or important from that standpoint well I think if you you know look at what Dick Mandela had told recorder as Lake to build sending in the article in the end his leaning towards sprint because appeals to more prestigious rates in the Breeders Cup Mile Dirt Mile and I kinda tell your you need to know the dirt mile probably lack of You know better word probably you're spot for unquote but he decided to go and sprint because it's much more prestigious rates you know the thing is mile races are important yet cigar mile obviously metropolitan mile those races are a pretty big stallions resume the Breeders Cup dirt mile as opposed to the biggest cup mile on on the glass doesn't have that cachet which basically question and with that idea in mind and absolutely right just looking at the and and here's you know here's the list of winners and of course city alight last year Battle of Midway Thamar coups Lemes map and certainly his his stallion career off to a very nice start golden sense back to back tap czar calebs Ossete Dakota phone furthest Land Albertus Maximus and Carinthian the first of the the dirt mile winners so it it isn't it's not as if you know that list golden sense in recent years golden sense and Leems map can't you can't argue with the with the early returns on hairstyling efforts no you know Liam's math at one of the prestigious Woodward Cutler is like Golden sense showed us forum early by winning Santa Anita Derby Day later cut back in in trips in one the I think he wanted dirt mild lights right no I mean you know both those horses are promising career tally as well obviously you know came into that race Legitimate prospects beforehand you know a wonderfully Catalina cruiser interestingly enough going this dirt mile and I don't know if they will or not because the only blemish is record I believe is that the dirt mile from a year ago the way he's he's perfect but the one thing he's whacking is that great one and that that would be important Chris his careers balancing now that's a fair that's a fair points for for a horse like for a horse like him just getting that yeah just getting that mark is is probably is probably enough and so from that standpoint you you WanNa pick the the race that is more likely to you're more likely to win remember I think when when when Vinnie Viola and and Todd pletcher made that choice with Liam's map it felt a little this pointing I mean because he looked coming off the Woodward way yeah it just felt like go for the brass ring although at the same time going off going off with a slam dunk slam dunk to some degree in the in the so you still have to go out and win it they don't give it away no exactly I so I just hit the big my biggest frustration I have no problem with anybody that goes in this direction it just it it in the breeders cups interest in handing the event it just invariably has taken courses from you know from two of the much more important races the classic and and the sprint although this year it's certainly not going to hurt the sprint this year the sprint which has been kind of limping along with smallish builds and and you know a little less interesting than it used to be not this year it's got every potential to be as as entertaining his any race on on the on the card over the two days said aside from Breeders Cup I've got a bunch of boy a whole bunch of things to talk about

"Churchill getting started would bind with they're the first really too big weekends they also course got the international later in the meet later in the fall and and that brings in some international shippers this woodbine mile just the mile either northern dancer the more you look at it. I thought was was was intriguing and there's plenty of other a lot of stars on the card including Holy Khaleda and pink Loyd. WHO's I I for a horse? That's one like twenty seven in a row. Nobody seems the talk about him or pay much attention to him. Bob Tillers streaking sprinter and here's a streaking sprinter victim Rio depends on where the sprint destination is. I think might Tapei at times but shop racing form a yes to the windows. Definitely Pink Floyd is is really sort of a marvel in terms of how he's performed well routinely I of course needed him to at least be third in this race last year in the contest and finished fifth so the pink floyd stop it will be nowhere near Wreck Stale Ontario and so his chances tomorrow we'll probably increase exponentially. He's in the early. They put the bold venture early on the card actually in fact when I went to the stakes together and put them up Derby Trail Oh. I didn't even look that that early on the card so I didn't even have to go back in fact I don't know if I did go back and put it up but there are a couple couple of very nice horses here including Carlin's honor the Jack Oxley Breezy York good old Yordan approaching half a million dollars for a chiefs would and Stewart Simon you know a lot of your a lot of your local players in the sprint scene but pink Cloyd is now twenty one twenty six and it really was late last year September October that he started to show some some frings signs of tiring and Kinda sputtered out at the end of the year could. Could he be beaten in here. I don't think so no it looks like he's he's back where he needs to be and I don't really know I guess other than Caroline's honor who's supposed to be particularly big threat to him in the spot so he he should get the job done. I mean it's always nice to see good. Horses do Well York than obviously was in much better form coming into this last year having run a good second pink Floyd Royd individual and and that was also during a period of time where pink floyd was having a really hard time getting out of the gate so he's a little ornery for a seven year old gelding and he had a little bit gate trouble really about four or five races in a row going into last year's bold venture he he's not he still not they really particularly the obedient or when it comes to getting out of the gate or being trained for it but he's definitely a little bit better spot with that right now so I think given that he's he's inform and should be sitting right off of the of the pace. If you worked in may be line to the front end. I think he should be okay before we talk about the Canadian the end the grade to which does start the cross country and will incorporate the pebbles and the nightcap at Belmont Nixon thoughts about last week at Belmont. We talked about this Jockey Club Derby and oaks and the Grand Prix. I talked to Andy on Tuesday. The Grand Prix was oddly contest than I thought but some some quick hits on opening the opening salvos at Belmont. I guess guess I'll try and keep it as charitable as possible. Given I took my shots at it last week but I think they played out largely. How we expected decide thought was a pretty impressive winner of the Jockey Club oaks overcoming? I think by all counsel was a pretty negative pace setup and winning is much the best running down Wonderman who I thought probably got a little bit more the run of the race and the American contingent as we expected in that race as well as the Jockey Club Derby were pretty much no shows and it could also be that the American continuing is pretty thin out by now. We'll talk about the pebbles and a little bit but the pebbles is going to be the ninth race for one hundred thousand dollars or more for three year olds fillies on turf going back to June sixth six and that's insane so the ranks of American horses that are ready to go a mile and three eighths early in September. We're really not very not very robust and and that proved out on the lady side and I thought Spanish mission I I actually thought he was totally out of position and thought that he was about to have a Jamie Spencer Special before he was able to overcome it and get the job done so a little bit. I know that the horse was capable of overcoming his writer. I I would imagine he he should be one of the better distant sources that we could potentially see over here next year given that he's going to be off now until the spring and there's just obviously connections that have problems shipping over the Grand Prix North American Jockey Club invitational brought to you by whatever most pretentious name of all time that was one of the most oddly run races I've ever seen first of all. I don't know how the hell everybody knew. Marconi was winning that race for fun and then to watch the riders of both realm and roaming union gather a hold of their horses so strongly almost as if they were waiting for Marconi to catch up and take the lead after he blew the break so that he could go one sixteen flat it was basically sort of the epitome of what we complain about left and right about American American dirt racing right now and you know in this day and age of sort of turf occasion of American racing where everybody points to turf races races are run like turf races. It's almost as if one horse makes the lead all the other guys say okay well. They're the pacesetter we're just GONNA go ahead and sit back and wait for them to come back to us and the majority of the time on the dirt that just doesn't happen even so shockingly Marconi was able to set a pedestrian pace and and went on with it and I I obviously would not have been a big fan of his at the price he went off often. We talked about how it looked like a bit more competitive race on paper the other todd pletcher trainee your to blame. I thought ran pretty well. He was able to stop the pace on the inside but you know I don't y horse like roaming union was in there if he wasn't GonNa GonNa contest the pace especially given that he's from connections like Michelle Navin who generally have a pretty decent idea how to win dirt racist so that was is a little bit of a head scratcher. you know look my personal opinion is that if there's any thought given to this turf triple. I really hope that same amount of money is committed to a dirt program and trying trying to incentivize horsemen to get there and run on dirt more frequently really try and build up the claiming ranks again because it's kind of embarrassing through the first three days of racing. I'm I'm sorry through the first three days of Racing Belmont there were seventy eight horses total entered to run on dirt and there are over seventy eight horses enter to run dirt in the first day at Churchill so I if the same number number of races and and that's that's not good. That's a big big problem that creates a big problem in the winter so that's my hope for it as it is. I guess we'll see probably a little bit better from Spanish mission in the Diese Lisa next year well we turn to Belmont today and into the weekend a couple of very good maiden races actually as part of that card and maybe we'll touch on them but let's let's look at the cross country pick five and it is comprised of of the three three of the stakes would bind the Canadian the mile and the northern dancer that you know you the top of your head. You wouldn't have thought it the three of them were as complex as actually I think they are and then the pebbles and the turf sprint claiming nightcap the eleventh at Belmont so let's start with the Canadian you know this is an interesting field the and really they'll competition. Idea should probably go off a pretty solid favorite. I don't really see how tactically you could make a real stand with her and she's a horseshoe. Obviously needs to lay back and make one run and you know those types generally at the mercy of the pace and this race does not look like it's going to have really any pace speak of so so she's going to have to overcome that now. I will say that you'll Rosario getting back on board to me feels like a very good thing. It does seem like she's just a little bit better horse when he's John Her but now the flip side of that is that we know Joel style. He's GonNa take her back and let her make one run so I mean they're they're going to. There's going to have to be some pace in here that you can't really foresee and I guess the hope is that Dixie moon and or starship do believe maybe show a little bit more speed than they have before. That's if you're back competition of ideas with any great fervor because obviously what this is shaping up as a situation where Holy Helena has a big tactical advantage on the other favorite and and she's been effective at Woodbine in the past. You look good winning the dance smartly last time Jimmy was giving a little bit of time since and I think she's a horse that that will really get the run of the race and and that's GonNa make her toffee. This could be a situation where on your your pick five. You're really leaning on those two pretty heavily and maybe you could give a little bit of a nod holy Helena on one one more additional ticket. I did want to try and make a case for to Riga and my hope is the Tyler Galileo. Maybe a little bit more aggressive with her than Johnny. Velazquez was was last time he finished just length and a half behind the competition of ideas did get into a little bit of trouble amazingly. She got into trouble in the three-horse rates which it happens of course and with a little bit cleaner run maybe second off the off the layoff off the ship in we can see some improvement grim oceans been a little the little laid back with her she she ran on July twentieth didn't work until August thirty first but might be one of those horses that can stay fit without doing that. I I'm always very very in tune and was looking at his horses in these kind of scenarios as they they generally overperform relative to their odds so I'm GonNa go ahead and include Theresa's well the and will include could starship jubilee more than likely those two has backups because I think they each offers some appeal at what should be better prices than the two chalks should note that ah Jimmy Jerkins after sending Holy Elena opt for the dance smartly basically is as left her there and oh my Gosh the stronach trainer but my Woodbine what is yes thank you Mike Doyle. Mike Doyle has been handling and Jimmy is on TV with seth deny after after precision is one and he told the story about Jimmy said he got the notification is it is stable mail all that Holy Helena had worked Labor Day weekend and so gets the notice he opens it up and Airy Jerry Sees Holy Elena six longs one eleven and three Jimmy said got on the phone to this is Mike what's going on up there and he said I really don't worry though or she did it easy. Did it easy the track was the polly was slick. It was cold or whatever yeah what eleven at three and you know what I did. I brought up with Jimmy that great story that is his father told about Bo purple and going out to Hawthorn for the Hawthorne Gold Cup on Tuesday the race as was Saturday and on Tuesday he gets a call from a Chicago sportswriter and said Jerkins. I wanted to ask you for comment about outvote purples work and said what about it. He says well he he he went a mile in one thirty. Two and three Korea broke the track record or mile. I think he went to violent at eight and broke the track record. What what forty seven forty six shades or something and and and Jerkin said you know? I'm sure he'll be fine and sure enough. He went out and won the Gold Cup but that was funny. One one eleven and three

"We're back at the races. Twenty minutes to do on this Monday and happy to be able to wish a happy new year. And congratulations Todd Pletcher off of Bella, vases, win in the Marsha was river, Saturday Todd well done regulations. Thank you very much. I asked you this before because you do get horses like this occasionally that are bought, you know, from previous connections, and you gotta get a read on them. I mean, obviously, she she's an accomplished mayor talk a little bit about what you got. And how quickly you seized up on her? And I thought this was a very promising effort. Yeah, we were really encouraged by you know, we we had our in for a short time last winter after she was she was purchased Mr. Boorda laws and see young and she came in. And she just look like she need a little time off so to Jerry board laws credit. You know, he's very patient with her. My dad's police no and gave her good parade. And since you came back this summer, she's summer in weight fall, you know, she's really really come on and Jimmy toner did a great job with her early on. And you know, we're just fortunate to to get an opportunity to have her. To be honest, knowing the way, the Phillips family operates to to be able to buy into this family to buy into the great mayor fountainhead of of Darby, Dan, that's a big opportunity, and obviously speaks to some of the long term interests of of the board. Lonzo operation. Yeah. I mean that was that was part of what was very attractive about her as you know. That's that's like you said such a tremendous family and when Darby dance. So that was part of what meter attractive, and, you know, getting a great at stake when whether you know. Planas contender razor through this year. And then sort of where we are at the, you know, come November time..

"Joy, talented, horse just needs the right setup can win any turf race in America with the right on the right day with the right trip. And then I'm gonna use the eight channel maker who was closing in to that slow pace of at Saratoga where we're glorious empire wired the field. I think channel make could be a little bit more difficult here as Runwell Belmont in the past as well. So I'll use those three horses, the one, the three in the eight to close out the pig, three into start a double here. What I'm going to take a look at doing here as Aubrey. I think Opry the five worse for Todd Pletcher was scheduled to start on the turf back at Saratoga was rained off. The turf of didn't run so well ran third that day than Todd runs the horse back in a steak with anticipation as a maiden, the horse misses the break, still wins. I think it's a very talented voice. I think that one's gonna be pretty tough. And the pilgrim. I'm gonna single there to close out the pick three and also to start a double into the jockey club. Gold Cup right here. I'm gonna use to horses. I'm gonna use diversified and I'm gonna use Mendelson. It's dangerous used because they possibly could hurt each other's chances. But I think that the the riders Iran and Ryan more gonna probably be aware of that. I think they're going to stay off at each other. I think Mendelssohn will either go to the lead and diversify will sit off or vice versa. I think whoever is on the lead is going to have the advantage. I don't think they're gonna dinged on the front end and hurt each other's chances. But I'm gonna pick for one of those two to stick around in the mile and a quarter race for Belmont, leading into the Breeders Cup, plaza. Good luck. We'll see next week. Hi everyone. This is David Arrigoni for this week's time for US spotlight..

"todd pletcher" Discussed on Daily Racing Form

"Like I think that when it comes to to Chad Brown Todd Pletcher. You know, those guys are going to always take a lot of money up here. There's a lot of fans that come here. There's a lot of people that that recognize those two guys are the best trainers here. They, they win the me. You know, consistently one of the one of the two. And so I think when you you have to be smart in identifying win, and it's an appropriate time to lean heavily on those guys in when you have a remarkable opportunity to try to play against them. If Todd runs a first time starter in a dirt race, he's got a really good shot at being favored. You have to try to identify which one of those are the ones you want a single in which one of those you wanna take an opportunity playing against the same thing with Chad on the turf. A lot of his first time starters will get like that as well in voiding that hype and or buying it at the right time is is is advantageous. You just have to try to play the narrative game with it when you're looking at it, see who the owners are. You know, is it a big day? Those guys try to win those races for their clients on big days. If Todd runs a horse on Travers day in a maiden race, he's probably pretty good as on KOMO. Also, you want to keep an eye out for one thing with Todd that that is that a lot of people send orces to Todd because they want to get to the derby. So they send him dirt types. If he's running a horse first time on the grass, typically one of the things I try to assume and sometimes it doesn't work out is that that would might not be the best of the lot. Because if that one was really talented in precocious in ready to cut a fire, they would probably find themselves on the dirt to find out if in win that could happen. That's not always the case, disagree. Petr. I'm gonna actually go ahead and disagree with that point, and here's what it has to do with. Actually, I agree with your point if you're talking about a turf sprint, but later in the meat, when we see racist going longer on the turf year, I disagree because sometimes you'll see horses who are running on grass. I'm going back ten years here to pull out big Brown. I remember being confused as to why this horse. What looked to me was going to be dirt. Horse was running on turf in the in the first race, and they're not carding to turn dirt races for those distance type horses. They are carting to turn turf races. So I think that's an important. Distinct to make and you can keep yourself keep yourself a little bit out of trouble by thinking of that way. There's plenty of horses who might have a future on Turpin. It's no negative at all. It's that they and the they're breeding will tell you this need that need that distance as well. Absolutely correct. I mean of, you know, that is why a lot of times you'll see him in those spots, but but I think that if you're going to play against short price, Todd, I would prefer to play against one going to turn on the graphs, then going five and a half on the dirt completely agree with that as well. Plenty of over there and they're both gonna beat that right now. That's. That's right. And I think it's a trap you could fall into, and I did this one summer when I was public handicapping up here back in my days at the Saratoga special, bingo. Swear for somebody. One summer I had, I had determined in my mind that the Pletcher horses. Where be I, this was incorrect. I was thinking to myself that they were going to be over bad to the point where I would always try to look into different direction. Can you imagine how poorly I did j. in my public handicapping picks that me trying to fade the top pitchers in the made ranges..
