The better option does not exist out there. Not even close. Todd and Don show ninety nine point seven. Here. The trucks roaring out front ear with sand and salt. And I don't even know if it's going to be enough at this point with this kind of blizzard that we're facing today. What is it? Lizard. If you've got a fly you've got a flight leaving thirty nine. "He chose to join us here on the Todd Don show a little bit slower out there. There's no school. No state workers on the job. That's right. Although sterile workers hanging out at home too. It should be a smooth sailing. If you've got to be on the roads today going to be pretty good for you and a little chilly start. But it's going to be nice come this afternoon with temperatures in the mid sixties. So it should be a pretty nice one. What check in with our meteorologist in about ten minutes shown in this morning. One area. I was going through. It was thirty degrees in about five minutes later. It's forty degrees. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know you get to a cold. So I can't explain it. But all kinds of temperature. You must have gone out to a low spot in the city. I must have I must have been a low pork because it was thirty. And then look up miss forty. That's the best story. I have so far. That is great you provided. Some amazing information already look at you. Cut rates. You're amazing. You're you're you're you should win a Peabody spinner of the yarn. Check this out. You know with all the talk over the weekend about the president's proposal, which includes his demand for five point seven billion dollars for a border wall. The left is still saying that wall's are immoral. You shouldn't you shouldn't do that. The remorse safety is immoral. But we want to bring up a story this morning, and it's kind of the height of hypocrisy because every city council member that we currently have here in Austin, what speak out against that wall. Saying it's immoral. We shouldn't be doing that. That's what every city council. This democrats. Socialist city council that we have no doubt. But I want to remind you or at least tell you about a story that's been developing over the past several weeks. Well, now, the city of Boston is inching towards a short term solution to a downtown alleyway that police and business owners say it's become a magnet for criminal activity. Installing a ten foot fence to deter crime on Red River. I thought that was immoral. It's offense drug dealing prostitution, humid ways to frequent issues in that alley between beer land. In the old Sidewinder club there on the seven hundred block of Red River streets now, Nicole Caputo, the city's economic development department told members of the downtown commission Wednesday evening. They alley runs between river at Waller creek, which has long been a host of encampments for homeless people. And now we're going to erect a wall to keep those citizens out of that alley. Well, it's offense offense. The word wall is highly offensive apparently barrier offense, whatever you wanna call it apparently offense is not offensive. So that they can do I guess because you can essentially see through it. So somehow, that's more moral. It may take a few months even get this going and may take about one hundred thousand dollars. How does it take so long to to for public safety in this city? I know because you hit me come out and get an ongoing problem here. You know, what the solution is let's get the fence erected today. It is kind of interesting because the activity that's going on in. That alley is a result of not having offense is highly offensive to a lot of people yet. You know, the fence is going to take forever to get up. It is six oh nine in time for the rush update the Washington Post just ran a long article title from riches to rags and Venezuela. Venezuela used to be one of South America's wealthiest nations. But now is one of the poorest. The post describes how this oil rich country is. Latin America's new underclass because it's buckling under the weight of Venezuela's descent, socialism, there's no food. There's no electricity. There's no money every day five thousand people flee the country trying to escape starvation in the last two years two million have fled. Another two million will leave this year. Women women risk being raped and attacked by smugglers. Members of the upper class skilled professionals. They are abandoning their property taking jobs as day, laborers in other countries, but life is worse for those who stay in Venezuela. It's also totally predictable. And I did predict when Hugo Chavez came to power back in one thousand nine hundred nine but are brilliant liberal elite including Hollywood stars praised Chavez and his chosen successor socialist dictator nNcholas Maduro American liberals. Always celebrate socialism. Just as they're doing today of the democrat party because they see it as total power. Even though it fails every time, it's tried. They still think it hasn't been tried by the right people with the right amount of money..

"Doing ladies and gentlemen, you have found the Todd Don show. You're welcome. So many things to get to date thirteen the government partial shutdown here and everybody on both sides of the aisle, doubling down. Trump stands firm on his need for a border wall. Nancy Pelosi Chuck Schumer say not gonna do that just a few minutes ago Ronin McDaniel, she's the GOP chairwoman. She says it's time to focus on some of the real issues here, which are the Democrats who are proposing some very dangerous policies for our country. I love my uncle. And this my tweet yesterday had nothing to do with family. I would have done this to any freshman, incoming Senator. And I would have said, hey, let's focus on the real issues. Here. What are the Democrats who are proposing dangerous policies for our country? And let's remind Americans about the good things that have come out of the Trump administration judicially taking on ISIS funding. Our military wages are up three percent. Four million new jobs. We have a media that ninety percent of the coverage is negative against this president, the Democrats are abstracting unprecedented level as a party we need to come together. If we're going to be successful because we're up against unprecedented odds, and this juggernaut of negative, democrat and media attention. So we've got to come together. And and Republicans wanna see our senators and our congressional members support this president there's room for disagreement. There's room for disagreement Ronin McDaniel hurrah, her uncle is Mitt Romney who had that op Ed piece this week in the Washington Post, very. Critical of President Trump that he. The mantle of the presidency. Mitt Rodney says jump in here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety toll free eight seven seven five nine five five to five. You are very compassionate about those. You've have been firm owed across this country with this partial government shutdown. You know, I just I just feel for those that are feeling this feeling this the patch financially because of this they have nothing to do with it. I appreciate Donald Trump his battle to keep our country safe. And that's what it all comes down to. But I don't agree with other people having to pay a price for jump in here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety the president. We heard from him earlier this morning. He says if we build a five billion dollar wall, we could save an estimated two hundred seventy billion a year. Yeah. The math is that true. I don't know where he comes up with that as we know you agree with it. But we. No, I I don't know where it came from. I'm sure we will save money. But I two hundred seventy billion. I I don't know. I don't know if he did some quick calculating there. Sometimes he does things out of thin air. It would be an easy sell. If that was true, right? It would it would if anybody wanted to pay attention to that we need to get a grip on illegal immigration. No doubt about it. I mean, I think we can all agree on that we need to get a grip on illegal immigration. Is the wall the answer? Who knows because we've never had a what do you think? Oh, no. It's not. It's not completely complaint answer. I've never thought that it was an I never thought that it would happen. And I still thank you probably will not seven thirty seven and the Chinese have done something nobody's ever done. They landed on the dark side of the moon. How about that? Yeah. The unexplored far side of the moon faces away from earth the probe has the Chinese have now landed a spacecraft on the moon. It's it's a Rover, and it'll rom the lunar surface conduct all kinds of experiments. But science correspondent Thomas more with the FOX sister network sky new says, they're still many unanswered questions about this Chinese mission there being much we'll secretive than paths NASA or indeed the Russians of emission likely as we heard about it through state media. Now is that because it has propaganda Vanni. Or does it reflect that this is very early stage of the the Chinese space exploration that they'd really not very confident about the technological success. They've done it. But what does what happens next is this part of its mission to to extract minerals from the from the moon is it part of his plans to dominate the space militarily. We've simply deny there you go. So it's on the other side of the moon doing a little exploration. Very cool. I mean, obviously, we have orbited the moon. So we've been over the dark side of the but they're taking in the Twitter verse very critical of the Chinese mission on the moon. Why? While included Charlie Kirk. He says, they are our greatest adversary. They have stolen our technology for decades to fund a rise of their empire. We'd better wake up quickly or else. The world will be a much darker place with a strong China. China is not our friend. That's the cinema. That's being tweeted out there. Thousands of thousands of time right now in cyberspace when it comes to this this moon landing. Well, they are fifty years late getting any kind of presence on the moon at all still technically still in technology from our companies and other companies out there died died. I'm sure we we all steal from each other come on that. That's that's no secret. But I don't see this as a threat. I agree that they probably have been how secretive or they being though. I mean, they've got they have a photograph that was taken from. This Rover is an all over the move all over the world. I've driven I've driven to Texas Tech. I've seen that picture before. Through give me the. Yeah. You don't have to go part is don't give me that. Yeah. No. It's the dark side of the moon. It pretty much looks like any other side of the moon. Listen pita. People for the ethical treatment of animals are perfectly edible. Tasty animals. Yes. They're on a mission to get out of the forty acres. They don't want vivo field anymore because people could die. They say. It's just too dangerous to have vivo on the field. They don't want any mascot now. This is the reaction to the football, program's mascot, the longhorns. Steer vivo, the caused a stir just ahead of the Sugar Bowl when it got out of its barricade, and what's going after the Georgia bulldog mascot Xs NASA, again, you saw the pictures, right? Yes. You've seen the video that's still out there. I think it's on our Facebook page of this. I'll be losing his cool. It's everywhere going after the bulldog. Yes, there was a person that was injured in that. I mean, it could have been anybody injured in right? I mean, there's a lot of people packed around taking pictures. Somebody could have been stepped on for sure that worked for the statesman. Nick, Wagner is his name. And he's a photographer. The Austin American statesman and he interrupted the impeachment proceedings yesterday. Between three and seven on this station and wanted to tell his story pretty good Mark on my back, but his horn came up around clock in the right cheekbone. And I'm surprised that that doesn't so as much as my back, but there's a good four or five inch bruise on my back right on my spine. He it could have been really really bad for you, Nick. Yeah. I'm fortunate that I escaped or the minor that I do have. I mean, the hammers are quick to jump on them and grab a hold of his horns all that. So thank that's they're not and corralling before getting more havoc on me because he he had me in between the goalposts. That's for sure. Now, you were shooting at the time watching taking pictures of bugger right now. They just put them on the ground walking around getting ready to show them to. And so here on the ground for ten fifteen seconds shooting like wide. I go shopping below. I wasn't really worried about checking out. Keep my head on a civil cause. He's usually pretty chill. I mean every now. Boston and have some fun. But I didn't expect to look back behind my shoulder. People start yawning and after I heard some gates clamoring coming right for me. There you go could've been could've been a whole lot worse. I really do as I said yesterday. I actually thought it was kind of it kind of added to the whole. Power of the game. It it kind of got the drilling going kinda showed how how it kind of added to Texas being really serious about winning. It was it was a little bit of drama that I think played in. Well, I'm not saying going on. I don't blame any Texas officials not seen it because I mean, it feels like it felt like it lasts forever. But it was it was over down within a couple of seconds. So on Cameron had a game of St. Nick the real question here. All right. How many lawyers heard from the guys that advertised on this station called me how many business cards? Did you get by the time? It was halftime remarkably I have none. And I I don't really have any plans to go about that come on, Nick, Nick. Pockets man largest in the world. I got I got to put on that bowl viciously and brutally beaten came after Nick for surely you've got a neck race somewhere. Nick. Exactly, you're good sport about. Sports Texas football game. So I'm just got to keep your head on sale next time. The expression is hook them. And it did literally. It's a reminder that you're dealing with an animal here an animal that is not in its natural environs. And it's also pretty much an illustration of how they don't sedate Bibo. Contrary to popular belief. Well, according to Peter the incident could have been a potential life ending tragedy. But the individuals and that bulldog that may have been in the longhorns path. Well, now, the organization goes on to state that incidents like this other reason that most college and professional sports teams have retired there live animal mascots decades ago. Peter writes, if these animals are frequently carded around to sporting events and public appearances, which are confusing and frightening. I guess it could have been alive or a life ending event. But it wasn't someone could fall in the stands and hit their head that can be life ending as well pay that just just reaching reaching for nothing again trying to find some justification for their existence. So sorry, Peter. What would the lawsuit be like if vivo did trample someone's stick his Hof right in the back of the photographers, you know, right in the back and just like a rodeo style killing right there on the field. You know, what the Sugar Bowl wouldn't. Happened. They wouldn't played that game. No, it wouldn't have been appropriate to have done that. Right. So you would have a different opinion this morning might might be honest. I guess I. Okay. I guess I would. But it didn't happen and everybody's fine. Everything's fine. Again, I'm not saying we should get rid of evil. I'm not saying that at all the only thing that happened was it adding to the lower in the kind of thought it was cool. I did it helped hype up the game. It did it. Did it kind of gave it some? It was Paris kind of a lot of stuff. In cyberspace this morning about people are saying that Georgia should have played against Alabama over the weekend. They said Georgia was a much better team than Notre Dame. In fact, Notre Dame got pounded by.
