"I expect the first person he thinks to be Tom Brady. But he was used a Hall of Fame player because Of what he meant to that particular position on the field. Same with Steve Atwater's Another one. Steve Atwater. Better safety than Julian Gentleman was a wide receiver, but It gave way to a new era of that position. And there's certainly not any stats that you could look to for Steve Atwater, right? Few interceptions. Decent amount of tackles for a safety. It was his impact What Steve Atwater's existence gave way to Detroit. Polamalu's The Ed Reed's The John Lynch's They're going to be guys that are slot receivers that are gonna owe their careers potentially Hall of Fame careers to Julian and Elin. And for that reason, that's why I think he's all of Famer. 5 to 2987 to take your thoughts on Julian Elements Hall of Fame case before we break for the top of the hour. "A little bit much, but Don't mind if Michael Porter Takes a few extra shots in a game here in a game there. Generally when Nicole Yokich scores 40 points or Michael Porter attempts, a lot of shots the Nuggets don't do well, You know why? Because they're not designed for those guys to do that. Nicole Yo Kage. Is a guy that affects the game in multiple ways. So if he is on Lee truly affecting the game As a scorer. That's a problem. That means nobody else is helping out. And that's why the Nuggets have lost so many games when Nicole Yokich goes off for 30 or 40 points. It's not the way that their design and it's not how they win Basketball games. Same with Michael Porter Jr. The way they win is with Michael Porter taken 10 to 12 shots and knocking down like Eight to tenable. Being incredibly efficient from the field. Altitude threw up a graphic yesterday that I thought was completely reckless, but the information on it Was factually correct. They threw up Michael Porter Jr side by side with LeBron James and the Miami Heat Jersey. But you look at his shooting percentage is this year. They are very similar to what LeBron had in Miami. What does that mean? Nothing. Michael Porter is not the best player in the game. He's not the best player even on his own team. It's a nice little factoid that people can go. Ooh! Michael Porter's being compared to LeBron. The graphic was just there to show you that he's been incredibly efficient, and that's why He has Fit so well recently. Because he only takes the best shots. So if he's taking 23 needs all 23 to get 22 points. That's a bad day. So when the Nuggets are at their best, Michael Porter Jr is taking half That many shots So these air things That pop up ever importer thing less so than the bench. But they've happened before. We've seen them. It's just it was exacerbated by turnovers. In the Celtics are just a good enough team to take advantage of things like this. And it was a bad bad fourth quarter. Now, the thing that is getting a little bit more run. Is the officiating. Boston was incredibly physical with Nicole Yokich. They wanted to beat him up because they knew that was the on leeway that they were going to be able to win that basketball game. Is if they just beat down Nicole Yokich for four quarters. And they did, and they did successfully. You know why? Because the officials didn't make calls last night. And Devil McGee said it the other day. He was asked. How do the Nuggets because as you know, this is not a new thing. Nicole Yokich not getting found calls. And the Denver Nuggets getting the short end of the stick. When it comes to officiating. It happens quite a bit. And Javale. McGee was asked how How do the Nuggets fix that? He said,.

"David said this after the said it before the round on Sunday and people repeated and afterwards But think about that. What He just said the billion dollar Yeah. Just from endorsements and It's the fame that now is going to follow Padecky Matsuyama every time he sets foot in Japan like about life changing well, I don't even think he not not to correct. But I don't think just when he steps foot in Japan now the coverage when every event that he goes in place states that were anywhere in the world. The Japanese media which is all already ever present. Will be well further descend upon and But wait. How cool was it? That CBS was piping in the Japanese broadcast during the shots? That was pretty cool. No idea what they're saying. But you can tell when hit the water. They weren't happy. Universal size, universal sides. Good boy. I got you. "Like Dad as he crushed that thing, but the opposing forces of the draw with the wind Just made it this hang up there and it fell short, but I defend him. I could defend him bt because he was so far back. I mean, it was a point when When Matsuyama was 12 and Xander. Shockley was six and I was like, Teddy, How much is this Suck? You're playing with the guy who's going to be the eventual champion and you're gonna finish like, like eight shots behind him. That just sucks. Right walking up to them through the 18 T, but he got close. So at 16. He's within two shots. He's like, feeling like the drill is there you just want to muscle it, And so he like when you want a muscle, something like that, because he hit it pure, and he crushed it. Tried to muscle it, but it was the wrong shot. I can understand how he forgot that you gotta hit a draw Their can't hit it Hit a faith that his caddy can't forget to grab. His caddy. Should have should have should have told him right before right before he swam. Remember, you gotta go. You gotta go left to right on. This one can't go right, The left, and instead he goes in the creek. And it was kind of just a foregone conclusion that that definitely a foregone conclusion. At that point, it's basic stuff. I mean, don't get me wrong. Yeah, I give him I am props for climbing was way back into the into the event. No question. He could have been road kill for the last two hours of the telecast. No doubt about it. You know, if not for him, we really would have had nothingto watch. No, I'm not here. T rip rip the young. Amazing. He's a good American player who's gonna play on Ryder Cup team that he's going away. He's good. I like Sanders game. I really do. But it's a stunning admission. It's I appreciate the candor. I almost don't want even. I don't even I don't even know if you say that. It's almost too honest, like Yeah, but it was the truth. But it's the truth. Because if you watch every other cement the mistake, of course it was a mental mistake. Have that 16th hole. The master's mental mistake when you play there for previous this is his fifth. Uh Fourth Masters. I believe right, So he played that whole four times the first year four times his hold on, Let me tell you I know the weather patterns are different. No, no, no. You up on that green 15 times in Masters competition, not to mention countless practice rounds, but here's the thing. How many times and I don't know this. How many times was Xander softly in contention? At the maid at the Masters. At that point, so his highest finish was this year are not actually he was tied for 2nd 2nd in 2019 Exactly know he's been there, so it's not like he's a great player, right? Right? I'm come on. You giving a guy passport, But what are you doing? I'm just just he was He had the adrenaline flowing man, but they see two May if the adrenaline's flowing Then you airmail that by 13 yards like Montreal, But it doesn't. It doesn't matter. It does. The club is the same. Right? No matter what it is. The club is the same. Which is how what shot? You're hitting? He hit a draw. That was his problem. If you had hit a fade would have been okay. You gonna cut it? It would've been okay. It would. It would have landed on the right side of the green and had a long putt He could, you know, to put it. For park stayed with right where he was. And when Matsuyama you know, Mrs that that put it means something on 18. So he just hit the wrong shot that drawing it, he cut it. Well, it's cutting it. He drawed. I got you. I got you. That's maybe you should just write hit straight. Although programmers the old adage they can't hit the ball straight pretty much. Okay, So we're gonna ask this of David Duval, who was going to join us former number one player in the world back in the day. You know, Tiger, and then he stripped it away for a little bit. And then you had B. J sing for a little bit. That was early two thousands. I guess during that period when the open championship, Duval a great player, and then he lost his game, but it really good analyst who we've had on before with the golf Channel. Mental mistake. That's unforgivable. You know what We'll talk about that shot Matsuyama will talk.

He could initiate the offense in the first quarter of whatever game it might be the better equipped, you'll be to take the ball with seven seconds to go on the road in a playoff game in three years from now or two years. Initiate for himself and make the bucket. Get the wind or initiate draw the defense kick to somebody for the winning basket. This is all part of the process is like a kid. You know, It's changed a little bit in baseball, but the old adage, would you want to get at least 1500 bats before you see the show? Just how big was this for arson to advance the round of sixteen in europa league the result of course and qualifying but also the fact that they came from behind. He's he's been very very rare season. I think he was only the second time where they went behind and then ended up winning again we against southampton in the league. The game saint. Mary's but apart from that every time they were behind every time they considered. I couldn't come back and win it so to do that logically would be huge tonight. He's a choose infectious at the training ground when he's playing but talent wise he's got a wonderful less or you can goes pass. Players phone can go either way. Turn the pace again. He works back. Saka was coming in it and those little round the corner obama gang trying to running behind whereas been fake. If all that good fly times just had no cutting edge shocker arsenal just getting it down today just but last questions about about soccer. Yes he in my mind. He is arsenal's best and most important and ask those third goal goal. That takes them to the next round sums it up one more the defender a couple of crossovers defended doesn't know whether he's going to go. Righto left come back onto onto left and picks a fight bullets. Miami Marlins: Derek Jeter, Kim Ng make baseball history
"I want to start with What I mentioned in the update, and that is the hiring of Qiming as the new GM off the Miami Marlins. And just off the top before we get to the historical nature of this and what it means for North American professional sports, moving forward. Just it is interesting to me. You know? Inevitably, the Rockies and the Marlins will be linked. Both coming into the league together. Iraqis and Marlins or not rivals by any stretch of the imagination. It's certainly if you are Iraqis Fan and the Marlins do something good. And the Rockies. Don't You inevitably draw that line between each other. And for the longest time, even though the Miami the now Miami Marlins used to be Florida Marlins have been more successful or tasted Oldham. Its success more than the Iraqis have. For the most part, the Marlins have been one of the worst run organizations. In all of baseball. We all remember Jeffrey Loria. Would buy a championship. Did buy a championship. 97 When Edgar Renteria got that hit off of Jose Mesa and the world Syriza's Sold everybody off. Because the wage bill would have been too high. But through that, by selling off all those players, he ended up getting a lot of really talented young players. Josh Beckett, Juan Pierre Carl Pavano. And they We're able to go win a championship, and then they were all sold off. Couple of ownership changes later, a monstrosity of a stadium poor attendance. Fire sales seemingly every other year incomes Derek Jeter and we thought that it was going to be more of the same. How in the world Is Derek Jeter. Going to Be the And he's not He runs the Marlins that he has a money man behind him. That helped him get the deal done as much money is Derek Jeter has made throughout his career. He can't outright by a major league baseball team himself, so he has kind of a What Silent partner that kind of front him the money, But he's the face. He's the guy that is making all the decisions. And it's something that We really haven't seen too much. And North American pro sports. We've seen plenty become G m's even presidents. And I guess that might be Derek Jeter's technical title, but two Be The owner. Of a team like the true owner, not nine. Justin Timberlake buying Air Peyton Manning's wife, buying shares of the Memphis Grizzlies. Like it's his team. And then they promptly had a fire sale. After he took over. We thought, okay, same old Marlins. Quietly. They have become one of the more Progressive Four thinking which I guess are It basically means the same thing. Progressive four thinking. Competent. Organizations in baseball.
In Pennsylvania, Fracking and Renewables Compete for the Future
"Year's presidential election. As I am sure you've heard It's It's also also one one of of the the key key states states for for the the fracking fracking industry industry up up and and down down the the ballot. ballot. As As I'm I'm sure sure you you have have also also heard heard Fracking Fracking for for gas gas has has long long been been thought thought of of as as a a bridge to get us to wherever the cost of wind and solar Has made those renewables as cheap as gas and his marketplaces. Scott Song reports. A couple of new studies suggest that time may already be here. It just gets cheaper and cheaper to make solar panels and wind turbines, says analyst Marlene Metical at Deloitte. The actual cost of the components are declining, but also the efficiency. Of the technology is increasing, so the wind turbines are now becoming larger and larger, and as a result, solar and wind are now the cheapest ways to add power generation in most of the world, says a report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Another report from the investment bank, Lazard says building and maintaining the solar or wind farm costs as much as keeping an existing gas plant running, all of which threatens the market for natural gas. Nico Sappho said. The Center for Strategic and International Studies, says pressure's mounting for folks in the gas business. This may be an industry that could be shrinking in 10 15 20 years so How can I be sure that my project is the one that survives? So it puts you in that mindset rather than a mindset where everything is growing their space for everyone. A typical natural gas power plant last 20 years or so bye, then wind and solar will be thriving. So some gas plants will have to shut down early, predicts Sue Tierney at the analysis group consultancy. You would expect to see disclosure statements by companies that there will be much slower utilization rates or a truncated life that's being discussed in a lot of places. Because of that, Tierney thinks a lot of money invested in the natural gas business won't be made back. I'm Scott Tongue for

"Jordan dot com slash subscribe subscribing to. The show is absolutely free. It just means that you get all of the latest episodes downloaded automatically to your podcast player. So you don't miss a single thing and now back to our show with John Tierney. I do find this to be interesting. And of course. It's one of the reasons that you have theocratic countries in the first place. They say look this place safer you know because everybody believes the same thing namely that if you do something bad you're going to be struck down by a higher power. Sometimes that higher power is just the religious police in the case like Saudi Arabia or some of these other countries but it seems to be working in some way now. That's not to say it's a great place to live as a result that just WanNa be clear here going back to criticism at work and things like this. The negativity at work you did discuss the criticism sandwich why this is actually worse than mere criticism itself. Worse than no praise at all as well. So can we talk about this? Very common sort of Management WanNA one technique it turns out to be Baloney. Criticism is a great way to get people to improve but most people don't know how to give it properly including people who who give bad news all the time like doctors and and in the book you write about how you know the study how doctors give bad news and also how managers to evaluations and there was this classic technique from the seventies and eighties called the criticism. Sandwich the IDEAS. That you start off with a lot of. Nice praise for the employees and tell them what he's done right then you slip in some criticism than yet a little more praise and at the end and that's it and it feels good to the manager to do that because most of us will ask people if you have to criticize someone if you have to give them good news and bad news you know what you rather do. I and people say I'd rather give the good news I it's a lot more plus when way to start a conversation but when you ask people had they'd like to receive a mix of news people say I'd rather get the bad news first and that also turns out to be the best way for them to get the whole picture. Because what happens when you give someone a bunch of good news and say you've been doing this right this right in that right but here's where you fell short as soon as that criticism heads because of the negative effects so powerful. It's just completely engages. Your brain you tend to forget everything that happened before that another example is when something bad happens like your computer. Crashes Tech people say that you know someone calls up in a panic my computer crash. What can I do this I will? What were you doing before it crashed? And people can't remember because that bad events is jolted the brain so much and they just actually lost the memory of the good stuff before the brain was so distracted by this so either the manager gives out this praise and then a bit of criticism and then a little bit crazy and then. He thinks that he's done his job in the in. The worker should feel good because mostly what he gave was praised. But all the worker can remember. He's forgotten all the praise came. He just remembers that criticism. So it's better in general to get the criticism out of the way early. I mean you might WanNa start the session by saying you know you've done a good job this year and we're looking forward to next year so the you know worker knows he's not about to be fired. In general you want to get to the criticism I because then and then once they hear that then the brain is on high alert and then it'll actually taken the praise you know. Then you say okay. You did that all these other things. Great and here's how we're going to build on your strengths to make next year even better in a so you're basically pointing out what's wrong and that's certainly going to stay with him. But you're also throwing in all the good things and in general you try to remember the rule of fours we call it that it takes four good things to overcome one bad thing. So don't be afraid of over praising people in the book we talk about this kind of funny experiments where they show that you can never over praise people these things where you know even the most insincere kind of flattery works so so you gotta give some bad news. Gino throwing lots of good news with it too. But after you've got the bad out of the way we'll throw this formula in the worksheets for this episode. So people have to rewind. Go wait so what's formula again again. We'll We'll throw it in the worksheet which are always available in the show so that you can stop using the compliment sandwich which actually makes no sense. It's actually a criticism sandwich and praise people and criticize them in a way. That's actually effective and doesn't just result in it bouncing around in their brain and then shooting out there other ear. There's another experiment that you detail in the book that I thought was Fascinating. Cockroach apple juice experiment kind of details. The idea that. There's an old saying a spoonful of tar will damn a barrel of honey but a spoonful of honey does nothing for a barrel full of Tar. Can you explain that in deconstruct that and tell us about what the cockroach apple juice experiment actually shows in illustration of this? I mean that's saying is a great example of the negative effect. The bad is so much stronger than good. That one little bit of Tar Ruins the whole barrel honey and it doesn't work the other way. I mean that's an old folk saying that the people known for a while but it was demonstrated some clever experiments where they would show people this glass of apple juice and they will put a sterilized cockroach in it and people knew sterilize but after they saw that the people refused to drink apple juice wouldn't trick it from that class. It's so revolves them that if they were offered a fresh glass with apple juice poured from a fresh carton had nothing to do with that cockroach at all. They still refuse to drink it. Their feeling of disgust was so strong that nothing could overcome it. But imagine for minute. You know that there's some disgusting food this on a plate and then someone offered to put a your favorite food a piece of molten chocolate cake. Say and they put that on top of the disgusting food. Would that make you willing to eat the disgusting food and the answer is no of course because it just doesn't work the other way that you know. The negative effect was enforced as a researcher. Put it. There's no anti cockroaches at a cockroach can ruin a really good food but there's nothing that can rescue a bad food at all. There's nothing so good that can overcome your revulsion at it and you see this in lots of religious traditions to where it takes you know years of devotion decades of devotion in order to become a saint or to become holier become enlighten but it can all be undone and you know with one bad act. One demon appears temp sue. And you've suddenly damned so there is this idea. That bad is so much stronger than good that it just takes one little bit of to ruin you whereas it just doesn't work the other way there isn't one good thing and that's I mean that's true in some ways of life where one act of infidelity can destroy a marriage but there isn't any one good thing you can do. The won't guarantee that marriage will last forever and another example is that there's The psychologist who discovered the negative effect. You Know My Coffee Roy by Meister. He noticed that for most things in psychology. When you're describing emotions and events you dealing with opposite you're happier sad you're relaxed or you're anxious you're angry. You're but he noticed. The word trauma now. Trauma is a bad event that affects you long afterwards and he was trying to think well. What's the opposite of trauma? What say good event that would you know last with you you know for decades and keep affecting you and there is no word that means you have trauma. 'cause there's no good event that has that lasting impact. I mean you know one traumatic experience. You know sexual experience of some violence. I mean your youth constrict with some people. You know their whole live. But no one goes through adulthood fixated on that wonderful day at the zoo. It just doesn't you know the bad is stronger that way now again you know and I and we do try to help people in the book that these things can be overcome that most people who undergo trauma actually do. It has much more You Know Bad van has so much more impact at the time and that's it has bad effects at the time in the message of our book is that bad is strong. Good can prevail because trauma victims typically respond in so many little positive ways to to that event that over the long haul. The good overwhelms the bad that you know. Any one bad event is much stronger but there's so many more good things that's how good prevails is with intelligence and by force of numbers that you just do so many good things you know. That's why the world keeps getting better. There's lots of bad stuff that happens but on a typical day. There's a lot more than four good things happening for every bad one. That's why life gets better now. How is this reflected in our language? You'd mentioned before there's no such thing as the opposite of trauma in our language you mentioned this in the book as well. There's no opposite of accident. There's no opposite of murderer or killer right. There's no opposites to these words. These things are strongly represented in the way that we speak so it's kind of coded into the human hate over using this was like coated into our DNA. Right it's coded into our society right. Well I mean. Language is is a great way to reflect that and Mike Hawthorne by Muster Look for examples. Instead of Paul Rosen and they who also worked on this and they looked for examples of words that have no opposites the singular nouns they call them and they found that there are only about a half dozen them accident. And you know they. Most people couldn't think of a word meaning the opposite of risk which is a risk that something that battle happen. What's the word meaning the chance? Something good will happen and an accident is another one and they found that there were just a handful these things that they were all bad things that there was no opposite for that. So that showed you that you know that. Unique power of bad. In those circumstances another linguistic things been noticed and this is not just an English languages around the world that there are a lot more words for bad things than for good things a lot. More different words for pain than for pleasure for instance. And that's because these things are so important us. Our brain is so conditioned to focus on them that we come up with lots to describe in a different kinds of pain different kinds of this. It's so important to us. That may sound a bit grim but the good news is and we've tapped called the pollyanna principle. Which is that people who study the way. Language is used have also noticed that although they're more individual words for bad things more ways to you know more synonyms for pain people in the language that we use all day long. We use a lot more positive words than negative wars. And that's kind of our brains mechanism for overcoming the power of bad that were accentuating the positive by talking more about it and I think the there's a good.
Bernie Sanders won't admit it, but socialism is a liability
"He calls himself a democratic socialist so why did he start the democratic Socialist Party run on the democratic socialist line you know that's socialist run before including even against Franklin Roosevelt midwesterners Wisconsin Bernie Sanders doesn't right is endemic to run as a democratic socialist nobody ever asked him why he doesn't run as a democratic socialist instead he's trying to take down take over the already miserable Democrat party but I wonder about the what's the problem Mr calls grin I want you to clear a few lines I want any Bernie Sanders supporters know fakes real well just hang up on you to call this program Intel millions of people around the nation why you support Bernie Sanders and why we should support brings giving you an opportunity now that you'll never have again your candidates too much of a coward to come on this program or any of my programs that may be maybe one or two or three of his supporters will call in and explain themselves and explain what it is exactly Bernie Sanders once for the country I suspect we'll get nobody some challenging you to call I think it's important that you explain yourselves Bernie Sanders will come on this program because we have a serious discussion about his ideology and the declaration and the constitution and whether or not all of them can coexist which course they can't I want to know where the authority comes from to nationalize public utilities in nationalized healthcare whatever it is you don't cite some Supreme Court decision where's the authority in the constitution they never say to print quick decisions when they lose so I cite them when you win I'm talking about the constitution by the way speaking of that the constitution my wife and I saw the Clarence Thomas movie this weekend Mr petition it was fabulous absolutely fabulous and I learned more about Clarence Thomas then in before even having read his book because he elaborates on points one of the things you really gonna love about this I don't know if they're gonna run it additional days in the theaters or not I mean after all he's not was bare Ginsburg with a run it for months and Hollywood gets behind it and so forth but he he speaks in a straightforward common sense way it tells you exactly what took place in his life during the hearings and so forth and at the end of the movie everybody applauded uploaded this is a giant speaking of giants Clarence Thomas is a giant he believes in the family he believes in fidelity to the declaration and the constitution he believes in those words natural law natural rights which mean what god given unalienable rights god given puts things in proper perspective not Bernie Sanders given that Elizabeth Warren given god given and of course for the rest of left the secularists the status they cannot accept that they rejected otherwise their entire ideology falls apart first of all there's god can have that and secondly there the limits placed in the constitution on their power can have that in third this this huge problem called unalienable right I keep hearing these guys on the Senate floor Democrats I think we call them house managers another Democrat managers every Republican voted against it they're Democrat manage they're Democrat handlers the Democrat propagandists thrown through talk about democracy trump is a threat to our democracy in a democracy we have transparency and of course it's the opposite of everything they've done but that's not the point there's a huge distinction between a democracy and Republic democracy is extremely dangerous we've talked about this but underscore the point if you believe an unalienable rights any democracy they can't work together because that means people can vote to deny you your unalienable rights the whole purpose of a constitutional Republic is to secure your constitutional right to protect the from tyranny to any of the mob you see during the mob right now from tier any the few from whatever the Tierney is the constitution is like a protective shield to protect the individual on the civil society so they keep time in a democracy and direct elections in this sort of thing can I expand on this more tonight on live in TV but let me just touch this because we have a very odd thing going on in this country and one of the few who's willing to speak out against this I am not a populist populism which really had its first first the sort of systemic viewer eight or more tangible approach was in the eighteen late eighteen sixties early eighteen seventies even at a popular Sir people's party back then you see the distinction between those who believe in individual liberty in those who believe in centralized government becomes ambiguous if you're a populist what does that mean the people should rule now is some of the constitution says the people should rule they set up the Senate so the state legislatures choose the senators they know how to set it up if they wanted the people to vote that was change for the seventeenth amendment they set up the presidency so it's not a direct election so there's an electoral college what did they do that because they didn't want a popular quote unquote democracy a mob Akhras's the courts lifetime appointments I believe term limits but what I believe is beside the point they set up a court lifetime upon the only directly elected body is the house of representatives part of the Congress that's it if they believed in populism why would there be a Senate if they believe in populism why would you vote for judges would that be great not be disaster the states they have in most states it's a disaster you know more in Florida were driving through and it's election time for their judges vote for any robot ski District Court is nobody knows who the hell are need to brush it any Grabowski is then I reading his opinions now we're not a pure democracy we're not even a democracy and no this isn't about populism it's about constitutionalist and constitutionalism is about a polling individual right liberty god given right so you need a governing body unity governing system in a civil society who's going to call the shots is a diverse society there's a lot of people is a lot going on he got a lot of states and so forth so the constitution is the roadmap the constitution is what lays it out now if you read rediscovering Americanism by the way Mr producer I told the publisher to send a copy to every Supreme Court justice after I watch this Lawrence Thomas movie I'm sure they're all read it very carefully anyway so if you understand progressivism they have to reject our founding documents they have to reject because the emphasis is put on the individual and the individual's relationship with god progressivism doesn't put an emphasis on individualism it puts an emphasis on collectivism and its relationship to government they're two completely different ideology and so when they talk in Iowa about very Sanders is leading in the polls her Bernie Sanders will win and so forth and you have so called populist in our country some on television some just in Congress some who are egg heads whatever and they're out there talking about would populace and so forth were but we'll wait is there populism and and Bernie Sanders populism begin Mister but if somebody needs to read a trip right a treatise on this because I can't figure it out and either can they which is why more and more of these so called conservative populist sound more more like Bernie Sanders or a more more sympathetic to all the Democrat party trying to stop Bernie Sanders well he's not even a Democrat and what was me Bernie Sanders is a victim who gives a crap let them brutalize and let them realize each other it's bizarre it's bizarre in this appeal unfortunately is an appeal that goes beyond our borders autocracy has an appeal particularly among free people why because they never believe that it's going to devour their lifestyle and of course their lifestyle is the target think about government run healthcare for a minute let's say you can't get the drug that you want were you gonna go to get it how you go to appeal it let's say you have some horrific disease and it's very very expensive if you're not on the list at HHS or the CDC you're not on the list that is the disease you don't get we see these things happening in Britain we see these things happening in Germany and France all around the EO we see these things happening in Canada and on top of that what else do we see they smother innovation life saving drugs and as many of you know it is I witness will witnessing today people who are extremely ill extremely ill many would do anything for a life saving drug and I want to take this one step further our minds our intellect our brains are built to find solutions government is built to smother them redistribution of wealth radical egalitarianism that's not about allowing the human mind to develop knowledge to grow intellectually in any field science is what have you it's mother's it substitutes the will of the politician the will of the bureaucrats the will of the mob where the middle of the the the the will of the tyrant so it also tries to control what's between your ears what you think what you say what you can develop and create and produce it's anti human being it's anti compassion think about it I'll be right back then when

"Grizzly bears have stood atop the evolutionary food. Chain with unchallenged dominance now for the first time ever humans will be entering the bears territory and take them on in a competition like none never attempted man versus bear is an all new competition competition series. Pitting humans against Grizzly. Now Hell Yeah. I don't understand though. I don't understand we're going. We're going to lose unless we have gone so Brandon Tierney. Explain to me how it is that this works well by the way it seems as if based on the sound report Lisa from your rent books season. Tillman Oh man. That's the hit already as well. Dan How you doing guys. What's up buddy? Hey Yeah the thing is though we tried this shark. Swimming against Michael Phelps the failed you got you gotta do it well you can't. You can't be simulations people have to be mall. That's that's what we're hoping for You get chilled but with selves. And I'm not a lot of these interviews by the way it's full shot that offended The this is no manipulation. She and this is not like feeder. The mind let's try to create something that's incredibly contrived and try to sell this judith elite. twenty-one anyone insane people willingly signing up to Kota this remote outpost in Utah called Bear Mountain to battle bears It's it's it is I mean. There's there's falls advertising guys what you just read is exactly the premise of the show. There's five challenges and each challenge replicates a behavior in the wilderness and Strap in and locks because you're GONNA get tossed around Waco it's giving. It's it's black belts its enemy fighters. It's marathon runners honors. But we have skeptical billy here and I always have to see the floor. Skeptical Billy I don't i. He made a face for some reason. No I I love the idea of the show. It just seems like it's very weighted towards the bears winning lake if this was man versus bear there should be man challenges in their start texting bear or hey binge-watch shows shows on Netflix. As Fair that I hear you now lovey-dovey tell you this okay. If if it was now how many times we do it sometimes. There's well just as you as you're doing a segment radio. How many people misuse? The word literally happens all the time. I say that for a reason because this his literally banned persons there. Yeah I went for. Here's a little nuance. There's a little context and the context is is. We just created this premise. And we said okay men We're GONNA go with a field and here's a fourteen fourteen hundred pounds minded and a half foot Risley's there let's start rolling not only would not have the second season we wouldn't have a second segment liability issues ghetto. Get Open personally to what we do is while they do compete. They compete against the bears really also a human versus human WPRO points. What I'm GonNa take you through? What are the exercise right? So there's something called the mountain and climb atop is twenty two foot wooden posts. It kind of looks like a mountain and on the other side is bart four hundred pound bear. Now the human gets this Almost like if you're going bungee jumping or we're ZIP lining. There's a a harness around the waist and the size and the metal cord but don't fly ability by the way and board is on the other end about fifty yards away at one scene engages with the role breath. He'd literally pulls you like I'm telling guys these people could they take. They went there. Were medical team. There were there. Were metrics on site for a reason. Because I saw people go faith I can to wooden posts have body contorted. Their body contorted in a way apply ability. That's not been for the human body like the really are competing with the bears but there's a safety precaution built-in Career Lena. Clearly now rock on you know this is awesome. This is awesome. They're bears are actually pulling human beings at regular bear strength back. My God you gotTa hit this. Is it for you brand seriously. WHO's like the bad ass bear? Because you've got a team of bears over there. And it's like American gladiators. Everybody knew you didn't want to mess Malibu Malibu. Well it's it's boy and they're all distinctly different listeners. Part there's honey intertank and honey bumps role. She's female she's the small. She's about five hundred eighty pounds so in his in his increasingly heights which involves a forty dollars. Pursuit listened to this guy's a forty off pursuit through an obstacle course where the person has to go up over around. I mean it's ridiculous if they actually get through that unscathed and that's fifty cents. The they get to the base of tree which is third and they have to climb thirty seven feet high. Hi and ring a bell now. This timed out. If they do that and say three seven seconds their crew thirty seven points the next human goes if they go to uh-huh say fifty two seconds they get pardon me if they get in They would actually worse so they would lose points there so there's a human scoreboard with an interaction in heavy interactions with with the bear. If that makes sense count hold on brain in telling me that these humans have to try to climb a tree faster than honey bump. Yeah they have you. Have you seen clips. Did they send you the clips come. It's all the clubs. Check it out and there was talking about this because I'm watching the clips in which there's like a dude in a metal ball in the barrel rowling and pushing the metal ball around with the dude inside. Tell me gets in there. No coffer now that I'm not going to celebrate radar for. Just tell me he might get in there he might have left the door slightly ajar. Could Boston and make it interesting. I mean of course I'm here to promote the show and I'm not GonNa pick the things that are true that that particular real fast and that's called human prey okay. That's for final one. That's the fifth one. That's the culmination. The human it gets in the ball titanium bowl nine feet in height twelve hundred pounds in weight. Okay and the wave position. It's it's at the apex. The little of a little descending hill all right and bought and you see this into Clint Barton literally comes up and smashes it repeatedly. Oh excuse. Breathing ought to be spitting on. It's insane what the cumin. What the human spider go left in White Okay and board is trying to go? north-and-south and eventually shrank balk. Wins out. And what happens once. A human inevitably goes down to spray which is twenty feet below the starting boy. They'd CONNEC rattled because they see it as crazy arena prenatal. You realize that you just took atmosphere from American. gladiators introduced favors ears to it in horse of a different color. Congratulations man I mean man. Bear man versus bear premieres tonight nine PM on discovery. How'd you choose the bears? They didn't say actually this is. Why Olympia that you're GONNA have to check it out? This is show your Dirksen Hollywood bear. So they're saying they were recovered when they were cubs and they live on a sanctuary in Utah their owner dog and they're married obviously there on the fawn sanctuary. So there they were in the movie with Brad Pitt. One of them was in gamma throws twelve hundred hundred. Yeah Oh yeah Oh Brandon Brandon. Do you have the revenue share revenue. US Lawn also which team Gronk on Gronk is on team tank. Man I mean think about it. GRONK is on Kim Tech. We don't have the bathroom. Whatever that will be sick Leo Venus? So what do you think you know you. You got a multi famous famous accurate. It's insane man now. The only thing that this right accomplishment. Let's do this. The next grade accomplishment is to get the jets going but I got one question for you all right. 'cause all the nonsense. All delays rhetoric. DNC shakes the hollow. Shouting being being honest do you believe your face. Don't believe in case. Do you believe in Sam Darnold as a superstar. Yes or no what are you doing talking about men versus bear. And you're talking about the jets. I gotta get my feelings. I do not believe in Sam Darnold. He's not consistent enough. I do love Adam gays. He's a friend of mine. Do not like the honors. That organization is poorly run. The gentle never get effect. Sorry say what we were talking about was plenty interesting. What are you doing? Wanted suggesting. Get back to the best. "Contractually obligated to keep that statue as it is. And if you're wondering anatomically correct those statues the news I saw it at the ACC championship game. Miami went to and I had to take a picture of it. My God man. It's huge. You'd think that there wouldn't be a lot of decisions to coming on this statue. But how do you think they settled on the tie that he's wearing. Because it's like a stripe thing but it's like diagonal like it's not colored any of the statue so you don't have to decide like I want to be in a blue shirt I wanna read your like. Athletes is easy because they just you put their Jersey number eight but how do you think they decided. The Tie should have this pattern on and not like polka-dot or solid college. I never noticed. The tie on account of the testicles didn't tepper also claim to have invented the phrase. It is what it is. He did he did. He did invent it not just claiming he you. Why would you WANNA take ownership over that that phrase? No one should want to have that phrase on that. Why would that be a source of pride for you? Roy's on my tombstone. "The feud between Dabo swinney and all finebaum. The shock it Ron Rivera would be fired. I was really surprised that people were just. They were indignant and you got a lot of NFL insider siders going. I can't believe it that this guy who goes seven two nine six seven eight and one got fired after nine years. 'cause they got a new billionaire in charge. WHO's not here for that? Who knew the country love Ron Rivera? Leave -able you remember. I'm old enough to remember that time. and Ron Rivera his life where he was this close to being fire. Manning became river riverboat Ron because he'd been still conservative and scared even though he had known they started going forward on four town got a super bowl he avoided being fired by just going forward. Sometimes we'll get to Ron Rivera in a second and whether James Harden is the most excellent hated player in the history of sports because it's just based on game and I haven't seen anything like what he's doing in terms of scoring and it seems like everyone is against him and if he scores Sixty points a game they just WanNa laugh at. The two. Didn't get less. I also haven't seen anything like what he's doing because I'm simply not watching anymore. I believe I'll put. The poll Guillermo is James Harden the the reason that ratings are down in the NBA. They the other problem is it's not just hard. And it's the Rockets Organization they love to audit. They love to go back and Redo things like enough seriously enough with the Houston Rockets. I am tired of them. Trying to get victories that they did not earn. Okay but wait a minute they. It got a bad call last night James Harden dunked. What do you mean? They didn't earn it they dunked and put it through the net and went through the net. which is councillor baskin? They didn't allow because it came out on the other side and appeared to bounce away and then there was all sorts of challenge confusion. This might be the first game that actually gets played over in about ten years. The rockets just want to win. I mean that's it. I'm saying they might play the last few minutes of that game over again because of Allegri just call was no I know but the rockets rockets did listen. They had a big lead even with that bad call. They had a big lead. They choke down the stretch of. I'm the Spurs. I just give the rockets that gave the Spurs. No they won the Game Spurs. Aren't doing anything this year. The Spurs are incentivized to lose because they want to get a better draft pick and who wants to hang out with that organization for another seven and a half minutes just give them the victory. That's it's what I do. If I'm to say that it's that organization is anxious man. They are annoying. Wow you have reached a special place in God's calling you uh-huh and you work in the same city as the Astros. And he's not saying it about them. You've you've arrived void by really he bad place. When Stu gods is hitting you with untruth do you name? They put it on the poll. Do you need to reassess every one of your life choices if stu gods calls you in the NBA is making up these fake tournaments just to give the rockets a title so they shut up. Are you annoyed by them to anyone. Not annoyed by them. I it for myself. I've got a legitimate gripe if any of US had dunked and it had been overruled an agreed just fashion. We would not be happy about that. It's a legitimate complaint if you will not allow this whoa if you will not allow them this complaint what complaint are you going to allow thirteen. Don't blow thirteen point anyway. I guess a bad team Dan if this was their first first complaints okay. We'd be okay with it but it's not all they do is complain in today's NBA. Thirteen points disappear with like two trips down the cords and it seems mathematically impossible thirteen point lead in the NBA means nothing. I mean against the Spurs though as a bad team go ahead and Emma spurrier all right. Daria what Aldridge the Rosen. They have to Dan Moody Gay Wandering around out there. You name name a spur. Dan is just terrible guys. Picking up with a bookmark where he left off yesterday. Why would you plow? Probably flaunt that particular ignorant. If the Senate Tonio Spurs I don't WanNa hear about it it's been great for a long time to God I know but today's NBA. You can erase that lead now. The rockets are a much better team. Should have won the game regardless of the call them asking for victories. ABSURD WANNA play the final seven and a half and it's go ahead play it again. It's blowing cares isn't the Spurs made twenty two consecutive playoff appearances. Yep last year many would say Gregg Popovich is greatest coaching job. Ever I mean but this this year not so good. They're annoying too though they are so. I don't know who I think is more annoying. God horrible game. Do you find the spurs annoyed. Just too much enough. Okay good good. I'm glad that you offered more elaboration. They're they're just too much enough. Doesn't explain them in why you find them annoying. I mean sometimes less is more you know what I mean. Both with them and me speaking which get Outta Outta here you go with live is what I wanted to get to is now. I can't do it though because I just sent him away. Because you'll catch twenty two are we're not you don't WanNa talk to you. Catch twenty two. The rockets will blow that lead closed door. I was going to ask him. Billy why it is the place I wanted to start the show before Stu gods decided name a spur Daria National Sports. He's never cared less about what he's doing and he's he's never been worse now he's ever gabled more beginner that's that's pretty much. That's par for the course. Isn't it right. Knows less than he ever has spends more than he ever has wants more money than he ever has for knowing wing less than he ever had because he's spending too much betting on games didn't ask for any of this. I mean honestly you're on two hundred seventy one radio the station name. Spur is this is how little he cares right now about sports and then I go the other one. And why are they annoying They're they're just too much too much. I mean why do we. Why do we have microphones around here? This how they're doing that. I mean God you you think billy spending his evenings watching spurs say they're annoying because he's in the content business who knows he's paying attention in our kiss he really is. Well speaking of which I wanted to start the show before we get derailed by incompetent. which is I need to understand? What the nature of this fantasy league controversy? UCSB around here. Chris thanks billy should be the lobos fantasy commissioner. Everyone is mad at billy about something you have. Billy made a trade would you GOTTI. Who is that guy? Juju Gotti a longtime fan of our show who has become a friend and is known for having a Greg. Cody Cody Tattoo. And he also now has a tattoo of Dan's face a stugotz army tattoos superfan Super Guy but when it comes to fantasy football. He's the worst he. He offers the worst trades. They're all super one-sided it's super unfair any doesn't stop doing this and apparently even though we're in the fantasy playoffs now now there's no trade deadline because are awful. Commissioner Lorenzo is law Ron. I'm sorry displays the behavior that of which I don't understand and why you guys put Lorenzo in charge of nor wants his job because it's there's eighteen deems in this league. It's hard to wrangle everybody. But Billy this was premeditated yesterday as the playoffs are finally set and now people who all of a sudden didn't care care because we want to win this fake trophy which is very real instill in my garage by the way anyone wants it win. This league helped me out but people are Karen and billy did not make the playoffs because the and billy accepts the Super Super One sided trade from Juju gotta who's in the playoffs. He'd straightening Mark Ingram and drew brees. And he's getting back. Basically Sammy Watkins. Who I believe I? They caught a pass in the first week of the season. And that's it didn't catch a ball last week. Look at his output from week. One and I guarantee you. You combine all the other weeks of the season any fallen chiefs. How are you one of the best college receivers I've ever seen and the start of that team? Being good at football clemson tigers were laughing stock. For how long before Sammy Watkins. Thing Clemson was the thing they would always joke in big games to. He can't get catch on the chiefs. He softened the back to the fantasy thing the one thing I will say in the defensive billy is we'd have a group chat that has been based for this fantasy like that we start at the beginning and it has it's it's been emptied the entire season last night it blew up. Yeah because Billy's Stupak brought us together. We were talking about people who are passionate and we built a unified in Dr Disdain for Juju call and text from Greg Cody just saying that this is an outlay greg going directly to us. I I'm like Greg I don't care about any of this. Did he went straight. He went straight to me to make some sort of executive ruling. The Hell's wrong with your father. They don't ask he's yesterday with his back thing. He wanted to come over again in his. Stay away your old. He wanted to help you move and I'm and I'm like I'm I'm moved in but I'm like you know. I'm conducting this shed and he just wants to be God love him. He wants to be a part of it. He likes helping but he's just old any so sufficient with putting stuff together. He thinks he's so handy he's he's everything it's weird or your father has a lot of stugatz in which is that dunning. Kruger thing that we're always talking about which his delusional thoughts that you're great at everything when you're not great at anything as a great trade by billy getting all up in arms about who cares. We made the play. I made the playoffs offs in this league with Andy Dalton as my quarterback suddenly we care and the spurs are just absolutely annoying less is more billions right and Dan listen. It's a little too early for follow. Follow up she has a lot of questions in that segment. Billy was preparing Donlevatar. Did you ever have a crush on cartoon character. Oh can I go back doc. This isn't like Jessica Rabbit who framed Roger Rabbit. Yes yes I married to. Roger added even though he was a bunny and she was a humanoid but they were both cartoons guides had a crush on betty rubble. Who Will Wow ah prize nomination from STU gods dirty dirty inter.

Israelis vote in repeat election centered on PM Netanyahu
"To get but let's talk for a second Israel's election self coming up in next forty eight hours is Israel's second election within like six months or eight months according to Reuters Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu stepped up a bit for far right votes two days before a closely contested election convening his cabinet in the occupied west bank and having it approved legal status for an unauthorized outpost okay first of all there's nothing under international law that says that Israel is barred from building in the so called west bank injured and Samaria those are at best a disputed territories into his caretaker government met on Sunday in the Jordan Valley a largely agricultural area which announced on Tuesday he tends to annex if he wins a fifth term Israeli cabinet and barely held sessions in the west bank now in reality so is that election gambit of course it is but is it illegal now I not only is it not illegal his opponents in the same exact race are celebrating the fact that Netanyahu is talking about doing something with regard to the Jordan Valley the Jordan Valley strategically important area for Israel and always has been and this bizarre notion that Netanyahu is annexing the territory as opposed to applying Israeli sovereignty annexation and applying Israeli sovereignty are not the same thing. is gonna Mitchell bard right about the sort of stuff just need to know the statement was widely misreported as calling for annexation of the territory but he chose words carefully. he said applying sovereignty which Ariel Davidson of the federalist nodes has a different meaning a nation cannot an excellent over which already has sovereign claims meeting that is not that this land is owned by the Palestinians and never was owned by the Palestinians this land is owned by the Jordanians was lost in a war and then Israel to get over. as with other issues related to the status of the disputed territories is as much a part the wisdom of such a move may be debated however it is important to know some of the facts about the Jordan Valley that there were settlements in the Jordan Valley dating all the way back to nineteen sixty seven then any prospective peace deal those areas would end up in Jewish territory you talk about being who is the sponsor of the Oslo Accords also wanted those areas to be under Israeli control because the Jordan Valley has to be under Israeli control or the Jordan River could be cut off from Israel's population. it is also true they say that the blue and white party missing out his chief opponents in this election actually support him. according to the according to an interview in The New York Times the blue and white party supports his basic idea here early in the Jerusalem post they say the blue white party said was pleased to see he was adopting and would like to plan for recognizing the Jordan Valley so the international media trying to turn the Israeli election into a referendum on Netanyahu Netanyahu is the obstacle to peace of only got rid of Netanyahu everything would be all better and they headed out for Netanyahu's and broke a bone headed out for Netanyahu and Barak Obama headed out from Seattle because you want to see a widely reshipment least in which Israel's influence was diminished Mysterons influence was maximized. no one was not he's not lying about this is pretty obvious he kept talking about Ron being a well respected regional power and how he saw the Israel Palestinian issue as one of the key wheels to turn in order to achieve some sort of balance of power in the Middle East now as we've seen that alternate out then that all turned out to be a bunch of nonsense the fact is that Israel and Palestinians have nothing to do with the broader Middle East Israel has made no concessions to the Palestinian authority over the last several years now should day and yet war has not really broken out there specifically because the Saudis are not interested in backing the Palestinians neither are the Jordanians neither are the Egyptians the only people who are interested in pushing a Palestinian terrorist aspirations are exactly the sorts of groups the back terrace in first place for talking of the Turkish government we talk about the Iranian government. in any case writer suggest at this new meeting the government announced it had approved missing out his proposal to turn the outpost above all get a call into a formal settlement twenty years after he was stabilised as a farming community in the Jordan Valley without state sanction. it requires a tension meddling in public remarks of the session Netanyahu said it would be up to the government formed after Tuesday's election to grant final approval. now according to the according to Reuters this is all about how brutal Netanyahu is appealing to far right voters in the cruise supporters deterrent large numbers Netanyahu has been portraying himself as being in lockstep with ultra nationalists of retaining west bank land through annexation. well no that was always we could plan from the could platform was that Israel would retain an enormous amount of the Jewish settlement activity in any peace deal well it is also the perspective a blue and white. it's amazing to watch as the media get an attempt to turn it in Yahoo into the villain here as opposed to the reality the peace deal died a long time ago it died because the Palestinians refused no less than four or five times any effort at peace their views the original Oslo Accords any refused a deal tried to cut by Bill Clinton in two thousand between Ehud Barak and Yasser Arafat Arafat walked away from the table and started intifada there's a ten two piece of our Sharon that was bought out by the Palestinians and would only tried one that was blocked out by Palestinians. Yahoo himself in his first go round in the nineties signed over eighty percent of your day and Samaria in the in the wye river accords but always the problem for the media is that Israelis to intransigent not that its opponents are terrorists. which is the real problem here. opinion polls right now so that we could and its main challenger the centrist blue and white party are running neck and neck. there is no real division on on these issues now blue and white may approach this more slowly and maybe this is an election gambit again the this bizarre idea that your going to be able to cut a different foreign policy of blue and white is not for now the election polls are showing this thing very very close the latest election because the way that works in Israel is there are a variety of parties they get elected to Knesset you have to have at least four seats to sit in the Knesset which is a hundred twenty seats I need to form a majority by putting together a coalition now last time Netanyahu did have enough for a majority the problem was a big door Lieberman who leads one of the parties the Israeli Tina party. refused to join the coalition without earning some concessions from it you know who sent it to ya who simply called an election it looks like the results are gonna be pretty similar right now blue and white are neck and neck with we could but the other parties that would side with Netanyahu in the elections are winning more seats so you mean which is the the sort of right wing alternative to Likud is supposed to win anywhere between seven and ten seats in the in the various polls labor has turned into a non party which is unbelievable a labor used to be the the other major party in Israel all the way up until about nineteen eighty with the election Megan labor had every prime minister of Israel and now they are winning forty six seats in the selection which is truly incredible. so we'll see how this ends up. if you had to lay odds right now you would suggest an anti who probably retains the prime ministership and that again is not because of the people of Israel have fallen for Tierney or anything like that that's because everyone in Israel agrees on security and a no at this point that regardless of whether they nominate Matignon who to leave the government or whether they nominate any guns to lead the government that security is only going to be a shirt by taking a strong stand against terrorism and by refusing to make deals with the Palestinian authority nonetheless there is this bizarre notion in the media that whenever there's an impasse in the Middle East the only liberal democracy in the area is involved in a long piece in The Washington Post about Robert Kagan it's a truly egregious please. Israel and the decline of the liberal order into it really quite disgusting piece and the idea is that BB Netanyahu siding with the nationalists as opposed to liberal internationalists and it really it would be in Israel's best interest if they would just side with a liberal internationalist like France and Germany there's only one problem those are precisely the states that had some of the worst anti semitism problems in Europe Jews are fleeing their on mass there's also the governments that are. trying to make concessions to the Iranians as the Iranians open the call for the extermination of every Jew in the region is unbelievable but this tell me you're going to cover this thing anything yeah who's the bad guy by the way as I say there a lot of people I know on the right who don't want to Yahoo to be prime minister anymore they want any guns suggested that the media will recognize that this is not anything Yahoo problem this is the rest of the world just like in Israel and that's the

Boy is as unique as it is realistic addiction is a complicated thing it brings some people closer together drives others way has ups and downs. And it's never over. Let's hear a little bit from the movie Nick's father. David played by Steve Carell, just got a call from his ex wife Vickie in LA, their son. Nick played by Timothy shallow may went missing. Again, David is getting ready to fly out to help find him in this scene. He's talking about it with Morris character. Karen, how do we even know didn't LA? I mean, he could be in San Francisco you can be. It could be in Mexico for all we know. I need to go. But I need you to stay. Vicki can't handle it. You don't care about Vicky. That's funny to hear that. It's like so emotionally overwhelming that there is it's difficult to have any other reaction to outside of context. It's funny. It's funny. I was such a so long ago that we did it. And it's so funny that he doesn't he told her to relax Zoete says relax with you. When someone tells you to relax and your perfectly justified upset. I feel like the movie was real ringer for me. And I think one of the reasons is that I find it incredibly emotionally challenging to deal with unresolvable problems. Not in the sense that you know, obviously, it's hard to resolve unresolvable problems. But even a small thing that can't find its way to an end will really eat me up and in some ways that's kind of what the movie's about. Yeah. I mean, do you mean in life or or when you lock things? Oh, yes, both. Yes. Yeah. That that's what I was drawn to about the film is how many times Timmy's character fails, a Nick in real life failed which I found ultimately hopeful because he had to try for many years, and he was successful sometimes for a year or year and a half or two years, and then he would relapse and I feel like the movie never judges. The relapses and doesn't even look at them as failure. He just starts over. And I found that ultimately hopeful kind of message that sometimes it's gonna take a long time. And it's okay. If you keep at it, you know, so in some sense it was. Was all about what was the thing. They said, I'm sorry. I think resolvable. Yeah. I mean in real life. You know, it did was all itself but dramatically is frustrating to the movies. Really? It's not the easiest movie in the world to watch. You play the stepmother to the addicted person that this film, and that is a very particular kind of relationship. How did you think about being a person who has two young kids of her own in the household and a husband that she loves very much and a step child who?.

"Coming up artist and writer, Michael cover men talks about the fascinating, sometimes painful journey of discovery that went into his new graphic memoir. All the answers. He spent years digging through archives learning stuff about his father that he'd never met. So I was aware that he had been famous, but I don't think I really understood until I started to work on this book that quality of his fame. Just exactly how he'd been famous and how motion it was both for the people who were fascinated by him and for him personally. The the bears at Miami gets bears coming off a bye, see which forbids skis got six touchdowns to that. I hope he keeps progressing because I liked the thought of the bears so long in a long time with one lovey one ten and he got fired. He was done dirty that year, we all know that was bad. Really we have ruined his NFL career think about it became undesirable low band. He got picked up for his a bridge in Tampa. He was just a bridge. Iron tampa. Now figured out what they wanted to do. And then because of that he ended up not getting another offer these scrape scrape it his way out of the bottom of the began. Whether they're starting to get beat up a record day. So it only other games chiefs in the pats, of course, Sunday night, Tiki and Tierney CBS sports radio Jason lockenfora next segment. I want to play something for a year. Taking I want to get your your thoughts on this. I'm not sure that I have. I'm not sure if I'm leaning one way or the other yet because it's so early but coach Shurmur was asked about the team's effort last night. And he was pretty feisty last week. And I wanted him for this with the old BJ nonsense post game last week here Shurmur after the game last night with some of the writers just said, I'm not worried about their effort. I'm worried listen, then he asked me about effort, and I said I wasn't concerned about their effort. Right here we go again one concerned about their effort. I'm concerned about how we executed and how we didn't get in the end zone and how we let them in the end zone. Okay. So here we are six games in. And there's an I'll get it. I'd be pissed off as well. I was a no show. Yeah. But there's an obvious amount of agitation that is beginning to follow him to the microphone and in this city at those always work. It's frustrating to get asked the questions over and over and over again, you can only give the same answer so many times, and it'd be honest, this this is why Bill Belichick is the way. He is Bill Belichick. Just he he can't. Well, he smartly doesn't allow himself to get emotional. So even if he is inside he holds it back, and he just gives you a stead stupid non-answer because he doesn't want. He doesn't want to show that he's affected by the continuous drilling. In of whatever the question may be now the beauty of New England is at they rarely questions. I mean, they ask questions just because I what are you gonna? The ball ballboy dropped the water going over to to Brady you're gonna find him nothing to ask them because you know, that the patriots gonna figure it out. Right. Even if they have a horrible day was a testing ground or learning ground for something else. It's going to be exceptional. But with sure I got that. I heard that it was sometimes you just don't need to answer right in situations. Like that just don't answer. Can you do that six games in in a big city? It's been ask already. You say I already answered that question next. Don't expound. No, keep going. I answered the question. But he was but what was when he was he was asked earlier. So that sound that we just heard he was asked earlier about the. Giants defensive effort last night last night. Authorities asked earlier, and then they circle by someone circled back to it. And you tell us about the effort again today, I got I got you. There's there's and you learned that especially being in New York, but he's not a rookie at coach. I know we've been around. He's never been in New York. No beat writers are there. They're they're I mean, they're getting after. You're like you're like a half eaten Corser, Lloyd Harrison hotel. Listen when you do something. Well, they'll glorify. Wait, they hit. You get those clicks. Let's get timid Virginia TV's on Tiki and Tierney CBS sports radio, Tim. What's up, buddy? Our today. I'm good. How are you guys? Okay. Good. What's up, Tim? Hey, what's up? This is him yesterday. And what's happening, brother? How you doing man going on doing good, man? How are you? I am. I cannot complain man. How are you, bro? Abdul. Pretty good, man. I'm I'm bummed about my giants, man. And you know, the thing I thought you know, when summer was hired was thought that their offense with what we saw with Minnesota. Yeah. No, Stefan de Odell Beckham junior. Adam feeling. Shepherd. Yup. So you're not seeing that right now. You're right. And I know that a few weeks back. You said that the giants offense isn't a fully installed. The offense of wind has not performed. Well, went up there full playbook. But yeah, there's not a lot. You can do. They got to do something to get the ball to get sick one in space to use. Evan Ingram when he's back healthy. But we're just not seeing it. Yeah. You're right. You're right. Look, I asked me at the top of our show. Tim asked me the top of the show. What are the giants need to do? And it's. If people want to feel like this miracle cure. There isn't no bad. There's not there is I mean, there's no shortcuts going to take getting to their bye week and trying new this is going to be an arduous rebate. Really not in a year in one giants are going to be bad for you. Brought up Odell. And then we went, and I show BT the structure of his contract it it's it is a good contract. It's not a great contract. You know, it's not like my standards by anybody's standards. You make an eighteen million dollars on average year with sixty five guaranteed is fantastic. But it's not like they tied them. They tied themselves to del for the next ten years or five years. It's really this year in two more. And then they kinda can decide whether or not, you know, this experiment with Odell was working. They did a great job Kevin Abrams in Dave Gettleman. Did a great job giving him a deal that makes them feel respected for his success? At least as early success in his in his. Career. But also saying we we're you're still being evaluated. Right. So it feels like they tied themselves to, but they didn't really so when this window this current one closes they'll have a decision to make. I keep hearing the narrative when this window to window shut. I know. But that's what I meant the window get worse. That's what I mean. I don't know. It might what happens when you put in a rookie or convert a third down like Eli. How fat change? Unbelievable. That is like if you took a freshman team, and you dumped it in against a dominant team from Cadillac, I realized I couldn't believe that. I'd never seen that my live didn't realize it. All meanwhile, the eagles go ten ten for ten. I know they're they're good. But the truth is is is bad as it feels. It's not as bad as it, actually. So you know, what? I mean, it's it's it's I think it's giants are re- rebuilding though at its worst. Because everybody assumed that they were going to be good though, independent of that. All right. I can't speak for what others say I'm saying independent of that thought that you've you brought up a few times. Like for me. I say it's worse because I look at them. And I say structurally where the assets like where's the foundational assets? Barclay tremendous sublime Talon Odell Beckham junior who seems to crack under adversity. Let's go for what it is. He cracks me he gets over gets a Radic make any cracks in most emotionally, he cracks, performance wise. I I can't say that the drop a touchdown. The other day he has punts. Here is kind of it in space this year off one. Wow. We dropped one last night. And he got back then he gave up a touchdown against Carolina because he was blocking somebody. He shouldn't be doing it by this is my point fair enough, but he's out there. But he's so, but he's not exit. So you know, where I stand on Odell. And that I look at Nate sold their Mike. I know you had to try something you grossly overpaid for a guy who is barely above average. At this point. Let's call it is Vernon daddy. He loves playing football anymore. Finally played last Vernon welcome back to the lead by register stack. La, apple still stinks. I know everybody gay got better overall picky stinks. You just cut flowers gone this foundationally and to be fair. I don't even know if they have the right coach, I'm not gonna say that they don't. But I can't say that. They do. I don't know if they had the right GM Gettleman seemed like he's married to nineteen seventies football. He just saying. What I really believe is true. I really don't think anything. I said is wrong. Really don't do. You really do. I do because I feel about what I just said giants were three and thirteen last year. They sucked they were literally the worst even football. I mean, the Browns were actually literally the worth you football. But the giants were one of the worst thing they were not competitive, I know at a lot of these games. So to assume that it was just going to turn around because you draft saquon Barkley, and we'll Hernandez put a line together that has five different starters in new positions that think that it's just gonna work because allies there and Odell it's it's asinine. I didn't think they should have taken. I know, but people do people do and look the court this this quarterback conversation. I'm I'm tired of it because snap one day. And it just frustrates. Heck he was on quarterback that I by the way, I'm with you. Because that's over. There's no need to keep bringing great people. Do you gotta start? What did he quarterback this you remember this going into the draft? There was one guy that I thought could play on this level right away and consistently for the entirety of his career. Who's Baker Mayfield? He was gone number one. I mean Sam Sam Josh Rosen. He looks terrible right now. Josh Allen is worth Allen is compl- Rosen is complete and less than fifty percent of his passes. Arnold is gonna be good darnold is the one that I was very concerned about simply because he didn't play a lot. You know what I mean he was a USC quarterback. He was mistake prone. He was I dunno. Consistence earn over he made some mistakes hit him. I was probably wrong about but that that feeling persisted throughout the National Football League. The jets did a great job. They took. They took a shot on them bringing a California kid to New York. And he's got the right demeanor. Doesn't get flustered. He's going to turn out to be the guy. The giants made a calculated this season we need to get some skill position players as we haven't had a good run game. And I feel like a decade long. So they got a guy who they who is a stud. I mean, he's rookie of the year right now. If you ask me, especially the offense of what he's freakishly town the way to say it, you're right? He's special one hundred percent of great. And if this is a two year rebuild, it's a two year. Rebuil- people just thought it was going to happen. Like that football. Does not work that way. It just does it. There's no there's no worse than I especially when you don't have talent you make over fifty seven percent of your office. Your team.

"He is tiki i am tierney at tiki barber brandon tierney tiki and tierney little baseball here teak which is it's funny people say why don't you guys i've got some tweets on this that is such a different feel than local radio i've said along to the biggest adjustment for me going from a local markham both in new york for almost a decade in san francisco before can't the cbs sports radio was kind of putting the day not kind of putting the daytoday baseball stuff on the back burner agreed it's harder because the local market doing baseball you're you're likely seeing all the games whether you're going to them or you see them on on whatever local network shows the so you see them all so it's easy to talk about the problem passion it's a passion a routine i'm gonna sit down right now i'm gonna have a drink i wanna watch baseball be dinner i'm gonna watch baseball more i'm going to grab my boys or my kids or whatever i'm going to go to baseball games you see all the local thing on a national scale it gets hard because you live in new jersey i live in new jersey if we were doing that we're watching the mets or the yankee network with if we were gonna sit and become fan we're not say we are fans we're watching the yankees and you can't talk yankees all the time on national radio and there's no way for us really to see the dodgers play all the time unless they're playing nationally like they did over the weekend against the as and shohei ohtani back crushed one when it was it was awesome miss but unless you see these lesser national games you just can't get a full fuel of how the season is progressing could talk about an individual game if it was amazing that dodgers angels series and the rubber game last night but otherwise it's really hard because you you'd be talking about a one off as opposed to the trend for that team which is the most important part of talking baseball day to day nuance which are boring as a national show agreed but imperative on a local show yes you know what i mean so no doubt baseball is love it you know i played it but i played it it's in my soul always will be too much dna long ago again i came to terms that unless it's like a steroid thing or a hall of fame candidacy thing or big trade cut a deal for the most part i listen otani like those route stanton tanaka cave what's inaki king just like saying a couple of months rumblings he was gonna come to the yankees but the point is is that i really i understand what the national market wants and they don't want to hear box score stuff from the car does in the pirates the wednesday nobody cares unless you're in st louis or pittsburgh and i'm not even sure uptake here entirely in pittsburgh right now but the allstar stuff is a chance for baseball to get a little shine shine best players on the planet getting out there doing their thing and i got to read you this instagram post here already feel the hate i gotta wear them now get new ones tomorrow chris archer put this on instagram earlier he's dead s right he is on the money here's what he writes somebody telling me why blake snell is in all the all star team al ranks colon two point oh nine comma first place i twelve wins common tied for second point i mean a one eighty three opponents average which is amazing tied for third fourteen quality starts tied for third and he go rhetorical question because he goes on to answer it he goes i know how because we as players the ones who vote for the pitchers didn't do our due diligence we have to collectively take the time and the effort the responsibly fill out our ballots it's totally on us and i'm calling on everybody who didn't take the energy to determine who is most deserving to represent our game in the mid summer classic this stuff matters let's be better blitz nelson all star not an alternate not a replacement or backup wow what a well thought out and he's right instagram he's he's right and unlike with the position players and the reason he's calling out.

"And for many view with truncated workweek obviously fourth of july compet up middle of the week tiki and tierney here on a monday couldn't miss this show that's for sure the this stuff going on don't be quiet letter inbounds out about coming up this hour as well i don't want to belabor this but i i meant to insert this tiger woods because i actually had the observation over the weekend while i was watching it in real time on cbs and you know the luckily outside of your four arm you never had any real debilitating injuries in the pros no but you played with obviously players who have yup and the first thing you even meet just learning to trust my back again like getting in and out of the car i'm still in the early stages of that but imagine trying to be a pro athlete pro athletes the first thing is you need to learn to trust your body i fully believe tiger woods has learned to trust his repaired body iraq the next part is mechanically got to be in sync i believe that that's what i believe is plaguing him and we've seen this perplexing propensity that's your salad i like that lot of peace that's good perplexing propensity that what does that alliteration yeah actually unintentional but you but this propensity to to blow up on the back nine gets right there like within a shot or two banging the wheels come off a bogey on ten or a bogus i just think this is gonna sound like the easy way out i think that he wants it too much right now because everything else is lining up yeah he's crushing the ball yeah he's playing when he just doesn't see things on the green and he misses a putt that slide by then he pushes it too hard now he's gonna hit it coming back and he misses it and all of a sudden we should have been a birdie ends up being a bogey go yeah that's happened to us he's been three jacket that he should do you want to win you can't knock down that but on saturday he knockdowns long company four footer for no doubts that tailormade how many watch the let's check tailormade sales that roughly thirty seven percent over the weekend on cbs all right what are the stories about leonard is that he can threaten with that he might threaten to sit out the season well i got a bunch of stuff but go ahead tesl first on this what's your first of all you hear this every now and then football non you're not going to guarantee me a contract i'm franchise value worthy player i need to be making longterm deal for a longterm security i'm not gonna play if you don't if you don't pay me right and you know what i kind of get it in football in basketball you never ever hear about a guy wanting to sit out the only reason the you would i think i'm trying to i i heard this i was trying to conceptualize what could be possibly going through his mind to say this is so bad in san antonio that i don't wanna play but it can't be i just don't like my coach who cares be a professional you know what i mean it it can't be my teammates are you know they're not you know let me grow because that doesn't make any sense and the only thing that it could be was this team doesn't take care of me physically meaning the staff is bad the you know the medical staff but we know that's not the case either because they took care of everybody else on this on that squad in so i don't understand why this would become a threat unless this is just something someone put out there that got legs because it was about coed leonard at this important point in the nba off season that's the only thing that i can come through i can't imagine it kyle kawhi leonard mind he is saying i would i would willingly sit out a season you know what i'm saying i see it a little differently here which is good because you don't always agree on stuff and i'm not just saying this to to disagree with thika do see really a little bit differently i the point as you incorporate football football to me is like the one sport i would never do that because i.

"Tierney now get us on twitter tiki and tierney tiki barber at brandon tierney you know every once in a while and i'm certainly not assigning this to this young man but every once in a while there's a comment that just kind of blasts across the sporting landscape and while this was a little bit before time in terms of actually watching this develop in real time we certainly know historically the significance of the name especially since i worked in the city in which it happened more mark the bird feed rich so yeah she's bringing them up burst on the scene at seventy six and this quirky getting on his knees and you know basically patting down the mound and blowing dirt with his mouth and aside from that having six stuff i think winning seventeen games won the rookie of the year and seventy six whatever it was he was right and there's been a couple of players in all sports where that's happened oh maybe maybe brandon roy fits that character that characterization in the nba maybe for me throw dante i'm just throwing names dante culpepper in the nfl before he ripped up his knee when he first came in because he was massive number rhonda you should tell me he tried to sack him 'cause rodney east the blitzer laugh from the slide he said he hit him in the back and he wouldn't move legit would move impossible to sack the dude unless you were a linebacker or defensive why man you've just revolutionized the size at the position big boy boy bo jackson santa just that's one of the best that earlier bo jackson of course the great bo jackson from auburn now i don't know if you know shale toddy is is shohei otani is going to be thrown in this file i really hope not but you don't know i mean you stare at tommy john in all likelihood the angels by the way have they just reiterated that there earlier assertion that he's not necessarily committed yet so there's still a cloud of speculation even though it's widely reported that otani is gonna have to eventually the succumb to tommy john surgery which based on when it is now and the position he plays he's not coming back to twenty twenty.

"Blessings i i don't know i i i got out of my left my eighteenth birthday and i started dating the lead singer band and he was signed to jive records and so was britney spears and he was friends with the girl that pulled me on tour with her and that's where it started literally when when i was on the road we'd have taylor's and i i always knew that i loved fashion because what were you doing touring with her i started assisting with the dancers okay and i immediately knew that it was like a natural fit for me because we know when i was growing up i used fashion to sort of camouflaged you know my circumstance so i knew that if i could fit my if i could dress myself where nobody could see what was really going on in my life like i fit in i mean i grew up in orange county so i mean orange county's pretty that's where i live so i just i always want to fit in and i didn't i don't want people to know really i was embarrassed about my situation so fashion really saved me that way and anyway so when i got on the road with brit i really really like i just felt so like this was meant for me and we'd wake up in a different city with literally would travel with a tailor shop and once we did all the corrections for the costumes we had we had eight dancers sixteen costume changes britney i think had fourteen costume changes so we did all the you know if you tear something during a show and i would be there with the with the taylor and i started making things but when i got off the road i didn't even realize because i didn't go to fashion school the i needed patterns but because i had the attention of publis publicist they took meetings with me.
