"The nerve agent Because the some confusion as a say in the in the Press about whether fenton nova chocolate that those people were poisoned west but sally davies the time if you remember said my advice friend individual The who might come in contact with novacek washer close wiped on any personal items shoes and bags with cleansing baby wipes before disposing of them. In the usual way at my we made a lot of fun about this at the time but the question that ultimately ended it was this What is the actual. Uk government's narva for what was the narrative about chuck was never chocolate deadly nerve agent which lasts forever and kills at a glance or wasn't a low risk nerve at a low risk agent which could be washed away with everyday detergent and baby wipes and brad. I just wanted to put that back on screen again. Because that was quite a few years ago i and when not kind of narrative was being pushed out by the chief medical officer at the time. And i appreciate that. That's the previous chief medical officer not the current one but we've had the same type of inconsistency through the whole Covert crisis You know i've got to ask. When when is the british public learn their lessons. Well when when they concede the loiseau that in all the material coming out from the government. This is the beauty of the circumstances at the moment is we don't have to provide the evidence. The evidence of the lies and misinformation. The propaganda is simply being delivered by the government itself. It's beautiful situation okay. I'll accessible to defend defense issues and this is from usa us six naval task groups from u. s. u. k. India japan australia underway in the pacific. Is this more china and it looks very much like it. Might we have a full house. We have the whole quote of the western and western allied countries. That have agreed to encircle china. And we have a tim. Britain involves or no no disrespect meant to the queen elizabeth carrier group. I think brian will forgive me. This this remark. So let's see what's going on the us naval institute's outlet us news and numerous the carrier groups now of course the pacific is at jolie. Big ocean Let's bear that in mind but similtaneously currently operating in the region according to this report all the us navy's culbertson carrier strike group. Japan based american expeditionary strike group the royal navy's queen elizabeth carrier strike group. Which is the other nations escort vessels. Of course the australian defence force indo pacific endeavour twenty one ask group the japan maritime self defense force acid japanese navy indo pacific deployment 2021 force and the indian navy eastern fleet task group. So this is a closely attempts to guarantee ops freedom of navigation operations and us News reports Goes onto triple the british contingent. This will really keep the streets of taiwan in this the audience Channels open wanted and the weight on vengeance of the americans. The squadron integrated with the royal Royal ethel's is six one seven squadron. The dam busters. I will square spare you. The theme tune of that will moving butter there. We are again notable. No no slight meant to the gallant men and women a royal airforce but the dambusters doesn't quite do it. I don't think china that we that's britain's contribution so this is a conglomeration of the five powers naval agreement of nineteen sixty and the formed a couple of years ago ole ensuring. The chinese navy stays emden. Meanwhile if you're in queensland in eastern australia has sent us something which we don't think has been covered very widely although even british troops have been involved in this exercise off the queensland coast That's been a training exercise in bowen queensland. Just very recently this local paper reports that the viewer snapped is about the only source we have for it and they go on to report on the next page of the local newspaper covering it. That's the name of the excise was talisman. Saber and that they were brits involved. We don't know much. The article goes on to assure everyone that there's no copied contamination because the the nasty sailors and soldiers will will stay out to sea when when they're not required to storm the beaches. But we'd have a couple of snaps of what the us senate so any strategic air spotters and enthusiasts can inform to the significance of these being pumped on the apron on the gold coast Australia for the duration of the exercise. The view notifies us and there's one more short of that through the glass of the average rome view notifies us that while this was going on and the various Allied ships western ships and marines. Were out just off the queensland coast. There was quote a massive chinese. Walsh it further out to sea. We not aware if whether this was a bait exercise a saber rattling or some kind of coordinated. standoff against each other. Sir it's up to the chinese volunteered to be part of this Anglo-american australian exercise so at any reliable information will be welcome to clarify. What's going on there. It seems that's been a national level media silence on that operation and go back to europe defense news in the. Us is reporting that something. We've reported on the quite a while. The military mobility projects of the in us military initiative. Esco is now stuck because the netherlands. Which of course is the host country for a lot of these roading at the track vehicles easy onscreen via rotterdam to go up to the eastern front when required as the netherlands is is on point for the for the military mobility project of the eu. They're now having to Square an agreement between the member states of the eu who were the founder members of this initiative and now the to north american members of nato and no way none of the which is in the eu and one screen. As you tap the next button is most significant at the end of the article. Defense news reports again. The omnipresence of the defense industry becoming a trans Continental agglomerated this points in the background. So they report. This won't seems to be snagging. It is not just that nato countries are trying to jump onto an e you bandwagon To harmonize the scripts but more particularly that some member states this is of nato story of the eu esco have previously indicated discomfort with the idea of allowing a degree of us involvement. That could result in american defense industry. Heavyweights playing a dominant role. Later on For those who can't quite join the dots if the next afghanistan is russia or buffet country around russia. That's the next generation long war and that will be the next opportunity for a. Us led but in fact global reach defense industry to send more and more expensive kitten white elephants into europe. So that's why this is now transcending even the eu and becoming a nato white. Yeah i was just gonna say alex. Well it's interesting that the uk government has just released a new statement in support of ukraine's perhaps that's the next step. It could very well be it really could At this point many of those smartest analysts who cover both russian and chinese world saying that ukraine is even more of a tinderbox than taiwan at this point and so these things can be flicked at the drop of a hat. That's it could very. Well be staying on the military. The pentagon so the controllers also have an employer's law of all the us troops have all of it service branches have announced and his secretary of state level But he's been signed off the is now a vaccine mandate for covet nineteen vaccines but no set deadline at the moment. Of course only the fighter shot has been given. Fda approval more on that alone. Because there's a wangle involved there as well but as suggestions that the us secretary of state defense Could in the wording that he's in memo put pressure on president biden to allow those shots that do not even have the rule yet johnson and johnson and moderna which ocean being used in the us that these could be made mandatory for troops before getting fda approval. Now what does the military time say about this which is particularly interesting. What people can freeze the screen. We won't go through the stats but the us navy is the most jabbed service which goes down to the us. Army being the more recalcitrant service. It seems that fewer than half of overhaul fifty seven percents of the us army have partial coverage and forty percent only have full coverage whereas the navy is got three quarters of full-time fulltime personnel jabs. Without taking too much time Away from it since we have retired nadelmann with us. I wonder whether brian can give us an idea. As to what the fact is might be asked to why the us navy has got so much more compliance than the.

"You know, this is a guy who was a college shortstop didn't go didn't become a picture until his last year of college and really took a lot of didn't want to be a picture because he thought he could be a major league shortstop and be a guy who could hit at the major league level and kind of senses that this might be his last chance, his last year of being able to hit And is trying to take as much advantage about as possible and he's got his driven in more runs than he's earned runs that he's allowed this season, which is one of those steps that is cute in April, the kind of remarkable and it's still true in June. Tim is consistency has been overwhelming. One time he's been on the I l We just don't know what's going to happen next. But I look at innings pitched and then I look at 103 strikeouts and only eight walks. That just shows me how consistent he is in the strike zone. You keep saying about fastball fastball. I think his secondary pitches has got a lot better this year because he's throwing more of them. Yeah, You know the like. He goes to an order the first time he's become really fastball heavy. The first time he faces, guys and you know his fastball is good enough where he can get you know, you can know It's coming and still not be able to hit it. And then you've got that 94 mile an hour slider off of it. In case it may be the best slider in the sport. He throws a 92 mile an hour changeup that has sharp late break going the other way. And and he has such expert command of it, you know? Before I watched Jacob deGrom. I didn't see right handed pitchers throw changes inside left handed batters, which is just such a difficult thing for a picture to be able to do. Instagram does it with consistency and regularity. So you can say he he might have the best changeup in the sport. He's stone. I think one curve ball all season. His curveball is pretty good, too. Doesn't needed, you know, maybe maybe if he had to face teams the fourth time to the order, you break that out. The thing that's been different within this year. This is efficiency kind of inning to ending last year he averaged. He was 16.7 pitches per inning. Guys are felling. Awful lot of two strike pitch is against him. This year. He's averaging down to 13 pitches an inning, which is by far you know, I think the next best among qualified starters in the sport is 14.5. So he's got this huge margin there. So even though he's only, you know, hit I don't. I don't know that he's got over 100 pitches yet this season, but he's going, you know, hit to start before last night, It was seven innings 85 pitches. He's had quite a few like that. Even though he hasn't thrown maybe the folk of innings. Uh, the thought he might Because of some of these injury concerns. He is moving through them a lot quicker than he used to. Amazing season for Jacob Diagram Tim Britain, as well as great report to him to bring us up to date and the Mets, who lead the National League East by four games over the Phillies, five over the Braves. Marlins seven back and the Nationals are eight back as we start play today, But it is New York City, and there's always something going on in New York City, the back pages of the newspaper and everything else. And somehow or other, Peter Alonso got mixed up in it this week. What happened with him? Yes. So Alonso on Wednesday in Baltimore said on our zoom of press conference. You know, someone asked what he thought about the sticky stuff controversy among pitchers in the sport whether he thought it was a good idea for Major League Baseball to regulate The substances that pitchers used for grip purposes, Uh, more aggressively, the way the league had suggested it was going to and he said he did not like not like the idea of them doing that. In part because he finds the league more to blame because of the way they manipulated the baseball. You know, we've we've talked in years past about the ball seemingly to be being juiced, you know, flying out. There are more home runs than ever before. And then this year, the league explicitly said going into the year was going to try to to deaden the baseball little bit that it wouldn't fly quite the same way. And Alonzo I think the conspiracy part of it that he threw in was that he thought that was tied to Who were the big free agents going to be that year in 2019, he said. Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg going to be the big free agent, so we thought, well, they're reducing the baseball to make those guys step look worse. And in 2021 the big reasons or a lot of really good shortstop Carlos Correa. Trevor story, Corey Seager. So maybe there did you think the ball to make those guys that look worse? I don't know. Too many players who who believe that free agency aspect of this that that the league is doing it to suppress calories that way the league is probably the league has Has done some other things that that helps suppress salaries in terms of arbitration and the way teams go through that process, But I think he probably took it one step beyond where most players are, but it does suggest kind of the level of disconnect and distrust. Between a lot of players and the league and the owners at this stage, especially as they're going into labor negotiation at the end of this season. Boy Tim, It sure does parallel a lot of things. When you start thinking about how he's thinking about this and how he he looks at the free agency market and how the balls changing and things like that. But I see what the Mets did. They traded for lend door and then they cemented them in a very long contract. But he really hasn't started. Well. He's only hitting 2 13 only five home runs. Defense is still a key for him. He's still making his solid defensive plays. Why do you think he is not hitting the ball? Soma? Well, it's a good thing. We're having this conversation to now and not two weeks ago when he the average was below 200. He really looked lost at the plate for a long stretch of of bay. Uh, You know, I think he's just kind of felt a little disconnected at the plate like he said that his legs have not been in rhythm with his swing that it's just been a little bit off. Luis Rojo estimates manager has said he looked pull pull happy at times like he's trying to do too much to pull the ball. You know, the the last couple of weeks. Lindores look much more comfortable, and you know, even though it's not like he's hitting 600 over those two weeks, he's had a weeklong treachery hit about 400, which was really nice for him to break out of that slump. And, you know, he joked, like, maybe I won't get food at Citi Field anymore because he had been the first couple months, which is like a a mess tradition anytime you bring in A big new name, and they don't hit the ground running to get the booze pretty quickly. Um Even his outs have looked much more, much more comfortable, much better..

"We've got double header Action here today. First game, Kevin Gausman. And Eric Fetty second game Washington has announced. Joe Ross, the Berkeley native and a brother of Jason Rice, will go for them. And we do not know yet what Gabe Kapler's got up his sleeve for the second game, but a pleasure to bring in Tim Britain. Tim works, of course for the athletic, he covers the Mets Back east. He's covered the Red Sox for the Providence Journal. So that was a good stepping stone to get ready for New York City. And the New York Mets are in first place in the East, and they've got a four game lead over the Phillies. Tim Good morning. How are you? Pretty good, Marty, How are you doing? Well, we're doing well. Good game last night. You know this Washington team. Maybe we'll start with that. Just for a second. They are not hitting and it's Soto and Trey Turner. And everyone else is really A struggle there, and Scherzer went out after a third of an inning with the groin injury last night and Giants win it one Nothing and continue the march here. Yeah, you know Washington. It's been a team for the last couple of years, really? Since Since the World Series, But they were like so much on the star Pretend the stars in the middle of their order reminds me a little bit of the Tigers teams that we see. Make sure Czar on when the rotation was so good. And Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder in the middle of the order. Not a whole lot else, and that's kind of where they are with Turner and Soto. And when the guys in your rotation Strasbourg and Corbyn haven't haven't pitched well or much this season, uh That that's when you end up toward the bottom of the at least the way they have So far. They've got a very interesting next six weeks. I think to determine what to do moving forward if things don't improve for them. Mhm. Good morning, Tim. Bill Lasky is joining Marty and you this morning, you know, staying with the Washington nationals. They picked up Bell. They picked up Schwarber. Really? Both guys have been struggling so far with Washington. What do you see? In both these new free agents they picked up You know, Bell is a guy who had such a good first half of the season back in 2019 seemed like he was breaking out. This is a guy who was a top prospect for Pittsburgh. But it hasn't been able to be consistently that guy since And Schwarber. You know you remember him, of course from the 2015 post season. 2016 comes back from the injury in the postseason and was so good for the Cubs in the playoffs. But again just You know, is a guy who's kind of all or nothing at the plate gets on base hit some big home runs but doesn't hit for a high average that you know I can't go through slumps, so they just don't have that kind of consistent presence in their lineup beyond Turner and Soto. You know, it's tough, you loose Bryce Harper and Rendon in back to back years, your offense is going to suffer, and that's been the case there. Tim Britain with us Tim before we get into Jacob deGrom and the amazing things that he has done this year, and of course, the injury last night. What about the Mets? How about them? Mets four game leave here. Yeah, You know, it's a big lead as they've had all season at this point, and you know, you look at what they've been able to do to the 1st 3rd of their season. They still haven't played as many games as the rest of the rest of the league because they've had so many postponements early in the season. If they've managed a ton of injuries. At one point, they were missing seven of their opening day. Nine starters, Uh and and they've been able to get through it with some, uh, some contributions from unexpected sources. You know, guy like Billy McKinney, who they picked up Off of waivers has no peaceful breath for them and a ton of extra base hits, so they kind of managed their way through it. Some of those injuries have gotten the timelines ago, the Carlos Carrasco and Noah Syndergaard which you know the best play a bunch of games coming up. Friday was the start of a 33 game in 31 Day stretch for them in the All Star break, because they've got three doubleheaders in seven days coming up next week, so we'll see how they manage. Those that stretch especially with a starting location. That is, uh, leaking oil a little bit in the sense that, uh, you know, you're you're not going to get Crisco or Syndergaard back to Graham. Now you have some health concerns. David Peterson hasn't pitched very well for them, so they've gotten really good. Deportation has been really good, but there are some kinds of concern going forward. Tim, A fan favorite out here when he was with the Giants was Kevin Polar. Of course, you got hit in the face and he comes back and plays and one of the things I saw. He came up with the bat with the same bat he had, and there was still blood dried blood on the bat when he came back to play and They were showing that at one time he has definitely been a presence in that metsclubhouse. Tell us so what you think about him and how fast he came back to play. Yeah, Funny. I haven't gotten the chance to ask about using the same bat after that really gruesome incident in Atlanta. Uh, one of those guys and actually, I'll be honest. I didn't know this about him throughout his career. Just So that he had. But after the message side of an early in the season, I talked to Andrew Bag early, who covers the Giants to the athletic, he said. Oh, you know, Pilar was beloved in the Giants clubhouse while he was there. Guy who earned the respect of his teammates right away because, you know, he's a guy who is always able to post is there all the time plays almost every day when you when you need him to, And you know, the Mets have gotten a lot of production. It's not necessarily that those guys are playing like all stars as villains, but it just hasn't been a ton of drop off. You know, and their outfield they've lost. Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto for long stretches of time. Now, over a month. They've lost Jeff McNeil and JD Davis on the infield for over a month, and the guys that had fill in Kevin Pillar Jonathan VR Jose Peraza. Uh, you know, Mason Williams is playing center field for them. Those guys have been able to hold down the fort. Give them kind of major league respective, respective performances in the lineup, so they've been able to Maintain that lead in the division. Well, I'll tell you one thing. A good friend, Mark Simon. You know him who covers the Mets? Uh, you know, loves the Mets and of course, the sports info solutions is I'm sure very nervous this morning about Jacob deGrom, his favorite pitcher, the ground, of course, an amazing game last night but came out with the flexor tendonitis. He's done things Tim that Juan marry Shell couldn't do or at least equal marriage show back in the in the mid sixties. So what's up with the Graham and just talk about this season? This guy has had with the bat. I mean, he's driving runs in. He's in 400. He's Bob Gibson reincarnate it. Yeah. Remarkable to watch, you know, really. I started covering them at in 2018, which is the year that diagram kind of made this leap from being a very good picture and an all star pitcher in the National League to the best picture in the sport, and even since then, the way that he's Of all. He's gotten. He's going harder now than ever before, really than any starter has ever thrown the number of pitches. He's throwing over 100 miles an hour with his fastball, and it's been fun to see how he's kind of Tinkered with the other parts of his game. Whether it's becoming an even better fielder, beginning better at holding runners at first base, because that was an issue for him a little bit the last few years and, of course, becoming a better hitter..

Jeff McNeil Kevin Gausman Mark Simon Bryce Harper David Peterson Eric Fetty Michael Conforto Trey Turner Kevin Polar Joe Ross Jason Rice Andrew Bag Carlos Carrasco Brandon Nimmo Gabe Kapler Bill Lasky JD Davis Miguel Cabrera Mason Williams Noah Syndergaard

"Like it. Do Marty and I tell you what going back to talk man to Grand Slam against the Rangers. They were down in that game. And sure enough, he hits a line, drive out the excitement that he shows you from the catch in left field, pounding his glove to hitting a grand slam going around first base, just bra like, you know, and he was having fun, and that's what this team is doing. Uh, You hear so much about Lamont Way Junior in the clubhouse how he fits in a lot of reports to say when he first came up, he individually went around and introduced himself to every member in the clubhouse, and that's what makes that clubhouse gel. That's why when you say all these names There's the next guy up and you hear that all the time with this team, so many people on the I l and that's going to be our question today. What's going to happen when these players come off the aisle? Who's going to go back to Sacramento when you have so many good players playing defense, as you say, and some on offense? Yeah. Yes, It's supposed to be back today. Sally as well. I imagine that's an easy one for Trump. But what do you do with your Stransky coming back? Unless there's another D l in there somewhere that we don't know about. No one manipulates the roster better than Farhan. I'll tell you that, uh, whether it's a 10 days back to Sacramento or the I l Whatever it is, But yeah, you're right. That's a good point today. Ostrowski is supposed to be back today. Yeah, I'd like to talk when Grand Slam they bill. They do something every week. Whether it's they could go three for 20. But that one hit or the two catches win games, and that's the thing for me, and that's what's been carrying him because he, you know belt is just coming back. You know, Crawford is having a career year. Posey, the big home run, the Longoria's out. Cueto's still struggling, so it's the secondary guys have come through. With winning moments, and I think that's been the big part. So good, Good. Good Start to today. Kevin got husband today the ace of the Giants going against a depleted hitting team of Washington. They are And Eric Fetty is coming off the covid list. He's been out for three weeks. He's a right hander who will be going against Gossman and Bill and I'll break that down for you as we go through the show. All right, Coming up. Nexus Tim Britain. He covers the New York Mets. The Mets are a story back East and, of course, the ground, especially for the athletic and we'll talk some Mets baseball with Tim Britain right after this can be our 6 81 Oh 45, these sports leader talking baseball with.

"As we've got a long weekend, the baseball ahead of us in a special long Saturday here as we get ready for a doubleheader between the Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants, But last night, boy what a game last night the Giants win it one nothing over the nationals. There was a number number 11 home run for Buster Posey. And he just crushed it and they couldn't bring it back. And that was the one run that Anthony DeSclafani needed. And he got it as he threw his second shutout of the year to run his record to six and two with a 39 earned run average. And the Giants win the game one to nothing. A complete game shutout for Anthony the Sclafani last night and he was masterful. Last night. The Giants run their record now. The 39 23 that 62 games down and you know I love this number this time of year. I wait for 62 down 100 to go. If you play 50 50 ball, uh, the rest of the way. That's 89. If you win 55 of the next 100, which is certainly possible play 5 50 ball for the Giants. They're playing over 600 ball now. That's 94 wind. So good things are ahead for the Giants along road ahead. But believe me, this team has has done the job for their 1st 62 games and they've gotten it done. Last night. It was Mike talk man once again, going over the wall to bring a Juan Soto home run back to save the Sclafani late in the game and Lamont way. Junior had a nice playing the outfield as well. The Giants have won 11 of 15. They've won 12 of 14 on the road. These are very impressive numbers. They've hit 62 homers on the road in 35 games, which is the best in baseball. And they're 21 14 on the road. Standing wise. Giants 39 23. The Dodgers just crushed Texas last night. Kershaw beat Fulton Avis the Dodgers five homers last night, including pool halls, Kershaw got the win. 12 1 over Texas the Dodgers. Now we're in second place with a two game lead over San Diego Dodgers are game and a half back of the Giants and San Diego lost last night to the Mets. We're going to have Tim Britain with us. From the athletic who covers the Mets and talk about that game last night and the potential injury to Jake up the Graham that good news for the Mets, but the Mets are starting to play better ball. They beat San Diego last night and Blake Snell 3 to 2, so they are 3.5 back. But the interesting thing is Milwaukee and the Cubs win games yesterday. And they are now tied for the lead in the National League Central And San Diego is now tied with Milwaukee and the Cubs for the third wild card spot. So it looked like the West was just going to take charge of it, but the San Diego has struggled. And they are now in a tie with the loser of Milwaukee and the Cubs for that second for the wild card spot, so that that's going to be interesting to see what happens there in that second wild card as this season unfolds. But it was a good game for the Giants last night and I was going to say as we talk about this game today, we've got Kevin Gausman and Eric Fetty in this first game and Bill Carey and I'll be with you in between games and Joe Ross for Washington in the second game. We don't know who's going to pitch for the Giants. Yet in the second game, But Washington doesn't hit much. Mark Zuckerman is going to be with us from mass in mid Atlantic Sports Network later in the show, and we saw it firsthand last night. If you stop trade Turner, you stop one. Soto. You've got a good chance of stopping the nationals, so the Giants could have a good weekend here. And then it's four games. Yes. Four games at home with the Arizona Diamondbacks. They lost last night to the Los Angeles Angels, Arizona five and 31 in their last 36 games, and they're coming in for four. With the Giants starting on Monday night. So these games today it's a doubleheader day, seven inning games. And then of course, we've got the game tomorrow. Johnny Cueto will be on the hill tomorrow against Jon Lester. The way it's set up. And then it's for with Arizona than the Phillies come in. So this is a good time of year for the Giants are playing good ball. They're catching the ball and they're hitting home runs. And Posey, as I said, number 11 on the season last night. That's all the square funny needed to win the game one to nothing over the Washington Nationals, weather wise. Hopefully everything will be good today. Giants starting pitching now, with a 3 11 earned run average. That's the story of this season for me. Dodgers at 304 and the Mets, of course with the Graham last night, another amazing game. No walks. 10 strikeouts, a hit in six innings, but he's got that flex er injury that tendonitis in the Flex er. And he had to leave the game after six last night. So that's something to watch. Certainly for the New York Mets. Alright, Bill Lasky. Good morning. Quite a game last night, And here we go. Double header Day today. Good morning to you, Marty, as well as dollar morning listeners. What a great game. Of course. You know, I love watching good pitching and For disco finally put a show on yesterday. He was just magnificent. The 1st 13 hitters first pitch strikes and you know how I love first pitch strikes. He ended up with 21 out of 29 hitters, and that just shows me that he's coming back. You know, after that 10 earned run game against the Dodgers, he frail the little bit next couple starts but boy yesterday With the two days extra rest. I think he had more life on the fastball. The two seamer started moving again and the slider was tight. He was hitting outside corner against right. He's left and right, but just their magnificent game. By him and for him to go out in the 8th and 9th inning in the eighth inning only through nine pitches, so he was good. And, of course, any time you get a shutout, there's great defense behind him, and you talked about talk, man. You know, we talk about way Junior making a catch and right center Solano first out in the ninth, and then, uh, I should save Osler. That's Alana with that backhand up the middle. Those are all tight plays and those are all good plays when you're trying to throw shut out, especially when you don't have one run to work with. Yeah, tough competitor, the school fun and you could just see it in his face, and he I talked to Greg Pop after the game. I heard a little bit of the postgame said that when he was hitting, you got a little bit of a jab in the wrist area and didn't really completely at bat tried to bunt and it was a third strike. But this is a tough guy, Bill. You know, you just look in the eyes and sitting in the dugout on the mound, and you could just almost read the eyes that this is a guy who wants the ball who doesn't want to come out of the game? He's given the Giants quite a bit. I want to say something about talk, man, uh and weighed and vossler and I'm glad you brought vascular up a tremendous play by a tremendous play Third base coming in on that ground ball, and you're right, Solano. Stayed with a very tough wall up the middle. Good defense. You know, when you look at talk, man, you look at Vossler. You look at wave and you know, I sort of come the bomb squad, so to speak, you know, in all week long honestly, they could be, you know, two for 22. But somehow during the week they will do something in some game to win a game. And that's amazing to me. I mean, talk man can't really do much at the bath. You know, he touched deep deep counts. But he goes over the fence twice. Uh, for game winning catch is vastly hits the home run against Arizona. It's a home run last week makes a great defensive play. So even though the numbers aren't there for them on the season, you know, hitting under 200. They do something every week. They do something to win a game..

"Little build with technical issue this morning, So apologize about that. We think we're shipshape moving forward here and apologize to Ray. We went Teo, You want to chime back? You're more than welcome. 877337 66 66. Let's head up, Tio. My neck of the woods, Stamford, Connecticut. Beautiful Stanford. It's been It's the fan. What's going on, Ben? Hey, guys, How you doing? Great show. So obviously frustrated with last night's performance for 15 with runners in scoring position, you know we're dead last with runners in scoring position. But you guys talk about you know how bad the Mets are. We actually are the best in baseball. We have the best batting average per team are best on base percentage. Um, we have the number one hits per game. But this been there. The O P s. I got this from Tim Britain this morning. This is the best o PS in Metz franchise history. They say it runs in. Yes from bank. They're changing the approach approach. When runners are in scoring position, it is why they're tight. I mean, that's the other way to put it. I mean, when they feel the pressure that They understand They're not hitting with runners in scoring position. One point of time they're hit 1 72 rollers talks about being You know, maybe you're a little extra jumpy. You're looking to try and do something a little bit more. You realize the team struggles, whatever it might be. It's all it's all based on individuals as well. I mean, not not every single individuals, every single batter has the exact same approach. So Yeah, it's it's really overtaken the team, so yeah, you could terms of, you know, I don't know. I think I think they're tight. I don't know if it's me. You wanted to find his mental toughness or you want to define it as something that's kind of It's overtaken the team. It's been a story in the 1st 28 games or last six. They can't hit with runners in scoring position, but there, but they're a good hitting team. That's that's what I know. That's what makes it so frustrating. But how many rooms do you have your 12 and 16 team? That's what the Mets are. You could look at the stats and say, Okay, well, great to get guys on base. It doesn't mean anything if you don't score runs Sure over 12 16 right. We've had seven games where the difference has been either one or two run right? If we could have had if we hit that just an average level with runners in scoring position, we probably being 18 and nine right now. Listen, we could say the same thing about about you know if Edward Diaz had given up 15 home runs in the ninth innings last year, could say the same things if they had just sort some some runs for the Graham and his, you know, first Cy Young season. There's always those things bends we can point to, and I think the frustration is that the at bats are actually good, except when the runners in scoring position and all of a sudden Approach changes swinging at everything. And you know you have two rookie pitchers shut you out last night, you know, and to work E pictures. Excuse me started both games. Shut you out in the first one hour rain delay. The guy comes back in How How often does that ever happen in Major league baseball These days? We get an hour rain delay and the team actually throws the starting pitcher back in there. Doesn't happen. Appreciate your call that gotta talk about Seth Luego, but first Ray in water Berries back. Hey, Ray, how are you? Hi, guys. Thanks for give me another shot. Now that's really impatient. Starting from the announcement that the ground wasn't pitching one of those double header games plus Ah, not pitching against the Yankees. I mean, it took the air out of the honor their sales, you know, just Got off to a bad start. And then you're letting Sanchez back when you have backup catchers. You know, you got two extra backup catchers with the expanded roster for the doubleheader. He's up with the bases loaded. You gotta strike even and shit early when you're not scoring runs, you know, And then he let Luke go. You pull the master after three innings given another inning. You know he's failing along, you know. That's not really stretching them out. You know? Well, they only had him they only wanted to use him for three innings. That's really what should have been the minds that they didn't want tohave him go up down up down more than three times when that is not part of his repertoire of what he's been used to doing as a reliever. So instead of what the Mets should have really done Instead of guesstimating that it would take 52 55 pitches to go through three innings. What they should have done is basically said we have luego for three innings. They set the expectations for people when they said 50 to 60. So then he gets pulled with that 39 the guys cruising. You're wondering Well, what's going on here? Turns out that was never gonna happen. You know? Luego said afterwards that he was fine with it. He understood it. And you could almost tell most of the post game that RoHaas He seemed almost anguished by it like, even if he knew he obviously understands what he had in Luego and how he was going in that, you know, Luego most likely could very easily handled another inning of work easily could've handled another inning. But This was pre determined and it goes to the heart of the matter of whether or not this is the best role for luego. If he's going to be on such tight restrictions, and we don't know the next start feel if the leash will be longer. But it was a curious decision this late in the season. Teo say that he's going to go with starting rotation is a desperate decision. We know that I mean they were desperate. They had nowhere else to turn. So that's why they decided to finally give in to Lugo's requested finally go back into the starting rotation. Now, the question is, how do you? How do you judge the innings? Where do you think you're going to get the best use, even though Luego wants to be there? And you don't have a lot of other viable options to be in that starting rotation. Where do you view? Lugo's innings is being more valuable? Manning the Magi the three innings that he got last night or luego being available, You know, three games or three games over a course of Ah, six or seven game period where maybe you can use him six innings during the course of those three games. I mean, that's something where the Mets obviously felt like they were going to be. They needed him. Maurin that starting rotation, you're right. The curious nature and reeking of desperation is to do it at this stage when they could have done it earlier, when they could have maybe given into his request on the course of the offseason, instead of signing both Porcello Wacha and mates that luego a starter and then maybe added another bullpen arm or two outside of Della Betances. In the off season to try and strengthen that weakness and make great use of what I believe is the second best pitcher on that met team in luego and putting him into the rotation so that I don't know what's he going to be available next time you want to say Okay, Well, he's available for four innings or 70 pitches or 65. Whatever. I mean, what are we going to get from Seth? Luego. Next go around, But, yeah. It was, Yeah, That's where the Mets get themselves into trouble instead, guesstimating the amount of pitches that Lugo's gonna need to get through three innings..

"Great show as usual. You're Mina law. You're both correct on the Mets. You know, I'm not giving up totally because there's a you know, it seems that make the playoffs and if they can come up with some wins against the Marlins original. What The worst. Yeah, You're right. You're right. The worst thing was the tag attempt by Rommel's, But you know what? I go back a little further than that. That night. You're the manager. You cannot let what Walker locket. Stay in that long against the middle of the order after after a leadoff double. You gotta pull him while you're a head Net game. I mean a manager's leaving his starters into long when they when they don't have the credibility. And then what is he doing? Using Luego, you know, and a mop up roll because he needs the work If you're going to start doing that, then put him in the rotation. Yeah, You know, it's funny about that. Ray. And I appreciate your call in the passion and right there with you, but from what they were saying on the broadcast. It was that luego went maybe went Tio RoHaas and said, I need more work like I can't just You know, this is not working for me. I know that I have to be monitored. But I need more work than what I was getting Which boost was like what? Four days off in between Start in between appearances. Pardon me things like that. Listen, I tell you guys about how much I appreciate the writers at the athletic and Tim Britain is is no exception. Who covers the Mets? And he made a really good point about how maybe Walter locket is someone who's paired with an opener because you have someone like Schriever Drew Smith when he was here, and maybe there's somebody who faces like the beginning in the top of the order. So then a Walter locket coming can come in for the second inning. And maybe you get a little bit like he's more of a book, you know, like, in between long relief kind of guy as opposed to someone who starts the game, and you noticed it because your RoHaas left him into face. You know that top of the order and they end up getting smoked forward, and they obviously, you know, never regain the lead. So I mean, you know, we saw Kano tied it up, but ultimately that's something to keep an eye on it. I think something that was really one of the smartest things I read over the weekend. Okay. You know, I thought the call was going to react. I listen. I don't know if I'm comfortable pairing Walter locking off with anybody. But I get the point by Tim Britain and like that, you know that half inning when you go back to Friday night, you get the double the walk to Harper and Realmuto coming on with coming up down to at that stage, he ends up in the three run home run to give you five for lead. I mean, that's the scenario where you say all right, Well, you know when you're looking at game situations are you trusting? Lock it there to make a pitch against Realmuto two run lead in order to get out of that inning as good as real Real Moto has been this year. Yeah, my answer would be no, don't. I don't know. For me, dog. Yeah. I mean, that is that is where I'm saying. All right. He did his job for me. Given the circumstances, we're going to take him out, and we're going to go to that bullpen and see weaken. Bullpen it the rest of the way and hold on to this two. Run lead. Let's head out. Tio Washington Heights. It's Hector. It's the family's going on Hector. Move back. How you doing? Good actor. Imagine when you said you guys were ready with a sunburn. I was just thinking in my head what I'm going to talk about and I said, Please don't curse because that's how I feel. So you're right on it with that. I know terrestrial radio. We've got to be careful here. But I went with with the sentiment because it was it was moralizing was demoralizing. We could remember I called your phone and now they brought by with you with the irrational or whatever. And I'm sitting here with me on the things right and I'm sitting there and it's not irrational. Was sitting there Friday night even after the ground, not starting and everything and they have a lead, and I'm thinking I'm getting excited. And The borders are beating the Braves and I even take him out by my friends. I said, if we went to a lot of three years and the models can sweep and we could get out of this wicked and then everybody's at 11 wins, and then we go to my end. I'm not going out. Just like I told you Feelgood before division and I'm still not before Division. I'm crazy like I'm trying to be optimistic. And once again these guys and to meet guys, the toughest thing is a type. The robbers down. Take it me that said the whole weekend on bad. Just a bad by and they're watching Davy and Dom stroke because they've been playing so good, but that was a little tough to watch. I'm not upset about it. It was just tough, But let me ask you a question will quit before I go. Yeah. Do you guys like and I know the easiest thing When we asked about leadership is always on the grounds of the play on the team. I don't think the leader of the team I don't think that's his personality. Who do you guys think Like, really Liza's people, Khun Like I have restarted about the Yankees. They don't know these things of ballrooms, and they bring all this stuff to make the guys feel comfortable on the road. You know another Alonso isn't it Sounds like he's struggling so much thing right? I think that it's tough layers when they're not playing well to feel like they are. They can still I'm feeling right now. This is something Listen with them is just something missing. But even here, Ramos looking. I understand. Like I got to be tough. He misses his family going home. You know, usually a distraction. I don't have that now. Like who's going to notice this, maybe and say, Okay, we need to do something here. Maybe not. A team meeting with somebody gets screwed up, But something has to give him with a straight into the handsome focus. It doesn't really seem like they're having fun to be on this plane. I don't know. Listen, listen, we're getting Tio. We're getting toe. I think God's Khun establish themselves. Alonso established himself as the face of this team to even think it was very No, I think he can. I think you can. I think they're guys. Listen, Mattingly, I understand. Langley had more of a resume later on in his career, but later on his career when he was no longer the hitman that kind of an M v P..

"Rockets something's always wrong and I got to tell you as we get set to talk to Tim Britain from the athletic about these leading Houston astro cheating scandal to cemex and Yankees no baskets today the knickerbockers lost a tough one to the Hornets last night the nets on exactly setting the world on fire either the Lakers are great story though man I you know watch a game against Sacramento on finding I didn't cover but they did come back and win they always win and the Celtic same situation in Golden State against the warriors so we're seeing some pretty good basketball early on in the NBA and the NHL the Rangers most of the pampers yesterday congratulations to Joel Quenneville the coach of the Panthers my buddies any violent dog seafood from virtue here in New York City on that team control gets a nine hundred wins at the second most of all time the only really winter team that's playing well here right now was the island is that to an extent and that's our been yeah they'll be much better next year when Kevin Durant is available and the Rangers have been disappointing that doubled nobody cares about so what do we get back to baseball with them and football season's over I mean the jets and giants right now a combined four and fifteen Jetta two one seven with the Redskins today in the giants have to want it all day today so once we get back to baseball with the Mets and Yankees who both should be very very good sports here is is a disaster let me just I mean I don't I don't know how you do it now you know me I guess if you want all sports talk station your Mike Brent sass on his way out Michael K. what do you don't they don't do college football here nobody really talks college football in New York because that's more of a southern deal we do it because we love it but you're gonna get a lot of that I know gambling is a big deal now everybody does a gambling shell I mean I need a more it's who's a lovely a lovely lovely girl and a really good athlete I'm good on the and I work with you to many many times but I mean come on how old was he when she made a first teaser but I was nine Saint John screwed me Chris Mullin missed only proof of his whole life and J. J. a couple I mean who are these people come on gambling shows a yeah I mean you know my who's got a more public gambling history New York City then we not good but a matter anyway so well the landscape is just its odd you know the the sports talk landscape is the teams or not very very good am I wrong here guns I know you're a guy that goes to all the events you know you've got you go to see do you go to a lot of the sporting events on everywhere yeah you know everybody around town and I mean the winter sport to teams are terrible and quite frankly what's going on in sports talk radio around the city is is we don't know H. true that New York City right out the ones Mecca has it gun away I mean there if you are near city sports fan right now it is it's the process pretty rough right and the thing is people like all will the next like James Dolan sells the fact that the Knicks are going to bring in all these people he says it every single year why would anybody come to the Knicks right now even New York City right now is a mess your city is a mess when it comes to sports the while the big question it now I have a question for you though yeah before Johnson nobody said that gays would stay who do things out first stormer or case do you think or do you think they're both back next year Somers got a year one games this is your number two for Pat your number one for Adam soul the the patient's dial obviously depends on how long you're here I don't think out in case would be fired if the year one anyway and he's done a terrible job my understanding that injuries and the offense of line to mass I get it there are some personal issues with the jets me included here we over rated what the jets had that's not cases fault necessarily but he just he does not seem to be the motivating type I don't think players really react well to another in Miami Miami he wants everybody told us when she couldn't wait to get dealt his best reach safety couldn't stand them so why no from his three years in Miami we did coach a team to the playoffs once by the way that he was not a very popular coach player type guy first for some reason can't figure out schemes the lady I he's not using he's not utilizing the young fellow what celeb he's got no weapons of line though that that's part of the problem I mean let's let's do you think sure comes back next year Somers Deborah nuggets of some of those at the a three case will be year two and next you'll be his last year if they have some of the results to this year he would even make it through all of next year case Sherman now talking about your three now the question becomes if your the marriage you go well hold on a second he pulled the plug on the live week free I'm real limiting never the case with the quarterback and we went with the rookie quarterback week three so we have to expect that we're gonna be some looks now as it turned out he came out like a house on I don't have that amazing four touchdown game against Tampa Bay and one that was just OK and beating the Redskins but at one point he was to what all as a starting quarterback in the NFL number one since then they want to the judge last week although we did despite turn the ball over again so for touchdowns the giants may say Hey let's give Daniel Jones out second year maybe we make a move here on Pat Shurmur look I will tell you this I'm a giant man who's in Japan and there you jump in yeah I like to do okay I don't think I'm I'm a miserable human being I love the jets right I don't think anybody on either side of the fan base would be upset if the giants and jets both fired their coaches I don't think Pat Shurmur and Adam gase have captured the hearts of the local football fan so I don't think I wouldn't care I met Pat during training camp I sat down with them if you don't know he's great he's like a really nice guy nice nice to my son Gabriel but if he got fired tomorrow god bless him if this is not bill Parcells this is not Tom Coughlin city without engage with the jets so what is it while you were talking on your city support said you realize that you've got Mickey Callaway gun fizz they'll probably give you tell me what day now probably gone but the match that with eighty six games another of ten point one for New York City the yeah yeah lots of Mets manager you got these they'll he's out AT date any that you possibly might lose one of the we are going to lose him this year I mean during the off season with the giants fire somebody that has a calling for I'm just saying that I knew your city sports right now we're in a rough spot listen we and and hockey doesn't get the same amount of Paul but when you can hear his name soon for the Rangers what is so excited college coach tough guy bye bye bye and they're not doing great so yeah I mean look who's doing well Barry Trotz who won the Stanley Cup of the capital's two years ago that the owners of the playoffs last year and the others are playing very well this year he's doing well everybody loves Ken Jacobsen in broken with the nets everybody they've been a bit disappointing to start the season a bit opal defensively that's a problem that is way for next year though right hi res been injured do you know about the waiting for the right next year so he's not going anywhere I'm not sure yet but we I mean the Italian your city's rough spots now no I know and who does not want cold spell trying now with the Mets being that he's a sent to figure this feeding schedule with the Houston Astros and talking about that it's a good lead right there there you go professional manner thank you Tim Britain from the athletic is going to talk specifically about this baseball story that has rocked the baseball world the Houston Astros who won the World Series in two thousand seventeen and beat the Yankees along the way and just lost the World Series to the nationals this year at the center of a huge cheating scandal so before we get back to the teams in the NFL and all live sprinklers at seven stadiums around the country we'll talk baseball in cheating with Tim Britain of the athletic only right here ana said sports Sunday Sunday seventy "Science in annual cystic fibrosis run in central park, four miles. Did it eight minutes a mile fantastic job? So congratulations to Daniel who really deserves a bigger. Congratulations today for our daughter. Eva firstborn child today is fifteenth birthday. We started the show with that. So big day for my wife doesn't amazing job out there in central park as she always does. She's a phenomenal runner and daughter Ava. Our first child toning fifteen today. So congratulations on a bunch of fronts. Danielle. I love you. Anyway, let's get to the Mets. They do win. Six to five improved to six and to a hefty game better than the Phillies hold off to an early five and to start. Tim Britton covers the Mets baseball for the he's been here before he's back for return. Visit good morning Tim on this beautiful Sunday morning in New York City upset how you doing? Pretty good. All right. Well, good. You're the the the back to back home on Cole's and the Mets yesterday put up six runs against the nationals ended up pinning five home runs a lunch. So another as he continues to chase that early season rookie of the year Conforto go Steve canot goes and hub out the decision here, Tim, but Mickey Callaway the met manager to put JD Davis in the cleanup spot. He's been struggling to say the least put them in the fourth spot guy hits home runs. How about that decision? By Mickey Callaway. Yes. The first week of the things that the fan base the most reliance on JD David especially gets left handers within the cleanup taught entered yesterday for twenty with the Mets about him when they fired him in the off season. They like busy got crushed left-handers throughout his minor league career thirty four run the flip easily four hundred seventy Myrlie get that Nokia over a thousand. They believe could hit lefties even when he was struggling early in the season. He's making hard contact double been last week in defeat and another both eat to the warning against him. So I think they thought that turn around for, you know, twenty Pat really at the free hit hard contact. And we saw the results of that yesterday. No question, and then a lens, of course, I just mentioned the big back to back home runs with Bobby connote in the eight to eventually tie the game. He's two home runs that was a month or shot yesterday. And even get all of it to be honest. He did some long doubles. Well, and I know it's only eight games in but met bands are to talk about NL rookie of the year. Do you think that's a bit premature? What do you think? Honestly, this kid's got the goods. At yesterday. What was impressive the homerun? You mentioned fitsville the end of that gets up to repeal here. That's not an easy thing to do. And then eating family earlier in the game on a plight or down. Of course, you know, a really good player. So that showed you know, a lot of guys come up. Oh, there's that fall hitters get them off with your speed or breaking ball. And he took a good down insider golf into left field for extra bases. So you're seeing the Purcell for his office approach. It'll be interesting to see what happens, you know, in another six weeks or so the book get out on him. You know, we all the time they come up with Nimmo last year with McNeil happens in the league gets to know them. How does how does the hitter adjust? So I'm sure lovable go through ups and downs you've seen. So you couldn't ask for eating more than you've seen so far. I'm be talking about years year actually, Alonzo Invicta robe lift across the way with the napkin, probably the two most impressive guys for the first eight or nine days, Tim Britain. You mentioned pitchers get to know some of these. Guys McNeil's fourth game this hip or the Mets Nimmo he has really struggled and met bands. Including me, really love this guy last year. He just plays with such an enthusiasm. He loves the game. He gets his club fired up, but he is really been slumping and really can to end the two runs opening day. Then hit the home run data big home on yesterday. Tie the game in the eighth, but he's been slumping to what would you say to met bans about Nimal and cannolis early slump? Don't worry about it. I I think the more concerning because you look at it. You know, it's not like you for twenty six. He's making hard contact David situation for twenty six seventeen strikeouts. He's missing a lot of the last year is prone to distracting out. Keep counts kind of happens. When you have a guy who likes to get on feet of the wall between missing the reason was last year. Twenty minutes about ten percent of pitches last year this year up around twenty five percent, so far, and that's unsustainable. You can't be a good hitter missing. That much you perplexed by it. A lot of it is that fall up in the we saw that last summer when that was we're getting them out. You learned kind of Faldo's offer layoff entirely and then hundred pitches out over the plate right now. He's not recognizing those pitches early it up swinging through them and having ugly things like we saw yesterday. He's got the day off morning. Kind of you. Today tomorrow with the team off maybe get back to their Wednesday, the working on for a couple days getting back in the group because you know, when you look at what is often can be branded leading off given going into. And if that's not there for you. You gotta make pretty Big Joe Wilson way MOS has been a nice -sition. We knew he would be the metro what he wanted real Muto's up to a nice start in Philadelphia with the Phillies, but they did get Wilson Ramos. And he's been pretty sounded. So far. Yeah. I mean, he's been enter meeting athlete hitting. So the speed is certainly not there for almost guy who'd be good solid line drive. Contact all over the field kind of an old school professional hitter of hit pretty much anywhere. The lineup. You know, report five six and protect the handers. They have in the middle of that order with. Hello Fourtou and gives them a rate that Hindu damn if you haven't seen him hit power yet. But that's in there. Fifteen or twenty four you just when you look at where they're catching position thin for few years outside of a couple of months when she doesn't fifteen they had a lot of offense out of it. And that's a changes look into lineup when you get off in that position. Traditionally doesn't give you any tell you, why terms of depth here. Tim, whether it's bent in east two cases, mostly defensively guys, like Dominic Smith and Brock's in available even the game from Mickey Callaway, which you know, he gets very with double switches and defensive replacements. That's actually been a good goal. The mets. Yeah. I mean, you think that the last year and what they're doing late in games guys. Like, we ski or Jose. Reyes check rhymer pinch hitting. And now you can send up a Dominic Smith. We've done a really good job off the bench offense ably. Let alone the defense, and then he got our Braxton. We, you know, not your regular center fielder getting gets left yesterday coming through with the game when he hit. They've got a lot of things they can do the games. Maximize matchups we've seen it. Where the kinship briefly to let you pull him back and put up David that kind of thing they've got different options of getting more of them when Todd Frazier and jed Lowrie, eventually come back trying to start no active. It's morning another fish that. You can look at more. So than you know, when he was on the bench late maneuverability which helps again bullpens that are susceptible to actually washing familiar was talking about the bullpen. He was hopeful yesterday and with three one lead. But then the Mets gave the lead back to him. He won the game. Eventually, but the big news Edwin Diaz picking up his fourth save and the Mets made that trade with the Mariners. It was more about the canal, and he has been lights out four saves led the majors with fifty seven saves last year. So at least early on here, Edwin d is exactly as advertised. The last couple outings in spring training. But we we haven't seen any of that carry over into the undefeated last year when they let after eight anybody with sixty seven at O or something like that. Undefeated after eight so far with the you know. He had said a couple had one out. I think where he puts Reuters out of Miami other than that in very Chris makes a little easier. Then you push the other guys up in any eighth rather than the night yesterday. Just moved into the bread on the eighth, and it just makes the decision making a lot easier on Mickey Callaway. Two more. We'll let you do with ten o'clock to grandma's been brilliant to storage, no runs you thought. He couldn't get better than last year while so far is Cindy gone. Clearly, the two guy, but we lose interesting makes his second start today against the nets have this pitching matchup in their favorite today. But we'll his first start against Washington on the road struck out seven dominant at times, but they give up a bunch of hits three one home run to Turner. So how important is this today early on for Wheeler that that's sort of reminiscent? Where was the first half of last year where he looked really good for most of the time would have one little sequence that cost him? I think it's four pitches. A free run in that game. Kind of role into the free run over that really did. So I think you don't worry about the overall outing. But you know, what he did in the second half of last year was eliminate those poor. And if he can do that. This stuff is there clearly can be he wasn't a second. After you just wanna see him Harry that through for full outing rather than five out of any. Now. You did mention Travis Darnall was back with the Mets today. In fact, about fifteen minutes ago, reactivate them gimme the latest on jed Lowrie and Todd Frazier. How close are they? Playing in rehab games down in Florida. No. Guys got hurt before getting into any training action. Usually a rehab assignment is three to five games any Springstreen yet back a long period of time. So I think we're still talking about maybe a week or so in that range Lowry started that process. Yes. Probably further down the line. We're talking lady today. All right. Listen, tim. Always you're terrific. Nobody knows more about the team while prepared delivery. Thank you so much. Enjoy the met game today. We'll keep reading your stuff. Tim. Thank you so much anytime. Thank you gotta Tim Britton the talking about the Mets Mets. He's Wheeler on the mound. Today. Shores told the rubber before the nets cements look to improve their record to seven and two and that'll be three series in the books to against the nationals and one against the Miami Marlins. The Yankees, by the way, four and four haven benching hormones the last couple of games Aaron judge to yesterday. They look to go above the five hundred Mark with a win over the Orioles today at the stadium. They would improve that record to five and four one eight hundred nine what is the number here again eight four eight. Yep. WABC ninety two twenty two one eight hundred eight four eight ninety two twenty.

"Think he's agents they want him to get on that plane, and how we had a handshake and Jacob what was that like for you to see Brody kind of going at it. And you you just sitting there like Jeff said, I think there were times when we had to let those those two sides talk about it. And I gotta thank. I mean to leave you guys out, but they have worked tirelessly in this whole thing. And I can't thank them enough for what they've done. And like we said Brody said it before it was two sides wanting to get together and build a winning environment. That's my goal here is to win in New York City in play for the Mets for the rest of my career. So we were sitting there with a common goal in mind and just trying to figure out a way that worked. For Tim Britain with the for Brody and Jake can what was that meeting in in. Sarasota, like on Monday Jacobs said he wasn't quite as optimistic on Saturday. What what changed over the course of that day between the two sides. Well, I think there were go back even further ebbs and flows to these conversations these meetings offer exchanges that happened over months. Not not days, not even weeks. And so I think the dialog that that we had with with the group was constant. You know, this is not something that happened overnight. And as Jeff said once we got to the to the meeting room in Sarasota, we were in a conference room, and we probably had eight to ten different breaks in the room where either side needed to step out and roundtable with what was discussed like any fair deal. There's points of contention. There's points of doubt where you start to wonder whether or not a deal can be can be accomplished. And I think that you know, I've said this to Jeff Barry over the years is that, you know, very few things in life for black and white. It's sort of how do you make sense of the gray? And I think that we knew that there was a desire to create this this long term partnership, but we had to figure out what that looked like. And in that room there were there were certainly some fun fun times at one point. We hadn't eaten for about six or seven hours. So I had to make a seven eleven run and brought some tuxedos mini tacos. Infra jake. But we got through. Peterhansel with CBS radio for Brody. What do you hope this? What what message you hope this signing gives to Mets fans that your commitment to win. I think it shows that we have the best pitcher in baseball. And we lock them up for long term to help win now. And in the future rodeos talked about ten day one. And I would just add that. We haven't been shy about our agenda. We haven't been shy about who we want to be and how we want to get to that to that place. And I think that there are there's risks associated with saying what you want out loud because then you have to hold yourself accountable to doing the things necessary to achieve it would. I'm proud about what we've accomplished this off season. What I'm proud about. Now in the clubhouse is that we have a team that can and should win. And we intend to we had a conversation. Even before we came into this room is that you know there. There's twenty five guys here with us in DC, they believe they can win. And and they'd have the talent to do. So so we're we're excited for what this means as we as we embark upon our twenty thousand nine season, and we'll take it one day at a time. Howard Fender with a peak for Jacob. Why were you willing to take as much deferred money in the contract as you did? And for Jefferson Brody, why was that important part of being able to get this done? Because I wanted to be here. I think that was the bottom line. I'm excited with what these guys were able to do an off season in wanting to be a part of this organization now and in the future. And that's just kind of what boiled down to at the end of the day just wanting to be here in New York. So that's kind of what it boiled down to. I think it's just general negotiations. We we had a price point and a ability to go to a certain level of commitment to Jacob and how we made that fit. It just happened to be with some deferrals. I don't think there's any big secret about how it all came about. Brodie given the familiarity you have with each other and kind of the mutual interest from the start of the off season. Are you surprised it took until pretty much right up against the deadline to get something done. Now. Dialogue all the way through spring training wing give play by play. But there was talks back and forth the entire time. So it was just like we said trying to get the common ground in an agree on something. It wasn't. You know, we knew it wasn't going to be just a one off. Let's go, you know, kind of thing. So I think that's just how it works. That was my first one like they said that was a long day. But at the end of it, I think both sides were very happy and. You know, I'm just super excited to be here. Long term. From this end of that question. This wasn't something that was expressed this desire wasn't expressed in the last couple of weeks. This this desire was something that that we I sat down with Jeff with sandy going back to the winter meetings at you know, over a year ago, there was constant communication about. This organization knew the Jacob wanted to be wanted to be here. And I think with that in mind, I believe that it was good for the organization. It was something that was important to me to in a business plan that I communicated to the ownership group when I took the job is that it's centered around this guy, and I think we're all very happy and proud that that that came to light. Are there? Mcdonagh NBC four Washington for Jacob. And I guess Jeff and Brody if they wanna way, and what did it mean to you to see Noah Syndergaard, his support, your teammates kind of interactions that you have with them and specifically Noah expressing his desire to have you back with them at? Yeah. I mean, we're all out there fighting together. So we got each other's backs. That was just I guess a way of him showing that he was supporting me and just the same way. We're in the dugout rootin- each other along. Like like, we said we want to win here. Some some of the guys here how to taste of it in two thousand fifteen. What's that? What that is like, and that's where we want to get back to. And I think that was. Lied to my desire expressing that to to these guys and then taking a chance and in committing to me long term. So I'm thankful for that. And just looking forward to playing baseball now. Priority over here. And you're right. Dave Lennon from Newsday. Pretty you feel like you personally had a big stake in the steel just because going back to last summer. You know, you've been very upfront when you represent Jake, and you you're very up front you became Jimmy this team how badly you want to Jake on this team. So I just wondering did you feel like that the stakes were high few to make sure this deal got done? Well, I think everything that I've done so far getting the job. The stakes have been pretty high because I've hung myself out there a little bit. But if you believe in something why be afraid to say, and then do everything in your power to help help accomplish it. But you'll learn about me as we go forward to now the games are about to start is I feel like I've got a big stake in everything that we do not the least of which is helping his team win. This is primarily for Brody, Jeff you can answer as well as follow up on that. But you guys talk a lot about building a players. I system here with the team. Do you feel this deal had to be done in order to show that to the clubhouse in any way was their concern about would there be any negative ramifications? If you didn't lock Jake before opening again, I use the word need half to be done. I think there's a want to and I think that my goal, and I think the philosophy we tried to create here is is to communicate with the players openly. And honestly, and if you do that, then hopefully, the players will respect respect that communication, even if it ends up not always resulting in in what an individual might particularly want. But we never wanted to go into opening day without without this guy part of our long term future. The New York Post Jake day, Friday or Saturday, you mentioned that you weren't as mystic because you've been was that reflective of just a long term. Grind negotiation or something happened specific. Something happened in your mind that it made you think that maybe was less possible that particular day when you mentioned that no. Let's see. It was just I got ask about it. Almost every time I pitched so I think knowing it was a process. In there were back and forth. The whole time we said, and I didn't really know what was going on. Like, you said this is my first time going through this. And I didn't really know what was going on. So I don't know if I answered that question probably how I should have. But. Very glad with the outcome of it jumping also Mike, you know, Sunday. There was some signals cross. We were supposed to meet Sunday we between us, and we just got signals frost, and we ended up meeting Monday that might've been part of it too. Whereas disappointed. Messed up. I mean, nobody's fault. It just across the signals on why we didn't meet Sunday. But we knew we would get on a Monday morning. So. Kevin Kernan post. Jacob. You've always been competitive, but now having this contract and basically nothing to worry about financially for the rest of your life. What how how will that work out on the mound for you? And we'll make you better. Will you be the same and maybe a little bit more? I think the way I take the field. You know, it's not gonna change that. I've said before I don't like giving up front, and I don't like losing baseball games. You know, my dad always said give one hundred percent, and whatever you do. So I'm going to go out there and give one hundred percent every time on the mound and go there and try to win baseball games for the New York Mets for years to come now. So I'm very excited about that. You're listening to the Jacob degrom press conference down in DC here on the fan. And I'm just wrapped it up. Okay. Perfect timing. So that will do it for the press conference. We will have Brodie van wagon and with us in just a little bit right now, we will take a quick time out. We will come back. We will discuss what we heard, and we will get you involved at eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six as we said today, we've got Brody and we've got Bob Klapisch six hour to talk Yankees. And I've got a severe bone to pick with Bob. We'll get to all of that. But you are next on Jacob degrom staying a MetLife term before we take the break. Should we offer up our fans that get us on Twitter if they have a special coercion if questioning if is good enough to actually asks Brody, you just did. Just rely home. Sorry. Thank you, Bob. My three pages of questions that I've been working feverishly. Let's see what the fans want twenty three..
