"So it's two thousand and three right. I was only like two and three years. Old during the two thousand three season for the marlins. But jeffrey loria was definitely not. He was the new owner second ear into his tenure. As the owner of the miami. Marlins if you i really encourage you all like i literally. He has no idea that i exist. But david sampson is. I'm a big fan of the way that he breaks down the business aspect of baseball because he was the team. President for the miami marlins. And he was jeffrey loria stepson. Ask for a while as well. But he was the president of the expos. And the marlins of until. I believe around twenty seventeen but that you in three florida. Marlins season was the eleventh season for major. For the major league baseball franchise in the national league. The marlins ended up playing the yankees in the world series. And it was. It's a bridge series. If i do say so myself. The marlins became just the second team in baseball history to win a world series championship. Despite being ten or more games below five hundred at some point in the season the marlins at one point in the season were twenty were nineteen and twenty nine. The marlins wouldn't get back to the postseason until last year in twenty twenty. It was really amazing but the the one of the big reasons that this team was so good is because they pulled off some major major moves in the off season. The most impressive was going and getting draw. Rigas the ten time gold glover they also traded for catcher. Charles johnson. Outfielder preston williams. Both of those guys came from the colorado rockies for four their leadoff man want bear on november sixteenth of two thousand. Two charles johnson was traded by the florida. Marlins we vic darren board. Pablo zun a- in preston wilson to the colorado rockies for one mike hampton and cash shortly thereafter hampton was traded to the atlanta braves for tim. Spoon bake bar. Margaret spooning bargar. She's me they also signed some pretty good I mean obviously they padraig is was a free agent signing. They also signed kevin. Laura from the red sox and they also Signed todd holdsworth and matt trainer as free agents that year. So they're opening day. Starters you had josh beckett on the bump. You had louise castillo at second base. Not the luis castillo that we know with the reds two different. Sto actually you also had one encarnacion and right field. Alex kansallis short todd hollandsworth and left. Derek lee was at first and mike. Mike lowell was at third base. Quantier was in center and yvonne. Rodriguez was at the dish so they ended up in the season. With a record of ninety one in seventy one ten games back of the braves for first but they did end up playing very very very well and so they got off to a very sluggish. Start jeff touring. The manager was at at the start of the season. He was struggling out of the gate and the tea and let the team to a sixteen twenty to start adding to that. Their three top pitchers were mark redman. Aj brunette and josh beckett. They all had eat they. All of those guys had endured injuries that season but beckett and redman were able to finish the rest of their two thousand three season on may eleventh tour. Borg was fired and replaced by jack. Mckinnon mckean who was a seventy two seventy two years old and began his major league managerial career in one thousand nine hundred ninety three with the royals and these guys in miami absolutely love this man so some midseason acquisitions. They traded for jeffco nine. Who was a first baseman. in exchange. For a couple of flavors they called up dontrelle willis from the mud. Cats they also called up ugueth urbina right. Handed pitcher decided. They didn't call him up. They traded for her beena from the rangers in exchange for adrian gonzalez and two other minor leaguers. They also signed aaron small an called up miguel cabrera. And that's the that's the. That's the biggest reason why i wanted to Why i wanted to bring in irc talk about this team. Specifically is because mickey was honesty this. The first team was on so padraig. He didn't play very much but he did play in eighty seven games for them. A wasn't a starter but he did have twelve home runs. Sixty two rb is he hits you. Sixty eight that season and had eighty four hits in his three hundred and fourteen at bats. He was he was definitely the guy that played the most out of every platoon flare rotational player He played in or mike. Lowell was the starting third baseman. Mike lowell led the team in home. Runs with thirty two. And rb is with one hundred. Five louis. Castio led the team in average with eight three fourteen average and the lowest average on the team out of their starters was todd hollandsworth. He was hitting two fifty four on the year healed but he only played in ninety three games. Derek lee was also on the team. Eric lee played in one hundred and fifty five games that year at thirty one home runs in ninety. Two rb is very very big for him. Pudge rodriguez hit almost three hundred just underneath it. Actually with eight to ninety seven average he also had a five. Rbi's on the year. They this i mean. This team had a ton of of the same habits on its talent like it's not it's not like they didn't have any talent but starting pitchers most guy. The guy who started the most games was a tie between brad penny and coral pavan. No both of those guys started thirty. Two games bevanda went led the team in innings pitched with two hundred and one but brad benny mark. Redman and dontrelle willis. All had fourteen wins on the year. Josh beckett had a three eight record. Carl bravado led the team in losses however with thirteen losses yet twenty five total decisions for 'em. He had four thirty-three average josh becky even though he had the least amount of starts out of their rotation that year. Aj brunette only got five or four starts before he was shut down for the rest of the year but beckett in his twenty three starts in twenty four periods is led the team in strikeouts with one hundred and fifty two which is really really impressive. Especially when you consider john willis who was apr any all star. He had one hundred. Forty two strikeouts in twenty seven appearances. Air twenty seven. Yeah twenty seven stars mark redman only had one hundred fifty one strikeouts in twenty nine starts that six more starts any. Didn't even have one less strikeout than the josh. Josh beckett was a stud back in the day that's not even a. It's not even a real question if we're gonna be really honest so during the season though..

"Gotta get three to force us into overtime. Oh he almost four on you leaving at the way the first impression right oh man. He is putting. I got one so far and five question of sorry. Sorry we don't do steals. You have to talk to management for next year here. We go which is the only division school to have a penguin as a mascot youngstown state mailed it medium question out the game right which player holds the nhl record for most goals scored in a rookie season with seventy six rookie. Seventy six so that had to be like in the eighties or early nineties type plays. I'm going to go with mario lemieux. Teemu salonen salani all right which. Mlb team produce a fifth consecutive rookie of the year. When todd hollandsworth received the award in nineteen ninety-six that will slow down so we can make these things compelling desktop. I don't want run through the time so fast. The answer is the los angeles dodge. Eric karros mike. Piazza hollandsworth the day. Oh no got the other showing off you. Don't get extra points. All that has impressive is need to remember. i'm here. i remember when when the colts the football team. They had the offense of rookie of the year. And the defense of rookie year recently. With darius leonard and guard but dr yeah in clinton nelson and i remember writing about other teams had done similar things and i think the dodgers one of the teams who also had to rookie of the years in the same year. "Yes, you can, and they took two of three from the Rays here. Look tonight. I think a really big star for Lance Lynn. His last four starts as er A is like over 4.5. He's averaging five innings tonight. Against a good Toronto team north of the border. Yeah. Lance Lynn better. Show up. We need a much better performance. Dairy Gentlemen. Royal starter Chris Vu Bitch was cruising through the Cubs lineup Saturday. He had a no hitter going through six innings. Suddenly, the game was delayed in the seventh because there was a threat of bad weather. The tarp came out on the field. It turned out, it was just a light drizzle. There was no lightning in sight. There was no need for the delay whatsoever. When the game resumed, boo bitch issued a leadoff walk. And then a two run home run to Patrick Wisdom, and there went his no hit bid. I asked, you guys shot or no shot. The decision to delay the game was simply to avoid the Cubs getting a no hit at home and enduring more embarrassment on this already humiliating season. Yes, that's a no shot because the umpires once the game starts are in control. And reportedly, there was a lightning strike a mile from the ballpark in the rules the way they're they're stated before the game, and I had to deal with with this when I was doing their pre post on T V Within five miles. You clear the stands within three miles. You must pull the players off the field, and reportedly, there was a lightning strike one mile from Wrigley Field. Was there the night Lance Berkman while the game was going on, it saw lightning up in the sky ran off the field. And as he ran by me and Todd Hollandsworth, he went I'm not dying for these people see, Uh he ran into the dugout and they stopped the game and ended up Can't postponing the rest. That's what he said to us. He looked as I know. He knew Holly. He goes. I ain't dying for these people. I'm out of here. God while the game was going on while the games are yes, so, But that's that's a shot. Daddy 100% did not want to get no hit by boo bitch. I totally agree with you there. And then I attempted you that takes you that Saturday. Where are the fans? I didn't know it, too. Didn't late. That's right. Oh, my God. Looks like 1980 out there where There was no one there because they had cleared the lower bowl in a lot of people, then left with the weather. So, Danny, gentlemen, shot or no shot. Either of you gentlemen are willing to take the milk Crate challenge. You know, I just got a text from my friend Sarah. Local wants me to do it. TV. No, I'm not going to blow up my A C l for the second time, Danny, you know that would not end. Well for me. That could be fatal. I don't think it ends well for anyone Have you like I'm obsessed with this I saw late last week and I can't stop watching them. These people are nuts. Nobody falls in a way that doesn't look like it's going to kill them. You see people hitting their back for people unfamiliar. What they do is they stack milk crates. So it's one, then two, then three, then four, then five, and you have to go up and over and then back down. And so far, I have not seen a single video of somebody making it over to the other side. Usually they fall down at like the peak, the highest point. They hit their back on the milk crates. They hit their face on the floor. I mean, these aren't light tumbles. These are serious wipeouts. No chance I'm doing no, There's no chance. I'm doing that either. I mean, that's That look that could be really dangerous. I mean, unless you're trying to be on the TV show ridiculousness. There's no reason to be on that thing. Hey, how come but he's not on the show today because he tried to milk Great challenge and he blew out his back of the attraction. Yeah. No chair. That's the attraction. Legs up. Arms up, cap. I agree with you shot, beep beep in the hospital. Exactly, but a slow drip going exactly. I'm in pain in epidural. I can't move. Okay. Lady came up to me at the.

"Was kind of a half-hearted spin spin that i don't like this question again okay so the question is an interesting one i think. What is your favorite in. This will say a lot about you your favorite childhood memory your favorite childhood memory. John is something warm and fuzzy. Is it something that what is your favorite childhood. Memory held hood. Memory i now. I don't know what qualifies as childhood. How old we talk. And when i was in high school is that you're out of yeah. We're talking about childcare. They've gotta go four little boys john ireland e grown up in high school. Yeah i was thinking adult at age. Five i hang on. I'm trying to think was an adult at age. Five yes awesome. I'll give you mine and hori lindsey. Ti so my favorite childhood memory is that every year we went to altoona pennsylvania. The night before thanksgiving so we would get there on a wednesday night and my dad would bring a bottle of crown royal in the purple back remember crown royal ads for it all. Yeah and that was a big deal he was. He was passing the crown royal to his dad's so it was steve. Mashad ski senior stevens. Sean ski junior. Me stephen sean. The third and every year we and it probably started by the time. I was maybe eight or nine years old. We would get there. We would eat highway pizza and then we would all drink. Shot of crown royal. Now how old are you at this point probably nine. You're drinking crown royal at age nine and that's good memory. One show seriously. it was great. I slept really well. No wonder you have issues. No that was a great memory. The purple bag my grandfather excited for that purple bag of crown royal. I see the commercials for it now. It means something. is that a high end. Thing is crown royal a high end thing. It's not bad. Yeah yeah yeah. That's that's my favorite memory. Every year getting shot at crown. Royal the night before thanksgiving right. I don't know why this popped intimate laughing. It sounds like a memory of a troubled alcoholic which you're not so it's interesting to say when i was a kid one of my favorite christmas presents. I ever got yeah. That's probably nine. Eight or nine k was somebody gave me an aba basketball member. Those things those red white and loons. My mom's family lived in pennsylvania and so we went back to pennsylvania for christmas. Somebody gave me the red white and blue basketball is very excited. We put all our christmas presents in a box and the airlines lost the box. Oh no and i was incredibly bummed. Just incredibly bitter about this in one day. Three or four days. After we got home there was a knock on the door. They found the box and saved my aba. And i must have kept that thing for about ten years. I used to love that ball. Because i i used to watch dr j. right in the aba. Back in that way. Way way back. When i was a little kid. I love dr. J. and that red white and blue basketball was so cool. That's a good one. So that's what popped into my head. Okay lindsey favorite childhood memory. Maybe not that of a young troubled alcoholic. What do you got. The first thing i think of is some. My family used to go to spring training down in florida. You know most families go well. I feel like a lot of them would go to disney or hawaii or whatever for spring break but we went to spring training and the indians had spring training down in winter haven florida. My uncle live nearby and we did go to disney world. That year too. But that wasn't a memory so my dad and my brother and i decided to go to the ballpark. This isn't like ninety five. Maybe ninety six and my favorite players manny ramirez as you guys know love manny and the team had a game you know at another stadium and usually when they have the games at the stadiums they leave some of the better the only take a couple of the good veteran players so manny ramirez did not go on the trip to the other game and he was back at the complex with very few people. They're just getting his workout. Whatever so my dad. And my brother and i woke up super early. We went there and we kinda followed him around until he went swimming and the pool to get his workout so we sat outside of the pool and waited for like an hour and a half. Maybe waited for manny to finish his work out in the pool so we can get a picture with them so after he gets out cool and comes over him. We're like we're the only ones they're like my favorite player. Could i get a picture with you. And he pulled out of his bag one of his used bats. He signed it in his silver. Marker like the nice manny ramirez signature. Not like the crappy. One that he you know he started to the embassy when he was older he took he had me and my brother he got on the back of a gator golf carts way me and my brother sit next to him on each side of the gator and took a picture with us. Wow that we're nice you of this nobody'll okay. So here's my favorite inspires me to tell my favorite spring training story so makes you and i went to spring training a few times i went to covered for many many years. And it would be impossible to articulate. How good tommy. Lasorda was with fans he really. I mean one of tommy was life of the party especially at spring training so one day i'm hanging out at the batting cage or waiting to do a story. And tommy is throwing batting practice to billy ashley. Todd hollandsworth and eric karros. So tommy is thrown them breaking balls. Because remember ashley problem hitting breaking balls. So tommy keeps bouncing him in front home plate..
