"I might mention prime. And i'm a student in much lending in public policy at carnegie mellon university. I might've said basically focuses on baton minding on this action and this isn't support systems. I think a lot of people have a vague conception of what anomaly detection is. You're welcome to give a formal definition or an informal one but to you. What is anomaly detection. A nominee addiction is typically. I'll give you a former left. Nation or infamous sense of what an effective is an omni is defined as anything which dates from the normal. So as against the definition of normal is again dependent on the application or the domain better. You are applying tim. Bontemps insolence example. If you're meeting at a classroom right. So it's you're looking under classroom. And if you're dusted regarding ages of the people present in the classroom on the students typically would have age range between say eighteen and twenty one and maybe professor has in asia injured in party fight. Bless or something. I'm just making this up right. So in that sense. The normal is defined because we are under guarding h defined by maybe the ages Drain so in that sense. The deter would be an anomaly in that sense because teachers age his on her age is like different from the nominal. It's in that sense. That would be anomaly in this case. Essentially a number is a field with strives to unusual activity or unusual observations in a given domain. And that's not a nominalization with and since it's about finding unusual things you typically find applications of anomaly detection intrusion detection save. Fraud detection are even in medical domains. Light say epileptic seizure detection on salon.

"Alright listeners. i'm here with barracuda networks. Is tim jefferson to talk about cloud. Security hello tim. How're you great connor. Thanks so Just to get right into it. What would you say. Your history is with cut security while my introduction to cloud security was back in Two thousand fifteen. I the opportunity of joining amazon web services in its early days back when it was only a four billion dollar business in was part of the original team that was tasked with working with the security ecosystem and helping them that are understand how their value propositions could apply to public cloud customers in particular airbase environments so there is a big pivot that a lot of the scared ecosystem partners had to do to. You know how their current solutions that were typically built for data centers needed to evolve and kind of re architect and rethink around what value they can bring the public cloud and ultimately how they had architect solution to be Well architect for those types of environments so that tend to be a big pivot for a lot of customers so it was great to see the industry evolve you know from the very mature data center. Well established commercial solutions in how they pivoted to the startups. That took specific Look almost from scratch around what they can do uniquely. And that's where some of the very first cloud security posture management tools kind of popped up way back in two thousand fifteen. So yeah it's been great to see the industry of wall during that period. Yeah so it seems that you were well educated on how to secure the cloud and you're also doing some educating to the companies that we're using. Aws yes it was journeys eighty s platform evolved. And you know those. Those platform solutions became more mature. A lot of them kept adding incremental security capabilities which again created more friction and opportunity at the same time for a lot of the ice vs s are called independent software vendors to kind of rethink what value they can bring to customers ultimately how they can leverage some of those native services and the telemetry that comes with them to bring you unique security value

Was Godzilla vs Kong the Return of Movie Theaters?

"We spend all of the pandemic grousing about how movie theaters died and then movie theaters came back back back to life. Godzilla vs kong resurrected movie theaters. What are you have to say about this at true easter weekend. Right it's great. I'm glad that people went to the movies. I hope safely and had a nice time watching spectacularly dumb but in my opinion just like deeply deeply stupid in the best way whether this is like the return of movie theaters full stop forever is something i think you and i should discuss. He'll discuss it so three thousand movie theaters showed god's versus congress weekend it made forty eight point five million dollars domestically it also has done quite well overseas. So why did that happen. What was it about this dumb but fun movie. That we talked about last week was shay. What is it about is it is. Are we having a cultural human communal desire to get back into theaters. I know that. I have been having that and i've been talking about that for a year. Now is just that this was a movie that was incredibly legible to the broadest number of people literally it's called godzilla vs kong. These are very understood terms. What do you. What do you think accounts for this. It's a little bit of everything i think. Which is the boring answer but sure. Oh theaters are open again. They weren't in most places. Well i shouldn't say in most places. They were not in los angeles where i live. I can really only speak tim. My corner of the world as recently as a few weeks ago and so this is widely available. Thrilling Action Makes up for Flat Sci-Fi Story in Outriders Game

"Tim. This this is one of those fun ones because over the weekend outriders has been has been blowing up. There's so much talk about when it comes out writers and so i pretty much condensed most of the outriders news into and outriders early impressions round up because a lot of sites don't have their final reviews out but so many sites do have they're either reviews progress. A few sites do have final reviews. And then there's also other things to talk about when it comes to outriders instill so story number. One is the outright review in progress roundup. Of course the game came out on. Was it thursday thursday friday. At the end of last week he came out a. I'm going to start off with ever hearing cova at screen. Ram who put up an article titled progress colon worth the time overall. Outriders is the word outriders is is worth the time. Investment so far it's by clumsiness and serve instability at launch. All the game has areas that needs to improve the core ideas and game player. Still incredibly strong making it easy to overlook whatever flaws are present. It's also an easy game to recommend for both solo players in groups of friends looking for a shooter dive into together and because of the world here mechanic anyone with any skill level can jump into outriders and have a great time with a handful of hours left to go in the main campaign. That doesn't appear likely to change then. We have giovanni cohen tonio at digital trends. Put an article titled out rhetoric review colon. Thrilling action makes up for a flat. Scifi story people can fly isn't being deceptive when it distances outriders from other games. But it's hard to blame anyone for drawing comparisons with needless life service. Dna baked into it. The game is won quite short of being a duck justice his protagonist torn between torn between a human and altered state. Outriders occupies a strange middle ground between old and new game design. Isn't they dented. Crisis that weakens the current experience.

Know, because Pete shooting a hundred, I don't care I. don't fucking care. So. Yeah but but yeah, we talked about at one time on the radio and I don't know how we got there. But then again, I never know how we ever get on any of the topics. And I recall the REFU- people and again, it wasn't like everybody by any means most people would want to have it but there are a few people like no. I would never surprised it's that everybody would want and it's like, okay. Yeah, you're right. Why? Why should I assume everybody would want it but to me it's it's you know and it doesn't change. So I guess I. Guess what I'm saying here I am going to be forty four on Sunday. And I think if I get to eighty four, I'll probably be thinking the exact same thing. I. Don't think it will ever go away. You kind of learn these things as you. You're like I was when you're like twenty, one of forty four I won't be thinking this won't be thinking in is it turns out you do. So now I'm resigned to the fact that when I'm eighty four if I get there that that that's the that would be the thought process. It's the same thing. Now, what is within the realm of reality may be may have changed drastically, but it's the exact same thought process. So this leads to. Well. I'm going to pivot off of it because I still have all these erotic stories, and then we have this one female listener who female listener. And now take it into a different arena, but still under the umbrella of sexuality. Twice that we were locked and loaded for Q FDA. This week. This is this is this could be a four parter, it can't be, but it could be. High Tim and Gangster Pete. I'm riding in an attempt to receive a reflective answer while realizing that by asking this question slash making the statement I'm revealing my own hypocrisy in risk being the first rider to receive fuck you in reply. But here goes as a listener, the.

"Yes! Yes, welcome into questions from the audience on the Tim mckernan show. June thirtieth two thousand twenty is when we are recording this gangster piano. Put up right away. Put it up right away because you know why we didn't do one last week. That's right. So. I. I know there are a number of people. who are tuning in today I think we've broken a record for questions There's no way that I can get to the mall and and I'll I'll do my best to answer them as much as I possibly can, so, but we didn't do one last week so last week again for the purpose of attempting to be transparent as possible and I try to be more transparent on on the Tim Kern show podcast to give people Roi for subscribing as we want you to do and giving positive reviews at possible, but then at the same time when I talk about reviews, I know there's. So many people hate me. It's like. It's going to be like you know gives them place to go attack, so maybe it's not a good thing, but either way. That's the that's the deal. When you're doing a podcast. You talk about that stuff, so I'm working on stuff. Week and a I had recorded something. And then I was asked to go into a meeting that I. was told was going to take two minutes. It's twelve thirty at this point means gangster. Pete has been here at this point for what seven hours or so something like that. That's right and gentlemen. Is a great guy for the record. asked me to meet I. Thought it was just going to be a quick. Little conversation turns out to be a long conversation. Our one o'clock come back in. Thanks for repeat. Describe your emotions. there there is a confluence of factors that Kinda got me heated that you were pissed. Mostly my my time isn't valued by St- The station so Why are you sharpshooting me like that? No, not you're not the station you. that. We made it clear you don't own the station. That is absolutely the only one in that boat so when you know my time start. Getting. Wasn't the station. Who did it was me? It was really me, but like I, said a confluence of factors that having a bad mood, and then as the time kept going. got more and more angry. I was just I ready to bolt by the time. Yes, I understand so gangster Peten is, you can blame me for their no episode last week I. I was a a diva. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no It's on me because your premise was I think you could have said I. Think you did say? You would've taken two minutes to come out or two seconds to come out and say the meetings going longer than I thought it was going to go so that's on me, you know the buck stops here. It's my. So, when I came back to the podcast studio from the meeting. And he clearly, you're on tilt. you know I recognize that I have no problem. I want people to be comfortable on us. Never gets you know violent or crossed the line I. You know listen. We got two years of a track record together. People are gonNA. Get pissed when you when you go to war together, you know it's. Not every locker room has moments of Utopian behavior You know every single day. So that's that's that's the way.

"Podcast that explains that all of this information is information. I want to be really clear about this particular issue. We talk a lot about these things we talk about a few other things as well. And I think even for the listener who doesn't find this. Topic to be particularly interesting one thing that we talk about at the very end of the podcast that I'd been meaning to ask him for awhile. And certainly I get asked a lot is what are the things that you still incorporate in your daily routine him has written so eloquently about this stuff and has caught aside so many ways to find these minimum effective doses. To optimize everything he's doing that. I think people wonder, hey, which of the things that have really stood the test of time. And so I actually found that last part of the podcast to be especially interesting. Even for me, though, I knew these things, and I can see all the things that Tim does day in and day out. But this sort of have him say, look if I had to pick five these would be the five Tim can be found all over the place. But I think the best places to see him are on his blog, which is Tim dot blog. You can follow him at t- ferris. That's F E R S on Twitter, and you find him at Tim Ferriss on Facebook and Instagram. I hope you enjoy this first episode half as much as I enjoyed recording it, and there will be lots more of these to follow. So with all of that said, please welcome Tim Ferriss. Hey, Tim, Peter. Thank you for having me anonymous weekend. My pleasure. It's been a good weekend could view to. Yeah. What I can't believe is in the relatively short period of time. You have lived here you've become essentially, the unofficial mayor of us. I like to get involved and to explore all the various nooks and crannies of any city that I live in and after seventeen years in the bay area. I felt like I'd left almost no stone unturned have many, dear friends or still there. But many of them have traveled outside and one of the places that was an annual migration was south by south west here in Austin and had wanted to move here. Right after college gotten to know it year by year with increasingly longer stays in the city before and after the festival self and now Thome couldn't be happier. Feel like every place. We went in the last three days. Everybody knew the owner of the restaurant would know you and the coffee shop, and I don't think I've drank more coffee and Chico in short period of time three days coffee, topa, Chico..

"Podcast. I listen to regularly and many friends I've shared this particular episode with this audio have now listened to it multiple times. It takes both Peter Nye few minutes to warm up. So there's a little bit of. Sort of what would you call it a small talk four play? But then it goes really deep, and we end up talking about a lot of things that people like, Peter, and I aren't supposed to talk about publicly. So with that said here, we go. Welcome to episode one of the Peter Tia drive. I can think of no better person to begin this podcast with then my very, dear friend, Tim Ferriss. Not only us Tim, really close friend. But he's also almost single-handedly. The reason this podcast is coming into existence. On other words, if you hate it, you can blame him Tim has been kind of on my case for about two years to do this and more than anything else. He's just really helped me think about how I can sort of put something together that allows me to create something that is sort of new and that is an already out there in terms of content. But also something that I'll find enjoyable to do in that hopefully will come across as podcast gets underway. I'm guessing most people listening to this know, a lot about Tim. But on the chance that there are some who don't think it's just worth kind of giving a little bit of background on him. He's been described as a quote a cross between Jack Welch and a Buddhist monk by the New York Times. He's one of fast company's most innovative business people. He's an early stage tech investor and adviser, and that includes a number companies that most people have heard of.

"He is our guest presenting sponsor on the Tim mckernan show, and I've said to people who will reach out to me, hey, do you, do you know Mark? You know, I mean, you just doing a spot and I get that. And I, I never take offence to it because ever since I started radio and people hear me doing endorsements, they wonder so like with metabolic meals, which I started doing commercials for in two thousand ten and probably in about twenty minutes. I'll be having metabolic meals here. Eight years later, almost nine years later, if I don't believe in something, I'm not going to give some big endorsement. That's just it's just the way I can't do that. Can't do it. So when it comes to Mark having gotten to know him and then also knowing my own personal situation where I needed somebody like Mark. And I didn't realize I needed him till I got age forty, and I'm going, oh my God, I didn't manage money properly. I really passionately want to convey to the audience, the importance of having a financial advisor. And this isn't like RIC. We have to have like some kind of multi-million dollar asset management scenario here this this is this could be your in your late teens, early twenties, and just having organized and just setting aside smallest amount of money and what it can mean for you as it compounds over time. It's so easy. And I think I think what if I go back to myself in the early twenties, I'm just thinking to myself now the early twenties early twenties that I'm going, I don't really. I don't really need this now of Onoda 401K is who cares? And I wanna be able to go out and I wanna play poker and bat and travel and like, you know, whatever, I'll make money. Nope, save it then and his this like gross, let somebody who understands the program take care of you and his name's Mark Hanno with evergreen..

"Then I just go like, and how is it's not obvious, but then you get in a weird spot because he start talking about it and then you put your career risk by talking about it. So I'm I'm entering into a high risk area, but you know my little world. So this is what we're gonna talk about. So the. Question was asked about my in laws specifically, but I'm using my family talk about faith because I think that's where it enters into as if the two can't coexist. And by that, I mean that religion and sexuality can't coexist. I'll take it a step further that being a good person. Now definition good person is different. Like sometimes I'll hope you'll. He's a good Christian white have left how how the Jewish guy listing feel about that as an agnostic. I feel about that. I mean, like the self awareness of the statement, but whatever. I, like I said, it doesn't affect me. But, hey, we're making observations questions were asked him giving you my opinion. That the the thought process that sexuality is bad, and then therefore one who discusses it is either acting badly or inappropriate Lee is is a, I think, a commonly accepted thought process in most of society in twenty eight teen. And so. I liked challenge that now I don't go out of my way to challenge. Okay. Now it's time for Tim to talk about sex in, say how you can still be a good person to talk about sex. But I, I find it amusing really that you know what's say, an athlete or coach is involved with some kind of abuse, domestic abuse violence off the field off the court off the ice, whatever issues, but then that person can you know issue the standard. I apologize and then come back and then like a week later after the Twitter pitchfork mafias moved on, it's almost forgotten or is forgotten, and then you have that person on and it's fine to have that person on your show. But then if you have somebody who is a sex worker on the show, I can't advertise on that show. Well, I mean they're consenting adult doing something that's not against the law. But somehow it's I, I mean, legitimate. I wonder about that. It's like when I say, I understand I can't say the word. Fuck when I'm hosting the radio show. I understand. I can say, I can say the word, fuck when I'm doing the podcast. I don't understand why I just know what the rules are in. So I had here to them even though they are not my personal rules, but I'm just pointing out what I what I find to be, you know, some some kind of societal conundrum. So along those lines when it comes to, you know, the the conversations about porn or sexuality and how my family feels about it. What I would like to think. 'cause it's certainly not anything anybody's ever said, hey, don't talk about that. That I, they know me and they see how I behave. You know, when I'm not on the radio and it's not like, you know, they, they walk into our house and and like I have, you know, a variety of Hustler's beaver hunt, light out, laid out on the coffee table. You know it. So my whole premises, unless I'm off the Mark on this almost every human being enjoys sacks. It's a huge part of life. It's an incredibly important part of the existence of it, much less the living of it. Everybody enjoys it. Everybody does it, but yet we can't talk about it and I don't understand why, or if we do talk about it, it's, oh, you're, you're out of line. He wouldn't say this. He's a better per- he's a good Christian, you know, I mean, and it, it's okay. Well, you know. What? What are our parameters for determining who is good and who is bad. And I'm not saying I'm good and somebody else's bad. I'm just saying, I oftentimes get labeled as bad or you can't be on that show because they talk dirty. I can't listen to my kids and my car and listen. I understand that and again, that's to each their own. And that is a level of comfort. You know, for me if somebody is supposedly a quote, unquote good Christian, but they're on their attacking a group of people because of something that they find to be immoral..
