"When did we forget that. Many know they've been these guys aren't the they're not the golden girls but they're close. They're like as close as we're allowed to get her century but the fact that they're all super funny and they get to be funny. What's important to me. And you and the missing fifth is from mean girls musical. Yeah raise ashley. Who's original group member who they see in flashback sometimes and hopefully will find a way to keep justifying seeing her and season to season two. Right right it's also the people without giving anything away. They may recognize the dolly parton cameo on the show. Well so just if we can close with last minute just a couple of big picture things. During the run of kimmy schmidt. I think was when you produce in starting whiskey. Tango foxtrot with I guess which robert also was very involved with and then with amy. I think it's now seven movies martin. Orlov mean man of the year. Baby mama anchorman. Two sisters and wine country So i guess is to you these days. The line between film and tv is as blurred as ever but are is film-acting. Something that you want to do. More of going forward i dunno. I mean i've talked with my friends about you. Hi it's amazing how you can go from like oh man if i could only be in a movie to like when is it. I mean i do feel like maybe. There's maybe there's i i look forward to Being like an old lady in a movie where my kids are grown. I don't know i do think that. Tv is my home now. You and amy co host with the golden globes in two thousand thirteen fourteen. Fifteen and twenty one is that fun and and what do you make of the fact that you may have hosted. The last Owns one time. We said they twenty fifteen. I think we said welcome to the final four. You just ahead of time. Yeah yeah i mean. I think we'll be sad to if we don't hang out next year but we'll just find another way to hang is there. Have you been approached the hosting the oscars is that just a different vibe than the globes. It's such a different vibe. It's such a high stress if the stakes are too high and no no one's there laugh right. Yeah so you would if somebody if they ever came around the idea of having a host again and they asked you with or without amy. It's a. It's a no i i would like to stick to my guns and say it's a. It's a very grateful. No thank you. And then i guess just finally. We've talked about in in an hour here. How just amazing amount of stuff you've accomplished already. Is there anything in your mind. That is still specifically on the to do list or is it just kind of keep the keep the train rolling at this level. Keep the train rolling up to write a play some time just like a poor man's neil simon. Just try to write a comedy play. And i have some specific projects. Domer- tv that. I i do want to get to. But i feel like if i name those. Then it'll be like where are they. Every future interview will be that. Yeah well. I can't thank you enough for doing this. Thank you really appreciate it. Congrats on girls of. It's great. thank you so much everybody..

"Come by because he knew that. If i didn't end up wanting to do it or if i stunk at it and marshall but he pm wig had rachel was still there. Leakey had plenty of people who could do it. And so i think. I think i didn't go over there to do that. I one until the day of is that possible. That i not go the friday night even shooting. I think the saturday of that first sarah palin. I know that. I shot an extra day of thirty rock that i shot all day with oprah strong armed into being in an episode and then i was on the brakes trying to learn the impression to make up an impression on my breaks. And i've said this before. But i remember oprah saying to me like i think you might be doing too much oprah tells you this will so what for you was. The was the first indication that this was actually really working because obviously there was a huge audience response but was there a was it at dress or even before that where somebody said. We've really got something special here. Well i think it was a perfect storm. I think the audience really rooted for it because they felt that they had cast it And i had never been a part. I as a performer. I had never been chosen ever before. It was always may just being like how about me. But how can i do it and people being like no and so. It was the first time i ever performed anything. Where the like the door was. Open for me Get so far when there's a little bit of goodwill there. Oh my god it's it's just a little easier. And also seth meyers. And amy end and i think you know amy and i definitely i think. Probably the bulk of the writing but those schedules. But we definitely had opinions in mid changes in pitch jokes and You know. Seth was at the top of his game and it just was It was our a prayer for owen. Meany lives and building to this will. Just the last thing about that topic is the october eighteenth. Two thousand eight episode where she actually showed up. There got the biggest ratings personnel in fourteen years. And it's interesting because somehow in the back of your head you were able to look at it outside of yourself and know that there were certain things you did and didn't want to happen with her there. Can you just take. Like what were your. What were your concerns. Well you know. I had worked there for a long time before right so i knew kind of how things work. And she wants to come on because generally usually people embrace even if they don't really like it or whatever maybe they find that they like to appear like they embrace impression of themselves And i think. I did say like please want to Because i i thought we were starting at that time to see the beginning of what i think was a very very very beginning of divisive politics. I mean now looking back on it now. It's like a charity fund. Run but at the time it felt it felt divisive. Wasn't i wasn't on board will. So what you what. You weren't on board with Was not actually sharing screen with. Can we do it that. I'm just not in a two shot with her. Voice is because if if i'm gonna to shot with her it's what they're gonna show at the emmys when i die and i don't want that to be what they show at the emmys. Well that's thinking ahead. Let's long long term plan so but okay so that there was a there was a moment here where this is october. Two thousand and eight new york times article. Bill carter quote. It's easy to find tina fey on tv but not her show. That was the headline and the article. Itself says quote with her three emmy awards her ubiquitous eric commercials and especially her must see sarah palin impersonations. Tina fey is not. Just the hottest starring nbc. She's about the hottest star in show business at the moment so whereas thirty rock close quote so meanwhile i guess there was still there was always the struggle to with time slots and just figuring out how to keep it alive but it did. For seven seasons twenty two episodes. You guys made it happen. All you have the tapes right but also you know while being a wife a mom while making movies which mentioned later while hosting other things and So i guess just did it end because you understandably enough for just like this is a very heavy plate or what was the reason it ended when it did it ended. It was feeling like it was time to end. I think by that time. I had learned and i think i did have everybody in their proper deals through new even through a season eight and so i think alec was a wet but but I had had my second daughter during season. Six and i was tired and And i remember bob. Green blood had just taken over. And i thought well this is also when banou people takeover they don't want the people stuff and so i thought. Let me try to control the landing of this and so i went to bob and said we would like to do thirteen and then be done and it was a very quick yes because i think he maybe canceled it anyway but because it was expensive you know it was shot on film in new york and the more seasons. You go with people. Everyone's fees go up and and so we did those thirteen in a very proud of the ramp out of the show. We we. I feel like we did a good job. I feel like you know. We studied so many series finales to get ready for it. And i do. I do think. I do feel good about how we ended up. The i don't know how much of a break you got after that. Because let's just note that cami schmidt goes on in two thousand fifteen. I believe originally had been planned for. Nbc right but ends up at netflix. An you know has very passionate following a really fun show. And i guess ellie you knew from maybe the officer brides no l. e. Once or twice and robert nigh we took a little break after thirty rock ended. I think i made a movie.

"I was just trying to figure out even remotely out to be on tv. I definitely feel like i was there to kind of ground him I think lauren has some thing that he says that like i was there to give him intelligence and he was there to give me like sex appears in. I don't i don't think either of us bless. Our hearts is laying down a lot of sex appeal on. We're not like it's not like it's salma hayek well connery. i mean. people obviously obviously enjoy in both forms. But i guess what was it you as you've said there. You were reaching out to mike. Sharon robert about this show in around that time. But whose idea was that where you were you looking to kind of d de board. Whatever the word might be at that point. You know that you wanted to leave an hour. Was that somebody else. I think i was trying to build a life boat. Only because you can't stay forever unless you're keen and your pact with the devil to look twenty eight for the rest of your life teen is the only one who looks the same. He is the best So i think yeah. I was like oh i should start figuring out what i'm gonna do in lorne had encouraged me to take an overall deal. Nbc and i think. I think i hope it would be. I would take overall deal and then just deliver nothing and just keep keep the money. Say i'm too dutiful. And so i kept trying to write versions of pilot. That was an early version of thirty rock. That was kind of closer to great news. Actually it was set in the cable news. Run it's still was liz jack relationship but there was no tracy. Kevin reilly passed on it. I also having gone too. Many path our pitches since then did not know how to pitch be like. I don't know just ridiculous. Snl entitlement in well learn good elise have some involvement or how did that area and so then i ended up rewriting it based on kevin riley's notes and brought it back As thirty rock. And and alex signed onto the pilot and i learned every every anything that i know about producing television half hour television i learned on thirty rock and the first thing i learned about was that alec had only signed on to do the pilot and then. Nbc was it was time for them to pick it up before the upfront and allocate jessica over a barrel. Because i had to pick it up..

"Just like around right right. Well all right so again to keep the chronology in order. It's a two thousand two thousand four when jimmy fallon leaves. It's the two of you guys than and by the way the first female co-anchor right aside from jane curtain up to that point was it also in the doing of weekend update. The un robert carlyle again was a successful staff writer on the show for a while at that time. And then when jimmy. And i were assigned to host begin. Update robert got assigned to run weekend. Update which meant he sort of barely got to write sketches anymore but he was in charge of of that segment which is a lot of work. Can you know robert was very good at it. And were well suited for it because he was smart and understood the news as well as had a lot of integrity about joke structure and quality of as you guys just on a personal level just like hit it off and i mean the fact. I just think people don't know yet. This is the person who you've worked with so closely on. All the more reason shows. I guess it started with that bond there. We can update yes. Robert left at some point. He left to Go work friends. And and we're less couple of seasons of friends and then went on to work at joey which i think it's fair to say was heroin compared to friends like i mean there was no there was no better job. Tv than friends. It's like the of and then and so about a year. Into joey only was i called him and said i'm writing this pilot. And i called. Robert mccall make sure and i was like would you guys be willing to come back for the week we shoot the pilot and just kind of helped me do punch up and and be around on set for things like when they sure knew robert i think his son james was a baby I don't think sure wasn't married yet. And they came up for a week and then And helped and then. Robert has been here since i think mike was maybe at the office already and so he has to go back but We'll see the was the beginning of thirty rock in two thousand six but before that even happens. Where are you like. Was it a particular personal ambition to also write a film script because it seems like during her off seasons with. Snl you would be. I don't know within your rights to take a break and yet it seems like that was not the. It's a question..

"Group called the family that They were Woes comp house team at the time and it was like neil flynn and in roberts end ali raza and an atom and they were wait. Gosh took Leave anybody out milestone office. The master off matt besser was so we would go see them all the time because they were just like next level next level improv. So you knew. I guess adam well enough that when he goes off in lives the lives the chicago dream of getting hired at snl. He then thought of you. I think i contacted him. Because so i had when he was after he left the main company at second city. I went into the main company. Actually as an under Understudied jon glaser and john. Who has this impish. Tastic style to his comedy. It was great because because he wasn't like a bro body douche type guy like a woman could understudy his parts because his comedy doesn't come a very gendered place so i was Jugglers under study. And that i eventually got into the company and then snl. Marcy klein had come to see the show. That i was in After that at to scout wrestle there was no interest in me as a performer. And so i thought okay. Well i think i've to plan my next move. I guess i'm not gonna be snl and also remember my husband. My boyfriend at the time. Jeff was scheduled to direct the next show in the main stage. And my deep chicago improv integrity. I was like well. That's just going to be a conflict of interest. I got the company before my boyfriend directs. It's not fair. And so. I pursued a writing job through adam and submitted a packet of potential sketches and stephan and adam me higher. So was that before you know. Obviously getting hired. I'm sure was was exciting. But before that the at the notion that you would be quote unquote only a writer as opposed to performing and potentially writing. Was that disappointing to you or you. Were just as happy to be there as a writer as a performer. No i was pretty happy to be there as a writer because even in the second city my role within the company was kind of as a writer. You know because. I was in people who were more pure performers. People like rachel trash and Scott asset. And so i sort of knew the my strength was pitching unsure. And so when you got hired was one of these stories which we've heard a few times on this podcast where it's like. You weren't even sure you add like what was the deal. I'm trying to remember the only thing i had been told. The only advice. I had gotten from chicago. Friends was like if you meet with more michael's just do not finish his sentences. He really hates people when people finish his sentences and so i went into this office. I you know food in new york for this meeting with adam. And then with. Lorne steve higgins and I went into lawrence office. And you're sitting there looking at the name plate says lorne michaels you cannot believe it and lauren looks means just says so you're from his long trip is And then i finally said philadelphia at the same time that he said chicago chicago but thankfully thankfully i survived and pretty quickly. Add to get there. I mean there's not a lot of like getting your life in order is there no. I think i had to be there within a week. I remember alma lady friends. Rachel judge amy. All these people took us out took me out to a farewell lunch at one of our chicago places..
Interview With Actress, Tina Fey
"Tina thank you so much. For coming on the podcast. It's great to have you and on this podcast. We always begin right at the very beginning. Just a couple of basics. If you don't mind where were you born and raised and And what did your folks do for a living. I was born in upper darby. Pennsylvania which is a suburb of philadelphia. And my mother was a stay at home. Mom for most of my childhood and my dad was a bunch of things. But mostly when i was a kid he was on a grant writer for university of pennsylvania and for a place called. Thomas jefferson university cool. And now i know you probably got a million variations of this one but were you a funny kid. I had heard the earliest thing i could find was that you were writing a humor column for the high school newspaper but was that the beginning or was it even earlier. Yeah i think i did. I did write a humor. Column called kernel that that still hopefully still going on. It was passed down from generation to generation at that school. I think i somewhere around middle school. Decided i wanted to be funny. I think you want to be funny. You self identify as wanting to be funny for a long time before you actually are funny and was you know one of the things just in prepping for this. I'd seen you were you. Were saying it was sort of just the way to. I guess probably for most people you know. They come up with some way to ingratiate themselves with a their peers. It can either be athletics or whatever for you is just that for sure. It was as it a coping mechanism. as a girl a girl who wasn't growing up the prettiest girl in the world. It was a way of kind of getting ahead of that. Really you're not gonna make fun of me. I'm gonna make fun of me. And maybe also you

"You're trying to fuck balance it all it just right and it's all nothing compared to someone who's doing all those same work hours on a job that they hate. That doesn't pay. Well no no no. Of course it's the same as being a working parents on any job but like just in the sense that like of any working parent especially working mom. Who's working any job. That's taking them. Long stretches whatever it is and of course there are a lot of people because they will. You get paid really well like okay. Sure but like you're still working all those hours and it's stuff you know once you get to stop. It's hard to go back like worked on a couple of things. I did a little small part in this. Show that steve martin marty short half and was that thing on your pickup is five ten. And you're like oh yeah every day especially for ladies because the pyramid people really gotten used to working at home to write in any occupation. I wonder how that's all transition back. I think now. I do like to go to an office. I like it right but five days a week or would it be great like two days a week three days a week. I feel like that's going to be the transition sean. You like one of the office. I do i. I prefer like the old man nine to five kind of one place. One stop shop. She's a nice that too. I like a routine. Jason lee said to him. We had this little company a couple of years ago. We shared office and he does be like you fucking dig. We've got this off. You're never in here and i go yet. My dad worked his ass off for forty fifty years. I don't want to have to do that. Why do you think. I do what we do so that i can not go to an office so you know what i did. I found a portrait of myself. And i put it behind my desk so he could look at me. True story that that really was counting paperclips at that place so tina like joke about retiring. But of course you're never gonna want stop writing and you're never gonna wanna doing that. Really know what would you. is there. Anything like picture. The girls are grown and out and win jeff. And you're at home and you still would be writing or is there something that you'd want to be doing. I wonder. I wonder it's like that thing of you. Know the improv training. Right you go back to. It's like wendy. You enter a scene the trick. The thing that trips people ups anyone right. When are you supposed to entertain. The answer is when you're needed is the only time you're supposed to enter. You're not supposed to enter a funny idea. You're not supposed to enter because it it's going well and you want a piece of it. What about the notion of like you. And jeff just doing just globetrotting and having some wanderlust and once you because become empty nesters to start traveling the world and knocking down and and getting all culture. Does that something. That's appealing to you or or you soft zaim and you need. Cnn and thread count. Oh yeah. I wanna see a couple places but i don't need to see everywhere increasingly just a homebody. One of us should right. Someone should try to be. Neil simon right look. Someone should write a play. I nominate you. If that's easy to do to write a comedy a hard comedy. Because i'll tell you what i go to these broadway plays and what passes for a joke sean. Mentioning brooklyn is a joke. Just and you have to do it out play out brooklyn what about the film's at neil simon They adapted and became great california suite. Long goodbye girl. One island and the blake edwards stuff. I mean what about those those big commercial films. i mean. someone's gotta write them tina. They don't write themselves. Nobody goes to that shit. I don't think they make comedy films anymore. they make would put them on netflix. Let's let's let's do that. Yeah no man you i. I saw some online today. Was like if you could only live with three of these film franchises. Which one would it be and it was like marvel star. Wars like harry harry potter. All the it was like wait. That's what it has become. That's in the film fact batman. Nobody's funny this is crazy. I can't wait for the letters and the comments funny anymore where to yeah okay. Yeah you're i love it. bring it on. You're not saying that you're saying that comedies are not in the theaters anymore. Really yes that's what i'm saying. Nobody's making comedy films now. One's gonna make you know. The in-laws snout the original inlaws no making. You can't make rushmore. Today nobody's been rushmore. You'd make it for watching it at home on my couch i don. I don't need to drive to see that right. I mean. I go to a theater to see some big huge format right a big thing or something penelope longer okay. We're almost oh sorry. We're wrapping up. Now we're wrapping up your your agent. Looks real young Yeah we are past our our here. I know we've been taking up way too much time. I'm sorry that we're keeping you from the. Because i wanna keep you and i just want your opinion on everything. I like any time i get your opinion. It feels like it's really the right one keeping your round. But all i have anymore. It's so good you've we're going to dismiss you but we're going to reserve the right to call you back with any questions. We have You're the best. Thank you so much for taking your time to do. She wanted to get off the she gave acute to penelope to come in and say okay now. This is the time i needed. I bet she was. She'd had now she she. Everybody knows who she has ever. How brilliant she is. everybody knows. everybody's a fan. It seems like that's the one person everybody can agree on right. That's oh my god. She's i would like to find the person that that doesn't like. Tina fey like who who who's who's that. How could you possibly not. Yeah she's the most. She's just so fricking funny. She such an unbelievable writer and a great joke writer. I mean just the funniest herself or anything to always funniest joke on everything you know. It's it's scary. It's intimidating yeah. She's she must be for some for you guys. A great great leader seems like a great leader. Incredible i'm very drawn to her. It was great. How sean you're on you're on Thirty rock a few times or once. Just once the finale of that first season just one will. You're on it a bunch of times. Weren't you i guess. Well that's what the four emmy nominations tell me but you know what come on. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter honestly. Were you want for four seasons. But did you get nominated four times. Yeah yeah from for congratulate wade so guests so so you you did four episodes. You've got nominated for all four more than for. I did a bunch i did like the first season i did one or two. It was not there for a season. It was like so. Do you want me to do an impression of your mom really quick going. Well it would have been more impressive if you won the true. That's very true. Should be much more impressive. One one i got a She's listening that you know we can keep it. My you know the first time jason. You know this story. The for coming back arrested development in one the comedy The emmy for best comedy and Two thousand four or whatever that was and the next day It was that was a sunday night the next monday. We had to be at work early iron. That seem to remember. We had the emmy those guys check. Martin brought his onset. We were so excited that we won improbably because we were such a low rated show. And i'm driving to the fox lot from venice and my mom calls and i it was like six. Am la times. I've been up till three or six is like. Oh my god my did you watch. Did you see the last night we wanted. She goes i did now. Your sister is going through. And then oh.

I may parents a couple of times. remember your data. Remember going to your wedding and we only met a couple times going. you're winning. Your dad described me as that guys brooks brothers handsome right. He said he knew. He's ero shirt. Remember that yeah. My dad was very taken with delays. Like oh god that guy that guy looks like an arrow shirt model very specific remember arrow shirts the sears catalog. like that guy's an arrow shirt and made them for for for thick. Dudes is the special. Excuse me nothing will within that he was really thin thin. Dina because because of your theater background would you ever want to do multi cam no for the audience. Difference between multi and single cam is single. Cam there's no audience multi cam. There's a live studio audience. That's when you hear laughing like cheers and will and grace and friends and all those would you ever want to do a multi-candidate. Seems like it'd be perfect for that. Yeah i do think it would be so. I feel like in some ways. It's hard to will. And grace was one of the last ones. That especially on nbc. They don't really do them so much more. I also have reached an age where. I can't really be photographed from the waist down so like but i do think it'd be fun. Wouldn't it be great to hear all that laughter through the masks or if you don't want to create one and right when i think you'd be so amazing. Are you saying that you wanted to create a multi game for you. What about what about hosting talk. Show would you ever do that. Tina it seems to me like you'd be fantastic at that. Thank you i thought. I think i'm very shy. I think to me. It sounds super stressful. I've never wanted to pursue that really shy. Yeah we can tell i am. I don't like being the center of attention. Well also those kind of late night talk shows like that's it that's a grind. That's like i remember when you were doing thirty. Came off now which was great because you were head writer and you're doing update and it was a lot a lot a lot especially leading right up till two thousand and eight and everything that was going on but you already doing thirty record that point but you were doing so much then go to thirty rock and it. Just kind of amps. It up even more because your show running thirty rock. And you're writing it on your starring in it as well in having sixteen hour days. So you're not pulling all nighters every night but you are going eighteen hours or seventeen hours a day like that was fucking really rough right for many years in there. It wasn't for salsa. If you hear weird breathing sounds. The dog is listener. She now has her her or white. Was it a little poodle straight poof. Yeah looking back that you look tired. I in those years that. I know that you were very exhausted. You talked about it like you. Were like getting crushed. It was insane. What we i don't know we were. I was worth thirty five and had some juice left and during twenty episodes and also my baby. I was one and it was crazy. It was like i look back and shut her at just what we did. You enjoy the shutdown down the pandemic to kind recharge a little bit or did you stay super duper busy I wouldn't say joy. I mean like yeah. Well it's one of those things where if you're like oh. I'm lucky enough that nobody in my family died. So it's okay then.

"And now back to the show so it is common for the weekend anchor to not be a performer. Correct well chevy was i right. He was mostly just that was not a performer. That much on the show was not too much. He was a little bit. Did gerald ford and some commercial common for the head writer to be the the the anchor. It is now because joseph che are the head writers. I think among us as well was. Yes seth was yes. Yeah you know what i really did. Learn that time. That i learned you know after jimmy left and then you want to do by yourself and i thought well i'm supposed to want to do it by myself right and i think we even and then at the last minute as like i don't want to along with amy and i realize that's where i learned. I don't i don't work a single right you. I kind of remember that. I remember that i that was a very late breaking decision. Very late brutally late and then it turned out to be obviously great. And you guys. That was such a exciting time for the show. You guys were so good. And it was so much fun and It was fun to have a front row seat to that it was amazing. And then you guys at that kind of right in that same year you guys were doing mean girls at the same time that i started right. We're shooting while you were update. Remember that it was crazy. Maybe i think you're probably gonna assume that you're right about that. So many things. I dragged to trash. I don't remember a lot of things that's not my biography. Tina is are you still a fan of s announced. Of course you are. I'm sure you are. Is there anybody that you just completely drawn to. That's on now that you like wanna work with or oh yeah i am. Van was really exciting. Now is my older daughter. Alice's fifteen and so we stay up and watch together so that's fun to like the at that age with her where she's into it. You know yeah i mean. Does she go back. And watch your episodes. No no no to your kids want to want to give it up. The mike kids my wife. No one thinks. I'm doing anything but counting paperclips when that's healthy. I think and they watch everything. They've won like watch parks and rec hundred percent. The office hundred percent young So yeah i mean. I'm still a fan of keenan that's never going to change. I think chris read super funny. Chris read Chris read was on will and grace and he was supposed to be a recurring character and as they were trying to make deal he got a call like a week later and like a week or two later on center. That's so crazy. Just a couple of episodes of will and grace is crazy. Tina how do you manage being so Great as that you do and like. How do you decide where to point your your your work. I mean you can be. You can do so many different things whether it's television or film or theatre musicals on camera behind camera like i would imagine it would be somewhat Burdensome try to figure out what to prioritize. I mean i think. Tv sort of where. I'm most comfortable. Because i feel like it's the most interesting place right now. There's more interesting things happening in. Tv especially for comedy. I feel like the movies is kind of glacial early paced. And it's not that. I don't wanna do movies but is also just feels like there's so many more chances for people to fuck it up the movies it takes seven years to make a movie seven years and take seven years to shoot it. Don't you always find that like there's nothing more boring in a lotta ways than making a movie and being on a movie set. It's so slow. And it's not conducive to that immediacy that you have when you're making a show when you've gotta shoot nine pages in a day and you gotta get the scene and has got. You've gotta move. It's got to be quick and that lends itself to being funnier rather than shooting one side of you know for one day and then you know you shoot like three eight page. Like the worst right. You know you did thirty rock because would jam through. You'd have those. Yeah huge pack days which is like a million scenes. And you just gotta get it. Also we all remember when we used to make twenty two episodes of things. That's like ridiculous now. Like everyone makes three episodes awards. Don't you think those days are those days. It seemed like there over. Don't don't you think the twenty two episode eight hundred episodes of show. Yeah i think so. What about what about writing writing books was is that a good time Pace for you or is that some glacial as well. I just the one time. And i remember. I was like doing thirty rock at the same time i was doing. I started it. I remember i was on the set of date. Night with steve. Carell and i just had like notebook on like you said it would write this book and then as short as that book is i felt like it nearly killed me because again don't work a single and i was so used to having a writer's room and i was like not so much that it was more work but it was just so vulnerable. If like if this book comes out and people are like who is a hundred percent my fault. It's one hundred percent a rejection of me. Personally it's not a novel. It's just like here's who what my deal is. And if people were like boo it. I've never felt so nervous about anything. I walk into a grocery store and people go boo and sure because they've seen your work. That's tina lewis. Go ahead a old person bathroom by the way you should know. You should know so. This is my my home booth and these are actually handled for a bathtub. No joke because usually when i record when i record my real view is upstanding up and i like to lean and hold on so i had the guy get these. They are for somebody who needs help getting in and out of a tub now how much harder or what. What would you have to navigate to become to do what you do today. If you were starting out in your twenty two today trying to get into comedy faulk right you. Yeah advice right like not even advice just like what would you do to yourself. How would you do it if you were graduating. I'm not necessarily saying. Hey to young renters out there. Listen literally what would you do. Yeah that's a good question. what would i do. I probably would be trying to blow up on tiktok or something right. I would be cutting out the middleman which listen. It's worked well in porn anymore. Seems like i mean. Unless i'm wrong. It seems like people on tiktok really want to be in television or film and the people intelligent film aren't making that money anymore so they wanna go blow up on tiktok. Don't you feel that way. Yeah i think broadcast. Tv especially doesn't mean like to my kids. That doesn't mean anything to them like. They.

Hollywood Won’t Quit the Golden Globes, Despite No Black Members and a Corruption Scandal
"Maybe this'd year's awards ceremony is wrapped in controversy because of the composition of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is the group that gives out the Golden Globe Award. Unlike the Academy Awards, which are given out by the academy that's about 6000 people. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is about 90 people, and they're all reporters. There, guys like me, men and men and women like me reporters that cover entertainment and they're the ones that give, you know, decide and give up The Golden Globe awards, but The controversy is here that it was learned that not a single member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association astonishingly is a person of color. And you know that may account for why movies like the Five Bloods the, uh, movie about my rainy my Rainey's black bottom. The movie about cash is playing Sam Cooke and This meeting of this four legendary black leaders of the sixties. Why why all these movies that are black oriented movies were not even nominated. When? In fact, they're some of the best movies of the year, you know, So there is a lot of controversy about this Golden Globes being exclusively white. S so you know, we'll see how that's gonna play out if if it does at all tonight. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler to Host 2021 Golden Globes From Separate Coasts
"The loosest show award season the golden globes air this year over a month later than usual because of the pandemic and the stars won't be packed in beverly hills drinking together because of the pandemic instead. They'll be at their homes host. Tina fey and amy poehler won't even be together. They'll be on opposite coasts and the golden globes air sunday. Night on
Chadwick Boseman And Viola Davis Grab Golden Globe Noms
"78th annual Golden Globe Awards were the nominees were announced yesterday. For the show That's airing on the 28th of this month with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co hosting for the fourth time. I didn't notice this yesterday, but There were some snubs. Always snubs. There were some snap it up, Dubs Love is dead to me was shut out. Completely. I wasn't surprised by that. I get So I wasn't surprised because I remember. I feel like you guys weren't loving it. I feel like I liked the second season more. Then most people did. But eh, so I'm not. I'm not surprised because I didn't feel like it had the same critical acclaim that season. One did when it felt very unexpected, But I guess I would be surprised just because you think of the total Number of releases this year, which didn't seem like a ton. I don't know. I just feel like this Christina Applegate, especially and Linda Cardellini. They're just So good. There's like so much great. So many great performances out there. I get it if they were nominated in the first season, it's like, OK, we already did you let's move on to the next person Ma Rainey's black bottom, which I just watched last weekend. Did not get a best picture nomination. But Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis did get acting nods. I think that's accurate. Sure it was You know, I know it was. I believe it was a play, right? Yes, And it felt like you were watching a play. It felt very Like what? That's a weird thing to happen. But if you're watching a play, you kind of have a different suspension of disbelief. Sure, oftentimes than you do in the, you know a movie. So, but Violet Davis outstanding. Chadwick Boseman. They did a dedication to him. Also at the end of that movie, by the way,
Snubs and surprises from this year's Golden Globe nominations
"The globe. Nominations happened and boy. They'd seemed a mess. How do you feel hi. How are you feeling about words and being back. I guess i'm glad to have award season back though isn't it. We can discuss specific to these nominations. I feel a little bit like charlie brown with the football because every year we talk about make fun of the hollywood foreign press association. And let's be clear we're going to continue to make fun of them. They are traditionally. It's a small group of international journalists. Who do not have a lot of renown really know outside of the fact that they are in this mysterious priests small group of people. They really like celebrities or their definition of another other thing. We'll discuss and their star fuckers and they give nominations to people they want in a room rather than a merit or at least our interpretation of merit. It seems like to win an award. You just have to go to as many parties as possible and then think the association from the stage. We know that there are always bad. Choices always mysterious traces. We're always like what is going on. Who are these people. Why do we do this. But i would say even for the hollywood foreign press association and even for a film here had some challenges aka pandemic theaters being close and far fewer films released unusual. These are real embarrassing. And i woke up just being like. Are you serious. We have to do this again. Like come on yeah i. It's hard to know we've gone through looking glass or not some of these. I think we're fairly standard and expected in their plenty of movies that i'm sure we'll be talking about when we get to the oscar nominations in a couple months but there were a handful of nominations. What what. I will generously called the surprises. That just took my breath away. That i i think even in my wildest dreams i could not have imagined the fbi concocting so. Let's just talk about them because this award show is happening really soon. It's february twenty eight. It's gonna be hosted by. Amy poehler and tina fey. It's going to be on nbc. And so we're going to actually having awards season to cover for real for real. I think we have to start with the jared leto nomination for the little things. This is probably the single biggest. W t.f of this collection and it's funny because when we talked about the little things on the show last week i think we both walked away from the little things thinking. Jared leto is pretty entertaining in it. And maybe rising to the challenge of this camp script and that being said i. I never considered him. A worthy report surprised to see this nomination. I enjoyed watching him in the little things in the context of the little things which was not a film that worked at all and so at least someone was doing something you know and i was talking with friends about it. There's like a really a nice like vintage. This is bad feeling to the little things that i found pretty comforting. You know it's like it's not like someone just made a twitter thread into a movie on an iphone and like someone wrote a script and they tried to do this old ninety staying. And then jared leto is doing the weird villain and having too much fun with it. It's like i know what's happening here even if it's not working and and i'm glad to have it back. I do not know that it needed to rise to the level of golden globes ovation especially because the golden globes supporting category does not differentiate between drama and comedy in some of the comedy. Nominations things get wild. But that's because you're kind of you're filling it out there some extra slots. A lot of people didn't get nominated in supporting actor. Jared leto like weird joke of serial killer. I think he's right. Can we talk about that for a second. This is dangerous rabbit hole to go down. I have no idea. The truth is. I don't know i think you're meant to believe that he did. Not if you haven't seen this movie. Sorry for spoiling it for you. It's unspoiled in many ways because it has an ambiguous ending of sword. I- i- i- jared. Leto obviously is has won an academy award. He is a very famous person has been celebrated. He's also like kind of a joke. You know like. I really enjoy him as a performer. A famous person. But he's kind of a joke. I mean he's he so Has all of the pretensions. And absurdity of the method actor who sort of you know pulling pranks on his cast members by trying to get into character and so outside and so masking his beauty all the time with these ridiculous roles you know like in the little things that character has like a is is fat and walks with a limp and why it's just pure actually affect nation and the role is actually affectation and the asia was impressed by that or impressed. By the idea of having jared sit in on their award show. But jared. Leto is not tom hanks. For example someone who did not get knocked out.
Golden Globes postponed until Feb. 28 amid coronavirus pandemic
"Season arrived a little bit later this year. But with the upcoming Golden Globes it's in full swing. The Golden Globes postponed due to CoV it 19 pandemic is now set to take place. Sunday, February 28th with two of my favorite people host Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Cool. You just can't go wrong there. Ted Danson Is the Mayor of Los Angeles in New TV Show
"Mr mayor is new. Show from rubber karla faye and features a lot of fantastic people and the featuring of a lot of fantastic people is reason to watch it. It's ted danson as the new mayor of los angeles and this is just another one where we're timing is so bad really You know if you are in los angeles you are well aware of what having a somewhat. Bumbling somewhat ineffectual mayor or even having let's just say a mayor whose track record is mixed. Let's just say that. Let's say. Garcetti did some things that the beginning of the pandemic that seemed to be good and then not so much lately. That's an it is it. I'm trying to be tempered. We've definitely had a lot of evidence of what happens in a major city if the mayor is not perfect and so i found myself really kind of unable to laugh at a show where it's like. Ha ha ha. The mayor of los angeles is job is to go to mall. Openings and celery appearances your results on that one may vary as los angelino or at least a los angelino transplant. I also kind of got the feeling that tina fey and rubber karloff. Not so much with the knowing. Anything about los angeles and twenty twenty. The jokes are all really really lazy. Really really facile jokes about california. That in some cases are are two decades old our colleague. Ingo king reviewed it for us and she notes that one of the funniest jokes involves the other candidates who run for mayor against ten danson's character and you stop and realize that the joke that's being made about the other candidates including gary coleman's ghost and a libertarian. Porn star all relate to a recall election. That was fifteen years ago. I mean that is just not finger on the pulse and so all of these things if the show were funnier. It'd be funnier but let's not forget that. Mr mayor was originally conceived as thirty rock spin off that was going to be set in new york featuring alec baldwin reprising his role and baldwin was negotiating for the better part of a year per sources and when he backed out producers went out to ted danson. Ted danson lives in los angeles and did not want to relocate to new york so they moved the show to los an- to being set in los angeles and removed any traces of of its ties to thirty rock. So there's that in the back of your mind

I actually no I have a a group of. SNL Lady friends that we. It's like. Amy Poehler Maya Rudolph original draft on I guess. Are we talk every day Paula. Pell we re talk a hundred times a day gills there my gaels. Yeah yes until I can. Can Lord Gail away from you long. been the plan and my kids. My older daughter has a phone. She's she's on it. She's talking her friends. Yeah how do you protect them from. What's so terrible out there? I think the kids growing up like in schools have rules about it. Yeah well my little one. It does not have a phone and what is he as you think you should have a phone. Well I think it depends on the kid. My older kid was like twelve and that was okay. My younger one. I I WANNA say thirty eight. She's trouble she's trouble. But I think kit kids doc young. They're like we know where they get the whole thing like it's forever it's for everyone it's for because that's what I think. My generation struggles the most with going on like I said that online and not now anyone can see that and that's forever we don't get that not at all. No Uh speaking extemporaneously is like the most dangerous thing a person can do in two thousand twenty s is like talk without a script because you get in trouble. Ah Somebody so. Let's talk about one of the things that amazed me one of the Times. I think I was going to interview. You're in the middle of literally creating. You're going to do for the first time that night the Sarah Palin routine routine and there was something going on with your daughter it was. Yeah it was. I spent what was probably the apex probably the craziest craziest day of a crazy time in my life. When we made the show thirty rock we worked sixty seventy hours? A week and oprah had very very kindly agreed to be on the shows going to shoot film all day on Saturday and also that it had come to pass the days before that that that Saturday night I was going to go play Sarah Palin the first time for the first time and and then the next day was my daughter's third birthday party and I was like absolutely I'm going to make the cake. Everybody here's one thing. If you're young mom I will tell you. They literally don't remember all the things the birthday parties they don't remember her. And aw I was GONNA say. Don't even start to sit Louis about six or seven. You start to remove all that stuff. You're doing to win three and yeah you're doing it for yourself. Yeah you're doing it for yourself so it doesn't matter how good the cake is. It doesn't matter if you made the cake it's fine so you you didn't even seem to be nervous that I I that you were doing that that first night where you really nervous it. I think I weirdly was not. I was probably more nervous that you were there and we needed to get. It did have an episode earlier in the morning that you were there where I started laughing uncontrollably and I had to shoot one little thing without you and I started laughing uncontrollably at a very stupid joke where I was supposed to be asleep on the guy next to me in the plane and then I get woken up on my sleep. I say no grandma. No and we never know why I started the giggles. And they were like couldn't couldn't stop and they were like listen Oprah's coming in like an hour you've got to put together a in the dressing room and I was looking at Tate News tapes of Sarah Palin China sound assist sound like her and Oprah said to me like I'm concerned for you like this might be too much and I was like when Oprah Winfrey tells you might be too much sit down sit down and I in hindsight now that that time in my life is over where it was like. We can do everything we can go do the show and then I'll be. I can remember of like a feeling that now I know was just cortisol. Just spiking like a tight chest front and back and Cortisol because that show was thirty rock was a lot of challenging people challenging circumstances and I think that there were days where I'm like I feel it eating my heart cortisol. Cortisol is burning away my heart and so I don't feel that anymore. I have other shows now. I'm not in them and I feel feel that that's good. You know what I love about you. Is that first of all did you. You didn't know particularly that first day that the Sarah Palin Gig. I think that that thing was gonNA turn into a thing and the thing and the thing did at night. All I knew was people thought I look like her. I don't even work there anymore. And I don't think people realize that that and I've joked and said that I felt like it was my a prayer for Owen. meany moment that was like everything in my life had been leading up to me to be able to do that and one thing I was thinking about that and about balance in general and the reason why I wasn't that scared was I think because other parts of my life were and balance I felt like it goes terribly. I'll just go home and my family's there that's right you know. I was able to have perspective of like doc I will say that is the reason why gale and I and if you were gonNA steelers the best friend why she is the best friend because she always actually really loved her life and so never wanted any parts of mind. You can only have friends who are truly your friends who are not jealous of you. Who Don't want what you have? who only what they have? And they're happy for what you have and that's why I have. I also would be remiss if I didn't mention my best. A friend from home growing up as friend Marlin Kimball who is very much that she's a teacher in Pennsylvania and she we celebrate each other and again I never feel like yeah. She's like well. I wish all this weekend I might have blown it. I probably should have brought it this week. Probably should've brought you. Yeah Yeah Yeah So. Do you have lots of girlfriends. 'cause you have the Saturday night live group that you talked to all the live friends who now now. That's old friends. That's over many years ago. I have my old hometown. Summer Theater friends have all my work friends. My friend easy I used to work with flew in from La. Because not because of me. But Yet yes I wanted to ask. First of all you are going to be hosting being the Golden Globes aiming are GonNa go by going back next year. So here's what I'll be tracking next December. Ember I'll be tracking those points. Yes back to track district for the big event. Do you think I think as a comedian that there are some jokes. Some things that shouldn't be joked about. Is there anything off limits..

"Oh look at you. Yeah you left your Parker the back doc you look at the park on the back to was the coal little shocking. I mean I walked out of the hotel this morning and I went. Hey I did the same thing I did the same thing and I lived in Chicago all those years five years but you lose your tolerance. The difference is the differences to that. When I was in Chicago I literally went from garage to garage? I worked fourteen hour days. I went unheeded aggressions actually anyway. We're welcoming you here thank you. I'm so happy to be here so I had some fun yesterday because we both Love Minneapolis for the same reason. We both love ourselves some Mary. Tyler Moore we do we do so we had to go to the statue with our. It was checking the realness berets where Ghana after. Aw that love that. Why did she mean so much to you? I mean you know I think only in hindsight site to do I appreciate what a new kind of show that was was was on. It came on the year I was born right. So I'm born in nineteen seventy. It came on there and so that seeing that representation of a woman working a show about her at work and her work friends and all that stuff that was given for me a and I think that definitely influenced me of what I thought. Grown up life was right. We all wanted that apartment. I drove by the House. It's so pretty there yet. They're the exterior of the house. Somebody's house you should probably knock on the door. I didn't but yeah and just everything about it you know just like I definitely obviously from very young myself that I'm gonNA live in. I'm going to work on. I live in a big city. Those were the things I dreamed about and large part because of that show. I wanted a department like that. I even had oh near my refrigerator. Shed an asthma. Yes yeah also her outfits were gorgeous. Missile was gorgeous. Yeah I started wearing vests because of Mary did. Yeah yeah the whole thing really important to have role models like that and then when I started in Chicago and people started writing asked me for money all the time I thought the WHO would I write to Mary. Did you right there in. Nineteen who who do. I feel that I feel close enough to on television that I would say right Mary. I'm having a problem. Could you help me with my rent. But here's the deal. I know that you have been a WW member not just as you are ww lifetime lifetime member. Aw thank you. I hope people what that means. I joined in New York in head lived in Chicago and really enjoy. Enjoy the food in Chicago and the big coats. Yes and then I got to New York and I. We took our coats off and I was like what happened but what happened here and I was sort of like. Oh I think it's time to sort of focus on this before I get out of hand. So why did you choose it been I think I Joseph and I went with my friend Paula. My friend hope. I don't think she'll mind that I said my friend Paula Pell. WHO's a hilarious comedian? We were both writer. You Know Paula Pell. Aw and we joined together. We were writers now and we used to go to meetings. When you talk about connection like it was old school days we would go the meeting over a jewelry store and eighty sixth and Broadway and the points were in books? I still have the books. You'd look up. You know like bananas. Anna's two points forever to me. I can't Abana can't be zero points. I can't and I ended up. We both succeeded on the program and I lost like thirty pounds that as mostly stayed often in many ways kind of changed my career a little bit now it was like Oh okay back now you can be on TV which is terrible but also like I said yes without it worked out and you went on not only that we were talking earlier and those of you who are on at note the best part about weight watchers actresses community. And there's now an APP called connect where people are posting all the time I was saying. It's the only place you can go and a post your picture of yourself at four hundred eighty seven pounds bikini people say way to go girl tastic. We're with as you I find going on. I actually do go on there. Sometimes people don't know he's going there yes and you don't know it's me. I may have given your salad a thumbs up. You don't know that I find it really rewarding like connect. Yes ma'am not by name but yes and your staff looked it up. And they're like we saw you. Three followers like Yep perfect perfect. It's exactly how I want it but but I don't do twitter and stuff like that because I feel like I can be so toxic and so sometimes on a day where I'm feeling very stressed or like I feel like the urge. I wish I could go on twitter twitter and say something back to somewhat or whatever I go on connect and I just spend like fifteen minutes saying positive things to people and I feel so like refilled and good as opposed to like leaving a mean thing on twitter. Yeah people get into some personal stuff on connect they do yes. I've seen people talking a blake. Do you can put videos on there now. Too and I want to hear my spent quite a while watching lady older lady talking but her we listen to us talking about like how her like. She's facing an illness. Her mother had was telling her like you've never going to do it and like community was rallying around her like it gets deep on. Yes but you don't go deep you just on their you. Cool whip on bananas guys that kind of stuff it also. I heard you posted a strawberry something. Yeah I'd take strawberries and bananas and I put frozen cool whip on it and a little little chocolate syrup and I tell myself it's banana split. Sometimes yeah yeah only seven points. Tell me this does it does it make Gad does it does it excite you thrill you please you or we reward. You are all of them that they're so many millions of young Liz Lemon's out there in the world and look up to all the strong women that you've created through your characters. Oh that's very kind of you to say yes. I always thrilled to meet as somebody who says that they were inspired to become a writer or an actor or something because they saw me and amy on. SNL or they saw thirty rock. I think it's great eight a lot of times. I can see them coming. Sometimes I assume coming. I'm like you look exactly like me at twenty two and yes hello like it's always a lady looks glasses they look exactly but yeah. I think it's great. I think it's great and I have to say. I heard that you really like the poster that we shared announcing I guess line up with a closed for the tour till I tell one. I'm so sick of this. I would like this to be how we repopulate the world. Just we go to an island. These swimming in the Rock Starts Society over the poster. So I hear you're in a reboot stage now. Yes set me well. It was interesting because I was doing the workbook on my way here. And stuff on the plane and I'm forty nine. I'll be fifty next May. Are you feeling about that Thank you I feel okay. I feel fine. Yeah I'm trying to. I'm trying to make myself say I'm forty nine and not be like I'm fifty like because I'm not yet But you know it. It's only gonNA get better. I hope so I think so. It is it is and I will tell you the only number that actually gave me pause was sixty but when I turned fifty my dear friend. Angela was still alive. And Maya said to me. Babe the fifties or everything you've been meaning to be it's everything you I thought you might do. This is this is it. It's coming in. You're not even there yet. Yeah great okay. I agree it. It was because of the book is asking You your intention and stuff and I was like I feel like I m Emmett and age where all the things I ever thought.

I was like to have on sitcom, and and I got the opportunity to. To be in a Tina Fey pilot, and it was up. It was called. What was I going cabinet college? It was for FOX. And you know, when you're a fulltime writer on a show. You can't also be an actor. So at a at a pick one and at the time, we didn't know that the Chelsea show would be ending. We didn't know what the future held, and I had to make that really tough call 'cause like I was gonna steady paycheck and I loved that job. A love seemed like such a fun show. It was I love the people. We laughed all day every day. But I got that's a fucking. It was possible hurt my heart so bad. I was like because I love those people are like family, and I and I love just beat like being a part of it. And I love having a steady paycheck, and it was one of those things where you're just like, I gotta take the risk. I might. Fall flat on my face. But I didn't come out here. I Come didn't out. come out come out here to play it safe into. You know, the easy thing is to just take the job. I mean, stick with your job and take the paycheck and and be comfortable. Like, I gotta I gotta take gotta take. I take the leap. I gotta do it. And maybe I will regret it. But Sutphin inside of me was like, you gotta go. And that was the hardest thing in the world. She didn't want me to go. And you know, and I just I just like I love you. But I gotta do this Anna sizing right now about a scenario, which does does not exist Chelsea sitting at her desk and you enter office and Chelsea picking apart which she doesn't like about Tina Fey. I know it doesn't. I know. It doesn't end. I'm fantasizing about Pige. Oh, gosh. She tells the man for those people that don't know just know her as like a personality, she was fucking bitingly funny on very fucking witty and smart, oh, she dist. And and I remember her getting fight with another comedian. Really? I won't say his name. Oh and comedy club. No, no, no, no in life. Okay. Like verbal fight. No. The comedian was doing the comedy club. And she was doing the arena. Okay. And they were staying at the same hotel. She was having drinks outside the comedian walked in and saw her and. When over to say hi to and he was a big movie star comedian big median when over to say hi to and I guess she just kinda was like, she's partying. And she was like, oh, hey, what's up kind of? I guess he felt bluer off and comment on Twitter about her really remember talking to him. And he said that and I was like I would not do that in my head. I was like, right. Well, fuck with Chelsea. She I just seen enough of her stand up to and then she just replied to his comment and just. Annihilated him. Oh, we're really, and and then the hordes of Chelsea lately fans just attack this guy. And he was around then. Yeah. Remember the tour with her at all? I I did a couple of shows I would have gone on tour with her. But I ended up leaving at the time where her new tour was starting. So I love I love not only a paycheck and a job. But I knew I would have to walk away from her tour as well. Did you get to work with Tina Fey? So I did that pilot, and it was amazing so fun. It was supposed that this is the irony of life..

"Office is winding down. And this is just bananas. The chairman of NBC entertainment tells Tina Fey who's like, you know, comedy bodice Tina Fey like I don't even she's in her own cash later isn't as no one. I don't know how to talk about. And and he says to her I want you to write a pilot for Ellie Kemper like I don't even know what to say that is so amazing. Did you freak out? Well, I mean that is still flattering first of all I do not know exactly what went down. I would imagine. He threw a number of people, you know, who he might be interested in making show at so. So let's like got to be realistic about that. But I are you kidding me? Like, I know it first of all first of all so Robert Carlyle, Tina Fey are writing. I'm they she created thirty rock. He was the show runner. I think he was Showrunner. He was the executive producer. They were handed hand. Secondly, I adore that. So in the first place, the thirty. The rock is the most incredible show you've ever seen on television. I I mean, it's brilliant. That is there on its own and then separately. I so loved tina's bossy pants I loved as Sarah Palin like all of it. Right. So she like you just said she's in her own in good way on her own plane. So that I okay that first meeting with them. I have never been sooner recipients. Were you so nervous? Of course, you wording, these icons in your in your you just don't wanna mess it up. And and so I get I'm anxious person. I get nervous for a whole bunch of stuff that felt like a new a new and previously unexperienced type of nervous. I cannot imagine. And was this like super initial like, we don't even have an idea, or we have a very developed was I think it was initial maybe they had the idea didn't tell it to me then. But they they were it was it was like, I was told it was sort of a general meeting just to meet them. It was I remember it because it was in may. So I think the office had definitely just ended that year and thirty record think ended earlier that I think they entered into Semper net year. So it to meet felt like a general meeting. But then only a couple months later, I had dinner with them again. And they and they presented the actual idea that they had which which I definitely thought was not the actual idea dying to hear what did you think? I mean in our lives we. I've never seen a story. Like, this is so it's just bald Hurley, and what what were you think rethinking this is a disaster. Or this is brilliant or something between to get was. Of course, I made it about me at the my initial reaction was to make about me. And I was like they're definitely testing me. Because if I take him. I am a fool and that was the answer. So I was like, okay. And then when they sent me the Scranton realized, oh, they're not you're in L. You are an idiot. But in a different way, they did. Right. The show. And here is the what I felt so nervous about the premise because it's not for anyone listening. Doesn't know what it's about. It's about a young woman who was kidnapped when she was fourteen in held underground in a bunker by crazy man, played by Jon Hamm, and then fifteen years later, she's rescued by the FBI of. Obviously to session..
