"Analyze obviously. Coming back to the first ten minutes, I was really surprised by a Munich they had some problems building up the game. They had some easy misplaced passes as well. So who would have known imagine the goal would have not happened what would have happened in the game. But this is football. And this also shows me again how much of a mind game football is. I mean, also the Mersenne by a Munich, we're going to win the game in the end. It all just plays in your head. What did you make of Thomas Tuchel? On the touchline at least even at four zero he didn't seem happy. No, because he saw still things like, I was watching him also from up there and you could see like when one of the center backs had the ball head space, he wanted that the center backs push the ball forward or driving forward or sometimes even the two three passes in the first ten minutes, Bayern had those situations where they didn't pass a good ball in the right moment, right speed. He was a little bit angry about it. But other than that, he's very happy. We talked before when two was passing by, he was a little bit excited a little bit nervous. Of course, but for him, it's a great start, I must say. Anna? But actually, I see some parallels between nagelsmann and toppling this matter. So we saw so many biomedical games as well. And August 1 was kind of similar, not really being happy after leading the game three or four zero. Let's call this going to come to us in a moment, but yes, you mentioned what Thomas Tuchel and the parallels there. I mean, it's kind of the same actually. So when

"You just articulate for new viewers. What role does football soccer Premier League soccer in particular play in the JJ watt life, especially now you retired? Oh, it's massive. And like I told you last time, it started with fee fund playing with Ivory Coast and then I followed with a Chelsea and then I became a Chelsea fan. The Premier League overall has taken on a massive role in my life. I mean, I'm sitting down tomorrow morning to watch the primarily slate. I'm watching championship games that I'm loving it and I'm looking at it at a much deeper level and I'm looking at it from a level of involvement that I dreamed about in the past, but is becoming closer to reality is too. You are now deeply obsessed. There is no doubt about it. You dropped a lovely tweet last month when you were trying to watch multiple games, including one in the championship. I think it was how this feel versus Burnley. And you comment was NFL fans from overseas who try to stream our games, I understand your struggle, explain to us what was happening here so we can gain a sense of the what matchday experience the heart of the struggle. So I have a room with a few TVs in it that I like to sit there for Premier League days. For one reason or another, I wasn't allowed in that room on that day. So I was in my main I was in the main room of the house. And we had, I wanted to put up a certain game. And so I just logging on my iPad, and I was trying to get it beamed up to the TV, but then the TV wasn't having it. And then at the end of it all, when I finally got it up there, it only showed up on like a tiny little part of the screen, so I was still watching on a small screen, and then my iPad battery died. So it all went to zero, so I had nothing. JJ watt having every day human being problems, we have all been there. But let's talk about the Premier League. Because last time we were on, we talked about your deep affection for Chelsea football club and JJ. I don't like to bring up old hot takes. That is not my style. But let's just say you had a lot of faith in Thomas Tuchel. Last time you came on, you boldly predicted that Chelsea would be competing for the title in one year's time. It is not gone so well. I have faith in two. I still have faith in tuple. That's the problem. It's the problem. That's the problem. Everybody does. There's one person that didn't. And that's the problem. What has happened since and how do you understand it? This is delicate situation roger. This is delicate to discuss. Because I'm very interested in soccer ownership. I'm going to say that at the beginning of this just because I've been looking at opportunities and different things and I've spoken publicly about it for a long time. I'm very interested in it. So am I speaking to a man that who's current dream is to have 50,000 people in a stadium chanting, what out? What out? Out of my glove. Exactly. I'm foreshadowing to that at some point in my life. And you're going to flash back to this interview and be like, he would look at him talk crap about these other owners and he couldn't even do it himself. But I will say, I think if I look at that situation, I'm objectively looking at it. Let's say as a Chelsea fan. You're looking at a guy coming in from overseas. You have a club that's been very successful. You had the owner had to leave, obviously, for a reason. You know, out of the club's control. And that owner had a certain way of doing things for a very long time, but he put people in place at the highest levels of the game. Tuch was one of the best managers, Petter check, Marina. I mean, the system in place was working very well. So somebody comes in and removes that manager, removes that director, removes that scouting department. That's not a job that you just feel with nobody, and you say you're going to do it yourself. Like if I come over there and I'm an owner of a Premier League team, I know for a fact that I am not the best person to be deciding on transfers and to be deciding on sporting direction. You have to put the right person in place and I think that that's kind of where it got awry was somebody without the proper knowledge thinking that they had. Cherry Jones makes it look so easy to do all the jobs. It's not so easy. And by the way, people who are listening to this are already trying to get to the end of the big reveal, and I'll just say it now, yes, JJ what I are both buying Everton together, but we're getting to that. They're going to be a lot cheaper in about 6 months watch. Don't do me like that, JJ, what? Don't think that darkness into my house. Let me at least. Are we getting into that at some point? I mean, you guys are going to have the most beautiful stadium in the championship. It's going to be incredible. JJ, what? The one thing I know about is you've sat more quarterbacks than most human beings and you can recognize that depreciating asset when you see one. But back to Chelsea for a second, I'll talk about evidence with it. I want you advice. I got to tell you. Last January, all these shiny new players arriving, you know, Enzo, 140 million mudrik, 106 million, how Felix and arrest. Did it feel like NFL Draft day where the team you played on had all the first round picks? So it feels good in a sense that your club is purchasing players and there's that ambition there to be great. I will say that it also didn't feel great from a standpoint that it almost felt like we didn't know our own team because you're bringing in so many new players and you don't know any of them and that identity is kind of gone. Whereas you come up with teams and there's guys that are through lines. I mean, as people look at through line content, like there's guys that you know when you love and it feels like when there's a brand new squad, the connection is lost. And I don't like when the connection is lost. Now that Chelsea scored is now bigger than the Cardinals roster and that includes the cards practice squad and you've been on a lot of teams JJ, you understand chemistry from the inside. You understand also chaos. When you look at this Chelsea squad, do you see like a process that order and one that does it feel like a Star Wars cantina that's always going to be just dimly lit, strong drinks, random outbreaks of violence. I don't know of anybody sees like, I mean, the first wave of signings was like $500 million of defenders. And yet Thiago Silva is still like our best guy back there. You know what I mean? We got like a 38 year old just running shot back there. Obviously we got Reese who's incredible and you love having respect there. But no, I to your point. I don't fully see the vision of, okay, where is this going? So poor Graham Potter and you've played for many coaches in your time in the NFL. What do you see when you watch him? I see a guy in an extremely tough position. I mean, he's been handed the keys to one of the best organizations in the world.

"So as it stands spurs are forth in the Premier League right now, no wins in the last three in all competitions and that does include an FA Cup and Champions League exit in the space of just over a week. Antonio Conte is out of contract this summer and there's been a lot of talk about whether he'll even see out the season. This is what he's had to say on the matter. I have a contract with Tottenham, I respect the contract. At the end of the season, assessments will be made with the club in the most serene way. Let's see how this season ends. Maybe they can send me away even earlier. Perhaps the expectations were higher and maybe disappointed what matters for a coach is trying to work and raise the bar this year, we are struggling to raise the bar. Jules, do you think he's even going to see the season out with spurs? I think so, I think so. I don't think he would resign for different reasons. I think for his own price to start with, for his contract, as you just said in the quote that you read. I don't think the club will get rid of him and pay him off the remaining what, three months of his contract right now. So may as well finish a season with him, I think while he says the other night is admitting him instead of that is failed. He's fading really because as we heard, he said the struggling to raise the level raised the bar, I've got no doubt that he won't be at the club next season. I don't think first want him to be at the club next season. I think they're already working on who's coming next. And they will they will have to get this one right because they've got too many wrongs now in the last few Pacino left really and the next one has to be the right one. There is a short list of candidates to replace him, taking a look at some of those names now for you. One of the big names is Luis Enrique, but at the top there you can see Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, deserve to be Thomas Frank and as you can see there, Luis Enrique as well. Which like any of them over home. Right. Who would you like most then?

"If you didn't know, that Bayern Munich unleashed the can can over that speakers have to goals. Now you do. This week buying defending narrow one nil aggregate lead over Paris Saint-Germain very kings the clutch time come and go at the park de France three weeks ago and our second subject of conversation today, the unforeseen man who's been bringing the goals for Bayern Munich this season all hail Eric maxim tupper moating, truly a fascinating gen 32 year old German born cameroonian closing in on signing a year extension with Bayern which will double his wages, a neat coda to a career that's been one of the unique peculiarities of modern European football and Rory. You rate a lovely piece. Always say tribute detailing the winding road through professional football at tupper as walked since making a scene a debut for his hometown club, hamburger SV, back in 2007, his story that up until 2018 was really representative of a middling experience of a career journeyman forward in Europe in broad strokes, goes a little bit like this four years at hamburger, including a loan to Nuremberg, the moats departed to my then managed by younger, more cherubic, less combed over Thomas Tuchel, scored 20 goals over three years, and that drew the attention of beautiful, beautiful shelter, who signed Derek to lead their line between 2014 and 2017, steady notoriety. Let's say, in Germany was built up, but his career then took an unexpected stop, a season, stoke, is there any other kind of stopping stoked and a quick one, which brings us to 2018 when after just 5 goals in 32 appearances for the potters. I mean, these numbers were not eye popping in any stretch, but in came PSGs, Thomas Tuchel. Oh, welcome back, keen to reunite with the cameroonian to make up debt beneath Edison Cavani. At a glance, Eric maxim trooper voting's career appears to be divided into two distinct phases, one of middling grind and one of glamour and glory, but as you're right, both halves are unified by a monk like patience, a gent who is willing to wait for minutes. Yes, but also waiting to be recognized tactically as more than just the big man up top. Can you tell us more about how you see that quality framing his career? To English eyes that there is something inherently not comic about cheaper molten, but he is always the guy who played for stoke. You see it, it matches him too much in store in a store and a Champions League taught a final for Paris Saint-Germain and you think that's the guy who plays for stoke. And he would say and he said he's a lovely man speaks perfect English really kind of engaging and intelligent and interesting. He would say that actually he wasn't as bad at stokers as everyone thinks that he stored 5 goals, but he made 5 goals. It was a struggling team that's not a bad return. I think there's an argument that that's a little bit of justifiable self praise. And very clearly the thing that mount marks the difference is that Thomas turkel ends up at PSG in need of a backup striker, someone to cover and maybe provide a slightly a slightly different option to some of the less physical strikers that he has. I think that's slightly unfair on cheaper motive. I think he is actually quite a technically gifted, he's a very smart player. He's deeply versatile. I spoke to the scout who recommended him to stoke, who said that look, he kind of he kind of has everything. He's physically strong and he's good in the air, but he's got a surprise and change of pace. He can accelerate off a defender's shoulder. He can run in behind, but also he can drop deep and play off both feet, keep the ball, do the technical hold up play that you need a striker to do. He is basically. A complete center forward. And I think the thing that apart from the relative serendipity of tour will be in place at PSG and manager who knew him and trusted him. I think the other thing that's happened to cheaper molten is the game has maybe drifted slightly more towards him. That there aren't many out and out number 9s now. There's not many players who have that still set that kind of package of abilities, that versatility, the technical ability, the speed and the strength. There's not a huge amount of them. So having someone like cheaper moating is actually quite precious, and obviously last season when Robert Levin dusty leaves Bayern. There have been loads of buying fans thinking we need to go and sign. Harry Kane or, you know, some of the elite center forward. But I think Biden looked at it and thought, well, you know what? We won't always play with an out and out 9, as teams don't always play with an outline now. And when we do, we have a guy who can do it as well as anybody. And doesn't cost a €150 million to sign. And I think that that is testament to cheaper motives ability. And it's reward for his patience and his self belief does he at no point has thought I am lucky to be here. He believes that he belongs there, and to be honest, he looked at what he's done for PSG and for Biden, it's hard to disagree. Essentially, to paraphrase your Rory, say trying to judge Brendan Fraser purely by his masterful work in encino man. And we do have to talk about what chupa

"Yeah, but like Cole came after a tough spout in the season food in this week is talked about how this season has been one of his lowest in the game and pepper dressed it actually pregame he said he's spoken to Phil that he's gone down the level when it happens you have to accept it can't blame others, the opponent or the manager or the club except you can do better step by step you will be back, which is really tough love from father to son and tough love for Newcastle they can't score at the moment or averaging something like one goal every four hours in the Premier League since a World Cup pickings were slim. There was a peculiar joy of seeing Anthony Gordon's steaming on gold, pulled back his foot and just whipped entirely proof you can take the boy yeah I've ever said though. There's also a violent foul from the I mean it's always to me when I see Miguel Moore or not smiling, it's always shocking, but watching him take out Jack Grealish 6 months after grills had drunkenly screamed at Morris that he plays like Alma on. I've got to say I was totally there for some almiron Grealish revenge tour violence, but Newcastle they get so much possession. They are, they're almost comical in their attempts to muster a shot on target, David. Yeah. I mean, they're not the only one. There are certain clubs we're going to get to a couple of them who are exactly the same roger, perhaps teams that we follow. But yeah, Newcastle certainly now they're seen as more of a target where teams going against them. You know, they're not getting so many surprise goals. They are, they're having to earn more and it's tough. And against Manchester City, they make it very, very difficult for you to really open them up. And yeah, this game was not really as close as the final score suggested. Yeah, city honestly held Newcastle arms lent like an older brother just getting a little brother, just getting that on the old head and letting them windmill away with the punches, just grasping in air and then they couldn't be hurt pet fling on Bernardo for KDB within two minutes, 8 seconds. He delivered the dagger, city just preying on a Newcastle defensive lapse driving forward flinging up ball along the edge of the box, like a burger patty, going down that 5 guys prep line, Grealish, to her land, big man, soft hands, fed Bernardo, stabbed at home, and then we just had lots of really high land shit housing, so many forms of Harlan shit housing down the stretch. The fight with Dan burn, David. My initial reaction was, his hole under one after look up, I've never seen it before normally. He just ambles into a scrap with certainty he's going to have the high ground, but what did you make of this tussle, which if it had been allowed to go on, I do believe scientifically may have caused the world to just spontaneously combust if you haven't been like a superhero fight. We've been like, Iron Man versus the hulk or something. Yeah, no. I mean, it's tough because I don't like fighting in football. I don't think it's a good thing. And yet at the same time. Let them sometimes I'd like to see these fights go on. I have no way to call it. You sort of feel ultimately like Erling Haaland just has too much Viking in him to allow Dan burn to get near him. Dan burn though has been Dan Bernard has taken out the likes of begged me many times in bar fights across England. I think. And nobody needs props. He needs a prop. If he gets him near the corner flag, he could have hurt him, but not without a problem. I've got one no one this fight. Sometimes Holland smiles and I could swear and I'd love city fans who watch him with more detail than I do to tell me this is true or not. Maybe I'll ask pep I swear that Hollande's top teeth are a pair of dentures that he's just ripped out of some vanquished defender's mouth on the battlefield. Sometimes it looks like Holland's top row of teeth are just made out of badly varnished wood. They're really cool. They don't really fit in his mouth. Yeah, but I think he likes it. I think he likes that you know that he knows that then weren't his own and you don't want to know where we got them. Two nail city who won, really, who won this one, I'd say sports washing was probably the winner off the field, but city on it, best attack overwhelmed the league's best defense, important three points for city. You wouldn't know that from peps demeanor, postgame, full dark night mode, and Newcastle really will root chance after chance miss, take stock of a season. There could be flailing a little bit in the last 8 weeks. They've been eliminated from the FA Cup by League One Sheffield Wednesday. They lost the carabao Cup final and they've dropped 40 points for the last 21. They got wolves, forest away, Manchester United still to come to weigh the lads. Okay, now to the game that my son, George and I were actually at this weekend, Chelsea won, leads nearly 53rd minute towering header from the excellent Wesley Fofana, delivered a rare victory for Chelsea and most significantly granted temporary clemency one assumes to professor Potter, who desperately needed these points. Chelsea are in tenth place leads or in 17th out of the drop zone on goal difference alone. How the world felt different when these two teams met back in August, Jesse marsh, oversaw that delirious renal drubbing over Thomas Tuchel, which everything felt possible and Chelsea, a city tenth in the league 8 wins or season, just one win in 2023. I was taking your son to his first match at Stamford Bridge, a game that I hoped, despite all the bully isms that surround it and 90 minutes he'll never forget. What was it like? Well, look, number one, two, anybody out there listening to this who've not yet made the trip to England to watch your favorite Premier League team play. And perhaps if you have your own son, your own daughter, your own family member who would love to go there with you, do it. Empty out the piggy bank, it was just, you know, much more than the cost of the flight and the hotel and the tickets that were. And then not the Nando's, but some other meals. It was just worth it, tenfold, 24, 30 fold. It's priceless. It was really a priceless experience. He was just so moved to walk in there into the stadium, he's been to the stadium before, but never on match day to make the walk down the Fulham road. And he just loved every second of it, and it was incredible. And the atmosphere I have to say, I was surprised that Stanford bridge was packed and the atmosphere was incredible. Maybe because they thought that their might have been a live firing at halftime by the Americans of Graham Potter. So there was a little bit of a sense that people were there to witness as much at the end of Potter as the beginning of something. The leads fans, of course, were amazing. They sang their hearts out the entire game. But the atmosphere was pretty special, but yeah, what an experience taking George there. To the game, Chelsea dominate the possession, but it was sterile possession, have a slip through by Sterling full half the field romp, but melies swatted it aside with his massive occasionally erratic French arm, jao Felix wrapped the bar, chili volley just passed the page from floated in by Kai.

"Matt, I believe that the national player of the year conversation has been done for quite some time now. But if you still weren't sure, you gotta think that Sunday's money performance locked it up for Caitlin Clark. So now that the Hawkeye is regular season is over, their focus now turns to the Big Ten tournament and really, if we're being honest here, the NCAA tournament. We are. So along those lines, Iowa got bounced from last year's NCAA tourney in the second round when ten seat creighton held Clark to 15 points on four of 19 shooting, which, yeah, that was definitely her worst performance of last season. In the two previous tournaments, the Hawkeye's got to the elite 8 and the sweet 16, so the pressure will be on for Caitlyn Clark and Monica sono to get deep into the tournament once again. Yeah, and as we mentioned earlier, there was a whole mess of buzzer beaters across the sport over the weekend. Many of them on the road, by the way, that includes on the men's side, Florida state, beating number 13 Miami 85 84. Number 22 San Diego state got New Mexico also on the road, 73 71 and Sarah from what I understand this last one is your least personal favorite. Arizona state. Beat number 7, Arizona, on the road, 89, 88 on a shot from beyond half court by Desmond Cambridge junior beyond half court. I was there. I was right next to the bucket and from my angle, I really did not think it was going to go in, but it did. It did. It did. All right, next up, we are headed to the Premier League on Sunday. It was the latest showdown between London rivals, Tottenham, and Chelsea, with Tottenham winning two nil as Chelsea continues to spiral after spending big money to try and turn around their season map. Yeah, share it bad, bad times for Chelsea, but first the good times for Tottenham listen to the reaction is Harry Kane scored to put them up to nil. Nothing. Nothing as far as fan loves more. The to laugh in the face of Chelsea. Laughing in the face of Chelsea Harry Kane and Tottenham are now fourth in the Premier League table, by the way. But turning to Chelsea, they are now winless over their last 6 matches, and that is the longest they've gone without a win since 2012 and bigger picture they are tenth in the league. And now an extreme long shot to qualify for the Champions League next year, which is significant because that would mean less cash to legally pay off a number of very expensive transfers that they've made in recent months, long story short, ever since Todd bowly took over as owner of the team, they have reportedly spent in excess of $600 million bringing in new players, including an English transfer record, 106 million on Argentina midfielder, Enzo Fernández last month. Now, new manager grand Potter, who was hired after Thomas Tuchel was fired back in September, is already coming under heavy scrutiny himself with many fans calling for him to be fired as well. Oh, extra rough times all around for Chelsea right now. Matt, as you mentioned, they currently sit tenth in the table 14 points behind Tottenham after Sunday's loss. Let's go to baseball now and some major contract news for San Diego Padres star Manny Machado who on Sunday agreed to terms on an extremely large extension with the Padres. Extremely large extension. Yeah, 11 years and $350 million that is per ESPN's Jeff passon. And that deal will take the 30 year old Manny Machado or as I'm going to start calling him more money Machado. Please, please feel free to use it. That's going to take him past his 41st birthday and presumably to or near the end of his career. Now you might be saying to yourself, Matt stroup, didn't this guy just get a massive deal a few years ago. Didn't he? Exactly. Well, he did. Back before the 2019 season, but Machado had an opt out clause this year that just last week, Machado said he planned to use after early discussions about an extension broke down. Now this new deal for the record has no opt outs plus a full no trade clause. Now the Padres have not been shy about spending money in recent history Matt on top of this Machado deal. Again, 11 years and 350 million, the Padres have paid Xander bogarts 11 years and 280 million. Fernando Tatís Jr. 14 years and 340 million, you Darvish 6 years and 108 million and Joe musgrove 5 years and 100 million, all while trading for Juan Soto, who, of course, becomes a free agent after the 2024 season, and he is going to need his own payday. So now that the Padres are starting to spend a little bit more like the Dodgers, we will see if they can consistently compete with the Dodgers for the NL west and the NL as a whole. As you know, the Padres took out the Dodgers in the NLDS last season, but the Dodgers have won the division 9 of the past ten seasons, so it is going to be fun, Matt, to see just how much of a dent the Padres can make in that long running success in the years to come. Yeah, this should be an absolutely fascinating team to watch this year. And one of their big questions, Machado's contract is now settled and we can turn our focus to another enormous question. What they might get from Fernando Tatís Jr. coming back from surgeries, plural, and suspension. We are staying with Major League Baseball for our final story today, going from a massive contract extension to a massive rules snafu. Yes, it was a crazy weekend when it comes to the new reality of the pitch clock. It truly was Sarah. Now, as a quick reminder, the pitch clock rule for those who don't know is essentially that a picture is on a 15 second timer to make each pitch when the bases are empty or 20 seconds when there are runners on. Meanwhile, the batter has to be in the box for at least the final 8 seconds of that clock. And in the braves Red Sox spring training game on Saturday, the focus turned to an Atlanta hitter, Cal Conley, who had strike three called on him a violation on the hitter with two outs and a full count to end the game in a tie. This is mayhem. Automatic strike three

"It's an unnecessary toxic circus. Yeah. And it's not going to change until the personnel changes. It's as simple as that and I'm afraid Paris and PSG are not big enough for the two of them. And I'm not even I'm not even considering messy. Messages does his thing. Messi gets on with the unfair or available. I'm talking about this, this continuing bickering and. Parting shots and making statements that are ambiguous kind of failed. And accusations and it's not helping the team. But this scenario is always going to be here this year when Mbappé turned down that Real Madrid move. Yeah. And the two of them in the dress and I'm just clearly, it's just toxic and it's not helping gold tear be able to do his job. And it's been the same for almost every manager. Now, some have handled it better than others, but gold is finding out just how difficult it is. And yeah, what about Lewis Campbell's going down to sit in the bench? What reminds me back in 1982, remember when that shake of cavite went down on the pitch and stopped that game? I got a goal canceled. This is like hundred years ago. Expect everybody to say that. But I mean, that is the ultimate miserable situation for a coach when they actually head of sport comes down that it's just humiliating and it's interesting to follow Paris because it can learn us everything about individuals making a team team makes individuals develop. And it's a paradox in the times with Chelsea struggling that the only manager managed to do that was Thomas Tuchel, who took to the Champions League Final, didn't they? And I think that he had something going on and find a way of leadership and no finds out. It's not enough to be a coach there. You have to be a leader with a big L, you have to be a leader that the players do respect and it seems that don't respect anything. I guess sometimes they respect themselves. I think part of the composting is the official. From the angles I saw there, the penalty against variety was ludicrous. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And I think that was part of it as well as the performance, but to go back to the Mbappé stove. You know, when you're making, as you say, can a friendly veiled accusations and statements that are ambiguous, then if not only get Neymar, presuming it's about him, but maybe the other players as well, and if I'm an address, I want to say, well, listen, who are you talking about? Right. If I'm scared you're Ramos or any of these Markov variety or any of these senior players, are you talking about me? Yeah. Right, because I want to know now if you're talking about him, that's fine. Are you talking about a generalization of the dressing room? And if so, let's have it out and address room. Let's not go to the press and talk about people not eating properly, not sleeping properly, and not training properly. And then say it's not about him. It's about everybody. There's a dressing room that you need to try and keep together. And it's making there's nothing good coming out and basically throwing people under the bus to the press, sure. Do it in the dressing room. I've out his face. But this is just a continuation of what we've seen for, I don't know, 18 months, 24 months with these players, it's almost one upmanship. There's no doubt and Barbie is a better player at this point of his career. If you're picking one, to play in one, it doesn't play. It's a non contest. But having these continuing continuing arguments and statements and comments depress, but others in your dressing room is just not helping. I'm sure they'd be discussing that and more lanes on the next edition of the Gavin

The Belgian strikers back in the Chelsea squad having apologized for the upset he caused with comments in an interview with Italian media, saying he wasn't happy at Stamford Bridge. He was dropped by boss Thomas Tuchel for Sunday's Premier League encounter against Liverpool, but after a meeting on Monday between the pair, Lukaku spoke to the club's website saying he is 100% determined to show his commitment. Well, also making a return to action soon could be Lukaku's former teammate at Inter Milan Christian Eriksen. Many would have walked away from the game after what happened to him last summer at the European Championships when he collapsed on the field whilst playing for Denmark, having suffered a cardiac arrest. He hasn't played since, but the 29 year old who now has a heart regulating monitor fitted has said his dream is to line up for his country at the World Cup in Qatar later this year. It's really my boots. I didn't know how he landed his portfolio. I feel like I know for the rest of the skate, for the core part of it. That was Christian Eriksen and I daresay there will be a whole host of people cheering him on who would be delighted to see him run out onto the pitch in Qatar later this year back to you, Becky. Hi, thanks for joining us. Welcome along to world sport live from London. With me, Amanda Davis. One of the big questions looming over the start of this year's sporting calendar looks to have been answered after months of uncertainty 9 time Australian open champion Novak Djokovic is heading down under Annie will be lining up to defend his title in Melbourne at the Australian open, having been granted a medical exemption permission. Djokovic has previously refused to talk about his vaccination status. And his appearance at the opening Grand Slam of the year had been in doubt because of Victoria state regulations that govern Melbourne, which state that people must be vaccinated in order to work. But the man himself has taken to social media, posting a picture of his bags packed and saying I've spent fantastic quality times with my loved ones over the break. Today I'm heading down under with an exemption permission. Let's go. 2022. Well, for more, here's tennis writer and broadcaster host of the no challenges remaining podcast. Ben Rothenberg with his reaction from Australia. The news that Novak Djokovic has been granted a medical exemption that will allow him to play at the Australian open. And months of speculations about whether or not he will play the tournament at all, but also raises all sorts of more questions about how he got this exemption and how news of this exemption will affect his already pretty low popularity among much of the public in Melbourne. Djokovic had been on the fence but whether he put his current for a long time and though medical exemption had been mentioned as a possible loophole for him to get in and be eligible if he were not vaccinated. He had never revealed his status either way before news of this. I don't think many people thought it was a real possibility given the sort of severe acute medical conditions that were listed as being required in order to get a medical exemption. Novak's exemption comes at a time when there have been pretty big buy in from the players on the ATP tour finally who largely been slow to get vaccinated, but many of them had knowing that it was going to be required for the Australian open and the latest ATP numbers, 90 5 of the top hundred had the vaccinated at this point. Djokovic obviously being one of those holdout 5. If Djokovic can get over the resentment that he gets in the stands and possibly from the locker room as well, he absolutely has a chance to win a record breaking 21st Grand Slam title involving his tenth Australian open title here in Melbourne. But it will take a considerable mental effort to block out the amount of speculation and negativity. He's likely to get for being treated with different rules than everyone else's. That was Ben Rothenberg from Australia, the tournament getting underway on January 17th. Now Rommel Lukaku has apologized and will be back in the Chelsea squad for Wednesday's carabo cup semifinal against Tottenham. He'd been pictured back in training, despite being dropped for Sunday's game against Liverpool after a controversial interview with Italian media in which he'd said he was unhappy at Stanford bridge. And now addressing the media on Tuesday, Thomas Tuchel said the pair had a calm meeting as he put it and that he's been reassured, the Belgian striker didn't intentionally cause the controversy. He apologized and is back in the squad for today's training for me the most important thing was to understand and to clearly understand and believe that it was not intentional. He did not do this intentionally to create this kind of noise in front of a big game. It's not that big. As maybe people wanted to be or you wanted to be, it's not small. It's also not small, but it's small enough to stay calm to accept an apology and to move on forward. He's very aware of what happened and what he created and he is in he feels the responsibility to clean them as that. Maybe we will have a bit of smell still from it, of course. He can handle it. There's also no other choice. He can not expect now everybody to be super happy. The very next day. But he is still our player. I was Thomas Tuchel. Now, coming up, Portuguese celebrations are the wave eventually Old Trafford, as wolves take the spoils on Ronaldo's home to her. Why is everyone talking about and nasal irrigation? I want to suffer from chronic sinus infection. If you work in construction, you work around sawdust or any type of dust. You need to clean that crap out of your nose. She snores. We both snore. Hey, we're back with news that Chelsea's record signing Romelu Lukaku will return to the squad for Wednesday's League Cup semifinal match against spurs after he'd been dropped for comments. He had recently made in a television interview. And yeah, also, you know, to the manager apologize and also to my teammates and the board because I think he was not the right moment also and I want to move on forward from this and make sure that we start winning football games and other performing for the team in the best manner. Also making a return to action soon could be Lukaku's former teammate at Inter Milan Christian Eriksen. The Danish midfielder I'm sure you recall collapsed on the field during the European Championships last summer and hasn't played a competitive game since. Because he wears an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, he can not legally play in Italy, but as he continues his recovery, he says he wants to play for his country at the World Cup later this year. He goes on his career as well as my balloons. I don't know how he landed amongst football. I feel like the rest of you are part of it, or nearly somewhere in rectified form again. "We just call it deflation. Did the word just keeps coming up. And it starts Andrew would Deandre yedlin in the fullback position. He should clear his lines. He gets kind of caught in two minds, half goes for a ball, Jamaica get it back. Bog goes into the box. Again, I don't know what Anthony Robinson is doing, but I will say this. If Bobby reads scoffs that, it's more likely to go in than the connection he got on it, which was just like rocketed. If he clips it with the bottom of his boot or his studs, it's probably going in to the net. And in a game where I thought he was so poor. For a player I've really liked. I thought he was just so far off it. Tonight. I mean, everything he did. And then I think later on he had a corner kick and it hits the first defender. And I'm like, just take this guy off. If I'm the Jamaican manager, you know, whitmore, get rid of them off straight away. Andrew, that was just the most massive massive stroke of lock. And then I think in like the 65th minute, Pulitzer Pulitzer coming on for where I want to take into. I know you've got to take someone off. But I wouldn't have. For the late, you know, unless he's, you know, they're managing minutes. I know he has had injuries in the past. On unless they're doing that. And it's a load management issue. I'm leaving him on. And I'm finding another way to get through this again to the game. And kellyn Acosta for younes Musa again just screamed to me. Musa, I don't know, was it tiredness? Maybe there's not enough 90 minutes in his legs at Valencia. I'm not sure. I would have left him as well. Because bringing Kellen a cast iron means a little not a little a lot more conservative in your approach towards the end of the game. And then you saw, I guess some have chances. Well, before you before you move off of that, I want to say one thing because I have one criticism of the substitution and involves Christian Pulisic, but it involves a kind of the other way. I don't know, we talked about the Thomas Tuchel comments, almost like subliminally bullying the U.S. into being ultra conservative with pulisic. It wasn't subliminal. It was very obvious. I don't know that he was trying to bully them. He was just suggesting, please don't get my guy hurt. Please be responsible with how you use them. I'm not saying Greg bear halter, listen to that or cared. But to me, in a game where the U.S. are clearly floundering in attack and you've got this gem like bring them on earlier. I don't know maybe they had some time. Sure. Sure. It's Christian Pulisic..

You're in New Jersey one on 1.5. Etienne de Love you guys. I was with you every day. Thank you. Thank you. I was the home Depot. My son was like, maybe 2.5 and I had just got my tax return. I had like maybe two or $3000 in my pocket book and I had I had got a vacuum. I had it in the cart. He was playing women, Thomas Tuchel trade to have pushing on the floor with the truth to train, so he went underneath one of the shelves. I don't know, because I was looking at a ladder, right? I'm looking looking and I turned around and it was a lot of people in this. Pocketbook. The vacuum. I left everything. I couldn't see him. So I'm walking through people to her door and stores. That's his name going and I was crying and everything. Yeah, I was like I was like I lost my mind and then a home people. Uh, man, I remember him. He was really tall and big. Hey, came up. He was home. Nice. He was hugging me here. You're all right. I can't find myself. I can't find my son. He said Okay. Where was the last place that you saw him, so I took him back down the aisle. Right behind the cart. There's another like there's a shelf. He's underneath the show with Thomas to tutor train right by with my car and process possible for that. Oh, my God! Yeah, And and And who's who thinks that kid is gonna disappear beneath a shelf like like like that is just like one step above like the kid having a magic trap door that they just fall through like a magician stage. Thank you. A healthy part of this. Don't do it. They have, like the shelves so big, you know, And if I could just like, if you like, maybe I say four to feel like you could just walk underneath and that's what happened. But he walked underneath there and sat down. It was just playing with his troop trains. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I got you. All right. He's on. Thanks for sharing your story with us. "James looking a little fitter ben joel. Obviously you're married to that signing for a while and that's a big frank lampard signing. This always happens when a new manager comes in. The manager has his guys and it'll be interesting to see if any of those players fall out of favor if someone base off merit on the training ground the manager goes with. But what do you think just based off of knowing this manager a little bit better. Because i think your phantom is a little bit more broader scope. Because you're not the emotional one here. What do you think the answers are. To get this ship righted defensively. I think his answers will be from the front not from the back. I don't think he's going to look at well. If we play and tony ruediger. Instead of kurt zuma that our defense will get better and we'll be more solid. I think what he would have seen as look the team that franklin part fueled that against luton was crazy attacking right you have gilmore and mount in the middle with ferns with verner in front of them politic and abraham as well. That's basically like five attackers in a center mid so it very attacking. And i think if you're going to play that way then your press needs to be precise everyone needs to do all of the running required and i think that's probably among if you're looking at things. Tactically vowed probably be the thing that frank lampard heading into. His next job would wanna get sorted if you're going to be oppressing team than every movement has to be coordinated every space to be covered because there are times where chelsea looked as though they were in a pressing shape but didn't actually cut things out. You go back to that. Arsenal game arsenal found the spaces to play through that press. So i think thomas two-goal would get that more organized that leave you more exposed at the back. I don't know. But we know that. Thomas duke is gonna come in and play as pressing team. I think he might have gotten away from that a little bit at psu. Because are you gonna tell neymar to press. I don't know. But i do think you kind of get back to that identity and really try and solve the problems from the front and make it more difficult to get to the defense. Never mind once you get there. It'd be more solid. It's interesting because two goals coming from a place that had massive personality and there are superstars at chelsea. Don't get me wrong but there are so much younger. Yeah i mean it does. The rosser combined have the instagram following. That neymar has so you have a bunch of. I'm i'm really wondering how the locker room is taking this because frankly import for many was the first true i e manager they had they have frank lampard to thank for their break. Finally their breakthrough at chelsea. And you have to think maybe some of them are worried just because naturally look. I just changed jobs from from. Espn on nervous. What does this mean for me. All sorts of introspection does a new guy. Is he going to favor me as much as my previous boss is dead. What kind of is this. An opportunity for me to remake myself and my career ensure sure that thought is going through the minds of everyone at chelsea players who play in the players who don't as well the players who don't will feel like well. This is a chance right like you know. Maybe i can reinsert myself into the team. But everyone's thinking right now..

"The contrast is stark for christian and climates. Enjoy the way that it was one calmansohn. A door was working himself back from injury and struggling with his opportunities christian is not scoring the goals he could have had a brain that last game certainly rooting for him to. I'm not so worried about who should start right now. I think it's a good problem to have. Because i know no matter. What from that position. I'm getting impact player. Even when he's not scoring christian pulisic was a terror in that game had so many touches inside the box. What does this mean for christian pulisic being that. He has a history with the incoming manager. I think it's great for christopher listrik of relations with the incoming manager. Because i mean not only did he play for. Thomas brought him through his professional. Yeah you're klopp was kind of the beginning of it but it was too cool. Who really gave him the platform to start in the champions league to start in the bundesliga achieving some of the things that got christian pulisic headlines. That's thomas to cold so you can imagine certainly rates the player. But i also don't want to kind of make the fans think that you develop these attachments to your academy products and now thomas who's gonna come in and play all the senior professionals. Tell us to perhaps i think sometimes to his detriment favors playing young players in psg. Right psg has sights on winning every competition. He still brought through some of the younger players that come through at that. Psg have a great academy. So i do think that the billy gilmore's of the world will have an opportunity to prove themselves under thomas to cool but from a political standpoint again i do think he will have to come in and look at it. Holistically how do you get harvard's and verner an pulisic and all the same questions that we've asked a frank lampard. The same questions will have to be asked of of thomas because all the players are still there. He's going to have to at the expense of some players feature others. Now the history would lead you to believe that christian pulisic will be favored amongst masuko plans. But maybe he comes in and thinks well. I do kinda like verner in that area. I want to play in that area. So i do think it is obviously great. Just on the surface that christian pulisic has a playing history and christian. Pulisic became this huge transfer fee player. And you american figure. That was all under. Thomas tickle but again you just don't know what to cook ideas are forgetting chelsea out of the predicament. That they're in and whether or not the feature christian pulisic because he might also say. I also butts in the. Do i want him to start. You had a good defensive record but it all the sets are good for. psg domestically because it's a bit of a flat track for psg in france. Obviously we need to fix the defense here with fools gold after that mendy signing we were flying high and i could name everybody that scored off a mendy because there were so few now. The defense is once again a problem and it had been for the majority of franklin imports time at chelsea outside of a very hot and a half defensively. What can be done. Because i don't think there are going to be incoming transfers here. The players are what the players are four time superbowl and the as as silva which is good because a player a veteran player like tiago silva. It's good that he doesn't have to go through that much upheaval given that he's already appear. His life has gone through so much upheaval. in coming. Over here reese..

"And kyw habits haven't quite yet and there wasn't really anything that you could see tactically that help them get better in fact. Many in the media pointed out that franklin part especially in the early going in verses career at chelsea was actually playing at a position. And we all know that we fancy team. Verner as a striker. It's a little difficult right. Because team abraham is coming off second hattrick alleviated rude scores more efficiently than anybody in the premier league. And we keep saying that we have to get this team. Oh verner thing right. Let's explore team. Oh i because. I thought he played very well and that. Fa cup match obviously misses the pen. You feel form. But i thought he benefited from the formation change. The score pointed out twenty three starts for team over owner nine goals six assists five pens. One won miss. Georgina won miss by him. All in all fifteen goal contributions in twenty three shirts that qualifies as a poor season for team over averni because his record was such leipzig that this qualifies as a poor season. You thought you were getting. that player. hasn't worked out yet but you brought in other talent that you thought you could suffer through a dip informed from team verner kaya hazards for everybody. I think is assigning. The you absolutely have to get right. Unlike team owner that came at some value. This broke the bank. One of the biggest signings in football history and was getting worse. Now i know in fairness to chi it's a new league. He's still young. He's got this reputation being a second half player and paramount. Above all you had a bout with covid the was symptomatic and is still seemingly struggling to get over. How does thomas will get habits going. I would say the specificity in his tactics instructions as you said. The answer seemed to be have more personality. Do more and i think german players in particular are so tactically drilled. Everything is everything is precise. And i do think that frank lampard and look like the you know. I think senator dan coaches this way. Let's pretend like it doesn't work. I think josie marino coaches this way tacking players. Go and do your thing like your incredibly special. Have the personality and i think in some ways. That's a difficulty. Frank lampard and communicating will do what i did right like he just has this understanding of the game. We've seen coaches that you know had such big playing career sometimes struggle to communicate that. Also chris i'm sorry to interrupt but across all sports here in the united states. Magic johnson tried his hand at coaching. And what they struggle with is. Why can't you just do it for me. This came easy. Why can't i convey just do this. Every post-match in which chelsea had a disappointing result. It was frank lampard. We lack that killer instinct..
