"Later this hour p prisco our guy has his list of the top one hundred players in the league we'll go through one through ten type there any bears in there you could probably figure it out for yourself in terms of the top ten but pete's got forebears in all his top one hundred so spent some time on that later on mike north scott his best play one forty five don't forget to join mike and me tonight from six to seven tonight never friday night from six seven after waddle and silvy for the odds couple we'll you except for the weekend lots to talk about i got a bunch of n._f._l. future stuff to talk about with mike so we're going to have fun tonight at six juicy my college features i had out that day too i you handed over under still over a hundred as we also got prove big about those yeah i think yellow noise at three oh my god northwestern six and a half so i'm not brushed up yet really taking a look Yeah. about your rights chew on let's talk some baseball now the white sox are at home tonight against the twins they still have a name to starter maller and i can't even think who it's going to be i mean you got three starters two of them stink i think i think there's four games five hundred going to get the ghosts to britt burns to come by i don't know what they're gonna do rich dot click cubs are in cincinnati to start a road trip to wrap the first half of the season and talk baseball we got our buddy tim kirch in he's with carmen and your go on e._s._p._n. one thousand and e._s._p._n. chicago dot com tim how are you Good. Pitching neck. the old left the up on the bump and i i mean i don't know what they're gonna do and you've got a formidable opponent and probably the best offense in the american league and they have really very little pitching but you know what is the white sox fan it's still been an enjoyable season to him i mean good things are happening and they've played exponentially better than they did just a year ago yeah i would be excited for a white sox fan because you're starting to see the young guys you're seeing conic come into his own seeing you know do some really good thing if all really long way you're saying timur just got her really taking the next step in development to being really good player and of course lucas g lido and great and more young pitching is on the way they're not going to the playoffs this year but if they stay like they are now around five hundred mile mile contention pretty darn good for team that do wasn't supposed to do even that much this year too we always wondered why mike rizzo was so quick to kind of move on from gio lido a guy who is really highly touted when he was young you know maybe the injury had something to do with it i don't know but you know we always said yeah mike rizzo doesn't make bad trades really why are they so eager to get rid of leader and then the way he pitched last year think white sox fans we're kind of like i guess that's why he's not very good and now he's had this incredible bounceback season i know he hasn't been great his last two times out but he's really flip the the script here i mean do you have any idea why he kind of fell out of favor so quickly and were you confident that he always had this in him well i always heard that he had and just don't forget they had a chance to get ambers miller in his prime for the stretch run and the miller that changed the games where you know for the orioles and then for the indian and the national would not give up jay leno to get andrew miller and then you know a year later they just put them in a package for atta meeting and that doesn't follow and i'm still not sure what happened i just think it was a question you know does he have enough not just stuff but the other the intangibles to be really good and clearly he does and i'm surprised still at the nationals moving along the day that trade was made i think all of us baseball writers kind of looked at each other like what is this and now we're starting to see that our confusion was well-founded how about the twins i mean they're you know the the yankee offense everybody healthy i mean maybe better we kinda split here but statistically no offense in the american league has been better more dangerous than the minnesota twins and it's half the season i mean they really looked the part of a ferocious offense and can they do some damage come october yeah i'm really i'm not surprised that twins are much better than last year be this much better i didn't see them leading in homers runs scored virtually every import categories but they can really swing the bad nelson johnson's go marlins dollars new guys by reflexively got hurt started to find some things and they just pounded now was r._e._o. kepler they can really hit now i thought they'd go get dallas tikal or craig kimbrel and they got neither and i don't think i think they need to look at madison bumgarner and see if he's available will smith giants who's having a tremendous year so it'll be real interesting to see where the twin go from here as far as quiring players because no matter how well they played i just can't see them being better than the astros went october is or better than the antes went october ride so we'll see how aggressive they are at the trade is cleveland seller or a buyer i mean at some point said that wasn't linda or somebody said we weren't gonna end up signing with them yeah the team said linda did they trade him with all this control laughed is it makes sense for them to trade him this year tim to really like maximize toronto no and i think they should be buyers because they have played themselves with a really good month of june back into contention i think for just one of those wildcards i'm not saying that to win the division but my clever is back now and they're gonna get cold back at some point although he's he's going to be awfully rusty winning comes back and so they if they get in any way get their pitching healthy they could be very dangerous team in october if they could line up that entire rotation completely healthy 'cause i think it was the best in the american league when the season began then we've got hurt but the way they swung the bat you know fifty owners or so in the month of june so they're finally starting to swing i think they have to buy today have my not sell but keep in mind they don't have much money to buy so i think they might just stand pat lindores headed incredible month to tim kirch in is our guest it's carbon in your co on e._s._p._n. one thousand s._p._n. chicago dot com you mentioned all the home runs the indians have hit this month everybody's hitting home runs i think we might actually be able to add a home run i saw cody bellinger i thought it was a pop up to shallow center yesterday i get it it's colorado it went out of the park i it is staggering we've kind of talked about it at nauseam tim but there's obviously something happening with the ball there's been some interesting reporting this week about it and it's very sort of math heavy in geeky and friction ratios and stuff that i just simply don't understand but you basically right now have like oh i think eighteen are trending to hit over two hundred fifty home runs that's only happened like six times in the seven times in the history of baseball it's incredible isn't it yeah and it's too much look i love the game i'm gonna always love the game but they're too many walks their way too many strikeouts and way too many home runs right now and i think the ball is different i've talked to people who say this ball is harder than the ball a few years ago others have told me it's smaller than the ball of the few years ago and i'm just not sure i don't think there's any conspiracy here i just think this has happened and i don't think it's good for the game because it's taken a bunch of little guys the time it will sell with all due respect and there is the ball out of the ballpark now everyone swinging that way and that's not healthy for the game that just invert lander becomes the first pitcher in the history of baseball to strike out sixteen and a game and allow three homers insane game me arguably the best pitcher in the american league right down giving them twenty one home run that's not healthy and there's all all or nothing game i think really not much not nothing between we really need to take a hard look at it you think rob manfred shares that sentiment he's sitting in the office going well we've gone way too far the other way yes i'm pretty sure well i know for sure that they discussed this many times i speed up the game how to get more action into the game but it's hard to get action into the game when you have this many strikeouts and this many walks this many hitters not even thinking about making contact as opposed to let's get the ball up in the air as far as we can and again i don't think that's a healthy situation what do you think of the all star selections and they've kind of tweaked how these guys are selected it seemed like everybody involved got it right i mean these all star teams look about right don't they yeah i think the fans did a really good job and even if they did i would be okay with that 'cause we need to keep our fans is involved as possible and that's one way to do it hundred his story is absolutely remarkable there was no guarantee was gonna make the team this spring you went to winter ball last year just to to revive his career now he's starting i mean i guess you can make a case a couple of guys that's better unions its first half than he did but i love the story i really liked the gap is the fan did overall how about craig kimbrel since we mentioned him earlier on the north side what did that do for the cubs bullpen well it was critical that they did something and they got the leading save leader of the save leader among active pitchers as first pitch yesterday was ninety miles an hour he's special pitcher whether a special arm and they desperately needed somebody because everything should be presented for all these nationally teams to can you beat the dodgers that's how good the dodgers are and i just see i couldn't see it all the cubs beating the dodgers that the bullpen they have now they certainly have a better chance because dodgers remain the best team in the nationally for sure the tampa bay rays playing in montreal how realistic is that as far as those at the city of tampa bay had something to say about this yes they do and that's why.

"I wanna go with fat Chris because he'd beat everyone in a race Guinea, pigs scoot as for what was the first question. I don't you're on with Tim Kirch. Go ahead. Chris. When players call a players only meeting. Do they call it a players only meeting or just call it a meeting? I think it's a players only meeting differentiate from a meeting called by the manager. They have a team meeting is almost always run by the managers players only just clarifies it. But I get the redundancy thing bothers me to me it's a t and it's t- if you order tea it's implied implied that it's hot. So you either order t- or ice T. You don't go snow skiing. That's redundant. There's skiing and waterskiing. Am I right about this? Yes. Have Tim have the players ever told the manager and coaches, they're having a players only meeting just to get them out of there because they bother them. I think they feel like a more effective meeting is done when they're no manager, and no coaches around because and that's usually teams that aren't so great. But I always think the best meeting went everyone in uniform their players will disagree and say, we can be a little bit more honest. If the manager and coaches aren't in here does Brett Brown looked like a guy selling his backyard Tiki bar on Craigslist. Doris Burke looked like the divorce court judge who peers it you over her glasses with disdain as your soon to be ex wife describes what you do for a living. Does Huby Brown looked like the Butler who arrives one minute after the front door? Mysteriously opens on a haunted mansion. You look like that not as much as Chris game. And looks like that. But he looks like that. Great. The painted area. That you're on with Tim Kirk Zach go head. That for stoop falls here. Just wondering if Byron Buxton was at the plate newer on second who would get home. I. Wrong. I'm sorry. I got distracted by reduction. We're what he's on second base. If you're you're on second base, and he's on for and he has to go all the way around to home plate, and you just have to get from second to home plate who wins that race. Okay. I have done the time trials on this. Because they told me at war. No, Dave Flemming that Billy Hamill beat me from home plate with me starting at second. I did this by myself. A pathetic two year old man went to a baseball field and ran from second home. And there is no chance that Byron Buxton beat me, and I can't run anymore. And I'm terrible. But I can run from second home before Byron Buxton beach. I think the bigger question is can Byron bucks and beat Mr. freeze and he should race him in the all star game. No, Billy Billy beat freeze. And we need to suck known even up. I mean, even up. Because I know Mr. freeze is a sprinter. But I'm telling you Byron Buxton is a sprinter. Also. And I think that would be tremendous race at the also wait a minute, Tim, you don't because we didn't make it home plate. We had Buxton at first you're second. Oh winds at first. Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you said he was at home if he's at first, of course, he'd beats me to the plate, of course. Okay. Maybe I've got that wrong. I don't know. I confused everybody there. I was told on the broadcast. Billy Hamill beat me starting at home and me starting at second. If bucks Billy Hamilton. I of course, they're going to be the more. We talk about it. The more confused. I get does Paul finebaum looked like the evil scientists discovered amid the ruins of his laboratory after the monster. He created escapes from itself. Brian you're on with Tim Kirk and go ahead. Go ahead, Brian. Hey, hey, Tim. What do you hate Pete Rose? He's a much better baseball player than Babe Ruth. And second question is parties the most gonna fusing board game ever made. What you Pete Rose? Second time..

"So we begin with Robert Robert, you're on with Tim Kirch in go ahead. Robert. ATM between who's going to win the nationally east. I think the Mets gonna take it. And do you tip on a Terry out takeout order at hooters stakes? Well, anyone four teams can win the east. I picked the nationals at the beginning. But I would have been just as comfortable picking the Mets Phillies or the Braves that is how competitive that division is. So I'll stay with the Nashville. So the moment, and I'm I like to think I'm a very good Tipper. But on a carry out order. I don't think you have to put it on the poll. Do you have to tip on a carry out order of drying, the crack the code here? Timmy, which of those teams in the NFL can't win it. They can all win. It all four of them can finish. First all four of them could finish four. I thought that was the hardest question as impre- in the in the exhibition sees who's the fourth. Best team is the National League east because all four ever good enough to win the division by the Marlins don't exist. Tom, you're on with Tim Kirch in go ahead. Tom. Hey, tom. I'm a casual met fan when I fill in at manager and win a major league baseball game. Thanks. I'm sorry. Will I be able to what win a major league baseball game as a manager fill in manager? Of course, you could. I mean, he gets up the garage thrown. You listen to your pitching coach. And yes, you could win a game as a major league manager. But Dan is going to totally disagree with me on this. It's a lot harder to manage baseball team and one baseball game. Then people think it is. But could someone off the street be the manager for a day and win? Yes. Because the players if they do what they're supposed to do some days. There's not that much to do you could do it. You can have -solutely do that job. The only trouble you'd have with that job is, you know, telling people things to their face that are unpleasant. I don't think you'd like that part of the job very much. Well, I would think at that. But Dan, I could not manage major league team is seriously. I believe this you don't and it's okay. I think it's a lot harder than people think it is. I would love to see Tim, courage and running out arguing a call with an empire like penelas style. Be polite about it, are you? Okay. Are you? Okay. Have you been taking your meds that what happened here with this? All Pedder certain certain. Okay. I'm sorry..

"I think it's a lot harder than people think it is. I would love to see Tim courage running out arguing a call with an empire. Like, Panella style polite about it, are you okay? Are you? Okay. Have you been taking your meds? Is that what happened here with Paul Pender certain certain? Okay. I'm sorry. I interrupted everything here. I'll just go back to the dugout. Thank you for your time. Vosa you're on with Tim Kirch in on ESPN radio. Go ahead Mussa. Com. When you order something pricey like a cow that's pretty expensive. And they give you double. Would you return it or just played out? Well, I would return it this happened to my daughter. She ordered a like a cooker like a grill, and they sent her to grills giant grill. She must have called twenty times say you sent me to grills. I don't need to grill not paying to grills. Could you please come pick it up for some? They couldn't understand that at all. And she had an extra grill in the middle of our living room for like a month. And finally, she just sold it to a friend of hers. So she could get it out of the middle of living room. So I would send it back immediately. And I would tell them come pick it up because it's too heavy. For beta move does Bill O'Brien looked like the dad who yells execute between pitches. Every time has three year old son comes up to bet in t ball game. Does klay. Thompson looked like the nightclub busboy who comes over to wipe down the floor with a towel when someone spills. They're drink. Does stand in Gundy looked like the guy when eating a hot dog has the hotdog slip out of the back of the bone. When trying to take the first bright. Right. It was all the. The best one ever. On your on with Tim Kirch and go head one. Who do you think regrets more not playing in the modern based on aero Steve Balboni, Cory Snyder or rob deer? Arrived deer with it imperfectly today even four than those other guys 'cause he was bigger and stronger than anyone who played basically until PO Jackson came along that's up big and strong, rob deer. Was he would fit in perfectly today was much more athletic than people gave him credit for. But he was classic kitted four hundred fifty feet or punch out. So he would be the best of those three to fit into today's game. Joey Gallo is. Joey Gallo is unlike any player before him in terms of being all or nothing. Correct. Dan, Joey Gallo, who I love by the ways. Great kid. He's smart. Good athlete. All that. He has no sacrifice flies in his career. And he's got almost a hundred homers. Think about that for a second. He gets the ball in the air a lot. That's what he does. He's never hit a sacrifice fly. He's coming up on fourteen hundred old on that can't be right on the poll. Guillermo, it can possibly be right? That Joey Gallo has never hit a sacrifice fly. If your Joey gala, why waste time with a sack mistake. You would think you would get. And it was his mistakes. It's either a home run or it's a strike at how Joey Votto went. How many at bats without popping up to first base? Was it was a seven thousand Tim. Yes. And in between the seven thousand pop up Joe pop up to the first base, and I had this check today by the allies in Kinzler popped out to the first basement one hundred seventy two time. Actually, like me actually, look that stuff up and care about that. Willie moat paint. You had the most homers ever before his first sacrifice fly at this. And Joey Gallo is going for a hundred before he hits a sacrifice fly. It's an amazing thing. And and very much personify where we are in our game today. And you explain to me, how do you look that up? Do you go through every box score. And how do you find out that in kit's Kinzler, or do you just call somebody and ask allies call the alive sports are I can't find an easier. But they can find..

He is one of the sweetest people any of us have ever met before we get to Tim Kirk though, I wanna play a call from ninety seven point five the fanatic of that scrum last night. Was it a scrum? On this. Hubbub about racket records. Dan. Or not. Paul blue hullaballoo a Hurley Burley. Yeah. We can all agree. Any surround? It wasn't a tiff. It was much. I think I need to as Tim Kirk. And what was that last night, Tim Kirch, and how would you describe it? Using your veteran words Mun. Ills. How would you describe what happened between the bucks and the Sixers last night? Well, I've heard on your word, I think it was. No right to hang is a bigger than that. Smaller than that. I think it slightly smaller than a frac. Oh, come on. It's a Frankish. A is gets fracas. Let's go ahead and play the sound from ninety seven point five the fanatic. Joel be. Oh, my so he just with the bone. By he just fired a bowl poodles are interface of Eric Bledsoe. "John lesser was named the opening day starter for the Chicago Cubs shot or no shot. He will lead the cubs in wins and ERA this season. No shot. I'd say no shot. I that's why I asked tired of Jesse by him as the lead dog of the staff, but the number one pitcher on their staff this year is number twenty eight Kyle engine. That's what I was gonna say Hendrix. I just there's gotta be some small drop off. I think he's still going to be he's John Lester, we love you still going to deliver. Just can you do it again, a dad high level yet again, I'm just a little bit of drop off? But the other guys pick him up. Ideally, I don't have a bad. Yeah. I think he's have a good year. Got a great year. So that reason I think college is do free great year. I'm gonna go college. There you go. All right, next up sticking with the baseball theme. Tim Kirk chin on the baseball tonight podcast. He said this. Let's listen to the audio. And then I will ask the question. NFL central is loaded. We have three teams that I could see making the playoffs the cubs. The brewers and cardinals. I'm so impressed. What I've seen with the cardinals this spring. The reds are significantly better than they were last year. Not just with two outfielders who can hit the ball out the ballpark. But what they've done with their rotation and pirates. Remember, everyone thought the pirates gonna win sixty games last year. And instead they were even a mile competitor for a wildcard there briefly. They're not a bad team. But they're not a pushover like we have in some other divisions. So I think the central is the best because there isn't a bad team in that division. So that's Tim Kirch in Shannon. No shot. He's right. And the NFL central is the best division in all baseball Shah top to bottom, right? Kept wants the reds made on those moves. I said okay now, the reds are even decent. Where's the, Al? Where's the easy team? Moore's the seller loaded the division is the best in baseball top to bottom loaded.

"So he's just got to put the ball in play and move the baseball a little more than he did last year talking to David Ross. Michelle Pennzoil performance line. David we still we saw the big Aaron auto contract we've seen Machado and Harper now signed for three hundred plus million dollar deals. You weren't a player to all that let you you were a player not too long ago. I should say here all the claims that we've heard this offseason about the broken system surrounding free agency and the players mentioning a strike. Do you think a lot of those same claims are still valid now. Even that we've seen the gaudy contracts. Yeah. No doubt. I mean, you've got you've got the top tier guys are picking up some money, but you got those mediocre guys. Or even some some studs are still out there. Kimbro Tikal Marlene Gonzales. I thought was going to get a humongous deal. He got two for twenty one thought that was very undervalued. Claire, so yeah, I think there's some middle of the road players. And and even some some just under the top player guys that aren't getting paid or the length of contracts that players feel like they deserve. So there's still a broken system out there. And I know players aren't real happy about it. Adam wainwright. I can't remember told BUSTER Tim Kirch in that he believes it's one hundred percent certainty of a strike the way things are right now. What do you think? The odds are that coming up, and and how significant this might be a possibility, but work stoppage. When the CBA is up. Yeah. The CBA is going to be a scary moment for baseball. I hope that the two sides can come to some sort of agreement before they start to to fix the system. I think. You know, the owners are definitely leading the charge here and kind of taking advantage of maybe this CBA and where the players union. Kind of getting stick to their guns or get the things that that may be valued. Now that they they would go back and do. So I think there's an extreme worry from from. Everybody's perspective that this may be this may be a work stoppage CBA. But I as a baseball fan. I hope not David is far has one more overall on the Phillies in the bedding world there over underwent from eighty six and a half to eighty nine and a half as far as an odds of making the playoff improved as well. Where do you see them in the division? Are they easily the favourite and then in the National League where do you see them? Definitely not easy to favor the vision for me. I'm either going to be good. But this division is extremely extremely difficult. I think the Mets are going to be released. Good. They've got great starting pitching along with the NATs. Think the national surprise somebody? Maybe again, we put them in the top for many years now. But this may be there some great young talent. And their starting pitching edition of Corbin. I love what the brain of the race on the division last year. Nadan Donaldson finally get some protection for FREDDY Freeman along with the Phillies. So this may be the toughest division in the National League. And but they're at the top there in that mix for me all those teams are there. Some really really good talent in that east and in the National League right now, and they're definitely in that mix. All right. So we got the breaking news from David Ross Phillies wasted three hundred thirty million dollars. More wind division got appreciate it. Just kidding. Just getting thanks for being with us this morning. We'll see what happens. Always great to talk to you guys. Could you imagine? Yeah. In a world if the nationals win that division this year after this move people would be horse poop and not the fun way. Not in the good way. The horse poop as well. That's well if they if they don't win the division. I mean, I mean, forget not winning the division. If they lost the division to the team. You just got Bryce Harper from the abject held that would be unreal. And again the forth game of the season. They open with a home set do the Phillies against Atlanta. And then the fourth game. I believe April second is at Washington. So keep an eye on that one. And then you go to his bigger topic of the strike and the paying, and I guess that's because that's what I was the foot soldiers is the term I like to use you see the high paid guys, but it's the middle of the road. And I don't know what's considered the middle of the road in major league baseball. You know, what do you wanna go down to? I'm looking at salaries from two thousand and eighteen and what guys made is middle of the road is is it under under ten million dollars. Is it under five million dollars? Stop at ten million dollars with one hundred twenty four players you stop at five million. Dollars with two hundred and forty one players. They're seven hundred fifty players in major league baseball, so still the majority are going to be lower than that. So those are the guy that a lot we're talking about the rich are gonna get richer. We know that. But in right now to me, it's only basketball or the foot soldiers are getting paid because they are making huge money in there. And it's a smallest roster out there for the money is definitely filtering down in baseball. There is no cap. There is no like NBA five years, and you get this three thirteen year deals going on right now. So that's who's getting hurt as the middleman gets hurt and this. All right. So let's take this one step further. Right. Because we all know baseball almost destroyed itself in the last work stoppage, the strike that ended. There wasn't a world. Ninety four baseball do itself. What the world wars could not do stop a World Series from being played. And it took quite frankly, the the steroid homerun era and Cal Ripken. Breaking Lou Gehrig's record to really bring people back to the game. So now, we're in a situation with baseball. Well, while revenues are up attendance is down the average fan. I think of major league baseball is fifty seven years old that is by far the oldest of the four big sports in this country. If there's a work stoppage when you're seeing a Manny Machado for a three hundred million dollar contract when you're getting Nolan Aaron autos contract at a higher value than any other position player, and he can opt out after a few years when you get a thirteen year contract for three hundred thirty million dollars. How is that going to play in a sport that needs a positive perception? Not well like horrifically right above. I just don't see how that's a win. Well, I support. I guess my point would be how does it affect you the consumer if for in Philadelphia in San Diego are the prices going up, you know, let's be honest. Okay. You can love your team. But, you know, love comes to watch on TV, buying jersey going to the game paying for parking buying a beer, if all of a sudden that all goes up, and you can point and say while the players are making all this money. And now, I'm going to say I'm paying for it and more goes into it. But we know it's revenue and part of it is ticket prices. So I think it would be unsalaried on on ticket price. How does it affect the consumer? If all of a sudden, we decide in the sky we've got a chance to maybe win now. But all of a sudden, I get jacked, and I gotta pay five more bucks. Ten more bucks for a ticket. And I got a family of four. So that's forty bucks. Did they Jack parking? Did they jumped the concessions as well? That's all stuff. I think is where where the big effect is Phillies sold one hundred thousand tickets after signing Bryce, I did they did they did. It is interesting because you hear all this more the players, and you heard David Ross he thinks it's going to happen. Adam Wainwright said this is going to be a hard sell for sport. That is trying to sell itself right now to get back into a more relevant mindset in the average sports fan in this country. When you see these monster deals and the ratings are down and the average fan is older. Really, you're walking out over those kind of contracts. I think that's going to be a very hard that and Mike, you know, this. That's what people see they see the headline. They see thirteen year three thirty. They don't think of the foot soldier where the players make collectively all think of that. But as we know the people looking at the situation are gonna look at the big headline and not so much go down and really start to break down what the players are actually fighting for. And that's what it always comes a. We heard Eric Winston who brought this up when it came to the NFL's negoti. Where he said he's not concerned about the future of the game. That quote got misappropriated was more to say, listen, we're worried about the short-term you the NFL owners have to worry about the life of the NFL because that's your money. Your money is long the players money. And as you mentioned the median really of the players money is on the shorter term side. Even in baseball words, guaranteed more often than not and all these great things about your still on the shorter path career side. So you can afford to strike in order for you. Right. Because you have that sort of desperation in that in some sense. And that's probably not the right word to convey in that situation. But the owners they're trying to make this a more long-term investment. So you point to them and say, hey, listen to ball's in your court, you want to keep this thing afloat you're gonna shoot yourself in the foot trying to undercut us the amount of money. You want to throw our weight xactly, right? Be careful what you guys wish for you just might get it, and it took a long time. And a lot of stuff that baseball doesn't want to talk about anymore to get that back. And now we may be headed down that path again, by the way to your point about what happens if the nationals wins. Win the division right now. Updated win totals via west gate, Las Vegas. Nationals and Phillies both projected to win eighty nine game. Boy that would be interesting, especially in the short term. Outside of that like vibe y modernist Alger the production on that was like my favorite. I think out of everything. Yeah. I think like Deion closed environment. That was created was unreal. Yeah. He looked nuts. It also. But I mean, obviously like the easy ones of like eighty one twenty three tour in the ones where we have friends on. We're just the the energy around the shows or just like backstage, everything it's just a good environment. I think that's fun. Because I mean, I just look at it like even a show day is like the feeling of hanging out back there, and everybody's really comfortable something when you're on a tour where they're they're supporting somebody or we have like some openers that you're not that close with just the vibe of the show feels different to me totally like less feels more like Kim feel like work, but not just like the day. Yes. Feel like work, which changes everything totally. You can go grab lunch with like the openers and go hang out with other people and like what? Not. It's like it's just a really good feeling, and it feels like more vacation than I'm at work right now. Yeah. Totally. Twenty three twenty twenty one twenty two. I saw that we. "For. In Boston kids. Fuck. It was like a street fair. And it was like so big and we'd just loved all the clothes. And like, yeah. But honestly, I think that's why Ryan ended up quitting with a look of it. Because of that, really. I think he was I think so I don't I think it got too serious. Yeah. I think he was uncomfortable with the with the change in. And then it was too. I mean, I think that has to do with it because right when those conversations were happening is like he's stopped kinda showing up to practice on time. And like he was just like, I don't I don't think we're we're starting to get like an actual response from labels, actually. It was JR Adams label. That he had his brother was an are there that he actually reached out? I remember, and it was like interested in the band because it was banned. And I remember sending in the Email like, oh, this is hip hop label. This is a good sales pitch to let them know that like means actually kind of going to be leaning more hip hop. Yeah. Yeah. Never got a reply. But he reached out. I think it was like that's not why I was trying to sign you guys. I like that song days. But I mean, you instantly had. We get multiple labels reaching out very early on. That was a four that even before the Brighton tour. It was fucking crazy. I mean before the first show, obviously. Yeah. Well, the first show there was a mortal came out, and it was like I remember going in. I mean, we talked about it on the podcast. But it was like it went from like. You're not you're just a local ban to like holy shit. This things like go. How long you think it took for you to like realize because he was I mean, obviously like an Arbor was bigger than us. We first started this providence you were like not managing, but you were still like helping them. And like they were getting big tours like when did you? And it kind of always felt in the beginning. Like, we were kind of the back seat because like how many fans, and then all of a sudden it was like kind of undeniable that they were going to be the one that did it a thing. I liked the pop side of it more than when you guys are doing like the heavier stuff. Like, I remember live like, you guys are my favorite live band ever. Like the show. You guys sit at the hub box kids that was like that was eight hundred people at a CD release show. And that was like. Unreal. But like from like music, and like seeing where it could go number like, I think obviously early on like listening to like, you know, starting line and new found glory, and like more of like the pop punk side of things I think like troop one to one and this providence, we're kind of more like in that category. Where I felt like I could see like I kind of ROY Moore, and you see the future in it. Yeah. I think when you became the seasons company, and then was like feeling even more of it. And then I think when John, you know, actually joined the band, I think that was like the moment of like, you have a singer that could actually do this. And that was like a big turning point. And then I think like that February like the couple of weeks after when the band formed was like this is actually real we need to like this is going to be a career. We're going to go for it. Yeah. I know it was like. It all kinda just like happened so fast that we couldn't even really think about it. I mean. All the sudden we were like as big as the bands that we were looking up to or Italy or or beggar, and we didn't even realize it when you guys were bigger than Brandon on that entire to or from I two or. Yeah. Yeah. And they were like our favorite band ever? And that was like, wow, this is happening. And I think like I mean, my space was such a massive role in like fans, adding the songs, I think it spreads so quick. And do you think like? What what made it? So we never got complacent. And like always we're trying. I mean, I think that's the biggest thing that we've done is. We've just always. Done something new and always wanted to do like some type of innovative thing. And not just go through the the motions. It would have been really easy to just like get on a record label, and then just kind of. Do what everybody else did, you know? I mean, I think it's like something inside of us more. So than like, something we have to force like, even you know the day after the festival it was like, what can we do better already thinking about it? Like, I had the moment of like. Wow. That was awesome. Yeah. But it's all I'm already thinking about like, you know, we we need more food trucks. We need better hospitality for the fans we need like all these other things that could have been better. Yeah. And maybe ninety percent of the fan based in it even have an issue with anything. But it's like how can we make it better? It's like it's like even posting the new song because that just happened. It's like you read all the all happy comments. And you're like, okay. And then you get down. You're like there's like this. Always sticks with your like, you could read one hundred comedy say. And then the one that's like full can Bomer. Al none of that negative stuff. Ever gets to me ever. I mind with that. That I think it's more like how do you make cast in? I don't even remember that. It's there never I are strong people. So excited about them. Like like like right now, it's like my favorite time. Is it feels like the momentum is like going up like like? Mike like roller coaster and as opposed to just being excited about that. I just wanna do more told it's just like going up. So I'm like, well, let's fuck it. Put more gas on it and make go more and more and more than I it's like we're in the fucking studio yesterday. We just got done with like the biggest thing we've ever done. We put a just announcing the record, and we're already in the studio doing more shit. It's like, but I think that's back to the point. I think it's just inside of us at this point, even something we have to force totally things like who we are as people, and I think like even seeing like the festival come together. I was talking to Brian about this. It's like it's so interesting that the group of friends we have and the people that we work with everybody has these like random unique skill sets. And then everybody comes together and big things can happen because of it like, I can't build this pop up shop til, but Kenny and Gable Justin spent so much time, and they did it really quick. And it was like flu. Flowing out of them. It wasn't like this force thing like crazy hours. I mean, they built a desk for me in the back in an hour. Yeah. It's not. And it's like, I think it's like we have a great group of people. But it's like all of us kind of have this fire us to do more. Always. Yeah. Which I think like part of me like I wish I had more of like stay like sit with like the feeling of the festival for a little bit longer. Don't always move

"Hello. Welcome to the eighty twenty three podcast. I am here doing this intro without Garrett 'cause I am laying in my bed. And he's a home. But today's episode has been a long time coming we have Tim Kirch. My brother our manager the founder of Eighty-one twenty three the person that makes it all happen with us. Yeah. Very excited for you guys to hear this. It went very long. So we did a bonus episode talking about ideas that we have for the the the the future of eighty Twenty-three in what what we wanted to do next. So we will be posting not soon too. So yeah, thank you guys for coming to the fast. Those of you that did if you didn't next year we love, you hope you're digging. The new song go preordered the new record on her site. You know, the drill anyways. I'm just going to get right into the episode because it's a long one. Hope you enjoy it. I love you very much take care. He's out. We're here at the breadth the door we never done one here normally ride the studio. So you might be able to hear some cars drive by. Yeah. I was thinking we could put it cone in the middle of the road and tell people that can't drive down van Buren. I think we just put it in the back room now is buying. It'll be fine. We'll we'll do it in the future. Yeah. Oh in the future. We'll do it in the toilet. We can we can build a little podcast thing. In in the back. We had to put some some soundproofing up or something that'd be much echo. Have you guys ever covered yet from the weekend? No I on twenty three weekend. Well, I just dropped everyone off at the airport. And what is so it's Thursday, and you had five people at your house. Yeah. I had five people staying at the house besides one night. No there sits six because one St. one night. Oh, yeah. So we we had a full full house. So it was like getting it was just like it kind of kept going after even the fest was over and says three three four extra days of. Hey, mighty. That was the the best part having everybody that has worked with us over the years come out and be that stoked. Yeah. It was when. Surprise that that many people would want to come to our show. Like, I always feel like. Oh like you made friends. Yeah. Like like, our friends are really like like are banned or like like like Mike wanna come to a show. And then it's like oh everybody actually wanted to like, no I just like two two nights in a row. So Sunday I woke up, and it was just like. Just like it was just like, whoa. What happened last night? And I'm like the best to take a shower. And I like look at my phone and Kristen like posted something, and it was like all of our friends like singing Mars, and I was like holy shit. And I like started choke up because it was like not only is like you can hear of the people. But it was like just our friends like just as pumped in Maimi like really emotional house like that. No, it it made me feel good. I don't know. I don't know why. Yes. I I don't even know if I necessarily know the full details, I I'm Gary Nunn either like the the eight hundred two hundred three parking garage. How did that start? Because that's where the name comes from. I guess I don't know. Exactly. Even how that began. I I know that is a parking garage right by our parents house in but be. I'm pretty pretty sure rich and Gipson actually found it. And they would go there on weeknights early on just them to and go smoke prime times little mini cigars on the parking garage. And then I think probably like a month of them like hanging out there on their own. We all kind of started to go there. And then it became like skate spot. The hang out spot we go there before we'd go out at night. It was just like a. The whatever our clubhouse of meeting up there. Then we'd go out after that's I didn't know who started it. But that's what I yeah. I knew you'd go there and smoke cigarettes and curse. I'm pretty sure. That we've I've been there. I think we all went there before I think you've been there probably before we call eighty one twenty three when we were getting in that area because we'd go over to whatever those big warehouses behind there and go scape. When the funny thing the parking garage, where you actually hung out isn't Eighty-one isn't eighty one twenty three John had I had a panic attack. When we went and shot photos was it the last festival right before. Yeah. And he was on the roof. And when we pulled up the actual parking garage address was whatever eighty one three three or something like he had like a like a like a moment where you have like this little meltdown. I just saw his face. He didn't say anything but his face was like oh shit. We've named it wrong. The entire time. And then you go up on top. And you see. Yeah. So that was the spot would go hang out in that corner. And you could see it. So we just they called it Eighty-one Twenty-three what a fucking weird thing. Oh, yeah. Like for John just put that in song song? And I remember like I thought it was cool. When he did it seemed like oh, only he could write that line. Totally besides you got like, you know, if you guys maybe you do something. But like it it meant nothing to anyone and even our friends it was like our Goto spot to hang out. But it wasn't like we called our friends Eighty-one Twenty-three. Yeah. And then I think by the wording of Eighty-one Twenty-three means everything to me like him grouping it into like this these are friends as a whole kind of named it right there. Yeah. Because before it was just a place. You know what? I mean, just like, I don't even remember him. Do you remember him like talking about it? Then like when we were recording. I remember like just be like, oh, this is a place we hung. Out. But it didn't seem like I mean, I remember him just saying that we all roll along. Like he wanted to write a song about like, his friends, and I just thought that was just something for them. Yeah. That was in the crazy part was the part of the song and the dropout. No, no there there is ended up out in the open. I mean live you kind of became that. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I think the first time we did the drop was. Was it on the tour or was it on that? No, the eighty one twenty three tour because now like when we play like that's part of it. It just like that my hand goes to like, okay, stop here. We're like. Yeah, normal. It's not like the case. But it's just crazy. How like perfect that was. Yeah. Because I mean, I was we were sound the music management, which I don't even know what that means at all sound the music as what it was like I started. I started. I was sound the music management like sound the music sound, comma, the music, you'll come like, I was imagining in my head like a siren like sound the music. All right, which makes sense at all. "He was Tim Kirch and said this on ESPN say, I totally agree with him. Mariano Rivera is that the gap between Mariano Rivera in the second best closer in baseball. History is larger than any positional gap in the game. He was that dominant. He was that good. His postseason numbers were. Absolutely incredible performance was amazing. He totally deserves to have one hundred percent support. He's just not the first guy on that list for me. Thoughts on Clements and bonds. What are your thoughts on Sammy Sosa Chicago's Sammy Sosa? You know, what I did not vote for Sammy Sosa because I did not think Sammy Sosa had a hall of fame type career. I know he had six hundred nine home runs. If you look at how he performed in the offensive era that he was in the three forty four on base percentage was a killer for me. I you know, the the whole point of the game is to score runs. Right. And the best way to score runs is to get on base and Sammy Sosa because of that. And because of the defensive deficiencies that he had just did not make the cut for me. Which isn't which isn't a crazy me. That's that's a good people that had that argument while you know, we wondered it's you're going with you to like they deserve to be in guys like bonds and Clemens absolutely deserved to be and it's too hard to parse through the steroid era. But I think it is more open for debate on Sammy just on the merit, and you know, the type of player in that offensive era that he was so that that's a that's a fair assessment of Sosa's prime years. We've got a week left here. Just over in January. Are we waiting until February before Bryson Manny sign? Yup. If it happens if either of them happens before February, I it's going to be because the team stepped up and said, you know, what enough of this. We're just going to get this done because we feel like bringing an elite twenty six year old into the organization is the right thing to do. I just don't think any team out there right now is motivated to do that when others aren't moving. I think there's just gonna play the waiting game. Like the waiting game has been played with every free agent. And you said I don't know if you guys saw drew Pomeranz to two years ago was seventeen and six three three year. Don't keep his terrible last year. But the upside is enough where in the past he would have been a guy who would have gotten a year, you know, seven eight million dollars signed for a million and a half with the giants. The market has just straight up collapsed. And and it's collapsed at the top. It's collapsed in the middle of this collapse at the bottom is that collusion, or is it just owner intrigue isn't just smart baseball people saying there's something in drew Pomeranz after a bad year. And as he's gotten a little older, we don't wanna make the major investment. I think it's somewhere in between probably more toward the. Ladder because the fact is guys I don't think that teams need to collude anymore. I think that so many of them think so similarly, you know, they all have a big computer that spits out value and values gonna vary. You know on a one year deal a million dollars two million maybe among teams, but they all have set idea of what a guy is worth. And and I don't think they need to sit in the smoking room saying, hey, we're gonna tamp down on salaries. I think they can do that naturally. And I think they have numbers tobacco up, and it's difficult to prove collusion when they haven't sat there and said, we're going to do this. They just know they're going to do this. The Yankees moving. Sonny gray was them. Trying to create a little more more liquidity maybe to go make a stab at Bryce Harper. Manny machado. They're not in on Harper. They you know, they're sort of on the periphery with Machado. And I think if Machado doesn't get what he wants from the White Sox or the Phillies or or the mystery team that still has yet to be named. They they may take a they may take a shot at him. But I think the great thing was more that he just was terrible Yankee Stadium, and they didn't think that he can pitch in New York. And clearly the Cincinnati Reds believe that centigrade is gonna bounce back because they gave him a three year thirty point five million dollar extension as part of that deal. So I it's an you know, when Lance Lynn getting three years and thirty million dollars. I think it's a reasonable bet for Sonny gray that the fact though that they gave up a guy in shed long in a first round draft pick to do it. They paid a pretty hefty price for real quick before that you always years that Manny still looking for from the White Sox or others. Is that what the holdup is right now is is it total comp. What is it? I think it's years. I think it's money. I think it's everything I think he looks in the mirror and says I play shortstop at a great level. I play third base at an elite. Level. I'm twenty six years old. I will hitting thirty five home runs a season. I'll have a nine hundred zero PS, and the fact that I can't get what Alex Rodriguez got twenty years ago. And I understand Alex Rodriguez was a better player, but revenues inflation adjusted have doubled since two thousand they've gone from five billion if you adjust for inflation in in two thousand ten point three billion dollars. Now, the fact that salaries haven't gone up even close to commensurate with that shows you that Manny Machado understandably wants more years than money than he's being offered at this point. Jeff, Jeff, thanks as always we'll talk soon. Okay. All right boy. Thank you. Jeff passan etch passing on Twitter. I like John Malkovich. Your pay him pay that man his money, man. He's worth that. You're on ESPN one thousand Cup.

"Center on ESPN radio all throughout the day. All right. There's something happening in the shadows of this show here that I need to tell people about because Chris Cody just sort of exclaim to himself as if he didn't hear it during something that you had read previous previously. Wait a minute. Drinking mountain dew mountain dew can dissolve a mouse. We are now saying that as a fact that's not an opinion. Scientists have said it's a fact like fact, well, what why are we putting it in the news? If it's an end, finally, it's a fact, I am telling you, okay you. It's a fact I'll look it up for you. I'll get some context. Finally, I expect my and finally to be factual like, that's I I assume that what you're telling me there is so so who according to whom and this is a media problem throughout this country right now that you guys think that facts are just because somebody put it in a sentence on the internet. I don't mean to lecture yet. But just like with with STAN Van Gundy yesterday, we were arguing about what's fact, and what's not fact, and he says going thirteen for fifteen is a factor. We're like no Baker Mayfield. Having the goods is a fact. I'm just trying to cover us legally. Just in case. This isn't actually a factory someone said this. But here's the thing. I'm very worried about Tim Kirk. Oh my God. This is the thing. This is this is exactly what I'm talking about. Because of this. And this is not cool. And I don't know what to do about it. Okay. This is the issue. We got around here. Alison is just too nice and too thoughtful. And she comes up with too many, great ideas, we have a curse around this show. You know of this curse? It's what happens to got. I'm watching a video they're doing the experiment there dissolving a mouse with mountain dew out YouTube, six point five million views that credible enough and the mouse completely disappeared. Was it heated mountain dew or did? He just can't even watch it. I mean, just mountain dew mouses dot com. Go check it out. Mouses dot com. Tom. Thank you. Chris. Oh my God. Chris. How can I work under these conditions seriously? I want you to think was more mouses. So. Doc interested in making this to God's jokes that I can't move. So let me get to this damn story because it would appear and this is going to be a problem with human resources. We're trying to kill Tim Curcio. This is where we are with this. He's one of the sweetest men I've ever met across the universe. We love him around here. There is next to nobody who doesn't like Tim Kirch in. Although I was about to say there is someone at ESPN that oath me, an Tim Kirch have a problem with and I would just love to bury that person right now berry that person, but it would infuriate Tim Kirch in. If I did that because there's one person at ESPN who got really..

"So let me get to this damn story because it would appear and this is going to be a problem with human resources that we're trying to kill Tim coaching. This is where we are with this. He's one of the sweetest men I've ever met across the universe. We love him around here. There is next. The nobody who doesn't like Tim Kirch in. Although I was about to say there is someone at ESPN that both me an Tim Kirch and have a problem with and I would just love to bury that person right now berry that person, but it would infuriate Tim Kirk. If I did that because there's one person he has PIN who got really. That that. That is the correct use of that. But that that. Yeah. I was going to. Very. Amaze? Favorite ice cream brand and flavor that by the way, hold on a second. Forgive me. If you're just joining us that is the magic creative content whenever it begins to play everything has to stop on the show. It's totally coincidental. That it happens almost every time. I'm talking about something shouldn't be talking. It's weird. How coincidental that crazy? What is your favorite ice cream flavor? And why do you guys have any controversial ice cream? Opinions. I like froyo better than ice cream. What? What? Yeah. Whoa. Pro you better than ice cream? Ben and Jerry's best brand. That's crazy. Billy, by the way nuts. No. No. No. No. You go to froyo bar. These things have you been afraid. Of course, you've been afraid of ours. You guys go to froyo bars. You can get the Cup, right? And they basically charge you based on the weight of this, you know, object. So you get the Cup which by the way how much is that Cup way. Because I feel like if I just put the empty Cup on the thing. They're charge me fifty seven cents or something because they're doing it just by way. What's what's your strategy with this? I go like two pieces of everything. What do you mean? Like, you know, two pieces of reece's pieces to pieces of Snickers like I'll just put a little bit of everything you ever mixed fro you all get. Yeah. Yeah. I go opposites. I'll go something sweet. And something tart, and then I'll put in like cookie dough, which is bad for you. I guess if it's unclear but these places so you cookie dough, but you can get sick. If you don't cook hokey, it's. Did you really just ruined cookie? Dough by just giving me the I m d be of things that can happen to you. If you cook you lead it interesting. Played by fear. Billy of everything that's good. Like cookie? Dough is amazing. And you're about to give me a long resume of reasons that I shouldn't eat cookie dough the most thing I don't think twice a while. True. Is that by the way, why are you afraid of everything of everything cookie? Dough you try you think you're going to get a blood clot in your leg. Get blood clots. I mean thinking you think about what I do is. I get something. Sweet tart Tangy put the cookie dough in there. Sometimes if I'm feeling crazy. I'll put gummy bears the problem with gummy bears is if exactly you put it in ice cream. They get hard and they freeze. Turn on your mind. What you do you mix? It all of hot fudge also. And then I mix it all up, and it's like a party of flavors in my mouth. I don't know. What's what it ends up looking like really dark Brown and just like shoveling poop in my mouth. But it's delicious I used to do that with my ice cream when I was little it stirred up and turned into soup. Now. That's not like anything..
