"Famous in just 18 months. On Sunday yesterday, Social Media star Charlie D'Amelio hit 100 million followers on Tic tac. It's a milestone for Charlie. And definitely a milestone for tic tac well in and the smartphone era as well. Charlie, who was 16 years old is a while She is to tic Tac What Rafael Nadal is to the French Open. She is so dominant that there's only two other creators on the app that have more than 50 million followers. And I know most people listening to, you know who cares? Who cares? Well. She has more attention when it comes to everything on this world, including politics than you do. She has more attention than Donald Trump does in the world of social media thing, anybody else out there and I bring it up? Because It's become incredibly powerful in the world of business and politics. Here's the back story when she first downloaded Tic Tac in May of 2019 Charlie was just a kid filming dancing videos in her Connecticut bedroom. But thanks to the combination of her charisma, her business savvy, incredibly business savvy, plus just great timing, theatric itself just skyrocketing and popularity. She don't gain more than 94 million followers. In the first year, even more impressively, she did it without drinking cranberry juice. Now Charlie and are increasingly famous family. You're thinking way beyond Tic Tac. Her sister has quite a few followers as well in the social media realm. Charlie has 8.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel 3.37 million followers on her Instagram channel, And she's also launched a podcast with her sister signed a book deal and has a Dunkin Donuts drink named after her. Now, uh You could spend this Thanksgiving plotting how your family's going to become a justice famous, but bring it up because it's it's incredible. Why would Duncan Donuts advertised anywhere else? When they're getting more play on Tic tac, other than of course, the Todd of Don show on NewsRadio Kill Beach. I wish we had 100 Million followers. Do we not Good night's pretty impressive. It's pretty amazing. It's just a shining example of what social media can do for some people out there. Okay. Show,
Creativity as a Mechanism to Win
"Creativity as a mechanism to win. What yes that's what. I'm talking about right now. I have been just in love with my own process lately and it involves a mindset as well as a time management hack and one. I'm talking about is i work on my money making projects as my core focus of my day. That has not changed. But what has changed. Is you know grinding. It out for four years plus on doing own gig. Sometimes i get stuck or frustrated or like burnt out for lack of a better word and rather than going. Okay send a day to quit. Seven o'clock tune out. Watch some netflix six. Instead of doing that. I have implemented something else which is far more satisfying and it is. I have a set of creative projects that i'm doing and allotting time for for myself and if i do it right i can also learn. New skill sets while satisfying the creative side of my soul. So it has professional benefits as well as sole benefits as well as productivity benefits like. It's just a whoop. It's an alignment so let me explain the for myself. It might be different for you but for me. One of One project. I can think of as i wanted to learn some harmonies and lay them down on audio software. Just for fun. Because i love harmonizing and with the pandemic it's hard to get together in person and harmonize with people So i just was like well elite. How my own tracks harmonized with myself. Because it's so enjoyable. And i did that. So he became more familiar with Recording software and how to to do what i needed to do with multiple tracks et cetera. So that was a skill that i'm building and singing is obviously the harmonizing is really enjoyable So that satisfies decreed site. And then i was like well. I want to be able to quickly make any audio files. That i produce into videos so i was like all right. Quick hack and learn that real quick check and then just keep going so. That's one and then another one i have is. Oh then. this is totally frivolous inhale. Larry is and that's why i love it. L. being in my creative project rotation is that i've set up in my library. A mike stand and on it is god a microphone. Obviously and then an audio processor with the gain and everything and i plug it right into my phone. Start taking video and my dream for the for. The project is to have gene. Eat some healthy snacks and do like little. Asmar videos because it's so funny. Like i would love for him to be tic tac famous. And i don't even know dog. Asmar is something people like because it might be actually disgusting. Like i don't care. So i'm not really looking at it as like oh i'm gonna make my career out of making dog. Asmar no it's more just hilarious to me the thought of it as genre but then it also gives me more experience with equipment and working with my dog in creating content from a totally different angle and also video editing and tiktok. It's fun So those are just some examples for me. So it's it's kind of amazing you can just be working on your money making projects and then if you get stuck or you get tired Rather than just being like. I'm done for the day. That's it you just switch gears and you activate the creative part of your brain and if you do it right you can also pick up new skills on the side just for fun teaching yourself a whole manner of things and this is in addition to taking master classes or learning from your favorite business. People like i love. Jay abraham so much and radio and sara blakely and barbara corcoran and mark cuban. Of course i'm very aligned with him on social justice as well as how he approaches his whole entire career so anyway that is super fun. I wanted to talk to you guys about that. L. creativity is a mechanism win. And when no if you're doing that is well. I know a lot of people like engineering types to have multiple interests. They kinda tend to do this naturally so they just go from thing to think to think especially if they're like adhd so yeah. I've just really taken a lot of joy in this approach because it makes me feel like instead of like i'm not enough. I didn't complete you know solving this problem. That i've wanted to solve for three days. You know instead of feeling like that feeling and going. I gotta call it a night and just go watch some amazon prime. You know some movie instead of doing that. It's like i'm to. I'm a shelf this for now. And i'm going to activate a different part of my brain know because some of us are both analytical and creative

Diplo Explains Living Situation With 19-Year-Old TikTok Star
"Record straight about his relationship with this 19 year old tic tac star Quinlan Blackwell. It turns out he's her landlord thing else. She posted this video and she was like I live with diplo right now, and he supports my endeavors. And then the Internet was like, Why does a grown man live with the 19 year old tic Tac star Ariana? Um, and he set the record straight. Say I rent one of my properties to her. Yes, I use the studio in that building. I could see how you're getting this twisted, but there's nothing but friendship, but my favorite was her response to even that, she says. I'd rather break both of my legs and be forced to walk them pursue diplo romantically, and he'd rather choke. Okay, So that explains it. You know who didn't help us Azalea banks, our good friend who threw a bunch of gasoline on this small fire by saying when I was coming up in l A dip will help me out. But I had to give him some or something like that. In those lines to make it. She implied that she was one of many young starlets. Who diplo abetted and I don't help out with their career. I don't think anybody paid attention to her. I don't I don't believe anything She
The Rules We Follow but not sure why
"I'm having more conversations than ever about the targeting I think part of the reason is that we're all cooped up in not going to conferences and workshops. One. Of the things that I picked up on our some classic self imposed rules. So I picked a few of my favorites to discuss for today's show. Like practically, everything else photography there are no right and wrong answers to just about anything. Right. Yet many of us myself included find ourselves constrained by rolls that should or should not always apply to our work, and this reminds me a little bit of Golf. Golf is one of those sports that you can actually go backwards when you play I mean you can improve, improve, improve, and then somehow magically pick up a bad habit. You don't actually know where it comes from, but suddenly you're doing this thing wrong and so all you're not shots or slicing or you're not getting underneath the ball, you're topping the ball you're raising up you're doing all these things that you weren't doing two weeks ago. And I think sometimes in photography, we have these things crop up as well. In we've just started doing them and then we don't question them and then they become you know these constraints that were not sure why we're doing it but we're doing them anyway. And I think sometimes, it takes maybe someone else you're looking at your shot to go. Well, why did you make that decision? You're going well because I do that all the time. The other person goes why Why did he do that all the time? And then you're going I'm not sure actually and and then you can kind of go from there. So as I've been having these conversations online with our virtual workshop and the other things that we're doing. I thought I'm. GonNa keep track of a few of these and share them on the podcasts and so that's what we're going to do this week we're going to. Tackle a few of these self imposed rules and just talk about them for a second and see what we think. Now as you may guess, I have five of these and we'll start with the first one. The subject should never go in the middle of the frame. So this is a compositional rule, and somewhere along the lines, we were taught rule of thirds or one of the other compositional rules. In. Suddenly were not allowed to put subjects in the middle of the frame anymore. But the thing about this is is that sometimes some subjects should be in the middle of the fray. Some shots? Look better with the subject Bam right there you get your nine squares right from your rule of thirds and it goes right there in the middle one right tic-tac-toe boom right there in the middle. So why is that? How do we get away from ever doing that? Well, because when we start out in photography, our inclination is to put the subject in the middle of the frame. That is the natural thing to do in film days you know the focusing micro prism was there and so you would be focusing right there and then you just stay right there and take the shots. Also just there's something natural about putting things in the middle of things for us. So we started doing that more or less in our early days, and then someone tells us. If you WANNA be a good photographer, right? Not just a snap shooter. Then, you will move your subjects somewhere else in the frame to create what we call dynamic tension. ooh, that sounds good i. want to do that I wanNA have dynamic tension in my shots too. So then we learn about, for example, the rule of thirds were now my subjects should be over to the right or to the left or down a little bit or up a little bit but for heaven, sakes not in the center because that's what rookies do. Not People like me who are trying to be good photographers for the most part I would say that that is true. For the most part, you do not want the subject there. RIGHT SMACK DAB in the center all the time however like so many roles sometimes, they're meant to be broken and there are certain shots in you know the shots I'm telling you if you'RE GONNA shoot. A this'll? This'll flour at a certain stage. You WanNa put that this'll you WANNA get tight on it for one thing and you WanNa put that. This'll right there in the middle of the frame because that's where you know it's symmetrical. Beautiful symmetrical flower with the purples in the whites and everything some green and there. Bam right there in the middle and get your focus right.
Quibi shuts down after six months
"Between the idea being less than perfect, which we We own and the environment we found ourselves in is where the fail has come. That's Jeffrey Katzenberg, founder of Quick Be in an interview with CNBC yesterday morning, and this is after the announcement that Quimby after a mere six months as a streaming service is shutting down and this is an idea that many people were skeptical about from the jump. Jeffrey Katzenberg and his co founder, Meg Whitman, raised a lot of money, $1.75 billion, and yet people didn't think it would work. And when Jeffrey Katzenberg says, as he does repeatedly, we don't know what went wrong. I think a lot of people in Hollywood Matt think they do know what went wrong. Yeah, this is a case where the critics ended up being right because most people from the beginning said What is new about this idea? You are attempting to create a market for premium short form. And that people would pay for on their phones when the market wasn't exactly screaming for this idea, Geoffrey thought that high end star driven vehicles would work on phones when most people are perfectly happy looking at TIC tac, or snap or YouTube or watching premium content on places like Netflix or HBO, Max on your phone. It wasn't exclusive. It wasn't original, and ultimately it failed. Well, I would say it was original idea, but unfortunately, it was an original idea that no one asked for five minutes. 10 minute increments says this programming was offered in. I don't know that many people who just wanna watch five and 10 minute things. I mean, especially as you say, in the world of Tic Tac and Sam and YouTube is available again, and it's not premium content. People don't seem to even at this point have an interest in that The hypothesis is that they would, but they clearly didn't And it was a very cluttered market. Anyway, they decided to go ahead during the pandemic. Now, you know, they are saying Is this a reason why it didn't work Was it of the wrong time, and people did complain that they leased in the early going? They couldn't watch this stuff on their TV. They also couldn't share it on social media, So there were a lot of issues there. But the fact is, I don't really think the pandemic has anything to do with it. I think it was an idea failed because people are not wanting to pay. You know, they're they're slowly coming to pay for other streamers. They wouldn't want to play for five and 10 minutes stuff and none of it. Most of all, I think, really sealing the doom. Nothing broke through. I can't think of anything that people chattered about. That was a must watch on quicky. No. In a lot of the time that, Katzenberg said people would be watching this stuff was going to be spent that doctor's offices are on the bus or commuting things that did grind to a halt during the pandemic. So was not an ideal time to launch. This certainly didn't help. But It didn't fix the ultimate problem here, which was that it was filling a market that did not exist. Now. It doesn't mean that down the road, someone won't figure out short form premium content. My opinion is, it will likely be an existing streaming service like snap or YouTube or one of the others that figures out how to get people to pay for this kind of short form content by launching from scratch, declaring that you are going to reinvent The entire content universe raising $1.75 billion from a bunch of traditional Hollywood oriented cos That's a challenge.

"And so you might see N for Z L standing for Nazi. Another common tactic among extremists on Tic Tac is attempting to hijack a trending topic they might use the hashtag black lives matter. As a way to actually promulgate some of their hateful ideologies to people who were searching for other kinds of videos. But those who work with TIC TAC say it deserves credit for not repeating the mistakes of older social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Tic Tac has learned that a scattershot method of just taking down bad stuff as it appears, doesn't work. The controls have to be proactive. Bonnie Fareed is a UC Berkley, computer science professor who sits on a TIC Tac advisory panel. Here's a piece of content. Ah, here's a group. Let's ban this. That's not ban that, and there's no coherent policy. And I think Tic Tac has the advantage of coming to this game relatively late and seeing what has not worked with the other social media companies. Unlike other social networks, Fareed says, Tic Tac sees itself as entertainment and that's mostly what you see on the platform dances, jokes, pranks, ridiculous dog videos, hateful and violent videos are made to go. Tic tac is good at catching it. Still, Fareed admits it's there. If you look hard enough, and I'm not excusing it. I'm not saying Well, you know, that's the price you pay. But, you know, just playing defense is hard and no matter how did the algorithms get no matter how many moderators you hire? There's going to be mistakes. Tic Tac has twice as many U. S users as Twitter. Those are a lot of people making a lot of videos. Mistakes are just an unavoidable.

Ticktock really appeals to women. I don't know. I'm not trying to be sexist about this. I'm just pointing out the demographics. And his spawn like women's dance crazes. Women love to talk not to say there aren't male users or there are male contributors. But women love it. I have not spoken to a single. I got friends that like Tic tac, right? But all of my friends, wives love Tic tac. My wife is big in a tic tac. Just taking and talking all over the place. I said, What is it? She was, Oh, it's like 62nd clips. It's just real quick. Couldn't you just do like a quick instagram thing story, and she's like, Yeah, so why take that ship because it's too dark. Doesn't make any sense to me at all. You know what When it comes to social media in the digital age doesn't have to make sense to us just has to work for whomever is putting it out there. And for tic tac it is working, but Tic tac Owned by a Chinese company considered a potential security risk. A CNN was laying this out. The Trump administration says that this is all about ensuring national security. The announcement we're getting from the Commerce Department today is really in response to that executive order. Trump had announced on August 6 giving 45 days to get an elaboration on exactly what types of transaction would be banned. Now for Tic Tac, and we chat. This means that as of Sunday, Apple and Google Cannot anymore. Have this app on their app stores. So no longer will it be downloadable. It is unclear, though, what it means for that deal between bite dancing Oracle. If this is enough to save Tic Tac, just okay. Bye. Dance Oracle Tic tac. Oracle is major software company. They are behind a lot of different databases. Payroll software. Ah, coordination. HR. Coordination, Just a ton of stuff, right ton of database stuff. So Oracle was looking at buying ticktock. Bite. Dance owns Tick Tuck. This is so like I'm so Huh? And by dance is Chinese. And the president said, You can't be run by Chinese company anymore. So Oracle says, OK, we'll buy it. The problem, however, is that by dance goes okay. You could buy it, but you can't have it. So Basically, Oracle is going to be the name on tick tock, but they will not have the rights to the algorithm and basically software itself. They're not going to the algorithm is everything. See kids. This is why you need to stay in school and learn your mathematics because algorithms can be worth billions. Ask Mark Zuckerberg algorithms are the future. Okay, back to the business reporter from CNN again, a bit confusing, trying to sort this out. Just hours ago, I reported, according to a source that they had reached a tentative deal with the U. S government. When expert told me that this could be a way for trump to game or leverage and have a negotiating tactic here to put even more pressure on bite dance to agree to more concessions and agree to give up that majority ownership, which does seem to have been a sticking point. And this Particular point here. I don't know if you picked it up into.

I would say, use the app, make sure if you if you love it, or you want it, get it, but just understand because with any application that you download and put on your phone There are always privacy implications are always giving something up to have the convenience of a service. Make sure you're comfortable with the information that it's collecting. Make sure you're comfortable with what you're sharing with that app in terms of permissions on your phone. There is no idea what this application does, but it's a It's a social media applications, short Web videos that has grown immensely popular and I was pretty sure this was gonna be wrapped up by now. But it's continuing on and the Chinese government kind of striking back here and putting some Threesome roadblocks in the way of this deal actually taking place? Yeah, to give some background we've covered on this show a bit, but this particular sale of Tic tac. It sort touches on many different issues on a global level. The major one being Ah, you're how secure is your data? That has been the major focus, and that has been an issue of contention between China and the U. S. And Tic Tac is sort of a company. That has been involved in this ongoing debate between the two countries. So recently there was a deadline that was imposed first for mid September, I believe is September 15th that has been adjusted and pushed back because there's many different sort of concerns and things to work out. When you're negotiating a sale that size to give you a scale of tic Tac's popularity. They have 100 million users in the U. S so extremely popular. And we've got WalMart. Microsoft potentially teaming up Oracle has been another bitter that's been named, but for the moment it appears as if they're discussing ways to try to get out of the sale. And maybe delay things a bit. Yeah, and I don't know how that ends. I mean, I've continued to say that Look, Tic tac might dance. The parent company of Tech talk is really negotiating with a gun to their heads, right? And I don't really know if they're gonna be able to figure something else out. It sounds like I mean, what they're proposing here is almost. You know what American companies have to do in China? Where you take on a local Chinese partner, Teo, you know? I partner with your business where it ends up happening in China is that local partner rips off all of your proprietary technology and starts their own competitors. But, yeah, they're proposing a potential deal. Which Tic Tac takes on a U. S. Tech partner helps secure the data. And then you know, still has a minority stake or take out bite dance might own still the majority But, you know, have a U. S. Tech companies securing the data within the United States. I'm not sure I could You see that US partner just getting basically the equivalent of Stuffed into a log. It just, you know, not even being listened to our you know, dealt with on that level will see. You know, it's I would tend to agree with you if the opposite was happening where they're the US partner was trying to operate in China. But I think the guidelines over you know how this data is going to be able to move between the United States and China. Don't really see that methodology working terribly well, but You know, for all the Tweens out there, you know, I would say Tic Tac is still at a pretty high risk of just being shut down within the next month or so. And I was talking to Vinnie Penn, the morning host down in down the connected area, and he's like that would be that would be the travesty of a lifetime for my daughter. She might not come out of a room for months. If that sort of thing happens. You can't underestimate the popularity of that app. No, you cannot. Speaking of social media and data sharing Ireland taking steps to order Facebook to stop sending Their user data to the United States and I I continue to applaud everything that the European Union does around data protection. What they're finding here is that you know, While Facebook doesn't go out of their way to, you know, share and sell all the European Union Customersdata because of strict data sharing laws and privacy laws of the EU. It really also doesn't Provide those citizens with any sort of recourse against the U. S government from taking a look at that data, right if you're a national security threat to the United States or if You know if Facebook had served with subpoena toe, send this data over Irish citizens. European Union citizens have really no recourse against that. Another story here where Facebook is on the news, the headline here, But this has a This has ramifications above and beyond Facebook. You know, user data is a extremely important hot button issue at the moment. How it's used, Who can have it Where it can be held is Coming up quite frequently now, and this particular action by Ireland here is to suspend the data transfers to the U. S from European users, and they're mentioning that they may impose a fine of 4% of Facebook's revenue, which B $2.8 billion. So I do applaud this action as well. But it's important to note sort of this strike between privacy and commerce. The balance between the two So be a theme for years to come. Folks in these social media companies are.

"So I think, you know, regardless of whether this, you know kind of sale goes forward. We heard this week that Potentially Wal Mart is getting in on the game, which a lot of people found interesting to say the least. I'm not sure you know how interested young people are having something sponsored by WalMart. But But, you know, I think, regardless of whether that sales goes forward, Tic tac is very invested interest in making sure that it is perceived as something that is safe and something is, you know, Okay to use and something something that is, you know, a company that is protecting data. So you know, Part of it is that it's also kind of hedging its bets right because there's no guarantee that the sale will go forward. Things like that. So you know, it's essentially trying to kind of fight back on on all fronts here, But, you know, I don't think that we're going to see The Trump Administration backing down anytime soon. And this is something that they very much made kind of a key pillar of their policy toward China and Tech. You know, Secretary of State Pompeo laid out this kind of Really interesting kind of clean initiative is really kind of bizarre branding exercise but trying to push this idea of clean tech and making sure that companies on DH that you know platforms like iTunes and things like that. On ly so clean APS meaning acts that don't you know, essentially have ties to the Chinese government. So this is something that I think is not going away on the Trump Administration side. And so tic Tac is really trying to make sure that No. One. But it's brand isn't too tarnished by these claims and two that it's kind of covering itself on all fronts. But you mentioned Wall Martin and reports emerged yesterday that Microsoft and Wal Mart are teaming up to launch a bid to buy the APP. But Ticktock also lost its CEO. This week. Kevin Mayor resigned after on Ly 100 days on the job. In a company wide email obtained by The New York Times mayor wrote Quote in recent weeks as the political environment has sharply changed. I have done significant reflection on what the corporate structural changes will require and what it means for the global role I signed up for David. What impact could a lack of clear leadership have on the company at what is a very delicate time? I think the really interesting thing is to take a step back and ask what is really going on here? I think what we're really having is a conversation about. Is there such a thing as a multinational company that just happens to have a Chinese parents? All a ll Chinese companies wherever they act in the world, somehow tainted by the very rials Censorship. That is a kind of real time reality where I am sitting here in Beijing so by dance claims and says the TIC Tac is a very American company. It's got its own servers. None of the data is held in China. And who knows? Maybe that's completely true. But there is a problem, which is that Tic Tac has a Chinese cousin Dorrie in which is a hugely popular short video platform here. You can buy stuff that you promised all of that. But like all the other apse on DH popular instead, products here in China, it is censored. And if you say something wrong, the police will come around within hours. And if needs be drag you away because all Internet and social media companies here exists in the world where the Chinese police and the secret police Have total access to everything here. So does that taint by don't everywhere around the world that the truth is in history. We've never done this before. Because in the Soviet Union days, you didn't have American teenagers using some app that the Soviet Union was selling. Well another time Valiant. Facebook is planning legal action against the Thai government. The company had originally blocked access to a group called Royalist Marketplace, which features posts about the time monarchy. But now the company says it will ask a Thai court reverse that order from the Thai government. David what's going on here? And how might this lawsuit play out? I'll. Facebook is a very interesting play in international politics. I know in the states people associated with kind of cat videos and keeping in with your kind of grandmother. But actually, Facebook is a gigantic platforms across, for example, a lot of Asia. Revolutions have planned on Facebook. In some cases, you know ethnic hatreds and riots that kill people are planned on Facebook. So Facebook has a role in places like Thailand, which is very specific. The Thai government run by military essentially dictatorship ordered them to take down a group. They did take down. Thiss group without a million followers, which was critical of the king, which is an extremely severe serious criminal offense in Thailand. This is linked to a very large anti government process, which very unusually Have taken on at some point and some medals, criticism off the king, which is very serious criminal offense, So Facebook is caught by the fact that he's actually a very major political player in one of these countries, which is uncomfortable place. For a media company to be well engine really quickly. What role is social media and groups like royalist marketplace playing in the ongoing backlash against the monarchy? Well, you know, I think it's really important to remember is that this was actually a Facebook video that went viral a few years back that essentially revealed to the world why many people in Thailand were anxious over the prospect of the then Crown prince becoming King. It was this viral video that showed him he's at the time was 64 kind of walking around a shopping mall in Munich with not his wife, but his mistress.

Something The United States is always complained bitterly about when it's happened to us in places like Chili in Cuba, and of course, China is also a major buyer of American goods, which many companies and farmers in the US depend on and a continuing trade work might be just the sort of thing a week in the United States economy doesn't need it the moment In terms of what it means to lip sinking kids. "Welcome back to America changed forever from the CBS Audio Network. I'm Gil Gross. And now a tic tac Tic tac. Not easy to say somewhat easier to explain, but with so many different angles to the story from national security to lip sinking dance moves. It'll take information from all the people I've talked to try and keep this tic tac tech talk on track, and I promise that is the last time I'll do that. If you have never used take talk. What it is, is simply an app that is whittled down that old saying about everyone having 15 minutes of fame to 15 seconds. You get that long to post a dance move. Lip sync or comedy bit may not sound attracted to you, but it has been 2 100 million Americans and a 1,000,000,000 or so people overseas. So this sounds pretty harmless. But the president and secretary of state are quite upset about Tic tac. They have asked for it to be banned. Demanded military personnel take thee up off their phone. And companies such as Wells Fargo on Amazon have demanded their employees take the APP off, though Amazon later changed its mind. The reason is TIC TAC is owned by a Chinese company, which, though private, is answerable to the Chinese government. What's really going on here? Well, that is not the easiest thing to answer. The Trump Administration claims that Tic Tac is a national security danger, collecting data from its users beneficial to Chinese intelligence interest, But does it Well, there's been zero evidence is yet that it does. And it's hard to figure out what Chinese intelligence would do with information about teenage dance moves, Nor has there been any explanation of why the Chinese who have successfully hacked into the United States government Office of Personnel Management An anthem. Health insurance should even need this kind of Trojan horse for this kind of applicators to this kind of audience. Tic Tac's United States subsidiary says Hey, we're an open book and the data we collect stays in the United States and China never sees it. And so far, that does seem to be true. But is it trustworthy? And here's where things get murky. Under Chinese law, companies can be forced to comply with any and all Chinese laws and as the people of Hong Konger finding out Chinese laws could be put the restrictive and intrusive Also the TIC Tac's American company says everything it collects will never leave our shores. If you read their privacy statement, you know that thing we all hit except for without reading. It States. Tic Tac may share user data with a parent subsidiary or of our affiliate of our corporate group and other words, it's Chinese owner which by law is beholden to any Chinese government demand. But does take talk, collect anything worth worrying about well so far. No guardian firewall, an Internet security company says Tick talk just collects your device, model screen resolution and operating system, the sort of information it needs to work. There is a claim on reddit that the Android version also collects location and Tic Tac did it one time get access to your clipboard where you might have passwords exposed. But it claimed that feature was just to catch people who spammed the same thing to multiple tic tac's over and over again, and it is since disabled that Also, American Internet companies have been caught actually doing all the things tick tock has been accused of, and government those seemed to care after the Cambridge Analytica scandal a few years back at Facebook, Congress promised all kinds of things to protect your data. And has not been actually moved to do anything about any of it since then. So again, what is so special about Tic Tac? Well, maybe one thing. It may be many things. Here is the menu. Pick out as many items as you would like. It could be political revenge. Remember when the Trump administration claimed one million people were coming to the Tulsa rally, and according to the Tulsa Fire Department, only 6200 people showed up. Well, teen tic Tac users claimed that they signed up for all of those tickets with no intention of using them. Now there is no actual proof. Tic tac teams tank Trump in Tulsa. Yes. All right. I said I wasn't gonna do that again. But just the claim may have angered the administration. Or it could be part of the trade war with China. That's all racing moves against communication Company Wall Way where techies say there are concerns about intelligence information being fed to China, as five G gets built out. Or this is like a diner menu. There's a lot to choose from. It could be retribution against China for anti democracy moves against Hong Kong and the weaker Muslims, or it could be pushed back against Chinese innovation. Chinese Tech used to be what it could make deals for or just flat out steal from American companies. But what while away and TIC tac have done is to actually innovate, which means Chinese Tech has reached a new stage of the United States may be anxious to squash Or it could be just a continuing use of China as an election. You're punching bag that goes along with referring the bazaars, Kobi to virus as the Chinese virus. Or it could be a reverse concern about Russia allegedly manipulating the Internet for Donald Trump. Mike China, not as friendly with the president as Russia used TIC TAC, where some have claimed political moves against Trump. Use its power against the administration and for Joe Biden. Or like lunch, a hometown corral buffet, but as many of those ingredients together, as you'd like, in whatever order, not forgetting to grab a corn muffin as well. The dangers here are almost as varied the United States Good look as if it's asserting Internet sovereignty within its borders, something usually associated with authoritarian governments like Well, China This is a bigger worry than it may sound because more governments are cracking down on Internet contact. India is banning TIC TAC, which may have to do with content. But more likely is about the country's border war with China, which a recent skirmish left 20 Indian soldiers dead. Pakistan is banning TIC tac over what it calls salacious content under a law passed four years ago that threatens 14 years in prison to anyone who uses the Internet against the glory of Islam or decency and morality in Pakistan. Is it worth staying with him? Do you think you'll change his mind? I don't want to choose between him or are or my tattoos. Can't I have both. It's worth noting that he also has a tattoo and once more, please love kringle. This is kringle. Yeah. This guy like some tattoos. Just not a grip ton. Yeah. Well. Too bad for him. I guess good. You don't have to get them on your body. That's fine. Too beneath there's a relationship as an expiration date the day. She gets too many tattoo tattoos as might maybe. I mean, maybe. And then and then at a certain point completely covered in ink, and he breaks up the then I, you know, maybe you can't have both things. So maybe you do have to choose.
