Luis Robert Jr. stars as Chicago White Sox top Houston Astros 3-1

"Dylan sees through 6 shutout innings as the White Sox defeated the Astros three to one. Yeah, this was really great. Finally, I think some of the work going into it paid off. So anytime you get a win and hold them, scoreless, it's fantastic. C's did not get the victory, but this was his best performance of the season, limiting Houston to four hits with 5 strikeouts, offensively, Tim Anderson and Johan Mankato each had three hits, and Luis Robert had a couple of RBIs, including one on his tenth home run. "G N coming up after the five o'clock news we'll hear from Leland Vitter. He's the news nation host of on balance and then state representative Bob Morgan. He's introduced a bill that would Prohibit employers in the state most employers in the state from refusing to hire someone just because they test positive for marijuana. We can smoke marijuana legally or ingested legal these days. So why should marijuana test preclude you from? Getting the job, Bob Morgan says. It probably shouldn't. We'll talk to him about that? And then I'll take your calls as well and that I'm interested in what you have to say. Of course we are. I'm a Cub fan. But we've been sort of giving it to the Cubs over the past few weeks because Of their wholesale. Um, well, elimination of almost all that. I just feel for Kyle Hendricks. Kev. I feel bad for what about Willson Contreras Willson Contreras. But I mean, Hendrix was even a Above. Contreras. I think these guys now are on teams that are minor of sub triple A in many ways, right? Yeah, it's not good. I mean, you look at the line up. You've got to go to the Google to figure out who exactly Most of these guys are. Um I'll say this about the Cubs. I think they're going to be I don't know if I want to see aggressive, but I think they're going to add pieces the soft season. I do think they'll have conversations with, you know the Big three Rizzo buyers. Brian's I don't I don't see Kris Bryant coming back. I think he ends up staying with the Giants Long term, Javi. Maybe. Maybe Rizzo unless you know these guys get dealt away in the head to other teams, and maybe just feels like it's time to move on to the next chapter of their career. And I'm not saying it's not something they should have done. They just It was so painful the way they did it. You know, and hopefully the team will be better for it for, uh, for the years to come. Just not for the rest of this year, So they set a record at Wrigley over the weekend, Right? Yeah, a lot of losses at home. It's been, uh, 13 consecutive losses at home. At Wrigley. They haven't won a game at Wrigley in nearly a month state and how did they win that last game at Wrigley, Kev? I don't even remember. Really. It was a walk off home run from Javi Baez. Is that right? Yeah, against the Reds, and they've lost 18 of their last 22 it it It's bad, but this is what you'd expect when you deal away all your star players. And so it reminds me of a day of yester year. 1983. I think it was April 29th when Well, we heard from manager Lee Elia. I'll tell you one thing. I hope we get harder than just stuff it up to 3000 people that show up everything. Day Because they're the real Chicago fans. They can kiss my right downtown and print it. They really, really behind you around here. Mike my supposed to do, go out there and let my players get destroyed every day and be quiet about it for the nickel dime people to show up the mother don't even work. That's why Game. There we go and get a job and find out what it's like to go out out of 11 85% of the world working the other 15 come out here point ground with the mother. I think what the player got guys fucking up enough people blue, and that's the cup. Mike. That's the way to endear yourself to the fan base. 85% of the work people are working for a living and the other 15% come out here. That was Leah. Leah. Things were much better than for the Cubs. They were five and 14. I believe at the time. It never gets old. You know, fans are still showing up. You see them gave yesterday we can feel was pretty full. I don't think it's full capacity, but I think it was around 30,000. Cells, So it's really not a ton to watch, and they're still showing up. Well, that's good in there. You want to talk about the other team in town that's actually winning. Yeah, well, they lost nine to nothing yesterday, right? And that was one of the worst games of the year. Largest margin of defeat all season nine. Nothing to the Tampa Ray's who do have the best record. In the American League. There are very good team, a team the socks could see in the post season when they lost two out of three and lost two out of three. Friday night was a thriller. That was one of the more intense games of the season, but they've dropped the last two. And they since the All Star break at one point where 500 but they've improved on that since then, right? Uh yeah, I can look at the exact number, but you know, it's just sort of this weird stretch right now where they have such a large cushion in the American League Central. And you know, they still haven't this entire year played one game fully healthy, right? That's likely going to change next week when Yasmani Grandal the catcher, returns from his rehab stint, because you know the the way it lined up. Lloyd Jimenez was out for much of the year than Luis Robert. And Amanda's returns and Yasmani Grandal gets hurt. So I think by next week we're gonna We'll get a chance to see this line up. Um, you know, fully healthy. For the most part, at least the start is that we have projected in the lineup. Going into the season so all that they're leading the central on 9.5 games over Cleveland, But, you know, it's just Canada's two week stretch where Tim Anderson is getting a few days off. You're still not fully healthy, but yeah. 9.5 game cushion in the central. Well, I laughed because we've got a texture every morning. Every beginning of every.

"Help You ready for a steamy day? We're not going to escape it. Um, I was just talking Andy. Andy maser is here in the studio about is time to pay the taxes, and I'd love to talk to anybody that's ever successfully filed. Attacks appeal and one like it because I got my tax bill, and it's up 8% and they're saying, Well, you know, the price of houses are up, and I'm like, Well, that's fine. But let's look at everybody else in the neighborhood has its all the house and I don't think we could sell it at that price. So have you ever had luck with that? Give me a give me a buzz that 312981 72 100. And Andy knows everything and anything about sports. So who do you think Because we're talking about Justin fields if Justin Fields was to start for the Bears this year Would he be the Top Jersey seller in Chicago? In Chicago. He may have some competition from Tim Anderson. Oh, yes, yes, yes, because you're accurate. Those the South side jersey that they had the city connect jerseys that they were wearing. That's possible, but you know again, we talked about it earlier. It's a bear's talents. There's a good possibility that it would be humanity have to start and he will have one of the best selling bears jerseys around and it's Tim Anderson back today, and we're just playing it by year. Fingers crossed. I know that Tony LaRussa yesterday said that this if this was October Anderson would be in there, but right now you're you know they have such a big lead in the division. If he's a little sore, why even push it? I mean, it doesn't really matter. At this point. They seemingly have the division in their own hands, and you want everybody to be healthy going toward the end of the year and into the playoffs As a cub fan, you know, it was a little devastating, not devastated. Just how they're playing, but devastated when some of my favorites left. So is there any chance the Cubs are going to bring back one of our favorites? It's It's an off chance. I was telling you off the air that I think the only one that legitimately has a chance to be back would be crisp. Bryant, and I only reason I say That is because Rizzo is kind of getting up there in years. He got the bad back. It's been troubling, especially the last few few seasons have abayas. Yes, He's an exciting player. But You've seen what he's doing with the Mets, too. It's it's feast or famine. And they're trying to establish a lineup that has a little more contact a little less strikeout, and he does not fit that bill. But Bryant is a guy you could build a team around. I mean, he's still relatively young. Plays multiple positions. You know, he'd be the guy that I would like to see come back if I'm a Cubs fan, and I'm sure that the Cubs er thinking about it, But I don't know. He seems to be enjoying himself in San Francisco. I love the way you said if I'm a Cubs fan, So, um do you do you take it right down the middle and you don't identify with any team, or I mean, I'm just saying as a fan, I would be thinking, okay. That's the guy I would want back just because of what I was saying. You know the fact that he's Legit power threat and a guy that can play multiple positions. Uh, you wouldn't have to go and spend a lot of money on shoring up certain positions because you know, he could probably play both of them once you know, once during the week, and once on the weekend, if you needed him to with He'd be the guy. I think that they would circle. Here's what stuns me as a cubs fan when a team is as mediocre or bad as they are, I say you're giving them a lot of credit. Same mediocre. I'm an optimist stuff. It comes. Yeah, so when they're this bad Isn't it amazing that no one has risen to the top. You would think someone on that team would take this moment to just stand out to stand out and I don't see it. That could be part of the problem, too, because you've got opportunity, and some guys are trying way too hard to make that impression. And they're getting outside their own abilities, which is something you worry about, sometimes with a younger club. You could argue that Patrick Wisdom is a guy that maybe is making his mark known and, uh Could factor into things passed this year as well. There have been, uh, frank swindles. Another guy that kind of been around the block. Was performing pretty well. But, you know, sometimes you worry about that, with a younger group that they try to Do things that they're not capable of doing just in order to kind of stand up as you mentioned ahead of everybody else and hey, look at me. Look at me. I should be here next year, Right? Right. There's always a lot of drinking that goes on at Wrigley. Some joke that it's the biggest bar on the north side. I've got to imagine that the sales of beer right now there have to be astronomical. Yeah, I mean, sometimes something's got to get you through the game. You know what I mean? Something has to get you through it. Um, you know, it's it's interesting because People talk about how packed Wrigley Field is all the time and, Yeah, it's pretty crowded. I was at a game, probably about three weeks ago. This is even before actually more than that, because before the trade deadline And it was a night game. It was really pleasant outside and wrote that word. A lot of people there..

"Yes at those some some nice some nice moves on them and they were mentioning like we got money like nine hundred million dollars already rich already like dr cool cars and in fancy homes This is just like help us. Make more content is at any ultra. Jimmy got some money. A abuse coined. I can call them as my in was just going to get right into mind is no way to segue into the august. Twelfth was the mlb field of dreams. Game which. I have been looking forward to since last year when it was supposed to happen. But it had to be postponed to co bid it. It is based off of the movie. Field of dreams with kevin costner was actually there at the game very cool to see him on the field giving a speech about his experience in the movie and this was played between the chicago white sox and the new york yankees and as we all know i am a huge chicago. Bite sox fan so super cool to see my team actually involved in such a historic event. Is this the first time they've done that. Yes very first time. And they're going to continue to do it. So next year it's going to unfortunately be the chicago cubs versus reds. Do they play in a field so they actually had to build it from scratch cornfield just like the movie iowa it is. It's in dire is literally on these set where they filmed the movie. The field is the house that was set in the movie so super cool very cool atmosphere that they had it in Believe they were eight. Thousand fans exit was super small stadium and they built. So are they going to be using this now four. Aren't they making a show. They're making a field of dreams are are so. I haven't ever peacock thanks so glorious freon but it was very exciting event. It was the most viewed. Mlb regular season game on fox since two thousand and five with five point nine million us. It was like i said supposed to be played last year. Had to be postponed due to kobe. Who won the chicago. White sox was very nail biting game at the end. The white sox were winning the whole game up until the top of the nine. They were on the defensive side when the yankees giancarlo stanton hit a home. Run to make it eight seven or the yankees were winning. The socks were able to bat. In the bottom of the nine and our voids tim anderson miraculously hit a two run home. Run to win the game. Ninety eight yeah. And then you'll only down kevin costner's cheek for real. It was so cool to watch. It would have been so amazing to be there when the white sox had to win because isn't shoeless. Joe jackson like from the field of dreams movie. He plays for the white sox right. That's why the team either chosen actually ended up. Being had eight was manifest yet. They paid the yankees to throw the game. I mean i would. I love when yankees. Lose me to god loves when the yankees. It is the other socks but we maintain there you go. I believe the white sox were up seven to four. And then aaron judge hit a home run to make it seventy six and stanton hit a home run to make it eight two seven and yankees winning and then anderson hit the home run to make it nine eight in order for them to win and it was just super cool to watch having costner. I know i've mentioned him before because of the bodyguard but he can still get. I love you. Yes i love him. I don't think you gotta type shout out to my husband. Also an old. Why do doraville guys my age. But except for sure chris maloney then you have an exception to that much makes its money eight your dad but no. I think he could be your grandpa. Three twenty four in two months. Oh congratulations thanks. I can't get into a casino. "Of Dreams Game. Was pretty magical. The game was a tribute to the 1989 movie Field of Dreams. The star of the film Kevin Costner, as you can see, they're greeted players as they walk through the corn stocks on the field. The stadium is near the site of the original baseball field in Dyersville, Iowa. The game was supposed to happen last year, but was postponed because of pandemic restrictions. Major league Baseball says there will be another field of dreams game next August about 8000 fans watch White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson hit a walk off home run into the cornfield to beat the Yankees 98.

"You can't really cop a 32 year old healing versus a 24 year old. But if we just use the general timeline they're saying in New York Carrasco won't be back to late July. He got hurt the end of spring training. This effectively ends Nick Madrigals season. Do you see Rick Con being aggressive? Now. Hey, man, we've lost two men is we've lost Robert. We've dealt with injuries to at some point in the first four months, three months. Lance Lynn was on the injured list. Tim Anderson on the injured list. Adam Angle on the injured list him Billy Hamilton on the injured list. Now, Nick Madrigal, and I can keep going on. Do you think he moves quickly? I think he's going to try. I don't think it's necessarily going to happen. I know there's a few teams ready to trade Colorado, Arizona, Texas are three that I've heard like you might think Seattle, for example. But that may not happen for a month there like around 500. You know, Pittsburgh may not be just ready yet, even though they're going nowhere. Now, if you blow a team away, then then, then they'll do it. Any team that's out of the race, But I've heard three teams Colorado, Arizona. Seattle. I mean, I had a dream last night. You trade for Trevor story and move them to second base, right? I mean, that's going to be a prized infielder on the move. I do think he's going to acquire sooner rather than later because I'm with you like they're still feeling out. Robert in Ely. But I know that meaning when they're coming back, and you don't want to trade too quickly, if if if there's good reports on them, But with Maja go, I know he's getting a second or third opinion. I've talked to people in this camp, but it just doesn't sound good surgery is a real possibility and that would knock him out for the year. So I do think that he is more likely to move now than he did with the outfielders left Field Center field second base all out in terms of their starters. It's going to catch up with them a little bit, but the one thing is, they're in first place, comfortable lead. They don't have to panic or over by or whatever the case may be, you know, you know, I mean, spend too much on within assets to get a player, but I do think he's making those calls pretty quickly. Here. Yes, Cap Jesse so much to ask about this Cubs Cardinals series. Well, first, Okay, So how impressed are you that the Cubs are pretty much owned the Padres not only a Wrigley field But also in San Diego. The other question we have is is about Saturday. It's TBA so far as far as the starter for the Cubs. It's supposed to be Hendrix today. And will that be a bullpen game on Saturday? What do you know? What do you know about that? Yeah. I mean, there's still I don't. I don't know what they're going to do. You know, they called up coal Stewart. Um, they starve Keegan Thompson waiting in the wings. He started one of the doubleheader games. There's a couple operate options. There's there's a few things few ways they can go. It could still be a bullpen game, even if Keegan Thompson starts because he's not stretched out. So I don't know The answer to that. I mean, both pitching staffs are a little bit influx because of injuries. The Cardinals much worse, so let's see what they announced today. In about an hour, David Ross will meet the media now going back to the Padres. Absolutely the most impressive two games to me, where their last two games the the big the two big wins to finish off the road trip. I thought they played excellent baseball. We saw the old Jake area to return. He basically Match. You Darvish pitch for pitch. The lineup did just enough against garbage to, you know, to beat him. I loved the last two wins. I got to say absolutely. Those were two of my favorite wins of the season. And this Cardinal team is reeling right now, that just broke a losing streak. So that means that you know, sometimes they can break the streak. One way or another. You tend to go the other way. So maybe the Cubs are, you know, we don't know. Are they getting him at the right time or the wrong time because they just broke that losing streak, but they are a mess on the mound, an absolute mess on the mound. Both in the rotation and the bullpen with 40,000 there and everything going on. I would not be shocked if the Cubs swept this series. I mean, you can rarely predict a sweet, but that's how bad the Cardinals are going and right now. Cubs are playing well, I mean, the biggest decisions. Ross is going to have to make guys and I'm sure I know. Cap the camp. You're in. Is who's gonna play second and center and right field for this team as guys get healthy, if biases back today from a thumb injury, he's at short is hat back at second, Brian and center. J. Hey, and right. I mean, Jay is hitting 1 67 half is sitting 1 88 those two guys going to be benched as Duffy and Horner returned to the lineup, You know, maybe not that soon, But at some point here, these are questions. David Ross has to answer half a second and Brian and center is a real possibility for the near future. If he's going to keep a word in the lineup, Okay, there is a team and I said this to hoodie on and off the year. There is a team out there that maybe not today they're ready to tear their thing apart. But they are absolute. Actually having those discussions that is the Washington Nationals. They are at a crossroads here, Max. Sure there's been a bargain. Remember when he signed for 210 million everyone, What a horrible deal. He's been in the Cy Young. Contention. Basically, every season that he's been there he's been a bargain. Max Scherzer. They got another name out there that if I'm Rick con, I'm picking up the phone going. Let's make a monster right now. I want a monster deal. I'm either getting Brad hand out of the bullpen. Daniel Hudson, who has pitched for the White Sox before. Good dude would fit in the bullpen and give me Trey Turner and let me play him at second base. He's only got one year control left. Yeah. Well, he's a good player, man. I mean, I don't know. That. What are you going to give up for that? I mean, Garrett Croce. I mean, you know, or your obviously your top prospects down down low. I mean, you have to give up a lot. If I can get Trey freaking Turner and an impactful bullpen arm game on I can win.

"Having guys like Tim Anderson, Jose Bree, you continue to produce Lucas Giolito is now kind of establishing himself, I think is one of the best pitchers in baseball, given his consistency over the last couple of years, and they're at the top of the central I think that this team is an incredibly high ceiling. I feel like last year coming to the year they were kind of a team to watch out for a young squad on the rise, and it feels like they're starting to establish themselves at a point where Feels like, Hey, the Chicago White Sox are forced to be reckoned with the American League. I would tend to agree with June I'm close to it being in Chicago. And look, there's a couple three stats off brought you. The White Sox scores the most runs per game. In American League. They're tied for the best, er A. That kind of thing hasn't happened since the 2001 Seattle Mariners, who won 116 games, so, er a and run scored. I mean, what else do you need? Another thing is you can't throw a lefty against some sort of cut that out of the equation, Even as we fast forward to October And finally, after last week, they won't run up the score on you. As if they do. Hey, Steve. Now they're nice team as well as a really good I saw that was done Friday before all of a sudden the White Sox face of lefty and get shut down any type of panic. No, and we bring in Jesse Rogers Johnson Foundation until the best even baseball after last two games. Yeah, maybe not. No, I'm kidding. Um, you know I could have thrown a few qualifiers in there, but I went back to those couple stats that I mentioned just that. I'm not gonna disqualify them being first in The two major categories of baseball, right, preventing runs and scoring runs like they deserve credit for those stats now, having said that, just look at the standings. The Ale East has four teams with a plus run differential of 23 or better The ale Central basically has won the White Sox. The Indians just got two plus one. Everybody else's negative. Let's just say the Indians or even the socks with the only plus differential. The A L East has for the NL East. Extremely Vienna. West has three and nobody's worse than plus 53. So don't take anything away from what the White Sox have done. I take them because of those two steps when you score the most to prevent the most. You deserve to be right up there. But let's not fool ourselves. They mostly played in the division. I'm looking at it right now. I've just missed it. Yeah, Anyway, you guys notice they played mostly in the division. There's some really good teams in the East. There's some really good teams in the NL West. There's two really good teams in the Ale West the days of the Astros. They're no shoo in for the world, Syriza, but they're among the best if they're not the best. Well, yeah, in the Yankees really did give them a test. Certainly certainly and Jericho you losing to him is no big deal. Obviously, the triple play made the different mean they're about to win that game the other night and triple play against them. So let's just call that sort of an even game. And you lose two Gerrit Cole. I do worry. In fact, the Garrett Cole game is more worrisome to me because you guys have heard me talk about this against the top right ease in the league, and this is saying, you know, you could say this about any team, but we know the White Sox are a little bit more susceptible against right handed pitching than lefties. And what do you face the playoffs when you face all good pictures? Have a team has three good righties. Sex could be in trouble there 17 and 15 against righties this year. It's good, but it's not. Maybe the new John. Yeah, it's not dominant. So Look, they're not perfect. When they get Robert back that will help. I'm sure the deadline. They're gonna dress a couple needs. But the other good teams will address a couple needs. So I think the bottom line is whether they're the best or whatever. They're in that group there in the team photo that can get to the world. Syriza's I know Jay Hood doesn't think it could happen this year. Don't discount starting pitching when you have it, and they have six with Kopec. You can get all the way through October and they have that. Yeah, I kind of agree with Hoody the a little bit. I didn't hear him say that. But I was thinking about that on the way in this morning because of what's happened last couple days also because of their bench. Guys having a play, and we're seeing a lot more of Hamilton and Lory Garcia and Jane Lam that we thought we would see Because of these guys being out Adam Angle is going to begin a rehab assignment. So that's good news that Jesse the The only teams better, um, against the American League Central than the White Sox were 17 and nine are the top three teams in the East. They're 17 and six, So it shows you how good the East is with Boston, Tampa and Yankees. They were combined, Leah said 17 and six against the central, The White Sox have had their way with it, but you're right. They've played a lot of games in the division. Now, let's see how they do when they go and play these other teams. I know they got the Cardinals coming in. The Orioles were at the bottom or solar team that's actually Not not easy. They're not pushovers, and they've got some guys who can actually do some things. So it's an interesting time for the White Sox right now and We saw yesterday. Dylan sees is really good when things are rolling. But when there's a little bit of just a little bit of problem, it seems like he loses it a little bit. Little bit little bit. Yeah, you would have liked him to lock back in after giving up one or whatever, but Yeah, he lost little bit and then found it was able to get to get a little bit. Well, I guess he didn't completely get through five, right? But, yeah. I mean, you're right. You're right. He did kind of lose. The first three innings were great. So you have to. You have to wonder about 2nd and 3rd time through the orders when it comes to young pitchers, right haters gonna make adjustments that pitchers have to adjust back. So certainly the challenge for him, But you're not wrong. You know, you got a match. Gerrit Cole pitch for pitch, and he simply wasn't able to do that. Even through five innings start. Let's just say he.

"The white sox used to have their games and you were a part of the broadcasts and I think it's interesting because of the dynamic of the fan base because of the dynamic of baseball and because of a lot of things but also because people just feel the need to fire opinions immediately on on social media. Am i way off base. Oh i think everybody has opinions it just now. We have a way to get them out there. And i'm not. I mean for me personally. I am more than comfortable with being disagreed with. Because i feel like that happens a lot so when i if i do tweet something. I'm not expecting everybody to be on board with what i just said. I didn't. i didn't phrase that right like it's like you want. I feel like some people are motivated by crafting. A tweet in a way that a lot of people be like. Yeah rabble rabble rabble. Let's go and re tweet and like it. A bit of the echo chamber. That like there isn't really some of that or the people that do the re tweet thing and then say like wow or like this above it like i also think yeah on a base level i think tony larussa 's wrong here and i was actually defender of tony larussa. Which is weird. Because when he was the cardinals manager. Like i had issues with them every night but when the white sox hired him i was like people are overreacting to this. I don't know if you remember that day but it got a little bit racial. It was like. "Hood and gentlemen official from Mike Florio. Pro football focus. The Bears will visit the Rams to cap the first Sunday of the league's 1st 17 Games season on NBC. The team we care most about there you go. Official s and Also boys. He's reporting that the season will begin with Cowboys at Buccaneers Thursday night Football. So good in temple, right? And you are correct in Tampa, Correct. And then Monday night football. It's going to be the Ravens in Las Vegas against the Raiders. Now that first games at those a night game that is on Amazon. Or NBC. I believe it's Amazon, and then you have to give it local clearance in each of the two markets. Right? That's gonna be tough for some people on PA Kettle. If they're not in Vegas or Baltimore are really in trouble. The Cowboys Bucks will be NBC, NBC announced that Cowboys Bucks will launch their 1st 17 games late. Probably that good, So it's NBC. Good. All right. Okay, I'll give me some timeto get the wires together. That will be game number one of 272 NFL games this season most ever played in one year. Wow. That's awesome. I love our predictions on week one on May 12th and we also have confirmed idea Thanksgiving. They haven't put the time out yet, but the Bears will be playing at Thanksgiving, which I love that breaking news. Not yet it Zaluska report. It's a loose report airs it Lions. It's a loose report. Well, that's the first game. Is always the first game, so they will be. That's the 11 o'clock start. Yes, you get bloody Marys in the morning. Get your place in for the day and you start going and 80,000 people upset going home in Detroit. S So what? That's a tradition, the tradition that let's go to the game. We lost again. Scott of the game Thanksgiving, I'm ready. Lost again. Oh, no way lock again lost again. That is all that will be the early game then. OK, So here is the question. Let me be set this question and we'll get to calls. The question is like People hear what they want to hear. Just your Chicago cut. Gets a huge smattering of celebrities David Flom and Matt Moore. Do a great job at creating this awesome Chicago steakhouse experience inside and outside on the patio. There's one table available place is packed pandemics over place is packed. Which current Chicago athlete has enough swag that they are the one that gets that table already have my answer. You have yours? I do. My answer is Tim Anderson. My answer is Patrick Kane, and it's not even close it Z Tim Anderson. If you have the most swag in the city, he comes in there with a smile. You know, Joking around comes in there with his wife has a good time. They're gonna be like Yes. Take the table, sir. Right? Right right here. So I'm Anderson gets that That is the question with you, honey, because, you know, I hate to argue with you. Let's say the young man or woman, the hostess and Chicago cut that has to see Tim Anderson. You think when he walks in here she is going to know who he is, unless he says My name's Tim Anderson. Just looking at his face. I'm just wondering. Is he that big of a star that people recognized him? Anderson could they could they pick him out? Danny thinks that Khalil Mack would be far more recognizable walking it because he looks like a superhero. The size of him the mass of him. I don't know the guy that changed the game for Major league Baseball can't get a table in Chicago Cut but we're talking about how how many people really watch baseball pay attention, Baseball. Plus, listen, no disrespect. You know, this is the Southside Station. We love the White Sox here, but He's on the White Sox, and until this year, they weren't that relevant in conversations to be had about baseball. I'm just wondering if by appearance alone, you know, he walks in. They're gonna be like, Oh, my God. It's Tim Anderson. Like does he get that on the street? Right? And I don't think Patrick Kane. You said on the street. No, and I don't disagree with you. He just looks like a regular dude that could work in any accounting firm. And that's your Kate. Absolutely get. That's why I think Khalil Max that guy because he looks like it looks a superhero like the part that guy Danny and I were on the field of Bourbon name. Khalil walked right by us and we're both like Oh, God. And then Danny and I pre pandemic Got seats, first row with white socks. Brewers Spring training game in Peoria. We went there were in the first row. Rick Renteria was this close to the bumping Rick Renteria while he's managing a baseball. Yeah, he's a cat were fist bumping while the game's going out. And there are two guys in the on deck circle to Luis Robert and a lawyer Jimenez a day any went nuts, guys, They're bigger than Khalil Mack. It was scary How big and strong they were. So that's the question one open table, Chicago cut and every pro current athlete Chicago shows up. Man or woman. Who's getting the table from David Flom that is next to go cap and G Hood mornings on ESPN. 1000, Chicago's home.

"Weekend? Baseball Wise White Sox are rolling along, man all alone in first. Yeah. I mean, it was It was a good week in a baseball really was almost two sweeps by both teams, right? That would have been fun. What man do not start a left against the White Sox. They're 21 1 over the last 22 games, when the when the opponent starts the lefty, and I almost never hear this in baseball from a manager or player. This is how well the White Sox are going yesterday. Lucas Giolito after the game, and even he didn't pitch a great game only five innings, But he basically said about the White Sox team quote, not much to complain about. That is a rarity in baseball game until you're not much to complain about. I'm assuming he included Tony Live person in that statement. But, man, they are rolling and guys, it all comes down to that Starting staff. It is Don't want to say historic, but for this air of baseball, I mean, they are far and away the best rotation in American League and right now you are a wise the best in baseball. That's going to take you a long way. We all know that the most important position in baseball really is the starting pitcher, and they have five pretty darn good ones. It's It's fun to watch them roll one guy after the next guy after the next day, I just don't think the one thing that was impressive to me about the White Sox. Especially yesterday. Is that Yeah, there was a triple by Mercedes, but no home runs head. It says a lot about the baseball and the White Sox, in which the socks there slash line is 1 93 22 29 with two strikes and the league average is that 1 61. I mean, so it stays started. Nothing that's really write home about when U League average 1 61 of you hitting 1 93 with two strikes but keeping the line moving. That's important for this ball club. Is it not? Oh, yeah. I mean, then that's what's been fun to watch about both sides of town. The Cubs have been sort of doing that as well. Did you guys know through this many games last year, the White Sox lead baseball in home runs, and now they have the fewest. It's crazy. Now, I think as the summer heats up, we're going to Seymour. But obviously without him and is in there, especially without Louise Robert. Home run totals are probably going to come down a little bit. But that's okay. Because magical mended. All these other guys are contributing some of the minutes. You know, kind of surprising ways that may not result in home runs, but they're getting the job done. But here let me give you one step that kind of points to the offense, But it really doesn't The White Sox are 14 and oh, one scoring five arm or the only undefeated team in baseball when scoring five or more on that sounds like an offensive stat. It's really a pitching staff, right? You get them five and this pitching staff. This rotation will lock it down. So what I'm getting at is I don't think this offense feels so much pressure without Robert. Without him and his. They're just kind of doing their thing. Look, Randell could feel a lot of pressure with the 1 13 batting average, but he's okay with the walks. 3 78 on bases you guys mentioned. That's the That's what happens when you have a great rotation kind of takes the pressure off for everyone. We're not hitting on runs. That's okay. So as we get to 45 R rotation will get the job done. So Jesse as we watch this White Sox team play and they are decimated by injury. They've got Tim Anderson back, but he spent it the stent on the injured list. Lance Lynn injured list. Nick was magic on the injured list. I think he was briefly was he can't remember. No, I don't think so. Luis Robert injured list. Lawyer Jimenez injured list at what point does Rick look up? No right or game up now in the division. Don't have a heavyweight in there. That's going to spend into oblivion like the Dodgers, where the Yankees at what point does Rick start making calls? Well, first of all, he probably started making calls once once. Robert went down, however, and it's funny. You ask me this question. I was talking to a scout. Just yesterday. We're talking about this great rotation and again, it goes back to that. He said to me, look that rotation that pitching staff is buying Rick on sometime. Like in another scenario, you would have thought he'd have to go out and get a center fielder right away like Billy Hamilton is not enough. But the way they're pitching and the way some other guys are stepping up like Mercedes is still hitting. He's bought some. He's bought himself some time, so I don't think he has to move quickly. And by the way, every single team has injuries right now, and it's unusual. I mentioned this over the weekend for the first time in baseball history, basically, AH, game is averaging one hit by pitch per game in baseball. That means there's an injury waiting to happen every single night. Vado got hurt. White Sox did it to him, right. We see this every night. Someone getting hit. Maybe he gets injured. Maybe he survives it. But it's piling up around the league, so the socks aren't the only team. The team they're facing on a nightly basis is probably injured as well. So cap I think you can wait it out a little bit. As long as this rotation is doing what it's doing Eventually, they're gonna have to get some runs and make up for the loss of Robert all that stuff, But right now, I think they can survive like you survive another four weeks, then we start trading season. And you'll find the center fielder. So the cubs are 17 and 17 going into the Indian Syriza's s. Oh, that'll be interesting to see how the Cubs will fare. What do you know about Cubs baseball through this father, our ball club right now. You know, it's kind of what I expected Record wise, they'd be about a 500 team, but I think there's a lot more good than bad going on and again. I kind of look it through the lens of the trade value. I think you guys probably do, too. I think Jed's more likely to sell in July than not. So think about Kimbrel. Great values. Great. Think about Kris Bryant trade value through the roof right now and then I think about guys emerging as allays emerging. We know Nico Horner's emerging, so I think there's more good than bad. Look, Hendricks is under contract, so hopefully he fixes himself, and by the time they're contending again, if it's not this year, he's back to being the old Kyle Hendricks and I know exactly what's wrong with him. But obviously he's not having a great season, but the guys that you kind of are interested in the young guys emerging for the trade value, guys, There's a lot of positives Jay Hood, so that's kind of the way I look at it. If you're worried about the standings, I just don't think they're gonna beat the cardinals. And if the Brewers get healthy, they're probably not gonna beat them either with that pitching staff, So I think there you're looking at exactly what they are right now..

"This is I think that not only will he lead the city in hits Tim Anderson will have the most hits in baseball. Why that is 15 to 1 right now, that's a good value. He is fifth. As far as the odds are concerned. You've got DJ LeMay. He was eighth one would Merrifield is tender one trade? Turner's 11 1 and Mookie Betts is 12 the one then you guys have let Mayhew Sylvia for then what is he on your team a while ago. So why do you gotta? I'm just another example. That feel wasn't working. So I liked him. I mean, if I were spreading around the money, I'm gonna put down Who's fraud wear, you impersonate. Just going to just keep him. Um, gives him Anderson here. He's the one you would calm. Theo up fraud? Yeah number and he would say it's because of the Mayhew. You. By the way caps favor pay up place to win A Merrifield led the league in hits. The last time there was a full season with 206, because I know, but this is different season. You know, I like different season two Manderson 15 1, Heathrow 10 bucks. I like it. I like 50 bucks. I mean, that's that's good value. I like that. It's my favorite, but that's okay. Chris was you bet? Well, I so I actually I listen to the rules of $100 here you spread that you spread it around it, and I didn't. I didn't really get you $10 for research. I've got 5 $20 bets for the $100. Here's my list. I'll start with this because of knowledge is mentioned him. Tim Anderson. Here's the thing his over under for hits on the season. 1 74.5. Okay, I think that's under because if you look at Tim Anderson in the games he's played. The most games he's played was 1, 53 and 1,002,018. In that year. He had 136 It's you say black, please. Better now. I said, okay, much about two years ago. 1 51 51. Last year, 116 in the 99 games they played or I'm going the wrong way. I'm sorry. Last year I was looking. I was looking the wrong way and the Statute. So last year hits he had 67 in the 49. I think he goes under that number and 167 hits back in 2000 and 19 when he led all of baseball. In batting act, He led baseball batting average. He may lead the league in hits, but I think 1 74.5 times time. One soda with 38 left your home runs. I'm going over one soda over. How about this? My favorite player in baseball's Shohei Otani. He's gonna win the M V P Plus 2000 pitching and batting about that show room. White Sox 90.5 wins over Overhang White Sox ale champs at plus 3 80 stamp it when in the A L take that Take that. Are you Are you Are you gonna pull a market and you're gonna parlay all that were those just all $50.20 dollars back $1, But I have 20 on the White Sox to win the American League as well. You still have $70? Well inside. You know, you're so I thought we were going around. You know where I got my eye. Got my $100 that like you asked me the Chicago backside make if I was betting Major league baseball, my $100. I bet I've divided it into two bets. The first one is that one soda will lead the major leagues in home runs. That's plus 1300. I thought it was good value. And the other 1 50 bucks on Yu Darvish to win the NL Cy Young and Plus 1200 take that Come fair salt in the wound right there. All right. We need a contestant for my wife, a radio partner, speaking about winning 3123323776. You're gonna win some steak. If you guess. Two out of three of these answers were playing original rules. It's Waddle's wife or me. Is who you have to pick between. As far as the quotes 3323776. Let's go caller 20, you'll get to play coming up next to.

Tim Anderson $1 Shohei Otani Chris $100 $50.20 $10 $70 White Sox fifth 67 Mookie Betts 50 bucks 38 20 Last year DJ LeMay Anderson 136 Two

"I was gonna say. I believe the genesis of why we focus on tim anderson with sort of as an addendum to our pune content like. He's a frequent weaker of elber. Pune so that is what brought him into the forefront. I think chris yeah. Yeah and he's he's really like he's a full moon guy or was a full moon guy back when you could be a full moon guy but the brothers band charles and richard. They love love. Love tim donaldson. But yeah kinda came around with this just because we had been doing the the albert pune episodes. And i'm perfectly fine. Just trying to shoehorn in albert pune into every single episode humanly possible like whenever we can to keep pune peeling the masses and spreading the gospel. But the good thing is this is like this is vintage albert. Pune like this is. This is one of his his more creative periods. I feel and this is a solid movie especially considering our pins. Relationship with full moon was a bit contentious. A little difficult to say. The least and this one i believe he shot doll man. Jack maybe you can help me out. Here he shot back to back with another movie. Which is what the interior sets are actually from. I could probably get a time. Member ought this archaic kate arcade. Yeah and now. I mean man did not have much of a budget. Arcade may have had a little bit larger budget. But it was. It was a big financial disaster. Like it did not do well at all whereas doll man. Maybe it was a little bit more successful but it was a classic charles band film. So if you've got your you've got your charles band bingo card out. You know obviously full moon production on you. Don't do not get to cover the use of charles band personal castle space that there's no castle here but it is a film that was created by an idea and poster. They had a poster that said doll man and then charles was just like words william. Acl's this is the movie. Yeah and albert's like sure why not and what it is is it's kind of like albert..

"I'm tomorrow at this time. Three o'clock Friday. We will have Charles Barkley on the show. So make sure you're with us. Always entertaining. He always has thoughts on the Super Bowl and foot chunk gambling. It's Did you see this Trevor moment story that he tweeted out. I think so about Tom Brady working out in the parking lot. The rain before that that match Yeah. At Merck sentence this, he says, I'll never forget back in May at the match to a few hours before tee off, Brady is in the parking lot at medalist. In the rain by himself doing this strenuous sprint stretch workout. Charles Barkley asked him with the hell you doing, he says, trying to win a Super Bowl. So we'll we'll visit with Chuck tomorrow. I thought Equally impressive was his performance on the boat yesterday. He fantastic, no doubt about it. A Darrin Jackson's going to join us here in a minute. It's great to have him and land on our station with white socks of reporting to spring training. Don't forget your where the brand new home of the Sox can also find the socks on television and NBC Sports Chicago Chuck are finer, buddy. Get a podcast with him, Anderson and take a listen to what they were discussing. Because I think I felt like that team. Your team last year. It was too late Bag like, yeah, way need that dog was like we need like we need some Like Let's go out. And would these more likely? He? They're like, type of attitude versus life. Don't win today. Or like no, let's go ahead and walking like it. It may be 10 0 in the first and last Keep going like that type of women like not just like feel around and see what happened. No from in the first inning, let's go. Larry Wilmore Nash. Is Tony LaRussa going to provide that that atmosphere? You never know. You never know. Let's bring him in. Darrin Jackson has been doing Sox games for years. Of course, he was a very good player, and it is great to have them on ESPN 1000 not just now, but doing games. It's going to be fun is DJ joins us right now on the Corona Hotline, DJ, Welcome to ESPN 1000. Alright, so v. Tom. Thank you guys. It's a pleasure to be with you today, but, yeah, I'm really looking forward to being with the station over the years. Working with land and everybody enjoying, I think what's going to be phenomenal. White Sox baseball. How exciting has this offseason been for you, D J. Pretty exciting, the sense that we had the big deal with what the station number one because you gotta have a nice home that you're gonna have a great relationship with And that's obviously going to be the case now, Len coming over. Obviously, quite the compliment for the White Sox and me in the booth that Haven't come join us on the radio. I mean, You got all these new things taking place? A new manager controversy new players, You know the letdown of the postseason last year you're reaching for stars this year, So I mean, there's so much excitement that is just sitting right in front of us to look forward to. Of course not gonna live up to all that. I like what Tim Anderson said. Right there. Let's go, You know, have this certain type of attitude and There's plenty some teams need that. Tim knows the feeling of his locker room. You know what these guys need a kick in the butt, a little motivation or whatever. Or you could have a bunch of guys in the locker room. They don't like each other, but they're so good at what they do. They don't need motivation there. Go out and beat the opponent anyway, so You know, Tim's telling us what they need, and hopefully they have it. DJ Qian Qian, a manager set the tone like in that man in that manner, and your opinion is Tony LaRussa guy that can provide what Tim's talking about? Absolutely, You know that guy's that imagines sets the tone and you kind of take the personality of that manager out on the field. And if he's a guy that says, Get out there and fight dogs. Let's go to attack him, then. Guarantee that's exactly what these guys are gonna love to do. He's not gonna want somebody sitting back and just going. No, no, Let's be nice. Come on. We're beating them seven to nothing in the fourth inning. Thank Tony LaRussa has got enough experience to know that's not enough. Keep going. And I think they're going to really enjoy playing for Tony just for the years and I played across from Tony. Watch them is a manager saw what his hands were like. I think he's gonna be great for the commander sends and others of this 10, the Louise Roberts recommend his guys with tremendous personality. You gonna let them be down? Your fans are going to get to enjoy their personalities, but also the experience and the exceptional. I think winning percentage of Tony LaRussa brings from his past. These guys gamed from all of that, too. So I think the combination of what he's going to give to these guys with his experience and his ability to let them just go play and have fun and get rein him in when it's needed. I think it's a perfect match. DJ, Do you feel younger? Because you have a manager managing this team who was managing when you were a player. Nothing's gonna make me feel younger. I don't care what happened. Did the move. Surprise you, DJ Um You know what? I know a little bit and a little bit because look, I'm like everybody else. You know, I'm projecting baseball's going a certain direction. You know where we're going on that. Numbers and stats and information, and we're going that route and will managers they're prepared to handle all of that. And all of a sudden you you go to the complete opposite. I was pleased with the I was pleased with the pick. I mean, when everybody was saying this is the worst move in the world, I don't know what they're thinking. Jerry's crazy blah, blah, blah. I was going. You know, when we let this one play out, Why don't we just wait and see this guy knows what he's doing. It's not like he's forgotten how to play baseball and win baseball games. So In that sense, I'm real old school anyway. I'm a modern guy. When I watched guys play the way they should and do and I adjust to what's in front of me. But I don't think there's anything to lose by letting somebody that has a history of success coming out and seeing if he can show you Some little trick here and there in today's modern baseball, But I think he fits the glove perfectly. DJ. How do you expect this team to handle handle the increased expectations? Last year they were the hunter. This year, they'll be the hunted. How will this team handle the new name tag? I don't. I don't think they approach it that way. I think they feel they have unfinished business. And I think that the new additions that Lance lends Adam Eaton's and the Hendrix and also you get a kopeck back and new pitching coach and he met. I think this is like Let's go, guys, This is all new to us. We don't even know what this is about Unfinished business Last year means like we didn't accomplish anything. I don't think they'd take the approach that last year was a true success. It's not like that hangover from one of the world's seriously like we did it. We did it and you come back a little lethargic and slow And next thing you know you go. Wait a minute. We're gonna catch up to the other teams that are hungry. So I think we really do go into this year and literally. We look like we have a team that's going to go up and try and accomplish meeting making it to the top of Mount Rushmore. At the same time you're saying We've been close to that, but we're not where we want to be it. I also think we got the attitude of the Tim Anderson. That is somebody that says one is not enough. You know, we've got it. We've got to keep doing this. Experience of a Jose a brave that keeps everybody calm and delivers under pressure. So it's really a beautiful combination of either what's going to be the force this year and for the next few years or Guys, you're not gonna be happy with what we're seeing. And they're gonna actually gonna implode and take it out on each other because he had the Timander sense. And then you got the laid back guy, So we hope that's not the case. Trying to Darrin Jackson. It's Waddle and Sylvia in your new home for the White Sox, ESPN 1000, It's Waddle and Sylvie..

"Hope You're Friday's going great got Tim Anderson. I want to share that was from later in the show yesterday. It was a surprise guest with us, too. With R B I baseball 21 coming out when we got here that zips sound of some football chatter right there. Gentlemen, there's only one coaching job left open. It is the Houston Texans. It is still open. But according to Tom, Hello, Sarah. The NFL network with all eyes on the Texan's head coaching search. The team conducted interviews today with former NFL head coach Jim Caldwell and longtime NFL quarterback Josh McCown. How about that little Joshie football? All right. So Watson's getting traded, right? He's supporting his way out. Just Josh is one of my favorite guys in football. Is he Does he live in Houston now? No, he lives in Carolina. I think he coaches his son's football team I thought was any heat, though traded or something that they release him where it gets, wasn't he? Sort of with the Texans examine the covert quarterback? He was gonna be a nice idea. Everyone went down. Here's what pal Sarah's second Tweet, says Josh McCown is strong leadership traits and intends to get into coaching. Eventually. He's been rumored as a possible NFL head coach during previous stops, but his plan has been to watch his son play high school, A sons play high school football, then the next in the next few years, and obviously This would change his plan, though, if he got his coaching job I love Josh and I think Josh will eventually be a now outstanding football coach is hard to go from the gridiron to the sidelines. Go from being a quarterback to a head coach. It's just hard to do that, right? Like I don't know. Look, Shawn McVeigh was how young when he took over now. You coached for many years showing Faye was Josh McCown played. Yeah, but like Cha McVeigh was a coach for years before he became a head coach. So you believe that they do have two. Most coaches need to. Yeah, I think yeah. I think anybody needs to go and be part of the The apparatus before they become the captain of the ship. They need to go through some some one of the process. I think. I mean, I think it's You imagine like Cutler's his quarterbacks, coach? Quality control coach? No, no Cheap matches. J. J won't get out of the deer stand long enough to do that. I'm the Shawn Watson. The text goes in today. Trade me. The text goes in right now as much betrayed me. Yes, well, you wanted that's got to discredit Josh. It's not true that while you're sitting here is not tired yet. Yeah, that And also Jim Caldwell should be a head coach in the last. Well, he got a raw deal into choice. Yeah. No, Jack. All of our jokes are directed at Josh McCown, not Jim Caldwell because he should still be eco. Jim Caldwell got a very bad deal. Amazing. She's going back to New England. By the way more. We don't need me to do what to the trust tree. He's going to assist the Patriots coaching staff in a variety of roles. Well, because right now what his son Belichick son is like co defensive coordinator, right? Yeah, And there's a former player that I forget who it is one of their their accomplished library. Is it Is it Giraud Mayo, who is their defensive coordinator as well? I think that there is somebody who it sounds right why I had a good spin as a player who is That's the That's kind of the natural progression is that if you want to be a coach, and I think one day Josh could probably be a fantastic coach, but you have to go through process to the chaplain's their vice president right now. Okay? Yeah, but that's not in Houston's different. Yeah, I know that they're not the model franchise when it comes to that. About what that's what that's who we're talking about here, though, aren't we in Houston? How about Houston? Like they may hire that? I don't know who they're gonna hire. I'm just telling you, I I don't think that that's the right path for those who don't know the guy who is the vice president right now. On runs. The team is a guy who used to be New England's chaplain, and then he left New England. Any was with Houston, and then he was elevated the vice president of the team. Yeah, that's a weird situation, so we're there is some several articles out there. I want to get to this while because we're up against the clock. Um Tim Anderson joined us yesterday. He's outstanding. He's going to be on the cover of R B I baseball 21. The white sacks now are one of the favorites in the American League. And the first thing that we asked him, like many football players, you know, aren't happy with the mad and rating. I asked him, Anderson if he's happy with his RB, I 21 rating. Yeah, definitely. You know the ranking. Don't matter. I know how good I am and realize how good are you so if you for someone who hasn't seen you play Yeah. How would you describe your game right now? Almost palpable. Who will stop me? You know, I'm just I'm I'm a problem. I'm a proud nomads, but honestly, no. Honestly, I just, You know, Madame I just work. It just worked at it day in day out, man. I'm just obsessed with, you know, continue to get better on and off the field. Um, And then I just, you know, just learning myself learning my swing, and I understand, you know? No, I know what I'm doing in the box, or, you know whatever it is Just mostly had an understanding on it. And you know that Once you understand you're gonna you're gonna take the confusion out of anyone taking frustration out of it, and they just build have fun with it. Regardless of what the results are you can you can hear the excitement level in your voice right now. How excited are you about what has transpired as a team? In this off season and your enthusiasm about what's to come in the 2021 season. No, definitely, You know, excited. Um, you could see it. Um, you know, it's been talked about for over the past years to finally be able to get to this point. Um, is definitely you know great. Um, but, you know, We remember what opened felt like last year s so that I think that's enough. They should make everybody hung enoughto continue to go out and try to deliver what you know what the ultimate goal is. Is the World Series. How much contact have you had with your new manager, Tony LaRussa. I'm not a little contact. You know, he takes back and forth. We talk in there. So you know, I'm definitely, you know. Good. Good contact. You know him until you know what way have on the table. Was there any apprehension when when you first heard that he was the manager? The house. You know, definitely a little different, You know?.
