"It's funny. I almost have to cover a 16 Z as I would a startup company. A startup company that's constantly iterating new products and features, or maybe a conglomerate, a conglomerate of startup enterprises, for example. Andreessen Horowitz has launched a 16 Z crypto research, a lab focused on web three breakthroughs that can contribute to deployable code, quoting the block. The new unit will be led by Tim Roth garden, a prominent academic expert in game theory who has been a professor at both Stanford and Columbia. He joined a 16 Z as a research adviser last year, and will now take the title of head of research. Rough garden's goal is to create a university like effort within the firm akin to Bell Labs or deep mind the artificial intelligence research subsidiary of Google's parent company Alphabet. It is clear that web three is a new scientific breakthrough that brings together ideas from computer science, finance, economics and the humanities noted Ali Yahya, a general partner at andreessen Horowitz in an interview with the block. The new lab will aim to pinpoint and address the fundamental research problems facing the pursuit of mainstream crypto adoption. In some instances, the group may develop new tools that can help a 16 Z portfolio companies grow their business. The investment firm paradigm has pursued a similar strategy. For instance, paradigm recently worked with Rick and Morty co creator Justin roiland on a new mechanism for non fungible token sales. A 16 Z aspires to contribute to research breakthroughs that can contribute to deployable code and technology as well as have an impact on the broader academic research field. The group may not simply focus on topics within the computer science or engineering fields and could also explore topics like how NFTs should be thought of in the context of art history or the impact of decentralized autonomous organizations on political science. Capital R research said rough garden, adding that he wants members of the team to nab relevant research awards and contribute to peer reviewed journals. The main pitch is that there is an opportunity to do fundamental work right now that will be taught to undergrads in 2030, he said, end quote. Not.

"I'll say an Ava song and leave it there. No, but a beautiful to look at an interesting and without spoiling too much, it's about a couple who goes to is it. How do you say farro? Farro. The island where Bergman did film a lot of his movies and it's a couple who are there both screenwriters, one more successful than the other, played by Tim Roth and Vicki crept. And yeah, so then they are in Bergman's world and specifically sleeping in the bedroom where scenes from a marriage was filmed. And it becomes a movie about creation and relationships and art and artists in the separation or the connection between those two and from the perspective of a woman as well, which is very exciting. For me, love to see it. That makes it sound more, I don't know academic than it really is. I mean, it's really intelligent, but it's also very fun and playful. I would say a little bit. It takes a couple of chances with its storytelling structure that I also wouldn't want to spoil for anybody who hasn't seen it, but it's definitely worth checking out. Also, Andrew Danielson Lee is getting a lot of plaudits for his work in the worst person in the world in this movie. He and Mia wash akaska share some scenes that are just incredible. Which people are finally going to be able to see worst person in the world, I hope. He's amazing. And also, apparently, Andrew Danielson Lee is also a full-time doctor in Norway. In addition to being an actor and two of the best movies of last year this year, so it's been significantly vocal and worked hard during COVID-19. It's amazing. A true, true hero. That's a great movie. That was my number 6 movie of the year. Honestly. So my number 6 movie of the year is now available to be streamed. The lost daughters availability stream. That was my number 9 movie. The worst person in the world is coming out on February 4th. That was my number two movie that was your number one movie. People are finally getting a chance to see some of this stuff. Movie that we talked about very briefly on the show, swan song, which is Benjamin cleary's, I believe it's his debut film. Sorry Mahershala Ali, which, again, I think a little bit of a victim of the Apple TV plus kind of came and went aspect of it. I thought this movie was perfectly fine. It's about a man who learns he has a terminal diagnosis. And so explores the possibility of cloning and I'll tell you very quickly there's a movie at Sundance that has the exact same premise, but a completely different tone that's called dual starring Karen Gillan, who also gets a terminal diagnosis and then pursues a clone to take her place in the world. Very odd that there are two movies with the exact same concept told totally differently. Anyway, what'd you think of Swanson? Well, this is one where I watched it in a certain emotional or hormonal state and at some point it's Mahershala Ali, who's incredible. And I think one of our great actors right now, he's playing both clone. He's playing the original in the clone, but both people and just like dealing with emotions while Frank Ocean's moon river plays. And I was just weeping. I don't know what to say to you. I don't think that's an unbiased assessment of.

"Like hey man let's let's get it so already mispronounce almodovar so i'm gonna make myself sound like an idiot again here. Did you feel like every sentence in. This trailer was completely disjointed. Where like you got absolutely nothing from it. I didn't but that could totally be done on purpose. I wondering if it was on purpose. Yeah that seems like something almodovar. Who would do them yet track. Maybe maybe i got it. But i don't know i was watching that trailer and i was just like what the fuck is happening. Here's a lot y- have you noticed this year. There's a lot of movies about abouts. Parenthood and mysteries and like not just like straight up horror movies stuff like real twisted stuff going on anxiety. I think especially the way the world is right now. I don't know the book but it looks really interesting. You know this woman or this family moves to town or a new island. I don't know what it is a small area and there's a woman living there and she's like i used to have a son but he's not my son but the kids still around so we don't know what the heck is going on here and it just looks like super mine. Fifteenth stars vicky crips. Tim roth and miyawaza casca great cast and it's about a couple of filmmakers who go to an island where ingmar bergman lived and they want to get maybe some of that inspiration while working on their new film. This just feels like it was made for me. It's the faroe island. I think they go to or something. And like i love movies or tv. Shows that are set in these remote destinations at you. Learn about bigest seeing the environment you know. Yeah filmmakers definitely had that kind of like margot at the wedding before midnight that kind of small area let's get encompassed with the characters like i'm really excited for this. Dave and i know a plate of ken. And i think it had new abba song in the preview. So come on bro yeah. I'm looking forward to it too. It reminded me a little bit of black bear that aubrey plaza movie. If you like that one yeah love that movie and so this doesn't look as weird but certainly the the filmmaker looking for inspiration angle of and so. Yeah i'm i'm definitely interested to see where this goes and then the last one we put on our little speed round list is army of thieves. Come into net flicks. October twenty ninth. Which is for some reason a prequel to army of the dead. I guess it was green lit before anybody knew how army of the dead would do for. Net flicks zack. Snyder's most recent movie. This is just produced by snyder stars. The dealer character who is the locksmith in that movie and i. I don't know who wants this movie but it's happening. I definitely do not want this movie and like halfway through the trailer. I was like man i can see myself being interested in this thing for twenty minutes and just watching this fall all the way off the cliff. Good dave know very much does not. There are a few more things i mean. I didn't put it on our list but we also have halloween kills Which i didn't like the last halloween but we'll see maybe it'll be good Also antlers which is one of my most anticipated movies of last year but was delayed over and over again. Tell me about that. Told me antlers. What's his name. Scott cooper he did Out of the furnace with christian bale and also hostels with christian. Bale also crazy heart. He's he's a great director. And it's it's a horror movie but it looks really interesting and like really stylized and everything and then also the harder they fall. Which is that all black cowboy movie coming to netflix. Which looks good. Yeah So there's just so much so many movies. People are excited about venom. That's an venom. I forgot about venom directed by andy circus. Love andy circus. "Are you gonna buy me a copy. Maybe the y. Watch bet talk listeners. We have concluded our second adventure. Oh my goodness now. Listen the film festival. Since the pandemic they have been really interesting last year especially because many of them had cancelled or really streamlined. Who would allow to do this. Virtually how ever this year namely sundance namely south by south west tribeca all the way through. Tiff allowed for pretty good access of the movies. Yeah i was very very much impressed at the access. They allowed us to have now. Here's the question. We aren't being gimmick still unfortunately that did stifle some of the content. That was coming out. But i feel like we're coming through. A resurgence and tip is a good indicator along with cans. Com- if you will those two festivals and sundance but really conon. Tiff really give us a highlight of what we're going to be sniffing out during the award season and what kind of season we're going to have if we're going to do like last year where it was berry hetty inverse small and you had something like no mid land to take it all home during the oscars well. Tiff is a good indicator of where we're moving. So here's the question. How did all pan out. Did we enjoy tiff. This year. i was experience over. Some of the highlights are going to go over the tail edge tiff. Hey all right. Let's start with first things first in. That's a new movie called sundown sunny coming up on. This will tell ya. I don't think so. This directed by michael franco or miquel franco and tim roth Tim roth is one of those actors where you go. What are you up to certain. I don't know what tim stick it. "Okay okay it has abominable abominable is that guy's name from the hulk movie that different actor. It's not tim roth but remember timber off. He takes the same stuff that hulk takes in the first movie. That's universal with this. The other big big green guy the military big green guy. Yeah but was this the mark ruffalo one or was this noses pre the ed norton jr. won the edward norton one. Okay yeah right. Yeah and tim roth is the bad guy. Yeah okay so it has him and wong like fighting in this death match kind of space. Gotcha which is interesting and then it has some beautiful martial arts scenes. Beautiful imagery epic battles with ancient spiritual. And you know like dragons tail some so and so's and it looked like a looked like characters from pokemon now watching the trailer of this. It didn't have the feel a huge feel of a marvel movie. would you say felt very marley. Marbly verb. So no. I i appreciate it. I understand what you meant. Yeah so it is an extension of marbly fall into the rigidity of the avengers..
"tim roth" Discussed on Jury Duty: The Trial of Robert Durst
"The prosecution has the defense gets now in terms of preparing for trial in galveston. Talk to you about duty. Stored in the bbc story is basically a script and durst ends up being the actor now. He talked a lot about how there's beta whether or not he wrote it or someone else wrote it. But if you look at the document it was clearly created in in -ticipant of trial the language in it. But if you look at it the. Da knows that on eight thirty a. One i bought twenty two pistol in pasadena it. This is the physical evidence out there. This is the independent evidence and this story has to account for that physical evidence that independent evidence in order to make it make sense and there are countless examples throughout the story of language. Like that the da knows ditz. The da knows this. As i said it's basically script now a little bit about telling a story went to tarantino is a film writer director. I love him on television. So matt spell. We'll time talking about batch started his career with the movie reservoir dogs and it's brilliant. It's also very violent so if you're not violence door watching what there is a scene in it that is super famous taught in almost every film writing class as called the commode story and the premise of the story is essentially nece tim. Roth is an undercover officer. And he's tasked with infiltrating a robbery crew and his handler. He tells tim roth he said. Look in order for you to get in with this crew. You have to tell a story you have to essentially tell why and what his handler says. Is you need to have this story. And the story is all about the details. It's the details that sell the store. And that's why i'm reminded of durst taken stand the testify. Is that the way you is is. He has vivid details and lots of it makes it come to life in almost makes it seem real but almost now the problem with details this the more details you have the harder it is to lie because you have so many details you have to keep track of them so that they don't contradict each other the other issue with details eventually. Those details will come in conflict with independent evidence like we talked about the classic example in this case is susan's day planner. If the story had just been look. I went out and surprise. Visit to susan. And i came back without all these details. It wouldn't have been contradicted by that date planet so the very thing that makes his story more interesting or more lifelike is the very thing that makes it more. Dangerous in terms of being undermined is the details. Milius went on to articulate the contradictions durst detailed story about the day. Morris black died one of the things that are says is that when he went for that. Walk starting off at the temple and the jogging to the apartment to start off this day that he left his cell phone in his car. Now there are so many things about that that are ridiculous anybody who is a cyclists or a jogger run or anything the idea that you would drive to a location at half a mile a mile away from your house and then run to your apartment or jonky apartment and then jog and presume lewis. Stand the apartment sweaty. Do whatever you're gonna do in department and then run back to your car zero sets. You didn't go for jogging park.

"Think there's some some great strengthen that so yeah I think that's what i wanted to talk today about mass media. Obviously shanxi comes up. Tomorrow i have my tickets me the men and John who's my friends kid. We're all going to go see hsien-chi together And we're very excited Cause it's gonna be. It's gonna be big. I've already bought the tickets. So it sets helping chunk. She gets to jump cheese. Sorry get to fifty million. 'cause that's the goal for the weekend because it's i mean it's still pandemic you know but they feel like hey you know we're on track to hit fifty fifty million which is like a triumph in the same age because they're not releasing it on that releasing disney plus. It is going to have short window. I think it's like a two week window or one week window and then it gets to a demand but Right now i mean it's exclusive hitter. I mean this this labor day weekend though so may get an extra day on monday. Though two people be off they're gonna stretch what they define as the weekend. But i'm just i'm just saying they might. He might get some good Ticket sales on monday to everyone off. But oh i don't know if you open that article. I sent you but yeah everyone knows bomb nations in show up plating long. And yes sean. But but also then after that Nations gonna show up and she hawk and that's an interesting thing. I mean i do believe it. I do think tim roth Reprising his role. This does confirm that it is tim. Roth what exercise they got. Tim roth and to give some sound for it. So what exactly. That means are the overlaying. Sounds getting punched. Well you know is worth ford. It's worth you know. Hey they pay them the same with his or you know does does not a abomination have is you know. Y you put him in the rig. He'll move just like you know it'll be the same move body languages in the hulk moon south see. Yeah i'm i'm excited about it looking forward to it. You know what i guess. That's the point. Is that you know since they anyone that. Cg rig you know maybe just gonna stick just a a good stunt fighter into it to fight long. Although good old longman. I i love him but you know i mean maybe i mean. He's a dad body. They're sorta diane. And i mean listen to some lead bother for power that known for sex ability for cinematic fighting. That's all. I'm saying some kind of spell on himself or something he's gonna be doing this spells and actually more reasoning. He's he's all over it because we see them later where he's opening doors for cianci and the gang so they have pulled all the stops The only thing. I haven't seen yet in that trailer From the mdc you who is Of apec. Orient origin is jimmy. Whoo but i haven't ruled it out yet. I i mean i praise. Jimmy will endorse in the end credit scene. But it might just be you. Because i don't think people knew about the love that lewin darcy going to have by the time they were shooting. So you know. I mean he might make a quick cameo. Somebody might get on the phone to him and he knows. Answer the question. Or you know. Kim nick information or something. Yes well i can imagine there be. I'm imagining what the in credit things can be. We've already established the contessa. Vanessa allegra d contain and credits in talkin winter soldier and a black widow so it would not surprise me if we don't get a similar and credits in this. That is somehow touching base with the contessa. Maybe the contessa meeting with the mandarin. Because you know if we're looking at her building her own dark of injures it may not be shanxi that trump that she's meeting with you know so it's interesting when you were goes. I'm excited. I'm really excited for this film but We'll see that you weren't talk a couple of comic books real quick speaking of Speaking of well nothing. Let's talk about avengers. Forty eight and this is the gorilla man's lament Even as we're going to jen. Walters as the ultimate blind killing machine with gamma breast which i thought was a nice touch but that she's moving hail with them. But you know. I gotta say at the end of the day. The entire premise of the russian plan doesn't make a lot of sense given that it. oh name. more has the hulk underwater. Like the bruce banner. Hulk he's underwater. So i don't know what you really any real plan is who released wanna murder all the atlanta l. That and we've got a little failsafe. Well i think. I think i mean the whole point. Isn't it was like dracula one in some hulk blood and then it's like the russians. Hey you wanna take a slightly you. She hawk off my hands for a cheap price and the russians were like. Hey more decommissioned speak another decommissioned weapon for the name roker but which then they then arguably sent to kill vampires. Yeah so you know doing the cleanup on it. Of course does yep.

"Mention for a preview back in two thousand nineteen. We're finally getting to see it. And if you wanted to why i would physician this movie as potentially one of my favorite movies ever made. Here's david erlich in indy. Wire i'm just gonna read you a couple of phrases. A triple layer met a romance zephyr calm story of loss love and artistic reclamation i mean he had a triple layered met a romance. And then you go to the full on synopsis. A filmmaking couple summer retreat to the idyllic island that inspired their hero bergman blurs the lines between reality and fantasy and their own relationship. I'm not sure this movie actually exists. I think someone just took it out of my brain and said oh what movie will adam give five stars to. Even if he doesn't see it and you have the plot synopsis for bergman island. That is a high expectation. it is right. Tim roth and vicky kreps. Both talented actors are the couple. Me of us kab ska also in it. Mea hanson loved. The director herself does appear in the movie. Though i'm not sure in what capacity and there's a part in the trailer where his character says something like you realize we're going to sleep in the bed where they shot scenes from a marriage and then you get the punch line. Which is i think we're gonna have to find another bet right and it almost makes even though. I don't think the movie is going for this at all. The trailers suddenly doesn't suggest it. It's almost like a horror movie setup or some kind of psychological thriller we know this house is supposedly haunted but will brave it. That's all nonsense. We're volatile married couple. Let's go to bergman island. That'll be good for us. That'll that'll recall our love. Yeah perfect couples. Therapy going to bergman island. The island here in question is the island pharaoh where he made through a glass darkly and shame and i think persona built a studio on the island to film scenes from a marriage. I think all total made six features. They're the tv series and two documentaries about the island itself. Lot of history here. And i think that gets kind of what my true question about. This movie is. Here's another that from david. Ehrlich in india where he says while the iconic swedish artist is amusingly inescapable and bergman island is films are name checked in almost every scene many of which take place on the exact spots where they were shot or in the house where he wrote them. This supple puzzle box is more interested in him as a means to an end. So that's that's what i really want to explore and discover as much as i'm geeking out as a bergman fan and a fan of movies about movies and meta movies and i will say i trust that ehrlich is probably right. I trust hansa love as a filmmaker as well. So it's not really a question of kimchi. But how will she juggle all that name checking in the visual measures to make something that doesn't feel suffocated by the weight of bergman and his legacy october fifteenth is when will find out when it hits select theaters. I mean how good to see. Vicki crops back on screen to and this sounds like i think she's very good in old. The shamlan fell but it doesn't really give her what we know she can do based on phantom threat. This sounds like it'll be a little bit more up that alley so can't wait to see it either. And i will note that of course with my number two pick. I talked about jessica chastain and next week on the show were planning to talk about the card counter with oscar isaac oscar isaac and jessica chastain re teaming as a married couple previously in a jc. Chander film here. they're back as a couple in the. Hbo version of scenes from a marriage. That's coming out. I think in october. And i love the original series. One disgust by sam and me back on a way long forgotten episode of film spotting to see those two actors wrestling with this material is something. I am eager to see so add that to my fall. Movie preview can't wait for scenes from marriage on. Hbo those are our top five questions about the fall. Movie season josh any titles. You haven't gotten too many questions you want to throw out there. No leftover questions. i'm looking in my rankings. Of just what. I most anticipating. I can give that real quick so french dispatch would be number one followed by dune. And then tighten the julia duke or no follow up to raw. Raw was a top ten list for me. Can't wait for that. The impeachment ponderosa coon film with tilda. Swinton memoria that's coming out before thanksgiving i believe and then my fifth most anticipated. And you know. I might have the dates wrong on some of these. But i think passing. Rebecca hall's adaptation of the nella larsen novel that one i did read not too long ago is fantastic Believe that is out shortly here. Starring tessa thompson and ruth negga. So yes just some of the titles. I'm in general really looking forward to our producer. Sam is going to give you a point for nailing the. We're coon which i can't say. Nearly as well as you obviously you you did call it titan. And not teton which he busted my chops for the other day. Why didn't he put out a red alert. I know he should add it on spotting pronunciation guy but pronunciation guide. Okay i think he wanted you to fail. T wants you to look at this. I think it's going forward all right. That's what that's what. Sam noted french speaker of that. Do porno film i alas did not rank my titles even though i definitely thought about it and after the french dispatch which is clearly at number one and yeah i really after revisiting. Some of these recent daniel craig bond films really do wanna see. No time did i. Of course yes. I'm curious as well about dune. Red rocket might be the other title. We've talked about it here on the show. Because i think it played a fester too but the latest from sean baker definitely among my top five most anticipated films of the ball. We love to hear the movies..

"Out of his. You go like this and controlled spin around. And then he catch it. Press a button and it would open up this like slake and snow on tv when you go to the snow channel and it was just like static. Yeah it would create like a portal aussedat and really luck you in. It was really cool. Yeah great idea. And i don't wanna say parody it. I don't wanna say a borrowed or anything but very reminiscent of the first smash movie. Because they get they get sucked into youtube. Oh i didn't know that but without the murder without the without the devil. Yeah and we're talking about this. If it's a horror movie had horror aspect it was it account but it was kind of like a comet was like a dark thriller hybrid right because like the thing was is like the whole time. You're like this is the devil fucking with humans And you would cut back to like the switchboard room where the devil was like orchestrating. All this like terrible television and the whole thing was like commentary on like bad. Tv cable having like bad shit that were rot your brain and it was like kind of like a commentary on cable being kind of new thing. That's bad but even deeper between the lines but like the whole time you're like okay. So they're in hell and all of these shows that they're going into are being broadcast in hell so it's like if you're in hell your. This is like the tv that's on in. Hell was just hell or did they. Also because the kids knew because the big satellite dish that the devil was selling people would tap you into the hell was still see the hell stuff. Yes because they were like water these show right because what it was. So let's say wayne's world at the time a huge thing yeah they parody wayne's hell wear dead and there's like the audience is like skeleton. How shit and like yeah. So it's got depth to it. There's a there's a knife cam and it was like would like go towards neglect like dread. What was the reason. It flop just random flop flop. Maybe i yeah i mean. I've never even heard anything. Seem like a like a like. I remember watching it. I don't remember it being a theater movie. It was one of the ones. I just got. Wow it says here that it's a six point two ten db that's good. That's really good. Forty seven percents. I'm not not as good but at forty cents. Close to fifty. It's very close to fifty and other crazy thing is. You can't get it anywhere you can't find it on to be. I guess weird but like the woman. Because it's john richards her his real life wife. Was it the redhead. Pam pam dabur. I wonder if you financed it. Then if if his him and her or maybe they weren't married yet but anyway maybe they weren't married that's great but she was Oh no no no. None at nevermind. Nevermind i thought if he's wrong. Everybody song it spits. Mindy mindy okay. Yeah anyways really good. I was thinking of the woman from problem child. The red and also robin hood men in time so that was his wife. That was your problem. Chad i loved that movie grownup so forget about john ritter was like he was the thing he was like. The guy was the guy he was the guy for kind of a while because he was really good his sons now doing very well. Jeffrey jones who is not fun to talk about for a couple from this but was a lot of stuff. Have you ever seen the movie ravenous. Now guys haven't seen ravenous oh my goodness it's amazing. It's about a civil war. A revolutionary war one of the two era soldiers that are in the middle of nowhere in a forest at a base and cannibalism is a big part of it. Oh cool cannibalism in the sense that if you eat somebody you get their shrink and power. What turns you into kind of like a superhuman. Tim roth as we know. "So a few months ago my producer. Sophie and i went out to flushing queens to attend demonstration. Wow this is a lot of people here. it's like you can't even see the end or the beginning. it's it goes all the way up. Mainstream and flushing. The event was organized by this chinese. Spiritual group call following. And there were there to commemorate their persecution from the chinese communist party. We saw thousands of people wearing yellow and blue t shirts and there were holding massive banners. Set say things. Like the chinese communist party is the real virus of the world. This one says communism's ultimate goal. Destroy the human race so following all started back in china in the nineteen nineties and now they're practitioners all over the world. You might have seen the meditating in parks or you might have seen them at rallies like this one protesting the chinese communist party combatant then. We saw a group of anti following counter protesters. They were standing off to the side and they had their own banners and there were standing next to a bunch of street vendors and so we decided to go over and talk to one of them. Shouldn't there may what joie help alternative subject shirley temple. So he's he's he's a local community member. He's lived here for twenty years and his whole thing. Is you know following going there. They're liars in their Their huckster the controversial thing about following goal is not just that they speak out against the chinese communist party is that they have become increasingly influential in american politics as well because they're associated with one of the biggest platforms in the country that is publishing conspiracy. Theories and disinformation and that platform is called the epoch times. What is he a small newspaper. That spoke more money on trump facebook. Ads then amy organization outside the trump campaign. It sounds unbelievable. It's run by a group called found gone long religious that emphasizes on spinach china's government and falun gong to fight chinese propaganda with its own. So what is going on fellow. This is vice news reports. And i'm your host ariel. Tim roth's i'm t- you a reporter for vice news. Tt we're in the studio value joining me. It's amazing it's amazing to be out in person versa. So t t you've been reporting on falungong which i know is a religious movement so yeah during the height of the pandemic getting bombarded by my family with a lot of fake news articles about what About politics about the election about the pandemic in the beginning there was a lot of speculations about the vaccine and there was a lot of pro-trump material that was coming through. And i started to notice that a lot of them were associated with these two media networks was parked times and the other one was new tang dynasty television and i vaguely knew about them particularly with the epoch times because they used to publish articles mostly associated with china about inhumane chinese labor practices or religious persecution was another big topic and what i knew about them was that they were very anti china. Okay and so initially the epoch times is kind of digging into abuses in china very anti-chinese-communist party but like as you're reading them more recently in two thousand twenty or twenty twenty one. What kind of articles are you seeing. So you know. Their articles are pretty far right. It's on par with bright bar or newsmax and they're actually huge online. They have tens of millions of followers. So the paper really highlighted. Trump's stopped the steel campaign. Which as you know became the insurrection. January six all right. So they're similar to breitbart and other ultra conservative news outlets so what sets them apart. So what sets them apart. Is this marriage between anti-chinese communist party propaganda and socially conservative politics in the united states. The other thing to know about the epoch times is that they are connected to a chinese spiritual movement. Call follow angle now. It's important to know that following has always denied any connections with the epoch times but people we've interviewed told us that a lot of the former staff members follow members and a lot of the founders of these media networks were former fellow members. So how did the spiritual movement. That's i think still pretty obscure in the us start. This major news ellett so following started in the nineties in china and it started by this guy named louis holder. He was part of this. she going fad. That was happening in china at the time. And she going is this series of meditative. Physical exercises that you can do. And so i- taichi right. Yes very much. Yes exactly like taichi i think. Taichi is the more popular form of chico. Now lot of People in the west know about. Yeah my mom did it for a whole while in the nineties so this guy namely holder sort of just came on the scene out of nowhere you sort of chico entrepreneur and he created his own series of meditative physical exercises and then he started travelling the country and giving lectures but unlike what the go masters were doing at the time he took it a step further he started to claim that by practicing his brand of chagang. You cannot only. he'll physical ilma. You can heal. Spiritual element is as well and attain higher spiritual awareness. He called cultivating the fox. Farm means dharma. The cultivation of bava is in theory completely different from the methods of conventional she practices or schools and he calls his new more spiritual form of shougang following goal or falun dafa rotation of the following is synchronized with the rotation of the universe so in the beginning following was recognized by the official chinese chico association and that really really helped its rise. How popular are we talking here. Very very popular an academic that i spoke to said during the height of the movement there were tens of millions of people who were members.

Rachel vice said we're all doing great. I do appreciate that. They allowed the character to continue existing in the form that it's in at the end of the first movie because the first movie her arc part of it is like she goes from mousy librarian to getting in on the adventure at the end this movie. She's a full-on like totally hot adventure. Babe what's go and it's just like i'm glad it didn't go back to like she's still against the mousy librarian and we're hitting the reset button like that actually allows the the character to continue growing which is cool only to appoint because these magic visions that. Somebody's what somebody should have sets the only the only even like the ref at all. That's even close to this as she does say in the first movie That her mother was egypt's yes. That's it that's the only thing that's the only way they're able to tie in this terrible development for this character because they definitely didn't think i was going to be as big a hit as it was this was rushed. They were like get this going now. Luli you you just give yourself so much more work. So she's like seeing all this opaque. It's this way that's what i remember it and i don't know how it okay. Great cut this bark on his arm all of a sudden which is such bullshit. He says he got it at the orphanage. Or whatever stamp. They put on my arm at the orphan. Hirose bring me a kid. I'll tattoo is arm. And then let's check to see if it looks anything like that when he's thirty five years after you have battled the mummy. I don't care that you're an orphan. Yeah are now a world. Famous fucking monsignor chandler over it obviously just say after. You defeated the mummy. That mark mysteriously appeared. It's certainly not in the first bucket. No not at all. That's it's just another one of these dumb changes they make for this movie and i. I'm sorry that should is desperate. It's like you couldn't find another way around that and you're right like explain it in. Something happens to him at the beginning of the movie and then it appears on his wrist. And he's going to be directing that. They also announced that the big question that we've been having for for weeks and weeks now. Is Black Panther Black Panther to Will they recast. Or will they? Not? I I always said, you know, I love Chadwick Boseman. You probably shouldn't recast. But this character is too important to the Marvel universe. And I think that he's important to a lot of kids. Mm s. Oh, maybe you should continue the legacy, but they have announced they're not going to recast. They will not recast the role. And they said that Ryan Coogler is hard at work on Black Panther, too. And that Catherine Newton, who is currently in that show Freaky that's that's out there, we'll play Cassie Lang, daughter of Scott Lang. And, uh, that leads a lot of potential for her because in the comics she becomes she takes over. As uh, as the sort of giant man kind of character On becomes a character called Stature. Is her okay? S O. That could happen. I'm not saying that. Well, I'm just saying that that's what's in the comic books on the bill in front. It was confirmed that Jonathan Majors from The Lovecraft country will play Kang, the Conqueror, who was a time traveling villain, and he will put he will be in the new Ant Man movie. Also that Christian they announced the villain that Christian Bale will be playing in the new Thor movie is a villain who is called Gore the God Butcher. Was just about three or three or four years ago character created by Jason Aaron in the four comics. It was a great read where the God Butcher does just that.
