Unfortunately he plays in the system and which it doesn't allow the throws but when they do through a to. I mean he's really really impactful But i know for sure that he's gonna be worth every penny on that particular docket because the guy is a big target in a system. That doesn't really rely heavily on receivers. So i'm pretty happy for marketing

ASU Puts Two More Asst. Football Coaches on Paid Leave Amid NCAA Investigation
"The arizona. State recruiting scandal continues so paul weeks ago Ataman brennaman tight ends. Coach was placed on administrative leave being connected to the recruiting of violations. That are being alleged now. On on monday they have now added wide receiver coach skill in. Db coach chris hawkins to pay administrative leave so training camp is underway. Asu is now down. Three assistant coaches at of course makes you wonder who might be next. Okay so what's interesting to me is adam. Brennaman was the first one who was really put out there in terms of he initially when he was a jay. J's don't make hardly any money so the idea that adam brennaman was bankrolling some of this seemed implausible if not downright laughable And then the two other assistants who are also starting out their careers as you mentioned. Both of those is to think that they were were masterminding. This situation on causally scheme. But that's what it feels like from. You know from the reporting doug and i have done some of the people we've heard from and so the idea that these three guys at the beginning of their career not being paid much money would be the ones funding all this and orchestrating. This does not add

"The the falcons in twenty twenty one these positions often are the ones where those the fifty three man roster is rounded out Yup and you know we know the top three guys are almost of lock at this point but the that fourth tight end is the guy when we're looking at That weekend when the roster cuts come in real right before the regular season begins for you. And i will when we're writing about that stuff. These guys were actually thinking about because we know lee smith we know. Cal pits eight nurse. They're basically a they're basically secured. It's these positions where the final battles really around the on the roster and to me. That's what makes them really interesting. Yeah no usually know about forty five of the guys heading into depth to that final cut and then it's it's eight or so they are really debating between. Yeah and it's for those of us who are passionate about the entire roster these battles matter We we we love it. I love it And i know with the way you've covered this team that these kinds of things you pay a ton of attention to as well so we'll any final thoughts on this tide. Imposition group your overall sort of expectation or hope for what this group is going to be like in twenty twenty one man i just hope kyle pits is amazing like just i i want the whole group to be good i hate and hers is is really fun to have. I just hope kyle pits comes out here and makes not that this is going to ever be the case but makes everybody forget about julio and just gets gets everybody excited and it's really for like you can do the research. There are not a lot of success stories from rookie in. Nfl history Dick the only one to go over one thousand receiving yards at the very least again. I think he'll be a monster in the red zone. I think he'll be a like a red zone channel favorite for that reason. I just would love to see him kind of not be every i mean if he is everything that that he was advertised then great. But that's not necessarily expectation. I just want him to be a fun. Young player that gets better as the year goes. Long shows us flashes. Julio did in your one because it wasn't every single week of dominance with him at that point and we shouldn't have expected that at that point this is the nfl and these are visit twenty year old down into grown men and so no he's not going to dominate every single week. He needs to learn how to be a pro but give us those flashes of every third game. There's just a jaw-dropping play where you're like. I didn't know that somebody could do that. That would be awesome. And that's what i'm expecting from the tight end position in atlanta this year. Yeah i'm with you. I feel like we're all sort of wanting it to be your three for kyle pits. Yeah now and to your point yeah. It's probably unrealistic. I will be giddy if he pulls in a thousand yards in like eight twelve touchdowns. It's going to be fantastic but setting that sort of expectation. Even for someone with his athletic profile in his promise is probably really getting ahead of ourselves. That said i think to your point seeing so those highlights and getting a glimpse into what the future is gonna look like Could go a long way for making fans. Feel better about the departure of one of the best players in falcons history and potentially one of the best players Ever the position in julio jones So with that said i. i'm with you. i feel good about this tight group But we probably should pump the brakes justice but only a little bit as we head to the season will thanks for joining me on the podcast as always it is feel like every time we get you on. It's it's a it's like a fantastic podcast. I just really enjoy having you on the tiller listeners can find you what you have gone. I appreciate that dwi. I enjoyed as well. "Is coming in his first time. He's trying to instill his mantra and overcome the and and the thing is i think people underestimate this dan. Quinn was loved by the players. We heard that repeatedly so many ways. Arthur smith has to overcome that to some extent. Where he's coming in. He's probably changing things up and they're gonna be some players me like Miss a miss misdee- q. Miss you know the way he used to do things and you need guys in the locker room. Progress shut that stuff down and as many voices as possible so now granted lee smith. So how's it go on the field and perform but at this point as a thirty-three-year-old blocking tied in who was long lankarani nfl. I think that is actually the least of our concerns with him. I think he is a solid vet. That you're going to be able to count on in that regard all right last couple guys. Want to mention because a lot of us feel like the falcons may carry. Four tight ends on the roster. This year makes a ton of sense. With what arthur smith wants to do offensively the formations. He uses the importance of the end position so to the names. I think you're probably gonna be in competition for that. Fourth tight end spot. Jaden graham who you know as an undrafted free agent has made the roster to pass two years. He was on the practice squad as rookie. This'll be his a think his third or fourth year out of yale and he is a guy who i think a lot of training camp thinking. If he gets a shot he could be a decent rotational tight end and then they also brought in a parker hessy who is Roughly the same age jen grams. Twenty five and twenty six. His someone has a little bit of a history with arthur smith. But these guys again. You know it's easy to sort of dismiss tight end for. They're going to be called upon here there to be able to contribute. And i think that at least for me jaden graham. In the time that he's been atlanta has shown himself to be a decent. A third option is tight end. He can catch the ball. He's not a. He's not the most athletic but i think he is a better receiver than some people. Give them credit for. He's actually a fairly decent run blocker in pass blocker. So what are your thoughts on this fourth spot. You feel like it's likely the falcons carry four tight ends in. These are guys of pay attention to if they do I will answer your first question. I i do. I definitely think they carry for. I think that has less to do with the actual tight position as much as it does special teams just with the way that special teams has evolved in no longer. Wedges can be played. You're not looking at you. Know these massive defensive lineman or off blaming running down to be wedged busters. It's now guys who can plan space and honestly jade graham has been every the past two seasons. I've made it a point to any time. There's a punt or kick off jaden graham. Because he is one of the most fun players to watch on sundays. If you're paying attention to special teams because the dude finishes with a swear attack ler to every single a big hit and it's and there's a celebration coming afterwards. So i'm a i'm a big jay graham fan saying i'm bias because i've spoken to him before and i like him but he he definitely does have the receiving athletic qualities. I think that that's a part of his game. That's a little bit ahead of his run blocking ability. I and when he's gotten some opportunities he's made the most of them. I don't know if he's ever going to become like a impact starter or even maybe like an average star in the league. There's just some some part it's like. He's ten maxed out the skills that he has brand. It's very very good skill. Set and only two hundred people in the world have have anything close to that but just when you're talking about the nfl it's a little bit. It's how you're able to succeed on special teams but then when you're going up against levante david maybe you're just not gonna win those battles so i like jane graham a lot because of what he'll bring on special teams. I don't know much. Frankly about parker. Esi and notable that he spent twenty one thousand nine hundred twenty on the titans. Practice squad so there is obviously a lot of familiarity there with with arthur smith. Who knows very well. The tight ends from tennessee. Whether or not he you know it's notable too that he went to iowa i believe and they've got a history of putting out some really good tight ends in the league george. Biddle ever heard of him. He kind of comes down to me. What is what is his thing because again with two of your top. Two tight ends are more receiver oriented. You've got one primary blocking tight end. If he is is just a really strong shore blocker he might in my mind get the nod over. Jaden even factoring the special teams. Because i'm sure that he's at least a decent player as well if that's how they need him but jaden coming in here probably with with the advantage even given arthur smith's past history with has he because at least jane graham has played in. Nfl games and he's got a tape and the fact that he's still around i think means something plus he's he's a veteran on special teams and i do think that absolute when nfl rosters are being put together. Yeah as my friend. Me from the locked on falcons. Podcasts aired freeman will say special teams matters. A fantastic point will and honestly it does matter. You know to be very serious that that can contribution special teams Those guys who get out there in in not just Participate but relish the opportunity to get out there and make plays on special teams. They're the guys that sort of edge out of the ones who are just doing it in in service of the role and i to jen graham. I feel like he's a he's a smart player He's a guy that has you know. He can contribute he. He's got a role on this team and he's shown over the past couple of years that he doesn't have to be a guy that's racking up stats in into your burger point. He's someone that can show up on special teams on the weekly basis. That has a ton of value. Now whether or not The coaching staff sees it. The same way is something that we're going to figure out because obviously we don't know what arthur smith is going to prioritize in. You made a great point. We have to receiving tight ends. Essentially one blocking tight end. What's that fourth tight end. What's that expectation. There is going to be special. Teams is going to be someone. The diverse is going to be someone. That's more block focused in. This remains to be seen. This is part of what you know for us for those was who cover the team and and look at these things. These are the little questions where we we have no idea this new coaching staff. What their priorities are going to be. So this even though it's tight end for the right like we're not gonna write dissertations about The tight end for position..

"Back on alchoholic. Podcast dave walker. I'm joined by the one and only will mcfadden. We're talking about the falcons tight end group heading into two thousand twenty. One talked about the two guys at the top cow. Pinson hayden now excited. I think both bizarre. If you couldn't hear that voice in the first half of this is to me one of the most fun position groups sorta keep our eye on for the season but the guys who are at number three number four and maybe number five on this roster they matter as well we'll and i think the the first thing that jumps to mind he is not going to be receiving tight. End but the falcons clearly thought they traded for. They clearly thought this guy was so on a wanted to having locker room. He is a phenomenal inline. Blocker in maybe in the way that hayden hearst and cal will not be this year He is undeniably a fantastic locker room. Presence in which was gonna piss. Kiss off some of our But i think his values being understated. Because one thing falcons fans wanna see one thing. Arthur smith wants to see is a successful running game again this year. And i think he's gonna be a big factor. Now i'm talking about lee smith We we pulled away from the buffalo bills. This guy has. He's thirty three. Okay and i just want to reiterate this. He is thirty three as a blocking tight. End in the nfl. Some of you may be just sort of laughing at that. I think that is a testament to how good he is at what he does the fact that he has lasted. Essentially you know a decade plus in this league being doing something. That is sort of an under appreciated aspect of disposition. And he's still going and the team brought him in. And i want to give them the benefit of the doubt here that they knew that he was going to be the kinda guy that contributes on the field it contributes in mentoring. A guy like cockpits and this guy that's going to be a strong presence in the locker room. D feel the same way or my overstating Maybe a little bit too much. What lee smith could mean for falcons issue no. I don't think you're ever stating anything with that. Because like you said it was notable to me that they traded for him. I mean this was somebody who i can't imagine out there's always stuff behind the scenes. Wear you know everybody kind of expects one thing or believes one find out that actually know two or three teams were in on this person. And so what ends up looking like maybe a head-scratching move turns out to make sense in the context of all the matters really are with these thirty two teams think and two teams thought. This dude was worth adding than and you wanted him then. Yeah that's all the matters at the end of the so. I looked at this because he clearly does that. Niche levin toilolo the loose stock blocking damned role. And that is something where it look if you're going to draft kyle pits at number four and you've got already kind of a receiving tight end a little bit more of a hybrid than a pure receiver like an angry type but a pretty much a receiving tight end and hayden. Hearse you need somebody to put out there when you need the tough yards. And that's where. I think the move to get lee. Smith makes a lotta sense because he's cheap. I mean he's he's old he's experienced. He knows what to do. He's seen a lot of situations that are going to be thrown at him. So you don't really have to while you're working on grooming kyle pits and you're working on seeing what you can get out of hayden hers before you have other not to let him hit free agency next offseason or whether or not he can be part of your team. That's a lot of coaching energy to invest in two players ukraine. Needs somebody over here. Who just knows what the hell they're doing and don't have to pay attention to him a lot. And that's lee smith and oh by the way he can help develop somebody like kyle pits and the finer points of blocking he can help hayden hearst in the same way like there are so many guys on football teams in in locker rooms. Who just kind of know their role they come in. The coaches are frank. With and say look. You're not here to get seven hundred yards this season here. You're here to help us on four th and one. You're here to help us at the two yard line. And you're here to help develop this guy that we just invested a lot in and teach them how to be a pro and the other part of this is i. Don't know this for sure but this move strikes me as the type of move where some coach. On this falcons. Staff has either worked directly with lee smith before or is very close with a coach who worked directly with lee smith and who was recommended. Very highly to the falcons coach. So i don't know that for a fact that's pure speculation but that's what this move made me think of because in your one of your coaching regime. You're looking for culture guys. You're looking for guys that you know. Operate the same way you want your team to operate. They approach it philosophically from the same way that they're going to set the tone and that's just when i saw the lee smith move. That was my very first thought was okay this dudes coming in here to bash some heads and to set the tone in the locker room. That's what he's here to do and your last point is such a point one. Because i'm not going to dance around it. We we heard from many reporters wants. Dan was gone. in including jeff schultz From the athletic. Who has been covering the falcons for quite a while that there was a distinct lack of accountability in the locker room under dan. Quinn and i think that arthur blank and The rest of the falcons ownership felt like that was something. That had to be corrected. And it's one thing for the coach to establish the locker room and what. He expects all of his players but that coach needs someone. He needs several guys. Several leaders several veterans to carry that message into the locker room to every single player to make sure it resonates to make sure that they're hearing it it's one thing for the coach to do it in to reinforce what his expectations are. But you need those guys. Those guys like lee. Smith matt ryan these veterans who made a long career in the nfl to reinforce that message to every single gone roster. And i think to your point. Very strong one. I i agree wholeheartedly. I think lee smith guy. He's going gonna be one of those guys who's gonna come in and he's going to bash heads like said he's gonna be in there on fourth and one he's going to be in there on third and short and he's gonna get at most seven yards receiving but this is a guy that's going to help arthur smith coaching staff from the inside revamp. What the locker room is. Because that apparently was in the issue over the past several years with this team. And if arthur smith is going to rebuild this roster in the way that he wants to he needs guys like this. You're going to carry that message for him against a very important point So we may not see him on the stat line much but i think his impact will be seen in other ways in. That's something. I'm very interested seeing how that plays out and i just real quick i. I don't want to necessarily like there are absolutely some some good leaders and players. Stillman's locker room is your that accountability. Thing certainly was a factor. But i do think that the locker room probably didn't need a full overhaul but yes an infusion of new people just like there was in twenty fifteen in two thousand sixteen right. I'm a firm believer in turnover within the locker room to keep motivated. Keep guys hungry. Get new perspectives. Dig all while in good but there are some good young leaders. I think On this falcons roster already. Yeah absolutely and they just. They need as many of those voices as they can get especially for new coach coach..

"We're all sitting here saying man. The dude is one of the best in line blockers so to me. I think he's he can get there. I don't know if he'll ever be great at it. I think that obviously he's probably just too damn long and athletic to like really be a just great hunker down blocker mum but so i think that that is why we will see him. Maybe spread out a little bit more than just purely in line. So that's where i think. Hayden her still fits tional. Y tight end with his hand in the dirt is able to to give you something you know. They also brought in smith in. They'll have their traditional blocking role type of of tight ends but even on plays where kyle hits is is essentially in a titan. Maybe split out in the slot a little bit. That's probably still your frontside. And if hidden hearst is in line kind of on that left side or whatever and the in this position in this example. I'm envisioning the play. Going at the right hayden hearses is still on the line. Scrimmage on your left side hand in the dirt. Whatever that gives nat a quick option. If let's say the play is a boot quick three yard four yard five yard out in hearst is there if it's one of these longer slew crossing routes you know the under sam over mike type of thing hayden hers can run that route really well. The thing that the dirk koetter always said and dan quinn always reiterated which didn't strike me watching him in baltimore but they always said that he was such a good vertical downfield seem tight end and i saw that at times in training camp and practice and he made some amazing catches. Just basically beating her and running a vertical. So i wonder if we're gonna see more instances of that but while all the defense is looking at kyle pits or looking at kelvin hayden. Hearst is a phenomenal. he's automatically. I think the best number two tight end in the league right now yes pans out so i think that on the place where they ask kyle pits maybe not be tight end and hayden's the defacto number one. He's still a starting. You don't lose anything there and on the place where it is kind of a true twelve personnel and both pits and hearst or tight ends. You can go to either side of that. Play with confidence and with somebody. Who can you know not only make the average play but potentially make a big play as we saw from hayden hurson cowboys game. I mean edition that allot everybody's looking at number eight. Run down the field and what you just pointed out with the two of them on the field. It's almost guaranteed that With calvin on one side russell on the other they're gonna take the top two corners. Calvin will probably take some safety help as well over the top potentially based on the formation they start off with Which means cal pits. Probably going to draw either your next safety or your best linebacker which means hayden. Hearse is going to essentially often draw a one match up with your second or third Best coverage linebacker and there are very few teams in the nfl that have great coverage linebackers across the board and that is going to be a favorable matchup for hayden. I think repeatedly throughout the season unless they go up against you know some of the best defense is in league. And they'll they'll certainly do that. Tampa bay they'll. I think they'll see a lot of zoned and i think that's inevitable because it's going to be nearly impossible to try to commit that many individual one matchups. You're gonna get beat someone who's going to beat you that in those situations. But here's the thing. A matt ryan is a very intelligent quarterback and he knows how to beat zone. It's something he's done very well throughout his career As you mentioned his physical skills may not be quite where they used to be but his mental acumen. I think is still one of the best in the league. And yeah i if you're gonna go man you're going to get beat if you're going to go zone good luck. This is a a really for i. Think at this point the best way to defend the falcons twelve formation is to get to the quarterback when it's when it's passed so now i do want to talk about the guys further down the roster cause they matter and especially in this position group because The running game is going to matter more this year than it has over the past several years under cutter before we talked about this guys. Take a quick break. We'll be right back Support for this episode comes.

"But i see a lot of similar traits between the two. I have a feeling matt ryan is going to love throwing the ball to this kid. And as you mentioned i think the media impact i agree wholeheartedly is going to be in the red zone. But i've got to think as well that they're going to love using him across the middle of veal daring safeties or linebackers trying to keep up with him yet. I think that's where It all comes into play right. I mean you could ask him to to do. And that's where like. I think that for the twenty twenty one season all of the talk. Julio gone and ken calvin then can russell gauge step up to the number two. That's all well and good. I think the tight end position is the most important position offensively for atlanta in twenty twenty one because not only. Do you have an offensive play. Caller who i think can be very creative now sometimes the benefit of the running back sometimes to the benefit receiver sometimes the benefit of the tight end but the number one. Sp's offensively in terms of versatility. I believe is tight end and the way that teams are moving to become a more pass offensively tight end is always been an important position. Regardless of which era that you're in but it now to me is kind of like the fullback in the run. Heavy eras of the mall. In that you know the way that you lined up your fullback was supposed to give you an advantage in some way shape or form whether it was a cross formation block that sealed off an end so that you could pull your tackle and allow him to be the lead block or you just. I sewed right down the whole and you took on the mike linebacker. Like the the fullback was your way to gain an advantage. Offensively i think tight end has now become you. Kyle is essentially a pseudo wide receiver as well and you mentioned twenty years old. He's going to be a pseudo wide receiver. Four six seven eight years. Because that's going to be his prime and he shouldn't start to lose any physical. So oh by the way and i'm sure we'll get him in a second hayden hearst number one tight end on many teams so you also you have. Essentially two starting caliber tight ends. One of whom can play a variety of receiver positions for you. So that gives you all of the flexibility personnel wise formation. Wise matt ryan should be able to figure out everything that a defense is doing. Because i think that arthur smith is going to use the different pieces at his disposal to essentially dictate to the defense. Okay years how we're gonna line. We're gonna motion this guy. And you're going to reveal your hand to us. Matt ryan if he is declining physically. He's certainly not declining. Mentally that to me is where he is going to love. Kyle pits as it's. It's like when you if the queen the chessboard. You can do whatever you need them to do. And really just put a defense in such a tough spot so yeah he's gonna love throwing to him in the red zone and i'm sure down the middle of the field and all of that stuff but i think he's going to love the chess match. He allows him to play with defenses. Because this this has a chance to really really mess with some good defenders heads though. Yeah i think we're gonna see a lot of twelve formation which for for those who are not into. Nfl vernacular the first number represents number running back second number represents a number of tight ends so be one running back too tight ends in obviously too wide receivers so i can do that and before wide essentially absolutely and i think you know as a defense if you see a twelve you're you're gonna trot out a base defense because you're expecting run with two tight engine and all of a sudden instead of having a nickel corner or even the dime corner out there you've got a li- linebackers and online. Oh by the way if you if you flip that and let's say okay. We know what these guys like to do. And you do bring out. You know your your smaller guys expecting okay. They are gonna go four wide. You just motion your tight ends in and you audible the play and then you hammer. Mike davis off off the guard. Yeah and you're at a mismatched out in the box. So it's like it works either way which is lied so awesome. Yeah and this. Is i think honestly. This is going to be the formation. We're going to see a just a predominant from the falcons this year and it was something to be fair. The we saw a lot of in tennessee in two thousand twenty and so there is precedence where we're not just saying that because of personnel this was a formation that arthur smith us to a plume in tennessee than anybody else last to. Yes absolutely and so we. We say that because he has a history of doing it but now he also has really the perfect personnel with which to run that now. We'll you brought up the second name on this list. And i want to go straight to him because i feel like he's the odd man out here The the falcons did not pick up his fifth year option. Which was not entirely surprising. Because i think you know realistically you pick up the fifth year option for somebody you expect to be your number one starter. At that position. It was a no brainer to pick up for calvin ridley because he was gonna be wide receiver one but for hearst. It's clear that he would be the secondary tie-down the roster behind pits because of commitment. They made to them. That said i don't think that means that hearst is relegated to some backup duty. I think as you just said as we just pointed out i think he's gonna have a big role this year even with cal pits Essentially being tied in one in leapfrogging him at least on paper for right now So you mentioned it. Earlier hayden hearses a very capable receiver in his own right to be a number one tied in many rosters in the nfl. With your thoughts on the falcons having this guy. Essentially as as the number to tighten. Well i think it makes. I think it immediately makes your the backside of your play as threatening as the frontside. And i i would say that look even for as good as kyle pits is. It takes the thing about kind of tight end. That takes probably as much time as anything to transition is blocking and i don't know yes for again as good as kyle pits is. I don't think coming out or that..

"Yeah no problem as a former self. I feel extremely qualified to talk about kyle pits and hayden hearst and as somebody who has wants at their level. You could've had anybody better on to talk about these guys. So you're the pleasure is all yours. I'm sure i one hundred percent is and i do have to say that your agent reached out to my people and we were able to make this happen. So who good talk. Let's just jump into it. You you mentioned the the top names on the list of every falcons fan and for good reason. I mean to be blunt. The falcons put a lot of draft capital into a position that is not normally drafted inside. The top. five tight end is not considered you know in many circles to be a premium position. Not in the same way a quarterback or pass rusher or maybe even wide receiver is and yet at number. Four the falcons took at florida Tight end cal pits. He is in arguably one of the most intriguing prospects. We've seen this position possibly ever. And i don't think we're exaggerating. This kid has got the physical tools but on top of that. The word coming out about this guy is. He has a hard workers incredibly smart dedicated to his craft There is a lot of hope and a lot of hype behind cockpit so With that you know. We're we're doing the preview of disposition group. It has to start with him. So we'll whether you're thought some pits and maybe his outlook for this year and into the future really. Well i mean. I don't think anybody take our word for her. How good kyle pits was perceived as as being a prospect melkite himself said he is the most talented highest graded that he has ever had in all of his years of leading college prospects. So with that are comes a lot of expectation. And that's where ultimately i think it will come down to his mental makeup his his ability. To usually with the falcons what you could always say was while they can learn from somebody like julio and with julio no longer being there i mean he would have been the exact perfect person to kind of manage. Somebody like kyle pits. Because when the falcons moved all the way up to take him that then carried the same level of expectations. That i think we were talking about. Kyle pits right now. So it's a shame that those guys aren't there. But i think that looking at you know maybe using jones as the the best possible example. Even if he's not that the falcons at least do have a track record. And i know it's a new regime and things like that but anthony robinson is still there up college scouting director and so. I think that they've had a pretty good track record with skill position guys on the offense and especially certain physical traits that they're looking for and the really cool thing about kyle pits. Is you can immediately identify one area. Where as a rookie he should dominate. And that's the red zone but you also identify three or four other aspects of his game were if he develops those and they're already far along for a rookie but if he develops those to a even a pro bowl caliber level combining all of those elements together should make him an all pro and one of the best tight ends probably to ever play the game. So it's there's immediate you can envision how in this offense with all the crazy upside that a player with his very unique skill sets offers. And i think that's why falcons fans more than any Things should be looking forward to not just seeing kyle pits in twenty twenty one. But in the next three four five years and just see that growth maturity. Because when it's all said and done. I think it's going to be a good stretch of pure dominance but the the the journey is almost as fun as the endpoint sometimes in being able to see the leaps that player makes this is the base point and get ready for a really fun ride. Hopefully yeah i agree in your brought jones and i think that's a great comparison point for him. It many of us remember julio's first year. I mean he was great. But i don't think we fully saw his greatness for another three two or three years after that. You know two thousand eleven. He certainly had a decent rookie year. But it really wasn't until two thousand fifteen two thousand fourteen in that timeframe restarted realize. Oh my god this guy may literally be the best in the league. And i feel like we're going to have a similar conversation about cockpits as you know that if you years when he actually starts to hit his potential blows them on. This kid is twenty years old. He's still just twenty years old. He could legitimately be in atlanta assuming everything works out the way we hope it does for twelve fifteen years. This is you know. The falcons are getting a young player with getting a for for being twenty years old. He is a very very refined player. Already coming out in obviously six foot. Six one of the longest wingspan in. Nfl draft history. I think over the past twenty years so and if you watched any of the clips from him From florida over the past two years. His catch radius is believable. He high point the ball he catches it low which is something i saw repeatedly where the balls at his ankles and he was digging out of the dirt which is incredibly impressive for someone that tall to be able to catch those balls that are you know thrown sort of ankle height am i. I've said this before. And i'm just gonna put it out there because i remember watching discover player in college and thinking At the time this is a guy who's going. He can't be stopped in college. And i don't know if he could be stopped in the pros and it ended up being true because his catch radius was insane. He could literally take on triple teams. That was calvin johnson. And it's. it's a very difficult comparison to make..
Alabama SEC Football Predictions for 2021
"Feel like discussions of national championship should be perfect segue when we looked to break down the defending champion from season ago and paint. I don't think it'll surprise anybody. When you look at alabama fan duel sportsbook there less than two to one to win the national title there an overwhelming favorite to come out of the sec west at minus four fifty. And when you look at their win total. It's eleven and a half shaded to the younger. Of course we know that the most electric offense that we've seen in tuscaloosa will not bring back a lot of their key. Playmakers nausea harris and of course devante smith taking their talents to the nfl combining for fifty five touchdowns last year. Mack jones get gone of course as well. But it's rare if you're a team in college football you bring in two former. Nfl head coaches and bill. O'brien and doug marrone to help pass the baton to the next heir-apparent embrace young under center. I don't know how much they're actually going to do. Or how much you actually want him to do. Listen nick listen. Nick and hope that they can keep players on the straight narrow that are collecting seven figure paydays at least on the books under an i l. arrangements compared to Bitcoin trust and everything else. They used to collect in the past the one thing with alabama that they've adhered to under this offensive. Change the last few years is that our offense is not changing. If you're coming into the sabin rehab program you're going to adapt to our offense or guys aren't constantly learning new systems and it seemed work but when i look at alabama's dominant they've been with nick. Sabin the only one back to back championships wants it. Feels like with his system. Continuity plays a large role. And that's something alabama's offense that you alluded to just doesn't have this season now. No one's feeling bad for alabama the way they were crew. But you're replacing. Six players drafted in the first twenty four picks five on offense and totally replacing three starters along the line to starting receivers a tight end and a quarterback and it's not just the players four offensive assistance. Four offense of analysts. They've all moved on. So alabama's offense is gonna regress. That is not a question. It's happening the real question for me. Is how large dip.

"You know like getting them where we got him in the rookie. We don't know that going gonna ever get to the super high and we're projecting it you know what i mean but in a startup. There's guys at literally put up production in the range of these tight ends. We're you know that that's my only argument. If if you look at a fundamental yet all the all the guys that finished around hopkinson though if we look at all these guys i we read their names again. All these guys are shaky situations. Hopkinson is probably the safest option and talk. Insane is the guy that's going to soar the most on the list. He's one of the youngest hands and keep in mind. We don't see michael. Did your mouth sanders in the first round pick startup last crisscrossing the first round pick startup last year. The dj moore was the yeah. These guys are fifth round. You know what i mean. But they were literally first round picks a year ago. But you're you're getting the discount. That's what you're finding them but But continued to continue my point on hawk on hopkinson tight ends. Don't normally fully develop until the twenty six twenty seven years old They start to peak At twenty four years old. he's already finishing a top. Five top tight top ten tight end. He has a really good position where he can improve your dear travis. Kelsey wallow is out of the blue even waller. His breakout season was like twenty seven. He wasn't doing anything twenty seven hodgkinson's one of the few guys where he's getting better and better than any still producing at twenty four. He is one of the best youngest tight end. If this with its pits and hopkinson in my opinion those are the two really good tight ends at a young age right now. Goddard's getting up there in twenty twenty six. So you're going to have him. You can have them long term as well Bobber tagnon margaret on. You might kazuki logan. Thomas vodka kasey those four. The guys that finished eight for fantasy points for titans last last season robert tanya. We don't know the situation in green bag. He also had eleven receiving touchdowns. That's not likely to repeat itself. He's actually at target. Mike kazuki drafted hunter. Long logan thomas. he's older..

"Expect it to be somebody who can provide depth behind both ingram and kyle rudolph. I am not sure if that is kelvin. Benjamin but i've also never seen him at tight end. So i think he he is somebody should he and rising john probably two guys we should keep off to the side and maybe keep our eye on them for training camp and then this three-game preseason we're going to be looking forward to because you maybe they will surprise it. They certainly are big. They are athletic and yet if the giants decide they wanted to feature tight ends in the passing game and use them more as offensive weapons and less as blockers. Those guys could have something like an inside track or at least a slight advantage towards making roster. Yeah and regardless. I still see most of these guys as in an uphill battle. And we've talked about a number of these other position groups. There's there's just a bunch of names hovering around aren't necessarily in a position to make the roster it's not like some of these other groups maybe the line where there's gonna be some actual roster battles but the the real fight here is going to be between kate smith and levin toilolo so that is what we're going to be watching for coming up on the other side. We are going to be talking about a headline that we're gonna be watching specific to the tight ends which is how will they be deployed in used in twenty twenty one. Do we think it's different. Do we think it's the same coming up soon. Support for this episode comes from locker room the app. That's changing the way we talk. Sports locker room is a sports fans. Dream come true. It's a.

"I think it is fair to wonder how much he has left. Now if he's able to get back to where he was two or three years ago maybe not be that guy exactly but even close that could help take some of the pressure off to be the primary tight end which would give the giants really a lot. More flexibility to deploy him how he really should be deployed. Your maybe not in line attached to the right. Tackle all the time you know. Put him in the slot move him as an h back or as part of a bunch formation out wide where you can really use his wide receiver level athleticism and create those mitch. Mismatches that we have been calling for basically since. He's been drafted yet. I think hopefully that this pairing with kyle rudolph might really help him out because again taking some of that pressure off visuals might be what he needs where he doesn't need to always think. Oh i'm the go-to tight end. I'm supposed to be manufactured certain situations that are supposed to get me the football like that. Stick route that has never worked. We no longer. are you know. we're in this position. Where i think cow rudolph. He's at the end of his career but he's still a good tight end. He's he's going to be a little bit more of what i think. They wanted. Evan ingram to be last year which is just being the possession guy in a pretty good blocker and then you can ask evan ingram to be what he is supposed to be which is a receiver. So hopefully we actually see that. And we don't see the slamming their head in the wall and assuming that they're going to get a different result this time by doing the same thing that they did last year. That didn't work very well. Someone who kinda fell off a little bit. Though last year. Chris that we hoped could have a big year as tight end to on this roster was cadence smith. He had a really really good time. When evan ingram two years ago was hurt and he stepped up and looked so so. Good in pat. Shurmur offense now jason garrett offense he didn't necessarily get the same amount of production and looks but i think now he's likely going to be that tight end three but that's not necessarily guarantee with levin toilolo looming over him. Yeah i think this is where the addition of kyle rough makes things interesting because the giants made a point of keeping vitolo. I think we'll get into the significance of that in the second half. But kate smith was a guy. We both pegged as one of the real bright spots in the genuine surprises to come out of that twenty nine hundred ninety s in which was just depressing every other way around where by the end of the year. We were looking for something from this offense. Some reason for optimism end Cayden smith was the brightest bright point. practice squad player coming out of nowhere and having a really strong finish to the year and we both thought he would take a step forward as a in the twenty twenty one season for the giants. And it just never really materialized part of it. I is how jason garrett used the tight ends in his office since they didn't really get a lot of the same opportunities in the same situations as at shurmur did which that's the nature the different natures of the offense but also you just. His general play didn't take the developmental step. We were really expecting. Yeah and. I think that we had such high expectations for cadence smith to develop into this really good secondary option and we had the the anticipation for a ton of tight end usage in jason. Garrett's offense which is why it was so surprising to not really see not much production from him especially Year where there was inconsistency from the receiver position in terms of who was actually available. You would think that they would try to get some touches fourcade and smith. That necessarily wasn't the case. And i almost wonder chris if that step back year where he wasn't as good didn't have as much production if that puts him in a battle for that tight in three spot. The final tight end spot on the roster with levin toilolo but at the same time levin toilolo was not very good last year. I mean he made a lot of as blocker which is what his job is supposed to be. I might be wrong. But i recall some mistakes. Molding penalties some dumb things that he did last year when he was supposed be brought to be this enormous body that took up space and was supposed to be the perfect peace for the thirteen personnel. Get no that's exactly what happened. And we were both confused by the decision to bring him in. And then levine. Toilolo actually started two games for the giants which is a thing. I didn't realize until i actually looked at it. He had six targets five receptions. He was not intended to be a receiver. He is basically a an extra offensive tackle and he came in with his reputation as a fantastic blocker. And the blocking won't just wasn't really there now. He took a pay cut to stay with the giants. But i think we really all of us expected him to be not on the team this year to be a cap casualty. You know. 'cause i'm not entirely sure. His play last year really justified keeping him on the roster and just keeping that contract on the roster even at a lower salary number yeah. I was a bit shocked by that decision to keep toilolo around. I thought that he would be a pretty clear. Let's move on and just continue moving forward especially with the addition of kyle rudolph but here he is still coming back competing for that final spot. Maybe they go was four tight ends but that is very very rare very infrequent for teams to do that. Now the rest of this group that we have here chris. Our guys that are likely fighting for practice squad spots not all of them are eligible. Guys that are trying to surprise and maybe work their way into tight and three spot but regardless our are mostly going to be camp bodies. I won the key griffin stewart. Who is from new jersey new jersey native six foot five to sixty played at pitt and rutgers not really very productive in college despite being a very highly ranked ranked recruit coming out of high school. Cole haiku teeny bounced around on a couple different rosters. I believe cowboys and forty niners. Since two thousand seventeen rice. And john and we know about who we've talked about a ton and he's somebody who if his development goes the way that that the giants are hoping and things are perfect for for his development he could turn into a decent player on this roster but his likelihood of making the team is a bit slim. I would anticipate another practice squad year for rice and john unless somebody's snatches him up after roster cuts and then the last one kelvin. Benjamin massive human being who was formerly a receiver transition a little bit more of a. I don't even know how to describe it. It's it's a little bit. More of just a trending name than it is a realistic opportunity to make the roster but maybe the dudes been busting his ass and he actually really challenges for that third spot. But i really don't see that happening when you wanna keep that third tight end as the guy who can block who can clear some paths and this is a guy who was playing receiver very recently so. I'm pretty sure that he's not gonna be exactly that. Yeah i i would expect the third tight end. Whoever that winds up being to be really more of a complete tight end end also a guy who can contribute on special teams. You know like you said as a blocker maybe somebody who Obviously somebody who can be on the hands team. Maybe if they're particularly physical on some coverage teams. But i would really expect it to be somebody who can provide depth behind both ingram and kyle rudolph. I am.

"The same thing as a be solid flex option. You know maybe a number two wide receiver on your team. But i think that's i feel more comfortable saying he's a flex option then after that i would say. Dj more would be. The next player really had a good season last year. Once again You know dealt with a couple of injuries last year but overall was pretty solid Put together another one thousand yard season. I believe you know. I expect him to be the number one wide receiver in this offense. And i expect them to do. Well i think again. He's you know. Same categories robby anderson and ab flex option number two wide receiver. I actually feel more confident. Saying he's number two wide receiver on a fantasy team as opposed to robby anderson and ab. But again i just want to reiterate with ab. it's not because. I think that he's the worst receiver on the team. And that any stinks. It's just because he has to have competition with he's competing with you know really good wide receivers that you know their first and you know he's you know he's got a he's got approved isn't really have to prove himself he he. He doesn't have to prove himself. But you know i it. Those guys got to get the ball to you. Know it's not just you know it's not just him. It's not his show anymore. You know he's kind of going kind of going along for the ride you know. So that's why. I have. You know the panthers receivers above ab ab was like the only wide receiver on this team on the bucks. I'd put him much higher than we're having right now. All right so next up on the list. I have kyle pits. I have him hired just because a lot of people are saying this guy is. The next big thing is going to be the next grade tight end. And now julio jones you know he left He left the atlanta. You know so. Now that's going to give kyle pits more. Looks more targets. You know and matt ryan Say on the show's matt matt ryan loves to use the tight ends You know we go back to tony solace you know we go back to those days. And obviously austin hooper the past couple of years and i guess most recently with hayden. Hearst though hidden hurts didn't kind of have down season you know. I thought he was going to do better. Just because you know the ravens they were built with their tight ends and you know e. i thought he would find a good home in atlanta and he definitely did But i thought he was going to be more productive with atlanta. But you know it. It was kind of a up and down season for him so moving on from kyle pits again. Cockpits going to do really good had more targets now just because now julio no longer being there our sees matt ryan I think that ryan is still a very consistent quarterback when it comes to fantasy. He's one of the most. If not the most consistent quarterback when it comes to fantasy you know he's always putting up solid numbers in. Oh it's unfortunate that his team is not that good as of right now and hopefully you know. Maybe he's on his way out at some point. Maybe after this year lane looks to move on from him and he can go somewhere where a team needs a quarterback who contend so I i really think that he's going to have another good season. He does have weapons around him. I do think. Obviously the julio move does hurt him a little bit but i think he has shown that he could play without julio jones and i feel like atlanta. Their offense is going to be good. It's just they're going to be planned from behind the law because you know their defense still. Isn't that good. That's the problem. But matt ryan solid. Fantasy quarterback definitely Definitely somebody you wanna have on your team I think he's a solid. I saw number one. Qb definitely saw a number two. Definitely a guy that you want to start pretty much every week. You know obviously depending on the matchups. Because there's going to be a couple matchups in there that are going to be unfavorable for him but overall he's a guy you want to start every week so after matt ryan i have the other. Qb will the final qb in the afc south of the nfc south that keeps afc the nfc south. And i haven't talked about yet. Well haven't you know come across on the list yet. Is tom brady. I think tom brady is the best quarterback in the afc south. I said it again. Wow okay the nfc south. Tom brady is the best. Nfc south qb. Okay one is seven super bowl. Last year you know with no training camp. No preseason none of that with the new t. I mean just. It's incredible and i think now in year two. He is going to be even better because he's got a top ten offensive line. He's got a top five receiving core possibly top three but probably top three. You know. I mean what a top top three defense. And he's got everything i now. He's gonna probably run run through the nfc again and the bucks. They're probably gonna win the super bowl again which is just so sad to think about because we get rid of this guy no matter what we do but listen. I think he's a guy that you want to have on your team if he's there if you know if you look at the right spot of course and you feel comfortable with who you have and you need a quarterback. And he's sitting there. Get tom brady because let me tell you something from past experiences. When tom brady is ever sitting there. Lean anybody's fancy dress especially in mine. I'm like i gotta have this guy because brady is a guy that flies under the radar. Still i mean. Obviously you have the younger quarterbacks like josh allen herbert murray Lamar patrick mahomes. Of course i should've badge said fazul homes a lot sooner but i am just naming him. You know brady's guy that is still putting up good numbers even at advance stage. But he's got all the good working parts around him. You know so you got to have him on your team. You really do okay so yeah brady none. Of course after that. I have michael thomas. I think he's going to have a rebound season. I think with jameis winston. He could put up some good numbers which amos i. I really do believe that he did kind of down year. Think people are definitely going to sleep. Michael thomas this year. I think he could be a number two wide receiver on your team. Flex option i think. He's looking to have a bounceback season. So then after that. Chris godwin i think he's a guy number two wide receiver I mean you really go anywhere on your team. Flex option number two Maybe even number one I still think you know. Of course my gibbons who's next. It's probably going to get the bulk of the targets so i would probably have him after chris. Godwin then Well before. Chris godwin the list. I guess well godwin and then next mike evans yep now. I'm confused myself now. All right so then after. That alvin kamara is number three on the list. You know p p. r. machine. I think that even with whoever's starting a quarterback he's going to be productive rb one guy you must have on your team depending on where you're picking of course then calvin ridley. I think he benefits the most from julio's departure because he was really good last year. Now julio's not there. He could put up really good numbers just like he did last year over the course of a full season of course he's got to stay healthy and then after that last night least the best player in the nfc south that is when it comes to fantasy..

"Yeah noah fant. I think he'll still get drafted by people. But i feel like he's kinda short leash so then ever that. I actually have anti erk sir. So the more that. I've been thinking about it. I'm actually kinda high on for her because i swear. I think there was one game where he actually had like. I think he had like thirty points. You know so. I think now the john smith's out there and you got julio guide aj brown and you don't really have a third wide receiver. I think he's gonna. he's gonna see some targets. And you know what ryan tannehill throwing to him. So yeah i'm kinda. I'm kinda hiring for this year. You know now that they lost some guys in the offseason corey davis and And jonnu smith all right so moving on to the next tight. End the on this list. I have gerald everett. I'm actually kind of high gerald effort to you. Know you look at the seahawks. They don't necessarily have that number three wide receiver. Will they have. I think they have well. They david moore and they have maybe a couple of other guys too And i can't think of the top of my head but they of course they have locked metcalf. But you know gerald levert tight in with the rams. And i think russell wilson his numbers could be even better because russell wilson's definitely a huge upgrade over jared goff then after that i would say irv smith junior. He's another guy. I'm kinda high on. I think the vikings you know losing kyle rudolph in there another team. That doesn't really have a number three wide receiver. He could definitely be really good too. So i would say that Are behind him as well. So then after that. After smith junior i have hunter henry. I think that he's you know going to be utilizing this patriots offense I feel like the titans are going to be heavily utilized a lot more than you know like in. La with the chargers because the chargers are built because of their receivers not because of their tight ends. I feel like new. England does not have the receivers at the chargers. Have um it's definitely a different offense. And of course. Different much different quarterbacks. So and obviously you know cam newton how he was with greg olsen. Now he's gonna have johnny smith who is a little bit higher than hunter henry on this list and hunter henry so that should be interesting to watch. I'm interested to see how the patriots this year So then after that. I got tyler be in between the two new patriot. Tight ends i think he he could be really good when matthew stafford. I think now that i think about it. He can be really good. I have high up on this list just because of that. He was definitely good last year in some spots filled with stafford he could be really good. Maybe even getting into the top ten. So then after that. Jonah smith then my top ten cow. I have a top number ten w a little bit higher. Another julio's gone then after that mike. Is you know little worried when it comes to too. But i think he's a he's a solid tight end overall you know when he's You know. I don't know when he when he's actually consist he's really good after that dallas goddard. I mean i don't know what's going on with zach ertz that i don't even i didn't even have executives on this list but if i know where ertz is you know like i would put him on this list but i because you know. I don't really know what's going on with the him. The eagles that's kind of why i left him off but goddard. I think he's going to be good if he's healthy. I think you know the eagles offense is gonna need him I don't think the receivers are that great. But i feel like he's probably one of the best playmakers on the offense so then after that i would say. Tj would be next just because gough loves to use the tight ends and the lines. Don't have a lot of wide receivers on this offense and Jared goff is definitely need all the help he can get. Then after that. Logan thomas i think he's gonna be really good with ryan fitzpatrick this year and i feel like he's going to be a he's going to be super pick this year Kind of I think with fitzpatrick. He's going to be really good at the tight end spot then mark andrews really good tight end. Maybe i would like to see nba consistent. But he is a solid tight end. If you got them in fantasy he does have a lot to offer robert time. I'm very high on him. If aaron rodgers does play. I think he'd be a top five tight end this year. Then of course you got the big three. Darren waller at three. I mean what could you say. This guy is an absolute monster loved. Darren waller number two george. Kendall did not play that much last year but anticipate. He's going to be healthy this year. And then of course it number one you've got travis kelsey from for the chiefs i mean the guy's amazing and he's going to be a first round pick this year so yeah those are my My top tight ends so with that. We're gonna take our first break in the show when we come back. We'll do his schedule outlook on the minnesota vikings so stick around. We'll be right back here on the gsm see fantasy football podcast very best. Nfl and college football podcast. Then check out the.

"Kenneth through felder and we have another great show for you guys today so we got a lot to talk about first segment. I will rank the top tight ends going into the twenty twenty one fantasy football season now. I included basically every team. I'm pretty sure on this list. Receivers it was kind of hard. So with this one i I tried to include every at least one representative from each team. Then in the second segment we will do a schedule outlook. On the minnesota vikings than the third segment i will do a player rankings of the players in the afc south and our rank. The best player to the. I guess the worst player. I don't like to say the worst. But i guess the the best player and then you know and so on and so forth so then to conclude the show i will be revealing my next ten players for my fantasy football mock draft so that will finish off the show so we got. We got a lot to talk about. So let's get right into the first segment with the top tight ends so we're going to go from the bottom all the way to the top. I kept the top ten the same way. I'll refresh your memory with that. Once i get to that point but let's start off the list with coming in last place. The houston texans now again. The reason why have the houston texans. Last is because. I don't know who the starting quarterback is going to be. And if it's shawn watson then i will put jordan akins and The other tight end thomas up a little bit higher as of right now. Because i don't know who the starting quarterback is and whoever the starting quarterback ends up being. If it's not the short watson and it's one of the guys they currently have on the roster like mills and tyrod taylor and ryan finley. I just i don't know i just. I don't know the texans are just not good. They're not a good team right. So yeah i put them in last Okay so yeah. I haven't met thirty two thirty three Anyway so then moving on. I have the jacksonville jaguars as the next team. After that. now the reason why. I have them as a team on. Individual player is because i again. I don't really know who the tight ends going to be for the jaguars and i really don't think there's a tight end on the roster as of right now that's fantasy worthy. I know they drafted a tight end. I don't really know that much about him. As of right now and i think he's number one on the depth chart and then after that so shaughnessy And then of course they brought in tibo. You know so i. i don't know. And i just feel like trevor lawrence is going to be looking at throw to the receivers lot more i just. You know. I don't really know what we'll have to see. It might just be. It might just be a tight end committee at that point so that's probably why i put them at thirty whatever. Thirty one thirty. I don't remember. I don't know if this is thirty. Two or thirty three tight ends than i did. But whatever so after that i put chris herndon. I have him low just because of the injury history and the guy can't stay healthy. If he stays healthy he could be a pretty good tight. End it just. He hasn't been able to stay healthy. That's his problem. And i'm hoping he does because he is talented. But you know the guy can't stay healthy so moving on after that. I have max williams other tight end for the arizona cardinals. I i don't know. I feel like i view him more as a blocking tight end i don't know is that is that just me. I really don't know philly yet. I know i feel like he's more of a blocking tight. And i know he was with the ravens you know so he you know the ravens they love tight ends a lot you know but i just feel like when you look at the cardinals offense you got kirk you have you know. Aj green you have the andre hopkins and then you got you got the running backs in the backfield. I feel like the tight ends kind of a you know a an afterthought really in this offense i think the tight ends are really going to be used for blocking i dunno. That's just me. And of course you kylie murray who can run the football just as well as he could throw it so i don't know i don't think max williams that sound of a fantasy option either but who knows so after that i have dawson knox. I feel like this is a guy that you know. I feel like people had some expectations for him. And and i just feel like he hasn't really he didn't live up to them last year. I think that in this offense to you know you got stefan digs. Cole beasley bringing emmanuel sanders. Gabriel davis was a nice piece last year. You know the tight ends is not really there again. Another after thought. So i think you know. He probably deserves to be a little bit higher because he is talented. But i don't know. I just put him lower After that i would say that jack doyle would be the next option I i'm just gonna come out and say this this list really isn't that good I don't know. I was kinda just going based off of the quarterbacks. Well actually i can't really say that. And you know some short knowledge that i have obtained over the over these players. I.
Is Tutu Atwell Too Small to Succeed in the NFL? - burst 10
"Okay. This next receiver is a guy that you and i are. differ a lot on and with twenty fifth pick of the second round. The la rams selected to at well from louisville. Receive our end. I get their concerns. Ideal disguise five nine hundred fifty five hundred sixty pounds. People are questioning whether he's gonna be physical enough in the nfl. however this is a player. The i compare to markey's brown. I think that in order to be successful. He's going to have to gain a little bit more weight. But i think that to out will be able to develop especially with the la rams who don't need in the -sarily to be great outta the gecko. But i think that the upside for two atwal is especially there especially if he's going to have the matthew stafford throwing the ball and so it was back to murky brown when he was in college him and he had similar stats. Which is why. I'm bringing up the comparison the first place in his junior. He had seventy five receptions for one thousand three hundred eighteen yards in ten touchdowns. Now let me bring up to two atwal stats from his sophomore season. And they were very similar which end so to atwell in his sophomore year he had sixty nine sevens for one thousand two hundred seventy two yards and eleven receiving touchdowns and so these two guys. Besides the fact marquees brown ways a little bit more to travel or comparable. And if you're an you're seeing now to to out while falling to the fourth maybe even fifth out of your dynasty da and for me. I think that's a little bit ridiculous. Because for a guy that had a similar career to marquees brat and his cod season and similar upset that he should be considered a third round prospect for you and your dynasty rookie draft. And i'd say right now. Marcus brand is probably a second round. Pick but i think he could be worth a second or the round pick and this guy. Who's extremely fast as well. I think he's going to create separations and he's not just the speedster. He's not just the speedster he he gets receptionist as well on anyone who puts up almost thirteen hundred receiving yards in college. Season is a guy that is a good all amount of receiver as well. So don't just think of him as a speedster guy gonna occasionally break open deep here and there so yeah. I'm a big fan of to at wall of the i know Oh and one one last thing. He was picked in the second round so clearly. The rams do have a plan for two while. They're not just investing a second round pick in a receiver that they don't see being a great receiver in the long term and this by the way was the rams first pick all draft. If i'm correct so they might have even viewed him as a late first round pick. We don't know. But the fact that they spent their first round pick onto to By having good receivers shows you how much demands believe into Anyways kyle the floor is yours as to why you don't believe in to atwell. Well it says so much that i don't believe in two two at well. It's the fact. That so i am from louisville in. I watched a lot of this kid. He is a very good receiver. I agree with you. He's not just a burner. he is a good polish receiver and a lot of facets of football but my biggest problem is literally is just. This is and the fact that he's completely buried on the depth chart. I don't see any Any possibility of him getting in and becoming a number one receiver on that team like anytime. Soon robert woods. Anne cooper kupp. Both resigned extensions For last year So you already got those positions locked up now. You lose josh rhinos. But they already spent high draft capital on jefferson. Dan jefferson last year. So that position was already and then they spent another was a third or early fourth round. Pick onto harris harris could be used as a tight end. I think a lot of people saying he's going to be a tight end he he. They say he's listed as a tight end but he also weighs about twenty so if anything he's going to be like a a move titan. I don't see him being like inland blocker. But you already have tyler higby as well. You know it's just it's just a really crowded And you also have to sean jackson that they stopped they brought in you know so i. I'm just not sold that there's any opportunity for at least in the first year to now you like you said maybe a if you invest in this guy at the late third fourth round Me personally i'd rather just take dark throws on running backs. At this point you know even a third. The guys are projected to be thirds shrink or shrink. You know a rash of injuries and all of a sudden guys are going to get plight. Be starters and they're going to be valuable. You can train them. You know it would take a stream lee amount of circumstances for for you to for him to get on the plainfield him to productive enough for another team to to trade for him. It's just wide receivers just a position that you know if you don't put up stats people don't really wanna trade for him at all. I mean it's as simple as that you know and i know he has draft capital That's about the only thing. I think he has known. Form at one hundred fifty five pounds. I just don't know if it's worth the headache you know. But then again it only takes one person to trade and if you're only drafting him with the mindset of trading him than you're probably not gonna draft to tell to till In the first place. And if i don't know if it necessarily applies to atwells value the fact that the community hates him. Because there's going to be at least one guy and if you put up the stats. People are going to be willing to trade for him. So i i get that point but at the same time. I don't know if that necessarily applies to At wellness fair. Knock about the onto to at atwill. Because it's not actually something that to two at walt dead. It's more of the perception that people have about two. But it's it's what he didn't do. He didn't gain the weight which i think he will in the way he's still what in nineteen twenty years old. I think he's still
Is Urban Meyer Taking a Gamble With Tebow?
"The biggest story in the nfl right now. is tim. Tebow and the jacksonville. Jaguars on friday afternoon. The jaguars sign boat to a one year. Nine hundred fifty thousand dollar minimum deal as a tight end. His jersey makes up the top five selling items on the nfl shop dot com store. Now figure that out and to me urban meyer's really running the risk of losing his locker room here because if you talk to people inside the league if you talk to executives and other coaches there's a lot of genuine skepticism over urban meyer becoming. Nfl head coach generally. And there's a sense that it's four more likely that he flames out and never wins a playoff game than it is that he winds up winning a super bowl when this experiment bringing in tim tebow not necessarily even as a quarterback you have trevor lawrence. They're bringing tim tebow into that locker room in two thousand and twenty one and having him sing for his supper is a tight end. There's a belief that meyer runs the chance inside the league of losing his locker room before this season even begins

"A statement. Not long afterwards saying i want to thank the jaguars for the opportunity to compete an earned the chance to be part of this team. I know it will be a challenge but it is a challenge i embrace. I am dedicated to taking the direction of our coaching staff and learning from my teammates. I appreciate everyone's support. Is i embark on this new journey. So the story coming out and we will be obviously talking about it this afternoon. We begin with mike dirocco. Who's been covering the story all day and then some for espn. Mike thank you very much. It's great to have you on. And i'm just gonna kick my feet up on the desk and listen to how the day begun in what has happened since then good afternoon. Thanks for having me Yeah i mean we had people on the field for the first time today signed this morning and out there wearing number eighty five and working out at tight end. Obviously this is just the offseason conditioning face to the off program next week. They start organized team activities on monday. That's what we'll kind of the whole team together throwing. Footballs and around getting a chance to see. What the former heisman trophy winner looks like it. Quarter at Tight end whether he's gonna be doing some blocking drills running around a chance to find the tibo tight end could've been well. Let's let's talk about What the club has said. And when will we hear next from urban. Meyer and tim tebow. Well i've been told the tvos probably not going to speak until training camp which would be the end of july At least publicly anyway and

Then i go into the nfl free agency raids and give my race for how teams and john so far and free agency period van fell and finally the show giving my top five tight ends in the nfl. The names are probably on this list. But maybe one or two may surprise you. I don't know all.

"I guess he's a better athlete than Tony Gonzalez was at thirty five. All right look. If he he might be able to put it all together and that would make to throw him seven times a game. I do think I have got him at six targets game by eighty percent of Hooper's targets but that's one hundred targets like. On Pace for one hundred, twenty targets, you get two hundred targets from Matt. Ryan and that offense. Yeah he's a top ten tied into that's going to be really good. Yeah. Ben. I was GONNA. Ask You for your favorite late round tight ends, but we're GONNA take a break when we come back with WHO slippers, breakouts and bustle start with Ben. there. And we haven't talked much about the mid round guys. Who last year were Oj Howard. Ingram Hunter Henry Eric Hebron Jared Cook David Who Vance McDonald. That ADP the year before that you the A ADP from two thousand, eighteen gronk Kelsey Earth's then Jimmy Graham Evans Ingram, Greg Olsen Delaney Walker, Kyle Rudolph Jordan. Reed Trey. Burton. A lot of Mrs. Probably better off waiting George Kill was a late round pick that you're. You're better off taking the first three yet that I, just. Absolutely. Although actually I think Gronkowski wasn't so good last year he was the number one and he finished as the eleventh best tight end in two thousand. Eighteen. So that was he was a bust actually. Kill Bridge Oh. Yeah Kelsey and Earth's were great. Kill was that year as well. We'll come right back with sleepers, breakouts and bus. "And the Ravens draft about twelve of them get out, so it'll be interesting. Yeah, I think I think it's really interesting position given how different thoughts. The offenses are for tight ends these days, you know, some some tight ends are sort of H backs and and receivers forgotten some tests, you know, some tens even still, you know are more run-blocking games than you know, or ask more of The Blocking game. It's yeah, it's it definitely depends on where you go, but another kid with a local connection that will be drafted. Next year off is Pat freyermuth out of Penn State. Yes from Merrimac, Massachusetts went to the brook school, which is in North Andover. I don't know if he'll come out next year if my home Captain as a sophomore at Penn State, you know, he's yeah, he's a mini-grant guy, isn't he? Yeah, but causing many girl. Yeah, which is a heck of a thing. Yeah. I know. He's definitely like he's going to be at the top of that class and there's like two or three guys next year. That might go in the first round. Yeah. Yeah, it'll be interesting fact. It's a it's a a weird class this year because at the combine you have all these like receiving tight ends, right like guys like price and Hopkins and the Brian Theron Harrison Bryant and none of those guys really ran that fast, you know in Alberto comes out of nowhere from Missouri and runs a 449 and everybody's like where the hell did that come from but walk-ins. He's like a mid for 6s guy in the Brian's Harrison Brian basically torpedoed is stock. He was the guy that a lot of people had very high on their diet and Boards pre-combine. He runs a four seven three months. It has poorly in the agility drills and all of a sudden he goes from this like great receiving Prospect maybe like a sixth or seventh round pick in one weekend the watching the 40 * watch the agility drills come out. It just was a lot of black it just no one really ran that fast. No one really tested that well and athletic profiles just were nowhere near as good as long you want to see at a guy's that don't really block that are being asked to be solely move pieces in receiving tight ends. And if you are receiving tight end that has an iffy athletic profile and even Stephen Sullivan one of your guys from LSU, he runs a four six 6:40 and you're like, okay that's moving pretty good. And then he runs like a 755 three-cone. Yeah absolutely tanks the three-cone in the short shuttle. And so it's like, okay. Well this guy can run pretty fast, but not really that fast like he's just a decent wage. Already time guy and he can't cut to save his life. Oh, it's it's it was a really underwhelming day for the tight ends at combine and it was disappointing to see how many pages bad kind of times people put up. I mean even a guy like Colby Parkinson, he ran 477 he adds to run faster than that to really move his Kilt. Yeah. Yeah dead. So, you know, yeah, I think you know, it's one of those deals where Finding that complete guys getting harder and harder..

"Kill for a number reasons I if you look at the two thousand eighteen AP all pro team, I I'd end Chavis Kelsey. Okay. That makes sense. Second tight end George kiddle. Are you kidding me? George kiddle set the yardage Mark for a tight ends all-time, right? Thirteen thirteen seventy seven. That's why are you angry about this, because I'm A Pat? man who's passionate about a tight ends. Right. I just don't. This is all about. The fact that Zakar it's got bone, right. He had thirteen hundred and seventy seven yards off eighty eight receptions and five touchdowns. Yeah, I'd open offense Zakar had eleven sixty three yards. But eight touchdowns and a hundred sixteen receptions, so less efficient in a playoff team. Sean George kiddle is objectively, one of the top three titans. You're completely disagree. Crazy. You look I've I went through. I watched George kiddle highlights look at the score. Look at those big plays that he was making it was when it was when the game was already out of hand, and he was getting a bunch of garbage yards. It was also because CJ beat hard was his quarterback. Have you seen UAB hard has no business being in the NFL? And if you have no business being in the NFL, who you're going to throw to you're gonna just throw it up to the guy, you played college football with that was why George Kittles numbers are so crazy high when Jimmy G gets back. George kindles knock to have a thousand yards. Okay. That's my prediction that was a crazy aberration. What check I run routes? He's a freak. He's super athletic. He's there. There's no way he's going to match that some similar productivity. I just don't sit you what do you, what do you predict? He's going to have. Yardage. I think he's going to be a part of that offense. Because I what else do they what where is the speed on that offense on the outside? Okay. That's decent point. But I'm saying I just think a lot of it got inflated because they were playing games that didn't matter. And maybe maybe they'll be in that position again this year I think they'll be a little bit more competitive than they were last year..

"Joe ends going backwards talking about side. Ends John, give me your number ten tight end. I feel like for number ten. You got to be thrown a bit of a I guess you're, you're going for it at this point. Right. You're taking a guy. I'm guessing and tight end is going to be going in, like, the, the later rounds. Probably, and that's and that's also begs the bigger question. Do you have a strategy when it comes the tight ends or do you just lump tight ends in the kind of pass catcher receiver thing? I think that's a mistake this year. Yeah. This year. I think I will most likely target Erz Kelsey Kittle that tier one, the thing is because you know a Yahoo league. Right. You have a tight end slot the slot. And you can only use it for tight end. I think a lot of people look past the tight end when really that could be your fourth receiver. Right. You have your two receivers. Then you have your slot house this where you ideally put in a pass catching running back or a good third of receiver position. The tight end is a secret fourth receiver slot that doesn't get used enough. And I think the big thing and obviously it depends on your league and a lot of leagues like the F FCC leagues. I'll be participating in. They allow to flexes where you can play additional. They have that point and a half per catch. If we're talk are we doing standard here? Yeah. Not that it really matters. But I agree with you. And I also think they're tight end is deeper than it's been the last couple years. The tight end position has been very deep. And but all that being said, I still think my strategy will be I will go, get Kelsey kit alerts early, especially in an F PC format. If I don't get one of those guys I feel like the next year is quite wide and. I'm not even trying to put out these awesome puns. And honestly, like I think for me the guy, I'm going to throw tenth. I've seen him in this realm. It's gonna be Vance McDonald. And I'll tell you why Sean. Upside. All right. Well don't we'll save it for the where you got him in your top ten. He's number ten oh going backwards. I was tossing it up now. Okay. Jump in. Well, I just it's Vance McDonald. And I think it's Big Ben will throw the tight end. It's not going to be sexy. I think Vance McDonald gives him something at the tight end position. He hasn't had much of he's got that speed. And again when you're talking about the temp tight, and you're you're you're talking about mid to late round. So I think you can definitely take a stab at a guy like this so many so many position I, I haven't some on my list. I have him higher. Oh, save him. I'll say my takes on him for when I get to him, that tie-down my slots house a slot. My number ten tight end for the New York football. Giants me Evan Ingram possibly occurred to see here, everything super tell to guy you think would benefit. Possibly more targets with the boat trip document Cleveland AK Odell Beckham junior. However, for me, there's two red flags that, that, that don't allow me to move him higher up on the list. Legitimate questions about quarterback. I mean. Have you not seen Daniel Jones? Yes, I have is. So big on his shoulder. There's legit questions a quarterback and injury plagued. And it wasn't just hey, he blew out an ACL he was out the entire season..
