"Our good friends from rec, I'm picking on Sheffield United in the fourth round. Again, this second time these two teams played first game finished three three, so this is the replay. 28th Mitch hits for raccoon their first real chance, Paul Mullen, drags it wide. A little bit later on, big opportunity here for explain to me how you don't score this as a striker. Because you didn't pass the ball. What are you doing magazine? What are you doing, Mecca? Pass the ball. He's keeping Rex a minute. That's what he's doing the Sheffield United attacker into the second half. It was the students in stores. Yeah. Just check the other united up one O this is usually game set match when you're planning against a lower division team and you finally put the ball in the back of the net. More will come. Especially at home, but the reaction was good. Yeah, yeah, 50 or second tier, 7 minutes later, we got a penalty for racks and palm oil and pulled down in the box. He steps up, cool is gonna like down the middle. Go ahead super Paul. 71st minute. More from racks them, yes, another penalty. You kidding me. I'm not defending this game was atrocious. On both sides of the ball. And then you blew it. Oh, Paul mullin, the second penalty, always tough to convert one one deep into stoppage time mistake at the back, correct some Billy sharp to one. Can't feel the united. More like Billy, not so sharp on the defensive end, tried to pull in that back with his knees. I have no idea what happened and then that hurts. Makes it three one Sheffield United, wreck some Cinderella run ends, but they become the first non league team her in 68 years to total 15 goals, at least 15 goals in their FA Cup run, historic. Here's a look at the 5th round matchup, which include U.S. men's national team fans. Leads against Fulham. Should be a tasty one there to craven cottage. Let's run it back, her. Check in on him way of playing for Leo in the French cup. We started left back against Leon. Had to take a penalty in the shootout of the underside of the crossbar. Oh no, Timmy. They got them all messed up, playing defense now. His head's not in it. Lil eliminated in the round of 16 after a two, two draw in regulation. 22 year old Tim weah, here's a look at his heat map recently with Leo, who are out of the cup, but 6. In the French top flight. Robin will get onto the end of it, hatches there in the middle. It's hatched with a chance. It's when the goal. That's a decent cross all the way to. Gets the door. Lavella two goals gets this one into the back post. And it's 5 goals as Taylor cardiac scores. She believes cup kicks off one week from today next Thursday in Orlando, USA against Canada. Here's the 22 player roster Leto and anos key pick for the tournament. Alex Morgan Megan Rapinoe in no Sophia Smith still recovering from that foot injury. For more on the U.S. women's national team, we call on our friend and colleague Jeff soup. You can check out his latest sort of actually over ESPN dot com dropped his latest article yesterday, Jeff. Welcome back to the show. Great to have you. Yeah, thanks for having me again. I appreciate it. All right, so as you just saw there, we were looking at the she believes cup roster for the U.S. women's national team. How close do you think this roster is the one will actually see at the World Cup this summer? I think it's very close. I mean, the bubble has thinned out lock on and said last month in New Zealand that his list of 23 that he'll take to the World Cup is down to 32. You can pretty much name them off at that point when you've got 20 four in camp. You've got still a few injured that are major injuries that you would expect to be in the mix. So I think really this is a group that's close, maybe not exact, but we're at that point where after she believes cup, we only have one window until he's going to name a World Cup roster. So I think we're pretty close at this point. You say the bubble is thinned. Tell us who's on it. So who needs a really good she believes cup to lock down their World Cup spot? Yeah, I think there's a couple sides of the bubble, right? I think there are people who are just on the bubble, maybe by way of some of those injuries and you could argue maybe as a Trinity Rodman on the bubble. I think she's done enough to prove that she should and will be at the World Cup. You know,

"Drive around with a treble at ten and the base on zero. However great our young players are that's what we're watching. It's travel on ten. It's based on zero team and ultimately I've said this before and I want to take another question we benefit and love your questions. But this is where this is where Greg, great coach, a lot of great characters also a challenge because we have young players and an untested coach that you can have young players, you really do need to stay very says the balance, but often there you spell that by having a really widely Uruguay I've done it for years. We have a really tabora is a really experienced veteran almost a Rory Hodgins coach. We have the opposite. We have youth and we have youth and that's it. We're riding towards the World Cup of the clips. And I think it's going to change how can we, how can we get the best of it? Jacqueline manion can be with us. Tell us where you are and what your question. She's not on. Okay. Taylor loftis. Come be with us. Where are you from? What's your question? Taylor, this is a glitchy at tonight. We are suffering, but we'll move to Stephen sobel, doubles. Are you there? Can be with us if you are us. We're just going to. I'm here. I'm here. Questions. God speed. Third time's a charm. I love being with you, Stevie saves. What's your question? So sometimes I think we get so caught up in the fancy interplay, the sexy dribbles on the sideline. I think we neglect to acknowledge that in concave. You look at the success Canada's having so much of it is driven by just pure speed from Buchanan from Davies, even from Jonathan David. And then you look at consistently over the past few games who are the best players are on the U.S. or most dangerous players. And the tends to be Anthony Robinson or Tim weah. And I'm just wondering at what point, you know, when you have all those burners in the team, what I mean, what should Greg bear holder be doing to try and take advantage of that speed and what does someone like Joe raina have to do to break in when there's someone so fast ahead of doing so much? She asked to be fit. I mean, it's a geo singing the national anthem in one of the first games of Concacaf flinched, and I think called the gave himself a terrible injury. Barely kicked a ball since Gio is a geo is a remarkable footballer will be with us in this cycle year will be with us, please God. For many cycles, you're right. Speed does kill in Concacaf, but certainly Canada play a deeply proficient football Canada a really well managed system. They have a system. I never believe my God, the belief of that team herdman has done a remarkable job mentally with that collective a fierce collective and we are asking a great question and David I don't know what you think about that just like. Well, yeah. I mean, look, I'm an international football, which we've said so many times. It's lower standard than club football. Do you have to accept? And therefore, there are certain things that over deliver in international football. One of those is strength. So set pieces being very physical and that's something which the U.S. wrote, the old U.S. men's national team wrote that to success. They were very physical team. Of your but they're also a very quick team and very fit. And they ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran. They weren't the most skillful of players. You know, I'm thinking about that game against Italy in 2006. The eventual champions at the World Cup when the U.S. beat them or drew with them, like the 2006, the Germany World Cup at gelsenkirchen where the U.S. just performed an amazingly against Italy. So it's a. Speed. You look at why Raheem Sterling, even though he had terrible club form, played really well for his country, played really well for England. That's just using him as an example because he's a player that a lot of you follow and watch in the Premier League but speed is always going to be successfully international football. And yes, sometimes when you're intricate, it takes away from your fast players. Yeah. The nutmeg thing is fascinating, Steve, it's like it was very much in the first part of the cycle. That was what got us excited, especially in training. Look at the megs. They're doing a couple of megs. I mean, the reality is, if you look at this, this whole cycle, a year ago, we were feeling ecstatic. We were feeling euphoric or players had moved on mass to Europe. I think our big learning as fans is, European football's hard, it's a grind. It's so bloody difficult to you're going to have fleetingly great moments, but to be consistently bloody good, which is what European football demands of you know most of our plans have over suffered from injuries. Inconsistent form, sporadic moments of greenness, western has really been tenacious and has plead himself into the form of his life. I started watching Tyler Adams and I'm like, oh my God, the U.S. team without Tyler Adams. How is that man not nominated? There's at least one of the he wasn't even one of the four players of the year in the annual voting, which I find shocking. But, you know, everyone else has had their ups their downs. They've met our dream to met their reality. And the nutmeg stuff and the flicks. You don't win world cups with nutmegs flicks and flair. You win world cups with a system with an idea. I love the old idea, which was that we will, you know, we will moise it. We will be a fierce collective. The sum of our parts will be greater than the individual pieces. But then we do have kids starting for Barcelona for Juventus for Chelsea for the teams we've dreamt of. I think the biggest challenge right now is to have a coherent sense of how we want to play. And the thing that is never really discussed, and I don't know the answer to this, I won't be clear. But I'm fascinated by it and now we have young Americans playing on the best teams in the world for the first time ever on the men's side. And they are playing for the best coaches in the world. Yeah, you look at Matt Turner's going to go to arsenal. We have the Manchester City second string goalkeeper. We have players under two whole Juventus at Barcelona. What they're hearing the locker room. I wonder now the U.S. coach has to match up to tactically. The conversation has to match their, that then they've moved to MA and PhD level understanding of football. And I wonder if our system has adjusted to speak in their language. And I think it's something I need to dig into more of be able to report back. But I think it's genuinely with the development which we've lowered of our players that does seem to be some kind of incoherence there. And I would love to know what the reality is. God speed to you, doubles. Come be reverse Curt shepherd. Tell us where you are and watch your question. Hey, Raj, coming from Great Falls, Montana thrilled to be on here. Shepherd, I'm raising my glass in the direction. When you come up, I'll be glad to buy you your first third butt of the day. I won't be candid. I've moved from birds of which I drank 7 during the game. And on the second round of this video, I love you for all the same. That works with me. My question is, it's pretty clear that this U.S..

"Respective teams in just over a month's time. All right, one more, it's never run it back. A beautiful assist here from Tim weah, his fourth of the season for Lille. How about that hurt? He was a menace all game. That touch right there to set up the pass is crucial. Good for his touch at speed. No chance for defender. Nice little easy finish. Timothy way of creating that all by himself. Yeah, beautiful first touch, huh? You got that mail locker? No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That's why I've been hosting shows and not doing your job for the last few years. Unis Musa. Oh, let's see how you feel about Copa del Rey performances now. Younes Musa with a goal in an assist for Valencia. I will say it's good that he got an assist, but the dummy on this play is better than the actual assist. Look at the dummy. That's the actual play right there. That's what it is. You and his Musa was good though. You know what? People are gonna jump on me for this, but he reminds me of, you scored the goal right here on the rebound, but the way he drives the ball, how strong he is with it, reminds me of a Darlington nag. Offensive Darlington nag can be, but he's got a little bite to it. Valencia's opponent, what tier were they in? So now we know, okay, okay. It's not all about us then with his first assist of the league season for iax. I mean, we're handing out a cis off the generously on football America. Wow. It's an assist. Whatever. Still the best defense of midfielder in all of Concacaf. Look at that. That one is called the board. I don't know, bro, you do ask the wrong guy. I don't even know what you just said. All right, so things going well, Friends, I'm not about as they are not going well for JJ my CSC finally gets a start in the Copa del Rey for her dad and he gets injured after just 25 minutes, more frustration, her. Yeah, I'm hoping it's not that same injury he had. That took him out pretty much all of the pre qualifying tournament in wa la Kara, talented player. He's got some injury problems. He needs a change of scenery again, I guess. Yeah, it doesn't look like the move from was the was the right one, his European adventure, not off to a great start. Then off injured in the Copa del.

"Be a very intimidating opponent. Timothy way has said they wanted it more. Both teams wanted. I don't know if that's the case. It didn't look like the U.S. men's national wanted any part of that game after the 20th minute. It's a fair result, her. Come on, let's not get exaggerated here. They had over 60% possession. They had more than shots. More of the ball. And they had more shots. They were more dangerous than Jamaica. In Jamaica, they had more dangerous than Jamaica. Did you not see the callback goal? Did you watch the first half? Did you watch the first half of all we've ever heard about this team is complained that they get off to a slow start. They score 11 minutes into the game. They got plenty of chances in the first half. You don't spend the better the play and the better the chances? Yeah, do go look at the possession stats. Go look at the statistics. You don't think they had more of the ball? What game were you watching? That doesn't mean that you can have more of the ball and not be the dangerous and the more dangerous team. Please. Exactly. You can make the case that Jamaica might have deserved more, but you can't tell me that the U.S. didn't deserve at least to point out of that performance. They didn't deserve a point out of that. Especially giving, especially giving the context, no western McKinney. Christian political only for the last 16 minutes Robinson. You don't go into games with, hope, by the way, there's no western McKinney. By the way. You don't think it's a fair result. Do you think it's a good result? Do you know what driving? You can't say Jamaica. You've said you don't think it's a fair result. Do you think it's a good result? It's a great result. Given the circumstances, yes, I will agree with you there. Coming off coming off Mexico, getting four points in this window without the players that you had going to Jamaica. Yes. It's a very good result. The point. All right, let's bring in not Taylor swelling. A third man into this wrestling match to see if we can decide anything here on football on Medicare. Thank you for playing along here. I know we've entertained you there for at least the last ten 15 minutes Taylor. Let's talk about this game against Jamaica and the lineup specifically because I felt like and I don't know if you guys sensed this while we were on Twitter on social media in the few minutes before the game. "Make a game play Tuesday night at the office. In Kingston, a place that has been tricky for a lot of teams to be fair, but definitely for the United States historically, got off to a good start, though her 11th minute Tim weah opens the scoring. Yeah, maybe a little bit fortunate here, way I won't care. It's a sweet little finish. Look, defenders got a body. It's got to clear that out, do something he doesn't. Timothy Wayne stays with it, after posting in. Nothing fortunate about the Jamaican response mckell Antonio from about 30 yards, hurt. Yeah, okay, he's got like 50 plus goals between Premier League and what is now Jamaica. None of them outside the box the first and it's an absolute hammer. Look at this, off the bounce, and this is those Nikes. I think it's a Nike ball. They just fly off and look. Zack Stepan no chance. The one one at the hat into the second half. Bobby Reid. How does he miss it hurt? I have no idea. That is Chevy salar. Seth, you would put this away, you have to put this away. It's got to be two one, Jamaica at this point. Huge chance miss for the jamaicans to go ahead at home and one they would come back to ru 84th minute Damian Lowe's scores, her does he, a foul call against low on walker Zimmerman. Do you see it? I don't see anything. Jump ball, he got beat to good goal. Fortunate for walker Zimmerman in the U.S. men's national it's called back. Lucked out there. There's a point on the road. Let's hear from the coach. Obviously, the game was, you know, it was a rough game. Not the result that we wanted obviously coming into the game we wanted to win. We knew it was going to be difficult. And Jamaica made.

"50% past completion. So really tonight in the attacking zone, if it wasn't peppy, linking with Tim weir. It wasn't happening. That's basically it. And, you know, I don't think we got the full box. We got them forward, but, you know, I can remember in the second half couple of times Robinson going down the left hand side and just crossed us into no one. You know, so it was a yeah, it was flat tonight. It really was flat. And there's a number of things that go into it. And I wouldn't discount the field. No, no, you wouldn't. I really wouldn't. I think the feel was very interesting tonight. I know you sneer. I'm not smearing it to thing. I just love how much you love it. It's like you have a microscope up to the TV studying the blades of grass. I think there's no point beating around the bush here. That the away surfaces outside of the U.S. and Mexico in Concacaf are dramatically worse than the surfaces you'll encounter with a few exceptions and say like you weird. That's just a fact. And so the differences in all the surfaces, you know, for the most part, you know what you're going to turn up to. Now, I know everybody's talking about Croatia, Russia, and I mean, that was, I was a waterlogged pitch and a grab. That had a lot to do with it. You know, there was a weather involvement there. And I have seen the Republic of Ireland go to Serbia and play on pretty much a bog of the field. But generally speaking, you kind of know what you're going to get. It will be within a range of field states. Whereas in Concacaf, it's just they're just bad. The range is a little wider. Yeah, the range is wider, but it's all in the if this was a Venn diagram and the center part was acceptable fields. Everything is in the a circle of bad surfaces. And challenging surfaces. And tonight was tonight was really was really no different, and it was kind of hard to get your passing game together. So let's go through some of this JJ. I thought the U.S. actually started pretty brightly. I thought they began the game on the front foot. And pretty early on, what was it a tenth, 11th minute they were rewarded, a nice link up like you said between Ricardo Pepe and Tim weah and Tim Wei, we spoke about them extensively on the Mexico post podcast that we did. He's in great form. And I'm glad that he was rewarded with a goal. And one that he had to earn. Zigzagging into the box, we've talked about final third, and a lot of it has been like you just said, crosses into the box that are constantly repelled. So you sort of every once in a while, need a player who can just make something happen on his own. He did that. Yeah. Well, you say on his own. Don't Pepe set him up, but he had to then dribble around a defender. Check the keeper from a difficult angle. Come on, man. He made that play. He did a Bobby Reid decided that he would turn his back to him in some kind of weird attempt to step in front of the ball and then not do the defensive part when the ball was there to be won. And if anything, I mean, Bobby Rio was far too compliant in Tim whereas dribbling there..

"Felt as well in this one. I don't think there's not too much to argue with there. Maybe, you know, it's something bare halter has to look at in terms of obviously clearly on the road U.S. are not as they are at home. Which is normal. Which is normal, but I think it's more like maybe managing managing what happened or the energy or the mood directly after Friday night, maybe that's something as a group they need to look at and maybe not to leave themselves emotionally flat and then that leads into the physicality, which they just didn't have tonight. And they look leggy as well. They look kind of tired. Yeah, I mean, look, I went through the list of guys who were not available to them right now. Their depth for whatever we think of their depth, which we've come to think pretty highly of it. It's being tested. They're going a little bit deeper into the pool. And asking a lot from some of these guys. When work of qualifying started, we certainly thought highly of Brendan aronson, but he's playing a lot more, I think than what we had anticipated. It's every game now. He's given a significant minutes and he's being asked to run a lot a lot Riccardo peppy. He's somebody who kind of burst on the scene through this qualification period. And a lot's being asked of him. He's playing a lot, running trying to do a lot to help this team and was not super effective. In this window, did set up the goal tonight for waia, although like I said, it was I felt like that was a lot of way of doing Tim Leia things. But this was Ricardo peppy leveled out a little bit over these last two games, maybe. I still think very highly of him and think that he should still be the number 9, but these are guys being thrust into really crucial roles in really important games. And so I'm going to have to feel it out. They're going to have to field out a little bit. JJ, we've passed the halfway point of qualifying. So I thought with that, maybe we do a little quick retrospective on where we have this team so far. Is there a letter grade that you would give them? I think the way records is not good. The home record is very good. They game against Mexico gave us or give me the performance I was looking for. I'd say I'd say considering where they are on the table right now. No, albeit if Canada win tonight. You know, the perspective changes a little bit against Mexico and Edmonton in the ice taco is what they're probably expected. Whoever came up with that bravo, by the way, not bothered at all about Latino outreach in Canada. They are just absolutely giving themselves the best possible home scenario weather and crowd wise. I would say B minus overall for the U.S.. I won't be. I went straight up B I mean, look, obviously, you can't go a because there's just too many prolonged stretches where this team just doesn't look like they're on it. But ultimately, I don't know. The goal here is to qualify right now we're in really good position to do so. I saw this JJ the U.S. has more points 15 through 8 games in the final round of qualifying than they had in the entire final round of the last cycle, 12 points in ten games. All ten of the previous teams to accumulate 15 or more points through 8 games qualified for the World Cup. Now this one's a little different, obviously, because it's an octagonal, not a hex. But the point remains, if you've got 15 points through 8 games, you're doing something all right. So I'll give them, I'll give them a straight up B, but yeah, you can't go a I won't kill. I won't get on you for B minus. I understand that. But I wouldn't straight up be. In terms of the team, players, any player whose stock has really risen significantly for you from where it might have been prior to qualifying. Tim weah. Okay. My country model. And it's not that I never thought of your talent. It's not that I that I doubt doubted his, you know, his technical ability. I just never saw him never seem to see him in the right position. And he also wasn't is lately a regular first club in. He wasn't always. And there was, you know, there was times in his career where I just wasn't sure if he was going to be what we expected to be. But in this window, he's been absolutely excellent. And he's a starter for me now. So his stock has risen from his taking me from being a doubting Thomas to a start him Simon. That is what they call it. He was my, he was my honorable mention for this, mainly for what you just said that when this all started, I didn't know that I saw a place for him in the 11. Certainly on the team, but I was like, okay, maybe he's someone who, like, in the 70th, you bring on that speed and it really puts a defense on its heels. Now I look at it and think he's going to make the decision process for who starts and who doesn't. If they're all healthy, he's going to make it hard. I don't know if he's playing the ways. You can't take him out. But someone of significance is going to have to miss out. The fact that he's turned this into a really difficult decision, that's a credit to him. For me, I went miles Robinson, just because coming out of the gold cup, my feeling was, okay, he's done enough. We've seen enough now. He deserves to be on that national team. What I did not expect was that we'd be past the halfway point of qualifying. And for me, he would probably be the best offender on the national team. I didn't see that coming. And look, I don't know that we can have a conversation about how much he was missed tonight Weston McKinney as well. I think that was important. Both those guys coming in relatively good form..

And if anything, I mean, Bobby Rio was far too compliant in Tim whereas dribbling there. It was it was the beginning of a horror night for Bobby Reid. When it was a superb finish, but again, I love, I love what pappy did Andrew stepping out then create in the space and behind linking the player that was really, really good. And I thought it was only going to get better. 15 minutes, peppy had a thunderbolt. We went down the right hand side the ball was centered Pepe had a thunderbolt strike blocked and then aronson drew a good save out of their keeper. Those were two really good chances. And things are taken along nicely until out of nowhere. And there's no point saying otherwise. This is not us. We don't deserve to be zapped for saying this. This was completely a literal bored from the blue. On 22 minutes, Mikhail Antonio, with as clean a strike in a hit as you're going to see. It was a thing of beauty. I mean, an unbelievable goal. And as soon as it went in, I immediately suffered like flashbacks to Alvin Jones and sure enough, JJ, I found the stat after the game 34.2 yards out. That was mckel Antonio's gold tonight. That's tied for the second longest goal scored in the final round of World Cup qualifying in the last three cycles. And only you know who, scored one against the U.S. from further out and that was Alvin Jones from 42 yards out in that U.S. store that game. So I saw someone on our Twitter trying to blame Tyler Adams for not doing enough. He showed him inside into the traffic. 35 yards out. 34 yards out, which, by the way, is the it's also Michelangelo's longest of any of his goals for either either in Nottingham fire or West Ham or wherever. It's the furthest he's struck a senior professional goal in either international or club football. And trying to criticize Tyler Adams for sure them inside. That's exactly why you should do..

"Slows it down, takes a little torch, gets it out of his feet and gets across in. No, you may begin the procession for the boy. Well, what I was going to say was way, I think might have been my man of the match last night. You know, we talked about the ball that he played in in the first half to kind of get the tone of that game started that Pepe couldn't make contact with. But it was all night. It was all night from him down the right side. And then sure enough, he also comes on. And he is energetic. He is all the things that we thought he would be. Makes the run across goal. And, you know, I heard Taylor swam and talk about it that Christian he just kind of he's a brilliant player, like he just knows the runs to make when to make them other U.S. players, 12 men mentioned there were kind of flat footed in the box, not pulisic. He's moving. He knows where to be, flashes across the face of goal, and yes, way it plays in a perfect pass. And bang. Just like that. It's one nil, and you could feel where this was headed. Really, after that. And our friend Guillermo, I felt he got to gamble that that way is going to get that cross in. It's not going to be a shock to the near post. If anything at that tightness, the Mexican defender might get a block. I think or chores positioning is pretty bad. He's left himself with a lot to do. If he takes maybe just two steps back and to the side, he's got a chance of making that save. The ball is so good. I don't think so. I think that's back. He would have been in his net. No, no, no. If you look where he starts at the front post, is what I mean Andrew. And you watch the way he finishes. He's coming back towards the ball. I think if he's slightly more central, he's got maybe he's got a hope, but it's such a good ball. And it's such a good header. And the man in the mirror is picking the ball out in the name. So we should talk about that. If you are someone out there who doesn't think that bulletin board material is a real thing, oh, these players, how could they be it's U.S. Mexico? How could they be more pumped up for that than bulletin board stuff? That doesn't mean anything. It means everything. These guys pay attention to everything, especially in this rivalry. And what I love about this rivalry and I think what makes this rivalry so much fun, you can tell me what you think of this, because you might have a different perspective on it. I think what makes the rivalry so intense is that both sides of this, both teams come at it with an inferiority complex with the other. You know, sometimes like we've seen Yankee red sock rivalries now that rivalry has changed because the Red Sox have been so good. But for a hundred years, the rivalry was what it was because the Red Sox had an inferiority complex with the Yankees. And that made it feel a little bit one sided. This rivalry U.S. and Mexico, I feel like Mexico comes at it with inferiority complex of all the big bad U.S., most powerful country in the world. Please, this is our chance to show them they're nothing. And the U.S. come at it with a soccer inferiority complex. Oh, big band, Mexico. They think they're better than us that they, you know, that they're a soccer nation and we're not. We'll show them. We can play soccer. They both have this chip on their shoulder about the other one. And it makes these games so intense and it makes bulletin board material that much more important because they love it. The Greg bear halter when he saw that comment that Guillermo show made and I can read it to you. He probably pumped his fist and high fived every one of his coaches in that room because he couldn't wait to show the team what had been said. And the players bought into it. The fact that pulisic wrote that on his shirt, you don't think stuff like that matters to these guys in a rivalry like this. It'll show it to them, Mexico is the mirror in which the U.S. wants to see itself and wants to copy. Now a couple of things with that comment. It doesn't make first of all, it's not it doesn't fully make sense. It doesn't work. But I think part of me understands what he's saying. Mexico has ruled Concacaf for a while now. The U.S. why would why wouldn't the U.S. want to emulate that? Correct. There's part of it is that. But the other part of it is, damn, that is a bold statement to make in a year where you've lost twice to this team. Yeah. Like that's not maybe that'll come off a certain way with Mexican fans who I'm sure that comment was kind of more geared towards, but like what is a U.S. fan who's beaten you twice this year alone, supposed to think reading that comment? And what do you think players on the U.S. are going to think? And you could tell what it meant to bear hauls or talking in his press conferences leading up to this game. Talking about how Mexico you know, the U.S. doesn't clearly Mexico. We have not gained their respect. And that was I'm sure a message that was being sent to those players. All this week leading up to this game that they don't respect you. You've beaten them twice this year. Once with a B squad, they still don't respect you. Show them tonight that they need to respect you. So that message clearly, clearly resonated with the team and I can't believe I show what has said that. Jeff Carlos tweets Tim weah says it was him and Deandre yedlin, who told the equipment manager to make the man in the mirror shirt for Christian Pulisic. So there was a sense that if we're going to get a goal, it's very likely pulisic will come off the bench and do it. There is also the fact that Deandre yedlin is as Roy Keane would say, senior pro. So it was the senior man in the setup that was that gave his endorsement to this idea. I'd be fairly sure that Tim weah was all over this himself from its inception. Look, it's one of those things where what was it what was it the famous English Bard, the wonderful poet from Leicester said, chat S get banged, which was oh yes, so Jamie ovar. That was it. That's it. But yeah, it was a lovely moment. Just your thoughts on the second goal. Watching the second goal was almost, oh my God, it's a great finish but these guys are like the Mexican defense was at 6s and 7s. It was all over the place. Yeah, it was and look it was some good build up play for the U.S.. They were doing a nice job courtesy of way of getting a lot of balls in from the right into the center. And it worked for them. McKinney got it. It was a nice lay off. And then, and then it's all about being opportunistic in the box. Like, okay? Didn't go the way you drew it up. Ball ping pongs around. Now it's at your feet. He takes a great first touch to put him in position and then boy, the finish. I mean, the second that left his foot up, golf, that's game. Dosa Cerro. You could see it right away. It was, I loved it. I loved it. It was great. McKinney. And you only felt there was only that there was the possibility for a third after that. That's all you felt. "But Mexico is 28.6. You know, and that those years that bit energy and those miles on the clock, I felt made a huge difference in the second half. And that's been a theme for the U.S. throughout World Cup qualifying. There's been frustration in the first half, and then whether it's correct use of substitutions, whether it's halftime adjustments, whether it's fitness level of this team, which I think has a lot to do with it. They have been so good in the second half. Here's the breakdown of what they've done in the first half of World Cup qualifying versus second. First half, one goal in all of World Cup qualifying so far. Second half ten 36 shots in the first half of 52 in the second half. Shots on goal in the second half, they have 22 shots on goal to 7 in the first half. I don't know what bear halter saying to this team at halftime, but whatever it is, it seems to be working. And that was the case again in this one. Now before the goals happened, obviously, I wanted to ask you the Brendan errands and Luis Rodriguez moment. REDcard? Red. I thought so too. I wasn't sure if I'm being Andrew, American underpants guy, but to me, it's a red as well. Well, as we all know you're in Denver right now, you're not wearing any underpants, but that's another story. It's total red. It's a straight red. He gouges him. He sticks his fingers into his eyes as ironson as kind of prawn in a prone position. The referees at a bad angle to see it. But again, you know, the nonsense of Concacaf and their reasons for not having vary. I'm not a var guy. Everybody knows that. But you can not have everywhere else and not have it for this. I don't get it. I'll never get it. I don't care how many people explain to me and think they have logical explanations. I don't get it. No, and it doesn't matter. It doesn't make sense. And the money is there to provide it for all the grounds where you think. By the way, most of the grounds I've seen so far. It's not that hard to set up a TV monitor. You know, it's just not hard. There's no explanation. There is no. And the guy. And then I heard in the broadcast, and I thought, maybe I needed my ears cleaned out. That there's a possibility that it comes in for the second half of this tour. In January. Like that they're going to do it in install it in January. Like rest of the world. You can't understand how fun Concacaf is until you experience it and live it. The rest of the world doesn't know what's going on here. We have this little inside joke that no one else is aware of. I love it. I love it. Yeah, Concacaf is run by the blue family. It's the banana stand of confederations. But the frustrating thing about the aronson Rodriguez incident was that in the end, it dragged two yellows out of American players. Zack Stefan ran 70 yards. I had nothing to do in the game, boredom took the better of him and he decided he'd do a David Hasselhoff Baywatch run. He just ran. And the minute you become the runner from deep, you are part of creating the shimazu. You're going to get a yellow. You don't have to do anything. The very act of coming that distance means you're an instigator. And so boom, yellow. I mean, I get why he did it, though. He doesn't know what has been seen or what hasn't been seen. He probably saw what happened to aaronson and wasn't sure who else did. He needed the ref to know what happened there. So I get it. Good for him. But McKinney gets one too, and I think now he's suspended for their next game. He is. Yeah. So. This is the rivalry. These are the things that happen. Yeah. And but that kicked the U.S. on. Like the U.S. fed off of their anger from that moment. It also comes on and before you get to that, if you're going to S House Andrew, you got to be ready to open your intensity. On Mexico, Mexico I've seen Mexico do this before against the U.S. where it actually brings more out of them and out of the crowd. Obviously, they had no support Cincinnati compared to what they usually have when they play in the U.S.. We'll talk about that. Okay. And secondly, I suppose one of the things was that it didn't lead to this charge of energy from Mexico if anything it spurred us off. It certainly did. The goals. Here we go, the fun part. Because it's starting to get a little nervy. Like you said, you're starting to wonder this has a little bit of nil nil written on it or please God don't let Mexico suddenly squeak a chance through, you know, misplayed pass or counter attacking on breaking the press, whatever. But incomes our guy well, can I cut you off there for a second before you do the procession that is coming? The royal procession that's coming for pussy because the key player in all of this all night, their phone in the side of the Mexican team from a wide position was Tim weah. I agree. It's what I was going to say. They didn't get people within 20 yards from most of the time. Now, that is a problem. I've never seen Tim way to play with so much space. I've never seen a place so effectively in terms of getting the ball into the box. I actually think the idea of ever playing him unless you're in a moment of need as a central player, we should abandon that because he does much better work in a slightly more wide position or maybe even tucked in a little bit. But he was brilliant all night. And that ball.

"To run it back. Leo. Playing against breast on Saturday. Again finished one one. The legal comes in the 19th minute from none other than Canada's Jonathan David herk a really well taken goal. Man, this guy's on fire. Look at the touch here. Look how he sets it up. Nice little turn. Cut him out. Left footed finish. He's just gotten so much better. 7 goals in 11 games this season. He had 13 and 37 last season. This man is prime for big things. Probably worth noting Tim weah, played the full 90 minutes in this game for Leela as well, speaking about competition there at the wide positions for the United States. On Jonathan David, herk, the question is, is he the best number 9 in concave? Now, is this the best number 9 in Concacaf of the moment? Yes. I've been think it's debatable. The only one who could rival him is honestly rauch Jimenez pre injury. What about the boy Ricardo peppy? He's hot. No. Is this the best 9 in concave or the hottest night in Concacaf? He's a little bit of both. Okay. He's a little bit of both. We look at one. Well, I'll say the best. He's the best, and he's the hottest because if we look at his work of qualifying games, 6 goals 5 assists in ten games. If we look at what he's doing, he's doing it at a higher level. It comes with his 18 years old. The growth, the ceiling is going to be the potential off the charts, but Jonathan Davis is the truth. Jonathan David is today. He's scoring goals and many different ways. He's so smooth in the body. He's so explosive without it. And he's a natural finisher. This man right now it's Leo today, tomorrow. I mean, he's going to have some very big clubs knocking on that door. The best night, in cacao, plays up north of Canada. So you've got them 7 for 11. That's in the league. If we go all coms, Jonathan David right now, 7 goals in 15 games. Ricardo peppy 13 goals in 28 MLS appearances. So I'll give you Jonathan David the best, but in terms of heat checks are ridiculous. But he isn't all that. Isn't all that differently? Hey, hey, one note here. He was born in New York. Would you imagine? Would you put him over pep? He'd be your number one in your top 5 U.S. number 9 ranking. So just put him number one in Concacaf. You don't think I'm benching Hercules Gomez, benching Ricardo Pepe. Exactly what I'm doing for Jonathan Dave. Science. Put.

"We had talked about in Twitter spaces like, oh my God, why is Paul or illa starting his third straight game? Well, the Biden didn't stand up to warm ups, so that didn't work out, but Tim Wyatt certainly did. That was nice to see him come in. It was a lot of people what they wanted. But Zack Stefan, what did you think of that decision Doyle pregame and what do you think of it now? I thought it was the wrong decision. I thought it cost the U.S. a goal. I'm glad that the U.S. got away with it. But shot stopping is the most important skill keeper has. And Zack Stefan should have saved his goal. I mean, the T feel still up good lord. He should have saved his goal. And I think Matt Turner would have. You think the issue in this moment is he should have saved it rather than he never should have come off his line from the start and started the moment that created it? Yeah, I mean, I actually, I'm not gonna blame him for that because you have Zach Stephan out there specifically for that moment. Now he should have he's a modern keeper. He's a sweeper. Yada yada yada, well then he's gonna come out and try to head balls away like that. And to be clear, he didn't really have to. But not at all surprised that he did. His head clearance was poor, sergino dest. His had a clearance attempt after Stefan's was poor. Tim weah did not follow through on his tackle. If you want to look at little moments, if it's Paul ariola there, he's crushing Brian Ruiz out of bounds into touch, not letting him back he'll flick that off the line for moderator. So these are the little moments in personnel decision making that can lead up to big things, which is giving up a goal that you shouldn't have and being down one mill early. But the U.S. got away with it. I guess this means it's open as who starts next month against Mexico. Is that the message that's being sent, I guess we might find out here as we do this thing and Greg were alters press conference starts to trickle out. I don't believe that's what it is. It doesn't felt like I don't know, maybe I'm just, you don't say it 5 times. And then this was a must win home qualifier. Yeah, which didn't make a ton of sense. But it unless Greg burr still sees it as expensive number one. Yeah. I think that's the cave. I think it is the case. I think he favors Zach stuff and I think he always has for a number of reasons. And I don't think that there was enough to have a reason to take Turner out of the lineup. He had a couple of shaky moments on crosses in Panama, but seemed to kind of dig himself out of it. And when there were mistakes, he was able to kind of find a way to even when he played the ball with his feet, and it was a poor clearance. It came down his throat, he makes a good save. To keep it clean at that point. Now, on the other side, I think the reason why Greg prefers Zack Stefan is because of exactly those things that he's better with the ball at his feet. And he's better coming off his line. And ironically, that's what got him into trouble tonight was him coming off the line..
