"Well it's past eight. Pm eastern on the thirteenth of august. And you will be shocked to hear that. Joe biden is still the president of the united states. Now laugh at this craziness but it's dangerous craziness. Think about what a deeply perilous moment for our democracy when a man who sells pillows on cable television has convinced tens of millions of americans that a safe secure democratic election was stolen earlier this week. The pillow man held a bizarre multi-day symposium where you plan to at long last. Reveal his proof. He began the proceedings by blaming technical difficulties on a cyber attack ultimately unable to provide even a single shot of evidence to prove his coals. Wouldn't it be better for you to hand it over to as many cyber experts as popular. We'll give you the answer. Because i've been told that they can go out there and corrupted and make fake stuff input fake news out. So i don't need your people to go out and dr. The evidence put out on markland. Joseph could have been saying for months media experts. Everybody come see the data. We're showing right on screen right now. It probably goes without saying that. The data was showing the symposium was garbage. Hackers lyndale high together. His proofs still believes there could be evidence of fraud. He argued what lindell's showcase at the high profile event was ultimately illegitimate telling the washington times quote. We were handed a third now. There's an understatement. According to a new lawsuit lindell's received so-called proof of voter fraud from another trump ally. Another trump world ringleader. The founder of the furniture company overstock dot com. A guy named patrick burnt. He stood down a ceo in two thousand nineteen after admitting to a relationship with russian spy maria bettina and burn is well known for his voss trove of deluded conspiracies writing a book and producing documentary on what he called a rigged election. Mother jones is called him quote one of the driving forces of misinformation and disinformation about the two thousand twenty election. And these are just two random is i mean. They are random guys but they're random guys with millions of dollars to burn huge platforms and access. Both men met with donald trump in the white house. When he was president burn was there in the oval office on december. The eighteenth sydney powell. In general mike flynn plotting with trump. They are trump's guys and so people listen to them. Listen to their mad ramblings and those of others like the and those ramblings have real world consequences. The former overstock ceo for example contributed millions to that ridiculous election audit quote unquote in arizona by those so-called cyber ninjas the one where they're looking for bamboo fibers to see if china mitigated the vote and looking for watermarks on the ballots with uv. Lights look colorado. Where passwords related to the state's election security was stolen and leaked to a fall right blog. Colorado secretary of state says the leak was enabled by local official named tina pizzas. Who spend whole weekend. Where else speaking. Mike lindell's china stole the election. Symposium shock horror both of these men lyndale and burn and now being sued for billions of dollars for spreading lies that a voting machine company dominion conspiring to rig and steal the election from donald trump. So here we are friday the thirteenth by instill still president and the only significance today house for pillow mon. Mike lindell is good old-fashioned friday the thirteenth bad luck but as with all good cults expect the goalposts to shift fast expect won miss deadline for a false conspiracy to just bleed into another because a significant chunk of the american public has collectively lost. Its mind and the blame lies squarely with the big lies. Perpetrated by a coalition authoritarians white supremacists and yes. Attention seeking drifters and conman. History will record that in america in twenty twenty one. The fascist did not come wearing jackboots. They came selling pillows and online furniture. Joining me now is someone who understands former president trump probably better than most. Mary trump his niece. She's also the author of the upcoming book the reckoning our nation's trauma and finding a way to heal mary thanks so much for coming on the show. This evening i always wonder trump is a command. he's gifted. we agree on that. But how much is he himself. Being calmed by those around him. The pillow guys the online furniture guys. The dodgy lawyers and the rest. How much does he believe. He won the election because people have convinced him to believe that. These mad conspiracies and much of is just a gift a means to an end. It's both as.

"Me of Josh weinstein commented on our book for which he wrote the You know he call that the Forward the board of the booklet bill that he had that comment about like oh. There was a lot of stuff in there. That i didn't know which you and i both self deprecating people places because that may be but you know as we've explored in this podcast in both rations and as we've both experiences being working creatives like it's so easy to when you're so focused on whatever that creative task at hand is say working on a tv. Show like the simpsons. You're so fixated on getting that one episode down for whatever that week or month that it just it occupies so much real estate in your brain that you it goes out the next cycle for an episode and then to be filled with whatever that story is so of. Course you know there'd parts of the simpsons history that they're just not even like cognizant of because they were just so close to it. And i i love how those stories also and just like this experience of doing the podcast in general getting to meet those heroes getting to have those moments of like wait homers. Dad does about us. I feel like that is something very specific to this era of fandom in this era of or not this era but like i guess you know the previous era of podcast when we first started our podcast. The environment podcasting was very different than it is now. And it's funny to think about it like when we first started our podcast. There was starting to be that sense of like. Oh another podcast. I know everybody has a podcast now. Truly everyone does and some have multiple. I think nicole buyer has seven And and i think that there's been something that has been unprecedented and on locked by this sort of podcast era or our podcast era of like getting their meet. Those heroes realizing that they're closer than we think. Twitter of course plays a part in this as well sliding into the of your heroes. Nothing weird or sexual just to compliment them. I think that it is say nothing. Maybe sometime if it's digiorno pizza alley and absolutely go to at least twitter and see more details about this weird pizza three ways. She's in with corporate brands. Yeah there was a time in my life in my early twenty s where there were three different pizza companies with twitter accounts who were vying for my attention and i wish that wasn't the best work winter tina's pizza role is sliding the gems. How much better does it get. I love like the willful ignorance that we all buy into with that though like of course we know it's some twenty something that we probably know or mark connected to through certain degrees of separation. But i choose to believe this anthropomorphic pizza typing at their little pizza computer. And hundred sending you love. And that's the story to it. But anyway i was rambling but basically i wanted to say that there is something really special that the good side of social media and podcasting brings you of the tightness of that community that you thought was so disparate prior Especially like you know just understanding. Your heroes are human. They are not unlike you and just how much of a tree that has been to realize that in many different ways whether it was interviewing people for around springfield. Or everything's coming up podcast. Everything's coming up simpson's whichever flavor you prefer You know whether they worked on the simpsons or not just realizing other creatives are very similar in that way or you know just that we're all people at the end of the day. It's been such a treat. That's my big. Yeah -tarian rant. Now i totally get it. Yeah i wanna just briefly. Go back to the beginning. We've told our story many times in the podcast said there's no surprise of our origin in terms of being set up by will weldon begrudgingly saying we should be friends because we both love the simpsons and then it just kind of quickly moving from there. I feel like there wasn't a lot of downtime between us kind of meeting and then us kind of be like let's work together like let's do this. Let's have fun and figured out and I like that for people that are both such planners and really I think feel most comfortable. When there's like a semblance of control in your hands you know via that. We kind of had a a very. Let's just see how it goes attitude about the show. And i think that sometimes what makes podcast great is all the pre-production and all the you know the different types of like bells and whistles in you know things that are super highly produced. I really liked that. We had kind of like this kind of more lo fi punk rock lake. Let's just see where the conversation takes us. Cats meowing file leading. You know people listening Writing to us online. Your sound is fucked up and then us going. We're trying yeah. Yeah in addition to just like recording quality up it. I just also think that like not needing to have all these segments Or choosing to to just kind of like. Let the conversation where it goes and be cool with any plops in the stakes and even god forbid the times that we've misquoted. This show who cares. Go eat a peach. What i say to those guys. Eat my piece. I know but that's kind of something that i really admired about us. Especially as people that tend to identify type a much the time. Yeah yeah when we got together. I feel like early on. I described as taipei taipei minus and whoever is in the driving seat gets to be taipei. And whoever's aside gets to be type a. minus. I feel like you know. Maybe somebody wouldn't here that and go. Oh are you competitive. Because you guys are both such lisa simpson's but i feel like the type type bay minus is a kind kind of arrangement of like if it's important to you allie. I will let you take the wheel. Or i'll be there ready to step in and i think you i know you do that to me is well And i think also like it's not lost on us that it's fucking hard to find. Really strong creative collaborator. Like there's no courting period You kind of update or you don't which is sort of the scarier part of both like if you're in a writing partnership or podcast hosting partnership like it becomes very obvious when it doesn't work out and becomes all the more heartbreaking because of that obviousness so. I'm glad that we didn't have to like break up friends. This didn't work out one hundred percent. Yeah what the listeners. Don't know is not julia. And i are mortal and you know what the moment this episode drops reset. I don't wanna see you moving further away from me for the shelbyville versus. It'd be funny if we all the comments on twitter for our last matt greening episode have been like you know a lot of them leaned. I wonder what you guys are gonna do next. What's going to happen. It'd be hilarious if we both did spin off. Simpson's rival podcast. That was just us us. Funny with weird like facilities of each other weird like novel gangsters. That weren't quite the shelby version of.

"To do today is talk about food past present and future and maybe make a meal if you can make the best meal from thirty years ago. What would you make what now. What is the perfect meal. I don't have. I don't a segment. I don't have a song i came. There's i should have said. Make some weird weird song. We're using the t to song over fucking back to the future for this segment the stupid shit you do. I haven't There is no segment name for this. So i don't know if you can put a twist on it but what's your your perfect thirty year old meal wags let's determine our snacks to the future. Wow so we've got. What are we now. I was a little confused when you told me about. This exercise and i'm still unclear. Maybe you can clarify because a lot of food that exists today also existed of quarter years ago so ours. You're saying stuff that you stuff that was like maybe more common in the nineties. See anymore stuff that's maybe been discontinued or just fallen out of fashion. Yes for sure. Got a specific things from nineteen ninety-one that year it. That may be came out. You know what. I mean like Like big here a big year a big year alan. You're you were yet to exist. You were yet to correct. I was born in ninety three. And i'm scorpio. wow wow. Do you have a stella to this era even though it was you know. You're very early childhood on so last night. I was googling foods from nineteen ninety-one just to see you. I would pop up in like i didn't know that I don't know if y'all familiar with the totino's frozen pizza brandon. Of course okay I didn't know that they released. They started off in nineteen ninety two and so how yeah like this specifically the rectangular one and That was a huge part of my upbringing. I used to hell swimming. Yeah dude like swimming lessons at mountlake. Terrace pool in washington state. In before mike lessons my mom would always bake a tinos pizza. And i'm sure it is probably same with ina now kind of thing like maybe people that are like what are you. It's like a frozen pizza. But i think it's a sense of mental thing for me. It's a huge It's so good to me. You know yeah. You don't have to talk us into tina pizza rolls. I'm a. I'm a fan and mitch you could. You could Crisp those bad boys in your air fryer these days. You know what. I haven't tried pizza rolls. I don't think in my air fryer and that's perfect. I mean i shouldn't be running out and eating pizza rolls. You know what i mean. I know not at our age. There's other things i should be in. But yes but there's a few things like nick. The mclean burger came out this year. Which is a mcdonalds. And then cal. Asian choose cuisine was huge wolfgang puck. I don't know if he i don't know okay. I don't know what year he opened. What's the famous restaurant he's got there he's got fuck hold on. I'm gonna. I'm gonna google it because it's going to drive me nuts like both isn't it. It's called wolfgang puck. There is there is there is a there is a wolfgang's i think i think there is a heating but his original restaurant that be put him on the map in beverly hills with spago. That's that's what and then he's also got a cinhua in a santa monica which is another one of his big big thing. Is the cut steakhouse. Bs spago before before wolfgang puck. The man was a brand that was his big claim to fame. So why. I was thinking about this. Here's here's here's here's the meal that i kind of came up with For for nine. "I'll get to coming up here just as an idea thought balloon in a few moments, but first, Shawn Watson reportedly has the Jets as his number one preferred destination. And he doesn't care who the Texans higher. He wants out. He want to be traded anyway. I have to admit, I'm surprised that to Sean wants and has made the Jets his number one target. If this report is true, I would be surprised. He could. There's gonna be a lot of suitors for dish on Watson's abilities. And there's going to be I'm sure Franchise or two that bids and his services that has had far more recent success than the Jets. Now. Primarily the reason to Shawn Watson likes the Jets is apparently he really likes Robert Salad, the new head coach, former D. C. In San Francisco and Sal. It seems like a really cool Gotta play forward. His players love him, and he's smart and and aggressive and seems like he's a culture builder so I could understand. Want to play for him. The only thing is the foundation Watson. I'm really careful about walking into the Jets because Ownership and front offices always been such a problem, and you have the Johnson Brothers and Woody Johnson obsessively owns the team, but he's kind of like Bit. Of a Behind the scenes owner. He's kind of vacated the slot so his brother has taken over and there's a lot of a lot of questions about their ownership style and whether they're bright or whether they're Two hands on or two hands off or whatever. You know they are Children of the Johnson and Johnson fortune. And so I just don't know if I would be running to the Jets. Now, from a football standpoint, they have potential because Head coach could be a good head coach, and you do have cap room and you do have the number two pick of the draft. But if you were to Shawn, Watch in, my guess is when you go to the Jets, they're not gonna have that number two pick of the draft. I think that's gonna be the trade that the Jets have to give up to get to Shawn Watson. So you'll have cap space. But of course to Shawn Watson absorbs a lot of that cap space is on a huge contract right now. We don't have really any elite skill position talent right now. You do have draft picks. You do have capital. But you haven't spent those yet, or use those yet. I don't know. Mariah's I'm a little bit like careful what you wish for. If you've made the Jets, you're number one preferred destination because I think there's going to be more stable franchises with more winning parts around you. Then the Jets will be able to offer to Shawn Watson. Yeah, you're probably right. But if he loves Robert salad that much like if that's what it really comes down to, because we all don't know everybody's personal, believes if he loves Robert Salad that much And who could sway him another way. Clearly Richard Sherman and maybe these other guys were in here about what a great coaches is going to be any so fed up that he's just longing for one of these teams that needs a quarterback to have the coach that fits him and there's something about Saleh. That he loves onto me. I go on the flip side. If you're the Jets, and you've made this higher salary, and this actually is what attracts a guy like that shown Watson. I want to play for you, boy. You can't let him go anywhere else. You gotta pay what you got to pay to make sure you get him there. Totally agree with that. I mean, if the shop wants it wants to be a jet that you just make it happen. Whatever it's going to cost you make it happen. Whatever draft picks whatever cap ramifications, it doesn't matter. You just make it happen. It goes to show to watch. It automatically becomes the best quarterback the Jets would have had since Joe Nemeth. Yeah. That's just the moment he walked in the door. That's the best quarterback you've had in 50 years. So you make it happen is 25 years old. Would just deformed John Watson's advisors or to Shawn watched himself to be like, you know if I'm running to the Jets right now. So trash Tuesday is upon us tomorrow. And I just have to say the short tweet today. Or last night qualifies as early trash Tuesday fodder. Shorts. Who's he's been a punching bag here on the D A show sometimes fairly sometimes unfairly. Tweets, though I honestly could care less about who wins the Super Bowl number one grammatically incorrect. You couldn't care less. If you say you could care less you care a least a little bit. I honestly couldn't care less who wins the Super Bowl, he writes. I'll watch but I'm really looking forward to the food and the commercials. Okay? This is a man who plies his career in sports. His Twitter handle is at Schwartz Sports. And he says his biggest reasons to watch the freaking Super Bowl is the food and the commercials. What do you die in an accounting? Your Twitter handle is Schwartz Sports? You're You. Your entire professional identity and career is sports. It is perhaps the greatest football player ever versus a guy that could be the greatest football player ever in the Super Bowl, and you're like Just intellect, the to Tina's pizza rolls. Well, what is this? What is wrong with him? Please? You're the beat reporter on the shorts beat explain this to me. So again. I don't have four hours to go over this, but I just wanna have a couple things on the record here. Number one. I, too am looking forward to the food at the Super Bowl. There's no doubt because we all do right. It's a good day to pick out. It's an excuse to pig out. You can pick out any day. Correct. And this is what I'm gonna get to an I have stated on this show. I am not enthusiastic about the Super Bowl, but it becomes it comes from a fact of I've got Tom Brady fatigue, but I know what I wake up Super most one day, I'm gonna be juiced up the watch Patrick Holmes playing a Super bowl and actually watch the game, Not whatever the Eminem's commercial is gonna be. And if I can add a caveat to his little food point. Look, we full followed Schwartz on Twitter and Instagram Facebook. It's not as if he has some kind of great restaurant, bringing in the catering into the Schwartz house. He's looking forward to the food. When we saw the New year's friend, you'd know it's the frozen shrink mean should know. It's the Dino Chicken Nuggets should know. It's the critical cut fries. He's admitted to the fact that he can't cook. The guy can't even pull a poor bullet for a bowl of cereal. It is not as if Super Bowl Sunday comes around and suddenly now's the time for Pete. You all of a sudden have this amazing Super Bowl party with all this food? No, it's him, his wife, his kids, and that's great. Keep it small during covert, and they're eating the same frozen foods they eat during every Islanders game. So what exactly you're looking forward to. He's going to have that spread six times between now and Super Bowl Sunday, so that's what he's looking forward to..
