Warriors top Mavs

"The Mavericks welcome back to Luka Dončić, but fell under 500 with a one 27 one 25 loss to the warriors. Dončić had 30 points and 17 assists after missing 5 straight games with a left thigh strain. Steph Curry delivered 20 points and assisted on draymond green's tiebreaking three point play late in the game. Jonathan comeing scored 22 points on 9 of 11 shooting off the bench for Golden State. For a great team to win, needs him out for he needs to move the ball. Everybody gotta have to fill the ball. And that's pretty much what we came out there and do. And that's what got us this win. Dallas played with that Kyrie Irving and fellow guard Tim Hardaway junior. I'm Dave ferry

Irving scores 24 in Dallas debut, leads Mavs over Clippers

"In his first game with his new team Kyrie Irving scored 24 points to help lead the Mavericks past the clippers one ten to one O four. I just felt good to get this debut out of the way. For the first time I ever got traded in the middle of the season. So it was new for me. But I'm excited that I'm here and I just keep things rolling now. Dallas shot 17 of 35 from three point land and led for the entire 48 minutes. Tim Hardaway junior added 19 points Norman Powell led the clips off the bench with 24, Mark Myers, Los Angeles

"And it's like, yo, who is reciting all of this for it to be out in the media. Then this comes again with trade this year. My one of my great concerns about a franchise would be, you have a franchise player. This is the face of your franchise. He's the one on all the billboards. He's the one everywhere. He's the one that sells all the jerseys. And you have this issue with him and the head coach. Again, you have the opportunity to stamp that out. So number one, you let it get to a point where they're both angry and next thing you know your star players not showing up and he's not on the bench. Okay, that's bad enough. At that point, you say, all right, people are going to ask about him not being here. All right, so what's our answer to that? And then Trey, when we're going to put you in front of a microphone. I mean, this is a $1 billion industry. And everybody's got full on PR teams. When we put you in front of a microphone, what are you gonna say? And basically, Trey young's explanation was, this shouldn't be public. I'm just here to win championships. But then, you know, hey, fine Trey and that reporter that was asking him the questions. He's sitting there saying, okay, Trey, well, it became public because you're the face of the franchise, and you're not on the bench supporting your team. At that point, regardless of the story, that's public. And he says, well, so why weren't you there? I was hurt. John Collins is in a boot. He was there. And then it's like, I don't want to answer any more questions. Let me get out of here, and it's like, hold on now. Where is the protection for this situation? Where is the damage control for this? Somebody from the hawks wanted that out. And Sam amick was on with Raja bell and Logan Murdoch and said that if you, this is the most it's earning. If you pull the hawks, he said he thought the players would if you have split them up, they would side with McMillan. That's the problem. If that so if that's true and the players would side with macmillan in this situation, then you've got a real problem on your hands. Look, this is a where there's smoke, there's fire situation. From what I've heard and learned, this is not a random one off oh there's like a miscommunicate there was major miscommunication like the chain of communication there is not great. But there's something going on there and look, so it was not a lot of complaining about Trey young when they were in the Conference Finals two seasons ago. When they beat the sixers in 7 games and then took two games from the bucks now Giannis was heard for part of that tray with her for part of that, whatever. I didn't hear a lot of like, oh, I would take Desmond bane over tray young. I would take so and sober Trae Young. But a Trae Young is not shooting the ball well. When he's not shooting the ball, well, that'll change. Everything is better when people make shots. Look at Dallas. The sky was falling in Dallas a week ago, Tim Hardaway started making shots another two games over 500 everything's fine again. I mean, we'll see. But the point is he'll make shots. I just don't, I think that that bracket broke pretty perfectly for them, starting with the Knicks who had no way to hunt Trae Young on defense, nor did the sixers really, and then the sixers obviously went through an internal meltdown, the ripple effects of which they are still feeling today in that series.

"16 teams that are better than the Mavs in my opinion, if the season started tomorrow, clippers, warriors, sons, grizzlies, nuggets, Timberwolves. Then I think the Mavs are in the same tier as the blazers and the pelicans. Wow. The blazers. I think the blazers could have a pretty good, they have a pretty old they do. I really like a lot of the players on their team. I loved the GP two signing. Yeah, I think that Jeremy grant makes a lot of sense there. They still have Josh Hart. Nasir little is when healthy. He was pretty awesome for them. Anthony simons is like 7 years old and just going to be a star in my opinion. Just sign the $100 million contract. They re sign use of nurkic. I think they're thin, but look, honestly, when I look at the Mavs, it's like. Okay. You have Luca, terrific, Lucas. Sure, MVP candidate. I don't know if they're more talented than they were last year. I don't know if that's a statement that I would necessarily agree with. They lost Jalen Brunson who was their second best player. They did not replace Jalen Brunson and they are saying they're getting Tim Hardaway back from injury. Right, they're getting Tim Hardaway junior back who's 30 years old off of a serious foot injury. Spencer Dinwiddie for an entire regular season, I want to see if he can be healthy and he was very bad in Washington, he was pretty critical for them as the third ball handler. You see a secondary ball handler in a good team. I don't know. And then, look, Christian wood, a talent. I think the front court is a little messy to be honest with you. And I think the Christian would then could get ugly. There's potential for that. I think he's a really good talent. A lot of questions, defensively, a lot of questions about whether or not he's going to fit right into Jason Kidd and Sean Sweeney's defensive system, which is pretty demanding. Love Dorian Finney Smith. But yeah, I don't necessarily think this is losing Brunson's a big deal.

"What do you set his value at? Just in a vacuum. What would you pay Jalen Brown on the soft season? Remember, we just about dejante Mario makes $15 million. Would you pay jail? If that's the bar, right? If the jaunt Murray equals 15 million, then you're probably talking about, I mean, look, he's averaging 16 and 6, almost this season for Jalen Brunson. You're probably talking about somewhere in the ten to 12 million range. Yeah, so it's probably going to be more, right? Because that deal. Exactly. Ari saw that deal a couple years ago, took an under market deal. So it is what it is. So I would say 15 to 20, right? That's probably likely starting salary for Jalen brownson. Next year. So if you're the Mavericks, so 15 to 20, your first question is, do we want to pay them 15 to 20? If you do, 12 decisions easy, right? You don't trade them, you keep and you move about. If you start looking insane, man, start next year, Luca and Chris apps are $79 million combined on our payroll. Just for those two players, then we've got 19.6 where Tim Hardaway junior, 11 for Dwight Powell, ten for regi Bullock. All right, can we pay him 15 to 20 million? And are we ready to push that deep in a larger attacks? So all right, so let's take it a step further. And I go get them this summer. So only three teams with cap space. Detroit, Orlando, and San Antonio. Just talked about it. San Antonio has a million guards. They're out. They're not going to chase jaylen Brunson. The magic, same thing. They've got more guards than they know what to do with they're not going to go after Jalen Brunson. Maybe. Detroit, maybe, but his Detroit ready to say Jalen Brunson's the guy. We're going to drop 20 mil on a year to push things. So then it becomes kind and trade. And that's where it becomes, hey next, yo, what are we thinking here? And that's where it becomes right now. This season is, if you're gonna do.

"And at that time. I think more like one and a half threes a game in dallas. He's averaged about two and a half threes a game. So this is a guy who's capable of averaging at his best two and a half blocks two and a half threes. that's there aren't many guys who've been built like that in the history of this game even though becoming more common now miles. Turner does a little of both in surgery. Baca in his prime was doing both those like that's a really great combination. Have in a big man strikes defense at one end the rim-protector at the other so that alone could make him very valuable for them. But this is obviously pick and roll league and you've got to be able to guard away from the basket then you've got to be able to move. And so yeah. I mean if he's moving better and when the back thing works out like you know maybe we'll see more of that that balanced version of porzingas the glass half full thing here. Statistically him and i noted this a couple of times last season he averaged twenty points. Eight point nine rebounds and one point three blocks the only other guys in the league average twenty eight and at least a block. Last season were joel embiid. Who was an mvp candidate. Youngest who has mvp candidate crowd anthony towns. Who's karl anthony. Towns and christian would if you add in the two three pointers per game that list drops down to just porzingas. Karl anthony towns. There is a unique profile here and it may not be good enough to be the second star on a championship team. I don't know the the raw numbers suggests that there's a really valuable quantity there in some sort of package. And then i feel like the defense is is the rest of it but but she's a max player. That's the problem is. He's amax player list. you listed. he like he can be a christian would type player but christian would isn't making max money like that's that's inherently. The issue is with the expectations. That come with the max contract and then just like the actual captured if you're allocating that percentage of your cap to a player like that. Even though he can be highly useful. Highly impactful on both ends. If this defensive stuff sticks around and holds That's the issue and he'll probably still be overpaid and look. That's common in this league. There's a lot of guys who are paid more than their actual value. If you run the numbers whatever But it's why. I asked earlier if he's not there. Second star than who is because he's making second star money and it's hard to fit another max deal on there. He's probably not all easy to trade at this stage. Making thirty one point six million this season thirty three point eight next season and then he has a thirty six million dollar option in two thousand twenty three twenty four. I've always said there's no question my mind like on on the on the basic fundamentals of the trade. The mavericks won the trade. They got not just the best player they got. Also tim hardaway junior. Whose core player for them so they got to really good players player. Yes exactly somebody with junior the best that argument. It's it's it's a fair argument. But they sent out. The jordan who barely played for the next did not play wes matthews. We've really played or did not play. Dennis smith junior washed out and two i which so far have proved to be..

"Got the non taxpayer mid level exception from Dallas and then they added Jaguar McLaughlin and Eugene oma Rui to their two way contracts, players lost. This one was even out even in. They lost Tyler bait and they'd Hinton, where they're two way players. They're both off to other teams. Nicolo mellie returned back home to Italy to play JJ Redick as we've talked about on the show is still a free agent. And he is sounding like he's going to stay will not be with Dallas. We know that. Nor will it be with New Orleans. He won't be with anybody. Yeah, won't be with anybody for a while. And then we'll see what JJ Reddick wants to do. And then Josh Richardson as we said was traded to the Celtics. And then they resigned Tim Hardaway junior got a four year contract. Out of the Mavs after he played really, really well in Dallas that's kind of almost become the Tim Hardaway junior trade. Instead of the Chris stop sports industry. And then bob on my yarno vich resigned as well. So the big man they've got a lot of bigs on this team, bob on porzingis, Powell, cleaver, Willie Kelly Stein, so a lot of big guys there in Dallas. And then they're big stuff that happened was in their front office and coaching staff. Niko Harrison comes in or places a die Nelson as the general manager. There, and then Jason Kidd formally from your team as an assistant comes in getting another shot at a head coaching job comes in as the head coach. Also brought another one of your former duds. He was my buddy first 'cause he was at BC. But yeah, mutual friend. Yeah, there we go. Mutual friend. And then Luka Dončić signed his his extension. Now, his is a little different than Trey young's because he is already met the qualifiers for the 30% max. So he will 100% be at whatever 30% of the salary cap is starting next year right now that projects to be 5 years, $207 million from Luca on that extension. So there we are with Dallas. I think the guys they brought in are better than the guys they lost, especially for what this team needs. And I think they got Hardaway, resigned to a nice contract. They could have gone the cap space route and got involved in a whole bunch of guys, but it looks like they read the market right on that and said, no, let's try to retain some guy. So not a lot of changes, but I think the ones they've made are good ones. I agree. I think they are good ones. And I think, you know, obviously being today being hawks and mad stay, I think this is the rare trade where looking back, both teams would do this trade again. I think the hawks are happy with the way things are turned out and I think the mountains are happy with the way things turn out. Obviously, Luca, getting that big contract extension, it's pretty pleased with that. But you're right, look, the Mavs they didn't do a ton this off season. I think we can argue. Is this team actually better? This season or not, I think the addition of Reggie Bullock, I mean, look at any time that you can add shooting around a star player like Luca..

"Is a signed contract. Tim hardaway junior. Who was shooting fireballs on the playoffs. Last year gets another big contract. And you could go up and down the list if you can shoot the ball you're going to get you're gonna get paid nowadays crazy about hardaway's i heard. The pelicans offered him almost ninety million for years and he ended up staying with dallas. So i mean the market for shooters with significant and for him to stay with dallas shows. You know these happy there and wants to play with luca. Four million he took it said a ninety. I think it was eighty. Eight million was the number that i heard. Oh wow yeah. So that's a big difference. You know dollars It but i guess it was saddam. What's different difference to eighty eight million seventy four million dollars in terms of quality of life. You also have low say taxes for the price of living insane especially now social media. I am aware of what things cost in all of these different cities around the around the country and every time i see something from texas. It's like like i said six hundred thousand dollars. "That's really good to have guys who know how to play with Luka. That's why they were contented move on from Josh Richardson, cuz you know that fit wasn't very good. They're so Moses Brown. Do they got in the Richardson trade? All right, let's see. You know, they've done some stuff with athletic bags, who can do that job. In the past Sterling Brown. All right, yo, don't hate isn't yo Ming with size. Just done some stuff shows. He can do a little bit the bullet trade, as we said, kind of like that or signing off like that one. Yeah, let's see how they structure. They might do it as a sign-and-trade. Bring him into the Josh Richardson, TP that they created the other day and then that would leave the mid-level for them to use. So if they do that that's you know that that's a little more spending power. Sounds like they still would like to maybe get involved in a point guard. This could maybe be a dentist router landing spot but it's like a lot of that depends on. Are they going to do some wage for Garen? Draw, get your not because they do go on dragash then then no, they're not ready to go. Spend any money on Dennis Schroder there and then they're resigning bulb and so of course they win free agents just for those a resounding bulb. Absolutely, absolutely. Tim Hardaway Jr. Contract he's a tough shot maker. I worry that if that shooting presented ships, a little bit, that becomes less of a value there. But look, I mean how well he played, you got home I'm back and I'm going to continue to call it Tim Hardaway. Jr. Traded is no longer in the kristaps porzingis, trade the Houston, Rockets, use the kids sell me on. If you can't hear, tell me about Daniel theis is, why is this the right move? Yeah, I love Daniel theis. I think he's great. He would have been a great Fan Tan, you know, about seven or eight other teams. I don't understand it too much with Houston you already have Christian would be best. Position is the five you drafted out, Prince and Schengen best positions. Probably going to be the five you know, the kid that's getting the the Euro catch comps for his offensive game. And then who spawned, garuba, who USA's playing against right now. Quick update, team USA's, a 56 to 47 with 6 minutes to go on 3rd October. So starting to figure it out a little bit here dead but gruba maybe best position might be as a small ball 5. So you aren't had another five. I don't get it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm thrilled for Daniel, theis, that he got paid. I think job. He's he's been good. This is going to get roped into, it's going to be weird this one. It may actually tied to the Lakers creating a trade exception because I think what is going to happen here is he says a victory Depot trade exception that they're highly unlikely to use. So it sounds like they're, they may bring Tyson to that one, which would allow the Bulls to create a new trade exception, which they would bring Carruthers. So into on a sign for trade for a second and we'll, we'll create a trade exception of, you know, roughly seven, eight million or so in the in that range. So, so look for that month, or two things that are going to happen here with the Lakers Caruso's. Going to be in a sign-and-trade with Houston and with Chicago, they'll create an pretty nice trade exception, but, you know, just a nice place so tool to have Russian building wise then I think the Westbrook trade gets roped into this Dinwiddie move cuz that'll be how those those a couple of those players will get rerouted to Brooklyn though, just dead. Reading some tealeaves thinking of the way, these things should come together..

"That that's a very, very unique situation and they have this cap space to Summer, they were the team talking about Ian as a Rudy gobert to come play next to Luke up, you know, stud Defender. Obviously honest is a two-time MVP in Rudy's not that offensive but they were looking to get that top, 15 top twenty player off worse and then they all extended. And so, now they're sitting there with, you know, good chunk of cap space, 25 million Jewish this summer, but do they want to let Tim Hardaway, Jr? Go just to sign a guy like Mike Conley, Georgia, Really know. So they're just in such a bind where their cap space is kind of fake because once you take into account, the players, they lose to use it. It's neutral at best and they've got to figure it out because we've seen time and time again with those second contracts. "Think the place the start here is the clippers are now down to go after another just disastrous night in la rob. Would you see from this one. And how bad is it for the clippers. I mean what i see is a complete lack of cohesive defense. This is a team that's supposed to have to a wings. That's supposed to have a lot of two way veterans employers and you can mix and match. You can have different looks. They somehow got stuck between not putting enough pressure on luca and also not staying home enough on the role players to take them out. They i mean you really have to thread the needle to do that when you have the personnel that they do. I don't know how they ended up in that place and it was tricky because in the first half they were able to read luca a little bit better than what we saw in game. One you know they were picking them off on the weak side a little bit and then everything just kind of got teased. Apart in a luca can pull apart those coverages. He can string you out. He can feel out when you're doubling and when you're not really well and i think most importantly all of these supplementary guys the tim hardaway jr junior's capeeze and the jalen brunson's they all stepped up and played basically pitch perfect games in terms of delivering in the spots. I didn't know little sort of position to be telling about the guy who put it all together. Relax. I mean, I could tell them, but I don't think you go look at the video. But hey, that doesn't stop. People start up with his middle name to see how that goes. Yeah. You look that one up to you. You have no idea what it is. It's gotta be moneybags, right? No, it should be. That would be mine. Marcus Thompson can be our insider from the athletic where he is a senior columnist. He joins us. Here on the Tolbert Kruger in Brooke's show the Wisemen move off the bench. That's I mean, that's that's a no brainer. I know people want to look at it as if it was punitive or if it was some Way somehow kind of Ah, statement on Wiseman and his early going in early development here as a pro, but but I mean, other than last night when it really worked for nobody has definitely been working these last couple of games. Yeah. You know, it was interesting. Just the sentiment that somehow like James Wiseman was gonna combust. Right. And like he's so fragile that being benched for having to deal with adversity is gonna break it like, dude, this is a rookie. He got to go through some stuff, and that includes getting this handle it properly right? That includes having earned your starting spot back right. It includes sitting fourth quarters like all that's part of the game. So in the process of his development, like it ain't just playing 32 minutes like sometimes it's Learning how to deal with this stuff, right? Learn how to watch the game. When you're not playing it. It, uh, picking up you know cues from a super vet like loony who For some reason, As long as he's on the court, they'd be pretty well. So, yeah, I think it's good. I think all of it is good. If you're a rookie to NBA, you're the bitch like you still in the rotation, a slowing, he still getting minutes. Like all of it is good. It all helps like step said. You know, he got benched for a C love like it just becomes part of how you overcome things and how you figure things out, and he's been off forward like that's the money that they got a little. He's like, Yeah. You know, it's better for me on the bench. I get to see the game like he's flipping the bright side out of everything. So you know what? We're 19 gazes lady gave me He's still okay. Get screamed at the best. Yeah, he good like I don't think he's just gradually. People think I think you'd be. I You know, Marcus? It's interesting. Somebody theorized yesterday that maybe because of the Corona virus, the Warriors are practicing less now, like all teams in the league of practicing less, But maybe that has an impact on the players that are the newest to the system. That being James Wiseman and Kelly you, bray, How much credence you put in that theory? No question they hardly. They hardly practice that. The problem to the Warriors, too, is everything is movement and feel, but he's just watching. You could see, uh, with Wiseman is definitely there's nowhere dear. It's thinks well, right, because you've got a He's got to think about it, and you could see it like he's just a hair late and then MBA. That's late. Like when, when a When a guard is driving if he felt like he'd do what was covering, like all that's getting whites, all that gets slapped off the backboard. But he's gotta He's gotta see the shots or block it and You know, you could tell he's reading and you could tell you even Wiggins. Sometimes you Bray, where somebody's gotta tell him Go through cut or here's where your screen or stuff is coming, and somebody's gotta say boobs. Like. None of that stuff is second nature of yet so then I get the practice, so they're kind of solvent in the game. So I do think it really impact the words because it's all movement reading, reacting on instinct. They probably have. Five or six options on just about everything and it requires you doing what the options are and being able to read which one to take. You know, you could see dream on, like one step coming out off the off the pick. You could see him kind of moving his head like trying to tell the screener is gonna be open. Slip it right. He's kind of having to direct the traffic because it's not second nature to them to say. Hey, this guy's leaning up. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go back. So it might take a while for them to get all that they just they don't have it. And then also, you know, this isn't this isn't exactly the The road Scholar is the team's right. Like so they probably couldn't love it more like a weight. Had that discussion about basketball like here a few minutes ago. You know what I said Marcus. I said, if you looked at him as an overall team You'd be like author real smart basketball team and then you go. Oh, that's cause dream on. Got a 200. Everybody else is like a 70 dream on dragging the whole team, But overall, it's It could be rough out there sometimes, right? Yeah. Gave you is the game situations of is like, Yo, I mean something. Like you got to know Now is not the time for 22 further right? Like they just don't like seconds on the shot clock. I know what they struggle with that. So Marcus is is your your your wife? Is she a big sports fan or not? Really. She must have worked My wife. My wife's not a sports fan, but Rodney with the other day, Tommy was not with us. We got into a discussion about that. Jamal Murray Tim Hardaway Jr. Such a situation where Where the video look bad. So I go into the house and just like, how's the show going, kid? You have right now we're talking about this. Situation. I go. Well, actually, you know you could judge this and so I showed the video of Jamal Murray grabbing. Basically Tim Hardaway Jr is groin. She kissed me This look like What was that? What was that about the leak. Find Marie $25,000, but I gotta hear your breakdown of this. I mean, is that is that what we thought we saw? Is that what we saw?.

Almost after the three point line and who was on defense was Murray. Andy on? Ah, no, Um Hardaway was on defense. So it was. It wasn't a tap. It was a graphic, and it was like a ward off and went on. Not erroneous. Warding off. No, no, You're mischaracterizing this assault on Tim Hardaway Jr and it was a full on assault. And give him Hardaway Jr credit. He didn't retaliate. Hey, didn't make a scene. He just he. Actually he took that punch. If you will, so credit to somebody way Junior is significantly tougher human being than I am. But listen, he's just, uh he didn't didn't didn't go down at all. So, obviously, that is that is some good parenting from part of a senior and just against him all the way, Junior a tough, rugged individual, But this needs to stop. Okay. I don't know why we as men think that It's cool to do that. But I got a way to fix that. And this is this comes from perspective that I have gained Larry recently. And becoming a father and how I mediate disputes between the two curly hit goons that live here with with me and Mrs Brooks. I believe in the sibling dispute resolution when you hit somebody in the soft tissue region. When one sibling hits another sibling. What do I do? Hit him back. You hit somebody below the belt below the equator. You get it. You get to hit him back. I guarantee you That'll put it in tow. All of the flagrant sacked happen. Let's play the MBA over the years. Here's an idea. Why don't you give me half the money? We're gonna bend. Then we'll go out there. I'll kick in the nuts and we'll call it a day. We gotta stop this Azaz. Is that from Vegas Vacation? That's when Hardaway you know when, when the punch The actual tap. That's when Hardaway was like, Oh, but he didn't go down and he didn't swing on Murray, which way he would have been well within his right to do No. Took it. Like a room. Seriously impressive. "Fellow Murray thank saying that he gave a number cut Marie once the coach's toe, look at it. They may call this a flagrant got bumped by Hardaway. No call and then reached him and did the grab. Which is a No. No game. A little bookie there. This could be a play of flagrant on tomorrow. If they deem that he went for the new keys to the middle ins, E mean, this could be an injection. I like that. The Netherlands. I like that Netherlands. The new G's, because the nookie is when you on somebody's head is right. You grab him around the neck and you start. Yeah, that was that was an incorrect description of the plane. He's lucky he didn't get knocked the blank out after that, because you shut it in Nuggets radio network on the call. So Yokich has the ball and he's looking for Jamal Murray to cut to the hoop. Now Tim Hardaway Jr is in his way, and Jamal Murray is is kind of crouched low and he gives a great big forearm shiver into the nether regions of Tim Hardaway Jr. Who sells the call by grabbing himself there and it is a flagrant two and Jamal Murray is thrown out of the game. I mean, That may be a flagrant two because he got both of them. T J is that from with, uh, like a border junior having a game after he left, so open up some minutes. Yeah, but boy that play, I'll tell you that is that is one of those indefensible plays like okay, I get sometimes where play gets physical and certain things. There's revenge for what you did before you, But, Dude, you just you just forearm shiver to guy right in the family jewels. I mean, that's that There's certain things I'm like. Okay, you know what Now, now, now we're gonna brawl now. Now there's gonna be something because you You took it and you went past the edge of the envelope, and now there's no coming back. No, I think before he got off the court, he's lucky didn't get clocked by somebody. I mean, that's just Cheap to a whole other level. You don't get away with that. No, come check. I mean, that's not hanging out with your on the playground with your buddies being idiots. Fight you. You're paid professional. And yes, you're going to get bumped. You may not like it. He got physical with you. Maybe he gave you a little bit of a cheap shot, right? A little bit of an elbow to the solar plexus. I don't know. But the fact is This is just it's dastardly. Yeah, but I don't think I I don't think this was adjudicated. Right? I think this this is instead of throwing them out. You do what you do in the school yard. No, You want me there? I get a free shot against you. And you let Tim Hardaway understands who shot two guys. Two guys, hold your mom. Hurry. He's gonna stand with a wide steps. All right, man, However you want You got one free shot going, What? You could hardly seem like everybody's got with the kick. Right. Ah, here, kick me here, Hardaway decides do on an uppercut. Joe. I want to kick him. Don't want to just punch. What do I do? That's the right way. I mean that. I mean, I'm not about violence. But, boy, that would be some kind of way said Whoa. We had a family jewels play. We're going to get reparations coming right now. Hang on a second. Oh, my goodness. Now we have it right at mid court. I mean, I think that would get everybody to tune in right away. Don't get right. Like what's that app that tells you when to tune into Ah, game. Right, like, Hey, the game. Is that like it's fever pitch right now you need to tune in. That would be suddenly well, I got to tune into the Nuggets game white. There's gonna be family Jewel reparations. See, I would have thought you would have been more likely to download the one that tells you when it's okay to go pee when you're watching a movie, But the the idea here, though, that you'd get reciprocal, reciprocated violence. You can't happen. They won't even let guys exchange jerseys. Security's getting in the way of that. You've seen video of that the last couple of days where guys that know each other, So Yeah, I'd like to give my jerseys like Nope. Can't do it. Send it in the mail or through another channel. "Nuggets that shot right there. One of the 63 pointers he made in this game. Jamal Murray was ejected after picking up a flagrant two, Frey shot to the groin of Tim Hardaway Jr So the ball was out. Although Murray did finished with 16 points, three rebounds to assist in 25 minutes of action. The Nuggets so struggled to score in the third. Dallas outscored the Nuggets 36 to 22. So heading the fourth quarter, Dallas had lied. It was 94 92 Mavs and to start the fourth. Man. The Nuggets bench was huge. Jamal Murray objective PJ Dozer out with an injury. "I'm not going to going there hard. Real e could tell the trainers that Pat knew that, but he knew what I need to do. And I need to go do it that hard. You know me and so in the A lot of guys didn't go that hard. You know, we just went through the motions and understood what we need to do and get ready for the games. But you know other guys, you know, you put that in their minds that they need to go hard all the time. All the time all the time. That's how you get him. And you know we went hard when we need to go hard. But when we did go hard when we didn't need to go hard, I didn't go hard. I knew what I could do. I just didn't like to run Sprint. You know if he was like, you know this this game sprint. I go in there and make sure my team don't run sprints, and that's it. Uh, right. Well, you know, it was funny, and I don't know if this was the case in in Miami or other places, but when we're gold state, we didn't have to run sprints because we used to scrimmage like for half an hour. We'd we'd run our place and we'd scrimmage and I always thought that was very instructive. You know Nellie would stop it occasionally, but basically, we just go out there and and run our sets. One team would have one set. One team would have, another said. When I went to Orlando. We never scrimmaged. We had controlled scrimmage where he'd call a play. You'd run it. You'd run down to the rent of the court and then stop and then you do it all over again. And I just thought that was the weirdest thing that coaches Didn't want to let their teams get out there because you get your conditioning. You get game simulation, and you could learn on the fly. And I just thought that was the oddest thing because that was really the first time you know, I played for Charlotte and Dick harder. We didn't scrimmage much there, but I always thought every team scrimmage lot during practice come to find out the words and Nellie were probably scrimmaged. I mean it scrimmage more than anybody else, But I'm guessing a lot of other teams just didn't scrimmage lot during practice because the coaches wanted to feel like they had control of the whole practice. Right, Right. Right. You know, we were like you said we play more. Five on five Got up and down, ran for five minutes or seven minutes here. Heart getting run hard. He'd get you out. And now he was a stickler about not running hard. Look, we're getting up and down. We're playing defense. We're going through our schemes. We run our offense and we and we run in and we doing it hard. Um what, Pat? You know, it was more control scrimmages like that, Um, I'm down in back that are down and back and back down, you know, two or three times and that was it. You know, he never like nobody to get hurt or anything like that. But we did most of our stuff. Real three on 32 on two fall before getting up and down the court. That's how we get our conditioning in and three man weave. That's how we get our conditioning here, so we got a lot of conditioning them. But when it was time to Tonto, five on five It was, uh up, back up, and that was it. And then you know, we'll switch it to defense and we go over this, but we was going over situations and stuff. So I mean, it was good that way, too. But, uh, you know, sometimes, you know, we didn't need that. Sometimes we'd like I said the playoffs. We don't need that. We needed rest. We needed fresh minds. Yeah, No, absolutely hate. Timmy has always It's great catching up with you. It's always fun sharing some stories. Can I say some one thing I know? Yeah. Going on it a long time. I just want to say one thing, man. I get tired of people. Some people in immediate talking about the Dallas Mavericks Need a third score. All right. They have a third score. His name is Tim Hardaway, Jr. Hey, will give him the ball. Give him the ball and run placing him get it out of Lucas hands. Everybody see that? He's a third score. All right, All right. I'm gonna tell you this Kevin Durant and carry urban. They looked at Joe Harris. He's the best three point shooter on that team, okay? When? When you look at McDermott on the Indiana Pacers. He's the best three point shooter on that team. Okay, we look at here. Here here. Oh, and Robinson Day, the best three point shooters on that team and Miami. And they get them The guys the body, pitch it to him up to pitch it to him, and they make they let them shoot threes and on that team with the Dallas Mavericks, Tim Hardaway Jr has the best three point shooting percentage on that team run plays for him, and they need to get him the ball and they need to let him go and shoot because he is the third school on that team. I'll get tired of people telling me or telling the world that they looking for third score. Began right there and they need to stop talking about and if they don't like it, they call me way pop up with your dad with you Give the man the ball. Here's the problem him. I have with that team, and I like that team, and I think they're a good team. They're almost getting to a situation. They're not quite there yet. Is Carla has a little bit of an offense, but they're almost get to a situation. Now what Houston was with Harden. Just giving the ball up top. Let him let him mess around with it. And everybody stand around and watch him and I get tired of people calling me and preaching to the choir, because yes, that's what it is. I tell people that all the time gotta run plays you got that's how they get in trouble. You gotta stop letting them man. Dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble. Triple triple the ball, all right. You got to get you got to get to shoot the ball. When a wide open. Not 34 counts when they when they are standing there when Chris Marlin was open Bam! Mitch Richmond was opened. Bam! Kari! Pekka was opened down. I come off pick Tom Tober was open. Bam! No wasted dribbles. No, nothing. That's what they gotta do. That's what my frustration is. And I'm tired of people calling me telling me that because they preaching to the choir, so Uh, you know, I can't say a lot. But I could say this Tim Hardaway at the thirst going that team they need to recognize that we had enough. No enough until her body I said hi to everybody. We said happy New Year to you. I don't know what the man you'll be safe. Same to you. I love that. Hold on a second. Let me get my check. One thing I want to mention here. Awesome. That was great. I'll take up from my seat. Let me take up for my boy. I love it. And by the way, he lying Uh, Tim Hardaway from behind the three point line this season. 42 change. That's a robust three point percentage and I saw the Mavericks play. I forget who was a couple of nights ago, and he's right, Luca down. Just a great player. Don't get me wrong, but I watched. That's a good 10 minutes. The last two minutes of that game, and Luca was great, but it was a lot of Luca just going one on one number saying to myself..
