Happy Talk (MM #3964)

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason, I've grown up in and around the media, with a father starting in radio than moving into TV, me thinking about going into TV, but ending up going into radio, the media has been a part of my life literally forever. And the one thing that has always driven me crazy or at least since the 1970s is what's called happy talk. You see it with your local newscasters where they start talking back and forth. Back in my younger days back in the good old days, we only had one news anchor reading to you. Then of course they added a second person, and a third person, and then when they had to interact with one another, they had all this happy talk. The stuff that doesn't matter, the stuff that's not the news. We've got a local TV station here that focuses on happy talk and bringing you the brighter side of life. But guess what? It's just boring. More importantly, I want to know about the crime we have in town. The problems we have in town. I realize news isn't always upbeat. I want the real details. It's all around us and it's been around us now for 40 50 years. I just kind of wish at this point in life it would stop because we don't need the happy talk. We need the straight talk, and that's more important.

Nick Freitas: The Left Constantly Challenges the Faith of Others, Calling Them Racists or Bigots

"Well delegate Nick freydis I think he was on their show several years ago is a Republican from Virginia And he heard about enough And so he stood up And here's what he said To delegate Scott and beyond delicate Scott cut three go I was asked by a colleague of mine on the other side of aisle someone I actually deeply respect And she asked me was I going to be nice this session And I thought it was an interesting question I don't particularly think of myself as a nice person but I can see how sometimes people would see that differently But you know what I've never done mister speaker I've never got on this floor And I've challenged the faith of an elected official because I disagreed with them on policy I've never gotten on this floor mister speaker and suggested that the other side of the aisle were racist because they didn't agree with my particular policy positions I've never suggested they were sexist because they didn't agree with my particular policy positions But I'm keeping a running tally so far of this session We're not very far into it In almost every day almost every day someone on the other side of the aisle either gets up and either subtly or comes right out and suggests that if you don't agree with them on policy well then you're not a Christian You're a sexist You're a bigot You're a racist But the moment someone actually stands up and says wait a second No I'm not going to accept that If you want to debate me on the merits of our particular policies I am happy to have that discussion but the moment you claim with no evidence other than we don't agree on a particular policy position the moment you claim that that makes us racist or sexist or bigoted mister speaker I've got news This was tried during the election cycle

Why Does Robert Wilkie Know so Much About British Culture?

"I want to talk about your incredible military history before you serve this nation as a civilian in the Defense Department and then as secretary in the veterans affairs administration, but explain to our listeners on millions of lists across the nation, why on earth, an American knows so much about British pop culture? Well, I was fortunate, and it was fortunate that came out of hard times. My father was badly badly wounded in the invasion of Cambodia. And the only thing that kept him in the army was the good graces of a great general great neighbors, said no, we're going to overrule the medical board when to give this officer three years to recover and if he can go back to fort Bragg, we'll send him there. And as part of that recovery, he was sent to the United Kingdom. First is liaison officer at the royal school of artillery, and then to aldershot was he got healthier to the 16th power. And I was blessed to attend one of the great schools of the cathedral school in Salisbury. And the bishop's palace, my study hall was in the room where handel composed the messiah. Oh my gosh. One of the three copies of Magna Carta was something we saw every day when we went to sing in the cathedral. Eleanor of Aquitaine was kept in prison by her husband husband, Henry the second in what was our rugby field? Oh my gosh. So the history was just dripping off of the walls. And British popular culture, of course, animated much of America in the 1960s. But what struck me was how real the war was. You mean in the minds of the British people. And also tangibly, in that you could go to a city like bath. And look on that beautiful Georgian Crescent and you see pop marks all over. No Coventry or Coventry and the cathedral that have been

Michael Anton: This Regime Has Concluded It Will Not Make Any Compromises

"But I'm getting concerned I mean we have this new domestic terrorism unit Notice with the founding of the unit they talk about these and we're worried about this at this massive growth and white supremacists and all this stuff As if this threats around every corner And there used to be kind of a check on this stuff and it was the ACLU types who went back in the day decades ago were principled that they would defend it literally the Ku Klux Klan I mean we used to have groups like Rage Against the Machine These pop culture groups They are the machine now Michael I mean you got Neil Young who didn't have a tour called the free speech tour once calling for Joe Hogan to be censored on Spotify It seems like the overlap of the spheres where we at least believe in dialog is now gone and now that that emergency breaks gone I'm a little concerned where this is going to go Well I'm very concerned I think what has happened is the people in power the regime as I call it has concluded that it's not going to make any compromises It's not going to meet red America halfway a quarter of the way a third of the way Any part of the way It's going to keep doing what it's doing in consolidating its power and reaping the rewards and essentially leaching the heartland dry through outsourcing financialization and opioids and all of these other policies And it knows that as it does this it's making red America deplorables et cetera More and more upset angry and desperate and the only way to deal with it in the regime's point of view that anger desperation and so on this is just cracked down hard You can't treat a people's a 100 million However many of them there are A 100 million a 150 million people like this in perpetuity and not expect some kind of angry backlash So they want the message prepped upfront that when and if the angry backlash comes in whatever form however small however however apparently justified it's not justified It's insurrection and Civil War know your place shut down shut up and sit down and whatever power we use against you will be

Michael Anton Previews American Greatness Article 'The ‘Civil War’ Psy-Op'

"What I've noticed especially around the anniversary of January 6th which got ridiculous over the top coverage in the mainstream press Just modeling recollections of an event let's remember I think the total death toll was 5 If you include the capital police officer who died of a preexisting medical condition the following day after having been falsely reported in the mainstream prestige press of having been beaten to death by with a fire extinguisher by a capital hill protester completely false didn't happen absolutely untrue of the other four as my recollection is correct One of them was shot by a capital police officer We certainly know that the unarmed woman Ashley babbitt And three others were protesters who also died of preexisting medical conditions although there's some possibility in Julie Kelly's reporting in others that a woman may have been trampled in part by capital police and there's video of this and nobody has seen all of the video and they're trying to cover up the I don't know I haven't followed the story carefully but Julie Kelly is the main person who's on top of that trying to figure out what happened to this one person and she's being stonewalled So again an insurrection a Civil War level event which results in 5 deaths none of whom or Police officers except the one who died of a preexisting medical condition And the others are a medical event I mean it's preposterous It's an obvious lie So why are they doing it Well my view is they're doing it because they want to say red America deplorables Trump supporters Republicans conservatives are gearing up to fight an insurrection and this justifies all kinds of surveillance and entrapment intrusive tactics pretrial detention no knock Don raids by the FBI All of these things that the American people when they see them happen think gee this is terrible and not part of the way the American justice system is supposed to work They want to be able to say no no no we have to do this The threat is so grave that we have to do this so that the American people will give them give them the past with this kind of behavior That's what I think is going on

"Their abilities and culturally. We settle for the abilities. Well yobbo take furious notes. That was really good. Yeah she talked about a number of different things that because she said threes are disconnected from feelings. And that's something that i deny if i with a lot especially growing up For me appearance emphasis on grades. So i made the best grades. It's like oh grades thing. Okay watch this. You know made the best grades and there was a incentivize making good grades too so you best believe so. It was all about great so it was funny. Almost second Born i have an older brother a younger brother a younger sister and brother make all the mistakes. And so i would watch that and say okay. I get it. That's how you mess up. And i just avoided that and then poured myself into what it meant to achieve in. I did that and you know. I saw my brother have girlfriends and break up in. You know have heartbreak in watch that affect his day. And i was just like okay. I'll just disconnect myself from that feeling. So that i can just be focused on results and You know she said that threes are easy to take advantage of. Yeah java heard that before. I had not heard that before but it could be so true. Yeah absolutely so. The world values outcomes right. So as i'm a having being successful like people applaud that but they don't realize the disconnection from feelings that can occur in order to prioritize achievement. So that was really insightful. Well it'll brutal. Yeah emma d think nashville is a three city like she thinks dallas is a city. I think so. I mean i feel like some of the artists i know and the performance i know are threes. Not all of them. Some of them are more introspective. And things like that but the threes that i know or some summit artists i know are threes. When we're trying to find guests it feels like finding a male or female. Three is like shooting fish in a barrel here and so it feels like there are a lot in our city. What did you think emma. Based on what suzanne was saying. I think i resonate to with the disconnected from emotions and feelings so my family dynamic is. I grew up as one of eight kids. Five older brothers one older sister and one younger sister. So i'm the second to youngest so definitely the one of the babies if not you know like on that side of things and One of my earliest memories. I don't know if i've ever told you this any but like literally. This happened at our dinner table. Because there's ten voices if you count our parents all trying to chat about their day. My parents do. We're gonna have as many kids we're going to have order here and there is going to be you know are going to be that perfect home school family who all the kids are well behaved and so we were definitely like if we would get sent series if we knocked over a glass of milk or something anyways we would get thirty seconds or a minute around the dinner table one by one to tell talk about our day and to share our stories so very quickly i realized one. I can't talk to talk like you know people who they grew figure they women especially get to the end of their thought after a lot of processing processing so i was never allowed to really do that so when i became very very calculated like in my head literally and i did this for years after that until college and i realized i do this but like literally coming up with sentences that was going to say before they before i spoke them and i never realized that was unhealthy. I thought it was just a me thing. I didn't know if it was. I didn't know anything about any graham. And i didn't really relate it to my childhood until recently but in the other part was i learned that if i wanted to. Wow my audience. Which was my family. At the time i needed to tell either like a sob story to get emotions or i needed to tell an amazing story about my whatever achievement for the day. Something crazy that. I saw to to get them to notice me and then also with grades i got a lot of you know i was able to get and it was more than my parents. I was trying to get my parents not as much my siblings. Definitely i wanted my parents attention and so with my dad. I i got it through good grades putting on a pretty dress in parading around the house and with my mom. She was a housewife and cleanliness and organization. So i i would help her in the kitchen all the time and i would make meals and then i would run up and organize my whole closet and say mom and grabbed her by the arm and that was only time i could physically take her away from her task at hand to show her how i was helping her around the house so definitely have a very strong too and i don't know what you're doing. Yeah so i think. But i. I definitely learns. I thought that was joy or that was was to do these things that make other people around me happy and never gave one thought to how that affects me and what i feel at the end of the day so that can go to that taking advantage of threes and the weird thing about it is being three if you're taking advantage of you almost don't even realize it because if you're three wing to like like we are you get something out of that. Yeah i get something out of serving. Yes so it's like you're performing you're achieving. And.

thirty seconds suzanne nashville three ten voices java eight kids one Three threes one younger sister one older dallas a minute one of one thought three city Five older One second

"S. at the end <hes> this is a noun from fifteen fifty two. It's definitely related <hes> so the first one actually was an adjective and this is a noun so that's where the difference comes comes in <hes> we just have synonyms man eater and cannibal next. We have anthroposophy anthro p. O. s. s. o. p. h. y. <hes> this is a noun from nineteen sixteen a twentieth century religious system growing out of the easy and centering on human development anthroposophy is a noun next. We have an three m. a. n. t. h. Yes you are i. This is a noun from circa eighteen thirty nine any of the genus of tropical american plants of the arum family family a. m. with large often brightly colored leaves a cylindrical spandex or spade aches and a colored spaeth. <hes> hispanics is s. P. a. d. i x. And spaeth is s. p. a. t. h. E. two words i'm not familiar with <hes> the algae says has this is from the greek and those which means flower plus era. Oh you are a which means tail and there's more at the words anthology and <unk> asks a s s next. We have anti a. n. t. I it's the first form of three <hes> and it looks like these will be the last four for this episode. <hes> this is a noun from seventeen eighty eight one that is opposed. Now we have the second form of anti this is an adjective adjective from eighteen fifty seven and it just has the synonym opposed and here we go with the third form of anti it's a preposition from nineteen eighteen fifty three opposed to and <hes> they synonym is against. I am going to go ahead and pick the word anthropomorphized as has the word of the episode <hes> it's probably the one that i talked the most about <hes> in terms of my personal feelings other than maybe anthropocentric <hes> but <hes> yeah i think it's interesting when we do this either consciously or unconsciously alright that will be the end of the episode. Thank you very much for listening and until next time this is spencer reading the dictionary goodbye..

"As if it were flat all quarter mile away quickly and vanished and was gone and not yet but you know kind of so if you work for myself yeah Alex wrote it up as those are normally alternate dimension and figured some day I get a chance the whole world listening to this show yeah share that story with you it was amazing and in a way thank you for telling me to do that is that a moment and I believe in hello what do you think it members what do you think that I have no idea but it clearly has something to do because when I asked to be more detail that it want to get long winded but with the statement but I said okay Lori this three thirty three three thirty three what is it means that you only something I mean it's got to the point in war I see things in series of three I see other numbers like four forty four three now sets of three it's getting the point where I seriously need to ask somebody what is this me and you know you're sort of like the catalyst well I'll tell you what I know about it I'll tell you what I know about about three three is in many ways the most special number in biblical numerology which is not something I'm an expert on but I I come across it a lot if I did I just came across this when I was mishing this Moses book I was working on it it this is a number that stands for completeness for wholeness and in that way it stands for both so something's it's it it's not a number that split so it stands for justice and mercy both at the same time so that's a whole mess right it stands for mark morality it stands for leadership and so the numbers three at is wanted it as biblical numerology goes that's why you see it a lot right Jesus was thirty three of me at the crucifixion it's why the ministry lasted three years it's why the holy Trinity is three M. three is a is a repeating number like three and seven and whenever you see multiples of any of those then it's it's a way of saying really really a lot a lot so this came up because there's a there's a particular death that happens in in the Bible where it says three thousand people were killed and it's not most people believe it's not intended to be an exact number it's intended whatever you see the word whenever you see a thousand just think unlocked and if you see three thousand it's really really a lot so it is that kind of multiplication so so that maybe is what in relating that to you and into your sister it's it's a tribute to her and to who she was and the fact that you keep seeing it as a means to keep seeing her and what she meant to you and what she meant to the people in your family life and the loss of her is a Klay does it mean you ever lost.

"Should look a lot like the way of plates that they're going to be replacing next year that's according to the division of motor vehicles they told state lawmakers on Thursday that's the plan Stan after years of delaying the switch to new plates yeah I met borders my little ready the General Assembly in June ordered a new plate design that all current we've played holders will need to get starting next June whenever the current plates expire gonna get phased in here states license plate vendors three M. and they're slated to deliver new license plate concepts to the DMV on Friday I thought they made the license plates of the AC according to but Craddock who represents the DMV spokesperson said the concept for the new license plate design will maintain the integrity of the current wave design with enough differing characteristics to accomplish the purpose of the license plate re issue all right new place you're gonna cost eight boxes set they lowered the price by the way three AM is going to make the new plates and work with the DMV to re issue them over the two year period until all there it is until the department of corrections obtains the necessary equipment to make them that's what the letter said stable amend three Ms existing contract and not go out to bid for the work all outrageous coming he didn't send that bit out ten for company for competitive bidding come on what islands they debut with the current way plates in the nineteen nineties different administrations have worked on plans for new design several times but everything got to abandon because of the cost for years of inconvenience sing drivers and the price is going to be double I think out of the gate but now the new place I said cost about eight Bucks a set how do they keep swimmers boaters and what have you say for all the shark sightings well that's a subject this report from RJ Heim remember that sand tiger shark encounter off moonstone beach the other week and then that fin sticking up out of the water off the squad to get initially believed to be a shark instances like these have local beach goers on edge we saw the footage I was on a channel ten which is doing this on first thing and so we're able to kind of correct that because great white sharks that feed off the growing federally protected seal population out towards Cape Cod where they've been attacks on humans Massachusetts and federal agencies have ramped up monitoring programs and safety protocols over the years to deal with the problem out on the Cape is a little bit more robust with spotter flights and and things like that now Rhode Island is getting into the monitoring game justice here bird island D. E. "With the bull pen and of mass has it going why would you do the braces safely take him out obviously they were having trouble with them why would you condemn the favorite taken out I mean how much how much trouble were they were they really having when you look at the sixth inning and the fact that you had a bunch of balls hit hard any at the three right he's coming up and Donaldson was leading off the inning and that's a guy who had been a thorn in the side I mean I just I think he was trying to get ahead of it with his best reliever and I don't disagree with that and the fact that Stephen match it was been you know at a roller coaster the entire year gave you what he did is great and any handed the ball with the lead to his best reliever in the seventh inning against three righties that's why I ball that's why I stand by it that's why I believe you did the right thing now I I if you want to tell me eleven start the inning and see how it goes yeah he gives up all Maroney gave then you know always Donner gives I owe all Walker single and then you bring in Lugo now to get out of a jam as opposed to star in the inning which you would prefer the other thing that we don't know either is what's going on in the dugout with the with the manager the coaches and you know they actually had a story and how to go out there and talk to him earlier in the game the kind of calm down so there's a lot of you know that there's a lot of things that go into these decisions and I knew coming in this morning this is going to be the number one debate topic because it's the typical post game you know it didn't go the way the manager wanted to go are expected it to go because his players did not I show up and do what they're supposed to do and that's including Alonso and including Frasier and including Conforto right now all three of those guys that was they were for twelve last night yeah in the in the Mets at opportune eighties an opportunity in the six they had an opportunity in the ninth I mean it just was they they couldn't break through could get the big hit like you saw in the in during the winning streak it it's not like Mickey Callaway went out and and had a familiar start that inning or a gives element or add feline org there whoever helots you know I mean he went and got his best reliever when they took the leaders guys yet right he's coming up any I'd guys that were on the money and quite frankly the fact that Seth Lugo walk Donaldson for the first leadoff walk in the year for him right it you know just goes to show you the pressure that good teams put on you right look at that and then how you react to that pressure is a real question as to whether or not you're good enough to beat that team an obvious our last two nights was not the case are David living so what's happening Dave Hey how you guys doing I mean I agree with that last call that I can't believe you guys are defending this move I mean if you get poor picture what events every not get used to it retired the last fourteen batters and it is bad the last inning I mean what do you have in a way that the the guy and you get Annie to pitch a complete game shutout of you start to go yeah I mean he was trying to get it I mean again they just were saying the same stuff wasn't wasn't is also a guy that they put in the the bull pen a few weeks ago right exactly because he was their worst picture I mean I was is a guy that we were talking about yesterday about worry about his mental stability on the mound when things get bad yes it was a Ronnie and Gary apple talking about that last night I guess it was the guy got out of the bull pen one of the best relievers in baseball over this last month or so yeah that too so I mean I any when he hit the situation was different than when he was taken out of the game they had the lead they had the lead and he went to his best reliever with the lead in the seventh inning with three righties after ending where he got hit hard and I understand got three outs but I mean he was trying to get ahead of it Lugo was terrible and there's never has been a point I don't know how long that you feel bad about Sepp Lugo coming out of the bullpen so don't even give me that anyone that open door opens you see except lugar like aren't good just didn't have it didn't happen last night win tonight and take on the Royals are beating up on bad teams again and we forget about all this the three M. three foreign to when you come back home all is good in the world all rights time for yesterday's Altes winning connection Powell and you notice answers to the bait we stand ready major indices major indices you're listening the nasdaq a break above eighty one seventy six be very very good eight I would suggest you a pretty darn good looking pattern going on the Dow same the S. and P. is already edged above range but just by a little bit.

"So I wanna thank you and your network for doing that that's fantastic. And I I feel guilty credit for it. But I'm glad that our company. Part of that. Because it's a great in fact as soldier I got benefit from that fund at one point. So it's a fantastic event. Fantastic organizations. Thank you for making that happen with that. As a soldier benefited from a grant, how important is it than when you're deployed, and you're in need and something happens that the MFS steps up pays that. Grant solves the problem. He can keep an eye on the mission is tremendous. Because that's the thing is that when you're deployed, you're focused on that mission in the second that something happens, your family, it really messes with with where you're at you because families everything and you want to make sure your family's taken care of it. So when the of can step in and cut through all of any that bureaucracy and solve that problem. It gives you such a tremendous sense of relief. So I can't say enough good things about what that organization does focus on the mission and get home safe. Exactly. Which is the big idea. Thank you for taking time out of your schedule.
