"Move to the rail with 5 furlongs left to run. With a final record of three wins and four guards at two and earnings of $50,000 hoist the flag was named champion juvenile male of 1970 by both triangle publications and thoroughbred racing association. Some scoffed and called him a one month wonder. All of his starts that year had come within the span of 30 days. But others said he was a deserving champion that his class ranked him above those who had won more races or earned more money. But the story of hoist the flags racing career would indeed soon come to an end. Following a 15 length drop in his three year old debut and a 7 length score in the bay shore in stakes in track record time in New York, hoist the flag sustained a compound fracture of the right hind leg during a workout at Belmont park on March 31st, 1971, a 6 hour surgery saved his life, but he would never race again. Consider the even money favorite in the future books for The Kentucky Derby at the time of his injury, hoist the flag was retired from racing and sent to cleburne for him for stallion duty in Kentucky, beginning with the 1972 breeding season. He would be named leading juvenile sire.

"They're usually smarter than this And the thing is is Jim sided to me my producer will be going over in the first hour this January 6th hearing Oh you got Paul came out today That's even worse for the Democrats So in other words they're doing the January 6th stuff the distractions the Putin price hike the blame game and none of its working You would think they'd be a little more tactically efficient and say eh time to switch the game plan up Yeah it just shows how dishonest they are And honestly this situation shows that the American public are in a bunch of dummies I mean they're paying attention And it's their everyday life and the Democrats are assuming that they can talk the American public into anything And I think after what we've seen the last two to three years the public is doing their homework now They're understanding exactly what's going on in Washington D.C. they're paying attention They're reading past the headlines and they are seeing hypocrisy for what it is So I'm grateful for that People get worried about our country I'm encouraged I'm inspired because we've got people paying attention that never were before They're showing up at meetings They're going to school boards They're going to local governments state legislators and weighing in on congressional issues that maybe two or three years ago they didn't care about today they do

"But you know what what if I strange about this Is your man of science or a doctor But I've been following you and your father for a long time and you've been talking about these things forever that if you're going to have Fiat money not bedrock and anything other than the faith and credit of a government that is no intention of keeping a stable money supply that eventually you're going to get inflation You've only been talking about this for 20 years I don't know as long as I've been in politics I've heard you wouldn't even hear dad mentioning it Now you've been proved prescient right correct And again it seems to be like the data is always on our side Yet we mysteriously continue to lose this debate and I think it's intermediary we call the media here That just keeps telling people that no no if we try it this time it'll definitely work I don't know if we're losing the debate because I think the winds are behind us coming to November and in November people are going to attach blame to the rising gas prices and grocery spices They're going to attach blame to the lack of formula on the shelves the bare shelves for other supplies as well And I think the blame is going squarely on the shoulders of Democrats and Biden So I think people are smarter the media hasn't got it in the media is promoting fairytales like green causes inflation But I think we just keep hammering back I mean one of the indications of inflation is a measure of the money supply called the M two It's gone up 15% annualized over the last three years and last January it was going up at a 27% annualized rate So when you increase the money supply basically to pay or buy the debt that we have incurred by spending too much that's what inflation is And so it's an expansion of the money supply And I think people get that Even the people who received the $1400 checks kind of say to themselves well I know this really can't be free There's got to be this is kind of some kind of scam right I'm not going to have to pay somehow Well that's what's happening now The inflation tax is to pay for the free checks that went out And in the end some people are paying much more for gas now than they ever received in the stimulus

"That doesn't mean we should ever forget that generally the men and women in blue are the good guys. And this sheriff in Spartanburg county, sheriff chuck Wright, he's a good guy. He really is. Every community would be blessed to have a chief or a sheriff like him. And he pointed out that they found the animal who ambushed and murdered this sheriff's deputy, Austin Aldridge, 25 years old. 25 years old, been a sheriff's deputy for about three years. Whole life ahead of him, committed to serving his community, ambushed by some evil subhuman. Now, they found the guy there was a shootout and the other sheriff's deputies, cornered the guy, apparently in the Woods he was found lying next to his rifle. Instead of just blasting away and murdering him, killing him. Which, frankly, well, I won't say it. As sheriff, chuck Wright pointed out, our men showed great restraint knowing that one of our guys had just been ambushed and didn't fire any shots at the suspect they just arrested him. Chuck Wright, the sheriff of Spartanburg county pointed out, we are the good guys. We do it right and we did it right. I just ask you to pray for our deputy.

How Michael Knowles Got Involved With Fighting for the Truth

"Outside of this ridiculous book you published, how did you get into this business? Because I know you as a hail fellow well met. I know you as somebody that you can have a great philosophical discussion in a theological, your fellow mackerel snapper like me share a good cigar. So how did you end up when you're not giving lectures for what is it? Young America's foundation, correct? Yes, they run my campus lecture to a few other groups too. Amazing campus. I mean, Ben Shapiro, you know, he could learn a thing or two from you and I hope you'll quote me to him. I say it all the time. But tell us, your backstory, tell me your family background and how you got involved in this, you know, fighting for the truth, Mike. Well, you mentioned that I'm a fellow mackerel snapper, a fellow papist, such as yourself. I was a cradle Catholic, but I was raised in a very liberal environment where a liberal community, you know, in New York. We were, we took the faith seriously at some points, but at other times it was a little more cafeteria style. And by the time I was 13, I would have called myself an atheist. Certainly an agnostic, probably more an atheist. I never went through a particularly liberal phase, little shades of it here and there. But I would have called myself certainly secular atheistic. And one of the rare people who having gone to a very liberal college ended up being radicalized to the right. And then radicalized toward Christianity. But by your fellow students or by professors or both what was it, I'm curious. It was fellow students, and I met a handful who were very, very thoughtful conservatives, not merely the kind of cut my taxes and leave me alone conservatives, but who thought a deeper, more comprehensive way about what it really truly means to be a conservative. And then I met very thoughtful Christians. And you know, a lot of my classmates, I just saw them at my tenth college reunion. I was a little bit of a chilly welcome there from some of my more left wing classmates. But these were generally intelligent people. They probably had a pretty high IQ. But I noticed that there arguments about religion about culture about politics were just so weak compared to the arguments that I was being presented with by my conservative classmates, and certainly by the Christians. And so after a period of, I don't know, a year to three years, intellectually, I was convinced God exists. And once you're convinced of that, then you have to confront the Bible.

Chris Reed's Vision of What Will Soon Happen With Biden and Putin

"I'm talking to my friend Chris Reed with Morningstar ministries. So Chris, you're sharing something shocking and extraordinary, challenging for a lot of people. I'm sure listening, you had an angelic visitation. You're giving us the details for a lot of people. This is way beyond what they can handle. But I got to say, I know you. I know enough to believe that this is exactly what happened. So you're saying the angel said to you very clearly, very distinctly that Biden will leave office. We don't know why. Maybe a health issue that Putin will leave office. We don't know why. Maybe health issues. But they're leaving office. They're going to be removed. Kamala Harris will be president. That's a nightmare because I can't think of anybody less fit to be president than Kamala Harris. What an embarrassment that she will be the first woman president in the United States of America, horrifying. You said Elizabeth Warren will have a prominent role. Maybe that means she'll be vice president. We don't know. What else? Okay. And then he then he began to talk about how that the frequency of crises in the world would lead to a outcry for some for someone to emerge on the world scene to help bring peace to provide world answers in the problems that are happening. And I think we could all agree and I'll say this quickly. You know, crisis is not a new thing. 20 years ago, we would hear about crises on the news, but it seems like, especially the last two or three years, the frequency and intensity of the crises have increased. There's no doubt about it. It's like the closer that a woman gives gets to, you know, giving birth, right? The birth pains become more intense and more frequent. So I feel like that we are coming to something. And here's how he said it. He said, because the people will look for someone to provide solutions to emerge to help bring peace between the contentious nations. He said that France wants another Napoleon, Spain wants another queen, Greece wants another Alexander, and Rome wants another Caesar.

"Known you for a couple of years, very impressed with what you do. Tell us in a nutshell, just give us the elevator pitch. What do you do and where do you come from? Sydney? Well, people are seemingly unfamiliar with the fact that I am actually Australian despite my bizarre accent. Which I am trying to get back just by the way, I want to sound more like you said than the yanks that are around us. So I'm Australian originally from Australia and YouTube to the United States in 2019 to basically pursue politics because Australians are by and large pretty disinterested in politics and kind of just found myself drawn into. I guess a bunch of drama in the last little while with the situation that you're referring to, which was getting screened out effectively by Jack Murphy, is a real estate his name on the show is here. Oh, I was going to mention it, but I'm so glad that you decided to mention it first because Jack Murphy is an embarrassment to anybody who has testicles. I'm not sure he does anymore, but we will discuss that. So you left the antipodes, you came here to be involved in politics. You wanted to speak like me, which I'm sorry most people think I have a South African accent that really annoys me. But what have you been doing for the last three years? And how have you been surviving COVID and tell people about what you do? Because your comment, you are like the long form version as far as I'm concerned, of libs of TikTok and you're not anonymous. Your brave woman who has these amazing films where you react to the insanity of the left. Am I misrepresenting you? Tell us, tell us your mission. We've got 3 million listeners plus the viewers. What is Sydney Watson about? Well, that is a fantastic question. I guess growing up in by and large of penal colony kind of made me realize that freedom is really important. And I actually have my bum to thank for that viewpoint because she's from Ohio originally and she is just this badass gung Ho woman that really, really cares about preserving what we have in the west and I think that's a lesson. And so growing up in that environment, of course, I was like, well, I hate people. "Ridge. John jr. medical. Gi's really but everyone can make climb to would have been. I don't think that's tricky. Because in any plot of land right you get this water but is it unique to your region. It might be right but also it really doesn't come from a region mountains one hundred miles away down top. You dig deeper. You hit the water table on other water table over here. I mean any plan. You get civil water table so all right places like not sushi. Nah yeah those are cool but okay. That's three. I just was in seminar. That kosecki says if you ever got to read any divided he's got. The alone has four major water. Yeah yeah yeah so. I've been century. Just run out of. Yeah but that's precisely why so. It was like okay explain it. It's like it's clearly comes off movie. The is there a man that's cool. I think the conservation while protect water. It's also really. I think it's time for the sake of but then the other side of the j. I creates awareness of the region so they critical resources that take snakes that a unique to the area the pride of the community the character of the community the preferred taste of the community in some ways. You know it brings. Food would something that way you'll get to enjoy. Which is the regional variety of japanese equities. Way nozoe well exciting for us which is maybe not getting to the infants yuma and so maybe through maybe a gi labeled psychic. Some of that information can be more clearly expressed just letting people know this worth paying attention. That's it's actually being worth considering. The places is like confining birds with little they production maybe it just being one representative bottle which could be like the kind of a token britian on the area and with some parameters louis but ultimately we neither these gi projects come from a place wanting to provide the right for example. It'd be bbn benefit of that whatever. They come positive whenever they call. It is probably going to be looked at as outdated twenty years down the road. Anyway look at a lot of the wine on stuff now pretty much all these systems. They made sense at the time that they put them together. None of them are inherently bad in and of themselves they were born at a certain time to phillies certain amongst the witness assert circumstance. But that conditionally to explain that and understand. There's this yard where there's a big question mark lots known for us here in japan cuts outside. That's an and the ad the whole point. That was maybe to give bigger identity outside japan as well by this year saying this second is produced in japan as neon share and saka which is purchased as of side of japan. As as japanese-style socket is seen this one. I'm not gonna mean the burri. There is one that is now selling sake in america a may according to what is it. It's made in america but it's made by a japanese Ma so they see they see that because it's a japanese brewing also tops and suggestions and delivering any sort itself out prize if he gets. But it's interesting denise second in japan's language sparta luquillo. You're either the food and it's going to be hard to say that second use in the. Koa is sorry. Second producing japan is part of the french cuisine. But if you think a little bit. I mean why not why would a. Why would a french seki not become part of critical zealand was not originally a wine producing straight. But it makes some pretty damn good pena. Noir knows I think that this is just about a little bit of brain shift does well. It's i really i mean. And and some of the one of them weaned to together justin while ago is really cracking Thinking about record food catch End so why else. In france as well. Why not stink or protect ourselves in korea in an era sorry where luke luke boots optical that has been a day a really great resources. That sackett brewers have which knowledge and that is something that needs to be detected in tunes that is a an incredible resist Which can also be used and exported and companies are now. Much knowledge can be in. Tim's developing knowledge in a winning like adult technical dunes kamenge. Yeah it could. But i think that we're offering a bit of a tangible. It's kind of interesting to me if somebody start talking to will but by her way now but in order to actually implement it one thing in because i spend time with a lot of us. Bruce is that the one thing they don't they need to be able to get better equipment right so in japan you can buy costa a used something like that right. Used food area used jabir. Does something like that because gazillion floating around the markets right. And when you give you instruction book you can read it right. The us have got a jury richest about everything. And i've seen so many brewers over there. It's like lucio in other words an steaming property but they can't really good horse so the the guy gets iago. Here's i needed to post game. Doesn't apply apply niagara my my my idea of knowledge. Nar how you give that kind of. What if i took about giving knowledge. It's not just like how you do at eight a big at site. You're going to need this. This is how we're going to need to develop this part of the industry and this missile started with distribution and things like that as opposed to not just distribution. It's all side dislike. That know how how to. You've got to have the equipment hell to make that equipment have rutland. Even if you don't have the equipment could still provide. Here's what it should look like your. Here's here's the characteristic so it has to be. It's it's a two pronged approach prisoners to bring It's a deep dive. "Table understand could occupy could on that very point could okay d. c. is the best selling so to independence a sweet potato made with black koji in In miano joel which is just to the northeast of kitty. Shima in southern la. I think it's just because of the consistency and how it's a. It's a black sweet potato. Showed you that. It's very it's annually. Approachable they make it at such scale. Seen as such makes me think of that coaching this is made with bet. Coach is yeah. It's got that that. Mary like juiciest. in a good way and it's and it's and it's really really affordable. Yeah what a lot of them and this is what's hot breaking. It's insanely affordable question from. This question comes from thinking. yes Why do you guys think show chew is so poorly known even pet brackets when it is so good. It feels like a market waiting to explode a. He's corrected story. I mean known to an innocent international audits. Yeah well yeah exactly yeah. That's a rhetorical question. I it's it's like the i guess at. We're not communicating to the end consumer and a way that is a fictive lay activating interest in purchasers. That's on us. That's not on the inconceiva- instead but that's not on the brewery. That's on the people who are in the distribution china the education change in the restaurant world but to be honest i think it's distribution. Though the people that are take responsibility for representing those brands domestically internationally maidment. You've got to make sure that the incan sima understands the charm and beauty. And what makes that showed what message gray. The bra also needs to be part of that of providing the information the transparent say to everyone The knowledge and the know how it's it's the in consumer is does isn't being activated right. Even you look at soccer have even some level of a concentrated effort at all. There's really only goes back. What properly years or so maybe right whereas coach you probably know being certain paying attention until there was a couple of booms here a couple of peace here which is yard looking into the early two thousands and whatnot so by the time anybody picks up on that and goes on. Gosh maybe we can do something like this. It's already only ten years ago so like have any sort of real concentrated effort where people can get behind it. It's like super korean. So so mrs a question or one of guests of the program okay robin. He's asking us about the. Jags really strong. How long have you. i think it's a fantastic marketing. I also think it's very very good. Forty image of and they are wise to have started it. but i think it's got limits and the reason it has limits is because suck is vague and i think for the system. You need something that says. Okay you can only make sock just like this all right whatever. The product is be cheese. Byu whatever you can only make this just like this right here for these reasons. Yeah i mean it's based on the the. Do say the they say which are not faultless. Systems. there are systemic problems with the systems. Why would fear. Want to replicate Something in the world which is a great a great idea fundamentally. It's a great idea that we all want to promote regional things says but if it's there as systemic issues with those original structures that it's being mitigated on wh- are we moving forward and vitaminized spacing on either on the right sometimes. Nobleman is the can be used about. We have base. yeah. I don't. I don't really think it's the stomach. I think before that there's going to be a bigger problem with the run up. Run up against very quick and most of the time most of the time they say okay you you do have to use ken side by rice from scratch. Most of the tackles. I think what is twenty ad ones right now. I think all of them. But in any event i think the problem is the way they do. It is when they apply they okay. This is what socrates. Cyclic food like delicate. They're gonna run out. Descriptors really quickly reasons so so i mean systemic problems are also there but we want to call it this this and this. That was taking three three prefectures ago. I just feel like it's just going to ban your bureaucratic nightmare as well produces gonna have any freedom to just is. You're right and i think it gets even deeper because once they have it. I mean not. Every producer has to make make any right and with any producer. Nobody's making all gi certified products stickers. Yeah what was it. Conforms to the committee to right. I mean and so and so. It's it's that restricting. In that way. But i think is it really worth it to go through all the paperwork bending over backwards on its up eventually gonna say i think some areas have a particular walter souls which which is not possible to tap into anywhere else apart back during small particular area. I'm thinking of probably somewhere like biking to have a.

"Now. Just take off the you know the brakes. Just let it go wild. You know generally get you by support system even if you're not putting on a label. I know it's there. Tom what it is but the other thing is is that i think we need something to guide and i include myself at number consumers. People need to know. Why does this cost way. That's what might possibly taste and then people are focused. That i remember see pictures of big white lick numbers of the same boy in the bible. As if that's all you got to pay attention like but when people are still going to need something to know why is this. Three thousand fifteen hundred or possibly expectance. What is it contagious. Malek so we need something and word of mouth might be enough not. We need a clear value proposition for the ball. Should i two dougie brewery and yamagata. The maker of famous brand could die. This is a damn big tissue to search with behind Initially still lambeau pasta. It's a cup of hot sets tonight and twice. It's twice still use it and it is made from my diagnosis seconds. Yeah so it's that kind of waste not want not defend so anything. That's that slicked. not going to be. yes but anyway. How about the coach. Neither book it doesn't matter because it seems kinda what's the word citric meaning maybe white or black. Excuse it by munger. That stuff may status. Yeah yeah that's that's that's looking for trouble on the custody. Show is really an unsung camera. There's so little you can extract from the leads. Nice to get into the big risen jew of various yeasts samaria But yeah so as many of you. I am rhonda for jeon die overseas So this is something. That is not exploited. It's actually something which is only sold to be in japan It's not exported overseas. But i just such a great drinking show. Cheerios were smoothly enjoying a meal. "Company grew. I've actually love for a a long time. And with the current president took over. He read more of a shift to mature socket to jokes. Issue than in the previous generation and kind of moved a little bit away from fresher. I like both head out. Haven't thanking joe called. Which i'm really but this is really good too and they mature a lot of socket and bill. Jim i for probably ten years about and again. The semi that decision about this i believe is a first foray into cute. Not and i did a lot of sack. I think this is the first time they made as kill chemists interest. Now i could be wrong. I wish that to suck you. One is like a blue labour. One is label at one. His slate drinking kool one is for drinking wall. Essentially the same. This ethic isn't that is it the maturity that's different between might be. They make sure a lot of second and it's good a but i'm actually quite happy with this. It's got a lot of money but it's out of our power. I think that's cool. What have you seen burris. Greenback is under see the other train. The i do the production but it definitely happens. It's also because consumers are demanding. I think and this is the question. Because brewers want megan. I really think that's happening. I want to try. This old traditional chemo. C-a-b-a interesting to me as a brewer. And it's just a good style. But i think it's more driven by what want to make then consumer absolutely i always a lot of birds will always wanted to do is just if they did it. They wouldn't be able to communicate but it was right now people kind of kind of the stat. you know. it's out that they can use it kind of as a marketing tool as well. The reasons different are you bury. You know a gruesome breweries of using motive for practical reasons celebrating a style reasons. I remember visit to in connecticut. I can make intimidate shutting the wife of criminal now. Let's a i mean. You've got so many veterans in florida extent. Pretty your hair is just sitting there and she has done. Tell me talk. You always want to try new things and save my second. Grab my mind the really colorful so it still currently the arashi season so this is the season roll. The lovely full second comes second. It's been in slumber throughout the summer. Developed a lovely kind of bounded character. And i haven't tasted so many heroes this year but i live this fuji's us. Oh in hiroshima in tokyo city in hiroshima and they make the brown do say and they had three hero. She wrote a long three hero. She each made with different rice variety and it was the multiple. Have miami ski and the other one was uncle but it was the macci one which copeland attention. I'm really finding myself falling to these second wet. Old flava comes at the end as opposed to power which really simply cobby. I'm thinking then everything is at the end. And there's a lot of mommy in there as well and i think just in general. I'm on seeing a bit of a movement from say yaman. Any ski could be controversial to sort of match. Seeing a lot of is moving to a mattia. What bruce starting to grow their own matches. Well most brewers despite their own not thrown from okano prefecture the a lotta bruce oxycontin to try and grow there it is notoriously the growth still also down like at number eleven actually could chose so when you said that moore at me think how although i agree. I see more matching out in terms of products yet. I don't see the numbers go. It's not gonna it's gonna take time it's slapped for you know it might appear to the small right. It's visible to us because of what we drink but an extra. that's lovely. Thank the brandon is really fantastic and the label is can affordable ultimate color. So yeah we go. I think we see what i mean by. Not these these products. Are i highlighted. Yes yet put forward brewery show this uncurable and next before would shows the previously. I would associate much guys with some tickets. You're my maybe not so highly-polished. I'm seeing a lot of a lot of to my job being made with all matchy and i'm getting really surprising. Seeding liking they still can deliver the same elegance as yemen. Initially but you get more than that and some flavors that you might not expect. I'm not suggesting that. I think everyone is going to fall in love with cheap accent. The kind of going that way. I've been there long time. I've had that beautiful affliction three years susan. I've always loved that much to me. It's really looking paul to. It's kind of bill away right whereas much degree needed to get. You know what. I mean if i were to draw it out. And that's why. I think quite a lot of them are much a higher sweet acidity which gives it. That strange shen. I think gives. But it's always been extremely appealing spiciness with sure. Yes old way. I don't wanna paint well not one brush because there are a lot of suck you out that with matching you can't tell right so it's up to the how much of that macci profiled actually impact right. But that you go so one thing. I wanted to talk about today and i might as well start up now. And what's really interesting. Is you to talk in a couple of minutes ago. when you say how. It's really great. The floors give more and more information and actually what. I was going to talk about tonight. I'm seeing the shift. The most consumers away from tech and toward what's in the glass in other words do of course the that is focused on the royal. Whether it's jim making does that stuff. And i i got that. But what have you done for me lately. What's this going to taste it smell like and i think it's a positive thing i think it's a cool thing. People do need to know what we need to continue to teach what grades are. How would say my isn't isn't the how and i'm actually seeing consumers be more interested in what has been actually taste and smell at the direction and and we need the information is always going to be geeks that dig at it get really into right but more people extending tastes like i think. That's a good direction. I think it's cool about that is slowly. I a brewers are starting to move away or to shy away from the greets right. Yeah right yeah told us told me. He thinks it'll be gone in ten years. Well that was one person's opinion as he's ten years gone. I think. I think we need it. We need it for a while that guides us but in end of the day it's all about. What have you done. Does this tasting smoothie after after a civil civil dreams heated and think you know i. I agree with what you were saying at the time that the needs we have. We have quite tak-taking shows recommending you. You were saying that needs to be simply it. And i completely agree with that but diagnose the problem is finding that turns it.

"Butt kicked off camera later So three years. Thank you for joining us. And sebastian is gonna join us right now and maybe you can tell us about what he just grew. Yeah good after good evening my email or should he have been booby kept my interest over the last two years difficult or the second mystery ease homage creativity within development and how despite the difficult economic growth economic environments breweries of investing their story and in the use of social yet to communicate the stories. Greenkeeper the products. So it's only one example. I brought today with our lots of them. But i'm actually quite excited to introduce this alpha eight second from movie. It's minka aristidis. That's the koji. Yes gorge was made from. Oh okay so there was. No bush ingles before the rice was used and while some second brood from gay mind before calculating koji iran and and they still use call because they could germany right. There could do actually germination the second that way but accused the coaching after. There'll be more research. But from what i understand from memphis is the owner of grew. Is that the right. Goes through a process equals amorphous where the rice is. She could up like for more process but they don't go as far as okay heating off. The rice is enough to start a change. In the molecular structure of starch of puddings of fads too low for could grow and then east side and so just things what is really interesting. He's i can't do that. Why it goes goes. I so not only are they. Not only are brewers innovating the releasing to giving people the information. Yeah telling us what they're doing here stood out and she's really. Yeah and it's just extinct. Speaks of my interest and yeah and how am i if you compare it to which is made with all your was a them and let it go that you could expect from from this but i think what we're discussing off-line before he's been in town. I mean it also said it looks like you said it's like a kind of eucalyptus eucalyptus to talk. I had nice dictation to just said the discovery crossing they took over the finish is really expand. Nazi and like it's continues to expand the year years. It doesn't it's a really long and really really clear and distinct almost an haute kind of flavor of love a good starting like in my sheets. They're not a lot of them. Is you know. This is a unicorn. Right and choose the same and they. They tend to be very grainy. Very nutty your asi absolutely is reloaded colorful in industry. "And carry it lasts. What does success this year. You know what our teachers administrator administrators saying. A successful school year looks like by the time. June rolls around. You know if you had asked me that back in april or may. Last school year. I would have said the metric of success might be how well school's caught kids from the previous year and a half of disruption and hybrid learning. But with this delta. Varian i i think how well district are keeping the disease from spreading out of control is going to be one of the biggest metrics of success this year in addition to howard catching kids up. I guess we're just adding to that on some things. We weren't expecting all that is. Wbz education reporter carry young. Carry great to have you. Thanks so much. Always happy to be here. Thanks you have come to know retired. Federal judge. nancy. Gertner here on the show over the years. We turn to her to help us. Come out all these legal and to be our guide through the morass that can sometimes be the criminal justice system. Well it turns out. She has been struggling with some legal demons herself. And she wound up turning to people sheet sentenced to help them out. She tells that story in her upcoming book. Incomplete sentences we caught up with judge gertner the other day and i began by asking her if by telling her own story. She's hoping to write some of the decisions she now feels were wrong. These are wrong. That i can't right because this was i write about the people i sent instead of seventeen year career but i think it was. I thought it was important. That people understood What these narratives were like who these people were and how little we paid attention to the details of their lives that i thought that that was important. We talk about criminal justice issues. Mass incarceration racial disparities. And we do all of that in the abstract. But we but. I wanted to describe concretely. What it's like to be a judge to sentence someone to a sentence which i believe to have been unfair and what that was like And what we can do about it now going forward and you felt it was unfair a lot of the time. Well i. i think it's fair to say. I visit judge from nineteen ninety four to twenty eleven and for half of that time even more than half that we had mandatory..

"But that we just kind of barely get into that because again. There's so much to do what i came back to that. You know. i'm not writing a book. I'm not wikipedia. I'm just trying to figure out what makes this guy tick like what it's a psychological portrait. I just try to think of it as much as anything. Like i'm never gonna win trying to tell every story so let me just really trying to understand how this guy thinks in. That became my kind of north star. And i know you watch every single moment of his life that was captured on film. And the funny thing is like you. People watch even the edited stuff right. And i think people have this weird memory that tony bourdain was this a credibly charismatic telegenic perfect tv host. And just as world traveler knew how to do it all and had the perfect protocol for every place but if you watch the first sort of three years the first season especially it's incredibly bad. It's really bad as really really bad at it. What do you think you saw. That made him get better do you. That was just tony being hard on himself or was it just the reps. I mean i it was i mean. I think everything got better. She got better. He got more comfortable The camera were got better like less cheese. He like home movie. Like but i think is writing and his voice got stronger and stronger. And it's it's interesting. Because after he died they finished a few episodes of episodes. They had in that they had never finished. And there's no ration- in episodes and in watching them. I i kind of remarked to the producer of it. I said there. There's kind of a melancholia to to watching without his voice over all over them and they said if you actually go back and watch a lot of the episodes if you take out the voice over. It's there and i think that thing we don't really think about is how much that whole show rested on his point of view and his voice. I mean that was that is the show in many ways like yes. They're great scenes in great vigils but the reason people watched it is because they wanted to see what he thought of things or see. You know him react to something. That just can't be overstated. That was that was his thing. And i think his voice was the thing that eat his writer leave. I mean that was he was a storyteller and he always said that the the only label he'd liked was writer when people call him chef. He said it made him very uncomfortable because he hadn't been in a kitchen in years and that was not really when he to be known for he wanted to be known as a writer. I think first and foremost in. I think the writing the narration of their shows in the books or the things that he was proudest of well. I mean it's crazy. 'cause i kind of can't imagine your film without his voice present to write a place. The voice overplays such a huge role..

"three year" Discussed on Strawberry Letter

"Started as friends just like most couples do and we got closer. He told me that he didn't want anything serious but he enjoyed spending time with me. We started having sex a month after we met and at that time i was very busy at work and helping my sister with her new baby so was not ready for anything serious either then. My guy tore his acl and he needed something someone to help him out so he came to stay with me for a week. I was crazy about him so taking care of him came. Naturally whenever we're together and his phone rang he'd tell the caller he was with me and he called them back. This made me confident about the direction. Our relationship with going. In so. I never asked him if we were boyfriend slash girlfriend. After two years we were stuck together like glue. If you saw him you saw me. That all changed last week's when we double dated with one of my girlfriends and her fiancee's they got engaged recently and they are so in love. You can feel it. My friend asked my guy if he'd been thinking about marriage and my guys spoke up and embarrassed me so bad. He said we're not that serious yet. We're best friends and we love each other but we are not exclusive. I'm aware of our status. And i'm not pressuring him for a titled stupid and holding back tears. He says he does plan to get married. One day when the time is right. What i heard is that i'm not the one. Is he wasting my time or or is he dating others to get it out of his system before he proposes. I'm so confused. Okay come on now. I really do not want you to be confused right now. I don't want that. I need you to be good and woke okay because this man just told your good friend and you what he really thinks of you in no uncertain terms and you heard him tell them so please be clear he said you're not exclusive. You are not exclusive. Which means yes. He's seeing other people okay and that marriage will happen one day when the time is right. Well if it's marriage you want with him you can no longer sit back and allow him and him only to define this relationship. You have a say in this to your in your feelings matter And if you've changed and you want more you have to let him know it's been three years and after three years you should feel extremely comfortable in expressing yourself to him and with a lot of confidence i might add remember. He had no shame no trepidation when he spoke his mind. So your friends and you should do the same. You should do the same. Otherwise you could be spending another three years in this holding pattern of a relationship not know where it's going and i know you don't want that steve speak up girl. Well this letter you explain your situation therapy so what you want our advice for. I don't understand you thirty four. He's thirty nine. Call him mark significant other. He'll call you know. Call him man significant And then you justify because he has yet to define our relationship. 'cause you ain't defined do what. What do i know him do 'cause all throughout the letter he show you what he gonna do. Pretty much ain't about nothing. Well you say we started as friends just like most couples usually worse but okay as we got closer. He told me he didn't want anything serious did don't you typed is so. Obviously you heard it. He told jud heated won't nothing serious but he enjoys spending time with me. We started having sex a month after we met well. That's really enjoyed spending time. When i was here and our bad busy at work helping my sister were her new baby so i wouldn't really ready for anything serious. Eat well see you got into relationship like a lot of people do you. And you won't something but you're talking about you and you won't need well. It sound like that in the letter because all what you have to table crying poll lehto if you see them guy tore his acl and he needed someone to help him out so he came to stay with me for a week. I was crazy about taking care of them naturally so now where he needs you for convenience. He now he need a woman. Now see needn't unserious but that see that torn acl. That's a serious injuries. So now let me cozy own up to this girl. That i'm using and i'm gonna go stay at her house where we called this series now but many go. He told you won't see it. Would that injury to tighten them up so now he all right. I'll tell you the rest of them when we come back. You heard him. We'll have part. Two of steve's response coming up at twenty three minutes after the hour. Today's subject three years later. We're still fran will get back into it right after this. You're listening to morning show all right. Come on let's recap today's strawberry letter the subject three years later. We're still friends. Where lady it you dating a man you just free and you say like most couples then are y'all got close and he told you i don't want none serious. He told you then top of the letter but you said he enjoys spending time with me or you know 'cause right after that y'all see y'all start having to six nine a month after we met. I know going to hear. Willie join us time. Which now you was okay with that. You say because he was busy at work and he was helping your sister with a new baby. So i was not ready for anything serious. Either they would let us say 'cause you wrote in whole time in the letter you sound like us. Thank you to get serious. Well then you got to is. He needed somebody to help them out so he came to stay with me for weeks. Because you know why because there's a serious injury so now here's your house for a week. You loved it. 'cause you crazy about it just came naturally as adults with a lot of women because a lot of women are very nurturing by nature. Women are the best nurturers in the world. So you had a chance to take care of. Somebody's show him. How much love him in high seas you are why he had a serious injury girl. You making it happen. And he'll go to part then. I really want you tell so. Taking care of him came naturally whenever we were together and his phone rang he tells the call that he was with me and he called him back. This may be confident about the direction. Our relationship was going. Whoa so you're ignoring the fact that the phone rang. Go down that you take away with that. Was he tell everybody. i'm i'm with her. Call us that that gave you did girl you forgot. He told you this what none serious and based on the conversation he tell that to everybody so now when the girls do call him on. The phone didn't already told them they got torn. Aclu stay with his free. I with her right now. I'll call you back. And they cool with that. 'cause he don't told them they ain't got none but mostly he didn't told them you aclu's and if you don't think he told him that that's why he's so cool the answering his phone because why he got. He put his phone on vibrate of haisam he ain't got to. He can leave it open. 'cause you ain't serious. He told you that but he told by joost. so not. that made you confident about the direction. Your relationship going here. So i'd never asked him if we were born free girlfriend mistake. After two years we were stuck together like glue. If you saw him you saw me. Then i'll change last week. When we double date with one of my girlfriends and her fiance. They got engaged recently and they are so in love and you can feel it. My friend asked my guy he'd been thinking about marriage. My guys spoke up and embarrassed me so bad. He said he's not that we're not that serious yet. See his acl fixed. He told you two years ago he wasn't looking for them sees he said we're best friends and we love each other but we're not exclusive now. What affect that you cut. Would he'd been asking a phone houghton what he told my friend that i'm aware of our status and i'm not pressuring him four title. He told the truth. He told you he didn't walnut series. He ain't never gave you a title and you know you aware because he told you that. And you ain't precedent for title because you say back in atlanta. You ain't never asked him if he was born free girlfriend. You said that so you can't get mad at this guy in this letter at all. I sit there looking stupid and holding back tears. He said he does plan to get married. One day when the time is right what i heard is i'm not the one. Is he wasting my time. Or is he dating others to get out of his system before he promotes. Wait a minute what what do you get this stuff from that you keep reading entities. You said he dating others to get it out of his system. Before he proposes he thirty nine. What thirty nine lady. What do you mean he trying to get. This is system therefore he proposed never told you wanted to marry you. He's never mentioned marriage to you. You didn't even his girlfriend and he told it to you to your friends. Why are you still there. Hoping and waiting is beyond me. What are you waiting for lady. You know the answer to all of this. Stop reading more into something that eight. They're all you need to do is go into say i want a title. I won't know what his relationship is. Are we going to have to end it. Bath going over two girls called. Thank you post your comments on. Today's shrubbery lettered steve harvey fm and instagram and facebook. Check out the strawberry podcast on demand. "From Nick and I'm Angela and War Warwick country in Derby remote far Northern Western Australia. I feel very privileged and honored to be able to live all those seem to be relocating learn and share the tools of yoga and meditation with a small wonderfully diverse community. So you both know that I love song. Love your podcast. And in fact, the reason that I became a patreon member was because I am so remote which is also a blessing I might add and I'm not able to attract and trainings in person very often instead. My only option is online stuff. I really felt that your podcast was providing me with another Avenue to stay current with the younger and well-being world and provided good learning and personal development materials Fire audio. So I felt in my heart that it was time. I start to paying for all that I was receiving from you both which brings me to a question. I'm just wondering if you guys have any ideas about how we can better foster connection and support yoga teachers in remote Australia, that doesn't involve screen time. I look forward to hearing your response and continuing to listen. All right by do you have thoughts more fish? I just likes a dog. Thank you Tara. And thanks for your wonderful comments and thank you for your patreon support. We really really appreciate it. I guess perhaps personally it is difficult to reach people without that online component and all I can I guess suggest is trying to and I know you probably have a good handle on who who is in your local community. But just seeing if you can meet up and in person and have have good discussions about yoga practice together. Yeah any thoughts Joe Walsh. So this is like a fantasy suggestion wouldn't it be amazing? If a group of teachers who were in remote areas, but kind of maybe in the same state could get together and maybe like rent a beautiful property and like everyone would pay for the food and the property rental, but everyone we contribute wage Just to the weekend and then you'd also have that hang out time together and that time of like Sungha and Community Connection. That's not just practicing together. It's the talking. It's the chilling its tongue out as having this like beautiful space where you can just be this relies on someone being an organizer, which is not a job that would totally be worth it. And I thought that would be amazing. It's actually something that we get the pleasure of doing here in Victoria with a beautiful group of teachers. It's kind of a retreat weekend and maybe if the weekend isn't achieved if it's pretty much Logistics day where it would only take three or four teachers to each contribute a practice session that everyone could do and then you could have a lunch you could have a discussion and I do really feel you on the in-person connection. It's so different online and hopefully this might spark some ideas off. Plants and seeds and I'll open up our Facebook page if there are teachers who would like to connect like that..

"We speak with inspiring movers thinkers and teachers about how they find their flow and much much more would like to honor the Elders of the wisdom traditions of yoga that originated in India. We'd also like to honor the traditional custodians of the land on which this podcast is recorded the orangery people and Nation. Yeah. Well, I hope you are doing well out there. It looks like restrictions are gradually being eased and we're very happy about it, right? Yep. Yep. Yep got a great episode lined up for you today. It happens to be our three-year anniversary episode. So last episode I might have accidentally said that Divya collie was going to be the next one this one that I was wrong. So Diego here we are before we continue. I just like to let you know that this episode was brought to you by our sponsor yoga Australia registering teachers wage. Training courses to ensure that everyone in Australia has access to Quality yoga teachers. So it is a very special episode for us. It's three years since we started the podcast saying it will be five years since my stomach was removed when this episode comes out and that's a pretty special occasion for me. Pretty Monumental has also on the day we're recording this. It's my dad's birthday. So happy Birthday Dad, but honestly, he's never going to listen to this. Happy birthday Gary. So as we've done in the past for our one and two years anniversary episode, we've going to have a bunch of guests asking us the questions. So we get to answer the questions, right? Yeah, pretty exciting. All right. Are we ready to go? I've read. All right. Well first I'm going to play a question from Giovanna Heyman. Hi, Ron, and Joe, thank you so much for reaching out to me and happy anniversary. I'm so happy to celebrate these three years with you and all the incredible work. You've done to educate us and inform us about what's happening in yoga. I I love your work and I'm so grateful for you. And I hope you'll have another three years of exciting conversations. Like you've been having unless you're tired of it. But I hope you're not. Anyway, I I'm so grateful that you asked me to ask a question of you so often. I'll ask you a question that's been on my mind and and maybe you can give me some insight actually. This is something I'm writing about a lot as I'm preparing for my new book and I'm I'm really looking for some help. So the question is, you know, the world is going through a very difficult time right now with covet and off other factors. It feels like actually yoga in particular seems like it's really going through a transformational moment in the West in terms of the way. It's being presented and taught because yoga studios are closing and a lot of yoga teachers are out of work, but my question is do you think that there's a way we can rebuild yoga the yoga Community? I should say moving forward with an emphasis on more ethical practices and a focus on social justice Equity wage. And.

"Think Caleb Porter will do just fine in the second year as the manager of the crew FC Cincinnati well, hell was certainly real that first game giving up four goals to Columbus, but if you look at the crew what they did in the next two matches. Yeah I think that's a pretty good crew team whereas. For FC Cincinnati the did rebound, and they picked up a one nil win against Atlanta united, if see granite, yes, Atlanta had ten men on the field. You know getting a ride card. We'll do that combined or straight read, but hey, a will win is win and this sets up a very interesting. Match Tonight at eight PM Eastern, Cincinnati or FC Cincinnati we'll take on the New York Red Bulls formerly. The metrostars way back in the day. A Win FC. Cincinnati then and they'll move on to the round of sixteen. A tie well FC Cincinnati A. They should be, but there is a couple of situations that will give the nod to New York a loss that pretty much puts New York in because right now, New, York and Cincinnati. Record! And group eat. The, other teams that have clinched a spot in the round of sixteen, you have Orlando and Philadelphia and Grew Bay groups got San Jose and Seattle Group See Toronto FC a New England. Group D. Sporting Kansas City in right L. Salt Lake. Also looks like Minnesota. Modern clench does well. Keep in mind. FC Dallas a Nashville withdrew from the tournament. I thought Houston did too, but it's. Looks like they're not advancing group F. Again, Group D advancing is Sporting Kansas, city, rail, salt, Lake, and Minnesota Groupie Columbus right now, and that sex spot is up for grabs again. FC Cincinnati with a win or a draw or more likely advancing a win will definitely put them in. Group F Portland the former home of Caleb Porter and Los Angeles Football Club. And that's your look at the knockout stages. Last Day of the knock out. Stages will be tomorrow. And your final will be August eleventh at eight. It'll be on ESPN and tsn. Which I thought was like Toronto Sports Network. I think it's just the sports network. It's like ESPN Canada if you will semi I. Finals Begin August Fifth and. Quarterfinals Begin. July thirtieth round of sixteen will. Little bit later. July twenty fifth Orlando City will have the. Three CD. OF THAT GROUP some of the matches already determined. Philadelphia New England. And that's it. Why thank you the listener? Mean, throughout the three years, if I didn't have any listeners I, don't know you know if all was for naught, but yeah I appreciate all of you and I don't know what the future holds for this podcast I'll still continue on, but live streaming. So the first question, a god in Maui mailbag is from these sports stance. A shortened season. Do you think the reds have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs? Yes I do. There's actually two questions from the sports stance. Thank you very much folks, but yes, I do and I'll tell you why. That lineup that the redskin offering day in day out S- I. Pitching wise starting pitchers I feel great about. I think they are going to be fine the starting five. Bullpen however. Well last. Year didn't start off to be. A crutch of the team but As the season wore on. The bullpen got gassed I. About that and I worry about you know some the arms. I coming in, I mean Pedro stroke did pick up his. First Exhibition win yesterday. We'll talk a little bit about that. But. I think you'll be okay. I think yes. The reds can get to the playoffs in a short and sixty games season. Can you believe that the season opens up later on the week? Reds, first game will be against the Detroit Tigers on Friday. This is so weird. Say I mean. And the reds opening up season had an exhibition game yesterday against a team. That wasn't another Cincinnati reds team. So I don't know maybe I'm a extreme pessimist on that, but the second question from the sports stance. Will Joe Borough throw for twenty plus touchdowns this season, and will the bengals not finishing last place in the AFC north. Yes, and yes, and here's my reasons why? Joe Burr I. Think is going to be a tremendous quarterback. Course short time in college ball and having his best season last year.
