His book is once upon a time in Hollywood as you started talking about Sharon Tate, though I mean, there's a section in the book that may be my favorite section, the Hollywood or bust section, really, In terms of the all things we're talking about intimacy and self awareness and an agreement with loneliness and this idea of how much information you want to let out about yourself. All these things that are somatic throughout the book all come to play in that section. It is kind of interesting that the two characters are very friendly with each other, but they're both withholding certain information because they don't want to be stuck with the other to the other one. That chapter is almost always It could be its own movie. Yeah, no, it could be a the scenes at work that are tied to the narrative but aren't necessarily a bone connected to the narrative. Those are probably the some of the more interesting chapters in the book because they play like little short story chapters but would characters you know, and it's going in the same direction of the movie. Uh, that one in particularly I like because just his name is a sweetie, which actually is the my mother's father's name. Which really cool name, actually remember her grandfather? I can't remember. But to me that characters Junior Bonner, it's Junior Bonner is you're here. You're basically describing like Steve McQueen continue like he's on the way to the Prescott, Arizona. He's little literally on his wage of the movie. Junior Bonner. He's on his way to Prescott. Arizona Rodeo. Uh, no. I talked about the truth. Well, listen, and the way you described it as a way, McQueen looked engineer Bonner, So it's like If she were playing in the getaway, and and they had met what that might have been like, But you realize they don't belong together. I'm going apart. Absolutely, uh, and that That's why I was moving because it's so much about archetype of who these people are me this. It's my favorite chapter in the entire book for that reason. We haven't talked about it, but, uh, Elvis was one of the first people to read the book because the thing about it was I was writing an hour's about like maybe four or five chapters into it, but I wasn't telling anybody except for my wife what I was doing. And it was just kind of writing by myself. No one was waiting for it. I didn't tell anybody. I'm turning it into a book. And then I finally decided, so this just doesn't stay a weird, morbid hobby. For me. Let me start sending a couple chapters out to my friends and have them read a couple and that would get me excited about what they've read about what they're reading, and that would get me excited about writing more chapters for them to read more. And so I sent it out to my two agents. My film agent in my, um, literary agent, I said, started sending chapters out to you and I sent chapters after David Heymann, the producer, and Roger Avery I co write around Pulp Fiction, and you guys were the first people to read the book. And as I was writing it, I was just I didn't know if you remember I would write Send you three chapters at a time. So the next time I had, like three done chapters, I'd send them off and wasn't so much even to get like a whole lot of feedback. It was just knowing that somebody was reading them. Knowing that somebody was waiting for them. It stopped it from like I said, being a weird, morbid, happy that I could stop at any point in time. I always thought a part of this, too, is just when you're not working. The exercise of writing is something you do just as so to keep yourself in shape, but also because you're always thinking about characters and we've talked about this obviously on the air before People extrapolate, but what it is you're doing what your next project is going to be like. They have no idea what he's gonna really do, because I know what he's doing. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's writing. It has nothing to do these things they're talking, you realize like how outrageous the speculation usually is, compared to what the reality is and not as interesting because in getting these chapters and getting you in pieces like that, I felt like I was getting them. Almost an episodes, and they weren't coming in order. That was not at first, but then they got it. Yeah, but I mean, initially they weren't which was excitement for me because I didn't know how it was going to be laid out. Just getting pieces and well, I'm not sure where I'm going to put this but take a look. And and, yeah, Seeing it now laid out like this, seeing it that this structure that's given to it really For me just hit something these things that I know I mentioned to you before, but again, the idea of intimacy and then just loneliness, which is also to me, it's the Don Siegel influence on. Yeah, I mean, because so many of the characters in Siegel are like well Am I okay with this? Yeah. I mean, you know, are you Joe Don Baker. Or are you Walter Matthau? Alright? Yeah. Yeah, well, but also I mean, like, also sending it to use a little different for the simple fact that Okay, well, there's maybe, like six people out there who are going to get every reference in the book, and you're one of the six. It's like you Todd McCarthy, a couple other people, but that's about it. Well, that's very kind of you said my guess who's being incredibly generous is Quentin Tarantino. His novel is once upon a time in Hollywood. I'm here's You don't mind me putting on the spot because we haven't talked about it. What did you think of the older, right chapter? Is this when i watched had how bet asshole was mistreated his mother. When i read. I use mistreating. His mother oh b. Remember because he he i he hobbies. Mom is just trying to take care of her son. She loves the forgot her son she feels bad. She's not she was in the hospital and she had to have him supporting her. So she's out here. Like i'm gonna do whatever i can for my baby. She goes and put ourselves in this situation that she doesn't even know what she's doing and he has to like defend her honor in it. I just got it just. It's really good undergo underdog story. 'cause it's a great underdog story really did come from nothing and starts. Why people who get it up mood. He got it out the mud any any. It's not like and although he does seem to have kind of like a latent talent for it's like oh he's going to win. Every fight in everything is going to be sunny as sunshine us. I'm very interested. But i've i've never read something like this in the book house this in but it has been so intrigued i actually just got the audit last night and i was listening through it again and i was like this really is a good story and having somebody else read it allows me to take in. I can just pause it and not be like on. My eyes are tired or something like that. Because i do need to get glasses them lagging on that but this please let me get it in there. But i was just curious. 'cause stephen king is dr but he's also very on the twisted horrid aspects of curious. It was more of a realistic dark. Like a sherlock holmes. Kind of dark story mystery versus. I guess say. "Is the book of genesis. Well it's the book beginnings and so it's telling us what happened at the beginning of the story that is going to form the entire arc of the biblical story. But it's important to remember that it's not just telling us what happened in the beginning. It's telling us what god did in the beginning and so it keeps god as the central figure of all of the action and that can actually as we head into this Season that lovey. Who wanna keep top of mind because we start to talk about whereas in the first eleven chapters. We talked about four events Creation fall flood and babble now in the second half of the book which is actually much longer than the first half. We're gonna talk about four. People abraham isaac jacob and joseph. I'm so mad at you right now in this present moment because when you say stuff like that it makes me. Did you have that going into next. Because i have been preparing episode run sheets and not one single time. Have you said we'll call. You know the first eleven chapters are really four events and the next forty eight chapters or thirty eight chapters for people because that would have been a great line from somebody else. I mean come on. It's not like i sit around at night map in this stuff out. Yeah and i'm never up to snuff so it asked the story. Arc moves toward a description of people. We do want to bear in mind that the central figure is still going to be y'all way and how he's acting in the earliest recorded Stories of human history for us so But but again it's a book beginnings meaning that all of the and i think we said last season. The genesis is often referred to succeed. Pot of the bible is where all of those themes wanna see go. All the way through to revelation are being set up for us. So that's what we spent a long time last season and we'll do this season doing is looking for what are those. What are the threads in. How can we begin to see them with greater ease and regularity as we move into the rest of the scriptures us great so okay so genesis book of beginnings first eleven chapters four people. Next section. Twelve through fifty is for events but jt. Why would why would. Why would we spend all this time studying. Yeah i did just get it backwards. And i said it backwards. Genesis eleven four events genesis. Twelve fifty four people in residual. Okay so jt. Why would we spend a whole season studying genesis. I mean like why not. Just get to the good stuff in the new testament and just roll. Yeah so. I mean. One of the things that i i think. The lord's really teaching me right. Now that i'm trying to learn in my ability to be a bible reader and a bible teacher is to see how really the whole story of scripture is in those first three chapters. It's also in those first eleven chapters that we did last semester. It's then it's in the next fifty minutes in the pentateuch. The first five books of the bible that really when you look at genesis to revelation the whole story of scripture which we think forms hold disciples wanted list hopes in this podcast. Is that you just know. The story of the bible may be able to participate in be participants in the story. And you can't. You can't participate in the store. You don't know is that they would see they would see that. The story of the bible really finds its seed form all of its hyper links through the rest of scripture. Here in the book of genesis genesis. I don't want to say that there's any book that's not foundational. We love all sixty six. The bible not including third corinthians kyle but all six bucks at arrival We we need to know. We need to love. Because god has put treasures there for us. But i i i do wanna say this carefully. Genesis is one of those primary pillar books that you don't get it right. How To Plan To Age Well

"With me today is Stephanie Erickson. She has a book called plan for aging. Well, there's definitely something we should all be doing. So thanks for joining me Stephanie off. My pleasure. Thank you so much. So we were chatting before about your book and there was a three chapters that really interested me one is a topic. I talked about a lot putting together a team. But we also touched a little bit on how we age correctly how we age maybe not as correctly and then planning not just for your financial and physical health, but also the health of your soul, so can we start with maybe planning for our excuse me talking about how people aged well and how they age not so often. Yeah. Well, I think first of all there's a range of what's well and what's not well, so the first thing is we have to Define what that means to our self, right? Cuz a lot of people and I think women in particular, I know me and my friends we talk a lot about aging and we're talking about our skin. We're talking about our wrinkles. We're talking about what our body changes and that is a piece of Aging but there's the other part which you alluded to and we'll get to which is the heart and the soul of Aging but in terms like in in relationship to the book when I'm talking about aging well, I'm talking about meeting all of those needs that we Have those holistic needs the body mind and soul and doing that in a way where we are transparent and inclusive with our family sharing what our expectations are our value systems in conversations prior to a crisis cuz most of us end up reacting once there is one and we forget to plan in advance. So really I think aging well is about having some forethought thinking in advance about what you want your life to be as you get older and then sharing that plan and getting the buy-in from those around you that makes sense and as most listeners know, I have a grandmother that's a hundred thousand two and half so you definitely want to plan because I don't think most of us at the beginning of our adult life expect to live to be over a hundred and she did say three years ago three and a half years ago. She was striving to hit a hundred and five and this was right. I know right after my dad her oldest son had passed away that happened. Or 99th birthday day. We interned him at the military cemetery and I was like Fifty and a quarter and I just remember thinking I can't I can't there's a exhausted. There's no way I'm quite feel the same right now. So, you know, I'm all about quality mean if I can live to be a hundred and two and do all the things that I enjoy or not. Maybe mm but most of the things I enjoy great if not not interested. So, is there a way of kind of planning so people understand what our what our opinion of quality is? Cuz make sure I say that right quality not quantity. Well you were saying what you were saying is that you you want to live longer than a long as you can live in a way that's comfortable for you. And so I think that's about rethinking what our own expectations are in terms of what we're going to be able to do physically because the reality is as well. Get older we will have more physical difficulty moving around. I'm sorry. I'm not I'm very fit right now and very strong and fifty but I'm definitely not the same as I was when I was twenty-five. I was more fit and even stronger right? And so when I'm ninety I might still be really strong but that doesn't mean that I going to be able to you know, pump out Thirty push-ups or something, right? So I think we need to be realistic about what we mean and I think part of the challenge that I see is that people connect aging with that physical body and we're not addressing the other parts of us because I think even if our body slows down there are things that we can do internally that can bring us a lot of fulfillment and satisfaction. So even if our body is not is not moving in the same way. We can still feel fulfilled and that to me is the real challenge about aging well as is getting in touch with that part definitely having a purpose and and if you have a purpose then you can log Fulfilled is important. So can we touch on that a little bit before we move on to the other topics? We're going to talk about. Yeah, I think a purpose is is good and they, you know, our our identification so much is about the roles that we play and so much around work, right? So when people when you meet someone you'll say so what do you do? It's not like wage. Who are you? What are your about? It's what do you do? So everything is about you know, our role as a social worker. I'm a mom. I'm a wife, you know, it's all of these roles and so I think finding a purpose beyond what those rules are is really important and to start to find that deeper part of who we are earlier on because eventually we won't be working wage. Eventually. Our kids won't need us in the same way, you know, so if I'm not a social worker, who am I if I'm not caring for kids who are saying mommy, mommy, mommy every 15 minutes then who am I I need job. Find something else within me that makes me me that I can carry on Beyond and I think for me that's about the purpose is knowing who you are in another way outside of those traditional roles.

How to Give Visitors a Wow! Experience

Hello, How are you? And where are you this week? I am in addition to many recorded visits all around the world. I am Live this week June for a regional compact. In event, so I'm in Canada this week. That sounds all right. Now also this week I have a guest this is his fifth visit to as a guest to be an iPod cast and his name is Mark Applebaum. Mark has been would be and I for over 15 years. He's been a director consultant for more than five years. He's long and successful chapters in the b&i Utah and North Region Marx married to his amazing life. He says Tiffany for almost twenty years with two children Ryan and Tom Jenna and one of the things that Mark loves to do is to teach chapter members how to give visitors a wow experience. I can't think of anything better than that. Welcome back Mark mm contest. Thank you so much. I've it's great to be back. What's good to have you here? And you want to start by talking about making visitors female wanted so the floors your home. Well, thank you, you know a little background of where my y about this topic came up his growing up. I grew up back east in New York and my dad owned a pet store or at the time when I was growing up and I worked for my dad for many years and my dad was the world to me and he struggled a lot financially. So if a customer ever left his store, but happy it really affects his livelihood. So I was did my best to if a customer wasn't having a positive experience at least have them leads as happy as possible and you know in vni every visitor is not only a potential customer to be an eye, but it's a potential customer for ourselves. It's a their potential referral partners for ourselves more could lead us to potential customers or referral Partners. So how we treat our visitors. It's just imperative. So this podcast, you know, if you're a visitor host. It's not just meant for the visitor house out there. It's really meant for every single member to take on the mindset of a visit. Post because we all play a role in that visitor experience and it's in the future success of our chapter know let me just add one thing to you real quick. I know if you know this, but when I started back we didn't have visitor hosts. One of the things I said was that if you invited a visitor you had to be there host and honestly that didn't work as well. So because not everybody's created equal as a host wage and we did create visitor host. But that was my initial concept with b and I was that everybody had to be a host especially the person that invited them and I love the story to share in in givors gained about the visitor you sent to a chapter who ended up going to a different chapter who's the chapter that actually designed to visit our house program. That's either story. So everyone listening think about the region your chapters in and the amount of chapters you have in your region and just here in the Utah North Region. We have fifty three chapters and just in the Salt Lake area we have over 2,000 chapter wage. So depending on what what a visitor does they really in a twenty-mile radius twenty-minute radius. They have a wide variety of of chapters to choose from. So if you if the for the people if you take a moment and think about your chapter and the culture that it has now imagine for a moment every chapter in your region met at the same time the same day in the same location as all the other chapters sure that's not possible. But imagine it was for a moment. Yeah, I would a visitor choose your chapter over all the other ones and you know, it really comes down to what the poet Maya Angelou says best people will forget what you said people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel. Yes, what a visitor feel welcomed and important. They're more likely to want more of that and yep. That's why we all play a role in that positive experience. Whether you're the visitor host or not your contribution to your chapter and that in your involvement with how the visitor enters the room and Enterprise is in call and and welcoming them really makes such a difference. So a few examples of ideas that members and chapters can take on that could be very beneficial to them. The first is off when the visitor is already registered in BNI connect. The leadership team will receive an email saying so-and-so is registered to to visit on this particular day. Right? Well, the idea would be that the president of the chapter soon after getting that email sends a personal email to that visitor and also on that email they copy on the email other members in the chapter that are complementary to the visitor and then purpose of all that is 1 to let the visitor know how excited they are to meet them to to give them any instructions. They they may need to you know, show up but yep. To really let the visitor know that these other members could be great power Partners together with that visitor and so a great success story. I'd like to share is about three years ago as a director. One of my roles was placing visitors helping visitors find Chapters and I was working with one professional and his business was custom mens clothing and because of his schedule I took it into three different chapters and the third chapter he went to the president at the time Steve level who's the business attorney in the chapter was phenomenal at doing this and so he sent this personal email to this month custom clothing gentleman, and he see see the financial adviser and the family law attorney on on the email who both of them also replied to the custom clothing gentleman saying Thursday, we looks so we look forward to meeting you we too could use help with their own wardrobe and that visitor ended up visiting and a couple of weeks later. He ended wage. Joining and a couple of weeks later. I called them to say to figure out why he picked that chapter over the other two and in his words. He said that that chapter had an unfair Advantage because without one month then, you know connected to the members before they even met them that he wanted to join a group and three years later. He still a member of the group

Stephen Wright on 'Processed Cheese'

"Is the show most excited about. I've been excited in anticipation of it for a long time. The author Steven Wright has been on bookworm twice a four. I love his work and it takes him the Gourd zone time to complete it. I've been waiting for his newest novel which is called processed cheese and which is published by Little Brown. Oh for around seven years and as I read it I wanted it to never be over. I wanted to be reading it forever. I think like Stevens other books. It's made out of sentences and a feeling about the world that's completely his own knowing. No the title processed cheese. Stephen has been with you for a while. I've been wanting to write a book with that title since I can remember so. I finally did the title game before the Book Way. Back when I was sixteen. One of the things my father did was to make cheese board sees pieces of wood which cheese was attached under plastic at first when it started out like most American things they were real genuine supreme vintage cheeses but as things had to be less and less expensive to be made. These cheeses were replaced by process cheeses and the expensive store. The same bloomingdale's that sold the cheese board was replaced by five and ten where you could get. The junk is on the junk board in the junk rapper. And that was what growing up in. America was light during that period that was UAE. May Be we needed the sixties so when. I saw your tunnel processed cheese. It meant so much to me about the end of quality and the beginning of junk in my child he read it exactly the right way. That's terrific now. Tell me this is a book about as one of the first chapter says money money money money money money money. It's about the replacement of everything by the need for money. And more money and under funded coppell find that the husband has been hit by a bad. Were walking down a street. The bag is filled with hundred dollar bills. Which are wrapped in plastic packets? He suddenly got more money than he or his wife. Ambience know what to do with his name is graveyard. Her name is Ambien. Stephen Word of these names come from. I wish I knew they just. I don't know where they came from. The thing is that when they occurred to me it just seemed absolutely right that these were the right names for these people so they stock all of the names of the people in this book are based on industrial processes or Johnke. The city's the places are named things like random Burg this is the world that's died down and been replaced by the equivalent of processed cheese. John Exact has replaced everything. Yeah that is the theme of the book. Yes now the book is so funny. I mean you'll pardon me laugh out loud funny I laugh out loud myself sometimes thinking about phrase or line yes so that's pretty pleasing when he can laugh at your own stuff even years after you wrote it. It's a hung aureus book but a book. That's hilarious about a tragedy of life. That life does not feel like life anymore that life feels like its own version of processed cheese. Yeah exactly how do you live while riding such a book? It's Day by day. You just get through the day like everybody else. You know you get through each day as best you can but. I need to tell my listeners that Steven Wright our guest is the author of five books the first one was called Meditations in Green. It was the first major who Gustav Nation of Vietnam. The second book M Thirty One was a family romance. I pointed out when reading it that it seemed to be based on the nightmare. Gatherings in Faulkner's novel sanctuary. But you don't have to know that it's a Family of people who believe in Outer Space Aliens going native was a book. Oh Stephen I really was barely out of my twenties. I was given this show to do and I asked someone. I think it was an beady. Who SHOULD I meet in New York publishing? Who would help me to know how to go about doing books on my show and she sent me to the man who turns out to have been your life long friend and editor Michael Pietsch. Yes he gave means three chapters of the then unpublished looney tunes novel going native. I say gooney tunes novel because it has on its original edition a big looney tunes series of circles you expect bugs to be poking his head through And I then spoke to Stephen when going native came out the amalgamation Polka imagined that southern scientists were able to change the color of the skin of the people that they wanted to amalgamate. It's a bizarre disturbing novel. That reminds me of Herman. Melville's peer or the ambiguities. Steven Wright did me the favour of teaching me. What the word in that. Some title Pierre or the ambiguities means. Tell US Stephen. The subtitle is Pierre or the ambiguities and it turns out that in the nineteenth century. That was a phrase that was used for someone who lost their mind. He's got the ambiguities. Isn't that amazing? I did not know that 'til I was done with the book. "Talking about data signs management. This is something we've been China about for a while leading wrote and a Riley report together on this very topic a few months ago and and thought it would be worthwhile to get in and talking through. So that's what we're doing today talking about once. You have a data science team in place. How do you keep those learning? How do you keep them growing? How do you think about moving along in their careers? All that good stuff. So you're listening to the year diversions in our last couple of episodes which listen to strongly recommend that you go back and pick goes up by a little bit of recap here so we talked a little bit about getting into data science and the different types of data scientists. How you assemble a team and why it's so important to get the right blood in your team once you have? The team assembled or you. How kind of critical mass us most of your time? These days is not your managerial time by not beyond hiring. But it's instead on growing your not making sure that they're learning and they're sticking around. They're happy hair progressing in their careers. You say yes yes yes sorry you can't you can't you can't hear me now so and this was something that we it's your three chapters to talk about if I recall correctly because it's really important and it's a for me this the the stuff. That's not always obvious because sometimes if you're a good manager you're working super hard and but people don't see the things that you're you know fighting for the process of the you're putting in place two two happy I don't know maybe maybe it's a little bit cynical but sometimes given the only time you hear about is when people are unhappy with their happy sounds about right. Yeah I I think that's just as of nature of the beast so but when we were together we together for a couple of years. I remember even when I started at that job. There was a lot of. There's a lot of stuff that was in place when I write the action that you were part of starting some of this certainly part of of continuing the things that have been started before your time of that created a really nice learning environment and so I think that now upon on reflection I realized how important that was for me as a younger data scientist as a way of learning and and stay happy so if as you can get a little bit of detail about what was the you put in place out of things April so yeah it's funny. I actually don't know that I can take credit for having put in place a lot of the good things that we had But I can't take credit for stealing them and putting them in place in my current company actually But there's actually I think one of my favorite topics at least one of my favorite topics from the book and the way the way we talk about it in the book is kind of this idea of like foam. Oh like fear of missing out that like data scientists really have this feeling that like if they're not using cool new techniques learning things that they're like falling behind and just again anecdotally like I think a Lotta people quit jobs or go from company to company because they feel like they're getting stagnant or they're not learning anything anything or doing anything interesting at their company so some of these things that we had in place to help combat that that feeling that people can have so. What kinds of things are we talking about so we're big fans of of just a simple idea of having a journal Club where folks get together? Read a paper of blog posts. It's like something like that. Maybe they've ideally they've read the paper of the blog post but that's not necessarily mandatory and get together and discuss it Someone who has like selected the paper could maybe give the short presentation but really you can just do it over lunch and spend an hour talking about a paper blog post like learning something new dirty secret. You never read the paper. I know what I was GONNA say. Everyone has been very often but every once in a while I'll realized that Journal Club is on a topic that I wanted to do on podcast anyway and then I'll make sure gotta check. Oh all your listeners. Know the secret purchase but and we have like A. I think we find that a great way for people to keep learning stuff but it's also a good opportunity for the company because a lot of interested engineers or analytics people. Oh Com people who are a little bit Interested in getting into the field and it's just a good rates like socialized data science. Like around your your company One thing we've done a few times he's like when we forgot to select paper is to have like a cold. Like Davis is movie night where we will find a talk from an interesting conference. Like Pie de puts video video online a lot of conferences. But there'd be online and we'll just like sit for the hour and like watch talk a conference talk together and I think people often accumulate these lists of things they wanNA watch and they don't have the time for it and that's just another way to get people like watching something Learning something so journal Club thing. That were a big fan of the second one I think is like some sort of dedicated halftime and I definitely did not start this at our previous job and I definitely didn't even come up with the best iteration that I think that we've landed John so I've never three companies that have done halftime we've and seeing many flavors like one flavors like that we at a previous company was like half of every he Friday. You got to do whatever you wanted. Essentially another one has been like what is like a full day full day once a month. I think that's where we're doing a full day once a week at some point either way like that in those like short increments I find. They often don't work very well for two reasons. One people don't aren't able to at the time Apart like it was just half a day every week like you just get pulled in a meeting. So you'd get normal work like you can't actually. You can't actually do it even if it's like a day every other very hard at at the time aside so then we've tried whole team accolades and spending two days like working on something a team. We did cagle competition as a team wants. It's an and that has been fun has advantages but I think the the downside of that is that people can't work on the particular thing that they're interested or they want to learn about. Yeah Yeah So. That's a problem so I think both what we did at Civis and what we do now. Here is the idea of of individual hack weeks. And how often you do them depends is on your company. And what you what you can do. We do them quarterly. But you can. You can even do them once or twice a year but the idea is basically that each person gets to spend a dedicated week on like a hack project and because it's a whole week retire them to treat it like it's a vacation and plan for it like way out in advance and you know people can take a week advocation and get out of meetings and projects so do the same thing with this hack week actually set time aside a week as long enough to make meaningful progress on projects. It's like to actually get end to end on a prototype or try a new software package or open source somethin- and then the last bit is like some kind of bit of accountability to make sure people are actually doing something so Having a slight plan in place ahead of time that people can look at and then doing a presentation to the rest of the team at the end is super important so We do it on Friday as well help like a forty five minute presentation where the person that was on Hack Week. We'll walk the rest the team through what what they've done and so the rest of the team also gets to learn something new and cool but then that person realizes actually have to do something. Because I'm going to get off in embarrassments off. I have nothing to show for my

"My life. This is amazing. I am also a guardians mega family. You know, before we get into the reaction. Ben tell us what is going on here. Yes. So deadline reports that they've confirmed with both marvel and with James guns represent representatives that James Gunn is coming back to direct guardians of the galaxy volume three. They said that this decision was actually made months ago after after conversations between gun and Walt Disney studios president Allen horn. Apparently, they talked a bunch of times and horn just decided that it was a good idea to bring him back on he made some sort of mentioned that horn was convinced or felt that guns reaction was appropriate in terms of just like apologizing again, and sort of keeping his head low and not really. You know, making a big fuss about everything, and they just you know, the professional way that James Gunn hand handled this entire terrible situation, which was orchestrated in bad faith from the very beginning. It seems like his professionalism ended up coming back around in being the thing that that ended up getting him the job again marvel apparently never met with or considered any other director four guardians three. So although that talk about maybe Tikal ITT or Adam McKay, potentially stepping in was just you know, unfounded rumor, and we the only other really concrete piece of information. That's probably worth noting here is that James Gunn is going to direct. The suicide squad aka suicide squad too for DC, and then begin production on gardens of galaxy volume three so marvel and Disney are letting him I guess honored that the deal that he's already made with Warner Brothers in DC and letting him tackle that film. I before gardens three it's up and running by the way, letting him tackle. Oh that foam. I I think is a bit loaded. I keep on seeing people say Twitter. I'm sure he has a contract that prevents him from doing anything until he's done with the suicide squad. You know? You know? It's probably true. Yeah. I I could have chosen better words to to say that. Yeah. Good call. But people are like surprised that like marvelous letting him do that I feel like there's no way around that. It's quad comes out in the summer of two thousand twenty one which means that we're probably not he's not probably not going to get started on guardians three until probably late twenty twenty one which means we won't see until twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three. Right. Yeah. But the good news about this to like the script on stuff they might be able to fast track. It you know, depending on how I guess how far they had if they were into pre production at all before they were they had bore. They were vocation scouting. They were then. So it might not be may not take them as long. So maybe they'll get it done sooner. Yeah. Maybe he can, you know, do the the rest of wall E's working on to quite. I'm not sure how like contracts work if you're even allowed technically to do that. When you're committing yourself to one studio for one film. But okay, Brad, I I know you kinda gave you reaction, but give us a little more of it. No, I'm I'm so pump for this. It's it's been such a Downer ever since James gone was fired even rewatching the guardians movies. Just thinking about you know, him not being around for the third chapter him not getting a complete what he set out from the beginning. You know, he had talked about before how guardians three. He was supposed to, you know, bring the arcs of the original guardians to an end. And you know, usher in a new era for them made with some new characters and kind of kick off the the next ten years of the cosmic side of the marvel cinematic universe. Even though they've Kevin as recently kind of downplayed that a little bit.
