"Yeah, welcome back. Second half the show. We're live in Nashville. This will be state. Possibly punching a ticket to the tournament today with a big win in over for time against a gutty Florida team that the team really looked good under its new coach, Todd golden. We are here in the number of guests will drop by, including Sean farm. I want to go back to the list by Bruce Feldman. He and mandel both put out listen. I realized these things are subjective and I also realized it's early March. But Nick Saban and Kirby smart. There's a big debate. Who is the best coach in college football today? The Sabin get it because he's the goat or is this a legitimate snapshot? Dabo Sweeney three. A lot of people raise their eyebrows on that for I asked this question. You can answer it any time you want. How in the world is James Franklin the 5th best coach in America? It's just a question. Ryan day is number 6. He's already been to what three college football playoffs in three years, including a national championship game. Lincoln Riley is 7th Brian Kelly at 8 winningham at Utah and Lance Leopold who quite frankly emerged last year. We'll continue with this list. And get reaction in just a moment. Fickle at 11. Clawson he's at wake forest for those of you who don't follow the ACC. Kleiman, who's been really good at K state chip Kelly. Chip Kelly is 14. He nearly got fired this year. Bruce, are you at West Coast bias? It's a question. You can answer it. Matt rule who failed in the NFL. He starts off his career in Nebraska 15. Jimbo at 17, he was a top 5 coach last year. Did he deserve to drop to 17 or does he even deserve to be in the top 20? That is a question. Mark stoops.

"We're talking about Devin Leary who starting the most recent season was considered he was at NC state. He was considered one of the better quarterbacks in the country and then he got hurt and the whole season came undone. So I think with Cohen, he's got a chance to be at that level. I mean, we'll leverage right now he's considered one of the best prospect. The schedule is really complimentary. I don't think you could it's quite frankly when you look at ball state eastern Kentucky in Akron. I mean, that's one of the most inauspicious beginnings I've ever seen at Vanderbilt is your first real test and then Florida, Georgia. I mean, Kentucky's got a chance to get really a really fast start. You know, they do have Alabama. In November, that is a really intriguing game. It comes in a bad time for Alabama. Not a great time for Kentucky either after Tennessee and Mississippi but it's a really, I don't like the beginning of that schedule because it's just hard to maintain a lot of momentum. However, I do think it does set up well for a new quarterback making his first trip around the SEC. Ryan is up next in Illinois. Hey Ryan, hey, Paul, first time caller. I just had a few questions about Alabama basketball. Sure. I just wondering for the semifinals that Alabama's going to probably be up against Tennessee. I was wondering, do you think they have to be Tennessee to get in the tournament? Well, I think what Alabama is facing this week more than anything is the number one seat overall. I don't think they can get that right now. I think that may have slipped away the other day, but you win three games here and somebody else Houston, UCLA, you see, you know, who knows what's going to happen during conference tournaments, but I think Alabama is pretty well guaranteed a number one seed. They'll play next week and Thursday and Saturday in Birmingham, which is a tremendous advantage for them. Darren is up next in Missouri, hello, Darren. My question is, I'm Missouri. Do you think they are going to get hurt from the double by? Or that's going to help them, which is a streaky. You know, you don't know who's going to show up. It's a good question. But I think when you're Missouri, not to extoll any more preys on getting escapes and he's already gotten, but he deserves it all. I mean, that's such an amazing accomplishment when you consider how chaotic this program has been in recent years. Thank you very much for the call. Mark is up next in Tuscaloosa, hey mark. Hey, Paul, how you doing today? We're doing great. Thank you. Hey, you remember, since you're a Nashville, you remember country boy Eddie used to do a little something like this here and call. Oh, sure. Yeah, no, I remember any well. Well, hey, I wonder if you don't mind, I want to do a little trip to the woman that died and took to lose and to, you know, you're right there in Nashville and country music and this won't take just a second and I think it'll mean a lot to the people of your show. That's okay. Give it a shot. Okay, thank you, sir. No, that was memorable. Dan is up next. Hey Dan, go right ahead. Thanks, bob. Don't even know what this possible you can even go there, but I think Brian Kelly has got into Nick Saban's head. I really do. You know, I didn't. I think it started with when he was out. Coach. In the last ball game without you and Alabama. And it goes to the other coaches, you know? They replaced their coaches. That's hard for me to, I mean, I appreciate your sentiments. We've been hit three hours another hour to go. We are live in Nashville. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. "Couple of days. Your success. Thank you so much. From Missouri state as we head to the break, we'll be back in Nashville right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. 50 minutes will preview the games a little bit later on. And your phone calls at 855-242-7285. A myth is up next in Kentucky. Hey miss good afternoon. Hey, man. How you can hear me, Paul? Yes, I can. Thank you. Yeah, I have a question. Obviously, I'm a big UK fan. I've always been a big UK fan growing up. How do you think they're going to fare in the tournament SEC tournament and through this? NCAA tournament. I'm pretty upbeat. In fact, it was funny during the break. I had a chance to run into Matt Matt Jones from up there who hosts a show statewide and he felt pretty good as well. I think Kentucky's just playing at a high rhythm right now that you always have to be a little nervous and a tournament because one thing Kentucky has not been is consistent. They have played consistently better than they were in January, but I think it was Damian fishback who said earlier or somebody, the injury situation, the health of the team is not great. Yeah, I think that's one thing that worries me as well. I'm not sure about the case

"See it, it scrolls across each and every day. My advice has been to the team for weeks now that it's out of our control. That part is. But we've been in position to control our own destiny. And that's what we kept talking about the last four or 5 games is this is where you want to be to play meaningful games down the stretch where every game means something and certainly with the situation we're in every game. It felt like game 7 for quite some time and hopefully that's going to help us tomorrow night, but we're well aware of where we sit and where we stand and again the bottom line is we control, I think our final destination. Yeah, I think the better question to a coach is you can deal with it, but you can't tell your players not to pay attention because they are going to pay attention. Are they not? Yeah, for sure. I mean, what I've told them is don't get caught up in it. Don't be spending hours on it. We're human. I don't expect you not to notice it just like I said, but at the same time, you know, we need to focus on what's important and that's us and our preparation and our practice and obviously how we play the game. And, you know, I'm not around them 24/7, but the vibe that I get is there in a good place that way. So back to the back to the elephant in the arena here. Clearly tomorrow night's big, you win, but do you feel like there's a number or do you feel like, I mean, do you have any sense of where you really are versus where you're projected? The only people that really know are the people that are going to be in the room. Right. Right. I mean, that's the deal. There's tons of projections. There's tons of if you get into the nitty Gritty of percentages if you win one game or two games or zero games at this point in the season, I think that's just a

"Look at it. I will. I guess he was a man. I guess at the BBC. At the time. Oh yeah. For sure. And he says there was the tornado warning issue from the stevia Birmingham and he said it literally could have took the lives of 77,000 people because there wasn't any way of getting the word to the people at the stadium. And he said the tornado literally comes right over the state, the developing tornado came over the stadium. But it later formed into a big tornado just a couple of miles later, which hit the eastern part of the state. And yeah, no, I'll definitely check that out. Hey, thank you so much, Chris. What are memory? And so what 40 almost 40 years ago? And I remember I remember the PA announcer Simpson pepper making that announcement. We'll take a short break. Yeah, as I was walking up to the set, that's what I was thinking about, that my only interview that I've had with the famous Paul finebaum was in starkville and that fall day and I remember telling you before we went on air like, hey, I'd rather not follow coach leech anymore. "Hey, Chris. Thank you. Yes, sir. I just wanted to call in. You had an episode back in January, sir, where you talked about coach coach brown's deer were a lot of fans called in with their memory of coach coach grant and whatever special memory that they had and I didn't get a chance to call in at that particular time, but my father, he took me to my first Alabama game in 1978 at legion field against LSU. And I was ten years old and thought I was on top of the world as my first game. Yesterday was the anniversary of my father's death. 13 years ago and he then sent me to my first iron bowl, 1981. 315th game. And I had a special relationship with my father. He joined military services and then he was a football basketball official for about 20 years and worked hard to provide for his family, especially during the holidays. And. He took me to several iron bowls and that has just become my favorite time of the year. I think a lot of people that are probably in their mid 50s like I am or older, they would probably be willing to say that a lot of the iron balls in the 80s were probably some of the greatest iron Bros played. The 81 82 in I know the 83 are involved known as the tornado some iron bowl. Yeah. Well, I mean, listen, you keep going. I mean, 83, 84, 85, 86. There's never been a better stretch of games in my career. Every one of those games was epic. And I'll say this before, I hang up the 83 game, I keep just thinking about and I did research on it. We were at that 83 game, and a lot of people refer to it as the 2019 game for a reason. The bad storm came up. We were sitting in the north end zone facing the south. Yeah, but by the way, Chris, there was literally a tornado warning in the vicinity. They announced it. Now today, the whole stadium would have evacuated. You could not have played a game, the whole place would have cleared out, but I'll never forget. I looked around. I was in the press box. I never saw a single person leave that game. And it was the most incredible thing because when the public address announcer made the announcement,

Hey, Paul. Thanks for taking my call. Thank you. Good afternoon. Hey, Paula. Now I'm Alabama fan, but I live here in Tennessee. About 30 miles from Thompson bowling. And we had a great time at constable and arena. I was just happy to see a top ten game for the first time in my entire life between the two teams. And but there was something that bothered me while I was at the game, the fans started chanting FU Bama, just over and over and over again. And they finally, they came on and addressed it and said, you know, no profanity was allowed. And it just kept going on. And, you know, I turned to a guy that was behind me, he was from Tuscaloosa and I said, hey, do we do this to our fans and colon coliseum? And he goes, sadly enough, yes. And I thought, well, what about all the people that are there that have all their children with them? Is that something

Hey Paul, how old is coach golden looking first? And I know on TV looks kind of like a red shirt sophomore, but does he look that young in person? You know, I tried not to make say that because I have a feeling other people have. But yeah, I mean, he looked like he might be the graduate assistant when you're out of school. It looks like it on TV. Look, I just wanted to call real quick. I tuned in late yesterday and called legends hit on the sets and I like legend. I think he's very entertaining. But I thought it was just funny why he beat up on sets and I mean, knocked them off the mountain? Correct. I mean, legend apparently is forgotten that fourth quarter. All right, I mean, shouldn't they be talking about how good he was? I mean, about how a walk on dethroned Bama. I just thought it was kind of funny. How they just can not get the sets and things, especially legend out of his mind, but Paul, most of us dog fans, we just can not wait for next December. Maybe that third, fourth day, I don't know what the FTC championship is, but that Kirby can turn them loose and

"Because everyone and we do a talk show where everybody thinks they know what the NIL is meant to every sport. How do you navigate that and how different I realize you're in basketball, we talk you hear anion on football on a constant basis. What is it like doing in that space right now? It's challenging. You know, I think all the unknowns is what makes it challenging. There's no, there's no governors on this market. It's an unregulated market. There's a lot of different ways to look at it. And we as coaches can procure these deals for these young men. So that makes it really, really challenging because it's an important piece in the recruiting process. For a lot of these student athletes that are figuring out where they want to go. So my message to my staff is to try to just educate ourselves as best as we can, be resources for the student athletes through the recruiting process. Grateful to be at a place like Florida where Gainesville is a great market, a place that really wants to support their student athletes when given the opportunity. And we're just going to try to be ahead of it the best we can. And hopefully over the next year or two, there is a little more regulation. So we have a little more information when trying to make these pretty important decisions. I won't ask you, I will ask you to hold your breath on the regulation. Trust me, I know. But I can't tell you how much fun this has been to get a chance to let you meet a few more people. I know you've done this many, many times since landing in Florida, but we've enjoyed saying hello and hopefully a long stay here at Nashville. I appreciate you having me on and it's great to meet you in person, my man. Thank you very much. Scott golden. No longer the new coach, but I'm going to keep saying that at least until this tournament is over at the university of Florida. We'll take a short break. We're back to Nashville after this. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Hey, we're back at Nashville as inching closer to the official beginning of the SEC tournament a couple of news items to pass along. Jim behaim, 47 years as Syracuse's head coach, a national championship and numerous final fours. In constant bickering with the media is over, dis announced that he has gone and will finally retire. "The absolute success. And I know that it's been a while since this program went back to back national championships. That's still pretty amazing. Absolutely. When you think about it, they seem pretty happy right now with the way the direction of the program is going, but the expectations are going to be through the roof. You know, that fallen before you go. Talk about approaching the job and dealing with what is expected in Gainesville. Yeah, no, it's all valid, what you're talking about. There's a lot of high expectations in Gainesville at Florida. I understand that, you know, what coach Donovan was able to do in his time there was incredible. He really just raised the level at the program and obviously sustained it for significant period of time with the back to back national championships, but that runny had on the back end was pretty special too with Patrick young and all those guys getting to final fours and just competing. And so that pressure is a privilege is the way I look at it and obviously we had a great year at San Francisco last year it presented some opportunities for me and my family, but when Florida became an option and this was the one that I felt like we could win national championships here. And so as a coach, as a competitor, you want to put yourself in a situation where you can give yourself the best chance. And I thought Florida would do that and obviously I think we've done a good job building the foundation. We have some really good pieces that we're going to be able to continue to build off of. And I'm excited for the challenge. A lot of times coach Garland, when someone comes into the SEC, their mouths open, just in awe of all the places that you go, you've already been here. You've had that experience and an extremely high level is built as Bruce built a program that ultimately went to the final four. What was his first trek around the SEC like for you? Yeah, it was awesome. First of all, to your point, just a level of competitiveness on a night tonight basis is something that I don't think many are ready for or can prepare for before getting back into the league. We had some great teams in the WCC Gonzaga, obviously playing for national championships, saint Mary's BYU, some really competitive teams, but the depth and breadth of this league and the fact that if you don't have it on a given night, you're just going to get beat. There's no question about it. And the mental toughness that you have to exhibit to be consistent in this league, we finished 99 in the SEC and I'm telling you, it was a war just to get to that level. So it's a huge challenge. It's something that's going to keep you on your toes on a day to today basis. And something that if you're not prepared for, you're going to get kicked in the butt pretty hard. I would like to get your thoughts on recruiting right now

"Obviously for you, you win what four straight and before. You can call this Easter big success. Is there any way to approach a term or like this other than here's a game we'll worry about the next game after that? Yeah, no, I mean, one game at a time obviously for us. We got a long way to go to get where we want in terms of making the tournament now. With what's happening over the past couple of weeks. But with that being said, we beat this team a couple of weeks ago or a month or two ago. And if we get that one, then we get a crack at Alabama. Anything can happen. My first year as an assistant in this league back with Bruce, and here's first year, we were not very good. And we won three games in the SEC tournament before losing to Kentucky in the semifinals. So I've been a part of something where some crazy things have happened and we're hoping to do something similar this week. You mentioned Bruce and everyone's associate with various coaches throughout their career. Here certainly he certainly the one that we know the best. In the SEC, how did that relationship begin? You know what? I played with his son Steven on a USA macabre team, the Jewish Olympics, so to speak. And Bruce came out to our training camp back in 2006. I was a junior at saint Mary's college at the time. And that's when I first met him and then he coached me in 2009 when I was playing point guard for him on the USA macabre team in Israel. And that's really where our relationship really grew. And when he got back into auburn, he brought me down from Columbia. And it's been a pretty crazy 8 years since then. I know I'll probably be the last person to mention this because I'm sure others have but Columbia auburn is a rather strange Utah. You know, I had taken care of my high academic low major basketball wanted to go to the high major level. And then obviously being a San Francisco is kind of a great blend of both, but I've definitely been able to be do a couple different unique places over the course of my career. Yeah, upper Manhattan to Lee county. I don't think there's a direct flight from Laguardia. That's definitely not. Now Bruce had to pick me up in Atlanta and drive me down there. That's for sure. In terms of that relationship,

"Basketball tournament starts in under four hours. You're already hurt. It was not here last year. You may remember that. We were in Tampa where the sun was shining. And then of course I was here previous dad. So this is what it looks like. You have South Carolina and all this tonight. Georgia LSU and the winners move on. Tomorrow, the early game is, let's see. As far as Florida and Mississippi, then Tennessee gets the winner of South Carolina all miss and meanwhile, Brian Kelly wants a lot from Jayden Daniels. He's expecting a lot and we headline there how he's going to deal with it. Of course, we had rabbit lay on yesterday, so there's going to be a competition. We're just not sure how much of one there is. Sam Pittman wants to improve the secondary, got a dog to do it, and shaheem Singletary. He needs a big year. Will Rogers saying I can play in any system? We hear you, will. So what are we going to be doing the rest of the day? We've already had Rick Barnes. The Tennessee coach former Tennessee coach Bruce pearl will be with us in just a few minutes. Damian fishback. Eric musselman haven't talked to him in a while. Stackhouse will be here. His team is red hot. Todd golden ending his first year as Florida's head coach. Christians from Missouri state. And then our first chance to talk to Ron slay, we may need a little more time. We only have 30 minutes to allocate it for the first question. How about your phone calls here at 855-242-7285. We start with John in Louisville. Hey John. Hey, Paul, good afternoon. You're just up the road about a couple hours. I should grab Kenny Payne and come down visit. He's got nothing to do now. Yeah, by the way, I am closer to Louisville. I've already been offered that job because anyone can win four games, that's still hard for me to believe. It is shocking. He is a nice guy. I wish him well. But it takes a little heat off caliper, at least. I was going to talk to you about a list that came out on 24/7 sports by Brett Crawford on the top 35 football coaches for 2023. But first, I see what you're doing with that methodology on the predicted caller recology. Apparently you're putting in names there for proof of life or somewhat as a welfare check. You pulled jara, Jerome out of federal witness protection last night, I noticed yeah, I thought that was one of the more fascinating calls of the year Jerome, who essentially quit the show because he wasn't getting NIL money. Right now, I listen, the committee will start meeting here in Nashville, these are the projected one seeds legend Jim Larry and I'm Ann Dustin Elliott Todd and Chris, some of those are barely known to even the host of the show or the last four in the bubble watch. We had Louisiana Dan who may have moved off the bubble yesterday after his call. AJ with every call gets closer to never being back on the show again and the artist formerly known as Jeff from Columbus. AC from Canada was eliminated from it's a Department of State issue. They were simply will not allow him into the country. I use a terrorist. Thank God. And careful what you wish if Jeff calls him, by the way. So here's the list that Brad Crawford put out. I'm just going to go through it quickly and see if you have any thoughts. Obviously, it's expected Kirby Smith first. Nick Saban second, those are Kirby smart. Third is your favorite Jim Harbaugh. He's done quite well obviously with less talent. Then this one just stood out. That was Sweeney is number four. I don't see that. Brian Kelly, he's hot. He's number 5. Ryan day, he does well except against Michigan. Number 6, Lincoln rally 7 makes sense. Kyle willingham, I think he's great. He's 8. Luke fickle, number 9, I don't see that either. Then you get jazz hypo makes sense. James Franklin at 11, but he went in the top ten, I guess. Sonny dykes makes sense, link kiffin, yes. Here's the one that I have the list here on looking at it. Gee, Jimbo at 14 is fascinating. I know. Last year, Jimbo was really in everybody's top 5 list. Now, again, this is one person's opinion. And I'm not surprised, but I will say this, John, even though I'm looking at it for the first time. So the idea that somebody other than Nick Saban is number one, and I realize I've said a lot about that subject on different programs. It's still taking me some getting used to seeing that. I know. Well, it just says more about Kirby and by the way, Billy Napier number 30, that's not good. Pretty high, really. Laura, yeah. For you know, and I don't mean that, but I mean, building Napier, how else can you slice it? Had an underwhelming first year. I mean, it was a really bad year. And I think Mark Cristobal will improve from number 20. But guess who's missing out this list? The $10 million man up at east Lansing. He's not in the top 35. No, no. He had, he had a worse year than the Jimal fish. Yeah, again, I've already started my Jimbo Fisher for next year. I think he's going to bounce back significantly.

I wasn't worried about delivering you a chilled shrimp cocktail. You're like, you're like urban Meyer. You're demanding so much of me threatening me with being fired..

"You want to go through some of these coaching, hires. Let's do that. And we're going to grade them. We're going to do something nobody else does, rob. We are going to grade some of these cars. How strict of a greater do you think you are? I think you're going to be a lot stricter than I am. I'm holding you accountable, please. Like, I'm writing them down. And we're going to look in four years. When you're running away, you're holding on to that paper for four years. I'm going to put it up on my wall and keep it for four years. And when we'll see a field of 68 retains me. I mean, who knows? I might not be back next year. Well, it's a year by year deal. It's like an interim deal for you. Yeah, I know. I know. You still got to prove a little bit more. I mean, taking last week off. Why? That was not a smart move for your career path. I hope I get fired. I really hope that they just fire me. I don't know if your pocketbook, your wallet can handle that. That's true. All right, all right, let's start with the biggest one on the cycle. Well, let's start with Florida. Let's start with Florida and Todd golden, okay? So Todd golden comes over to Gainesville. Scott Strickland's the AD there. Former Kentucky SID Jacobs, the senior associate AD was the idea at auburn when Todd golden was they are working for Bruce pro for a couple of years. Todd's done a great job at San Francisco, got him in the tournament this year. 30, I don't know, how old he is. He's like your aides, rob. He's 33, 34. But he's that young. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. He's that young. He's that young. They hire him in Florida..

"I have all the same concerns you do in terms of shot selection, efficiency, everything, but I don't know. He's worth tracking is a definite potential second round guy. I want to see what it looks like more in the big east. Yeah. Absolutely. Jamari bouye at San Francisco bouille spin the wheel. Let's get down and find him. I love San Francisco. That's my first line. Head coach Todd golden is a stud. They are ten and O, bouille is also on his 5th season of college basketball and you know what? God bless him. Stay in college forever. Average 20 points per game, run pick and roll. He's great out of pick and roll. He's great catch and shoot. He goes off the bounce comfortably with both hands, very smooth as his left. Now he takes some wild ones. Take some wild shots, someone else step back here and there. He'll also be 23 on draft night. If he keeps shooting 55% of the field, 47 from three 80 from a free throw line, he's also going to get another long look. And I want this to be a cop out. This grouping is like really close for me. We gave each other a list of like 8 to ten names. There's no one that I feel like so much stronger about than the next name. Right now. What the tape we have from this season? All right, this is an interesting one. I didn't know if we were gonna start with this once we did kind of our JD Dave's intake. I like how he runs the team. He's also older. He's a 23 year old junior. I don't love the three turnovers of game. He does bounce it with about 6 assists. Gonzaga four turnovers, Houston three Memphis was 5. Despite those numbers and looking bad, he does have a pretty tight handle with the ball. Sometimes he makes bad decisions and you wish could have it back as soon as he said. Yeah. And can get you a bucket or two or at least a look late in the clock. When they're struggling, it's late in the shot clock. He gets the ball and pulls it out and he can beat his man and kick it, finish opposite with a little finger roll or jelly fam, if you will. I think there's a chance for him to kind of be a backup or play his way in through the G league, but with his age, match with he's currently 26% from three. It makes that 43% from him anomalous, the year before, but it's like kind of back to that 25% as a freshman. And if we're taking any teachings from the last draft, I think of the AVM Mitchell with him because davia Mitchell had that season the last season when he shot 40% and now people say, I don't know if that was really like reality or he just really shot the ball well and we're back to where he is. So I like, I also really like the story. A lot of people would have given up after the recruiting stuff and transfer from Villanova and just reinvented himself as a player. He took his medicine and now he's a leader on a team that just lost, but one of my favorite watches in the country right now too. Yeah, really appreciate NATO. It's really appreciate that coaching staff..

"Against a Merry 67 U. S. F. 63 is we are joined now by USF a head coach, Todd Golden coach. Look back your thoughts on this ball game. Obviously seat marries when a big in the first half and the second half you guys had a Couple opportunities. You cut it within one a couple times just could not quite get over the hump there. Yeah. You know what they play well in the first half, I think the little bit. They beat the game plan from the standpoint of their front court players who aren't aren't prolific shooters toss Foe to Bo, and we're you know, they had four threes in the first half. I think, therefore, for five combined, which which allow them to score 42 points. I think we get a couple better brakes that way. It's little tighter Halftime but Proud of the way our guys came out in the second half. I thought we competed really, really? Well, Tighten that thing up. Josh really stepped up, hit some big shots and, you know, we competed and defended really well, over the whole course of the second half. Obviously, it didn't make it three in the second half. We holding a 37% from the field. And a little bit of that was just a little bit of regression. You know, in the first half, they're hot. They're making everything. I think. Second half same type of defense. Same scheme and we're just a little tougher, Little Grady, you're getting to the ball. You know, helping to 38%. But you know, just not enough. I thought we did a poor job of the foul line. That's gonna that's gonna sting when Mr Front end of one on one. We were eight for 14 were good, free throw shooting team. And credit to them because they knock. There's down down the stretch. Go change. My Bouvier went over 1000 points for his career. I know he does it in the losing effort, but it's been a great career for JB here on the hilltop in Nice to see him hit that plateau at home. Yeah, absolutely. Just a great moment for a great player. You know a guy that's ah, really embodies with being a don is all about Has has matured and grown a lot over the past four years. I thought he's Ah, He's gotten better every year, and that's something that that's really It's I'm proud of as a coach to be able to say that about one of our guys and, you know, play the full 40 today. I just feel like you know, we need him on the floor at all times. And that's ah, that's about as big of a compliment as a coach and give a player Oh, Joe, Where do you put your team right now? On the West Coast conference. You know, you had a great game the other night. Ah against Santa Clara Santa Cruz. But you know the team is, you know, 11 lost. 111 lost when you haven't been able to real off that two or three game winning streak yet. League play. Yeah, we obviously haven't beat Gonzaga be where your Saint Mary's yet so I think we're we've been. I think I still think Have a chance to be a top three team in this league. Obviously this this was a close game and I'm disappointed we weren't able to get it done. But we're just gonna try to get better. I mean, we went out on Thursday night one by 23 on the road of Santa Clara. So I think that speaks about a team a little bit. And you know, we we came back and give ourselves a great opportunity. One in the second half tonight after a tough first half Watch it still tough stretch coming up. I'm looking at the schedule here the next three games. They're all out on the road, including your next one. Will you have another opportunity against the team in front of me in the standings when you play at BYU? Yeah. I mean, I think every game in this league stuff you know, there's a couple teams that I've struggled a little bit, but You know, in home and road, and I don't know how much of an advantage or disadvantage that is this year. You know, teams have been pretty consistent with their efforts without fans. So it is what it is, and this thing's really good. That's just the bottom line. There's no nights off. We're gonna have to try to go on the road in Provo and get one back and see what we got. And when you play BYU for the second time, what things need to go, Ah, little bit different to pick up that winning Utah. There's only one thing we got to rebound better, you know, and we've done that. The last two games. I think Tommy's in a really nice job getting on the glass and being physical. He's giving us a big lift that way. But the only reason why we lost two in the first games we were really, really bad on the glass. I thought we weren't physical enough. We're tough enough and we defended We We took care of the ball. We didn't make a lot of shots, but we give ourselves a chance, and we just did not clean the board well enough if we want to give ourselves you know, Owen opportunity on Saturday. We're gonna have to do that. Your team coaches played 18 games now that puts you in the lead. In the nation along with the long would they have also played 18. And you know, we've talked about this before? If you'd kind of be, you know, a double edged thing. Yeah. You're getting a lot of ball games in but your guys maybe, you know, a little worn down, Will you relish The Thursday off day this week to have a full week between bogging. Yeah, it'll definitely help us. I think it's a good time for it. I think we kind of need it gives us a chance to give our guys a couple days off toe. Refresh your early in the week and then Dive back in and get a real full prep on BYU. You know, I think we'll get three days to really get together and game plan for him spend some time and practice guarding what they like to do come up with different ways to affect them. If they're having success, and I think we'll be ready to go and compete really hard. Next Saturday, coach Great Week of preparation for you and your team and good luck Saturday and Provo. Thanks like that. Right. That's USF headman Todd Golden, the Gaels Hold on to win it. 67 63 is you heard Coach Golden allude to USF left some points at the free throw line here.
