"I don't i don't see that being a problem as far. Just plod haley becoming. That's how todd haley got. That's hi todd. Haley became an nfl head coach without even play football past a youth level. Come was gimme because he no. He had an end. That's what i'm talking about having an in so you might an innocent as a ball boy and you don't think anything of it. I'm sure when. Todd haley woods at steelers jets camp as a as a ball boy. Nobody thought anything of it. They thought it was cute. That's who hail. He's got his kid out here. Ballboy he wound up being an nfl head. Coach i'm talking about in. But just tom dak prescott russell wilson cam newton any of the star black quarterbacks game lamar jackson any if they had a kid who wanted to be a ball boy. The team tells them know john. Harbaugh tells lamar jackson. No you can't you can't be a ballboy can't can't do it can't do it now. There's ways you can. I think there's other ways you can explain that and say look. Here's the problem with nepotism. And here's why why black people can't get their foot in the door. i get that. But we're talking about a ballboy. Where if any of these guys were old enough and that those kids of course they're getting a gig you tell me any other star black player in the. Nfl couldn't do it. If de'andre hopkins had a kid who was fourteen. Hey can my son be a ballboy that everybody's a ballboy jason. So that's a myth. I mean sure you know. Everybody wants to every every debt. Most most players probably have kids. They will love for their kids to come to work with them and be a part of the team. You can't do that for everybody. It's a special thing that only a handful of people get to do and you know it. Everybody can't do it and my point is that we've seen the nepotism in this league. It is a disease. There's no way rod marinelli should have been able to hire his family members. He never even been a head coach at any level high school or college but.

"Get it. You got to have the crazy balance. Really all you got. There's only certain ways you can block. It just just doesn't really happen too much anymore. Though the the Atlanta game last year where they recovered successive onside kicks ridiculous, but yeah, it's such a low percentage play when when I first started coming to even two thousand. It was probably a thirty two twenty five to thirty percent chance now it's tended to twelve percent in that area, and it's just started hypertension kick. I got a chance I really do If it doesn't get done this year, trust me. It'll be brought up again next year. How about did did shoot Tampa Bay bucks fans. Be worried after seeing a very old look and Tom Brady on the golf course. Not. Not actually hidden a pretty well was a bad first nine holes except for that seven. Hundred But what what did you make of Brady's performance there? Wasn't pretty. You know I i. really enjoy it look. It's not easy so when I played golf in high school. I play occasionally I'm not very good, but it's very hard to play in the rain, but how about that shot Barclays? It out I mean. That was. That was fun. That was fun. definitely one of those things anything else on the docket. Adam there was the. INSENT. They want to make incentives for the the the the. Teams to hire minorities as coaches and general managers. That kind of was was put out there once that came out. There was so much negative pushback that that they tabled it and said that they weren't even going to vote on that. Where is that? Was that a mistake by the League? They realized that didn't come off right. Why did they table that? Yeah, look, it's not gonNA happen yeah the IT got shot down. Thank goodness because the Rooney role as it was instated many years ago. was calling looney rule the one they came up with. Was Awful. It was in. This Day and H. How embarrassing that! Teams would be incentivized. To they get they get be able to move up in and around. If they hired a minority, it's so ridiculous and insulting It was pathetic I. I can't believe he's been brought up. It just tells you the state of the inability of the League to promote minorities. It's been awful, but the good thing is now. It's going to be harder to block. You cannot block a coordinator to someone who could interview for coordinator job. Can't you can't block them anymore? But yeah, the League is this is the one thing that they fail completely with this minority hiring. It's not gotten much better in my years of cover the league. They're trying, but they've got to come up with a better way to to to promote minorities because they've. They've failed in that area. The biggest problem is it's nepotism in the NFL. And that's a lot of guys. Get their jobs. That's how they get That's how Todd Haley play. Golf in college and wind up an NFL coach of his dad. There's a lot of that's..

"I'm navigator. I compute trajectories a spacecraft figuring out where they're at and we're GONNA go. This is innovation now. Bringing bringing you stories behind the ideas that shave our future precise radio navigation using radio frequencies to determine position is vital to the success awesome deep space exploration missions. Here's Todd Haley Project Manager for NASA's deep space atomic clock to explain why precision should matters those signals traveled speed of light. That's three hundred thousand kilometers per second. So if you're off by a millisecond you'd be off by three hundred kilometers and measuring the distance so that spacecraft so it's really important that you have extremely precise timing on your signals de sac deep space time clock. I takes the UH technology we have in our ground atomic clocks packages it up into smalls based craft ready size device the mercury ions in the clock make it the most stable atomic clock ever flown and this kind of precision will ultimately help space navigators like todd pinpoint spacecraft's crafts position anywhere in space for innovation now. "Land Rover above and beyond Oscar nominee. For chicago. Yeah. Yeah. Oh was. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Now that you say that guy. Remember just. Yeah. That's pretty good run. She she got you ever been on stage. She thinks she's she's I don't think she's been e got nominate Tono Tony. Yeah. She needs the e got we're talking about key. No, EMMY, Oscar Grammy and Tony the performance award. So she's got the Grammy at least been nominated for an Oscar. I don't know. Well, living single. But yeah, all right. This is crazy. So Josh Harris, whose former teammate have been Rothlisberger is saying that Ben Rothlisberger intentionally caused a fumble in twenty fourteen game because he was set with a call that Todd. Haley had made that the game. It was a game against the ravens the last game of the twenty fourteen regular season. The Steelers had a ten point lead with about a minute to go. And Ben thought that they should've taken a knee and run out the clock end the game. Todd Haley calls a play Rothlisberger didn't like it. And so he intentionally put the ball on the ground. He tries to handle to the fullback. And we're looking at it during the break guys, the fullback clearly did not think that the ball was coming. So the paws on the ground. Yeah. I didn't it didn't look that way. To me. I can't speak definitively was in his head. But just from looking at the video, and we blew it up really big on the ipad. It was at any point thinking to football is gonna come his way, certainly. Ball is not intended just based on the the motions of the fullback. And and the things that he did to get to the line of scrimmage. The ball wasn't supposed to go to him. But what I would say I don't I wasn't in the huddle with. I don't know Josh Harris like that. This is the sort of stuff that comes up when you start alienate your teammates. Now, I looked at the video and also do know being, you know, being eight as far as football play call in and memorization and things of that nature. Sometimes you got a dummy down things for be just been a mistake. It could have been he he he thought something I'm gonna I wanna give him to benefit of the doubt that he didn't know the play. Okay. He he forgot the play that's bad. I want. I rather say that that he attention tried to fumble. Because they had a giant Lee. Here's C O. I much rather. No, no. Yeah. Person as opposed to just Nydia dumb enough for football circles. People tell you you're not dealing with a, you know. Every scholar. Berger of being the smartest guy in the room ever said that. He may have forgotten. He may have forgotten the plate. Here's my thought. It was for the fullback, and he stuck the ball out. Here's what Josh air said about that. This is a quote he wrote this on Twitter Todd Haley called appl- run play with very little time left in the game. Ben wanted to kneel he rolled his eyes in the huddle. He then purposely fumbles the ball. I had to recover it at that moment. I knew a kind of person he was he went on to write. And I was a fan of Ben I was star struck the first time I saw him. It was an honor to see Big, Ben. Then I saw what he was it made it sour for me. That's why they tell you to never meet your heroes now key to your point. Maybe he just called a play. And then by the time, he got to the line of scrimmage. He forgot all the time. Title doubt. But if the play comes in and Ben Rothlisberger I rolls. Yeah..

"I remember one day one time. How's he college? Do que me. I'm looking any run on the field. He's a mini tummy get you. So if you get your ass. Like I had to put my hands. Like man coming out. Coming out period. When I was with the jets poor sales in Todd Haley tried to pull me out of a game. And I told him. No, I'm not coming out. I'm not coming out at all. I'll let you know when I'm tired. I'll let you know. You don't make that decision for me. Well in a soccer game yesterday. Chelsea's goalkeeper Kappa Kappa looked like he went down with an injury. The coach wanted to sub him out with the backup keeper. And he basically said no made up screaming at each other from across the field that he wasn't going to remember in soccer. Once you get sub. You cannot go like baseball once you're out you're out. Yeah. And you're about to go to penalties. So this was like an important sub and Dusit reaching out his calf because cramp, and he's like, no, you know, how they waved a finger in Europe. And he was like, no, no, no, no. No. No, no, no. How you doing? How you doing order? No, no. As with this do man, I don't even Spanish the Spanish now. Yeah. But I've I've gone in that situation the the situation with grooten that they always run this because he pulled me out of the game. And I'm like what you know at that point. You know, he comes. We'll have a conversation away. I want not the Not way. the way of you do too much right now, man. But no, you coaches when they get holding when you not want when you're not ready to come out. That's the problem. I get it the I'm not ready to come out. But at some point, you're gonna have anarchy. Nobody's gonna come out when the coach wants you to come out because certain people can do that though. Right. I guess hopefully because of the whole team decides I'm not coming out. We got a problem. For instance, Scottie Pippen said I'm not going in. You know, it could coach drained it then coach gain minimum Bucker fool. So I just got to be Athey of a certain stature, I would assume kept by is not see I would never not go in. See that's the difference going in out go in. But pulling me out is the problem. If you tell me to go in I'm going in only way, I'm not going in is if it's a blowout. I was just going to all of a sudden with first of all I'm not going to be the dude on the end of the bench going into blow out anyway. So that, you know, but if you need me to go in and I had to go out go in I would go in for sure as far as my teammates. I'm gonna do that. But coming out, I'll let you know when I want to come out. It's it's just a it's a great example of what you're talking about in what KEPCO went through with his coach that because for most of us your interactions with coaches and in highschool at best at best and your interactions with your coach through high school, are that guy's the law of the land. That would he says go you don't push back against the coach. You don't say I'm coming out. So when you see stuff like this when you see a confrontation that you have with Jon Gruden everybody's eyes get real big like you're not allowed to. But it's different when you get into the professional sports. The players have arguably. More influence, more control. They're more important than the coach. Of course, you can push back and scream at the October coaches. Won't you go? Do it. He says you got a problem with how did want you chew go run up against this, dude. This to ninety coming off the AS full speed since you don't like the way I did. So you you always. One of the things that happens with athletes is when we step on the field in between the white lines..

"And the news was that in two thousand nineteen Keith Butler along with being the defensive coordinator is also going to be taking over the role of Outside Linebackers coach now is that means they're not filling Joey Porter's vacancy with any outside name like Kevin Greene. Who all the fans wanted that also means that he's going to be returning back to his roots? So to speak as he was linebacker coach. Under dick lebeau for all those years. Guys, avocado questions for you to answer. First and foremost is it do you think this is actually manageable for a defensive coordinator to also in entire position group? I know that everyone says well Randy feet in her coaches the quarterbacks how much coaching the quarterbacks you think's being done that isn't already being done as the offensive coordinator. But I'll as let answer that yourselves. And then Secondly, is is what is this means for the defense is this means that they're going to have to coordinators with Terrell Terrel Austin, and you know, Butler with the front seven and the secondary. Brian I'll go with you first. What are your thoughts on this move? The dealers may first and foremost, I thought Randy feet. Her was the quarterback coach and Ben Roethlisberger was the offensive coordinator. Correct. Me if I'm wrong. You're right. You're politics. Also, we have another coach coaching an entire an entire group. And that's Mike Tomlin kind of makes me one. Under guys did has Keith Butler been demoted, and they're just not put it in on paper. That's kind of screams to me. Here's the bottom line. His contract runs out at the end of this year. They don't have to fire him. They could do the same thing. They did with Todd Haley or but also say, hey, you can fight for your job. You could fight for the outside linebacker coaching job. He he did wonders there too. But he also had all the talent in the world. Maybe if he just focuses on that what is peril Austin actually doing it. Did you save the front seven is like secondary? He'll be primarily the secondary. Okay. So with that being said, we're Tom Bradley at this point. He's still on staff me still said they're doing is they want to split up the safeties and mcquarters between the two of them. It's going to get which one. But to me this is actually an audition a very cheap audition for peril. Austin for to be the offensive coordinator. I mean, excuse me, the defensive coordinator it could be. I mean, it could be that. It could be. Let's a quiet demotion. And maybe have Mike Tomlin do more of the the coordinating. But we haven't really loved what he's been doing as coordinator..

"He wanted him to be a leader and be more of a CEO. So they bring in Todd Haley which Hugh Jackson with on board with and then they bring in they bring in Todd Haley and give them autonomy over the off. And when the offense wasn't playing. Well, I'm told that he wanted to assert some control over the offense at with Haley did not take well to and so you had this weird situation where Jackson the head coach the team if he was like he can't circle troll over his own offense. You have Todd Haley who's you know, basically doing whatever he wants because he was given that option to do. So and then, you know, after all of this, you know, it's clearly not working, and it's starting to spill out into the public and they're arguing Hugh Jackson office office, and then both of them end up getting fired in the same day. And so I don't think the offense dramatically change after Todd Haley. He was gone. I think that like, Freddie kitchens admitted as much as press conference that you know, the same play they were doing the same things. I think that like. Team needed that team. Definitely just needed a new dose of energy and leadership. And I think the Greg Williams his credit and for kitchens were able to provide it. So then what what it based on your your discussions and everybody either on record or whatever you could share as background with us here. Seth from what you gleaned from all the people the animus between Baker Mayfield in and Hugh Jackson would be would be what. Okay. I mean where where did that all come from played out? Well, I I didn't Baker was accurate when he said, you know, I think he called him a fake on Instagram. And I think that's what he saw. I'm not saying, it's totally legitimate. But I think that like there was a sense of the building. And again, this goes back to the power structures that and the reporting structure is that that the owner sets up that Hugh realized that he felt like that the Browns and their direction especially under Sashi Brown way worse than what she thought there's a lot of disputing about that. But that's how I think that's how he felt and. And so I think that when you have the owner being the typewriter you have a lot of fighting in a lot of yourself survival starts to kick in. And so I think that like you realize that he was in a very difficult situation. And you know, I think that he fought to keep his job as best he could and in the process probably alienates the people in the building Seth workers from here on the rich Eisen show. I'll tell you just having this conversation with you. And hearing what I hear in knowing what I know. And and obviously what I just read in your piece, I think the kitchens hires going to work out because the one thing that he is not Freddie kitchens from what I've been told that everybody knows him. What he definitely comes across as as a person one thing that he is not is a political animal like every other person in your piece, you know, he's just a football coach who. Who played you know, who played football Alabama, and who just wants to coach football and talk football. And that's it. And I think Baker response to that. And if Dorsey provides the right groceries and allowed to do it may maybe the Browns finally have it right here. There's two things number one is obviously, you know, did Jimmy house hire the right guy in John Dorsey pretty kitchen, and will they end up being good together. And we'll kitchen to be a good coach, you know. So there's the onfield product and the continuity and staying ahead of the curve and staying ahead of defenses at allowing Baker to flourish. And then there's the other thing which is when you have a team that so star for a franchise quarterback finally gets one, and that guy almost ends up having more power than maybe he should. And you know, you saw that in Washington where you know, RG three became a favorite of Dan Snyder, and that served Beckett is under by the coaches..

"So I gotta say we think I briefly touched on it. So after the Cowboys lost to the Rams on Saturday Monday. Jason Garrett came out and said, yeah, I don't need dissipate. Any major coaching changes. Friday, Jerry Jones fired the offensive coordinator. Scotland a fired I to me that is not good. So there's three layers to this number one is all the best OC candidates are gone. We briefly touched on this in the first hour talk with Albert breer. Anybody who's desirable? Off the market by Friday. Now, you could go for a guy like Ken Whisenhunt who's been around the block Todd Haley, you know, there are other options like that. But you're not gonna get a more key option here. You're not going to get a number one. I don't see why Jerry Jones waited until Friday. Now if you pull the trigger Monday right after the game. Maybe you know, one of these guys that didn't go. Didn't get snatched up on Monday Tuesday Wednesday. Thursday is available. Small chance of that. So number two Dak Prescott has played three seasons. He's in line. For a big big payday. And when I look at the continuity needed for success in this league, you can't be changing coordinators on offense. Like it. Change your socks. I don't really understand why you'd give Dax three years Scotland a hand, and then all of a sudden fire Lenihan and have a new guy come in with a new system new playbook. You knew everything like why would you do that? You're essentially you're going to have to pay a ton of money. And you're also starting him over unless you're just gonna promote a tight end coach or or something like that in which case like why Firoz see I don't understand what Jerry Jones is doing here. To me. It doesn't make sense. I'm not saying I love Linda ham. I'm not saying let hands a superstar. I don't think he's the reason they lost..

"But then got rubbed out by Jacksonville at home and first playoff game. So did they haven't been to a Super Bowl now and ten years, and it's the they have the talent to to be doing that kind of thing. They've only won three playoff game since then, you know, in reading your article this morning, and you know, you talking about how Rooney has said. That they're committed to a contract extension with Ben Rothlisberger and not so much. Mike Tomlin head coach yet. Like, how does that scenario play out? Is it ownership choosing quarterback over coach? Or is it they are thinking extension. But right now take care of the quarterback. I before they can think about Mike Tomlin in the future. Yeah. I think the ladder Kirk they have to get they wanna get the players done. I Ben is do a five million roster bonus in March and by doing a new contract, they could fold that into a signing bonus. And listen the the pain on the cap this year. So that that that would be one priority. They they have a while many times they've announced coaching extensions in training camp. So they have time. There aren't did not say he won't do an extension say it was going to do on either. But you know, I'm sure they wanna sit down and talk. Hey, I'm I'm betting that Mike is gonna wanna raise on a new contract. And they might have it issue there. I don't know how much it would be, you know, an internally within the coaching staff. So we've seen guys leave whether it's. Now, we see Mike munch taking job over in Denver. We know Todd Haley left the organization as offensive coordinator, he goes and takes job. Elsewhere. And then also to the comments of Bruce Arians who's now the head coach and Tampa talking about Intel Brown diva wide receiver has there been a fraction within the coaching staff. And I forgot about the Joey porter coach would not be back next year. How was Tomlin looking at his staff now. Yeah. I think when when Todd was here he has kind of personality that there may have been some kind of you know, fracture there if you will with some of the coaches, even though he did a good job coaching here. But now, you know, Mike munch is a separate case he left because his daughter and granddaughter are in Denver. And they said it was the only job he would've taken. And I believe him. He's fifty eight going on fifty nine and he said there's more to life than you know, basically football. But I don't think it's abnormal. They've made changes. The Bruce Arians won a number of years ago was art Rooney made that change did not renew his contract. Todd Haley same thing contract wasn't renewed. But I mean, you have coaching changes all. Time on all teams. I don't think it's been a normal there. He's ambush of the Pittsburgh post gazette joining the rich Eisen show Kirk Morrison infrared, but has has Mike Tomlin maybe lost the locker room a little bit. And depending on how they handle the Tonio Brown. Could he maybe regain that locker room if he's lost it? Well, he lost Antonio Brown. I don't think he really lost the rest of the locker room. I think they respect him. And I think he's a good coach. But the Antonio Brown thing has just gotten bigger than anything, and he's been a burn his. But for a while recall that Facebook live video than Enron Brown did in the locker room. I'm surprising. Welcome back after that one. But it was such a good player is such a good player that you have to weigh one against the other. You know, just looking read. Another story on him today. That's unbelievable..

New York Jets finalizing deal to hire Gregg Williams as defensive coordinator

"New York Jets have a new defensive coordinator. His name is Greg Williams. Excuse me. Former defensive coordinator. For the Cleveland Browns who took over as interim head coach once Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley, the offense coordinator in Cleveland were relieved of their duties actually thought he did a damn good job and was worthy of headstrong head coaching consideration. But they decided to give it to Freddie, Cureton because he's got a good relationship with Baker Mayfield a number one overall pick and that is that. Nevertheless, no matter which way, you slice it. It's going to be interesting to see how Adam gays. Bob's with Greg Williams. But I think that Greg Williams bountygate and all is a big time defensive coordinator that infuses the kinda right attitude, certainly not going to have tolerance for softies. I think that will work very very well with somebody like Jamal Adams. And I think the jets are moving in a different direction in a forward direction because of it.

"Amazing to say Cleveland Browns are ready to win now. Like if you say next season, they go thirteen and three I would not be surprised. The browns. Yeah. I would be shocked if they went thirteen three I wouldn't be. I think they're that. Good. They're good. But they still need to be coached. Well, like, you can't just be good in the NFL. I need to see that your team actually is on the right track in terms of leadership saying they needed a head coach with like because you Jackson Jackson tink that team. Right. He's. So what if Freddie kitchens, Hugh Jackson? Well, that's why that's why saying like why if they win with a high caliber coach that's well respected. I don't like Mike McCarthy. But I think if they had Mike McCarthy they would be a nine or ten one team. But lease with this with kitchens, he doesn't have he doesn't have any background in head coaching. He doesn't have a single. He was barely coordinator. What was he mainly before? He was even a coordinator offensive was the quarterback coach. Yes. See that's that's why he's that coach. It's for Baker mayfield's best interest. I'm gonna guarantee they talked to Baker Mayfield said do you want? Do you like this guy? Do you want him as right coach? He's kind of putting buying beer. There is a report that they offered the job to Mike McCarthy. But he said, no because the Browns said that pretty kitchens would be your offense acquitted, and he said, no, I'm picking my own. And he said and then the Browns like, Nope. See that's the problem when I don't like how the Browns are set up organizationally speaking like they have too many people making decisions that the head coach. I think should have a say over. What are you gonna do? I mean like Hugh Jackson. He didn't pick. What was their offense coordinator last year Haley, he didn't pick? Todd Haley dot Healy was he was trying to destroy that team from within thing. Huge ex had no say over Todd Haley Todd Haley comes in and pretty much tries to go against to Jackson. So it's like who's the coach like who's the leader of your organization? You know? If your head coach can't coach and be the leader of the Lisa coaching staff. What does his job, right? Yeah. And I just have a problem with how the Browns are set up. They have great young talent. Don't get me wrong. They have a lot of good players that are young. But in football, more than any other sport leadership is key. Like in basketball. Give me the best five players. I don't need a coach. Coaching is really limited like baseball. Yes. You need a manager too. Make some interesting veto. I dunno pinch hitters and bullpen stuff. Like that. But in football. That's where it is. There's a lot of game planning in football. There's a lot more in that sport. And there has to be one guy leading the team. And if you don't have a good leader in the NFL. I don't think you have a chance. Yeah. And who knows like we ever like McVeigh, for example, you never had headed coaching experience before the Rams and now look at that. Yeah. You never know. It doesn't mean that the guy. Freddie kitchens. Can't be agree. Head coach. There's no question about it. But there are doubts. It makes you wonder at absolutely. And if that's true. And that's a rumor that Mike McCarthy said no to the Browns because they told they mandated that Freddie kitchens the offense coordinator if that's true. Then I have a problem with that putting your offense coordinator over your head coach. Yeah. I have a problem with you tilling, any perspective head coaches like we would like to have you. But we're going to have him because that tells me that you're more loyal to him than me. And I'm you're asking me to be his boss, by the way. This wasn't even the quarterbacks coach this is the running backs coach. Yeah. I know that he's a former NFL let let me let me this. This newly wasn't. He wasn't former player he was not a foreign player. He played in college, non NFL Kacha. He played it Alabama, actually. But here's here's his resume as a coach Glenville state running backs coach and tight ends coach LSU graduate assistant North Texas running backs coach Mississippi State tight ends coach. And then he became the running backs coach the next season. Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach Arizona Cardinals from oh.

Three NFL Teams Hire Head Coaches

"Gays who'd been the dolphins head coach the last three years made the playoffs once and gets fired after back to back losing seasons. The Browns also have a coach they promote Freddie kitchens to the head job. He became the Browns offensive coordinator this year after the firings of Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley, and candidly, they were just great after he took over the offense and the Broncos higher Vic Fangio the only coaching higher. So far this cycle with a defensive background nineteen years as an NFL defensive coordinator, the last four very highly regarded in Chicago putting together that defense, and of course, Adam Schefter is still working the phone here because we have all their moves other dominoes that are still

"The worldwide leader in sports, Chris Mortensen, the more report reporting that the Cleveland Browns later on today will name Freddie, kitchens their new head coach in the state of Ohio that the man who was. The running backs coach. Okay. The man was also this it really is amazing guy. Never the guy would never coordinated a play called a play his entire career as a professional. As a professional. Coach the the he was the quarterback coach last year the running backs coach became elevated after kitchens became the offensive coordinator. But the guy would never call the play live in the NFL until the fourth preseason game last year. Is now going to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. And there's two ways of looking at it. There's two ways of looking at it one is that they kind of thought what they had in him, which is a Bruce Arians acolyte. That got brought over to the team. And this Bruce Arians acolyte that John Dorsey saw something in said, hey, you know, what let's just kick the tires a little bit here and give him the shot to call plays in our forth preseason game. And they did. And then when Hugh Jackson finally as we all know was sent packing. And. We were all wondering what that meant for the offense. Certainly since we thought Todd Haley would be the amid the immediate offensive the new head coach and they bounced him too. And they elevate Freddie kitchens to the role. And then all of a sudden Baker Mayfield becomes the guy that they drafted first overall hoping to be the game changer.

"On the fan across the country on CBS sports network. So it's starting to happen. These jobs are filling up in teams don't want to wait around too long because the support staff if you will the coaching staff of these teams refilled out as well and the more jobs to fill up, the more assistant coaches that goes somewhere else, and that's something that the jets to keep an eye on. So you've got the Broncos deciding on Fangio or Mike Mon check that'd be really awkward. If Mike Montek was in John Elway's house when Vic Fangio was hired. And then he had to get all his crap and left, and I would be really really awkward, but I would imagine it Mike munch exits. He's hanging out of John Elway's house probably gonna get that job. That's just a guess. Then you got the Browns the Browns are in the mix, and they want either Freddie kitchens, which they need to have him on the head coach or whatever. So Freddie kitchens who was the guy who was elevated dolphins of coordinator actor Todd Haley, and you Jackson were fired and Baker Mayfield had a great relationship with him. It seems like he is the guy in Cleveland or Kev. Stefanski who was the Vikings quarterback coach then offensive coordinator after they got rid of what's his face. John D Filipa what happens to Greg Williams? I don't know. But I'll tell you a place that I think it'd be awesome for him to be at. You'd have all these great personalities in one building. And that would be Arizona if he doesn't stay in Cleveland now, I don't know maybe him, Freddie, kitchens after that run. And they went on developed this great relationship and Freddie kitchens head coach, even though it's sort of awkward because Williams was the interbred coach and kitchens was assistant, but flip a little awkward, but maybe he keeps them there. But if he doesn't then there's your NFL defensive coordinator that cliff Kingsbury needs for credibility on that defense out in Arizona. That would be that would be the one for me. I don't know. I mean that that would make a lot of sense because he needs to hire a guy like that. So you got those two names in Denver. Those two names in Cleveland. It seems like Adam gays Mike McCarthy Matt rule. I mean, what do you think if you had to breakdown? The three finalists those the three finalists for the jets. Are you put tot monk it in there as monkey we even know? I mean seriously is it more than three finalists at four finalists. I mean, I don't know. I. Whittled it down to two names if I had to guess right now is mean that Harbaugh's not coming available down in Baltimore. I would think that it would be gay McCarthy. That's what I would think. I would think that they would want to hire somebody that has some head coaching chops in the NFL and understands how the league works. You get that and the youth with Adam gays, but also you get the percolate personality, of course. But with Mike McCarthy, you get the history, you get the experience, you get a guy that has done it for thirteen years who has been a part of a winning franchise and a legacy franchise and as worked well with the front office hasn't always been great, but he's been oil guy. So there's there's a lot of collect there too. So I know it's probably I would think going to be one of those guys unless they decided to go down the coordinator route again, do you remember the Adam gay sound it might have been ceelo that was in that day? But he was talking to someone was asked about Ryan tannehill. And he goes I'm sick of talking about this guy. Yes. That's but that's what I'm talking about. That's quarterback this guy. Right. I only call someone this guy in a derogatory look at this guy. I mean, are you kidding me with this guy? I mean, that's the type of guy you're getting an atom Gheysens sick of talking about this a little bit of like the impatience that I keep talking about that. I have I get a hit a little impatient. With guys guys that are hurt. Right. Right. Right. Like, you guys are a fluctuating down Aspen and Carmelo. Yes. Exactly. I can't handle by Bennie. But I just can't handle some of those personalities because I would want to be direct conflict with them. I mean, that's what happened with Todd Haley and Ben Rothlisberger. Ben Rothlisberger was being challenged by Todd Haley, and then guess what they acquiesced to Big Ben and said, okay, you're the man you run the team, which is essentially what's going on in Pittsburgh. And I think that there's a lot of I think there are a number of his teammates that really do not like the cart Balon show, if you would call it that that Ben Rothlisberger has oh it sounds like Green Bay a little bit too. But yeah, Todd Haley, though, I mean goes to Cleveland doesn't even make it through the season. So he was he was challenging you Jackson. Yeah. And then all of a sudden if you're challenging you Jackson the head coach at creates a dysfunction get rid of both of them. I mean, so I'm thinking about Adam gates and why he would be so annoyed with tannehill. I mean, probably because tannehill goes down. It's hurt. He's got to go through. Right. But I mean think about the frustrations he then he gets her at the beginning of the twenty seven. Seventeen season. And then he's got to go out and get Jay Cutler out of the FOX booth then Cutler goes down, and then you gotta play Matt Moore. And then tannahill is out. Then he's got Brock Osweiler in there that people are just answering about tannehill Tanna Tanna L. And he goes, I would tell you given all that crap that went home with him and his quarterback position that he was pretty successful. Yeah. I know I know the I mean, you you told me before that that he got into an argument with the owner. I mean, that's a little. Christopher johnson. He's saying do I want to hire a guy who's going to be fighting with me? I don't know. I think that you'll you'll learn you always learn you move on. And you learn and you gotta figure out how to make this thing work. And I think there has to be a lie. If you as a coach is going are going to be asking your players to be selfless unselfish and committed to one another. Then I think, you know, as the coach you have to be that way with the people that you work with not only on your staff, but in the front offices about the business side and the football side. And of course, the owner you have to be willing to make it work. Yeah. I mean, if I'm hiring the best guy for Sam darnold, and I watched that press conference were Adam gates said I'm sick and tired of answering questions about that. I mean is that the right guy for Sam darnold on? I know. But I kinda I kinda like I kinda like the prickly nature. You know, I do because I think he is going to hold people accountable. But at the end of the day jet fans may not be happy with that. Let's go to j Philly. Jay, what's happening brother AJ, Bloomberg? What's going on? Jay, how old are you? I'm thirty three. Okay. So what's happening? You guys are driving me crazy with this dot Jovan, Ingo and fireman. Ed represented jet fans 'cause they don't okay. These guys have dinosaur while they represent the older jet fan. Jay there are older jet fan. Just like they're younger jet fans. And we also had a guy from rob from Smithtown call who was a seventy seven year old jet fans. So you can't dismiss are you dismissing the older people in our lives j I shot, boomer. I'm not okay. But we're playing football in two thousand nineteen. Okay. And this idea that we gotta have an established guy Mike McCarthy. And Adam Dave you guys both got let go because their players didn't like him anymore. Okay. They were failing. And now we want to go with these guys. I mean, the firemen had lost all credibility with me when he said he liked Mike McCann, Mike McKay. Good GS. I mean, the jets. A chance to make a choice here. That's forward thinking and doing this. Well. Ridiculous. Jay, you're in Philly. I'm going to give you an example from Philadelphia. Right. So Andy Reid. Well, Andy Reid moves on from there for what young innovate younger innovative guy'd, turn the NFL on its ear and chip Kelly. Chip Kelly goes in their blows that thing up to the point where it's like, no one knows what the hell's going on. And then they hire a guy over Andy Reid staff. Philadelphia that they had they had Bill. And then this guy goes in and wins the Super Bowl is going back in the playoffs. So I mean, sometimes the the young creative offensive. I'm gonna change anything guide as a workout. But I don't want to who. Do you want though? I want Matt rule I want. He's one of the cliches being thrown out there at right now is we got we need a CEO type. This guy's a program builder. He wanted temple temple. He went down to Baylor. Over a terrible situation won seven games in the ball game with them last year. That's the guy's a college coach at one year as an assistant in the NFL. He's a college coach in the history of the college coach doesn't always work out. So I mean, that's the thing. You gotta be you. Gotta be worried about that. I don't know retreads doesn't work out. It's not necessarily not necessarily say whoever gets his job. It's gonna work out you want to know why. Because they have finally a freaking quarterback. They take a build a team around. That's why they need. GM who can put pieces around him out while they then they're going to have ninety million dollars in free agency money to spend. And they're going to have a high draft pick the second of Joe beningo the dinosaur. Joe's guy called you a dinosaur garbage garbage talking. What am I stick a source? What am I here? What.

And it did finally on Monday when the Browns released Hugh Jackson with time left on his contract this season and next season. So the Browns will be paying him through two thousand nineteen but it will give John Dorsey and Alonzo Highsmith and Elliott Wolff in the Browns for an office the chance to go hire their own head coach, they are I in the pool this year. They get the start looking for an interviewing coaching candidates right now, if they want to go talk to Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma taking go do that. If they want to go talk to any other college coach, they can go do that. They don't have to hide behind anything right now. The Browns are the first out for a coaching search. And then of course, they make the change in offense coordinator firing Todd Haley and bringing in Freddie kitchens who doesn't have extensive experience running an NFL offense. So it'll be interesting to see how kitchens calls play. Days starting Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. And so the Cleveland Browns the first team to overhaul their coaching staff, but the real changes came Tuesday with a flurry of moves that made this one of the busiest trade deadline days in NFL history. Last year was very busy. Because at the last moment in the twenty four hours leading up to the deadline. We saw Jimmy Garoppolo traded from New England to San Francisco j Gye traded from Miami to Philadelphia Dwayne Brown from Houston to Seattle. Marcel Darius from buffalo to Jacksonville and Kelvin Benjamin going from Carolina to buffalo end the almost trade of AJ McCarron from Cincinnati to Cleveland, the got foiled when the Browns could not get the deal done in time by the four o'clock deadline by the four o'clock deadline this year. There was no such thing. Holding back a flurry of moves. We saw de. Ver- trade Pro Bowl wide receiver. Damaris Thomas and a seventh round pick to the Houston. Texans for a fourth and seventh round pick. As will the interesting part of that trade is that Thomas is first game with the Texans will come Sunday in Denver against the Broncos team. That just traded him. Thomas was the longest tenure Bronco and get the Broncos say goodbye to him because really they weren't going to keep his fourteen million dollars salary around next season in my mind. The most surprising move right before the deadline. Came win Detroit traded golden Tate to Philadelphia for a third round pick. So many teams had made so many inquiries to the lions about golden Tate. But they had resisted all overtures for him. But finally, they broke down and dealt Tate to the eagles who for the second straight year made a trade right at the deadline last year Gye this year Tate, as they look to try to keep up with the rest of the NFC east another team in the NFC making.

"Kay, Cabot very legitimate. NFL? Reporter is saying that defensive coordinator. Greg Williams will be the Cleveland Browns interim head coach I don't know if that's the best for Baker Mayfield. He just lost to veteran. Offensive minds. Todd Haley has been wacked Hugh Jackson's been whacked. I don't love that for Baker going forward. They'll probably I guess get very very conservative. Good luck. Their schedule gets really really

Cleveland Browns: Is the defense getting too close to Baker Mayfield?

"Are getting hot in Cleveland. Here's a story for you. Seize the team gets ready for their second preseason game against the bills. Baker Mayfield has been the center of drama this week. The Browns coordinators got testing practice yesterday over this one Browns reporter tweeted this out, Todd Haley, upset with the defense getting too close to Baker Mayfield said, quote, good teams don't touch the bleep in quarterback to which Greg Williams responded will block them, then artsy see, is this a big deal? Which side are you on here? No, I don't have to be on the side. This is info football. A lot of times now, because Cleveland, they have the microphones. They have the cameras there. And then I'm just going to tell you in recent weeks. I haven't talked about a team that won one game until. More than I've talked about the Brown. So I guess that's that's a positive thing. But these are normal things in practice. The defense, they have an agenda. They have a call sheet. They have the defense they're going to run and they're going to run blitzes the offense. They have a call. She, the plays, the protections, and all those protections call for a guy to block almost every guy on the defense when people don't do their job, coaches, yell at players. Both of these coaches are right. You are not going to be a good team by hitting your quarterback in practice. Every team that knows this from high school where we put them in jerseys there in jersey, for reason that guy's value to the team. It can't be replaced and you have to learn as young football team white Cleveland. You have to learn how to practice, right, and I don't care bakers, rookie. Learn how to practice because of the game has changed. You have to learn how to practice in short. You have to learn how. To be competitive, but not combative. You have to learn how to get guys better and learn how to not guys down and Bill to help guys up and not worry about how looks because there are certain things you just cannot do on the football field in practice that because you're trying to get ready for the game like you don't take certain angles once you have a lime in if I've drive all the way back up by your Nick, I'll take my hand down. I'm put it more on your breastplate, right?

"That's what Randy Fitch, news the new offensive coordinator. Former quarterbacks coach or, quarterbacks coach for Ben Rothlisberger new OC says that Quote. I would say it's the best camp he's had the only, reason, I say, this is because he's in the best shape since I've had. Him now obviously when you're younger you can probably move a little bit better maybe your arm, of tad livelier if nothing else there's. A, pitch count you do that with all the pitchers, Rothlisberger has got a, great gig we always he basically. Has the Howard Stern of gigs right Howard Stern does three days a week for a show twenty, weeks out of the, year has how, does that work that's, amazing how do I get that gets, twenty five years on the radio and you'll get that, Rothlisberger only gonna play one preseason game has does a. Full day of practice and, a half day at, practice than a day off like how do you. Get that that's amazing Meanwhile he's, got? Like three backup quarterbacks they're all fighting for fighting for that backup position Mason Rudolph Landry Jones and Josh dots at? Tennessee could. Actually looks really good so far in the
