I mean. listen it's it's obviously lovely thing to have somebody who looks like her as your wife. But i'm telling you there's another side of the sword and the sword as people really don't believe that she's my wife and assume that she's like you know like out with her brother who unfortunately didn't inherit the same jeans or you know whatever the case might be so it comes with a large number of i mean. I can't post a picture on social media without somebody almost every time. Somebody i don't know yet feels like they need to stop on by. So there have been a few instances on ta recently when you have discussed addiction in regards to gambling. I do not have personal experience with gambling addiction. But i believe the underlying brain science in addiction is very similar no matter what someone is actually addicted to. I've been reading a lot about addiction and specifically addiction to pornography as this is something i dealt with slash m currently dealing with disclaimer. I understand that you are pro porn. And i'm not trying to espouse. My views on if porn is bad or not just trying to share what i've learned about addiction and how it can affect someone's life it all comes down to novelty dopamine levels surge for anything new whether it's a new porn scene or fetish category new bag in arcata six of choice for the user new game to bet on or new chance to win money and whatever game of chance the user enjoys the problem becomes that wanting and cravings increase when pleasure or liking decrease addicts want quote it more but gradually like quote it less. This leads the perpetual chase for the high. The brains of humans have evolved in a way that make us all potentially susceptible to addiction for instance the same neurological connections that allow our ancestors to react accuser triggers and not miss out on valuable opportunities are the same connections that caused us to react accuser triggers causing us to use. Whatever it is. We are addicted to personally. I can see a very real change in my outlook on life when i am using porn versus. When i'm on a porn free streak when i'm using porn. I'm pretty much zombie just going through the motions of life. Everything is numb. There are no feelings very little motivation and the only real excitement comes when looking for the next scene. Pick whatever to get off to. Basically i feel stuck in a cycle. That feels like. I am powerless to get out of when i'm not using i have actual interest in things that i once found an interesting. I pay more attention to my family. And friends feel invigorated and positive about life. And the possibilities. Life offers serve went onto long. As i said. This is just my experience. And what i've learned if you read this i'd appreciate you. Don't use my name if you'd like you can call me wilson. Love the podcast. Thanks tim and smoke So there it is so. Is there a saying this facetious. I obviously was long. I don't know if there's a question question resistance was. There's i want to make sure i answered. I don't want to Blow past it. I've never ever Got an email or a phone call or whatever from somebody who is addicted to pornography. But here we go. Have you ever heard of anybody. Being addicted to pornography extra p. No not that. I can think of the top of my head addicted to drugs. Certainly the gambling certainly alcoholic certainly I've heard of it before. I just don't know anyone personally. Yeah and so. I mean so here. He is kind of laying out what. It's life or lifelike when i'm using porn. I'm pretty much zombie just going through the motions of life. Everything is numb feelings. Very little motivation in the only real excitement comes when looking for the next scene. Pick whatever to get off to. Basically i feel stuck in a cycle. That feels like i'm powerless. To get out of when. I'm not using. I've never heard anybody called porn. Use it when i'm not using i have actual interest in things that i once found interesting. I pay more attention to my family. And friends feel invigorated. Deposit about live in the possibilities. Life offers out. And i want to make this clear. I'm not i'm not mocking it. And it's not a case of not believing it. I certainly do. Because i've heard of it. I've just never heard anybody laid out. It sounds similar to somebody when they're talking about being addicted to booze you know or you know some kind of drug Gambling no matter. What your dick. It could be food. You know like whatever it is. That's that's kind of the cycle. That's how you're gonna feel when you're you're looking. You're looking forward to like the next meal. I guess you know whatever the case might be the next bet. I guess in a way you know. We're talking about vices on the show. We were talking about gambling. And i guess in a way. I can kind of relate to because there is a when i used to play poker and a flight like walking my hotel room down to the lobby to play in a tournament when i would be in las vegas. There'd be like this excitement even though you know that of the five hundred people who are making the same walk all of you are going to get slaughtered but one but yet for whatever reason you know and so if you're betting on sports there's this you know you'd very least you know there's a fifty percent chance you're going to lose. I guess maybe. I'm just with draft kings. I love it. But i love the the thought that goes into. I love you know. I think i might have on the radio yesterday. Talk about derrick. Henry and i key had a game on sunday. Where he i don't even know. I think he's got three touchdowns and had one hundred sixty yards. And how. I loved the fact that i was on him and i knew most people weren't going to be on him and i had a reason for being on them that i knew most people weren't going to be aware of and that to me was a rush even though yet again. Awhile back while i certainly have many opinions on the subject. I think is a whole. Our countries miss the mark in one area. To the point that it makes me wanna bang my head against a wall encouraging exercise proper diet and wellness. It's never talked about instead. We're told the hunker down abandoned all ye hope and we will therefore hopefully avoid the virus. So maybe this will serve as a psa prior to my contracting covert. I had made myself fairly active again for perspective while asthmatic. I chose to move forward with playing competitive sport and began keeping myself active at the gym. When not a practices. I one hundred percent believe i got through covert which by all means was not some cakewalk because had been active in paying attention to what i put my body now for the flip side of the coin with covert. I was sedentary out of both necessity and requirement for two plus weeks tack on another three weeks after that of megyn eating and drinking whatever i wanted with little exercise. Well i got sick again with a bad sinus infection. I immediately wanted to cry cova but upon looking in the mirror and seeing my face looking like a pimple. That was ready to pop. I realized i needed to get my ass. Back in gear went to the gym five or six days a week monitor. my diet. Shout out my fitness pal. Not to generalize too much but the vast majority of younger. Kobe patients who die commonly look unhealthy when the newsflashes their picture across the screen. It's tragic but we shouldn't sit here and avoid calling spade a spade. It's irresponsible to just act like our general health as a country hasn't played a huge role in this virus kicking our collective asses. Sorry for the book. Report on what i learned from covert and finally. I urge anyone who gets recovers from this thing to donate plasma. You could save a life and get to watch films such as con air while doing so. Thank you that comes from the great carlos spicy. When you're one of the great is in the history of the ryan. Kelly morning after well. I think you're right on target carlos spicy weiner. This one these were sent in. autumn Service is okay. It's about I wanted to ask you about because I know you're huge Xuefeng hates him this past weekend I was going to go for a walk? But then I got an alert about Mizzou's flea flicker touchdown early and stopped what was doing to watch the whole game gave the arm and no longer has twitter but he does have a livestream with commentary and a sponsor for it all throughout the game that was great. Now even hung around for post game show also sponsored the can't remember the last time I saw it out more. "Yes. Yes. Welcome in to questions from the audience, which is really just at this point the Tim mckernan show podcast with the Great Gangster Pete for September twenty third. Twenty Twenty and I'm I'm texting with my wife started. Returning, off, our sprinklers for winter. Didn't. It seem odd an early Yeah. But I just got that text and I was answering it and recall last year we hadn't gotten done in like in late October it was gonNA freeze and people were panicking. So it's like now I wanNA air on the side of caution peace of mind now. So anyway so apparently, it's ninety five bucks a turn them off. So then it's like a couple hundred tournament in the spring and then it's not the sounds like of sounds like a situation but I digress, Pete, that's why threw me off mid Intro I don't want to restart I wouldn't continue. Here's the thing for today's September twenty third twenty. Twenty podcast. I was saying this to Pete and I want to say it to the audience in advance. I have. Will we have so many? Questions opinions and actually now erotic stories, the erotic stories are starting to come in they may even be coming in from the TMA producing. and. They may be so vivid that I actually uncomfortable reading of it's gotten to that point. We finally reached that point that I could do this podcast five, seven days a week, and I would enjoy it. I, don't know what that says about me I just know that that is I I enjoy it. and I love doing TMA. It's not like I would rather do this than mate that's not it I'm just saying I could I could do it and I enjoy doing it but here's the issue. The people, you people. Enjoy Gangster Pete so much on this podcast that for me to do it five or seven days a week. I mean I guess we could do it certainly the technologies there. It's like it's cutting edge shit but I don't want to. It would not be right to. Ask or expect gangster to do. More than what he is currently doing with doing one. for a wide variety of reasons, there's no reason to elaborate on that but that is that is my own personal principal. So then I can do more of these things but I, but then you're not gonna get gangster Pete and I really feel like it's not as good without gangster Pete, I enjoy doing them but the the audience has enjoy about gangster Pete. Then I don't want to give the audience what they don't want double negative gangster Pete that's what's happened. You have become a popular figure. I'm sure they'd get over me real quick things on. So you know there's hate listeners who hate me but they listen because.

"Yes! Yes, welcome into questions from the audience on the Tim mckernan show. June thirtieth two thousand twenty is when we are recording this gangster piano. Put up right away. Put it up right away because you know why we didn't do one last week. That's right. So. I. I know there are a number of people. who are tuning in today I think we've broken a record for questions There's no way that I can get to the mall and and I'll I'll do my best to answer them as much as I possibly can, so, but we didn't do one last week so last week again for the purpose of attempting to be transparent as possible and I try to be more transparent on on the Tim Kern show podcast to give people Roi for subscribing as we want you to do and giving positive reviews at possible, but then at the same time when I talk about reviews, I know there's. So many people hate me. It's like. It's going to be like you know gives them place to go attack, so maybe it's not a good thing, but either way. That's the that's the deal. When you're doing a podcast. You talk about that stuff, so I'm working on stuff. Week and a I had recorded something. And then I was asked to go into a meeting that I. was told was going to take two minutes. It's twelve thirty at this point means gangster. Pete has been here at this point for what seven hours or so something like that. That's right and gentlemen. Is a great guy for the record. asked me to meet I. Thought it was just going to be a quick. Little conversation turns out to be a long conversation. Our one o'clock come back in. Thanks for repeat. Describe your emotions. there there is a confluence of factors that Kinda got me heated that you were pissed. Mostly my my time isn't valued by St- The station so Why are you sharpshooting me like that? No, not you're not the station you. that. We made it clear you don't own the station. That is absolutely the only one in that boat so when you know my time start. Getting. Wasn't the station. Who did it was me? It was really me, but like I, said a confluence of factors that having a bad mood, and then as the time kept going. got more and more angry. I was just I ready to bolt by the time. Yes, I understand so gangster Peten is, you can blame me for their no episode last week I. I was a a diva. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no It's on me because your premise was I think you could have said I. Think you did say? You would've taken two minutes to come out or two seconds to come out and say the meetings going longer than I thought it was going to go so that's on me, you know the buck stops here. It's my. So, when I came back to the podcast studio from the meeting. And he clearly, you're on tilt. you know I recognize that I have no problem. I want people to be comfortable on us. Never gets you know violent or crossed the line I. You know listen. We got two years of a track record together. People are gonNA. Get pissed when you when you go to war together, you know it's. Not every locker room has moments of Utopian behavior You know every single day. So that's that's that's the way.

"Here on the Tim mckernan show in our guest is Doug Armstrong Blues General Manager. Doug thanks so much for taking time out to join us. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me absolutely so the question that everyone is wondering is. Will we see hockey in twenty twenty? I'm sure that this is something that you are spending every day Getting input on and discussing with the organization. What is your understanding of the situation as we speak? Well it's twofold I know the NHL is is bullish on making sure. We have a full season next year and There's talk that the commissioner is comfortable starting not as late as December if that happened about allows us to to play into You know July August September to finish this year. That's obviously continue on on the health and safety of society and their players but we're hopeful we're planning on playing finishing up this year and You know there's no harm in in preparing and so along those lines we've read a number of ideas with regard to proposals and it sounds like one thing that we can operate off of. Tell me if I'm wrong is that we would not see fans in buildings. Is that your understanding as well. That's initial thought right now. Just it's going to be very difficult to social distance. Twenty thousand people in an arena. I think the first thing what we WANNA do is try and get back and play without fans and have a TV product that can entertain our fan base and after that Hopefully when we started next season we'll we'll be able to go with fans in the building and so another proposal that has been discussed as gotten publicity has been deemed as as credible by variety of sources of the idea of playing in a variety of of designated host cities Is that consistent with your understanding is where things stand right now. Realizing of course things change day by day to the finish this season that that's the format I don't think starting next season that that's the way we're looking at it. But I think the commissioner and the NHL to get back up and running. It's going to be easier to to get to two or four cities and Stay stay in that area and have less contact than flying all over the country like you would have to do to do this. So that's my understanding of what they're working towards thinking. That's the quickest way to get back on the ice if we do it Two to four neutral sites. A recent proposal discussed Here within the last few days was a twenty four team playoff system with some semblance of of playing in Games is that something that is that is gaining steam Within the NHL. Well the way I look at it is if we want to start By December you you SORTA work your way back to when when you have to win. The last game has to be played and You know I think women would love to see regular season games but if you get certain date that you can play a potential twenty four game play and format and if you get past that you can go to a sixteen team playing and then you get past that. I think eight is for me speaking for myself. Any Gate is the minimum number. Teams are going to have to to represent three rounds to crown a champion But I know that the the process would be to get as many as possible and if we could start having regular season games. Great if we have to go to a play in at twenty four again at It keeps twenty four markets active and excited and how much of that is a factor with two things one thing that certainly impacts you in a major way which I'm looking forward to getting your perspective on that is the draft and we're teams are currently slotted and then also those teams that would be near the top are in a spot where they you know they would be playing games But they're not necessarily in the mix for a playoff spot. I mean for example the Red Wings have already been eliminated and you have some teams including your your Western Conference Final opponent last year the sharks for example that are that are looking like they're out of the mix In the Western Conference and those teams those organizations those players not necessarily wanting to put themselves at risk. If they aren't in the mix for a playoff spot. Yeah I I think. That's you're hearing at different players talk about that but I think you. You can't look at this selfishly. If you're if you're how it affects your organization you have to do what's best for the game. If getting back to play regular season Games is important to pay for the revenue for the players They might not want to play. I know they want to get paid so usually get paid for work done And you know they just have to adapt to it if we if we if we don't have as I said I know the commissioner like to play many games as possible And that would be finished the regular season. That's not possible. Then you go to these at different formats but you know whether guys don't feel it's necessary to come back and play. I'm not really sure how they can deem that. They want their their pay. And you know the reality is. Is You paid for work? Don't so let's talk about the draft because the draft looks like it's going to take place before there will be guys back on the ice Is that your understanding? And how does that factor into the way that the draft would actually play out in this unique circumstance? That's certainly very unique. A concept at the League is considering I think that The one area that we hear is they're talking about a draft in June going based off of The point Total either after the winning percentage at the end of the at the pause or or maybe the winning percentage after sixty games which everyone has played. it's not something that We we've done in the past. Obviously you to have a champion. And they took thirty first. And the the final there finalist pick thirtieth but these are unique times and if they do go with the draft Ahead of schedule. What will be will adapt to whatever selection process? They give us and be ready for. That's what we're actually spending our time mark now or last month and we have looked doing zoom interviews with kids right now Just preparing for you draft. How different is this process versus all of your other. Here's Leading into the draft. It's very different. Usually we have The combine which we do those interviews face to face with the with the league process in Buffalo You. You do interviews with players and physical testing. Janssen beat them see them. I'll watch them train. That's that's not available this year so you just adapting in getting to know people over. Zoom phone calls are video Something I had never done before. Really tell us So this pandemic and I think we're all learning how to to function and do normal so the blues are in a spot where they're at the top of the Division as things sit right now ninety four points the top of the Western Conference If there is not a regular season able to be played the blues in in a in a good spot when you're interacting with with the players in in getting their feedback and you're interacting with your coaches. What is what is what is the sentiment among the organization. People you talk to the people you are responsible for about getting back out there and the Enthusiasm to do so. And then of course inevitably. They're also going to be some questions and some concerns. Yeah I know where players we just ask them to Prepare like professionals on which they are. They're training on their own right now. I'm very comfortable that the NHL is going to give us a long enough runway that we get the guys back here. Get on the ice Make sure they're in top physical shape so when they play they're they're not risking injuries but You know selfishly. We would like to play We've we've had a good regular season. We put ourselves in a good spot to to compete for the championship. Also got the you know. We wanted to defend what is right now and to do that. You need to play the game so well. There's there's a host the reason why it's important for us to to WANNA play and I know. Our players are are taking full advantage of the time that they have to train him. Stay in shape and I know they did. They all want to get back and play To defend their championship as far as Alex. Betray Angelo situation. This of course makes things unique for a variety of reasons so first off. Don't know when the team will be back on the ice and then and then secondarily Could what takes place this year. Impact the CAP. You have to work with next year are. Is that something that factors into how you're trying to balance to potentially retain your captain now not really In in the sense that if we play the Games He's under contract and he's he's earlier we'll follow him and he'll come back and give us the great effort and we'll deal with the business side of it when that's over so they're to me finishing this year separate to to what's going to happen over the years over. If the if they cancelled the season they cancelled the playoffs. And we're going to start again in December that we get to work on On our roster. We can't do anything until we know. What the celery is going to be and Alex and And representatives that. An Alex and I've had some conversations. Were just GonNa put this on pause until two? We know how this year's Cannes annual. We'll deal with that at that time. Yeah perhaps I didn't phrase my question very well. That's what I was asking. I mean we could the pandemic change the cap for twenty twenty slash twenty twenty one and then how you are in your spot able to to manage. I realized. Of course you'll deal with it when you come to it but is that something that you guys are looking at as a possibility who will. Yeah we don't know the CAP That's going to be something that I think is GonNa Happen with the Players Association. And the League. There's a mechanism we have two years left in our collective bargaining. There's a mechanism where where the player gets fifty percent of Hockey relate revenues In any over go off off of next year's COP I don't think that the League is looking to reduce the CAP Even even if we you know the numbers that are out there that we don't play again a potentially a billion dollars of revenue that's not going to be seen. I don't think you can five hundred thousand five hundred million go to the players. I don't think you can reduce the salary cap on minimum one-year so there's GonNa be some negotiations with the players and the lead to find a cap that works for everybody And and you know like our team is we have twenty. Two players signed that Or Twenty one player signed At at Seventy nine million dollars on an eighty one. Five capsule were wearing a weren't a decent spot. But if the cop let's say the upper limit went down to seventy three. I'm not sure if If more than five teams could could put a team on the ice like that so as as we sit here and we're approaching the middle of May Knowing what you know being inside the conversations that you're inside of is your expectation that we will see the twenty nine hundred twenty twenty season Have a champion when it's all said and done if you were if you were looking at it from probability standpoint well yeah I think that That's hopeful we're you know we're we're basically at the at the mercy of of Medicine Modern Science To to get this pandemic under control reading them back and play. I know the League is planning on and working towards Finishing and that's where you come up with those formats of of safe cities or fourth thirty with them goes to There nobody wants to see a a year when there's not a Stanley Cup if you look at the Stanley Cup now When there was a lockout there's a there's a basically a three inch by three inch blinks base that year not played. And we've we've award the Stanley Cup Every year except two one was in nineteen eighteen. I think for the Spanish flu pandemic and the lockout so I think the League would love to have a championship team out their names inscribed on the company. Doug we appreciate your time so much for joining us and we look forward to seeing the blues back on the ice as soon as possible. Thank you very much. Stay say thank you to so there. It is Doug Armstrong with us here on the Tim mckernan show and I think blues fans can come away from that and think. Wow it sounds like he really expects there to be hockey this year and the way they're building it out is we're going to start the regular season for next year in December and so as soon as we can get on the is. We're GONNA backtrack to whatever gives us the amount of time that we want to finish this thing. Sounds like some time in September and as soon as we can get on the ice that means we can finish the regular season then great and if players on teams that are in last place or second to last place or have no shot at getting playoff. Don't play okay. Let's tough luck. You GotTa get paid if you WANNA get paid. That's how you get paid. You play I'm curious What people think when the Here with Doug Armstrong had to say regarding that regarding the blue status regarding how this would be handled and regarding Alex potential. That's the question that most people really want to hear. And he says what's going on right now does not impact what will go on after this season as some wonder if the pandemic could cause the salary cap to be reduced and would that impact His situation you're welcome to give.

The cardinals were playing the Astros at Roger Dean Stadium and I not only saw the way. He's playing defense but I also saw the contact I think he had a few hits that day at least two and speed and I thought man this guy. He's he's one of those guys is Dick for meal would say when he was the head. Coach the rams. He's just he's flashing. He's flashing and that stood out to me and I remember talking with my father-in-law's matter of fact and saying I don't know who he is. I mean I I guess I've heard the name but I don't know I'm just curious to see what winds up happening with. Then sure enough. We see him in Saint. Louis become a key part of the cardinals run to the Central Division title eventually to the NFL CS so getting his back story And also his perspective on a wide variety of topics but Coming up not just through the minors but coming up as a as a youth player and then high school and college and also his perspective on some current baseball topics. DOT COM. He is our guest sponsor. Every week on the Tim mckernan show and our guest. This week is Tommy Edmund. Tommy thanks for joining me. I appreciate it man. Congratulations on twenty. Nineteen and also getting married. Thank you very much is a definitely a very crazy year. A lot of events going on twenty nineteen but offer. I would say so so. Let me start with like watching a game here. And you guys are playing the Astros last February with my wife and my son and And my wife's parents and I go. I don't know man but this guy at second base flashing I mean. He's clearly like it's not like they were just playing like randoms. I mean there was. There was the standard lineup. And there you are at second base like these pretty good. I'm like an insurance like a couple of months later there. You are doing your thing in your mind at that time. If you can take yourself back talked about getting married now you'd become a guy it's a regular in perhaps one of the better hitters on the club. Were you thinking I know I belong and I just got to get my shot. What's what's your mindset at that point because you gotta get your chance in order to prove it but clearly you had the ability I mean you already proven that now but you needed to get shots. What are you thinking about? A year ago. I think last year in in In spring training I kind of just took it as an opportunity to show the coaching staff. Would I could do. I feel like the big league staff hadn't really seen me play before And I had a little bit success spring training last year so after that I had confidence to think. Hey I can I can compete at this level And I think when I got called up kind of drew upon that experience And obviously had to take off from there. Yeah when when you're playing in spring ball some guys are just like are they going to go through the motions of innings? I want to get out of here when you get on the golf course. Whatever yeah for you. It's a chance to prove What stood out to you about what you were doing last year that you felt like our I I can hang here man not gonNa Hang. Excel I I I think I had like a triple Afshar That'll center masters one of the First Games and It might have been a couple of weeks but I think that was the moment where I thought. Okay I if I can get hits off shares or that I mean. He's the best pitcher in baseball. Right right I can hit off anybody and I think at that point I just it. Just boosted my confidence in the carry that over and started the year really aaa and then continued into the major so a lot of guys they kind of already crowned when they're like twelve years old that this guy's got it. What was your story was your story of the Guy. That just kept grinding. They go man at probably GonNa work out and then you just keep going well. How what was your story coming? Up as far as recognition of talent I I think I mean I was definitely never one of the top top prospects Going back to high school I was. I wasn't a huge guy so I was never a guy who's always the deal so they can ignore yeah. I deserve to be ignored but yeah I was. I was never a guy who's GonNa get drafted out of high school But I had success in high school and I think I just continue to play well each level I went to and I'm sure there were doubters. Thought okay the next level he gets to. He's going to get He's GonNa get exposed but I just continued to have success at each progressive level I guess I just grabbed it kind of gradually made my way up and Just didn't really get out of my game with each level that I went to All found my way up to the majors. You that you're like okay. Maybe I can do this. I mean obviously sure contracted. That's one thing like you know. Is there time where you're going? Yeah we all want to do it. But then they're the guys who actually can and you're doing it wanted it. Hit you that okay. This actually might might be live for me. I think I always had confidence in myself to have the chance to play in the majors. probably going back to Stanford when I when I started to have more success at In the PAC twelve which is one of the baseball conferences in college and I had after my sophomore year. I played really well on the Cape Cod and I know that the case is kind of well known for Major League baseball players so it was probably around then around. I thought that I had a good chance to make the majors. Yeah and as it's progressing and you get that call. What's that moment like? Take me back to the moment it. I mean it's something that so many kids dream of you actually get to live that moments. Like how did it all go down? It was unreal. We're we're in Reno Magic at the time In Memphis calls me into his office and informs them getting called up. Obviously there's a the moment you've been dreaming of your entire life like you're saying and It's called my parents and Called my fiance at the time is now my wife and Both screamed out of happiness and They're able to get get on a flight out to Chicago to be there for that game the next day and I actually had a crew of about ten to fifteen people that were there to watch me and we're able to get their whole lot of notice. Usually about twenty four hours of notice so I was. It was amazing that they were all able to make it But yeah just I mean that's just the Moma you always remember as a kid and especially for my first game to be at Wrigley too. I think it was a Sunday night. Baseball game and Just the crowd was very rowdy and can step on that field. And Wow Okay. This is it. This is what it's all been about all all that's where so as the year goes on last year. Not only you in the major leagues. But you're excelling. Do you get to a point where it's like okay. I don't WanNa say it's old hat but you're you're at a point where you're comfortable and you expect success yeah I feel that during the baseball season. There's not really time to kind of get in your head that much You kind of just every game just like the next game. It's not baseball. The baseball hasn't changed. All you're just playing it at a different level and With way more fans watching I guess but At a certain point you kind of you. Don't you don't really notice that anymore. I'm not Fisher when that when that moment happens. I just remember thinking that the Games that we played in September weren't really any different than the Games we played in October. It just Kinda felt like a continuation of the season So it wasn't like the extra cameras really affected me at all. I I I think at a point last year I kind of just learned in Figured out how to just treat it like a game of baseball again. The first time you walked into the clubhouse With some of them and there are some guys probably GonNa be winding up in Cooperstown when it's all said and done who are in there with you. Is that a weird thing especially here in the Wrigley clubhouse. It's not exactly it's bigger than it used to be but it's not exactly expansive the call has Wrigley even though it's One of the smaller ones in the majors still better than any clubhouse in good perspective But yeah I mean getting the I think more happened. The first big league spring training I went to and that was when I met guys like yeah and it was probably more at that point that I started to realize that I was with guys who are going to be in the hall of fame. One day And then last year when I got called up. I'd I'd kind of gone to spend some time with them during spring training so I was a little bit more comfortable but still to actually be on. That team was incredible. Hope you enjoyed the conversation with Tommy here on the Tim. "Here on the Tim mckernan show questions from the audience. Gangster Pete you're alongside alongside iggy made a One Week Kamya last week didn't really feel like he wanted to be here but he performed is good. He performed But you are here whether you like it or not and so So you will be called upon for some. What some wonderful questions including this one? which is from your buddy deeds? Shout do I'm a big guy. and what he he submits these questions and your friends group chat to see if they think that that will get ready tweak. Is that what he does. Yeah I mean he he likes he he. He's had a few the having gotten read right now he likes to check the readability. So this was I notice. Usually there's submitted kind of late night. This one was sent at four in the afternoon at few vaca drink steep pill Fired on all right here. It is up Tim. If you find yourself. Stranded on a tropical deserted island castaway style which of the following three objects. Would you most want to have with you number. One Swiss army knife number two fishing pole number three sex robot a really sophisticated one All she can do is jump on your poll or your face or whatever like you can't use her super strength to break open coconuts build a shelter chop down trees or anything he can only bang or going to sleep mode. Oh and she can't talk either. I I mean she can moan and stuff but she can only speak in binary like one. Oh one one. Oh One oh one oh one oh one oh one oh I appreciate a well thought out question now so not great at conversation or keeping you mentally stimulated thanks that comes from deep against her Peterman. You've already been briefed because you saw this in the in the group group chat but What is your answer so I would talk sex robot if it's like an x mocking style? Yeah that's why I left. I left that part out that he he doesn't say anything about not being able to take parts of it apart to us like a utilitarian manner than you can put it back together. Well yeah that was a missile defense part. So I'M GONNA One SEX ROBOT ROBOT I the Swiss army knife practically seems like the right play. However but I'll go go sex robot just a bad beat the across the across the board and once again so provocative that's deep Oh Hey we're we're I'M GONNA I'M GONNA bail on this. I just got a text from Cayden. And she's available to do the podcast right now. Boom we might as well do it. And we're bad so I don't don't know exactly what the edit point is get repeat I think we both picked sex robots. Now whatever we want to move onto right the the situation was answering Q.. F. Ta and In in friend of the of the program Cayden Cross Ross texted me. We talked about her being on the On the podcast that she was tweeting in I in my mind still she sleeps until ten but I guess she is the mother of a Of a six year old at this point So that those days are over and and I And she said Hey if you WANNA do the podcast I'll Now's good and I'm like Carr's do it now. So we broke away from Q.. FDA fresh off of deeds and now we have a Fifty fifty five minute conversation with a cane cross gangster. I know you were tending missile bookkeeping while I was talking with With Cayden but for deep teasing for the listeners. is this owed will come out Anything of that Standout to you yes. She is a super well-spoken. Not exactly what you'd expect from the industry. And she's obviously very sharp. I really enjoyed listening. multitask was thinking. Because it's kind of like the cat loves to say L.. They're smart and clean and it's like a running joke which is like poking fun at me for saying well you know. They're Out Hall because it's just kind of like this thing where we should on anybody who's on in porn which is whatever it's fine I. It's kind of like a running joke on the show but I've known her for I guess eleven in years and she is an intelligent woman and I think but I see I know it because I've known her for that long but I also understand that when you hear like some of our other friends who've dropped by the radio program who are in the industry It doesn't necessarily sound the same conversations a little different. You can tell immediately that she sharp. Yeah has your shit together. And that's why and so we talk about it. I guess As deep tease I mean for Correal I guess trying to think one it would have been. It might have been like during the man and woman thing where I probably still have email pill weird email to look at but for real I was going to. I don't I mean I don't know how far along was but in having a at the very least I'd been on the show a couple times the already lying show and they were interested me becoming regular and moving there and I made the pitch to them for her to be part of the show and she lived in La and that meant she would have been moving and And it was a real famous Mussa moves like a like we got. We would get on the phone in like okay what do you think and then how much do you need. Make okay this that this. So what's the you know the La New York dollar you know all of these things and And then something happened. Something happened for me and something happened for her. So there's your deep tease on that. And I think I think people so I was debating. Sell the questions me audiences this is like my confessional Honestly I was like okay. We've had all of this like it's gotten to the point now with this podcast is called show so I like to think it's a little more than the people who just go. Yeah I have a podcast and it's like you know there's three people listening But maybe I shouldn't think of it that way. Whatever but by my reason for distinguishing is? Because we've we started to get people to come on it because they look at WHO's been on IT IN A. Oh Shit look at this guest list. This is you know this is this is whatever the right word would be legitimate or it's you know it's a it's a nice thing to be invited to come in. And and some of those people are in politics government running for office and use this as a way to reach a segment of the audience in Saint Louis. That isn't necessarily easy to to reach like we're our young people listening to content that is local in Saint Louis. There aren't a whole lot of options and so in the back of my mind. I'm like okay I mean I I make no secret of who I am what I like and I realized plenty of people go out. He's a creeper. I disagree with that but I still like the show. Whatever whatever it is but I don't hide the fact what I enjoy In recognizing that I'm in my own at my own world but I'm in the minority. So the PODCAST MMA guest and point. I've always is kind of just kept it. You know I haven't gone like okay. Let's get take your pick of whatever you know. Let's get I don't know let's get. I Dunno pete the I'm trying not to let any random adult film star on and do one of those 'cause that's not really what I mean. Don't get me wrong. I find that stuff amusing. But that's not what this is is but with her Janey random stars more like a radio. Show thing that's what this this is someone that has something to say that as insight into the business smart. There's a a lot to I mean it's actually a business. It really has more business and so. I'm sure that there are some people. Like oh sweet talking to Kate and Cross and we're going to hear about anal ain't hall you know and it's going to be like you know here's the Revenue Pie in two thousand nine verse. Nineteen interesting too. Because she's all self taught you know not not. She learned from grownup industry mistakes. And how to do it right. I mean it's it was really interesting. I thought it was really fascinating. Yeah I mean I knew I knew this because I we've done a bunch of you know I guess radio interviews and whatever Over the years that I knew it'd be good like I just. I texted her to thank her. And I'm like Oh get that you gave me a minute notice and we just brattle off and we could have gone on forever. But I just didn't know what she had to do today so I was like okay. We've gone fifty minutes that's enough And there's other things I'd like to ask about but I mean like there was nothing sexual about it but I know that I just I just know the game like I was having Eh. If you have a porn star and it's like oh well see there he goes again like there's there's I can say this without saying too much but in corporate radio land in Saint Louis you know there are people who are aware of what we have and You know keep an eye on it so to speak speak and.

"tim mckernan" Discussed on The Tim McKernan Show

"Eighty late eighties i think point being you know that's something that i just don't think is healthy but i noticed that it's going on it's back to your email timmy recaps this strategy i'm just i'm telling you i remember there's a there's a i don't know if the movie somehow somehow there is video and i think our co host was marc maron i think of janine garoppolo reacting to the outcome of the two thousand four four presidential election they were part of that air america radio which never really took and and she was absolutely stunned and and what i'm telling you is just an i made the analogy to producer joe in two thousand twelve that there are hundreds of thousands thousands of americans who are just inverted impression that donald trump is not getting reelected in november and i guess it's possible i certainly won't be contributing to his vote total all i know that but i think he's gonna win he's gonna win again who knows what that i play early this in in november go hey remember you you gonna win well i would imagine in order for that to change something substantial is going to have to change between now and november twenty twenty which by the way is absolutely possible it's a hell of a lot more possible with this situation than than previous administrations campaigning for reelection will tell you that in my opinion but if the election were held today he would win and i think he would win comfortably so i would also tell you that if the election were held the day and he would win comfortably there would be people who go what the were like they'd be stunned because in their bubbles they have no idea what the pulse of of i don't even know how would say the country but the states that matter as far as what could swing the election and what matters well he has a shitty approval rating okay but it doesn't he's is going to win those states and already color in the rest of the map so here's where we are at the twelve owed years worth the electoral college and so i keep bringing that up because if you're in that bubble you think these strategies are working in israel did anybody watch patricia arquette speech last night and go you know what i was a big donald trump supporter but now the patricia arquette has accepted or best supporting actress nomination or award she's changed changed my mind that's not the way that it works and if anything it might alienate people which is why ricky gervais speech i believe resonated with so many people who consider themselves conservative hey motherfuckers your great actors your great actresses you happen to have won the genetic lottery with your appearances and your talents talents however that doesn't mean you're an expert on foreign policy or you're an expert on science and climate change so if you could accept your award thank the people who played a role in it and go on about your day and that resonates with p. that resonates with people that's what people i think like most about ricky jurors thinking then you just some people are like fuck fuck fuck her i'm glad that he should on her or shit on him but i think the thing that resonated the most is most most of you don't have much of an education relative to a lot of people because you already on your way in hollywood or an acting and therefore you have zero qualifications shins to spouse whatever political viewpoint you wanna get up here in a spouse when you win an award and i think a lot of people went faulk i hadn't heard of this ricky gervais sky before but god i love love him now and then if they were to listen to him on a podcast they'd go oh my god he hates donald trump and thinks he's a clown now they're conflicted but they don't know that when they're watching that that that monologue so i get it i get it i see it and listen i if i'm i'm wrong in november of two thousand twenty and these strategies actually worked i will be at the very front of the line saying i was wrong but as it stands right now i think all it's done on his alien interview you have a lot of people i remember watching bill maher up and this was a longtime might have been ten years ago where and i don't know who it was that was getting the support of racists and he said i understand what the person is but you need to say listen i i appreciate everyone's support however i do not want the support of racists not interested so it's it's amusing to me if i have a a perspective that would fall under the umbrella of being perceived as conservative and if it is it is news i'm i'm not saying it because it's conservative happens to be what i think and then that aligns with people who would be the ones who would espouse racism i'm not interested in their support i'm not and if my perspective happens to fall under the umbrella of that which would be considered liberal and it would be those people who try to take people out because they have a viewpoint point that they find to be offensive and therefore they're you know organizing boycotts trying to people's businesses shut down to that person shutdown whatever the case might be i'm not interested in their support either i actually enjoy the fact that i alienate even though i'm not trying to people on both sides it's not my goal but i guess it means that i am calling a ball ball on a strike strike which which is important because there's no way that one's i don't think any way that one's viewpoint can align one hundred percent with any particular political party it's just not realistic i i mean for as much as people like to say well what do you think about douglas politics are you shouldn't let doug he's the boss doug and his politics i'm like well i mean the one thing i will say about it is it sounds like doug has every single single republican talking point he disagrees with some of it and i respect that and he's passionate about it and even though i disagree with a lot i appreciate it and i don't think it's my responsibility eighty to start telling him he's right and he's wrong if i wanted to bait him i can debate them in that's that's been my approach on this but i personally when it comes to these kinds of topics believed that the podcast better format for me because i can give more context inevitably it's gonna turn into a disagreement and then people taking sides and dogs right thames right and it's not that's not what it's about i would rather explain myself in a people agree with they grew they disagree with that they disagree with but then you have a better idea of where i am opposed to inevitably somebody's going to interrupt and you can't get your and then then mr conversation it's just not really a good conversation people aren't listening thing so that's my that's my reason for by that was a great email i did not get through all the emails no surprise there if you set the over under three and a half i think we covered the over barely or are we just barely didn't cover it i don't know but anyway keep sending emails i always enjoy them fire away anytime mckernan inside s. t. l. dot com thank you to all of dr sponsors for making the podcast possible i'm tim mckernan this "The home loan expert that Com- studios this when I go into baseball nerd mode. Some people really like it. Some people don't like it. I don't know if you don't like baseball nerd them. This podcast at this moment probably won't be for you. Derek will than I talking it over regarding the cardinals what just took place here over the last really over the the weekend in some strategic decisions and also thinking ahead to what's to in the series series against the braves and I don't know about you gangster. Pete but I I some people really love when Derek and I go into full baseball nerd mode but he had his answer to a variety of these questions that I posed surprised me but then he laid out I kind of go oh I see what he's saying on on the rotation and also on what the cardinals might do with the lineup. What about you yeah always loveless dirk talk because you know it's a well thought out like he's thought of all the different variables so. I always look afford to kind of agreed with what I said about the pitching maybe holding back flaherty. He didn't say necessarily agreed but he saw the thinking of yeah the in that that's where we started started actually so you'll get to hear that right out of the gate as to whether they know that was something that cardinal fans were debating whether or not Jack flared should've started in the final game against the cubs and I give my counter counter to it is there after Derek presents his reasoning not that he was saying one or the other but he just said you can see the other side of it by whole thing's flaherty a has to pitch which if there were a the one game when sixty three or the wildcard game then flared can only pitched one game against the braves. That's been been to me that that's what you lose but you'll hear. Derek's reasoning also the cardinal rotation against the braves. I think this is going to surprise people in a big way and then the card a lineup on Sunday aren't for Thursday. Excuse me against Alice Kaikal not that we know he's the starter he's expected to be. The game one starter for the braves and in Derek's thoughts are on that in addition to the National League playoff picture and in who he thinks is a team that is flying under the radar and who he thinks is a favourite so we get all of those those perspectives from Derek you'll go into full baseball nerd them here on the Tim mckernan show. Derek is on the phone lines..

"You know it's a you know it's the teams like the Miami team with all due respect to Mr Ross how many changes if they may you know since two thousand and ten I mean you know you go to GM's and you go through head coaching Winston you change their philosophy and you go from where the ultimate say then you go to l. Coats say personnel you come back to JIM new. You're just I always GONNA be. They're never gonNA get over the Hump and so- stability national today is really important and you know unfortunately fear all of the Saint Louis football fans. There's no stability in the Ram Organization and they're going to be good for several years to call. You said you wanted to coach again. Do you think you will get that opportunity. You know that I don't know I I did forget how to folks you know I love the game I stayed. Put the game term with the game. I'm not going up you know the college opportunities they come up. I spent a lot of time last year or or so in the college game. The bottom line is is a loved game. I love to fall in love the sideline I missed it's the players yesterday with all to Billingham minder you know the the ram players that that for whatever reason no along with the warriors as needed so they're still there I still hear from a father figure that you become where they over time they begin getting to trust you and after type of thing if I could change the life of one player save a life career convention one player to Ah investments his money and liberalized on one. That's you know promoted by the NFL but one that's that's comes from a poem sense perspective then you know what getting back into coaching was worth it to me talking over Jeff Fisher here for on Tim mckernan show all of our sponsors make these interviews possible what Jerry Macklin last week at Pat Maroon a couple of times John Kelly Joe Buck these are our guests over over the last few subscribe to this show get on board.

"He is our guest presenting sponsor on the Tim mckernan show, and I've said to people who will reach out to me, hey, do you, do you know Mark? You know, I mean, you just doing a spot and I get that. And I, I never take offence to it because ever since I started radio and people hear me doing endorsements, they wonder so like with metabolic meals, which I started doing commercials for in two thousand ten and probably in about twenty minutes. I'll be having metabolic meals here. Eight years later, almost nine years later, if I don't believe in something, I'm not going to give some big endorsement. That's just it's just the way I can't do that. Can't do it. So when it comes to Mark having gotten to know him and then also knowing my own personal situation where I needed somebody like Mark. And I didn't realize I needed him till I got age forty, and I'm going, oh my God, I didn't manage money properly. I really passionately want to convey to the audience, the importance of having a financial advisor. And this isn't like RIC. We have to have like some kind of multi-million dollar asset management scenario here this this is this could be your in your late teens, early twenties, and just having organized and just setting aside smallest amount of money and what it can mean for you as it compounds over time. It's so easy. And I think I think what if I go back to myself in the early twenties, I'm just thinking to myself now the early twenties early twenties that I'm going, I don't really. I don't really need this now of Onoda 401K is who cares? And I wanna be able to go out and I wanna play poker and bat and travel and like, you know, whatever, I'll make money. Nope, save it then and his this like gross, let somebody who understands the program take care of you and his name's Mark Hanno with evergreen..
