"And I know you took my call. Thank you. I was, I was turned down by my current wife, only wife, life for life. Anyway, we had dated in college and I think about four years, three years into our relationship after she moved to an hour and a half away from where my house was, we were at a tigers game. In Detroit, the old Tiger stadium during the 7th inning and stretch. I looked at her and knew she was the one I knew when I laid eyes on her, but I had looked at her and decided and I asked her right then and there and she looked at me and said, no, you're drunk. And she was right. So she turned me down. What a romantic story. I gotta tell you, they should make a movie out of you. I ended up getting her father's permission the next time I decided to ask, first, and wait, wait, wait. I'm sorry. The chronology is confusing to me. She turned you down, said you were drunk, but she continued to see you. Oh, definitely. Right. Definitely would have said, yes, if I was sober, I see. You mean, there were no root wait a minute. There were no limits to beer at Tiger stadium. I don't believe there was back in 19 80, whatever it was. Oh, this is a long time ago. Oh. It's a long time ago. How old are you? What are you? 62. So, oh, so you were young. I was young. I was 24. Oh, okay. I got you. All right, so that worked out all right. I loved her response. No, you're drunk. Well, happily he did not do it on TV. She got it all playing out. Yeah, I can see it all right now. I wear my blessing back tight out in the back I'll do a strong shot of whisky straight out the flask I'll try to make it through without crying so nobody sees you she won't get mad. But she don't wanna marry me hi everybody male female Aaron Dennis prager show every Wednesday second hour. Did you ever propose marriage and get turned down or vice versa where you ever proposed to and turned it down? All right, let's see here. And. Susan Anderson, South Carolina, hello. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. I was proposed to three times by the same man and accepted on the third on his third attempt. Well, the guy from Oregon really needed lessons from your guy. I'm trying to understand. He's not two or three of his virtues either. He really pursued you. So let me, I want to know your internal workings in your mind. The first time he proposed why did you turn him down? Because we were just friends. We were not even in a romantic relationship at that point. He was one of my best Friends for 20 ish years before we crossed over to the romantic side. Wow. I think you've given me another subject. I'm serious. That is. That is fascinating. No, no, wait a minute. So wait, wait, how old are you? I will be 60 in April. Okay. That's very funny. It sounds like when I ask an 8 year old, I'll be 9 in April. Normally people of your age don't say without they will be 5 months from now. Okay. Get used to science. Oh yes, yes. Okay. So for all intents and purposes, you're 59. Okay. Correct. So let me understand something. You knew him like from when 25 to 45? When did the 19? So he proposed at 39. Probably earlier than that. And he's 20 years older than I am. Two, so. Mid 20s when he proposed. And he was in his mid 40s. Correct. Are you still together? Yes. How's his health? The old goat is he can keep up with just about anybody. The old goat. Oh my God. This call is priceless. So why was in his mind, if you had zero romantic meaning non physical intimacy correct? And you were platonically related for almost 20 years, didn't he realize it would shock you? And it did. And the first one I did not take him seriously. I thought that he was just kidding. And when I said, are you serious? He said, well, I've thought about it. Or something kind of generic like that. But we moved on. Well, why does it moved on me? Did you then become romantic? We became romantic in 2004. No, no, no. How long after proposal number one? I need to. Oh, I don't know. 15 years? A long time. I must admit I'm a little lost. He asked, wait, he asked you to marry him. You turned him down and then you were not romantic for another 15 years? Yeah, give or take. We both got married, both married. All.

"Good. It seems like these fan sites are there for a reason because people like to read good things about their team. I hate to ask her such a question like, is that a challenge to write a well balanced article? You know, it can be, but covering. And chip and I have a similar background in that. Right. It is. I'm from Baton Rouge. I went to LSU and you covered theme and people were like, oh, you must have been disappointed. No, actually, it's a good excruciating loss. There's a lot to write about. It really is, as a columnist, it was my job and the job that you had to for a long time. But I think LSU, people, this is my take. Maybe it's not different elsewhere, but people are so you worked in Louisiana. People are so wrapped up in our sports teams in the saints and LSU and Louisiana tech and the raging cajuns and stuff like that. We don't have mountains. We don't have nice beaches. We've got our sports in our politics and our festivals. And people have so much of their self worth wrapped up in these teams. And they want you to be tough on them sometimes. They get on you. On me, sometimes if I'm not tough enough on the tigers. That's the one thing. I mean, I walked out of Tiger stadium after a loss and I'll have the guy, the concession stand goes, hey, you ripped out of like, okay, man, I don't even work here. They're professional mentality down there, which if I ever have a sportswriting career again, which I won't. I'm coming to Louisiana. I think I could make it there. Yeah. Guys, what a pleasure. We could do this and we were going to continue. I feel like we don't devote enough time to this lost art of trying to objectively cover a college football team. "They've been doing a good job of keeping up with some of those bigger programs. Before you guys go at this point on a Friday afternoon, most of your Friends are getting ready to go out and party and the conversation will be the game tomorrow. Obviously. So I'll pose the question to both of you. Henry, what do you think? How does this game end up? It's similar to Florida. It's kind of a coin flip. All miss very, very potent offense with one of the best rushing attacks in the country. But they have had some, they have had their struggles. At the same time, there's a reason that they're 7 and now. And it's going to be a challenge. We also got a gift in that Kentucky game. You think I wish you can pull this out? I think it's going to be a really interesting. By the way, I'm asking you for a personal reason. I've got to predict this game tomorrow and I need some insight. I've actually, yeah, no, it's going to be like he said, it's going to be a coin flip. You know, obviously I'll miss a top ten team coming to Death Valley. I was listening on the last segment. We were talking about how almost is in a similar position to where they were in 2014, undefeated, coming into Death Valley where top 5 team. And that was LSU, you know, by a list you stand as kind of into down to year. But they came into a raucous environment in Tiger stadium, which I expect to see tomorrow. And LSU was able to get the win. So I think if LSU can continue down the momentum, especially offensively that they got against Florida, you know, behind the big crowd, it's a coin flip game, but I think LSU has become a slight favorite and I think they're a favorite for a reason. And I think we could very well see, unless you take them this game tomorrow. What's you guys? Peter and Henry, thank you very, very much to outstanding student reporters here with a daily reveille. We appreciate it. We always love to talk to student reporters. When we come back, the man who has helped transform this campus. The athletic director and the vice Chancellor Scott Woodward will join us right here. Hey there, I'm Julie foudy alongside lindell zowe from the podcast, laughter permitted. "When you said about. Anything right now. Gary Daniels. Garrett Daniels, because when you said I'd rather hear a jackhammer, my ear, the Gary Daniels, that is exactly the way I feel. I thought it was, I don't know. Him and Bern lindquist, everybody talk about burn was so great. I mean, you can go back and listen to so called game of the century when LSU and bam little plan burn was actively cheering for Bama during that game. If you go back and listen to the catch where it looks like Alabama had a catch at the one yard line and we picked it off and he's like, oh no. I mean, but I mean Gary James of every year, every game, he actively pulled anyway, just drives the fellowship fans crazy. So whenever he finally gets off the air from SEC games will be a good day, but anyway, I want to talk LSU. Sure. Yeah, a lot of these SEC west teams are pinning in LSU as a win. I mean, the entire SEC west and Tennessee and I will say not so fast, my friend, right? Because LSU is going to have an elite defense. All right, you can mark it down LSU will have an elite defense this year. All right. I know we've got some holes here and there, but we're going to do much better than a lot of people saying. I'm not willing to say, okay, I'm not kooky. I'm not going to say we're going to win the national championship. And. Dane is the transfer of Arizona and the state is going to win the Heisman. I'm not going that far. But I can easily see it going 8 four 9 three and pulling some upstairs because most of the games could be toss up games. I mean, everybody's got Alabama is one in pretty big, but an elite defense is a great equalizer and Tiger stadium is a great equalizer. You know, part of the CJ that I don't think and that's why the first game is so critical when we're talking to one of the coaches in the first game in a minute and Mike norvell. That's going to tell us a lot. And I know I try to avoid standardized cliches, but I don't know what to expect from LSU. I think they're going to be good. But last year was such a, bewildering year of good and bad and terrible and excellent. And that is hard to know. Hey, thank you for the call. We've already had one great coach on in David Shaw. We'll talk to norvell later on. We have pat 40 coming up in a minute and give us the latest on this Big Ten meteorites deal that has everybody in college football talking today. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. The Paul fine bomb show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three eastern.

"Around the bow and down the whole road tide roll. That sucker was full of all our wins. We get permanent ink right down all the victories. In the 2000s. Now AJ McCARRON in 2012, yes. We got the tallest seat prematurely when we were at getting ready to write down one up and sure enough I said, go get the tallest seat. I remember that one. Yeah, that was one of those. That's one of the, I'm not sure, and all the years I've been to Tiger stadium I've ever seen a disposition of a crowd change more yelling, yelled, yelled, and I think it was a yelled, and yet TJ yelled and ran for that touchdown. The only reason I remember it so well is he literally ran right past me on the sideline. A bit Larry was screaming that night in 2012, when Alabama pulled out a turned a sure loss to LSU into a victory which helped preserve a shot at a national championship, which they later won against Brian Kelly. Oh, yeah. You got that right. That was some good guys, man, going back. You know, looking back. I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to hit you with a curveball there about one of the most important games in modern Alabama history. You act like you didn't even remember. Well, I remember Paul, but after so many beers, they've become a little frog. I bet they do. And I would imagine because that game ended about 1130 at night, I would think that was one of your more heavily intoxicated evenings. Oh, yeah, that's one I could really knock them down. Now the boy, yeah, I was. Larry, just for just for old time's sake, we'll just imagine this is ESPN classics here from yesteryear. For a game like that in 2012, which in case you don't understand it was ten years ago, about how many would you have put away for by the time you got to the end of the Alabama LSU game in Tiger stadium? 35. 35, 38. We're talking bud lights. Are we talking 12, 16 ounce? Yeah, little quail out. Yeah, at least 35. Yeah, I think that I'll have 5 or ten for the game. That ain't nothing. You ain't

"But what do you think? You know the personality and you know the schedule. You know, I think Elle shoes got a chance, you know, they start with Florida state in the Superdome. They get some open up with some softer games, including a southern across town rival playing LG for the first time. So Tiger stadium, I think, will be full with LGN southern fans. And southern will win the battle of the bands. They're pretty good at that. They're really good at that. And then they get misstated home, which I think is a game. They'll be favored, and I think they probably should win a disrespect to state. Go to Aubrey week 5, what's auburn going to be like? Is that a program on no idea? Yeah, they're always the wild card, right? I remember the game a few years ago there. It was like talking to someone before the game, the loser of this game is probably getting fired. Yeah, Gus or less. And it was accurate. Yeah, it absolutely was. So I think they have a chance if they can start 5 O, they have a chance to a pretty good record. I think it tops out at 9 and three or something like that. I think that'd be really good. I see a lot of the predictions say 6 wins again. I think they'll do better than that. I think the defensive line will be better. They have playmakers on offense. They just have to have a healthy season of education on Bhutan, who won't miss half of last year, but still led the team in touchdown receptions. Obviously, after identify the right quarterback, got to be better than the secondary. But I think Kelly's, I think Kelly's is a good coach and tactician and I think you'll get more than just the minimum amount of them which would be to go 500. We will hold you to that Scott. You know how important these predictions are at the end of June. But then we picked middle of the pack of the division. But I think I don't know whether it's outside my shoe, but it seems like the optimism is higher than you would expect after a completely disastrous season, but it was a disaster a season. In LSU, one game they shouldn't have, and nearly ran Alabama. So you just don't know. No, you don't and they're still talent there. What Alabama and Georgia have right now knows what is what else you had just a few years ago no, but there's still a town to put the scare into some people and win some games. Scott rabble. Thank you, Scott. We'll let you get back to it was a pleasure. Thank you for having me.

"Dude, no, for sure. I think that and I don't know how involved your guys coach was at LSU, but my coach, and I love him, Monica Gil, nice guy, but not a golfer. He would recruit. He would just look at the sheet. These are the best players, whatever. And we were treated more. I got way better in college. We were treated more as pros. You know what I mean? There was some structure. Don't be late. Basically, I was about it. If you need a swing coach, because you think you suck, here's Dana ballinger a good coach, other than that, qualifying that discourse see you later. I'll get you there on time. And then some guys are like, work out 5 a.m.. We're going to eat this. We're staying here. We're going to do a team practice, but I guess it just depends where you go and what kind of person you are. I feel like we had a lot of structure at LSU. Jack bag of putting chipping wedge work, which some of us needed. We needed somebody to get us to do things every single day. I know Pete needed to do it on three footers. That's his qualifier, just like a hundred, three footers in a row. Dude, I would not even remember this SK, like I would skip, I would skip practice rounds and just go putt. Like y'all would be four guys playing a practice round and I'd be able to put a degree the whole time. Chuck, check me like you don't need to see the course. You just need to put. I mean, it's not gonna help, but I'll do it anyway. We only played, I think. One or two events together like in the lineup because I was in and out. I didn't really play, but a couple of events to fall, that freshman year. And then I think one of them that you were going to play. And you were excused as a no, I got arrested. I got arrested. I got arrested for public intoxication. Let that stand on the record. And somehow we got out of that situation. But I was suspended, yes, for the colonial Ohio. I was just saying I was an innocent. I was a witness to the whole scene. Honestly, you were in the you were in the right. Okay, well tell me what happened then, because I don't remember it at all. Well, all right, so you had a couple of man sodas, if you will. And where were we? Where were we? The Tiger stadium. We're always on the front row that's Tiger stadium student section. We held that down pretty well. And they always, there was a couple sheriffs that always wanted the traffic of just people going up and down the stairs to stay off the fence. They just needed a walkway, basically. And Peterson had just gotten back from getting some nachos, the concession stand before the game..

And the guy came up to Pete and told him, hey, you need to get off the fence. And he's like, no, I'm good. "Has it is amazing scarlet I'm still picturing the rabbit ears with the aluminum foil on top I think it's so exciting the way that they can make the game come alive and give you a bird's eye perspective the insider look at the way that the athlete is taking the field or seeing the course it's like a video game come to life which is kind of what I was thinking the entire time she was describing it Of course lynchi when it comes to actually attending the games you get something else entirely right You can get an upgrade within seconds on your phone as opposed to hoping that the usher turns away so that you can run down to the seat Well this program is called dibs dibs And I love that I just love this because we've all done this We either get the cheapest sicken you can get And then you sort of scouting around the first two innings or if it's a basketball game the first quarter if nobody shows up in those seats you go down with butterflies in your stomach but you have to walk in like you belong there and you sit down And there's always the fear of every time an usher came down the aisle Oh here it is I'm getting booted out Well now within a minute you can get a text message and say hey I got three in the row number four by the brave StuG out Come on down And you can sit there the rest of the game and the butterflies are gone and you can sit there like this is mine Yeah absolutely Well lynch Upgrade during the game I don't know what you're talking about I've never done that before in my life at the old Tiger stadium at Michigan and trumbull I don't know what you're talking about Scott I don't know what the man's talking about.

"Talk about being a fan and SEC fan. Three best trips I would say, the most chips were Jacksonville, Florida, being in bound house. Sure. Jacksonville game happens back and forth with my best. Three trips the longest trips was the Baton Rouge Vince duly Mark Rick and Kirby smart. Three coaches at Latin root. That's pretty pretty different. So anyway, you're not going to get this at the most vote. I've been there a couple of times. I mean, it's a nice setting, but the stadium, I think, and maybe they've redone it since I've been there last a couple of years ago, but to me, it's just, it's a decrepit place, and. I don't know. I never, I've never been, I think it's a beautiful area, but I'll take Sanford stadium any day. Yep, my sister went to the rose bowl a couple of years ago with Georgia, but come back with anything spectacular. But you don't see this at the rose bowl as a walked up to the stadium when Mark Rick was going in there and that jump still go hit the upright and the first half that's never a good sign. And they lost by a couple points. But as I walked up there and I'm in my 40s and so these girls in their Georgia dresses and the guys headed jerseys hats on them. I said, hey, y'all want to do a cheer here, yeah? Is that why we got like 50 people we walked up to the interests of tigers stadium going in and they all look at that me and I'm going, well, I thought y'all could do it a chair. That is funny. And they all fold on that Georgia book. So you know the rest of it. You lean over by when you jump out of the building, how about dogs everybody goes? But you're not going to see 50 and I got to see 50 bands outside of doing that. Yeah, absolutely not. But anyway, I want you to talk about the three. I've always, I've always felt and I've said this many times. I've always thought Georgia stadium was one of the most idyllic I've ever ever been to. I think I used to like new and a little bit more when you could, before they enclose the camera, which end zone is it, where you could look into the mountains. I think they've heard, I think they've hurt that stadium by putting more seats there. That was one of the coolest things in the world in the fall. When you could peer out over. But one comment. Sure. I was at the game in 73 when you had to open in and we were in the bleachers. We went there was a sell out. We had no tickets. I don't know how we got in. But here's the other thing. We drove back to Gatlinburg to get the Stone Mountain Georgia. Right. That is part of the experience. You go ahead. You talk. No, no, I agree. I stayed in Gatlinburg one time and I'll never do it again. It was just too many people. For a Tennessee Alabama game, but we were just diving back to get the beauty of the mountains going back to Georgia. When you go ahead and talk about it. No, I'm trying to think because. We're talking just pure beauty. We're not talking about I mean, obviously Tiger stadium on a Saturday night is a stand-alone place, but I'm not sure the beauty of it compares to Athens. Our needless stadium. Yeah, we're new. Yeah, I mean, to me, and nothing to do with I mean, I think auburn can be very very cool place. I was gonna bring up. Yeah, I think it's very unique. The atmosphere there, I think, is really, it's definitely in consideration because of the and anytime you say something, people take it the wrong way. Every stadium in the SEC has great pat well. 11, so let's see, 13 of the 14 have great passion. But. Yeah, I'm going to stay with the Georgia Florida game. I'm somewhat new to it. I've been there the last 6 or 7. But I was amazed at that atmosphere too. I mean, it's not the prettiest place I've ever been. Nope. In the 70s, they had a chain link fence at that stadium in Jacksonville. You had to have Georgia tickets, get on Georgia side, you had to take on the Florida side, because all the drinking and fighting. Wow. That's amazing. Light in the center of the goal in the end zones. So it's not that no, there's not that no. But I mean, to me, again, most of the time, we were there. We're in a parking lot, so it's not exactly ideal, but those are really, that's how I feel. Well, thank you so much, Alan. It's great to hear from you. You take care of you. You're a great facilitator. Well, I appreciate you saying that. Let's talk again soon. Mel is up next. Hey, mail. Hey, Paul. Happy to good afternoon. You were talking to I think it was the guy from Mississippi. About all the great music to come out of Memphis. Right. And I agree, I was there a few years ago and had the pleasure of touring the stacks record studio. But question for you, you mentioned him Booker T and EMGs. Do you know what MG stood for? I always thought it was I'm sure I'm going to get this wrong Memphis group. Memphis grooves. Memphis groove. Okay. I knew, okay. I knew it was Memphis something. I didn't know what it was. That's interesting. Yeah, the Memphis crews and they were outstanding, of course, but what I want to talk to you really about was Brandon Marcello and talking about Texas a and M I want to ask you a few questions if you agree with. Sure. Alabama and last ten years has had top one.

"How did you know they're going to get a reaction? I don't know. But I'm curious, I'm curious about that because I don't think your career ever took you out here for a game. But you played in enough difficult places. Explain to those of us who sit around with our feet up eating popcorn during the game. What that 12th man means there are different names for it in other stadiums and Tiger stadium or auburn or wherever you play, but how difficult is that when you're the quarterback of the other team? Well, there's so many little nuances in the game that change. One of them just being the cadence. You go from being able to use a vocal cadence to being able to use silence, which just slows down some of your motions and some of your changes. It changes your ability to communicate, maybe change the play at the line of scrim with your offensive line communicate with your receivers. And if it's not just quite clear and practice and prepared, then you might have a few false starts. You might not be on the same page. There's been several games this year where the away team, you know, they're quarterbacks looking at the receiver saying, oh, it's because they couldn't communicate. And then you have the penalties from that. And I think probably the biggest thing is the momentum. You know what a and M did so special here a few weeks ago is they built a momentum behind them and that 12th man it's helped to propel them in the finishing moments of the game. That wasn't the same team that played Arkansas. It wasn't the same team that played Mississippi state. It was a different. It was a different team. And you know, I think you could even see Zach calzadas confidence. Change within the game. And, you know, when you have a crowd, when you have support, it really does change the way you can prepare. And that's why if you're the opposing team, that's where mental toughness comes into play. It's one of the things that Nick Saban has been so good at for so long is building mental toughness in his players that I can't fully block out all the noise, but I can do it just enough to focus on my job. As the game goes on and you're having to adjust. Is there a mental wear and tear to the quarterback from first quarter to fourth quarter when you're really you're fighting the crowd the entire game. You are. I think there's a there can be a mental fatigue. I think for some of the really good ones, I think they're just locked in. And they're not flinching. They're not paying attention to the noise around. You got better. I love the opposing fans. I love the hate. I almost like I almost like, yeah, I want it louder. That's why in LSU, I would always go to them and come on, you know? Cheer louder. But it was also, you know, like think about LSU. We would get off the bus and they would pour beer all over you. You would walk in and you'd have three generations of family members standing side by side, every single one of them saying something I can't repeat to you, you know? And that's two hours before the game. And you hear it throughout the pregame and then into the game and then by the end of the game and for me, I was I didn't want to shy away from it. I went to embrace it, you know? And I think that's one of the fun things about the SEC. It doesn't matter what stadium you go to is sort of I guess sort of excluding Vanderbilt. That is going to be pretty crazy. Whatever stadium you go to. Before you wrap up, I want to ask you about the rankings because there was so much reaction this week Cincinnati go home, little guy has no chance, all these things that almost were predictable, but I haven't had a chance to get your reaction to especially Cincinnati. Yeah. I didn't really mind them too much. I mean, what's the better solution? You know, I hear people complain, but I don't want to be a complainer. I want to be someone that brings a solution or a better option. And so I hear a lot of people complaining, but okay, then what's the right top ten? You know, where should Cincinnati be? And I also think it's really hard based on the definitions that we're working with. I think that's something that college football should really think about is coming up with clear definitions of exactly what you're looking for because this committee is a little bit different. You could tell they really made head to head, a big deal. Other committees haven't done that. So it changes and that's a little unique. It's kind of hard to understand, right? And so are you going to weigh a schedule or are you going to weigh a record? Which one's more important? We've seen that change year to year. And so obviously, there weighing the eye test more than just a record. So they're saying Alabama, even though you have a loss, we're still going to view you because of the eye test as the number two team. And Cincinnati, even though you're undefeated, the eye test, you know, we're putting you at 6. And so I think it's really interesting, but I would love to see college football even define it just a little bit more. Tim Tebow, joining us, he is announced he's running for mayor of a College Station and Brian after some of the comments here. I think you might win. I don't know about that. There are places you're more unpopular than you're in the league. That's terrorizing stadiums. Tim Tebow, thank you very much. Joining us. And we will take a break..

"They can get off the field last year they couldn't stop anybody consistently. And there could be a big test. I mean, we had to test the more, and I know Kirby doesn't want me. We got to get through this game and Florida's very capable team. I mean, you know, going down the swap, they got, I mean, excuse me to Tiger stadium. They got a big advantage. When you could play there at 11 o'clock instead of 8 o'clock, I mean, there's a lot of juice goes in between 8 and 11 and I've been into that stadium about 5 30 at night and you go in there and all those people are moaning you and giving you the finger and all of them. It's pretty tough. So, you know, they're going to their backs are against the wall. They got to make something happen to me. And they're going to throw caution to the wind and their team too. This had a lot of injuries. I mean, you know, and by the way, I don't know anything other than what they say, but it is interesting though coach about LSU with things not going well all of a sudden some of their biggest stars are right. They plan without bouting. They have two corners. And then, you know, just like their left tackle starting for Kentucky this year. I mean, those are kind of things that add up for you and transfer portal is huge. I think going in from here on, it's going to be a big part of everybody's program. And for us, we got a really good corner in getting the kid from clips and coming in here. And then we had two other transfers. It hadn't had a chance to play at all. Gilbert and Smith, unfortunately, Smith got hurt this week, but transferred portals big. Final thought on Kirby smart. I know how you were as coach. He's been a close friend of yours and somebody that you lean on a lot. Yeah, here's the thing about Kirby that I really feel like that's good. He surrounds himself with good coaches. He's able to bring in will must champion has really been a great addition to it. But the thing about it in Spain is 6 years. You're looking at facilities that they've built here. Along with our athletic director and certainly doctor moorhead, they've been very supportive. Josh Brooks our new athlete director. But the thing about Kirby is give them a chance to get his guys in here. That's what he's done. You know, fortunately, that first year we didn't do that great, unfortunately, but second, you're close. But I think it's pretty much the signals being sent all across the nation. This football team's here and there recruiting is just lights out. And I'm telling you, I got some guys coming in here tomorrow that are visiting that I would like to decide this don't even go in there and visit. Just put your uniform on come out and play for us tomorrow. I mean, I say this every time I'm here, but when you spend some time on this campus, it's hard to understand how you can say no. This is an incredible place to.

"And they're so well coached coach. Stoops doesn't get enough credit. He their defense. They make very few mistakes. They play extremely hard. They run the football. They create turnovers. And now i really think this liam cohen good job as a no see. The last week was a bit of a struggle. But can he can. He designed some things to maybe put todd grantham and florida's defense on their heels. Get this thing in the fourth quarter and you never know crazy. Things have happened in this game. Speaking of crazy no places crazier you experience than than tiger stadium. I mean it's one thing to play there three thirty in the afternoon. Maybe a six o'clock start. This is an eight o'clock local. Nine o'clock eastern. I mean you can't start a college game later than that in the place to play. Why everything because when you pull up the fans are pushing your bus when you get out of the bus. They're pouring beer on you. When you walk into the stadium you have three generation side by side. That are all saying stuff. I can't repeat to you. And then the game starts in their loud and then the band plays done on and everybody freaks out and it's loud in the stadiums very close to you and they just they build on that momentum in ls it's been proven lsu is better at home at night. That's when less miles kept saying this is where opposing dreams come to die. It's a tough place to play. Since two thousand auburn has had to perfect seasons and played for the national championship and they still have in one time period great stat in baton rouge now. I mean even in the championship even in the year. That gus malzahn play for the title they lost. Lsu yeah lsu is not what they want but they're still very good team this year right but playing at home they know what a big game this is. And i think it's really interesting because you look at these two teams and they're very similar positions. Right they're trying to figure out the coaching staff. You know that identity. They're going to have on offense and defense. And just you hear the rumblings. Aubrey gets rid of a coach. Lsu's kind of figuring out what they wanna do and then the quarterback situation yeah. I'm john kind of the guy but he struggled a little bit. And then you have the quarterback situation at auburn's kind of up in the air. Both teams have athletic defenses. But i haven't really been successful so far this year. So there's a lot of question marks in this game you know it's gonna be kind of interesting say who can kind of answer that i mean i know how well you know bo nixon Know it seems like he's been there forever and and now he's a peculiar spot He may start he may not But clearly the fans have they moved on. How does that affect your not that. Why i think he's in a really tough tough place. And i think you have to be very mentally tough to let that not affect you. I've heard that he might get the start but they're probably going to get tj in their early as well. And i think they probably should. He brought life to them last week. And just start matter. Seems like it does us but it doesn't seem like to a game. Maybe it's it's i think it's probably the safest as staff if you start bow. And then you bring tj in because if you start tj and you bring you might hurt. Tj's confidence a little bit. I think you gotta play into that. Quarterbacks are fragile. Sometimes you gotta play into that confidence but we make a big quarterback situation and we should most important position in the sport maybe in any sport but also gotta get help got to be able to run the ball more effective their receivers have to get help from the tied in. It's not just one question. Mark for auburn..

"Many of you out there and certainly for bucket i we get so fired. Up at the constant derogation denigration attacks that are leveled up on the united states. I mean when you hear that man's voice you have to recognize that we are and have always been the greatest hope for freedom in all of human history and the fact that the biden administration could bungle this for tens of thousands of people. Just like that translator. You heard talking to us is just disgraceful in disgusting at an elementary level. They fundamentally fundamentally broken in many ways. The compact of american excellence by their futility. It's it it's just it's infuriating. I'm i'm hopeful that we'll at least get some good news in the days ahead. Hopefully i mean i i i just like i said with what was the congressman of a call. Where he's saying that he's he feels like there's no way we're gonna get all the americans out and if we're not getting all the americans out clay. I think it's very clear. We're also not going to get out all the afghans thereafter fans who just want to get out of the country because they hit the taliban. I'm sympathetic to them. But that's not the same thing as an afghan who worked with our military and was risk. Their lives risk their lives. Their families lives and was promised that when the time came they would get out. And we're not getting all the americans out. We're not getting all of them out. Yes that's for sure so now just a question of how bad it's going to be folks This is this is not going to be a story with an ending. That america is proud of it all. That's that's what i see coming here. We'll continue to follow it. And i i would be overjoyed. If on the you know the first week of september the first day we do the show You know in the middle of next week. I can say wow clay biden really got it together and surprised me. They actually were able to mount up and get this done. I will eating my words on. This won't be fantastic. I think the chances of that are very slim. I think you and i both know that. We are rolling through the tuesday edition of the program. And are a bunch of things we can still get into. But i'm actually curious. I want to go ahead and x. out the phones because i want to request a specific caller. I don't know how many of you have been paying attention to this. But i only want people in new orleans or in the state of louisiana. Call in right now and you're going to understand what i mean once. You hear this next story. So last night balkan. I know you're not a wild football fan. But they had a monday night. Football game in new orleans. The new orleans saints were playing against the jacksonville jaguars and in order to get into the superdome. Now where the saints play you either have to have a kovic vaccine aka kovic vaccine passport or you have to have a negative test. That's been taken in the last three days or and this was even wilder vaccine clinic. Bach set up where if you got vaccinated you could then go into the stadium now. This defies all logic as it pertains to the vaccine because you might already have covert and your vaccine doesn't start working the minute that you get popped into your arm so this doesn't really make any sense but that's what they were doing to try to encourage people to get vaccinated but it's just about getting you to do it right. That's what they're trying to coach. They are co worse in compliance. And so it's not about the science. Yes and so now right before we came on the air. Lsu the major university in the state of louisiana has announced that everybody going to tiger stadium. This one hundred thousand seat stadium in baton rouge louisiana. It's a fabulous place to go. Watch a college football game in order to enter you will either have to be vaccinated or you will have to have a negative kovin test buck for all people ages twelve and up so this is the vast majority of people that would be going into the stadium either visiting fans or woke oh fans in louisiana and so my question is how many people out there who are lsu or new orleans saints fans are willing to change your opinion on co vid in order to go to a game and door. How many of you have tickets and are now not gonna go because buck remember. They sold all the season tickets. This year predicated on the idea. We're going to have a full stadium. There's not going to be any vaccine requirement. And then the week before the season starts they drop this on everybody. They gave a few days notice before my brother's wedding that some of the venues and some of the places involved were and they did check vaccine passports and id's there's there's as everyone knows he's had a wedding thousands and thousands of dollars involved. I mean this is expensive and you know you gotta get the venue and the permits and everything else and there was. There was no consideration given whatsoever. It was sorry this is our new rule. The city wasn't demanding enforcement. Until i think it's september thirteenth but they decided to go with it anyway and get an get ahead of it because there are people for whom they just think anything that they can do. No matter how annoying arbitrary or useless it is as long as it falls under this general rubric of fao shiite mitigation. As long as it falls into this bucket of we're fighting the virus they'll go with it. And the fact that i mean i gotta assume clay a lot of people that would want to go to. The nfl. Games are college football games. Who aren't vaccinated. Don't wanna get vaccinated. And now something that matters a whole heck of a lot to them may be taken away from them because as the blasios says carrots and sticks and this is one of the sticks that the democrat politicians are gonna whack you in the face with everybody and it's also expensive to go get those negative cova test mind you. There are hundreds of thousands of people who are gonna show up and tailgate outside the stadium. Right i mean massive crowds of people. It's not as if they're stopping the spread of virus in fact there are only impacting it for three hours inside of the stadium but outside packed tailgates packed bars. Everything else that still go. So i only want to hear from people from louisiana. Lsu fans as well as fans of the new orleans saints if you have tickets. What are your thoughts on this. Because i think this is a big battleground that is coming. Sec in nfl fans pretty well book. And they're not going to take very kindly to this requires. Is there anything that you think could be coming where you say alright. I might have to get the shot. Clay even though you've had covy. Is there anything where you you know. Is there something where you think it would be. Finally if you fly on planes which shows it. I think that is the requirement where i would say. Okay maybe i have to get the vaccine. Even though i've already had covert and there's no benefit in fact it could be detrimental according to some studies to cop combine the vaccine with natural immunity. We've got that and bide in in minutes. Supposed to be making remarks on afghanistan so we may be bringing you live in real time here. What president biden has to say about the slow moving train wreck that is the afghanistan withdrawal. It's already off the tracks. It's running off into the woods engines coming apart. The seems like a hassle but then brings in history like the fans the whole thing. The nostalgia knowing that that you're going to be in that building one day he leaves you. Hope your if you're talking about cooperstown the hall of fame. So i thought it was really cool. I always said like i. I would love it. If old tiger stadium crossley field the polo grounds. You know the old iconic ballpark still around. Yeah then even though the not even the astrodome. Let's say it's not us but you could get it ready in two weeks for ball hours. They could say some of these other things. Get it ready. i would play a game. They're exactly that's why wouldn't it be great. If all the sudden the polo grounds had the yankees and the red sox player like or crossley feel. You know what. I'm saying like tiger stadium right where it's like still there but we haven't toured down grass weeded. Did a little bit. But it's going to be fine. Would it be. And i was thinking about jack murphy stadium where i drove by up when i was out there. And it's like there's there's the half the stadiums gone part. It's like what a bummer. And that's not even as iconic as saw some great moments but that's not old tiger stadium or closley field or the polo grounds. I think wouldn't it be awesome. If you had one of those or so you could do a series of those historic ballparks. Now we got wrigley. And fenway playing those every day so i thought that'd be pretty cool old school ballparks cleaned up for it and had it could be it. Would it would be a blast of the astrodome. Could house one game. I think it'd be really cool. It would be. I don't have a ton of immersion from there. But i do remember going to some games. They're like to me. That'd be a very nostalgic cool right and you come back with a guy. You know with cesar sedan. You're some thrown out the first pitch. You know what i'm saying. "Certainly one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the day tomorrow night in Baton Rouge between South Carolina and Lsu. Castaneda joining us from down there Quin. Thank you very very much. Appreciate the time, and it looks like a weather. Is An issue for what's going on down there right now? Well, just for the moment I'm across the street Tiger Stadium's to my left in their facility straight across the street I'm about to record up and advancer for tomorrow and had a little lightening. got. Dark severe winds and pouring but you can see the nicer weather up on the horizon. So things should be back to normal about ten minutes. We'll good because. That is a place that doesn't need Louisiana does not need any more bad weather. Quinn let's talk a little bit before we get to the game just about your job this year it's different I'm sure. A lot of zoom calls a lot of unusual situations caused by the pandemic. How would you describe the the obvious difference between this and every other year you've been on the sidelines for ESPN and ABC. Well, it's taken a lot of the fun out of it taken a lot of the things that I enjoyed get on campus to meet with the coaches to talk to the strength coaches just to get a vibe for how that team's doing and you learn so much whether it's Roman down the hallway and talking to a tight ends coach or bumping into a recruiting intern about video, they just paint so so that. Part of my investigation is is far less exciting. This year there's no social aspects in terms of our TV crew, our TV team so it's just zooms and when I'm on the road I'm the only one here are our broadcast crew will will broadcast this from Bristol. I'm the only one here. So I kind of treat this like I'm a spy, I don't touch anything I talked to strangers and I couldn't. quit. There's always a challenge on the sidelines especially. When there is weather but is it any or how different is it i? Guess I'm trying to ask dealing with the crew. Fifteen hundred miles away or maybe longer or farther right upstairs nothing you can see them but you at least know that they were seeing the same thing you're seeing. Yeah there's a little bit of a time delay in the audio so it can be anywhere from two seconds four seconds. So I've been on a crew with Jason Bonetti and Rod Gilmore. The last couple years Mike spent hot the whole game this year I've changed crews almost every week, and because we're doing it remotely. They can't have my mic on because we'd be talking over each other. So we do it old school and I'll talk to the producer I talked back and say, Hey, after the third down, play I wanNA talk about upon her coming out for hey, if they make a first down here I want to talk about how they're tight ends doing a great job so. Do it old school and go through the go through the producer in the in the remote truck. In order in order to get on air whereas in the past I could just talk and we were seamless. Clean on the sidelines I mean to say the least there are restrictions what are they and how much do you have to tiptoe around? It's really not bad. I mean we won I. Did a game not they actually made me call the game from the stands in the front row was good seat but I really couldn't get a feel for what was going on on the benches since then they've just widened appalled widen areas it's actually easier now because there's less hangers on, there's less alums, there's less NFL scouts until the sidelines are vacant and it makes my job a lot easier. I also feel pretty secure in that the players and coaches have all been tested recently as recently as Friday or Saturday morning. So I, feel good in that regard So it's actually almost easier less fans less crowds more space. Speaking of testing. How often do you have to be tested? we test once a week it's either an ad home test, and then you mail it in test results come back in about thirty six hours or it's an onsite tasks on a Thursday afternoon then you quarantine. And then Friday, they released you so so far knock on wood six for six negative tests. That would be Kinda. Nerve wracking you show up at a game and you have to sweat it out and you hope you don't get a a Nick Sabin positive. Let's talk about the game because. It's a really interesting game. Let's start with South Carolina just your. As I know you do gather as much information as you can you probably would like to. Be Able to gather more in person but. Your impressions of what you've seen to them and and what you expect. Well they beat Auburn as you know, and they got the three turnovers and converted those in touchdowns. My issue was South Carolina's they're operating an offense with very limited downfield wide receiver threats shy Smith is a natural slot receiver. Colin Hill is is working Mike, Lobos offense efficiently and their offensive line in running backs or carrying the day. Okay. That's with this team is I'm not sure they're ever going to be a high scoring team defensively they're really good corners who can shut you down they add to the box so. I think South Carolina given that Lsu has a freshman quarterback. I'm leaning towards them having some success defensively in this ball game. So I kinda like Carolina's ability to negate lsu with a freshman quarterback but Carolina's physical they're tough. They're not nothing flashy about him and I think big plays are hard for them I. Think they have to manufacture find ways to manufacturer big plays but I think this team is definitely moving in the right direction I. Think they've improved each week. And the other side of that you alluded to the quarterback situation team that has struggled mightily on defense quarterback play has been pretty good I. Know I know it's impossible to gauge because we don't really have a lot of information but. What have you what have you been able to learn about where they are right now? Yet, teach gets the start a freshman Ponchatoula high school. He's gigantic six, six, two, hundred and forty two pounds nets down from to sixty s a big toll righty and you watch his high school tapes just drops in the pocket and he conflict the ball and it goes forty yards without him even trying he seems like he's calm. He's Louisiana product of this dream for him the ADRENALIN will be running. Also expect to see, Max? Johnson. The son of NFL, quarterback Brad Johnson a lefty also tall but more of a dual threat and when you think about calling the game around a freshman quarterback making his first start, you know any kind of run game would be beneficial and to put the quarterback in successful positions. Early in the game, get him hit but but get a couple first downs give him some easy throws and I think that'll be on the mind of lsu going to be a little more conservative game plan I'd. Imagine. You know he's got targets downfield terrace Marshall their running game I thought was anemic Missouri game that was the most disappointing part of the game in my eyes Missouri was without three defensive tackles in that game and Lsu had no running game whatsoever good news for the Tigers to get Ed Ingram back at left guard. But this is an offense through the air with Miles Brennan that's been outstanding. But now you've got a new freshman quarterback. So expectations drop again, I'm seeing a little bit more of a lower scoring game here. In Clinton's you've seen them. The. Biggest used on defense. Would give. Horrible And coach today sentence embarrassing. Alignment. Very, often they're they're moving at a snap making checks that is when the coverage changes on the fly because of emotion because of formation change that has been a dismal day of given up big play after big play against Mississippi State, it was more catching and run the air raid defense was was atrocious quite honestly continued to play man defense got shredded by crossing patterns but I was at the Mizzou game and That game was defined by busts. I mean just blatant bus where I got him. No you got to I got you got him guys wide open touchdown in the running game. Their linebackers are not playing physical. They're not playing north not playing north. They're not getting to the line of scrimmage and engaging blockers to waiting for runners they're missing tackles remember the tyler beatty runs Missouri fiscally untouched broke attack Lens. Gone So. Those are the headlines here new quarterbacks for Lsu and a defense that has had no answers.

Vanderbilt-Missouri is the first SEC game postponed due to COVID-19

"We welcome you back. Our is live and underway busy busy I our. Thirty minutes ago we learned that the first SEC game has been postponed of this twenty twenty campaign it will be. Rescheduled Vanderbilt Missouri scheduled for this Saturday in Columbia. Now, be December twelfth. We'll talk to coach drink in thirty minutes and get his reaction to that. So here we go more phone calls in a minute a lot of fans unhappy from every aspect of the winners and losers speaking of the latter. Let's talk about the Lsu Tigers two weeks ago Scott Rabble a came on. Wasn't ready to hit the panic button. Everything was calm. Scott's gotcha very scopes. Scott Seen It all before. Scott. Have you seen anything quite like the ending of Saturday's game? Good afternoon how are you? and got to the NFL Yeah that's that's you mentioned I'm kind of reminded of the and it's not a good time Lsu that ninety nine, Game Alabama when just food he tried to run the ball down like. John elway. Pin Wheeled in the air came up a yard short and and they you know they they threw the ball and the they did it. They didn't score. So yeah, it was. It was reminds me of you not good times for Lsu but you know. I gotta say the way lsu played Saturday. On defense but also on offense failing to convert a third down there really is kind of justice. They didn't really deserve to win that game I, mean they they you know they pulled it out and they would've pulled it out there. It would have been a win that covered up a lot of a lot of issues. So what? I don't know if it's safe to go outside I. Mean I know I know the version fortunately escaped the worst of the storm the other day was farther to the West but I mean what? What what is the buzz in your town especially both Pallini and and I mean three games in he seems like he's on the tip of everyone's tongue is it fair? Oh. Sure? Yeah. Absolutely. I mean this is the this is the defense that You know this change Dave Randall left defensor longtime defensive coordinator WHO's hard under? Les. Miles. You know the several years ago he left me the head coach at Baylor. So they had to hire someone like forced out or anything. So hopefully knew who was here under miles and those first three great years in the Mouse Oh, five Oh, six Oh, seven the end up with a national championship and you know just it hasn't worked at me. This questions is Bo behind the Times is not adjusted to those are some great defensive back then with Clinton Dorsey and Tyson Jackson and and you know you're a great players like that got a little on Landry secondary great players like that, and you kind of wonder you know the Adjusting but. It's just been Y- coaches you're on himself is trying to put it all on him and the coaches and they got a coach better. You said that, Saturday, after the game you set it on his press conference today, they just lost followed. They're they're good players on the Stevens, their high NFL draft pick on the defense Derek Stanley Jacoby Stevens to real cox the transfer for. North. Dakota. State people said he might have been a first round draft pick. Had He come? Out and said of transferring Ali Gay Defensive End they lost a lot of great players, but this shouldn't be this bad and aurons You know famously said, then the all season, the defense look better in practice than at any time last year, and obviously that is not the case and they gave up eight plays a twenty yards of more. Missouri averaged almost nine yards per play and five and a half yards per carry it and it just that's just not. That's just not winning football and worst of all they all she just looked. I saw gene gene Chizik said after the game. So you. Look, like on Defense Soft and lost, and Lsu looks like both unfortunately for them. By, the way everything you just got through saying you could replicate for three or four other SEC schools except none of them are the defending champions like Lsu. Scott we're three games in I. Mean we all know that and I'm not sure how much you can value. A. Win Over Vanderbilt Right now considering the state of that program. But as you look ahead I, mean you don't look any farther than this weekend against Florida. LSU will need to score seventy points to keep up with them. Immediate? Looks. That way and I'm not a betting Guy Pa, my government I think I've looked at the over maybe go for that Florida's defense looks pretty challenge to Alabama wins and gives up forty eight points to stole miss. But the the disturbing serving big frail issue. Yeah. Everyone's having trouble defensively No question. Do you wonder if that lack of spring football or the proper time to prepare in the off season has hurt them But you know you look at that once you give six, hundred, twenty, three guys and the Mississippi State, history has been dreadful offense against Arkansas and Kentucky the last two weeks Missouri scored like I think three touchdowns combined the first Games averaging like fifteen points a game against Alabama Tennessee and it just go wild lsu just look great. I mean that's that's the part. That's that's extra disturbing prelates pans and like the lsu fans always. Always wanted this offense obviously, they complained for years and rightly. So by the the plotting less miles offense, but there's a lot of pride in the school, the the the the billy cannon is the star up in you know and and now Joe Borough and players like that. But the tried is always been the defense, the Chinese bandits, Tommy Tests Inova Win Dorsey Laurent Landry mentioned, Patrick, Peterson, Taran Taran Matthew, and what else he doesn't play Great Defense I. Think this is this is like a core value of lsu's program that is not being being held a lived up to, and it's it's very troubling Tila lsu probably would take a little less offense for some better defensive as. Scott Realistically I mean this weekend looks like a long shot I would have to say I mean still Alabama. Out There Auburn out there. South, Carolina am I mean everyone knows the schedule? I mean before the season some might be hard to win them all but maybe maybe eight or nine. Where's the sliding scale right now? Ball I don't know it's sliding really. Really. Bad way down the hill. You know a lot of hills here in Baton Rouge but he found it. It's sledding Hill that way. Down Victory Hill Yes for the team marches down normally before the Games by Tigers stadium is not vitriol right now I I like everybody else said like the six games else who's GonNa win and four games where the season's going to be decided Alabama Auburn Florida and Texas a&M, and right now I don't think he can after South Carolina just banning by the same score Lsu did Arkansas has played. She's gotTa go to they'll South Carolina, comes here in in two weeks I don't I don't think. There's any Sherwin left for L. Share on the schedule I don't think they're gonNA go one nine but I think right now you just gotTa. Look at what can you do to have a have a winning season they're still good players There's on this team in town they lost a lot from last year obviously, but you know the they've got to. Change, the things coach today coach talk today about simplifying both offense and defense. Again remember the offense was Owen on third down Saturday that's a pretty bad step to although this court forty-one points should have been enough to win, but it's still some really great players on the House Brennan. Has Not Been, Joe Borough, been very good. You know he's had over three hundred yards passing game over four hundred yards Saturday tariffs, marshalls been tremendous hit two, hundred, thirty, five, yard service and three touchdowns Saturday. So this, this isn't good players in the team, but they just got to get tougher and and find a way to grind out a win somewhere and and this is not entirely similar fall I gotta say from twenty. Dissimilar from twenty seventeen she lost at home Detroit and went to Florida the next week and they won the game I'm not saying I'm not predicting she win. But this have the size, a lot of field of that when they kind of looked tougher and more determined and they found a way to win and they've never looked back games on order on, they're gonna be hard pressed to avoid doing that obviously late this week. He had I wouldn't call it a charm to existence because now that you mentioned the troy game and there had been some ups and downs but certainly coming off the best year ever how is he handling the defeats? A He's he's trying to take a lot of the blame on himself and deflected from his team Not exactly deflecting from the assistant coaches said, he's talked about, hey, on defensive we just have one coverage and one one formation. Let's do that. Let's and you said. Some things on offense too. I think he's kind of talking about Scott Lenihan, the new guy, a passing game coordinator WHO and Red Zone specialists who take the place of Joe Brady who who was on the staff last year and of course talking about Botha? Lenient? Coach, and he said something telling today I thought that you said, you know the most Ryan. The defense but he he's he's going to you know be checked in on every formation every plan that they use you know as a defensive line coach that's his forte he he's going to be I think maybe a little more hands on with the formations they use and the and the and the coverages, and but some of that are doing well, he's Got Thrown out I think that. This is the defense he wanted this is he talking about being wardrobe four three and they've got a great. Turn of Russia there plus six turnover ratio they're doing very well at that the they're causing some some big plays in that in that regard and turnovers just can't get off the field and can't Can't stop people and giving up a big big yards on the ground, and then these these huge places. The elected eight plays a twenty yards or more Saturday and gets very, which is

Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin on college football in a pandemic

"Really looking forward to this next guest. He's Lane Kiffin head coach at Ole Miss and coach Kiffin joining us from campus as. The rebels still have a little bit of time to coach. How's it going? Good afternoon great. I'm really looking forward to the interview to all on the same page well. Okay You promised me the other day you tape the coaches meeting last Thursday morning, and you're going to play it for us with all the descent going on. So can you just hit the play button and we'll all sit back and listen. I don't think that the commissioner be very happy about that. Paul. It was interesting call. Well, we we've been reading about it and and I know you pretty well, I doubt that. You were one of those complaining, but I would imagine you. You've been part of this league twice now What's it like? Being reunited with all your esteemed colleagues. Well, it's interesting I. Didn't realize until that first SEC meeting that we had in Birmingham this time around and I believe if I'm right coach saving, myself were the only ones. Were the only ones in the meeting that were there in whatever two, thousand nine in Tennessee won the day I took the job. So I just saw today and I realize you're your coaching football you're not in charge of the stadium, but I thought governor a few minutes ago in Mississippi governor reads announced that there would be I think twenty percent capacity that's not the big news. The big news is no tailgating. The I know that doesn't affect you as a coach, but it does affect the fans does it not? Yeah it does but you know it is what it is and You know good decision you know based off of social distancing issues in the spread. So a lot of decisions are being made like that that you know people aren't happy with, but you know people really for the most part following protocol with Corona and everyone's talking about the students. But you know I drive through downtown. I, see pictures on the Internet you know most aren't falling either so that makes it really difficult to open up the grow. Yeah I it is a big deal but know Miss Missile one season coach I on on the the more important issues of football team back we talked to you some time ago and that was before voluntary workout had had commenced how how's it feel now and what are you seeing and sensing? From your football team. What are excited to be back? We've had three practices and you know. They're always excited this time of year, but you know to have it taken away from them from Spring and then potentially not playing all at one point You can see how excited they are to be around, and so like I've said before challenges not motivating them, they're plenty motivated the challenges them having disciplined away from here. So we can stop the spread because really at the end of the day, everybody wants to lift weights. Every wants to practice run sprints and learn offense defense but. Probably the teams are win. The most games are the ones that have the least players out for the Games because of Cronin 'cause they manages well. Yeah in on that front What are you doing I mean I realize the season's five weeks away but will there be a set of protocols and precautions not not the normal safety but just to make sure that your own units don't infect each other and you're you're left going playing Alabama at home or another key game without. Critical people I know you can't avoid it, but you can also try to keep them separated to some degree or can you? Yeah, we can. You know I'm not worried about when they're here I, mean we we've got you know team meetings that we have out in indoor facility. You know with everybody spaced out and their instead of the team room you know we split our special teams means you know so we never have everybody together and so I'm not worried when they're here. You know they do a good job and we make them. You know it's it's when they're away from here and then they go into an environment of the college environment and they look around and no one's doing it. So you know it's it's difficult for a young kid. Either looted do it a couple times and I realized there's only so much coach can say but how? What means are you employing to try to drill that into their head or do they already know it and you just have to let them do whatever they they think is right. Now I mean when we talk about it all the time, Paul and you know the biggest point them. You may not feel like you matter because you're redshirt your fourteen. But you don't you don't do this right you know and you you can infect to starter. So. Or senior that you know loses part of their season or towards loses the end of their senior year. So you know it's really a big challenge. Have you sought at all because we always when we get the schedules which we did the other night you you tend to look at, Road Games home games and man this school has an advantage here or there but nobody really knows do they when you go when you go on the road and there's fifteen sixteen, seventeen, thousand people, it's not going to be the same road environment and I know you won't know until you get there but I'm just curious if someone who is coach at a lot of different places and a lot of really tough environments, what are your thoughts? Well, it's GonNa be completely different. You know definitely won't need silent count that's for sure so. We'll be in Tiger stadium into the season and you know we'll be able to to. To yell the audibles to the quarterback on the five yard line. So you know it it'll be very different I think kind of almost be eerie as you play you know for the players you know like. Lap for the SEC this would be less than a spring game. You know attendance so. it'll be very strange.
