Golf Fans Just Want the Best Players to Play

"That's it. End of story, then you don't have to worry about it. I mean, I know he's screwed with Tiger, creating his own tour of the Rory tour whenever people want to call it, but I don't know, man. The thing about Rory is like, still got Greg off ahead of him. It goes without saying, but he's not 21. Right. Or whatever. There's going to be all sorts of people coming up. So like, what's this all going to look like? Their skin probably have to be a marriage in this deal. The rumors on the street this week was John Ron was going. Like people were like popping off. There's a top ten. He's pissed at the rural tour. He doesn't want to play. Everybody thought it was wrong. I guess Ron came out and said fake news, not true. But there's more people are going to go, right? At some point, there's going to be some mergers, so maybe he's playing his cards. Maybe that's the deal. Maybe you talk shit the whole time. They were like, God, we're going to have to really pay this dude to kind of like, you know, come over to the dark side or negotiate or whatever. Who knows? I have no idea what's going to happen, but as a golf fan, I want the best guys playing plane in like mcelroy, what he thinks about the writer cop. I mean, I don't need to be rude, but it's totally irrelevant because the writer cup is run by the PGA of America, not the PGA Tour. And it's run by writer cup Europe, right? They have no say on who's on the American team. So if a couple of the guys make it, who cares? And as an American fan, I want the Americans to win. I'm not a freaking traitor, I want us to have the best team possible. So why wouldn't I want that? So then banning American guys hurts the American team, then banning Euro guys does it really hurt the Euro team at all. That's true. It's a good point. The thing that I really don't understand with all of this is that so you've got Rory you got Rory McIlroy in these guys talking against the live, okay? And you got guys that went to live. And you got PGA Tour players that went to live. And by the way, there are a couple guys on the PGA Tour that are playing this week by our boy, Jimmy walker, who's a friend of the pot, Jimmy walker, a great guy. And he's playing this week at the Leonard fournette championship out there in Napa Valley. And he's only playing because he was 54th in career money. 5 four. And four guys ahead of him went to live on the career money list. So he moved to number 50 and got a one time exemption to use on the PGA Tour, right? Because you get an exemption for top 50 career money, you get an exemption. Is that into everything or how does that happen? That's a full year. That is a full year. So you get a one year full year. If your top 50 career money, you get a one year full year career, you get a one year exemption. So like David toms is used one river. He was talking about that on FTP. Yeah. But there's a top 25 in the top 50. So Jimmy went from 54 to 50, so he had a one time exemption for an entire year and he's using it. This week, we're using it this year. He's playing the entire year, which that's helped a bunch of guys. Which I think is cool. Even though the guys that ended up leaving, obviously, are kicked out and banned forever, but whatever. Well, until they merge, wish they will merge, they will merge. This is ridiculous to not think that the lip tour and the PGA Tour will figure something out. They will. Norman and monaghan will run on the beach together hold hands and bathing suits and the world will be fine and a year probably. But until then, we've got to figure it out. And yeah, the top 50 career money list. That's kind of an interesting deal with all these guys going to live. It's opening more places up on tour for career money. Yeah, I mean, I love Jimmy walker like, I know your boys with Sam and he was on our parties and FTP guy and every time I look at his Instagram, he's like, here's this new grill. Here's the steak, reverse Sierra, like garlic butter, like I don't give a fuck. I wouldn't even know he was a golfer. I thought he was like the guy that does the sprinkles the salt. Yeah, I thought he was like the white southern Texas guy version of the guy that does that. But all of a sudden, I see pictures of him in 7 irons. He's like, here's my 7 iron swing and I was like, who gives a fuck? I was like, well, now I know why, because he's top 50 and he's practicing now. He's in an internment. He thought he was going to play nothing. Jimmy would Jimmy would Jimmy would probably agree. And I was like, well shit, now we gotta look at 700 swings instead of how to cook a delicious steak, but I'm here for, I'm here for regardless. I can't handle 7 iron and I can't cook a great steak, so. Yeah, there we are. So how many events did you play when you're in your year on the PGA Tour? Probably 30. You can play over 30 in one year. Did I

Mike Johnson Criticizes FX Series ‘Little Demon’ for Satanic Imagery

"Oh, let's not even talk about that. My tigers had a terrible ending there. But that was not, as you point out, though, that was not the most shocking thing about the game. It was this trailer for this crazy cartoon build as a sitcom, this new animated feature by FX, which is owned by Disney, of course they own ABC as well. That's a network that was airing the game. And they chose to run this ad during the second quarter as a trailer for this. I mean, truly demonic. I mean, by design, a demonic sitcom cartoon, and I just was so, I was so disturbed by Todd, I just felt like people needed to know. So I made a little Facebook post and it started a furor. It's called little demon is the name of the show. And it involves, well, I'll just read this from the description. 13 years after being impregnated by Satan, a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware. I wonder if they know the bidens. But our constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter's soul. It seems to me they're just trying to normalize paganism here, and that's exactly what the producer says was the intent of this cartoon. That was the goal. And they're not hiding it. I mean, they're saying the quiet parts out loud now. We've known this kind of stuff going on in popular culture and the media for years, but now it's just right there in your face. And that's not even the worst of it. I mean, if you read some of these online reviews about this program, they've already aired four episodes. It's just filled with quote unquote spectacularly gory sequences, it has lines in the programs like quote, let's go boil some babies while their heads are still soft. I mean, you know, it sounds like we're making this stuff up, but they are celebrating this. I mean,

David Toms Weighs Up LSU Football's Chances This Year

"LSU football and 12, no 11 days now, open Florida state. This is a tricky situation this year, I think, because we're used to having a clown as a head coach. We're used to having a guy that's always in front of the camera, doing all sorts of stuff. And it seems, for the first time since Nick Saban, that we actually have a football coach at the elm, and we're not seeing all of that extra hoopla media attention and all that. What do you think about Brian Kelly? What do you think about baby setting or align at 6 and a half games? Well, I mean, my first thought is, you know, woodwards of a friend of mine and he said to me, the biggest thing about Brian Kelly is now I do not have to babysit my football coach. And he goes, I needed a professional in there and run the program like we wanted all to be run as Tiger fans. And that's the bottom line is that, you know, the guys is a professional. You can tell by his media awareness and the way he runs the program, the way he's kind of cleaned up things. It's not like a good old boy network anymore and I look for him to do really well. I think as far as the odds go and what Vegas says, I think that they're a little bit out of touch with our improved roster.

The Tiger's wife stood. The Tiger begged her, saying he was sorry. They could go home together. He would be different. She lifted the biggest rock. And dropped it in the well. Nothing. Neither words nor Tiger came out of that well. Again. Everyone left the well. But the three brothers found their sister and put their arms around her. They were sorry she had to do that. "Goods has got them. So nomad goods dot com slash four, go check that out. Okay, P and C this week at Tiger Woods Charlie Woods, I was thinking this morning a little bit about like what really are we expecting from Tiger Woods? In fact, like what is what is going to kind of make or break, I guess this experience this weekend because I think more than likely Tiger Woods is going to come out. He's going to be about what everybody expected. He's going to hit good shots. It's like a scramble with his kid where he's going to hit shots further off the teeth and Tiger is just like he did last time. So I was trying to think like, what's really going to stand out or what could stand out from Tiger over these two days this weekend? And the biggest thing I was thinking about was the distance that his driver goes, 'cause I think you could base pretty much everything off of that. If Tiger shows up, and his swing speed is one O 5, and he's hitting it two 55 off the T, I think that's going to be, okay, he really is a ways away from being able to come back, now if he comes out and it's like, I guess drivers not full speed. He's not he's not swinging at a 120 or a 118 miles an hour club head speed. But he's swinging one 15, one 13 he's hitting it two, 82, 75 to 90, you know, carry off the tee and it's rolling out some and rolling out to 303 ten. Then I think it's gonna be, oh this guy's this guy's just pretty much there. If he gets four more months, AKA the master's tournament and he's already come this far in the last month or two of hitting balls, right? Because he hasn't sog he's been hitting balls for 9 months, the accident was 9, ten months ago. He's probably only been hitting balls for three or four weeks, max, maybe a month and a half, 5 weeks max..

"It's crazy. That's amazing. Really impressive and very cool. Now T data, you were, I want to say, were you 60 or 70%, but then went up to almost 90% for Augusta? What do you think now? I don't know if I would change anything for me. No, me either. I think really. Well, I mean, what was that last show? 95% after we talked it through, so I think I'm pretty much in the same boat because there's always a chance he just doesn't play and you know he decides he's not ready or whatever. But I mean, the overwhelming opinion I would imagine is that he's gonna play at Augusta. Yeah, I think so. I mean, it's just very exciting. He's gonna have a tea in the ground here and just two weeks. We're gonna be watching him hit like irons into greens and having big pots and high fiving with Charlie and just they're gonna come out in the red and black again on Sunday. The whole thing is just it's just gonna happen next week. I just need to make it to next weekend now. You played the PNC to witness this on television. You play the PNC almost died and is playing the PNC again. He didn't miss it. He's like, he's just there in the record book. It's just gonna be that he played every year during this stretch. He's just, he was just there and played golf with his son. So I tweeted out yesterday, will Tiger Woods play in the 2022 masters and it got 4300 votes. 53%, yes. That he will play in the masters. 47% saying no. So I mean it's pretty close to 50 50 for the general public. That's a lot of votes from golf fans on our Twitter. So I thought the number for yes would be higher. Yeah, same. It's a little close to 1550 50. My motherfuckers play in the masters. I'm sorry. He's playing the master's tournament. How is he not going to play the master tournament? They got the walrus fucking plays the masters and you're telling me Tiger Woods who just won the tournament two years ago is not gonna play in the master's tournament. He doesn't want to be embarrassed, man. It's all about how people perceive them. If he doesn't think that he can compete, he's not gonna play in it. He's only gonna play when he thinks he can win. This PNC is a good step though. Yeah, but also he's driving the car and he's hitting the shots of Charlie. Get him back out there in front of you. This is all about Charlie. Let's not forget about this. This is the reason why he's doing the Tiger Woods. The Tiger Woods killer assassin winning tournament after tournament every single week is not worrying about playing golf at the PNC with his son. You know what I mean? Like this is a new Tiger Woods that is doing this for his son to get out there and have fun and show the world their relationship and how good his son is and it's a memory thing. This has nothing to do with his skill or him trying to win tournaments. Let's just, that's a fact. I think that's wrong. Thank you. I was sneaking over to the back of the driving range all week to hit balls. Like he wasn't doing that so that Charlie Woods would just think that he looks cool on TV..

"And JT says, well, that's your fucking dad's trophies. You piece of shit. You know, it's like a little shit. Like as your dad's trophies, what have you won? So he's already got that mentality of like we've got. We've got 14 of these fucking things. It's a little scary that he's already thinking that. I love that it's weak. I love that he's saying we. It's like him and dad are like, we're at this together. It's not this abrasive thing, which again, as you turn into a teenager and you turn it into like maybe a late stage danger, you might become a lot more of a little shit head to your parents. I think everybody probably did. Right now he's fucking 12. So I think when you're 12, you're usually still like you're pretty cute and you're like, yeah, my parents are great. You got one? That's it? He's just roasting the golf empire. We are the empire. And I'm going to carry this torch next. It's going to be fascinating. That was also a sneaky big winner of the Tiger news was Justin Thomas. Like Tiger Woods was like the thomases are family to us, JT's like a brother that I've never had or maybe about Charlie. "And now we have a very intelligent, incredible man of Tiger Woods who's in his late 40s that's still believes that the next goal shot is more important than breathing because his dad has ingrained that into his being. His body that's only thing that he thinks about. It's very funny that he hasn't gone away from that philosophy of thinking with all his years of meeting other people, not just Earl. He has more influence from other athletes and golfers. He's still thinks that way. That's how scary that upbringing was. Scary. And the influences from your formative years are certainly more like they have, that's how you are. Later on in life, you start to get more self aware and you yeah, you run into other people and they teach you certain ways that they live and all that. But when you're growing up, when it's literally the first thing you know, that's gets coated onto your DNA and that's just who you are for the entirety of your life. You never get rid of that ever. We don't talk about how we don't talk enough about how Earl would hit golf balls and then feed Tiger to the sound of the swing. It would actually do with training, like military dogs. Literally. They smell something they get hungry or it's fucking psychotic, but it's what it's what built Tiger Woods. It's what made us fall in love with them and I would never change a thing about it. You do bring up an interesting point about Charlie ware. He'll have options. He certainly has options on what he wants to do where he has a lavish sort of lifestyle or he'll grew up lavishly. Tiger was like this either happening or there's no other option. It's this half to happen. Charlie, hopefully, I hope it's far healthier than that, that the father son relationship is far healthier than that..

"Credit, I said like, this is why we don't go to press conferences. If you're telling me we're going to stand up there with a microphone and look somebody in the eye, especially Tiger Woods and like, okay, sir, it is time to ask question now, we can't fucking do that. We're not going to press conferences. Yeah, and that's something that I don't know if you guys talked about this, but you know everyone on Twitter and on call channel or hammering us like, you know what? Why didn't you hammer Tiger on the questions about the accident? Why didn't you press him on that? It's like, you've quite clearly never asked Tiger wins a question, and he just completely shuts you down. Like, I can't remember who was who asked, but they asked about the crash and he's like, all the police report. And at that moment, it was so clear that any other question about the crash would a have just like take him off and be would have gotten a response. So if you think about it like it's not in anyone's best interest to ask that question. I don't know. I mean, it's a longer longer conversation, but people don't realize who haven't done it before. Like when Tiger Woods is saying, you dead in the eyes and he doesn't blame. I don't know if you noticed it too. Like, when he stares at you, he just doesn't blink. And if he doesn't like a question like Dylan, you guys know doing the truth. He asked the question about do you feel like this is your business and no one else's business? And he finishes the question like, you know, you can poke around me for them to take the restaurant..

"If he wasn't thinking about making a comeback toward to the point where he could win again. That's how I think. Totally. And the headlines are bullshit. I mean, I even had my sister who doesn't know anything about golf text me yesterday. I showed it to Trent because we hadn't seen the golf digest article yet or the video. And she goes, I'm so sorry about Tiger with all crying emojis. And it was a headline saying like Tiger Woods may never play golf again on the PGA Tour. So to the average just sports viewer that doesn't really know what's going on in golf. It's like, oh shit, Tiger Woods is never gonna be on the PGA Tour again. He's just announced it in this interview. And I said immediately, without even watching, I said, well, he hasn't been everyday PGA Tour player for three or four years. So it's gonna be fine. He's just gonna play in the big ones..

"Running from cops and most recently the line. His new show is called. Nine twelve in the series is about what happened the day after september eleventh and every day since nine twelve is about how nine eleven the day became nine. Eleven the idea and how that idea has shaped the world our culture and ourselves for the past twenty years you'll meet the teenager whose personal conspiracy theories spread around the globe and the rollerblading tour guide. Who tried to take him down. You will follow the staffers for the satirical newspaper. The onion who woke up the morning after nine eleven realized they had to do the impossible. Right jokes hilarious headlines about the news of the day now on the twentieth anniversary of nine eleven. We finally have enough distance. Maybe to see some things that we couldn't see before and to learn some lessons that have gone on learned for the past twenty years. You're about to hear a preview of nine twelve while you're listening be sure to follow nine twelve wherever you get your podcast or you can binge all seven episodes right now on amazon music or with one free plus days after nine eleven. It really did feel like nothing would ever be funny again. Welcome to the late show. This is our first show on the air. Sense of new york and washington were attacked. Even the men on late night had abandoned their post. Then shuffled back. One by one cowed by their lack of words to describe what had happened. Letterman came. I watching all of this. I wasn't sure of that. I should be doing a television show because for for twenty years we've been in in the city making fun of everything making fun of the city making fun of my hair making fun of paul well. Conan came the next night. I will be very honest with you. I have no idea how to do what we've been doing. I know i have no idea how we're going to get back to doing this again. That's how we all feel. And then jon stewart two nights later. I was a producer on the daily show. Then standing just offstage with the rest of the staff feeling like someone had pulled the parking brake at full speed. Our senses of humor had dropped right out of the bottom of the car. So we're we're gonna take a break. And i'm going to stop slobbering on myself in the desk and we're going to get back to this and it's gonna be fun and funny and it's going to be the same as it was and i thank you. We'll be right back. I just assumed well. We can't do humor todd. Hanson was the head writer at the satirical newspaper the onion at the time. Everyone on the staff assumed that and so we cancelled it and we just went dark and of course who cares. It's just comedy right. But here's the problem the onion isn't just a scrappy. College comedy thing anymore. They have financial backers they have payroll. They have add biased fulfil hell. They still have to pay. They might be giants. They can't just stop printing whenever they want. They have to put out there next issue. A whole newspaper full of topical humor about the news of the day jokes about whatever everyone is talking about right now. You see the dilemma here. I don't recall at the time thinking we stand on. The cusp of history. Gentlemen are jokes will determine humor for it wasn't like that onion writer. John cruzan it was. It was listen. I know it's been a week. But i just want to go home and curl up in a ball son todd hanson head writer and so we just assumed well. We'll just have to come up with material that has nothing to do with the current events. It's just like observational humor about life or something but even saying that. We'll just not talk about it. It felt absurd. I mean what else was anyone thinking of writer. Carol kolb i mean. Obviously you're not thinking of anything else so if you're sitting down to write something you're writing about this. We decided to do was come up with ideas and so we were getting anywhere and decide from there. So as the nation mourns and new york still smolders literally. Ten writers show up at the onion offices to tell each other nine eleven jokes to see. If it's even possible to do this at all there was just like a bunch of like stinky unkempt writers. You know with the little notebooks. Everyone wrote just a mountainous stuff. Staffer mike low. And then you do your onion meeting where you know you pick your stuff and you pitch in the form of headline pitch in the form headlines. That's right no caveats. You know you can't be like now. I'm thinking maybe what this one we do. Kind of knob. Just gimme the headline. because that's what the reader gets right and you do it in front of the group so you either get a laugh and everyone builds on the joke or or silence and it's pretty clear and you move onto the next one and as it begins they can see what a challenge threading. This needle is going to be. I remember at the time that there was a particularly good. Structurally good joke written by tim. Harrod one of the staff writers then and it was america's stronger than ever say quadra gone officials we. We didn't use it because it's at the expense of the pentagon and and and all those people had died and so you know even though that was normally what the the onions tone would be. It just didn't feel right for that issue. Does that make sense quadra. But she just can't do it. We had lost our bite. We had lost all sense of ironic detachment. We had become sincere and that becomes the way forward. Follow nine twelve forever. You.

"A letter from a man awaiting trial for halloween night murder. A murder he swore he hadn't committed the evidence against him was flawed. He said curious. I agree to look into his story and quickly realized this case was different than any other ever reported on my new true crime. Podcast suspect starts back in october of two thousand eight when the residents of a redmond apartment complex were throwing a big halloween party dozens of people in costume mingling drinking and dancing but after the party started to quiet down one of the host was murdered in her apartment. The police spent weeks piecing together. The night with hazy recollections and dozens of party photos eventually they had suspect. His story kept changing his. Dna was at the crime scene when he finally came in for questioning. The detectives felt like they were breath away from confession. But that didn't happen and so the police decided to focus their attention on another man. A man with a criminal record who's dna was also found at the crime scene and a man who just happened to be. The only black person at the party suspect starts out as a compelling whodunit and then becomes a story about cutting edge forensic science and mislead justice about race and policing and ultimately the kinds of weighty decisions cops and prosecutors make every day decisions that once made change lives forever and are almost impossible to reverse about to play you a brief preview of suspect. But while you're listening make sure to follow suspect on apple podcasts. Amazon music or he can bench all nine episodes ad free by subscribing to.

He'd invited benito long but she almost didn't make it just a few weeks earlier should had surgery and gotten an infection but after some antibiotics things seem to be getting better besides she really wanted to see moscow and then the infection cleared off enough that my doctor said you're fine. You're okay to travel but now at dinner it was clear something was very wrong and i started having horrible pain now. My piercing pain at first. She tried to tough it out hoping to make it through the desert but this was just too much. I remember squeezing policy hander. At a table and i just look at him and i say my love. Something's wrong. a look of concern flashed across paulos face. Everything's gonna be okay. He said he got up from the table. Threw down some cash and grabbed her coat and i could barely walk barely again in the taxi. They made it back to their hotel room and he said lie down on the bed. Benita quickly pulled off her clothes as best she could so he could see the wound. He looked at the decision and he looked at me and he said do you trust me and i just looked at him and i said. Give me another glass of wine. Paolo gave a soft smile and then walked to the mini fridge. He pulled out a bottle of wine then build a glass to the brim and handed it to her shy promptly. Slogged and i lay down and he said where you're scissors. I have these travel scissors that I was using to cut the gauze that i was covering the incision with i said there in the bathroom and he goes in the bathroom and then he gets my travel scissors and he is peroxide or something whatever he has to quote unquote sterilize them. He came back over to her. Look during the is and he said. Do you trust me. And i just nodded my head and he took those scissors and he plunged them and incision. The pain was unlike anything should felt. Benita has a high pain threshold but for a second she thought she was going to blackout. Went hand was gripping the bed and the other was holding onto paolo shoulder. How low told her that he had released the pus from her infection and it would help her heal. She believed him because she trusted him. She wasn't the only one fellow surgeons trusted. Paolo patience trusted paulo. But this dashing globetrotting miracle working doctor would betray them all. I believe in miracles. I believe in magic. I believe in love and it just seemed like this is going to be good of course why not and we saw more and more live in these matters. "Mary attempt to set things right berry. Roll the dice on a scheme. So bizarre it's hard to believe. It actually happened. He kidnapped frank sinatra junior host. John stamos sat down with the kidnapper tells us to complete story for the very first time every detail. Every plot twist every goofy character he conned along the way. You're about to hear a preview of the grand scheme snatching sinatra while you're listening. Follow the grand scheme on apple podcasts. Amazon music or binge all the episodes by subscribing to wonder plus in apple podcasts. Or the one wrap. It had been a few hours since their slow speed chase out of lake tahoe berry joe and frank sinatra junior had made it across the state line and they were driving through blinding. Snow car was skipping all over the road. is they try to navigate. These narrow mountain passes tacoma's nerves very turned on the radio radio station. I came announcing the kidnapping. And then there were playing out. Your slow and junior came up with a comment. Like is that typical of the media. They're now trying to take advantage of this terrible mistake. That you guys made and make it into a show business bobby-socksers authority and then just as they're coming up on the lights of this tiny little mountain town the just start applying strangers in the night. Now look sure. It was a coincidence. But the scene is so perfect. He couldn't write it. Think about it. A troubled and mentally unstable drunk strung out on his misguided fantasy of redemption on the run after committing a felony albeit one. He believes to be divinely ordained his reluctant end slightly. Dimwitted accomplish the former. James dean of union high battered bruised frozen to death in the passenger seat but loyal to the last and in the backseat. The son of hollywood royalty muzy on booze and sleeping pills sneering at the radio for spinning the story of his kidnapping into yet. Another story about his fath- thought. Wow how amazing is that. Harry are three strangers. Of course junior is also being held against his will here so he didn't have much agency in the narrative barriers crafting about this trip but embarrassed mine. They were just three men all outcasts in their own way slipping and sliding down the highway towards an unknown fate. Salvation or downfall could go either way for berry. There was only one possible way to interpret this moment so i thought it was another divine revelation that we were on the right track soul for very was counting on some more divine intervention to see this thing through still had a few hundred miles of driving a blizzard in order to make it back to the safe house and the perfect soundtrack for his plan of operation was the only thing coming through the speakers radio saying they're starting to door to door search first thing in the morning i'm justice and you're listening to the grand scheme snatching sinatra chapter five strangers in the night as the hours passed are strangers in the night. Weren't making good time on their mad dash back to la. We went over these eight thousand foot. High mountain passes with no chains on and had to get out on a couple of occasions unless significant amount of air on. My tyres. Swope will get better traction and us fish tailing and everything at one point. He slid directly do snow. And you gotta figure that life altering car wreck from just a year or so earlier you know the one that got him. Hooked on quotes was still fresh in his mind but at the moment he had more immediate concerns for one thing has gas tank was almost empty and every gas station. They passed it signs up saying that. They were closed until monday morning. And every little town same now got down to about less than a quarter of a tank new series saw. I finally saw trauma nation. Convenience store gas station little motel you with a house on top of the gas station and convenience store so i knocked on the door and the guy very nice guy said outta gas about on should yes sir and i said there anyway you could sell some gas and we have to get to work on monday and blah blah blah and. He said sure so. He filled up of gas. And i saw in his store that he sold liquor and i said is there any way i could buy a bottle of whiskey from you in some up and some milk now. Remember burying joe at gambled away all their money and lake tall but it also taken junior from his hotel room on the pretense that this was a robbery which meant junior had handed over his wallet which contain a single hundred dollar bill so to repay this poor guy who berry just dragged out of bed and into the snow. I gave him franks dollar village. I can't change all the money's locked up so all s- keep the change now remember. That's one hundred dollar bill in nineteen sixty three which means that for a tank of gas a bottle whisky. Some seven up some milk. The gas station owner at pocketed more than eight hundred bucks in today's money. So barry figured the guy would mind if he grab just one more thing so by another bottle of booze and that'll take care of her trip home and he said okay fair enough demand. Tuck the hundred in his pocket and he went back to bed completely unaware that he just aided and abetted a federal crime. Very passed around the whiskey and seven up and he hit the road. We kept looking for a radio station. That wasn't talking about kidnapping playing frank sinatra songs and finally hit on wolfman jack who was broadcasting from the mega station in tijuana. And so we all love. We'll find jackie refunded. You way before your time but anyway. He was a very comedy for the record. Yes i do. Indeed know who wolfman jack is or was but just in case. You don't take a second to imagine. The sultry sounds of frank sinatra singing voice. Got it now. Imagine the exact opposite good time. Is that a telephone. We calling from all right what you lay a hand on the radio bay. We go play your record now. Are you. ready sir. Can't come right and for the record. I didn't steal. Uncle jesse's catchphrase. Have mercy from wolfman jack. That's my story and i'm sticking it anyway. Wolfman jack changed the energy in that car. Joe took a break from dabbing. The blood oozing from his head wound took a few pools of whiskey. Pass the bottle back to junior. Who was already buzzed from the sleeping pills. Buried fed them back at the hotel to hear berry talent. They were having a blast. We were cracking jokes when the car. We were all drinking as much fun as berry says they were having. I suspect his passenger might have been a little more anxious than he realized. Joe is probably wondering when barry was going to ask him to climb back in the trunk runoff into the blizzard. Again and as cool as junior was playing things he must have been at least a little worried that these guys were kill him. I mean whatever they were up they sure didn't seem like experts. Whatever each man's motivation fund fear of frostbite as they white knuckled it down. Those snowy mountain passes on some level berry knew that they were in a heap of danger with every hairpin turn but in his mind. There was a silver lining. at least they weren't strangers anymore. That was like we were three guys on a road trip.

Turns around january of one thousand nine hundred eighty eight. A small town in the forests of northern new jersey was rocked by a night of terrible violence. This is the true account of the murder of betty and sullivan. A thirty seven year old wife and mother of two the brutal ritualistic nature. Mrs opens murder only begins to scratch the surface of this heinous crime even today more than thirty years later the circumstances surrounding her death are still debated in community and of the people who remember that night that still live in town. There are many of them that are willing to talk about. The story made national headlines because it fit into a larger narrative an idea fear that had existed for the most part within the margins of the american social handsome but would now be standing front and center that fear is given name the satanic panic and it had all at once tasked aside the whispered urban legend too hysterical national nightmare by the time detective. Paul hart arrived on the scene. The single-story gray house with black shutters was awash in the manic blinking of police. Lights firefighters did not much to do. The fire was contained before it had spread out of family. Detective heart was more concerned with the basement. Where the dead body was at this point. He knew two things. There is a mutilated body of a woman in her late thirties. Presumably betty and sullivan. The woman in her son tommy boy fourteen was missing. He was sitting in quiet contemplation of this when his phone. Tell me sullivan. And it wasn't the news. He was hoping for the crime. Scene was across the street from the sullivan hall in the eastman's backyard and if the questions in his head weren't enough already there were about to be. Many many mr eastman had been smart enough or scared enough to stay away from the body. The crime scene was intact untouched. The snow surrounding the body was proof of that. Only one set of tracks led from the woods to the woodpile. Tommy had walked there alone. He picked vantage point from which he could see his front door where he could watch as the corner of removed his mother's body from the house. Then he sat down in the snow and one about the terrible business of killing himself. He had a small pocket knife that he got from the boy scouts a knife. He would now plunged deep into his left wrist. Only he didn't quite know what he was doing. The blades slid between the bones of his wrist severing tendon ligament but not rupturing enough votes from to bleed out right away. He tried again and again but kept getting the same results in terrible pain. Probably close to passing out from shock and afraid that he'd be discovered before he actually finish the job. Tommy chose a more permanent solution with his remaining good hand. He plunged the small three inch blade into his neck just below his left ear similarly must've amounted to superhuman drink dragged the blade across his neck until it reached his other. The depth of the cut was astonishing as was the amount of damage inflicted arteries muscles windpipe. Larynx off completely severed. There was an explosion of blood and gore in the weight of his head in the absence of the muscles of his neck nearly overcame the structural integrity of cervical spine. The third episode of Joe Exotic will be out in a few days in the meantime because of the intense interest in Joe Carroll Baskin many of the other people involved in this story we will from time to time. Be Sharing exclusive extended interviews from rob. Moore's reporting rob spent years on this story and spoke with dozens of people in this episode Rob Interviews Carol Baskin where she shares more details about her childhood leaving home fifteen her first marriage and the first time she met her second husband. Dan Lewis. Here's the interview. So when and where were you born can serve? Tell the story of your birth members kind of a good story. I was born the Lackland Air Force Base. My father was in the military. He was in the Air Force for four years so even though I was born there we move back to Tampa when I was about three cat. I was wondering what was the good story so recently. I was going through some photo albums my mother gave me and I pulled out some pictures and was putting them in a different book and one of the pictures was a picture of me the first day they brought me home from the hospital. My Mother's holding me and my father is holding a little orange and white kitten and on the back of the photograph. It said the cat's name was tiger. And all these years I had no idea that might first pet was a cat named tiger. Didn't even know that there's a cat. They're the cat in the cradle When your baby so can you just briefly just kind of describe your your family for me? My father was a workaholic and my mother was a workaholic. My father had a lot of different jobs as I was growing up. He had a lawn care. Business is the private pilot for the governor of West. Virginia that was Governor Arch Moore. He had a furniture store and my mother worked. Mostly the secretary and mostly in legal settings or in bank settings in nineteen ninety six. My father retired and my mother was still working and he was driving her crazy because he didn't know how to make popcorn need at nowhere. Anything was in the house. Didn't know how to take care of himself. And she said you gotta find something for your father do so we brought him out to the sanctuary and he built a couple of ponds for the cats and then day after day he was finishing these projects so quickly that he finally said you know. What do you want me to do next? I said knock yourself out whatever you WanNa do and back then. All of our cages were concrete floor. Chain link steel boxes and so he started building the huge natural habitats EC for the cats. Now and that's what he dedicated his life to was making their lives as comfortable as possible. Jimmy Siblings Child. I have one brother. He's six years younger than I am. He retired from the sheriff's department a few years ago and that was right at the time when my father was falling ill and so he was helping my father with some of the cage work around the sanctuary and then helped us out for about a year after that. And your daughter's years was really like a family affair. This little place built by but when we rescued the fifty six cats from the farm in Minnesota that was in nineteen ninety-three and Jamie was twelve at the time or thirteen guest right around that time and so she's been taking care of exotic cats and she was twelve years old. What kind of like just in general terms? What kind of kid were you? What were you what were you into? What was your you know? How did you fit into the ecosystem of the school? What were your passions? Just what how? Can you describe yourself as a child? I was always a tomboy. I all my friends were boys By spend a Lotta time climbing trees and I made the mistake. One day of climbing up into this tree that was right outside of our house and it was in Charleston West Virginia and you could look out over the mountains and the airport was in the distance. Which is where my father was flying in and out all the time so. I would watch that. I was just bored out of my mind and I remember saying God i Never WanNa be this board again and it was like the Voice of God answered that question and it has just never had a boring moments since then. I don't think as a kid you ever get bullied. Did you ever get your face? You know. I don't know kids who are being particularly Intimidating or harsh or anything like that. I did deal with bullies a lot because my brother was extremely shy. Just couldn't look at this child and not having break out into tears and of course bullies just love that and so they were constantly picking on him and I was always having to fight his battles for him. There was a a particular situation where we had to walk to school and it was a long way. We had walked five miles. The there was this one particularly rough gang of boys that were all my agent older in fact one of them. I remember his name still to this day. Name was Eddie craft and they said he had failed the sixth grade six times so he was probably eighteen nineteen years old and still in grade school but he had this group of boys that had surrounded may at one point and I was carrying lunch to school in a amway briefcase which is kind of like a hard plastic case. I sold Amway doors a kid so I had that briefcase and I just started swinging around in a circle with that briefcase in figured if I took out just even one of them the rest of them would scatter and sure enough. I clipped Eddie and the rest of them ran like roaches in. Did you learn a lesson than about about how to deal with with bullies is terrifying is? That was for me to teach me that. If you stand up to them they will back down and I think if I had not just like with my brother. Because he couldn't stand up to these people he was constantly tormented. You moved out right. So when did you did? We move like twenty times during my childhood We moved we moved from Texas to Tampa from Tampa to Panama City. My father was a flight instructor in Panama City and then we came back to Tampa then. We went to West Virginia. That was when he got the job for the governor and then when the new governor came in Governor Rockefeller took over he sold all of the State. Planes bought helicopters but none of the pilots could fly helicopters. So my father my father. My mother brother ended up moving back to Tampa. I stayed there and worked for governor. Our Governor Rockefeller for Awhile and then I came out one day and my car was buried in the snow and I dug it out of the snow. I had to use a hairdryer to warm the engine up enough that it would actually fire and I called in and I said I'm not coming into work today. A move into Florida packed the car up and moved to Florida coming in today. Or any day after this Goodbye and so you sort of you got pretty early when you left home. I left him at the age of fifteen. So so. Where'd you go? Would you do when you're fifteen? You Tomac literally even at night. Where did you go? Well it was It was a perfect storm of events. I had been dating a boy that was in Tampa when we lived in Tampa. When I left home we were in West Virginia. He had gone into the military and he was up in Washington. Dc around that area and he calls me up out of the blue and says that he's going back to Florida. Do I WANNA come along? So I packed up to paper grocery bags of clothes and we drove back to Florida. That then ended up being. I don't know probably a year year. And a half of hitchhiking back and forth down the East Coast and turns out he had gone Awol from the army which was a really bad thing And he was an extremely abusive person. He was six foot. Four two hundred thirty pounds of just nothing but temper emperor so it was a horrifying part of my life. We ended up back in West Virginia. And that's when I got the job for. I worked a number of different jobs in restaurants and bars and even though I was underage I I looked a lot older than I was and so I was able to work a breakfast shift for I think it was Howard Johnson's at the time and then a lunch shift. I forget where that place was. And then there was Evening Shifts that I could work at restaurants and bars and I remember. One of them was called Athens by night and they had this belly dancer named Little Sheba and I had ended up getting a job for the governor's office so that was fabulous and I was able to give all of these restaurant jobs that I had and the press got a hold of the fact that there was a fifteen year. Old Working in the governor's office and just had field day with that and my parents actually had to sign a work permit for me to be able to do that. But by that time I had left home and they understood was coming back. Sydney rate the press got a hold of that and said that I was little she but I I can't dance. Lick was not the belly dancer from Athens by night. But I have a long history of the press twisting by story so when I dug my car out of the snowbank and drove it back to Florida. I don't remember the exact Sequence of events but I was driving up old Mazda station wagon and my father had gotten a Orange Datsun pickup truck. It went found the job. Zehr which was kind of like K. Mart or target. By this time I hit my cat. Who had been living with my parents so the cat was living with me in the truck. I had a camper that I put on the back so I was living in the back of the truck and at night what I would do is. There was a pastor window between the cab of the truck and the back in the next day. When I'd go to work I'd have to find someplace cool that I could park where she have a breeze and here in Florida this just too hot and so my boss there was Mike Murdock and he had an apartment and so I asked him. This cat could stay with him during the day which he allowed and then I ended up marrying Mike and he was the author of my daughter. Jamie so I married him when I was seventeen. Seventeen in this is a here in Tampa. Yes did that feel young marrying someone seventeen. That was a pretty standard for the time. It was not normal. I don't think at that time for people to married that young but I had been out on my own for two years so it seem normal to me mentally. You were already nineteen twenty one like you were way ahead of people your age and allies in the marriage to Mike cost. I married him when I was seventeen. So that would have been nineteen seventy eight and then. Jamie was born in nineteen eighty The birth little bit. I never had any intention of having children because I am not mother material by any stretch of the magic nation. I was never a kid that played with dolls. I never imagined what my wedding was going to be like. I don't have any of those them in kind of leanings but accidentally got pregnant and ended up having Jamie who has turned out to be. Just you know soulmate. She's amazing and people often credit her with being the adult ner relationships as a result of having no mothering skills you pretty much had to raise herself and I think Mike and is separated. Probably about eighty four. So it was. A long protracted divorce by eighty six eighty seven. And then you mean you may done right and that. Don In nineteen eighty. Okay so you and Mike were together..
