Jetpack over LA: Fact or Fiction?
"Saw reference to this on twitter yesterday too. And so people I don't know what we're David. You know we're talking about here. Breath. So there are reports from airline pilots apparently, there are reports line pilots are saying this. I don't know if I've actually heard an airline airline pilot reporting but that that while on on the approach to lax, I think yesterday. They saw quote unquote a guy in a jet pack at altitude. And it's like. It's twenty twenty innings possible. I mean just right but. What have you heard anything that makes you think this could be real. It's twenty twenty anything anything can happen. Ain't that the truth well back that they seem to have gotten. Audio from. The aircraft in. The Tower. Off. Of a presumed Pasco site. that. Would lend a little credence to the to the story. If you know from a live ATC. I didn't bother to click on the links here to to you know I'm just doing the local TV stations. This is from. The war zone actually from the drive DOT COM, they're they're section called the warzone airline pilots landing at LAX report quote a guy in a jet pack unquote flying alongside them It's like, okay This was some guy in a Moonie. Okay. Yeah. Maybe not but according to this news report there's three different airliners. We just passed a guy. No jetpack. And this was. According to according to the tower tower transmission made on the frequency. To jet, blue twenty-three use caution a person in jetpack reported three hundred yards south of the La final at about three thousand feet ten mile final. That's a little segment audio. Save so suddenly. That's so now is this a do we? I don't know what kind of jetpack. Yeah. That's my question is it a? Is it a sort of a James Bond type of jet pack or is it these more recent guys who were jet? Wing? And fought. Because that's the pictures that they've. Looked down lower in the story as an example, they're not saying this is the incident. But there showing other showing. Images, they have of. Of this is the jet man the. Jet called free also but yeah. Rossi's jet man that's that's yeah. emerets did a thing a stunt I don't WANNA call. It was a promotion. That's true. Three four years ago. Where they had this guy, the jet man fly in formation with I. Don't know if it was a three eighty or trip seven but. The image. Here is a four engine I'd say it's a three eighty. Three. Right. He's He's got about half flaps. Put Slow flight in your book right over the top of Dubai and with two of these these jetpack guys. It's hard to tell from the image. But. It looks like they're a good five well, good couple of hundred feet. Above to the left of this three eighty. Is the Radio Tower American nine, hundred and ninety seven. We just passed a guy in a jet pack and our says, American. Nine, hundred seven. Okay. Thank you. Okay well, this is like off to talk to one seventy, two Andrew. This is he he flies overhead lax more or less daily going to and from work. And I'll have to see what he knows about this sky with must have been. Like A shorts three, sixty or something he's like because he says, we just saw the guy passing bias in the jetpack. So I don't know if he could be going the other way but. The JAMPAKHAO, ran this guy whistling. That's embarrassing. Yeah. That's I mean it's gotTa. Be a turtle prop. No RJ captain in there and self respecting RJ captain would fly that slump. Well he's on he's on vinyl. Still doing. You Know Buck Forty Bucks Sixty. Okay well. But I'm sure jetpack guys go faster than one, hundred and forty. Meter not at least. Once. All right well. You know we're we're obviously interested in more evidence. Yes. Yes. We want to hear more accounts of this and I will check in with one seventy two drew just because he's plugged into that community in Long Beach a lot. So where the he may have some some behind the scenes information about what happened over the. Thing that jumps out at me here. Is that. If he's on final. For La. At three thousand feet and ten miles out. It has to be something like Rossi's jetpack because none of the other stuff go ten miles. Right, I wouldn't think that the James Bond if there is even a flying James Bond jetpack these days I, don't know and that was the only good for. Thirty seconds. And that's when I first heard and the first the first report of this I saw on twitter was accompanied by a picture of that jet pack in the Air Right and I thought I sort of thought it was an actual picture which I don't think you now in retrospect that it was but. anyways. So all right. Well I don't know whether we'll learn more about this or not. But when I first heard about this, if saw this whatever was I, thought it was one of those. Fan like a fan driven. Jet. Packs Ah. Some some people have taken to putting just like you do a drone use a lot of motors. They, they've created some some contraptions that that have motors and turn small productive propellers basically -ducted fans. And get off the ground and get off. But basically, it's like a helicopter. So it's Ok off the ground but I don't think they have the altitude duration or speed to do this well. We know that they did it very long. So it did it. They did it for three or four minutes? Three or four different arrivals. So yeah. Yeah. Three or four three different arrivals and figure they're spaced about a minute apart Hey. Okay.

To three hundred plus yards, three touchdowns, he did have a fumble on a sack that ended up being grabbed at the one yard line by the browns defense however. Of all the issues that you can point to of Cincinnati Bengals, job Way, down the line of the issues. For this team. And when you look at rainy bullock missing that field goal, you pan over to joe boroughs face on the sideline. When you look at tonight Joe Borough throwing what I say sixty plus fast sixty one passes. Three hundred yards, three touchdowns, and still driving scoring touchdowns at the end of the game. It's not it. You gotTa Kinda wonder. At some point when does the rest of the team show show up in catch up to Joe Borough when does he grabbed team by the haunches and make sure that other players are showing off and playing? FBI investigating report of 'guy in jetpack' flying 3,000 feet in air at LAX: 'Only in Los Angeles'
"The Air Bird plane. No none of those things true story here at LAX airline pilots reported seeing something very, very strange in the sky way you hear the back and forth here here it is. Here's a reporter Alex. Christine FAA confirms to me that separate flight crews report what quote appeared to be a man in a jet pack as a prepared to land at lax the pilot sounded quite certain can hear for yourself. Is Three, thousand feet, three thousand feet, and it looked out the side of the airplane and there's a dude in a jet pack just three football fields away from them. Fact check: Did coronavirus originate in a Chinese laboratory
"More western governments now agreed the virus likely came from a Chinese laboratory not from exotic food markets I don't know if this is good news or bad news I mean it's good news that people are needing that soup but it's but it's bad news that it came from a laboratory we can add now Great Britain to the growing list of governments who are confirming that sars coded to virus likely came from the Chinese Communist Party backed viral research lab the US UK Israel Canada Australia Taiwan and Germany have all reached similar conclusions the virus behind Gobert nineteen was most likely laboratory grown that's farther than we went last night on our special last night we did a great special on the Chinese Communist Party and how it's just killing the world I wanted to play a little piece of from that special where we we went over the evidence that it was actually N. confirmed by the Chinese Communist Party before the outbreak that they were doing experiments with these particular bats very close to where they said the bat soup was watch in February two researchers from the South China university of technology published a paper that was immediately taken down she I wonder why take a look at their credentials their resume looks pretty darn impressive joint international research the research laboratory South China university of technology has long university of science and technology Wuhan university of science and technology I mean they're not slouches they're not exactly a couple of internet bloggers in their mommy's basement well maybe they didn't have a big name supporter maybe they just went rogue but it says here they actually had the support of the national natural science foundation of China okay so why did this get pulled a cheesy their scientific data went to counter the propaganda it was a question the Communist Party didn't want to be asked their report detailed that not one single horseshoe bat was sold at the Wuhan animal market let me quote according to municipal reports and the testimonies of thirty one residents and twenty eight visitors the bathroom was never a food source in the city and no back was traded in the market in fact the bats responsible for caring the corona virus come from an area over five hundred and fifty miles away from the animal market so if the pattern from that area and there weren't any of them being sold in the market where did the outbreak come from because the data which now comes from multiple sources is in supporting the Wuhan animal market the two researchers screen to the area and they found two locations near the market where both were known to be studying corona virus one of them is only three hundred yards away from the market that's the length of three football fields that sounds like a good possibility what's the location the one center for disease control and prevention the same exact place the researcher was gathering up horseshoe bats in the video that's where they work now at this point it seems pretty obvious but the researchers sum up their conclusions here quote in summary someone was entangled with the evolution of the twenty nineteen cope with the corona virus and in addition to origins of natural recombination and intermediate host the killer corona probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan end quote what's amazing about this is we showed you the video last night from the Chinese Communist Party where they have the researchers going out and collecting these bats and saying Hey we got to be really careful don't get it on your skin or anything because these are this is highly contagious it's very very dangerous they were saying that and it was broadcast on the Chinese television by the official state television R. E. N. I think was in November or early December and those are the people that work in those caves taking those bats saying how dangerous it was they work and brought all of that stuff back to Wuhan then there's the breakout fascinating it's seems pretty hard to refute but right now the Chinese are saying that it was an American military that brought it over to Wuhan and they have proof because the so called Wuhan virus was over in South Carolina last summer and the United States government brought it over to China doesn't sound like we're headed for any place nice but we could have seen this coming back years ago on this program we talked about epidemics what year was this from students two thousand eighteen may two thousand eighteen okay and it's rand Wilson his book was epidemic we talked to him just to add nothing it wasn't like a big thing breaking out at the moment there was little talk about the we were right just after the Ebola thing that could be another one of being a bowl of patients that came in we were in United States even here in Dallas for were broadcasting and we we brought him on to kind of talk about what what the next threats could be listen to this clip with the with today's context so this is a P. P. bowl you know I think we're we're sitting here and there's really kind of two schools are two camps one that roll their eyes and like okay well it is everybody always panics and it'll it's always fine and the other side that is like we're right for a pandemic we're all gonna die we heard where it is where are we which side is is more accurate well I think the we're right for a pandemic is probably correct although I don't I don't think we're all going to die there but there are definitely reasons to be concerned about the state of the global public health system it is not adequately prepared to deal with a pandemic whether it's something that comes out of you know the Congo River basin like a bola or whether it comes out of a you know a bird market in China like like and a new flu or something like that in like a bird market in China it could be anything new flow something like that all okay yeah all right really bizarre to listen back to that he also went on to talk about one of the things that was that worked really well during the Ebola situation was it by you know if the wells in a bowl a situation to break out R. K. can work out is that it did get X. expanded in areas where we were well received Americans could go in and help right and try to fight in him listen to this clip about that situation the United States effectively created Liberia back in the eighteen hundreds as a a refuge for slaves and former slaves who were returned back to Africa and the the the big room with the big moment when three thousand American troops arrived you know the U. S. favorability rating library like ninety nine percent he was seen of this blessed moment when the the great savior in common and that really was going to help turn the tide on this virus imagine what happens if this virus pops up in Pakistan or Indonesia or or China even place the know a place where the hundred and first airborne would have to fight its way in before it got to fight the virus I mean you can the context of you talking about this at the lab and how they hit all these results this is exactly what he was talking about right there was no way for anyone else to penetrate that society to find out what the hell was actually going on so the rest of the world became completely unprepared and did not deal with it and honestly like this you notice this the countries that didn't deal with it well like a South Korea for example Taiwan are the countries that trust China the least right they were CS that they doubted them so strongly so early that they knew this is going to have to be prepared went crazy at the very very beginning and they shut everything down and they were tested it initial everything down and some of these big caught it early enough to be able to do the whole test and track thing not all that could be done here of course but it's interesting to see that because it's exactly what he was talking about when the United States couldn't it's gonna be involved like we were in a place like Liberia we we this thing blow out of out of control really found we we thought we were involved because we had the WHL yep and we pay the W. H. O. far more than any other country for its you know for its salary and so we thought that we would be able to trust them a lot of them are Americans etcetera etcetera we couldn't trust them they were deeply embedded with the Chinese government and they were lying to us and lying to the rest of the
Is there a way to use facial recognition that isnt a dystopian nightmare?
"This week. We're talking with marketplace reporters about what tech topics. They're watching on their beats as we look ahead to twenty twenty one issue. We can expect to be in the news. A lot is facial recognition in two thousand nineteen San Francisco Band police and public agencies from using it over civil rights fears But it's become widespread in China where it's used for daily surveillance and to track and detain the minority Muslim population there known as the workers. Marketplace's marketplace's Scott. Tong was based in China for years. He's now in our Washington DC bureau. And he's been tracking facial recognition tech in China and here in the US. And I asked him if China I know represents a worst case example of how this can be misused. You know China can be a pretty opaque place but this is what we know about how this technology is being used in western China. The the province of Xinjiang were the most of the week. It's connected to a centralized database so it's used to trap people it's used as a digital dole tether so if you go say three hundred yards away from where you're going at the technology knows that this facial recognition technology knows that So it sure seems like this technology could be used in these camps right to make sure people don't go very far away from where they're supposed to be and that is you know as we said. That is the nightmare scenario. It's it's also a scenario that people a lot of people immediately go to San Francisco has already essentially said no way. Can you deploy this technology on the streets of an American city. But I mean clearly. There are uses for this. That don't involve US living in an Orwellian nightmare right. Like what are the most promising uses of the technology that don't involve a civil rights. Violation law enforcement says this can be used to find missing people missing children if you have them into database and people are walking in by it can find those people The police in the state of Maryland used this. There was a shooting at a newspaper. The Capital Gazette in Annapolis Maryland and the police use use the image from the security camera and compared it to millions and millions of photos of known offenders and then. FBI Database and the driver's license licensed database and they were able to identify the suspected shooter. There was a shooting at a mall in Nairobi several years ago attributed to this extremist group. And now this mall has this. This technology and proponents say that the incidence of crime have gone way down so yes public security and governments. I think are at the center of of this technology story but as proponents put it it surely can be used in a lot of ways that helps society to your knowledge. Is there regulation around the use use in the US other than San Francisco at a national level. I don't think there is because we do know that Microsoft and other companies have have come to Washington and

Lamar vs. Deshaun: Dual-Threat Duel
"Dummy Foxworth is a former. NFL Player in a writer. At the undefeated undefeated Dominique Texans at Ravens Shawn Watson versus Lamar Jackson. I M extremely pumped to watch this football game name I mean how could you not like their playoff implications about like the first round by then you have to. MVP caliber quarterbacks going face to face race is not even that they are officiant are exciting. Like Lamar Jackson is spending people out of their shoes back. And I got a touchtone school into Shawn Watson taken feet to the face and throwing touchdown passes swatted. Betty goes down. We stay so to speak. This might be the most exciting game of the year. Well let's back up. This is not the first time these two quarterbacks have played what happened during their last match up as they played against each the other twenty sixteen in college we have a QB dual death Valley Malabar Jackson sensation in the sport but Shawn Watson. Is this delete veteran. Lamar Jackson Accent was at Louisville. A Lot less talented Louisville going up against Clemson and it was everything that you wanted Jackson Jackson. What's the pocket staff? Lived up to the. Both of those guys had great games. I think Jackson had nearly the three hundred yards passing any at one. Hundred sixty yards rushing touchdowns rushing one passing. Scores Standing at Louisville is walk. You're right back in this game and Watson won the game with over three hundred yards passing and five touchdowns through the air. In Ninety one yards rushing fires back the open it was a great game was close. Lamar Jackson and his team came this short of the end zone Jackson. Listen it go back then in two thousand sixteen. What was the perception of both of these quarterbacks like I mean Lamar was Ryan? Pretty high ended up winning the heisman trophy. That year and does Shawn Watson didn't do too bad himself want a national championship that year. I think people were very very the high on both of them right. well as I mentioned Sean went out and won the title. That year seemed like a no brainer that he would be A starting caliber. NFL quarterback a sure thing and yet the draft comes around and he falls to number twelve. He was picked behind. Mitch Trubisky and Dan Patrick Mahomes what happened. I don't know it didn't make sense because he didn't just win the National Championship. He came from behind throwing the ball through the air. Picking apart art the Alabama defense which was loaded with NFL talent. It seemed like what more do you want and then the very next year. Lamar Jackson also faced faced skepticism. When it came to his prospects in the NFL there were some respected people at this network and elsewhere who thought that maybe his best chance at succeeding being in the NFL was to play receiver which just made absolutely no sense? heisman trophy quarterback who wasn't running the option in college. He was running a pro style offense essentially at least a passing place. Where pro style? Why anybody would think that he needed to switch? Physicians was dumbfounded. You and I washed him very closely closely. Dominique ahead of the draft. We actually wrote a piece together about what it would take for him to succeed in the NFL. What was your conclusion from doing that? We look more deeply into a player's background in on field performance than I had with any other player and I remember being surprised at how developed a pocket could passer he was because all his highlights highlights that resonating. Your mind are him running so you think well maybe. He's like a running quarterback but no the criticism about him was not at all about his ability to read defenses or run a pro style offense. The criticism about him was about his accuracy which is fair but he was much further along as far as being. NFL Pro Ready Ready quarterback than most guys will get kind of tagged with that dual threat right. I went to his day in Louisville for our peace to do some reporting what did strike me about being there was during his throwing drills seeing how bad his wide receiver rose war they were dropping passes right and left. Yeah and I would think that. Having living bad receivers frankly or just generally mediocre talent would bode well for him in the draft process. That people would recognize that he was that entire program. I am all the success that they had while he was there was because he was great. And it's interesting that you bring that up because somehow teams looked at him and didn't appreciate that and then they looked at Shawn Watson in maybe poverty why he slid was because they had so much talent at Clemson. So like People looked at Shawn Watson and they might have seen maybe a guy who was just orchestrating a bunch of great talent and not a great talent himself. I'm not sure how they could watch the film and come to that conclusion. At the time I remember being kind of confused by but I don't understand Dan. How else do you select him behind? Somebody like Mitchell trubisky. Dominic what do you remember from watching the two thousand eighteen draft Well first of all I remember I remember watching it in a dark room with you and Bristol doing some sort of live show. It was really fun. And I remember Lamar Jackson showing up in that beautiful green suit and and feeling optimistic about him landing on a team early because I frankly thought he was the best quarterback in that draft and then watching him slowly. Sit there and all the time passing by and I remember thinking that. There's no way that they're going to let this heisman trophy. Winning Uber towns at quarterback. Go into the second day but the ravens swooped in and grabbed him with thirty second. Pick in the two thousand eighteen. NFL draft the Baltimore. Ravens Select Lamar Jackson in Louisville Right. Meanwhile I'm sure that he was uncomfortable in that moment and he did not enjoy sitting there in the green room with the cameras. Keep checking on his side face but it worked out because I don't think that he would have the success as in many other teams. You use the word confused to describe your reactions to watching these quarterbacks drop in the draft but really I I think you have some thoughts as to why it happened now. Oh Yeah I wasn't confused. Shocked said that because I seem like the right to say hey. I'm black man. I'm very aware of the the unconscious. Or maybe sometimes conscious bias that that goes into the decision making that happens in football and sports beyond that it just as difficult when you assume that there's so much riding on making the right decision that people have a difficult time getting past whatever biases. They are to try to succeed. So I'm not surprised. I think those those players that are brought up earlier like the contrast I bear I think makes it more glaring than anything else is like when you look at Lamar Jackson Deshaun Watson. Why are you more prone to see someone like rg three your career path? That's not successful than you are to see a career path of a quarterback who did succeed. There's just kind of faulty narrative out there that I think a lot of people whether knowingly or not kind of ascribed to is that mobile or athletic dole thread are or frankly just black quarterbacks. Don't don't pan out when they get to the
You Never Know What's Waiting for You in the Woods
"Year old female and I live in Michigan. I was sixteen years sold when these events happen. I'm a huge athletic nerd and I go hiking every day in this lazy picked the wrong day to go one day day and I met an experienced something I will not want to experience again drove to the hiking trail go to just about every time I go hiking and this day I saw creepy guy look like he was about in his thirties but me being the stubborn upbringing hard headed as I was back then. I ignored my gut and went and started jogging on the trail. I took a short glance at him. mm-hmm started going onto the trail and I got about two hundred three hundred yards away from the entrance and took a short break until I heard a scream from what sounded like a man and look down the path which made my heart drop. I saw the guy running straight. Tord me as my journal and rushed. I started run as fast as they could. This guy was running so fast he was catching up to to me and I was really fast runner. This game ran like kid. Taken to shots of steroids has started crying. Panic took a sharp turn into the woods and started to run back to the parking lot area. I kept hearing his footsteps not too far behind me once again as captain running his footsteps started getting slower because I was getting closer and closer to the parking lot at least I made it to the parking lot and they cried tears of joy. They took out my cell phone. Call the cops not long. After they arrived arrived and searched and found the man he was almost thirty seven year old guy. They said they had found a butcher knife in one of his Co. pockets to this day I'm glad I did the. ROTC throughout high school or else he would have had the energy advantage against me the creepy medic homeless guy. What's not me ever again now? It's understandable to now wanna go for walks on trails because you never know what can be waiting for you in the woods.

Let's go glass half full what did you see this weekend that had you excited and brimming with optimism where do we start so much Scott the forty niners because I always leave things are more impressive when prior to the game it's not supposed to look that way so we a significant professional money come in on Carolina so it makes the win even more impressive to me personally because I just feel like they exceeded expectation and I managed and I think we both did here right to avoid this game now we dead value is certainly on Carolina like numbers wise right when you look at the number got six six and a half earlier in the week like Mason Rudolph was catching that same number in his first start ever on the road so value is I get it but I think we talked Thursday which is like a horrific matchup right Carolina doesn't have left tackle Bosa continues to like full-blown just eat out there I think he's got the highest pressure rate he's on pace to set the highest pressure rate for any rookie in NFL history right now kyle kind of talked about this the one above it average pass defense he played he struggled against earlier in the season which was Jacksonville the forty niners would obviously be even tougher than that he was the most inaccurate quarterback in terms of completion percentage expectation of sixteen percent below expectations the worst so far this week and we saw that at there wasn't very good can't stop the run we talked about that Cohen Short once he went out for the season and there was a big check mark there offensively from what I'm what I'm seeing from the forty niners is is Kyle Shanahan is just ahead of his time with what he's doing even though it's very basic right it's I think he's in this concerts jokingly kind of the real inventor of the exotic smashmouth right the ball is just like spread around there's all these interchangeable parts wide receivers are getting handoffs but like at its core it's very simple offense and I think the scary part here todd is like you look or seven and no right now in the NFC but they're without their left tackle there without the right tackle there without their versatile full-back call us check and I think I could wrong about this and it's probably not worth the money was paid but I feel like Jimmy G. has another gear that we haven't seen yet either which makes this forty-nine seem really scary well and I think some of that's got to be by design if you're Kyle Shanahan why reveal all your cards when you don't have to right now and then there's no doubt that Jimmy G. High profile passing attack is somewhere there I imagine as they can can you to build chemistry with Emmanuel Sanders able to get into the end zone and his forty niners debut it makes his team even scarier and I know pain we don't talk a lot about futures here because guys don't have access turn prices and you Never WanNa do hyperbole but right now when you look at the NFC or the forty niners the team to beat the more complete package outside of experience levels than the New Orleans saints tough to you obviously love with the saints are doing especially defensively that front seven has really taken another step I do feel like whoever gets home field advantage because the saints home field advantage so massive you'd give the you'd leaned that way with ever team had home field advantage certainly the games get a little bit tougher here in the next few weeks off for the forty niners so we'll see what they're made of but man ah X. still kind of leaned saints especially if they were the team that got home field advantage going to be interesting NFC playoff picture definitely a number of teams on their best day more than capable of putting up crooked numbers and more importantly getting stops on the defensive side but aside from the forty niners pain or are there any other teams and our individual performances that really stood out to you Daniel Jones right if you're a giants fan you have to pretty encouraged in whether you could've met seventeen or six I mean that's it's kind of a relevant at this point you know and I liked I saw accuracy wise again delivered a completion percentage five and a half percent greater than expectations four touchdowns no picks and I think that that last part there with the no picks is really impressive when you look at how aggressive he was six most aggressive quarterback in week eight so far obviously two games tonight but of all the quarterbacks that have played so far six most aggressive and the other thing is when you look at how he's doing it right now in general young quarterback he's been pressured a shit ton right forty six percent of its drawbacks pressured on the season most in the NFL among qualifying quarterbacks and he's this young young he hasn't flinched yet so I I really like I think you have to be happy for your giants fan of what the future could be with Daniel Jones so fantastic performance although in a loss did did get back door there so I know a lot of giants backers were happy that was the sharp side again closed five and a half some places so Daniel Jones got the pros money and look good again that he did one ill advised throw cost him dearly early in the game came back up the fumble yeah it was the fumble that probably could have gone I mean you it's a turnover no matter how you slice it but interception fumble just not sure he's doing it to throw but for anybody to watch that game was interesting there was a bad penalty at the tail end of the first half where the giants allegedly rough the ultimate leads the three for the lions and changed the dynamic a little bit in that context wonder if the giants would have actually had a chance to win that game outright if things had played differently but for alliance do nothing but bad luck I guess they wrote a break or two in that extra appointments made things a little wonky to some of the decision making it the nail to me how to chase a two and it's one of those things where you just start chasing points and you open that Pandora's box and if you don't convert things continue to create that downward spiral but a good performance from Daniel Jones you mentioned his second career game over three hundred yards four touchdowns then a nice job against a depleted lions secondary with the good I want to add one other into it of course it was in a losing effort Mike Evans yet again puts up Gargantuan numbers eleven catches hundred ninety eight yards and two touchdowns but one of those things that I'm not quite sure why the bucks don't look for Evans and crunch time when he was the stat stuffer all game long and the titans apparently had no answer in their secondary starting to get doubled a little bit dried movement of the slot to get them open and got doubled again so you know he had forty four percent of the buccaneers area are gesture die but obviously not enough however no you want to praise him and you probably didn't turn on the game quick enough but he did have the bad drop on the opening drive in the end zone the bucks were forced to settle for three instead of seven I did I did see that drop bring it up I do want to ask you about that when you throw through a little bit of congestion I know Matt Melons in your hands catch the ball all right so I wanted to find out so you your opinion is now well documented around Mike Evans if you're going to be elite God damn elite all right so that that's where I'm going with it was just really annoying game not going to complain right side wrong result and you go into halftime with the two hundred fifteen yards seventy one yard edge you trail that's a problem and then I thought we were gold right you fight your way back you blow you get up six late in the third quarter and then you know you hope officials can do their job good for Devon white by the way rookie did a fantastic job there sniff out fake laid to feel them out it was like a WWF and I believe they're wwe now but I'm old so wwf like a clothesline he just sent the snapper into orbit there in the all clearly comes out its return for a touchdown of course they blow their whistle so you can't you can't review it and it was a turnover on downs anyways because it was fourth down so said of a seven air when bucks up three with under Ford ago we were still down four in the problem is that you know you're not gonna your situation where it's four down territory or not kicking field goal to cover the spread for the good guys chase kicked to feel go forty eight yarder right through the UPRIGHTS two minutes to go get outta dodge with a one point loss single text bruce and eh lepers no team bet the board it's all about covering the number not winning games outraged good guy might have done it now if the good come the bad and this one is tough for me to kind of put down pain because I think they were very good for three quarters but it's the kind of game that you have to win on the road you're at the tail end of it's been a mammoth road trip the Oakland raiders finishing the game against Houston Texans were nearly two yards per play better as far as net is concerned and you look they did give up some penalty yards and everything else they had the football a lot less but they had an excellent chance to win the game on the road they outscored in the fourth quarter and to Shawn Watts and make some let real place to get the Texans the outright victory Deshaun Watson in Hopkins it's like the Russell Wilson Lockwood combination those two geysers like carrying goddamn franchise right now because Bill Brian is just continues to be a mess anyways I hate being singular play guy but you're one and you have a chance to kind of I don't WanNa say ice the game with your offense but certainly go up eight or if you decided to be a savage go for the to to put it up nine and there is a plan like second and six from the Houston twenty four in Gruden calls a run play and you'll lose a yard and now you're backed up to third wall and then you Veasley incomplete there and and you settle for a field goal only go for I love Josh Jacobs but the Texans Defense is superior against the run than it is pass in the Texans secondary isn't link absolute shambles with injuries right and they were down another starter who got injured in the game and as an offense you got tyrone Williams back and Jones who you trade four finally like kind of got into the fold now that he understands the offense after you were healthy as you've been at receiver like virtually all season attack the weakness man put it in the air instead then do that in that one specific drive could've put him up potentially two scores if they'd went for two and you rely on your defense against Watson and you got burn so to me there is some some mismanagement there was some playcalling late in that game as you kind of alluded to but they did blow sure well you mentioned mismanagement pain and it's funny you use such a word choice where do we want to go to Chicago bears and how they handled their performance against the chargers so I didn't watch the game because I couldn't dedicate enough time to it I'm GonNa go back and actually watch today it's one of those games that was really intriguing to me because guys that uh yeah I work with love the charger so much and they with the chargers plus four and a half and plus four I didn't see it so when there's games that's where my guys like adamant that this is the side and I don't see it myself on my I gotTa really pay close attention to this and because I have add I can't do that with like watching games so two one on and watch today but as I'm like tracking the play by play and now that I'm like looking at the data we just download it charges were not decide and we had this debate all week long and you may see something different but the charges were not decide but I'll let you share what you saw from the data I mean I'm just looking at just like two hundred and thirty one total yards of offense in the year two thousand nineteen on the road and you're only getting what would have been like three point two closing number I don it doesn't look like just by all the data that that was the right side
"three hundred yards" Discussed on WJR 760
"To Columbus. and we're breaking down this game is because they lose that loses today thirty four to ten they have the Ohio State Buckeyes now miss because they too will want to big ten play for into overall in Dalton we've been talking a little bit about this the big plays and of a lower key to Darryl stored Willis was trying to go through this as things happened as a recap for the game so well house they will miss because it opens up with the ball in the family get the ball back after stopping Ohio state defensively from the defense side. and for please consecutively with two turnovers offensively to start the ball game but the defense was able to hold on to just three points well in and that's what's really amazing is that you're right the second play of both of those drives ended up in a fumble so chemist you defense really had answered the bell early really being challenged but they did I mean only three points went up on the board but none the less you you have to applaud what the defense was able to do early on it just it's kind of a bummer just wasn't able to quite last and and as we know how state and wins at thirty four ten. yeah I mean it was it was a tough ball games early on he had you know they they held on to the three points and then later on Victor will have a six year passing feel on that on that will RPO on the sideline he was able to score going up in the nothing on the Spartans. yeah. that seem to be there but at that point you still part the Michigan state within within striking distance of exactly what they need to do they need to answer the ball Melvin and they had the big drive the seventy five yard touchdown drive capped off with a twenty five yard touchdown pass Dale Stewart no you're absolutely right in threading the ball and we saw a lot of good passes from Brian the working a lot of good accuracy unfortunately there was a lot of dropped passes there from Michigan State offense and none the less you talk about that but but Michigan state there a in the second half started often it really had a great drive to begin the third quarter just couldn't executed at the end right now we're going to hear from coach their toenails with will be. well thank you very much Jason and it marked a kind of a tough day I decide where I ask you your your feelings about this one. well you know look at the statistics you know I mean we we hung in there in the first quarter of I think was three nothing maybe. and with a lot of energy and a lot of excitement on defense and turn the ball over twice on offense but hero. but you know you gotta be you can't do that basically settled that that allows the three they do miss one field goal book we look at things testicular if you have three hundred yards rushing and we get about seventy you know that things are gonna happen so you get a look at that statistic and and ask yourself of about it and then they threw for two eighteen we threw for two oh six I guess that we and in retrospect that we hung in the game the first half of the last two series of the first half were the most serious. of consequences I guess you know because a they had a long pass. of they read a little bit different that we had practiced of I don't know if we get the ball out of we don't it looks like maybe we do but they review it and then they they drive down to keep the vehicle so instead of being seventy to tenet half its twenty seven to ten she'll get the ball back we drive back down the field and Kimber really what happened but something did if that makes any sense market is seems like one of those games where a lot of things could happen but then there is that something that happens yeah you know feels is an outstanding quarterback. you know he a. he created out there you know with with and he couldn't find guys initially and he'd sneak out of there you know you go to his writer to his left and you know make a make five yards the throw pass you know find somebody so you make too many times that he created where we had a they would wait the animated live it ten times yeah where he created something out of nothing in a way you're quarterbacks doing that you know. you guys still the fed and you've got a you've got a half your share of your share of bad plays sax interceptions throws one interception we end up I think it's a big. I think the turnover margin three one I believe you can't win a game minus two you just can't. get off of the leave there what were plus two or forty wanted to. in our history so credit Ohio state is a set of stairs press conferences that to our football team there are some things we did well. there's some things that they did well there's some things that we could have done better. and though you know we gave the ball couple times. early in the game you know we get down there and of we don't score touchdown were inside the tent or whatever we were yeah we need to come up with what I thought that you know cut it to two possessions. is it worth three worth that twenty seven dentistry positions of CO two positions. of in but we don't I think they go down the field score it ended. you hello Ohio state only seven points in the entire second half yeah leading this leading bill will be quite honest with you that's that's all good and we can build on that but when you look at it we never stopped them dead in their tracks. you know they would extend the extent that you know they would move down the field of that we stop. so well that's good you know you're not given any you know like I said it is too many big plays in a week that I believe in the second half of doublets breaks of breaks a run and no we've got to us in the third quarter I believe maybe I don't know. but you know we got it we we got a hook. and then swappable we can't his trance what the ball out we got to make this secure the tackle so we go for punch the ball. and you know we missed the ball he could run for touchdown. hello so that that can't happen so there are things like that that we can control we walked him down that we could we could make the tackle hopefully keep to a field goal mark nextel tired as well I thought yeah answer to some of the guys after a long time next up above I guess before I ask about the badgers what do you take from this kind of game. well I think this is anything that you you do it's it's a it's got to be a learning experience for you he come down here playing for a hundred thousand people of. you know you get yourself ready go you're hanging in the game things don't go quite as well as you want to go but you gotta grow from this experience in of said so many times it in on a set of stairs of a city here not yet but you know you are defined by what you do next so when we lined up next week. we will have to grow from this game will have to again establish herself once again this is the way it is this way it is anytime you go through something this disappointed today suppose some type of growth at the end and then you need to be resilient bounce back that's the only way that we've ever tried to do it here that's what will always do it not to play the blame game or anything like that you know we we got out coached we got up late there was some good things we did on both ends of the stick with those things but not enough to win a football game and the the the bottom line at the end of the days do we with. so of will unable to come away with a win and here we lost this game seventeen to sixteen before you know is still a loss. a still counts as one. so were foreign to coaches be the four three next week five into so the way you race this feeling this make it right to play the next game that's a great mind you defined by what you do next the threesome well mark I sure appreciate it and low for better thank you next week yep. we all right go green okay thanks mark. okay so records mark then Tony I will to even. we all color copy Saturday October twenty six off the top that off the hook three Sean was really funny if..
Giants Name Daniel Jones the Starter, Sending Eli Manning to the Bench
"Re hitting the top story of the day Daniel Jones going to start this week for the New York giants against the Tampa Bay buccaneers Eli Manning officially benched looks like his career with China's over as the starting quarterback well again and we'll see what Daniel Jones happened. I mean he could get blown up and then he lies back in there. Yes that's true I I mean but we haven't heard from Pat Shurmur and we will tomorrow and and what we will hear as I'm sure he's the quarterback and we're moving forward with him and Eli will do his best to mentor him in any. I don't think Eli wants to be traded on like he wants to go anywhere. People are wondering if he is traded spot track tweeted out while unlikely if the giants do trade Eli Manning. He'll cost his new team six hundred seventy six thousand dollars as per week ten point one million dollars to the rest of the season. The giants have already paid him six point eight million the jets are going to get Sam darnold back before or the midseason point okay. The Jaguars are going to get nick foles back around the midseason point. Drew brees is coming back around the midseason point. The steelers are not getting big ben back but it makes sense for them to see who they have in Wehr young guy a guy that Ben didn't want to mentor cantor when he was drafted last year he was definitely rankled by the drafting of Mason Rudolph the of that. I don't believe there's any doubt and he didn't say a mentor him like Rudolph said it's not Ben's Job to mentor me and he used that on his radio show which has since since been shuttered that just to put it all out there that I'll just point to the book and just say you know that's yours since he doesn't want me to mentor him even thought it was funny and and it landed with a thud but they have to see what they have in Mason Rudolph and at Mason Rudolph. Let's say performs like Dak where it's amazing and he's terrific traffic and the team makes the playoffs and gets a playoff start then. We're going to have an interesting thing on her hands right here. Ben will come back and come back saying I am ready to show up and it'll be like far like when Aaron Rodgers got there like oh I don't plan will be ready to garage. Come back in shape. He'll probably say ten fifteen rounds and it'll be ready to go and put the steelers and a tough bind but that is a high class problem and the steelers are going to find out if that's a high class problem that they can have because at some point Ben will be done and Mason Rudolph. We'll be sitting there and for Mason Rudolph he'll be able to just basically say to them because they don't have a fifth year option on him because he wasn't a first round draft pick nick franchise tag me Pittsburgh or trade me and someone also pay me like Jimmy Garoppolo. This is a big opportunity for him and whose his first quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo so we lies not going anywhere no one's going to be wanting to hire Eli manning and the giants the best backup quarterback and perfect mentor for for Daniel Jones perfect. Why would they trade him? who had taken are just told every? I just gave you the possibilities. Nobody needs him but you're you're. You're not like it's not like there's a Minnesota Vikings situation where they had to pull the trigger for Sam Bradford because they had a super bowl ready team that went poof because teddy bridgewater blew his knee up but if you take away his name. Ui Manning and you look on paper you're trying to acquire a guy is three and nineteen eighteen again his last starts and seven years old and I'll say this again do we have shown O'Hara's tweet and obviously he's biased. He won a super bowl with Eli. Put it up Shara so incredibly disappointed and frustrated with the giants right now. Defense gives up sixty three points in two games wide receiver group is depleted but let's change your. QB question marks Kurt said the same thing he sees the film you lie is not making poor decisions. He's making the right decisions. The only decisions decisions he has in front of him and he's being held to account now you can say that it's been a long time coming but it's not the only answer and Daniel Daniel Jones and again credit gettleman. He's putting it out there right now he could have sat there and say I take the rest of the year because the ownership is ready for you. Take the rest of the year and then I'll get more. I'll get more top five picks for Daniel Jones but he didn't do it. What if Daniel Jones comes out as three hundred yards and beats the bucks this week while then we're we're not talking about any more we
Heisman Watch: There's no stopping Jalen and Tua
"So former teammates to a tunnel by Lola and Jalen hurts continued to go toe-to-toe each week as the race for the heisman heats up last weekend to through for nearly four hundred fifty yards and five touchdowns against South Carolina meanwhile Jalen Pass for just just under three hundred yards and three touchdowns along with one hundred and fifty yards and another touchdown on the ground according to Fox too is now just a slight favourite win the heisman over the QB he replaced in Tuscaloosa joined by Fox College football analysts Reggie Bush good to have you so regret giving up on Jalen no not at all regret giving up on Jalen life is good in in Alabama real mess team and caused football really you got the best quarterback in college football guaranteed to make the playoffs even with one loss and I think even L. Obama lost two games they still figure out a way to get him in the playoffs and when to a- leaves they just going to replace him with another five star quarterback so life was good in Alabama. I don't think Nick Sabin has any reason to even worry about. Losing Jalen hurts because his quarterback has right now beat out jalen hurts for that starting starting spot and so to me when I look at the big picture because I do think Jalen hurts has the best shot out of the two to win the heisman trophy because he played the situation perfectly. He went from having to face. SEC every week to facing big twelve defenses every week which everybody knows they don't really play a lot of defense in the big twelve and so so when I look at the big picture he's going to continue to put up these kinds of numbers every week because there's not a single defense on that roster on schedule that can stop them It looks like a heisman winner to me. I thought it'd be well. No twelve zero peaks really has yet to really dupleix insignificant time in the fourth quarter. No he will regret his skip. Jalen hurts got beat up but let me tell you how much coal saving love. Jalen hurts cold all saber replace. Jalen hurts in the National Championship game against Georgia to Accom- back lease them to a victory coach. David Love Jalen hurts so much that then he puts the job up into sprees. Whoever wins it in the spring? That'll be my starting quarterback. He'd beat up to t t t t feed him out again. Okay so what I said. You know what this is my last year. I want to go play Kevin. I can't beat him about. He just beat me out last spring. I'm not going to beat him about this free so what was supposed to do he goes. He goes to Oklahoma wishing well. It's the same thing can can album commit coach saving et. Cetera compare what was going to be that Derrick Henry couldn't be that yielding couldn't beat. Andrei saw his playing time with limited he against the running back. We're talking about quarterback a a much more important. My point is if you can't be the guy out and you don't want to sit the bench. Let me go somewhere where I can play. He went to Oklahoma. WE'VE Cup Calum Murray Lift weight you skip to step who took over in one. Sec Championship game and Got Alabama to the playoffs last year. Oh okay great stay co-ceo. I'll stay if you put the job up in the spring again. Now exactly is coast was he's headed to a better
Florida Gators celebrate 24-20 win over Miami Hurricanes
"Speaking college football last night. I predicted twenty six twenty you f- it was twenty four yeah. He's pretty good twenty eight twenty. It was a sloppy hilarious game but it was good to have college football back and then took off for hawaii zone. It did you now. I'd worked to nutty game. Cole mcdonald shootout cold mcdonald who is a quarterback threw three touchdowns in three picks in the first half he then throws a four touchdown down unstuck in half and then two more picks. He gets pulled even though he had three hundred yards in like five todd's the backup crumbs in lead them the two scoring drives hawaii can put the game away. They're down seven fifty seconds left from their own like fifteen. They drive all the way down to thirty ten seconds left. No timeouts cleo tate's scrambling housing. It's tackled it like the one and a half yard line and the time expires. It was like crazy. It's a hell of a game we start on
"three hundred yards" Discussed on Speak For Yourself with Cowherd & Whitlock
"And then they forced the hand of those remaining because the salary cap will be play because because we've signed so many guys we gave you your top five value contracts. You didn't wanna sign up now. We're signing. Everyone else. Who's coming up was left. We'll see how that plays. I don't know i don't know if that plays out because for me. I wouldn't go bottom up. I would go from the top of who whoever i'm going to pay the most amount of money the guy that i feel like i cannot do this without. I'm gonna pay him. I and i'm gonna work my way down to where if i get to the bottom and now the cap is really an issue and i don't have the money left then. It's not a person that i can't live without. We'll be a shrewd businessman. You got back for one more year. In the franchise tag. You got zeke for years on this man and i'm looking look into acts numbers what he got sixteen games under two hundred yards over the last three years. He only has four five six games most over three hundred yards. I could get a quarterback in the draft and have him for another two three years and had tell him handball off the zeke and we're gonna play accident and get down to feel the same same thing basically basically and john dorsey is going out there right now he just said in an athletic and turns the studying the quarterback position making a revolving door around rookie deals and then building the team around just cheap rookie quarterback's so it's a real play and if you're right. We're saying the same thing mega squeezed out of the situation. If you don't sign the deal that's on the tape. I would say the the tier three quarterback thing to me is like majority guys in my mind or tier three quarterbacks so why pay him thirty some odd million i mean the going rate is going great for the quarterback position. There's no he was the only tier three i think slot garoppolo what's he learned on twenty twenty seven and a half and and again it would take twenty seven and a half to have a demon just telling you most quarterbacks if you're not named brady and rogers and maybe breeze right mahomes. Most almost most quarterbacks have got to have players around them grew good players around them to be productive. That's that's i mean. This is the ultimate in complementary football's the ultimate compliment you like if you don't block. I don't care how good you receiver is. If you can't block guys up front you know what you receiver receiver doesn't make an impact. I mean yeah but i'm just saying oh. Mars got people get paid on potential and so they i think this guy can it'd be a guy that can carry a team. That's why kirk hey okay and it's a mistake but that potential thing is if you're gonna pay potential do it early. That's jalen island smith. Do it early so you get a good deal. The cowboys had him targeted. They knew that he was their quarterback. You should have done this last year. You should never get it to the point where you can see on the horizon..
NFL: Le'veon Bell plans to join Jets for 4 years, $52.5M
"There's former Steelers running back on bell. We learned late Tuesday night. When the news broke that he's planning to sign with the New York Jets deal is for four years, fifty two and a half million thirty five million guaranteed. According to a source. What's it all mean? ESPN analyst Damien Woody says, it means that bell gambled with his career. And he didn't beat the house. Well, listen, you know, the man held out for years. He lost. He lost a bedroom. There you gotta you gotta understand. He he walked waves mobile fourteen million dollars in the franchise peg last year picking that you know, what I'm going to preserve myself. And I'm gonna I'm gonna come out after the season and get even bigger deal and it comes out, but he got less than what the franchise tag or what the Steelers were often them. So from that aspect, he he lost on this one. I'm with you. And I mean Louis and our just joking. I mean, no one's gonna cry. The man, certainly he he's he's wealthy beyond reason. And yet I just wonder how how does that play? How does a guy who's been excellent one of the very best at his position. How does he process that when he bet big on himself you missed a year in your prime, you left fourteen on the table, and you're getting less than that on an average like how does that manifest itself in guys based on what you've seen through the years? What did you gotta be heard a little bit? Because you know, the way the way it looks like is like maybe his market wasn't as big or maybe that many teams were interested in signing on Bill big deal. So listen kudos to the jets have been able to get on to me the best all purpose back in the National Football League. At the price of the he'll be a tremendous asset for the New York Jets and Sam Donaldson Alford. So Bravo to them. Does it surprise you that that that that there were other teams willing to give it, and we understand that running backs the depreciation, and we understand the wear and tear. That's all understood. But I'm just a little bit surprised that there was not someone else for Belen his agent to work off of in terms of negotiating were you surprised? Actually, I wasn't surprised you gotta look at a few factors one. This is a guy that could possibly, you know, one incident away from know from a long-term suspension. You got that in his background the fact that he sat out a year. So when you and the fact that he plays running back. So when you combine all those factors. I don't think there was a team out. "The crash occurred only three hundred yards short of the airstrip. Most of the survivors had been seated towards the back of the plane. The dead include the pilot, and the co-pilot lead singer, Ronnie van Zandt guitarist, Steve Gaines, his sister and backup singer Cassie Gaines and assistant road manager. Dan, Kilpatrick local farmers were the first to respond on that dark October night in Mississippi. They'll cover stop was hovering right straight back here from that three landed in the very back is a quarter of mile. It was a lot wetter. It was a lot wetter that night, and we had to cross a black order Slough. Didn't really know. What to do? I mean. Never seen anything like that. We got busy. We know that have a clue. Thus taking what what is a bunch of hippies doing on airplane likely can afford ticket. I expected to see all dead people looking. I was amazed that there were that many survivors a lot of folks was this a small accordion, mashed together and down in a couple of or somebody else down there. They were moaning and say like get me out of here. Like that. As I was walking out. Friend of mine from magnolia ran up to me and told me that the plane was Leonard scanners play. And that just I mean, I'll just. Was taken back by. But he immediately the insists, but don't worry. I think Leonard made it out and van Zandt. And you know, you already know all the details he died, but nobody that was live. When we got there. I was amazed. That were that many survivors. I believe. Hair? And that sound thing I can count for survivors included singer, Leslie Hawkins bass guitarist Leon Wilkerson guitarist. Andy Collins and guitarist Gary Rawson at the time of the crash. It was the only people who died were right up front. And it was it was Dane, and may and Ronnie I was in between Ronnie, Dane and the other side with Steve and Cassie and Allen was in between them and men our between all four people that died. So we always. Extra heavy to us that we were right there, and we didn't die and they did. But you know, that's just spate and guest. Scarsella had all my bone. Not all of them. But just about all, bro. Both both legs in both wrists in both arms, upper arms and.
Who's in and who's out: Bills' coach Sean McDermott on team injuries
"Indiscipline with our track. And then there's times where receivers have to do a better job in blocking. So it's never just one one guy or one unit, but it all the run game always starts up front. Last night just on how big your your concerns in regards to Josh. Wanting expose running so much in having himself exposed to nastiest. Yeah. I mean, you know, I've mentioned this before you guys have asked that before I think it's probably honestly going to be an ongoing conversation. I'm Josh is a mobile quarterback mobile quarterbacks. There's a conversation about every week. They running too much are they're not running enough. What happened to the quarterback run? You know? So at the end of the day, we've got to keep Josh upright. He took some hits yesterday. That he can't take. And we've got to make sure we do a good job of protecting him. And then Josh has to help himself out at times with being smart with the football and the alarm clock in his mind has to go off as well. And and getting rid of the ball and and living to play another down. Yeah. You know, it's it's not at times. It's not ideal j other times where I like seeing what seeing what I've seen in terms of his mobility and ability to create off schedule plays that said the trust between him and the offensive line has to be there. So that he can go through his progression. And keep his eyes downfield and industry with the football. You know, it's it's a shame that he took the hit that he did. Thought that should have been called. But they didn't see it, obviously. And. But that said I thought, you know, he came out in the second half had a couple of good warm-ups and felt good about it. In the second half there. So those sorta day we'll see how he comes comes back tomorrow. There's no place in football for it. And it's like a quarterback, you know, he gets hit in the back any player for that. Now that gets hit in the back should be a foul. And then he's he's a kicker. That to me is afforded the protection. Yeah. He did a good job. I mean, I think it's what about his third hundred yard game this season for an undrafted free agent. I think he's done a nice job and credit to him and the way he's developed and he's developed a nice report. Josh. He's starting to really round out his his approach to the game in terms of his preparation and his approach in terms of his routes and his detail on us routes, which that'll continue to develop Sean gets hurt during the game or something. Acting up on. Yeah. As far as I know it was early in the game there a couple of plays into the game. And he tweaked it. Louis view. Thank you. You know, he went he was evaluated this morning and was putting in the protocol. So he was evaluated evaluated. You're right j yesterday during the game it was allowed to go back in and then reevaluated evaluated this morning and put in the protocol. Josh was evaluated. Was that an an thing? I just soreness overall soreness. Continues to keep approves every week. All running everything. You know, you just watch watch a young guy develop. And that's part of the joy of coaching is to see a young man come in. And to be honest with you, not really get it early on in terms of. Hey, this is the NFL. It's not college anymore. Not on scholarship and. He went to he traveled in a short short amount of time the hard path of getting released we got him back as you know. And then he really he really. I guess woke up and started to do things right and prepare the right way. And know that hey, this is you got to perform and spent spent time with Josh and getting on the same page with Josh. And how important that is? So it's a young man that's off to a good start with a lot of room to grow. Yesterday. Yeah. And you're right. Joe? It's you know, it's it's hard to win games. When you play that way. Field position wise. Let's just go there with with special teams, but we've got to come out and establish a tone. On special teams, and that starts with our coverage units kickoff coverage in particular. And and sometimes it just comes down to guys flying around. And and. On a part of something bigger than than what they're you know, what I mean just just buying into something and going down there and buckling it up and going hitting someone. And so that's that's something. We've we've got to get done. Really, it's it's a little bit of a little bit of everything. It's never just one thing. And we've got some players plan their that. Maybe haven't played there before. And we've got some guys that have played there that that I expect to do a better job. Good. Thank you. Good. That's it Sean McDermott today. Matt Milano has a broken leg that was tough to watch. Yeah. It's always tough to hear about he's. It's going to be the prognosis is good. I mean, you should be back for off-season stuff. And it's good. I think he's he's sort of worked his way into how many good players do. I have on that side of the ball. Like he's in the he's in the group with with Tremaine Edmonds to me now. Like, he he's I think he's a nice player Milano. Seems fast enough to get down the field when he has to instinctual seems like around the ball. I like him a lot you ever break your leg. Do no dislocated dislocated the kneecap twice heard about that. Those are my knee injuries leg injuries. Those are the only your son brokers badly sprained ankle, my my son owned the hockey player. Bad like, great like Salter, Harris, tibia fibula. It was like there was a chance if things didn't heal properly for screws and plates, but he avoided all that because he took care of it while it was damaged. So what does that mean taking care of? It seemed like he was her dri don't know. He was just the doctors said you need to be really careful while you're in the cast because if this doesn't heal properly your we're gonna need to go in there and do surgery and put screws and plates in to make sure the growth plate is proper. And he he was very cautious. You just did not take any chances while that thing was. We had the potential to get worse. So good for him. He has like ten or eleven at the time. That's right. Eleven twelve. Maybe maybe eleven letter. I might have been right timelines all over the place. I think that that might be right. He was definitely wasn't a goal yet. He was a skater. So that might be a good guess the closest I've ever come to a broken leg myself is my co workers, son. That's the closest connection to a broken leg. Then I know of. Tony is with us alot. Tony. Tony. My coworkers on okay? Just turned on the radio turn off the radio. Did you see the Dallas game? Oh that was my goal worker. Suddenly, I thought it was the guy very confused. There was you. What did you see the Dallas game? Yes. Well, yeah. I mean, I got home. I told my wife my wife got home after me. She came in the room after I did whatever, and it was maybe twenty three twenty three and she sat down, and I said I sat down here about fifteen minutes ago in this game was nine six. Yup. He was just it was insane. Well, I was really insane. Philly to me. I mean, they lost credit to them. Like they got off the mat after they had that touchdown called back on that garbage offensive pass interference call.
In the week-to-week NFL, it's all about survival
"From Minnesota. There was a chance that. Vikings might get the football back down eight but a stupid personal foul penalty on Harrison Smith only would have been second down. But I mean, he's he took a shot at Trubisky late. So you'll get a chance to see the bears on Thursday thanksgiving but Arne getting back to that. Cowboys win today over the falcons and now especially with the Redskins are a quarterback without. Oh my goodness. What a horrible horrible injury. That is. I mean the divisions there for the Cowboys for the taking. Yeah. Don't look now. But Dallas when we're talking about the NFC east is a game behind Washington there at five and five Washington is at six four listen, we'll we'll get to the eagles in the falcons. I know the falcons are in the east, but we'll get them coming up in just a bit. Hey loan. Behold. Arnie maybe the team that looked the best today in the NFC east. Your New York Giants any Eli manning three and seven only three games out of first place right now, but got saquon the boss oil, and that looked a little better about to welcome back them to the division. Title race. Don't take away from it. I will take it away from you yet. I'll let you I'll let you have it for a little bit. I mean, I still believe the raiders can finish eight now. So. Give me give me another week at least with the giants. So foreign six three and seven for the third and fourth place teams. But here's Dallas. Now just a game out in the fife and five and they get Washington on Thursday on a short week with the new quarterback. Washington's gotta go out and find a backup quarterback as well to beyond Colt McCoy. So I dunno Arnie. I almost feel like that. This is a team that for many weeks. We've tried to bury we've listened to the frustration from Bobo our technical director is a diehard Cowboys fan. So he's been frustrated. But now all the sudden with the Lincoln Riley rumors and the Jason Garrett gone the trade from white Cooper's working out now. And they're giving the ball to Ezekiel Elliott. And here we are spending. Most of our first seven minutes talking about Dallas and a resurgence. I got him. I'm as much as you say you call this. And I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm shocked by this over the last couple of weeks that we started with that is because if we started with this takeover. For the show, but I'm going to say it. Anyway, someone's looking for a quarterback what better place for a quarterback in the nation's capital? Then Colin Kaepernick, I mean, what a what a fit that would be all going the Washington playing in Washington. Can you imagine? I mean, a name need one pretty bad. All right. I got a double check who had tweeted that in. I someone was looking at the under over under eight minutes into the show. You would. How about that? I think that was I think that was the over under. I'll have to double check. Oh, yeah. Mike how many minutes into the show this Arnie talk about capper Nick going to Washington? Even though the last time he played Arne was dating supermodels beating Kerr one on one with a nice flowing ponytail. I say two minutes. So actually we hit the over there. I'm sorry. How could you not know? How is that? Not a perfect fit for everybody around for a team that needs an emergency quarterback. But see that could work against them. If they need emergency quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, I dunno. It may take him a while to to get up to speed. So they may have to go with somebody who's you know, a little bit more ready to play. And it's so crazy because you hear these same names rotated over and over Mark Sanchez already was the name that was brought up today. Someone that they might bring in for a workout. How about wait? What's Nathan Peterman? All right. Brought him to Indianapolis or someplace like I don't remember what they brought him into. Oh, man. So tough news today for the Redskins. Not only did they lose the game. But they lost their quarterback in a gruesome injury and shades of the Joe thighs men injury whenever we were kids. It was just good task. We'll get to that coming up in just a bit. But let's stick real quick with this cowboy falcons game from another perspective. What are the hell has happened to Atlanta? I mean, I understand injuries play a major part, right? I get it. You have what's he's had a couple of changes in the coaching staff not a lot. But this is just I mean, this was an offense that was deemed next level. It was it was cruising. And now. Thank you. Thank you. I didn't have to say it Bobo had it. But it was it was really bad really bad army. I don't know where it's going. I mean, look it's one thing to take a little bit of a dip. But what they're going through. It's just you know, it's head scratching their even with injuries. They still have a pretty good offense out there. They shouldn't be having a four six record. This is ridiculous. You shouldn't be losing to the Cowboys at home. You're much better team. Where's that offense? What's going on with Matt Ryan? I know you don't wanna point, you know, all the blame at your quarterback. But under three hundred yards. You know, you've got Julio Jones there, you still got him to go ahead and throw the ball to you got some new you've got weapons around you. What's going on out there? I got to start pointing the finger would Matt Ryan. And I thought a couple of weeks ago in part of this might have been because I opened my big dumb mouth Atlanta to go to the Super Bowl. I thought they'd won three straight. Why? Didn't think they had they had they had won three straight games after a really ugly loss to Pittsburgh. They beat the buccaneers. They slid by the giants and then they put a pretty good weapon on the Washington Redskins. But then they go to Cleveland, and they get beat last week. They lose the Cowboys today and Arnie their next three games are at New Orleans home for the suddenly I'll know I don't wanna get carried away on the Mark Jackson. We'll talk about that later. Suddenly resurgent ravens. And then they go to Green Bay those are three even on Green Bay's not playing its best football right now. But already they could be four and nine for sure gonna be foreign seven when they play the saints next week with the way that things, but what the hell is going on in Atlanta right now, it's a tough question to try to answer. And I wanna to say something also go up surprised that you did start with the Cowboys in Atlanta considering the biggest win today put somebody into the Super Bowl. And I thought that's where you were going to start you you really bury delete. I hate the skull. You on the air back and say you buried the lead because the Pittsburgh Steelers with their win today. Just put them in the Super Bowl. Meaning they'll beat the patriots at home, which means they'll get the number one seed, which means this year Velgo to the Super Bowl buried elite. Well, you know, it is kind of shaping up a little bit for maybe a Pittsburgh New Orleans slash Lossiemouth battle in the Super Bowl. I think we'll learn a lot tomorrow night. This is crazy because here we are Sunday night and a majority of the time the Monday night football game. Here's a conversation. We have as we're heading out the door in our final segment. Sunday, Monday night, football's usually, hey, don't forget tomorrow night. We'll see next week. But now with the Rams and the chiefs. I mean, I I don't know Arnie I- Kansas City quite a bit. But you're right. I mean, I know knock on Kansas City because I know as soon as I say anything about Kansas City. They start dogging on the raiders. Yes. The raiders stink. You're really good this year. How does that make you feel better? But you you can't help. And I know it's all difference because it Mahomes, did, you know, Patrick Mahomes likes catch up to not hear that at all on social media. Yes. I'm actually with you on this one. I now Arne because I love what Kansas City is doing. I'm enjoying watching them play. But you know, what they have sold a short in the playoffs before they have disappointed when we thought they were the team to beat. We have heard. Hey, things are different this year. You just wait till we get to the playoffs. Guess who's consistently been there and consistently got done the Rodney burger?

"And I want to talk to you about that because you wanted to tails for so long out, Texas, but man is much as you and I love to shoot down at the ranch. We always set up. We always download in at our hundred yard target rates. And that's typically what everybody sites, and then as, you know, something at one hundred yards that's the standard, and then you can go above and beyond that, but you want to zero at one hundred and then go from there, we always had plans we talked about it for ten years. We wanna make this long shooting range because you and I love to shoot. But when you NewSouth Texas anywhere, you need to you're going to shoot you need to be responsible and have a backstop while they're in. That's where the problem with doing it. The Brooklyn's go ranch aside from you know, we had the area. But it was just do we had too much. God damn. Work to do to just sit around and make a long wrist lung doesn't shooting range. So I went out to the desert first of all I went out shooting. This dude name is Jim or the former army ranger, and obviously like a trained sniper and all that stuff. So dude when when he speaks about guns. He makes it so simple because he's also an instructor. He was a wealth of information as to seven MAG and this year, I said, you know, what the optics are a little bit better on at three hundred win MAG. So I'm gonna take that gun. It's got that limp old Boone and Crockett scope that you and I are both familiar with. So I got the different graduations on it. And I went out to air side of that thing in and were shooting fine and dandy at three hundred yards. And I was like man, I think I'm going to get a shot, you know, that could be up at four four fifty range. And I said I would really like to know where I'm at on the scope because right now we've only used to of those radicals or two crossbars because that's all the rain. We've got three hundred. But so as an eight-man. He goes I got a place where we got still targets set up as about forty five minutes from here. If you want to go, we can go and get you dial in dude, I had a ship how stuff doing it? But I gotta know. Because do you know me, and you do do del just gotta have our shit side in so. Yeah, man, let's go. Do we get out there? He's got this little gimmick table. We sat down put a furniture, Pat overnight the table got rock-solid on a good sandbag. I bought on the back end Bama trigger. Dude. I was just so dialed in and I started off on a two hundred yard target went to the three hundred yard target. Those are my to go to on that I crawl share. Then I dropped it down across here. Started Nalen tenants plates at the four hundred yard, Mark. Then we moved up to five hundred I'm drilling NAT attendance plates, and then finally out to six hundred on the bottom of my scope Rodney at that Trident, which which is not even across hair just the beginning of the bottom of the scope. That's my six hundred yard. Penn. So I got me little dope sheet a math on west NAFTA pitcher and went to. This dude breaks out. His ballistics information easier to got a notebook or he's got it on a smartphone in a smartphone. I don't know how it spits out. All this information that does. But because he's like a sniper guy. He's calling wind and the the scope say user, just insane. As far as the quality. Do you MIR we got radicals, we got crosshairs? That's all we got crisis. So it was it was fun. I wish you would have been there because you would add a blast. And with those guns. You got you'd have been busting those targets to, but it was just it was fun to shoot with someone who knew shit palm more than me. And nothing nothing. He taught me anything. But just when you talk to someone with that knowledge is very, very helpful. And it was also cool because he was behind me at a real powerful, you know, spotting scope, so he would tell me where I was hitting where to make an adjustment..

"Three hundred yards and a touchdown only. Got sacked one time by the Philadelphia Eagles. And I would say he was out there. Earning his money week five out there. Earning his money and helping to avenge even though it wasn't his team helping to avenge the franchises embarrassing loss at the hands of the eagles in last year's NFC championship. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio Paul Allen with the call on the Vikings radio network. Interesting day for the NFC north the Chicago Bears are on a by. So you won't hear me. Talking about them. However, the Vikings go into Philadelphia and take advantage of an eagles team. That really is struggling scuffling struggling on offense. I don't know that you can pinpoint one thing over another. But it's mistakes. It's turnovers at the worst possible times. You got some really nice numbers for guys like Zach ertz. And even if you looked at Wednesday's numbers, you wouldn't think they were terrible. But man when they are in critical moments. Instead of coming up with the big plays the clutch plays. They're falling short. Now. Does that mean they are going to make the playoffs? They are going to be a contender. No. It's still only week five and the NFC east is wide open. But they shoot themselves in the foot and the Vikings. They took advantage. The Minnesota defense was stifling in this game. Not only did they force a fumble from JJ, yo, and what was the through the third of the three yard line. But they also held the eagles to two and nine on third down. There was the touchdown by the big, man. It might be your choice for TD of the week. We'll get to that on our next show. But gosh is worth listening to and talking about over and over again goes back to pass..

"A lot less time on the clock left last year against the falcons and they came back and warm a game in overtime and unlike last year there are actually moving the football this year in the first half of the of the game tom brady has almost three hundred yards passing in the first half so quickly here here's there are the gambling numbers for the the second half of this game and i'll tell you which ones i like which ones i don't like i think it'd be probably a little foolish to take the eagles in the second half of this scale like i i expect the patriots to make a run at the at the eagles here the patriots are minus six and a half in the second half so i don't know if you think the if look if if you think the eagle's can hang on and win this thing patriots minussix an asked of the patriots kennedy gave the patriots basically the patriots canada within three and they lose by feel go you win your bat so patriots minus six and a half in the second half the overunder of twenty seven and a half is very intriguing the under is very intriguing and i know this has been a game were both teams moved up and down the field i expect with a long halftime with a very long halftime i expect defense is coordinated by jim schwartz on the eagle side and essentially bella check and map patricia and the patriots side to kinda tighten things that i think the only way you lose on an under twenty seven and a half in the second half of this game would be if like last year i give it went over time the you know and a team and then the team tact an extra six on like the patriots did last year twenty seven and a half let's do the math that's that's there will be like having a fifty five point total on this game these two defences are too good i think to give up as many yards and points as they did in the first half of this game i just that i just my gut feeling i feel that way about this game so i like the under twenty seven and a half in the second half of this game.

"On that so to me go into new england what what's the what's the the way the they can win this football game it's its marcus maryoto has to throw his way through it they're going after he's gonna have to have this state supreme game where he throws for three hundred yards and three four touchdowns and just expands on everything that he did last week i can't imagine any other way that they can compete with the patriots so there is some doubt about blake portals at quarterback and there is some doubt about marcus mary owners your alluding to a quarterback here's a lotta doubt about nick folz a quarterback so hot the eagles best put nick falls in a position to succeed i worry about a backup quarterback that hasn't played a ton he's got a month i'm grateful for that but playoffs are so different and there's running into a team that's a buzzsaw now because there are better in playoff team they've got a chip on their shoulder and they figured out the whole new offense of coordinator we're going to run the football first and you saw the last week in la so in my mind nick falls needs to be new they're going to have to raise the risk profile he can't just managed this game and go win it he's going to have to be a reason that they when it and that risk praful profile goes up dramatically for backup and so that's the challenge the last couple of weeks games that nick played didn't go so well and so the risks in my mind is is is a little bit beyond what we can expect him to handle in a playoff scenarios i'm worried and i think philadelphia eagle fans should be worried as well that nicon rise of that occasion and face the atlanta falcons defense what is going to play right in in which assailant quarterbacks quarterbacks worth out.

"That the ownership of the giants is exceedingly upset about how this was handled and that the conversation they had with bed makah do is it the conversation that mac adult had with ally the whole thing got botched and butchered which we heard all of last week the reports are that potentially even though this is so different than the way the mira family handles things that mac adult could be fired before the end of business on monday so that could be a major storyline coming back on monday night but he lie said a i don't want anyone to get fired it's not the coach's fault were the ones they're playing poorly and be unequivocally elimiating says he will play in two thousand eighteen he is not retiring after hours with amy lawrence here on cbs sports radio so we are that quarterback change for the giants for the first time in fourteen years hasn't been quite that long for the neider since a quarterback change in fact they're rookie cj bet third had taken over not that long ago maybe a month and a half ago or so but jimmy garoppolo took center stage in chicago as the niners played the bears end as luck would have it this is where he grew up he grew up in chicago's to get a lot of family and friends there he was twenty six of thirty seven he slung the ball around to a lot of different targets so lots of distribution something he learned from tom brady in addition to that he scribbled he was able to extend plays because of his mobility he did thrown interception but he had nearly three hundred yards not devoid of weapon so there were no touchdowns just a lot of robbie gould field goals we give him second out of it was really more about watching this guy look so comfortable in the niners offense through this debt in the second half alone he was eight of eleven on third down and seven of those conversions came on long pass plays this guy's settled it.

"We'll sit down and will visit about a team and a quarterback who you say that who clearly might zimmer is now had the intention of say all right well teddy bridgewater back we probably need to start working him into the lineup and then keep scheme goes now i'm good three hundred yards four touchdowns qpr of ninety eight point nine i got this one and he has been leading for the majority of the season because of the injuries the sam bradford a team that is seven in two and a top their division and you're talking about making a quarterback change potentially to this group almost waiting for it really waiting for the other shoe to drop to try and get a guy back in who hasn't played football and what feels like a year and a half so again all of these seven and records not necessarily created equally in this and then opened by the way we go down we talked about the new orleans saints going on the road defying that dome t label and then have the talk with your kids about the los angeles rams a team that just continues to go out and not just beat teams but fully throttle them the guys on the stat the other day that was angeles rams have three thirty plus point where thirty plus point wins on the season i'll do a quick glance here and make sure that i'm not line you guys it's one that's too and that's three that it'd be three thirty plus point winds quick math right here.

"Team that you talk about how do they bounceback nc state gave up over three hundred yards rushing to notredame over three hundred yards rushing lost by three touchdowns the irish one running away how does nc stay respond now that they get back home against glimpse at i think that's going to be one of the greatest atmospheres of the day because that stadium can get rocket and i think with clemson coming to town it will be for instance state who a couple things will that game will get back to oklahoma secondary like first thought they had their attention the wolf pack have clumps of the tension based on last year we talked about how that game wet and how it should have bennett nc state victory dave dohrn should've tried to get more yards instead of selling for a field goal which was of a chip shot they missed it goes the overtime clemson wins that should have been clemson loss later on in the year clumps of lost the pit held eliminated them from the equation for a final four they would have not a one a national title they survive somehow that game that's why this game aimed today has clump as attention they know would empty states capable while they saw it on the field edged year when they had a big time quarterback a big time receiver that are not there now okay and you think about the loss already happening that's already occurred in a car november it's already happened that he hit a ball against the committee gave them what they definitely did it wasn't just the fact that bryant was hurt visit defense didn't show up for that game against syracuse that's why they don't want to say that that's why they lost syracuse running up and down the field on their defense in that in they're specially they are tired of hearing about the quarterback got hurt you watched the game but but it you what seeing that deefat have blown coverage after blown coverage couple defense why not get there for the quarterback like they dare dungy look like brett far okay all right you can come on okay but now they get a chance to say okay we thank the could well prove the committee right and we're gonna keep role will now this should be a time where they click in the.

"The way that he is most effective he shut down at one point it was like while as mike evans even on the field he had a great job shunning him down and credit as well to malcolm butler and to sean jackson who really didn't get going into late in the game when he had that forty one yard catch to set up i think the touchdown i got them tier 4 he also was badly beaten on what should have been a sevenyard touchdown and jamus as just terrible and adapt but that is my that was my point is that i the reason i i feel navy like teensy little bit like four centimeter better is because i do think i liked that the the patriots move dont'a hightower back to his natural position of playing middle linebacker i thought it was far more effective we heard his name call that's for sure a lot more on thursday night that we have in the past i thought that they they made they made they simplify the secondary which made them more effective but they also played they still are jamus winston to throw for more than three hundred yards in cheetah's winston was terrible and his receivers where dropping the passes that literally i mean they'd the camera bates touchdown the genotype shocked the i was right on the numbers and that have been a couple of times so it to me it was as much about what tampa couldn't do as what the patriots did do yeah and on top of that like the thing that we've seen in a bunch of people said this on twitter patriots riders but the thing we've seen give them so much trouble those bunch formations we have three receivers on one side and epa snatched anthony do that one knows no to cover it's like just to temple watch any film that made no sense to me it's like this is something the patriots have struggled with mightily and you don't do it and you by the way you have bunch of good receivers now they have a bunch of good receivers and they didn't do it.

"Reason that i am dress which is their defense is awful right now they've allowed thirty plus points a game for the third time this season they only did that once last year and really a defense that if you look at didn't have a ton of change in a defense that can't stop the pass they allowed alec smith to throw for over three hundred yards which as was joking earlier every time cicadas come out is the only time that smith throws for three hundred yards is not very often so when that kind of quarterback and that's no slide against him alec smith is a talented quarterback can actually love watching him play but he's not a guy that throws all over teams and then you let it to shawn watson or even earlier than today in his career goal for over three hundred yards in an akin who has been struggling for over three hundred yards it question lays into that secondary which you page to fond gilmore 65 million dollars she held on to devon accordion malcolm butler they haven't performed the way the in in the way that you've put the money there and so that falls on not only the the front to get more pressure on the quarterback in the back end a hold strong in that mean to me and concept coverage the bill pedal check does but belloch check is one of the the reason we love them is one of the best weektoweek gain plan schemers that we've ever seen in that hasn't been up to par either so tom brady masks a lot of that most of the time to right now it's it's a problem so i'm not jumping ship because the those two names that i keep talking about but it's not looking good right now you guys can get to us on twitter of course you can tweet us on the 1800flowerscom twitter feed a you can get to him at j rogers eleven i'm at jason fits also at espn radio you guys know that we love the interactive conversation earlier if you missed mr right at the top of the show zakar it's came monitor a little bit about momentum and and to that extent to what you just said jordan it feels like maybe cam today may have gotten a little momentum and in what was a big win well possibly the biggest surprise maybe the most momentum of the day came from a quarterback.

"And quite honestly not many forty nine er fans were the stadium seats there was eighty kabai points at but the game was decided by two point there was an intersection on the first play the game muffed fumble on the kickoff return three hundred yard passer 100yard rusher three hundred yard receivers to quarterbacks combined to complete five or seven passes thrown twenty yards down the field there were to touch on scored on fourth down there was an onside kick recovery and there was a game time twopoint conversion there are a lot went on allies i thought it was a pretty good game and and we do need to talk about the rams and you know the defense we know about but what your gough is doing on the offense at side absolutely and we'll get into that on the other side of tough we continue with the vis one of the nuggets jared gough three touchdown passes and todd girlie one hundred forty nine scrimmage yards led the way for the rams girlie the first player since mega trond at six touchdowns in the first regained in the end he starting to look like the girl you know i took him a lot as a matter of fact we had that draft last year about fighter david johnson number one and we all live after brilliant i picked we pick todd gurley and he was he wasn't any anything i really on the fantasy last year before this year he's one of the ball well and thirteen catches i believe it's thirteen he has out of the backfield and threegame with needed to happen with girlie he needed to be become back kinda back so he gets one hundred yards last night and then a couple of additions robert wood savvy watkins go over a hundred yards and jerk golf is showing a nice football out there as well listen i it's a remarkable transition from your one the year two for jerkov and that was off the top as we are often rolling on a football friday here on mike and mike by the way mike mike is presented by grissom insurance more independent agent sell progressive insurance than any other brand find an agent at progressive dot com now that's progressive.
