A Prayer for the Right Pace
"Prayer for the right pace, written and read by Ashley Moore. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down. Especially the sin that's so easily trips us up and let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12 one. I wouldn't call myself a runner. The longest distance I've ever pounded out on the asphalt was just over three miles for a run, a city hosted. In an attempt to prepare, I wanted to go a little extra and sharing that comrade day, I would successfully complete the mileage required. If I wanted to finish the race, I had to practice. I spent many days leading up to race day, lacing up my sneakers, stretching my calves, and hamstrings, and charting my course for the day. But the learning curve was steep. I would start off strong, allowing that anticipation and nervous energy to fuel me. But then I hit a wall emptying my energy reserves too quickly. I realized running was all about finding the right pace. What about you? How was your pace of life? Your feet hit the floor every morning in a hurry to check your email and get work started so you can coast into the evenings and weekends. Or are you more of a procrastinator? Do you postpone tasks until they can no longer wait, leaving yourself and others in a frenetic crunch to meet deadlines? For me, depending on the day, and task, I fall into both extremes. But that's what both of those categories are. Extremes. And the truth is, there's a healthy tension or for our purposes, there's a healthy pace. Remember the nursery rhyme about the tortoise and the hair, slow and steady is the pace we're looking for because as Christians, we're playing the long game.

Was Gary Devore's Death the First Proven State Sponsored Killing?
"So basically this detective puts on a bunch of scuba gear and goes into this aqueduct with about 15 feet of water. And he finds the truck, he finds it. He locates it and says, I got him. You know, but there's no laptop and the skeleton in the car, which was Gary devore, has no hands. And in addition to having no hands, there are a lot of other things about this official report that were suspicious because now the police and the sheriff's department took over with reporting on this. His laptop, which contained the script called the big steel, and his gun, which he always carried, they were missing. And by the way, the aqueduct was searched extensively during the initial disappearance and they had no success, and it showed no signs of impact. And for the official account to work, Gary devore would have had to have driven three miles against traffic without being seen. And also, by the way, let's not forget this. His lights weren't on. So the drive would have been in complete darkness. For three miles, going against the grain of traffic. And according to a Hollywood investigative reporter, Donald crutchfield, who worked for many famous people like Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando. He said, evil knievel on his best night couldn't do this. So I know this all seems unbelievable. But that's exactly why doctor Alfred spent almost ten years investigating whether somebody or some organization had Gary devore killed. It's very difficult to actually prove something happened like a murder, but you can prove that something didn't happen like an impossible accident. How can you possibly turn around on a freeway and drive three miles against traffic with your lights off? If those facts are accurate and a bunch of experts say it would not have been possible, then you got to go so far as to say, you know, you've proven the first state sponsored killing in the United States. And therefore, the murder had to have been a cover up and our government kept it secret.

This probably a crane or one of the booms which had collapsed then. There was the sound of an explosion and then a fire about five. To seven seconds later there was a massive explosion that destroyed the entire facility. It was one of the largest explosions in history up until that point pilots in the air at the time saw a fireball three miles into the air. The blast was felt in boulder city nevada. Four hundred thirty miles away. There was damaged onto buildings in san francisco forty eight miles away debris landed over two miles away and the plane which witnessed it said it's all white hot debris shooting past it. At an altitude of seven thousand feet. It coastguard fireboat near the pier was thrown six hundred feet or one hundred and eighty meters away where it eventually landed in the water and sank. There were three hundred and twenty men and the peer when the explosion occurred all of them died instantly. Two thirds of the dead. Were african american enlisted men who were working on the dock. In fact this explosion by itself was responsible for fifteen percent of all of the african american deaths in the second world war. I've got a previous episode on the halifax harbour explosion during world war one. The portugual explosion wasn't quite as large. But it wasn't too far away the biggest difference and the reason why the fatalities were lower. Portugal is that there were no civilians on the base. There were two hundred and fifty other injuries and of the men who were killed only fifty one wherever identified an inquiry was launched only four days after the explosion and the ruling was that it was probably the fault of one of the enlisted men. Nothing was mentioned about the poor safety conditions and the lack of training

Yeah when you said that like that was a shift in my because these are things that i think about what you put words to it and so getting to a place where we earned the right to do more advanced things. What Your Pre-Run Warmup Routine Should Look Like
"Let's Hop on over to those questions and this is from jenny who wonders about warm ups and she seems to have stopped to call in this question. Which i know you always love. Hey guys it is. Jenny from allen texas and i m in the warm up a temple workout in one of your half marathon training plans and then just thinking should i be doing strides in this one. Look like in the one mile warmer i into some work I worry about this Wonder it and say that you can answer this question. Take care guys many happy. Well hello jenny. Speaking of the portland retreat or forward to seeing you add it. I know you and some of your buddies from texas convening here so looking forward to that okay all right back to your question i agree. It can seem jarring to jump into a really challenging. You know kinda turn on the turbo jets to do tempo. Or you know other speedier work after quote unquote just a mile or two warm-up i find the older i get the more time i need to warm up so i'll share what i do But i coach timoti offer guidance. Well i think i think The amount of warm up you need directly correlates with age. So i mean i feel like you know if you were a twenty five mile would feel really long. Can't we just get this workout. So i think you know what we did in most the train like a mother plan. Is we try to be super efficient with your time knowing that. You know we don't want to give you. I mean there are some plans for sure that have longer than sixty minutes on the weekdays marathon and training plans and that kind of thing because you have to put into mileage there but we really want to make you know be able to give you work outs. That are compact bite size and doable as possible. So the good news is that you can add anything like as long as you're going at an easy pace you can easily add onto a warm up at onto a cool down. There is no problem there. So if two miles feels better if two and a half miles feels better. You can absolutely do that. You're going to talk a little bit about dynamic warm ups so we can talk about that as well. That might also be a good way to kind of get your body blood flowing and then go into a mile but if you feel like you need one point three miles one point. Seven miles in your schedule allows for

Uh, once we had a chance to kind of survey the damage throughout the Metroplex is the storm's moved through the other day. Brad joins us in the Weather center right now, and you are right on track there. It does Look like in fact, Brad that we did see tornadoes and weren't Straight line winds as much as that was tornado damage We saw Monday night, right? Yeah. What the reason I said that that there be multiple tornadoes because we had so many multiple tornado warnings going at one time. It was like we couldn't get one morning out before the next one came out, So they all happened within the space of about a couple of hours. But the two biggest ones in the damage survey. The one was near Bluhm. Actually in the Northern Hill County. That was an EF two that had maximum winds of maybe 130 MPH. It was on the ground for about Three miles about 150 yards wide, and that took place about 7 15 7 20. It did quite a bit of damage to outbuildings and small homes, things like that. Took off a roof and that sort of thing That was the strongest one that was up to, I think, 130, then the other one that knocked off those knockers semis off. That was in Ellis County. That was an EF two as well with 120. Mile per hour winds, and that's the one of course that produced at least one fatality from one of those drivers. Unfortunately, who was knocked over there on the road, and then the other. Other two were in Good and Johnson County's They were weaker, and we had one up it Weston in northern Collin County of just a little bitty one, But he did touch down to a little bit of damage in far northern Collin County says five tornadoes in the space of about 34 hours. So in Ellis County, you you talked about it early on. What was the damage like they're I mean, where were we talking structures? Are we talking trees or Both. You know, I'm I'm.

And they're doing a drive through ice and snow Sculpture Park at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. How was it? I said it was out there. Yeah, Yeah, you also so that you can get your tickets and 30 minute increments or, you know for a 30 minute time period have to wait a little bit to get in. As you know, the other cars are going through. But I can imagine with younger kids and you're looking for something fun to do Pop Some popcorn. Put the kids in the car and you drive through because there's just these amazing ice sculptures as you go through and who's and Oz and you go about three miles an hour. And then the end. You could get some food truck food if you'd like No, there there, too. But it goes through a lot. You see them? I talked Booth. It takes a right turn there right in front of it. And then you get as you kind of go down. There's all these different companies that have had And communities represented that have these really fun snow sculptures? Of course, you know. There's a man DeLorean and there was a baby grow goo. Those were by far our favorite. There was some really cool art there, and then there's questions leading up to it. As you're waiting to get in, just kind of some fun, fun. Some fun facts about the winter carnival and Oh, no, It was a really good time. And you left you went Four miles from your house more than four miles. Yeah, guys, I You know, we'll go for rides once in a while, but this one's really nice, especially if you're looking for something fun to do. That you don't see it. You see the cards in front of you, But you're not mingling with anyone. You're in your car. The only thing you do is give him that your ticket and then off you go. Supercedes happened. It's super safe, super safe to take pictures and you know when you guys when a carnival it's a tradition, man, it's it's again. I saw some of those sculptures on Friday. When Shane was out there and I saw the grow group was like, Oh, look. Look at baby Yoda. I loved it. I loved it to go to the winter Carnival hashtag Be like Lex. Yeah, he goes through next Sunday, the seventh. So there's still time and there's some daytime available night. We went at night, but Hey, good stuff. Speaking of the weekend, just t O put a little thing on this. So some gift wrapping. I wanted. Look, I spent a lot of time just with like Bea Arthur picking on her. I spent a lot of time picking on poor Phil Jones, unpaid researcher and let's be honest. He deserves it most of the time, but I have I have to say thank you because I did a little collaboration with with the free house this weekend. And Phil Jones was like first in line and it was nice to see him and look, I want to softly smother him some days with a pillow, but he's always he's always there to support and I greatly appreciate it and a lot of other my talkers and watch your soul. So when we weren't doing that When Lex wasn't in her car. She's back at home. We were all watching a lot of TV. Um, I want Oh, and I even forgot to put one thing on there that I can't wait. Oh, yeah, I didn't put it on there. But let's start with drag race. Shall we? Can you go ahead? You can take a nap for a few minutes. You're gonna say who is your favorite candy? No, can you? Well, I was gonna do that, too. So Um okay. Where do we begin? First of all, did you guys watch untucked? Yes. I didn't watch untouched yet one that's on my list to do today. Oh, I usually skip it, but I was told to watch it. Good. That's too. It was kind of you have done. Yeah, it was just on in the background and all of sudden I was like, Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I need to sit down. Watch this Is it between candy musing? Uh to Misha? Yeah. Oh, boy. Yeah. What do you think, Lex? Overall, you're with your thoughts about the episode about the episode Got me, General. Yeah, just wow. The so it was a ball that and they had each had three different looks. One of them was a D I y make something out of bags and they had a big pile of different kinds of bags. And I love those challenges because you know, it's d I y there. Taking something and making fashion out of it, And it really kind of differentiates like who actually makes their own clothes and also a level of taste. Just because you can make it doesn't mean that it's going to be amazing. Like to Misha is a good example of that is overdone. Sadly, yes. Yeah, but then some shining bright stars. Of course, the top two got Mick. Utica. Amazing. I just thought, Wow, they can really make some clothing and that this this set the style. The level of taste is there so I was really happy to see them at least the top two. Dawn. Oh, gosh, I absolutely love Utica this week. I mean, She couldn't be nicer Also, that's her. That's her helping out La La Brea when she doesn't even know how to sew, and I can every single year I just scream at my TV. Learn to sew even inside for the show, you know, like I can't even believe people go into this competition without even using or knowing how to thread a machine like You know the show you put in an afternoon, Get the basics down of sewing and help yourself so much in this In this competition, it can't just, you know, it's gonna happen several times where you're going to have to sell. I mean, this is like something that's like in every other week. Currents. Yes. So that was a pretty shocking I'm just so over Candy muse. I just you know, And maybe they're just editing it that way. I'm sure she has some good qualities. But I just the negativity. I just want to show that is to Misha Amon like I seriously would watch a spin off. You're gonna love it tough to then. She is so funny. Like just she put her in her place. Oh, good. Okay. Yeah. Oh, yeah, she did, but The beginning of it felt very awkward. Do you think so? Jace Like to me? She came blazing, like ready to fight. And that was a little bit like Yeah. And for all of you that don't watch you should know like to Misha. Is the oldest queen on the cast. She's 49. So the younger Queens are kind of coming for her, and she just just doesn't care. She and the one that we keep mentioning Candy muses the quote unquote, just like the bachelor has a villain. They're kind of setting up candy to be the villain, and I think it's warranted. I don't think I don't think she can blame editing. I think that's just her. Now. I know some people that love her. I do not shy. Find her grating. I find her irritating. I see. You know, she calls it confidence and that's what the whole fight is about An untucked. Confidence or or area arrogance. I said, I don't care what candy calls it. Don't even think it's confidence. I see right through it. It is nothing but insecurity. I see her bravado and her loudness and, um, I don't think it's confidence. I think it is. It's a secure. It is a force field. That she is putting up. It's it's to protect herself from whatever she's had happened to her in her life. Um yes. Oh, I didn't. So that was one takeaway. I think we're gonna have a nevan flow with her because she'll open up about something and then we're gonna go. Oh, I doubt it for me. No, I won't have or flow..
